#anyway. he is like an uncle to me.
I have a desk job that’s basically fancy customer service, with a manager who can be a real asshole.
So I was feeling a little cheesed off at work the other day, but then I saw a Twin Peaks post on Twitter that broke through my irritation and made me smile. And I thought to myself, ‘man, if Dale Cooper was here, he would sympathize with me and tell me I’m doing a great job.’
On a related note, did you know that in the U.S. you can use the Walgreens app to print any photo from your camera roll into a full size glossy photograph for less than $3?

Alderaan, 4.25 p.m, sometime after the war has ended
Breha: Oh, Fox is back from his trip to Kamino, let's go meet up with him at the docks!
Bail: Welcome back home, love, how was the-
Fox: Yes?
Bail & Breha:
The extremely adorable baby clone Fox is holding:
Fox: Oh, yeah. I forgot to tell you beforehand, I am so sorry. It all happened so suddenly
Breha: Oh, we don't mind, we just didn't know that they were releasing any of the cadets from Kamino yet
Fox: They aren't
Bail: ...did you ask if you could take him?
Fox: No, because they would've said no. No one will know, though, because what are they going to do? A DNA-test? I'm his dad, of course he has the same DNA as I do.
Bail:
Breha:
Baby: Bwah
Breha: What am I the Queen for if not for forging papers

I still find it odd that some people get mad when you make the CoD characters cry in fics or hc because it’s like have you ever gotten close to a real life man before?
Sure, there’s the social standards that say men don’t cry (which is outdated and rooted in misogyny, sexism, and patriarchy bullshit btw) and that they shouldn’t but have you ever met a man irl before?
My dad cries. Not often, but he sobbed when we had to put my two elderly cats down, he cried when I went to university , actually he cried when all of my sisters went too. He cried when my uncle, his brother, died and any time I comforted him about it he would get choked up.
My brother in law has cried in front of me before when he lost friendships (no deaths but it was a bad friendship break up)
My old friend cried because of a break up he had and because of his horrible family situation…in class around other people
My point is, are the cod men going to cry at every little thing? No, but they’re human and if they care about those around them, and have personalities (which they do) when something happens, when something goes wrong and they break down they’re going to cry
So make them cry more in your fics not only for the realistic aspect but also so people stop being weird about men crying

the idea came to me in a migraine induced dream but now im obsessed with the concept of a mu qingfang who knew the abuse bunhe was going through at the hands of og!shen qingqiu/shen jiu and did his best to treat the kid whenever he could (and bring his concerns to zhangmen shixiong, which were obviously very much ignored) and his constant worry over the situation means that when the qi deviation happens he is suspicious of shen qingqiu’s changes for all different reasons and very much protective of luo binghe -who is a sweet child and an earnest disciple who seems to always find the most incredible medicinal herbs to bring to his mu shishu as thanks for the care bestowed upon him- which means that when the whole shen qingqiu dying thing happens instead of bad mouthing luo binghe or fighting him at every chance he does his best to come over and keep an eye on things to try and help him and make sure luo binghe won’t kill himself trying to bring shen qingqiu back because he remembers that earnest kid and he’s witnessed luo binghe’s devotion to this shen qingqiu first hand and knows there is no way that the kid who cried when ning yingying found a bird with a broken wing and begged mu qingfang to fix it and the kid that would always borrow medical texts and try to find new herb combinations as if it was a game between him and qian cao disciples is actually doing anything nefarious to shen qingqiu’s corpse.
anyways in this essay i will-

@esper-aroon has enabled me, so here let me scream at y'all about The Imperial Uncle.
Okay, so I recently read The Imperial Uncle (Huang Shu) by Da Feng Gua Guo from Peach Flower House and I really loved it??? It's first person pov, mlm, about the Emperor's uncle Jing Chengjun, who is mistrusted by everyone simply because of who his parents were and his position, and so he's basically given up on trying to convince people that he's actually a nice, decent person without ulterior motives. He's super trapped by his position, and there's so much he can't say and do, and he's also a hopeless romantic, like, from his own mouth all he really wants is to sleep beside and wake up next to someone who actually gives a shit about him, and even that is basically out of reach in his life. Like, the book starts with his wife (who he has never once had sex with) storming into a meeting he's having and announcing he's a cuckold and she's pregnant.
But also, this poor bastard really thinks he knows what's going on and his very smart. Very unreliable narrator. He's actually kinda a hilarious, impulsive himbo. But the TL:DR is that his loneliness and isolation and the extent to which he's politically trapped routinely lead him to make absolutely terrible decisions.
E. Danglar's translation is absolutely gorgeous, too, and... idk, if you love political plots, melodramatic idiot main characters, a dose of pining, and a slow burn that eventually pays off, come take a look??? (some people think it's a love triangle??? idk, I never really got that vibe, I never felt it was really in doubt which of the two potential dudes he'd end up with, but maybe I only feel that way because I got it right, lmao).
Anyway, I can't stop thinking about how these two idiots end up finally finding each other and getting together, and I have an entire AU in my head (a modern corporate one) and part of another (canon divergent from like a decade before the book starts), and I just want people to love this book as much as I did and scream with me about it.

I have this headcanon that Robo-Ky is really touchy feely. He doesn't have too much intent behind it in most situations.

Ooooh the way the scene where Laurent gets felt up and Damen becomes so lost in rage over it that he kills two people before being restrained again parallels the scene with the Regent where Damen again assaults two people all while being restrained by several others and promising to kill the regent for touching Laurent.
The way both those scenes end with Laurent choosing a route that brings Damen the most pain but saves his life.
The contrasting elements between these points in the story are interesting too. The way stakes were lower in the first scenario because Laurent had planned everything out and if he could convince those men to let Damen go even if just to torture him then they would both make it out alive. But in the latter scenario Laurent doesn’t have that guarantee of a fallback anymore and just like Damen his decision is powered by a need to protect. There is no deeper thought than simply saving Damen’s life. And he does. He manages the situation and offers his own life instead.

Fic-to-Art #44: Zuko and Katara meet Hotaru
This time around, my Patrons chose these two scenes from the prompt I offered them... and that prompt was "Hotaru", our tiny firefly herself <3 drawing her continues to be a challenge pertaining how to ever make babies look cute, but I hope she looks alright this time!
These two moments take place not too far from the other, but it's worth noting that Katara and Zuko don't get to see Hotaru at the exact same time. Thus, I figured I'd take advantage of the opportunity... and draw Sokka and Azula introducing their little one to their respective siblings. This will be an emotional chapter (lots of those coming up), but I do hope that these moments of happiness will be a good way to soothe the pains caused by our very intense angst from the current chapters... to be specific, this is chapter 378, so we're not that far away!! Just gotta wait a bit longer!
A part of me took joy in this specific prompt... the fandom has an abundance of "uncle Sokka" and "aunt Azula" content, be it with them together or not, while Zuko and Katara (also while together or not) happen to be the ones who become parents first. This often relegates their siblings to a secondary role, and too often there's either implications or outright accusations that these two just aren't fit for parenting. I don't really remember seeing much, if any, content where Zuko and Katara are the uncle and aunt instead... thus, I figured this would be a fun switch-up that, ultimately, doesn't mean any of these four aren't fit for parenting (Zuko's already a dad, Katara will be a mother someday in the future!)! It just means that Zuko and Katara get to bond with little Hotaru and be supportive siblings! And everyone's happy and wholesome in the process!
At any rate! I hope you guys like it, and as ever, if you'd like to be part of the creative process behind these pieces, a $1 pledge makes you eligible for suggesting art prompts and voting for the winner, as well as reading Gladiator snippets 6 days before the next chapter releases!
