Like, yes, there are similarities, but I think it's the opposite sort of similarity.

Like, we know Lily was the golden child on her family:

A golden child whose sister felt abandoned by. Which makes Petunia sound more like Regulus and Lily like Sirius.

I think, that when Sirius and Regulus were children before Sirius ran away, Sirius was the golden child, not Regulus:

“Well, anyway, he was a big pal of your father’s at school. The whole Black family had been in my House, but Sirius ended up in Gryffindor! Shame — he was a talented boy. I got his brother, Regulus, when he came along, but I’d have liked the set.”

He had the same dark hair and slightly haughty look of his brother, though he was smaller, slighter, and rather less handsome than Sirius had been.

Regulus is consistently described as "less" than Sirius. Less handsome, and less talented, and I think that was true at home, too. I think the reason Regulus went all out on blood purity and the Black family pride was that he was the second best to everyone except Kreacher. He wanted to prove himself worthy.

I headcanon Sirius was Walburga's favorite child. Kreacher does say that Sirius leaving broke her heart:

“Master Sirius ran away, good riddance, for he was a bad boy and broke my Mistress’s heart with his lawless ways. But Master Regulus had proper pride; he knew what was due to the name of Black and the dignity of his pure blood...”

Sirius, contrary to popular fanon, wasn't unloved at home. I think Walburga and Orion loved him. I think Walburga saw herself in him. I think leaving them, realising everything they stood for was wrong hurt Sirius as much as it hurt his mother. After all, in OotP we see he chooses to stay in his parents' bedroom in his depression, not his own. He left Regulus' bedroom untouched, like a mausoleum. He still misses them, he loved them, and it makes his story all the more heartbreaking. Because you can love people who are wrong and who you know have evil ideologies, it doesn't mean you stop loving them instantly.

So, I think there is more of a connection between Lily & Sirius — golden, preferred children who are different among their families. Lily is the only witch in her family, and Sirius is the only Gryffindor in his family. Both are the smarter, more talented, more attractive sibling. Both of them ended up leaving home, leaving their families, for James Potter.

Then, you have Petunia & Regulus — stuck being second best, craving their parents' love and affection. The less talented, less attractive sibling. Both stick as close as possible to their society's version of "normal" to get the affection and pride they crave. Both hang out with people who are probably more extreme in these views than them and are more violence-prone than them (Death Eaters, Vernon).

So, yeah, I think there are similarities, just, not quite the ones you illustrated.

I have decided that motion sickness is a thing that exists! Do with that what thou will. I think the hollowhead Beckers beloveds would be immune to normal motion sickness.

Red was already canonically prone to dizziness and motion sickness, hence the suppressants he'll get ahold of later in the plot when it comes up there's a minor issue with his teleporting armor. :>

Stick City was just the fanon-wide accepted name for the Outernet city we see from time to time in canon, and when I was starting Arc One, it was the name on my brain so therefore, was used.

I suppose, it does make sense for there to be implications of a Lizard City or something-

I think Stick City is the capital of the Outernet. For the world of Super Sticks, I mean.

(Not for canon, because then that would be a really bad capital to have- You see how shabby everything seems, and how indifferent the sticks are and how small it appears, aside from the mass that is Rocket Corp-?! That's a city, but it ain't no capital-) (...Is this just how I see the canon city? Does- Does anyone else think this too-? ..Is it just me here-)

In SuperSticks, I would absolutely say Stick City is the capital, hence the name that focuses on the species known as sticks that take up 98% of the entire Outernet. And also my SuperSticks version of Stick City is a lot more industrialized and expanded, truly worthy of being considered a capital city. THE CAPITALLLLLL-

And any other neighboring cities of sticks would have different names, like, uh.. Circuit Town and.. maybe, uh... Conduction, by itself as a landmark something.

I want to spend hours of my time coming up with map accurate expansions and hyperspecfic names down to the restaurants of my imaginary Super Sticks Outernet world now-

There aren't planets, since the Outernet is virtual. There's basically world barriers at the edges, as I mentioned in a previous ask.

Also humans literally cannot travel to the Outernet, since it's virtual. Every stick figure is just tiny pieces of code to a human!

Can't canonically smash the very Human AU: The Spark, with the very code-structured heavy binary related stick figure society of Super Sticks, together. I need to author plot magic a portal and make a skit/non-canonical crossover.

I think it makes a lot of valid points. I entirely agree that the idea that Sister abused or groomed him is a fanon concept. I've stated before that l think they're portrayed much more as an example of an unhealthy codependency than a power-imbalanced grooming situation.

Given that Sister is repeatedly mentioned as being sickly and lonely, I think it's likely that Korekiyo - even as the younger sibling - felt responsible for her. They were already close growing up, and now he's literally all she has. Given the similarities in their appearance I don't think they're that far apart in age, and given that Korekiyo is just kind of creepy and offputting anyway I imagine that he struggled to maintain friendships of his own as a kid and when Sister became homebound he pretty much gave up altogether and decided they didn't need anyone else, they could be everything to each other.

Is it healthy? Absolutely not. Is it a victim-abuser dynamic? No, I don't think so.

Furthermore, I agree about the DID thing, too. I really don't think the writer understands enough about the nuances of psychosis to accurately portray any kind of psychotic disorder (given the whole Toko Fukawa thing), so to say that it's him being a system or that Sister is an alter is I think, firstly, an ungracious representation of DID, and secondly, giving the writer too much credit. As is often the case with codependencies, losing the object of his fixation caused him to completely fall apart. When you put all your eggs in one basket and then lose it, you have nothing left. He's grasping at whatever straws he can to keep himself from feeling completely alone in the world.

On a slight tangent, this is why I struggle to read shippy fic about Korekiyo. Because he is not mentally in a place to have a healthy, respectful relationship with someone new. If he did start a new relationship, he'd get VERY intense with it VERY fast, I think, and he'd have no understanding of boundaries or privacy or 'taking things slow'. He'd try to use that person to fill the Sister-sized hole in his life, and when your life up to that point has revolved around one (1) person, that's a pretty big hole to fill.

The ONLY thing about this post that I SLIGHTLY disagree with is the idea that fans cannot portray him as a victim of abuse. If that's how you want to write him in your story, go for it. But yeah, acting as though your headcanons are gospel and using them to exonerate the character to relieve your own sense of moral purity is... poor media literacy and a bad faith argument to make.

Ikeshot. Let’s talk abt them.

Since you didn’t really specify what topic you want me to go over abt them i’ll just give you my general thoughts in regards to them and just specific general details i like to consistently characterize them when thinking of au’s and such.

Firstly abt Hotshot. He’s Korean-American in my opinion. There wasn’t really any specific actor that inspired this hc (not even the korean newsies cast, i don’t really know that cast that well) but i feel it fits him perfectly. He was born in Korea to Korean parents and then moved to the states for both canon and modern era (i hv no clue if there were any Korean immigrants in New York in the time where newsies take place and no i hv no interest in finding out whether that’s historically accurate<3). I like to think he’s the youngest. He has 12 older sisters. Idk it just feels fitting to me. His actual name is Park Ryung-Gu and i’m following the usual Korean naming rule so Park is his family name and his given name is Ryung-Gu (idk how to explain how to properly pronounce it other than like saying ‘young’ but with an R at the front followed by ‘goo’. Also i’m not very adversed with Korean naming and culture in general so there might be a few errors i make despite alr doing some light research. Srsly i ended up watching a kdrama compilation just to find out how to pronounce that name If anyone reading this can correct me then feel free to drop an ask).

Seeing that he had lived his majority of his childhood in the states, he’s considered the most fluent english speaker in his family. He likes helping his mother cook especially when she’s making kimchi. Man loves kimchi and can live off of eating that one single dish for his entire lifetime. He likes tiny hamsters but also big dogs. He actually likes a lot of k pop but can’t dance to save his life. Also one of his fav k pop boy band back when he was younger made him question his sexuality. His main sport is basketball but he come from swimming parents so it’s important that he knows how to swim well, thus he was able to reach the six foot mark by the time he reaches sophomore high school and ended up growing to 6’6. He’s good friends with Spot and Albert (i hc albert moving to Brooklyn at around age 10 before moving back to Manhattan for middle school so). He’s usually the more reserved calm and collected friend and dare I say the tired friend. Not to be confused as the mom friend bcs that’s Spot. Anyways. In some au’s Hotshot to me is a pharmacist or a beauty chemist. Whatever it is, he majored in a chemistry field for college bcs he’s best at chem class back in high school. It just clicks to him for some reason compared to other subjects like biology or economics.

Ok now for Ike. He’s younger than Mike by like 13 minites and Mike holds that over him bcs older brother duty™️. However Ike is taller than Mikd by like 1.5 inches which he holds over him bcs younger brother duty™️. Pretty sure it’s alr widely known that their names are Michael and Issac so yeah i stand by that fanon but i personally think their last name is Alvarez. In some au’s i hc them hving a little sister a year younger than them while other times i don’t. They are Cuban-American. Their parents along with their siblings are Cuban immigrants and gave birth to the twins in America. Ike is autistic while Mike is neurotypical. Throughout his childhood, Ike struggles a lot with sound and touch and regulating his emotions in general but he was mostly non verbal in his earlier years. The only other person he talked to back then was Mike up until like when he’s 8 or so was when he started getting better at his speech. Their mother in short isn’t the best person to be a mother. Safe to say it was for the best that their parents divorced when they were ten.

Ike was considerably the more reserved one between him and Mike but that doesn’t mean he’s not considered a troublemaker bcs in reality he still is. Despite still being able to joke around, he’s quite uptight. When he’s trying to regulate his anger he usually turns to boxing which is smth his father taught him back when he found out the twins were being bullied in elementary school. It serves as a great sport but also a great outlet to let out his anger. He’d punch a punching bag or ask Mike to spar with him. He’d dare to say that without boxing he might still not know how to regulate his anger in his adult years. However he’d say his main sport was soccer since that’s what he played in school teams. That does turn Ike to be a bit feisty, especially when he’s being disrespected. He doesn’t always go for the first punch, only as an act of self defense. Anyways, i hc him majoring in some sort of engineering field. Like he’d get a phd to research environmental engineering (renewable energy and all that stuff). He loves to learn actually and has an interest in technology + environment. He also loves cats. He has a brown cat named bear.

Now how did they ended up together you may ask? They met as a friend of a friend of a friend. Sorta. So while obtaining their bachelors degree, Ike has had bad luck with relationships. All the guys he’s ever liked are… terrible to say the least. He swears off dating until he gets his bachelors. Around his senior year, his good friend racetrack higgins just so happen to have a boyfriend from brooklyn named Spot who was also good friends with Race’s best friends and also Ike’s good friend named Albert. Spot and Albert also had a friend named Hotshot. One night when they were all going out to celebrate them nearly graduating, Ike and Hotshot met for the first time. Ike wld be lying if he said he didn’t find Hotshot to be attractive and Hotshot can’t deny he thought Ike was cute. However nothing happened and they only ever met every now and them in a big friend group setting. And ike was true to himself when he says he’ll put a hold on dating until he gets his bachelors (talk abt academic validation lolz definitely not self projecting here) in the middle of them obtaining their master’s degree, things start to escalate between them. They actually started seeing each other on their own and hv a fun time. When they finally gotten around to a confession (after being pushed by their friends to do it ofc) they started going out and took things slow to see where this was heading. As it turns out, they were a perfect match and ended up becoming more confident and srs with each other.

Hotshot and Ike are both reserved in their nature. Mostly calm and collected but can last in a fight if provoked. They’re not the most sociable person and it takes awhile for them to come out of their shell. So meeting and being comfortable with each other was great. Ike likes that despite the strength Hotshot displays, he is still kind and gentle to others. He’s very caring and sensitive. He gives Ike a sense of peace and security. He also gives the best hugs. Hotshot adores Ike for how careful he is at everything and how supportive he is. Ike is loyal and kinder than he lets himself believe. Ike always tries to better bcs he never really thought he was very great at displaying his affection when really Hotshot feels plenty loved by him. He loves how smart he is and how fun he can be when he’s comfortable but will also defend him till the end when he’s being wronged. He gives Hotshot a sense of comfort and warmth. He’s also feisty which is smth Hotshot finds to be quite cute in an affectionate way.

there’s a lot of little details and bits of genshin lore that i love but if i had to choose one it would be that hu tao’s birthday is the same as mine :3 KIDDING one of my favorite random genshin facts is how zhongli once invited xinyan, a rock musician well known for her intense and (literally) fiery concerts, to play some music for the wangsheng funeral parlor

(this is from xinyan’s voicelines btw. do you think zhongli likes rock music because he’s the lord of rocks)

and as for the headcanons!! i can come up with sooo many behold an assortment of genshin thoughts (most of which involve hu tao and xinyan because they are very special to me) (im putting them under a readmore because i got carried away sorry)

• one of my favorite sort-of fanon dynamics is zhongli and his adopted kids ganyu (eldest daughter least likely to get in trouble with the millelith) xiao (middle child whos been an angsty teenager for the last 2000 years) and hu tao (baby of the family with the strongest Gremlin Energy)

• xiao hates zhongli’s new boyfriend childe for Many Reasons such as: he’s spent months in liyue and still can’t use chopsticks, every time he sees xiao he ruffles his hair and calls him “little man”, one time he unleashed an evil god and almost destroyed liyue harbor

• zhongli’s other two children are a little less hostile towards childe. ganyu doesn’t fully trust him because of That One Time He Almost Destroyed Liyue Harbor but he makes zhongli really happy so he’s okay for now …and hu tao thinks he’s kind of a dumbass but his job requires him to kill a lot of people so he’s good for business

• hu tao made childe a customer loyalty card (“10% Off Your 10th Cremation Service!”) however despite childe thinking it was funny, zhongli wouldn’t let her make more copies to give out to the general public

• okay so usually in fanart/fanfics the liyue kids friend group is either xingqiu chongyun xiangling and xinyan or xingqiu chongyun xiangling and hu tao. but why not both. xingqiu chongyun xiangling xinyan AND hu tao AND throw in yun jin as well. all of them are buddies peace and love on planet teyvat

• hu tao has a sort of celebrity crush on beidou (i mean who wouldn’t-) and then she meets kazuha and shes like CAPTAIN BEIDOU HAS A KID?

• hu tao: woaaahh its so nice to meet beidou’s new son… i bet beidou wouldn’t just adopt anyone so you must be super cool and badass because um captain beidou is soooo cool and badass and strong and sexy and did you know she beat a sea monster without a vision and her biceps are big enough to l- kazuha: okay how about we talk about something else

• anyway kazuha is an honorary member of the Liyue Kids Friendship Squad

• xinyan and beidou are also like family but xinyan’s parents are still alive (i think) so xinyan thinks of beidou as more of a cool aunt figure. xinyan and kazuha are kind of like siblings to each other tho

• xinyan is like genuinely very kind and good-natured so i think that aside from people who are assholes to her for being loud/a rock musician she can get along with pretty much anyone. also she just. seems like a really good friend so i think all her friends should love n support her and go to as many of her concerts as they can

• one time when xinyan was having a concert in liyue harbor and chongyun got on stage and started drumming and doing backup vocals bc of his yang energy shenhe passed by and saw them and after the concert while xingqiu was tending to chongyun she approached xinyan

• shenhe: i see you’re a friend of my nephew. your music is very unique. it both soothed and aggravated my homicidal urges at the same time xinyan: uhhh well…th. thank you miss shenhe? i’ll take that as a compliment … if you’re ever in the area again you’re always welcome to rock out at my concerts

• i love yun jin and i love yun jin x xinyan i think they would make a very cute couple HOWEVER. i think hu tao x xinyan would be cute as well. theres a lot of potential there but they barely interact in canon and ive only ever seen one person who maybe ships them uwaaaaaa

• in a modern au hu tao and xinyan would both play gacha rhythm games and they would add each other as friends in-game. hu tao and xinyan are on each other’s bandori friendlist

Noooo you’re not the only one. There’s actually way more than you think quite honestly. 

But I think we hide in the closet because a lot of people in the jjk fandom can’t stomach the idea of Megumi having a crush on the person he calls his sister. Not to mention that the popular ship is itafushi and we basically run the risk of being labeled as homophobic for having a different opinion. 

It’s kind of fascinating, really. can you tell I’ve been reading takes from other fans on the matter and am a bit bitter about it?  So much gate-keeping.

My thoughts are very much fanon but I personally think Megumi may have repressed his attraction for Tsumiki. I like to think that once the hormones started raging, he may have realized the way he saw her had changed--aka he realized he was attracted to her beyond their platonic relationship as “siblings”.

Anyways, more below the cut because I have many thoughts on the subject.

When I say they are not related by blood, it’s not to minimize or deny the “platonic sibling” bond they share. Actually, I think that makes the ship even more beautiful--the fact that they can have a sibling-like trust in each other means they truly chose each other to care about. 

I think that Megumi is fully aware that they are not technically “family” (blood-relatives), and so Megumi says she chose him to care about because she chose him as family.

What strikes me is that he doesn’t appear to realize he’s chosen her too. All of his actions during the Culling Game are proof of just how much she means to him.

This goes back to my fanon idea that Megumi may have realized he sees her as more than a “sister” but either doesn’t realize it or rejected his feelings for her because she’s supposed to be his “sister.” 

But I feel like this realization of how much he does care for Tsumiki came after he had lost her to the curse--hence why he might regret both rejecting her and being mean to her. I swear the way he talks about her, Megumi sounds like a scorned boyfriend who got broken up with lol.

Side note: Go watch Zetsuen no Tempest. Similar set up. 

When it comes to why I think he likes her... well, for me, the obvious answer is that he thinks of her when asked about his type.

Megumi thinking of Tsumiki when asked about his type is just such a strange thing because, literally, very very few people will think of their sister/brother when asked about their type. It’s not a poor interpretation to take that panel at face value. 

I also know the kanji Megumi uses in his answer is similar to the kanji in Yuji’s name and I also know that Gege is very playful and intentional with his use of kanji. 

I don’t intend to deny that Gege created ambiguity in his relationship to Yuji, unlike people who deny that Megumi, literally thinking of Tsumiki, is proof that she is his type. 

I love subtext, but how much more canon can you get other than Megumi thinking of her when asked about his type?

Honestly, mental gymnastics discrediting Megumi’s type = Tsumiki are baffling to me. It’s not just about how she represents what he finds attractive in others (unwavering human) and that’s why he thinks of her, it’s also about the fact that people don’t think about their siblings when answering that question.

Does that mean Megumi might have a thing for Yuji too? I don’t see why not. But I personally think it’s platonic. Beautiful nonetheless--itafushi is a beautiful dynamic and I often wonder why I like megumiki better considering I like BL and yaoi, and we have little to go by in terms of the megumiki dynamic.

Personal preference I guess.

Another thing that is evidence that he likes her is how fierce he is about protecting her and how far he is willing to go for her. Maybe my brother sucks lol, but he would not act like that about me.

Also, I know Megumi wants to get Gojo out of the prison realm but... I have to say it looks to me more like he’s doing all of this for Tsumiki’s sake.

Anyways, I think Gege set up a nice paradox with Megumi and Tsumiki. Almost like he wants fans to be taken aback by the fact that they are step-siblings and may be attracted to each other.

GASP! The nerve! 

Of course, we’ve never seen Tsumiki from her own pov, or Megumi from Tsumiki’s pov, so we don’t know how she feels about him.

This is an rp with my partner that we called "Ghost is an Evil Henchman" as a placeholder name, before it stuck. (Henchman in a gender neutral type of way, all the vessels are genderless)

The RP mainly follows Quirrel and Hornet after they crashland on the beach. The rp is set in strictly the Sonic Boom universe, since thats the only one i watched and i think at the time the one my partner liked the most. This rp is based around a LOT of my fanon so if you want an explanation on that, you know where to ask ^_^ !

Sonic and Sticks finds the two of them. Quirrel and Tails IMMEDIATELY become bffs and make silly inventions together i love them. Meanwhile Hornet is having a lot of anger issues, especially directed at Quirrel. Now. I dont think me or mel ever talked about HOW they got there. Quirrel and Tails tried to question it, but never got rlly far and were just focused on how to get back.

So anyways. Ghost has a lot of issues that they cover up because they are "the Savior of Hallownest" and their sister needs help as the new queen with the survivors of the infection to build from the ground up again

Eggman, unintentionally, pushes on Ghosts insecurities that their sister doesnt truly like them. So they work for Eggman. And that almost spells out Sonics fate because its nearly canon that there is no enemy too powerful for Ghost. They are literally a God.

From what I remember, a bit happens after that. Quirrel finally breaks after Hornet yells at him again, calling her out because "You're not the only one who lost everything. You're not the only one who has had to kill your family. You are not the only survivor of the infection." My Quirrel fanon (aka, singed!quirrel) is one of my favorite side stories of mine. It has to do with his antennas, getting burned, almost assassinated.. yeah theres a lot

We kind of faded out of this rp, the last response to it was a hell of a while ago. We had plans such as meeting Hollow and Lost, and even having a fight between Shadow and Ghost where Shadow gets his ass handed to him and is like "okay, this is a problem." We had a scene planned where Ghost actually managed to stab Sonic, which finally made him realize Ghost was a genuine threat. I even secretly had an idea where Quirrel and Tails get kidnapped and Quirrel is trying to convince Ghost that Hornet still does love them and will not, in fact, murder them on sight (he is not successful)

In a new rp called Reflecting the Light, where both Hollow Knight and Sonic characters are present, we do occasionally get a conversation between Shadow and some of the vessels. Im pretty sure Shadow and The Hollow Knight talked at one point, but im not entirely sure.

All in all, Hollow Knight is a beautiful yet heartbreaking game. It's really hard, I still havent done the Path of Pain vecause i spent 5 hours on the White Palace and i am not emotionally ready to suffer through PoP. I havent even beaten NKG. TFATWS episode 1 rewatch commentary

The first scene was so beautiful. I loved that we didn't start directly with the fight sequence. It feels way closer to the quiet beginning of CATWS and I love it so much.

The title is also SO NEAT, music's on point too but hey it’s Henry Jackman the one thing I’m sure it’s going to be great overall is the score.

The choreography is AMAZING, really well shot. Sam shielding himself with only one wing was MA-JES-TIC.

Uhhmmmm I'm very ambivalent about the "Hail Hydra". On one hand, it was 100% fanservice and the internet is probably going to go insane over it, and the dead way Sebastian Stan delivered the line. Good shit. Buuut what I love about CATWS is the way Bucky never, ever ever, mouths Hydra rethoric, and even when Pierce tries to gaslight him with it, it's just an empty effort. The Winter Soldier isn't doing anything because of ideological loyalty to Hydra, even if it's product of brainwashing, it's just sheer dehumanization. They don’t need him to say the words because he’s just An Asset. There are people who have put it more eloquently but yeah, I rather go with the fanon interpretation of that aspect.

I’m running on 4 hours of sleep and coffee; let’s make a controversial post! Today’s topic: Fates/Awakening ships I hate!  :D

Preface: I’m not hating on anyone who ships these.  I’m also not saying you can’t/shouldn’t ship these.  I’m merely voicing why I dislike them, because I usually keep it all to myself and just feel like screaming into the void today.  So all of this is just my opinion, and you don’t have to take it seriously, okay? C:  Also, I don’t want to have to type “to me” after every opinion, so just take it as implied.

Now then, let’s begin.

Lonliss/Lon’qu-Lissa

Easily my biggest dislike on the list.  I will never, ever, ever understand why this is Owain’s most popular parentage.  Their supports weren’t all that great, and they are just so different from each other in ways that I think they would just clash.  I’ve seen people who ship it say, “He would be so supportive of Owain’s banter!  He would encourage his playfulness!”  And all I can think is, “Are we thinking of the same Lon’qu?  The one who’s stoic, doesn’t talk much, is very serious and grumpy?  That Lon’qu?”  He’s the token tsundere, sure, but I really don’t see him accepting Owain; I actually see the opposite.  I feel like Lissa and Owain’s upbeat personalities would grate on his nerves, to the point he’d find them both unbearably embarrassing.  Lissa and Lon’qu also just have MUCH BETTER ships/supports with other characters, and tbh, they both deserve better.  Lissa and Owain deserve someone who gels with their sunshine energy, and Lon’qu deserves a more reserved partner.  Of all Owain’s dad ships, Lonliss is the only one I truly cannot, “see,” and no explanation has made me able to, “see,” it as they both are in canon, and probably never will, tbh.  Every other Lissa ship, I can find some sort of merit, even if I don’t ship it, but when I look at Lonliss, there is just none.  No chemistry, no commonality, no anything that makes them a good couple.  Not in canon, anyway.  I’ve heard a ton of headcanons for it (I’m an Owain stan and this is quite literally his most popular dad, it’s very common), and fanon is fine and dandy, but when it bends canon too much, it just doesn’t sit well with me, and Lon’qu being any sort of okay with Lissa and Owain just bends canon too much, to me.  They’re too hyper, he’s too reserved.  As a final thought, I’m admittedly not a fan of any ship that takes Lissa and Owain away from Ylisstol, and Lon’qu (along with Donnel) does.  Their ending states they live in Ferox, and I just don’t like that.  I like Owain growing up alongside Lucina.  Also, Cynthia and probably Morgan would be in Ylisstol, and Owain canon has the Justice Cabal with them in his youth, so that’s kind of contradictory if he’s born and raised in Ferox.  (I also personally headcanon both Lissa and Owain hating the cold, tbh.  Odin has a line about hating the cold in Anna’s DLC in Fates, and I think Lissa mentions hating snow at some point, too, though I could be wrong.)

Owainigo/Laslodin/Owain-Brady

Grouping these together because I’m equally meh on both.  I can definitely see them, but I don’t like them.  Owain and Inigo do become bros, but I kind of feel like they would still squabble like petty children like their Awakening supports.  It’s more in a brotherly way, though; they start off teasing each other and end up in a slap-hands fight.  I like them as a friendship, just not a romantic ship.

Owain/Brady I have more trouble seeing because their only commonality is their mothers, and their supports make them seem like casual friends at best.  I feel like their mothers is a big part of why they’re shipped, tbh, which is just kind of :T for me.  I can see them if I squint, but it’s not a ship I care for.

The saddest thing is, look up anything spicy for Owain, you’re going to find one of these two in it.  Either these two or...

Odiniles/Leodin/Leotrio Threesome

Oh boy, here we go, SakuMo disliking another popular pairing(s).  Odin and Niles canonically bicker.  Like, they are nasty to each other.  Odin says as much in their A rank.  He says they should try to get along more, but I’m not really sure how well that would turn out.  To be honest, the only thing they really have in common is their loyalty to Leo.  Lacking that, they’re two wildly different people.  I’m not saying that different people can’t work as a couple--it happens all the time--but if you lack at least some common ground, it makes it really hard for a relationship to work.  Devotion to your master isn’t really much common ground.  Given their canon history, dramatically different personalities, and lack of common interests, I just don’t see them being compatible.  Every Odiniles fic I’ve ever read had Niles uncharacteristically understanding of Odin, to the point it didn’t even feel like Niles at all/he was very OOC.  One again, fanon is fine--you do you!--but bending canon too much and/or in ways that don’t make sense to the character is just not my scene.

Leodin is one that I can kind of see, definitely more than Odiniles, which in no way works in my head, but I’m just not a fan of it, generally.  My dislike isn’t as strong as with Odiniles, but it’s still there.  And I’ll just say that I am not into poly, don’t like OT3s, threesomes, etc., so that should sum up my feelings on the Leotrio as an OT3.

Odilise, Lazura, Selbaki, a.k.a. “The Oedipus Complex Ships”

Don’t make the Trio marry their moms, fam.  Odilise is the most egregious one, tbh, because Elise is so much like Lissa and it’s so, so creepy to ship her with Odin.  Never mind that canon Elise is supposed to be like...14-15 (I reject this canon and substitute my own hc of 18, but I digress), and though we don’t know how long the Trio is in Nohr before the start of Fates, we can assume anywhere from six months to a year or two considering they are well-established as retainers, so Odin is probably in his early 20s, at youngest maybe 20-21.  (Granted, using the canon ages makes a lot of ships suspect, especially with the younger characters, but I digress.)  I get that Elise is a good stat mom for Ophelia and gives the “canon” hair, but the ship itself is just problematic on a lot of fronts.  She’s basically his mom, their supports are playful but it def feels brotherly-sisterly (granted most of Elise’s supports do) and throws in the romance literally out of left field in the S rank, and they just look kind of suspect together, fam.  I have unfortunately in my travels across the internet for Owain content seen Odin/Elise porn, and the fact it makes me uncomfortable in a, “this looks really illegal,” way speaks volumes.  And again, yes, I know the same would be true for other ships with Elise, and it’s why there are few I actually like with her.  But Odin/Elise just in particular bothers me because like Lonliss, I see it the most, and it’s made me irrationally bitter toward it.  This one and Lonliss are my two, “hair-trigger rage,” ships.  I see either, I get really annoyed.  I don’t voice this, mind--I keep on scrolling and ignore the content--but it does make me grumpy, lol.  They’re the two I can honestly say I hate instead of just saying I dislike.

Selbaki is a bit lesser, but it basically makes Severa her own grandma, don’t do that. xD  Severa already has a complex with trying to be perfect like her mom, so making her feel the same not only for her husband but also her daughter is just cruel to her.  Give Severa a break, y’all.

Lazura is the least similar, admittedly, but it’s still in the same vein.  Performer marrying a performer.  Of the three, I can tolerate it the most, but it’s still not great for me.

Corrin/Any sibling, including Azura

Look, I get it.  Corrin is, by technicality, not blood-related to any of them, with the exception of Azura, who is their blood-related cousin.  H O W E V E R, just because they find out that they aren’t blood-related to the Nohr siblings doesn’t mean the familial bonds just go POOF.  The Nohr siblings would definitely not be like, “I guess we can bang Corrin now.”  If this were the case, adopted families would never “truly” bond because they aren’t related by blood.  Corrin growing up in Nohr means that they would most likely always see the Nohr siblings as family, and vice-versa.

Hoshido, on the other hand, is a bit trickier.  While it’s true they aren’t blood-related, I want to say Ryoma is the only one who knows?  Like, I think he’s the only one who brings it up in the S Support?  But lacking that, Corrin and the rest of the Hoshido siblings do think they’re blood-related.  Hidden Truths states that Corrin never learned the truth about their real father, nor that Lilith is their sister.  All 3 routes play out with the assumption that Sumeragi was Corrin’s father, and if it’s stated otherwise, it’s maybe only in the beginning as a throwaway line during the Mikoto section.  You could make a plausible argument that the Trio could tell Corrin the truth, since all 3 of them have heart-rank lines where they reveal their real names and that they’re from another world, but that’s leading into possible canon rather than actual canon (and is also why I hc it).  But for all intents and purposes, Corrin thinks they are blood-siblings with the Hoshido fam, so that would make them less likely to pursue them romantically.  And even if they knew, they still all all each other brother/sister.

Azurrin is the trickiest.  It’s only in Revelation that the connection between Arete, Azura’s mother, and Mikoto, Corrin’s mother, is made, afaicr, so in Birthright and Conquest, Corrin technically wouldn’t know they are cousins.  However, Azura would.  Azura always knew everything, because her mother told her about Valla and taught her the traditional song and such.  She most likely knew Mikoto was her aunt.  Even on the off chance she didn’t know, it would still be an awkward down the line thing when they find out they’re cousins.  I know Japan is more lenient on the whole cousin-marriage thing, but...don’t have Shigure and Kana coming out looking like the Habsburgs, please, I beg you, lol.

My rule of thumb: if two characters refer to each other as, “brother,” or, “sister,” at any point, don’t let them fuck.  xD

Kana/Any Romantic/Sexual Ship

Kana is a child.  Stop it.  Stop it right now.  They are a baby.  I’VE SEEN FICS, I KNOW IT EXISTS, YOU SICK FUCKS.  Even aged up feels a little awkward, but I can be a little bit more lenient on that.  I just never will.  Kana is asexual and aromantic in my eyes, lol.

Anyway:

Shaladin: any shipper who ships Shiro with one of the other paladins* (Keith, Lance, Hunk or Pidge). 

*Allura’s in a weird grey area because she was considered to be Space Mom & an adult up until her VA confirmed that she was a teenager. The Shiro/Allura shippers are heavily split between Shallurantis (antis who make excuses to ship it despite Allura being an “underaged teenager”), Shitllurans (a subset of shallurantis who are the worst of the worst & turned on any shaladins who tried to help them after Allura’s “age reveal” happened & Shallura became a “problematic ship”) & the actual Shallura shippers.

Anti: self-proclaimed name for fans who use social justice terms & a facade of fighting against online abuse/predators all so their favorite ship can win a ship war. Often harasses the staff of the canon or encourages harassment of the staff. Never calls out the abusive maniacs in their own community even if they commit actual crimes. Favors an overly fluffy sparkly pastel aesthetic for their blogs, trashy memes & sucking up to minor celebrities completely unrelated to the canon’s production in order to boost their own ship. Basically a fujoshi stereotype who accuses other shippers of being fujoshi stereotypes & refuses to acknowledge that they themselves are fujoshi stereotypes. Accuses other people of sexualizing minors while they themselves consume/create porn of their own ship (even if the characters are minors).

Klantis: antis who specifically ship Keith/Lance, aka Klance. They manage to keep their ship at its #1 spot on Fandometrics by spamming Klance & crosstagging it everywhere. Every time a rival ship creeps up the rankings, they double down on the spam & start a new wave of anti-ship harassment to discourage those shippers.

Leakira: AU made by klantis after s7 dropped & they realized that Klance would not be canon. It’s a “re-write” of Voltron where the supporters for Leakira actually believe that they can buy all the rights to Voltron in just 10 years. There is no plot or story, just an “lgbtq+ poc” version of the Voltron characters where they are “extra” POC & have “extra” POC names (Leandro for Lance & Akira for Keith). Broganes & Shiro/Adam are also things that feature in this AU & Pidge is “re-imagined” to be Jewish so she’s “more ethnic”, despite the fans accusing her Jewish voice actress to be a “white d*ke”. Shiro is re-named to be Hachiko & is now Keith/Akira’s adopted father & the only “straight” characters are the villains & the parents (because this is literally a strawman caricature of how life works). Akira & Leandro have nothing in common with Keith & Lance other than color themes & similar jokes. Their polar opposite personalities & relationship to their canon counterparts is another sign that klantis never truly cared about the characters or Voltron’s story in the first place.

Broganes: An AU where Shiro is Keith’s adoptive brother/father/uncle despite them having 2 entirely different families in canon. Named because of early fanon where Keith is Japanese & has the surname “Kogane” like in previous iterations of Voltron. Often buys into racist stereotypes regarding Asians & generic sitcom tropes regarding sibling relationships. Most often used to get Shiro away from Keith as a romantic interest so Keith can be shipped with Lance. Allura was paired with Shiro as “space mom”, but was later replaced with Adam. Keith is often characterized as a whiny emo younger brother who is bratty towards exasperated big brother Shiro & they pull pranks on each other (usually taken from lame Vines). They are also shown to be relatively uncaring of each other & distant, so that Lance can easily worm his way into Keith’s life as a boyfriend. AU first created by a 14 year old girl who’s obsessed with her sister, based the AU off of her idealized romanticized relationship with her sister & used to draw fanart for a R-18 Nitro+Chiral BL game (a company famous for games with gore, rape, bestialiaity, mechaphilia & general mindfuckery).

Dirty Laundry: the most popular & overrated Klance fic on ao3, often lauded to be the peak of Klance fics by klance shippers. Its popularity stemmed from popular klantis boosting it on their blogs only to shred it apart when DL’s Lance’s autistic brother appeared in it. The klantis ripped it apart for being racist, ableist, sexist, etc. & the author orphaned the fic after completing it due to the harassment she was getting from both sides (as shippers hated it too because of how hard the klance shippers were pushing it). Most infamous for a scene at the end where Keith & Lance danced to the song Gasolina, literally the least romantic song you could ever dance to. Popularized many of the tropes commonly seen in Klance fics. Was written before Lance was revealed to be Cuban, so DL has Mexican Lance instead.

i love complaining

this will be my post on how much i hate every variation of fanon lonce. yes lonce. he’s got the most stans. cant risk them finding my salt rn bc theyre VICIOUS.

anyways. i hate bp lonce. i hate altean lonce. i hate l/ngst. here are my reasons why i don’t like any of these.

1. bp lonce would completely butcher his character. he’s not a great leader. he’s got other things he’s good at, but not being a leader. here’s a further explanation on why him being the black paladin wouldn’t be good. cause y’all heard me complain about it a lot on my old blog.

2. altean lonce i don’t mind but i hate when they make him and allura like …. brother and sister. it’s kinda …. racist lol. especially to assume all brown people are related. allura is obviously black-coded and lonce is cuban canonly. like it’d just be …. really weird to be to portray them as siblings especially considering the fact he literally has a canon crush on her. THATS JUST REALLY WEIRD. if its separate from that then idk i dont care much. i just don’t like how everyone like ….. fawns over this concept because its sorta overrated.

3. l/ngst is constantly used to make his problems seem way bigger than they actually care. here’s a simple post on why hes not a tragic character. his stans constantly paint the others as mean people who bully him constantly. and like he cries in his lion All The Time. ( ???????  hes got problems but he’s pretty well managed with them y’all ). its frequently used to write shit on how lotor r*pes him ????? for the l/ngst ????????? and to ignore the trauma sh/ro, allura and keith go through. i’m sorry in canon he’s pretty compassionate, but its clear he’s also fairly ignorant to trauma. thats? not bad? he doesnt have to fully understand everything? because nontrauma survivors won’t really be able to grasp trauma survivors? it’s not bad? idk why everyone thinks its like terrible that anyone portrays him in canon light and displays his actual ignorance to what the others went through? its okay? yall fuckin weird?

also like …. i wish people would apply more leo traits to him noah fence. he’s a classic fucking leo ( minus the fact hes not actually a good leader ) and it’d be interesting characterization to play him as … we are shown.

What do you think about this whole "anti culture" on tumblr? I understand disliking something and criticizing something, but anti culture is more than that-it's constantly hating on smh, it's trying to make people who like it feel bad, it's trying to claim some moral superiority (like "canon vs fanon", "my ship's purer/better than yours", "I ship problematic ship (PS) myself, but lecture others for shipping other PSs", etc.), it's sending hateful anons etc. It exists in almost every fandom.

I... have a lot of mixed feelings.  Obviously I have no issue with being argumentative (lol I answered a couple of anons in an argumentative manner today) but to me there’s debating and there’s actively seeking trouble and I’d prefer to stay out of that PERSONALLY because while I have a ton of opinions I consider some opinions more important to me than others.  Like, do I love every ship that comes across my dash?  Not at all.  There are many I loathe.  But it’s really not worth my time or energy to bitch about it.  I do. Oh, I do.  But most of the time that involves me messaging or texting my mutuals/friends privately.  I was more into being super loud about my fandom opinions a few years ago, but now I’d prefer to write a super fucking long essay that I’ve thought about for a bit vs. just dashing off a three-sentence post every few hours.  I also feel like I do a lot more of my talking in my tags, and that’s more private on Tumblr, you know?

I do think there are some incredibly problematic ships out there.  I ship some.  BACK IN MY DAY--and anyone who’s followed me for a long time knows this--I was like... the resident Incest Shipper.  I had about three or four sibling ships I just kinda circulated.  Obviously I abhor incest irl, but it was a problematic thing I shipped, and I still have some of those ships though incest isn’t popular on TV as it was a while back lmao and thus there is less for me to ship.  But the thing is that though I shipped these ships, I never romanticized them.  I recognized them as fucked up.  My canonical ending for most of them in my head was “they all die”.  I didn’t think it was okay.  I didn’t want anyone to run off together or *coughsaveWesteroscough*.  I called out my own problematic-ness and basically acknowledged that a lot of my interest in these ships was based on a) hot actors b) chemistry and c) my own interest in tragic ships and what is more tragic than people who can never and should never be together and will probably end up dead?

I do think there are limits.  Because the way we view fiction does reflect the way we view real life, and I think that if you are not shipping consenting adults with consenting adults, you are not in good territory.  Any ship that involves pedophilia, I don’t think you can defend with “it’s fiction, I know it’s wrong!” because there are plenty of kids on the internet who can fall prey to being groomed if they get involved in fandoms that are down and chill and groovy with pedophilia-related ships, and also that’s just... beyond.  Like, if the actors playing people you are shipping are an adult and a child, that is a real fucking child you’re sexualizing right there.  I don’t feel like I can explain the wrongness of this in comparison to other things, and it shouldn’t have to be explained.  It also, frankly, is a part of a very big issue online rn which involves children being groomed through subliminal messaging, not by anyone outright being like “want a candy bar little girl”.

There’s also an element of me that says... whatever.  Sure, you might get your feelings hurt because people are calling you out on shipping weird shit, but maybe you should.  If it’s perpetuating harmful ideas, if you’re writing fanfic that involves rape or a number of other fucked up shit that I see on here... be prepared to get called out.  Back when I shipped Cesare/Lucrezia on The Borgias, I think I was pretty tame, but I still got anon hate and I just kind of was like “yep figured I would anyway moving on”.  Buck up, buttercup.  Tbh, there is much worse than some of the hate I’ve seen people receive on here that they freak out over.  Much worse off your computer, to be exact.  And it’s not fair, maybe, but you should probably be prepared for that.  For me, nothing on here can be as bad as my real life has been for the past few months lol.  That’s not even the worst that my life has been, and many people have it 10000000000000000% worse than I do.  I think you do need to have a thick skin on here, because not everyone will agree with you and there will always be toxicity in fandoms.

But what is an “anti”, really?  Is it someone that disagrees with you?  We’re all against something, you know.  Obviously the biggest anti thing I see is anti-r*ylo, and I don’t super like that ship either though I don’t care enough to express my opinion.  Or anti-j*nerys, which I have expressed my opinion about a good bit.  Everyone has a problematic ship, but I think the issue that “antis” have with those ships is the weird cultishness around them, the insistence that they MUST be canon (when canon is hardly the end all be all) and the fact that they’ve sort of taken over large chunks of the fandom.  I follow “antis”, and I’ve seen people for their ships be twice as vicious as they’ve ever been.  People claiming moral superiority are hardly the only ones sending hateful anons.

Also, you can indeed shut anon off and if it’s a problem you should probably do that.

My opinion is basically: that sucks, check yourself and your own behavior if people call you out, some will be right about your own issues and maybe you can fix that, but also some will just be assholes to be assholes.  And while fandom is usually based around fiction that somehow reflects reality, as all fiction does, it’s not real.  That’s so important to remember.  It’s not real.

I think the Silm one I have most TROUBLE with—not hate, but like, find sort of baffling as a narrative insert—is Finrod x the entire House of Bëor, or Finrod fucking generation after generation of vassals as some kind of ritual marriage-to-the-sea thing. I joke about not being able to multiship but it’s MOSTLY separate from my Finrod/Andreth thing—Finrod/Andreth actually gains some amazing fridge horror dimensions with that headcanon, considering how actively he disapproves of her and his brother—but no, I just… dislike it. It squicks me, I guess. Don’t know that I have a “competing headcanon” here: maybe just that Finrod is both less and more invested in the House of Bëor than that hc seems to imply. I think his interactions with the family were a lot more sporadic, less complacent and established, in a certain way, and also that it really wasn’t any kind of Project, for him—they were largely self-ruled and he depended on them as allies, you know? It wasn’t his ant farm. SORRY I DON’T KNOW WHY I REACT SO STRONGLY AGAINST THIS ONE if you’re reading this and you ship Finrod/Barahir or whatnot I promise I understand the concept of “fun,” in theory

I uhhhh DIFFER from people about Feanor and his half-siblings’ childhoods, I don’t think they grew up in one household and I think Feanor was probably almost an adult before Findis was born, but that’s not a “hate” at all, I love prickly sibling fluff. I have complicated feelings about super positive portrayals of Nerdanel and Feanor’s marriage, not because I don’t think it was ever a good relationship but because the bit about her naming the twins in the Shibboleth makes her sound so utterly walled-off, and at a point quite early on the timeline relative to when we think of The Feanor Situation Disintegrating; however that’s extracanonical, so it’s not like everyone should need or want to take that into account… I guess it’s more like, sometimes I get frustrated with Nerdanel portrayals that insist on strength as a kind of imperviousness, as though no one’s ever been strong-willed and totally overwhelmed. Which is defs personal taste. Also I don’t like when she acts as a mediator between the two sides of Finwë’s family/her estrangement from Feanor is defined entirely in terms of her ‘going over to the enemy’ and hanging out with Indis and whoall; I think Nerdanel’s allegiances are very strongly to her own family, by which I mean, her and Mahtan, and if anything it was Feanor trying to make himself part of their self-contained world for a while there. Like, I’ve always taken her living with Indis when Feanor goes to Formenos, not as a sign that the divorce has gone through, but as a sign that she’s still against her better judgment leaving open the possibility of a reconciliation, acting as his wife and a ‘daughter of the house of Finwë’ rather going back to Aulë’s halls—although god knows whether Feanor took it that way.

What else. Sorry, I feel like there are fanons I actually hate a lot more that I’ve just erased from my memory out of loathing. Also I hope you wanted Tolkien things because I’m barely conversant in most other fandoms’ speculative cloud cover.
