Tumblr media
It was a rainy day, and you were in the living room, reading a book, while your mother was busy cooking in the kitchen. The rhythmic patter of raindrops against the windows filled the air when suddenly, the door opened. You looked up and saw your older brother Jay entering with another guy you didn't recognize. They both stepped inside, shaking off the rain and carefully removing their shoes before proceeding further into the house.
"Mom, I'm home!" your brother shouted as he sat on the sofa with his friend. Your mother came into the living room and said, "Oh, you're home! And who's this?" She smiled at the guy. The guy stood up and bowed. "Hello, Mrs. Park. I'm Lee Heeseung, Jay's classmate," he said with a warm smile. "What a polite kid. You should be like that too, Jay," she joked.
"Okay, I'll go back to cooking. Make Heeseung feel at home, okay?" she said, walking back to the kitchen. You nodded and turned back to the living room. Your brother called out to you, "Hey, loser," and you looked up at him. He was smiling and holding out a cup of milk tea. "I got you boba," he said, his smile widening.
You couldn't help but smile back. You stood up from the couch and walked over to Jay, who handed you the milk tea. As you took it, you glanced over at Heeseung and your eyes met. Heeseung gave you a warm smile, and you felt your cheeks red.
Tumblr media
Years have passed, and Heeseung has started coming to your house more often. Whenever you two make eye contact, your face turns as red as a tomato. One day, as you are lost in thought, staring at Heeseung for what feels like an eternity, your brother notices and teases you, "You okay, loser? You've been staring at Heeseung for a minute now." His eyes remain focused on the game as his fingers deftly manipulate the controller. Startled by the sudden realization, you stammer, "Uh, yeah, I am. Sorry." Feeling embarrassed, you awkwardly walk away and head to the kitchen to compose yourself.
*Slams locker* "My God, Y/N, you've been drooling over Heeseung for years now, but you won't admit it," your friend says with a smirk, leaning against the row of lockers. You sigh, feeling a mix of frustration and embarrassment. "I know, but he's my brother's best friend. He probably sees me as a little sister," you reply, your voice tinged with resignation as you continue walking through the crowded school hallway.
Your friend shakes their head, clearly not convinced. "Still, you never know unless you try. Maybe he sees you differently now."
Just as you're about to respond, you hear a familiar voice call out, "Hey, Y/N!" You stop in your tracks and turn around, your heart skipping a beat. There, walking towards you with his hands casually tucked into his pockets, is Heeseung. He has that easy smile on his face that always makes your stomach having a war inside.
Your friend nudges you with a knowing grin. "Speak of the devil. Go talk to him. I'll catch up with you later." She gave you a little shove in Heeseung's direction before disappearing into the sea of students.
Trying to steady your nerves, you plaster on a smile and wait for Heeseung to reach you. "Oh hey" you say, hoping your voice doesn’t betray how flustered you feel.
"Hey, Y/N," he says, stopping in front of you. "Your brother will be late today, and he asked me to drive you home after school since I'll be at your house anyway, waiting for him."
"Okay! I'll see you at the school garden after class," you say, holding back your smile.
"Sounds great, see ya," he replies before walking away.
"God, there's a whole zoo in my stomach right now," you tell yourself.
You and your friends were walking out of the campus when one of them said, "Oh hey y/n, are you coming with us?" Another chimed in, "Yeah y/n? There's a new tteokbokki shop open down the street!" Before you could respond, a voice interrupted, "Hey y/n, ready to go?" You all turned to see Heeseung walking towards you with his hands in his pockets.
"God y/n! You didn't tell us you have a handsome boyfriend," Sunoo exclaimed, his jaw dropping to the floor. You didn't reply, captivated by Heeseung's beauty. As Heeseung reached you, he looked at your friends and said, "Hey, you guys must be y/n's friends, right?" He smiled as he took your backpack off your shoulder.
You snapped out of your reverie, shaking your head slightly. "Stop assuming and no, he's not my boyfriend, And yes, these are my friends, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Shin," you said, introducing them to Heeseung who smiled warmly at each of them. "So you're single?" Sunoo teased, nudging you playfully. You shot him a look and lightly hit his shoulder, silently telling him to stop. Heeseung chuckled at the playful banter. "Yeah, I am," Heeseung replied, his smile widening as he glanced back at you.
"We're about to go eat, you wanna come with us?" Jungwon asked, heeseung smiled "sure" he replied.
As you all walked, your friends were chatting animatedly ahead of you, leaving you and Heeseung to walk together side by side. Heeseung glanced over at you, breaking the silence. "So your friends thought I was your boyfriend?" he teased, a smirk playing on his lips. "Shut up," you replied with a playful punch to his chest, both of you chuckling softly. "Where did Jay go though?" you asked, curiosity evident on your face. "Hmm, secret~" Heeseung teased back, a mischievous glint in his eyes. You rolled your eyes but couldn't help but smile at his playful demeanor.
As you entered the tteokbokki shop, your friends quickly found a table. Shin grabbed a menu and started browsing. "So, what will you guys want?" she asked, flagging down a passing waiter. "I'll have two orders of tteokbokki, chicken wings, and a beer," you said decisively, scanning the menu with a grin. Heeseung looked at you with a raised eyebrow. "Why are you drinking beer?" he asked. "I'm not a minor anymore, you know," you retorted, meeting his gaze confidently.
"Cancel the beer," he said firmly, catching the waiter's attention. As the waiter adjusted the order, you glared at Heeseung. "Hey, why did you do that?" you protested, lightly hitting his shoulder. "I'll get killed by your brother if I let you drink," he explained, crossing his arms. "He won't know if you won't tell him!" You roll your eyes.
While eating, you noticed Heeseung was solely focused on the tteokbokki and hadn't tried any of the other dishes on the table. Curious, you picked up a piece of chicken and held it out to him. "Try this," you urged, waiting for him to take a bite. "Do I really have to?" he teased, looking at you with a playful glint in his eyes. "Just do it," you replied, playfully impatient. Heeseung finally relented and took a bite of the chicken. His expression softened into a smile. "Tastes good," he admitted, surprising you by grabbing your hand to take another bite of the chicken.
As you all walked out of the shop, your friends thanked Heeseung for treating them to the meal. "We should get going, it's kinda late" Sunoo suggested, breaking the moment. "Good luck to both of you, then, I mean stay safe" Shin teased with a mischievous grin.
"Oh, shut up," you replied with an eye roll, playfully nudging Shin. Despite the teasing, you couldn't hide the slight blush on your cheeks from the meaningful glance exchanged between you and Heeseung.
While walking with him, you saw a claw machine. You ran toward it and inserted a coin as Heeseung followed you. "Like plushies, hm?" he asked, crossing his arms beside you. You mumbled in response, too focused on getting the plushie from the claw machine.
"OH, FUCK THIS CLAW MACHINE!" you yelled, kicking it in frustration.
"Yoyo, chill. I'll get it for you," he said, moving closer. As he took your hand and you both controlled the joystick together, your heart started beating faster. It felt like your world was about to explode.
While he was focused on the claw machine, you decided to look at his face. "He's so handsome," you whispered to yourself. You didn't realize that he had already won a prize; you were too distracted by his beauty. He looked at you, and for a moment, you both just stared at each other.
The eye contact broke when Heeseung's phone started ringing. He took it out of his pocket and turned around to answer the call. You crouched down, retrieved the plushie from the claw machine, and smiled. It was a hamster plushie, and you thought to yourself how much it resembled Heeseung.
After Heeseung finished the call, he returned to you and looked at the plushie you were holding. "Happy now?" he asked, smiling.
"Mhm, yes, thank you!" you replied, smiling back at him before looking at the plushie again.
"By the way, your brother will be staying for an extra two days because his girlfriend wants to spend some time with him for... some stuff. I don't really know the details," he said.
"Oh okay. Uhhh... Heeseung, can I take a picture of you with the plushie? You kinda look like it!" you said, readying your camera.
"Sure, why not?" he laughed.
You tried to reach Heeseung's cheeks to put the plushie beside his face, but he was a bit taller than you. "Uh, mind bending down? I'm literally 5'6 here!" you said, glaring at him.
He chuckled and bent down so you could place the plushie beside his face. 'Click.' "Cute!" you said, looking at the photo and smiling.
You and Heeseung went inside your house, glad to be out of the rain. Since your parents were away for a month for work, the house was empty, and you had it all to yourselves.
"I'll get going already," Heeseung replied softly.
"But the rain is pouring really hard outside. Are you sure you want to leave?" you asked, concern evident in your voice. "It's late and really unsafe out there. You could stay in Jay's room."
You smiled reassuringly at him, and he returned the smile. "Alright, fine, I'll stay," he agreed, slipping off his shoes.
"I'll go take a quick hot shower," you said, and Heeseung nodded, settling onto the couch and switching on the TV to play games.
After taking a nice hot shower, you stepped out and went to the living room to call Heeseung. "Hey, Heeseung, it's your turn to take a bath," you told him as he put down the controller and looked at you for a moment. Heeseung's jaw almost dropped as he saw you with your wet hair, a fitted crop top (which you often wore at home), and short shorts. He stared at you momentarily when you called his name.
"You okay, Hee?" you asked as water dripped from your hair. He finally snapped out of his daze when he heard you calling. "Uh, yes. Can you lend me some towels?" he asked, standing up.
"Sure, wait," you replied, heading upstairs to grab some towels and a pair of comfortable clothes for Heeseung. While he took a bath, you were in the kitchen, eating bread and milk, scrolling through Instagram.
After Heeseung finished his bath, you both retired to separate rooms for the night. However, you couldn't sleep due to fear of the thunder outside, causing you to shake under your blanket. Normally, you would seek comfort by sleeping with your mom, but your parents weren't home, leaving you unable to sleep. Finding yourself in front of Jay's room, you knocked softly. Heeseung opened the door with sleepy eyes, seeing you holding your pillow.
"I can't sleep, I'm scared of the thunder," you said fearfully, pouting slightly.
"Oh, come sleep with me then," Heeseung replied, opening the door wider so you could enter. As you stepped inside, you immediately lay down on the bed, hugging your pillow. Heeseung chuckled softly, finding you cute as he lay down beside you. Despite his presence, you were still shaking in fear from the loud thunder outside.
Heeseung opened his arms invitingly. "You know I don't mind comforting you?"
"Are you sure?" you asked with a shaky voice.
"Mhm, yes, come on now," he reassured you. You wrapped your arms around his back as you rested your head on his chest. Gradually, you started to feel more comfortable as he began rubbing your back soothingly, helping to calm your nerves.
In the morning, you woke up with Heeseung's arm wrapped around your waist. He felt warm and cuddly, just as you had felt last night. As you pushed yourself back to get a bit more comfortable, he wrapped one leg around yours. However, as you adjusted yourself a bit, you suddenly felt that Heeseung was hard.
Heeseung woke up feeling his boxers were sticky, and he realized he was hugging you. "Omg, I'm sorry, Yn!" He stood up and bowed. "Do you want me to help you?" You asked him innocently. Heeseung already knows what you meant. "Uhm, what are you talking about?" he asked nervously. "I mean, s-sure if you don't mind," he said as he lay down. You carefully removed his pants and looked at him, eyeing him that your gonna take of his boxers. As you remove his boxers you saw his dick was hard, those veins popping out, precum in his slit, his pinkish mushroom tip, you dreamed about this already.
You start pumping up and down making heeseung moaning your name, you start to rub your thumb over his slit making him grab the bed sheets. You opened your mouth and licked his tip.
"Ahh Yn faster please" he begs, you know he was close already. You start to pump faster while sucking his balls, after a second he cummed in your hand and face, making him moan loud.
He realized he had made a mess and got up, visibly embarrassed. "I'm sorry, y/n, I didn't mean to" he apologized sheepishly. As you licked the remnants of the mess from your hand "yum" you look at him.

[DP x DC fic]
[Love at first... murder? - part 11]
<< Prev | Next >>
Part 1
Ao3
---
Their first stop was a small café near Robinson Park; Alysia's Boba Bar & Café. After each of them had placed their order, with Jason paying, saying it was ‘his treat’ and that ‘he had promised he’d be the one paying earlier’, they took their food outside.
They did get some stares from the customers and employees, mainly aimed at Jason who’s wearing his Red Hood gear, but they just ignored them minus some intimidation from Jason from afar.
Though, Jason wasn’t quite sure if Danny actually ignored them or just blatantly didn’t even notice them.
Either way, they were currently sitting on a bench in the park. Jason had taken his helmet off and put it next to him so that he could eat, still wearing his domino mask anyway. He’s also still wearing the watch Danny had gifted him.
And he’s never taking that off, holy shit he loves it so much.
Danny is sipping on the leftovers of his boba, having already scarfed down his sandwich. Jason starts his tour, telling him about Robinson Park and pointing out Gotham Zoo right next to it.
After they’re both done with their food, Jason puts his helmet back on and they get back onto his motorcycle so he can point out important landmarks while driving around.
Jason and Danny proceed to chat a bit during the ride as well, just some basic stuff to get to know one another; favorite color, favorite food, how they would disarm someone with a gun and de-escalate the situation, opinions on otters and how they hold onto each other so they don’t drift away, favorite movies, etc.
And Jason is desperately trying to focus on driving instead of Danny’s arms wrapped around his waist from behind.
---
"Over there is the Iceberg lounge."
Danny’s gaze follows where Jason is pointing, falling on a big two-story building with a sign on the outside reading ‘Iceberg Lounge’.
"It's a nightclub owned by the Penguin, one of Batman’s rogues. It’s mainly just a front for his criminal activities, but the nightclub itself is actually pretty good to be fair. Bit posh though"
---
"See that big tower in the middle there? That's Wayne Tower. It's basically the office building of Wayne Enterprises, the company owned by Gotham’s very own multi-millionaire Bruce Wayne." Red Hood says, sarcasm dripping off of his words at the end.
Danny lets out a small non-committal hum.
“You don’t sound too fond of him” Danny inquiries curiously.
“I’m not“ Red Hood states, not elaborating in the slightest.
Danny tries to lighten the mood a little “Well, as long as he doesn’t try to adopt me I guess he’s still better than another millionaire I know.”
Danny smiles as he hears Red Hood laugh.
---
"Over there’s Gotham City Public Library. It’s one of my favorite places in the city. I tend to go there at least once a week. They’ve got a ton of books and are willing to order any they don’t have at request. There’s also some computers there that are free for public use."
"You like reading?" Danny asks curiously.
"Mhmm. I'm mainly in the classics like Charles Dickens, Lewis Carroll, Jane Austen, Mary Shelley, etc."
“Oh, nice. I don’t usually read much. English was basically my worst subject at school, but the teacher was pretty good. Kind of ended up being one of the only ones in my corner and he really tried his best, y’know?”
“He sounds pretty nice. Is there a reason you haven’t read much, like lack of interest or…?” Jason trails off questioningly.
Danny shrugs “I guess I never really had the time as a teenager, with an added lack of motivation on top. And now… I guess I don’t really know what kind of books I’d like or where I should start.”
“I could recommend you some? If you want me to?”
“Sure, that’d be nice”
---
"The large building over there is Arkham Asylum. It's basically a psychiatric hospital. Batman dumps all of his rogues here, though they keep breaking out."
"Oh yeah, I’ve heard of this place. My older sister applied to work here"
"Dr. Jasmine Fenton?" Jason questions, even if he was already pretty sure who Danny was referring to.
"Mhmm,” Danny nods, “she recently gained her doctorate and wants to be a psychiatrist at Arkham"
"... I wish her good luck" Is the response Jason decides on.
"I’m sure she can do it" Danny proclaims, somehow embodying the :D smiley face.
Jason considers the possibility of her having similar meta powers to her brother and decides that if she does she'll probably be fine.
Not to mention she has Danny in her corner… And Red Hood now as well.
---
"What's that building over there?" Danny asks as they're driving on one of the roads on the outskirts of the main part of the city.
Jason looks at where he's pointing, spotting the manor.
"That's Wayne Manor. Do you remember that millionaire I mentioned earlier? The one that owns Wayne Tower and WE? That's where he lives."
Danny sounds a little surprised as he asks "He lives in that huge building? All by himself?"
"Well, not really. He has some kids, most of whom are adopted though you wouldn’t believe the field day the press had when it was found out he had a biological son. Besides them, he also has a butler that lives at the manor”
Once again, it seems Danny has noticed Jason’s standoffish attitude at Wayne, as he tries to lighten the mood a little.
"That manor is still way too big for all of them. Like what are they doing with all of that space? Are they hiding something? I bet they have a huge secret basement underneath the manor with some kind of laboratory and some shit. Millionaires seem to love those."
Jason lets out a surprised laugh at how on-the-nose Danny is, making Danny grin at his successful attempt to lighten the mood a little. Though it makes him question for a little bit…
He doesn’t know, right? Or does he…
"You know, I think the manor is actually missing something" Danny speaks up again.
"Oh? And what’s that?" Jason asks with humor in his tone.
"It would look way better TPed" Danny states confidently, bearing a mischievous grin.
Jason barks out a laugh, a sharp grin on his face.
"Let's save that for the next date, Doll"
Danny lets out a slightly giddy laugh, his cheeks red and heart beating just a little faster at both the 'next date‘ part and the unexpected, but not unwelcome, nickname.
---
“And this,” Jason says, as he gestures proudly towards the streets around them, “is Crime Alley, which is my turf in this city. I’m the one protecting this place.”
Jason had brought Danny to Crime Alley as the last stop on their date.
“Oh yeah!” Danny speaks up. “I was wondering about that!”
Jason turns to him questioningly and Danny takes it as a sign to continue.
“Yeah so, why is it called crime alley?” he asks curiously with a tilt of his head.
Say what now?
Jason takes a deep breath.
“Are you serious?” Jason asks genuinely curious, gesturing at the drug deal taking place behind them, the mugger that’s running past, and towards the right where gunshots can clearly be heard.
To his credit, Danny doesn’t falter at all, giving Jason a smile and continuing.
“Yeah, I thought it was called Park Row or something like that. Did it get renamed?”
Jason closes his eyes and pinches the bridge of his nose before letting out a strained “Something like that…”
He takes another deep breath before looking back at Danny, who’s still looking at him with a bright smile.
“Is there really no reason you can think of why this place would get nicknamed crime alley? Not one reason at all? None?”
A small explosion sounds and some metal shrapnel falls in little pieces around them. A car tire rolls past. Danny and Jason don’t look away from one another.
Danny ‘grew up with mad scientist parents, an OSHA-violating lab in the basement, fighting ghosts, causing property damage, evading ghost police, fighting a king, is pretty certain his parents have been committing some kind of tax evasion for their research funding, etc., etc. though none of that was really an excuse as his friends and sister didn’t turn out quite as blind to danger as him.’ Fenton thinks about it for barely a second before shrugging.
“No, not really. Why?”
“This is where the Joker attacked you.” Jason tries pointing out, causing Danny to take a good look around them.
“Oh, that’s right! I was wondering why this place looked so familiar! I gotta say, it looks different in the daylight. But I mean, that attack could’ve happened anywhere, couldn’t it? What’s so special about this place?”
God, how can he be so smart yet so stupid?
Now is really not the time to kiss him, Jason.
“It’s… just a nickname, given to the district by the Gothamites. Poverty runs rampant and the crime rates here are… above average, let’s say, when compared to the rest of Gotham. Only old rich folks still call it Park Row” Is what Jason decides to say.
“So yeah, it’s probably best if you try to avoid this place, especially at night. Though God knows you can handle yourself, considering the way you went at the Joker” Danny snorts at the innuendo.
“It’s still better to be safe than sorry and keep away from this place, unless you’re with me. The people around here know better than to mess with me and the people I’m with, so there’s no need to worry.”
“Hmmm, are you sure the crime rates are higher here?”
On their left, a guy dressed in a gray hoodie with suspicious dark red stains on it runs at a car, gets in, and drives off as fast as he can with the car alarm still going off.
“Yes.”
“Oh, okay! I’ll try to keep that in mind then”
God have mercy.
---
Red Hood had driven them back to Danny’s apartment after their date in order to drop him off. Meanwhile, Danny is still not quite over the fact that he can actually call it a date!
After they both get off of the motorcycle, Red Hood walks him the few feet to the front door of his apartment building, and it’s time for them to say goodbye again.
Do they kiss now? Or should he wait till the next date?
Danny really wants to kiss him right now.
But he’s wearing his helmet so it would be awkward as fuck.
Especially if he had to ask Red Hood to take it off.
No, Danny can’t do that. Just no, he’d have his second death, this time of embarrassment instead of electricity. It’s some variation at least?
“See you later, —”
Danny cuts himself off with a not-so-subtle fake cough, cheeks heating up in embarrassment at what he was about to say. He had almost let out another cringy animal-themed goodbye, just like last time.
Great going, Fenton. Despite not going for the kiss, he still managed to almost fuck it up.
It’s like he’s digging himself a bigger hole by the minute.
Red Hood stops walking and pauses. Seeing this, Danny lowers his head to stare at the ground, his body stiff.
---
Jason can’t quite believe he’s doing this, and if any of the bats heard him, he’d never hear the end of it. But… to put Danny at ease…
“Take Care, Polar Bear”
The sentence makes Danny snap his head back up immediately. His mouth is slightly open, as though he’s trying to come up with something to say and failing.
Not waiting for Danny to answer him, Jason starts moving towards his motorcycle again.
Danny, with his cheeks still slightly red, stares at the leaving figure of Red Hood. His gaze is full of adoration, as he just falls a little deeper for the helmed vigilante.
Jason is thankful the helmet obscures Danny’s view of his blushing face as he gets on his motorcycle. He gives one last wave to Danny before revving the engine and leaving for his apartment.

Blake: your mentor got you this?
Jaune: yeah it was a gift after I completed my training, but despite it all I wear his family crest on it to show my thanks to him and to honor my mentor
**Suddenly Weiss interrupted**
Weiss: if that’s so, what’s this art piece supposed to indicate mhm~
**she said in a teasing tone as they all looked at the side of Jaune’s Starfighter wing and saw a pin up spray paint art piece of Yang**
Tumblr media
youtube
**everyone looked at the pin up with blushes, some covered their mouths and some looked at Jaune with a cheeky smirk, but Yang mostly was looking at it in embarrassment but also a little bit happy on the inside seeing Jaune still thinking of her when he’s away**
Yang: J-Jaune WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!?!
Jaune: now Yang come on I can explain
Nora: so fearless leader got a sexy mascot to show off to the galaxy huh
Jaune: NORA!
Pyrrha: my goodness Jaune I didn’t think you’d do that and by yangs reaction you didn’t even get her permission, how deviant of you
Jaune: Pyrrha it’s not what y-
Yang: how could you Jaune! (She said blushing harder)
Jaune: Yang please it is just a pi
Yang: how could you get my Signature Wrong!!
RWB(Y) & JNPR:…….Huh???
**they all said in confusion**
Yang: if you wanted me to be your pin up you should have had me sign it!
Jaune:…..umm…ok I’m sorry?….I guess?
Yang: good but I’ll forgive you under one condition
Jaune: what?
Yang: if you take me for a ride in it first before everyone else
**she said tapping her fingers together and making a pouty face along while doing it**
Jaune: (Giggles) sure thing babe
**he said as he pulls her in for a kiss and her soon accepted his apology from the kiss and his promise**
Nora: can I blow up a Cabbage Stand with it now!
Ren: why a Cabbage Stand?!
Blake: you really wanna ask her that question Ren?
Nora: Well my beautiful Ren Ren, it’s because in every universe there is a Cabbage man who yells “No! My Cabbages!!” It’s a universal thing Ren Ren~💕
Ren: What?
Nora: I WANNA BLOW SHIT UP!!
Ruby: ME TOO!! I WANNA BLOW SHIT UP!!
Ren: NORA NO!!!

You let out a yawn as the school bell chimed, signaling the end of after school clubs and tutoring sessions. You lazily stretched and watched as the other club members gathered their bags and talked about their plans for the weekend. You pulled out your phone, scrolling through missed messages.
“Bye, Y/N-chan~!” called one of the club members. “See you Monday.”
“Yeah, bye~.” you waved as the last club member left.
You went back to your phone. Trying to catch up on your texts before the teachers started circulating. Your phone buzzed, signaling that you got a new message. You opened the text and smiled softly.
‘Did you already go home? (ó﹏ò。)’
Giggling, you text back.
‘Nope. I’m still packing up. I’ll meet you by the gate.’
Ever since you were children, Asahi Haruka had been by your side through thick and thin. You both grew up next door neighbors, attended the same schools, and shared so many memories that you can’t even imagine going a day without him. Asahi is the embodiment of a golden retriever with bright colored hair – adorable, affectionate, and endlessly optimistic. His infectious laughter is like music to your ears, and his boundless energy is like a puppy touching grass for the first time.
However, there was something undeniably magical about the transition from friends to something more. You two are dating. And both of you are complete idiots for each other. Asahi Haruka had stolen your heart completely.
You don’t know when you started having feelings for Haruka, but you can’t imagine a world without him. It sounds cliché, like it came out of a crappy Lifetime movie, but before either of you knew it you had become each other’s confidants. Sharing small touches, talking about your hopes, dreams, and fears, sneaking kisses in your room. By the time you reached high school, you both confessed. At the same time. You could always read his mind and he could read you like a book. It was as if you were two halves of the same whole, inseparable and bound by an unbreakable bond.
He’s your sun.
Just as you were finished packing and about to stand up, two soft hands covered your eyes and the scent of sweet cologne made you smile.
“Guess who~?” called a voice, a slight mischievous giggle practically giving him away.
You feigned a gasp. “Oh woah! Who could it be?”
You formed a mischievous plan of your own. Time for your favorite activity: teasing your boyfriend.
You hummed. “Judging by the six rings on each hand, it must be Kuro-kun!”
“Bzzt! Wrong!” said the voice. You could tell he was pouting slightly. “You better be joking! Try again!”
“Of course I’m joking!”
“Then, guess my name!” the voice said cheerfully.
“Hmm~, is it… Lina-chan?”
“Wrong again!”
“Oh! I got it now! This is definitely Kou-kun!”
“Nuh-uh!”
“Totally gotta be Haru.”
“Noooo~!!”
“Well, with whining like that, it must be Tsumiko-kun!”
“N/N-chaaaaaan~!”
You couldn’t hold back your laughter. Teasing Haruka was not only easy, but incredibly funny. Even with his fingers and rings pressed to your eyes, you could tell he was pouting up a storm. You tenderly stroked his fingers and laughed again in feigned revelation.
“Oooh! It’s you, Haruka~.” You removed his hands from your eyes and looked up at him with a smile. “I knew it was you.”
Staring up at your boyfriend, you could clearly see that you were right and he was pouting super hard. You kissed his hand and his pout melted into a silly grin. Yet, his eyes still held a grudge.
“N/N-chan! That was really mean…” he pouted. “You shouldn’t call your boyfriend another guy’s name.”
You giggled, leaning forward in your seat. “I’m sorry. I couldn’t help it. You’re just too cute when I tease you.”
Haruka blushed. You finished packing up your things and stood up from your chair. You grabbed Haruka’s hand. “Come on, let’s go home.”
Haruka smiled. We could. Or…” He bumped your shoulder playfully. “I can take you somewhere awesome!”
You raised an eyebrow quizzically. “Somewhere awesome, huh? And where would that be?”
Haruka smiled and gave your hand a slight tug. “It’s a surprise! It’s also close to the station so afterwards we can go home together.”
“Haruka, we’ve been going home together since primary school.”
“That’s not the point!” he huffed playfully. “Besides, today is super duper special!”
“Really?” you asked. “What’s today?”
“Today is…” he paused for dramatic effect, making you roll your eyes in the process. “Our 100 Day Anniversary!!”
Ah, of course. How could you forget?
Anniversaries were nothing new in this relationship. Especially when it came to Haruka. He celebrates everything. Friendiversaries, childhood traditions, milestones, etc.. Ever since you two started dating, he’s even added monthly anniversaries to the list. You didn’t mind it. Every milestone, tradition, and anniversary with Haruka made your heart skip a beat and cherish those memories even more.
“Wow. Today is special.” you smiled, opening the classroom door. “Well, let’s get going before we get scolded. I wanna see this super awesome place. If Haruka likes it, it must be good!”
Haruka smiled brightly and With his hand in yours, you left school and you couldn't help but feel a flutter of excitement in your chest.
*****
“And then, Sensei blabbed for an hour about how I should be paying attention…” Haruka complained. “It’s not my fault I always fall asleep in his class… if he wasn’t so boring…”
As you walked through the bustling streets, you both talked about things going on with friends and school. Of course, Haruka vented to you about how he fell asleep twice in class. You chuckled.
“Hmm… if only someone had listened to my advice and not stayed up playing otome games all night.” you hummed.
“Dreamhunter has an event that allows you to collect 12 SSR cards, each with unique date timelines and rare CG’s and I’m supposed to pass on that?!”
You laughed. “Oh, I’m sure your waifus and husbandos appreciate your determination. Maybe they can help you next time you need to study for an exam.”
“Noooo~. I want N/N-chan’s help!”
“Then, you better stay awake. We're in our 3rd year now. If we wanna get into the same university, we gotta work hard.”
Eventually, you arrived at a quaint little building that immediately caught your attention. Your eyes widened and Haruka smiled brightly. “We’re finally here!”
Nestled on a charming trendy street, the light pink café exuded an inviting aura from the moment you laid eyes on it. A sleek LED sign adorned with whimsical paw prints and the café's name, "NyaNyuBo," hung above the entrance, imitating a slow glow in the afternoon sun. Flower boxes overflowed with vibrant strawflowers and multi-colored milkweeds, adding a burst of color to the café's exterior. A few white wrought-iron tables and chairs sat beneath the pink and white canopy, inviting customers to indulge in a garden party aesthetic.
The windows were adorned with hand-painted murals of playful kittens, each with a unique personality showing. Posters are also put up showcasing deals and kitten mascots advertising discounts. A chalkboard easel stood by the door, displaying daily specials and cat puns in colorful chalk lettering.
“Is this… a cat café?” you ask, looking over at your beaming boyfriend.
“Yes! Isn’t it adorable? I saw a bunch of influencers post about it on Twitter and Instagram! And I immediately thought of you! I know how much you love cats and I wanted to make our 100 day anniversary extra special!” Haruka grinned, his eyes lit with joy.
Entering the café, you had to stop yourself from making a scene. The interior was just as cute as the outside.
You were greeted by the warm aroma of freshly brewed coffee, sweet bubbly fragrances of bubble tea, and the soft sound of purring and tiny meows. The interior of the café was a cozy haven, with soft pastel armchairs and plush sofas with low coffee tables, decorated with scented candles and tiny plants, arranged near the walls and windows, creating intimate seating areas perfect for relaxation. In the center of the café were wooden tables and chairs, each with decorations and cards about each of the cats. Some of the tables had cats declare the tables to be theirs as they stretched and laid across.
The afternoon sunlight streamed in through the bay windows, casting a golden glow over the room and illuminating the mellow decor and sleepy kittens. Shelves lined with books and manga and knick-knacks adorned the walls, while potted plants mounted to the walls and roof.
You and Haruka walked to a table and you basked in the cute little cards and small mason jars full of delectable treats shaped like cats and adorned with adorable edible decorations. On the card it read: ‘Please do not feed our kittens any human food. While we work hard to provide our customers with delicious food and use ingredients that both humans and animals can eat, some of our kitties' tummies might not agree. So please, feed them a couple homemade kitty treats that help them stay happy and healthy.’
You gazed lovingly at the jar of treats for the cats. They’re shaped like kitten faces with “frosting” faces of different cats.
‘Super cute!!’
You were snapped out of your thoughts as Haruka handed you a menu. You tenderly grabbed it and let out a gasp immediately after opening it.
“Everything is so cute! The sandwiches, burgers, curry – they’re all shaped like cats! Even the donuts, macarons, and ice cream parfait have 3D art! I’m in heaven~!”
Haruka giggled. “Me too! It’s like a cozy cat heaven. I wanna live here.”
“Me too!” you sigh. “I’ve been in this area so many times and I never knew there was a cat café here. Was it always a café?”
“I don’t think so. We passed by this building so many times, but I never noticed what it was originally.” Haruka reflected. “Anyway, have you decided what you want?”
You nod. “I’ll have the Smoked Salmon Baguette Sandwich and a strawberry boba tea.”
Haruka nodded and left to go place your order at the front counter. The counter was adorned with even more cat-themed decor and accessories for customers. Behind it, baristas bustled about, preparing steaming cups of coffee and boba tea and artfully crafted cat-themed desserts. Behind the baristas, you saw a small window leading to the kitchen where the chefs were working equally as hard.
You took the time to really look around the café, soaking in the mellow and chill vibe. In one corner of the café, you noticed a towering cat tree where 3 cats slept and played with the dangling toys affixed to it. You looked down at the floor and noticed colorful cat toys littered about and a few customers on the floor completely immersed in playing with the kittens.
You sat back in your chair and listened to the soft k-ballad instrumental music playing in the background and customers chattering quietly amongst themselves, their laughter mingling with the gentle purring of the resident cats.
‘I’m so grateful for Haruka.’ you thought to yourself. ‘He really knows me throughout. If I hadn’t met him…’ You felt a pang in your chest at the thought.
Soon, Haruka came back with the drinks and sat down with a sly grin. “They said our food will be out shortly.” he informed you, giving you your drink. It was even cuter in person. A smiling white cat sat atop of your boba and you felt conflicted about drinking it. “Soooo, in the meantime, I bought us these!” He pulled out two cat ear headbands, one cinnamon and one chocolate brown. He handed you the cinnamon colored cat ears and put on the chocolate brown cat ears with a huge smile. “So we can blend in!”
You stared at him for a few seconds before laughing. “You are such a weirdo!” You laughed even harder as Haruka put on the cat ears and striked various poses.
“Come on~! Put it on!” he urged.
“Alright, alright.” you sighed. Swallowing your pride and cringe, you put on the cat ears and posed awkwardly using your hands as paws. “How do I look?”
Haruka’s face exploded into a plume of red and dramatically clutched his chest. “Too cute! My heart… ah!” Just as quickly, he pulled out his phone. “Give me a little ‘nya~’!”
“Pfft-! What?” you giggled, covering your face.
“Y’know… Nya~!”
You laughed again. “No way! I’d die of cringe.”
“Boo~!” he pouted, putting his phone away. “You should take more advantage of your cuteness!”
You rolled your eyes playfully. “Right back at you, babe.”
After a bit more back and forth teasing, a waiter comes by with your food. With a smile, she sets your food down and bows, telling you to enjoy your food.
Your eyes widen and you immediately salivate at the delicious and gorgeous food in front of you.
“This looks amazing!” you exclaim. You took a whiff. “And it smells sooo heavenly~.”
Haruka nodded eagerly. “For real! Ah! Wait!” He scrambled to pull out his phone. “We gotta get a pic!”
After your boyfriend took a few pics, you two finally chow down.
*****
“…and it was really smelly too!”
“Oh my god! Did you say that to his face?”
“I had to! I’m telling you, it was disgusting-”
Your words are cut off as you feel a tiny ball of fur leap onto your lap. Pulling back a little, you look down and see the most adorable munchkin kitten with cream coating looking up at you. You let out a short, high-pitched squeal/gasp, drop your food on your plate, and scooped up the fluffy kitten.
“Ohmigosh! Haruka! Look at the baby~!” you cooed, showering the kitten in affection and holding it like a porcelain doll.
Haruka’s laughter filled the air as he cooed along with you. “Wow~! They’re so tiny. They must be a baby baby.”
You placed the kitten gently on your lap and bombarded the cutie with scritches along its back and behind the ears. Melting in your chair as you heard tiny purrs coming from the kitten.
Haruka stared at you. “You really love cats, huh?”
You nod fervently, unable to tear your gaze away from the adorable creature, making cute kissy noises and baby talking the kitten.
Haruka soon pouted from the lack of attention. “Baby~. Shouldn’t you be paying attention to your kitten right here?” he whined.
You looked up to see your boyfriend pointing at himself, pulling out his infamous puppy eyes. You giggled.
“Then maybe you should be the one on my lap, hm~?”
Haruka, not expecting such bold words, blushed bright red and struggled to find a flirt back. You laugh again.
Your attention is brought back to the kitten that is actively trying, and failing, to jump on the table. Its little pink beans were desperately pawing at your plate, gazing hungrily at your salmon baguette sandwich.
“Aww~. Is the baby hungry?” you ask. You pick out a piece of salmon and dab your napkin on it to get rid of any of the dressing on it. You bring it towards the kitten's mouth and it eagerly devours it, letting out small little mews and purrs all the while. “Wow. You were hungry, huh?”
Haruka giggles and gushes along with you at the kitten’s eating noises. “The staff probably keep the kittens on a strict kitten food routine. This is probably its first time eating human food.” he whispered, looking around the staff. “You shouldn’t give them anymore. I don’t wanna get kicked out because my love is a rule breaker.” he winked in a teasing tone.
You agreed, turning your attention back to your food and boyfriend as the happy kitten nestles in your lap.
After you both finished your food, Haruka led you to the open cat play area, where you spent the afternoon surrounded by playful and curious kitties. Haruka's boundless energy matched that of the kittens as he chased after them, played with various toys, and sprawled on the floor dramatically meowing. You never laughed this hard.
“I’m glad you brought me here.” you sigh fondly. “This is the best date ever.”
“Is it in the top 5?”
“It’s first place.” You leaned against him, foreheads touching. Under the soft glow of the café's lights, you and Haruka found yourselves drawn into a tender moment, your gazes locked in a silent exchange of affection.
“I love you.” he whispered.
“I love you too.” you whispered back, smiling.
His warm hand cupped your cheek and his breath mingled with yours. Time seemed to stop as your lips met in a sweet, lingering kiss – a slow and gentle kiss that made your heart pound in your ears. In that moment, you wanted this moment, right now, to last forever. And as you both pull away, your foreheads resting against each other, you sigh blissfully unaware of how much time has passed in the tender embrace of your boyfriend.
Peeking from your eyelashes, you notice the warm orange glow flowing from the windows.
“Oh woah… it’s that late already?” you whisper in awe.
“What~?” Haruka whined. “Noooo~! I wanna stay here longer! With you and the kitties!” He flopped on the floor dramatically with a pitiful cry. You laughed and rubbed his chest.
“Come on. If we don’t go home quickly, auntie will get worried and scold you for hours.”
Haruka pouted, but reluctantly stood up and went to the front to pay for the meal. You giggled quietly at his silliness when you felt a small fur ball brush up against you. It was the baby that jumped on your lap. You picked up the kitten, giving into the cuteness. You then felt a pang in your heart at the thought of leaving it here. The more the kitten purred against you, the more you felt the urge to stuff the kitten down your shirt and run out the door. But, you wouldn’t do that.
“Okay, baby. Let’s–”
“Excuse me!” You called out to the employee behind the counter. “Could I see an adoption application?”
The female employee behind the counter smiled brightly and clapped her hands. “Yes, of course! Would you be adopting that kitten you're holding?”
You nodded. “Yes. Does that application process take long?”
“Of course not. Please wait right here. I bring you the adoption paper and a kitten goodie bag full of essentials and a carrier.”
“Thank you!” The employee left towards the back and you softly squealed at your decision.
“Are you really going to adopt the kitten?” Haruka asked, just as excited as you are.
You nodded gleefully, covering your new kitten in kisses. “Of course! Look at this baby! It was love at first sight.”
“Hey~! No fair! I want kisses too!” Haruka whined, puckering his lips towards your face. You laughed, trying to maneuver out of his way.
“You’ve been getting kisses all day! Learn to share, Haruka.”
“Huuh??? No way! I don’t wanna share N/N-chan!”
“Too bad~.” you teased.
*****
The sun had dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of deep purple and soft pink as you both stepped out of the train station. As you and Haruka began your walk home, the streets were quiet with only the sounds of cicadas buzzing in the trees, the sidewalk illuminated by the gentle glow of street lamps. The cool evening breeze rustled the leaves, creating a soothing spring aesthetic that accompanied your footsteps.
You walked with a skip in your step, smiling in content, holding hands with your boyfriend and holding the cat carrier that held your new family member: Naoko or Nao for short.
You smiled down at the kitten curled up in the transparent carrier. “We’re almost home, Nao.”
Haruka glanced over, a soft smile playing on his lips. "Look at her. Already so comfortable with us."
You gazed down at the sleeping kitten, your heart swelling with affection. "I know right~? She's soooo adorable. I can't wait to get home and set up a little space for her with the stuff they gave us. She’s going to love it. I’m gonna make her the best meal she’s ever had in her tiny life!"
Haruka pumped his arm, flailing around Nao’s bag of essentials. "I've already got a bunch of ideas! We could set up a cozy, extra fluffy bed for her by the window so I can see her from my window, and maybe get some of those climbing trees. And a bunch of toys that she’ll be buried in! She'll have so much fun!"
You laugh softly, bouncing off his enthusiasm. “You’re gonna spoil her rotten, aren’t you?”
He winked playfully. “Absolutely! Anything for Nao! She’s our little princess!”
“Woah. Little princess, huh?” you hummed melodically. “I think I just caught a glimpse of Haruka being a lovesick dad.”
“D-Dad?!” he sputtered, his cheeks turning red.
“Yeah. I think you’d be an amazing dad, Haruka.” you stated, smiling nonchalantly.
“W-W-W-Whaaat?!” Haruka yelped, stuttering and getting even redder. “Y/N! It’s too early for us to be thinking about that! We haven’t even graduated yet! A-And I don’t have a job! You also have to be married before thinking about that stuff! We shouldn’t rush things!”
“Huh? What’re you talking about? I’m talking about the future.”
“H-Huh? O-Oh, yeah! That’s what I meant! Yeah! Totally!” he stammered, avoiding your eyes.
“Hmm~? Were you thinking of making a family right now?”
“N-No! Of course not!” He whipped his head away from you, hiding his face.
“Are you sure~? You’re blushing a lot, Ha-ru-ka-chan~.”
“Noooo~…”
“Tonight would be the most romantic day to propose, Haruka. Should I be expecting something soon?”
“N/N… please… I didn’t say anything… please stop…” he mumbled.
You laughed and decided to put a hold on the teasing to save the reputation of your boyfriend. After a few minutes of walking in comfort silence, you turned onto your street and approached your house first. You turned to your boyfriend with a smile.
“Thank you for the amazing date, Haruka. Today has been perfect. Every anniversary you always seem to one-up the dates every single time.”
“Of course, angel~. You deserve only the best.” He pressed a gentle kiss on your lips and you melt into his arms, humming in serenity. As he pulled away, he turned to walk towards his house, but you didn’t let go of his hand. You turned back, looking back at you in confusion.
“Y/N?”
“Oh, did you think you were sleeping somewhere else tonight? Absolutely not. Stay the night.”
“E-Eh? Stay the night? B-But…” He peeked at your house.
“My parents are out of town for the weekend. It’ll just be us.”
“W-What?! Really?”
“Yeah! Plus, the baby will be sad if you go home.” You raised the carrier to show the kitten, slowing waking up from its nap. “And it’s not like we haven’t slept over at each other’s houses before. It’ll be like a sleepover!”
“Oh yeah! It’s been awhile.” he noted. “Yeah, okay! I’ll have to get some stuff from my house and tell mom that I’ll be staying over tonight.” He peeked down at Nao. “And it’ll give me some quality time with NaoNao~.”
As you both walked up the pathway to the house, you smiled. “Yeah, and with Nao here, we can play house.”
“Play house?”
“Yeah. You, me, and the baby.”
Haruka’s face erupted in blush and stammered a nonsense string of words as you led him into the house, laughing at his whinings.
another a/n: hey. sorry. it's been awhile. i've seriously been lacking. i got really hype fixated on learning blender animation and minecraft. also, work shit sucks. i hope you enjoyed asahi haruka. it's nice that this fic is the first intro to him. i hope you guys like him! it's been a while since i've written cutesy stuff. i hope i didn't make it too cringe or cheesy or plain.

Barbecue:
One summer evening on Pabu The bad batch were heading to Shep's house, he was hosting a barbecue and had invited everyone.
The kids were practically pulling the adults along in their excitement.
"Cmon dad, we've been walking forever." Joey whined giving Cobalt an almighty tug forward.
"We've been walking for two minutes bud." Cobalt said as he was almost pulled off his feet.
"Yeah, forever, we're gonna be late at this rate." Joey said.
"Relax Joey, we won't." Cobalt said.
Just minutes later they arrived at Shep's where the man greeted them with one of his signature smiles.
"Hello friends, glad you could make it." He said.
Shep looked to the kids.
"Lyana is in the backyard if you want to see here." He added.
Shep quickly stood aside as the kids and Batcher charged through the door.
Laughing heartily the adults followed through the door and went into the garden where the kids and Lyana were already engrossed in conversation.
Soon Wrecker and Shep had gotten the barbecue started and a smoky smell had now enveloped the garden.
Daniel and James were chasing batcher around the garden, Boba, Zander and Rowan were talking with Mox, Stak and Deke about different ships they had seen and flown and Omega, Kordi, Cynthia and Lyana were sitting together having a whispered the silence interrupted by their frequent giggles.
Other guests soon arrived including Rex and several clones from the rebellion, Riyo Chuchi, Emerie, Phee and to everyone's surprise Rampart along with Jax, Sami and Eva.
"Hello Edmon, glad to see you." Shep said.
"It's a pleasure Shep." Rampart nodded before going and sitting next to Emerie while Jax, Sami and Eva went to the other kids.
Soon Shep, Wrecker and Gregor announced that dinner was ready and the kids eagerly ran over, even batcher and Lucky got a plate of food each. After the kids had been served the adults got their share of food and everyone dug in.
"Good as ever Gregor, you continue to impress." Rex said after a mouthful of fried porg.
"Oh Rex you honey dripper Gregor giggled pretending to blush.
Rampart took a bite of a pirg wing and he suddenly started gasping for breath.
"...To hot.." He gasped out.
Crosshair handed him a bottle from the cooler which Rampart took a large drink from.
"Can't handle your spices Edmon." Crosshair teased.
"Usually I can, but that was spicy even by my standards." Rampart said.
"Sorry about that, that must have been one of my fireball wings." Fireball piped up.
"What's the difference?" Rampart asked.
"They're much spicier than normal porg wings, that's how I got my name, cause I love spicy food." Fireball said.
"I see." Rampart nodded taking another drink of water.
Daniel was typing away on his tablet while chewing away at a pork chop with a healthy amount of apple suacce on it.
Nemec sat down next to him.
"Whatcha working on Danny?" He asked.
Daniel swallowed his food and wiped some sauce off his chin before awnsering.
"My own starfighter, I'm hoping to build it one day, once I'm old enough to do so anyways." Daniel said.
"Can I see?" Nemec asked curiously.
Dan nodded and passed Nemec the tablet.
Nemec whistled impressed.
"That's a nice looking fighter, I'd hate to be on the wrong end of that." Nemec said.
Daniel nodded his thanks blushing slightly with pride.
Sunset was approaching and by now the younger kids were getting tuckered out.
Sami, James, Lyana and Omega were passed out against Batcher who was curled up on the grass.
Eva had crawled onto Rampart's lap half an hour ago and was out cold, head resting against her adoptive father's chest.
Rampart was chatting with Martha along with Daniel who was fast asleep on his mother's lap similar to Eva.
Cynthia and Katie were chatting, about something funny, the two giggling on occasion.
Boba, Jax, Zander and the triplets were huddled together talking in low voices while nearby Kordi read a book with Rowan lying across her lap fast asleep.
Meanwhile Tech and Phee reatreted too the roof where the two watched the setting sun.
"It really is beautiful isn't it?" Phee asked.
"It most certainly is." Tech nodded in agreement.
The two shared a kiss together as the sun set and the others had fun.

It was another boring, bland day: it was nearly half-past ten as you rushed through the busy city; almost struggling to get to get to your beloved cafe! It was a cat café, around 10 minutes walking distance from your apartment block, quite convenient as the city wasn’t really that big, still, it was the biggest for a local distance. It was nice, people from all walks of life were based here, though it was, sadly, common for racism to happen. After all, you did live in the traditional, part of the States: the south, a hotspot for racism towards people of colour. Still, it has gradually been changing throughout your life; In your childhood acts of racism were common, expected. Whereas now, it was unexpected, but you had gotten used to it, even if you believed that you shouldn’t have to.
Anywho, with a huff, you made it through the stampedes of the city to your beloved café, going to sit in your signature spot. It had gotten to a point where balls of fluff were already waiting on the soft, silky pillows for you. Though, once you ordered, someone else had sat there, disrupting your routine which had been carefully curated over the years, being perfected day by day. You were about to ask them to move, that was before you realised it was an old friend of yours. Chay-Chay. Otherwise known as Chappell Roan, well, that was what the books said or how she said it: the ‘Eugh… the no lifers.
Chappell could feel the soft-worn leather couches fall slightly, and so a quick look made her realise that her old crush was sitting next to her, though, she knew that the feelings never left. A slight warmth spread across her face as she took a small sip of the milky boba she had sitting on her table.
“Hi…”
She took a small shaky breath before continuing, thinking through what she was going to say next.
“Where were you???”
A small giggle escaped your lips, the redness becoming more prominent by each second, as if she was a ticking time bomb.
“I never left, Chay-Chay, where were you?”
The tension was thick, the both of you could feel it, it felt like someone was looming above the two of you. Though, even that felt like an understatement; to be fair, it didn’t even feel that bad, it was more pleasant than uncomfortable. Pressuring is what it was, like you needed to make a move, now. Not soon, now.
“Touché, I’ve… I’ve been around. I made it you know. I really did.”
She sounded relieved, she had always said that she’d become an independent artist, and most importantly, make it. After all, what else could she have done, it was all she had her heart set on.
And so, the two of you got carried away, talking all about yourselves, and all of your experiences after high school, from the very lows to the very highs. It was clear to anyone who even looked your way that there was some things unsaid that the both of you would benefit from if they actually were said. Love is blind, that would the best way to describe the two of you at the moment as neither could notice the underlying love in the conversation at the moment. The sky started darkening, and you had come to realise that your whole day had dispersed into this singular conversation with the stunning woman in front of you.
“_____ that’s my number.”
“Ah! Thanks, do you wanna hang out some time soon then?”
“I’ll pay for the food, though, don’t worry ‘bout it.”
“…After all, I started this conversation up, didn’t i? And to answer your query, yes, gladly, Chay-Chay.”
You gave Chappell a quick wink before leaving, leaving her alone, just how you met her earlier.

You can see where I got lazy 😭 wtf I’ll probably continue this BUT no promises, love y’all ❤️🧡🤍🩷💜

everything always falls together just in time for it to fall apart.
I couldn't wait to leave for 6 weeks. and, as John green once tackily said, 'falling in love is like falling asleep. slowly, and then all at once'. it all clicked into place. and the reasons why I have to leave, too, have all clicked into place: I hate my job. Now I've quit my job. Taylor concert in Melbourne, need to be in Melbourne. boyfriend flying into Sydney, need to pick him up in Sydney on the way down. 2 favorite Aussie bands at a music festival hours and hours' drive into the middle of nowhere; need my car to get there. Got to drive from QLD to Sydney to Melb. Housemate is leaving to go to England next week anyway, a lot of what I like about it here will be gone. Well, now I've found more things to like. Well, now the landlord is selling the house. Well, housemates are getting a new place together but I've still got all the other things that render me staying impossible. Well, now there's a cyclone headed straight for this region that I've got to outrun. Now there's a girl I know who wants a ride south who will help me with gas when I'm financially stressed. Time to go. Now.
There is no other answer but to leave. One of my housemates is a big believer in the power of the universe and when it wants you to do things. And yet, I wish I could stand here and brace myself against the gale force winds of the cyclone, feet cemented to the earth, and stay. I keep thinking, "if it wasn't for this I would stay", "if it wasn't for this I would stay" and before I've known it, "this" is literally every single factor that could possibly be worth considering except for where my heart is. I think it through and I know it's true: I came to Australia to see Taylor and I'd die without doing so. My boyfriend is flying in and I need to see him, and the impending cyclone would keep us apart his entire trip here if I don't leave to meet him; he couldn't fly up and I couldn't drive down any later than tomorrow. He wants to see the Great Ocean Road, I need my car in Victoria for the music festival. 2/3 of the people I love here are leaving and if I stay it won't be the same anyway; it won't be worth missing everything else for.
But my heart is tethered to the one street in town and the 2 palm trees on the beach that are beautiful to sit under on a sunny day, and to the girl at the boba tea spot who always looks so happy to see me and the sweet woman who owns the coffee shop I frequent, and the grass on the great lawn overlooking the turquoise sea and the memories of the books I've read in the marina, and the breakfasts I've eaten and taken for granted on the deck in the morning light filtered through the bamboo and birds of paradise plants. All the things that were, for the most fleeting moment, simple things about my home. My day to day life. Only about 2 weeks ago did I realize how extraordinary these things were compared to what my life in New York looked like. The novelty of the turquoise water and staring out at the sun glistening off the ships and the beach a 2 minute drive away and the most loving, maybe closest friends I've ever had living in my home; waiting for me to cook dinner and debrief the day over wine every single day. Taking an electric scooter around when I can't drive. the orange flowers that hang over the driveway. For these two weeks I have looked at everything with the sense of nostalgia and wonderment I will one day look back on it with, so as to not look back and think about how I didn't appreciate it.
I still don't think I appreciated it. How could someone ever live in an affordable and wonderfully furnished house 2 minutes from the beach and want to leave? With good coffee and colorful flowers and an ocean the temperature of a heated pool. I know there are reasons why I did, but now that the "nostalgia" I feel will become the present and not the future in just 24 hours, I feel sick to my stomach. Katie asked me if I'd packed yet and the thought of leaving this room empty never to see it again left me sick to my stomach. Another chapter of my life coming to an abrupt halt. This one, like the sun breaking through in the middle of an endless rainstorm. And just as you're reveling in the glory of the daylight, the clouds roll back in. They go on as far as the eye can see.
I don't know if I will ever find anything like this again in the whole time I am alive. Struggle has presided over my entire time in Australia thus far, and struggle is all I see on the horizon as I am unsure where I will go next in this country, how I will earn money, or where I will live. I am dreading seeing my boyfriend and cannot even place excitement for it in my brain, because it means I will be gone from here and back into the storm of uncertainty and all the bad things this country has brought me. The past few weeks in this place were the rainbow filled eye of a terrible cyclone, one far bigger than the one that is currently stampeding towards this place.
I do not want to go back to the rain.

giving birth
idk, i'm pretty sure some people wouldn't write a post about going into labour on tumblr, but it's a thing i wanted to write about, so - it's here if you want it! if you'd rather avoid, don't click the read more.
things normal people might want to know outside the cut:
baby is now 11 days old <3 things are generally going well. i sleep between about 11pm and 3am, and then again 8am to 10am
it's been hard to get enough brain together to write a post like this, reply to comments, read fic, etc, as many of my most cogent hours have been visitor hours or hanging out with my partner. the night shift is not a good time to do things that aren't watching TV. i've managed to Read Half a Book (daisy jones and the six - easy going, i like it)
i was going to cosplay him as baby simon snow left at the orphanage, but he looks nothing like simon (much more like baz - currently: grey eyes, reddish-gold skin, dark hair), and also i don't want to write on my baby :o
surprise fourth entry: we think the terrace house next door has been turned into a brothel ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
ok - birth stuff after this. not too much gory detail, probs, but some.
Tumblr media
the beginning part you already know!
waters broke on thursday 11th, just after i woke up. this was two days after the stitch was removed, and therefore almost certainly related, so hooray for stitch! kept the baby in until 37 weeks.
i'd been worried that i might not realise my waters had broken, as apparently this is totally possible. i am here to tell you - that YES, it is possible. i clocked what it probably was immediately, but also it wasn't a 4 cups of liquid is everywhere sort of deal, it was more like - about half a cup every hour or so. and so i thought - this is probably what is happening, but maybe it's not and i should have done more pelvic floor exercises.
went to hospital. got hooked up to the machine that monitors baby heartbeat and movement. nothing much happening, although heartbeat all ok. the midwife on duty was called 'merlyn' - true story.
she asked me to walk around for a bit and come back, so my partner and i walked to the costa coffee inside the hospital. i ordered one of the new 'bubble' drinks, because i thought - why not? it's sugary and cold, these are things that make babies move. the drink was...... not good. blueberry slushy with cream on top and bubbles that were a) too big to fit through the absolutely normal straw and b) apparently were a cross between blueberries and popping boba. i say apparently as i'd given up by then and my partner ate them.
anyway - this detail included just to show you how surreal and nothingy early labour was. we walked back, hooked back up to the machine. baby now kicking a bit, and merlyn asked me whether i just had a really high pain tolerance and therefore wasn't upset about the contractions. i said, 'i dont know - guess we're about to find out' 🤔
agreed i probably wasn't in labour yet, so i was sent home, but asked to come back at 4.30 for my pre-scheduled scan with the nice doctor who first realised my cervix was open, and who we've seen regularly since (because my partner rang to complain when we had no follow up, and because this doctor was the one who rang us back and then made sure we were seen afterwards. not brilliant work from NHS administrators).
was also told if i didn't go into labour before hand, to come back at 8.30am (24 hours after waters broken) to be induced. given leaflet about induction methods. key take away - could take up to 3 days. sounds terrible.
home for 2 hours, back to hospital for scan.
we were waiting around for about half an hour. shown in - doctor says, 'we've had some difficult patients today, sorry! but you should be easy'. my partner tells her my waters have broken - she's surprised! (but pleased) no one has managed to tell her or put it in any notes, which she just reviewed. again - great job. i do love you NHS, but what is going on? a student midwife is trying to scan me - and has had to deal with all these previous difficult cases. with little amniotic fluid left, her job is basically impossible. sorry :'(
but - waters breaking confirmed! honestly, until that point i was still not sure. doctor says, induction could be offered immediately, but we mostly don't do that as in almost all cases you go into labour before 24 hours. i said thank you again for spotting my cervix being open. weird to think we won't see her again!!
went home. watched the end of 'little dorrit' (overall - it's good. so many famous people. the ending is a bit all over the place, though). about 9pm started feeling period-pain type pain. figured: probably a contraction! definitely did not feel like i expected in that there was no real release. it was just - now you're having a painful period. i called maternity triage again to say there was blood in the water now, and they reminded me that was totally normal (mucus plug, i guess) and to come back when things were serious.
so - i went to sleep.
woke up at about 2am. contractions now serious business, but also still... not as serious as i'd expected. again: basically it felt like period pain, this time crossed with constipation. and then it would go away, and i'd feel totally normal again, which i was not expecting.
we'd been told to come in when the contractions were every 5 minutes for an hour. my contractions were coming about ever 2-3 minutes. after about 20 minutes, i told my partner that i wanted to go to the hospital now, even if we should really wait. this was the RIGHT decision.
i'm the only one who can drive our car. it was obviously not a good idea to drive the car. i called an uber. unfortunately the labour ward is on the other side of the hospital to the main entrance, and doesn't have an address you can give uber..... retrospectively i'd have done better just putting in the street, like i usually did, but i tried to use the labour ward post code. we ended up at the main entrance, which was shut.
erin (my partner) keeps telling people that the uber drive was annoyed i slammed the door of his car, but i honestly do not remember this. the drive was about 10 minutes, during which i alternated between feeling bad and feeling totally fine.
we didn't bother trying to direct the driver to the right part of the hospital, just got out. erin wanted to go and get a wheelchair, but i didn't want to just sit on the ground outside the hospital in the middle of the night while she did that, and i felt completely fine ... except when i didn't.
so we walked to the labour ward. it's about 5 minutes from the entrance. i sat on the floor when the contractions came. then walked again. cool times.
arrived at maternity triage. again, it felt like going there every other time we'd ever been there - my key take away is that most of being in labour was extremely underwhelming. pain was not great, to the extent that i was thinking 'i can see why people don't like labour, maybe this was a terrible idea', but i could still think things like that. they hooked me up to the same machine as they had in the morning, and this time it said - yes, definitely in labour (which i knew, but ho hum - it was doing its best!).
asked to confirm i was a low risk pregnancy. we were like - nope, don't think so. ivf, stitch, isnt that in the notes??
a midwife came over and was like - "WOW, you're 8cm dilated." (of the necessary 10cm) at which point they started to take everything a bit more seriously. but they also described a bunch of pain relief options - and i was like, whatever, give me whatever i can have. and then was told - oh no, you actually can't have pethadine, water birth, or epidural of these as you're too far along. (which i also knew, but then why offer?)
i'd sort of suspected this might be the case, given how my cervix tried to open at 21 weeks. so my birth plan was basically 'whatever'. v glad i hadn't had my heart set on anything in particular.
they wheeled me down the corridor to one of the birthing rooms. they wouldn't let me go to the toilet in case i had the baby in the toilet..... that's how quickly things were happening.
i managed to change into the hospital gown, then got onto the bed. 'this is such a comfortable bed' i told my partner, although later (post birth) i realised that it wasn't... but i appreciated it a lot at the time.
i WAS allowed gas and air, hurrah. i'm extremely keen on doing things that make my life easier, so i accepted, obvs. basically, you breathe in during the contractions, and breathe out of the mask normally when you're not contracting.
THIS made the whole experience very different from just 'intense period pain', in part probably because the pain was ramping up, but also because whenever i wasn't contracting i felt completely off my face from the gas. overall, i thought this was a decent pain relief option. i also liked how breathing in the gas gave me something to focus on while pain was happening and it was a clear signal to everyone else that it was happening.
i probably had about... 5 more before my body was like 'maybe time to push'. (it really did feel different/like an actual urge). midwife told me i couldn't have the gas and air anymore - boo - just focus on pushing when the urge came.
pushed...... but obviously it hurt, so even though they were like 'keep pushing!' i thought, i will just relax because that's less painful. (great job, brain.) but i only faked out twice.
they invited a doctor in, because i was bleeding, and baby's heartrate was dropping. i agreed to the episiotomy because even though i reeeally didn't want that, i obviously would do whatever to get the baby safe.
retrospectively, my partner and i think that probably i was bleeding because i'd just had the stitch out two days before and those wounds had opened. but neither of us thought of it at the time, and no one assisting with the birth had had time to read the notes. (this is a theme of the post, not to be too whingey - but it was a shame). but anyway, the cutting (boo) came with a side of local anaesthetic (HOORAY) so actually it felt like a very good decision at the time, even above baby's safety.
one more contraction, one more push - baby was born in one go.
he's premature-levels of small at 5lb 10oz (5th percentile), even though he's technically full term. this is why erin and i think the bleeding was from the stitch rather than the baby, although one of the midwives suggested perhaps he was holding his arm up next to his face and that made him seem bigger. the scan we got the day before estimated his weight as being more normal, but scans are super unreliable particularly late in pregnancy.
really a very easy birth, as far as i can tell. i had slept through a lot of the early stage. the fear of being at home at not with medical professionals was the worst bit (and we fixed that by just going in even when we weren't sure) and as soon as it was over, i felt immediately fine. the whole thing had taken 2 hours tops. baby born at 4.30am.
i thought i'd cry when they gave me the baby, but actually i was too surprised that he was actually there and alive. (my partner cried.) the umblical cord looks creepy and alien. we'd agreed a medical professional should cut the cord, rather than erin (who wants to do this? they just want dads to feel involved). i got to hold him baby while they gave me the shot to deliver the placenta. barely felt it.
then had to give baby to erin for 30 minutes while a fuck tonne of stitches were put in... the amount of sewing involved was definitely worrying. i'd assumed maybe like... two stitches, but... it was a lot. can't recommend (though could not feel it at the time.)
after that, we just got to hang out in the room. i showered, changed, they brought me (but not erin) some breakfast and lunch. they did tests on the baby, most of which he passed. didn't pass the hearing test but apparently this is normal, as lots of babies have fluid in their ears. we think he can hear as he has startled at loud noises since. all the clothes i'd brought were hilariously too big.
sent home about 12 hours after the birth. could have stayed if we'd wanted to, but definitely did not.
i felt totally fine the entire day of the birth, full of LOTS of adrenalin. second day was also ok. third day was my crash. i got a cold, which was NOT good for my pelvic floor (and which i still have, RIP). my stitches hurt, the sleep debt had kicked in and i was hobbling everywhere, and breastfeeding wasn't going well. before the birth i'd been very much of the opinion that i'd breastfeed if it was easy, but i found it kind of weird and knew the health benefits were exaggerated. (but not completely, obviously). deep in my hormones, i was not able to hold onto this previously rational view. instead, i was thinking - i have no connection to my baby anymore.
i also cried at the song 'making a man' from the musical operation mincemeat (which is NOT an emotional song - but is about someone with the same name as my baby, who i'd just made), the beginning of the movie 'in the heights' (it was just so good!), the ending of the movie 'pride', and i cried again while describing what had happened at the end of 'pride' and how i'd cried.....
bought several breast pumps, fed the baby formula, took a day off from trying to breastfeed, things pretty much fixed for me (except for the crying at movies) by day 5. going to continue with combination feeding (i.e. breastmilk+formula) though, because it just seems insane to have to wake up every time the baby is hungry. what am i, a sadist? and when people are over - how good not to have to get your breasts out... thank you makers of formula.
ANYWAY. we're now on day 11. feels like baby is pretty easy going for a baby, he only cries when he needs something - which i appreciate, as it helps me keep him alive \o/ he will sleep in his basket, but only if he's already asleep. he prefers to be held. he can sleep for 3 hours at a time, but only during the day - at night you're lucky to get 1 hour, and he has been awake for about 2 hours at a time, unlike about 15 minutes average in the day. he smells nice, he wasn't cute-cute when he first came out, but he is getting extremely cute now and i think he looks more like my partner than an unknown donor (although still all to play for, i think). because he's still super small and almost pre-term, his legs and arms are still all curled up like he's in the womb, even though he's been out 11 days. but he's gradually uncurling them and stretching out.
i like holding him. he makes funny faces. he has a LOT of hair - which means the heartburn was right about that one. (n.b. heartburn is linked to hair, this is an old wives tale that is now scientifically proven) think it's going well, overall <3
n.b. i had to pause at this point because baby woke up. what they say about baby boys peeing on you while you change their nappies is 100% accu-rat, but it's quite funny really. we haven't worked out how to stop it because putting a cloth over him makes him hold it in..... and then you remove the cloth....... fine comedy in action.
my bump was very small, so i was able to put my pre-pregnancy jeans back on after only a few days. hooray, i love jeans.
uterine contractions started about day 6 (this is a thing i feel i did not know about before being pregnant myself. 7 days worth of contractions post baby to bring your uterus back in line). wow, it's like MORE PERIOD PAIN. great. there's less blood than i expected, though. i also can't control my temperature well at night - so i'm super hot while asleep, then get out of bed and start shivvering. apparently this is what the menopause will be like. looking forward to that 😅
not much else to add except the brothel stuff. basically 2 nights ago, someone knocked on my front door at 4.30 (same time baby was born!) in the morning as i was sitting up with baby. rang the doorbell, walked round to peer through the window, and then knocked again. i would not have answered - just wanted him to go away, but erin came down and opened the door, which was (it turns out) the right thing to do, but i was not happy about it - as we live in a semi-dodgy neighbourhood, although i've always felt relatively safe as we're off the highstreet and there are often people outside the pub until 1-2am, which is annoying but also feels like they'd see and stop anything bad.
i was running through scenarios like 'and then he breaks in' or 'and then he stabs whoever opened the door' in my mind. instead he just said something like - 'do you know where the whorehouse is?' and erin said 'wtf, it's 3am' and closed the door.
this could have just been a random incident, and indeed i didn't hear him say 'whorehouse' so i thought it was just a drunk guy asking for directions. but once she told me what he'd said, we then realised that the house next door to us... probably is a brothel. it's been renovated by our ex-neighbours and rented out, all the windows are blacked out, including the skylight we can see out of our windows. there's a complex doorbell system, they refuse to take our packages in, they don't have any bins out the front (which is presumably because no one is using the house as a house), and we've definitely heard people having sex through the walls. though erin thinks they've put up sound insulation just in time to not have to hear the baby crying in retaliation.
she's american and leftie and very against cops, so i'm trying not to be a karen about it. i have not reported it to the police, but i have said to erin already that if anything else happens that makes me feel unsafe...... i probably will. the man knocking on the door makes me not want to be awake with the baby in the night, even though nothing happened. (he broke the first rule of secret brothel - you DONT talk about secret brothel). we don't have our ex-neighbours details, so reporting is all we could do. apart from i guess ask them to move.... (won't be doing that, obvs. confrontation? no thanks.)
hopefully it's fine, and they will just move on at some point. VERY weird, though. and not what i need while hopped up on hormones.
glad to have written this post! feels like a good turning point in baby land, being able to write some words even if it's just this stream of consciousness. i also logged back into work Teams to send some pictures. since he was born, have been out with baby to the midwife (in the car), marks and spencers (in the car with pram), boots (in the pram), and today to a hipster coffee shop (in car, baby slept in pram bassinet). might reply to some comments tomorrow. working back up to actually writing some fic or finishing my lego.
also - it's (almost) hitting me that i have 9 months off work. apart from the sleep, i feel like i could go back to work now.... but i WANT the time off. but usually i only take 2 weeks off, and i've done that now... so it's time to go back to work...
i did read a bunch of other messages on Teams/Slack when i was posting the pictures. v hard not to care. even with something much more important to do.
ok - going to eat some food, now. thank you to anyone who read this far! hope it was interesting as well as long.
not tagging this pregnancy as i was doing it so people could block the tag, but people who don't know me literally found my posts and read them. and ... that's not what this is for.

i did go on indie bookstore crawl thru my school library today btw and it was really fun :3 i got more books than i should have but im excited... got a book i needed for class. got books just for fun. and then the last one we went to was a speciality children's book store so it was just like books for kids (baby to middle grade/maybe early high school ya with like a small adult section for i assume parents) so i got two books for my nephews that will be their christmas gifts :] one is like baby's first conversation about gender (which i thought would be good bc i am one of their #transgender relatives and my cousin always tries to be good and respectful to me to be fair all of them do but see shes the one with kids rn so i thought it would be nice for both child and parent) and then the mitten. bc i looooved the mitten as a kid and forever wanted to be able to fit in a mitten and would ocassionaly try bc of it. to be honest with you i still want to fit into a mitten. but as for books for myself i got akata witch (the book for class i needed) and then bloodchild and kindred by butler and picture of dorian gray bc i thought perhaps today i should pick up a classic and then i also got dismantling mass incarceration bc i've been wanting to finally get into reading stuff on incarceration + prison abolition so i was like maybe this can be a good stepping stone into that. and then i also got the only good indians bc i remember hearing about it and going that sounds interesting like last year or something so finally picked that up too. and spent way more money than i should have in total today. so eiffel doesnt get to buy anything but groceries and art supplies for a bit. which was already mostly what i was doing but this means no fun saturday boba drink with friends for at least a few weeks until i make sure my spending is back on track w/ how much school i have... hopefully also my school gets back to me about work study. anyways good day fun book day. i also got some stickers and bookmarks too :3 fun day!!

i just got to the part in the first episode where aeryn majestically takes off her helmet right before she beats the ever loving fuck out of john.
but i remember two semesters ago talking about this scene in my star wars class…which is and isn’t what it sounds like. we talked about stuff like war, sexuality, gender, race, humanity through the lenses of star wars. It was sooooo interesting and the best class i’d ever taken
anyways, the professor who taught the class wrote a book regarding real world topics being presented in the world of star wars and when we got to the cosplays unit…again us and isn’t what it sounds like…in his book he talked about how much he loved seeing people cosplaying as stormtroopers, boba/jenga fett, bounty hunters, etc. and then when they take their helmets off, the most beautiful men and women are underneath.
and i just remembered in my discussion post regarding that comment, i mentioned this scene from farscape and he actually knew what i was talking about!

Boba Fett speaking with Fennec Shand (out of frame) on Tatooine, near the site of the Sarlacc pit. Image from The Book of Boba Fett, Season 1, Episode 4, The Gathering Storm. Calendar from DataWorks.
“Boss! I have the data you asked for…” Fennec Shand called out as she entered the Daimyo’s throne room.
She always liked this room. It’s size. It’s shape. The multiple mechanisms that could be used to drop the unsuspecting into the razor’s den. Of course they didn’t do things like that. Jabba had been a menace with his constant escalation of tensions and never settling on a fixed price for the outcome he wanted. The Daimyo wasn’t like that, which was very satisfying.
Of course the Daimyo still had his little quirks. His affection for the rancor being number one among them. The throne room was empty, which meant just one thing. Boba Fett was spending his precious time with the rancor trainer Machete and the huge creature the kid had nicknamed ‘Ranky’.
It was a silly name but it was also accurate. No matter how many baths that critter was given it still smelled… unpleasant. It was one of the few times Fennec regretted that the Modifier hadn’t made a modification to her sense of smell.
She laughed out loud. A short harsh laugh. Sometimes the kid got pretty stinky too after spending a day with the Daimyo and the rancor. The two of them seemed to have a lot in common. Their childhoods hadn’t been exactly traditional. They had skills at a young age that no should have. People chased them across the galaxy. And somehow, Fennec just didn’t understand how, they managed to survive it all with a sense of humor and good will intact. It seemed absurd.
Of course not as absurd as having a Mandalorian bounty hunter for an adoptive father. That still took top prize. Fennec had never met anyone less likely to successfully raise a child than Din Djarin. He didn’t think about their needs at all. The kid didn’t even have a change of clothes before he met the Daimyo and who thought rations were food that hadn’t been left to die in the desert for three days before finding them? He barely called the kid by his proper name. Of course Grogu wasn’t the prettiest name Fennec had ever heard, but then Din Djarin wasn’t much of name either.
She couldn’t even tell which name was his first name and which was his second name. The other Mandalorians she had known, few though there were, handled that more like Bo-Katan Kryze and Axe Woves. But according to the kid he was now being called ‘Din Grogu’, like ‘Din’ was a last name. Even Paz Vizsla had his name in the standard order and he was the least standard Mando Fennec had ever met.
Whatever. Mandalorians liked their mysteries and Fennec wasn’t interested in them. She solved puzzles. They were logical and typically profitable. Mysteries dragged you all over the place and who paid you in the end? No one. She didn’t like to waste her time that way.
But of course that’s what she was doing now. Wasting her time looking for Boba Fett so she could give him the data he’d asked for about the stability of Tatooine’s cooperative government model.
Fennec had to admit, at least to herself, that the kids had surprised her. The Daimyo’s posse of modified youngsters who actually cared that Tatooine be run like a responsible planet. As if a planet could be an adult with responsibilities and duties. Imagining Tatooine like that had made her laugh more than once, but those ‘young people Fennec, don’t call them kids is disrespectful’ were eager to take on those burdens.
The Daimyo was equally eager to lay some of his down. Bounty hunters had a different solution to people who failed to live up to their end of any bargain. To borrow from the kid’s father, folks could always be brought in cold. Very cold. That was Fennec’s preference anyway. She didn’t like to use her skills to run an administration that had such a modest profit margin. The day was going to come when she, and probably Fett as well, would want out. They’d want to spend a month or year on Cantonica doing nothing but swimming in the ocean and making new friends and influencing people. They would need funds for that and not the kind that you paid yourself as the modest leader of a newly non-corrupt government entity. No dividends there.
“Hey Boss! I’ve got that data you asked for!”
She had finally reached the outside rancor training pen. Boba was sitting in the saddle that the Mandalorian had located for the rancor (wherever the hell that came from) smiling like a little kid. It was a nice scene. She’d have to keep that one in mind the next time she wanted something.
“Very good, Fennec. Update my data pad and then take some time off. It’s a beautiful day. You should enjoy it.”
“Good idea. I haven’t been down to the range lately. I can get some target practice in.”
She smiled as she thought about that. She had a new scope to site and hadn’t found the time to do it properly. Now was a perfect time for that.
“Good. Just take it easy on the Gamorreans. They don’t fit in the bacta tank you know.”
“Whatever you say, Boss. Whatever you say.”

Oh boy oh boy am I having Thoughts about how I would’ve written The Book of Boba Fett if given the chance! It’s probably gonna get pretty long, so I’ll stick it under the cut
Episode 1. This one would have a LOT of Jango screen time. In fact, it would almost ENTIRELY be Jango screen time (one of my biggest complaints about tbobf is how it utterly failed to address how Jango’s parenting affected Boba at all). It would start out with the tail end of what’s clearly a history lesson about the Echani, a warrior people who may not have made the jump from Legends to Canon, I can’t remember. Anyways, young Boba (VERY young, we’re talking like. 4-6 years old so he has plenty of time before Geonosis) would ask for another lesson, and Jango would say “alright, let’s do… the Sand People of Tatooine.” From then on, most of the episode would be about a bounty Jango and his Grunts took on before Korda VI, where they had to work together with some of the Sand People. Jango’s narration would occasionally interject with facts about the Sand People, and at some point in the episode, there’d be a line about how “Jas’buir says that battlesign” (I’d have it be a full language in its own right, but I’m not sure where to put that detail) “is so similar to their own sign because a Sand Person verd invented it after joining [whichever Mandalorian group was the big one whenever they joined].” This line would have a lot of worldbuilding baked into it; Jaster existed, was a history nerd, and did fully adopt Jango. Mando’a Battlesign exists, and is distinctly similar to Sand People sign language. The second to last scene of the episode would be back on Kamino, with Boba asking if he could learn battlesign, and Jango saying he’d get right on putting together a module for that. The episode would end with the Jawas pulling Boba out of the Sarlacc, taking his armor, then being scared away by someone offscreen. The last shot would be a gaderffii stabbing down between the camera and Boba’s unconscious form.
Episode 2. This one would also be a good bit of Jango content, but with more Boba interspersed in. It would be short stories, Jango telling Boba of some thrilling fights and hunts he went on (with his Grunts, with Jaster, alone, however works best), immediately contrasted with Boba and the Sand People facing a similar fight, and showcasing the similarities and differences between Jango and the Sand People. The second to last story would be Jango’s escape from Gardulla (as seen in Star Wars: Bounty Hunter), and then Boba and the Sand People facing a Hutt who had decided to come and claim Tatooine for their own, now that both Jabba and Gardulla have been gone for a bit. Obviously, Boba would trick him into being eaten by a Krayt dragon. I get that this all is probably a bit heavy-handed, but swagever. The last story would be Jango’s verd’goten, with full cultural context. The episode ends with Boba finding Fennec (who’s a bit dying), saying he needs to get her to help, and being told that he has to pass the Trial (I’d try and make up a word, but it would pretty obviously draw parallels to a verd’goten) before he can leave. That’s what we end the episode on
Episode 3. Drug-and-Force-magic-Trial-trip! The first big part would be Boba confronting Jango, but it would clearly be his perception of Jango. Jango would be altogether bigger and faster than he was in real life (because Boba never got the chance to know him as one adult to another), but his neck would be lit by a torc of purple (because trauma). They throw down (naturally), and at first, Jango is winning handily. However, Boba starts noticing that Jango is making some of the same mistakes he made in the stories from the last two episodes (mistakes which were covered for or glossed over then, but in full relief here), and he takes advantage of those until he manages to grab a stick out of seemingly thin air, and whack Jango real good. Jango, defeated, smiles at Boba, and tells him “I’m proud of you, ner ad. May the Ka’ra watch over your hunts.” Boba turns around and finds a Being (a deity? A specific Sand Person? A conglomerate of his mentors, past and present? Idk man, whichever is most Thematically Satisfying), who walks him through making his stick into a gaderffii. Boba wakes up exactly where he started the Trial, with only “a quarter-hour of sunlight” having passed. He takes his gaderffii, a cycler rifle, a bantha, and Fennec (who is bandaged and stable, but won’t survive without significant medical intervention), and rides off towards Mos Espa, with the last shot lingering on the sign for the place where the Mods do their cybernetics
Episode 4. Boba needs money in order to pay the mods to save Fennec. He could be Jango Fett’s son, and take a bounty job real quick. OR he could be his own man, stepping out from his father’s shadow, and fill that power void on Tatooine that he conveniently kept empty two episodes ago. This is a “Boba Fett kicks ass even without his armor” episode, and BOY does he do that! With Fennec fixed up (and having sworn a life-debt to him), he negotiates a treaty between the settlers and the Sand People, and then takes off with Fennec to grab his armor
Honestly, this is where my initial ideas run out. If there was one more episode, I’d have there be a short mid-season hiatus, then the latter 4 episodes would follow a formula of Jango Story Re: Governance, Boba Faces Similar Problem, Sand People Faced Similar Problem And Did X, Boba Does Y, Which Is A Cross Between X And What Jango Did. But, that doesn’t really work, so I guess I’ll just put the general subject matter I want each episode to explore
Episode 5. What does it mean to be a Mandalorian? Does Boba want to be a Mandalorian?
Episode 6. More Hutts trying to take control of Tatooine, this time using the Tatooine contingent of the Pyke syndicate. Boba would arrange for the Sand People to take care of what the baddies set up in the desert, then raise a militia to take care of defending the cities (it would be less of a battle than the big one in ACTUAL tbobf; Tatooine folk are Free now, and they will not return to chains in life, but it would be planet-wide, because Boba is ruler of Tatooine, not just Mos Espa)
Episode 7. Boba Fett introduces himself to the New Republic as the People’s Leader of Tatooine. Most of this episode would probably be planning for that, and calling in favors
So uh. Yeah. That’s what that is. I feel like tbobf spent too much time in Boba Fett, Daimyo, and not enough time on Boba Fett, son of Jango Fett

Watching The Mandalorian S3E04
Okay, so last week's episode, which was almost all about Dr Pershing who absolutely nobody likes or wanted to know more about, was 59 minutes long. This week's, which is PRESUMABLY about DIN DJARIN THE MANDALORIAN from The Mandalorian, is only 33 minutes long. Do you think they could please try to have a consistent episode time? I don't mind about five minutes here or there, but this is absurd, and it just really feels like the people in charge are no longer interested in telling a story about Mandalorians.
anyway last week I was bored and indignant and Bo-Katan got involuntarily baptised and adopted which probably isn't even in her top ten of strange things that have happened to her
NB - I get pretty salty in here so if that would bum you out or if you genuinely enjoyed the episode maybe just keep scrolling
okay so remember how in that episode of The Book of Boba Fett that was completely hijacked from Boba Fett to be about Din's problems, the covert was down to literally two people, the Armorer and Paz Vizsla, living in an underground lair with a glow-in-the-dark sigil to let you know it was there like a vampire safe house in Blade? How did they get all these Mandos together after that? I know they're trying really hard to push some bullshit about "there was a two year time lapse and that's why Bo-Katan's bob is longer or something" but it simply does not make sense and is unsatisfactory. Anyway, there's a shedload of Mandalorians here and they're acting like yahoos on the beach. If there were road signs on this planet they would be so shot-up they'd look like lace.
I miss Boba Fett
remember Boba Fett?
(wistful sigh about Boba Fett)
okay the little kid going up in a jetpack was pretty cute
and Grogu's just being cute and Zen rock gardening down at the water's edge WHERE IN RECENT MEMORY A HUGE MONSTER SPLURSHED UP ON THE BEACH AND STARTED TRYING TO EAT PEOPLE
I mean I can't say it enough
THEY HAVEN' T EVEN PUT UP A FENCE
Din it's really nice that you want to include him but... have you done anything to prepare him for this kind of rough-housing? Yeah yeah learn by doing and everything, but he's not even the same species as the other children in this activity, let alone approximately the same shape or size.
Have you explained to him that it's not okay to choke the other kid with his mind? Because I feel like that's going to be his go-to move if they come at him like a spider monkey.
"I am his ward"? How are they using that word exactly? Isn't he your ward? You're his guardian. He's Dick, you're Bruce, not the other way round.
Din Djarin please stop making your baby play paintball on the beach
HERE COMES ANOTHER FUCKING MONSTER
MANDALORIANS ARE SO FUCKING STUPID
THAT KID HAS THE MOST DOGSHIT LUCK
of fucking course your jetpacks don't have the range to follow the dragon to its lair! They're only for short hops! You're all idiots!
"I'm out of fuel. It always gets away."
IT ALWAYS GETS AWAY?
THIS HAS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY?
HOW MANY CHILDREN HAVE BEEN EATEN!!!???
so Bo-Katan has to be the only functional adult
can I just say
if Bo-Katan Kryze is the most functional adult present, the kids are in so much trouble.
"It would kill the child" - why are you all carrying on so leisurely as if the child isn't most likely already dead? Why would Bo-Katan go all the way back and not simply radio back to base, keeping an eye on the lair and giving them the co-ordinates to join her? What do you actually care about "the safety of the foundling" when you do absolutely nothing to protect your children from the MARAUDING WILD ANIMALS of the planet you have UNACCOUNTABLY SETTLED UPON?
why... why is this show so dumb now
like I don't require genius from a Star War but why is everyone a fucking meathead
okay I think the baby is having A PTSD FLASHBACK not that anybody's paying attention
so are they finally going to deliver on "who took care of Grogu?"
just some random Jedi (okay, actually I approve of it not being anyone I recognise; if it wasn't going to be Maul which I always knew was extravagantly unlikely)
and a tiny bit of voice work from Temuera Morrison
(dreamy sigh) Temuera Morrison
so they're getting a bit more use out of the Coruscant "sets" they "built" for last week's waste of the better part of an hour
Okay, that's a Naboo ship, they're easy to recognise because they're so shiny and chrome
I'm curious what this implies about emergency plans Padmé may have made
"Mandalorian steel shall keep you safe as you grow stronger." Unless, of course, you're snapped up by one of the RAVENOUS BEASTS that MARAUD all around our FLAGRANTLY UNFORTIFIED SETTLEMENT
well his papa will be very proud to see his new little tummy-shield
YOU'RE GOING TO CAMP OVERNIGHT?
HOW ARE WE NOT SUPPOSED TO THINK THE KID IS LONG SINCE DEAD? why would the dragon not eat him as soon as it got home? It's not Kong, it's not going to decide he's cute and play with him instead!
"It will kill the foundling if it is attacked. It has happened before when it has taken others." And we have never, ever developed any safety precautions to prevent that happening. Look, do you care about these children or don't you? If you cared about them, wouldn't you supervise them when they're out in an open area frequented by monsters? Or perhaps simply not let them go out in that area, given that the monsters show absolutely no fear of the multiple heavily-armed adults in the settlement?
I - I feel like they sat down and wrote this episode like "This is a tough challenge for our heroes, and will show us their strengths as they work together to overcome it!" as opposed to "This is a moronic situation that wouldn't have happened if anyone involved had the merest smidgen of the most rudimentary sort of intelligence."
there should've been one of those Batman gags where a cameo guest star opens a window in the cliff and pops their head out for a bit of banter
"He's my son! And I'm a BIG BEEFY IDIOT"
HOW HAS RAGNAR BEEN AT LEAST PARTIALLY INGESTED FOR SEVERAL HOURS AND HE'S STILL ALIVE ENOUGH TO SHOUT "HELP ME"? EVEN IF HE WAS IN SOME SORT OF THROAT POUCH NOT BEING DIGESTED YET HOW DID HE NOT SUFFOCATE?
I don't say this lightly: the Ewoks cartoon (1985-1987) had better plots (and the episodes were only slightly shorter)
we are the e-e-e-e-e-e-Ewoks, we're the spirits of the forest moon
AND NOW THE MOTHER RAPTOR, WHO WAS ONLY TRYING TO FEED HER BABIES, GETS CHOMPED BY A MOSASAUR IN THE MOST PROFOUNDLY UNJUST MOSASAUR-CHOMPING DEATH SINCE KATIE McGRATH IN JURASSIC WORLD (2015)
I mean God forbid women do anything
AND NOW I SUPPOSE THE RAPTOR BABIES JUST STARVE
oh okay so you MURDER THEIR MOTHER and then ADOPT THEM? I suppose that's responsible in a morbid way
this really did feel like the dénouement of a Saturday morning cartoon
look will you please just drop them off with Boba Fett who I would actually trust with pet care
how was there room for the three babies AND the team of Mandalorians in that ship
okay I would actually love it if BK goes around telling people she saw a Mythosaur and nobody believes her or they all think it's a metaphor or an imaginary friend like when nobody believed Big Bird about Mr Snuffleupagus (which they eventually changed because they didn't want to give children the message "adults won't believe you")
well that was just awful
wow
they really are exploring new ways in which to stink
are Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni well
are they exhibiting symptoms of cognitive decline

i'm sorry for spamming your inbox please tell me to stop if i'm bothering you--
what even is the whole official star wars stuff. like except from the... nine? main movies that i all watched many times (i mean... "many" is for the first 6 but whatever), there is uhh rogue one? and solo right? i don't think i watched it. but like. there are shows too right? i never heard of those except that there is so much star wars lore that probably comes from ✨️ somewhere ✨️ (i hope). so what do i need to watch?? is there an order?? is there like. idek. things i have to know before diving into this? i feel like if you try to go away from the 6 (9) main movies you're immediatly going to get lost in the most crazy shit ever and never return from it and i'm ✨️ scared ✨️ and ✨️ lost ✨️ and ✨️ need help ✨️
also i spent the whole day reading kylux fics, like that's literally all i did, i'm way too prone to addictions it's scary (i'm glad the exams are behind me lol)
i love ✨️ sparkles ✨️ btw
One of us one of us ONE OF US!!!! I got you!!! Comme quoi it pays to be insane about stuff you like online. Anyway. Never worry about bothering me I am mentally ill about things on here for people to come up to me and say hi me too. I rewrote this a few times but it shoouuld be somewhat coherent.
Okay first there is objectively too much SW stuff for a normal person coming in right now with stuff to do during the day to go through in its entirety. The main stuff are the 6/9 main movies, which you've seen so you're good on that... and now I'm going to establish the concept of canon vs legends. If you've heard people talk about the extended universe/univers étendu, that's the old name of legends, but basically they're two different timelines. Canon is the 9 main movies, the The Clone Wars stuff, and everything serious Disney has done since they bought the franchise: Rogue One and Solo, and the TV shows Rebels, The Bad Batch, The Mandalorian (& The Book of Boba Fett), Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Andor. This is the timeline you're familiar with, but it's recent. Before this became the accepted canon, the 'official' 'true' version of events, there was just the extended universe/legends stuff, basically authorised fancy published fanfic, and sometimes one of the concepts created in those books/comics/games/role-playing games was made canon by being included in the more official, Lucas-made stuff, or was considered canon by the fanbase because most people were aware of the thing and liked it (like Mara Jade, Luke's wife in the legends timeline, who doesn't exist in canon). Basically if Lucas/Disney made it OR it's super popular it's canon otherwise it's just kind of fanfic that's tolerated as long as it doesn't contradict the canon stuff. I hope that was clear enough lol
So there's the main movies, and after that the most popular movies & shows are The Clone Wars (2008). There was a Clone Wars 2D series in 2003 but we're talking about the 2008 3D film and the following TV series here (though Anakin's design is funky in 2003 CW, but it shows different events because it's a legends series not a canon one). The movie is set at the start of the Clone Wars, a little after episode 2, and it introduces one of the most famous SW characters that's not even mentioned in any of the movies. Ahsoka Tano is Anakin's Padawan, she's a cool looking alien, chatty, she's like 5 years younger than him, and she starts out cringey but the general consensus on her is everyone likes her (that's because her creator, Dave Filoni, was in charge of most of the series, and you can tell he really played favourites with his OCs, and since she's not really a Mary Sue she's just extremely cool). If you're interested in the Prequels era you have to be aware of her at minima. You've probably seen art of her, her design is super cool. Ahsoka appears in TCW, but also in Rebels, the Mandalorian & Book of Boba Fett, and she's going to get her own series this year.
The thing with TCW is the first like, 3 seasons are generally "lighthearted" fluff about Jedi life and the war and the clones (as lighthearted as you get during a war, let's say it doesn't feel Super Serious because you know they all make it), but seasons 4 and 5 are closer to the end of the war and get more serious episodes, and then seasons 6 and 7 I haven't seen yet but they're I presume even less lighthearted and even more plotty. There was also a huge gap in when the seasons came out, which explains the tone differences, notably for S7 which is kind of not about the war anymore but just about Ahsoka and what she does after the Empire's rise I think? I'll give you detailed episodes but at least the episodes people recommend watching are the stuff with (Darth) Maul (you're into men so there's a good chance you will be into him - I'm ace and I regularly experience the closest thing I can to sexual attraction when I see him on screen because they animated him in a very...... in a Way that is. yeah), and then probably the 2/3/4 episode arcs that tell a coherent story (Rako Hardeen, Umbara, Zygerria, the Clovis stuff, the baby Padawans on Illum, 99, the Ahsoka stuff at the end of S5, etc). Personally I think the movie might be worth it to establish the characters, it's not super good but at least that way you have an idea of who's who. Once again I'll give you a list with all the details later, but I'm assuming you're not going to want to watch the like, hundred episodes when a good part of that is 'Ahsoka looses her lightaber and learns an Important Lesson about Patience retrieving it', 'R2 & 3PO go on an errand for three episodes' or 'droids are incompetently looking for a mcguffin for four episodes'. There's like an episode that explains why Chewie and Yoda know each other I think too, so that's neat if you're interested. The short answer is that Yoda fought on Kashyyyk during the war and that's Chewie's planet. I'll bury it here but if you want a good website to watch stuff, r/FREEMEDIAHECKYEAH has lists of sites that work (I recommend watching/reading SW stuff in english personally)
You mentioned Rogue One and Solo in your ask so I'll talk about these too: Rogue One is generally thought to be really good (at least in my circles?), it's set right before ep4, the characters are good, and generally it's a recommended watch. Personally I liked it, though not as much as other people seemed to, but the central romance is neat, and I cried at the end (and everyone liked Chirrut, for good reasons). Solo is kind of less good, but one of the main characters gave me adult movie Remus vibes in a way, it has a Maul appearance at the end for the people who watched TCW, and it gives unnecessary backstory for Han. Also Donald Glover looks good.
The Mandalorian is I think a pretty good entry point to the universe, at least seasons 1-2, because the main character doesn't know anything about the lore of the universe, so the show explains who's who what's what and all that. That said season three came out a few months ago and I haven't seen that so I don't know how badly they fucked it up, but they already pulled a shitty one on the audience by having like three crucial extremely plot relevant episodes of the show after the climax of S2 happen in another show, The Book of Boba Fett, instead of putting them in S3, so. Yeah. The other animated shows I haven't watched yet, Rebels is apparently really good but in universe it's set after TCW so I want to finish TCW before I get started there (it's been like a year or two since I started TCW, I'm slow), and The Bad Batch get much more mixed reviews so eh, you can see about that one later, it's less important in the general story of the world anyway. Andor was apparently a masterpiece but I can't say cause I haven't seen it. Visions also is a thing, haven't seen it but it's like, anime loosely set in the SW universe? It looks cool. If you're interested in Padawan stuff, there's Tales of the Jedi, which didn't make a lot of waves I think but has episodes focusing on Qui-Gon and episodes focusing on Ahsoka.
I'm going to give it its own paragraph cause in the Obikin sphere (which I am in obviously) this show was a divine miracle but the Obi-Wan Kenobi show, though it got shat on by other fans for being too silly or something, was to me really good. I feel like it really goes in depth with the Anakin-Obi-Wan relationship, and I remember every time an episode dropped my dash would be full of gifs of new interactions and new lines of dialogue of them being absolutely insane about each other canonically for real. It was wild, it was great, it was a fantastic high. It's 6x 1h, so I think it's fairly watchable compared to all the other longer stuff. It's more about the personal relationship between them, as people, but that's inevitably linked to the Master-Padawan relationship too (there's a good scene of them just before the war sparring at the Temple in episode... 4 if memory serves me right).
Then it's going to be mostly legends stuff, and at that level you just need to pick a direction and dig a little. Off the top of my head, here are different niches I've seen people be into/pists of where you might want to look: there's the old Jedi Apprentice books, aimed at a younger audience, that talk about Obi-Wan's padawanship, though they've been made explicitly non-canon by the recent Padawan book by Kiersten White (which was apparently good, and featured the one line where Obi-Wan says he wouldn't mind kissing any of his friend group but wouldn't want to do anything else, which prompted homophobes to explode and The Gays to celebrate even if we knew), or for more Qui-Gon-Obi-Wan stuff, there's the Master & Apprentice book; there's people who are way way into the clones, but that has more of a Marauders fandom vibe because individual clones don't get that much screentime, so you can see people whose fave is the equivalent of Dorcas Meadowes and who just make their own stuff up in their corner; there's the Mandalorians fans, which I personally cannot stand the majority of because most of the legends Mando stuff (that might have been made non-canon by S3 of the Mandalorian?) was written by Karen Traviss, a woman whom I personally do Not vibe with (come back for the rant later if you're interested), but that's a possibility too, you do you; there's the novelisations of the movies, though the only one that I hear about is the ep3 novelisation by Stover which is a really great piece of literature... and also very homoerotic with the Anakin-Obi-Wan relationship; there's the Aftermath trilogy which makes the transition between ep6 and ep7 and explains how we went from no Empire to the First Order, with cool characters (ie Sinjir whom I love and who is canonically if subtly gay); if you're curious about legends stuff and you want to know who Mara Jade and Thrawn are (if you've never heard their names before they're really popular, Thrawn appears in Rebels as well, he's cool and part of a popular ship in the wider fandom) you'll want to read Heir to the Empire by Timothy Zahn (also introduced the name Coruscant for the capital!). Obviously I am Highly Biased, this is stuff I know off the top of my head, but it should let you explore some different eras and characters. Heir to the Empire (& the rest of the books in that series) is definitely a classic in terms of legends stuff though, if you want to check out the fan favourites.
For comics I don't really read those so you'd have better luck either looking at rec lists online or just wandering around Wookieepedia until you find something that looks cool, but if you just want to read a quick thing, the Age of Star Wars series is neat. It's a series split in the three trilogies eras, and in each era it focuses on 4 heroes and 4 villains. Age of Republic has issues for Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Anakin & Padmé + Maul, Jango, Dooku & Grievous; Age of Rebellion for Leia, Han, Lando & Luke + Tarkin, Boba, Jabba & Vader; Age of Resistance for Finn, Poe, Rose & Rey + Phasma, Hux, Snoke & Kylo. If any of those interest you, you can find them on comics websites (like for example a website that would let you read comic online. for example. cough cough. I'm so subtle.) What I would NOT recommend are the Rise of Kylo Ren comics, they're just... I didn't like the artstyle, I didn't like the way it told the story of Kylo falling to the dark side, I really didn't like the careless way it both makes Kylo's relationship with Snoke worse but also doesn't address it at all, it was a big miss for me, Kylux fanfics do it better. If you're curious it's not a long read though. Can't help you more with comics, I haven't gone there much.
In general if you find a character/planet/species/group/etc that interests you specifically, you can go on Wookieepedia and go down to the appearances section, where you can see all the places that thing appears/is mentioned, in I believe in-universe chronological order.
I don't think canon does a lot of explaining the magic if you will, if it does I don't know where. You can try looking in a specific species' tag on here to check out what other people think of their biology maybe, but yeah I don't really know otherwise. In general canon does a lot of 'that guy's a spider. don't ask. shut up he's a spider that walks on his legs and that's it. no lore no culture no nothing he looks cool and evil. bam. we're killing him next episode anyway' but there are also 'little diagrams of the different parts of a lightsaber' moments (I know there's a drawing in the The Jedi Path book somewhere of the anatomy of Obi-Wan's saber). Good luck with that, I wouldn't know where to find it.
If you have questions you can look at @/gffa's sidebar to check out questions they've answered/what they rec, or ask them directly. They're The ressource for SW stuff in my mind, because they're pretty thorough when they answer I feel like. Once again, Obikin bias, be warned, but maybe they'll know where there's some more scientific stuff? They certainly read more than me haha.
I think that's all, I'm going to write down a non-exhaustive but very long list of TCW episodes I think are neat, with a summary behind to help you quickly decide if it's your jam or not. The order is arbitrary, it's half order of importance half chronological, but there's nothing specific from seasons 6-7, because I haven't seen them yet. (the format is episode number x season number, just in case)
Undoubtedly, the Maul stuff: that's the events of ep 5x16, which rest on eps 1, 14 & 15x5 (the start of the plotline that leads to the events), which themselves rest on eps 19-20-21-22x4 (who are the characters that are important and what are they doing here), but also on eps 12-13-14x2 (who are the other characters and what are they doing here), and on the other episodes where Ventress appears, but you can ignore her, just know that the bald lady with the red lightsabers is Dooku's apprentice early on before they part ways (but she's still a bad guy afterwards)
Random stuff that isn't too heavy: 6-7x1, Anakin looses R2 and goes looking for him; 11-12x1, which has some fun Anakin-Obi-Wan-Dooku banter AND Hondo (everyone likes Hondo); 17-18x1 which have the threat of death hanging over the main characters because of an evil scientist and some cool alien designs; (19-)20-21x1, the Ryloth arc where you can see clones being nice and the Jedi being cool, plus Twi'leks (I put the first episode of the arc in parentheses because it's not necessary to watch it to get the idea of what's going on); 8x2 which is the last part of a 5-ep storyline about mind-controlling brain worms, I recommend it because you'll probably like the interactions between Ahsoka and her friend Bariss + Bariss gets relevant waaay later; 16x2 which has the spider guy I mentioned that I like a lot and a bit at the start where I honest to god thought for a split second Obi-Wan and Anakin were going to kiss; 9x3, it follows 22x1 but you can go in kinda blind, it's just a little buckwild with its characters and I think you'll like Quinlan (if you do he appears more in some books & comics, and he's in fanfics a lot because he and Obi-Wan have a fun dynamic)
The Clovis stuff: Rush Clovis is an ex friend of Padmé that Anakin is really jealous of, he appears in 4x2 (and comes back in 5-6-7x6) and if you want to see Anakin behave like a jealous shit that's a good episode.
The Zillo Beast arc! 18-19x2, includes a big beastie, Palpatine being evil and kicking a dog (the beastie) to prove it, and Anakin's disability being visible. I give it here because it's often a trope in fics to have Palpatine killed by the Zillo Beast but it's not plot significant.
Clones stuff if you're interested: 5x1, with the first appearance of a group of clones that come back later; 10x2, it's part two of a plotline but the interesting clone stuff is mostly just in part two, in it there's an exploration of the clones outside of war (which they have literally been designed and created for); 1-2x3, introduce 99 who's neat and are mostly focused on clones
Padawan Lost arc: 21-22x3, Ahsoka being hunted for sport (literally), she kicks ass, and Chewie + another character I like show up in ep22
the Umbara arc: 7-8-9-10x4, a Jedi General is a real asshole to the clones we like, it's a little heavier and you can feel the transition from lighthearted start of the war stuff to the more depressing stuff that comes afterwards
the Zygerria arc: 11-12-13x4, the arc in which Obi-Wan gets hit & injured every episode I think, with cool designs because there's more Togruta and they look cool (warning though the Zygerrians are slavers, they enslave people). There's a cool moment at the end for Rex if you end up liking him (he's Anakin & Ahsoka's clone captain and one of the most important clones)
the Rako Hardeen arc: 15-16-17-18x4, more Obi-Wan violence! it's one of the arcs Obikin tumblr doesn't shut up about because basically Obi-Wan fakes his death and doesn't tell Anakin. It could have been better but it's trying something for sure
the Onderon stuff: 2-3-4-5x5, it's Ahsoka dealing with Romance (a little bit, the character she has Romance stuff with is already established from earlier seasons but you don't need to know him, just know he has a history with Ahsoka and he used to be a Separatist, ie on the wrong side) and I think you could like Steela & Saw Gerrera? Saw appears in Rogue One later on, but he's from TCW. The arc is about helping him, his sister and their people regain control of their planet.
the younglings: 6-7-8-9x5, little Jedi kiddos who go on their first big adventure to get their lightsaber crystal and then have to fight to come back home. They're really cute, the droid is voiced by David Tennant, and you can see Hondo in the last episode I think.
and finally, the arc you also gotta watch because it explains why Ahsoka isn't mentioned in ep3 when she was Anakin's Padawan and this boy gets attached way too fast: 17-18-19-20x5, which begins with Ahsoka and Anakin investigating a bombing in the Jedi Temple and ends with Ahsoka leaving. I put off watching it for so long because it's sad :(((
probably also the rest of the seasons, but you'll have to look at Wookieepedia descriptions to see if something sounds interesting (if I were you I'd focus on the Ahsoka stuff later on, apparently she does some cool interesting stuff). Wookieepedia has pages for every season and every episode with short & detailed summaries.
That'll be all, congrats on reading all that, ask me about stuff if you want I love never shutting up about this, I have discord if you want to chat, please give me impressions if you do end up watching/reading anything. Good luck with this monstrosity of a list lol.

After watching Chapter 20: The Foundling (s03e04), I think I finally figured out why Children of the Watch bugs me so much. Ironically this is not just about the helmet rule even though at this point in the story I find it hysterically hilarious how the show doesn’t follow its own worldbuilding. Like Din got kicked out from the Tribe because he took off his helmet and Armorer - who usually is fair and act as the voice of reason - didn’t even bother to ask for the reason behind it (and at least one time was about Din getting medical help and the other, if I remember correctly, was done to save Grogu) with moment before Paz Vizsla claiming he has never took off his helmet because this is the way but now Children of the Watch take off the helmets to eat like no big deal, when we already saw Din eating while not revealing fully his face? Like, sorry, either you are not allowed to take that blasted thing (about what we have two seasons and a bit Book of Boba Fett) or you are allowed to do so in certain situations but if the letter is true, then not asking Din for reason behind his action and just kicking him out on spot is so… jerk move. Double so, when Armorer claims that saving a Foundling is the “highest honor of the Creed '' and isn’t it what all Din’s actions are about through the last two seasons?
I sidetracked.
Anyway, the mentioned scene of Mandalorians scattering around to eat alone so other people don't see their faces (the act of removing the helmet) is what frustrated me so much about this group. Children of the Watch are recognized as a Mandalorian community but they don’t feel much to be one?
On one hand, the show established that members of the Children of the Watch:
support each other in various ways. Like coming to aid a fellow Mandalorian in fight whatever said members are on good terms or not (Paz and Din in the first season) or providing material goods, as we are both shown (with Din) and told (by Armorer) that “It is a tradition [...] for each to donate a small portion of what they earn to the foundlings”. So those who earn money or get their hands on anything special like beskar, support the most vulnerable ones (orphans) of their Tribe. Which is definitely a positive aspect of their community (even if so far we see only(?) Din to wander through the galaxy and actually earn money and share them with his people).
celebrate (witness) together an important moments of individual members like the ceremonial accepting Creed by Ragnar or Din’s official return after Armorer confirmed his proof about Living Waters
train together and the older (more experienced) members act as mentors
organize a searching (war) party for a child abducted by predator animal
So it can’t be denied that Children of the Watch is a community in which all members take part in the social life of the Tribe, and all play some specific roles. The adults mentor the less experienced people and act as protectors in times of danger, Armorer is providing knowledge and guidance but also (alongside Paz Vizsla?) guards tradition and “punishes” for breaking the rules - and it is important to note she is usually presented as fair judge, as it was seen with Din and Paz’s rocky relationship through the all seasons.
On another hand we don’t see Children of the Watch (beside Armorer and Paz) interact with Din or Bo in any meaningful way that builds the feeling of truly belonging to this little society or even between each other in background? And here comes my realization with the rescue group sitting around the fireplace. The food was distributed, Bo’s position as leader acknowledged by Paz and then… everyone went on their own to eat in solitude. Which is so anticlimactic in regard to building any personal connection between Tribe and newcomer. They were a rescue group, on “enemy” territory (with some dangerous local fauna, there could be more hungry predators lurking in the night) and instead of sharing the warmth of firework, the sitting (eating) by the fire is treated as privilege.

Eating together and sharing food with your community is a universal bonding experience and it is no wonder that Bo-Katan is out of her depth so much in that scene, when one remembers she was for years part of Death Watch. And we know thanks to The Clone Wars (a tie-in material from the same New Canon) that Death Watch feasted together (A Friend in Need)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
or even during Pre and Maul talk about alliance - a pretty important moment for both involved parties - there was one warrior who apparently chose to eat/drink between his folks rather than sitting (alone) somewhere else.

Hell, even when Din and Boba Fett seek her in the previous season, she and Koska also ate a meal together.
Tumblr media
Of course, those little scenes are just glimpses at life of other mandalorian groups, but there is drastic contrast between Children of the Watch (eat alone so no one see you removing helmet/showing face) and what Bo-Katan experienced within two separate communities (Death Watch and her clan/followers). And I think this is the reason why Children of the Watch doesn’t feel like a true community to me. Sure, they train together and take part in ceremonies and aid each other in fight, but there is little of actual personal relationship? Little of normal things the community do together like exactly eating and sharing a place by the fire?
And there is something really bothering how the morally dubious Death Watch act as a community, not only with the training, but also eating a meal together or talking with each other - what could be observed in various scenes between the unnamed members.
Tumblr media
In general I think TCW provided a better feeling of Death Watch’s daily life outside of combat than The Mandalorian show did for the Children of the Watch. It is doubly weird that Pre Vizsla of all people bothered to offer Maul a tea when they were making alliance as a gesture of goodwill and/or playing the good host role
Tumblr media
while Bo-Katan (a newcomer) is left to eat alone because no one is allowed to remove the helmet in company thus can’t eat together. Come to think about it, Bo-Katan too offered to share her food with Grogu and Din in the “Mines of Mandalore” which adds to the feeling how food - as bonding / belonging to community - means a lot to her or Mandalorian in general.
Additional feeling of the not-so-good community sense comes from the same episode and is about how Ragnar could walk away from the group unnoticed when apparently Children of the Watch are perfectly aware of dangerous predators lurking around. And the kid walked to the edge of the water from which Tribe was already attacked by a beast and for some reason no one noticed it? Like Din was there when Ragnar just walked away but he was too busy praising Grogu even though, as the adult and part of the community he was responsible for other (especially less experienced) members. He however could have zero knowledge of the flying predator that may snatch the kid but the Tribe living there knew but did not bother to guard their children better? As was shown, they didn’t put anyone on guard duty to make sure those training together were safe or to keep an eye on kids wandering away from the group? You know, to not repeat the tragedy that already befall on their community in the recent past? It is especially weird to me, because the whole episode put so much pressure on how saving a foundling (or child in general) is the most honorable part of the Creed yet the Children of the Watch, as a collective, did not provide the safety to the most vulnerable members as they could despite the knowledge about danger and already experienced tragedy.
And sure, we could argue hey this kid is a sworn Mandalorian and maybe the Mando doesn’t fret about children safety as we, the no-warrior people, do. But the thing is, none of the monsters the Tribe faced was something a single adulr warrior could beat alone. It was always a community effort to beat them - and mind you, the “water beast” ultimately was killed by fire from Din’s spaceship so it is not something that a lonely kid could achieve on his own. The flying monster also was defeated because of cooperation of several warriors (though they maybe could kill it faster if the animal didn’t hold the kid). Which is why I find the execution of the plot weak from the in-universe perspective, as this tragedy was easy to avoid if only the Tribe bothered a bit more with common sense and security (something they were much more focused on in the first season?)
Of course, the show is an ongoing project so maybe the future episodes will change my mind about Children of the Watch, but for now I have very mixed feelings about them as the Mandalorian community. They are built as one for sure but they don’t really feel like a real community so far to me. Especially not compared to Death Watch, as was presented by the same New Canon.
