The theme for Hogwarts Legacy was playing as he was adjusting his camera, your eyes watching him closely and trying to fight the smile stretching across your face. You were sure the viewers could see you staring, considering you were sitting in the chair directly next to him, on camera. His eyes dropped from the screen as he grabbed his controller.

“Alright guys, so, we’re playing Hogwarts Legacy tonight, but I have a special guest with me, as you all can see.” He turned his head and met your eyes, his own smile growing and his cheeks tingeing pink as he caught you already staring. Introduce yourself, he mouthed. You turned to face the camera, grinning wider than before as your eyes scanned over the chat.

“Hey guys, I’m the guest, obviously. My name is Y/n.” You said.

“Yes, you have to create a whole character, is that not what you were expecting when you begged me to play this game?” He teased. You rolled your eyes and adjusted the headset, making sure the ear that was on his side was exposed so you could hear him.

“This is ridiculous, I can’t believe you didn’t tell me I had to create an entire chara—oh my God I can have pink hair, I take it back.” You rambled, scrambling through the hair colors. Matt’s laugh next to you had you grinning as your eyes flickered between the screen and the chat.

“I never understood why you can’t see those weird horse things until that dude gets eaten by the dragon.” Matt said, catching your attention enough for you to glance at him with wide eyes and a slack jaw. You sighed through your nose and shook your head.

“I forgot, you’re a fake fan.” You said, interrupting him before he could fire back. “They’re thestrals, you can only see them if you’ve witnessed death, but they’re always there.” You explained, Matt furrowing his eyebrows as you faced the screen again.

“Food’s here, just thought you guys should know.” He said, Matt nodding his head. Chris left the room, and Matt turned to you.

“I’ll go get it.” He said, standing from the chair as you turned to face him. Before you could process it, he leaned down and pressed his lips to yours firmly and turned to leave the room. You smiled and shook your head before facing the screen and realizing what just happened.

Chats were flying in at such a rapid pace that it felt as though everything on the screen was lagging. It was completely screwing up how you were playing, not only your racing heart and shaking hands on the controller.

You completely short circuited, having no idea what to do as Matt walked back into his room. He was laughing at something Chris had said as he sat down next to you and glanced over at the chat.

“Oh.”

You looked over at him and raised your eyebrows, your skin on fire as you watched his eyes scan over the rapid chats flying in at once.

“Yeah.” You said, Matt finally meeting your eyes with pink cheeks. He smiled and shrugged his shoulders, leaning in and pressing a soft kiss to your nose before he sat back and grinned widely.

Hello!! So, I saw an argument about Harry's uhm looks? I guess. A lot of people basically headcanon him as someone buff. I digress, I'm part of the uhm more realistic? group. Harry's been starved and abused his entire life. I doubt he'll gain the weight and the height everyone else wants him to have. Years later. maybe. But in 6th year? While on the run? 3 years after the war? Doubt. do you think he would be able to get super tall and buff? Also, do you think its possible he used the same methods the dursleys used to punish himself?

I mean, anyone can headcanon whatever they want, but, I'll try to explain via quotes, what Harry's height and muscle situation is likely to be. I believe the reasons some headcanon him as buff and tall are:

Harry had pinned Mundungus against the wall of the pub by the throat. Holding him fast with one hand, he pulled out his wand.

He lifts Mundungus by his throat with one hand easily, and he practices Quidditch like 3 times a week at least. This implies that Harry has some muscle on him.

And he's mentioned to be James' height when he's 17:

James was exactly the same height as Harry.

Which was supposedly tall, according to both, Harry:

tall and untidy-haired like Harry, the smoky, shadowy form of James Potter

And Voldemort:

Now, let's put Harry's height in the context of other character heights. Particularly of interest are characters taller than him, to get an image of how tall is "tall." And some shorter characters to help figure out his exact height.

Sirius, Ron, Voldemort, and Dumbledore are all taller than Harry and exceptionally tall in general. They are each likely to be over 6 feet tall, making Harry likely less than 6' (183 cm). Supporting this is this quote:

Once the painful transformation was complete he was more than six feet tall, and from what he could tell from his well-muscled arms, powerfully built.

This means Harry is less than 6' and isn't super buff. But, I want to get to his specific height, because I have a lot to say about character heights.

Like, Dumbledore is probably the tallest character who isn't a half-giant because he's towering over everyone except Hagrid and Maxime. In book 6, he's literally taller than all the inferi in the cave:

Dumbledore was on his feet again, pale as any of the surrounding Inferi, but taller than any too,

And Abeforth (who's as tall as Dumbledore) is taller than Ron, who's one of the other tallest characters in the books:

Ron looked slightly sick. Aberforth stood up, tall as Albus, and suddenly terrible in his anger and the intensity of his pain.

Making the Dumbledores really tall. My estimate is around a whooping 6'5 (195 cm).

Sirius is mentioned to be taller than Snape, and the tallest Marauder:

said Sirius, standing up. He was rather taller than Snape

To Sirius’s right stood Pettigrew, more than a head shorter

A head, in height, should be around one foot (30.48 cm). As the average height of a man in England in 1998 was around 5'8 (174.4 cm), this would make Sirius around 6'2 (188 cm), therefore taller than average, and Pettigrew around 5'2 (157 cm), shorter than the average, but still both at a reasonable height.

Ron is almost as tall as the twins at 11:

“Shut up,” said Ron again. He was almost as tall as the twins already and his nose was still pink where his mother had rubbed it.

Voldemort who grew up on war rations is still described very consistently as tall, regardless of childhood malnourishment:

Taller than Bellatrix (who's taller than Harry). Voldemort is also considerably taller than Pettigrew, as he has to bend to reach Pettigrew's arm when both are standing:

I usually place Voldemort at around the same height as Ron, so 6'3 (190 cm).

Fred and George, though, are mentioned to be shorter and stockier, more similar to Molly's build:

but are mentioned to shrink to become Harry in book 7:

Hermione and Mundungus were shooting upward; Ron, Fred, and George were shrinking

I actually place the twins around 6' (183 cm) so they could be taller than Harry, but shorter than Ron. The twins are likely taller than Charlie.

Bellatrix, as a woman, should also be shorter on average, but considering how tall Sirius is mentioned to be, it appears the Blacks are just considerably taller than the average, even the women:

So where does this place Harry?

During the first 4 books, Harry is short and small for his age. When he's 13, he and Hermione are bit shorter than Pettigrew:

He was a very short man, hardly taller than Harry and Hermione.

(Ron, noticeably, is taller than Pettigrew at 13)

So, so Harry at 13 was around 5'1 (155 cm). And so was Hermione.

Then in between books 4 and 5 puberty kicks in and probably causes a slight growth spurt that makes him more attractive to girls around him:

Parvati Patil and Lavender Brown, the last two of whom gave Harry airy, overly friendly greetings that made him quite sure they had stopped talking about him a split second before. He had more important things to worry about, however:

Post book 6 growth spurt, we know Harry is below 6' (183 cm) but close enough to 6' to be above the average of 5'8 (174.4 cm) and be considered "tall", and grow "about a foot" after said growth spurt.

I personally place his height at 5'11 (180 cm), to make all of the above make sense.

And while he is physically fit, he is likely very thin from years of malnourishment. So, he likely has some muscle on him, but he's very lean with little to no fat during his Hogwarts years (he'd likely gain more weight as an adult living peacefully with regular meals). So, Harry in the books isn't what I'd call buff, but he has some muscle and can definitely throw a punch. As he grows older post-canon, I think he could get buff if he set his mind to it.

(I actually have notes about the height of a bunch of other characters. Hermione is shorter than Harry and Ron, but noticeably taller than Ginny (5'1 or 155 cm - edited Ginny's height since I think she's shorter than the former estimate of 5'2. Bellatrix says “Very well — take the smallest one,” with Hermione and Luna (who's also short) present, so Ginny is really short) and probably around 5'4 (162 cm) by book 7. Draco is said to be slightly taller than Harry "Harry did not dare look directly at Draco, but saw him obliquely; a figure slightly taller than he was" - DH, placing Draco at around 6' (183 cm))

For your other question, no, I don't think Harry self-harms, definitely not in any way related to the Dursleys, but that's a different post because I went off about heights.

Nobody had seen the fifth year slip the amortentia into Daniels drink. He was unaware as he reached for it.

But, before he could take a sip, it was snatched from him. "Thanks Danny," she said as, entirely unaware, she downed the drink spiked with love potion in one go.

Even as she went running off to the library to catch up with her homework she didn't know. Maybe if she had stopped to take a sniff of the clear liquid before she drank, she would have known what it was.

But she was still unaware as she cracked open her charms book.

She wasn't thinking about charms, though. No, from the moment she opened her book, she was thinking about Charles Leclerc.

The Gryffindor had her heart from the moment they met, but she hadn't been brave enough to say anything. Maybe that was why she was in Hufflepuff. Because she couldn't even admit to a boy that she liked him.

But Charles had never run through her mind this much. He only knew who she was because of Lando and Daniel, her housemates.

Soon her work was forgotten. As she tried to write her homework, she ended up writing his name over and over again, completely wasting her parchment.

Shaking out of it, she stood up. She slung her back over her shoulder and left the library.

What i think (some) of the next gen kids are like when they're sick:

Scorpius: I've already done a whole post on this but I have no idea how to link posts despite being on this site for years. the short version is, he was a sick child and constantly in and out of hospital so now he cannot gauge when he's actually really sick and needs to just rest, so albus has to forcibly keep him in the dorm or hospital wing otherwise he will still try and go to class even if actively dying

Albus: he's lowkey so dramatic. if he has a small cold you WILL be hearing about it, BUT he's super subtle. he will casually tie it into conversation to make you feel sorry for him and just keep bringing it up until youre like aw no, im so sorry man. he doesnt try with rose anymore, because she will just mock him, she knows what hes doing. he's most obvious about it to Scorpius, he'll start pouting and be like I feel sick 🥺🥺 and Scorpius is immediately like oh poor baby 🥺🥺/gen and does in fact baby him until he feels better

Rose: does not get sick and its infuriating. when there's some kind of bug going around the school, you can guarantee this girl will not get it. she thinks everyone is just being dramatic and trying to get out of class. don't come to her for sympathy unless you actually look like you're on deaths door. the most sympathy surprisingly goes to Scorpius because she has seen this idiot try to attend class whilst not being able to function properly and be escorted out

Hugo: he doesnt get sick often, like a slightly below average getting sick, but my version of hugo is so unbothered by everything, he would end up in hospital or whatever but wont tell anyone, not on purpose, he just never goes out of his way to mention anything until it specifically comes up in conversation. Hes the random kid that pops up, says he has a relevant anecdote, tells you the wildest story youve ever heard so casually, youre left like???? what the fuck?? and how has that never come up before????, then he just dissapears again

James: gets so mopey, he gets so restless and hates having to sit and wait to get better. he'll enjoy not having to go to class for like one day but when you tell him he can't go anywhere or play quidditch or anything he's immediately over it like, 😟😟 wdym??? wdym I have to just lie here until I'm better??? lemme out!!!! LEMME OUT!!!!

Lily: lowkey whiny. she's not usually super whiny but she acts like a little kid when she's sick and will constantly frown and pout and cross her arms and kick her legs. collateral of being the youngest sibling lmao. she wants people to do everything for her and will shout for people to come get the TV remote or something that's only like 2 feet away from her and just shake her arm at it until you pass it. Ginny and Harry do it for her, her brothers do not lmao

Victorie: doesn't usually get sick-sick often, but I headcanon her as being a general athlete, she likes to do triathlons in her spare time, and if she gets injured she literally has to not be able to walk before she stops. she will just keep going. have you seen female footballers? the way they will be wacked in the head and start bleeding everywhere but then be like meh I can keep going. so her.

Louis: cannot stand the wanting to throw up kind of sick. he can deal with anything else, he has a pretty good immune system, he can pretty much carry on with normal stuff, and you won't even realise he's sick, but the second he feels stomach sickness, he is pale as a ghost and out for business. lowkey has emetaphobia, he will just sit so still until he doesn't feel like that anymore trying to make it go away by just 🧍🏻‍♂️if I don't move it won't know I'm here, yk lmao. hates throwing up so fucking bad

Roxanne: takes the sickness as some kind of personal test. is dramatic in the sense that she will go full warrior mode and be like 😈 i will survive 😈 I will not be beaten by these pitiful germs 😈 and will absolutely just rock her way through it, she talks like she's on some kind of quest, and that this is some kind of evaluation of her perseverance

Fred: just lies there. will not move until he's better. doesn't get really dramatic or complain but god forbid you try and make him do something, he'll start going off about how normalised it is for people to push themselves when sick because society wants people to work themselves to death, and doesn't actually care about anyone's health, and everyone just gets so sick of hearing him, they leave him alone

what would have happened if Draco killed Dumbledore on the roof?

Let's start from the beginning.

Harry now witnesses Draco murder Dumbledore and has much the same reaction he did when Snape did it. At first, he's stunned in horror (as I imagine is Draco) and then Snape quickly gets Draco out as fast as he can, much as he did in canon. Harry likely still has his confrontation with Snape where "lol lol lol I am the Half-blood Prince" is revealed because that was a subplot that we were told was very important, and Harry doesn't catch up to them.

We get slight differences here in that Harry admits he saw Draco be the one to murder Dumbledore, as opposed to Snape, but he's certain Snape is guilty as he got Draco out versus getting revenge. Unlike canon, I imagine the rest remain unsure for the reasons they weren't certain the entire novel. Snape has to maintain his cover, which means protecting Draco and getting him out of the castle, with Dumbledore dead maintaining his cover is now more important than ever.

So, Harry seethes and is convinced he is correct, but Snape isn't kicked out of the Order and Grimmauld Place isn't abandoned as a safehouse (the issue in canon being that Snape had access and when Dumbledore died everyone because the secret keeper, which meant Snape could get in, and he turned out to be a Death Eater so... that's bad).

However, Harry's still been given his super secret task from Dumbledore, which he presumes Snape nor anyone else knows about, tells Ron and Hermione, and considers the Order to have been infiltrated by Snape.

The main difference is that when we get the things like the seven Potters fiasco, Harry thinks Snape is the one who leaked it (which is sort of true in that Snape came up with it but that's not what Harry's going for here). So, I imagine for similar reasons Moody still ends up dying offscreen. Sorry Moody.

Now, ordinarily, I'd say that the first big difference is after the wedding they don't go to Grimmauld Place because it's a) an Order safehouse in use b) Snape has access to it. Except these fuckers went when they fully believed Snape was a Death Eater, when it was possibly crawling with Death Eaters if not You-Know-Who, so they're absolutely going to Grimmauld Place.

The difference is that it gets weird when others show up, for Order things, see Ron, Harry, and Hermione and ask what they're doing and the gang says "SECRET THINGS YOU CAN'T KNOW ABOUT" while planning how to sneak into the Ministry poorly.

The next difference is that they might not leave Grimmauld Place. They left in canon when they clued in that perhaps, given the number of Death Eaters staking out the place, it's not a good idea to be there and perhaps isn't secure. Here, even though Harry fully believes Snape is a spy, he also believes Grimmauld Place is a functional safehouse and secure. However, they need to find other Horcruxes, and they have to secure the one they have, so maybe they do go camping again.

There they hear Snape's a shitty headmaster and Harry goes, "SEE? SEE?" much the way he did about Draco in the sixth book to an unimpressed Ron and Hermione. The miserable camping goes on for a long time as the gang is really bad at it and eventually Snape gets them the sword and pretends it's not him (because he knows Harry would probably throw it out afterwards).

So, now they can destroy Horcruxes, hooray.

What may be... game changing and bad is that Snape was no longer the one to kill Dumbledore. Draco was and Voldemort knows this. The reason he originally killed Snape was "lol want to try out this wand thing", but Snape wasn't the master of the wand, because they'd already planned Dumbledore's murder. Draco, who would have killed Dumbledore otherwise was... uh... don't question this or any of Deathly Hallows for reasons. (No, seriously, how did Draco get it when he didn't kill Dumbledore?)

But anyways, per book 7 logic, Voldemort kills off Draco instead. "Well, Draco, you served me well but now you get to be eaten by a snake". Voldemort now has possession of the elder wand and there's nothing Snape can do about it.

If this is truly the reason Harry was able to beat Voldemort in that duel at the end of the book...

Harry dies.

Voldemort wins.

From the outside no one would have ever linked you- a rather friendly Gryffindor- with the pretentious Slytherin boy. He himself did not understand how your friendship worked, but it did. After bumping into each other late one night in third year after you’d both been out late getting fresh air, you realized you quite liked talking to him without his usual group of people around. he was calmer by himself, still rude and snarky, but it was tolerable without them fueling his ego. You ended up talking about your mutual love for Arithmancy for quite some time. This topic led to others and before either of you knew it you had been talking until the clock struck midnight. You went your separate ways then, but not before agreeing to meet again the next night.

For the past two years now, every chance you two got to sneak off to the lakes you would. It was your favorite place to sit and talk. you’d pick a spot and lay in the grass for hours, looking up at the stars. Your conversation had begun getting deeper the older you got, and you now know more about Draco Malfoy than you ever thought you would. You cherished your time with the boy, he was a surprisingly good listener and he made your days at Hogwarts more exciting. This was something you wanted to protect. That’s why no one could know about this secret friendship. It was an unspoken rule between the two of you not to talk about it, or talk to each other in public. You didn’t want your peers to dislike you because of your relationship with him, or for them to come between it. So that’s how things were and neither of you seemed to desire to change it.

It was lunchtime and you sat with your usual friends at lunch, a group of Gryffindors that you had known since first year. They giddily discussed the upcoming yule ball that had been announced. You too were excited, already thinking of what dress colors you thought flattered you. The only problem was that you didn’t have a date yet, and you really didn’t know anyone who might ask. Draco came to mind when you imagined who you would want to spend the night with. You reminded yourself that was ridiculous and quickly dismissed the thought. You had zoned out of the conversation your friends were having but your name being called snapped you out of your thoughts.

“ Are you even listening to us?” your friend chuckled.

You mumbled a “ sorry yes something about Harry right?” you had briefly heard harry potters named mentioned.

“ Yes! he was asking about you “ they giggled as they told me.

you looked just as confused as you were feeling. Why on earth would harry potter be asking your friends about you? you had never really talked to potter. most things you knew about him came from Draco’s rants about the boy. But you didn’t find him as enraging as he did.

“ I believe he fancies you. He asked if you had a date to the ball yet”

your heart beats a little faster at this. Was Harry Potter planning on asking you to the ball? You weren’t sure how you’d respond if he did. It was true you didn’t have a date, and harry wasn’t awful company. But your mind drifts back to Draco. He would be upset there was no doubt about that. But Draco was friends with people you didn’t like, and that didn’t stop him. So why should his opinion of people stop you? Besides, you two wouldn’t talk at the yule ball anyways. With that logic you had decided the if Harry potter did ask you to be his date, you would accept.

After a couple days, you still hadn’t told Draco about the information your friends gave you. Which seemed to be the right choice considering harry still hadn’t even talked to you. You began to give up the idea and look for someone else you might want to go with. This was until you were sitting in the library after classes and none other than Harry Potter sits down in the chair beside you. And when he asked the question you had been preparing for, you politely excepted.

Later that evening, as you lay in bed thinking over the events of the day, you found it less exciting to have a date than you thought it would be. In fact, you felt a small sense of dread. And when you tried to figure out why this could be, all thoughts led back to Draco. You did not want to tell him about your plans tonight. You knew he would find out anyways when you and harry showed up to the ball together but the thought of keeping this from him for another week made your stomach hurt worse. So you decided tonight was the night you’d have the conversation with him.

You made your way down to the lake and saw Draco already there. You noticed he was not sitting on the grass, in fact he seemed to be pacing rather quickly. As you got closer you were able to see a scowl on his face, it a was familiar expression but never before directed at you. He was muttering to himself something you couldn’t make out. You approached very slowly and hesitantly, unsure what was going to happen. When he noticed you he stopped pacing and looked at you with an emotion you couldn’t quite make out. He was angry, that was certain but something about it made you feel guilty. He looked like you’d betrayed him.

“ Potter! Of all people him ” He sneered while walking over quickly and stopping right in front of you. “And when were you going to tell me? I had to find out in the hallway from some stupid girls whining over the fact that he didn’t ask them instead. What’s so great about Potter anyways. He’s an annoying git! “

You looked up at him and tried to think of what to say that wouldn’t make the situation worse

“ Well he was the only one who asked me Draco!” you reply crossing your arms “ I didn’t seek him out or anything I just didn’t want to be a loser without a date. “ You admit to him. He takes a step back at this, still angry but not as confrontational.

“ If you were so worried about not having a date you could have said something to me.“ He stated it like this was common sense, which it wasn’t. Your eyes widened and you stood there unblinking as you took in what he just said.

“ What do you mean by that?” You ask after a moment, trying to clarify before you jump to any big conclusions.

“ Well obviously I mean that if you would have said something, I would have taken you myself.“ he matter-of-factly stated once more. He seemed completely serious and unfazed, like this wasn’t something that contradicted the foundation of our friendship for the past two years.

“ have you gone mad?” you question him with an incredulous chuckle. Still trying to make sense of it.

He scoffs at this defensively “ of course i haven’t gone mad. I know perfectly well what Im saying. You’re the one who can’t seem to comprehend a simple sentence, maybe you’ve gone mad!”

“ maybe i have gone mad! because no one even knows that was know each other and you want to show up to the yule ball as what?…a date?” you ask quizzically. This all seemed to be coming from no where. Draco had never shown any desire to make your friendship public and now all of a sudden it seems he wants the whole world to know.

“ It would be better than going with potter! And if anyone says anything about us going together i’ll deal with it. The thought of my best friend going with that.. that horrid potter makes me sick! I would never-“ he gets himself worked up over it again. waving his arms and huffing in annoyance. He continues his ranting but you can’t help but smile over the use of the term “ best friend “. You knew you enjoyed each other’s company but you never quite knew exactly how he felt until now.

“ draco-“ i try to interrupt him but he keeps going about the principle of it all— or something, you had tuned him out.

“ DRACO.” this gets his attention and he stops his yapping on about potter. “ Yes.” you say smiling.

He furrows his eyebrows annoyed that you cut him off, and even more annoyed that you don’t seem to be taking him seriously.“ what are you on about?”

“ yes. “ you repeat walking closer to him“ my answer is yes i’ll go to the ball with you “

Y/n and Joseph were at the moment, signing autographs until it was time to go to comic con to talk a little with the fans.

The line of fans was ending, and Y/n was in the first seat at the table. The fans would go to her first and then move on to the others in the cast, until they got to Joe.

The woman gives her last autograph and walks to where Joseph was sitting, talking to a super friendly fan. Y/n comes from behind and puts his arms on his shoulders, just as the fan leaves. He tilts his head back and smiles passionately.

"He finished?" He asks his girlfriend, until the next fan arrives at his table.

"Yes" Y/n nods and places a quick kiss on his forehead. Thus, taking a step back to let him talk to the fan who had just arrived.

"Can I take a photo with you two? If it's not a bother, of course" The girl says, after Joe signs the movie poster.

Y/n, who was on the cell phone behind her boyfriend, looks up at the girl and smiles friendly.

"Of course I do" Joe and Y/n say together, so the two looking and smiling at each other.

Soon, the girl takes her cell phone out of her bag and takes one or two photos with them. She thanks him and leaves to secure her place near the stage.

As she was the last to sign autographs, the film's cast began organizing their table so they could talk and answer some questions from fans on stage.

It doesn't take long, all the film's protagonists are on stage sitting talking, responding and laughing with the fans.

Y/n was sitting on a high stool, while Joseph was sitting on the edge of the sofa next to her. Meryl Streep and Aaron Taylor were on the same couch as Joe, and Emma Stone was on the other high stool, just on the other side of the stage.

"Sen, how was the experience of working with your boyfriend and on top of that being his love interest in the film?" A fan asks and Y/n adjusts himself in the chair.

"I can't deny that it was an incredible experience, even more so because I spent more time with him. And regarding our characters being a couple in the film, that kind of came naturally, because we are a couple in real life. So there will probably be a lot of scenes that you will watch and you will see that we were not acting. As said, it was as if it was natural to record with him." Y/n responds and places the microphone on his lap while smiling.

Joe smiles shyly on the couch, while looking sideways at his girlfriend.

"Aaron, I have a question for you," a 12-year-old fan says, and he gets ready on the couch. While the other actors looked at him.

"He sends!!" He smiles while saying nice.

"It's not exactly about the movie right now, but what do you think of the rumors that keep going around that you'd make a great James Potter in Harry's universe?" The fan asks and people laugh.

On the set, everyone said he could easily play this character, until his nickname ended up being James.

"Not ironically, but on the set of this movie everyone called me James" He says and the actors laugh. "Especially Y/n and Joe" Aaron looks at the two and the couple shrugs and smiles. "Now to answer your question. I would be super happy to play the character, I'm fascinated by the saga and it would even be an honor for me to play James Potter." Aaron finishes and smiles a little.

"You know what would be more interesting too, that I was watching right now?" Y/n says before anyone else asks questions. Thus, attracting looks towards her. "Looking from up here, Meryl could easily be Euphemia Potter and Aaron James."

Emma who was on the other side widens her eyes and points at Y/n, before saying: "Heavens, I was thinking about that just now!!!" She says excitedly and Y/n is euphoric.

"We're a great duo!!" Y/n gets off the stool and runs to Emma to touch her hand.

People laugh at their excitement.

"I don't know if that's true or if they want to make me happy with the possibility" Meryl says jokingly and they laugh.

"Oh, stop it. Don't you want to be my mother?" Aaron makes fun and they smile.

"No, it was hard enough being your aunt in this film. Imagine mom" she mocks the actor.

"I promise to be an obedient Potter" Aaron says and they laugh at the actor's speech.

"Please, if anyone in the audience has a movie director contact, tell them that Y/n and Emma have already found practically an entire cast for The Marauders movie." Joseph says and they laugh.

As soon as the laughter stops, another fan stands up to ask a question.

"Okay, Joe! Now back to your movie. What was the hardest scene you or you had to shoot?"

Joseph leans forward and rests both elbows on his knees, while holding the microphone and thinking about the many scenes he had recorded.

"Look, that was a great question!!" He sighs thinking. "I think it was one of the last scenes in the movie, where we were in Kansas shooting and Y/n's character died-"

"JOSEPH QUINN!! SHUT UP" Y/n exclaims, throwing his coat that was on his lap towards Joseph.

His eyes widen, after realizing what he said.

"No guys, it's a lie!!!. Y/n's character didn't die. It's another Y/n's character" he tries to change the story, while the rest of the cast laughed and Y/n was desperate.

"No jojoe, stop!!" Y/n says his nickname and puts his face in his palms. "It's making everything worse" she says muffled and the rest laugh.

Y/n raises her head holding back her laugh and looks at her boyfriend.

"If he gets fired or his scenes are no longer in the movie, you already know why!" Y/n says to the audience, but looking at her boyfriend who was now sinking into the sofa.

"He's done a Tom thing now" Emma says remembering her friend years ago with the release of yet another Avengers film.

"Siblings separated in the maternity ward" Aaron says and they laugh.

Y/n didn't know what she was doing with Joe at that time, either she laughed at the situation, which was the best thing to — do, or she went on a sex strike for a month.

Which resulted in her doing both and a whimpering Joe behind her for quite a while.

ooooooo what’s poor kids supper club????

I don't really remember plotting out "poor kids supper club," so odds are I did it in October, during the fever dream that was writing the Promptening. I think I meant for it to be one of the Promptening chapters, but it grew legs and horns and I just set it to the side.

Here's what that doc file contains (still mostly point-form notes):

Muggle AU; basing this on the Canadian university system, as that’s the one I have experience with  Harry sees that Ron is struggling to afford tuition, rent and meals, even with a part-time job and needs-based bursaries, wants to help him out but knows Ron will turn down any direct attempt at assistance (he has before).  Potter parents died in a house fire (James from part of the house falling on him, Lily of smoke inhalation from getting Harry and getting outside) and, due to mismanagement, the Dursleys took the insurance payout for the house - Still mistreated Harry (because they're trash like that) But Harry has some money that his parents set aside for his education, a portion of the insurance payout from his parents’ deaths available to him, and the rest – as well as his modest inheritance – will become available to him once he turns twenty-five, as well as a full-ride scholarship (probably for ⚽), so he’s comfortable. Not absurdly wealthy, but he can afford to be generous. He’s frugal due to his years of starving with the Dursleys – he doesn’t ever want to be at someone else’s financial mercy again. He also knows what it’s like to be the poor, hungry one and not have anyone else to rely on, and he doesn’t want anyone else to feel that way. His godfather also left him a big, totally-not-haunted fixer-upper house when he passed away, so Harry has a place to host these get-togethers – a giant kitchen and huge dining room.  So Harry posts a few signs around campus, especially near the financial aid office, offering dinner to anyone, no questions asked. They just have to give him a couple hours notice, and if they let him know at least a day ahead of time, they can make food requests.  So he drags Ron and Hermione over as often as possible to feed them, and sometimes they’re joined by another person or three, and it becomes something of a supper club. Draco shows up at some point because it’s popular/because Potter/to mock the poor people, and Harry says “really?” and Malfoy answers “You said no questions!” To which Harry shrugs and says “as long as you behave yourself, you can stay.” Tom becomes a fixture, because while he has scholarship money coming out his ears and a part-time job (because he’s not super challenged by the material and has enough time for it), he’s also trying to run with the rich kids, so any extra money he has goes towards better clothes and accoutrements.  - Plus, if some idiot’s going to be altruistic enough to feed him for free, he’s going to take advantage of that It becomes popular enough that Harry institutes a pay-what-you-can-if-you-can policy (looking at you, Malfoy) Turns into a whole thing, where people help each other out academically and they all do homework together, a support group during midterms and finals and when someone’s having a rough day, they have games nights and go on outings together, and there are groups within the group. If people need a place to stay, they can apply to have one of the rooms in Harry’s fuck-off house for free (as long as they help keep it clean) Harry basically becomes low-key financial aid for his peers, and they think he’s the coolest, and he has no idea.

Since I'm seeing the Harry Potter asks on here again. Anyone else just not a fan of books and people who are super anal about putting everyone in boxes? Harry Potter houses. Hunger games type factions. The Briggs myers pseudo test. Zodiac signs. Blood types, whatever else. I even remember a friend telling me that her job asked her for her Myers briggs results to see if she was a good fit. Not gonna call it lazy in writing, but most people are so lazy they don't do anything with the idea beyond let's choose a box by arbitrary traits.

I saw your post about Harry, Ron, and Hermoine not telling many people about the horcruxes.

This brought me to an interesting question: how much do you think they told Neville? Neville's not exactly the general public. He killed Nagini, he was running the DA and the Hogwarts resistsnce during 7th year, and he is closer to Harry than most other students.

I also know you, like me, are a fan of the DADA Professor Harry headcanon, and I like to think those two got very close while they were both professors. I think that even if they didn't tell him everything, they certainly told him more than everyone else. I'm just not really sure where that would start and end.

I think Neville and the Weasleys know more than the general public. Like, I'd like to think they told Bill more about why they broke into Gringotts after the war. I think he'd like a word.

And Charlie is definitely gonna ask about the dragon...

I think the fact they hunted down Horcruxes would be more well known. Not exactly public knowledge at first, but, like, the Weasleys would know, Neville would know, a good chunk of the DA would probably hear about the Horcruxes too. Like, I can see them just sitting down together for butterbeers or something after the war, all the remaining DA. And Seamus would be like: "Why did you break into Gringotts?"

And Dean would go: "Yeah, what were you guys doing?"

And the rest of the DA would turn to the trio curiously and Harry Ron and Hermione would look at each other and Harry would sign and explain they were hunting down Horcruxes.

The DA: ???

Hermione then explains the broodstocks of what a horcrux is and the DA is super impressed and they leave it at that. I don't think Harry tells them, or, anyone really about him being a Horcrux until much later. I don't think they really told anyone Harry died. Like, I imagine that's a little insane to think about, even for wizards. and with the scare of Voldemort's immortality... I think Harry would just laugh it off and say he played dead for a bit (technically not a lie).

And that would be the truth that starts coming out in the years after the war through interviews with DA members like Zacharias Smith and others. They'd tell what they know about the Horcruxes and the fact Harry and Co destroyed them (not that they'd know much. Like, they wouldn't really know how or what or when. They'd just know breaking into Gringottswas was part of it), but Harry being one and dying would not be part of it. Some Death Eater in Azkaban (let's say it was Rowel) was questioned by Rita Skeeter with a special visit permit and he kept insisting Potter was hit with the Killing Curse again, that he really died and wasn't playing dead. But, this still stays in the realm of unconfirmed rumor that's disputed by the public even 20 years post-war for the most part.

I mentioned in the past that I think Harry would struggle post-war. Trauma, so much death, the loss of a piece of his soul, finally getting to choose for himself and live in a way he never could. Finally, there's no more sword over his head, and while that's freeing, that would also be terrifying. And he has a baby to take care of (but Andromeda would help. I'm sure if he asked her, she'd advise him to go back to 8th year).

But, I really agree about Harry and Neville becoming closer friends while they're both teaching at Hogwarts (more about my Professor Harry agenda here). Neville would be the Herbology Professor & head of Gryffindor and Harry would be DADA Professor and Deputy Headmaster for McGonagall (at least I like the idea).

And, I can see, like, a year or so after the war, Harry and Neville sit together, maybe a little tipsy after a Christmas celebration at the mostly rebuilt Hogwarts, and Neville would bring it up. He'd be like: "You did give yourself up after you promised you won't. I mean, I kinda knew you would, but I didn't... I... Why?"

And then Harry would break down. It would be the first time he talked about any of it since the week of the war (because Harry tends to bottle shit up). And he'd explain he was a Horcrux, and Dumbledore planned for him to die, that it was the only way. And Neville would be a little awkward, and pat Harry on the shoulder in an attempt at comfort Harry would appreciate.

And then Neville would ask the million-dollar question: "Then how are you alive?"

And Harry would just laugh in response before saying: "I have guesses, but hell if I know,"

They fall silent for a bit before talking about the stupid prank Roper and Bletchley got Peeves to cooperate with last week and how it took Flitwick an hour to put everything back in order, but that it was good for the student's morale. They would become closer from talking about it, and I think it'll help Harry process everything, you know? I think it'd be good for him.

(Unrelated note, but Teddy probably makes an appearance as a baby at Hogwarts if Harry is the DADA professor. He's the teacher's helper and everyone coos at him. Though, I assume he'd be staying with Andromeda a lot too. I like to think Harry and Andromeda would grow closer post-war. Harry deserves more family, and Andromeda just lost all of hers)

I don't think Harry and Neville talk about it much, but I'd like to think Neville knows. I'd also like to think Luna knows. And if we're going with the epilogue (which I don't tend to do), Ginny would know too.

But, that's basically it when it comes to knowing Harry was a Horcrux and that he actually died. I don't think Harry would want to tell Arthur & Molly if I'm being honest. They'd be told about the Horcruxes in general, but not that Harry was one and literally died. At least, Harry wouldn't tell them. I don't think he'd want them to worry or be sad for him. Not after Fred died.

Like, can you imagine Harry saying he died and came back but Fred didn't? Right after Fred died? No way is he doing that to the Weasleys. To George. Ron and Ginny would be the only Weasleys that know and they'd be sworn to secrecy by Harry.

I do, in fact, have some thoughts on this! Thanks for asking, Anon. I find the fact that Lily's friends remain unnamed quite telling, actually. I headcanon that Lily was quite popular among her peers-- we have enough evidence to show that she was pretty, smart, talented, brave, kind, and did not seem shy in the snatches we see of her-- those people tend to do well socially. And, of course, we see her with a collection of girl friends during Snape's Worst Memory. But I suspect that coming into Hogwarts with a pre-established relationship to Snape rather stunted her ability to make super close connections in the way the Marauders did. We might even compare her to Ginny with Tom Riddle's diary in that way.

It is not at all uncommon for a kid thrust into a new environment to take the easy route and hang out with the person she already knew rather than to expend energy into making new friends. This could actually put her a step behind compared to those who arrived at Hogwarts without knowing anybody when it comes to making deeper friendships. Of course, with Lily and Snape in separate houses, both would naturally make new friends in their respective dormitories. But it seems her two social circles didn't mix. We know from Snape's memories in DH that Lily's other friends "can't understand why I even talk to you." So if Lily was budgeting time for Snape, that was at the expense of her time with her girl friends. Hagrid says he writes to the Potter's friends (pleural, so not just Remus) to ask for photographs to give to Harry, so it would seem that there were people who loved her enough to keep photos of her. But they were not so close that they felt a need to ever introduce themselves to Harry. So I headcanon Lily to have had a lot of friends, but few truly close *best* friends. I see a lot of names from canon taken and assigned to be Lily's close friends in fic. Anyone who knows my writing, knows that I am allll about giving life to random character names provided in canon. But I actually disagree with a lot of the ones people tend to pick. Not to disparage anyone else's headcanons; mostly these are just vibes and my stubborn refusal to expel my own previously established thoughts on these characters. So rather than tell you who I think Lily's friends were, here's who I am inclined to think they were not:

Alice Longbottom-- I highly doubt the Longbottoms were in the same year at school as Lily and James. I see them as at least a few years older. They were already well known and respected Aurors by the time they died, but if they went to school with Lily and James, that would have been just a few short years out of Hogwarts-- I just don't see that they would have had the time to establish that reputation. Especially for Alice as part of that time would have been while she was pregnant with Neville and likely on maternity leave. Lily and James were also very young when they had Harry, and I don't know that I care to think of this as the norm. So I don't love thinking that all their classmates were also popping out babies right out of Hogwarts.

Marlene McKinnon-- I headcanon the McKinnons to be older and Marlene to be more of a OotP mentor figure to Lily rather than a school friend. Yes, Lily was cut up over her death in the letter to Sirius. But Moody states "They got her whole family." The verbiage implies a sizable number of people were killed. So if she was the same age as Lily, are we really saying she already had a husband and multiple children? In which case, again, why is everyone having kids so young? Plus McKinnon would likely be a married name in that case. Or could we be talking parents and siblings? Bit old be to still be living at home.

Dorcas Meadows-- Honestly, this one is mostly vibes, but I imagine her to be older as well. It's just such an old-fashioned name, and if Voldemort killed her personally, i would presume she had spent ample time pissing him off enough to compel him to do so. I don't see Voldemort wasting his time with a twenty-year-old without a very good reason (such as a prophesy about his downfall).

Mary Macdonald-- Yes. I know, it's super odd for me to include Mary on this list, given that her friendship to Lily is one of the major plot points in Knowing Where to Look. I'll say I support Mary more than any of the above because we know for sure from canon that she was a Gryffindor at the time Lily was in school. This is why I chose her for KWTL. But my one reservation in her being a close friend to Lily is that Lily refers to her by her full name when talking to Snape. This isn't 100% to say they weren't friends, but it just seems to me that if they were super close, Lily wouldn't have had to clarify which Mary she was talking about when talking to Snape.

So in conclusion, I tend to just let her friends stay unnamed as they just never proved relevant to Harry's story. I'm not one to try to force every person from the Marauders era into the Order of the Phoenix or into the war with Voldemort. My inclination is to say that Lily likely had many friends in school, but very few with whom she was close enough to keep up with after leaving Hogwarts. This is not an uncommon story. Dunno about you, but I, for one, didn't maintain a great many friends from childhood after going off to uni.

Let’s talk about backlash and response in the Red, White & Royal Blue literary and cinematic universe.

The book:

Casey changed two things in the book when there was backlash, and honestly the fact that they were so quick to respond to these and not anything else is kinda super upsetting.

The first was the Harry Potter books that Alex (and Henry too?) read, and like obviously JKR is a fucking bad person, but… The books exist! Millions of people read the books! Mentioning them by name isn’t gonna make you a bad person, having fictional people read these books doesn’t make them bad, it means they read books that existed. Trust me, I’m in the hating JKR trenches with everyone, she’s an antisemitic TERF, but of all the things in the world to be mad at, fictional characters reading a book isn’t it. Like, I have Harry Potter books on my shelf, am I supposed to burn them all and go back through my old instagram from middle school to delete all references to Hogwarts houses? No. Because multiple things can be true at once: JKR is a terrible person, and Harry Potter books at one point were highly read and enjoyed. Like, mentioning or not mentioning a book from over 20 years ago won’t impact JKR, if you want to stand up against her, stand up against her new video game and TV show— things that will directly put money in her pocket, stand up against Cursed Child if you want, donate to valued organizations that promote the things she hates. Anyway, It was changed to the Percy Jackson series instead, which is fine, but I think changing the books was an interesting choice. Like, obviously Casey doesn’t agree with the transphobic and disgusting views of JKR, neither do the characters. (CMQ probably does agree with some of the antisemitism, but that’s another story). Regardless of my own views on this change, people were upset by it and it was changed. Casey listened and made the fix. Editing to add: I’m totally cool with the change! Like I complete understand why it was done and if I were Casey I would have done the same thing. I, very badly, wanted to show how you can separate the author from the art, but I think there are some things that maybe can be judged by the author. I hope anyone I offended by misspeaking sees this and understands that I didn’t mean to reduce your pain. You are valid and correct in wanting the book removed from the book, especially when it was an easy fix. My point was solely that Casey listened and changed things, I shouldn’t have said anything else that undermined that or caused hurt, even indirectly. Again, sorry if my misspeaking hurt you, it was never my intention

The second time the book was edited, was after some people got weird about a reference to a UN ambassador: (copied from a Slate article because this isn’t in my copy) in which a supporting character who is the president of the United States complains, “Well, my UN ambassador fucked up his one job and said something idiotic about Israel, and now I have to call Netanyahu and personally apologize.”.

This is literally so nothing it’s insane. People claimed it justified the Israel/Palestine conflict and said that America would always back Israel, which like, I’m not going to explain the conflict because it’s bigger, older, and more complex than Tumblr, but no. No. No. No. Just no. This has nothing to do with that, Israel and America are Allies, and it’s no different than someone saying something about Canada. Also, nobody likes Netanyahu except Netanyahu, so this line is actually more of a funny satirical line about how the president has to go talk to this guy who’s an ally but super annoying. This is not an invite to send me anything about the I/P conflict, because I promise I know way more on this topic than you think and I’m not getting into it. Regardless, people said stuff, Casey listened, it was changed.

The movie:

After backlash about the actors ages, Casey posted a very attitude filled and almost-guilt trippy post saying that it’s rude and wrong to say that people who are 28 or 30 are old, because that’s calling Casey old, that’s saying that people who are older can’t discover their sexualities.

None of that was what people were saying, but they wanted to save themself, so they responded.

Backlash about the actors sexualities- Casey responded.

Preemptive response to people talking about Nick’s hair color- There was a response from multiple people

Response to people talking about Taylor being Mexican-American. This one was more of a “Hey! We did it!” Positive response by multiple people from the production, mainly the director who said that they purposely sought out the correct actor for Alex so people wouldn’t say anything bad and would be happy about it.

I’m sure there’s more, but I haven’t been in the know for a longggggg time.

All that to say, there’s been a ton of backlash about how Nora’s ethnicity was erased and how antisemitic their casting decision was, and the only thing they’ve done is block and remain silent. Not to forget that the production and CMQ know about the antisemitism within the RWRB fandom and they don’t give a shit.

Funny how things can be addressed when it’s literally about anything besides their Jew-erasure.
