Read an antiSnape post explaining why Severus is a horrible person, and I can accept all that, though I didn't read the whole thing. When I went to the tags, the very fist one was "snivellus" and everything they had written before went out the window.

Because that shows immaturity. Adopting the petty nickname a bully gave to their victim makes you a bully.

Your "facts" are now invalid because you refuse to let go of your bias for the "so-called heroes"

Seems like Tumblr wants war so..

But at some point b/w me getting my tumblr account and 8:47 PM 13 April 2024, Tumblr has followed the #severus snape tag for me.

I don't think I've once said 'Severus' (this doesn't count die). It's Snape, always has been and always will be.

And that signifies hatred.

The characters I hate most are Dumbledore, Snape, Umbridge, Malfoy

Surname are the epitome of 'please stop existing' for me, and by existing I mean ever having been mentioned at all.

(surnames also signify that I never cared about them at all but regardless the surnames are uneeded in any part of care or sight for me)

I don't know how or why it happened [I will wage war tumblr but be honest in that you want it plz] but I'd rather it not happened again. And until then, I'll WAGE WAR

Remember the movies, in the resurrection stone scene, where harry sees the marauders and lily? The scene ended with lily saying Always. But if you read the books that never happened. Lily never said Always. It was the movies' way to symbolise the connection between Snape and lily but in reality it never existed. I just can't.......

Regulas black deserves so much more love then snape gets he not only got hold of one of Voldemort's horcruxes and tried to destroy it even if it was unsuccessful he did it for the right reasons unlike snape who was only on the good side because he wanted to avenge lilys death and save harry because that's what lily died for regulas black changed for the right reason and should get the recognition he deserves for it

it’s funny how y’all forgive snape for everything that he did bc he saved harry and was ‘in love’ with lily, but when james saved him in the whomping willow, y’all say he only did it bc of remus and say that he was a bully, even though it’s basically the same thing that happened with snape but he didn’t grow up and still bullied his students.

tough pill to swallow but I really don’t think people would be nearly so sympathetic to Snape if it wasn’t for the fact that he’s played by Alan Rickman in the movies.

there aren’t that many hints in the books that Snape is actually “a good guy.” he spends the entire series as a minor antagonist. Harry is suspicious of him at literally every turn, and Snape treats him like total shit based on stuff Harry’s dad did. Harry didn’t even know his dad, and Snape still wants to blame him for the sins of his father?? Snape is a grown-ass man holding a literal child accountable for something he wasn’t even alive for!

Alan Rickman brought a lot of humanity and humor to that character - I personally think there was too much. the movies really, really downplay how absolutely horrible Snape is to his students, especially Harry, Neville, and Hermione. he plays favorites. he’s a blood supremacist. he bullies children. despite wanting to “protect” Harry, he’s constantly trying to see him expelled. he literally stepped over James’ corpse and ignored a screaming Harry in his cot in order to hug the body of a girl who rejected him in high school.

he’s just the worst, and I don’t think Alan Rickman played that part. I don’t think the movies did enough to highlight how truly cruel and antagonistic Snape was. Alan Rickman made him seem like a silly, almost-flamboyant caricature, not like the truly unpleasant, petty bully that he actually was.

I don’t see the movies as particularly accurate when it comes to his portrayal. I think that’s why I find it so very hard to sympathize with anyone who likes him or tries to explain away his abusive behavior. I didn’t really enjoy the movies, and I don’t think they do enough to explore characterization on their own. if you count up all the truly awful, mean things Snape does in the book, his “redemption” just falls completely flat. his motivations were completely corrupt, and even if they weren’t, that doesn’t excuse his behavior as a teacher, an adult, or an authority figure.

ppl be like "how can you claim to be a Slytherin positivity blog and then hate on Snape and defend the Marauders???" as if canonically everyone wasn't against Slytherin? even Harry didn't like them? and sure, I get the point - the marauders were some shitty shitty kids, but like??? Snape was so much worse???? who would like to be associated with him???? like the marauders were good people with a mean streak for those who've wrongd them and snape was an abusive asshole?? and no amount of tragic past/present can erase that? they're not perfect and what they did was suuuper problematic but they're still better than snape

nobody liked Slytherin (and that seemed very unlikely reading the books, to have one house be separated so vividly, but that's another rant) so you can't fault them for not being all buddy buddy with the snakes, no-one outside Slytherin was?? like what's your point

there was an addition on the original post, something along the lines of 'this post is for people who think themselves Slytherin but also think they would be best friends with the marauders' and honestly, the amount of petty, jfc! leave people's fantasies and self-inserts alone! let people dream of being both ambitious and friends with their favourite characters! cuz unlike romanticising snape, these fantasies aren't hurting anyone
