the very troubling thing about all this antisemitism is seeing how easily people justify it and downplay it. our very valid concerns based on things that are actually happening all around the US and the world are dismissed as evil zionists trying to distract people and control the narrative. and if people who are not affected by it whatsoever even bother to acknowledge it, they will regard it as collateral, like it's just a minute and inevitable glitch in an otherwise completely noble cause and the sentiment of "other people have it worse/are suffering more so be quiet". they settle the cognitive dissonance of claiming to care about oppressed people and minorities yet also perpetrating the oppression of a group who has been targeted and scapegoated throughout history by simply labeling the whole group as evil, as white colonizers, as the enemy and by trying to take our history away from us. the handful of times i've seen people acknowledge the antisemitism, it was always conditional- the sentiment of "don't be antisemitic BECAUSE not all jews are zionists and those Good™ jews deserve respect and to be treated as humans" or "the jews don't deserve to have their own country that's been theirs for thousands of years where they can be safe from all that's happened to them in literally every other country BUT don't say the k slur zio is ok though" and man it's so fucking tiring.
like i want to hear the perspectives of people on the other side. i think the only true way to get past the animosity is to listen to each other and have compassion towards one another. i have compassion for everyone who is suffering and i don't want anyone to have to be hurt or unsafe or in pain or to die. that's my take.

One of my best friends got married at the weekend and his closing words of his speech were “Free Palestine”, and I’ve been thinking about that a lot. Even on his wedding day, one of the happiest days of his life, a day that should be all about him and his bride, that isn’t the only thing on his mind. It can’t be. We’re all thinking about Palestine and the genocide of its people all the time.
All day I’m checking in on the journalists I follow in Gaza, my stomach in a knot until I see they’ve posted again today and they’re at least still alive, but then my heart broken to see what cruel injustice they’re showing us today. All of us with any scrap of humanity are behind Palestine, and passionately, even if the people meant to represent us are reticent or even adamantly refusing to actually represent our wishes. My friends and I are Irish, so we’ve grown up surrounded by pro-Palestine support: it’s huge here and always has been and our government is one of the ~better~ ones in this regard, but this isn’t unique to countries who are politically pro-Palestine. World-wide, I see rallies, protests, demonstrations, from huge crowds of regular people, even in countries whose policies and governments are deeply on the wrong side of history. Those regular people are what I think we should pay attention to.
Don’t lose heart. Don’t give up on Palestinians. Keep following them, keep listening to them, keep supporting them. Keep up the rallies, keep fighting, keep talking. It can be discouraging to see so few governments doing anything about this and news stories misrepresenting the facts, but don’t fall into thinking that nobody cares or give up. I believe people care. Regular people care. It may not be everyone, and it may not be the majority of the people in power, but I believe there are enough of us to help; we can pressure the people in power to listen if we’re loud enough and determined enough, and every single person saved from these atrocities would be worth the world. This is a dire situation. This is urgent. But it’s not over.
There is evil being done in the world but there is decency in humanity and hope is not lost. From the river to the sea, Palestine MUST be free.

Some explanations for some of these
for the Jews who don't know, it's a thing (at least among some Jews) that you can have a second bar/bat mitzvah at 83 because 70 was what used to be considered a full lifetime
tasteful commercialization of Hanukkah means both not as excessive as Christmas (though we still deserve more than a blue end cap) and actually well done not this shit with blue-lighted wreaths and gingerbread Hanukkah houses and Hanukkah sweaters with English messages written using Hebrew letters as English letters which spell gibberish in Hebrew
Headcanoning characters played by Jewish actors as Jewish unless another religion's stated for them means that e.g. Quinn Fabray from Glee is still canonically Christian despite Dianna Agron being Jewish and Amy Farrah Fowler from BBT clearly had somewhat-Christian parents despite Mayim Bialik's heritage but you could be free to headcanon (unless they're mentioned as another religion in canon) as Jewish characters like Jack Hodgins from Bones or Flynn Carsen from The Librarians or DCEU!Billy Batson
in I think it was 2018 NBC made a really bad sitcom called Living Biblically that was supposedly based on The Year Of Living Biblically but all it shared other than the titular Bible quest was the main character being some sort of entertainment-y writer with a pregnant wife, I can see changing the names but they changed the motivation for the quest, removed the toddler he already had in the book and most gallingly made him freaking Christian when many instances from the book reliant on the guy's Judaism could have made good sitcom episodes

Use the entire word. Zionist.
“Zio” is a slur which was created by David Duke, the grand high wizard of the KKK. It is explicitly antisemitic in nature and a lot of well meaning people on the left have been using it without realising it is a slur.
Just use the word zionist, don’t tweak with it and start feeding into terms created by the far right
Do not let your advocacy turn into antisemitism
It doesn’t help Palestinians in any way and alienates anti zionist Jews

I won't name names, but I want my Jewish friends and followers to know y'all can follow me and interact with me safely. Ever since the October 7th attack on Israel, I've been seeing a LOT of antisemitism lately (and it's so much more than what I normally see), mostly under the guise of anti-Zionism. But if you're Jewish and/or Israeli, you are free to follow me. You can send me anons if you want. You are also free to reblog my posts and comment on them. And send me DMs (provided I'm already following you, ofc). I will NOT harass you, send you anon hate or death threats etc, just for being Jewish/Israeli. Nor will I encourage my followers to do the same. Hell, I won't do anything like that, even if you are neither because it's a really shitty thing to do, anyway.
If you're antisemitic and/or anti-Zionist, however, I'd rather you leave my Jewish friends/followers and I the hell alone. I'm not Jewish or Israeli myself, but antisemitism is wrong and I will not hesitate to block, unfollow and report people if I see them posting antisemitic content. Criticise Israel all you want where they're wrong. No one is perfect or above criticism. But Israel does have a right to exist and defend itself, as do the Jewish people. As does everyone else. And antisemitism will NOT be tolerated, as far as I'm concerned.

Since I’ve been seeing antisemitism coming from both zionists (mainly Christian Zionists) and anti-zionists, I’m gonna say this:
I still condemn antisemitism, it will always go against what I stand for. Being against persecution of Palestinians and against antisemitism are not mutually exclusive. I want the Hamas hostages released just as much as I want the Palestinian hostages held by Israel released, I will not stand with those that say “all Jews are like this”, I will not stand with the Evangelical Zionists who want to have all Jews deported to Israel because they want Jesus to come back and kill all Jews, I will not stand with those harassing Jews for casually celebrating Hanukkah, I will not stand by those who perpetuate the Jewish space lazer bullshit, etc. Antisemites, DO NOT FUCKING INTERACT!

Guys please.
This is not to make ANY political statement!
Antisemites DNI!
I’m seeing this tear the Jewish community apart.
I’m sad and scared.
I need a reminder that we are in this together.
If you are a Zionist, please, give me some support or love.
I need something after the constant antisemitism I face on here and in person.
I need to remember that the internet has a way of amplifying the bad.
I need to remember even if they want us dead, we will stick together.
Jews and allies, please, some support, I’m so lost and scared and sad and mad.

People are really out here defending Candace Owens for criticizing Israel and it is insane to me. No, criticizing Israel - particularly in this moment where Palestinians are being killed in the most brutal of ways, is not wrong. But that's not why this lady is criticizing Israel.
However, this is the same woman who said Hitler was only bad because he wanted to expand beyond Germany and who openly supported a president who campaigned on fighting "radical Islamic terror" just a few years ago. This lady is not concerned about preserving international peace or defending Palestinians or Muslims, and neither are the other conservatives who are criticizing Israel, like Tucker Carlson - who also has a history of making bigoted comments regarding Muslims and Islam.
These people are only criticizing Israel now because they recognize that there is a growing schism within American politics because of America's relationship with Israel, which has split the conservative side into two groups - conservatives who support Israel because of concerns around American national defense, religion and 'supporting Jewish people' and conservatives who don't support Israel because they associate the existence of Israel with the existence of Jewish people in general...and they really don't like Jewish people.
People like Candace Owens, and other far-right conservatives personalities speak more to that second group.
It's also a growing part of the conservative view on foreign policy to criticize any foreign aid, even despite the reasons why that foreign aid is being given, as seen with American foreign aid to Ukraine.
#holding Israel accountable for what is being done to Palestinians is genuine endeavor#especially when America is helping Israel to kill people#but there are bad faith political actors who are exploiting criticism of Israel in order to pander to their audiences#someone who is reporting daily on Palestinians getting killed by Israeli forces#is way different from someone like Candace Owens#like this lady literally asked “Why are the Jews so special?” regarding Israel's actions#when a lot of Jewish people have busted their ass to make it clear that they do not support what Israel is doing to Palestinians#THIS BLOG IS NOT PRO ANTISEMITISM#antisemites dni#palestine#political discourse#candace owens#I typically try to ignore her#but I had to say something because this irks me so much

You know what I've noticed? People seem really defensive about buying/playing Hogwarts legacy.
Like, they'll plan on buying the game, and any time someone says something to them about it, they'll get offended and start becoming hostile.
For example: A friend of mine(/nbh) mentioned they didn't want people to interact with them if the person bought the game. The guy claimed they were supportive of trans and Jewish people, but when this friend of mine said they weren't comfortable interacting with people who were buying the game regardless, they immediately started saying that my friend was bullying and targeting them.
Honestly, it seems to me that they're trying to convince themselves of it, more than anything else. Considering all that was said was not to interact, which shouldn't affect them at all other than just... not talking to them? What a disproportionate and knee-jerk reaction to give to something as simple as a DNI mention.

A local college is getting in an uproar about a screening and discussion of this film that was planned today, and state legislators are even jumping onboard to condemn the event. It ultimately was not allowed to be shown. If you don’t mind, reblog and let people know: you can watch this film for free online! No cost! Check it out! Tell your friends! Educational censorship sucks 👎

It reads:
"Israel wants you to believe that you cannot do anything about what's happening. Israel wants you to believe that you are useless. As a Palestinian who grew up in Palestine and is witnessing genocide being committed against my people, as an independent journalist I want to tell you that you have so much power. You can stop this GENOCIDE. Your posts matter, your stories on social media matter, your boycott matters. All of these things can make a difference. For every free human in this world, we need you more than ever now! Keep talking, keep posting, keep protesting, keep challenging western media lies. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!!"

Need some help with a thing for one of my TV WIPs (though it feels weird to call non-fanfic actual scripts I want to pitch WIPs)
The aforementioned WIP is this sitcom I'm working-titling Who Knows One? that essentially has the vibe of the closest you could get to a Jewish equivalent of Black-ish (I would have called it Jew-ish if they hadn't made Black-ish spinoffs using ish as the franchise signifier). Why I had the idea of the dad being a musician is I wanted them to have a job that'd lead to them indirectly crossing paths with many social issues/explaining many cultural signifiers the same way Dre being an ad man on Black-ish does and everything more overtly social-issue-y felt like it'd derail either plot or tone from this being a family sitcom and education felt like too much of a stereotypical job for a Jew. Then an idea of my mom's for another aspect made me double down on the musician idea; I was unsure of the right setting and she suggested the Detroit metro area and Detroit has both quite the diverse cultural makeup and quite the music scene
As for my band question part of why I initially thought a non-A-list-musician parent could work in a family sitcom without derailing the focus of the plot is because the sadly-short-lived Wonder Years reboot managed to pull it off with Dule Hill's character Bill Williams. However, sometimes (though maybe that's a factor of how many episodes they got) it was very easy to kinda forget the guy had a band which is why I added that point of wanting band members to not feel like glorified extras. However, I'm afraid giving them proper amounts of depth/focus would just mean there's too many damn characters as there's already five people in the family (dad, mom and three kids though unlike a lot of family shows I'm going girl-guy-girl oldest to youngest instead of the usual big-brother-little-brother-middle-sister arrangement you see on everything from The Middle to Wizards Of Waverly Place) and enough people are involved in the behind-the-scenes of a music career that they could be the same kind of "work ensemble" for this TV dad that Dre's coworkers on Black-ish are for him if I kept the guy a solo artist

Hey, hello, hi, just your local neighbourhood unfriendly leftist Jew popping in to remind you when engaging in discussions pertaining to Israel’s genocide of the Palestinian people, DO NOT engage with holocaust denialism.
There is a very small number of white supremacists attempting to infiltrate the movement in order to pedal essentially nazi shit and some of them are very obvious but some of them are fucking clever.
If someone you are talking to (particularly online) starts speaking in cryptic dogwhistles or is commenting “have a totally joyous day” or “well well well” or “Hitler was part Jewish” under any video or post related to Judaism or Jewish people, you are not talking to someone who stands for Palestinian liberation. You are talking to a Nazi.
Stay vigilant

You can condemn the actions of Hamas while still remembering that Israel is a colonizer state that has treated the Palestinian population as subhuman for decades. You can condemn the actions of Hamas while remembering that Israel's apartheid against the Palestinian population is no less disgusting than the way white settlers treated native Americans, or the way white settlers treated the aboriginal peoples in Australia, or the way the Spanish treated the Aztecs and Mayans, and it is not antisemitic to say so. You can condemn the largest killing of Jewish people since the holocaust without pointedly refusing to acknowledge that, in this case, the Israeli government caused this to happen through their constant abuse of the Palestinian people.
If you have a problem with Israel because it's governed by Jewish people? That's fucked up and you should feel bad and examine your shitty biases. Also, consider fucking yourself with a large metal pipe. You've been a shitty person up til now; I invite you to learn more about the culture you've so readily demonized and leave your bigotry behind you. Maybe start making reparations in the form of donations to your local synagogue.
On the flip side, if you're hiding behind "oh, but our people have been victims of genocide before" or "this is the largest killing of our people since the holocaust" in an attempt to somehow imply that, because you were victims of a horrible tragedy, you are unable to be the aggressor? I have a beachfront house in Ohio to sell you. Having horrors visited upon you does not excuse turning around and inflicting horrors on another group of people. Those people were not targeted for being Jewish, they were targeted for being colonizers who forced Palestinians out of their homes and treated them like second class citizens; while I cannot condone the behavior of Hamas (which again, is specifically horrifying), I also cannot blame the Palestinians for turning to violence given that no other avenue exists for them.
You can condemn what Hamas is doing and condemn Israel's Colonialism at the same time. Palestine still deserves to be free regardless.
