What a time to be trans and alive in America. If you follow me, you are probably already horribly aware of the hundreds of pieces of anti-trans legislation that have been introduced in nearly every state, some seeking to ban trans healthcare for both minors and adults, some to ban drag, to ban trans people from restrooms, from sports teams, and in some of the most extreme cases take trans children away from parents who support their transitions. I highly recommend following The Trans Formations Project for their daily updates on the progress of these bills through the state government. They also have a very helpful tool on their website where you can search representatives by state and see exactly which legislators have introduced or voted on anti-trans bills, so you know exactly who to call and complain to about their terrible policies. The Trans Formations Project is active on insta, tumblr, twitter, discord, tiktok and FB. They are currently seeking volunteers and taking donations through their website. If you have the means, here are some other organizations you can support to combat these bills:
ACLU or especially the ACLU of Tennessee, which is ready to fight Tennessee's new anti-drag bill in court
The Trans Law Center especially their Trans Health Legal Fund, which provides resources for trans people facing investigation, arrest or prosecution for seeking healthcare
Trans Life Line, a crisis support line in English and Spanish
Trans Latina Coalition
The Marsha P Johnson Institute
TGI Justice Project
For the Gworls
Keep up your courage! Keep up your strength! We've also had some pieces of good news this week too- Minnesota has become a refuge state for trans folks seeking gender-affirming healthcare, Michigan just expanded their protections of LGTBQ citizens, and Wyoming rejected a trans healthcare ban. All is not lost, but if you see a bill moving through your state's legislation, please do make some noise about it!

These are the anti-trans bills that passed into legislation in the first quarter of 2024 by CATEGORY and STATE.
The most common targets of these bills concern schooling and censorship. Note that some bills can be in multiple categories and that these short descriptions are just introductions. Many bills are highly unique in the ways they remove our civil rights.
You can fight back by organizing and hassling your local representatives.

In case y'all haven't seen this yet, here is a powerful testimony from Loren Perkins, a trans person in Texas:
I don't know the pronouns nor gender for this person, so please use they/them and gender neutral terminology to be respectful 🩵🩷🤍🩷🩵

hey yall i have like. bad news
theres uh. well i looked at the map a month or so ago and let's just say it's changed since then.

a state being highlighted just means there's at least one law that's been introduced, not that it's passed, but um. this is still quite alarming as it's been an altogether quite organized and successful effort from what i can tell.
please speak up to your local legislators or whoever you're able to reach. find allies to connect with and decide on the most effective form of advocacy for your area. the fact that this is happening at all speaks to the power of organizing and acting in groups. don't forget that this power goes both ways.

In the past hour I've begun making my last resort plan on how to get out of Missouri if need be. I graduated high school last year, I haven't even talked to my folks about this; why am I being forced to seriously consider uprooting myself to avoid punishment for existing? What did I ever do to them

Holy shit. Texas DPS officers just roughed up peaceful protesters in the House Gallery as Republicans prepared to debate their anti-trans bill. (h/t @reportsbychar)
Land of what free? Unless in Texas it means free to be brutal with peaceful prostesters.

If you have a torrent client, download the torrent and set your seed rate to be at least 1.1, and 2.0 if you can. It’s 60 MB so it shouldn’t be that hard on your computer, and this is something that needs to be kept alive.

Alright, I uploaded this before but took it down because I was embarrassed and felt silly. But some people who saw it said it really helped them, so here we are... Hopefully these words offer more of you comfort and support 🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵💜
Sending all my love to my fellow queer/trans siblings. We are strong. We are resilient. We will persevere. We will survive. 🏳️‍🌈🩷🏳️‍⚧️

to all the people who would say I need a professional diagnosis to call myself autistic:
my greatest fear has always been that my autism will be used against me to take away my HRT, and guess what? its happening in my state (ohio).
here’s a link to Erin Reed’s article about it: https://open.substack.com/pub/erininthemorn/p/ohio-trans-ban-progresses-nonexistent?utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web
basically I feel affirmed in my decision to not get tested more than ever (to be fair i also cant afford it)

i’ll tell you one thing i’ve realized during this anti-queer panic and legislation in the US which is that i am so fucking tired of non-americans/USAians (mainly europeans, but also white or white-passing folks who move to europe), telling us to “just leave the country” like it’s that easy or that simple. i’m done with it! maybe it was funny at first (it wasnt), but the fact of the matter is that the vast majority of people--especially queer people--in this country don’t have the means to just move or even travel beyond the borders. expenses of moving to a new country aside, the US is fucking huge and being bordered by mostly water, you can’t just ta-da! take a $30 train into another country. plenty of people never even have left their state! so seeing as this legislation is affecting people on a state-by-state basis (because the US is basically fifty different small governments that can’t make up their mind about anything between each other), people will be forced to live by the rules where they live. there’s no packing up from tennessee and just waltzing on over to california or michigan. the states where this queerphobic legislation and violence is affecting people the most are the states where poor people live and can’t just leave. not to mention you’d be leaving behind a cultural part of yourself, especially when it comes to race & ethnicity in different parts of the country.
but, you ask, if you do have the means to leave, and put aside worries of cultural ties, why don’t you? i can’t speak for every american when i say this, but i love my country. i hate its violent history and its narrow politics, but that’s not what i speak of. i love this land, i love the people who live here. with all its flaws, the US is a beautiful place and most of my loved ones live here. hypothetically speaking, i wouldn’t just immigrate back to korea or italy and leave my family and friends behind. i wouldn’t abandon the queer people who couldn’t leave just to save myself. is that what you europeans think people should do? well ha ha very funny, but when i pledged allegiance to the american flag as a kid it wasn’t because i believed in everything it stood for, but everything i wanted it to stand for. and i will fight for that. if a trans genocide happens upon us, i will be here for that. we will all be here for that.
