I can't stand opposites attract dynamics. They make no sense to me. Why would opposites attract? Kindred spirits who have never seen themselves in anyone but each other and that's why they fall in love>>>>

It's kinda hilarious but mostly sad for me that from the moment I muted the JohnLock tag because I was tired of seeing so-called TLJCers "meta posts" from 8 years ago and was looking in vain for Sherlock fans who had other interests than a non canon ship, I just... Don't see Sherlock related posts anymore? Except for a couple of Adlock and Sherlolly posts, but I don't engage with these ships either so 🤷
I took my Sherlock x OC fic off AO3 because I ended up losing interest. Never did I take off a fic from AO3 after only three chapters! And it wasn't even because it wasn't read: I was actually surprised to see it bookmarked, receive several kudos and even a couple of lovely comments. The kudos were anonymous for most of them but so what. It was nice to see the attention anyways. So it's not a case of "woman bitter because her shitty fanfic wasn't successful". Considering I had only three chapters online, it was a promising start.
Yet, I lost interest because my passion for the show wasn't fed by exchanges with other fans. I mean, I had a few very nice discussions, -I don't want to tag anyone but the three of you I have discussed Sherlock with several times should easily recognize themselves 💜-, but before I muted the JL tag I spent more time scrolling down than anything else. I think it's a shame because there was so much to this show than a ship. With my story I wanted to explore Sherlock's past, uncover a potential trauma caused by something else than Victor Trevor's death, open a discussion about this, about his relationship with his brother, his sister and his parents.... And I KNOW that Sherlock's relationship with John, wether it's considered platonic or not, is very important. I just wish I could find something else to discuss than Sherlock's feelings for X or Y, or his sexuality.
Some could say it's pretty much the same thing for the Hannibal's fandom: there's no doubt that if I muted Hannigram I wouldn't find any Hannigram related posts. Or I'd probably find anti Hannigram posts, ew. The big difference to me is that Will and Hannibal's relationship is at the core of the show. The show is called "Hannibal" but it could just as well be called "Hannibal and Will": even if you don't ship them, take the relationship out of the equation and the show has nothing left to say, like... Literally.
Don't get me wrong, Sherlock without the pair Sherlock/John would probably be crap, but it would still have Sherlock's relationship with his family to cover. And boy there's much to say, imho. While Hannibal has no one else than Will. Will has no one else than Hannibal. That's the story. Also Hannigram is canon. So it makes sense to me that most of the fandom's posts are focused on Will and Hannibal. It hasn't stopped me from starting a pre-Hannigram fic because I'm very intrigued by the professor Lecter had an affair/student Alana Bloom storyline they hinted at in season 2, but I know I won't lost interest in this fandom anytime soon, because I feel fed by it. And this weird/toxic/and yet very romantic relationship between these two weirdos keeps fascinating me, even after four rewatchings! Besides, most Hannibal fans are unhinged which is I must say, a quality I appreciate very much 😁

Actually still seeing people say stuff like “maybe the adlockers & sherlollies were right about sherlock being hetero-“
BOY. When did we say that? Who the hell is saying that?? Cause from where this adlocker’s sitting, sherlock is the most bisexual character on the show. He’s queer as hell. Man’s straight as a slinky. As bi as a bicycle.
…….Oh but I forgot that doesn’t actually count, because the only queer identities that are queer enough to count in their minds are gay men they can ship with other men without female interference. Right. My bad. Silly me thinking women had any place in the equation.

I’m so sad to say, in an effort to keep AI away I’ve officially made my fics on AO3 visible to registered users only. 😩 I currently have 3 invite codes that allow someone to make an account and I’d like to share them with readers of mine who don’t want to lose access to my fics. If you’re interested, send me a message or let me know on this post and I’ll message you.

So, there is this hardcore Johnlock shipper whose comments can be found under almost every Sherlolly video on Youtube, it's super annoying. Today I found them on Pinterest too, like do they even have a life? How can they waste so much time on something they hate is beyond me. It's a miracle they're not on AO3.
I swear, if I get a euro everytime I see a johnlock/klaroline shipper's comment under a Sherlolly/Klamille fanvid I'd be richer than Bezos.

⚡️ 👾 🧨 <3
⚡️: have you ever blocked a mutual for something? if so, what for? I don't think so? Definitely unfollowed people ofc but honestly I don't really block people, I just don't feel the need to most of the time (obviously if someone started posting like terfy shit or something I would but thankfully that hasn't happened). I have unfollowed mutuals who've made DNI posts that I apply to so I just quietly unfollow, don't want to cause a fuss
👾 : what’s the funniest/stupidest discourse you’ve ever been a part of? I avoid discourse like the plague honestly, maybe me being a big Steve/Eddie/Steddie fan bc that doesn't seem to be a very popular opinion among most bylers (sometimes for valid reasons, sometimes I think y'all just hate popular ships) so maybe defending them but I'm not gonna go into anyone's asks about it. I'm sure back in like 2017 I did some stupid shit that I don't remember lmao. WAIT OH MY GOD OK I JUST REMEMBERED I JOINED TUMBLR RIGHT AROUND WHEN S4 OF SHERLOCK WAS AIRING AND I REMEMBER DEFENDING THE SHERLOLLY I LOVE YOU SCENE WITH MY LIFE LIKE GIRL PLEASE YOU ARE 13 AND LACK ANY MEDIA LITERACY BC YOU HAVE A CRUSH ON BENNY C STOP
🧨 : is there a specific fandom that you’d say you have bad experiences with?
and if I said Swifties bc sometimes y'all can be so gatekeepy to new fans it's painful and also frankly some of the anti-****** stuff on here is just straight up homophobia ANYWAY MOSTLY LOVE IT THOUGH OF COURSE

C, J, U, V and X :))
C -  A ship you have never liked and probably never will.
Ohhhh, boy. I could go three ways on this really...or maybe two, idk. I feel like my answer will be taken as problematic - - and I’m going for it anyway, because it’s just my opinion.
The ship I dislike the most is Sherlolly. It’s not because I don’t like Molly - I do, a lot. It’s not because that would make Sherlock straight or bi - the whole argument that used to fly about that Sherlolly = homophobic is fucking gross. It’s just not a ship that does anything for me. I used to think that I just found it boring (and this is NOT me saying that Molly is boring, or het romance is boring, or any of that), but I’ve come to realise it’s mostly because it vibes with the part of Sherlock’s narrative I like the least. The whole, ‘Sherlock was weird and abnormal with no friends, but now we’re going to turn him into a complete human being’, thing. Which, VOMIT.
Again, I’m not saying that het romance is too ‘normal’ to fit here. Sherlock could have a massive thing with Irene, and that would have a vibe I like far more. The issue I have with Sherlolly is that Sherlock has always been an extreme type of character in whatever canon. Molly, in BBC canon, is this wonderful character Sherlock came to find a great friend in. The notion that he could ‘learn to be normal/complete’ seems to be the arc of the four seasons, complete with the whole ‘I love you’ scene in TFP, where they full dangled the possibility of future!canon!Sherlolly by at least making Sherlock think about it seriously. It seems to equate with ‘the more we teach Sherlock to fit into ‘normal’ society, the more chance he has of having a ‘normal’ relationship, with someone...’ - okay, I’m not going to hold Molly up as a bastion of normality, given she falls for sociopaths and does autopsies, but even if you take that into consideration, it’s still the most ‘normal’ relationship the writers could put him into. A casual viewer would go, ‘he’s got a girlfriend now, he behaves better, he gets on with his family, he’s straight/white/upper middle-class = totally a character I’m easy with’.
And that’s just not what interests me when it comes to relationships I want to watch. Now, if we’re talking about dark!Molly who’s into Glee and cats, but also runs a black market organ business and wants Sherlock to help sort out the competition - I’m totally here for that. If Molly likes her knitted cardigans and secretly wants to kill Sherlock, while he likes his suits and is madly in love her but also wants to use her to get to her criminal mother who harvests dead bodies and practices necromancy? I’m all ears.
But ‘Sherlock gets a girlfriend, solves crimes, learns manners and is never obnoxious again, and OH LOOK WE FIXED HIM’ - fuck, no.  ...that was a lot of words, and I didn’t explain it very clearly, but I’ma stop now.
J -    Name a fandom you didn’t think about until you saw it all over Tumblr. (You don’t have to care about it or follow it; it just has to be something that Tumblr made you aware of.)
Tumblr has made me aware of BTS, The Witcher (although I had seen adverts for that on Amazon, but idk anything about it), Hamilton, Moomin, MASH, The Mentalist, Kyo Dir en Grey, Elementary ...oh man, there must be more, but I forget. I’ve been here a few years now. I’d heard of most of these shows/people before Tumblr, of course, but didn’t know much about them. And still don’t on some of them, but am definitely aware of them now.
U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.
Jim Moriarty, obviously. HE IS SO FUN. And there is such pain under the smirk, and THOSE SUITS, BABY. I am the biggest sucker in the world for obsession, and ...well, see my answer to X in a minute. There’s nothing about him I don’t ove. So much scope to play with in fic as well.
An old fandom of mine - Les Mis. My fave character is Javert, because of course I love the most awful dick of them all. Again, with him, see X below. And also again, so much to write about. I literally nearly based a PhD proposal around him, and his representation, his place in 19th century France, his attitudes and where they came from. Did you know the character of Sam Gerard in The Fugitive is based on him? He’s relentless, he’s unforgiving, and he collapses at the end in the most spectacular way possible. Total prick, and I fucking love him. :D
I’m really trying to think of character I love who isn’t a total douche, just for the sake of variety. But I can’t, so lets go with Gene Hunt from Life on Mars.
I expect most people won’t have heard of/seen this show (but omg they might be making a new series, sa;ldfkjsalfksj I CANNOT :D), but if you can watch it, you should. Gene Hunt is awful - a 70s cop with all the faults of the time. Corrupt, mostly alcoholic, sexist, violent, homophobic, racist...but also hilarious, and there’s a really big heart under there. You learn that he might do nothing but call people the worst names in the world, but he always ends up doing his job in. If you watch this four minute video, you’ll get the gist. If you’re a fan of the Discworld series and you like Sam Vimes, you’ll recognise Gene. He’s the arshetype of Copper, and he goes on this great arc from being the stereotypical bad copper of the 70s, to being something quite different. And he really is hilarious, with insane charisma. He and Sam Tyler are the perfect double act. :D
V - Which character do you relate to most?
Jim Moriarty. I may not be a criminal mastermind, but only because I’m not that smart. And don’t have his level of swag, because c’mon. Who does?
X - A trope which you are almost certain to love in any fandom.
AHAHA. My bulletproof trope is ‘two sides of the same coin’. Sherlock/Moriarty. Javert/Jean Valjean - who, incidentally, were two characters based off one man; Vidocq. (A man who more films should be made about, incidentally.) These two are literally two sides of one man. Even Gene Hunt represents part of Sam’s psyche in Life on Mars, as well as the more obvious old vs new, forensic vs gut instinct.
But yeah, in literally any fandom, you show me a protagonist and an antagonist that are more or less the same person, and I’m there. Cannot get enough of it.

I stand by this. My experience in the Sherlolly fandom and my experience in the Sheith fandom ran shockingly parallel through all of Sherlock and the first seven seasons of Voltron.
Overshadowed by a more popular ship that had way too many people harassing anyone who dared disagree with them, including showrunners and cast? Check.
Canon interactions full of charged moments? Check.
An on-screen "I love you" with just enough situation around it to encourage the antis to try and disregard it? Check. Antis to this day finding little ways to sneer at or discredit those of us who stay in our lanes and keep shipping our ship? Check.
Sherlolly shippers and Sheith shippers chugging right along with creating all kinds of art and fic and having fun? Check.
Just goes to show that fandom is a lot more fun when you're playing with what you love, instead of wasting time on what you hate.
Current Voltron canon: Shiro and Keith haven’t seen each other in two seasons, they’re barely interacting, Shiro is acting super shady.
Current Sheith fandom: they’re married also bees

Anti-Culture
So, anti-culture.
Dude, this shit is so toxic. I would lie if I told you that I never followed/agreed with anti-tags/antis (though I never actively participated).
It took me a while to notice what utter bullshit this whole thing is.
I mean its perfectly fine to not like certain characters/ships/shows, and it's also completely fine to be controversial, to question certain things or simply to not like a ship/character. People have different tastes and different opinions, and that's cool.
But hating not only on characters but also on real people just for the sake of hating and generally being anti-everything?
That's just plain toxic, especially when people are cross-tagging anti-fanfics/anti-fanart, KNOWING that it will be seen by their targets (here: the fans who actually enjoy the character/ship/whatever) or making insta pages like "shit xy-fans say" or writing hateful comments and/or fucking death threats.
The biggest irony is that most of these people seem to be driven by some sort of twisted righteousness, where they feel like they sit on the Mount Everest of the moral high ground. Its hilarious, really. How they claim to be morally right a là "how can you like [insert character]/how can you ship [insert ship]??? They are awful and you are such a bad person for liking this, ewww, that's sooo disgusting" (I think you get the idea)
They throw around words like "toxic" and "unhealthy", sometimes in a condescending other times in a hateful tone, and don't even realise their own toxicity. Makes me a bit sad, tbh.
These people are literally looking for conflict and are actively trying to stir things up, and I cannot, for the life of me, comprehend why.
Actually, maybe I can. It feels to me like they are so bitter and so sad and angry that they have no idea what to do, other than to lash out, and upset people who actually enjoy things.
I totally get that people want to have a space where they can be with like-minded, whether it's about things they like or things they dislike. And sure, you can have your space where you can exchange opinions/feelings with people who feel the same way (in this case: disliking certain ships/characters/shows).
However that doesn't mean that you get to be mean, rude, disrespectful, condescending and downright hateful and toxic to real people (on a side note: to feel this much hate/dislike towards a fictional character/ship is also a bit questionable in my opinion, but whatever).
But that's the thing, right there. Surrounded by like-minded people gets boring, after a while. I mean everybody mostly agrees with your feelings and opinions.
But instead of discussing the different nuances of the slightly differing opinions within their group, or even with people who have a more neutral/ambiguous stance, antis lash out and invade the space of people who enjoy/love the things they dislike or even hate. It's like they cannot dislike in peace until they have either converted everyone to their side or pushed people out of their fandoms. It's the principle of "if I'm not happy with this, then nobody can" which is... problematic.
And it really, really needs to stop.
I guess, I just wanted to blurt out my feelings about this whole topic, so this might be a bit sloppy (considering its 3am when I'm writing this, it most certainly is). Anyways, to the three people who read this far, enjoy your day/night, don't let antis get to you and stay safe and healthy! :)

Sure you're allowed, nonny. But I vividly remember how the Johnlockers went after fans who shipped Sherlolly or just said they liked Mary. That shit was vicious, so you really can't blame people for getting a bit twitchy.
Hate whoever you want as long as you don't attack people who like the character and make sure your hatred is contained in the anti tags and doesn't spill over into the character or ship tags.
this isn’t really anti per se but “you can’t just hate a female character because she gets in the way of your slash ships!” jokes on you i love hating fictional people for any reason i choose. like….she’s not real my dude. she won’t have her feelings hurt i promise

I know you like Sherlolly, but what are your thoughts on Johnlock?
Hi anon! Thanks for the question. You asked for my opinion, so I’ll give it. As a disclaimer, this is the opinion of one fan. I’m not claiming to speak for anyone but myself.
To answer, I’m going to be discussing my thoughts on Johnlock as a ship and the Johnlock fandom.
As a ship, I don’t necessarily have an issue with it. When I watched the show, I felt like Johnlock was like an inside joke. It seemed to be poked fun at or hinted at in almost every episode. I didn’t think much of it as I watched. And in all honesty, I didn’t see any romantic chemistry between the two. I view Johnlock as a brotp (until season 4, but that’s a whole other story). They are soulmates in the fact that they were fated to meet and be in each others’ lives. I see them as best friends and nothing more.
As a fandom, there’s much that’s been said already, but here’s my perspective. When I fell in love with the show and took to Tumblr to find the Sherlock fandom, I blogged about Sherlolly and Molly Hooper. That dynamic and that character struck a chord with me and I still love it to this day. The reason why I bring this up is because of how those who ship Sherlolly were and still are treated by some Johnlock fans. I guess I was fortunate enough to not be harassed online by them, but others were not so fortunate. I cannot, for the life of me, understand why some waste their time bullying people online. It seems like such a waste of energy. When I read those nasty comments and saw the entitlement coming from those fans, any hope or thought of joining the Johnlock fandom was gone. That behavior really turned me off.
Even nowadays, there are still those in the Johnlock fandom that troll Sherlollians on social media, myself included. This is why I don’t take any interest in Johnlock. I’m the kind of person that enjoys engaging in conversation with those of dissenting opinions but trolling and bullying is not discourse.
I like Sherlolly and I’m pretty convinced that I always will. I hope this answered your question despite the rantings and ravings lol. Have a great day!

Sometimes I get started in a ship mainly because the shippers are nice. That was how I started in the Sherlolly ship. I had started out in the Sherlock fandom very enthusiastically, only to end up unfollowing most of the blogs because of their insistence that Johnlock MUST be canon. Then when Mary came on the show and they started going after her, I’d had enough. The Sherlollians are one of the nicest group of shippers I’ve ever come across. They took so much hate and insults from the TJLCers and promptly turned it into more shipping fodder!! They are a bright spot in an otherwise hellhole of a fandom. I smile everytime I see some Sherlolly content on my dash.

Just saw a Screen Rant “article” (more like op-ed and I’m not going to link because it doesn’t deserve the clicks) that claims Sherlock didn’t mean it during the ILY scene in TFP. Anyone who thinks Sherlock didn’t mean it when he said, “I love you” to Molly wasn’t listening properly.
