So.

First, wow that VLD had FOUR ships in the top 15 of @fandom the week after S6. I don't keep up to know if that ever happened for another franchise or not.

Second, I am SO glad that this was preserved. People not familiar with the series wanted to know if this was a canon scene. Sheih fans were giddy with both the jump to the top of the list and with being the featured art in the post. But Klantis lost their complete and utter shit over it and hammered the post and the account mods with the "brother" line until they took the GIF out and replaced it with something from another series. Now, it's possible that whoever put the post up assumed that it was a canon scene and maybe there's a rule that they would only use canon stuff - I can't remember if they did use fanart from time to time. But still, Klantis played the squeaky wheel and may have gotten the oil as a result.

But here is the original post, showing Sheith making a leap of 10 spaces in the list on the strength of S6, compared to KL continuing its spamming tactics to cling to the top spot. And I'm not kidding - KLs would waste hours making and reblogging posts that had no art, no fic, no commentary, no meta - just the ship name, over and over, to manipulate the metrics. And that's just one of the reasons the fanbase is remembered as one of the most toxic ever, compared to Sheith that still produces art and fic and passion out of love of the ship.

hi! i just wanted to share my appreciation for the Great Sheith Reblog— i joined the fandom after the series ended, so i’m seeing most of the fanworks and discussions you’re reblogging for the very first time. without you doing this, i highly doubt i’d be able to experience so much of that older content. thank you!!! ❤️

I am very glad to hear this, because you are part of the people I was hoping to reach. Back in 2022 I did a panel for the Virtual SheithCon on Discord, recounting the history of the ship, and I was a bit shocked at how much the people listening to it didn't know, simply because they'd started watching the series after 2018 and weren't there for the things that were happening while the show was airing. So I get to indulge in nostalgia and share with the wider world.

A Brazilian scholar made a thread on Twitter about a Japanese trope where an "older brother adopts an younger brother" but in a gay way.

And how the younger is hot headed and bold and rash. And the older is calm and protective and the only one who's the hot head is soft to.

I have been FEASTING on the black paladins content all week. Gods there's so much great edits, screenshots, gifs, metas, art, everything, and I love all of them! What a time it must've been to be a Sheith shipper in June 2018 ahaha (I'm a later comer, I got in the fandom like two years ago).

And as great as all the black paladin content is, I wanna thank you for the whole great sheith reblog project from the bottom of my heart <3 as I said, latecomer here, so it's great to see all the older things recirculating. Thank you <3

New fans like you are half the reason I started doing this reblog project, because there was SO MUCH great stuff being shared and the new fans don't have any easy ways to find it. I'm so glad you're having fun!

It was things like this, that were different in S3-4, that had me supporting the clone theory right away. How Kuron's hug was nowhere near as intimate and snuggly as Shiro's. How Kuron's smile when trying to pep-talk Keith seemed pained. Or that he smiled at all, instead of looking at Keith very seriously like when Shiro said Keith could find the Red Lion on his own, had what it took to lead the team.

Or when he said he'd never give up on Keith.

Fake Shiro: Pulls Keith up by his injured arm, subsequently puts like 3ft of space between them while Keith stands in obvious pain

Real Shiro: Helps Keith up without touching his injured arm, subsequently stays close and keeps supporting him

Thank you for doing the Great Sheith Reblog. It always makes me sad that the fandom is so dead on Tumblr, but seeing all your reblogs always reminds me how much I love them.

You are so welcome. One of the reasons I started doing this was because I wanted to get more Sheith out there with people reblogging, maybe getting inspired to play with the ship again. And the other reason is to share all the good stuff from before with the fans who have discovered VLD and Sheith since the series ended.

And it's lovely reliving the memories. I'm glad others are enjoying it.
