“You’re very welcome! I should get home, lots of things to attend to- I accidentally got Sekhmet engaged- for all this royal wedding business.” She laughed self-consciously. “Anyway, I hope you enjoy the dagger, and use it carefully! Happy birthday again, dear!”

Sekhmet giggled as She ran up to Pepper, holding something in a wrapped package. “Pepper!” She called. “Pepper! Pepper! Pepper! Pepper!” The Goddess was almost bouncing with excitement.

Hathor nodded, swallowing. “I get it,” She said. “Um, it was- it was nice to meet you.” She looked up and smiled just a little. Her heart wasn’t quite in it like before, though.

She turned even more red and looked at the ground. “Sekhmet won’t come out now. She said I can deal with all this since I got Her into this mess. I think She’s sulking.”

Hathor grimaced. “Er, well... He wanted to speak with Her on something, and I received Him of course, Sekhmet was resting. Apparently, the way I received Him was indicative of interest in a marriage? And You would think I would know this, only, it turns out I often receive people in that way, just as consequence of being the Goddess of Love. Anyway, He got very excited, and I didn’t have it in Me to tell Him I wasn’t Sekhmet, so... I accepted a marriage proposal from Him on Her behalf.” Her cheeks had turned bright red, and She was clearly very embarrassed by the whole ordeal.

“No, I do,” Hathor agreed, nodding and looking at the ground. “I, um, I know it’s likely not any true consolation, but I am sorry She did that, and if there’s anything I can do to atone for it, I will. Or, would, rather.”

“Yes, things have been quite good,” Hathor said. “Well, except for one thing. I... may have accidentally gotten Ptah quite interested in Sekhmet.” The look on Her face could only be described as apologetic and slightly miserable. “She’s not happy.”

Hathor shook Her head immediately. “No! No, of course not,” She assured Aliza. “And even then...” She sighed. “I don’t approve of what Sekhmet did. Not in the slightest, even if I couldn’t stop Her. But She did it in an attempt to get help in taking back Her place in the Pantheon from Our Father. He took a lot from Us, even if that did create Me. But She was desperate, and... Well, She’s not anymore!” The Goddess knew it was an incredibly weak explanation. “She won’t do anything like that again, either.”
