I enjoy putting on makeup every morning.
I keep a skincare routine.
But I don’t let them take over my life.
I shouldn’t have to put on sunscreen in the dead of winter on Sadness Island, when the sun rises so late and sets so early that I get dressed in the dark, then walk home in the dark, just in case a single ray of light touches my skin and makes me look a single day older.
I shouldn’t have to buy retinol serum or a second concealer or skin laser or a silk pillowcase in the hope that if I throw enough money away on the right crap, I will become an unaging supermodel.
And when I grow old enough to consent to plastic surgery, I shouldn’t have to get injections and tucks and fillers that, just two decades ago, were considered only for the over-fifties or the excessively vain.
I shouldn’t have to live in fear of being anything other than perfect.

I'm so excited to see what I'll look like as I get older!
I hope that I'll be able to eat bread and desserts without worrying about my figure, that when I exercise it'll be focused on mobility instead of how I look in a swimsuit.
I hope that I can go to the beach when I'm middle aged or elderly without feeling self conscious.
If I have children and gain weight I want to be happy that I had a baby, and not upset that my waist is gone.
I want to see my hair go white, to get laugh and smile lines, etc.
I hope that my money goes to books, pets, gardens, and vacations instead of the beauty industry that doesn't give a sh*t about me.
I'm so happy that my older relatives always cast "aging out of beauty" as such a freeing time of life. Nobody is staring anymore, there's no expectation that you put effort into being sexy. It's just you!

These are twins. Both of them got botox. the one who lived in La got it every 4 to 6 months for 19 years and she's the one labeled D or the woman who is on the right in the picture set above, while the other got it like 4 times total.
The one who has had a lot of Botox apparently also has a better skin texture and more refined pores. Her facial expression is also a lot creepier than her sisters' who looks very emotive and jubilant, almost.
Dr Dray is skeptical of the idea that Botox can, you know affect skin texture and quality and all that over the long term but she also seems to be promoting this in a way that doesn't seem professional to me because it's very creepy looking and she doesn't really touch on that for 2/3 of the video as far as I know. Looking creepy is not worth it just so you can look like you're in your thirties well into your forties.
And she herself says that regular neuromodulator use can cause you to "learn to not recruit those muscle groups". Which is just another way of saying that you will look absolutely terrifying and unemotive and you will creep people out and that is not worth it just so you don't develop crow's feet. Why do u feel this way as a woman..... why do you feel the need to stop natural processes. who the f*** are you doing this for? the approval of people who don't even respect you as a sex?! come on
youtube
Someone made a slideshow of short video clips showing how over time the Botox injections started to immobilize their face and they literally could not scrunch their eyebrows together and their forehead looked unnaturally smooth.
The only people who should consider doing this are men who always look angry because that's just not pleasant to look at, everyone else is fine.

"the preteens are running around sephora because all their third spaces are gone!" i get that but did you know. did you know that there is an age appropriate store for young girls selling (fake) makeup & accessories. are you reasonable enough to understand that 10-12 year old girls do not need to be running around an adult makeup store ruining displays, destroying products, & generally leaving the stores a mess? all while they harass employees & disrespect them. the real solution obviously is to make 3rd spaces accessible again but until then keep your CHILD out of sephora unless you are right there with them & able to fucking parent.

TERFS AND RADFEMS DO NOT INTERACT!!!
Tumblr media
an angry journal entry i just wrote after i heard an ad about an anti aging makeup product
Text ID:
“Feel younger, feel like you again”
I HATE THE MAKEUP AND PLASTIC SURGERY CULTURE IN THIS COUNTRY
it’s natural to age!! you look the way you do because of the experiences you have had and the natural progression of time. it’s not only natural to age, it’s a blessing to be changed. To be static is the worst curse in the universe. There is no one way anyone should look throughout their lives. There is a sacred divinity in every wrinkle and grey hair and scar because it is proof I am alive

i am watching a video about how the 'clean girl'/'natural beauty' 'trends' are still like classist because they are based in genetics and like. Procedures and Surgery and like sure but also.
idk it seems like people talk about it in a either/or way, where you either have to wear makeup to cover flaws or do skin care/dermatologist/surgery/etc to Fix flaws but also... you don't? have to do any of it. it literally doesn't matter... if you wash yr face and moisturize regularly & use sunscreen if you're going out you are giving you face the things it needs to be healthy (not 'perfect' or like. 'trendy' which why are we trying to be. who cares... look like you and be an individual...)
it's just stupid to me (which i admit i really don't care what other people think and i just accept my appearance as it is without need for enhancements, at least not skin cosmetics)... i know as a gnc lesbian i have less like. tie to feeling like i need to fit Feminine Gender Roles but it doesn't make sense that people can NOT just see themselves as people/animals/living beings with bodies for function rather than exclusively as like aesthetic objects
the video is specifically comparing the full glam insta baddie mid 2010s look to the clean girl type thing now and i haven't really worn makeup regularly since 2014 but still... like just because it became more affordable for women to get concealers and etc to cover their Disgusting Blemished Faces doesn't make that somehow better than people not clogging their pores and being encouraged to only use skin care products. societally and because of capitalism people popular media/culture will NEVER be fully accepting of peoples' natural bodies because how will they sell you anything? they need to toe the line between 'loving and accepting yourself as you are' and 'buuuut you need this product to REALLY love yourself/take care of your skin/make you look better/etc etc'. so just be yourself and do only what is necessary for HEALTH not for some nebulous 'beauty' that will absolutely change in like 5-10 years. esp people who think that getting cosmetic surgery or fillers will make them fit the standard.
you are going to be left behind when the standard changes. you are either going to look 'so 2023' in 10 years or you will have to get more surgery to fit the new standards. wouldn't you rather be able to laugh and smile and cry and enjoy the vastness of feeling, expression, etc instead of numbing your face and losing your ability to really express yourself?

Let’s face it: beauty products greatly contribute to the destruction of our environment. While we deeply concern ourselves with looking better, the environment suffers from our irresponsibility and self-centeredness.
Did it ever occur to you where those beauty products go after you use them?

Hi guys,
Recently I have been seeing so many people on Tik Tok review products from Maybelline which is a drugstore brand I used to adore! I haven't bought anything from them for quite awhile but when I kept seeing the same 3 products being reviewed by everyone I decided this pale girl needed to see what the all hype was about. So today we chatting about my mini Maybelline haul.Luckily when I went to Boots they have 3 for 2 on all Maybelline products so I actually got the conceal free which was even better.
I'm going to chat to you about each product in the order I used them so let's start with the Maybelline Instant Anti Age Perfector 4-In-1 Glow , £12.99. Now this product is a multi purpose product so not only does it add glow but it is also a primer, concealer and a highlighter. I picked up the shade 0.5 which is Fair Light Cool, basically the palest shade for me. Like their famous concealer it also has a cushion applicator you have twist and apply. When I used this I rubbed it in with my fingers because I wanted my skin hydrated before putting a powder foundation on. Straight away you could see my skin had a healthy sheen to it but it didn't make my skin look too glowy and oily which I thought would happen. First impressions I really like it but I'll keep testing it with other products too.
Next up we have the Maybelline SuperStay Active Wear Concealer , £9.99 (my freebie in the 3 for 2). Like the matching liquid foundation this concealer is designed to be full coverage and last up to 30 hrs. This matte concealer was not what I expected (in a good way) because the formula is so lightweight it doesn't feel like anything on your face. I got 05 Ivory to use this concealer as more of a highlight / brightener for my under eyes. I love the finish, the packaging and how well it's been lasting on my eyes, I need to pick up shade 10 for my blemishes next.
Lastly and arguably the most viral makeup product at the moment we have the Maybelline SuperStay 24H Hybrid Powder Foundation , £11.99 shade 03. I saw this product everywhere and knew I had to try it out myself. I got the palest shade to play it safe but I probably could of got shade 05 too if they had it. This powder foundation is unlike anything I have tried before, it is designed to be a medium - full coverage, long wear, soft matte foundation. Now what I find most unique about this powder foundation is that it has super resistant hybrid technology, so unlike other powder foundations it doesn't cake or transfer. The first time I used the powder I was so surprised at the coverage! With one swipe of product almost half my face was covered which I didn't expect especially from a drugstore powder foundation. Loving it so far and will be testing out more in the next few weeks, I also want to get 1 shade darker to see the difference.
If you want to check out the products I mentioned, they are all linked above!
Lots of love

Dear everyone who puts on “no-makeup makeup” looks, everyone who shaved their legs or arms or face or anywhere else even though they don’t really want to, everyone who spends hours doing their skin-care routine to get rid of acne and the like, everyone dieting and restricting themselves because they’re trying to lose weight, everyone trying to change themselves to look “better”: you are beautiful without doing those things. I know you’re probably insecure, you feel like you’re not enough, but you are. You beautiful with no makeup and hairy legs and pimples and body fat. You are worth so much and you are so much more than your body and even then your body is still beautiful. Those parts of you are beautiful. I can’t force you to not do these things but just know that you are important and valued and amazing and worth so much regardless of whether or not you do them.
[Note: I understand that people do these things for non-aesthetic reasons. I know acne can be painful and for some body hair feels uncomfortable. If you are one of these people you’re still amazing, but this post is simply not about you. Please don’t be annoying.]
