I think the reason why Naruto fans get so passionate and upset about the series is because of how real it can be. Naruto isn’t about paragon heroes outdoing dastardly villains. It’s about human beings fighting tooth and nail to survive in a world surrounded by death. It’s about broken systems made and perpetuated by broken people.

The Hyuga clan isn’t just antagonistic or pretentious, they practice slavery.

The Uchiha clan weren’t just killed by some raging psychopath, they were systematically massacred.

Itachi isn’t just cruel to Sasuke because he’s a bad brother, he’s cruel because he’d been told time and time again that you can only survive by being cruel and he wants nothing more than for Sasuke to survive.

Nagato isn’t trying to take over the world just for the sake of power, he’s trying to take over the world because it beat him down to the point of believing that the only chance at peace there is is the world being forced into compliance through fear.

Iruka isn’t hard on Naruto just because he’s a strict teacher, he’s hard on Naruto because he knows from experience how unforgiving the world is towards orphans.

Kakashi isn’t just some silly and slightly lazy teacher, he’s a contract killer still grieving his loved ones and struggling to do better without knowing how he’s supposed to.

Sakura isn’t just a fangirl, she’s a normal girl in a very dangerous and abnormal world constantly being made to choose between what she’s supposed to do and what she feels.

Sasuke isn’t just some edgelord, he’s a survivor who lost everything then gets repeatedly told that he has to choose between keeping what he’s gained and doing better than his brother.

Naruto isn’t just trying to be the best Hokage there ever was, he’s trying to prove his worth to a society that abandoned him just for existing and, in a way, confirm his worth to himself.

The Naruto story is about humans trying to force themselves into the role of weapons because that’s what they were told they had to be. It’s a story where everyone is a perpetrator but no one is trying to do wrong. It’s a story where everyone is a victim but no one is a perfect victim.

The world and the characters aren’t simple and trying to simplify them only takes away from them. So of course we get passionate about showing off all the reasons why they shouldn’t be simplified and all of the ways they’re complicated. Of course we get upset when we see others simplifying them or selling certain aspects of their characters short. Of course we get upset when the series itself simplifies them. Of course we get upset when the series chooses to abandon them. Because it not only feels like the characters are giving up, it feels like the series is betraying anyone who chose to get invested in its complexities.

istg i’ve never seen a valid reason used by someone explained why they hate sasuke.

90% of the time it’s basically them saying he didn’t react to trauma the way they wanted him to (or doing trauma olympics using naruto, gaara, kakashi, etc as examples of “thEIr TrAUmA DiDN’t TUrN thEm iNtO aSSHOLes”)

5% is again, using very valid trauma from a 7 year old witnessing the death of their entire clan by their brother and being forced to relive it for 3 days, as a way to say he’s “too edgy and emo”

and the other 5% is used by shippers (mainly SS), shaming him for not reciprocating feelings he never felt for the other character

well.... we know that boruto took care of nh by putting thousands of fillers where they are a happy family and naruto feels comfortable being there

boruto, like sarada, is responsible for letting you know that both naruto and sasuke are not interested in their relatives or how they feel about their absence at home

At the beginning, boruto is like a hyena with rage because his father does not spend time at home, he misses important dates like birthdays and does not have time for him, he also doesn't have time for his wife because at sasuke's call, naruto ran away and didn't want any of her food, which was sent by his son.

The thing with nh is that it is more subtle than ss, because sasuke can freely express his emotions in the face of displeasure with sakura, but naruto can't, he is different, naruto will be good because hnt is not mean to him, apart from the fact that he was literally forced to marry her, his friends called him stupid for not paying attention to her, add to that the fact that naruto suffers from social pressure, so if the world wanted him to marry the first woman naruto liked, he won't say no.

but being nice and social pressure won't make naruto feel comfortable being there either.

naruto is not comfortable in his office working all the time, but he also doesn't want to go home because he is not comfortable there either, when he is at home, he sleeps away from his family and he feels bored with his wife crying over a romance novel, (pst, this is so funny because nh really swears that naruto spends romantic time with hnt but the reality is that, she watching romantic movies and naruto bored being with her, naruto won't give she anything like that lol)

Another thing for which ss's marriage is criticized is because sakura makes sarada cry by hitting the ground because she got nervous seeing that her daughter is testing her marriage

crticism is fine, but again, them being criticized by nh is funny because again

boruto also looks for a way to know why his father is not in the house, unlike sarada who cries, boruto gets angry and wants to hit and criticize naruto for this, And like sarada, boruto also seeks explanations from his mother, because she is supposed to be the closest person to his father.... or not?

If his mother is crying, because unlike sakura who is aggressive, hnt is not, she is very passive and oblivious to problems, then seeing her son angry about his pathetic marriage Instead of giving him an explanation, all she can do is cry, because, like sakura, she doesn't know her husband, hinata married naruto, but she doesn't know him for who he is hinata only knows naruto because of his fanaticism, she knows him as one more fan of the ones he had when he was young, damn, at least she knows some of naruto's hobbies?

how can you sit trough dozen of chapters of naruto doing everything he can to keep sasuke alive, constantly worrying about his safety, and being the only one who actually tries to understand him…

Sasuke's War Crimes?!

today I saw several posts talking about how Sasuke should have been punished for war crimes. War Crimes. Let me consult Wikipedia:

War crimes - all the things Konoha had done.

What is Sasuke's unforgivable war crime? I've been trying to find answer for years. - Killing Samurai in combat? Sasuke was there for Danzo, if they stepped back he had no interest in them. - Killing Danzo? Maniac who orchestrated Uchiha genocide, why nobody thanked Sasuke for ending that scum? - breaking into Kage summit? If we want righteousness, then other Kages should have executed Danzo themselves. Or at least draft an apology later for trying to stop Sasuke. - Trying to kill Sakura? She was literally there to kill him, she had attacked first. - Trying to kill Naruto? It sound like Sasuke waited behind the door with an axe. Each time Sasuke hit him with chidori, Naruto came back with rasengan, so Naruto was equally trying to kill Sasuke. - Leaving the village that made him and others into a child soldiers (which is a war crime)? Maybe the crime is that nobody is allowed to have a free will in that village? I get it, it's a military village, but Sasuke made it clear that he wasn't planning to go against Konoha, he was going after Itachi, which was supposedly in Konoha's interests. - Or maybe crime was going to Orochimaru? Orochimaru who actually did (and most probably still does) some war crimes but was pardoned and attended Hokage's wedding. - there's also part where he wanted to end Konoha's and other village's war crime record and reform the world but no, we are happy with child soldiers, genocide and power imbalance. The actual words of the argument were "change their idyllic system". Idyllic system. The system was idyllic. - 'joining' Akatuski? Sasuke had never cared about Obito's goals and turned on them almost immediately. - Only thing that seems like an actual violation is attack on Bee, although Bee wasn't actually harmed. And it doesn't specify as war crime, Bee isn't a civilian.

So what is Sasuke's unforgivable crime, the war crime? What he did that was worse than for example - what Orochimaru had done?

I just saw a guy declaring that Sasuke was abusive towards Sakura and that he doesn't deserve her... and now I want to implode because. What the hell.

First of all, Sasuke never wanted Sakura and that's something he made VERY clear to her.

The fact that she continued to pursue him shows the lack of respect she has for herself. Because she's not even trying to understand him as a person, she just loves (the idea of) him and wants to be with him, and after Sasuke makes it clear multiple times that that's not going to happen Sakura just starts to look stupid.

The fact that people call their relationship abusive has to be some kind of stupid joke. You're telling me that Sasuke trying to kill her after she tried to stab him in the back is abusive? That him not reciprocating her feelings and not being patient or kind after the tenth time is abusive? That him not treating her like his friend when they're enemies at war is abusive?

And I mean the relationship does seem abusive but from another perspective.

Who ignores the other's feelings and tries to make it about her all the time? Who ignores the other's decisions and goes on with her own actions? Who crosses the boundaries set by the other person multiple times? Who ignores the fact that the other is a independent person with a history and only tries to have him under her possession and tries to kill him when that option is no longer plausible? Mhhh.

Sasuke: I don't like you. I don't want you. What I want is for you to get away from me.

Sakura: I'm gonna try to chase you and declare my feelings over and over again hoping that my tears will convince you to stay with me.

Sasuke: Are you at least going to try to understand me as a person and my motives?

Sakura: Why would I do that? I just want to have you

Sasuke: ... Well that's not going to happen, and you're starting to irritate me.

Sakura: *tries to kill him*

Sasuke: *tries to kill her back*

Sakura: How is it possible that you care more about Naruto than me?!

Naruto: *Is worried that Sasuke is going to put himself in danger and ruin his life. Does his best to understand Sasuke's history and his motives. Cares immensely for him and tries to protect him at all costs. Understands that they both have a special connection and if the only way for them to be free from suffering is to die together then that's what they'll do.*

Sasuke: *The reason he wants to kill Naruto is because he is his greatest weakness. He loves him too much and he knows it. He knows that Naruto has the chance to stop him in his attempt to avenge his family. He does everything he can to protect Naruto from dying unless it is by his own hand and trying to kill him brings him great pain.*

i swear to god no one will ever understand how much love sasuke holds inside him like me. like everyones so blinded by his anger as he reacted to all of konoha and itachi's abuse and the genocide of his family and clan without examining where that anger stems from. the fact that kishimoto quite literally made sure the narrative itself also demonized him for his behaviour just makes the way he's received even worse. but the only reason he ever did any of the things he did was because he loved his people and he felt pain at losing them!!!! initially he killed itachi because he killed the rest of their family and clan, but as soon as he found out itachi was also abused he wanted to avenge him and mourned the loss of him too! the fact that he immediately forgave him when he found out how he was used by the village for their evil even though itachi still inevitably scarred him irreparably? that's LOVE! his rage is absolutely righteous and completely entwined with his love and if you understand him you know that

We all know Hinata loved Naruto FROM THE BEGINNING. How do we know it? Well...

Like:

1) He clearly NEVER blushed around her

Not even once.

And even IF (but we all know he didn't) it wouldn't be in Shippuuden, then he was 100% over that "CRUSH"

2) He NEVER thought she was cool

3) Obviously Naruto has NEVER smiled at Sakura hugging Sasuke because NaruSaku was a crush AT BEST, so he never wanted her to be happy with someone else, that's would be LOVE and Naruto never loved her

4) And we obviously know he NEVER cared to protect her by jumping at a 100% stronger opponent... like never happened

5) Noone, not even once, thought Naruto loved Sakura, especially not because Naruto said it

6) And at last, he never said it, because if he did we wouldn't talk about it, right?

So, I started reading an alternative history fanfiction where Sasuke saves Itachi and I'm just at the first chapter, but even so I loved how faithfully the taka team was represented in this first part because they would follow Sasuke without questioned him, without any judgment or hesitation...

Kishimoto just made them for Him and nothing cam change my mind, they are similar to him and so do Sasuke to them.

Naruto Ships popularity in the Chinese fandom

There are many charts made with the omission of data to exaggerate a ship's popularity, especially so in the case of Sasuke/Sakura where they spread misinformation about it being the 'most popular' in the CN fandom, this couldn't be further from the truth.

I have statically reviewed the tags for particular ships across the most popular Chinese platforms and will provide the findings for the same.

1. Starting with Douyin, it is the China exclusive parent of tik-tok and one of most widely used app.

I don't think people can see the tag information in Douyin without accessing the app so I am pasting the screenshots here.

Sasuke/Sakura aren't even on the same scale, it's kind of funny.

2. Weibo

SasuNaru and NaruSasu are considered separate tags in the Chinese fandom and aren't used interchangeably like in the West , they rarely overlap which is why I have combined them for 'SNS'.

Regardless, Sasuke/Sakura don't have nearly as many supporters as their Sasuke-Naruto counterparts.

3. Lofter

Once again Sasuke/Naruto/Sasuke beat Sasuke/Sakura in both participants and views.

4.Overall

Sasuke/Naruto/Sasuke near more than 4 Billion views, Sasuke/Sakura are nowhere near it.
