just read an article on screenrant about how wenclair (most likely platonically) will be a focal point and at the forefront of season 2, which yeah, makes sense.

So… I saw someone say that Wednesday and Xavier were a typical Tim Burton couple because they're both "Socially awkward outcast and kind hearted" And I wondered what that person was up to smoke ?

No because when it comes to being an outcast, you know who else is ? Tyler. Besides, Wednesday has as much trouble fitting in with normal people as it does with pariahs. And Tyler is in exactly the same situation. Especially Tyler. So sorry, but Tyler is a lot more like Wednesday on that outcast-wise.

Also… When is Xavier socially awkward in society during the series ? Because I have no memory of that. I mean, Wednesday is the one who really struggles with this. But whether it's Xavier or Tyler, both handle the basic social aspect much better.

Then, as for having a "good heart", uh… how to say ? They all have it ? And everyone has their problems ? Tyler may hate outcasts and be a Hyde (which isn't a choice, he was born that way), but he's mentally disturbed and first and foremost a victim of abuse. It's not a monster. Just someone misunderstood who has been hurt, who has been fed his anxieties, as well as planting the seed of his hatred for the pariah.

Wednesday is a girl with sociopathic and / or serial killer tendencies, but she cares about the people she has love / affection for and will do anything to protect them.

Xavier is a guy… rather nice and normal but who, sorry, seems quite toxic in terms of romantic relationships.

I also want to say that precisely, Tim Burton tends to create couples between human / monster, or between people unsuited to society, but once again, Tyler corresponds much more to Wednesday on this point. He's an outcast as much to humans as he is to the outcasts in question, just like Wednesday.

You can like whatever ship you want, but just don't deny the fact. Is Xavier an outcast ? Yes. But as much as everyone in the school. It does not give him a particular link with Wednesday on this point. He's not the same type as Wednesday in terms of an outcast, unlike, again, Tyler's character.

At least that's my opinion. I really don't understand the fans of the ship between Wednesday and Xavier. They are nothing special. They are bland and boring to me. However, there are people who compare them to Gomez and Morticia ?! Like, sorry ?! I even have a friend of mine who is convinced that Wednesday will end with Xavier, that the end of season 1 sets this up and that there is no hope with Tyler, simply because he is a Hyde and lied See you Wednesday on that then… That he had no choice ? He had a fucking master ? Sorry, but I don't understand people who love these two together.

hi i saw another post earlier in relation to this but i kind of realized why enid has the effect on wednesday that she does

wednesday is very clearly autistic-coded (tim burton did this intentionally, i believe he has autism himself?) and obviously can't pick up social cues very well. she doesn't seem to feel bad every time she's reprimanded by tyler or xavier, because she just doesn't understand what she's doing wrong.

e.g; xavier finds out that she asked him out for the investigation and he says "youre unbelievable!" while also not explaining and communicating why he is upset with her

enid on the other hand, explained why she was upset with her when she was. explained that she felt unsafe and didn't appreciate being constantly put in danger, lied to, etc. by wednesday. she said that, and left. which made wednesday realize the consequences of her manipulating enid into more investigation shit.

so do you think xavier just yelling at her would work? or enid actually pointing out what she did wrong (very rightfully so) and making her face the consequences of it?

and as someone who has personally been rebuked for stuff i haven't quite understood, i would VERY much rather be told what ive done wrong and WHY its wrong before i just get fucking yelled at. of course, they're all teenagers but geez like at least try to be mature lol

don't get me wrong, i felt bad for wednesday in that scene but enid's response was very valid.

and this is the argument that i'll use every time someone says "oh but enid and wednesday don't have chemistry," yes they do. they communicate. god.

Have you thought about shipping Donovan with any other characters, or is he solely for Wednesday?

Someone on TT did a weird father-daughter Donovan x Enid edit and it got me thinking, hmn. Interesting to apply that dynamic, wonder if it would work with taboo...but even still, I feel strongly that (AB)Wednesday is the exception for him as far as the whole older/younger thing goes. I think people see the ship and go EW THE COP IS A PRED SO IT WORKS OUT except that's not how any of it plays out in Afterburn canon.

I've also seen ppl ship him with Weems. I can't see that one at all 💀 but I could roundabout see where maybe it could've been something during the 90s. (Hence...oh fuck nvm, I was ABOUT to reference a scene between Weems and Wednesday that hasn't happened in Afterburn yet LOL THIS WEED IS STRONG 😭 but shortly: Weems will tell Wednesday of Donovan's past because of certain circumstances in the Fall of 2023) I could see an entire backstory with Young Donovan being one of those low-key anti-Outcasters who weren't quite outright Goodmen...and how perhaps his first big case was the Gates "murder", hence his longstanding bitterness over Gomez.

But fr, because of that, I think he's only got tired, cranky eyes for ABW, and she feels the same way about him (this is actually kind of a big struggle in 8.1, because of the things she feels she needs to do regarding Tyler). It's poetic, and I honestly don't understand how no one before me didn't grab this taboo when it was sitting so perfectly out in the open.

RD's 'friend' did that whole the way she looks at Xavier thing re: her glassy eyes and I pointed this out before, but the fact remains, her Super Big Doe Eyes™ were used on Donovan more than once/every time she saw him...
