During her appearance as a guest on the spnthenandnow podcast, Cindy claimed the Dean was Ben's father, even though Jensen and Eric refuted this.
Yeah, some over invested Dean/Lisa shipper wrote up a whole ridiculous article about it [X] a while back.
Like, especially with the show going on fifteen seasons, often revisiting things, and having such an active fandom? I get how fans came to fixate on random characters or storylines they personally liked or wanted to see more of. Even (or especially) when those things were a very minor part of canon - or actually just their own fanfic and not canon at all. Including things TPTB explicitly shot down, because the show was on long enough to change who TPTB were multiple times. Meanwhile, fans feeling entitled to have media they like catered to their personal wants or they'll throw massive tantrums is an unfortunate overall trend in recent years across fandom, not just an issue with SPN. Not likeable, but I see how it happens.
What I haven't really seen outside of SPN, though? Is such a slew of entitled minor supporting actors trying to claim greater importance to a canon they were barely a part of for their own aggrandizement and hopes of being brought back. Like, the boon of ongoing cons isn't enough for them, they see all that SPN $$$ and want more of it directed their way.
You have Kim declaring she would just refuse to appear if they killed off Jody. You have Kim and Brianna bragging about deserving a spin-off where they'd show the boys how it's really done -and then throwing embarrassing public tantrums on SM when the network gave it the pass it deserved. You have Rob and Rich doing a podcast where it's not only obvious they don't actually like or respect the show? But they can't even be bothered to pay attention as they 'watch' it to milk the fandom through promises of insider info. Which aside from their own barely-there and therefore hardly expert insider status? Includes such, uh, gems as Cindy randomly claiming years after the fact Ben was actually Dean's kid and she totes played it that way - despite the canon and despite Kripke's explicit denial back when it was remotely relevant (as well as Jensen's).
All of this from people where not a one of them was involved in more than around 20ish of 327 episodes. But saying things certain over-invested fans want to hear gets them attention, $$$, and just might make them seem like 'fan favorites' that should be brought back! Yeah.

Better jobs for Steve than being a cop: teacher, counselor, bartender, florist, librarian assistant, garden section associate, dog walker (dog groomer canon?), grocery store manager, food pantry helper, seasonal worker as a Santa’s elf….

Im talking about AI in my philosophy class right now and it's bothering me so much. It always does but this is even worse.
I left class before to "go to the bathroom" and my teacher stopped me asking if I was alright and I said I wasn't, that these types of conversations make me stressed and anxious. He said that valid and ok. I went on to tell him how much I dislike AI and he told me that he wanted me to be able to see the benefits in AI so I could engage with the unit
He asked me if I would give him a chance to change my mind...
I am an artist, I am a writer, I have dreams of becoming an actor. I like to create. I like music. I couldn't stand having all of the replaced by AI
I was depressed, diagnosed with it 3 years ago. I know what it's like for life to lack life
AI lacks life and people wants it to be everywhere.
I finally found reasons to live, to love life and to thrive. I don't want to live in a world where that is taken away from me again.
That is why I hate AI so much. Fuck the convince, fuck the benefits. There is no life in it, and if it ends up being fundamental in human activity then what would be the point of living

I'm all for jason as a parent, I think he'd be great at it. But can we stop with the "jason becoming a parent to someone who's basically his age or straight up an aldult" because it's weird

Cracking up that every comment that mentions TW gets soo downvoted lmao. Even a lot of the ones saying they want more spn have more downvotes. But the ones asking for more TW are just majority 👎
Not just The Winchesters, comments wanting Wayward Sisters are also being downvoted! Then, there's these wise commenters:

the more i think about it the more i become convinced that what really sets ilsa off about cassia is that she sees too much of herself in her. this is not to say that cassia and ilsa are carbon copies of one another - wayward shows that growing up cassia got to have a level of innocence that ilsa was never afforded, and ilsa is far more hot-tempered with a shorter fuse - but the way cassia completely shuts down and retreats into herself as a defence mechanism is VERY similar to what we see ilsa do in her few moments of being at a genuine loss for words/actions (the safe room incident, the aftermath of the attack on aelius, hester's big reveal speech). and while cassia seems very aware of the parallels between her and ilsa from the beginning, ilsa seems in denial of it and never really stops denying. i think part of her initial fixation on cassia as the 'outsider' and a source of information on gedeon is because ilsa is trying to ignore that fact that she's just as much, if not more, of an outsider than cassia is even though the changelings are her people and gedeon is her brother. she rationalises her gut disdain towards cassia as a result of cassia being beautiful and shy and born into money, but that only matters to ilsa because, in spite of all of those things, cassia and ilsa are still eerily alike. cassia is ilsa’s mirror image, the proof that not everything about ilsa’s life would have been charmed if she’d been raised on the right side of the border. and ilsa can’t stand it.

The lack of source checking in conservative circles is fucking horrific. They take everything at headline value and don’t actually think about implications. Like jfc guys it’s not that hard to actually click on the article and read the SECOND PARAGRAPH about how the protestors specifically rioted in regards to the attacker’s SPECULATED ethnicity and terrorism being ruled out as a motive. They don’t care about his actual motive or the people they hurt - they just want more political ammunition for their anti-immigration views and they’re mad it’s not being handed to them on a silver platter. They set a cop car and double decker bus on fire in their tantrum about border control. That’s why it’s far-right - they’re a bunch of anti-immigration racists, not reasonable people deeply concerned about kids getting stabbed. Actually read your fucking sources before bitching about being unfairly portrayed in media.

Coincidentally that last post is why I ended up leaving both City of Heroes servers I was originally in, a lot of those people were just utterly nightmarish comic book fans and people with authority complexes.

I agree that lackluster chemistry between the actors was part of the problem with the spinoffs, but both backdoor pilots had another serious issue: Their concepts sucked. I don't think that "Pilot" is one of the all-time great episodes; for one thing, I get distracted by things like why cheated-on, infanticidal women would wear be known for wearing white. However, it does a serviceable job of tellings us about ghosts' strengths and weaknesses, their dynamic based in a tragic past ("Take your brother..."; John collapsing beneath his burning wife; Dean alternately dismissing Sam's individuality and rescuing him from a fire), and it gives them a simple mission with plenty of wiggle room for later eps. I'm also going to throw in the fact that WB hired David Nutter, one of the most successful pilot directors of all time, to helm it.
The plots for "Bloodlines" and "Wayward Sisters" make no sense. If the mythology for "Pilot" was bare-bones, the backdoor pilots' mythology was ludicrously dense, especially to be overlaid on locations we'd already seen on the OG. Considering Sam and Dean's multiple trips to Chicago ("Shadow"; "No Exit"; "Two Minutes to Midnight"), someone should've mentioned the fact that it was run by werewolf and vampire gangs. LMAO. As for "Wayward Sisters," why target fans of hot 20something men road-tripping through urban legends with a show about town-bound women fighting extra-dimensional bug people based on no recognizable real-life lore? With a sappy diary V.O., no less.
I haven't subjected myself to The Winchesters, but I will note that shooting began with a screenplay so bad that people on the internet thought the leaked copy was fake. It wasn't.
How come every supernatural spin-off failed? Supernatural bloodlines, the Winchesters, Supernatural animation.
What went wrong with them?
A lot of people don't even know the existence of Supernatural bloodlines and Supernatural animation
Jared and Jensen's lightening in the bottle chemistry pretty much cursed spin-off attempts. Those spin-offs failed because there was no Sam and Dean, especially the no-Sam part. They tried with diversity Sam in Bloodlines but that didn’t fly, but the lack of chemistry among the cast is also to be blamed.
Then they tried to pretend Alex-the-reformed-vampire-bait and Claire-the-discontinued-barbie-Novak are female versions of Sam and Dean, but the actresses have as much chemistry with each other as a cat and a wet towel.   The no-Sam in The Winchesters was so glaring that they tried to craft John Winchester into Sam 2.0.
When Sera Gamble introduced the Campell family in season 6, I thought they were going to explore the Winchester-Campbell family tree.  There was a lot of opportunities to mine stories from that family and even a potential for a spinoff.  I think Sera Gamble had the right idea in the post-Kripke era but it seems that the numbers weren’t there for the Campbell storyline, which should have told WB that The Winchesters wouldn't have worked.
Audiences don't stay for the brand recognition alone.
