Petition for Steven to disown his dad and take over Devon.
A revelation I had recently
Steven's dad, President Joseph Stone, is a horrible person in the manga, and nobody ever talks about it. He killed Aster so he could imprison and experiment on Rayquaza, and gets away scott-free.

The Case Against RFK Jr.
RFK Junior is not who you think he is.
It pains me to say it, but he is a dangerous nutcase.
He claims to want to heal America, but his vision for our future is tainted by his endorsements of hateful conspiracy theories – and the fact that he is being funded in large part by donors aligned with Donald Trump.
It’s time to lift the curtain on a campaign based on false, irresponsible, and self-contradictory claims.
RFK Junior repeatedly promoted a right-wing conspiracy theory that chemicals in the water are turning people gay or transgender.
He suggested COVID-19 was a bioweapon, mysteriously designed to spare Jewish people.
[RFK Jr.: “COVID-19 is targeted to attack Caucasians and Black people. The people who are most immune are Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese.”]
He’s spent years spreading anti-vaxx lies.
And in his 2021 book, RFK Junior alleged, with no plausible evidence, that Dr. Fauci performed genocidal experiments, sabotaged treatments for AIDS, and conspired with Bill Gates to suppress information about COVID-19.
These are not the words of someone who is serious about leading – let alone healing – this country.
As someone who once worked for his father, RFK, and admired his uncle, JFK, I’m disturbed to see RFK Junior speak this way.
RFK Senior would never have suggested that a deadly virus was targeted at certain races. And as president, JFK signed the Vaccination Assistance Act in order to, “achieve as quickly as possible the protection of the population, especially of all preschool children.”
If not for his illustrious name – and role as a potential spoiler – RFK Junior would be just another crackpot in the growing pool of fringe politicians.
It’s no coincidence that he shares top backers with the likes of Donald Trump and Marjorie Taylor Greene — or that Trump allies Roger Stone and Steve Bannon encouraged him to run in the first place.
But the Kennedy brand is political gold, and it could pull away just enough sympathetic voters to tip the race toward Trump.
Democracy won by a whisker in 2020. Just 44,000 votes in Arizona, Georgia, and Wisconsin decided the outcome. If RFK Junior — or any third-party candidate — peels off just a fraction of the vote from Biden, while Trump’s base stays with him, they will deliver a victory to Trump.
If Junior had any respect for the principles his father fought and ultimately died for, he would withdraw his candidacy. Immediately.

Nikki McCann Ramírez at Rolling Stone:
Donald Trump lasted about two minutes into Vice President Kamala Harris’ nomination acceptance speech before launching into a full-blown public unraveling. Moments after Harris took the stage Thursday at the Democratic National Convention, it became clear that the former president — and her 2024 opponent — was glued to the television in a hate-watch for the ages.
“Here she comes into the Arena,” was the first of around furious 50 posts in a Truth Social meltdown that began when Harris entered the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, and continued long after she left the stage. Notable reactions to Harris’ statements included: “IS SHE TALKING ABOUT ME?” “A lot of talk about childhood, we’ve got to get to the Border, Inflation, and Crime!” “Walz was an ASSISTANT Coach, not a COACH.” “Too many ‘Thank yous,’ too rapidly said, what’s going on with her?” “She caused the Attack of October 7th.” The former president was especially apoplectic about Harris’ description of he and his allies’ expansive plans to restrict reproductive rights. Harris said Trump “would limit access to birth control, ban medication abortion, and enact a nationwide abortion ban, with or without Congress.” She added that Trump “plans to create a national anti-abortion coordinator and force states to report on women’s miscarriages and abortions.” “Simply put, they are out of their minds,” Harris concluded. “One must ask: why exactly, is it that they don’t trust women?” Harris was describing components of Project 2025, the conservative personnel and policy program created to help the next GOP president (read: Trump) quickly impose a far-right agenda.
Trump has actively tried to run away from the project in recent months, because its plans poll terribly. He was not pleased with being tied once again to its proposals. “I do not limit access to birth control … THAT IS A LIE, these are all false stories that she’s making up, that I’ve never even heard of. It’s just words coming out of her mouth,” Trump posted. “I TRUST WOMEN, ALSO, AND I WILL KEEP WOMEN SAFE! SHE WON’T, BECAUSE THE INVASION OF OUR COUNTRY AT HER OPEN BORDER IS DESTROYING THE LIVES OF WOMEN, AND THE FAMILIES AND JOBS OF AFRICAN AMERICANS AND HISPANICS.” Trump only stopped posting in order to call into Fox News, where he raged at anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum. When MacCallum pointed out that Harris was gaining in several polls and key demographics, Trump countered that “she’s not having success. I’m having success.”
[...] The hosts eventually cut him off, ostensibly because it was time for a special edition of Fox’s cringiest show: Gutfeld! Trump, however, was nowhere near done, and within minutes was calling into Newsmax’s live DNC coverage. There, the former president complained that Harris hadn’t addressed “woman trafficking” in her speech, and suggested he and the hosts take a trip to Caracas, Venezuela. He was still accidentally jamming the buttons on his phone during the call. “He is uhh, he’s a very special man,” host Greg Kelly said when the former president finally hung up.
During Kamala Harris’s DNC speech last night, Donald Trump had an unhinged hissy fit on multiple outlets: TRUTH Social, Faux “News”, and Newsmax.
Let that be a reminder that this unhinged jerk cannot be allowed another term in office.

Nobody is more qualified than Patel, a true Trump loyalist with the courage to tackle the momentous task that is at hand.
Roger Stone
Nov 26, 2024
President Donald Trump’s cabinet is taking shape. With Attorney General selection Pam Bondi and the possible upcoming appointment of Matt Gaetz as special counsel to investigate federal corruption, the opportunity to bring the Deep State to heel is at hand.
There is a reason that President Trump faced repeated assassination attempts throughout the 2024 campaign, after the establishment realized they didn’t have the resources to rig the election like they had successfully done in 2020. They know Trump has the potential to drain the swamp and clean up the intelligence community that has been out of control since before the successful JFK assassination conspiracy.
But that potential will only be realized with the right appointment. If an individual like Bill Barr, Christopher Wray or John Kelly can worm their way into the post of FBI Director, there will be no substantial reforms. The deep state will be protected, and the infiltrators will give half-measures and pay lip service as the time runs out on Trump’s mandate. Already, the Neocons have tried (and failed) to shoehorn failed Michigan U.S. Senate candidate Mike Rogers into the role.
Trump has already made the correct choice for Director of National Intelligence with Tulsi Gabbard. Gabbard will be overseeing organizations like the NSA that have been caught red handed spying on all Americans in a clearly unconstitutional manner. The message has been sent to the spying apparatus that their actions against the 4th Amendment will not be tolerated. Now, that same message must be sent to the FBI.

Which President, in your opinion, was the most reluctant to seek the position? Which wound up hating it the most by the end of his term?
I am a strong believer that nobody truly becomes President of the United States "reluctantly". That's not exactly the kind of job that seeks you, especially the modern Presidency.
For a significant slice of American history, many of the people nominated for President acted as if they were being called upon to run when, behind-the-scenes, they were very active in building their campaigns and corralling supporters. Until the 20th Century it was frowned upon to openly run for the Presidency, but almost all of the Presidents wanted the gig.
I'd say that George Washington was probably more reluctant than most of his successors and likely would have preferred retiring to Mount Vernon after the Revolution, but I think he also recognized that he was the guy who needed to be the President that set the precedents. I think Ulysses S. Grant would have been perfectly happy to not be President, but once he was elected in 1868 he also wanted to keep the job. He even tried to run for a third term in 1880.
That 1880 election might have been the one case where the winner -- James Garfield -- genuinely wasn't interested in the Presidency at that point. He had gone to the Republican National Convention to support fellow Ohioan John Sherman (and defeat Grant's hopes for a third term) and gained some major attention after giving a well-received speech placing Sherman's name in nomination. When the candidacies of Sherman and James G. Blaine -- another anti-Grant candidate -- stalled, Garfield became a compromise choice and was eventually nominated on the 36th ballot. Garfield was apparently legitimately shocked by the events leading to him leaving Chicago as the GOP nominee.
By most accounts, William Howard Taft was far more interested in a potential seat on the Supreme Court than becoming President. At heart he was a judge and believed himself to be better suited for the judiciary than the Executive Branch. But Taft turned down three offers by Theodore Roosevelt to be appointed to the Supreme Court (in 1902, 1903, and 1906) because he felt obligated to complete his work as Governor-General of the Philippines and then Secretary of War. But Taft's wife desperately wanted him to become President and by the time of President Roosevelt's third offer of a seat on the Court, Taft was already being talked about as Roosevelt's hand-picked successor in the White House. And, as with all other Presidents, once he had a taste for the job, he didn't want to give it up, running for re-election in 1912 against his former friend, Roosevelt.
Gerald Ford is the only other President who hadn't spent a significant portion of his political career with his eyes on the White House. Ford spent nearly a quarter-century in the House of Representatives and his main ambition was to be Speaker of the House, but Republicans weren't able to win control of the House when Ford was in Congressional leadership positions. But even with Ford being a creature of Congress, he did attempt to put himself forward as a nominee for the Vice Presidency, first in 1960 and then in 1968, and Nixon kicked the tires on picking him as his running mate in 1960. No one wants to be Vice President without seeing it as a potential stepping stone to the Presidency, particularly at that point in history before Vice Presidents were empowered with some real influence within the Administrations they served in.
As for who wound up hating it by the end of their time in office, I think it's safe to say that John Quincy Adams didn't shed too many tears when he was defeated for re-election in 1828. And I'm sure he wouldn't use the word "hate", but nobody can convince me that George W. Bush wasn't thoroughly ready to escape Washington by late-2007. There were times in 2008 when he seemed like he just wanted to hold a snap election like they have in parliamentary systems and go home to Texas. If some Presidential insider published a book that said that Bush asked if he could just give the keys to the White House to Barack Obama in July 2008, I wouldn't be the least bit shocked.
On the other hand, if there were no term limits, Bill Clinton would have been running for President in every election since 1992 (and the crazy thing is that he's still younger than both of the presumptive 2024 nominees). I'm kind of surprised that he didn't make an effort to repeal the 22nd Amendment in the past 20 years. Clinton loved being President and was trying to find something Presidential to do until minutes before his successor was inaugurated in 2001.

Screaming into a void time (another long one, sorry)...
Ok, I have tolerated these shenanigans with the Boston bonehead and his merry band of clout chasers and liars, watching his soul decay while everyone (including me) debated whether he was married or not, how many ceremonies they had, how they traveled and where they lived (and was it even their ugly-ass house in MA or NY) but I have to lay down some cold hard truths for our anxiety riddled pothead.
Your decisions, forced or not, have led you to this horrid point. Your only choices may have been between a turd sandwich and a giant douche (thanks, South Park) but you made that choice. And something tells me you didn't just come to this point out of nowhere. There were probably a string of missed lessons along the way that painted you into such a corner.
I know you may be fragile right now but you need to hear this as I suspect you are not hearing it from your loser friends or listening to the ones who do have your best interest at heart.
You are teetering on the ragged edge, my friend. I just saw the first trailer for Pain Hustlers and I can see why they released it only a week and a half before it is in the theaters- because Netflix wants to bury it. Another in a long line of duds your team should have been adept at steering you clear from. You better hope the strike last long enough to where Red One has to be postponed until next year, otherwise you will pull off the hat trick of working your ass off on three movies that have showcased how little anyone cares (you or the audience). I could be wrong about Red One, but this was filmed during your fugue state where the real Chris disappeared and was replaced with a stoned automaton who had no problem selling out everything he believed in. Not conducive to the best creative energy.
Well, buddy, it is time to wake up. You are aware of what is going on in the world, right? You used to have a website that cared about this stuff. Too bad you couldn't use this time off from the strike to pour into that instead of pretending to get married to a woman you refuse to touch or even sit near, breadcrumming two weddings by leveraging the poor boundaries you have established with your family and friends and giving the worst interview to GQ, making you look like a tone deaf, moronic, pretentious asshole.
You need to separate yourself from these racist, anti-semites NOW. While some outside the fandom are starting to notice, it will catch on like a house on fire if you aren't careful. Remember how easy it was for the fandom to find out all this shit about them last year? And now look at what is going on outside. Hamas is a terrorist organization who wants nothing more than to have Jews exterminated from the planet. And here in the US, we have someone vying to be Speaker of the House (second in line for the Presidency) who describes himself as "David Duke without the baggage"; you remember David Duke, right? You used to stand up to him before you were made to look like a fucking joke).
There is no such thing as a little bit racist, or a little bit antisemetic, and for all intents and purposes, you married one, with all her "baggage". Certificate or no certificate; pictures or no pictures. This isn't one of those things that you can claim plausible deniability. You are in it. And if you think your privlege can save you, maybe it can, but I doubt it. It may not have happened yet, but the Sword of Damocles is hanging just above your head.
It comes down to the difference between intent and impact. No one really believes this has been your intent, but that matters little to those impacted by your actions. I know you have "cyclical unhappiness" when you think about the small stuff too much, but too bad. There is no way to take yourself out of the equation. You are not a used car lot balloon, who frantically moves every which way until the air is let out and deflates into nothing. You are a grown human being and like all of us, have a responsibility to understand your place in the universe. Otherwise, you are just stepping over bodies with such carelessness- the teacher in Portugal who only thought she was supporting a charity, your friends trying to promote one of your crappy movies, only to have it derailed by your drama backstage, fans getting harassed and even receiving death threats for speaking the truth we see with our own eyes. You may not be doing these things with your own hands, but that does not absolve your responsibility.
As I said before, this is your time to wake up. Coming clean with pure heart and honesty is the only solution at this point. If you wait too long or dig your heals in, like we have seen before, it will be too late. Do you think Jinx will want to partner with an antisemite loving dog dad? What studio will hire you, even for your one movie a year? Based on your crappy decision making skills, I have a feeling any pottery you sell will be break even with the amount of pot you smoke. So invest wisely and I hope your accountants are more trustworthy than the rest of the people you have surrounded yourself with.
Now, I am actually a very kind person who for some reason is still rooting for you. I still think there is a good person buried deep in there. These are rare and may be why I can't give up just yet.
You have the con this weekend. I know you can't promote Captain America, but think back to what he stood for. You even referenced him and how you aimed to be more like him in that god forsaken GQ video. So do it, you dummy! You will feel much better when your soul is unburdened. Then follow the advise I and many others have given before:
Get a good therapist and do the work
Decide if you really want to act or not; if so, take some classes to shake the cobwebs off; If not, are you going to be ok giving up the perks?
Don't use weed as a crutch
Establish clear boundaries with family and friends
Remove relationships (personal and professional) that are no longer serving you or even doing you harm
Listen to what your head and the universe is telling you
Do not get into a relationship until you have an idea of who you are and at least get to the "like" stage
To quote Florence and the Machine (Wish That You Were Here):
And now I'm reaching out with every note I sing And I hope it gets to you on some pacific wind Wraps itself around you and whispers in your ear Tells you that I miss you and I wish that you were here

If you are in the USA today, go VOTE!!!
So many people only vote in presidential elections when it is the smaller more local elections that have so much control over your lives!!! The president is not a king and can effect NOTHING if they have a hostile congress!! Congresspeople come from smaller local government offices! VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!
If you don't show up to vote against, then you are voting for. A mediocre candidate who votes FOR you in office most of the time is still better than a hostile candidate who will vote against you while in office. If you can't vote for, then at least vote against!
Vote LOCAL!
School Board – Your local School Board is responsible for:
Content of your sex education including gay sex & safety, and all the sexual variants that real people have.
whether gay marriage can be talked about in school
whether a child gets called their chosen name vs their dead name in class.
all policies about trans kids, including anti-bullying policies
whether or not your school has to tell parents that you are identifying as queer. (If a kid is not telling their parents that they are some form of alt/queer/non-b THERE IS A REASON FOR IT. Schools telling these parents can result in abuse, shaming, being kicked out of the house, being 'beaten straight' etc.)
Access to gender affirming care in the clinic or counselor's office
Book bans – school book bans are often used as a step/justification for book bans at the local library.
The content of your history class. Whitewashing slavery. Whitewashing Nazi Germany. Whitewashing colonialism.
And much, much more. In addition, School Boards are often a stepping stone to larger offices. The progression is: School Board, City/County board, State office, National office. If you want state and national officials to support you, you have to grow them at the LOCAL LEVEL!!!
City/County Government:
How much money schools get. (And therefore can effect/dictate policies.)
How much money cops get. (And therefore can effect/dictate policies.)
How much money public services (firemen, local health services, libraries etc) get.
Local government regulations & laws (i.e. being arrested for 'indecency' because you are in drag.)
And again, don't forget that these are the 'feeder' offices that lead to government offices. These people go on to state offices!!
Your STATE Legislature is responsible for:
All abortion policies. Since Roe v. Wade has been tossed there is no federal prevention against any abortion policies.
All sexual health policies. From birth control to sex changes. Their laws can range from sensible to inhumane.
All CIVIL RIGHTS policies that are not explicitly guarded and monitored by the federal government are left up to the states. Take a look at Louisiana, Florida, Mississippi, Arizona, etc. if you want examples.
And, of course, they can dictate policies to smaller municipalities (see City/County).
The most likely State office that leads to the presidency is Governor or a state. If you want better presidents, you need better governors!
Gerrymandering:
“But...but, but... I am gerrymandered so it doesn't make a difference if I vote!!” It DOES! If you are in a gerrymandered district and the crazy left wing crusader wins with a landslide because you DID NOT VOTE, then their party will keep putting in crazy right wing crusaders! If the vote is closer, EVEN IF YOU LOSE, their party is more likely to put in a more centrist candidate because they don't want to risk losing the seat. In addition, voting records are used to determine 1) the NEXT time areas are redistricted and 2) To show severe gerrymandering to courts to OVERTURN gerrymandered districts and force a redistricting. Right now there are people who are wining court case after court case to force redistricting of gerrymandered states and they are using voting data to do so!!! VOTE!!!
Please re-post this. Please blaze this. Please pass it on. PLEASE VOTE!

So RFK Jr says he’s planning to run for President as a Democrat, perhaps to emulate his Uncle Ted’s “success” against Carter. Here he is with a few of his supporters.
You probably know treason weasel Michael Flynn & ratfucker Roger Stone, but the woman in the photo is Charlene Bollinger, in case she’s unfamiliar to you. She and her husband Ty are anti-vax profiteers who sell a fake cure for cancer.
Sometimes the apple falls a long way from the tree, rolls down the hill, across the road, and into a leech-infested swamp.

Yeniifer Alvarez-Estrada Glick, remember her name because she is the first woman to be reported* to die from the fall of Roe and the Texas abortion ban. She won't be the last.
*There may be others we don't know about, but she is the first to make any kind of news that I have heard about.
The New Yorker link has limited access and I could only see it long enough to catch her name and find the response post that also includes details of her death. I first heard of this on the Rachel Maddow show. Here are some quotes:
Today, The New Yorker published a heart-breaking piece about Yeniifer Alvarez-Estrada Glick, a 29 year-old woman who died a few weeks after Roe was overturned. In the headline, the magazine asks, “Did An Abortion Ban Cost a Young Texas Woman Her Life?” The answer, without a doubt, is yes. So why is it so hard to say so? Anyone who works in the abortion rights world knows that bans have killed multiple people since Roe was overturned. The public hasn’t heard their stories, though, because families understandably don’t want their loved ones’ lives and deaths picked apart by reporters and anti-abortion activists. It’s only a matter of time, for example, before Republicans and conservative groups claim that Yeni’s death had nothing to do with Texas’ abortion ban. They’ll point to how the young woman could be inconsistent taking her hypertension medication, or the time she missed an appointment with a maternal fetal medicine specialist. They will find a way to blame her...
Yeni would be alive if she was given an abortion. Yet this young woman with hypertension, diabetes and a history of pulmonary edema was never even talked to about ending her pregnancy. Not when she went to the emergency room of a Catholic hospital just 7 weeks into her pregnancy with breathing problems, not when she visited an affiliated OBGYN who told Yeni she was at risk of having a heart attack and stroke. Abortion wasn’t even mentioned when Yeni was so ill that she had to be transferred to a bigger hospital where records stated she was at “high risk for clinical decompensation/death.” As OBGYN Joanne Stone, former president of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, told The New Yorker, “If she weren’t pregnant, she likely wouldn’t be dead.”
This is an election year and we are posed to either re-elect Biden who will appoint a judge that would bring the courts back to balance. Or Trump who is responsible for appointing judges specifically to end Roe v Wade.
There is so little the average American can do about this, but most of us have the power to vote. Please use it. And please pay attention to your local races too.

The New York Times over the weekend published a splashy profile of Arab-American activists in Michigan, detailing Muslim voters' anger over President Joe Biden's handling of the Israel-Hamas war.
It didn't tell readers, however, that several of the people featured in the piece, titled "Here’s How Joe Biden Loses Michigan," have praised Hamas or called for the destruction of Israel, providing a window into the nature of the opposition even to the Biden administration's tepid support for the Jewish state.
The activists featured in the video essay include:
Amer Zahr, an activist based in Dearborn, Mich., told the Times the United States is "actively funding" genocide in Gaza. What they didn't tell us: Zahr, a former surrogate for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.), said at a Dearborn rally in December 2017 that he "stand[s] with every resistance against Israel and every resistance against the occupation … whether it's called Hamas, whether it's called Hezbollah." In a Facebook video in December 2021, Zahr urged Muslims and Arabs to "stop condemning anti-Semitism."
Imran Salha, the imam of the Islamic Center of Detroit, told the Times he would only vote for Biden on a ballot signed with "blood" thanks to Biden’s funding for "genocide" in Gaza. What they didn’t tell us: Salha said at a pro-Palestinian rally in Detroit days after Hamas's invasion of Israel that Muslims have a "fire in our hearts that will burn that state until its demise," the Washington Free Beacon reported. In a sermon at the Islamic Center of Detroit in May 2023, Salha referred to the "sick, disgusting Zionist regime" and prayed: "may Allah eradicate them from existence."
Wissam Charafeddine, whom the Times identified as an employee of the Dearborn public school system, told the paper he would not vote for Biden, "and no one will be voting for Biden that I know of." What they didn’t tell us: He has called in social media posts for the "elimination" of Israel and sided with Hamas over the Jewish state. "Israel deserves elimination more than Hamas given the genocide and thousands of massacres," Charafeddine wrote in April. In February, he stated: "Hamas should not negotiate with terrorists."
Nidal Jboor, a physician, asserted to the Times that "no Americans should vote for a president who supported genocide." What they didn’t tell us: Jboor is the cofounder of Doctors Against Genocide, an anti-Israel group that planned to hold a protest in December against the Jewish state inside the United States Holocaust Museum. The museum called the protest "deeply offensive to survivors and the memory of the victims to exploit Holocaust history."
Biden, who beat former president Donald Trump in Michigan by 150,000 votes in 2020, narrowly trails the Republican in recent polls, according to FiveThirtyEight. And according to the Times, anti-Biden sentiments among Michigan’s sizable Arab- and Muslim-American communities are "more than enough" to swing the battleground state against Biden. "This enclave may pick America’s next president," a Times narrator says.
Biden has sought to alleviate his eroding support in Michigan, dispatching White House and campaign officials to meet with Arab-American leaders in Dearborn, some of whom have expressed support for Hamas.
Team Biden met earlier this year with Arab American News publisher Osama Siblani, who has referred to Hamas and the Iran-backed terrorist group Hezbollah as "freedom fighters." In 2022, Siblani urged Arabs to "fight" Israel with "stones" or "guns," the Free Beacon reported. The Times has quoted Siblani in multiple stories in its coverage of Biden's relationship with Arab and Muslim voters without mentioning Siblani’s sympathetic views of terrorist groups.
The Times did not respond to a request for comment.
Here is a 2021 Amer Zahr Twitter post - EY

For whenever someone tries to get away from Slavery as the cause of the civil war or that Racism wasn’t the basis of the argument, it’s worth remembering this quote by Confederate Vice President Alexander H. Stephens, from his March 21, 1861, Cornerstone Speech, presenting the reasons for the fight.
Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite idea; its foundations are laid, its corner-stone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery subordination to the superior race is his natural and normal condition. This, our new government, is the first, in the history of the world, based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth. This truth has been slow in the process of its development, like all other truths in the various departments of science. It has been so even amongst us. Many who hear me, perhaps, can recollect well, that this truth was not generally admitted, even within their day. The errors of the past generation still clung to many as late as twenty years ago. Those at the North, who still cling to these errors, with a zeal above knowledge, we justly denominate fanatics. All fanaticism springs from an aberration of the mind from a defect in reasoning. It is a species of insanity. One of the most striking characteristics of insanity, in many instances, is forming correct conclusions from fancied or erroneous premises; so with the anti-slavery fanatics. Their conclusions are right if their premises were. They assume that the negro is equal, and hence conclude that he is entitled to equal privileges and rights with the white man. If their premises were correct, their conclusions would be logical and just but their premise being wrong, their whole argument fails.
It was Racism and Slavery. They said so. They meant it. Anything else is pure revisionism and mythology.

Sunshine Sachs must've called in a LOT of favors to get so many famous names on board the Archetypes Podcast and the 40x40 project. Vanity projects that went... nowhere.
Without Sunshine Sachs, IMO it's highly unlikely that M will ever be able to reach the same level of celebrity access on her own.

Myah Ward at Politico:
Donald Trump vowed to “rescue” the Denver suburb of Aurora, Colorado, from the rapists, “blood thirsty criminals,” and “most violent people on earth” he insists are ruining the “fabric” of the country and its culture: immigrants. Trump’s message in Aurora, a city that has become a central part of his campaign speeches in the final stretch to Election Day, marks another example of how the former president has escalated his xenophobic and racist rhetoric against migrants and minority groups he says are genetically predisposed to commit crimes. The supposed threat migrants pose is the core part of the former president’s closing argument, as he promises his base that he’s the one who can save the country from a group of people he calls “animals,” “stone cold killers,” the “worst people,” and the “enemy from within.” He is no longer just talking about keeping immigrants out of the country, building a wall and banning Muslims from entering the United States. Trump now warns that migrants have already invaded, destroying the country from inside its borders, which he uses as a means to justify a second-term policy agenda that includes building massive detention camps and conducting mass deportations.
In his lengthy speech Friday, Trump delivered a broadside against the thousands of Venezuelan migrants in Aurora. And he declared that he would use the Alien Enemies Act, which allows a president to authorize rounding up or removing people who are from enemy countries in times of war, to pursue migrant gangs and criminal networks. “Kamala [Harris] has imported an army of illegal alien gang members and migrant criminals from the dungeons of the third world … from prisons and jails and insane asylums and mental institutions, and she has had them resettled beautifully into your community to prey upon innocent American citizens,” he said.
His rhetoric has veered more than ever into conspiracy theories and rumors, like when he amplified false claims about Haitian immigrants in Ohio eating pets. And Trump has demonized minority groups and used increasingly dark, graphic imagery to talk about migrants in every one of his speeches since the Sept. 10 presidential debate, according to a POLITICO review of more than 20 campaign events. It’s a stark escalation over the last month of what some experts in political rhetoric, fascism, and immigration say is a strong echo of authoritarians and Nazi ideology. “He’s been taking Americans and his followers on a journey since really 2015 conditioning them … step by step instilling hatred in a group, and then escalating,” said Ruth Ben-Ghiat, a history professor at New York University who writes about authoritarianism and fascism and has been outspoken about the dangers of a second Trump administration.
“So immigrants are crime. Immigrants are anarchy. They’re taking their jobs, but now they’re also animals who are going to kill us or eat our pets or eat us,” she continued. “That’s how you get people to feel that whatever is done to them, as in mass deportation, rounding them up, putting them in camps, is OK.” The Trump campaign said while the “media obsesses over rhetoric,” the former president is responding to voters’ concerns. [...]
Trump has long deployed racist attacks for political gain, including spreading conspiracy theories about whether former President Barack Obama, the nation’s first Black president, was born in the United States. And when he launched his first campaign in 2015, Trump said Mexico was “not sending its best,” calling immigrants from the country “rapists” who are bringing in crime and drugs. He also promised that day to build a “great big wall.”
But times have changed, and so has he. The country has moved to the right on immigration — including the Democratic Party and Trump’s opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, the daughter of Jamaican and Indian immigrants. Trump repeatedly bashed Harris as “dumb,” questioned her racial identity and has called her a “DEI” candidate — perpetuating the idea that women and people of color can only be in positions of power because of quotas and preferential treatment. Harris has touted her record prosecuting transnational gangs, drug cartels and human traffickers and has promised strict enforcement at the Southern border — an effort to appease Americans’ concern about illegal migration. The vice president has vowed to go even further than the Biden administration’s crackdown on asylum. As the political conversation around immigration has shifted, Trump has not only intensified his rhetoric, but his policy plans.
He has increasingly targeted specific communities, including Springfield, Ohio, Charleroi, Pennsylvania and Aurora, arguing that immigrants are destroying American towns and cities across the country and using those examples to call for large-scale federal response. Trump has spent the last month on the trail elevating the claims about those communities — even as local officials have been denying these allegations and asking the Republican nominee to stand down. Trump on Friday used false stories about gang takeovers in Aurora as he announced he would remove migrants connected to gangs under an “Operation Aurora” based on presidential wartime powers under the Alien Enemies Act. (While police in Aurora have encountered some gang activity tied to a Venezuelan group, there has been no gang takeover in Colorado.)
Politico takes a look at how Donald Trump’s racist and anti-immigrant hatred-fueled messaging has gotten more dark, authoritarian, and apocalyptic in tone.

Marissa R. Moss at Rolling Stone:
In 2016, at what became an ill-fated celebration to hopefully usher in the first female president, there was not one country music performer at the Democratic National Convention. There were pop stars like Demi Lovato, Lenny Kravitz, and Lady Gaga, but there wasn’t a single performance that drew from the country or Americana worlds. This was a mistake, clearly: The attitude was that country music and Southern/rural stuff was for Trumpers, and to be avoided at all costs, and that doesn’t end well when you’re trying to win an election, or understand the American public at large on a level deeper than “red state bad.” There are blue voters in those red states, if you get them to the polls, but you have to speak — or sing — their language to get them there.
The first night of the 2024 Democratic National Convention, wherein we’ll once again make a go for a female president, looked and sounded a whole lot different from eight years ago. There weren’t big pop-star performances (though surely they are coming), but there was country: a country artist, Mickey Guyton, and a country person, Jason Isbell, singing “Something More than Free” with his unmistakable Alabama drawl in front of an image of a barn with an American flag on it. These signifiers have been generally reserved for Trump rallies when it comes to the Venn diagram of music and recent politics, with country music’s conservative core latching on to the jingoist beat in earnest since 9/11, though the alliance between the two dates back far longer.
By opening their convention with Isbell and Guyton, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz seem to want to change that, with the cherry on top appearing in the form of a Harris/Walz camouflage baseball hat released a few weeks ago — it sold out instantly. But it’s country artists like Jason Aldean, who appeared at the Republican National Convention and engages in the workingman’s sport of country club golf with former president Trump, who like to own this sort of symbolism. His 2019 album, 9, even contained a song called “Camouflage Hat.” That’s the genius work of this one small bit of Harris/Walz merch. The hat reclaims the rural and Southern identity that mainstream Democrats have long ignored, all in with the power of one nifty little cap. Ella Emhoff proudly wore hers last night, while Walz displayed his own — also camouflage — Jason Isbell hat backstage.
Meanwhile, it’s the Trump supporters who are the ones getting country music wrong, soundtracking their TikTok videos in support of the ex-president with none other than The Chicks’ “Not Ready to Make Nice,” which was written after their expulsion from Nashville in the wake of anti-Iraq War comments and their refusal to apologize. This baffling phenomenon by the right seems to come from either an inability to Google, or an assumption that everything country music must be conservative, and it’s hard to decide which is worse.
Between Jason Isbell, Maren Morris, Mickey Guyton, and The Chicks, the DNC was eager to embrace country music. That is a good thing, as Republicans don’t have a monopoly on the genre. #DNC2024 #2024DNC

Sic Semper Tyrannis
The loneliest man in the world lives in a marble-clad mansion on the top of a great hill. The hill is completely surrounded by a giant moat half a mile deep and one hundred yards across, and what the lonely man still considers to be the most sophisticated wall in the world.
It is indeed an awe-inspiring work of architecture. One thousand feet of stone, concrete and steel, protected by security cameras that watched every square inch of the wall and its immediate surroundings, over two thousand machine guns, and over two hundred guard towers rising a hundred feet atop the wall. Each watchtower was topped with two anti-aircraft missile systems, antennae for jamming enemy communications and disseminating propaganda, and one nuclear launch system. Whether or not the lonely man ever had bombs to launch is still a matter of debate.
Nobody living outside the walls has been brave enough to check, and the loneliest man in the world is not about to tell.
Behind these walls lie the Presidential Gardens. They aren't as beautiful as they were when the lonely man's propaganda was filmed, before the grapevines were allowed to cover the marble statues of the Heroes of the Republic and the wheat and corn were allowed to spread like the grasses they are. Before the roses covered the calm, winding paths in sharp thorns and the orchards began to spread and turn the entire place into a single large forest. Before feral pigs and chickens could wander freely through it all. Before the giant golden statue of the lonely man at the top of what had once been the President's Fountain had a family of pigeons nesting happily atop its head.
The golden dome of the Great House of the Republic shines over the Presidential gardens, though the wind and rain has dulled the bright white marble facade to a dull pale gray. There is only a single door into the building that once housed nearly fifty thousand people. Above it, the Presidential balcony looks out at the gardens. Empty, save for five machine guns and a handful of spent shells.
The lonely man was once a very charismatic man, to be able to oversee the construction of all of this.
Day by day, the forest grows closer and closer to the Great House of the Republic. A Rose vine climbs up the first in a long line of pikes atop which the severed heads of Enemies of The Party are displayed. Wheat and corn and flowers of all types feed on the corpses beneath the mounds where the Enemies of The Party were buried. Saplings sprout right next to the mansion's walls, their roots preparing to eat away at its foundation.
The lonely man sees none of this, for he ordered all the windows in the mansion to be boarded up back when there were still people in the mansion to give orders to. A few years later, he ordered the same for the door outside. To protect his people from the Enemies of The Party.
The mansion is a colossal web of rooms and hallways, there is only one man alive who knows how it looks from the inside. Its original architect was labeled an Enemy of The Party and killed. His corpse rotting somewhere in the halls along with all those who questioned the lonely man's orders after the door was boarded up.
The loneliest man in the world lives in a marble-clad mansion on the top of a great hill. He wanders its endless halls calling for all within earshot to stand with him against the enemies of the Party and of the Republic before they can destroy their way of life.
The calls were quite convincing, when there were people there to hear him.
