This is just a thing I see on my internet romps every now and then but it drives me crazy for no reason, bare with me. Why do people draw lines in the sand about different kinds of therians lol? Who cares if someone woke up and decided that they're wolf therian or something when you decided unconsciously you were a wolf therian instead. Why do people fight about whether or not someone can choose to be therian, its the most silly gatekeeping I see. And don't come at me saying "well theres this label for chosen therians because they're not actual therians like me" you guys... made these terms up in the first place it literally doesn't matter. There is absolutely zero difference between a chosen therian and a not chosen therian and you can't convince me otherwise. How would a self proclaimed "real" therian know that they didn't just choose to be therian one day, there's absolutely no way you can know that for sure.

Every time I become curious about a subculture there's always some ridiculous gatekeeping, even objectums seem to fight over silly bullshit.

I've seen anti-kins claiming that all therians are just felines and canines more than once and it is just so funny to me because they fail to see how diverse we actually are as a community because they never actually... yk... look. They just judge based on what they see on the surface.

We were pioneered by elves like myself. I've met dragons, armadillos, pangolins, horses, possums, stoats, kangaroos, monkeys, crows, angels, zombies, ant-eaters, dinosaurs, hedgehogs, owls, hamsters, hell, I've met bugs. There is so much diversity within the therian community that close-minded people refuse to see.

So basically... Shoutout if you have a common kintype! Shoutout if you have an uncommon kintype! And a special shoutout to celestials, infernals, elves, dragons and paleos because y'all are metal. Love you all!

sometimes being an animal on the Internet means making lots of Therian/Otherkin flavored posts about phantom body parts and the urge to eat grass/raw meat/ants and going out to howl and run like an unchained beast and wearing collars being the best Feeling in the world. and sometimes it looks like simply scrolling a website under an animal url with an animal themed blog site layout and having other animals on the Internet recognize your hub from the icon/url and go haha I know that [insert species] casually.

So I think I was wrong about being an ant therian.

I am an ant. But I might have been wrong about it being a theriotype.

If you'll forgive for a moment humoring the unnecessary late-2010s "difference between therians and otherkin" definitions, I have theriotypes and somehow this feels like a different flavor of identity because it doesn't feel like animalistic. The way that I am an osprey, for example, is very animal, and I know I have the ability to describe internal self-perception that way because I have parts of my alterhumanity that don't feel animal, like Novakid or AI. I don't feel like I am an ant in the way an ant is an animal.

Instead it feels, and bear with me, A) sapient? Intelligent?, B) weirdly cute—like, cartoonish almost, and this is so obvious to me when I look at my own drawings and what types of art (not photos) gives me kintype vibes and C), bizarrely...

technological?

Like I'm a virtual ant lmao? Or a robot ant? I've always distanced myself more than necessary from the techkin community despite my kintype being an actual real-life type of computer because I've never felt kinship with androids and Robot Classic™ aesthetic which is a lot of what's going on in there but maybe I am a bit of a robot, just insect-shaped instead of humanoid.
