Being spam called by a local sushi restaurant after calling to complain about a bad experience, getting nowhere with that, then leaving a bad google review was not on my bingo card for this evening, yet here we are
#listen I saw my food sitting on the counter for a good 45 minutes#didn’t know it was mine until they brought it to me#was so mad that I just left then called back to complain#they wouldn’t refund (it’s sushi so it wasn’t any good at that point)#so I left a bad google review#they’ve called 6 times in the last 20 minutes#no I will not be answering.

This is such hater behavior of me but one of my favorite hater pastimes is reading bad reviews of popular books on goodreads. This is naturally very satisfying if it’s a book I was influenced to read and then hated, but it’s somehow even better when it’s a book I have never read and have no intention of reading, but based on popular discourse and vibes alone I have already sensed is a mess. Like please tell me more.

#hhhhHHHGHGHHHHHH#jay screams into the void#(deeply personal rant incoming feel free to ignore)#a friend of mine has just been undiagnosed with bpd which . lovely for them but it sure as fuck invites a Lot of questions#suddenly a great deal of previous shitty behaviour that was excused on the basis of bpd has a lot more to answer for#(obligatory I Know BPD Isn't An Excuse To Treat People Like Shit . im aware . i have bpd myself and i have v high standards re my behaviour)#(however allowances were made bc they were unmedicated & out of therapy through no fault of their own)#(and our whole group has enough experience with untreated mental illness to understand that it can make u a bitch sometimes)#but yeah no there have been a LOT of instances of b&w thinking + manipulation + unfair judgement + high emotion + snap reactions#and every situation Could be explained by untreated bpd and the bad times have never been prolonged or often enough to outweigh the good#but Hoo Boy if that wasn't bpd then what the FUCK was it#like either the new psychiatrist is wrong (possible but i seem to be the only one questioning it) or they're just Like That#and again . not enough to outweigh their numerous positive and loveable traits#but the whole group has been destabilised on a number of occasions due to their actions during a bad spell#and i'm really not sure Any Other Explanation is enough to justify that#ah well . this seems like the kind of thing that will eventually come up during a sleepover heart to heart#but rn i'm stuck in a bubble of MAJOR rsd & brainfuck abt it . which is unfortunate bc now is exactly the time i Don't need brainfuck#anyways ✨ goodnight tumblrinas i am . kind of hoping nobody read this bc i fear i sound like a bitch#i am genuinely happy for their undiagnosis it seems to have put many things into perspective for them & theyre v happy about it#i'm just . uncomfy w some aspects of it that i have only been halfway brave enough to discuss with them personally#That's One To Bring Up With My Therapist In A Few Weeks#Bit Of A Shame I'm No Longer In Therapy And Now Have Only 2 Quarterly Reviews Left Before I'm Discharged From The Service

Also I just have to say. Loan documents with 1/6th shekel interest are just as boring as today's .025% financing.
#I'm trying to check that all instances of Ea-nasir's name are covered in this book at least. The note cards are not here.#But they were recorded on Ur Online at least if I check each tablet ID individually. Which is rough. But it's okay.#However what's more annoying is like 20% of the notecards were just lost. So they grouped like-tablets together including Ea-Nasir#mentions and just said they were ~around the house. Which does not actually help me. However from the current data I think this works.#I feel really bad for the one person who asked about trading context and I haven't responded yet because this doesn't cover that.#And I really want to review a few papers about what we know of ships GOING to Dilmun. Their ships were huge! It was really cool.#I think we have a shipwreck in the gulf that kinda dittos the one off of Turkey where there were just tons of copper on these ships.#It's really cool. Thinking about ATLWCS again reminds me of when I was 13 and read this book for the first time and there was no fandom so to cope with the ending I made an au where Frederick, Werner and Marie-Laure were all friends living in the present day

Entitled customers are funny, imagine kicking up such a fuss with our managers that 2 mall security guards had to be called to come mediate all because you and your wife not only can't read but also can't see that our menu literally serves soft poached egg, not a boiled egg, in our Japanese rice bowls
Anyway read the menu properly y'all and ask questions if you're unsure, don't be a dick to hospitality workers especially over dumb shit
#this happened yesterday during boxing day#it was truly hilarious to me#this lady came to complain about our egg not being boiled fully#to which my managers were like 'yeah our menu only serves soft boiled it's shown and written very clearly on it'#but apparently this lady wasn't happy with that answer cause she left and then sent her husband back with the bowl to argue!!!!#and my managers were like nah we're gonna call security to mediate cause this guy legit just kept raising his voice#anyway in the time span of waiting for security to show up#this guy literally pulls his phone out to record a negative review of us which lmao alright#and then proceeds to tell customers looking at our menu to not order from us cause we've got bad food#they still ordered from us anyway with 1 customer saying to my coworker that they hoped he left soon cause he was making them uncomfortable#anyway security shows up and them + the guy + my managers talk for like 10+ minutes#with this guy apparently mentioning at one point that he wants us shut down#just to remind y'all if you're reading this that this is all over a soft boiled egg that is very clearly shown on the menu#and the whole thing ended with 1 of the security coming in to the shop to watch us remake the bowl without the egg#because apparently the guy was afraid we'd do something to his bowl#security looked done with this and apologised to us for this guy being so rude#also before anyone says anything both this guy and wife were fluent in English so it wasn't a matter of them not being able to read our men#and also again our bowls show a very obvious not hard boiled egg#anyway i hope they had an awful day afterwards for being such entitled dicks to us

#ok so mini rant session#i am doing a bit better today - little less distraught over getting fired from a job i thought i was doing pretty good at and i was trying#really hard and genuinely enjoying#and just more baffled because truly i had no warning and i was completely blindsided#i was in the middle of a 3 month trial and i would have a review at the end in which i would be offered a permanent position if it went well#and i thought i was making my way towards that! granted i was still making mistakes but genuinely not of such a great scale i thought it#called for my immediate dismissal#that being said i was still VERY MUCH IN TRAINING. i had only been there A MONTH AND A HALF learning COMPLETELY NEW SYSTEMS#and i was told that i had been there a few weeks already and that i wasn’t catching on quick enough. that there were some areas i was#understanding and others i just simply wasn’t#and i asked what areas specifically so that i could learn more and try harder#and they didn’t give me a specific answer.#ok and so. so. i have this insecurity.#that at first impression people will like me. that they may think i’m pretty or kind or funny or whatever#but then they spend time with me or get to know me and realize that that’s all bullshit.#that i’m actually not pretty and im mean and loud and selfish and lazy and rude and etc etc etc#MASSIVE fucking insecurity in that like that’s why i genuinely don’t have friends or a significant other#and that genuinely i’m just a Bad Person#and when i was fired? i was told ‘a persons true colours show after a few weeks’#so that’s MAJORLY fucking me up.#when i was hired i was boasted to about my boss’s hiring process and how she’s ’only been fooled twice’#and the morning before i was fired in a meeting my supervisor told everyone that i was doing quite well.#so yeah i truly had no fucking warning. at fucking all.#hurt and confused and angry and baffled and did i mention hurt#anyways if you’re still here i’m sorry i know this is not a good look for me

Also I got my essay exam back today. Full points!!! Which was a surprise bc my 4th essay was definitely lower quality than the other three (bc I rushed it), but still good enough to get full points!!!!
Makes me wonder what that other one I spied being a 1 was like 🤔🤔🤔 bro was NOT good at writing I guess.
#speculation nation#weird grading scale. each essay was rated 0 thru 3. 0 being Real Bad or just plain wrong.#1 being Okay. 2 being Good. and 3 being Excellent. according to what my professor explained.#and all the points for all 4 essays were totaled. so since i got 3s on all 4 i got 12/12 points.#but he also said it's not like percentage based for the grades. 3s earn As 2s earn Bs and 1s earn Cs. presumably.#so even if u got a 4/12 thats not failing. still not very good tho.#i realized when i was writing that it really has been a while since ive done a proper essay. im a techie not a literature student.#i do scientific reports so much more than fucking Essays.#i tried to dust off the old skills tho and i guess i did pretty good overall. tho i wonder. it feels like he was pretty lax in grading.#bc im being honest my last essay was Not Good in structure. i was rushing bigtime. i just wanted it done.#but i guess bc i answered all the questions and was generally good at diction (creative writing Does help with this)#it was still good enough to be a 3. which makes me So Curious how bad that person did to get a 1......#i only caught a peek when i was grabbing mine. couldnt look too in depth.#ALSO THO tuesday's presenter got a 7.6 As Opposed To my 8.6!!! professor gave them a 7 (as opposed to my 8)#which makes me feel a little better about how i did. (this scale out of 9 lol). bc like. i did better than them at least!!#felt a lil bad for today's presenter. she was clearly getting kind of frazzled. it rly is hard to present for an hour.#we write out critiques for every presentation. stuff we liked and stuff we didnt. unfortunately i had criticisms to give 😔#but i try to sandwich it with good things too. so it's not All bad things. i still feel bad critiquing them#but such is the review expectations. i try to at least be fair about it.#(to clarify. grades arent announced to the class. i just sit right up front near where he puts the papers and im Nosy lol)

OH MY GOD DID YOU ALSO NOT LIKE THE ATLAS COMPLEX
no i really REALLY did not djfjgjghfb i had many issues with it; some of them structural and others personal. it just didn’t do what i wanted it or even expected it to do. and reaching the end felt like “what was that?!?!”. when the only emotions a book evokes are frustration and annoyance there is something majorly wrong with it in my opinion. and don’t even get me started on how bored i was. that’s probably the biggest crime of them all.
how about you??? i would love to hear your thoughts!!
#my goodreads review is also vague but maybe includes a little more of my feelings fjghgh i wrote it pretty annoyed#tac was definitely olivie blake at her worst (for me).#it’s a culmination of her weakness as a writer. or at least her strengths do not get to shine.#and it’s so weird because i know she can write emotionally satisfying endings. she did it in other books.#and for ta6 series i didn’t expect a happy ending but one that has a payoff for the tensions and dynamics built.#and that’s not what the tac delivered in my opinion#there are some things here and there i enjoyed but as a whole experience it was quite bad. i suffered through it fr.#anyway djjjddjd thank you sm for the ask!!#answer

dude I'm so frustrated - people being annoyed and angry at ts's oversaturation don't bug me like that's understandable. I feel that way about a LOT of musicians and other types of media, and HOW. and I'll say it on main and surely step on the toes of people I like and care about! also she and her music *are* overexposed as hell, no doubt about it. but when an IRL friend uses the phrase "emotionally stunted suburban freaks" to describe fans, yeah that's actually upsetting like for THE love of christ come on
