Hey guys I saw a leaked script for frozen 3 and hands makes a return !!
Hans: literally just breathes Elsa: smirks and Murders him to death with ice powers, struts away sassily because she’s Idina Menzel Hands: will return in Frozen 4 and every short thereafter for this same joke
#Hey how the fuck did this copy into italics when I had the asterisks copied#since when does tumblr do that#Disney#frozen 3#frozen#disney frozen#I’m bored I guess because I know I’m opening to a bunch of hate#but nevertheless I am so goddamn tired of overdone jokes and#buttmonkey villains who are supposed to be threatening but are undermined in every appearance thereafter#‘it’s just a kids movie omg’ bro I know. Why don’t you want kids movies to be good#Anyway I’m annoyed by the Wish movie too but apparently that’s controversial to say#sorry but the animation in the trailer is PAINFUL literally it’s a headache trigger#Like I’m sorry I loved Spiderverse and puss in boots last wish#but I can’t even watch Nimona or the Spiderverse sequel rn#I Can’t even play tears of the kingdom. Had to quit because I got badly sick every time I played#Luckily this joke will be swallowed by tumblr because I used too many tags#but ugh I’m just tired of bad jokes#I’m tired of bad dialogue#I saw monsters Inc the other day and remembered what good funny dialogue was in a kids movie#natural interactions and believability and unique voices#voices as in tones and delivery#but also the voice actors yes#I know it’s because of the studios rushing this junk out for a quick buck#and the shit conditions the writers work under#but I’m just like… tired#If wish is any better than the ultra compressed YouTube trailers as they say#maybe I can watch it. And I will judge it in full then#otherwise rn it looks like another disenchanted or whatever they called the enchanted sequel

wish was not good. i went cuz the animation looked fresh and pretty in the trailers and frankly my hopes were reignited with encanto. but it wasn't good. go see the holdovers instead.
i feel so little about it i almost don't care to give details lmao but it was basically 90 minutes of winks and nudges to previous disney properties. particularly insulting was the final shot showing a mickey mouse firework as we are literally winked at. a whole kingdom of characters i know nothing about and am expected to root for. even the animation style, the whole reason i gave it a shot, felt bland and flat after a while, like boring environments, too clean, idk how to really explain it, and again I'm comparing it mainly to encanto with its sublime colors and variety. the villain was hot i guess, which i expect will be this website's top priority. his song was fine.
i guess the only redeeming thing i can say is that the main message of "one person having all the power is bad" is a good message for kids. but watching it as an adult, the dissonance between that and the ever present shadow of Disney saying "but WE'RE not bad :-) WE grant your wishes! ^^" was impossible to ignore.
this critic summed it up better than i ever could.

Where is Jinx going?
Tumblr media
Bilgewater is a strong contender, but don't discount Demacia.
Jinx/Lux is part of it. That's actually the oldest fan ship for Jinx and was the most popular for both of them in fanfic and fan art until Season Two dropped; the common claim that it's a fringe ship or 'only' in Star Guardian is inaccurate. It's been a part of League fandom for a long ass time. It started in 2014 in 'main Runeterra canon' only months after Jinx's launch and before either the Burning Bright video or Ekko existed. It was later boosted in popularity by the Wild Rift trailer, various promotional arts featuring the two together, and later by the Valoran Town animated series released in China. Why? Initially, just pairing the two poster girls of League together, probably, or the classic hero/lancer dynamic of the optimistic 'light' character with the edgy 'dark' character.
But since Lux's comic, the Mageseeker game and then Arcane there are more lore parallels between the two than ever; both are young women struggling with a society that hates them for something they didn't choose to be, both trusted an older mentor with revolutionary ideals who encouraged them to embrace their destructive powers and then betrayed them (Silco/Sylas), both accidentally unleashed their power and got people killed, both triggered a violent revolution, both have a complicated relationship with an older sibling (Vi/Garen). If they are romantic interests or just friends, Lux gets someone who will encourage her to embrace her magic and Jinx gets someone who won't judge her on her past and the potential for conflict and companionship and a very interesting, opposites-but-actually-mirrors dynamic is all there.
It's commonly dismissed by people ignorant of League's history and of the lore of both characters, but it DOES work. If you know, you know. 🦄
Outside of that, though, why Demacia? Doesn't seem like a place our crazy girl Jinx would want to go for any reason, ever, but the end of Arcane makes it more likely than even Bilgewater because at this stage Jinx is trying to cut her ties and move on from her old life. She wants to be:
FAR away from Noxus and Noxian influences (Demacia and Noxus are bitter enemies)
FAR from her "Jinx" identity and all the violence and chaos that stands for (if she wants to disappear and try to put it behind her and heal from her trauma, Demacia big, spacious, and quiet)
FAR away from her family and friends, so she can't be tempted to get involved in their lives and hurt them (as she sees it) again. (Demacia is waaaay over there, a lot farther than Bilgewater)
FAR AWAY from the Arcane that has, from the moment she picked up that first Hexcrystal, ruined her life and taken people she loves (Mylo, Claggor, Vander, Isha, and in a roundabout way, Vi) from her. (Demacia is a kingdom that despises magic and is full of magic-sucking stone made from magic sucking forests)
So I think it will entirely depend on the direction they want to take with Jinx from here. If they want her to continue to be a violent, chaotic crazy girl we know and love, they'll make her a mercenary pirate in Bilgewater, maybe tangle her up with Sarah Fortune's crew.
If they want her to try to turn her back on her "Jinx" identity and heal from her grief in peace and quiet, they'll take her to Demacia and she'll pop up unexpectedly, maybe as a tinkerer, or artisan, trying to reconnect with her Powder side.
This is where she could meet Lux (if they're going the Lightcannon route, which would make more people than you'd think very very happy) or otherwise get drawn out of her peaceful life and into the turmoils gripping Demacia, particularly as the Mage rebellion starts to break out. Particularly if Jinx ends up siding with the rebel mages, or siding with Lux either for or against Sylas's faction and/or the Mageseekers.
She has a bit of experience with being a rebel, she might end up using her experience with Hextech and the Arcane to give those rebels the edge, and "Jinx the reluctant pacifist being drawn back into her old chaotic ways to fight for a cause because deep down, she still longs for the thrills and the chaos and the noise" might be a really cool arc to take her on.
What do you think?

I honestly think that Dizzy's entrance to Guilty Gear Strive should be as much of A Moment for plural systems as Bridget's was for trans women. The character's not out yet, but every bit of promotional material for the character points in a very promising direction. So for people who don't go here, or who have only played Strive, allow me to tell you why a character trailer for a three-year-old game put me on the verge of tears.
Tumblr media
For some quick context, plurality in a person is essentially the state of having multiple entities in one's head. The most commonly known form of this comes from having dissociative identity disorder, formerly known as multiple personalities. But plenty within the plural community (including me) have a broader umbrella for the term. The main terminology you'll want to know for this is that a "system" is a group of entities within one body (I for example am part of the Fal'cie System), and "aspects" are entities that aren't quite separable from the host, because they're the manifestation of specific parts of them. For the record I am very aware of how buckwild this sounds to an outsider, and I frequently get existential about it. A lot of characters in anime and games are incidentally plural due to their layers of fantasy nonsense. Some examples of this in action are Yami and Yugi from Yu-Gi-Oh, Sora gaining Ventus's heart in Kingdom Hearts, and the explicit dissociative identity of the Storyteller System in Ace Attorney.
Now then! To sum up Dizzy's backstory real quick, Dizzy is a Gear, basically a living weapon, and the daughter of original antagonist Justice. Most of her character up until this point has been desperately trying to cover that and live among humans, to... mixed avail. In the series' story mode she manages to start a family with the human deuteragonist Ky Kiske, who loves her a lot despite formerly being one of the best Gear-slayers. Ky is such a wonderful character, because throughout the series we see him go from hating Gears to tolerating a few of them to having a kid with one and actually becoming a little bit Gear himself. But this essay isn't about Ky Kiske.
In actual gameplay, as in the 1v1 fighting game battles, the main thing stopping her from relative normalcy is her two wings, Necro and Undine. The reason I say this character is a plural dub is because these wings are actually aspects of Dizzy, Necro being her rage and Undine her compassion. A lot of Dizzy's attack animations in Guilty Gear XX (the one where I've played Dizzy a lot) actually have Necro doing violent things while Dizzy herself is either distracted or afraid. This continued in Guilty Gear Xrd, where her instant kill move (every character gets one) has Necro unleashing a fuckoff gamma ray while Dizzy begs him to stop. Worth noting also that gamma rays are one of the moves her mother Justice used. Dizzy and Necro have clearly not been getting along, and while it's fun as a fighting game character bit, there is a certain level of sadness to it.
But in Strive? Oh my god, she looks so happy now! So at peace with herself and with her system. Lemme just rattle stuff off right now.
-Dizzy's attack animations all put her in control. Necro and Undine do a lot of fighting still, but never without Dizzy's control. They are fighting in tandem.
-Dizzy's victory animation has her hold out two hands. Undine naturally puts her whole hand onto one, and Necro finally puts a single finger on the other with a smile.
-Their super move, Gamma Ray, starts out with Necro and Undine firing a beam, and Dizzy getting scared. But after glancing at them and realizing it's okay, she joins in on the beam attack.
-She has a new move now, Michael Sword (Pronounced Mik-hai-ull), a full-screen slash that Justice used to have, indicating that she's come to terms with her origins and wants to use them for good.
-God, her opening animation and taunt where she communes with the animals like a Disney princess. Her new beautiful design. Her new theme song! She has never been this happy in her life!
The thing is, right, I can imagine people saying that this character growth isn't remotely the same kind of moment as Bridget's, because Dizzy's whole thing is based in sci-fantasy that could never be real in the same way that like, dissociative identity is real. Plenty more would deny that plurality exists at all outside some deluded roleplayers. And, I mean, was series director Daisuke Ishiwatari really thinking about people like me when choosing to take the character this way? I don't know, honestly. But I do know that Dizzy's character arc is authentic, to me. If there's one thing Guilty Gear Strive's story is really good at, it's giving long-suffering characters some well-earned peace. And if this is how Strive Season 4 is starting, I can't wait to see what they do next.

With The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim coming out, I am interested to see the anime story of a section of Rohan's history. The animation looks good, and I have a personal fondness for hand-drawn animation as opposed to the more computer-generated animation commonly used today.
What I'm not enthused about is looking at some of the comments for the trailer complaining that the protagonist is female rather than her father King Helm Hammerhand being the protagonist. They give the usual dogwhistles of "wokeism" and mocking that it needed to be a female protagonist because Helm was disqualified for being a white male.
Did they miss Théoden's niece Eowyn in the main series, the Rohirric princess who defied her gender norms and fought in the Battle of Pelennor Fields, slaying the Witch-king of Angmar? She also does it while literally announcing that she is a woman, uttering the line "But no living man am I! You look upon a woman. Éowyn I am, Éomund's daughter" in response to him saying "No living man may hinder me."
Had it been done today, there would be complaints of Eowyn slaying the Witch-king instead of Théoden along with that line, saying she was there for diversity in a disparaging way or "woke" points. It boils down to a contempt for protagonists who aren't white, cis men. If you naturally assume a film or show is going to be bad, because the lead(s) is a woman or a POC you're just revealing your own attitudes towards race and gender.
Female protagonists are not unheard of in anime either, especially with Miyazuki's films like Nausicaa of the Wind Valley, Spirited Away or even films like Ghost in the Shell.
Personally, it's a fresh take that could be good. Going by the trailer, Hera is at the center of it all in not just being a princess of Rohan, but the request for her hand in marriage is what sets off the sequence of events that leads to war. She also personally knows the antagonist Wulf as a childhood friend who may have developed feelings for her, creating a more complicated relationship than simply Frodo and Sauron and adding another layer of drama. It also creates a more complicated villain with motivations that are understandable with regards to the loss of his father.
There's also the relationship Hera has with her father. She notes how he and Wulf's father spoke of her prospect of her marriage "as if I was not even in the room" or no one asks her opinion about her ostensible future. She also wants to defend her kingdom, but her royal father dismisses her. While he does care deeply for his daughter, Helm is still a man blinded by the prejudices of his patriarchal society.
Hera herself sounds like she could be an interesting character with her struggles in both against the gender restrictions, to defend her kingdom and in her personal relationships.
I guess we'll have to wait and see.
