There should be more slapstick in adventure movies aimed at our heroes. I need to see our protagonist getting full-on fucking decked with a chair. I want to see our sidekick and antagonist mutually smashing each other in the stomach and both of them having to take a minute to recover. The cut-price Gandalfs don't beat a motherfucker into unconsciousness with a stick like they used to. Clothesline a bitch.

Tiny Review: Deadpool & Wolverine 2024. Popcorn, brainless, nostalgic.

This makes 3 reviews so far this year, of purely franchise-driven media, solely relying on the name and nostalgia to drive sales, nothing story-worthy.

This seems to be the prevailing trend. Modern franchises that rely only on their predecessors’ name and success, not good stories, to gather an audience.
