totk really is one of those games that make me go "ok thanks for the characters, setting, and general plot, but ill take it from here <3" because the entire historical timeline had so much potential for interesting and nuanced story telling but they just went with the old zelda story formula and YES thats how theyve always done it but botw was such a reset in terms of gameplay that they couldve overhauled how they handle story in totk. but they didnt
#ramblings#all the races swearing fealty to rauru made me so uncomfortable#like yeahhh ganondorf evil or whatever but also. hey. why is the one leader fighting for the independence of his people. the evil villain#am i just not getting something here am i insane#my first thought when i heard about ganondorf returning was 'wow they could turn him into an actual character' AND THEN THEY DIDNT#its been half a year i feel like the honeymoon period is over. totk was kinda mid. im sorry#it was alright but it just. didnt grab me. at all#botw was interesting because it was new but totk made me yearn for the older zelda formula#though tbh. im always yearning for the older zelda formula. i grew up on oot & twilight princess#you hype up ganondorf so much you make him look like THAT (no im still not over this) and then you just. do what weve always done#this happened in twilight princess. it happened in oot. it happened in ww. hell if you count demise it happened in skyward sword#IT HAPPENE.D IN THE FUCKING HYRULD WARRIORS SPINOFF#'oooh noooo the great evil has returned' WEVE BEEN HERE EVERY TIME. DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH POTENTIAL#heres the gerudo having a man born and making him king as is their custom but they spend years in fear that he will be monstrous#here they are after all these iterations of ganondorf afraid to even have kids out of fear that SOMEONE will bring the new great evil#heres a child recently given the throne despite being barely more than a baby always treated with fear by everyone around him#ARE YOU SEEING MY VISION????#the curse is right there. do something with it. oh my god#i KNOW zelda games are just simple heros journeys but pleaseeee i need food#you dont have to make ganondorf nice just. do something with him im so tired of the evil guy caricature#i like guys who are plain evil but i like them more when they have some fucked up motivation beyond taking over the world

more lads dad!au because dad!zayne and dad!caleb beef would be hilarious. spinoff from this drabble
Tumblr media
The thing about heart surgeons was that they spent years in medical school, training relentlessly to save lives. But despite Zayne’s expertise, the one thing he couldn’t mend was his four-year-old daughter’s broken heart.
“Elsa, sweetheart, why are you crying?” he asked, crouching to her level as she hiccuped between sniffles.
“Because Archer doesn’t want to be married to me anymore,” Elsa sobbed, rubbing her fists against her red-rimmed eyes.
“He said he likes Cece.”
Oh. His heart.
His daughter was barely out of preschool, and she was already experiencing the crushing weight of betrayal. While he remained calm on the outside, Zayne was seething on the inside. How dare this boy break his daughter’s heart? Who did he think he was?
“Archer?”
“Caleb’s son,” you chimed in from the doorway, setting Elsa’s backpack down on its hook.
Oh. It all made sense now.
There were rumors that Caleb had been Mr. Popular back in high school, then again in college, and even at the academy. The kind of guy who could walk into a room and instantly become the center of attention, effortlessly drawing in mobs of adoring fangirls. His son, apparently, had inherited those same infuriatingly charming qualities.
Zayne clenched his jaw. No one, not even another four-year-old, was going to trample on his baby’s feelings and walk away unscathed. He turned back to Elsa, brushing a damp strand of hair from her cheek.
“Sweetheart, listen to me,” Zayne said gently, wiping away the last of Elsa’s tears with his thumb. “You don’t need to be married to Archer. You’re the most brilliant, kind, and incredible little girl in the whole world.”
Elsa sniffled. “Really?”
“Absolutely. Now, let me ask you something: does Archer know medical terminology?”
Elsa frowned, thinking hard. “No,” she admitted, shaking her head.
Zayne gasped dramatically. “See? That right there is a red flag, sweetheart. You’re already smarter than him! Do you know how many medical words you know?”
Elsa sniffled again, but a tiny smile started forming. “A lot.”
“That’s right! And what’s the big one you learned last week?”
“Myocardial infarction!”
Zayne’s eyes widened in exaggerated amazement. “That’s incredible! Now, tell me, does Archer know what a myocardial infarction is?”
Your daughter scrunched up her nose, thinking. Then she clapped her hands. “No!”
“Sweetheart, how could you possibly be married to someone who doesn’t even know what that is?”
Elsa giggled, wiping at her damp cheeks.
“What other big words do you know?” Zayne encouraged, leaning in.
She tapped a finger against her chin before her face lit up. “Hippocampus!”
“That’s my girl!” Zayne grinned, nodding approvingly. “Anything else?”
Elsa’s eyes gleamed with excitement. “Gluteus maximus!”
She giggled so hard at the meaning of gluteus maximus that she nearly toppled over, but Zayne caught her just in time, lifting her up and pressing a kiss to her forehead. Just minutes ago, she had been devastated over some preschool betrayal, and now she was giggling about medical jargon like the brilliant little girl she was.
It was far better than pining over a boy who didn’t even know what a myocardial infarction was.

“Hey, I saw Zayne today at drop-off, and he was squinting at me the whole time,” Caleb said, pulling Eden out of his high chair.
“Huh. Did he have his glasses on?” his wife asked, refilling Stella’s sippy cup.
Caleb furrowed his brow. “Now that I think about it…no, he didn’t. Oh! That makes so much sense! I waved at him, like, three times, but he just kept squinting. Poor guy was probably struggling to see without them.”

Latibule Spinoff: Kim Taehyung
Pairing: Actor!Kim Taehyung x Journalist!Reader
A/N: This came to me when I watched the chicken shop date between Amelia and Andrew...gurl I was smiling the whole episode hehehuhu. The chemistry was off the charts
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Latibule Universe Masterlist
Sticking to your script, you pressed on, and to your surprise, he did too. The banter flowed smoothly, and you found yourself navigating the questions with a surprising ease, the audience hanging on every word. You were almost at the end of the show, your cue to ask one last thing that had been requested by his fans.
“Now, Taehyung, as you know, the show conducted a survey online about what your fans want to know the most,” you began, your smile brightening as the moment approached. “And surprise, surprise! Most, if not all of them, wanted to know more about your love life. So, Taehyung, how is your love life?”
You flashed a knowing smile at the camera before turning back to him, eager for a response so you could wrap up the show and finally escape this whirlwind of situation. But instead of a quick answer, he leaned back, his signature tata smile beaming as he playfully looked at the audience and then back to you.
You could almost feel the anticipation ripple through the studio. The audience was captivated, their murmurs growing louder, eager for his reply.
“I never speak about my lovelife…” he began, drawing it our for effect. He knew how to modulate his voice enough to tease the audience. “But since this is a special episode, and you are a special dear host to me, I’ll only speak about this here.”
The audience erupted into cheers and laughter, completely enraptured by his charm. You could barely hide your annoyance, though a part of you couldn’t deny the magnetic energy he brought to the stage. This was the moment he thrived in, the very reason he was a star.
Your heart skipped a beat. It was like in the beginning, you knew a trainwreck was coming your way and it did keep you on your toes. You didn’t know when it was coming, nor when Taehyung would struck. But now, you could see how close the train was.
And it was coming for you.
“For the first time in my life, I genuinely like this person,” he shared, a hint of practiced shyness mingling with an undeniable sincerity. The way he said it sent a ripple of excitement through the crowd. “But she wouldn’t give me the time of day.”
The audience gasped collectively, a chorus of “aww” filling the studio as some dramatically clutched their hearts, enraptured by his words. If only they knew how persistent and annoyingly so he had been! He had railroaded your life, manipulating every situation, bending reality to fit his whims, and now he was
Out of the corner of your eye, you noticed the showrunner gesturing urgently for you to follow up, but you felt frozen, your mind racing. What he was saying left you dumbfounded, and the idea of stepping on a landmine—an active one—terrified you.
“B-But who would say no to Kim Taehyung?” you asked with a faux chuckle, attempting to defuse the tension. The audience nodded in agreement, their laughter mingling with the buzz of excitement.
But then, just as you thought you could shift gears and end the show gracefully, Taehyung leaned closer. His body turned toward you, that familiar smirk playing at the corners of his mouth. You felt a rush of heat flood your cheeks, knowing this was the moment you had been praying wouldn’t come.
“But Y/N, you said no to me,” he said, his voice low and teasing, yet carrying an edge that sent your heart racing.

'Bout It
Tumblr media
As promised, part two is here.
Just like last time, honorable mention to this post by @luli-lads I was reminded of it while writing one of the scenes. It's not exactly like it, but it's got the jist of it.
There might be a spinoff fic about Xav and Tanya's first time, written with the reader as Tanya, but it's a big maybe; it's part of one of the many drafts that I lost when my old cellphone broke, so take this with a grain of salt.
Tumblr media
Word count: 3890
Tags: Zayne x non-mc reader x Sylus, college au, gn!reader, there's no mc here, reader is addressed as she/her by general public but stays otherwise genderless (I forgot about that part while writing the scene), barely any angst in here, no beta reader we die like Grandma Josephine, pet names (sweetie, sweetheart, my love, darling), cursing, name calling (slut), kissing, sex, no genitalia mentioned, implied double penetration, happy ending, Xavier makes a cameo.
Tag yourselves in this, I'll go first; I'm Tanya near the end. Her ramble about Xavier was inspired by my stream of thoughts when it comes to him.
Tumblr media
Part 1
Part 2
You lean in to kiss him.
You didn't mean to, he just looked so hot using all those medical terms and speaking so confidently that you couldn't help it. You're in the library, to make matters worse, already leaning close to each other so you can whisper comfortably.
So yeah, you kissed him.
His lips were soft, sweet from the last treat he ate, and incredibly addictive.
You don't get to apologize because he pulls you back in for a second kiss. It's a bit awkward, so you take the lead by holding his chin and guiding his movements.
It takes a while for both of you to stop. You separate only to see his blush and go back to kissing him because of the cuteness aggression, and then he grows more confident and decides to lean back in to kiss you like he needs you. You finally break apart when both of you need air, and still, you can't stop from pecking his lips over and over.
You sigh through your nose, forehead resting against his with a hand you never remember moving at his nape, playing with the hairs at the back of his head. One of his hands comes up to caress your cheek before he kisses you again. It's the last one he gives because Sylus walks up to your table and sits across from you.
“Oh no, don't stop on my behalf, you two were clearly having fun,” He says when you separate, and the knowing smirk on his face makes you feel like your face lit up in flames.
“Oh, shut up.” you mutter before forcing yourself back into doing your assignment.
You keep sneaking glances at either of them. Sylus catches you a few times and grins in that infuriating way of his; Zayne only stares back, eyes dropping to your lips before coming back to your eyes.
You're the one that looks away first each time.
You don't talk about it, even though you know you should.
It becomes a little thing that happened.
. . . . .
You’re being hot and cold with them.
You can't even lie to yourself about it; you cancel some plans and show up to others, make up excuses that hold some truth but not all of it.
You're trying to distance yourself and failing horribly at it.
It became too much. The shared glances with Zayne and the lingering touches from Sylus. All the flirting disguised as compliments and teasing. It was a joke, none of it was serious, just like it always is when you flirt with your friends.
But then you kissed Zayne and crossed a line you didn't know you were barreling towards, almost kissed Sylus at a later date– someone walked in and interrupted right after he had leaned in and told you to stop him, and you had stayed quiet– and got snapped back into place after being plunged into a pit filled with cold water and realization
You wanted to kiss Sylus just as bad as you had wanted to kiss Zayne. Sought out their company with equal intensity and interest. Talked about Zayne with Sylus with the same fondness and exasperation you would talk about Sylus with when ranting to Zayne.
It wasn't just Zayne, like you had initially thought, it was also Sylus.
You had clung to Zayne in the same way a stray cat clings to their new owner– a decision made in a split second because the moment you had seen his eyes you had known, you felt it in your soul, that you were going to be his and he was going to be yours no matter what. But Sylus, oh, Sylus had walked in behind him like he already owned your heart and you hadn't even noticed nor cared to stop him.
You loved them. A lot more than you cared to admit.
. . . . .
Rumors start running around.
That they don't know who's dating who, that maybe all three of you are together, or that someone is getting cheated on. Either way, you're the only one getting dragged through the mud.
How dare she come between them? She's such a slut.
They're best friends, does she have no shame?
She's so greedy, is Zayne not enough for her?
She should be grateful for Sylus, does she have to go after Zayne too?
They're dating each other and she's trying to get in between, she should catch a hint and back off.
The whispers leave you more confused than hurt.
“Are you two dating?” The question goes around and around in your head until you can't keep it in and blurt it out the moment you find them.
They're at the usual table in the library– not the one you first saw Zayne on, the one Sylus had guided you towards after you had grown close– hidden amidst shelves, a somewhat cozy quiet corner that allowed some privacy, even if a bit impractical because of the distance.
Sylus and Zayne exchange a look as you take a seat. You leave your bag on the seat next to you, pulling out your things.
“What brought you to that conclusion?”
“I keep hearing rumors and well– I know it's not my business, I just– I couldn't stop thinking about it.”
There's a mischievous tilt on Sylus's lips as he answers, “No, sweetie, we're not dating,” he looks back down at his book and adds, voice dry, “Doctor Sexy here is apparently much too dense to notice my advances.”
You giggle as Zayne holds the bridge of his nose in exasperation, “Sylus, for the love of everything sweet–” He starts to say, only to get interrupted by Sylus snapping closed the book he was reading. Sylus carries on, undeterred, telling a story about how Zayne completely missed the point of one of his pick up lines and went on a tangent about the science behind it. Even goes as far as changing his posture to match Zayne’s and repeating the whole speech Zayne had given him while imitating his voice and speech patterns.
You snort and hide half of your face with your notebook, trying to laugh quietly while they continue bickering like a married couple.
“You look great together– you're even acting like a married couple right now.” you admit in a low voice, interrupting their little stare standoff, “You would make a great couple, you should totally date.” Both of them turn to you, but you're too concentrated on the book in front of you to catch their confusion or surprise.
You don't catch the way both of them falter. How Zayne goes beyond focused-quiet to thinking-quiet and Sylus's usually sharp, concentrated frown takes more of a duller, thoughtful edge.
They share a look.
Zayne is doubtful, Sylus is determined.
This is gonna take a while.
. . . . .
The rumors die down.
At least the worst parts of it, you still catch a few whispers here and there, but you're no longer being dragged through the mud.
Anyone who ever “whispered”– because let's be honest, they weren't really whispering, they wanted you to hear how they insulted you– while staring at you will not even look you in the eyes anymore.
You don't notice the way they're more careful around you, how they make way and keep quiet when you pass by.
You're too lost in your troubled head to take notice.
. . . . .
“You keep zoning out,” Tanya states, “what happened?” Her stance doesn't hold space for you to lie, so you sigh and start airing the thoughts out.
You're stressed–
“As always, it's your default state at this point.”
“Yes, but not in that way, more in the ‘I don't know what the fuck to do about the men I love'”
“‘Men’?” She parrots, you nod nervously, “Plural?” She checks again, “Oh, we need snacks and shit for this, hold on–” she scrambles through the dorm, grabbing a lone bag of chips and two water bottles. (Life of a college student, everyone; broke and making due with what you’ve got.)
She pulls you toward the couch so you can sit down and leaves, only to come back with blankets. She gives you yours, making you wrap yourself with it before doing the same and sitting down beside you.
“Okay, start talking.”
You go into detail; tell her everything from the beginning, add in the details you omitted before and things you forgot to tell her about.
She reacts, incapable of keeping her face blank and her thoughts to herself; gasps, smacks her hand to her mouth when you leave her speechless, ‘oh my god’s and ‘no, you/he didn't’s.
“Damn,” she says– unhelpful but relatable ‘cause damn indeed, what a peculiar mess you got yourself into– when you run out of breath and all your worries have finally run free from your mind.
“Do you have to choose?” she asks, and the emphasis on “have” makes you frown, “I mean– to me, it looks like you're all into each other, so maybe you could just tell them and talk about it. Who knows? Maybe they'd be into it.”
“But–” you scratch your arm, “don't you think I'm being, I don't know, greedy? Selfish?” you stare down at your hands, “A whore?”
“Everyone has to be a bit selfish to be happy, you know? And it's not like you're cheating if both of them were to agree–” she pauses and squints at you, “do you plan on cheating if they don't?”
You blanch, “No! Of course not!”
“Then you shouldn't worry about it,” she shrugs before popping a chip into her mouth, “go for it, get those dicks and have some fun, nasty, consensual sex.”
She laughs when you smack her arm, teases you some more before the conversation centers on her.
. . . . .
You’re being sandwiched by them.
Actually sandwiched. It's not a dream and you're not drunk.
Sylus is on one side, Zayne on the other. The latter currently leaving kisses over your neck and shoulder while the former is kissing you like he wants to syphon your soul out of your body through your mouth.
You can't do much besides cling to them, breathless and out of it as they have their way with you.
Their attention is overwhelming in a way you welcome. Compliments, encouragements, reassurances, it all turns you into mush in their dexterous hands.
You don't know who to call for as their hands roam your body. You moan and gasp and whimper as they litter kisses and marks over your body.
The pleasure is a lot and you're addicted.
“Please,” you say, but you don't know what you're asking for.
“Please what, my love?” Zayne whispers, and hearing that pet name from his lips is like seeing the pearly gates. You nearly roll your eyes when he nibbles your ear.
“I don't know,” you whine, pulling at them to get closer, “Just– please.”
Sylus chuckles, deep and rich and amused, “Need more of us, sweet thing?”
You nod, looking up to him through your eyelashes, “Yes.”
“So greedy,” Zayne teases, you can hear his smirk on his voice, feel it against your neck as he nuzzles the skin there.
“Don't worry, we got you.”
And oh boy, do they.
They work in tandem. If you thought the beginning was overwhelming, you were in for a treat.
They take turns undressing you and kissing the newly exposed skin. You get to cum in Sylus's mouth during that process, sitting on Zayne's lap with your legs kept open by him. Seeing them make out after re-lit the fire in your veins.
Then it's their fingers. First Zayne’s, then Sylus’s as they stretch you out for them. You come again, lying between them with your legs held open.
You're really close to begging when Zayne is finally inside you. Sylus’s fingers never leave you as you ride Zayne, working to keep stretching you until he finally relents and joins in.
The stretch leaves you trembling like a leaf in the wind, but nothing compares to them moving together inside you.
Internally, you know that you're ruined. Nothing else will measure up to this– to them, to their touch and their attention. Their love.
. . . . .
“You fucked them, didn't you?”
Tanya's voice comes from the speaker of your phone. A second into the video call, and she's already clocked it.
“How the fuck did you know?”
She raises a finger, “One: you're glowing, you can only glow in that type of way after an orgasm– or a good fuck, in your case.” she wiggles her eyebrows while smirking. Your face feels hot at her statement, but she pays no mind to your flustered state and carries on.
“Two: I don't recognize the background, that means you stayed at..”
“Zayne's” you fill in the gap.
“Zayne's instead of our dorm, wonderful. Three: you got a stupid smile on your face.” You splutter at that and she laughs, loud and unashamed.
“Four: you got hickeys on your neck–” You cover your throat, but it's already far too late for that.– “And five– speak for me again…”
“Uh… what do you want me to say?”
“Yeah, five: your voice sounds a bit rough.” She brings her phone closer to her face and smirks, “They made you scream, huh?”
“Get the fuck out my face.”
She giggles and pulls the phone away. You want to be mad at her, but that's your best friend right there. You stare at each other in silence before you start laughing and celebrating.
“Ohhh, look at you go, you little minx. Did you talk before or after? Please, tell me you talked.”
You nod before speaking, “Last night, actually.” You bite your lip and smile, “We're all dating now.”
“Let's fucking gooooo!” The screen goes blurry, you guess she's either shaking the phone or jumping. Or both.
“It's gonna be just us and we'll be taking it slow, figure things out with each other.” You speak again once you can see her clearly again; she's lying down in bed, phone propped on the mattress.
“Aaww, that's so sweeet,” she sighs and looks up at the heavens, “god, when will it be my turn? I've seen what you've done for others, why not for me?...”
You giggle at Tanya's antics and shift a little when Sylus comes into the room. He's decent, wearing some borrowed sweatpants from Zayne– scratch that, you don't think you could call that decent, he's not wearing boxers and there's a fucking out line of his dick. Not to mention the marks littered on his chest and neck, there's also a few scratches you don't remember leaving, but oh well.
His steps are quiet as he approaches you, crawling on the bed until he reaches you.
“Is that Tanya?” The question comes in a low whisper. You nod with a soft smile, you can still hear her monologuing about romance and luck, but you're more focused on the man in front of you to properly listen to her. He settles between your legs, lying down to rest his head on your stomach. You can't help but combing your fingers through his hair.
“... Am I asking for too much? It's literally just one guy.” You tune back into her rambling after Sylus kisses your stomach and huff out a laugh once it clicks.
“Still no progress with Xavier?”
She groans, “Dude, you don't get it. He's so fucking–” her hands grip the sheets like they're a life line and you nod solemnly.
“Of course.”
“Like, his eyes, oh my god, his eyes. How is it that a mere shade of blue has rendered me so fucking useless? I'm smarter than this, yet that man turns me into a fucking buffoon with just one look!”
Oh, that intense. She only brings out the big words and elegant manner of speech when rambling about something she feels passionate about. A habit of hers you've always found adorable and funny.
“There's that thing he does where he looks surprised and his eyes get wider, it's the cutest fucking thing I've ever seen in my life; his puppy eyes would be killer if he ever chose to use them on me. Honestly, I'd give him my soul, I am not even joking...”
You don't judge her. The shade of red you would do anything for is currently in your arms, looking like a pleased cat as you play with his hair, and your shade of hazel…
“... I don't know how he does it, like, how can he be so adorable and hot at the same time?...”
“Where's Zayne?” You ask in a whisper, tilting your phone slightly so you can see him while still being on the frame.
“Went out to get some desserts and food, told him he could just order in, but there's a specific pastry he wanted and they don't do deliveries this far out.”
You can guess which one it is, you're the one that introduced that place to him.
“...Oh! And his hair, dude, you gotta see his hair. It's so fucking fluffy!...” You smile at Tanya as she rambles. It's the liveliest you've seen her in weeks, you really hope it all works out.
“And you decided to stay behind.”
“Didn’t want you to wake up alone and confused when no one was home.”
Your smile grows bigger at that and you lean to kiss his forehead.
“My sweet baby.”
The soft moment gets ruined when Tanya stops rambling about Xavier.
“... Sylus is there with you, isn't he?” you yelp at her accuracy and how much louder her voice sounds. You look back at the device to see only her forehead and top of her hair on the screen; as if getting closer to the phone might let her look into the room.
You laugh, parts embarrassed and parts amused. Sylus lifts up his head and you tilt your phone in his direction to make it easier for him.
“Tanya.” he says, in lieu of a getting.
“Sylus.” she answers, in the same tone and everything, “I'll have you know that if either of you cross her, I know how to dispose of a body without leaving evidence behind.”
Sylus laughs. Not mockingly or nervously, but amused, “Noted. But you won't have to worry about that, we plan on absolutely spoiling her.”
There are hearts in his eyes when he looks at you, a soft smile grazing his features and the red in them gleaming like rubies. You wonder if he's always looked at you like this. You wonder how you missed it all this time.
Tanya gags from behind the screen, “Okay, that's enough of that, I'll leave you to it. Have fun! Don't do anything I wouldn't do!”
“But–” You don't get to say anything because she hangs up. You look at Sylus, a little lost, “But there's a lot of things she would do, how am I supposed to decide?”
He chuckles and your phone gets forgotten on the bed as he rises up to tower above you, “Want some help?” he leans closer, his lips a hair away from yours, “Yes? No? Maybe so?”
By the time Zayne comes back home, Sylus is thrusting deep into you while you add onto the scratches on his back. He joins in on the fun and you and Sylus get to torture him a little bit before it's time to eat.
. . . . .
Neither Zayne or Sylus care about hiding their affection towards you, or each other.
They kiss, hold your hand, pull you close.
They don't hold back in public at all, now that the relationship is officially established.
It takes you a while to get used to that new change.
“Why am I not surprised?” Tanya asks when you reveal to her that they had been together before you met them.
You hadn't been surprised to learn they were friends with benefits before you came into the picture, right on their way to being lovers right as they got to know you. They had decided to wait for you to make anything official, because both of them knew the moment they met you.
“Yeah, no, me neither. Had you been there with me, you would've been like ‘oh, they're fuckin’, for sure’” she hums and drinks from her smoothie.
“Look at you, having your destined love and everything, I'm proud of you.”
She reaches over for your hand, squeezing before patting it and sighing.
“You lucky little fucker.” She mutters. The sudden switch up startles a laugh out of you.
. . . . .
dude
(Media attached)
im gonna jump this motherfuckers bones
how fucking dare he look so hot
wish me luck
It's a picture of Xavier. He's wearing form fitting clothes in dark colors that makes his grey hair pop more. The angle is odd, like Tanya is hiding behind something while he looks somewhere out of frame.
Godspeed, soldier 🫡
“What's so funny, my love?”
You look up at Zayne and smile. You don't think you'll ever get used to him calling you like that, no matter how many months pass.
“Tanya's out on a date with Xav, she just sent a picture of him with the caption ‘I'm gonna jump this motherfucker’s bones’”
Zayne raises a questioning eyebrow at the choice of words and you giggle while leaning close to him.
“I see she finally made a move.” Is what he settles for saying, putting a hand on your back as you walk through the restaurant, following the waitress towards your table.
“Yes and no.” You grin, in on a secret he doesn't know, “Remember that downpour that happened about two weeks ago?” He hums in affirmation and pulls back your chair to help you take a seat, ever the gentleman when it comes to you, “Well, they might've gone back to his apartment…” you pause and stare at him as he takes the seat across from you. You see the moment it clicks for him, a simple, small twitch of an eyebrow and a knowing, barely there smirk.
“They didn't.”
You nod, your lips falling into a thin line, “They, in fact, did. Right on the couch too.”
“And then?” Comes Sylus's voice from behind you. You didn't even notice he arrived.
“Sylus!” you scold in a whisper-yell, clutching your chest to contain your leaping heart. He chuckles and leans to kiss your forehead.
“Sorry, darling, I didn't mean to startle you.” He takes advantage of his position to give Zayne a quick peck before sitting down. The four seat table allows him to sit between the both of you.
“You said you would be late.”
“Managed to get out early.” You know what that phrase means, but you hold back from scolding him; nothing you say will change his ways. You share a look with Zayne and shake your head.
“As I was saying…”
You continue talking about Tanya and her adventures until it's time to order, and then the conversation goes through other topics as the sun sets and the night goes by.
It's like everything and nothing changed at all.
The banter is still there, the jokes, the teasing, the flirting. But now, there's nothing holding you back from reaching for them and holding their hand or kissing them. Nothing holding you back from being bolder with your touches and words.
It's liberating.

Dark Lord I mentioned the Horse Stan spinoff of Princess Stan but now I keep thinking about it.
They grow up knowing a tish more about magic than non-magical species. Ford does the exact same thing and gets turned into a dragon. Stan gets like. A cloak that lets him take a human shape. But he takes it off at night so it can recharge. Fird finds this human guy who kinda looks like him, and sounds like his brother. But clearly this isn't Stan, Stan's a horse.
He kidnaps his look-alike anyway.
OR. Stan gets cursed to be a human. He and Ford can talk but he still doesn't believe the dragon is Ford and Ford is unsure if this guy could actually be his brother. Maybe this is an illusion made by Bill. I'm just imagining something like "if you're Ford why are you a dragon?" "And if you're Stan why are you a man?"
Fiddleford is suffering
Horse Stan is consuming my life fr fr.
Stan gets cursed to be a human and hates it actually? Hands are great but bipedal? Needing money? Clothes? The hands are the only reason he hasn't gone crazy, and has instead gone made with hand power, becoming such a nuisance and menace he gets driven into the dragon infested North. Ford finds this clone of him? Evil? Trick? Its sounds like his Stan but his stan is a horse, so who is this guy?
Immediate argument and kidnapping by said dragon, who's not obsessed with him but def thinks he's evil/ a threat and needs to be kept an eye on. Both of them can talk to each other but neither believes either is who they say they are, Stan for the same reasons and Ford because why would someone curse a horse into being a person? And also its too convenient. Too suspicious. Ford doesn't trust this guy, and thus Stan gets way more aggressive manhandling around here.
Stan's also way more interested in the curse breaking becaue he would love to go back to being a horse. Sure it was awful and he was barely treated like a person but the stress of being human shaped is actively killing him. Everyone yells at him when he walks around naked, his puny legs don't let him run around like he used to, and the longer he looks like this the more the dragon who is not! Ford seems to get mad at him, like its Stan's fault he looks like this.
To everyone else its super clear they're who they say they are. No human acts like a horse trapped in a mans body as convincingly as Stan, and they saw Ford get turned into a dragon. Stan eventually gets his horse body and immediately complains about not having hands again.
Alternatively with the cloak all i can see is Stan freaking out after getting snatched while horse shaped 100% more convinced this giant lizard is gonna eat him. He took his cloak off for a second or deactivated its enchantment and got snatched small animal by an eagle style and he is Flipping Out. Doesn't help that his hooves have a way harder time walking on coins.
Added humor if at no point did Ford ever mention his brother was horse shaped, so the rest of the castle is squinting at this horse and trying to determine if Fords lost it. Ford does a massive remodel of his hoard to make it more horse accessible, and it barely makes Stan feel better.
There is a Horse Loose in the castle now, and it would like not to be.

Jensen answering the question about whether the song watching over me is about Cas. The man stammered and stuttered his way through the answer. It was like pulling damn teeth to get him to say the vague little he said. "Lyrics had double meaning" and "not all but some lyrics were inspired by *that story*". Instead of saying with his chest "Yes. It is!"
It's almost like he didn't want to admit it, but he needs the fandom to show up for his new show Countdown and tune in to his The Boys spinoff, so he gives a little scrap that really isn't anything at all. "not all but some lyrics were inspired by *that* story".🙃 And now fans are all over social media screaming"JENSEN ADMITTED WATCHING OVER ME IS ABOUT DESTIEL!!! HE SAID DESTIEL! HE IS KING HELLER! and will happily tune in to anything he does to support their king Heller.
The way again, Jensen gets credited for what Misha said about gay Castiel and his confession to Dean being "love love" all cause he sat next to Misha and didn't look repulsed. Although Jensen did NOT talk about destiel nor mentioned Dean's feelings for Cas or bi Dean. Again ... "Jensen didn't say anything about the topic"
But I guess it's better then his homophobia towards destiel and bi Dean pre 2020. When mans was on stage with Misha saying "I didn't play Dean like that" or on stage admitting he wanted the lines "l love you" from the tomb scene in season 8 to be chnged to "i need you" cause it was too gay. He made fun of the scene of Dean giving Cas back the trench in season 7 cause it was too girly (i.e. too gay). And my fave when a bi fan got boo'd and Jensen was like "seriously? The first question??!" cause the fan said being bi she related to Dean. The phobia with him was so damn bad that y'all will take the bare minimum scraps that he says now and celebrate. Now I see why y'all want jenmish panels, that way y'all can use Misha and everything HE says about destiel and queerness regarding HIS character Cas, and say Jensen said it also. Jensen gets Heller king credit by proximity. I admit he has gotten better. But slightly. I'll actually tip my hat to him when he says destiel and bi Dean with his chest.

I started reading ACOTAR in December last year so I’m very new. I noticed quite a few signs of elriel while reading the series but stupidly, I was waiting for Gwyn’s introduction because I saw so many people shipping her with Azriel and saying they’re endgame. I thought that at some point somehow elriel will end up like moriel where it doesn’t pan out and Gwyn becomes the main girl for Azriel. Thus I tried to not become invested in any of Elain and Azriel’s moments for fear of my heart breaking because they don’t work out. But that was hard as I really enjoyed anything that involved both of them. I especially loved Feyre shipping them because I internally wholeheartedly agreed with her lmao.
I also lost interest in elucien real fast as there was absolutely nothing there lol. Besides Elain’s obvious disinterest in him, I also believe even Lucien isn’t that crazy about Elain. I feel like he feels obligated to take interest in her because of the mating bond and that’s it. He’s not interested in Elain, he’s interested in a mate.
Fast forward to ACOSF (looooong after ACOMAF where already I felt like I sensed something between them after their first meeting, eg. Elain wearing a cobalt blue dress like Azriel’s siphons when they met, her looking to him to see if the dinner discussion is going well, enjoying chatting with him during the dinner despite being scared of fae and getting him to open up a bit more, SJM focusing separately on Feysand, Nessian, and Elriel respectively during the dinner scene. I could go on) and I was wondering how SJM is going to build up gwynriel in (1) book into something worth being invested in and have me letting go of (3) books of elriel build up.
Meanwhile Gwyn only gets introduced a ways into the book and Azriel barely has any notable interactions with her that indicate a future romance. Afterwards, I remember being like “why on earth is this fandom so sure they are/will be canon?” I got a hold of the BC and it literally just confirmed the obvious. Elriel is the next couple.
Imagine my shock when I see all the gwynriel blogs lecturing elriels on this and that (with the most ridiculous misinformation I’ve ever seen) and how elriels are delusional, etc.
It just bothers me that they essentially trick (whether knowingly or unknowingly) new readers into believing gwynriel is endgame, and then the new ones don’t always realize it’s nonsense so the fandom just keeps being flooded with new gwynriel shippers. While I support it as a crack ship, I’m entirely against someone trying to tell me they will be canon. Especially when these people are usually anti IC and Elain haters. I’m not taking them seriously.
Anyway my gut was always telling me I shouldn’t ignore elriel. I went back and reread every single mention/foreshadowing of elriel in the books and allowed myself to just absolutely fall in love with them. And I don’t regret it one bit
Hey anon 🫶
I read the acotar series before acosf came out and it was so obvious just by that series alone, Nessian and elriel were going to be a thing - so I went into acosf unsuprised when elriel started having an attraction towards each other and we got more of their buildup for their story. Gwynriel didnt even occur to me? I liked Gwyn but there was 0 memories interactions she had with Az that made me stop and think “ooh there is something there” I finished acosf and left the book thinking elriel was next. Got onto tiktok and kept seeing gwynriel everywhere in the comments of acotar videos so at first - I thought they were some type of inside joke or acota4 cult…I was shocked to find out people were shipping Gwyn and Az. Nothing in acosf ever alluded to them and I didnt believe an author like Mass would introduce Azriels LI so late into the series, that too a spinoff. I kept seeing gwynriels mention the Azriel bonus which I had 0 idea existed/ out of pure pettiness I didnt read the bonus. My stance was, I shouldn’t need a bonus to understand gwynriel or need it to know they’re the next couple. I should have gotten that from acosf alone and let me tell you - so many Gwynriels struggled with justifying their ship and proving its endgame when they can’t use the bonus which tells you enough.
Elriel was just naturally developed. Everything about them is complimentary and they just make sense together/ I loved Feyre for clocking onto elriel straight away and I loved reading every single one of their scenes and how much significance Mass places around it. It’s like she just can’t help herself from writing about elriel poetically, lmfao. Yet when Elucien were revealed to be mates, I was taken back but intrigued and already digging the idea of them. The roguish male paired w the polite lady? Sign me up for that dynamic any day yet when it came to actually reading about them / they felt so stale and awkward. Like mixing two different people together and its just not working. Every elucien scene was hard to read yet every elriel scene was flawless. They just matched each other and reading about them together just made sense. I wS so happy when Feyre questioned why elriel weren’t mates bcs it meant Sjm was planning on doing something w that storyline which kept me even more engaged w elriel. Come to acosf - and all thats changed is elrield attraction is confirmed and Az is basically spending the whole book pining after Elain. At no point does Mass break elriel apart.
Gwynriels know there is nothing romantic or even significant about any Gwyn x Az scenes hence why they have to downplay every elriel scene (which they use for their HCs/fics) and exaggerate what little Gwyn and Az scenes there are. Most of their ship is 55% talking badly about elriel to any poor sucker who would listen, 12% fanfics and HCs which is basically copy past of canon elriel scenes, 5% theories that are basically elriel theories that they’ve copied and 28% of gwynriel fanarts to entice people on Gwynriel.
It’s hilarious how they call Elriels delusional meanwhile they’re thinking Sjm would have Az ready to beg on his knees for Elain then get w Gwyn. Thank God thats not her type of love stories. It cracks me up at how disappointed newcomers who have heard about gwynriel are when they realise what little scenes gwyn and az have especially compared to elriel scenes. I think most jumped onto the bandwagon of gwynriel bcs they hated Elain and this way, their precious Az can be with someone they deem “better” then meek, boring Elain.
There is a reason Sjm had Feyre question why elriel aren’t mates. Had Az know what was amiss w elain instead of her mate who stood there uselessly. A reason why she had Elain call Azriels scars beautiful and had Elain be the first to hold TT aside from Az. A reason why Az went to risk his life for Elain whilst her mate was gallivanting trying to help another woman, I can go on but you get the gist. These moments weren’t used as filler scenes. They’re important to Az and Elain as characters separately and together as a couple. No author would spend that many books & important scenes to build a couple only to have them breakup and end w others.
I also dont regret falling in love with elriel 🌸🦇

IDW's Fang the Hunter miniseries! All four issues are out now! I don't have as much to say about it as I did with the Knuckles show, but I do have some thoughts.
So! This is a pretty fun miniseries. I liked it.
It's fun to see Ian get to write a four-issue arc starring the Hooligans, his precious boys, with a B-plot showing Sonic and Tails' perspective on this little adventure. As always, Ian captures the characters' voices well. In particular, I really liked Bean in this, who despite being a slapstick screwball is actually a pretty perceptive guy. He often acts as sort of a voice of reason for Fang, seeing right through his sweet talking and pointing out how badly all of their schemes go but sticking around nonetheless just for funsies. And the art (illustrated this time by Mauro Fonseca for the first issue and Thomas Rothlisberger for the rest) is as good as we've come to expect from IDW's Classic Sonic output. Overall, this is a fun little romp that captures the vibes of the Classic era very well.
Tumblr media
...But...
Well, as I've said before with the Amy and Tails anniversary specials, I feel like we're kind of seeing diminishing returns with these Classic spinoffs. They're fun, sure, and very nice to look at, but their writing always leave me wanting more.
A big part of this is just that there's just less to work with compared to the Modern universe. The Classic cast is much smaller, and within that cast there are a bunch of characters currently going unused, some of which are currently off-limits. Aside from the appearance of the Witchcarters in Tails' special, we've pretty much just stuck with the cast of Sonic Mania and the Hooligans, as established in the first special. No Chaotix, no Battle Bird Armada, barely any Honey. (Classic Vector was able to get a tiny cameo in the Amy special only because he was so obscured that it gave the IDW team plausible deniability to say it was actually a different character if Sega complained.) It's a very small box, and Ian's recent Classic comics haven't particularly expanded the boundaries of that box. They're just excuses to play the hits for old times' sake. And that was a lot of fun the first time around, but the novelty is starting to wear off for me.
I will admit, sure, the tighter focus on a specific set of characters from the games is a big part of the appeal of these Classic comics. They're simpler. They're nostalgic. They're shining the spotlight on characters that can't be used in the main series. They're the slavishly faithful old school Sonic comics that we could never get in the '90s, because the comics we did get diverged into their own continuities with tons of new characters. I get all that.
But the thing is, the Sonic comics have always added all those new characters because you can just do so much more with them. The game cast is great! But they're corporate mascots Sega keeps on a tight leash. You can do so much with a character like Sally or Surge that you could never do with any of the game characters, and by pushing into new territory with these new characters you can also bring out interesting new sides of the game cast. Maybe Sonic himself can't have some crazy complex character arc, but you can see how he'll respond to the things going on with these other characters, and how these other characters' arcs are informed by their relationships with Sonic.
So I look at the Fang miniseries, and I'm like. This was pretty fun. But by the end, what was the point of the story? What did we learn about the Hooligans as characters that we didn't already know? Is the point just to depict an adventure where things go off the rails a little and Bean and Bark end up a little miffed, explaining why they weren't with Fang in Superstars? There's potential for an arc there about the dissolution of the group, but it really does come off more as the type of spat these three probably get into all the time before coming back together for the next job. It's neither super dramatic nor super funny, feeling more like it ends on a fairly matter-of-fact note where Fang's like "welp, time to go do the events of Sonic Superstars" at the end, not particularly plussed by anything that happened in this arc. What we're left with is four issues of the Hooligans encountering recognizable characters and visiting recognizable locations from the Classic games, with little that really feels new or fresh here.
Ironically, the most interesting story element to me here (aside from Bean's characterization) is its tie to the main comics, something previous specials couldn't do since Sega had yet to reunify the Classic and Modern timelines. The plot of this comic revolves around Fang following the myth of the "eighth Chaos Emerald," riffing on both old playground rumors and Sonic the Fighters. What they actually end up finding isn't an extra Emerald, but rather the Warp Topaz that would eventually end up in Starline's possession in the Modern era, having apparently been found by the Hard-Boiled Heavies in the cave seen in the 900th Adventure special.
Tumblr media
That's kinda neat, and the abilities of the Warp Topaz are used in fun ways. But this isn't exactly something to write home about for people who aren't lore nerds like me. There isn't a particularly meaningful connection between Fang and Starline's arcs here due to the presence of the Warp Topaz, it's just a thing for the wiki. Again, Ian's in his connect the dots mode a little more than I'd like here.
(...So wait, if Starline didn't find the Warp Topaz himself, did he track down the cave where the Heavies found it to leave that "greatness began here" graffiti? Eh, I guess that sounds like something he'd do. He's known for nothing if not his obsessiveness.)
So, again. This was a pretty good miniseries. This all makes it sound like I hated it, but I did like it overall. I particularly liked seeing the Hooligans fight the Hard-Boiled Heavies. But it leaves me feeling less fulfilled than something like Scrapnik Island or Tangle & Whisper or Imposter Syndrome. I get that, by the very definition of the word, Classic Sonic is always going to remain trapped in amber to some extent. This isn't the version of the franchise that's supposed to grow and change. That's what Modern Sonic does. Classic Sonic will always be trapped in the early '90s. I'm not asking for them to add a dozen new characters with complex dramatic arcs to the Classic comics, since that's not what Classic Sonic is about. But I think the other Classic Sonic stories not written by Ian - i.e. the driving school story by the McElroys and the two stories about Amy by Gale Galligan - show that you can tell fresh new Classic Sonic stories that aren't just about remixing the hits from the games.
If we're going to continue getting Classic Sonic comics from Ian (and I hope we do!), then I just hope he's able to find a better balance between familiar and new ideas, like he and Evan do so consistently with their Modern Sonic output.

I just want to reflect how much the Loki show ruined Loki as a character for me and how much disheartened I was with it.
I had always wanted a spinoff on him, which explored him more. And the Loki show did anything but that.
Do you guys remember how Loki was in Infinity War for like 5 minutes, yet Tom Hiddleston was at almost every media interaction the cast had? The same thing happened in the show as well. They used him to market the show, then sidelined him in his own show. I think that was unacceptable, because they used Loki as a bait to promote a character that I held no emotions for.
Sylvie.
The argument that one does not like Sylvie because they “hate a strong female character/a character with complex arcs” is so pathetic. I don’t think I would’ve liked Sylvie even if she had the most elaborate arc in the MCU (which she doesn’t) because it just wasn’t meant to be about her.
I wanted to see Loki’s story, his journey, and if you take this moment to interject with the statement that “she’s Loki too, just different”, then I say that I wanted to see our Loki, the one who was broken when he found out that he was the monster parents told their children about at night, the one who had plethora of iconic dialogues while fighting the avengers, who was killed only for us to realize that he wasn’t.
Everytime I said that we needed a Loki spinoff before it was announced was not because I wanted new characters, it was because I wanted to see more of the character that was already there, very much beloved by the fans. I wanted them to explore his character in a deeper sense and maybe dip a little into mythology as well.
I think Loki was one of those characters that neither needed a love interest nor was ready for one. I don’t ship him with either Sylvie or Mobius, because it feels like neither of them genuinely like Loki for who he is.
Loki had far more compelling things they could have explored like his jotun heritage, his trauma from the time with Thanos and his magic that is the only memory he has of Frigga instead of his love life.
The whole show felt like it was written by someone who wasn’t the least bit interested in Loki and barely looked into him before creating his female counterpart.
It feels like a disrespect for the fans who were connected to Loki on an emotional level.
Why am I saying this now, after like 2 years since the show came out?
I don’t know, after hearing the news about season 2 releasing in October, I just feel so upset. Tired. I hate this show much because it made Loki so irrelevant to me. A sidepiece in his own show. He went around in ugly costumes and all the regal vibes I had from him just disappeared.
I still remember a time when Loki was on the top of my favorite characters, and I loved him so much. I still do, but I’m not sure if I’ll watch the 2nd season and my 13 y/o self would hate me for this.
I’ve gotten detached from his character and I hate myself for it because Loki was someone whom I adored more than anything else in the fandom world.
Loki is that one character who is loved by the fanon but absolutely despised by the canon.

I am sorry but does the director like have a bias for frontman/frontman's actor or something?
Because why did Gi Hun :
a) hardly have any dialogues at all
b) got reduced to a glorified nanny
c) didn't even do anything to try to stop the games
d) got treated as a fucking plot device to give bare minimum development to Inho???
Whereas Inho gets to thrive and gets away with everything??? No consequences??? And possibly is gonna be in the stupid spin off too??? Why????
Jesus Christ on a positive note atleast my baby Ljj is free from this shit and doesn't have to be involved in this anymore
to be fair, lbh was given pratically nothing this season. he just spent time with the vips with that mask on or he was making teary eyes at gihun, which i def dont mind
i do think inho's ending was bc of the usamerican spinoff unfortunately. i dont know if it was hdh's original plan and if netflix kinda forced his hand so they could introduce the spinoff.
i understand being upset, anon, i am too but look at it likes it - gihun didn't have much dialogue but every time the camera was on jj he expressed gihun's feelings so well we didn't really need a line. we know what gihun felt during the entire season.
the nanny thing i kinda agree 😭 loved seeing gihun with a baby but i think they made it like that bc hdh put a lot of emphasis on the baby representing humanity. so gihun was actually cradling humanity in his arms. him taking care of an innocent soul after her mother died is very compassionate of him and just shows gihun's best qualities!
about him not doing anything to stop the games... gihun did help everyone when he could, unless they got in the way of the baby's safety, in which case he wasn't above killing them. and during the voting he "abstained", so he couldn't do much. also, he was catatonic with grief and guilty for like half the season. the other half he was taking care of the baby and he was also hoping junho would find him (which didn't happen lmao)
i was also upset over gihun's death being used for inho's development but then i read what @garlandgerard said in the replies in one of my posts, and they point out that gihun's sacrifice means that inho lost. do i wish gihun hadn't died to prove a point? yes. did he still kinda die to develop inho's character slightly? yeahhh. but i'm more comforable with it bc inho lost in the end and gihun won.

The Devil In Your Eyes
In this modern AU, Eren, a magnetic political science major, and Aurora, a gentle pharmacy student, find each other in a world untouched by war. Their soulmate spark ignites at a chaotic college dinner, a fleeting moment that feels like destiny where their instant connection proves they’re meant to be, no matter the timeline, in a tale as tender as it is electric.
Spinoff Sequel to The Devil's Bride (Eren x OC)
Tumblr media
Chapter Two: Sparks
One Year Earlier…
The Uber hummed along the city streets, its tires whispering against the asphalt as the neon glow of downtown blurred past the windows. Inside, Aurora fidgeted with the hem of her dress, a soft lavender number that hugged her figure without revealing too much. The neckline was modest, dipping just enough to hint at her curves, and the skirt flared slightly at her hips, ending mid-calf.
Her platinum blonde hair was swept into an elegant updo, a few loose strands curling against her neck, and her ice-blue eyes darted nervously to the passing lights outside. She’d chosen simple silver hoop earrings and a delicate bracelet, her makeup minimal—a touch of mascara, a hint of blush, and a glossy pink lip. It was her first big outing since starting college, and the thought of meeting Historia’s entire friend group at Sasha’s birthday dinner made her stomach twist.
Historia, perched beside her in the backseat, was a vision of effortless confidence. Her golden hair fell in loose waves, her sparkly crop top catching the streetlights as she scrolled through her phone. She was mid-text, her thumbs flying across the screen, a mischievous smile tugging at her lips. “Okay, Aurora, you’re gonna love my friends,” she said, not looking up. “They’re loud, they’re chaotic, but they’re the best. And,” she added, her voice dropping conspiratorially, “there’s a certain someone you have to meet.”
Aurora’s cheeks flushed, her fingers tightening on her dress. “Historia, I told you, I’m not looking for a boyfriend right now,” she said, her voice soft but firm. “I just want to survive this dinner and maybe make a friend or two. College is overwhelming enough.”
Historia rolled her eyes, finally glancing up from her phone. “Oh, come on, live a little! You’re starting fresh, new city, new school, new you. And trust me, Eren’s worth meeting.” She flipped her phone around, shoving it under Aurora’s nose to display an Instagram profile. The screen showed a guy with sharp green eyes, brown hair tied back in a messy bun, and a jawline that could cut glass. He was leaning against a black Jeep Wrangler in one photo, his arms crossed, a key necklace glinting against his chest. In another, he was laughing with friends at what looked like a beach bonfire, his black stud earrings catching the firelight. His vibe screamed trouble—bad boy with a hint of charm, the kind of guy who could make your heart race and your better judgment flee.
Aurora’s breath caught, her eyes lingering on the screen a moment too long. “He’s... okay, he’s hot,” she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. “But he looks like he’d eat me alive.”
Historia laughed, tucking her phone away. “Eren’s got that whole brooding, bad-boy thing going on, but he’s a softie deep down. He’s been through some shit, so he’s a bit intense, but he’s got a good heart. You’ll see.”
Aurora’s gaze drifted to her lap, her fingers twisting together. “Wait, hold on. Who’s this girl in all his pictures?” She’d noticed a striking girl with dark hair and eyes and a sharp gaze, always close to Eren—leaning into him in one photo, her hand on his arm in another. “She looks... close to him.”
Historia sighed, waving a hand dismissively. “That’s Mikasa, one of his best friends. They grew up together, practically siblings. Everyone in the friend group knows she’s got a crush on him, but Eren’s oblivious. He only sees her as a sister.”
Aurora’s eyes widened, her heart sinking. “Historia, why are you trying to set me up with a guy who’s got someone else in love with him? That’s a recipe for drama, and I don’t do drama.”
Historia smirked, nudging her cousin’s shoulder. “Relax, Aurora. Mikasa’s cool, she’s just... protective. Besides, Eren’s single, and you’re gorgeous. If anyone’s gonna catch his eye, it’s you. Just be your sweet, adorable self, and he’ll be hooked.”
Aurora groaned, sinking back against the seat. “I don’t even know how to talk to guys, let alone hot ones with intense eyes and man buns. My dating skills are nonexistent, Historia. I’ve never even had a boyfriend.”
“Exactly why you need to practice,” Historia teased, her eyes sparkling. “Stop being a pussy and just trust me. You’re gonna have fun tonight, I promise.”
The Uber pulled up to the restaurant, a trendy bistro with fairy lights strung across its outdoor patio and a chalkboard sign advertising “Artisanal Flatbreads.” The air was crisp with the early autumn chill, and Aurora shivered as she stepped out, her heels clicking against the pavement. Historia grabbed her hand, pulling her toward the entrance with a grin. “Come on, we’re already late. Everyone’s probably waiting.”
The room was warm and inviting, a long table set with candles and plates of appetizers. The friend group was already seated, a lively mix of faces that radiated energy and familiarity. Sasha was at the head of the table, her braid swinging as she gestured animatedly, a glass of wine in hand. Connie was next to her, laughing so hard he was nearly falling out of his chair, while Jean tried to shush him, his expression a mix of amusement and exasperation. Armin sat quietly, his glasses reflecting the candlelight as he smiled at something Annie said, her blonde hair tucked behind her ear. Reiner and Pieck were deep in conversation, Pieck’s dark eyes sparkling with mischief, while Porco leaned back in his chair, his arm slung around an empty seat reserved for Historia. Mikasa was there too, her dark hair pulled back, her expression calm but her eyes sharp as she listened to the chaos around her.
Eren was seated near the end of the table, his head bowed as he scrolled through his phone. Aurora’s breath caught, her heart skipping a beat as she took him in. He was even more striking in person, his features sharp and magnetic, the kind of beauty that made you forget how to speak.
Historia strode into the room like she owned it. “Hey, losers! Your queen has arrived!”
The table erupted in cheers and playful jeers, Sasha standing to pull Historia into a hug. “Finally!” Sasha said, grinning. “We were about to start without you!”
“Like you’d dare,” Historia shot back, hugging her before turning to Porco, who stood to kiss her cheek. She slid into the seat beside him, leaving Aurora standing awkwardly at the edge of the group, her hands clasped in front of her.
Historia noticed and waved her forward. “Guys, this is my cousin Aurora. She’s my new roomate, so be nice or I’ll fight you. Aurora, meet the chaos crew.”
Aurora’s cheeks flushed as all eyes turned to her, and she managed a small wave, her voice soft. “Hi, everyone. Nice to meet you.”
The group responded with a chorus of greetings, their warmth immediate and genuine. Sasha clapped her hands, her eyes bright. “Oh my god, you’re gorgeous! Sit, sit! We’re ordering food soon, and you have to try the truffle fries.”
Connie leaned forward, grinning. “Yo, Historia’s cousin? You’re automatically cool. Welcome to the madness.”
Jean raised an eyebrow, his tone teasing. “Just don’t let Historia corrupt you too fast. She’s a bad influence.”
Historia stuck out her tongue, and the group laughed, the banter flowing easily. Aurora smiled, her nerves easing slightly as she took in their friendliness. Pieck waved from across the table, her smile warm. “Good to see you again, Aurora. You look amazing.”
“Thanks,” Aurora said, her voice steadier as she recognized a familiar face. Porco nodded at her, his expression relaxed, and she felt a flicker of comfort knowing at least a few people here weren’t complete strangers.
Eren’s head was still bowed as he scrolled through his phone, seemingly oblivious to the chaos around him. Even seated, he was unmistakably tall, his broad shoulders filling out a fitted black button-down, the sleeves rolled up to reveal toned forearms. His brown hair was tied back in a loose bun, a few strands falling loose around his face, and a silver key necklace rested against his chest. He exuded a quiet intensity, like a storm waiting to break, and Aurora’s heart skipped a beat.
Historia nudged her forward, guiding her to an empty seat directly across from Eren. “Aurora, you can sit here,” she said, her tone a little too cheerful, and Aurora shot her a panicked glance. Of course, Historia would orchestrate this.
As Aurora sat, smoothing her dress nervously, Eren looked up from his phone. Their eyes met, and the world seemed to pause. His gaze was piercing, his green eyes locking onto her blue ones with an intensity that made her breath catch. She felt exposed, like he could see every thought, every insecurity, every flutter of her heart. His lips parted slightly, as if he was about to speak, but instead, he just stared, his expression unreadable yet charged.
“Hi,” he said finally, his voice deep and rumbling, sending a shiver down her spine.
“Hi,” Aurora squeaked, her cheeks flaming as she tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. She cursed herself inwardly—Squeaking? Really, Aurora?
Historia, oblivious to the electric moment, plopped down next to Porco, already launching into a story about their Uber driver’s questionable taste in music. The table erupted into laughter, but Eren’s gaze didn’t waver from Aurora. He leaned back in his chair, his phone forgotten, one hand resting on the table, the rings on his fingers glinting in the candlelight. “You’re Historia’s cousin?” he asked, his tone casual but his eyes anything but.
“Yeah,” Aurora said, her voice steadier now, though her heart was racing. “We’re roommates, too. Just started at the university.”
Eren nodded, his lips curving into a faint smile. “What’re you studying?”
“Pharmacy,” she said, clutching her hands in her lap to keep them from trembling. “I want to be a pharmacist. Help people, you know? Make a difference.”
His smile widened slightly, and there was something almost approving in his gaze. “That’s cool. Why pharmacy?”
Aurora blinked, surprised by the depth of the question. Most people just nodded and moved on, but Eren seemed genuinely curious, his eyes searching hers. “Um, well, I’ve always liked science and herbalism, my mother is an apothecary, and I... I like the idea of making things better for people. Like, figuring out what they need and helping them feel better. It’s... rewarding, I guess.”
He tilted his head, studying her. “Does it make you happy?”
The question caught her off guard, its simplicity disarming. “I... yeah, I think so,” she said, her voice softening. “I haven’t started yet, but I’ve always wanted to do something meaningful. Something that matters.”
Eren’s gaze softened, a flicker of something—admiration, maybe—crossing his face. “That’s a good reason,” he said, his voice low. “Most people don’t think about what really matters.”
Aurora’s cheeks warmed, and she ducked her head, suddenly aware of how intently he was watching her. There was something about the way he spoke, the way he looked at her, that made her feel seen in a way she wasn’t used to. It was thrilling and terrifying all at once.
Across the table, Mikasa’s eyes narrowed slightly, her fingers tightening around her glass of water. She hadn’t said a word since Aurora arrived, but her silence was loud, her posture stiff. Aurora noticed, her stomach twisting with unease. Great, I’m already stepping on toes.
Sasha, blissfully unaware of the tension, clapped her hands, drawing everyone’s attention. “Okay, people, I’m starving, and it’s my birthday, so let’s order everything on the menu!” she declared, waving her menu like a flag. “Aurora, you’re new, so you get to pick the first appetizer. No pressure, but choose wisely.”
Aurora laughed, the sound easing some of her nerves. “Uh, okay, no pressure,” she said, scanning the menu. “How about... the mozzarella sticks? You can’t go wrong with fried cheese.”
“Excellent choice!” Connie cheered, high-fiving her across the table. “You’re already one of us, Aurora.”
Jean rolled his eyes, leaning back in his chair. “Mozzarella sticks are basic, but I’ll allow it. Just don’t let Connie pick anything, or we’ll end up with hot wings that burn your face off.”
“Hey, spice is life!” Connie protested, tossing a balled-up napkin at Jean, who dodged it with a smirk.
The banter continued, the group slipping into their usual rhythm of teasing and laughter. Aurora relaxed slightly, grateful for the distraction, but she couldn’t shake the weight of Eren’s gaze. Every so often, she’d catch him watching her, his expression unreadable but his eyes intense, like he was trying to figure her out. It made her heart race, her fingers fidgeting with her bracelet under the table.
“So, Aurora,” Eren said, leaning forward slightly, his voice cutting through the chatter. “First time in the city? Or are you a local?”
“Kind of both,” she said, meeting his gaze despite her nerves. “I grew up a few hours away, but this is my first time living in the city. It’s... a lot. All the noise and people. I’m still getting used to it.”
He nodded, a flicker of understanding in his eyes. “It grows on you. The chaos, I mean. You find your place in it.”
“Yeah? Where’s your place?” she asked, surprising herself with the boldness of the question.
Eren’s lips twitched, a hint of a smirk playing at the corners. “Still figuring that out,” he said, his voice low, almost intimate. “But I like the energy here. Keeps you sharp.”
Aurora smiled, her nerves easing as they fell into an easy rhythm. He asked her more questions—about her favorite books, what music she listened to, why she chose the university—and she found herself opening up, her shyness melting under the warmth of his attention. There was something about Eren, a quiet intensity that drew her in, like a moth to a flame. He wasn’t loud or showy, but he had a presence that filled the space, commanding without trying.
Mikasa, meanwhile, stayed quiet, her gaze flickering between Eren and Aurora. At one point, she leaned over to Armin, murmuring something under her breath, and he gave her a reassuring pat on the shoulder. Aurora tried not to notice, focusing instead on Eren’s questions and the way his fingers toyed with one of his rings, spinning it absently as he listened to her.
The food arrived, a spread of mozzarella sticks, flatbreads, and a massive plate of nachos that Sasha immediately claimed as her own. The group dug in, the conversation flowing easily as they passed plates and traded stories. Aurora found herself laughing at Connie’s exaggerated tale of a disastrous camping trip, her earlier nerves fading as she settled into the group’s dynamic. They were loud, chaotic, and warm, and she felt a spark of hope that she might actually fit in here.
Eren, true to Historia’s description, was quieter than the others, but he wasn’t disengaged. He chimed in with dry, sarcastic comments that had Jean rolling his eyes and Sasha cackling, but his attention kept drifting back to Aurora.
At one point, she reached for a fry at the same time he did, their fingers brushing, and she pulled back, her cheeks flushing. “Sorry,” she mumbled, her voice barely audible.
He chuckled, sliding the plate toward her. “Go for it,” he said, his tone easy but his eyes intense. “Ladies first.”
Historia, who’d been watching the exchange with a smug grin, leaned over to whisper in Aurora’s ear. “Told you he’d be hooked,” she said, her tone triumphant. Aurora swatted her arm, mortified, but couldn’t hide her smile.
As the dinner wore on, the group grew louder, the wine and beer flowing freely. Sasha, now slightly tipsy, stood on her chair to give a dramatic birthday speech, which devolved into her serenading the table with an off-key rendition of a pop song. Connie joined in, equally off-key, while Jean groaned and Armin filmed the chaos on his phone, laughing so hard he nearly dropped it. Even Mikasa cracked a rare smile, though her eyes still flicked to Eren and Aurora every so often.
Eren, for his part, seemed more engaged than his friends had seen him in a while. He wasn’t the loudest at the table, but he was present, his usual stoic demeanor softened by Aurora’s presence. When she spoke, he listened, his head tilted slightly, his eyes never leaving her face. When she laughed, his lips curved into a faint smile, like her joy was contagious. It was subtle, but to those who knew him—like Armin, who watched with quiet approval, or Mikasa, who watched with quiet unease—it was unmistakable.
A massive chocolate cake that Sasha insisted on cutting herself was carved into uneven slices, the rich scent of cocoa and frosting mingling with the lingering aroma of garlic bread. Candlelight flickered across the table, casting warm shadows over the group’s faces as they dug into the dessert. Aurora’s slice sat on a small plate in front of her, a smear of frosting already on her fork as she took a tentative bite. The sweetness melted on her tongue, and she couldn’t help but smile, her earlier nerves dulled by the warmth of the group and the sugar rush. She was still shy, her shoulders slightly hunched, her ice-blue eyes darting around the table, but the laughter and easy banter had loosened her up, making her feel like she might actually belong here.
Eren leaned back in his chair, a slice of cake on his plate, his green eyes still fixed on her with an intensity that made her cheeks flush. He hadn’t stopped watching her all night, his gaze a steady weight that both thrilled and unnerved her.
Every time their eyes met, it was like a spark igniting, a connection that felt inexplicably familiar, as if they’d known each other forever. Aurora had never believed in past lives—her practical, science-minded brain dismissed such notions—but sitting here, with Eren’s deep voice and piercing questions pulling her in, she couldn’t shake the feeling that they’d met before, in some other time, some other world.
He leaned forward now, his elbow resting on the table, his key necklace glinting in the candlelight. “So,” he said, his voice low, cutting through the chatter of the group. “You said you like science. What’s the coolest thing you’ve learned so far? Like, something that blew your mind.”
Aurora blinked, caught off guard by the question. His questions were always like this—deep, probing, as if he wanted to peel back every layer of her soul. She set her fork down, wiping her mouth with a napkin to buy time. “Um, well,” she started, her voice soft but gaining confidence as she spoke. “In high school, I did a project on bioluminescence—you know, like how fireflies glow? It’s this chemical reaction, luciferin and luciferase, that makes light without heat. It’s... kind of magical, honestly. Like nature’s way of saying there’s beauty even in the dark.”
Eren’s lips curved into a faint smile, his eyes softening. “That’s actually pretty cool,” he said, his tone genuine. “You’re into the poetic stuff, huh? Not just the lab-coat side of science.”
Her cheeks warmed, and she ducked her head, tucking a loose strand of platinum blonde hair behind her ear. “I guess so,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. “I like when things make sense but still feel... special.”
He nodded, his gaze lingering on her, and for a moment, it was like the rest of the table didn’t exist. The noise of Connie’s laughter, Sasha’s enthusiastic fork-waving, and Jean’s exasperated sighs faded into the background, leaving just the two of them, caught in a quiet bubble of connection. Aurora’s heart raced, her fingers fidgeting with her bracelet under the table. She’d never felt this before—this pull, this sense that someone saw her, not just the shy girl, but the person underneath.
Reiner, sitting a few seats down, broke the moment with a loud chuckle. “Yo, Eren, you gonna let Aurora talk to anyone else tonight, or you just hogging her all to yourself?” he teased, his broad shoulders shaking with laughter as he took a swig of his beer.
Aurora’s face went scarlet, her eyes widening as she stared at her plate, suddenly fascinated by the crumbs of cake. The table erupted into laughter, and even Eren smirked, though his gaze didn’t leave her. “What can I say, Reiner? She’s interesting,” he said, his voice casual but with an edge that made Aurora’s stomach flip. “Unlike some people who just talk about protein shakes and football.”
“That’s a low blow!” Reiner protested, clutching his chest dramatically. “I’m a man of depth. Ask me about my skincare routine sometime.”
“Pass,” Eren shot back, his smirk widening as the group laughed again. Aurora peeked up at him, her blush still burning, but there was a warmth in her chest at his words. Interesting. No one had ever called her that before, not like he meant it.
Historia, perched next to Porco, caught Aurora’s eye and winked, her expression practically screaming I told you so. Aurora shot her a mock glare, but her lips twitched into a smile. She couldnt deny it—Eren’s attention was intoxicating, and the way he looked at her, like she was the only person in the room, made her feel bold in a way she wasn’t used to.
Mikasa, however, was less amused. She sat at the opposite end of the table, her dark ponytail sleek and her expression unreadable, but her fingers were clenched around her fork, her knuckles white. She’d been quiet most of the night, her usual stoic demeanor even more pronounced, but every time Eren leaned closer to Aurora, her eyes narrowed slightly, a flicker of something—jealousy, maybe—crossing her face.
Sasha, oblivious to the undercurrents, stood up on her chair again, wobbling slightly as she raised her glass of wine. “Okay, okay, everyone, listen up!” she declared, her voice slurred but enthusiastic. “This has been the best birthday dinner ever, and you’re all my favorite people, but it’s not over yet! After-party at my place! More cake, more drinks, and I’m making Connie do karaoke!”
“Hell yeah!” Connie cheered, pumping his fist. “I’m singing ‘Sweet Caroline,’ and nobody can stop me!”
Jean groaned, rubbing his temples. “You’re gonna butcher it, and I’m gonna have to live with the trauma.”
Aurora laughed, the sound light and genuine, but her smile faltered as she realized the night was winding down. She glanced at Historia, who was already gathering her purse, her golden hair catching the candlelight. “Actually, guys,” Historia said, standing and looping her arm through Porco’s, “Aurora and I are gonna have to pass on the after-party. We’ve got some last-minute packing to do before we move into the dorms next week. Our stuff’s at our grandparents’ place, and it’s a mess.”
Porco nodded, slinging an arm around Historia’s shoulders. “Yeah, and I’m roped into helping because apparently I’m a pack mule now,” he said, his tone teasing but affectionate. “Pieck’s coming too, so we’re gonna make a night of it.”
Pieck, lounging in her chair with a lazy smile, raised her glass. “I’m just there for your Grandma’s banana bread,” she said. “But yeah, we’re out.”
Aurora nodded, her voice soft. “Yeah, I’ve got a ton of boxes to sort through. Plus, Historia’s got, like, a million clothes to organize.”
“Fashion takes space,” Historia said, flipping her hair dramatically. “You’ll thank me when I’m styling you for parties.”
Eren’s expression shifted, a flicker of disappointment crossing his face as he leaned back in his chair. “No after-party, huh?” he said, his voice low, his eyes on Aurora. “That’s a shame.”
Her heart skipped a beat, her cheeks flushing under his gaze. “Yeah, sorry,” she said, her voice shy. “Next time, maybe?”
He nodded, his lips curving into a small, almost private smile. “Yeah. Next time.” He paused, then reached into his pocket, pulling out his phone and unlocking it with a quick swipe. “Hey, before you go, can I get your number?” he asked, his tone casual but his eyes intense, like he was holding his breath.
Aurora’s eyes widened, her blush deepening as she nodded. “Oh, um, sure,” she said, her voice trembling slightly. He handed her his phone, and she fumbled with it for a moment, her fingers shaking as she typed in her number. Her heart was pounding so hard she was sure he could hear it, but when she handed the phone back, their fingers brushed, and the contact sent a jolt through her.
“I’ll text you,” Eren said, his voice low and promising as he pocketed his phone. “It was really nice meeting you, Aurora.”
“You too,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper, her eyes locked on his. There it was again—that feeling of familiarity, like they’d done this before, in some distant memory she couldn’t quite grasp.
Historia, watching the exchange with barely concealed glee, grabbed Aurora’s arm. “Okay, lovebirds, we gotta go,” she said, her tone teasing.
Pieck laughed, standing and slinging her bag over her shoulder. “You did great tonight, Aurora. You’re gonna fit right in.”
“Thanks,” Aurora said, her voice soft but genuine. She glanced at Eren one last time, her heart fluttering as he gave her a small nod, his eyes still on her even as she turned to leave.
The four of them made their way to the exit, weaving through the restaurant’s crowded tables. Aurora could feel eyes on her as they left, and when she glanced back, she saw Eren watching her, his expression unreadable but his gaze unwavering. The rest of the group was already buzzing, their voices carrying as they gathered their things.
As soon as Aurora and her group were out of earshot, Connie leaned across the table, his grin wide and mischievous. “Yo, Eren, what’s the deal with you and Aurora? You were, like, all over her tonight.”
Eren’s eyes narrowed, but his lips twitched into a smirk. “I was just being friendly, Connie. Chill.”
“Friendly, my ass,” Jean said, leaning back with a knowing look. “You were staring her down the whole time. Poor girl didn’t know what hit her.”
Sasha, still munching on a leftover piece of cake, nodded enthusiastically. “Seriously, Eren, you were glued to her. She’s super sweet, though. And that dress? Total good-girl vibe, but, like, sexy good-girl vibe. You know?”
Eren’s smirk faded, his jaw tightening slightly. “She’s not just some hot girl. She’s... different.”
Connie’s eyebrows shot up, his grin widening. “Oh, shit, he’s got it bad! ‘She’s different,’ he says. Bro, you’ve known her for, like, two hours!”
“Shut up, Connie,” Eren said, but there was no real heat in his voice. He leaned back, running a hand through his hair, his rings catching the light. “She’s interesting, okay? I don’t usually meet people who... I don’t know, get it.”
Armin, who’d been quietly observing, smiled softly. “She seems nice,” he said, his tone diplomatic. “You two hit it off. It’s cool to see you so engaged, Eren.”
Mikasa, however, wasn’t smiling. Her arms were crossed, her dark eyes fixed on the table, her fork abandoned next to her untouched cake. She’d been silent through most of the teasing, but Sasha’s comment about Aurora’s “sexy good-girl vibe” pushed her over the edge. “Can we not talk about her like she’s some trophy?” she snapped, her voice low but cutting. “She’s just Historia’s cousin. You don’t even know her, Eren.”
The table went quiet, the sudden tension palpable. Eren’s eyes flicked to Mikasa, his expression unreadable. “I know enough,” he said, his voice calm but firm. “And I’m gonna get to know her better. You got a problem with that?”
Mikasa’s jaw tightened, her eyes flashing with a mix of hurt and anger. “No,” she said, her voice clipped. “Do whatever you want.” She pushed her chair back, standing abruptly. “I’m getting some air.”
She stalked toward the patio, leaving the group in stunned silence. Armin sighed, pushing his glasses up his nose. “I’ll go talk to her,” he said, standing and following her out.
Jean whistled low, shaking his head. “Damn, Eren you really got a talent for stirring shit up.”
Eren didn’t respond, his gaze fixed on the spot where Aurora had disappeared. He wasn’t sure what it was about her—her quiet demeanor, her shy smile, the way she answered his questions with a sincerity that felt rare—but he knew he needed to see her again. It wasn’t just attraction; it was something deeper, something that felt like fate.
Meanwhile, in Porco’s car, the mood was decidedly lighter. The car smelled faintly of fast food and cologne, the radio playing a low hum of some indie rock song Porco insisted was “classic.” Historia sat in the passenger seat, her legs crossed, her phone glowing as she scrolled through photos from the dinner. “Oh my god, Aurora, look at this one,” she said, turning her phone to show a candid shot of Aurora laughing at something Connie said, her eyes bright, her cheeks flushed. “You were glowing tonight. Eren couldn’t take his eyes off you.”
Aurora, in the backseat next to Pieck, groaned, burying her face in her hands. “Historia, stop,” she said, her voice muffled but laced with a smile. “It wasn’t like that. We were just talking.”
“Just talking?” Porco snorted, glancing at her in the rearview mirror. “Please. I’ve known Eren for years, and I’ve never seen him look at anyone the way he looked at you. Dude was smitten.”
Pieck nodded, her lazy smile warm as she leaned back. “He’s not wrong,” she said, her voice soft but teasing. “Eren’s usually all broody and quiet, but tonight? He was, like, alive. You got under his skin, Aurora.”
Aurora’s cheeks burned, her hands dropping to her lap as she fidgeted with her bracelet. “You guys are making it sound like a big deal,” she said, her voice shy. “He was just being nice.”
“Nice?” Historia laughed, twisting in her seat to face Aurora. “Aurora, he was practically undressing you with his eyes. And those questions? ‘Does it make you happy?’ Who asks that kind of stuff unless they’re trying to get into your soul?”
“Historia!” Aurora squeaked, mortified, but she couldn’t help laughing. “You’re so dramatic.”
“I’m just saying,” Historia said, grinning. “You two had chemistry. Like, soulmate-level chemistry. I’m calling it now—you’re gonna be Mrs. Jaeger by graduation.”
Aurora’s face went scarlet, and she swatted Historia’s arm. “Oh my god, stop! We just met!”
Porco chuckled, shaking his head. “She’s not wrong, though. Eren doesn’t usually take an interest in new people. You must be special.”
Before Aurora could respond, her phone chimed in her purse, the sound cutting through the car’s chatter. Her heart skipped a beat as she pulled it out, her eyes widening at the notification. A text from an unknown number, but she knew who it was before she even opened it.
Unknown: Hey, it’s Eren. Was really nice meeting you tonight. You’re interesting as hell. When are you free next? Wanna see you again.
Aurora’s breath caught, her cheeks flushing as she read the message again, her heart pounding. She bit her lip, trying to suppress the smile spreading across her face, but it was no use. Historia, ever observant, leaned over the seat, her eyes gleaming. “Is that him? Oh my god, it’s him, isn’t it? What’d he say?”
Aurora clutched her phone to her chest, her voice a mix of embarrassment and excitement. “It’s... yeah, it’s Eren,” she admitted, her smile breaking through. “He said it was nice to meet me and... he wants to see me again.”
Historia squealed, clapping her hands. “I knew it! I’m a matchmaking genius! Aurora, you’re gonna have a hot boyfriend by next week, mark my words.”
Porco laughed, glancing at Historia. “You’re way too invested in this, babe.”
“Shut up, it’s romantic,” Historia shot back, grinning. “Aurora deserves a guy like Eren. They’re perfect together.”
Pieck, watching Aurora with a fond smile, reached over and squeezed her hand. “He’s right, you know,” she said softly. “You and Eren... there’s something there. You can feel it, can’t you?”
Aurora nodded, her voice barely a whisper. “Yeah,” she said, her eyes drifting to the window, where the city lights blurred past. “I can.”
She looked down at her phone again, her fingers hovering over the keyboard as she typed a reply, her heart racing with a mix of nerves and excitement. Hey, it was great meeting you too. I’m free next weekend, maybe we could grab coffee or something?
She hit send before she could overthink it, her stomach fluttering as she leaned back against the seat. The car hummed along, the radio filling the silence as Historia continued to gush, Porco teased, and Pieck offered quiet encouragement. But Aurora’s mind was elsewhere, lost in the memory of Eren’s green eyes, his deep voice, the way he’d made her feel seen. It was just one night, one dinner, but it felt like the start of something bigger, something that burned bright enough to light up her world.
As Porco’s car sped toward their grandparents’ house, Aurora couldn’t shake the feeling that fate had brought her here, to this city, to this moment, to him. And as her phone chimed again with Eren’s reply—Coffee sounds perfect. Can’t wait.—she knew, deep down, that this was only the beginning.

You've all earned a break 💚
Okay, so I posted yesterday that I was going to turn anon off because I am not spending this hiatus like I have spent the last two. I'm so glad I did because yeah I'm not going to play this game with people. As soon as I saw Kristen was a co-writer my expectations plummeted. This is not an anti post, but I will die on the hill that Kristen should not have any part in writing big episodes. She's not shown she's capable of doing that in any way that is worthy of the episode for years now. Stop giving them to her. It was a fine episode. It was a GREAT Chimney episode. But it felt like a mid-season finale, not a season finale. Her pacing is terrible. You can see what they're trying to set up, so I give them that. But the reality is the last minute addition of the Bobby storyline killed the season. It entirely halted all other story threads that they had actually been building for the season. It was a really good season, right up until episode 15. Once again Tim decided to rewrite the entire back half of a season, just like he did last season, and by his own admission he did it on a whim. And it killed the season for a second season in a row. It was shaping up to be an amazing season. And he took a buzzsaw to it for reasons no one seems to know. They officially have a Tim problem and it needs addressing. I do think they will ship him off to the spinoff though. A brand new show requires consistency in storylines because you have to establish the characters and the story threads, which he needs to be forced and reminded of how to do. So let him go.
My colleague not so patiently reminded me today that the entire point of Upfronts is to sell the next season of television, not the current season. He is correct, and I'm annoyed at myself for not keeping that in mind this past week, but I, like everyone else, got swept up in the Ryliver tour. That being said, they are clearly going there with Buddie. And I don't want any of it skipped or rushed through, that was my one complaint about Bathena, they spoke in one episode and bam they were dating the next. I don't want that with Buddie. I want all the buildup. But they have to stop kicking the storyline into the next season. They've officially started the actual storyline so I'm assuming we will see that play out next season.
The Bobby stuff is dumbfounding. It was so terribly done that I mostly still don't buy it. So we shall see. Anyway we're all free for the next 2 months so please log off and go outside and touch grass. Take a break. We've all earned it. 🩷
Thank you Nonny. ❤️❤️❤️
I already laid it all bare in my episode review post. You can find my thoughts there. Most of them are similar to Ali's.
Have a nice hiatus break fandom. We've earned this one. We went through some highs and lows and came out okay on the other end of it. Keep in mind that this is a TV-show and you can absolutely step away for a while if you feel the need to do so.
Heads up! For anyone who is giving me the shifty eyes for reposting Ali's updates instead of reblogging. Read this.
Remember, no hate in comments, reblogs or inboxes. Let's keep it civil and respectful. Thank you.
If you are interested in more of Ali’s posts, you can find all of her posts so far under the tag: anonymous blog I love.

2024 feminist movie retrospective ~ day 10
It's RAPID FIRE REVIEWS TIME !! ROUND 3
I don't have enough to say about these next films to write full reviews, but i still want to mention them, these are some of the ones i watched in theaters in May/June of 2024.
Tumblr media
Sooooo fucking fun. Also the romance is actually, like, good?? Romantic subplots are always a chore in action movies but this was so sweet and cute?? It's barely a subplot actually, it's pretty important to the narrative. Which is probably why it works. I've loved every David Leitch feature that I've seen (so, everything but the Fast & Furious spinoff) and this one is no exception. Great dynamic camera work, fun editing, just a really entertaining good time. Will put you in a good mood. You can tell all the cast is having a lot of fun. Also this movie pays homage to stunt work and stunt workers and that's needed! These people rock. Loved that this had BTS footage in the end credits, I missed that. My little brother has a crush on Winston Duke AND Ryan Gosling AND Aaron Taylor Johnson so needless to say he had the time of his LIFE at the cinema 😹😹

The most successful film of the year in french theaters. I can see why, this is exactly the kind of simple thing the french public just eats up. The movie fulfills its mission pretty much perfectly. It's about being heartwarming, funny, and to give visibility to people with certain disabilities. Apparently non-profit organizations for disabled adults (like the one we see in the film) saw a massive increase in support, donations and volunteers after the release of this film. That's great, I hope it keeps going! There was a bit of a scandal at Cannes film festival because not a single brand wanted to sponsor the cast on the red carpet, but the director got pissed off. Not only did they end up getting their haute couture sponsor, they ended up being the biggest sensation on the red carpet! Look at them! 🩵🥹
Watching this in theaters was sooo fun. Fullest showing i've seen all year. I've also never seen so many people in wheelchairs at my theater at the same time?? The crowd was laughing at every joke, such a fun community moment. I cannot believe some people are calling the movie insensitive because there are mean jokes towards the characters. THIS IS A FRENCH COMEDY. Of course it's gonna be mean as fuck. AND ALMOST THE WHOLE CAST IS DISABLED. Saying that mockery is fine except for some groups because they "can't take it" is fucking insane especially when no one from said group agrees with you. Performative "activists" are so annoying.

Japanese humor usually works well on me so I expected a good laugh. What I didn't expect were the feels? Right in the kokoro omg. Loved the editing, loved the rhythm. Very dynamic and full of fun, entertaining ideas. On top of that there's a layer of commentary about (japanese) work culture that's very interesting and works SUPER well with the concept. The characters are very archetypal but they're also very interesting and watchable. The two female characters in particular stayed with me. The third act was so touching and original. Completely unexpected but so sweet and profound. A great time. I LOVE TIME LOOP STORIESSSS

A bit like Das Lehrerzimmer, this feels like a 2 hour long panic attack. So claustrophobic, so effective. The whole cast is acting its ass off. The dialogues and the interactions feel so real. That ending too! One of the best endings of the year lol. Such a competent, tightly-nit project! What a ride. I ate my fingers to the bone watching this x)

I low-key expected to hate this 😭 I only knew that this is supposed to be like, THE "polyamorous" movie. But it's not that at all, it's much more interesting??? Everyone who watches this film has an opinion on which ship is endgame, I'm in the gay team 💪 I love the female character but I don't like the vibe between her and either of the guys. The two guys tho??? Immaculate chemistry I NEED them to fuck on-screen. That being said, the story wasn't fascinating to me. The writing is great, but it's just not my style at all. If that story had been in any other film I would have forgotten everything about it a week after seeing it. BUT it's not the case.
This was one of my FAVOURITES film of the year in terms of film-making. Like, top 5 maybe. This is EXTRAORDINARY. The soundtrack is fucking balls to the walls insane and it's unlike anything I've heard before in a movie. It's great to listen to by itself but in the film it's just... It's perfect. I never would have thought i'd ever see homoerotic tennis matches set to trance music in theaters but there's a first for everything lol. The editing, the shot composition, the pacing ARG I WANNA EAT THIS MOVIE IT SCRATCHES MY BRAIN SO PERFECTLY. Watching this in theaters with my mom (a huge tennis fan) was one of my best experiences last year. I KNOW that 10 years from now i will still remember that final match point scene. Hoooooolyyyyy shit go watch this.

You can definitely tell it's a novel adaptation. I don't say that as a compliment unfortunately. Way too much explanation and talking from beginning to end. It feels like the exposition never stops. That being said, the movie has some great design ideas, some beautiful shots and beautiful photography. Also it's cool that one of the main characters is an older woman. I also REALLY admire the film for its commitment to its own narrative. It's very trendy right now to make horror/somber movies as cryptic and nonsensical as possible just for the sake of it. This film has a very detailed lore and wants you to understand it. Not the film of the year, but will appeal to those of you who like interesting fantasy concepts and spooky vibes. A pretty fun watch.

I was told this was THE lesbian film of the year. Is it? Well, maybe… 😳 Be warned tho ! This is first and foremost a violent revenge film. Drugs are also a big theme, which made this a bit of a hard watch for me. (I have my personal issues with this subject and I generally avoid it. I didn't know it was in the film. But oh well.)
In yesterday's review, i said that i LOVE when SSA characters are in stories that aren't specific to "gay cinema". And this film is exactly what i like! This story COULD have been about a straight couple, but it isn't. Very cool 😎
It's horny, it's violent, it's weird, it's original, it's super satisfying. I loved the use of color in this. The actresses are GREAT. And also, I happen to have a thing for super buff women. So.... Mamma mia.... 😳🏳️‍🌈 It's a destructive and toxic love story told in a super interesting way, all wrapped up in a great 80s aesthetic. Not for the faint of heart.

My mom really wanted to go see this because she had heard good reviews and she loves the main actress. This is THE WORST thing I've seen this year, bar none 😭😭😭 My brother and I just couldn't take the film seriously and we kept laughing. That put my mom in a SUPER bad mood and she pouted the rest of the evening...
More thoughts here.

Holy shit Disney. Fucking yikes. This is genuinely embarrassing. The quality drop of the animation is fucking insane. This looks so much worse than the previous one, the textures are worse, the movements feel more clunky and the facial expressions aren't as dynamic. Why were some members of the cast replaced by less famous actors? Did the Walt Disney fucking company run out of budget to pay the original ones? Literally one of the only things i was excited about was hearing Bill Hader and you took that away from me!! Where the fuck is Michael Giacchino?? His soundtrack for the first film is beautiful and super iconic!!
Narratively it's a clone of the first film, but with less stakes. It feels like an AI generated sequel. It doesn't even make sense in the universe of this story, because those concepts SHOULD have been introduced in the first one!! Ayo Edebiri's character serves NO purpose in the film. If you remove her from the script NOTHING CHANGES. She just exists to look cute on the poster and so they can say they got Ayo Edebiri in the film. I love her as much as the next lesbian, but this is fucking awful. The only thing i liked was Adèle Exarchopoulos's character. She was cute. It's funny that one of the emotions is french for no reason. She made me laugh. But apart from that it was all just fucking cancer. Sure it has fun and heartwarming moments, but it's so cynical and disgusting.
And OF COURSE, this broke the record for most successful animated film ever. I hate hollywood. Thank glob the record was broken again 7 months later. This is the quality of a straight to DVD sequel. Like in the good old days 🤪🤪 Except it came out in theaters. AND IT MADE 1.6 BILLION DOLLARS. I'm gonna kms. If you wanna watch a good film, watch the first one. It's not perfect but almost. It was fresh and original, it was genuine and emotional. THIS one is just... What if capitalism was a movie?
That's it for May/June! I also saw The Dead don't Hurt, Le Deuxime Acte and the Bikeriders but I got nothing to say about those

ok so im seeing quite a bit of upset people over the changes to the ferris wheel scene, and while i understand why people are upset (because like, duh, we all want ace tori and pan michael), i think from the show's perspective it makes a LOT of sense and i liked the change:
one, because it gave good closure to tori's storyline of the season: she is allowed to have close relationships with people who aren't her brother. I think she'd been so worried about charlie that she needed him to remind her that she's her own person and she doesn't have to neglect her own life for his sake. and also I think because she was SO focused on charlie she genuinely thought the lack of "feelings" she was experiencing were entirely because of her stress over the charlie situation and now that he's finally given her the "out" (as a manner of speaking) she can actually think about her life and her feelings for michael for what they are instead of through the lens of a worried sister. so I think it was necessary for her character development.
two, because the events of solitaire did not happen in the show while in the comics michael is already an established character and we know him, in the show he's been there for approximately 5 scenes. so of course he's not going to show up as a fully realized character. remember in the comics how tori is like "surprised neither you nor nick have noticed, bro's kinda obnoxious (affectionate) about it"? yeah well he's interacted with nick once and charlie like three times on screen. and also, he and tori just MET on the show. and this season was also a little busy with darcy, isaac and imogen going on their own sexuality and gender journeys so in my opinion, dropping a michael reveal in the ferris wheel scene would've felt kinda shoehorned (especially because it wouldn't even be michael saying that to charlie, and that tracks in the comics because of their background and bc tori assumed charlie knew, but not in the show bc they barely know each other and tori would essentially be outing him)
i hope hope HOPE we get a season 4 because tori and michael need and deserve a little more breathing room (and again, that's not a failure of this season at ALL, but solitaire not existing in tv verse DOES inform the way their joint storyline was written), and I want nothing more than a full season where they get to know each other better, learn about themselves and each other, and come out to the important people in their lives in their own terms ((and also I just honestly want a sprolden spinoff because I will always be first and foremost a sprolden shooter))

what do you think of the pillars? I always thought they were so fascinating
criminally underutilized, somewhat poorly placed on occasion, but individually very very fun characters. My favorite is Somnambula because she's just cute as hell, design is great and voice is adorable (I used the element of hope for Sunset Shimmer in one of my fics lmao) I apreciated getting to see the MLP gandalf even if it wasn't strictly necessary; He does turn out to be fun as hell; Though damn he barely appears.
All the others are pretty fun! (Why is flash here?! Why there 2 flashes lol)
I apreciate how they mirror (some) of the mane 6 better than others (I see little to no combination with Pinkie and Sonnambula) And how their backstories do feel like legendary tales (I think Mistmane's is awfully nice, giving up on a thing you're known for just to help a friend, even if the whole conception of 'beauty' could be interpreted as skewed. after all she and became a gilf lol)
I think that each of the Mane 6 could have used episodes partnering up with their counterparts, or even episodes where the pillars lead (Hell, an entire spinoff show set on the ancient time of the pillars coulda been pretty sick. Younger Celestia and Luna, and a fun group with dudes that aren't one dimensional in it) AND you get a rethread of Rarijack but old people flavor. nice.

Also its so dumb that they all just lose pathetically in the finale LMAO they literally help with nothing, thanks for nothing tirek
