back at sae's palace on my new game+ run of p5. thinking about the flaws in the og p3 i was willing to overlook vs the flaws in p5 (and reload to an extent) that i am not. in the end i think it boils down to p3 committing to its design choices; even when smth doesnt work or is tonally weird today you can still give em point for putting effort in. a lot of writing decisions i have problems with in p5 arent the result of the concept being bad. a lot of times it boils down to like,, souless execution. you know? do you guys know?

this man is a very comforting person to be around

his scent is nice, the soft but bold smell of coffee clings to him from Leblanc

he's a very soft person, whether it be his voice, his hair, or even just him in general.

he also can be quite quiet sometimes, so he's a good person to vent to or talk to. he doesn't pry, and is a very good listener.

he won't cling to you, and certainly won't push you to speak or hang out with him. he want's to give you as much space as you want and need.

will make food for you, and check up on you, just to make sure that your still staying healthy.

tries his best to act like normal, but is still very kind with you and careful; he doesn't want to bring up any emotions or bad feelings.

however, he doesn't want to act so normal that you feel like your being neglected or that he's trying to ignore your feelings

as soon as he finds out you have a palace he blames himself

it crushes him, it truly does that your desires got so out of whack because of this

he feels like a terrible boyfriend. he should have noticed that you were going through this, he thinks

he makes it his first priority to save you, and make sure that your state doesn't get any worse

after all is said and done, he makes sure to check up on you more and make sure that you know your not alone, even though he can't replace the person you lost.

definitely the best to comfort you.

he's lost people in his life, and knows what you need. You need some attention, not enough to be smothered, but enough that you know your not alone in this.

after his dad left (even though he was a terrible person), it messed him up, and he felt more alone then ever. he didn't have anyone like you to help him through it

he wants to make sure you don't feel the way he did, so he makes sure to check up on you

the same as Akira, makes sure you've been eating and drinking, but also makes sure you've been keeping up with hygiene.

he'll invite you over and run you a nice bath, and while you take it he will prepare snacks and a movie, with your favourite fluffy blanket of course.

lots of snuggles. again, he makes sure you always have space to back up or move away from him incase you feel suffocated.

when he hears from Mishima that you asked for your own heart to be changed via the phan-site, he makes it his goal to help you.

he tries not to linger on bad thoughts to much, and tries not to let himself take the blame; he knows its not his fault.

that being said, he still feels bad about it all, he can't help it you are his s/o after all

as soon as your heart has been changed he's coming to visit you, with some sort of gift, maybe a teddy bear, or even just some snacks

he's a clueless boy

not the best at sensing when you need to be comforted, and also not the best at sensing when you need space

in fact, he's quite bad at it.

he may have lost his mother and father, but he was quite young when it happened, and he tries not to think of Madarame to much

still, he is aware of the situation and tries his best to comfort you

he gives nice hugs, probably because of his height, and is also very gentle with you

he treats you very delicately, and tries his best to be delicate with words as well, as not to say anything that might trigger you or make you feel a wave of bad emotions.

he tries to make you food

he's not very good at it, but he's learned a thing or two from living in a school dorm by himself.

sometimes he'll just resort to buying you some food (if he has money)

one of the few ways he is good at showing that he is there for you, is by making you stuff.

he paints, sketches, crafts, heck he even tries using clay.

he makes you all sorts of stuff from trinkets to full on paintings.

when he find out about your desire to have your heart changed, it hits him like a truck, especially because you told him yourself, even if you don't know he's a phantom thief

your the only person he has left, really, and he wants to take care of you more than anything in the world.

he's quick to change your heart, and after he comes to see you

he is out of characteristically romantic with you and gentle with you, even more so than he already is

he's just happy that your here with him, and that you didn't start to feel worse.

it doesn't matter if it's third semester akechi or not, he too is also terrible at comforting you

he does try, really, he just isn't really sure how to do it right

growing up he never got comforting for anything. not until you showed up.

its still a very new concept for him, but he wants to be there for you so he tries as best as he can

and for the most part he's ok. the only problem is that he's over baring. its almost suffocating.

he always knows when your upset, its like his sixth sense

the only problem is that he can't tell if your upset because of the loss, or because of him.

he actually refuses to even think its him unless you bring it up

he's good at taking care of you. he buys you food, helps you stay on top of hygiene, helps you with laundry.

its just that he acts like you are completely uncapable of doing ANYTHING. it's like he's taken control of your life.

when he does find out about your palace, he's heartbroken.

you are the ONLY positive thing in his life. his sweet little flower that he protects and cherishes more than anything.

VERY QUICK to get rid of your palace.

he soon after realises that he was kind of bad at comforting you and the he was waaaaaay to over the top.

he makes sure to give you as much space as you need now, but is also much sweeter than you. before he had discovered your palace, he didn't know that the death had effected you as much as it did, and now he wants to show you his unconditional love and support.

I woke to a loud bang as my bedroom door was forced open, 

"The time has come Miss Everset." Miss Hardcastle said as she shut my door behind her, 

"For?" I yawned very confused about what was happening and why she was in my room,

"For your ball."

"Yes? At starting at nine-thirty this evening." 

"But guests will be arriving from nine onwards."

"Yes? I fail to see why you are in my bedroom" I began as I glanced at my clock "Nine O'clock in the morning." 

"To begin preparations miss,"

"I will not take twelve hours to prepare." 

"Please Miss, You are going to miss breakfast."

I rolled my eyes a little and simply slipped my robe around my shoulders and followed her down to the dining room where my father sat with his breakfast. 

"Morning My sweet, you excited?" He asked,

"I'm tired." I yawned,

"Well don't overwork yourself making yourself look beautiful you'll be up a good while at your party."

"I know," I nodded, as my breakfast arrived just some toast and jam, "Thank you," I nodded to the maid who brought it, and I began to nibble at it in my sleep state. 

"You may go Miss Hardcastle Wait in her room," My father told her, 

She nodded and closed the door behind her which left me alone with my father, 

"Hello My sweet," He smiled finishing his breakfast and looking at me so I had no escape, 

"Hi, Daddy," 

"You're not in trouble." he said, and I breathed a sigh of relief, "I just... want to talk to you, One last time."

"One last time?" I asked fearfully

"Tonight, you debut. And you are an eligible young lady in all eyes. I want to talk to you, one last time. As just my little girl." He smiled, 

"I'll always be your little girl father,"

"No. You won't. Tonight women will look at you with envy, tonight men will look at you with desire, that believe me my sweet. That is an intoxicating feeling. "A Man is a very basic animal, he thinks straightforwardly without contractual, A man has three minds the first in his head the second between his legs and the third snuggled with his ribs, and yes that is the order they think in. "What sort of man would you recommend then?"

"I recommend a man, who thinks you are all three." He smiled, "But..." "You're welcome Y/n." He smiled, "But... I'm just an old man, the world has changed. All I can truly tell you is, when you see him, when you speak to him, when you and him touch hands, there should be this... spark that makes you believe you're the only two people in the world." 

"Was it like that for you and mother?"

"Ohh yes" he nodded, "I met your mother at her ball, and when I saw her dance, the world slowed, when I touched her hand I felt like I was a king, when your mother kissed me I would have plucked the moon from the sky for her." He explained, "And if you meet a man, tonight or any other night that makes you feel that way, whether he's a lord, a count, a kitchen boy, a urchin, or a doctor. He is your choice and I will support it, always."

"No matter who?"

"No matter who. So long as he comes to me and he does things properly." He nodded, "Go on Miss Hardcastle will ensure your ready, I'll see you tonight."

"Thank you, Father," I smiled, I got up from my seat I was just going to leave but I went over and hugged him wrapping my arms around his shoulders and kissing his head "Thank you, Daddy." 

He smiled and kissed my hands patting them, "You're welcome, Go on now." 

Miss Hardcastle was merciless, She ran me a bath hotter than the sun and took a hard bristle brush the sort you would use to sweep a stone patio and made sure not an inch of me was left without scrubbing. The Lavender soap forced against my every bone and fleck of skin, leaving my skin feeling dry and tight desperate for moisture. She Got to the last spot and without a word forced my ribbon off my neck.

"NO!" I yelped covering my neck with my hands, breathing fast and fighting the urge to scream,

"Just this once, allow me this for today miss." She pleaded, 

I sighed as I knew how important this night was so I moved my hands, and allowed her to do so. But the moment she was done I tried my ribbon back in its bow. By the time she was done with my body, my water was almost cold but this was only halfway through her cleaning. She grabbed a brush and jug and poured the water over my hair, she used shampoos, conditioners, and brute force to ensure my hair was in the absolutely best condition it could be in, making my hair as long and straight as possible. 

"Come out," She demanded, Holding my towel. 

I climbed out and wrapped my towel around myself, we both headed out into the main part of my room and she forced me to sit at my vanity mirror. 

She grabbed some lavender-scented lotion and covered me from head to toe with the lotion, she then took my perfume bottle and spritzed me from head to toe, she then took a clay mask and put it across my face working it into my every crevice, While the mask dried and did... whatever it was meant to do she worked drying my hair with another towel. 

My body had gone from feeling rubbed sore and dehydrated to suddenly sticky and greasy.

Finally, once my hair was dry she removed the mask from my face and that did... nothing, I see no difference. She forced me up to stand in front of my mirrors. 

She squeezed me into a pair of tights all the way to my waist she then put me in a pair of white cotton bloomers that reached my knees to my waist lacing them tight with a double bow, she then helped me to slip on my white stockings with a little black ribbon bow on each the top of which very nearly touched my bloomers, next she helped me into a small white cotton shirt, if it could be called that as it only really wrapped around my chest lacing down my back, and finally, for now, she took my most impressive red corset I clipped myself in at the front and held it with my fingers between the top sweetheart neckline and the skin of my chest as slowly but surely she laced from the centre of my back all the way to my hips, it was slow, painful and monotonous. As I watched my body be formed into this shape without much of a say in it, I kept breathing with each of her lacing movements as she instructed me making sure she didn't make it too tight as I would still have to dance in this. Finally, the last bow was tied. 

"Curtsiy," she demanded so I did as she said "Good, good. Not too tight?"

"No Miss."

"Good, Sit down." She said, 

So I walked back to my vanity and sat at the desk, She brushed my hair once again and then took a pair of curling tongs sitting them in boiling water before picking them up and wrapping my hair around them hearing it crackle and singe my hair causing this scent of burning hair to fill my room as one by one she curled the strands of hair required that would sit on my shoulders, Once they where curled she pulled half of my hair back and up into a braided spiral using one braided spiral to cross my head like an Alice band her hands a madness of hair, pins, tongs and tools to ensure my hairs cooperation as my hair was infamous for not cooperating with me, Miss Hardcastle or frankly anyone for that matter. Until the final touch for my hair. 

Miss Hardcastle left a moment leaving me looking at my reflection, I did look pretty I couldn't deny and the day was growing later and later, Soon enough she returned with a small metal and ivory box in hand. I froze up upon seeing the box, she set it on my vanity in front of me.

"I- I can't,"

"I'm sure today is a moment she wishes she could have seen, and I know if she was here she would want you to wear it tonight." She said as she opened the box.

To reveal the red stain interior and the hair comb, the comb itself is made up of small needle-style comb teeth made of well-polished silver, the top of the comb and scroll and foliolate openwork of silver encrusted with diamonds and pristine pearls, the centre set with a large oval emerald. 

It was my mother's hair comb, my father had it made for her as a replacement for an engagement ring, she wore always. 

She took the comb and set it delicately into my hair as a centrepiece of my intricate hair. I felt teary to think I wore something so crucial to my mother. 

But Miss Hardcastle forced my tears to end, as she came and plunked some hairs from my face with her tweezers which often made me fidget and complain, and slowly she applied some very basic make-up, powder, white for my eyelids, some sparkle for my cheekbones, rouge for my cheeks, and a red lipstick. 

Before at last as the evening drew close, we returned to my mirror she helped me into black flat dancing shoes, she took the petticoat tieing it around my now small waist and looping it around the corset ties, she fetched the large bird cage-like crinoline and tied that a little higher then my waist almost under my ribs, next was a small camisole mostly just around up underarms and chest just in case my dress was to fall, a small couple of rolls on my hips to give me back the shapelyness the corset had removed and another petticoat over my crinoline.

"Are you ready?" she asked, 

"As I will ever be," I answered, 

she nodded and moved to the wardrobe to fetch my dress,

I closed my eyes half from anticipation and half from fear I felt her slip the cotton dress over me and she aided me in slipping into the sleeves, she began to button the back and as each one was buttoned I felt more secure, more like the dress and I were becoming one. When she stepped away I opened my eyes. 

And saw a lady before me. 

No.

I saw my mother. 

I stood staring back at my reflection, my feet not visible, the hem turned over the hoop of my crinoline with two inches of gap between my dress and the floor with a line of handmade black lace, the gown skirt was large enough to pleat several times around me the fabric of black and white vertical stripes about two inches thick, a bodice that stopped at my hips with the same vertical stripes but mystomacher covered in the black lace that lined my hem, I had puff sleeves of the same striped fabric with the same lace around the hem too short to even reach my elbows, a white Bertha around my chest and shoulders with the same black lace around it. 

This dress had been tailor-made for me but I had never seen it until this moment, and I adored it. 

I knew most debutante dresses where white was the custom, as a symbol of your innocence and purity, your willingness to marry many would reuse debutante dresses later as wedding dresses, the white a symbol that they white as an eggshell is to spring forth as a woman into the world. I however chose specifically to have a dress that was black and white. 

White for my innocence, for purity, for the coming into a new life as a woman. 

And black, for the funeral and mourning of my life under my father's wing, his protection and the innocence I once held as a girl, now to fully understand the ways of the world and of men, for my life as a girl was truly over, and I would now and forever mourn it. 

Miss Hardcastle helped me to put on my white velvet opera gloves reaching my elbows as well as a pearl bracelet, she gave me another good spritz of perfume and adjusted my ribbon before she seemed to smile at me. 

"How do you look y/n?" She asked,

"I think... I look beautiful Lisa."

"You do, I know your father will be joyous, and I know your mother would be proud," she said her voice breaking as she choked up, she left my view to hide her tears. 

I couldn't help but be emotional at her reaction, given... Lisa Hardcastle had been more of a mother to me than my own. "Miss Hardcastle?"

"Yes, Miss?"

"Thank you, for everything."

"You are quite welcome, miss." She nodded, "Shall we miss?"

"We shall," I nodded offering my hand, she took it and led me out of my room, she took me to the stairs of the hall and I could hear people talking, music playing, and the lights and sounds of the party beyond. She patted my hand and went down the stairs herself, I kept out of sight adjusting my dress, my gloves, and everything I could as the sounds died down.

And for a moment there was silence. 

Only the sounds of my own breaths could be heard.

"Ladies, and Gentleman. I must first thank you all for being here tonight, the night is young but we can hope it grows older like a fine wine, We all know why we are here tonight and no it's not for the fantastic cognac. Tonight has been years in the making, and I couldn't be more proud to see it so, but... enough of an old man's rattling, It is my honour, my great pleasure, my unpronounceable joy to formally debut and introduce, My beloved daughter" He said, 

I held my breath as I took the first step, then the second for a moment I didn't want to go on, I thought to turn and run but I stepped down the stairs and into view of the party, the warm glow around the walls, the crowd of people waiting for me, this world that I had watched from the bannister tops, and hidden cupboards, this world of glamour, glitz and adult conversations, Now in this moment I was part of it. 

"Miss Y/n Everset!" 

I held my breath looking out to the glittering ballroom, to the many people who stood watching me, judging me, taking in everything about me like I was a prized pig at a fair. I tried not to panic or to look too breathless. Once I had stood for a good few seconds I walked down the rest of the stairs and took my father's hand. He kissed my hand and smiled widely, 

"You look so beautiful my sweet," he smiled, 

"Thank you, Father," I smiled as I dipped my knees to slightly curtsy,

"From this moment on, you're an eligible lady." He smiled, 

"I will do my best to do you proud father," 

"You're so perfect," he smiled, He led me to the centre of the floor where a space had cleared people filling to the sides, to make a dance floor in the centre of the room, 

I held my father's hand and gripped his shoulder lightly, as he took my waist and gently and slowly began our dance. The music was delicate and soft, our movements slow and dignified, I wanted to do him proud in, our this debutant dance, but I knew my father's abilities were not grand due to his age and health along with me being unsure the last time he danced. But I merely held my father close and danced with him enjoying what may very well be the last time I would dance with my father, as now I was a young lady and spending time let alone dancing with my father would from now on not come often. I smiled and enjoyed every moment of our dance, Until he moved away and kissed my hand once more. 

"Be a good girl, My sweet." 

"Yes Father," I nodded, 

He squeezed my hand and went to get a drink. 

For a moment, I stood completely alone surrounded by a sea of men, the music loud enough to let me know of time passing but not loud enough to concern myself, the glow of the chandelier hung over me as I waited for what felt like forever. 

The first man to approach me I didn't know his name, but he wore an impressive suit of black with a head of greying hair, I immediately I thought he was too old for me but I didn't react to my face,

"Miss Everset," he greeted, and I smiled in return, He bowed so I curtsied, he offered his hand so I allowed him to take it, and he pressed a kiss to my hand and we began to dance, he was gentle and careful with me, as if scared to touch me or tread on my toes, and as soon as the song finished he smiled and kissed my hand "Thank you, my lady," He nodded before he left and he was soon replaced by another man, 

My night went on like this being passed from man to man like some grand artefact for everyone to take a grander at, dancing in circles on the floor surrounded by the other guests, most of the men didn't interest me in the slightest a couple were handsome I couldn't deny and I did my best to keep an open mind to them all. 

I tried as my father suggested to to let my heart lead and my mind question but my heart only had one thing to ask, 

Where was Dr Dawkins? 

I didn't want to look for him, as it would only fuel talk, but still, no matter how handsome or kind a man was I couldn't help but think of him. 

When this man kissed my hand leaving me alone once again, but then I saw him. 

In front of me stood Dr Jack Dawkins, in a well-shined pair of black oxford shoes, some pressed black trousers, a crisp white shirt, a white tie looped twice around his neck, a cream waistcoat over him buttoned up tight, a black jacket over him, and his hair well fixed and brushed down. His smile wide as he approached me, he made a show of his bow to me which made me giggle so I did a bit of an extravagant curtsy back to him. 

"Miss Everset," He smiled as he took my hand and kissed it,

"Dr Dawkins," I smiled doing my best not to smile too wide even if I couldn't help the blush flooding to my cheeks, 

"If I may have the pleasure?" He asked 

"You may," I smiled, "Gloves must be on when dancing with a lady Jack," I whispered,

"Ohh, Do excuse me I do not have mine tonight do you think you may make an exception for me?" 

"For you," I nodded,

"Thank you Y/n," He smiled as he took my hip bringing us closer which made me blush a little,

"I get the feeling you are going to break all the rules this evening Dr Dawkins." I smiled resting my hand on his shoulder not his jacket 

"Ohh I plan on it," he smirked, "Do tell me if I miss one," he winked, 

As soon as our dance began I felt swept off my feet, he led me not like I was fragile and gentle but like he and I were one, limbs of the same creature, he was so attentive and his sweet smile never left his lips, I felt so safe, so protected but not unchallenged so, as at times I had taken charge to lead us in other directions or into spins and he happily let me do so, our dance would have been show-stopping is anyone had been watching us but most far too interested in the other couples who had taken the floor with us. 

"Oh- Sh- sorry." He muttered as he accidentally trod on my dress,

"It's fine, accidents happen," I giggled, 

"You forgive me?" he whispered,

"I do, as it's you," I whispered back, 

"You do seem to allow me far more liberties than your other suitors?" He smirked, 

"I wasn't aware you were a suitor of mine?" 

"I'm dancing with you aren't I?" 

"That's true," I blushed, "We should... probably stop dancing now," I said as we had been dancing twice as long as I had danced with anyone else, 

"Do you want to stop dancing?"

"No," I giggled, 

"Then we won't." He smiled tugging us a little closer, and we continued our dance.

I felt so happy like I was dancing on a cloud, like he and I were the only people in the world, like I could have stayed here in this moment, in his arms forever. 

But I caught a set of eyes, Miss Hardcastle, who was watching me.

So I put space between us and finished our dance, He looked surprised but the noticed her too,

"Ohh, Course. I don't want to get you in any trouble." He smiled, "It was a delight Miss Everset."

"It truly was Dr Dawkins," I smiled he took my hand and gave it a delicate kiss before he whispered, 

"Come for a walk with me,"

"I - I can't" I stuttered, "I am not to leave the ballroom unaccompanied and even my father is meant to escort me across the room." I blushed

"You won't be unaccompanied I'll be with you," 

"Accompanied by my family, not a suitor."

"So I am a suitor?"

"I think so," I nodded, "I'm sorry Jack, I would but-"

"It's alright, You want to?"

"I would if I could."

"Well, Play along." He winked, before taking me in his arms acting like he caught me, "Ohh my! she's exhausted." He said, 

I blushed but acted up using my blush to act flush and began to fan my face, My father and Miss Hardcastle ran over of course, 

"Ohh my goodness, Y/n are you alright my sweet?" My father asked very worried "She has been dancing all night."

"Ahh that'll be it, it's fine just simply the heat getting to the sir. I'm a doctor I'll take her outside and get her some air."

"Of course," He nodded, "Of course, see to it she gets some air doctor." 

Jack smiled and held me in his arms gently walking me out onto the porch, he sat me on the stone porch railing and then closed the door behind us. 

"Shall we then?"

(oh there are also traitor spoilers for P5 in here, but I feel like anyone who has played P2 has also played P5 already lol)

so last night, I finished P2IS. the ending still hurts by the way lol. but i've had a bit of time since then to think about the game in retrospect. so i wrote up a thought dump with sort of my "initial" thoughts on the game on twitter. afterwards, i decided to repost it here but with more detail since i'm not constrained with a character limit the same way I am with twitter (it's still gonna be in bullet points bc I don't really want to structure this like an essay haha)

this game's ending really was brutal. this is the main thing I've commented on ever since finishing the game, but it truly is awful. Maya is stabbed and killed, Lisa can't even heal her with Dia no matter how much she tries. the Earth is destroyed by suddenly stopping its rotation, causing the resultant inertia to instantly kill everything. in the end, it just turns out to be a rigged game between Philemon and Nyarlathotep (god that name is hard to spell lol). and then the entire cast is forced to go back in time and forget their memories with each other and everything to prevent the world from ending again. it's truly a cruel fate for them, I really did want them to have a happy ending so it just really hurts. 😭

a lot of this game's moments hit hard due to how good the OST is. this has honestly gone up to being one of my favorite Persona OSTs, and given how strong its competition has been, that's a noteworthy feat.

the gameplay was ass lol. I can't pretend it was good, it's worse than P1 in some areas which is wild (still liked IS more overall though, 1 has some very questionable mechanics)

now apparently this is specific to the PSP version, but man the menus were so slow. thankfully I was playing on an emulator so I even had this option but I genuinely just sped up the game somewhat frequently just to get through the menus more quickly

it was also probably the easiest Persona game I've ever played. P5R is genuinely harder. i'm not even kidding. I've gone on and on about how easy P5R is (on twitter), but P2IS makes P5R look challenging in comparison.

the characters were great. i didn't think I'd care about them as much as I did. they all had wonderful bonds with each other. personally I felt like yukino was the "weak" link, and like she doesn't have the bonds the other do so it only makes sense. and even then? she has some great moments and is genuinely well written too. I had played P1 before this but yukino wasn't in my party so she essentially disappeared; it's nice to actually get to know her.

that said, I don't rly like how P1 and P2 both kinda hide extra character details behind very optional dialogue that's easy to miss. it's not nearly as bad in IS though bc they get more characterization in the main story, so a lot of the characters in IS resonated with me more on a first playthrough than 1's characters did.

I've heard some people say P2's shadow encounters are better than P4's. I'm not sure I agree with that at least just from IS, but I thought they were pretty competent. I did like that they built up to the shadow encounters throughout the game, it's an interesting approach.

...personally I still like the P4 shadow encounters more overall. I just also really like the way the IS shadow encounters were handled too especially in the context of the story.

the dialogue about personas and masks was really cool. I wish the new Persona games did acknowledge that everyone has multiple masks they put on. the only characters from P3-P5 who really explore this imo (as far as I can remember) are Rise and Akechi, and even then, it's not nearly as substantial as 1/2. Rise's arc is more about her accepting that she can have multiple selves that are all her, and with Akechi, while he has two different masks that represent both the facade he presents to society vs his true nature, it's just a case of facade vs true nature, whereas IS acknowledges that everyone has multiple masks they present to society that form a full self.

I personally wasn't too invested in the romance options, and the game clearly didn't consider them super important either seeing as they barely affect the story or interactions, but I really did like that Jun was presented as a genuine, serious option. also it's not like P3-5 where it's kinda subjective, I feel like Jun just fits the best especially in retrospect.

I now truly understand why newsona's mechanics (calendar, s.links, etc) wouldn't work at all. there's no room in the story for that.

I didn't think the pacing was the best tbh. it feels like not a lot happens at first, then they throw a ton of story at you halfway through the game, then a lot more near the end. it could've been distributed a little better. I hear EP is better with this though.

I do have a few issues with the way the plot was presented. tbh it was just a little absurd lol, and also revealing that the whole story was Philemon vs Nyarlathotep (again, tough name to spell lol) at the very end was kinda mid. maybe I'll like it more with the context of EP. but what really made the story for me was ultimately the characters and their development, not so much the actual events in the plot itself, if that makes sense.

I love the ending theme, kimi no tonari. when you realize that the sumaru city (and a lot of songs in the game) share the same general leitmotif it just makes you sad to hear them in retrospect 😔

Hey Lia! have you been doing well? I am actually partially aware of the rumor, and I'm interested in both games! I haven't played P1 and P2 but I've enjoyed a lot of the songs from the PSP version of P1 (Voice, Dream of Butterfly, A Lone Prayer, School Days etc!) and I know a little bit of P2's lore because my brother's played it and I asked him if it was good. He enjoyed it. So I have a good impression of both games!

My bro actually, he's the one that's introduced me to this series although he doesn't play it any more himself... P3 is his favorite game of all time and He says Shin Megami Tensei 4 is great too, making its place in second place (and he's played a lot of games so that's a lot coming from him!!) and these games stem from the same roots, don't they? Persona's started out as a spinoff of SMT.. from what I heard, P2 is still a lot like SMT(?) in terms of the vibe it gives? And I'm interested in SMT 4 and P2 after hearing what kinds of stories it offers from my bro. It seemed to have some interesting ideas!

Speaking of which, I tried playing P5X last night, and I somehow have a huge hunch that it not only has to do with P5, but P3(in terms of the water themes of the velvet rooms and the main objective-how people are acting really similar to how apathy syndrome works. *p3 spoilers but* I actually feel P3's protagonist COULD make it back in a world like this in theory because people are deprived of every desire, even that of death- but at what cost;) and P2.. I think it's got to do with P2 somehow. you know how 2 and 5 looks a lil similar when it's flipped? and X looks exactly the same upside down or sideways, P5X's world could might as well be P5's world but mirrored. OR/AND be P2's world after the aftermaths of P2's storyline(?) a fake reality made out of the P2 hero's desires or sth.. IDK I named my P5X's hero tatsuya because they look quite similar lol and wouldn't it be cool if he actually turned out to be related to him? This game then, could end up being a bridge between old and new persona games.

I'm going to publish this because who knows if I get this right? XD

Have you played P3 lia? I love that game! ;v; Oh gosh.. I can't bring myself to finish it though, I'm really going to miss it when I do. Tell me your thoughts about it when you do because I'm back deep in again and I really love the message of this story. There's a lot I find lovely and I'm sure it's a story that could lift a lot of people's heart and soul (the opening song is beautiful!)

Hey do you think you have any guesses on what arcana each character might be? I’d really love to see what your guesses are in one of our favorite topics for the characters and the game itself. 😁

Oh, it has been a while since I've talked about my own theories on that, hasn't it? Yeah, why not! This got long, so I'll put it under a cut.

Right off the bat, I'm still on board with the theory that the story teammates, at least, will reflect the arcana of the P5 characters they seem to parallel. I also don't think any arcana will be repeated, at least for the main Confidants (if they add more later, that could change). So for me, that means I think Wonder will be the Fool, Ruferu will be the Magician, Motoha will either be Lovers or Chariot, Shun will be the Emperor, and Riko will be the Priestess.

From there, I lean towards Motoha being the Chariot- it feels like the athletic aspects of her are treated as more important/significant in the story than the sort of popularity usually associated with a Lovers- and I think Tomoko might actually be the Lovers, given her indecision about what she wants to do now that she can't play baseball, and her crush on the protagonist (not that that's required for a Lovers arcana, but still). An additional bit of my reasoning for that is that Tomoko, who seems to parallel Shiho, is kind of an "extra" Confidant (since Shiho wasn't a Confidant at all), and then we're also "missing" a teammate (since Motoha seems to fulfill both Ann and Ryuji's roles to some extent), so it makes sense the "missing" arcana might go to an "extra" Confidant.

As for the others, the ones I have thoughts on off the top of my head:

I've talked about this one quite a bit, but I think Kiyoshi's probably the Moon

I forget who first suggested this, but I like the idea of Mont as the Strength. The tarot card itself is associated with courage and self-confidence, and reversed with self-doubt, weakness, and inadequacy, which feel like they could be themes in Mont's potential Confidant, given it'll likely center around how she used to be an ice skater but had to give up on it due to injury

Yukimi feels very much like an Empress character, if we don't end up having a Haru parallel in the main team. Mainly in her demeanor, but also her struggles with her mother and the Empress tarot card's connection to motherhood

Kayo feels like a good Hierophant candidate, as an older character looking after the protagonist (at least more than his parents currently seem to be), though I could also maybe see her Confidant going in an Empress direction if Yukimi isn't the Empress

Leon as the Star seems like sort of a given; it's possible they've changed it, but it does seem to fit his demeanor so far

Yui as the Hermit or maybe the Temperance? Hermit is an obvious speculation, given the Hermit in P3 is also one you connect with through an online video game, but I feel like this might get snapped up by a theoretical Futaba parallel in the story teammates. In that case, perhaps Temperance instead? I know this one's also a teacher's arcana (in P5), and I don't necessarily think Yui's really a teacher, but the arcana is associated with the merging of opposites, which could perhaps relate to Yui and whatever her real-world life is like (compared to her video game life). In the Persona series, the SMT wiki even points out that "these characters try to escape their normal lives by engaging in their hobbies", which really sounds like it could apply to Yui as well

The reasoning on this one is pretty loose, but as mentioned before, the Tower is my best guess for Riddle right now, mostly going on the fact that P5's Tower is also the only elementary schooler of the group (and, I suppose, P4's as well). We know so little about her theoretical Confidant right now, though, that it's really hard to say

Right now, given how they're introduced, I think Ikenami and Polter will both be story teammates, and I think between the two of them, Ikenami is more who I'd expect to be the Justice (has a reputation of some kind, like how Akechi was famous), and Polter seems more like a Hermit (she's kind of quiet, and doodles in her sketchbook, which are often associated with the "introverted art student" type character). It'd be super fun if they were the other way around (Ikenami as the Hermit and Polter as the Justice), though!

As for the others, for the sake of not leaving anyone out, here's my thoughts just purely on vibes + which arcana the above assignments would leave left over (Fortune, Hanged Man, Death, Devil, Sun, Judgement):

Seiji has Emperor vibes, but I don't expect them to repeat arcana, so I don't actually think he'll be the Emperor. Seiji also has Judgement vibes to me, relative to Eriko in P1 + P2, so if that arcana isn't reserved for a story role (like Sae Niijima having it in P5, or the changed group goals in P3 and P4), I could see him having it? Maybe Fortune or Hanged Man, if not

Yaoling feels Fortune-y to me, I dunno. I could also see Sun?

Sepia... maybe Hanged Man? Or... he's not goth enough, but maybe Death? Having any idea of what his Confidant's premise is (besides maybe something with fishing) would probably help me narrow down a vibe here haha

Puppet has Sun vibes to me, both in that she's a politician's daughter and Yoshida's a politician, but also something about her running away from home and trying to make it on her own and the Sun's association in this series with being in kind of a hopeless situation, but trying to make the most of it and achieve your goals anyway

If Liben, Wuhexi, and Jitianzhudai are all also teammates (story or Idol), then we sort of run out of Arcana, haha. Wuhexi seems the look the most like he could be a Death arcana, though who really knows, and I could kind of see Liben or Jitianzhudai maybe being the Devil, but I'm really going out on a limb there, and I'm not sure what that would leave the other one to be (probably one of the extra arcana- Aeon, Jester, Hunger, Faith, Councilor, Hope, or Apostle?)

well, i did it!!!!! i beat persona 3 for the first time ;v;

i have a lot of thoughts rn, this game really made me feel a lot of emotions and i honestly liked it a lot more than p4 and p5. the ost, characters, and story were all really strong, i think yall could prob tell how invested i was in this game by how much i've been playing it this past week fkdfskdfs oh, and i got decently close to maxing all the social links but i was playing mostly blind so unfortunately i did miss a few, but the ones i did max i really did love! there were some that weren't as good as others, but i think every social link was very solid, especially the ones that had a good message attached, or was gay as hell. also as a side tangent, kotone is my new favorite mc. like, ever. not just persona. i had no expectations going into this but her writing was honestly rlly good, she's such a caring girl but not afraid to throw hands to keep the ppl she cares about safe, and she is such a good leader!! also, can we talk about how GAY this game is?? literally no one told me how gay all the girls are in this sdfkdfsks there was so much hand holding.. so many dates.... so many borderline confessions....... my favorite ship for kotone is definitely saori but methinks she's also dating yukari, mitsuru, fuuka, aigis, and elizabeth. anyways i could go on abt this game all night.. like i didn't even get into the ending or specific moments/social links but you get the gist, this game is really special and i don't think i'll ever forget it, i really wish i had played it sooner and will recommend it to anyone looking to play a game with a strong and caring female protagonist with so much agency.. god kotone is amazing.

yep... been a pretty shit day for goro all around. agree on him being too harsh on ryuji, but it's just how he is—it'll take a long, long while before he sets his weapons down. right now he's around that stage where if he senses he said something too harsh/out of pocket, he'll apologize immediately (like when he snaps at ann for asking if he's okay), but his hackles raise QUICK when he feels threatened, i.e. haru.

RYUJI ABSOLUTELY SENDS HIM GOOD MORNING TEXTS EVERY DAY goro leaves him on read because man he just can't be assed.... on good days he'll reply with a "👍" and leave it at that LDMSKDJWK ryuji doesn't mind. he just likes showing off that he cares. he knows goro cares too.

im glad you liked their lil sequence at the end <3 because that's really what it feels like huh? wordplay in swordplay. even in canon everything they say to each other feels charged and filled with something More ... them dancing around each other is so, so much fun.

My Thoughts of FE Three Hopes

Wow, Arkus talking about 3H? What is this? 2018? Also talking about FE3H, I must have a death wish.

So before I start even talking I really want to put this disclaimer out here, especially when talking about the divisive nature of 3H, these are my OPINIONS. This is not a objective analysis of the game nor am I am claiming it to be. These are the thoughts I had playing this game. If you enjoyed it, good. If you didn't, that Is also good. You do not have to agree with me, but I am asking for people to be respectful if they want to engage with this. And if you do agree with me, please do not use what I say as an excuse to attack people with other opinions. I am not trying to personally attack or offend you if you like this game/character/plot point. This is my opinion of a piece of media. There is plenty of opinions of this game on the internet, all I am doing is adding my thoughts to the conversation.

Anyway, people might now I am generally more middling on 3H nowadays. I think its greatest strength was its character writing and its willingness to try different things even if I wasn’t a fan of them like the time management aspect. But I felt the social sim aspect and developmental issues behind the scenes resulted in a much uneven game and at times unfinished project. I’ve also looked back and realized a lot of its politics are not that great. Like the strength of the narrative is the character conflict, that you have these three forces who all want what is best for people like them with crests, and its very compelling drama where you see how much they care about each other, but just can’t agree. But step back from the context of the conflict, the issues aren’t really crests or even the church, but rather the feudalist system which is never really addressed in a major way (And we know you can be a rich noble without a crest). With most of the plot centering around a lot of people who are nobles. Heck, you have actual subjugated and colonized people and most of their plots are either treated as backstory or something to be resolved in their character endings (Even Claude and his anti racism isn’t that relevant in comparison to the strife of the crest bearers and their place in Fodlan). While I think characters like Dedue and Petra are good, the story of 3H is not their story. Like every ending still seems to maintain the system with slight alterations, the thing that’s changed the most is who is calling all the shots in Fodlan. Which isn’t uncommon for many FE’s that maintain a simple “The good lord is the good one to rule”, but given 3H attempts to ask more nuanced questions, it feels like it the political aspect is much more undercooked. Which sucks because anytime discourse about 3H happens it boils down to: “Church bad! Church good! Fascist! Not fascist!” when there is an actual discussion to be had about the issues of the internal politics of the game and how it relates to the status quo. But again, when it focuses on CHARACTERS the 3H story is very good.

But hey, now we have Three Hopes! A musou style game that is an alternate take of the 3H world with loads of extra content! Surely this will be able to scotch tape the issues with the original while also providing another three completely separate routes that are all satisfying on their own, right?

Well... not really.

Look, I know I’ve lost people when I said that, but from what I have seen, I think a lot of people wanted Three Hopes to be, Fodlan: The Definitive Edition. Give the people Three House with all the stuff it missed out. Like how Persona Royal is the definitive way to play P5 which not only improved the story in an organic way, but still let you experience P5 as it was. But 3Hopes isn’t that. 3Hopes is a completely alternate universe, with honestly so much variations, I would say trying to apply logic and revelations from Hopes and retrofit it to houses just clashes too much and doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. I see a lot of people try to apply stuff learned about in Hopes as being relevant to Houses, but I disagree with that. I feel like knowing about this in Hopes doesn’t retroactively fix the problems of Houses, and I feel some character are almost completely different so the application of this Hopes characters ideas and thoughts are relevant to the Houses version isn’t really fair. Overall, if you are just here for another game with the Fodlan kids though, I get why this has its appeal and its easily the better FE Musou while integrating more FE elements. But it is a spin-off and I am treating it as such.

Okay if you are still sticking around to listen to me ramble after that, let me just get positives I liked about the game out of the way first.

From a story standpoint, I like that this game is willing to fill in stuff from 3H that went either on addressed or was flat out ignored. Shez is better than Byleth in everyday and their relationship with Arval feels far more genuine than Byleth and Sothis. Yes their design is very “OC do not steal” but honestly, I prefer your MC to just be a mercenary that got made a student and not a teacher.

In terms of routes, I will touch on some subjects later, but I actually do believe 3Hopes did manage to make Edelgard in particular more compelling, by actually showing her weeding out the conspiracy in the Empire and centralizing her power rather than it being all off screen, as well as actually allowing her to do more dubious acts when wartime came which was one of my biggest issues with Crimson Flower as a whole as it was an antagonist route where they didn’t do a lot of the actually pretty bad stuff they did in other routes like making the Dukedom which empowered Cornelia. So using Bernadetta’s father as a pawn or saving Lenato as an act of good faith with manipulative undertones actually made Scarlet Blaze a better route. 

Speaking of routes, I quite like how 3Hopes was willing to basically say “This character could go any way in this war, and this is who is ride or die their lord.” I avoids some really weird stuff like Ingrid ever being on black eagles with the only reason being “The Professor told me to” and also adds an interesting layer with characters like Yuri or Dorothea who will do what is best for them and their groups. It also I think allows for more story opportunities like Felix and Sylvain backing Dimitri, Hilda and Holst tag teaming with Claude etc.

Rhea not just disappearing or getting captured also adds for her character to take a lot more initiative. Rhea is mostly passive in 3H with the exception of Crimson Flower. Which led to her character basically being a lot of speculations. And I don’t particularly care for discourse that ends up just being based on speculation. SO yeah, Rhea feels like more a character here.

The politics in 3Hopes are... still pretty bare minimum. I like more characters talk about policy more openly and address concepts like getting people involved in government and the only reason they are keeping lords around is to manage things until they are replaced. It doesn’t feel weighted on one side or the other: all lords get a chance to have an opinion. But again, it is something. 

Graphics wise, it is an improvement. It looks far better than 3H and the character animations, expressions and attacks look so much better. Like Im not even gonna say “Well its a Musou, I expect it to look good”, because I remember FEW, it didn’t look that great with some of its animations. 

That’s the positives out of the way. Lets get into the negatives.

So you know how I said the three routes in 3H generally feel unfinished or not as fleshed out as they could be? Well 3Hopes is the same. It adds more, but due the spin off nature again, it feels not quite finished. I think you should know what 3H is before playing it, but Hopes has just a lot of “because I said so” momentum to its plot. I understand it needs to get to next battle, but it also doesn’t feel super meticulous on its route system. So it really just feels like Fates where everything was already decided for me when I make the choice of what house to join. 

I do respect the game willing to just say that war and conflict doesn’t end no matter what choice you make, but it also just generally feels like you accomplish little when you beat the route big bad, but there’s not a real resolution.

Now while I think Edelgard became much more interesting character in Hopes, I feel like she also gets a worse treatment. Having things like Hagemon Husk and mind control forced on her really feels like its limp wristlet trying to avoid her doing her most ambitious acts, and generally not addressing her and Those who slither in a satisfying way and once again just focusing her sights on Rhea. I have never been a fan of Thales’s influence on the plot and boy it doesn’t becoming any clearer in this game. Scarlet Blaze again feels incomplete with Tharles and Rhea just doing themselves in feels extremely unsatisfying. And before you think I am picking on Edelgard, trust me I have words for all the lords. There was a lot of people upset with Claude in Golden Wildfire seemingly being so bent on killing Rhea as that was the only way to fix the system. While many have already pointed out how that is wrong and basically his own ending proves that conflict doesn’t just end when one figure head is taken out, I actually do think this showed an interesting thing about the perception of 3H characters. Claude is often called a schemer, but we don’t really see him take any duplicitous actions beyond not reveal his racial background. He’s honestly a pretty open guy, but one willing to be very observational which sets him apart from the very single minded Edelgard and Dimitri. However, Wildfire does make Claude much more manipulative in his actions with Edelgard and his murder of Rhea. But many found this out of character as it seemed as Claude is the one who always found another way. I think overall, Golden Wildfire is fine, but once again, it playing with a different Claude and I think that will effect some people.

And now we get to Dimitri. Who I think got the worst of it all. Dimitri is quite literally down a character arc. I like intro of actually feuding with his uncle, there’s definitely manipulation by Cornelia, but if you know 3H, Rufus has a bit of a point in his fear of Dimitri. But that really never comes. Boar Dimitri is primarily absent and we honestly lose the best part of his character journey, needing to learn his vengeance isn’t going to fix the issues his people are facing. That he must take that anger and make a better Faerghus as king. Im not against maintaining sane Dimitri, but it really feels like Azure Gleam is objectively trying to be the good route. Multiple characters like Miklan get a redemption, the Church sides with Faerghus, Claude and Dimitri ally with not manipulation by Claude, Edelgard is made into a puppet and saved by her adoptive brother and left in a state she is no longer a threat, and he still has his close friend in Shez. Like literally, Dimitri gets everything he wants with his mental issues never being an obstacle. 

Some have theorized that this was intentionally, this was the team creating a deconstruction of the concept of the golden route. That secretly everything happened is bad. But I don’t believe this theory. I believe due to Dimitri being the most popular lord, we saw a route where a lot of his edges were sanded down to give the player a more dream-like, almost Kaga era, style story of noble people over coming noble problems and magic bad guys in black robes was the real evil. Dimitri was already subversive of the standard Fire Emblem lord, he is Sigurd or Chrom that thinks powering your way through will make things right and then needs to be told that how he has acted is wrong. He went to edge and needed to be pulled back. And if not, he will ultimately die.

And speaking of characters, Sothis’s sudden change is... again not that well done. I like the idea of Sothis controlled Byleth and it works for Shez’s story, but its also super disconnected from any church stuff so it feels like another missed opportunity.

And of course there is the game play issues. For a musou game to be this many chapters, its generally monotonous. Some people love it and will never get sick of it, but I will admit when I am on my 3rd play through of the game, I was feeling like I had scene Shez’s ultimate attack a hundred times by that point.

So did I hate this game? no not really. Its an FE spin off game with completely different play style, the only thing I can compare it to is the last FEW which it is a lot better than. I don’t think Hopes and Houses should be treated as linked, they are clearly different takes on the same concept. I think I found myself liking Hopes when it pandered to me already knowing the characters. But I honestly still think Houses was the better way to experience these characters for all the faults I have with it. 

Overall, it is a not worth full price title, but I can’t say its awful. I think what it tries to do is commendable and if you just want more time with the Fodlan kids, I think you will love this. But I just can’t say I liked it myself.

Ace Attorney mbti (not a complete list because I haven’t finished the last two games yet)

I made one of these for p5 characters, which I don’t think anybody but me is interested in, but this is tumblr. Why are we here, if not for self indulgence?

(Also I’m sorry there’s no Athena, Blackquill, tgaa characters, etc! I didn’t want this post to get too long, and I didn’t want to type characters without knowing their full story. Maybe I’ll make a part 2 with everyone I missed!)

Phoenix Wright: ENTP

Phoenix has ne all over the place. He’s famous in-game for throwing out a million different possibilities in court to see what sticks, which is what sets him apart—I mean, the truth is never straightforward, and Phoenix never settles for the most obvious answer. That said, he’s also very analytical and strategic. He knows that a lot of scenarios he’s suggesting make no logical sense, but it’s worth considering, and it buys him time to piece together what actually happened. It’s most obvious in aa4 during his disbarment, how he can block off his emotions to make harsh, rational judgements, and doesn’t seem to consider how that affects Apollo. I get thinking that he could be an ENFP, given how much he cares about the human aspect of these cases and how strongly he stands by his morals, but thinkers care about people too! And the contrast between those types is clear next to…

Maya Fey: ENFP

Maya and Phoenix bounce their ne off of each other, which is why they work so well as a team. However, Maya doesn’t really care if anything she comes up with is plausible as long as it’s fun, which drives Phoenix crazy sometimes (he’s a thinker, everything has to MAKE SENSE). This isn’t to say that Maya is stupid! She’s brilliant, she just approaches things from a creative and emotional standpoint first (Will Powers can’t be the killer, he’s too nice! The Steel Samurai would never! I don’t have proof, I just FEEL IT. No Nick, I don’t care if the evidence points to him!)

Miles Edgeworth: INTJ or ISTJ, but I lean toward INTJ

Miles and Phoenix get on each others’ nerves partly because Phoenix will entertain any idea and Miles has tunnel vision. He comes to a conclusion and refuses to budge, then gathers (or fabricates) evidence to support what he’s already decided. I understand an argument for ISTJ given how he usually seems firmly grounded in reality, but I think that comes from te. Because ISTJ would require ne, which I just…can’t see at all, even as his inferior function. I haven’t had the chance to play the investigation games yet, but from what I understand, we see him find the underlying essence of the situation and piece together the most likely outcome based on what he can prove. He also says that he isn’t one for sentimentality, preferring to focus on the future, and that people can miss the truth entirely by only trusting what they see in front of them.

Apollo Justice: ISTJ

Apollo is the ISTJ poster child. His ability is literally si; close observation and gathering details to compare them to what he already knows to be true. His te wants structure in his life and his work (he’s surrounded by ne-doms though, so good luck 😵‍💫) and he likes playing by pre-established rules, so Phoenix’s whole ne/ti thing frustrates him sometimes, particularly in aa4 where he’s annoyed that Phoenix won’t be straightforward or use conventional methods to prove his innocence. He needs help seeing the big picture, but he gets there because of …

Trucy Wright: ENTP

She’s so much like her dad!! I won’t get too in depth with her because almost everything I said about Phoenix applies to her, too. Again, I see an argument for ENFP, but she’s a lot more analytical than people give her credit for, and she can detach from emotion much more easily than an ENFP. The murder of her father and the accusation of her uncle is obviously difficult for her, but she isn’t concerned in the moment with how the outcome will make her feel, and she doesn’t linger on how any of her family drama has impacted her. She’d rather take care of others’ emotional wellbeing and she sometimes feels responsible for them, which is tert-fe.

Klavier Gavin: ENFJ

BIG fe-dom. He connects with people so easily, he cares a lot about his image, he switches his stance on a case based on what will have the most positive impact on everyone involved. He was able to be manipulated by Kristoph because his brother’s approval was so important to him. But he always had a nagging feeling that what he did to Phoenix was wrong and that Kristoph couldn’t be trusted, because something just felt off. His tert-se shows in him gladly playing the role of the impulsive, artsy rock star archetype, which is clearly a genuine part of who he is, but he has much more foresight than an se-dom usually would.

i do play things pretty fast SDKDFLS i've found that if i don't like. race through as fast as possible i'll end up leaving things unfinished for forever. glances at my p5 playthrough and glances away LOL. played practically nonstop, hit okumura's palace, had to leave my pc for a long weekend, and just. never picked the game back up again whoops

YEAHHH eagle among lions is like. my most anticipated fic that i put on the read later list SDJFLKSD i'm saving it for once i finish all the routes to make up for the fact that i won't have any more routes to play hahah. and HMM... i thinkk the fics that i'd most recommend are child of light by riahk, ghosting by greyimperia, homeroom (or, if we're not recruited in 15 minutes, we're legally allowed to leave) by Schistosity, and let the devil in by greyimperia. which are, respectively, a mercedes character study (speaking of mercedes, she has absolutely rocketed up my rankings. i love her), a linhardt character study, byleth recruits everyone possible (barring hilda) on a blue lions run so edelgard, hubert, claude and hilda have homeroom together and develop a friendship, and uh. not super sure how to describe the last one? but i liked it! it's a one-shot about the lords. inspired by we know the devil if you've played that game.

funnily enough none of those are the time travel fics i've read but i can't like. seem to find the best ones i read?? i didn't spend a ton of time looking through my history tho so if i find them later i'll send another ask lol.

yeah i definitely get that :/ haven't experienced that Too much yet with fe3h but i'm sure once i start searching for more specific dynamics barely anything's gonna turn up :(

YEAH. YEAH ON THE INGRID STUFF. idk maybe im overreacting or misremembering stuff but i feel like since we're both saying similar stuff i'm probably not like. seems like the nightmare scenario! idk it also really bothers me that sylvain and ingrid's paired ending is like. mostly about sylvain's political situation and then tacks on at the end "and he couldn't have done it without his wife and they had many kids" (paraphrased) like. okay :| uncomfortable!

and yeah the game sort of plays up the whole. ingrid as the one responsible for sylvain and felix but it's REALLY the fan emphasis on that that i've seen which bothers me. like they reallyyy like to shove her into the mom friend archetype. idk.

yeah berniegard is semi popular!! i definitely have some art of them in my queue sdjfls. i thought their b and c supports were pretty standard and enjoyable, but their a support (which i've now seen lol) was really good. not one of my absolute favorites, but definitely up there! i can see why this pairing is popular.

MAN. YEAH on the marianne supports thing. AND. YEAH about dorothea and marianne..... as soon as i noticed that they both had themselves in their dislikes my mind IMMEDATELY went to their potential dynamic.. i also really like a potential marianne/edelgard dynamic just based off of her dialogue about edelgard in cf??? like i'm gonna be mad forever about their nonexistant support chain. also marianne and mercedes.. those two were always at the cathedral praying you're telling me they couldn't have a conversation about faith? and like. mercedes can Read people and she has a desire to help people.. the supports could've been so good.... similarly i think dorothea and mercedes should've had a support chain. and mercedes and edelgard. maybe i'm just shoving my favorite girls together in different combinations but like. the potential is there who can blame me!! and YEAHH you're absolutely right about marianne and lysithea!! genuinely it feels like the a support is missing for those two :/

and yeah despite having sylvain attack felix i didn't even get their special dialogue :( apparently you can only get that one on CF and not VW? well. there's always next CF run :) and yeah that was where mercedes showed up! the caspar linhardt dialogue is. sad. as is the mercie annette dialogue which i also didn't get? that one, based off the wiki, it seems Can occur at the gronder battle on VW, but maybe because they were fighting i didn't get it?? not sure. but i watched it on youtube and it makes me sooo sad. but truly NOTHING makes me sadder than having dorothea kill ferdie especially considering her monastary dialogue after???? awful. petra and edie have the standard eagle vs edelgard dialogue but i feel like petra's political position makes her landing a hit on edelgard like. extra juicy lol. i would've had dorothea also do it but a) she was too far away and b) i still felt bad for having her kill ferdinand.

YEAH SDJFDLDKJ I WAS. not expecting to s support sylvain LMAO but. well! it's kind of funny i made the decision IMMEDIATELY after waking up from getting my wisdom teeth out??? like i was telling my mom about it in the waiting room they put you in before letting you leave. so i'm gonna say s supporting sylvain was a side effect. i did end up enjoying his s support + paired ending though!

as for silver snow, i thinkk you get to keep your class, barring edelgard and hubert? and YEAH it's that particular bond that i sort of envisioned when i first played cf and got to the branching path (as well as seeing dorothea's character shift post-timeskip) that largely held me back from s supporting her on vw. and YEAH the incentive is for SURE needed. i do notttt want to side against edie :(( and i haven't enjoyed siding with the church!! but i hear you get a lot of insight into byleth on that route and i am interested to see all that for myself.

YEAH ashe and marianne can support and it's very sweet! which makes sense since i mean. it's ashe and marianne. caspar and annette's supports, without going into spoilers, do a good job of showing caspar in a more like... competent/insightful light which i've found tend to be my favorite caspar supports. like yeah he's great for comedy but i like when he's taken seriously. and their dynamic is very sweet as well. and yeah shamir is a former mercenary i think?? yeah a lot of leonie's endings are. not the greatest? without spoiling specifically, either she's with someone i do Not want her to be with, it doesn't seem in-line with where her character would naturally progress, or it's just very bittersweet? but her ending with shamir was super in character and seemed relatively happy so. and YEAH i get that for leonie i wasn't really sold on her until post timeskip really? i think also the fact that i'd seen a lot of hate for her beforehand had me prepared for her to like do something bad or be Super annoying and then when she was like. fine. i was like huh i think im gonna like her more. out of spite.

im honestly a major fan of a lot of the nonromantic paired endings but this one was just.. i really think it was the fact that maya was completely offscreen that bothered me. and the fact that their supports weren't like, majorly about her?

yeah annette's songs are sooo silly i love her sense of whimsy and her dynamic with mercedes is sweet! weirdly enough i like their dynamic outside of their supports more than i like the supports themselves, with just the two of them hanging around the monastery together + their dialogue in azure moon cutscenes and stuff. their supports weren't bad or anything, i just felt like their fight was a little awkwardly pulled off, and i feel like there's probably more substance you can get from a potential support chain for these two considering they're one of a handful of duos who have a close history before the monastery.

and ah i get that and i hope that if you want to play the game more, you get the chance to!

i ended up recruiting ferdinand, bernie, leonie, marianne and raphael. planning to get dorothea as soon as i raise my charm! i'm alsooo raising linhardt to b support and if he asks to join my class i'll let him, but i'm not raising the reason skill to get him lol. i kind of want to recruit him bc i miss him, but i don't want too many recruits, so my compromise is leaving it up to chance.

as for hilda.. yeah her supports with byleth have her mentioning a LOT that she just. doesn't get the concept of dying for someone else. and then if you kill her in cf i think claude says something about how he told her to retreat.... much to think about. i think that may have been my biggest character defining moment for her, but i also loveee all of her supports where people sort of. see through her in a way? so her a support with claude and her b support with sylvain are some of my favorites (and she absolutely reads them right back which. again. i love that). and i'd consider those sort of character defining moments for her as well, if not to the same degree and not quite the same thing.

YEAH LMAO LORENZ... i feel like. i definitely see hints of what could be redeeming qualities in him but like... yeah. eventually i'll go through all of his supports, because it's not like i Like disliking potentially interesting characters but like. the dude does NOT make a good impression.

YEAHHHH THE SUNSET MOMENT WAS SO GOOD.... so was the part of their c support where marianne like. apologized for being a bad conversationalist and ignatz was like. "there's no need to apologize, if we'd been talking we would've missed these flowers!!" like. idk ignatz isn't a standout character to me but he's so sweet.. like that's my friend ignatz!! yeah annette and claude have supports!! featuring more of annette's singing. and claude singing i think! they're fun. YEAH SDJKSD sylvain's supports are pretty interesting across the board. and i def get why he wouldn't be your cup of tea LMAO, like.. based on your blog, he doesn't really line up with the sorts of characters you usually seem to get attached to lol. but yeah his supports usually do a good job of showing a different side of his character than much of his other dialogue, especially in the early game (can't speak for post timeskip am obviously). idk there are maybe three characters i got Really attached to before actually playing their route and he's one of them. the others being marianne, mostly due to her paralogue, and annette honestly just based off of general vibes once i'd recruited her.

YEAH CLAUDE AND MARIANNE'S A SUPPORT.... idk i really love how he goes from pushing her a bit to recognizing her boundaries and instead offering reassurance and understanding without crossing them.... so sweet. and YEAH marianne on the end art makes me soooo happy. yeah leonie and claude's.... b support i want to say?? was the two of them discussing religion and stuff and at the end claude's like "hm some people might call this conversation sacrilegious huh" and leonie's like "yeah probably. good thing i don't care and won't tell anyone though" and i just thought that was fun. MAN YEAH marianne laughing at the end of her and hilda's supports was The highlight of that support chain to me....

thank you i am enjoying the lions route so far!! playing white clouds for the third (kind of the fourth, if you count me watching my brother's playthrough lol) time in like. a month? month and a half? idk how long it's been actually.... ok checked and it's been a few days past a month?wow. anyway. playing it That many times has gotten me moving through it a bit slower, although i did play quite a bit today and i've gotten to chapter seven :) i am enjoying the lions! i could see before that white clouds was lions centric in a lot of ways but. man. it is sooo lion centric. i'm not like, super complaining about it? i mean. sylvain annette and mercedes are all probably in my top 5 characters. i am really liking dedue, ashe is sweet, i have Some complicated feelings surrounding ingrid but she is SO interesting to me (man her relationship with knighthood plus the ways you can view her character thru lenses of gender and sexuality..... what a character). while felix isn't my favorite he's still very well written and interesting. and honestly i'm enjoying dimitri more than i thought i would? idk my initial impression of him was very meh and then due to like. the way a lot of people who hateeee edie like. LOVE him gives me the kneejerk reaction of oh well i'm not gonna like this guy. but i'm enjoying him so far! he's like, middle of the pack of the lions for me, but that's still pretty good all things considered.

and man. side note because if i let myself get into it for real i'll get frustrated but. goddd the takes i've seen about edie just going through her character tag........ awful. i've blocked sooo many people already SDFJSL.

YEAH. i do NOTT enjoy siding with the church. eugh. i'm probably not gonna do another replay soon after i finish this playthrough, my silver snow run, and my second cf run, so either i play cf again first (because i miss edelgard and hubert and i don't like the church) or i play silver snow first so that i don't leave off on like. a silver snow playthrough LMAO. who knows.

anyway! i'm torn this playthrough between s supporting dimitri and mercedes because well. mercedes is self explanatory (i love her), and dimitri has the appeal of being like. central to the story as the lord? the thing is i probably won't replay am for a WHILE after this, if i do at all, so this is like my Shot to s support him? and i like seeing the supports myself rather than watching them on youtube or something. so i'm probably gonna do that, assuming i keep enjoying his character well enough (because like. based off of fanart and uh. the general vibes of my last playthrough, his character shifts post-timeskip). and then i'll probably end up s supporting mercedes on my next cf run :) because other than mercie (and dorothea obviously) i think the only other character i really want to s support is hubert?? and like i love him don't get me wrong but. mercie outranks him. and i will probably replay cf a third time eventually because that's probably gonna be my default route on subsequent replays once i've experienced everything once. still who knows how things will shake out i mean. last time i said i wasn't gonna s support sylvain and then. look what happened. so we'll see.

not too much going on with my playthrough other than that! i mean. it's white clouds a fourth time. not too many things to say about that. mercedes cheerfully supporting church sanctioned executions caught me off guard like. that was funny. i disagree with her on that but i did burst out laughing the delivery was sooo funny for what she was saying. and annette is fun in the lions cutscenes :) and as for supports... I LOVE DEDUE...... his supports with annette are so sweet so far, as are his supports with ashe.. liked the sylvain dedue c support as well! liked annette and dimitri's c support.. OH ingrid and ashe's c support is SOOO good. i got leonie and bernadetta's c support for the first time and it was surprisingly good for a duo i did not expect to have supports. similarly, i got felix and leonie's c support for the first time and liked it. im probably blanking on some of the supports i've gotten but like. idk. these are the ones i remember enjoying!

DOROTHEA AND MARIANNE'S DYNAMIC WOULD BE SO..... IT WOULD BE SO CUTE I THINK...... esp since dorothea seems to rly enjoy hyping ppl (esp the girls) up... and thats absolutely something marianne needs and deserves. plus dorothea is pretty emotionally aware and has her own experience w/ depression (esp post timeskip) so i feel they can both bond over that......if that makes sense. i just love the m so much. YESSS I FORGET THE SPECIFIC DIALOGUE BUT I REMEMBER MARIANNE MENTIONING SOMETHING ABT EDIE'S STRENGTH OR SOMETHING IN CF?? TRUEEE .marianne and ashe are both super sweet they r very good, so i can only imagine how well they r together. and oooooh yeah? im glad they have some of those moments for caspar then... and that his and annette's supports shine a light on that side of him! def can not wait to watch them myself. of course comedic / comedy characters are needed and deserved and stuff but like...like you said, its nice when theyre taken seriously. esp if their whole Thing is being the "goofy" / "unserious" one yk. yeah shamir being a former mercenary sounds right but i couldnt remember. and oh yeah? i didnt realize that a lot of leonie endings were Bad. ive only looked at her and ignatz's but i cant remember it much. bu tmmm, i see. i dont rly think abt leonie much / im not that attached to her so its interesting to see what you think! sorry that most of her endings fall into 1 of those 3 categories :/ glad that her ending w/ shamir was one of if not th ebest one for her!!! HER SONGS R RLY SILLY !!!! and i lvoe how that was like a focal point of her and felix's supports. they were quite cute actually dkfngdgf and that was like one of my first felix supports ever so my initial impression was that. oh! ok hes not that much of an asshole! i was wrong lmao. hes an interesting character and all and i understand where hes coming from but just. yeah man idk. but all that aside, his supports w/ annette were fun and cute. but no youre absolutely right abt mercie and annette, their fight didnt seem ? realistic whatsoever. like i get it but ????? was that something shed legitimately get upset and say they weren't friends over? and you're right, there was def a lot more that couldve been done considering they met so long ago. i DID however like how annette was like. in their A support. mentioning stuff like "ohh now dont say anything like how you dont deserve good things!" or something along the lines of that and like...i think it gives us a little more insight into mercie's character and why she does what she does

i dont remember what i said but i def want to play more! its just <////3 i wanna enjoy the experience and things havent been as enjoyable for me lately yknow? so im waiting for a time that i DO and CAN enjoy things again. but who knows when that'll be LMAO hopefully after this vacation ill be able to get back into viddy games as a whole :]

ah okay! so the recruits are rather balanced, aside from the black eagles (as it should be)! good luck raising your charm to get dorothea the beloved!!!! and hopefully linhardt randomly chooses to join your class...i enjoy when the characters come to you in the middle of the week to ask. its cute. its a fair compromise, but ill be over here secretly hoping that he does join your class!

AH okay so it was in hildas supports w/ byleth... its been. a LOOOONG time since i watched most of byleth's supports w/ the golden deer, so im not too shocked that i forgot abt that. ANDOOHHH RIGHT I THINK I REMEMBER CLAUDE SAYING THAT ABT HILDA TOO..... that's so ): it rly shows the bond shes created w/ claude fr. and thats real sweet. oooo i didnt realize that sort of seeingf through the mask thing happens w/ sylvain too. but i suppose it makes sense w/ sylvain...considering how he is and all. theyre both actually quite similar huh? theyre both a lot more perceptive than they let people believe. thats real cool. so thats nice that they have supports w/ each other , i didnt know that!

YESSS BOTH OF THOSE MOMENTS ARE SO SWEET.... and youre absolutely right abt ignatz. i didnt necessarily get attached to him but i LOVE what he is and what he is is certainly one of the sweeter characters. and i love that for him. YERAH I FEEL THAT LMAO. none of the characters are safe from shitty af takes (esp the girls) just recently went into the dorothea tag and was BOMBARDED by hate from this one loser. sorru that youve seen so many things just by going through her tag :/ i HAAATE wben ppl tag stuff like that w/ the main tag, ESP if its hate. pisses me off. but yeah. attleast theres filtering and blocking. ive just straight up blocked edie critical or fiuicking whatever already. sooo dumb!
