i think the janitor would stay in NRC as long as possible because of those reasons. they have no identification, no citizenship, little money, and a lack of understanding of how this world functions. as much as they think theyre a rough and tough survivor, i also think their biggest weakness is an unwillingness to try new things. what theyve been doing works so theyll stick with it until it no longer does and when their luck eventually runs out, they will probably panic and have to start over from the beginning all over again.

a BIG issue with them 'post graduate' is if the janitor and co are able to either beat or avoid malleus' overblotting entirely. i believe it is possible to avoid it or at least lessen the severity of it because the janitor starts off pretty close to the diasomnia quad in comparison to the original yuu who stuck close to the other first years. while sebek is a difficult nut to crack for the janitor, malleus, lilia and silver are much easier to befriend and get close to.

malleus is an easy win. he was the janitor's first friend (other then grim) in twisted wonderland, so theyre both pretty close and have get togethers once a week.

lilia grew close to janitor fast because they will actually eat his food and hand him an empty tuperware container back for more. theyre also a bit wiser (and potentially, per the reader's judgement, older then yuu) so theyre probably able to vibe with lilia better then yuu could.

silver and janitor got pretty friendly when they had to help him in between classes due to his spelldrive injury due to ruggie's meddling.

and i think with how adamant the janitor would want to go home, the topic of leaving and loss would be an actual conversation and argument that would happen earlier on between malleus and the janitor and less something that gets bottled up until an overblot occurs. idk though! id never want to downplay lilia's role in malleus' overblot because its incredibly precious and sweet and ugh i love found family but i think it would help malleus out better if he wasn't like. bombarded with things that triggered his fear of abandonment during the same week lmao!!

i uh went on a tangent. but. depending on how close they get, i could see the janitor either leaving to the scalding sands with kalim, becoming a glorified cheka sitter with leona, or staying in briar valley with malleus. can you tell i have ships in my head? lol

Astarion’s relationship with you was strange from the very beginning.

During the tiefling party, he decided to strike. Offer himself to you and lead you down a path for his own safety. He was convinced you’d give yourself to him, he saw how you looked at him. Your eyes said more than any other part of you could.

So, why the bloody hell did you reject him? He managed to conceal his frustration and go on with his night. Perhaps you wanted a piece of Lae’zel, or Gale—it didn’t matter. There was still hope you’d come back.

And come back you did. After the party, you came to his tent with sweet bread. For yourself, of course. You promised not to give him any after he expressed distaste.

Thus, began his relationship with you. Rather than sleep with him, or another member of your camp, you wanted to sit and…spend time together. Talk once the rest were fast asleep, laugh about the little dents throughout your journey together.

He never experienced anything like it. People would come to him, take and take and take. Never was he given something so small, yet so meaningful.

Despite being a vampire, he experienced many firsts with you.

My idea with the sweet tooth is a bit similar in the sense that it’s psychological, but not exactly really the same

I've been meaning to ask if you have any opinions about The Goddess. I feel like a lot of the more recent Warlock stuff is kinda trying to ignore that she existed :')

so i finally finished infinity crusade and am in the last stretch of infinity watch. finished it abt a week ago bt i wanted to let it marinate in my head a little before saying anything. this is the first time im talking abt smth so recent to me so this will be a lil undercooked wrt my thoughts and very meandering, but i think the act of writing this out will help me anyway loll, it usually does

right away. infinity crusade spoilers obvs.

first of all ill talk abt ur last comment there, and i wanna ask fr further clarification on what exactly u mean by that bt ill just cover both things i thought u meant anyway.

so its pretty obvious that the goddess represents the past, right. warlock is the present, magus is the future. thats why the goddess isnt present in things like the magus is. her stuff is already over. warlock isnt going to revert coz hes already here as he is, the man that he chose to be (transmasc W!).

the goddess is his previous incarnations that were a woman. now that itself is a very interesting topic i wish theyd touched more on bt i also think its good that its kept vague (or at least i hope it is) coz the room to speculate is what makes it fun to think abt. the goddess is a version of him that no longer exists. in fact i think theres a strong case to view this all thru the lens of transmasculinity in general, as a trans man myself i see it like the goddess being yourself before you Knew. i used to have thoughts like 'maybe she wouldve been happier. but it wouldnt have been me. it would have been someone else.' thats what the goddess feels like to me. and magus feels a lot like the childish toxic masculinity of throwing ur weight around as a man for the first time, compensating for what u cant quite believe u truly are.

warlock is the one who is comfortable with both halves, hes chosen to be a man but has accepted that these stereotypical gender roles are arbitrary and unhelpful.

anyway as for the other thing u couldve meant, her being ignored in the actual narrative as never having happened? to be fair im not sure how she would be involved unless it was part of the story of the other 'perfect humans' and i havent rly gotten to them yet! ive seen Her but not as she returns as ayesha, and i havent seen the others yet either. but i dont see why the goddess shouldnt be involved with them in the future (assuming she isnt already). adam and the goddess are technically the same being but theyre not the same person in the way that warlock and magus are. so i think broaching that topic w the actual women seems like the way to go? again especially seeing as Her is also very transgender. they are ALL trans to me btw because theyre nonhumans who are adopting to the human gender binary, which makes them inherently trans. but some will have a stronger case or allegory to project than others, is more what i mean. bt again, i havent gotten to them yet so i rly cant say a whole lot. id like to come back to this tho once i have.

anyway, that stuff aside... where to even start.

i DO love that they keep a balance w morality/intent even tho they say that magus is evil and goddess is good. magus wants infinite life and a deathless world, goddess wants pure nothingness and death for all. and both perspectives do make sense. what the goddess wants Would mean an end to all pain, and like the magus, shes lashing out in frustration at adam for not seeing and accepting all the sides of himself. though in her case, adam just didnt know she existed at all. generally i also love that adam's whole Thing is that hes obsessive and swings wildly between extremes and magus+goddess both represent these extremes. theyre him dialled up to 11. in that way the goddess is the perfect counterbalance to both warlock and magus. bt hey starlin's understanding of the character he essentially Made (obviously not made as a fictional character but Made him into who he is) is really impressive to see every time, love the way he writes things as character studies first.

i also love the implication that adam was Supposed to have a childhood. and that the gotg cartoon that i loved for its depiction of adams origins is actually way closer to canon than id thought!

it could be elaborate headcanon bt to me this means that every previous incarnation of himself grew up from being small, and his most recent birth at the enclave is an outlier. a sort of trapping of his soul or smth. which actually makes more sense considering later on when magus is also reborn as an actual child.

Japan — japan misses his (father? mother?) parental figure greatly. the fact that JE died in such a violent and tragic way so suddenly when japan was still young but old enough to remember has made it hard for him to come to terms with both the death of JE and the fact that JE had done such horrific crimes. she has an entire garden spanning a temples landscape dedicated to JE and their memory that she tends to as a way to cope but also as a way to memorialize JE and honor them. because unlike most others in his position japan still refuses to acknowledge or think too long on JEs wrongdoings. maybe its because its just too hard for him or maybe its because he thinks its disrespectful. she doesnt want to disappoint them. even in death. she will make sure their legacy isnt tainted.

Also 3rd trial rewrite idea where himiko is Angie's culprit but it was an accident and before they figure that out theyre still fighting with kiyo on tenko. Then monokuma reminds them of the rule that tenkos murder doesn't even matter and kiyo and shuichi are both pissed cause kiyo just wasted a seesaw murder and shuichi wasted his time. Before Kiyo properly responds Everyone's "That's Probably A Trap" instincts go off and they don't like kiyo but they also realize losing 4 PEOPLE AT THE SAME TIME is terrible so they have a mini argument where they have Kiyo talk about his sister and Shuichi needs to use his own words to prove that she is not someone worth going back to. For example, Korekiyo says she is loving and graceful only for Shuichi to point out how controlling she was in all aspects of his life, down to his clothes. At the end of the argument, Korekiyo is on his 4th crash out and asks Shuichi something along the lines of "if she didnt love me then what was she doing". The question isn't answered and he repeats it over and over and over until he turns around, falls to the floor, and takes his hat off to cry into his suit because his entire world has just been shattered and the one person he thought cared about him and the only person he's let himself care about didn't even fully see him as human (which also reflected on him not seeing himself as human and trying to separate himself from humanity but. Topic for another day). They find out Himikos the true blackened without Kiyos help and she is executed (not boiled, maybe cut in half like those magic tricks but taken more extreme in a danganronpa way). Anyway after the class trial they don't see kiyo for like a whole day and once monokuma forces him out of his lab he has his hair messily cut, his mask nowhere to be seen, and put on clothes from one of his displays. Mkulia headcannons

• MK has forced Julia to play every single FNaF game known to man, official and fanmade, and watch the movie

• They sit in the parking lot at Walmart and people watch

i NEEED people writing vg critical posts in the main tags to at least stop pretending that they're being smart and doing a proper analysis when they don't even cite their sources. Saying something in a pseudo-intellectual sounding way does not make it true. Like, if you want to commit to criticizing this game almost 6 months after its release, then you've had more than enough time to actually familiarize yourself with the source material, instead of re-chewing the same fictional version of the game that you invented in your own head.

The game is not beyond criticism, so by all means, go at it. But actually engage with the source material. No, reading other critical posts without any thoughts of your own doesn't count. No, breezing thru the game Once without paying attention to a good half of it does not count either.

why do people immediately write the game off as 'sanitized' just because it has a hopeful undertone to it? Why are we equating kindness and hope with weakness and childishness?

Like, explain it to me like i'm 12. Why do we automatically assume that having an option to be a dick in a game makes it more complex or interesting? Why do we assume that if your character is not being called slurs every second conversation, there is no difficult topics being tackled in the game?

Why do people feel the urge to rewrite a character that is Genuinely Just A Good Person to make them 'more interesting'??

Someone choosing to see the good side of things is not automatically naive. They are not automatically shallow in their characterization. Why does complexity have to come from the capacity to do evil? from cynicism?

It's not just something i've seen re: veilguard, either. There is a certain tendency to assume that kind, compassionate people are weak and childish, and that they're only that way because they've never experienced any hardship in their life. Why is it so hard to believe that some people experience the world with all its hardships and Choose to remain hopeful? Choose to do good??? I genuinely do not understand this. One is not more complex than the other. They're just different flavors.
