oh man, personally I don't think I'll ever be able to view ozai as a good person, so like fire family as wholesome to me is still kind of not great. but obviously not as bad as canon.

first I think he would tell zuko, totally not because he trusts him more ofc, but because he has blackmail on dear ol zuzu to make sure he doesnt snitch if he doesn't take it well.

zuko wouldn't even learn about the blackmail cuz he would be pretty accepting right off the bat. like to him this would be one of the few times his sibling is actually opening up to him instead of just messing with him like usual. so he would think of it like a secret mission to help his brother get guy stuff, que a blue spirit type montage. he'd probably even see if he could get black market testosterone or something crazy like that before zoryn put a stop to it lol.

I think that zuko, seeing his brother seemingly trust him with something serious would start to open up more as well about his own issues. which initially zoryn would be like why are u talking to me 😐 but eventually they would become closer.

which is ofc all a part of zoryns plan, after all their parents would be more likely to agree to his transition if zuko was backing him up! well okay only ursa, but still. and if things went totally wrong, he could probably now manipulate zuko into running away with him/get him kicked out as well. if he's gonna be worried about potential homelessness then it'll be better to be accompanied.

but that's like last case scenario cuz hes been squirreling money away for a while now, plus it's always possible to play on zukos friends sympathy and stay with them. not his friends because they're too dignified to take in some street urchin.

now as for urzai. in my mind a more wholesome modern au ozai would be a horrific combo of toxic sports dad and pta mom. like yknow he has 2 kids and wants them both to be super good at sports, enrolls them both in a bunch of different sports when they're super little etc. but hes seriously pissed that his firstborn son shows more talent on a theater stage than for any type of sport that isn't badminton. ozai fucking hates badminton, he thinks it's just lame tennis. (badminton would be modern au dao swords for zuko.)

but his daughter is crazy good at all these sports so hes very happy about that at least and puts all his pressure on her while ursa dotes on zuko and shares his passion for theater.

he would also be on the pta solely to petition for more funding for the schools sports teams lol

so less toxic than canon but still that obvious favoritism from each parent leading to a divide between the siblings.

as for how they take it. ozai is very much a "LGBTQ is a bunch of hooey" type guy, but also he is not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth. hes finally getting his perfect sport loving son! so his reaction is to immediately try and get him on hormones and pull him out of school for like a couple months till he "looks more manly" in ozais words. that way they can pretend that zoryn is just a cousin or something (theyd say azula went to a different private school in like Sweden or something) that way no one knows about the trans thing since ozai wouldn't like that associated with him. and ofc get him onto all of the mens sports teams because that is the most important thing to ozai.

ursa is overall more progressive but she takes it less well in zoryns eyes. like shes trying to talk both ozai and zoryn down from "going too fast" cuz shes one of those people who isnt properly transphobic but the idea of their little girl becoming a hairy guy is like. really jarring yknow. this ofc makes zoryns mommy issues worse and makes him even more attached to ozai. which is bad.

so overall theyd take it fine, but it would be pretty bad for zoryn in a way to become even more attached to such a toxic parent.

I'm late diagnosed autistic however i use to stim A LOT as a child

but the thing is - my main stim was PLAYING WITH PEOPLE'S EARS.

Not my own. I never ever did it with my own because my own aren't the right texture. But my parents ears were, so I would reach out and flip the top part of their ear back and forth like one of those pop fidget thingies

my cartilage was too thick to do it so I would literally sit there in my parents lap with a pacifier in my mouth just fiddling with their ears staring into space

for like 15 minutes at a time.

I am an only child so my parents never questioned it they just assumed that's what babies did 😭😭😭

Adults would be like why is your baby doing that and my parents would be like 'oh ya know - im sure they have their reasons'

Family members would be like hey you should get them to stop doing that and my parents were like 'why??? it's harmless. they're literally a baby. chill.'

Meanwhile I was like six years old

And I did it for YEARS.

Theyd be like 'cut it out my ear is getting sore' so I'd stop five minutes later im like

gimmie ear.

I even remember trying it on people who didn't have the right ears for it and being like... completely disinterested in having them hold me

icewings with being shiny and having the biggest antlers and being the cleanest and who has the bluest eyes and having the sharpest quills, theyd probably only wear white or blue 😒

sandwings with having the coolest patterns and having well-groomed hair and stuff abt hair length and style standards changing over time and whos ruling them - up until Oasises rule the beauty standard for hair would be whatever the queen (and sometimes her relatives) look like, and then during the sucession war youre hair could indicate whos side you were on, like being on Blisters side their hair would be braided and long and never cut and facial hair meh :/ they can do whatever as long as its taken care of, but on Burns side theyd have shorter hair, often being shaved/cut into a buzz cut and then cut/shaved back before it grows back and always growing out facial hair and on Blazes side they would care more about their hair being shiny and light or colourful, often beached/dyed white or blue to show that they are allied with icewings, and even soem dragons imitating Queen Glaciers mane of quills but not growing any facial hair even tho they are based in the Ice Kingdom bc honestly Blaze isnt that much of a practical thinker (or one at all) and Scorpian Den dragibs giving zero fucks abt the beauty standards of the rest of the tribe, individual gangs/cults/families/whatever have their own thing and after Thorn becomes queen hair styles become less 'everyone should be like this and or strive to be this' and more of an occupational and place in society type of thing, and also things like obsidian and sapphires and black, blue and pink fabric would probably be something that they think looks pretty

rainwings and being bright and colourful but also being flexible (BECAUSE ITS COOL AND THEY WOULD THINK ITS IMPRESSIVE not for sexual reasons and if someone makes a comment like that im going to throw up a foldable IKEA table) but also smelling nice, like certain flowers or fruit

nightwings with being large and healthy would probably be the traits that they find most desireable, i think that they would incorperate lots of moons and stars and space imagery into their fashion as well as silver and gold

mudwings actually probably wouldnt have beauty standards because they dont care that much about attracting other dragons, but for specific rare 'falling in love' type of instances they would learn about what that dragon likes, for fashion they also probably wouldnt have much except for gold veins between their scales and some headpeices that look like plants or are woven from plants, but that would be more common for higher classes and less common for lower classes

with skywing fashion i was thinking sorta based off european culture (mostly gaelic culture), but for skywings their beauty standards and fashion change with their royalty more than any other tribe, i think in Queen Firestorms rule the beauty standards would be far more relaxed than Scarlets beauty standards, but under Queen Rubys rule the standards would be the most relaxed, but all of them do have one thing in common - jewels, although commonly skywings will uphold the standard that traditional european based (closest to canon) skywings and rocky skywings are more beautiful, although within the avian skywing community they do have similair standards to birds, although its more that avian skywings of all genders look for shinier and brighter partners, duller avian skywings who dont end up having eggs probably end up with each other in toxic marriages/partnerships because they dont really love the other but they want to keep up appearances within their community

seawings - i think they, surprisngly dont have that many beauty standards despite the only two queens we've been shown being absolutely obsessed (/j i am joking) although they definitely do like pearls and probably shells, and patterns of sea stars and sea jellies would be used in clothing

thennn it was pouring today and we had an assembly first thing at 8:30 and we had to "line up" (fuck off w ur line up we r not 6) in the rain an our head of year was yellin at us sayin we were wasting HER time. like BITCH LET US GO IN! Fishel and Aether talk alot about the other worlds theyve visited and sometimes theyeve eveb visited the same world (at diff times so theyd never met before 😔)

Xiangling joined because wherever aether is theres probably exotic foods to follow plus he can defeat regisvines and she puts the leaves into everything (probably makes dolmades with them and grape leaves 🤤)

The others hunt and She makes the food

Aether and paimon are the taste tester of any new creation she make

Kaeya is always very closeby when this happens incase it makes them sick and is bombastic side eyeing the dish the entire time

He also secretely dumps any dish made by the others he doesnt like cuz he doesnt wanna be rude and just starves 😭

Kaeya is def the big brother who somehow got roped into babysitting these 3 teenagers, 2 of which can handle themselves just fine and yet they all give him heart attacks

He looks away for one second and aether + fishel are fighting gods and dragon while xiangling is telling them not to damage said gods and draogons too much because they might be edible

But also because of how old aether is chornologically sometimes he says something that is literally so adult he wonder's if the kid's been replaced by a shapeshifter and then the next thing out of aethers mouth is sarcasm or an impression of one of the other knights (sometimes him 😒) and he goes 'nvm'

Xiangling is tyvets equivelent of guy fieri and bobby flay combined

The others r very protectice of xiangling they 100% will swing for her no questions asked

Oz and kaeya be sharing office style looks with eachother at everyones antics 😭

They eat for free at xiangling's dads's restaurant whenever they pass through liyue, he is now their collective Dad/uncle figure

Xiangling and paimon absolutely bully kaeya into getting grape leaves from dawn winary (diluc would probably not mind in the slieghtest if aether just asked but its more fun to make kaeya steal them so aether keeps his mouth shut)

i'm researching the number of times rui/tsukasa have blushed for ruikasa purposes and boyy it seems like very few. even in their gayest moment (the romeo and juliet scene), i think they're straight faced 💀

i will say tho. the few times they did blush, both put on a pleasant ☺️ to sweet talk. tsukasa was like "hey emu can u not get that caterpillars near me pls and thank you 😊"; meanwhile rui went "come on guysss i'm not a villain or anything tehehehe" "tsukasa come over to my house so i can send you into space ☺️". they've both taken on a fake blush when they're trying to be pleasant and not >:DDDD/ :3

tsukasa also blushed when asking miku and kaito to perform with him, as well as when shizuku showered him in compliments. rui...has no other examples. it's very few (i probably missed some moments though L)

tsukasa's a little more easily embarrassed than rui! but he usually shows it by going 😒 or yelling, not blushing. even then, he's one of the least likely of the cast to be completely embarrased 💀 meanwhile rui is always unabashedly himself, even to a "fault", so he tends to be less shy about things.

all this to say that they're overdramatic theatre kids who wouldn't go "omgg my crush". i think theyd kiss once and then ignore it
