Help me out here: Why is there so much Ian Flynn hate going around lately? I thought everyone loved that he was contributing to the games. Now suddenly they aren't. I guess that's par for the course for this series but I don't get it. He isn't perfect but I like what he's done. Am I a weirdo?
Ian Flynn has always had a lot of fans, but any creator putting their work out there is going to have detractors as well. That's just the nature of being an artist. To some extent, it's no big deal. He's not a perfect writer. Nobody is! I consider myself a fan of his work, but I've criticized plenty of individual writing decisions from him on here.
But Ian doesn't just have critics. He has his own obsessive hatedom. And the specific nature of Ian's hatedom is... interesting.
A decade ago, Ian was only the guy writing for Archie Sonic, meaning any debates over his work were quarantined within that tiny niche of the larger Sonic fandom. Only people who kept up with the comics month to month had any real reason to have an opinion on the guy, which means we're talking about merely thousands of fans as opposed to millions.
Within that group, he had some haters. You had the people who were mad about story changes made during his run, particularly things like ancillary characters getting killed off (although over the years we've learned that most of those were editorial mandates from Mike Pellerito). You had the people mad that Ian didn't push their favorite ship, with feuding SonAmy and Sonally fans claiming that he was CLEARLY biased towards one or the other. You had the people who just really, really liked one of the previous writers way more - usually Penders, as hard as that may be to believe today. That sort of thing. Pretty normal comic fandom type stuff. Again, it comes with the territory.
Unfortunately, many of those haters only got worse over time, morphing into reactionaries who constantly try to incite Comicsgate type culture war bullshit.
There are people still mad at Ian for making Sally bi and pairing her with Nicole instead of Sonic in the later Archie comics. There have been elaborate MS Paint red string conspiracy boards explaining how people like Ian and Jon Gray have apparently been destroying the franchise from the inside for years by Making Sonic Woke. (Jon gets dragged into this because people are still mad about him drawing The Slap 20 years later. Yes, really!!) There was an unhinged change.org petition trying to get Ian fired, specifically from people who were mad that the Freedom Fighters aren't in the IDW comics. There was even a very sad little fan campaign from these people trying to get Sega to move the Sonic comic license away from IDW and over to Udon, because they thought Udon would bring Sally and Bunnie back and also make them sexy again. There's a lot of this.
(Unfortunately, Penders has also exacerbated this by gossiping about Ian on Twitter and giving these fans ammo, but that's a whole 'nother discussion.)
Tumblr media
The thing is, for years, people who only played the games or watched the cartoons had no reason to pay attention to any of this. Now, though, Ian isn't just writing for some weird spinoff comics that only the super nerds read. Now he's writing comics that are canon to the games, and ALSO some of the games themselves, and ALSO consulting on other tie-in media like Sonic Prime, and ALSO writing the official Sonic encyclopedia, and ALSO serving as part of the new Sonic Lore Team at Sega. And on top of all this, he's got an increasingly popular podcast where he fields questions about his work on all of these things, which serves as one of the fandom's main windows into creative decisions being made behind the scenes.
As a fan of Ian's work, it's been really cool to see him rise in prominence. But the dark side of this is that his obsessive haters from the Archie days now have WAY more of a potential audience of their own. Now, every Sonic fan has to have an opinion on Ian. What this frequently means is that you'll have the Comicsgate types taking things Ian writes or says out of context, attempting to get more of the general fandom to yell at the guy.
Unfortunately, there are a wide variety of Sonic fans who take the bait:
You've got hardcore fans who disliked basically any recent piece of Sonic media and are looking for someone to blame.
You've got the people who are concerned about the sanctity of Sonic's canon, who shoot the messenger any time Ian mentions a new retcon from Sonic Team on the podcast - or any time he even mentions the THOUGHT of changing anything about the canon, as we saw recently with the Sol Dimension nonsense.
You've got people who romanticize some sort of mythical artistic vision that Sega of Japan supposedly has (or had) for the franchise. To many of these fans, American contributors like Ian just don't "get" the heart of the series and are trying to turn Sonic into something different. (This "heart of the series" tends to be some mix of Japanese instruction manual lore, the cinematics from Sonic CD, the OVA, and/or the games written by Shiro Maekawa, depending on what Sonic media the fan in question grew up with.)
You've got fans of specific characters or ships who pin the blame for how their faves are depicted entirely on Ian - most vocally fans of Shadow, even though the root problem is that Sonic Team hasn't known what to do with Shadow since 2006. At best this stops at regular old criticism, but at its worst this devolves into claims that Ian has an agenda against certain characters.
You've got fans annoyed by a perceived over-emphasis on comic-original characters in the IDW comics, ignoring the obvious facts that these characters exist because the game cast is so tightly controlled by Sega, and also, you know, that people just like the IDW characters and want more stories about them.
You've got a LOT of discourse over IDW's Sonic being a hero who tries to give his enemies second chances, as if half of Sonic's closest friends aren't already former villains and rivals. Honestly this is very transparently just reheated Steven Universe discourse lmao
You'll also see people who just think they could do Ian's job better. They can't believe that THIS GUY is the American fan working on all these Sonic projects, when clearly THEY understand the characters and lore and themes SO much better than this charlatan.
All it takes is for someone in one of these categories to be unhappy about some recent piece of Sonic media, and for them to come across an out of context quote or comic panel that rubs them the wrong way, and suddenly the leftist Zoomer Sonic fans will join the latest dogpile on Ian alongside the reactionary Comicsgate types who are mad at him for Making Sonic Woke.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In general, when fandoms get upset, they tend to want a scapegoat. A person or two to point a finger at and go "THAT's who ruined the thing I love!" This tends to be based less on reality and more on which contributors are the most visible online. You'll sometimes see teenage and adult fans of children's cartoons single out a storyboarder who's particularly vocal on Twitter, blame them for every story decision they don't like, and harass them off the platform out of a sense of retribution for their favorite ship or whatever. Failing that, fans might choose to blame every nitpick, down to individual lines of dialogue and frames of animation, on a showrunner, just because that's the name they associate with the show. And unfortunately, when it comes to Sonic, Ian is now arguably the most prolific and outspoken contributor on the English speaking internet, and therefore a common scapegoat.
Some of the things I've seen Ian blamed for are truly wild. A lot of people have claimed for YEARS that he's just lying about the existence of creative guidelines and restrictions from Sega - or, as fans call them, The Mandates - even though they're just an inherent aspect of working on a licensed property. Others claim that The Mandates are real, but somehow Ian's fault. A vocal minority of fans have convinced themselves that Ian is the sole reason the Freedom Fighters don't exist in the IDW comics, even though Ian says he's been pushing to bring them back since day one.
Sometimes you'll see people say he ruined shit he didn't even work on. A few weeks ago on Twitter I saw someone claim that Ian had written a rejected script for Sonic Forces in which Tails died. I could not find a source for this for the life of me. As far as I can tell, the rumor seems to have been born from an alleged leaked script for Forces with margin notes from Aaron Webber that criticized the way Tails was written, and also an old tweet where Aaron joked that Tails would die in an upcoming episode of Sonic Mania Adventures. These merged into "Aaron Webber criticized a draft of the Forces script in which Tails died." How'd Ian get dragged into this? Who fucking knows!
It's all just a big game of telephone. All it takes is some asshole to make something up about Ian on Twitter or YouTube or a DeviantArt journal or some forum, and at least a couple people will believe it, and then it gets repeated as fact. Again, this used to be contained by the niche nature of the Archie Sonic fandom, but now there are WAY more people who are receptive to this shit.
Tumblr media
It's just sad to me that Ian tries to be so open and honest about his work, to try to explain the rationale for certain things, to keep fans looped in on the direction the franchise is headed, and this just gives the Flynnspiracy types more quotes to take out of context and try to paint him as the devil. If it sounds like I'm being overly defensive and dismissing his critics, man... some of the things I've seen people say directly to him are just unbelievable. People will send paragraphs-long angry screeds in to his podcast that completely tear him apart, and he has to sit there and be like "Well, that's your opinion, and you're entitled to it." People literally pay for special guest interview episodes where they just rapid fire complaints about his writing at him directly to his face. I don't know how he does it. I would snap.
All of this over Sonic the fucking Hedgehog of all things.
I don't know how to wrap this up. Engaging with fandoms online is very tiring, which is why I tend not to do it. Things like this are too common. I guess, just... remember that making art collaboratively is a complicated thing. The people involved are generally trying their best given the circumstances, but they're only human. They make mistakes. But please treat them like humans. Criticism and dogpiling are not the same thing.

(I know it's not one word but...)
Harvest Moon!
The moment Duke heard about Smallville's Harvest Moon Festival, he knew he wanted to go with Danny. They've both been stuck in Gotham for a while and never get to leave as civilians. He's tired of most of their dates being crashed by crime and corruption, having to ditch meals out together to evacuate civilians and fight rogues who don't respect the sanctity of a day off.
Not this time, though!
Duke has the day off and a favor from Tim has him flying the Batplane out to Kansas with Danny in the co-pilot seat, humming along to the upbeat playlist they decided would accompany them on the flight. It does feel strange for the both of them to be in the Batplane as civilians instead of Signal and Phantom, but it's a nice change.
He's sure that Bruce will scold him about using the Batplane for non-mission purposes, but Duke knows how to deal with him. All he has to do is accuse Bruce of not supporting his relationship and being homophobic, to which Bruce will reply that he's also bi, so how can he be homophobic? And then Duke and anyone else who's around will yell that Bruce is dodging the question and the man will get so tired he'll give up and leave. It's worked before, it'll work again.
"Why'd you wanna go to the festival, anyways?" Danny asks, breaking the comfortable silence that's settled between them.
Duke shrugs. "It sounded fun. And it's far from Gotham, so we won't have to worry about a rogue crashing our date again."
"Don't jinx us," Danny warns with a teasing grin, "Watch an alien warship come down just to prove you wrong."
"Don't put that out into the world! Today's our day off. If an alien warship does come down, the Supers can deal with it. I am going to have a fun night out with you and I'm not letting anything get in our way."
"How romantic," Danny say wryly, "Protecting our date. The fact that it's even gotten this bad is honestly ridiculous."
"I'm starting to think Gotham doesn't want us to date."
"Gotham can think whatever it wants. It's not going to keep me away from you."
"Sap."
"Says you!" Danny reaches over to lightly smack his arm and Duke grins, grabbing his hand to press a kiss against his palm just to watch Danny's face flush red.
They land a few minutes later in a field just behind the Kent's property. Duke makes sure the plane is cloaked, hidden from sight, before he descends with Danny. Kon waits for them, giving them a cheerful wave once they're on the ground.
"Good to see you," he greets, leading them to the Kent house. "We've got quite the spread prepared today!"
Duke blinks. "Oh, we were just going to chill until the festival started. You didn't need to include us in your dinner plans."
"If you think you can stop Ma from feeding you, you got another thing coming. Especially since she likes Danny so much." Kon winks at Danny. "Also, I made a banging sweet potato casserole and I need you two to compliment me on it, so you have to join us."
"Fair enough," Danny says. "Good thing we didn't eat before heading out, huh?"
Duke reaches out and takes Danny's hand in his. This is already looking to be better than all their other dates in Gotham. "Lucky us," he agrees, then tells Kon, "Thanks, man, for setting us up for this."
"No prob! I'm always happy to help out in the name of love. Also the festival is super fun and I need you to convince Tim to come by one of these days. If he's stuck in Gotham working on cases any longer, he's gonna start growing mushrooms outta his head."
"We'll make sure he stops by soon," Duke promises.
They emerge from the corn field to the picnic table behind the Kent house covered in a checkered table cloth and covered in a variety of dishes. The other members of the Kent family and members of Superman's side of the hero business are gathered around as well, chatting with relaxed smiles. Kon leaves them with a friendly slap on their backs and walks over to pick Jon up and toss him over his shoulder.
Sibling bickering fills the air. Danny leans against Duke with a soft smile.
"Thanks," he says quietly, the words just for the two of them. "For everything."
"I should be saying that to you," Duke returns, leaning in to kiss Danny's cheek. "C'mon, let's go enjoy our date night."
Yeah, they're definitely coming back next year. He'll even remember to bring one of his mom's favorite dishes to the Havrest Moon Dinner the Kent's host.
(send me a Halloween/autumn themed word and I'll write you a ghostlights drabble!)

Kate – Part 3
Jon was smitten by Kate. For the past 3 months, he visited her at least once every week and never once did Jon left unsatisfied. Sometimes Kate blow Jon in the shower, leading to shower sex. Or she would strip naked, lay down with her legs spread wide while waiting for Jon to return from his shower. Once, Kate edged him for 50 minutes by just teasing Jon with her oily body, sensual handjobs, quick blowjobs, pussy rubs then, finally, gave him permission to fuck her. Jon cum twice inside her within 5 minutes. Jon was loving it…
************************************************************************
At a chalet…
‘Ya dear, reach already and going…hmm…in now. Later will be busy with work ba-Ahh! Okok, I text you when I’m done kay. Muah bye’
Jon tried to talk normally to his girlfriend while having his cock down Kate’s throat. Fuck, this is the life. After 3-days of outstation work, Jon lied to his GF, took another 2 days off and took Kate (also on leave) to a staycation in Sentosa.
Now, under the table between Jon’s legs, Kate was furiously sucking on his hard hard cock. Imagine looking down and seeing a 20+yo girl in a stripped bikini and sunglasses bobbing her head up and down. Cock in mouth, Kate took off her glasses, stared up at Jon and slowly deepthroated him, cm by cm, kept it there until her eye teared. Jon groaned as Kate coughed saliva all over.
‘Bi…who is that har? You tell the receptionist I am your wife, yet you dear dear someone else… I need to punish you liao.’ Kate tried to bite his cock, but couldn’t fit it all, so she slowly zhut his cock up and down while playfully winked at Jon.
‘I am going to beat you with this stick…
Mmmhmm…I want to beat you harder…
Using my da rou bang (big meat stick)…
Beat until you surrender uhmmm…
Lao gong……!!!!’
‘Fuckkkk!!!’ Jon sprayed 4-5 loads of cum on Kate’s face. She continued to jerk him off while aiming at her face. Using his cock as a spoon, Kate tried to wipe Jon’s warm cum into her mouth. Some dripped down to her body but most stuck to Jon’s cock, so she gave it a few sucks and made a big show of swallowing the big load. Jon watched all this while still catching his breathe.
‘Lao gong~ you bad bad! Already pied me 3 times last night still can shoot so much…’ Kate leaned on Jon’s leg, looking satisfied and dreamily up at him. Like a wife completing her duties, and enjoying it. Even though he is tired, looking at his new ‘wife’, Jon couldn’t help but feel turned on again, his cock slowly getting bigger and harder again. Kate didn’t looked shock, but instead, sensually teased Jon’s cock with her face, her nose then her lips, and said,
 ‘Lao gong…wo hai yao… (I still want…)’

What are some things introduced new52 to current day that you like and think are an overall net positive for batfam continuity? (As in, it's not uncommon for me to see fan things that mainly focus on post crisis/pre flashpoint stuff but still incorporate new comic aspects, such as slightly changed family dynamics/new developments, and it's interesting for me to find out what different people think is and isn't worth keeping from what got added after the reboot)
ooooh this is a fun question!!
i was going to say i haven't read that many n52 and onwards runs, and then i realized i have actually read most of the ones i want to, i just haven't read any batman/'tec/batgirl/or duke's runs yet. (i read like...half of We Are Robin, Joker War, and i've read batman from where zdarsky come in so like have also read Gotham War.) (might read Catwoman?? not the point.)
since we're sticking strictly to net positives, i'll include something that i like, even if i have criticisms of it, but i won't get into those criticisms so we can stay positive!! (future cue, so this is kind of a lie but i swear i didn't go overboard.) i'm going to include stuff as minor as like costumes bc why not. also nothing is going to be in order of like what i like the most to what i like the least, just fyi. also, probs not definitive, knowing me i will forget something lmao
New52 Era-
tim's red robin costume. that suit is *chef's kiss* imo. i love that he has wings. i...i don't know if i necessarily want it back rn bc i am sososososo in love with his current robin costume, but i do adore the n52 red robin suit
i personally like that they went ahead and made jason less villain, more anti-hero. i think him trying to reintegrate with the batfam creates some very compelling crises
dick as Agent 37!! which...okay, no criticisms nvm. michael janin's art tho >>> okay well actually maybe sometimes i wish this was like elseworlds/black label instead of mainline but
might be a bit of a reach, but i really enjoy the first handful of arcs in n52 b&r and the relationship dynamic they established for bruce and dami
i like that tim and jason are somewhat friendly. i think it makes sense. for a lot of reasons. this is a somewhat controversial opinion, which i understand. but this is where i stand
did i like anything else from this era specifically?????????
OH
DUKE!!!!!!! i loooooove him very happy he was added
Rebirth Era-
the outlaws, specifically jason's relationship with bizarro. (i enjoyed artemis a lot too!! tbh, haven't read these guys outside of this run tho so zero clue how accurate these portrayals are, so grain of salt?)
the return of dick's fingerstripes!!!!!!! best part of tom taylor's run /hj
TIM'S ROBIN COSTUME AHHHHHH. i'm sorry i love that suit way too much
love damian's current robin costume, although...does he have combat boots rn still? can't remember. if he doesn't, they should give those back
damian + jon's relationship, ik it gets obliterated by the stupid age up, but super sons is still very special to me
tim being bi!! now do kon dc you cowards
alfred's death. i refuse to elaborate. i could, but i shan't (this is not alfred hate tho i swear)
i'm forgetting something rn i know it
oh yeah, i do like tim being robin again. IK. IKKKK. no, i don't think he should be robin forever. no, i don't think dami is a bad robin/shouldn't be robin.
um...i liked dick getting shot in the head. the ric era is not how i would've wanted the aftermath but
i don't want to comment on anything super recent, but i do think there's stuff going on rn that could end up being net positives
the titans being reassembled. jury's out on their location but, i do like that they're back
i'm not counting yj because they're not doing anything with them rn, but they should ugh
i think...i think that's it? there could honestly be a lot more that i'm forgetting. i hope this was interesting!! if there's anything i didn't mention that you're curious about, or something i did mention that you'd like a more in-depth answer about, please feel free to ask!! i'm curious what you consider net positives anon, you should shareeee

WIP Wednesday: baby edition
This week I present my first attempt at writing DC fic for a pairing other than superbat - but, you know, only barely because this is for superbat mini, aka jondami. This is the start of a fic I'm planning out about Jon and Damian through the years (ignoring Bendis' timeskip because I can) in a coming of age story, in which Jon tries to deal with figuring out he's bi and having a crush on his cool(-ish) older best friend. Working title: Puberty Fucking Sucks because like. It just does.
It started when Jon was 12.
There wasn’t anything special about the day itself. In fact, it was pretty ordinary: a normal Thursday afternoon where he and Damian were passing the time between school and patrol in their base, as they did every week. Damian was sitting on the floor with his back to the couch, curled over his sketchbook, doing… Well, Jon didn’t know what Damian put in his sketchbook, since he’d made Jon promise not to look. Jon was nice and a good friend – and maybe a little scared of what Damian might consider fair retribution – so he always humored him.
Meanwhile, Jon was slumped on the couch, putting off doing his homework by half-reading a manga that Damian had recommended. A…shujo? Shogo? Some kind of romance thing. Whatever it was, it wasn’t really enough to capture Jon’s attention. So instead, he found himself watching Damian.
They’d been best friends for most of the last 2 years at this point, so Damian was very familiar to him at this point. But in his boredom, Jon found himself focusing on the details of his face in a way he hadn't before, looking at the parts and not the whole. His eyes were slanted and striking, piercingly and vividly green even hidden below the thick, dark sweep of his lashes. His nose had a little bump at the bridge, and his mouth was small and turned down at the corners, so he always looked a little grumpy even when he was in a good mood. His hair was dark and crazy thick (it was an Arab thing apparently, or so Damian had told him when he’d mentioned it one time) and it was surprisingly soft when he didn’t style it. Jon knew that from personal experience, because once Damian had let Jon hug him during a sleepover when he’d had a nightmare, and Jon couldn’t help but rub his face into it a little, like a cat. Damian had grumbled a little but hadn’t pulled away
Damian was really pretty, Jon thought. It wasn’t a new thought. Damian had always been pretty – though not pretty like girls were pretty, just…attractive. It was just a fact of life, in the way that most actors and pop stars and even Damian’s own parents were just obviously, objectively nice to look at.
But still, something about this Damian was different from the version that lived in Jon’s head. He was still shorter than Jon, although not by much. But even though Damian was smaller than him, he somehow looked…more. Older. His hands had always been long and kinda elegant, but now they looked as strong as Jon knew they were. And his jaw was no longer round and soft like Jon’s, but sharp and defined. Masculine. There was a breadth to his shoulders that felt new, even though logically it couldn’t be since he saw Damian most days, but…but somehow he hadn’t really noticed it before. It made his uniform blazer hang differently, in a way that felt weirdly distracting.
Damian wasn’t just pretty anymore, he realized. Damian was handsome. And Jon wasn’t sure why, but something about that thought got to him, made him feel weirdly hot and squirmy inside.
He quickly buried his face in the pages of the manga he wasn’t reading. He’d felt like this before, months ago. He was watching a commercial break with his parents and the pretty actress on screen had really enjoyed her branded yoghurt. Jon had gone very quiet and very red, and his dad had shot him a knowing look. Which was pretty much the most embarrassing thing that had ever happened to anyone ever.
Jon had mumbled something about finishing his homework and fled upstairs. He spent most of that evening typing a bunch of awkward questions into google in private browsing mode. And then after that, he’d guiltily rewatched that yoghurt commercial a few dozen times – but on mute, so his dad couldn’t hear. His attempt at secrecy didn't really pay off, because a week later his dad had come into his room and sat him down for a Talk, as in the Talk, which had firmly pushed the yoghurt incident itself to second place in the ranking of Most Embarrassing Things.
But…but this didn’t make sense, Jon thought to himself. Why would Jon be having yoghurt commercial feelings about Damian? Damian was his best friend!
He chanced a peek at Damian over the top of his manga. It was still just Damian, familiar and sulky and way lamer than he liked to pretend he was. His best friend, Damian. He had his head bowed, pink tongue poking out between his lips like it did when he was intensely focused, and for some reason Jon couldn’t stop staring—
He forcibly ripped his gaze away, mortified. Oh no, this was weird. This was so weird. The yoghurt commercial was rapidly being pushed to third place in the rankings. He needed to leave right now.
He stood abruptly. “Hey, so I’m gonna go.”
Damian turned his head to look at him sharply. His habitual scowl was tinged with confusion. “What? Go where? We’re supposed to patrol in an hour.”
“Just training,” Jon said, false-bright. “I’m gonna work on some stuff. Training stuff.”
The confusion was very much still present. “Oookay?” Damian said. He flipped his sketchbook closed. “Did you want to spar? I could—”
“Nope,” Jon chirped, already edging towards the door. He was trying very hard to look at anything but Damian, which was probably super suspicious, but. Looking at Damian just felt like a lot, okay?
“It’s just some dumb superpower training my dad told me to do,” he continued. “It wouldn’t interest you, trust me. So you can just stay right here, while I go…away from here.” He winced. “Anyway, see you at patrol!”
He didn’t wait for Damian to respond before he turned and marched out of the room, well aware that he was acting absolutely insane but completely powerless to stop it. Thankfully, even though Jon knew Damian was incredibly suspicious of his behavior, he didn’t follow him.
Jon spent the rest of the time before patrol carefully carving patterns into wooden blocks with his heat vision and trying not to think about Damian’s opinions on Activia.

Cool stuff about the twins! :D can you do the same with Johnny boy?
Ooooo absolutely! (And if anyone wants to request Jai’s reaction to the amount of smut his sister reads, I’ll happily write it 😂😂😂)
While he admires his father, he chafes at people only looking at him as “Superman’s Son” or “Clark’s boy”. He has tiny acts of rebellion—his hair is usually messier than his father’s, he doesn’t shave that often, he prefers fiction/nonfiction writing to journalism, etc. Again, he loves his father, he just doesn’t want to be his clone.
The Omega Boys play DND every Wednesday night, as a way to relax and hang out. One campaign, Jon played a Hick Elf, complete with a thick accent. He proceeded to flirt with Mar’i in the accent and made her blush.
Also helped Milagro in her “Noir” shoot
Tumblr media
Not shown, Mar’i shamelessly checking out his butt
He genuinely forgets he doesn’t need glasses sometimes. Milagro, who I headcannon wears contacts but none of them knew, had to wear her spare glasses. They look almost identical to Jon’s. They’d set them near each other after a training session. Milagro put Jon’s on and immediately walked into a wall. Jon put hers on and got an instant migraine.
He absolutely adores his nephews and nieces. He’s Uncle Jojo and spoils them rotten
I think he finds comfort in cooking and baking. Like Omega usually rotates responsibilities, but Jon volunteers to do most of it anyway.
All the omega boys have a “non-sexual slutty” moment the girls can’t stop thinking about. For Jon, it’s him in the middle of kneading bread, glasses sliding down his nose, shirt sleeves rolled up his forearms, singing alone to the radio. I will not be taking questions or complaints at this time.
Jon truly loves his brothers. Like are they annoying as hell? Yes. Does he want to punch them half the time? Absolutely. Would he kill anyone who hurt them? Without question.
While he’s definitely the most powerful on the team, I do think he would rely on that power to help in a fight. This is in comparison to Mar’i, who was raised around several martial art masters.
Literally started calling Mar’i his wife when they were like 17. They’d been dating about three years and she thinks it’s absolutely, ridiculously adorable.
Realized he was bisexual because of Matty West, his first “guy kiss” being Jack (since Jack has kissed Mar’i for dances). He thought he had it handled okay. Then made the mistake of telling Lian, when their families were over, that there’s no question she could ask in front of his parents he wouldn’t answer or they wouldn’t have figured out. Lian’s response? “You cant date Mar’i anymore. Who on this team are you dating instead and why?” Boy froze in pure bi panic
Anytime an animal is staying in omega tower, they’re given the best food.
He enjoys working on his grandparents farm, helping Pa as he ages, but he wouldn’t want to have a huge farm himself.
You know the trope of “girlfriend’s father HATES her boyfriend”? Yeah, Dick refers to Jon as “My Future Son-in-law” to everyone. Like Dickie knows they’re end game lol
Jon and Kathy Brandon love to tease each other about being little kids, running around the farms, pushing each other into the mud. Jon also helps to do chores around her and Maya’s house. When it’s firewood time, Mar’i and Maya pull up chairs to watch them work. Shamelessly I should add
Very very very much soft dom energy. Like he’s usually good with listening or letting people assume, but there’s a side of him that comes out that MAKES people listen
He and Colin always find away to tease Damian about how whipped he is for Irey.
Damian: hey, be safe
Irey: I will *speeds off*
Jon: *dramatic whisper* be safe
Colin: *fake swoon* I’ll be so safe
Disrespect him, he’ll shrug it off. Disrespect his teammates or friends? Y’all are gonna have a “conversation”. Disrespect his family? No words, on sight. Disrespect his WIFE? He will actually kill you.
I don’t know how or why, but at some point, Comics Jon and his boyfriend, Jay Nakamura, appear in omega tower. Jay and Mar’i? Instant best friends determined to sass their boyfriends
He’s the kinda guy who will get you a drink and just sit with you when shit goes down, until you’re ready to talk.

Hot Take: Don't hate me, but they should've made Damian bi instead of Tim
Tumblr media
I feel like it works better from a comic fan POV; Tim existed as a straight guy for a longer amount of time than Damian (not counting Damian's appearance in 1987, since he never made a meaningful appearance until 2006), which means there would be more pushback about changes to his sexuality. Plus I could see it more with Damian than Tim, given that Damian is still learning more about himself, especially since his heritage has him conflicted on how to act and grow. One could argue Tim has this issue, but it's not a character flaw; it's literally because the writers/label don't know what to do with him and they're blaming it all on his indecisiveness (but that's another rant entirely). Plus I know a lot of people ship him and Jon, and I think that'd be a heavily supported ship with minimum controversy.
And let's be honest; DC didn't know how to manage Tim BEFORE he was bi, but they seem to do well with Damian. They'd make sure he served as better representation and wasn't reduced to his sexuality being his only major trait.

TV Tropes That Apply to Sick Boyfriend
Potty Failure - it is heavily implied that he wets himself based on his D Side counterpart
Vocal Dissonance - his voice is way different in the mod, having a more deeper tone, possibly to mock how the voice acting in SpongeBob SickPants isn't that great
Adaptational Personality Change - This version of Boyfriend once killed his ex-girlfriend out of jealousy. He then returned to his normal friendly state once the deed was done
A Day in the Limelight - he's the only one who sings in the SickPants week
Vomit Indiscretion Shot - he is prone to this. Even his game over screen has him tossing his cookies
Ambiguously Bi - he is bisexual, as he's been seen dating DrugFriend in the past, and they both even got married
Cat Face - at one point, pause fast enough at the end of his right sprite, and he will make a cat face (IOW, a cat mouth)
Ax-Crazy - he killed his ex-girlfriend out of pure jealousy, sadness and rage
Back From the Dead - although he did drown, the toxic waste found at the bottom of the ocean revived him, and made him swim (and breathe) underwater
Bathos - despite how menacing the mod is at times, Sick Boyfriend is the more silly singer out of all 24+ Boyfriend variants
Berserk Button - Sick Girlfriend is a massive one for him. Also, don't hurt DrugFriend in any way, or show him Among Us memes
Big Damn Heroes - his opponent is SpongeBob SickPants, whom he defeats during two rap battle songs
Big Eater - in one Lost Media pic, he did a Mukbang
Nausea Fuel - his appearance in the first cutscene has him throwing up on SpongeBob SickPants. His Game Over screen has him throw up when he loses a rap battle, and his right sprite has him holding up a cup of his saliva
Bring My Brown Pants - he pees himself in fear after seeing Sky in 3 Boy Bondin, and he also does this in A Boy Gotta Work/Working DrugFriend to "refresh his memory"
Anything Can Be a Weapon - his microphone may be busted, but it was able to pack a serious punch against Sick Girlfriend
Crossover - in one comic, he entered the Garfield universe, much to Jon's chagrin
Cruel and Unusual Death - fail to complete "Stomach Flu" or "Shark Hunt", and Sick Boyfriend throws up on the spot
Curbstomp Battle - Take a guess
Precision F Strike - whenever he loses a game of Flappy Bird, Sick Boyfriend loses his temper and goes on a swearing rant, using the F word multiple times in one sentence
Technicolour Weirdness - his miss sprites have a green tint instead of a purple one
Epic Fail - Sick Boyfriend once tried to follow Sick PonyCentral's recipe on her green pizza, with DrugFriend throwing up all over the couch as a result of the green food colouring overdose
Everything Trying to Kill You - SpongeBob SickPants tried slashing Sick Boyfriend apart with his spatula
Flipping the Bird - he sometimes gives Sick Girlfriend the middle finger during their arguments
Prone to Tears - literally
Sensitive Guy and Manly Man - the Sensitive Guy to DrugFriend's Manly Man. Sick Boyfriend will usually start crying at the smallest things
The Ditz - Take a wild guess. He's usually doing things without thinking twice
Suddenly Voiced - the second SickPants week cutscene has him saying "Well, at least I'm still alive" before getting eaten by a shark
I Ate WHAT?! - he once ate DrugFriend's socks on two slices of bread, thinking it was a sandwich. He was drunk that night, and he only realised his mistake once he pulled a string of thread out of his teeth
Long-Lost Relative - Pépé Bubbles from Bubbly Bikini Boatin is revealed to be Sick Boyfriend's half-brother
Minor Injury Overreaction - This happens every time he gets a flu shot
Why Did It Have to be Snakes?! - Sick Boyfriend is afraid of needles, blood and lightning strikes
My Name Is ??? - his name is revealed by his father to be Kevin
Oh, Crap - he has this reaction whenever a dangerous threat arrives at the town
Red Oni, Blue Oni - the Blue to Sick Girlfriend's Red. Emphasised further by their hair colours
Screams Like a Little Girl - he does this whenever he sees a needle, blood or if he hears a thunderstorm and sees lightning. He also screams whenever he hears fireworks
Adaptational Ugliness - Sick Boyfriend and his cousin Dave Sides (D Side Sick Boyfriend) are both given messy hair, ripped hats and visible gums, even obtaining a dull colour scheme and derpy eyes. His appearance has remained the same throughout all of the updates
Ship Tease - in the beginning of his Twitter journey, he was shipped with DrugFriend as a silly thing. Overtime, the ship became a PonyCentral Canon thing, thus the name given to the pairing was known as ShrugFriend
Shirtless Scene - he is shown shirtless on a trip to the beach, and when he was playing strip poker with his friends
Too Dumb to Live - despite hardly dying in the PonyCentral Canon Universe (PCU), his death in the second cutscene of SickPants week is due to him not noticing the shark beside him
Trademark Favourite Food - anything fried chicken related, and anything sweet
Adorkable - he has his moments of adorableness

I know your asks say specific topics, but since I saw you liked my post on Superman & Lois lack of gay rep, what are your thoughts on the characters and their gay rep in general?
Thanks for the ask.
Idefinitely should add S&L ( plus other shows) on my pinned post. Just slipped my mind at the time.
FIY, for brevity sakes, I use bisexual as a umbrella term for anyone who isn't potrayed as 100% monosexual, (including fluid, pan and bicurious people).
Lets begin with Sarah. I hate the ONE bisexual character cheated. I wouldn't mind it if there were more bi characters on the show, who don't cheat, and preferably straight characters who do cheat (which did happen a few episodes later, but it doens't help a lot without faithful bi characters, since the message then becomes: "some straights cheat, all bisexuals cheat", instead of "some straights and some bisexuals cheat"). What makes it even more annoying to me is that a) her bisexuality/bicuriosity was introduced through cheating, which imo just highlight that the first bi characters was unfaithful and b) she cheated on Jordan with a girl, which, imo, feeds into the stereotype about bi people never being satisfied in a monogomous relationship with a man, because they need something only a woman can provide them (or/and vice versa).
I actually like Sarah. Even is s2. I don't mind her making mistakes. I don't mind her kissing another person. It was moment of weakness, and she came clean. In world where "cheating bisexual" wasn't a stereotype, or she wasn't the only bi character on the show, I wouldn't mind.
What I DO like about how Sarah kissing Aubrey is handled is that it Aubrey being a girl isn't a big deal, and there isn't any need (from the narritive, Sarah, or other characters) for her to lable or explain her sexuality.
I would have liked a brief scene where she discussed her sexuality with someone. Is she certain she is bi? If so, did she know before that summer? Is she still figuring things out? Is she mostly straight, but occasionally has confusing feelings about certain girls? Was she tempted to kiss Aubrey because of a silly whim, curiosity, or genuine attraction? Still, it's nice the show simply had Sarah kiss a girl, without focusing on her identity, and the kiss was still treated as a "real" kiss, not just some silly joke between two friends.
Non-sexuality related sidebar: If we remove sexuality from the equation, I still feel like that the show could have skipped the cheating plot, or done it differently, e.g. use it to explore Jordan's fears of Sarah losing interest in him, or show him needing to learn to talk things through properly, instead of assuming everything will be fine with apologies and love confessions.
Now, moving on from Sarah. As far as I know, S&L doens't have an queer characters. Which I am fine with. Not every show NEEDS a queer character. The world needs more representation, but no piece of fiction can represent every underrepresented groups out there.
I never personally read Chrissy as queer, but sucks you are dissapointed.
Natelie is based off Natasha Irons, who dated a girl in the comics, so I was expecting her to be queer. However, the comics never confirmed she was a lesbian, just that she was into girls. Here's hoping we get Bi Nat.
Some peolpe want Jon to be bi, because comic Jon Kent is bi. To me, these two are two different characters, not different iteration/version of the same character. Making him bi would be cool. We need more queer jocks and male bi characters. But at the same time, if S&L would make him bi, it would feel like he was a different version of THAT Jon, and I kind of want Jon and Jordan to be their own, original characters.
I personally hc Jordan as bi. I relate to him, and tend to project a lot on him, so I made him queer ( I am a lesbian, not a bi guy, so it's different, but it's still involves being attracted to your own gender). In my hc, he wasn't 100% sure about his sexuality before s2, but had suspected he is bi for years. After learning Sarah kissed Aubrey, he started thinking harder about his sexuality (something he had mostly tried to avoid, because he didn't want to feel even more different than he already did), and became certain he was bi. He hasn't come out to anyone yet, but considered telling Sarah. In the end, he chickened out, because he wasn't quite ready to come out to anyone, not even another queer person. He still sometimes considers telling Sarah or Jon, but since he only has eyes for Sarah, he doens't really feel the need to bring it up + he has a lingering fear Sarah would find him less attractive if she knew, even though he knows Sarah is properly too open-minded to accept the double standards surrounding female and male bisexuality.

And while we’re here, there are some other reboots and adaptations I need:
Secret Circle: Deserved more than one season. I don’t even gotta say much cuz it was good.
Witches of East End: I was invested and I wanted to meet Hela.😭
Deadly Class: I don’t know why tf they canceled it. It was amazing.
Shadowhunters: Hear me out. The Freeform show was alright, but the script was horrible in a lot of places and the acting bad for most of it too. Katherine really started to shine towards the end, but by then it was over. I don’t think they worked with Isabelle’s actress correctly. Isabelle’s supposed to be a bad bitch, and the actress had the look, but it was in the action sequences where she fell off. They needed to tailor the wardrobe to the actress. Isabelle wore heels in the book but that’s not always practical. They should’ve dressed her more like they did the girl in The Mortal Instruments film. Cutting out Idris and Alicante was not a good move. One of my favorite parts of the series was when they went there. That being said, the changes they made to Clary’s characterization were great. Making the story about her and Sebastian instead of him and Jace was the right move. I never felt it was right how she was sidelined for Jace in that regard. Having her become proficient at fighting earlier, more rune abilities, going on her own missions, her not being a damsel in distress - all great choices. Killing Jocelyn was dumb.
Sweet Vicious: amazing concept. Loved it. Ahead of its time.
Eye Candy: They left us on a damn cliffhanger. The lil sister left willingly(unless she was groomed) but with WHO and WHY?!
Lost Girl: Great concept, but Mary Sue Bo was an issue. Kenzi should’ve been given powers in season 2, and other characters should’ve been developed and celebrated besides Bo. If not powers, Kenzi could’ve been learning martial arts like on some Charmed shit. Or even got a magical weapon, or became a witch when she killed Baba Yaga. Hale should not have died. They also didn’t seem to really have a direction with the plot until the last 2 seasons. And the ending wasn’t great either.
Charmed: First off, you can’t reboot Charmed. You just can’t. You’d have to do something in the Charmed Universe, but a reboot just won’t work. Can we please get some Halliwell cousins? Preferably a gay one?
Buffy: Same thing: a reboot won’t work. You need to do something in the Buffy Universe. I would prefer if they did something where Buffy didn’t make every potential a Slayer. That might still be cool though. I’d also like for both Buffy and Charmed to be more inclusive. A couple enby or just fem people in the Charmed Line or as Slayers would be cool. Especially with the Slayers since most of them don’t have kids anyway. The only issue with both Charmed and Buffy is: how the hell would they work in the era of ring cameras and smart phones? Still mad Spike and Xander never got together.
The 100: I’ve written multiple essays. Major points: the boys should be bi too, Monsper, don’t kill off every character introduced, and the rest is on my page somewhere.
GOT/HOTD: I don’t even gotta say shit. Bi Jon Snow! Theon and Jon!
HP: I don’t rock with the Queen of Terfs, but Harry should’ve been bi. The ending relationships were so fanfiction(besides Ron and Hermione). To marry is too far-fetched, but Hedric, or Harlie, Darry or Tharry…like c’mon! We need to see POVs from the dark side too. The dark side, government - everything needs to be more fleshed out. The world building was not it.
Eragon: that movie was egregious. That being said, it’s basically a GOT rip-off. But to be fair, I like how high fantasy it is. GOT’s magic system is horrible(To me), and it’s easy to forget it’s fantasy and not just historical fiction.

rules: tag 9 some people you want to know better and/or catch up with, then answer the questions below. i was tagged by @fineosaur , thank you sorry for being late, I got the notification for this at like 11pm and then forgot to do it the next day. (Also I'm doing this on my side blog instead of my edwardian history one! For the sake of my OCD.)
 three ships:
Jon|Satin|Val: because there aren't enough bi/poly romances in fiction that are mlm.
Tom Natsworthy x Hester Shaw: my man Tom is canonically the bottom and the little spoon in the relationship and I'm all here for it. Also Phillip Reeve writes his female characters realy well and by really well I mean he does the bare minimum by not creepily talking about their tits or putting them frequently in rape scenes (*cough*GRRM*cough* Stephen King*cough*).
Mairon/Anatar x any/all of the Nazgul:
There's something my anuerotypical brain really likes about an angelic twink giving you a ring and then turning you into his permanent emo ghoul boyfriend.
currently reading: a dusty copy of Dune that I've spent 5 years trying to force my way through, I usually get bored and go read asoiaf or lotr. Also trying the 7 pillars of wisdom because I love desert adventure stories.
craving: this Turkish dessert thing i had made from cheese and pistachios when I was in Jordan. Kunifeh i think it was called.

I haven't read the DC Pride anthology. But I'm old enough to recognise what an incredible win it is to have so many canonically queer DC superheroes now AND a Pride anthology AND bi Tim Drake and bi Jon Kent. I'm also old enough to be mad as hell that TimKon STILL ISN'T FUCKING CANON and to know that it's very unlikely that DC is going to do right by their queer fans.

You absolutely cannot change my mind about this:
- Steve is the mom, Robin is the dad, Eddie and Nancy are the step parents, and Jonathan and Argyle are the really cool uncles.
- Steve definitely mothers everyone, there's curfew, there's a carpool scheduled, and, even if he doesn't admit it, he has definitely got into a shout match with a ref or another mom about his kid and another kid.
- Robin definitely fits the dad, she helps out with the kid's homework (especially languages classes), she has thrown one punch at a jock for picking on one of the kids tho she made them swear never to let anyone know that she punched someone for them, and her arsenal of dad jokes help.
- Eddie and Nancy both are step-in parents when the kids can't find either Steve or Robin, there's usually a threat of violence involved and the kids feeling extremely safe with the two tho both Steve and Robin scold all of them for it.
---
"No, Eddie! You can't say you'll summon Satan if they pick on Dustin."
"Nancy don't flash them your revolver please, I know they shoved Lucas but bullets wont solve this."
"THAT IS NOT WHAT WE RESORT TO WHEN PEOPLE TALK ABOUT MAX AND HER WHEELCHAIR! NO PUT MY BAT DOWN!"
"I'm not mad but...when we agreed to talk I imagined the talking with less threat of bodily harm and more of 'Hey! that's my brother so back off or else.' But it works."
---
- Jonathan and Argyle are very much the chill, laid-back uncles for when the kids just want to vent or want to see a different kind of perspective.
- Steve and Eddie parent Dustin and they have Sunday morning put aside for sci-fi movies in their pajamas.
- Robin parents the Sinclairs who loves that they get Robin to themselves on Mondays bcos they get milkshakes and talk about easy stuff like how their week is so far or Robin teaching them new shit.
- Eddie and Robin share custody of Will with Jonathan and all four of them have a bi-weekly gossip session at a diner, they talk shit about ppl and judge jocks.
---
"He's so stupid but so cute."
"You are down baaaad, mini Byers."
"He was terrible in California, I wanna hit him."
"I'll hold him down and you can handle him."
"I like the way you think, Buckley."
"We have a deal, Byers."
"Remind me never to get on your bad sides."
"Please don't."
---
- Robin and Nancy parents Max and they have a day-in every Sunday morning where they play music and do their own thing, Nancy's working on her article, Robin is reading her other language book, and Max is playing tea party with Holly (who sneaks her way in every morning to play with her new big sister Max).
- Nancy and Jonathan parents Mike and it a more of a subtle parenting caring thing bcos all three of them are emotionally constipated, there's casual check-ins and subtle reassurances.
- Argyle and El are the communal uncle and child, respectively.
- The kids go to Argyle for advice about anything under the sun and loves his relax attitude on life.
- The teens love El and makes sure she gets a semi-normal childhood which mean cartoon Friday with Steve, learning new things with Robin, shopping with Nancy, listening to new music with Eddie, bedtime stories with Jonathan, and advice about what life can be with Argyle.
- Everyone is absolutely terrified of Jonathan and Robin that when being scolded the two are used as a threat.
---
"Mike you better be down here on time or I'll have Jonathan and Robin teach you about punctuality!"
"I said no, Henderson! I swear to God, I'll have Jon and Rob take you for the week instead."
"Usually I'd say "hell yeah, red!" But Jonny and Buck scare me as much as they scare you and they'll find out we did this so I'm gonna have to say no."
---
- Jonathan and Robin get along so well and together they can get so scary.
- When the entire party are hanging out together they get scared when both Jonathan and Robin being scolding them bcos it's scarier than Nancy and definitely scarier than the Updie Down.
---
"I told you it was a bad idea! We're gonna get I trouble!"
"Relaaax, Eddie wouldn't care, Nancy's always telling us to do it ourselves and Steve won't know."
"I don't think stealing booze from the cabin counts, Michael."
"Don't call me, Michael!"
"They can't say anything all three of them drank waaaay more at our age anyway."
"Dustin, you may have a point but that's not what I'm worried about."
"Will's right you guys. Robbie and Jonathan are here so maybe we shouldn't be doing this."
"We'll be fi--"
"What do you four think you're doing?"
"That better not be alcohol, mini dinguses."
"Shit."
----
Tadaaaaa? I just find it funny just how scary both Jonathan and Robin can be. Just imagine for a bit how scary those two can be together when any of the kids are theirs for the week. They'd be so chill but as soon as you do a wrong they can be so firm that none of the older teens would dare cross both of them. Anyway! Tadaaaa

Like Robert said that they all tricked him into thinking they loved him and viewed as a friend for 7 years when really they only cared him because he made money for them, said that he was late to a Black Friday rehearsal because he had food poisoning so someone from management went to go find him and when they found him throwing up instead of letting him go home they said if he was ever late again they wouldn’t pay him, said one of the owners was having an extremely inappropriate relationship with one of his employees(he has to be talking about Brian and Meredith here because both Nick and Matt have girlfriends who are not involved with Starkid), said that Nick and Jon weren’t accepting of his sexuality which made lockdown a living hell for him, bashed Corey, on top of a whole bunch of other shit yet still had the nerve to end the live by saying that he still wants people to support Starkid and he’s not trying to hate on them or change anybody’s opinion on them he’s just simply “speaking his truth”
Godddd
Look I hate just saying that someone's lying about traumatic stuff they went through but fuck this sounds fake
Them only caring about him making them money and not viewing him as friend is bs bc wouldn't they have put him in more stuff and made gave him more important roles so they could click into the fangirls heart which to make more money?
So many ppl got sick throughout the run of BF I'm sure several ppl were also late to rehearsals so I doubt they'd care about just Robert being late and also hasn't Starkid said and made it clear in the past that they wanna make sure they pay everyone who works on these correctly and properly?
I'd assume he's talking about Brian and Meredith there too and that's... That's so fucking stupid of him to say. This isn't a Ned Fulmer situation (just using Ned as an example here), the ways that Ned is a boss and his relationship with an employee vs the way Brian is a boss and his relationship with an employee are so different
I truly doubt Nick and Jon were accepting of him, Nick has a lesbian sister and there's so many queer Starkid characters, and actual queer Starkid's, Meredith and Clark are bi, Mariah is pan, James is gay but Robert is the only one saying he's not accepted?
Also which Corey did he bash and what fore I'm curious? No matter what ofc I'm sure it was stupid and petty
And yeah. Then he has the balls to tell ppl that he's not trying to change their opinion. Bs. Absolute fucking bull shit.

Hello, im new to dc and i was reading some Robin backstory but there's something i want to ask if you don't mind. I don't understand why Jason and Damian are hated as Robin? From what i read people can't accept Jason as Robin due to him being different than Dick but what's wrong with Damian? I see Tim being accepted despite fans anger over Jason before and he's the second most popular Robin next to Dick. I thought they'll do the same with Damian but it seems not? I understand that it's probably due to racism but is there other reason for that?
ok so. theres honestly not a simple answer to this but here we go
the thing about comics is that in the 90s there was a whole push for people wanting comics to be a little more mature and not just for kids so that adults could still read and enjoy them. and so all these kids/teenagers in the 90s were able to continue reading their favs as they grew up which is nice BUT it meant that they got very attached to tim as robin since he was robin for like. their whole childhood
so tim had a solo with 100+ issues and people loved it. and he was in things like young justice and teen titans that people also liked. and ofc he showed up in a lot of the iconic batman stories in the 90s. so then once damian comes along and is robin instead people in 2006 get upset because tim was their robin for years and they loved tim and now from their perspective tim is "forced" out of a robin role to make way for damian, leading them to hate damian (which is kind of the same thing that happened to jason, since dick had been the only robin so people loved dick for 50+ years then jason comes along and people are mad that hes not dick)
and damian was written like a moody 10 year old, and people hate when kids show emotions, so it led to people not liking damian since he was more emotional than tim and isnt a cut and clean robin
anyways damian also had some of the issues that people had to a lesser degree with jason, because damian way murderous when he first appeared. and jason (thanks to starlin) was okay with people dying. so basically they were a lil too okay with murder, again making them not a cut and clean robin and led to people not liking them
and THEN of course. we get into the racism. everyone always talks about how tim is the "relatable robin" because hes an upper-middle class white man which. um. sure. idc i wont get into that. but damian despite being drawn very white was not. not to mention the mischaracterization of talia leading to people being like "ooo damian is evil and terrible!" and people wanting their straight (lol) white boy robin back.
but thats a lot of what happened in the mid 2000s to make people not like him SO why dont people like him today!! (spoiler: the reasons are terrible)
basically a lot of people that havent actually read the comics today will love tim a lot and see that damian was mean to tim (tried to kill him. lol!) and say "grrr damian tried to hurt my sweet little tim 😡" without actually knowing or caring about damian.
then theres also the shit that still happens in the comics with damian in canon constantly being pit against batman and still wanting to kill ? like in teen titans 2016 he ran a private prison or something. idk i havent even read it because the idea sounds so stupid and i cant stand it. then in robin 2021 he was still willing to kill and all and was like "omg i dont have to hold back anymore 😍" because dc uses the same character arcs over and over and over and will never let damian get past wanting to kill 15 years ago
and of course. still the racism of people wanting damian to be a stereotype then getting mad at the stereotype that THEY shoved him into. and the same stuff from before
also a writer made damian say some homophobic stuff in like 2009 so to this day people are still like "wow.... hes homophobic.... hes going to kill jon for being bi...." despite damian not even being a little homophobic recently (except for what devin grayson did but shes going to hell for that anyways)
in summary. people all have their little beefs with damian for various reasons. its all petty shit and some racist shit and him not being the Golden Robin so people dont like him
