what I imagined for mbav after season 2:

Just before the Lucifractor explodes, Benny has a sudden rush of magic power from the Lucifractor's aura, which is why he was so attracted to it in the final scene. While they're running away (Jesse and Sarah are so weakened they can't use superspeed), Benny can see the terror in Ethan's eyes and just knows something bad will happen, and that they won't escape it fast enough. So he tells everyone to stop and uses the boost of magic to transport the group to a place far away, safe from the town.

Only he doesn't know what that place is and they find themselves in his biological mom's house, the mom that left him as a baby to his grandma because her magic was getting darker and Whitechapel was only making it grow (added dramatic effect if her dark magic accidentally killed Benny's dad, and she became so heartbroken she ran away from her son in fear of hurting him the same way). Now, she spends her days in an isolated cottage that's charmed to be invisible to the world, tending to a small garden that produces herbs to tamper her dark energy. This very garden is where the group transport to, and at first Benny's mom is scared to see supernatural intruders but soon realizes Benny is her grown-up son from the heightened aura of magic he still radiates.

So the group spends some time at the cottage recuperating while Benny finally discovers the full extent of his past. Along the way, Ethan gets to exercise his new seer powers and manages to get into Rory's mind, still under the influence of Anastasia. He discovers where the rest of the vampires are and Benny transports the group there, while Benny's mother reunites with his grandma.

Cue the og group (plus Jesse from time to time) navigating the world with stronger powers, breaking away from the Vampire Council's authority and trying to rebuild Whitechapel from the explosion's aftermath. Stern is still there but intensely weakened, and they banish him to the world that Benny's grandma created for her grandson in Independence Daze, forced to become a vice principal trapped in the school with a magic-immune robot dentist forever.

The town still doesn't bat an eye to their actions but the principal gives Erica and Sarah diplomas anyway (Erica definitely made Anastasia teach her the art of a vampire trance). The pair then starts to live the life they've always wanted: working together at different odd jobs around the town, going on dates in vampire restaurants, and enrolling thenselves into a dance competition for Experienced Dancers so they can finally show off the routine they practiced a year ago. Sarah still gets a little sad when she thinks about being a vampire for eternity, but Erica being there makes it easier to bear. Speaking of Erica, she stops hiding her affection for Sarah and doesn't even bat an eye whenever a guy walks past anymore. The more time goes by where high school boys and mean girls don't affect her, the more Erica loses the carefully crafted facade she put up after getting turned. Not to be mistaken, she still hisses at everybody except Sarah.

Benny, Ethan, and Rory choose to keep going to school, eager to experience the life of Upperclassmen when they really just want to be invited to senior parties. Ethan's visions happen much more frequently but his control over them strengthens, soon being able to sense the emotions of others. Benny is instantly terrified, because what if Ethan can tell that he likes him? Benny's magic gets exponentially stronger, to the point where he's scared it'll mutate and become dark. Luckily, when he does go into Evil Benny mode, the most evil thing he does is throw fireballs at the guy who calls him and Ethan Benny Rabbit and Teethan in the halls. Rory realizes that they're non-binary, and become much more confident in themselves. This newfound courage makes them dress cooler, talk cooler, and most importantly, transition from being the dork of the school to the coolest person there. They're still energetic and cheerful 24/7, but not so oblivious anymore. Everyday someone new asks them for their number while Benny and Ethan look on with jealousy. Jealous of Rory's charm with the students or of the students in getting their attention, they can't really tell.

There are still new creatures to face every week, but now the whole group fights them equally. Ethan and Benny don't need to call Sarah for help anymore, Rory actually makes some of the plans, and Erica starts to embrace the fact that she's stuck with these dorks for life. The problems they fight give the Avengers a run for their money, but in the end, they're still teenagers trying to do their best with the weird lives they've been dealt.

i think if Stone (a medic) met Johan (a "medic") i don't think they'd get along. i feel like Johan would have Stones hackles raising and paranoia spiking because he has this :} type smile but much more sinister like Stone, a man that doesn't smile meets a man that is constantly going :) in the most threatening way (that's not to mention Johans lack of morals. the man lost his lisence to medical malpractice for the sake of "curiosity" and has participated in human experimenting) i just feel like they wouldn't get along

now who Stone would get along with is Void. in his "after" Void actually goes to university to study astronomy so stars would be a common interest even with the dificulty in communication. he would also semi get along with Hazzard due to their like of animals. Hazzard is still a hater (no like seriously man lowkey highkey wants all of humanity dead, except him and his two people, but Romanas keeps thar side of Hazzard a secret and doesn't let that man be a hater out loud) but he would still respect his love for cats and teach him where the best places to scratch are so a cat would fall in love with you.

Romanas i feel could get along with anyone because he's an adaptable guy and can find common ground with most people. he would have problems with people who have really extreme views or extreme views that are opposite of his own extreme views (he can get nasty if he's passionate about something and people oppose it but he tries to not get into things like that for the sake of keeping peace)

now onto stone variants

if Selga ever met feral Stone he would be scared of him 100% percent. despite Selgas decent size and good strength he is rather emaciated and traumatized to the point of loosing intelligence (not to say he's stupid but lemme explain). while (to my understanding) feral Stone is still intelligent and verbal or semi verbal (correct me if im wrong) Selga just isn't. his "human" intelligence is very low and he's entirely non verbal (the most he can manage are half choked half sounds/half words, growls, hisses and other animal sounds). it's like an animal was given a slight brain boost and given a human shaped mech to pilot so if Selga (who is smaller and thinner than Stone) ever met feral Stone he'd react in fear-aggression. teeth bared, back arched (you can see his spine and ribs when he does that. Romanas and Boss are loosing hair and braincells trying to keep him healthy and well fed once Boss takes over the group). if any team mate was around Selga is glued to them and stand in front of them to "protect" them from feral Stone (if they faught Selga would put up a good fight but Stone would overpower him with weight alone. now if Selga was fully healed and in better mental condition that would be a whole different story)

Vaccine and Dartboard would try to goad feral Stone into play wrestling with them. they would nibble on him a little just to tease.

Diana would be a regular at baker Stones bakery for coffee and pastries for her and Johan (both have an insane sweet tooth)

Boss would take one look at Grim Reaper Stone and go "oh no.... that's a son that needs to be adopted" and would end up taming him like he tamed the rest of the merc group

if Void was a few years younger (he's 19 in the "now") he would go to school with Saira and probably meet girl dad Stone. good thing that Void is actually very polite and friendly if a little strange. he doesn't make messes, doesn't antagonize people and always cleans up after himself (dad Stone also gets to meet Hazzard and Romanas because there's an "inside joke" in the group that they are Voids parents and in the "after" they all live together in one house)

vampire Stone would/should meet with blood homunculus Romanas (it's what he is in a monster au. either that or some eldritch monstrosity also blood related. i have a whole thing for a monster au) because Romanas could probably provide infinite blood (he needs to drain an entire creature of any kind to sustain himself but he doesn't need to do it often and any blood ingested is automatically turned into "human" blood)

werewolf Stone meeting mutated werewolf Hazzard would be interesting since Hazzards wolf form is kinda fucked up due to radiation. he's like thrice the size of a normal werewolf, teeth long and sharp, sometimes cutting through his lips and piercing the flesh of his jaw, radioactive drool spilling from his maw, spikes along his back, massive claws loaded with radioactive toxins. (that's all while he's in wolf form) despite all that Hazzard is pretty chill and wouldn't go attacking all willy nilly (hell if it wasn't so dangerous he would even play with pups but he can't without it being potentially dangerous :( )

Vendetta doesn't actually belong to the merc group. they're more of a solo act but they follow Romanas due to... circumstances. so it's a killer for hire working for other killers for hire

idk about criminal Stone or serial killer Stone. with criminal it's most likely that Romanas (or another oc simply known as "D") is a friend of mafia boss and is like a brother to him so that's how they meet.

Serial killer idk. someone from the merc group would try and recruit him but i bet he'd decline because mercs and morals don't mix all that well

First, I wanna know why Tumblr didn't notify me that I got this ask. SMH.

Second of all, yeah, Stone and Johan would not get along at all. Stone hates people who smile so much, he's so suspicious of people like that. He understands why that man got his medical license provoked and he's thinking about running far away from Johan as possible. His paranoia either makes him want to fight and kill or run, and in the case he'd rather run.

Stone actually has gone non-verbal in some situations, so he does know sign language. But it's American Sign Language. So if Void doesn't know that... Well, they could always communicate via a notepad, right?

He'd respect Hazzard not liking most people. He'd respectfully stay away because he's secretly polite like that.

I can't see a reason why Romanas and Stone wouldn't get along, so I'm assuming they're going to get along.

Feral!Stone is semi verbal, but he much prefers growling and snarling to communicate. Yeah, he'd see Selga as a threat. In that same respect, Vaccine and Dartboard might not want to play wrestle with him because while they might nibble on him, he might just straight-up take chunks out of them.

Baker!Stone would enjoy having Diana come into his bakery. He'd be happy to sell her any pastry she wants.

Grim Reaper!Stone would cry if Boss called him "son". Like yes, hello, teach me how to be my own person, please and thank you. He'd be Boss's now, no getting rid of him.

Experiment!Stone is running away from Johan just like how Canon!Stone but unfortunately for Canon!Stone, Experiment!Stone is faster and he will not be picking up Canon!Stone to help him escape Johan.

Girl Dad!Stone would enjoy Void. He'd be like "Can I adopt you?" Someone better stop this man from stealing Void from the team because he'd see a child that was just like how he was and he'd want to give him a happier life.

Vampire!Stone would absolutely love Romanas if Romanas provided him with infinite blood. He's a big boy so he needs a lot of blood.

Werewolf!Stone staring at mutated werewolf Hazzard and being like "I know he hates people, but would he kill me if I courted him??" Man needs to know when not to court someone.

If Romanas is someone who is close to the mafia boss and thus the mafia boss really likes him, Criminal!Stone will do everything in his power to protect him. He wants the mafia boss to be happy, always.

Serial Killer!Stone is staring at Johan (aka messed up morals man) and is like "I have to kill him." But yeah, he has too high morals to become a mercenary. Instead of running away like the other Stones, Serial Killer!Stone is running towards Johan because he will not back down when it comes to wiping people who have fucked up morals off the planet.

Abandoned Mask + Mask’s Calling

A character I no longer roleplay

I can't think of any character who 100 percent fits this question, so I'll give you two characters who sort of do for half credit each

The first one who comes to mind is one you know very well: Geronimo Sang, basically an Indy/Nathan Drake expy from Miami. Born in Britain, moved to the States with his wealthy family, and became an investor as part of his family's firm, Hughes and Son. Had a brother named Rafael with whom he shared a bit of a rivalry. When he's not doing investment work, he's adventuring for the heck of it, and he had a proficiency with both shotguns and rifles. His longtime enemies were the Masons, a secret society who controlled many things behind the scenes and were always one step behind Geronimo as he collected the McGuffin for the week.

Since then, I evolved him into another character, Augustus Hughes, who was involved in Colette's original big project I did with @canuck-sweets33 over half a decade ago. He was still the son of a wealthy business magnate, but this time he was a necromancer who could speak with the dead and possessed light and dark magic capabilities. Like Geronimo, he was still an anthro wolf, but I made him American. Instead of the adventurous spirit his original incarnation was, he was nervous, mild-mannered, and generally wanted to remain uninvolved with anything troublesome. However, trouble found him anyway when he married the love of his life, Annette Wise. On the day of his wedding, malevolent spirits terrorized the Stockholm church, killing three and injuring dozens. Augustus, along with his just-married wife, brother-in-law, and Colette, defeated the spirits and the source of them all, but it was a pyrrhic victory in what would become later known as the Black Wedding.

From that point, I've since evolved him again in the project you and I are working on collaboratively, Blazing Tails. Both of us know what we intend to do with him, but for everyone else...imagine if Saul Goodman were a necromancer on the side.

The second is Reagan Masters, werewolf library worker. He disagreed with his local werewolf pack regarding relations between werewolves and everyone else. He opposed the current werewolf leader in a sort of election, voicing his concerns that antagonizing everyone else wouldn't do much to help anyone. His opponent had a more "pro-werewolf" outlook and claimed that the pack needed to focus on protecting itself, even at the cost of non-lycan lives. This Reagan left the werewolf clan, drove a Prius to work every day, and largely kept to himself, "lone-wolfing" it, as it were. I hadn't seen Underworld, but I thought it was the coolest thing ever to have a werewolf fall in love with some vampire chick, and I thought it'd never been done before.

Man, I was stupid in high school.

Not much happened with Reagan on Tumblr (I remember some guy on here saying "I really don't give a shit about Masters" straight to me, so there's that), but what was really popping off was the RPs that astronaut-max and I did on Facebook, back when I still used it. Reagan fell in with two druids, a germaphobic academic and a lanky stoner, and got into some wacky adventures, including one where Reagan twerked and performed "My Bubble Gum" by Rasheeda to distract an eldritch abomination long enough to ensure he and his friends could escape with their lives.

The RP was named "Claw and Order," and while I may cringe at the ideas I thought were fire back then, I figure it was good I had those experiences. It goes to show how far I've come as a writer. Max made a character who's still referenced to this day. ("Dylan! You son of a bitch!") There was even an AU where our characters were put in the world of Bullworth Academy, where Gary was a self-proclaimed "alpha" werewolf. The original verse of Claw and Order saw Reagan in his early 20s. I've since then stopped RPing this version of Reagan, but I kept a few ideas for his current evolution. Now, Reagan is in his 40s and is a supervisor in a subdivision of the FBI called the Supernatural Investigation Network, or SIN. Colette and others work for a private society unconnected to the federal government that straight up dispatches magical threats. The feds didn't like the idea of such a secretive society dealing with everything magical, so they made their own society that focuses on investigation instead of assassination.

Reagan deals with magical occurrences around the East Coast, primarily in Philadelphia. For roughly a week every month, he shifts into his werewolf form at night involuntarily, but investigations still need to be done and bills still need to be paid. He'd put on a few pounds since his younger days, but he's still a formidable hand-to-hand fighter when it comes down to it. The keyboard in his office, as well as the laptop he carries, has myriad scratch marks on it, but at least his computers can recognize the tone of his growls whenever he has to work when he's shifted.

Typically, I only play him in human verses instead of anthro verses, especially in verses where Sergio is a vampire hunter.

A character I'm on the fence about RPing

I have several characters I'm on the fence about RPing in an official capacity. Reagan is actually one of them. I'll need to do some tweaking for him before rolling out the red carpet for him, but I get the feeling a werewolf DILF shouldn't be too hard to garner attention for.

I've already RPed as Grollor's father Grollark a few times, but I haven't made a page for him yet. If enough people want to interact with a 50-something orc pirate who loves his wife, kid, and pet a whole lot, that could be a possibility.

And even though I have a page for her, I'm still on the fence about Qisalor. Considering how she's the main villain in the first DND campaign, you'd think I'd want to use her more, but for whatever reason I've just not had any muse for her. She just doesn't feel interesting at the moment, and canonically she wouldn't talk to so many people's muses since they're humans. Heck, she'd probably just try to kill them on sight if they approached her. Because of that, I could see how Qisalor might not be anyone's first pick. So, I'll put her on hiatus for the moment until I come up with some more Qisa-lore.

Prologue

0 Fake It Till It Breaks You —Hudson— 

I’ll allow it for the prologue, but you’re on thin ice.

I’m going to lose it if this book introduces alternating first person POV. 

And when I finally surrender to my fate, I’m afraid it will destroy us all.

Prologue summary: Grace and Hudson sit around Hudson’s room at the school. Flint is being taken care of in the nearest hospital, but sent everybody non-essential away. Now Hudson watches his mate endlessly checking for messages about Flint’s condition that haven’t come in yet. We aren’t exactly off to a good start, especially when you realise that there’s close to 1k pages and 178 chapters. 

Chapter 1

Which is just another way of saying we are completely screwed. Again.

Chapter 1 summary: An unknown amount of time later, everybody sits around in the infirmary and kind of goes “Well shit.” And I get that now’s a good of a time as any to sit around and sulk about a sucky situation, but at the same time… Literally the first two and a half pages of chapter one are nothing but this sulking. It got old before the end of the first page, and by the time that somebody finally bothered to speak, I wanted to chuck something at one of them. 

Somebody mentions that they have to tell Luca’s parents that he’s dead. That there’s literally a 48 hour window before a dead vampire’s body turns into dust. That his family deserves to bury their son. Somebody else points out that since Luca’s family are obviously vampires, they don’t know whose side they would be on. Calling them, even to give a notification of death, would be playing Russian roulette with word getting back to Cyrus. This divides everybody into groups of those who agree that no contact is the way to go, vs those who would tell the grieving parents that their son is dead. 

Chapter 2

With those dark emotions flashing over their expressions, the Order shifts so that they’re all standing at Jaxon’s back as he faces off against Hudson.

I literally can’t even. How the fuck do they expect to take down Cyrus when literally one thing set them off?

“Now we wait,” Hudson answers, his eyes on the door Jaxon just disappeared through. “And hope we’re not making a huge mistake.”

Chapter 2 summary: The group is so divided about this that it literally almost comes to blows. I’m not kidding; they all get up and choose their side. Grace stands in between them and reminds them of how unsafe that it is. But if things were ready to come to a literal fist-fight, then I don’t think that her reminder convinced anybody.

Marise tells them that she can stay at the school, while the group goes somewhere safer. But they all agree that they’re not going to leave Marise behind, no matter what. 

Eventually, it’s decided that if they don’t notify Luca’s family, that they’d be no better than Cyrus. Hudson sits back, clearly waiting for his “I told you so” moment. 

Chapter 3

“But our magic is tied to our soul. If Cyrus is trying to siphon it, he’ll end up killing them!”

Cyrus literally led a genocide against the gargoyles. You think he gives a shit if children die?

But now, realizing he might only want them for their magic, that he has no need to keep them alive after he’s taken what he wants from them, I can’t believe I took the time for a shower. Or—oh my God—actually made out with Hudson while students might be dying. 

…Okay. And? You don’t have a plan. You have like a dozen exhausted and injured SCHOOL CHILDREN on your side. And the school nurse, who is also injured. 

What exactly are you planning to do? 

“Luca’s parents are leaving now.” His face is grim, his eyes infinite pools of grief. “They’ll be here by morning.”

Chapter 3 summary: As Marise fusses over Flint, they try to ask what happened. She doesn’t have a lot to say. Except that she’s pretty sure that Cyrus took the kids not as hostages or for leverage, but to drain them of their magic and toss them aside. The thought makes Grace full of guilt that she took some time to take care of her own needs. 

Eventually, there’s literally nothing for them to do except to stand around and listen as Marise gives care instructions for Flint’s broken leg. They all stand and act like Flint’s care is the single most important thing in the entire world. 

Jaxon eventually tells them that he contacted Luca’s parents; they’ll be there in the morning.

I've always wondered this, but what do you think the Cullen's political viewpoints would be, given their individual backgrounds? if vampires don't change after they turn, then surely they would all be extremely racist (especially Jasper). would this not come up at some point? they aren't like the Volturi because the Volturi are too old to care, but the Cullens are young enough that they have been brought up with opinions on stuff like sexism, racism, homophobia and the like.

Since I'm guessing you meant American political viewpoints, we need a disclaimer. I am not American, and not too knowledgeable about your politics. Not just in the sense that I don't follow the day-to-day drama, but as I am not an American citizen there are several things I don't know, can't know because I've never lived in your country and therefore can't know what the effects of living in a country ruled by American policies is like. What I do know is based off of the news in the foreign section, social media (by which I mean tumblr posts), and Trevor Noah's Daily Show.

I am an outsider looking in.

Which is really rather appropriate, since the Cullens are too.

The Cullens go to high school and college, Carlisle works, they pay taxes, they own real estate, and submerge themselves in American culture. Esme, Edward, Rosalie, Emmett, and Bella are young enough that this is in many ways their world, and apart from timeouts they've more or less spent their entire lives, human and vampire, integrated into American society.

Not fully integrated, mind you, they do what they need to to fit in and get to school or, in Carlisle’s case, to work. They go no further. No extra-curriculars for the kids, no book clubs for Esme, no game nights for Carlisle. They walk parallel to humans, not among us.

In addition to this they're obscenely rich, which puts them another thousand miles from the experiences of your average American. They won't deal with the health system, which means healthcare is a non-issue, they're not going to need welfare or other social programs, unemployment is another non-issue. Name your issue, and the Cullens don't have personal stake in it. Even the climate crisis won't be a problem for them the way it will for us.

What I'm trying to say is, American political issues are a concept to them, not a lived reality. Just like they are for me. So hey, you made a great choice of blog to ask.

I'll also add here that you say the Volturi are too old to care, and I agree- from an ancient's point of view, racism is a matter of "which ethnicity are we hating today?", and it all looks rather arbitrary after a while. Same with every other issue - after a while it all just blends together into "what are the humans fighting over today? Which Christian denomination is the correct one? Huh. Good for them, I guess."

I can't put it any better than this post did, really. The Volturi are real people, humans are nerds and tumblr having Loki discourse. Aro thinks it's delightful and knows entirely too much about Watergate (and let's be real, Loki discourse as well), but the point I wanted to get at is that politics really don't matter to vampires.

And I don't think they matter to the Cullens either.

So, moving on to the next point while regretting I didn't put headlines in this post, I'll just state that I don't think vampires' minds are frozen. Their brains are unable to develop further, and they can never forget anything, but... well, this isn't the post for that, but in order for this to be true of vampires they would barely be sentient. They would not be able to process new impressions, to learn new things, nor to have an independent thought process. Yes, we see vampires in-universe (namely, Edward, who romanticizes himself and vampires) believe they're frozen and can never change, but there is no indication that this is a widespread belief, or even true. Quite the contrary - Carlisle went from a preacher's son who wanted to burn all the demons to living in Demon Capital for decades and then becoming a doctor and making a whole family of demons. Clearly, the guy has had a change in attitude over the years. Jasper, in his years as a newborn army general, slowly grew disenchanted with his life and developed depression. James initially meant to kill Victoria and hunted her across the earth, then became fascinated and changed his mind about it.

Had these people been incapable of change, Carlisle would still be hating demons, Jasper would be in Maria's army, and James would still be hunting Victoria.

It goes to follow, then, that they are able to adapt to new things.

The question is, would they?

Here I finally answer your question.

So, we have these people who don't really have any kind of stake in politics, who keep up to date all the same (or are forcibly kept up to date because high school) and are generally opinionated people.

Where do they then fall, politically?

(And this is where you might want to stop reading, anon, because I'm about to eviscerate these people.)

Alice votes for whoever's gonna win. She also makes a fortune off of betting each election. Trump's 1 to 10 victory in 2016 was a great day to be Alice. MAGA!

The actual policies involved are completely irrelevant, she does this because it's fun. Election means she gets to throw parties. Color coded parties for the Republican and Democratic primaries, and US-themed parties for Election Night! (Foreigner moment right here: I at first wrote "Election wake" before realizing that's not what y'all murricans call it.)

Alice loves politics. Doesn't know the issues, but she sure loves politics.

Bella votes Democrat. She actually knows about the issues, and cares about them. This girl is a Democrat through and through.

Carlisle doesn't vote. I can't imagine it feels right. Outside of faked papers he's not a US citizen, this is meddling in human affairs that he knows don't concern him.

More, this guy has never lived in a democracy.

In life, Carlisle lived under an absolute monarchy that, upon civil war, became an absolute theocracy. From there he learned that vampires live under a total dictatorship.

For the first 150 years of his life, democracy was that funky thing the Athenians did in history books thousands of years ago, no more relevant to him than the Ancient Egyptian monarchy is to me. Then the Americans, and later other European countries started doing this.

Good for them.

There's this mistake often made by those who view history from a... for lack of a better term, a solipsistic standpoint. A belief that the present day is the culmination of all of history. “My society is the best society, the most reasonable society; all the others had it backwards. Thank god we’re living in this enlightened age!”

The faith in our current system of government is one such belief. We (pardon me if this doesn’t apply to everybody reading this post) have grown up in democracies, being told this is the ultimate form of rule, and perhaps that is true - but remember the kings who have told their subjects they had were divine and the best possible ruler based on that. Remember also that most modern democracies haven’t actually been democracies for very long at all, America is the longest standing at some 230 years (not long at all in the grand scope of things) and they have a fracturing two-party system to show for it.

Every society, ever, has been told they’re the greatest, and their system of government the most just. Democracy is only the latest hit.

This is relevant to Carlisle because he’s immortal and decidedly not modern. Democracy has not been installed in him the way it was the rest of the Cullens, Jasper included. To him- well, it’s just not his world. He has no stakes in our human politics, and as he is older than every current democracy and has seen quite a few of them fall, he’s not going to internalize the democratic form of rule the way a modern human has.

I think the concept of voting is foreign to him.

It requires a level of participation in human society that he’s simply not at. He does the bare minimum to appear human so he do the work he loves, but nothing more, and I find that telling.

As it is I think he'd be iffy about his family doing it. He won’t stop them, but in voting they’re... well it’s kind of cheating. They’re not really citizens, none of this will affect them, and by voting they’re drowning out the votes of real human voters. He does not approve.

Edward votes Democrat. He's... well he’s the kind of guy who will oil a girl’s bedroom window so he can more easily watch her sleep without being discovered, justifying it to himself as being okay because if she were to tell him to get lost he’d stop immediately. Same guy is so sure that he’d leave and never return again if she wanted him to, except this is the man who returned to Forks to hang around his singer, knowing there was a significant chance he might kill her. To say nothing of his Madonna/Whore complex, or of the fact that he tried to pimp out his wife twice, and was willing to forcibly abort her child.

This guy is very much in love with chivalry, with being an enlightened and feminist man who supports and respects women, while not understanding the entire point of feminism, which is female liberation.

He votes Democrat because he’s such an enlightened feminist who cares about women’s rights.

Emmett doesn’t care to vote, but if he has to he votes Republican. The guy is from the 1930′s, and has major would-be-the-uncle-who-cracks-racist-jokes-if-he-was-older vibes.

Esme doesn’t vote, that would require getting out of the house.

More, I just... can’t see it. I can’t see her being one to read up on politics and The Issues, period, but if she has to then I doubt she’d be able to decide.

Jasper doesn’t vote. Alice can have her fun, he does not care.

There’s also the whole can of worms regarding the last time he went to bat for American politics.

I imagine he stays out of this.

Renesmée doesn't vote. She has no stock in the human affairs. Who would she vote for, on what grounds? When Bella tries to pull her to the urns, she points out that she's three years old.

Rosalie, guys, I’m sorry, but that girl is definitely gonna vote Republican. Perhaps not right now as it’s become the Trump party of insanity, but the Mitt Romney type of Republicans? Oh yes.

And for the record, yes I imagine she does vote. To step back from politics would be another way she was relinquishing her humanity, and that’s not allowed to happen. So, yes, she goes to the urns, less for the sake of the politics involved and more because like this, she’s still a part of society in some way.

Now, onto why I think she’s Republican, I think it’s both fiscal and social.

This girl was the daughter of a banker who somehow profited off of the Depression, and who then became part of a family with no material needs that would soon become billionaires thanks to Alice. Poverty to Rosalie is a non-issue, as it is I imagine she views it as a much lesser issue than what she’s had to deal with. The humans can pull themselves up by their bootstraps, Rosalie’s infertility is forever.

Rosalie’s empathy is strongest when she’s able to project onto others, and she won’t be able to project onto the less fortunate at all.

Then there’s the fact that the Republican party is all about traditional family values, and pro-life.

Rosalie, a woman from the 1930′s who idolizes her human life and who‘d love nothing more than to get to live out this fantasy, is down for that. And as of Breaking Dawn she’s vocally pro-life, so there’s that.

This all being said I don’t think Rosalie cares to sit down and fully understand these politics she’s voting for, the possible impact they’ll have- that’s not important. What’s important is what voting does for her.

Kiibo Idabashi, a young vampire, has lived all his life at home with his father. In his teens however, the boy is determined to learn about humanity and wishes to blend in.

Vampiric traits: Long, sharp upper canines that protrude from the mouth, pointy ears, (small pair of black bat wings [DEBATING]), pale blue pupils that turn red when savagely hungry/inflicted with strong emotion, sharp/claw-like nails/fingers, permanently cold body temp (cold to the touch), does not blush nor bleed (due to absence of blood in the body), does not breathe, & has no heartbeat

Vampiric abilities: Studies arcane books to cast magic (casts an illusion on self to appear more human (however fangs no longer protrude yet are still oddly long for a "human"), does other simple spells (TBA ?) that get stronger w/ studying + over time), (can hover a little off the ground in human form [DEBATING]), can turn into a vampire bat, has a prolonged life span (can live up and over maybe 1000 years [DEBATING], but for Kiibo rn he's in around his teens) and physically stops aging around late 30s

Outfits: [School: Black cap + gloves, coat over button-up, slacks, & slip-on shoes], [Home: It's really casual so smth like a graphic tee & sweatpants could work], [Outside, Daytime: Black cap + gloves, jacket/hoodie, same slacks & shoes (might take an umbrella?)], [Outside, Nighttime: Loose blue gemstone brooch necklace, black cloak coat on top of a black button-up vest + white button-up long sleeve, black slacks, & black dress shoes (he can be fancy/kinda gothic at night, as a treat)] (ALL WIP AND BEING DEBATED)

Does not die under direct sunlight, but his pale skin is very susceptible to harsh sunburns so he prefers to cover up & avoid said sunlight

Does require sleep and goes to bed around the afternoon (4pm specifically) and wakes up around midnight to start his day

Can handle silver fine & can be seen in mirrors regularly, but feels ill around/when in contact with religious items or places

Can live off normal foods, but they taste very bland aside from the smallest hint of flavor (and isn't heavily nutritious). Blood is a very much recommended source of food however for the amount of nutrition it provides (plus it has a lot more flavor lmao). Kiibo has only consumed animal blood (whether it be the actual liquid as a drink or through foods like blood sausage), and doubts he'll ever get human blood (not that he wants to)

Though speaking of blood, sometimes in colder months he'll get hunger pangs for it. During those times, he'll be more snappy/prone to lash out when he isn't sated.

Anyway enough about that, let's move onto other stuff!

As stated, he's lived his entire life so far at home. He was homeschooled by his protective father (who very much has his reasons which won't be revealed yet) and is very much deprived of social skills

After a while of pleading though, Kiibo convinced his father to let him attend public school, and gets sent to Hope's Peak Academy (though due to lack of ultimate talents and for the sake of things, there's no dorms on campus so students just go back home [DEBATING])

While very reluctant, his father decides his son is growing up (and perhaps really should get social skills for later in life). Not only that but with no longer having to homeschool Kiibo, his father can focus more on his job as a roboticist

so my last post looking into a scene to hear what they said was a deleted scene and that honestly got me on a kick now about looking though them all. This one is mainly going to be just taking about them/details more then a what I heard post. So here we go.

1- fighting over rooms

This was in the script and the book but never made it into the film, Sam was in the room Michael wanted and they fought for it. So this scene is the context behind Sam bolting down the stairs “MOM PLEASE! Ma! You gotta help me!” “S o o n”

Lily Evans and Severus Snape: Headcanons

So, I was asked in the ask about Sirius and Regulus what I thought about Snape and Lily. At this point people are probably going, “Oh that Carnivorous Muffin is just clearly a Snape stan who thinks he could never do anything wrong and anyone who was slightly mean to him is evil.” Shockingly, I’m actually not, I just happen to think sexual harassment and attempted murder are bad and probably worse than JKR intended (I do think she was trying to go the “boys will be boys” route versus “oh my god, they just dumped pigs blood on Carrie at the prom and then threw her at a starving vampire”)

So let’s start on Snape.

First, Snape did live an incredibly shitty life, with circumstances beyond his control, that did lead to many of his poorer choices. In no way am I saying that it was alright for Snape to have grown up in an impoverished, abusive, household and endured years of humiliation and torment at school. 

That said, I believe that we all, in some respects, are responsible for our actions and our decisions. Yes, even when we come from non-privileged backgrounds. Life is hard, some people will have it much easier than you, that doesn’t excuse you becoming a domestic terrorist or tormenting and terrifying your students, young children, so much so that an entire generation comes out with a loathing and incompetence in your subject.

I guess let’s start back on his friendship with Lily Evans. We get... a really weird perspective from Snape on that friendship. Time and her tragic death have warped it into this strange worship where I’m not sure the Lily Evans that exists in his mind and memory is the one that really was there. She’s this shining Madonna idol who he failed, actively betrayed, is very very hung up about it years later.

I suspect they weren’t as good of friends as either of them thought they were and it comes down to Snape’s resentment of his own upbringing and muggles. I believe Snape was very racist towards muggles, specifically, due to his father. It was his way of grappling with his home life and only fueled by being in Slytherin. Lily was probably, in his mind, always a golden exception to the rule (Lily is the token, gold standard, muggleborn where she’s pretty, brilliant, charming, etc.) That Severus himself was a halfblood clearly caused him some angst. What I’m getting at is that I believe throughout their entire friendship, especially when they got to Hogwarts, there was an unacknowledged undercurrent of intense racism that eventually boiled up with that one incident in Snape’s fifth year.

Calling her that, while he views it as a slip of the tongue that damned him for all time, I see it more as a Freudian Slip. That sort of thing doesn’t just slip out from nowhere, not at that age when they both knew exactly what that word meant, it simmers beneath the surface, and was ultimately what he thought of her. Later, she became the Madonna figure that he views her as today (ironically perhaps even less of a person than he viewed her as at the time).

That said I think a number of factors played into the young Snape becoming a Death Eater. One, becoming friends with Lucius/that crowd who were all being sucked into Tom’s influence. Two, having his terrible home life and all the implications of Snape resenting his own blood status as well as muggles and muggle borns at large. Three, the loss of friendship with Lily (now there’s nothing to hold him back anymore, he has no reason to preserve muggleborn life). Fourth, Dumbledore’s letting Sirius, James, and Remus entirely off the hook in the werewolf incident.

That last one, especially, I imagine cemented Snape’s utter hatred of ‘the light’ (don’t get me started on the stupidity of light/dark in Harry Potter but I guess I’ll use the term) and those that cater to muggleborns. They’re hypocrites of the highest order, Dumbledore claiming to defend the poor and non-nobility, when he goes and does the exact opposite (James is the next lord Potter, Sirius is still pureblooded even if disowned, Severus Snape is a dirt poor halfblood). 

So what I’m saying is I understand why Snape did become a Death Eater, I do not condone this action. Especially as, unlike Regulus, Snape never gets cold feet. He loves being a Death Eater at first, he’s living the dream, getting all the revenge he ever wanted and burning the stupid wizarding world to the ground as he scrambles for ways to climb in Tom Riddle’s graces. We don’t see any hint that he was wavering, thinking of the fact that beloved Lily might die in battle, perhaps at his hand, until the prophecy. 

Now, I’m a little kinder than some about the prophecy. We know Snape overhears the first portion of the prophecy in early 1980. He eagerly rushes to the dark lord, regales him with the prophecy in both a) aid to the cause and b) in the hopes of climbing in the ranks and gaining the dark lord’s notice. At this point, Lily Evans is pregnant, perhaps knows the gender, but has not given birth. Months later, when both Neville Longbottom and Harry Potter are born at the end of July, Snape realizes he has signed Lily Evans’ death warrant (because despite Dumbledore talking, I imagine Tom always planned to kill off both children, Pettigrew just happened to make things convenient for Tom to go to the Potters first).

With Lily’s death now so inevitable, and her blood on his own hands, Snape has his existential crisis, goes to Dumbledore who puts the Potters in hiding and becomes a double agent. Snape also pleads for Lily’s life with Tom and he puts in a minimal amount of effort to spare the woman. 

Then Lily dies anyway and now Snape lives in the bitter cynicism most commonly seen in characters from Game of Thrones. He’s Dumbledore’s agent and sort of a Dirty Harry character, getting to see all the nasty things that many of the other order members never have to deal with. He’s one of the more intelligent characters in the series, able to see the truth of the world he lives in, but he also doesn’t care enough to actually do anything about it. He’s a bitter, resentful, and angry protector of Harry Potter, choosing to hate a naive child for all the reminders of his own terrible life (both in Lily, for failing and betraying her, and in James his most hated rival and tormentor). He gleefully enables the favoritism of Slytherin (my god how he panders to Draco Malfoy) while tormenting poor Neville into terror (that Neville’s greatest 13 year old fear is Snape is very telling).

Basically by the time we get to him in canon Snape not only isn’t happy but I think he doesn’t want to be happy. He’s accustomed to his bitterness, his cynicism, his quiet rage and moves forward out of both resignation, guilt, and a sense of obligation to a woman’s ghost. The actions he takes in canon aren’t so much for Harry as they are for the memory of Lily Evans.

Even if Snape could be happy at that point, change his life or his purpose, I do not think he would. He’s a man who has given up on life.

Now, onto Lily Evans.

You probably think I’m going to rail on her to for the sheer hypocrisy and nerve of marrying James Potter. I’m actually not. Lily Evans is one of my favorite characters in the Harry Potter series and probably the one I’d label as the most moral (though that’s a very low bar in Harry Potter, the characters are almost all assholes, but even so Lily would still be very high on the list).

You know what, I’m just going to damn myself and sound like a crazy person. Lily Evans always reads to me as a more moral young female Tom Riddle.

What the hell? You undoubtedly ask but I’ll explain.

Lily, while having a far more stable homelife than Tom Riddle, also comes from a muggleborn background. She’s exceptionally brilliant, very good looking, and very charming with a lot of people who would call her friends but no one close. Lily, aside from Snape (and that’s debatable), has no friends.

If Lily had not been a Gryffindor, and were Dumbledore not a raging misogynist, his Tom Riddle bells likely would have been ringing with her.

“But wait, that can’t be right!”

Oh, yes it can. First, as I went into above with Snape and Lily, there was something deeply wrong with that friendship. I believe they both considered themselves best friends, didn’t see many of the warning flags, but ultimately we see the giant fissure when Snape lets loose the m-word. Given all of that, I would not label them having been true friends in the first place. Just the appearance of friends.

Otherwise, while it’s very easily to canonically point out James’ friends it’s incredibly difficult to do so with Lily. First, people hardly remember Lily. We get Dumbledore talking about her like she’s the Virgin Mary, saving her son with the power of her love. We get Snape’s weird Virgin Mary impressions of her. Otherwise, it’s pretty much just Slughorn. Everyone else remembers that she married James and that was great because JAMES WAS SO COOL and that she had very striking eyes and was “nice”. Lily is less than a ghost in Harry Potter canon (sadly Harry never really realizing it).

Also, unlike James who has Sirius, Remus, and Peter to point towards (that are very important characters in canon). Lily has no one. The godmother was Alice Longbottom, a woman many years older than Lily and James who probably liked Lily well enough but I can’t imagine was a close friend. In canon there’s an offhand mention of two girls named Mary and Marlene but we don’t see much of them/Severus was always cited as Lily’s closest friend. As for Lily’s sister, well we know they’re estranged. I think it’s very telling that Lily writes a letter to Sirius, James’ best friend and certainly not hers, telling him that James is pouting over his invisibilty cloak. It’s because there was no one else to write.

So Lily Evans is a brilliant girl, who everyone likes and is very charming, but has no friends and led a very lonely and short life.

Here’s where my slack towards Lily comes in.

When she dumps Snape I completely understand why she did so. Snape dropping that word wasn’t simply a mistake, a moment of infinite regret, but something that revealed what he truly thought of her and where she came from. Lily was absolutely right in walking away.

However, without Snape, her closest friend is suddenly gone and the world is cold. As graduation approaches I imagine Lily’s career options become clearer and clearer. While very talented and smart, Lily is a muggleborn, what job she does manage to get (thanks to the sheer nepotism of the wizarding world/lack of jobs) will likely be through Slughorn if she manages to get a job at all. The world is cold and it is cruel and no one seems to even notice.

Cue James Potter. I do believe, probably until seventh year, Lily loathed James, not simply because of the horrifying things he did to Severus (and I’m sure she knew very little of it, Snape hiding most of it from her out of pride and shame), but because he’s just a giant dick. He’d make flirting with her a kind of game and joke to be shared with Sirius, something to hold over Snape’s head, like she’s a prize to be one.

However, by seventh year the werewolf incident has happened, Snape’s retreated further and further into Death Eater recruit land and she’s cut him off, and for all my “James is a dick” I do imagine he calmed down a little. Now that Snape is no longer friends with Lily/after the whole almost murder incident I imagine they didn’t bully him nearly as much as they used to. Though yes, they probably still bullied him, but Lily probably doesn’t know that now that she’s lost contact with Snape. 

James is charming and very good looking. He seems a bit more mature than he used to be. Lily is desperately lonely, living in a world that rejects everything she is, and James seems like one of the few who does support her (that James is more of a ‘pretty fly for a white guy’ kind of support for muggleborns doesn’t hit until later). So Lily is charmed and makes the largest mistake of her life, she and James start dating.

Now, given their extreme youth as well as Lily’s pedigree (say what you like, I don’t think Mr. and Mrs. Potter were thrilled that their son was dating a muggleborn) I imagine the wedding was a shot gun wedding and Lily got unintentionally pregnant. Yes, go ahead and throw fruit at me or call foul, I just can’t imagine they’d want a child that young while in the middle of a war while they’re part of an active resistance movement and only just out of Hogwarts.

Then things start snowballing downhill. Lily and James have just joined the resistance movement, Lily’s son is prophesied to defeat Voldemort, they strongly suspect one of James’ close friends is a spy, and they’re forced into hiding.

In hiding is where I imagine stress runs high and their marriage begins to fall apart. We know from Lily’s letter that James was routinely leaving hiding, using the cloak, so he could meet up with Sirius and Peter (I imagine Lupin’s on the out as they suspected he was the spy). While James might not realize what a big deal that was, I imagine Lily always did, and she begins to realize just what she’s gotten herself into but there’s no way out while in hiding.

Now we go really off the rails into headcanon territory in: what the hell is up with Harry Potter?

In my stories, I often choose the unwitting god route. Harry can’t die because he is a god, he becomes the master of death and always was the master of death. This is an answer, but it’s one that makes canon Harry a god and... I would not want canon Harry as a god. JKR and Dumbledore push the “Lily loved her child so much that it deflected death... multiple times” but this always felt... unsatisfying. Many parents love their children (fathers too, JKR, let’s not make this weird Virgin Mary thing) and yet Harry Potter alone in the history of mankind survives multiple times. 

Most likely, Lily pulled off some insane bullshit with absolutely no resources and minimal education AND EVERYONE IGNORES IT. We do know that Lily crafted the blood wards, wards stronger than anything Dumbledore himself can come up with/than Voldemort can break. Ones that protect Harry not only at home but away from it as it melts Voldemort for simply touching his skin. Lily pulled off the impossible in only a few months and did it right under everyone’s nose.

This makes her easily one of the most intelligent characters in Harry Potter. Probably beating out Dumbledore and maybe tying with Tom Riddle. And Dumbledore tells us, “Your Virgin Mary mother loved you so much, Harry, that it courses through your veins and lights those that would want to harm you on fire.”

So, that’s Lily for you.

Now, that said, I’m probably a bit biased and clearly very lenient with her marrying James. To be honest it took me years to figure out why the hell Lily would ever marry James after what happened with Severus and was always one of those weird canon things I never quite understood. He’s that good looking and charming, I guess, was my response.

The answer I now land on with some confidence was that the world is that cruel and bleak and Lily was utterly alone for two years.

By the way, a side note/plug, of all my stories while head canons do pop up here and there I think “October” is one where they tend to crop up more. It’s a vast AU of canon, but it gives an idea of what I think x character would do in y situation.

James comes back as a vampire 12 years after the fact (so 3rd year for harry in like december) and the law says children can't live alone with vampires so James has to marry someone by the end of the school year or harry goes back to his aunt and uncle. James starts to panic until Remus informs him that gay marriage has since been legalized, after which he proposes to Sirius, and he says yes and they're very in love and it's so cute

Hogwarts had vampire wards. James hadn't known about that. His idea had been to march right up to Dumbledore and ask what the hell he was thinking, leaving his son with two muggles that hated magic, but he couldn't get through. It's not like he'd been planning on kidnapping Harry (well, he’d considered it but decided otherwise), but he wanted to see him. It had been over a decade. The last time he'd seen his boy, he'd been a baby; he could say a handful of babbled words and run around, and that had been it.

James gave a frustrated kick to the impenetrable wall that was keeping him from seeing his son, then whirled away to find Remus. He'd already seen in the paper that Sirius was an escaped convict, which wouldn't make him easy to find. Remus, however, was very likely still in Wales, staying in his parent's old house.

He needed somebody to help him plan. There were a dozen different things that needed to be done, and he no idea how to accomplish any of it. Which he wasn't used to. Becoming a vampire had changed more than just his diet.

For the first five years, sunlight had burned him, so he couldn't leave if he wanted to. And his sire hadn't wanted for him to leave, so he'd been unable to. It was only when his sire bit off more than he could chew-- centaur, you'd think he would've known better, even if their blood was supposedly ambrosia-- that James had been able to leave the grounds. And he wasn't too sure about whether or not immortality was a myth, but he did know that his body hadn't changed appearance since his transition. He wouldn't be surprised if, sixty years from now, he dropped dead from old age and that was the end of it.

Most importantly right now though, was the fact that he couldn't think. His mind was muddled. All he could think about was how angry he was with Dumbledore for having left Harry with Lily's horrid sister and her husband. A couple that James knew for a fact hated him, and he couldn't imagine that they would be any kinder to Harry now than they'd been when he was a baby. The need to protect Harry was burning him from the inside out.

He knew that Remus was the only person he trusted that was available to help him, so he went to his house. It was empty. James gave a frustrated snarl and left just as quickly as he'd arrived. Where the hell could he be?

He walked for a long time. Long enough that the sun set and he was walking in total darkness. Perk of being a vampire was that he could still see. He'd been hoping that he wouldn't need glasses anymore, but he did. He should find sunglasses though, for when the sun came back up. It didn't burn him anymore, but it was awfully bright; he'd spent all day squinting against it.

As it turned out, he hadn't been able to find Remus because Moony had been at Hogwarts, teaching Defense. James had been hanging around Hogsmeade when there was a weekend out for the students, and that's how he saw Harry again. He was a little ashamed to say that he'd scared him. He hadn't meant to, but he'd sort of grabbed him away from his friends, and then he'd seen Snape and his fangs came out and... yeah, it was better not to dwell on it.

All's well that ends well, because Sirius found him that afternoon because of the commotion, and Harry had actually looked happy to see him when he had to head back inside Hogwarts for the night.

"I can't believe you're here," Sirius whispered. He was looking at James like he was a miracle.

James knew the feeling. When he'd learned that Harry had been living with the Dursley's, he'd thought that Sirius was dead. It hadn't taken long before he was in Wizarding London and saw all the Wanted posters, but a part of him had still wondered. After all, if Sirius had been alive, there would've been no reason for him to be in Azkaban, and if he had been in Azkaban, there was no reason for him to have waited so long to bust out.

He didn't understand any of it. He didn't know how things had gotten so bad so quickly. He'd been Turned, and Lily had been killed, but Sirius had been Harry's godfather, and if he hadn't been around for whatever reason, Harry should've gone to Remus! There was a line of people that Harry should've been raised by, and the Dursley's were nowhere in that line.

"What happened?" James asked instead of replying to what Sirius said. "What the hell happened?"

Sirius shook his head. He threw his arms around James and started to cry. James held him while he sobbed, and then for a long time afterwards.

Dumbledore sent him a patronus requesting a meeting, and Sirius transformed into Padfoot and made himself scarce.

James would love nothing more than to meet with Dumbledore and ask just what the hell he had been thinking for the past twelve years, but there was a little snag of he couldn't get through the bloody wards. He sent a reply saying basically that, and a minute later, Dumbledore came out to him.

Before hello's could be exchanged, James said, "How could you send Harry to live with those people?"

"With you gone, Lily and Marlene dead, and Sirius in prison, they were the only legal option," Dumbledore replied calmly.

"What about Remus?"

"Werewolves can't raise children alone, and Remus was not married."

"That's bullshit." And it must've been made into a law after him and Lily went into hiding, because it sure as hell hadn't been one when they set everything up.

"Personal feelings aside, it is the law." Dumbledore hesitated, then said, "Vampires are also unable to raise children unless they are married to a non-creature."

James paled, a cold fear sweeping through him. "What? But- Harry's my son. No one could keep him from me."

They continued talking, and Dumbledore explained the law and when it had been passed. There was all sorts of anti-creature legislation now, and it was throwing a wrench in James's half put together plans. In the course of their conversation, James was able to convince Dumbledore that Sirius was innocent. He didn't even know what Sirius had supposedly done, but he was able to convince Dumbledore of it.

Potter Mansion wasn't in great condition, but it was empty, and both him and Sirius could stay there. When winter break came around, Remus stayed with them as well. He wished that Harry could, but his guardianship was up in the air, and having him stay would be more like kidnapping than him spending the break with his father.

Sirius was in the process of being cleared of all charges, but since it hadn't gone through yet, he didn't have the legal right to raise Harry. Remus and James were creatures, so it's not like they'd be spontaneously allowed to raise him.

"I hate this," James said. He was sipping on blood, and Remus was nursing a cup of tea. Sirius was upstairs, sleeping. He spent a lot of his time sleeping so that he could recover faster, but it was still a slow process. By the time his name was cleared, he probably wouldn't look like a walking skeleton anymore. Skeletal or not, James still thought he was the most beautiful person he'd ever seen.

He did wish that the Ministry would hurry up. They said that it would be at least a year before Sirius would have the restrictions lifted, but it would likely take longer than that. James wasn't sure there was a rhyme or reason to the different rules, and he hated it. For instance, he was able to live on his own if he wanted, but he couldn't be the sole guardian of a child. He could travel around Great Britain, but he wasn't supposed to fly or use a portkey. One toe out of line, and Sirius could be arrested until the verdict was reached.

"Being a vampire?" Remus guessed.

"No. This whole custody mess with Harry. I can't raise him unless I get married, but who the hell am I supposed to marry? If I had a friend who was willing, it would be easy, but everyone I knew is dead. Which means I have to find some bird and convince her to marry me even though I don't love her."

Remus looked at him for a long moment.

Misinterpreting what the look meant, James said, "See? It sucks. There's no way I'm going to pull it off. Harry's going to get sent back to that sodding house where they hate him."

"James, some things have changed since you were last here."

"Don't even try to tell me that they don't hate magic, because Harry told me, and-"

"No, not that," Remus said with a small smile. "I meant that two men can get married now. It's legal."

James jerked, sitting up straight and looking at Remus with an intense focus that he hadn't been able to manage before he was a vampire. "Say again?"

"Two men can get married." You and Sirius can get married.

"You’re a genius. Is Sirius allowed to get married right now?"

Remus nodded. "I checked. I thought it was weird that you didn't already do it, but." He shrugged, and James understood. He hadn't known that he could marry another man, and Remus had thought there was a legal boundary that he hadn't been aware of, so he'd checked for them.

"Huh." James looked down into his glass of blood like it had the answers he was looking for. "How should I propose? I want it to be great. Something he can look back on and know how much I love him."

"I'm not great at romance," Remus said, scratching at his ear uncomfortably. "So erm, all I'm going to say that Sirius always knows how much you love him."

It was a nice idea, but Remus didn't know how insecure Sirius could be. It had only gotten worse since all their time apart. James understood, and he didn't begrudge Sirius for it for a second, but he also wasn't going to talk to Remus about it. Some things were personal. "Yeah. I'm sure I'll think of something. I just want it to be perfect."

"I'm sure it will be," Remus said, giving him a comforting smile.

"I love you so much," James said softly, brushing Sirius's hair away from his face. Not that it had been in his face very much to begin with.

Sirius smiled. It wasn't wide and overtaking his entire face; it was a small, private thing. Like if there was anyone else in the room, he would still want for James to be the only one to see it.

"I hated having to live without you for so long. I kept wanting to get out. I dreamt about getting home to find you and Harry waiting for me."

"I'm sorry it wasn't like that," Sirius said, regret and sorrow making his voice weak.

"No, that's not what I mean. I mean that thinking about you got me through it. I couldn't see the sun for so long, but when I thought about you, I didn't feel as trapped. You were my warmth. My freedom. There were times that I worried I was putting you on a pedestal. That I'd get out and find that you weren't how I remembered, but you're not. Things have changed, but you're still the person I fell in love with. You're as amazing and perfect as I thought you were when we first started dating. I never want to live without you. I want us to be a family the way we should've been this entire time. You, me, Harry, and Moony in the other room, rolling his eyes at us."

"I want that too. It sounds perfect."

"You think so?"

Sirius gave a small nod.

"I'm glad to hear you say that, because I was thinking... well, Remus told me that we can get married now. It's legal."

Sirius froze, then pushed himself up so he could look James in the eye. "This isn't a joke, right? You can't be joking about this. I need you to mean it."

"I mean it. You're everything I want. I love you. I want us to be together for the rest of our lives. I want to call you my husband. So, will you? Will you marry me?"

Sirius looked like he was about to cry, but they were happy tears this time. He opened his mouth to say something, but his breath hitched and he closed it again. He nodded.

"Yeah?" James said, a grin stealing across his face.

Sirius nodded again, and James pulled him into a tight hug.

"I love you so much." Things might've been shit when he first got here, but everything was falling into place, where it should've been from the start.

Dean and his “things, people and feelings” he’s already “experienced differently”.

So here’s a random 4am thought I had. You know how while in the confessional in 10x16, Dean talks about “things, people, feelings” he wants to “experience differently/for the first time”? That confession is literally incoherent if you take a perfectly heterosexual-non-castiel-point of view. It just is. Let me explain why I think that is, and prepare yourself, this is going to be long. 

Let’s say, for argument’s sake, that we’re supposed to understand that conversation the way the priest understands it, that we’re supposed to see Dean the way the priest sees him: as someone who likes to have flings, who cheats, doesn’t commit, etc... basically the character that was introduced to us in the first few seasons/episodes (somewhat). I’m going to be calling that stance the “priest POV”. 

The issue here, is that this is not in fact “the first few seasons/episodes”, this is season 10, Things have happened since then. People have happened. Feelings. Have. Happened. Wether it be in the form of flashbacks or present day events, we’ve seen character development. So let’s start with romantic ones.

1: The first one that comes to mind is Lisa (and Ben). He had a committed, long term, family oriented, white picket fence relationship. It wasn’t just a “I had no other place to go” kinda deal, because once he was somewhat back on his feet, he could’ve pulled a Dean WInchester and left. Except he didn’t. He could’ve cheated. Except he didn’t. He could’ve not opened up or not gotten vulnerable. Except he did. That should already debunk the “priest POV” but let me add on. 

2: Cassie. Dean was insanely vulnerable with her, he loved her, opened up to her about the one big thing he never tells his one night stands, and incidentally was the one who was rejected this time around. He still has feelings about her when he meets her again. 

3: Robin. His first, real girlfriend. With whom he was also in a committed relationship with, which probably would’ve kept on growing if John hadn’t been the usual assh*le that he is, and Dean had had a chance to go to that dance with her. I like to think of her as beta-version-Lisa, and also as the girl who set him on his blazing trail of leaving women after 1 day or 1 week. His dad was the one to rip him away from her, and we know he wanted his son to be the perfect masc, emotionless, order-following, womanizer. And that is exactly what Dean attempts to become, even though this obviously goes against every fiber of his being (see #4).

4: Amanda. Now you may be thinking “but hey! Dean does cheat on her! and it is a short relationship!”. Sure he does, and sure it is, as I said, ever since Robin, he’s trying to be the womanizer his dad wants him to be. But he still lets himself get quite attached to Amanda, as shown by his disdain of the school right after she dumps him in front of everyone. The only reason he liked or tolerated this school wasn’t just “the hot cheerleaders” or whatever, it was Amanda. He wants to put on this mask of “I don’t care about her, I’m a bad boy, I’m just in it for the sex”, but he’s genuinely hurt by what she tells him about his life and how she judges it, and saddened by the breakup. He lets himself get hurt by her. Bear with me, this is important, because we see it happen again with Cassie and then he never lets it get to that point again, simply because of fear and trauma (I think), for example he’s the one to start the conversation about breaking up with Lisa.

Now. What about the “he was just talking about platonic things and feelings and people” possibility. Spoiler alert, it still doesn’t work. 

1: Jo. Otherwise known in my head as beta-version-Charlie, it’s true that Jo is part of those “early seasons” characters, but that only adds to the inconsistency of the “priest POV”. Dean cared intensely about her, some people think of their relationship as romantic, but I really like the “big brother/father/protective” figure idea. Whatever you believe their relationship was, it was profound, I mean he was positively shattered when she died. Again, deep feelings, longterm feelings. 

2: Benny. Like seriously. Dean spent a year in Purgatory with him, saw him as a brother despite the fact he was a vampire, helped him as much as he could while he was having troubles adapting to life on Earth again, protected him through thick and thin, went against his brother for him, against other hunters, against his core beliefs as a hunter himself, just. for. him. If that doesn’t tick all the boxes of things, feelings, people he wants to experience differently for you, then I truly don’t know what to tell you. And then there’s the whole thing with the ship between them, which I somewhat agree with but it isn’t cannon enough for this. 

3: Garth. Yeah, sure, Dean is condescending towards him at first, but he does care about him a lot, and probably doesn’t understand why and how Garth cares about him so quickly, or offers support voluntarily. Garth is a bit of a role model to him, that scrawny, somewhat cringy, little man is better at life than Dean is, and Dean sees that. He’s bothered by it at first, but learns to respect Garth later on, and care about him. He relies on him as a hunter, and kind of as a friend too and he lets him be the new Bobby (which proves a lot of trust grew here) (also, much later on, Dean makes sure he stays out of hunting so Garth can have a happy family life, he also accepts the fact that he’s a werewolf and that his whole family is too). That Also counts as people experienced differently and for the first time. 

4: Kevin. Or as I like to call him, sort-of-beta-version-Jack. Dean feels responsible for him, he jumps into the role of a father figure more than Sam ever does, as much as Sam cares about Kevin too. He is also completely shattered when he dies, like with Jo (which is a bit of the reason why I see Jo and Dean’s relationship as a Big brother-Little sister relationship, the vibe is similar (but not identical) to Kevin and Dean’s). 

5: Jody. Jody is like the mother he never really had growing up. He is vulnerable around her, opens up, she’s basically family. I’m not going to write in Bobby, because he doesn’t count as “new things”, he was effectively his father. Here, Dean lets Jody become a sort of mother to him even though his memory of his mom isn’t as tarnished as his dad’s is. He lets her step into his mom’s sacred shoes. He lets her take care of him in a way. He lets her enter his life and be here for him. New people, new feelings.

6: Charlie. Charlie is his little sister, no doubt about it. She’s his role model, he loves her deeply, he lets himself care about her and feel insanely protective of her. He lets her be Sam #2. He lets himself become a big brother to a new Jo. To a new human. He lets his nerdy side out around her, he learns from her openness about being gay. He is comfortable around her. He is constantly worried about her. New feelings, new people, new things, first time blah blah blah you know the drill by now.

7: Ash. Yes, yes, I know, another “early on” character. But as I said, it keeps on just proving my point. First of all, I firmly believe Dean had a massive crush on Ash but that’s just my interpretation. He respects Ash and looks up to him, he wants to be a bit like him, confident, comfortable in his own life and skin, happy, and he lives in a friggin’ bar for godsakes. He is the epitome of what Dean wants to be at that point in time. He wants to be carefree like Ash is. He thinks Ash is highly intelligent, and has it made. He sees what a happy man can be, one without burdens from “the life”. Ash is a bit like the cooler version of Garth (no offense to Garth of course). Does that count as a role model? I don’t know. But it sure as hell shaped Dean’s hope for what his life could one day be. And Dean cares about Ash deeply as well, he was devastated when he died (he was devastated about the whole Roadhouse burning of course, but it’s clear Ash’s death shakes him quite a bit) and is genuinely happy when he gets to see him again in Heaven, when he sees Ash content and at peace, and the fact that Ash tells him he’ll see him again one day makes him smile (btw thats something I would’ve wanted to see in the finale, but nooooo they simply had to give us a train wreck instead). 

So now that we’ve established those relationships he’s already had before (and I use the term relationship broadly here, it also includes all his friends), I’d like to point something out. There are of course other people he met along the way, other people he saved who inspired him, like the gay couple LARPing as him and Sam, Ellen (beta-version-Jody), in a way Tessa, Layla Rourke, Eileen, to name a few. But I feel as though the ones I cited were the main ones that truly show how shallow the “priest POV” interpretation is.

So where exactly does all this leave us? Well, friends, exactly where I intended it to be. That scene can’t be about potential women being longterm or serious romantic partners because that’s already happened. It can’t be about friends or monsters, because that’s already happened. Canonically. Several times, in several different flavors. 

TL;DR: There is no way this confession scene is heterosexual, and it’s probably about Cas, but not just him, it’s also simply about Dean himself and his comfy closet getting not so comfortable anymore.
