you want a new kind of guy, fine, i raise you: the lady i was briefly roommates with in college who once smoked a blunt at a party and then spent an hour confessing earnestly to me that she genuinely preferred reading detailed episode recaps over actually watching the tv show in question

Vegetal earthy sweetness like squash or beet but also reminds me of the taste when u lick a bloody scab. The tobacco leaf really stands out too. Theres an industrial-ness to it but in a way that feels really fleshy. …..or Rusty …..? Reminds me of brown crackly leather and forest green and that feeling you get when someone else’s saliva is in your mouth. Very unisex maybe leaning more masculine

If you’d told me a year and a half ago I’d have a shop that wasn’t dragon-centered, I’d have handed you a fishing rod and told you to reevaluate things.
🌊Anyways, the Etsy shop is open!🌊

went to a fragrance store and while i didn't find a candidate for the (heavily debated) green phil fragrance, i did get to smell dan's gucci fragrance.
my first impression was that it's actually quite incense forward? spicy but in a very unique and complex way. like a lot more complex than i figure is reasonable for daily wear is what i was thinking (leave it to dan to be needlessly complicated lmao)
on later review it's tobacco and cypress which ends up reading as menthol-y in a way? which is fun and the tobacco explains what i was reading as incense. there's also a particular like? i believe white floral quality (violet iirc) that compliments the other scents well, even if im not personally overly fond of it.
im also getting a little bit of like citrus and powdery-ness? im not getting much from the base notes (leather, amber) but i blame that on the fact that im smelling it on a card lol
my overall impression is that it smells kinda dry. like. how there are some scents that smell like the ocean or they smell juicy or whatever. this is the opposite of that. this smells dusty. this smells dark academia. this smells like saltburn. this smells like your rich old grandpa who smokes a pipe in his study ykwim.
i should probably stop before this turns full buzzfeed what your fragrance says about you but anyway yeah
gucci by gucci: 6/10. not a daily wear for me, personally but it's a fascinating and incredibly nuanced piece.

Happy 1 year anniversary of me discovering Sleep Token and listening to The Summoning for the 1st time 🥹
Tumblr media
Shout out to that annoying ass-dude that kept appearing on my Instagram's fy page with That Part of The Summoning for months prior. If it weren't for your slightly-pretentious, male-targeted videos about ceiling mirrors and waterproof blankets and whatever else, I would've never listened to them 🙏
I kept a little journal while going through their discography, and from June to September I did a track by track first impressions review of every album/ep lol.
Here some of my favourite entries from the first week of TMBTE listening / ST tumblr engagement 🥺
Tumblr media
"[...] They are so babygirl. I've made some friends on tumblr simply because of them, how cool is that? What a [lovely community.]" (continued on second page)
Tumblr media
"[...] BRO. I'm struggling over here. That video lives in my head rent free. Brain rot. Head empty, only Sleep Token thoughts. [...]" (will give you a smooch if you guess the video)
Tumblr media
"4 - Aqua Regia: JAZZ PIANO SO SEXY AND FOR WHAT. *That* chord progression?? WIG. Frothing (hehe)"
And at last, my favourite:
Tumblr media
"I get it, his teeth are very sexy"
(this was about Vore)

so i read through cleopatra and frankenstein. its just. it feels like what someone who never saw new york would write new york as.
everyone in the book was so so beautiful and so so alcoholic. you mean to tell me that the beer bellies never caught up with anyone? the puffing up of your face? when your eyes sink in far in your skull?
also just. cleo is described as the prettiest woman in the world for like the umpteenth time when she's just. white. thats it. everyone in the book is rich and insufferable and oh so beautiful and do coke because they are also *complex* and *struggling* like man do americans really live like this?
unfortunately i did like the writing. and i was curious how the conflict would wrap up, so i did speed through the entire book. but now i wish i hadnt and had instead taken a nap

okay but real talk tho someone does need to create a proper lore timeline for the islanders (and the fandom) because our primary problem in theory crafting is that lore comes so quickly and from so many different povs that the longer time passes, the harder it is to remember the past details and you end up using only newer clues to theorise.
now, that isn't inherently bad, sometimes you do need to discount older information that might've been retconned, but i genuinely don't think this is the case for most qsmp lore -- the admins seem to be adept at taking little things and adjusting them into canon, and keeping track of details.
ultimately, it's something i've seen as a growing issue with theories, though, because i know i'm very lucky to understand english, portuguese, and spanish perfectly (and being anal retentive about lore) which means that for the majority of the big lore drops and a lot of the smaller ones, i've been able to keep track and keep in mind everything -- not everyone can do that.
i may just work on a huge master post of lore in the future, but man it would be easier if the admins compiled it all for us bc it's a lot.

Movie recommendations for the unhinged girl
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The love witch
The Love Witch is a movie written and directed by Anna Biller about a beautiful young witch Elaine in her lavishly decorated new apartment in a new town where she hopes to find the man of her dreams using her spells and potions but they work just a bit too well. Her desperation and unfiltered passion lead her to murder and being completely unhinged. The beauty in this movie is the set design and costuming the film perfectly encaptures the style of a 70s psycho-sexual exploitation film. I think this movie is the perfect watch if you love and appreciate how a film production can elevate it and if you support both women's rights and wrongs.

Wetlands
Wetland is a German movie based on a book by Charlotte Roche and directed by David Wnendt it follows an extremely nonconformist teenage girl Helen who has a strained relationship with her parents. She spends most of her time with her best friend with whom they break social taboos after social taboos. She uses her sexuality as a form of rebellion and to break common social expectations of women. After an intimate shaving accident, Helen lands herself in hospital where she meets a male nurse Robin who will sweep her off her feet. This movie is honestly disgusting at times and will make you winch but it is accelerating to see a female character being disgusting almost existing completely outside the male gaze.

Daisies
Daisies is a Czech film directed by Vera Chytilova about two teenage girls both named Marie who decided that since the world is spoiled they would be spoiled as well. They embark on a series of elaborating pranks to disrupt the supposed peace of the world around them. This movie is wild, experimental and a joy to the history of feminist cinema that was actually banned by its government on its release. If you feel like watching two girls do whatever whenever please watch Daisies

The worst person in the world
The Worst Person in the World is a Norwegian film directed by Joachim Trier. It chronicles four years in the life of Julie, a young woman navigating the adversities of adulthood when you don’t know what you want to do with your life, leading her to take a realistic look at who she is. This movie is a lot more subdued than the other recommendations but I still think it's a perfect movie for an unhinged girl. It explores the feelings of being lost and self-destructive in a relatively simple but unique way.
