the bottles seem to keep falling empty out of her hands and rolling onto the rotted wood of her bedroom floor, clanking into each other as vi downs them one by one. it’s been two weeks, fourteen goddamn days since she saw your tear-stained face, cursing at her, “i never want to see you again!” as you left her standing there in the cold, dark street. fourteen days.

in these days, vi has been nothing but drunk and bloody. she upped her fights to three matches a night, four if she’s high enough. her body aches from the amount of trauma it’s been through; a few broken ribs, knuckles bloody and raw almost to the bone, her left eye greenish-blue and slightly swollen.

nothing really hurts though, as long as she keeps putting the bottle to her lips—

“vi?” your voice called out, low and soft in her darkened bedroom. the light from the moon shined onto the floorboards and clutter. vi sat, knees bent and hands resting on them, back against the few cushions she called a “bed.” she didn’t really remember how she ended up on the floor, but she also didn’t even know what day or time it was, either.

she blinked a few times, seeing an outline of a body in the doorway.

she had to be hallucinating. it was the alcohol, it was… no way in hell you would show up here, how did you even get in? how did you find her? how in the fucking world did you-

“violet, what did you do…” your face came into the light, your eyes bore right into vi’s. she tightly shut hers and shook her head, trying to get you out of her mind.

warm hands cupped her face. you knelt down to be face level with her, your thumbs caressed her makeup-stained cheeks. “vi?” that little crease in between your eyebrows that vi loved so much was prominent as you worriedly surveyed the wounds and injuries all over her body.

“are you real?” vi’s voice was coarse, it didn’t even really sound like her. it was like she was talking through water, outside of her body.

you felt tears welling up in your eyes as you heard the broken woman sitting slumped in front of you. “yes, yes i’m real.. i’m here.”

vi’s opal eyes looked into yours, a certain yearn and heartbreak in them.

“i’m so sorry..” she slurred her words, “i fucked up so bad, y/n. you were the best thing that ever happened to me, and i destroyed it just like everything else.” her head hung low on her shoulders as she looked to the floor, hiding her face in her blackened-pink hair. “you loved me in a way no one ever had, saw through all my bullshit. you-you even fucking showed up right here, right now, after all of the shit i yelled at you.. all the things i did….” a sob racked through her body. she was tipping over, the weight on her shoulders becoming too much, and you found yourself catching her with your body. vi clung onto you, wrapping her strong bandaged arms around your lower waist as she buried her head into your stomach. you stayed on your knees, making you just a little taller than her.

vi broke in your arms. she (tried) to hold it in these past couple weeks, not allowed herself to think too much or be alone for too long. of fucking course, as soon as you come in, all of it comes back to her. (it doesn’t help that’s she’s incredibly drunk or how tired she is, either)

“you came back, why did you come back?” vi’s voice was shaking as the inky tears stained your shirt, causing your heart to break even more for the girl in your arms.

“loris came to me, told me you were.. you weren’t well. you’re doing three fights a night, vi? why the hell would you do that, huh?” your fingers gently caressed her head, holding her broken body to your chest.

when vi didn’t answer, you carefully lifted her head. her eyes were closed, eyebrows furrowed.

had she fallen asleep in her drunken state?

“violet, baby, wake up” you stroked her cheeks, but she was out like a light.

you helped her get into her bed, took off her shoes and carefully wiped off her makeup with a wet wash cloth from her dirty sink. she didn’t stir once, not until you got up from her to leave. her hand softly grabbed onto your forearm, and she slurred something that sounded like “stay with me” but you weren’t completely sure.

SPOILERS FOR ACT 2!!

Its been months since you've seen Cait, or Vi. You don't even know if you three two are still together, Lately you've heard rumors about another 'Hound of the Underground' taking on the pit fighting scene with rigor. The description almost sounds like Vi, but black hair? She was always proud of her reddish pink hair.

You walk into the arena and pay the fee to get the red ticket, you notice her friend loris in the crowd and make your way over to him. After one quick conversation later and you find out what happened and that she came her to 'outrun her demons', your anger for Caitlyn boiling over but quickly simmering down once you see your girlfriend "Holy shit....." you say, admiring her appearance, her muscles somehow got bigger, and the black suited her, but you like the pink more.

Standing there she doesn't notice you at first, focus on punching this guy's jaw again, but then she hears your familiar shouting from the sidelines, at first she thought she was hallucinating you again, but then she realizes its actually you and decides to put on a show just for you.

After her match you meet her again, hugging her softly before asking her what happened with Caitlyn even though Loris told you, you had to hear it from her "I don't wanna talk about it Sunshine, what she did made me question everything--made me question if what me and her had was even real or if she was just using me for information and my strength" oh your poor girl. You push her head into the crook of your neck "lets rest yeah? is that okay?" you don't wanna push the subject anymore, knowing that she' gonna tell you about it eventually. She cuddles into you, dropping her fists to hold you close "mph- yeah that's great Sunshine" she gives you soft kisses on your neck, missing the feeling of your skin on hers "G'night Y/n" she mumbles defeatedly "Goodnight" you kiss her forehead and rub the back of her undercut.

Before you surrender yourself to sleep you look around her small room, looking at all the discarded bottles and broken pieces of glass, noticing the beat up punching bag that has her black makeup on it, right where her eyes are 'my poor violet' you think 'what happened to us' your mind drifts to yours and hers room in your little apartment in Piltover, the nights and days you three would spend together, laughing and having fun before they had to leave.

The next morning you both wakeup with a start, she sits up slightly to see the source of the noise only to see her.. sister? After their argument, she told the two of you Vander was somehow alive and that he needed help.

"I have to do this y/n" she says while grabbing her gauntlets "Please let me come Vi--please" you beg, not wanting to be alone again, she places her hands on your waist, leaning in for a deep kiss coming back up for air she says "I promise I'll come back, I promise you y/n, go stay with Loris for a bit and I promise you that I'll come back" she hopes that you understand, even though her sister is a crazy she it had to be serious if she wasn't trying to kill her.

After your tearful reunion with the man, Jinx leads your little group to the outskirts of the fissures, Vi taking the time to catch you up with what happened, how she feels like her love for Cait was one sided all this time after her betrayal. Attempting to comfort her you try to reassure her that what she thinks isn't true, how she's too focused on grief and how she hit you too-- "What..?" Vi stops walking "She hit.. you too?" her anger is picking up, you can tell "umm. yeah..bu--" "No buts y/n what the fuck?? you didn't even do anything" she cuts you off obviously pissed at your guys' ex girlfriend, you sigh not wanting to talk about it "Vi can we just talk about it later" "No! this isn't oka--" she interrupts you again, then getting cut off by Jinx "We're here!!". The both of you look ahead at this weirdly pastel oasis civilization.

"we will talk about this later" she says with a huff after surrendering her gauntlets. You kiss her cheek to calm her down "Alright" you missed that little flash of red that appeared on her face whenever you did that, you miss the little flash of pink that appeared on Cait' face but you probably aren't gonna see her anytime soon.. you think

His bone crunched beneath your fist, a sickening blow to the center of his nose. You weren't to blame for the fight, it was fully the boy you were beating up who was at fault.

"Ugh, you...bitch!" He growled, wiping blood that was leaking from his nose. You narrowed your eyes dangerously, powers flickering to life. You shouldn't have let his stupid comments get to you, it doesn't matter that Bakugo hasn't noticed you. But the way he acted like he was somehow superior to you just because he was in 2a made you feel infuriated.

You were honestly very fired up at this point, you wanted to smash this dude's face into the ground. For now, you grabbed his collar and gave him a right hook. He was honestly pretty lame, he didn't even block the punch.

"What is going on in here?" A voice boomed, making your back straighten and the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. The boy had a similar reaction, while also taking this chance to worm his way out of your iron grip.

Rigidly you turned around, plastering a big smile on as you looked at All Might. He was frowning at you, eyebrows furrowed with frustration.

"Fighting other future heroes is not good behavior." He scolded, voice echoing throughout the courtyard. You felt all stares on you, prickling your skin like they were actually touching you. "You two are going to Nezu's office."

Sighing, you followed All Might while sparing a glance to the student who has formed a crowd around you. Your eyes met red, a scowl on the blond boy's face as he stared directly at you.

Bakugo noticed you. Bakugo noticed you.

"Oi! You, what's your name?" Bakugo called, walking rapidly towards you. (In all honestly you couldn't help but feel your heart rush with excitement.)

"I'm [Last Name] why're you asking?" You replied, trying to keep your cool. Emphasis on the trying, after all it isn't everyday your UA role model notices you. He was hovering by you, arms crossed over his chest and his constant constipated expression on his face.

"I saw your fight and I'm glad that dickhead finally got what's been coming his way." Bakugo said with a shrug, "I wanted to know who actually deserves a place in this school."

"So, I'm...not an extra to you? Even though I'm in 1b?" You asked, eyebrow raised slightly. It was strange, bantering with someone you have imagined as a role model. This felt like a fever dream.

"Eh, you're less of an extra. I'll keep an eye on you, [Last Name.] I hope you meet my expectations." Bakugo said, before marching away once again. Holy...fucking..shit.

You watched him walk away, eyes wide and jaw slightly dropped. Surely this was fiction, surely a hallucination caused by head trauma. You pinched your arm to check, and sure enough this was real.

You hoped to meet his expectations too.

summary: you're invited to your best friend's party but she's married to Edoardo Bendinelli, which wouldn't be a problem, unless he wasn't your ex's, Fernando, best friend.

You were procrastinating in bed when you got the memo.

Lorena invites you to her 40th birthday party! was written in golden letters in a digital invitation.

Lori was your best friend, but she was also Edoardo's wife, which wouldn't be a problem, unless he wasn't your ex's, Fernando Alonso, best friend.

You and Fernando had broken up a few months ago, things had been tough for him at Aston Martin and he ended up things saying he couldn't go on with this. Whatever the hell that was supposed to mean.

You thought about not going, making up excuses and rotting in bed for the entire weekend, but it was Lori, and there was nothing she wouldn't do for you. Trying not to overthink things too much, you accept the invitation, and that's how you find yourself at their house in Tuscany, the one with a few bungalows and climbing vines.

Needless to say, Lorena was a party animal, so it wasn't a surprise to you when she told you the party would last a whole weekend. You sighed, that meant more days having to look Fernando in the face, and honestly, you weren't ready for that, but you were also looking forward to spending time with her after so long.

Gladly, he first night was a success. The gathering had taken place outside, where they hung up fairy lights on the trees and put on a few wooden tables around the yard. Lorena called it a "Cocktail Welcoming Party".

She and Edoardo had managed to keep you and Fernando away from each other's paths and you relaxed, even if for a bit. But sometimes, when Lorena was distracted, you would look his way, and you'd find himself already staring at you, cigar between his fingers as he sipped on his scotch, mountain range stretching in front of him. You'd look away, bewildered. That happened a few times that night, and although no words were said, the looks he gave you somehow spoke louder than words ever could.

At the end of the night, everyone was drunk, but you were so exhausted you went to bed. That night, you dreamt of a better time with Fernando. That was, of course, until you were woken up in the middle of the night by screams.

"I have to tell her, Edo!" the man seemed desperate, slurring on his words.

"Fer, please. It's 4am. Let her rest, let it go." That was Edoardo, and by the name, you thought the other man had to be Fernando. Your Fernando, the one you were celebrating a win with in your head just a few minutes ago.

You froze, incapable of moving. You were so drunk you swore you were hallucinating, but it was all real. You hear one of them sniffing, and then Edo's voice.

"Come on, Fer. Let's get you to bed."

And just like that, their steps became more inaudible by the second, until the sniffing stopped, leaving you there wondering what had even happened. What was the thing Fernando had to tell you? Why did he sound so desperate? Wasn't he.. fine?

The thoughts kept you awake for another long hour, until you fell asleep over the tear soaked sheets.

The morning came in the blink of an eye, and you decided to keep yourself busy to not think about whatever the hell had taken place outside your bungalow yesterday. Getting up, you get yourself ready and make your way to the house's kitchen, where you find your best friend.

"Morning, party pooper." Lorena says, not looking up from her newspaper as she sipped on a cup of coffee.

"Good morning to you too." You roll your eyes, filling up your teacup with the coffee she had made earlier. "And I'm not a party pooper."

You rest on the marble sink, Lorena in the front of you sitting on a stool in the kitchen island.

"So you didn't went to bed early yesterday?" She looks up, and you see her eyes above the papers.

"Sorry, Lori, the trip killed me. I promise I won't leave your side today."

She rolls her eyes, smiling. "No, you won't."

You laugh and walk around the island, standing behind Lorena to hug her. She retributes and you kiss her cheek.

"Where's Edo? Haven't seen him today."

You sit by her side, resting your teacup on the marble. She sighs, ironically.

"Went to town with Fernando. They couldn't shut up about a surprise for tonight."

The mention of Fernando's name makes every single sound you heard last night come back to you in lightspeed. You close your eyes for a second. Lorena doesn't notice it.

"Right. Speaking of today, what are the plans?"

"Sleepover! Just like the old days." Lorena says, and you're reminded of the sleepovers you used to have when you were younger. Nights spent watching horror movies and eating gummies, easier times.

Although you were terrified of sleeping in the same room as Fernando again after months, you couldn't help but be excited for Lori. You hadn't been close to her like this in ages, and it felt good knowing that even after all this time, you were still best friends.

You set your teacup on the counter, next to the sink, and Lori invites you for a dip. You, her and a few of her other friends spend the day laughing, drinking, tanning and playing water games all day. It was all you needed. Without Fernando nearby, specially after yesterday, you felt like you could wind down, and you managed to spend the afternoon without thinking about him too much.

The night came soon, and everyone said their goodbyes as they went to their bangalows to get ready. You took your time relaxing in the bathtub and doing a face mask, which caused you to arrive fashionably late at the gathering in your David Bowie pajamas, the most presentable one you had.

Fernando was already there, of course. His pajama of choice was an old Ferrari shirt - which he probably found between the pile of things he left at Edo's - and linen pants. He glances at you, and then down.

Edoardo is dressed pretty much the same, except his Ferrari shirt has a different logo on it, which meant it was not from the same year as Fernando's. Lorena is.. well, Lorena. She's gorgeous, and she's glowing in an silk La Perla pajama set Edoardo had gotten for tonight, probably the surprise she had talked about earlier. They were all laughing, eating popcorn and waiting for you to join them to start the movie. You greeted everyone and sat by Lori's side.

The first movie chosen was a horror movie, which, knowing Lori, was no surprise. She was always a big fan of creepy stuff, much to Edo's dismay, he was terrified of it, and you could see him almost having a heart attack next to a smiley Fernando.

You tried not to stare too much, you didn't want to start a fight out of the blue for whatever reason, but you felt on edge, like you were going to burst at anytime. It was too much, too soon, too close..

You get closer to Lori's ear and excuse yourself to go to the kitchen, you needed a break. She nods and you get up, Fernando stares at your back, but you don't notice it.

After a few minutes sitting on the kitchen floor staring at the empty oven, you get up for a glass of water. As the liquid reaches the cup, a voice startles you.

"If I had known you were here, I wouldn't have come."

You sigh.

Great, just what you needed.

You could tell it was him even if he hadn't said a thing, his scent gave it away. You don't notice you're frozen in place until the water overflows, and you quickly turn off the drinking fountain.

"You can still leave, nobody's stopping you."

There's not enough courage to look at him in the eye, yet.

"I won't. I'm here to have fun and I will."

"Then stop complaining." you snap, turning around and finally facing him. Wrong decision.

Standing there, in front of you, illuminated only by the light of the moon and the refrigerator's screen, leaning on the kitchen island with his arms crossed, was Fernando. His hair was ruffled and his cheeks reddish from laughing too much at Edo earlier. He looked beautiful, not that that needed to be stated.

He rolls his eyes, but you can tell he was hurt by your harshness.

"I wasn't complaining, I just.." he stops himself and shifts on his feet. "It's hard not to think about the past looking at you."

"Fernando, please." You roll your eyes in irony, looking down as you itched your forehead.

You turn around and start organizing things that didn't need to be organized in that moment - a habit you developed with anxiety. You can hear his breathing and it's overwhelming. He stares at you, admiring your beauty and yearning over the way you were so close, yet so far.

He couldn't help but think about the past, and you could feel his penetrating gaze on you, a swarm of memories filling your mind.

"Not my fault if you're as beautiful as ever. It's not fair, really."

"You don't have the right to say those things, Fernando."

Your back is still facing him, incapable to look at him. Your eyes wander to the clock above your head, it's three a.m.

He gets up and gets closer, making you freeze. You can feel his presence behind you, he gets closer until his chest is almost touching your back, just close enough that he can feel your perfume. He breathes in, and you get goosebumps.

"Why not? If we were once a couple.." He says, mouth close to your ear.

You take a deep breath and close your eyes. His presence there was too much, his scent intoxicating and the heat of his body everything you wanted to give in to but couldn't.

"Yeah, until you broke up with me."

He closes his eyes, lightly resting his chin over your shoulders.

"I know, I was an idiot. I'm sorry.." you sigh. He had said it a few times before, but this time it felt.. genuine? "I thought you wouldn't be able to keep up with the pace of.. well, everything. I didn't want you to come home to an empty house, to be forced to be alone even when you were in a bad spot just because I was away.. I couldn't do that to you."

"That wasn't your decision to make." you open your eyes, trying to keep your feet on the ground.

"I know, and I see that very clearly now. You're stronger than I am, and maybe that's the problem. I'm the one who was never capable of keeping distance from you."

You feel your heart skip a beat, even more when you feel his big, warm, calloused hands hugging your uncovered belly. His chest was now glued to your back, and you feel the need to grip the marble to steady yourself.

His beard brushes against your skin, making you shiver. You close your eyes again, gripping the marble harder. His voice was so soft and calming it's like he could guide you through any situation. Fernando's embrace was like going home.

You let out a breath you didn't even know you were holding. "But it happened. It happened."

He tightens his grip on your hips, like he was afraid you'd run away.

"I know it did. It hurts me as much as it does you. There's not a single day I haven't regret that."

Your body feels so hot it's like you'll blow up at any minute, but you're incapable of moving. Refusing Fernando's touch after so long seemed like a nightmare you weren't willing to go through.

"Stop it." You shoot your eyes open."You have no idea what I've been through."

He's still glued to you, chest against your back, hands on your belly and hips, gripping it gently, trying to keep you still.

"I know I've been an asshole.." He pauses, leaning his forehead on your shoulder, while his hands caress your skin. "but I want to make things right, even if just for the night."

"You have no idea what I went through the past few months, Fernando." You turn around, finally looking him in the eyes, feeling a tear running down your cheek.

His face drops, and his thumbs meet your face to wipe the tear. "I can go away if that's what you'd like.." He smiles, sadly. "But.. you really think those past few months were easy to me? You're all I think about, Y/N."

You don't respond. Instead, you free yourself from his touch and turn your attention to the clock again, back facing him. 3:27am. Lorena's probably asleep if she hasn't come to check up on you.

Fernando leans against the counter, crossing his arms. He watches you attentively. He's sad and there's no reason to hide it anymore.

"Can I ask you something?"

You sigh and nod.

"I need to know if you too hasn't been able to get over us."

You close your eyes, licking your lips.

"I don't have to answer that." You turn to him.

His eyes are still fixed on you, like they were never anywhere else.

"At least answer this.." He ruffles a hand through his hair. "Do you still love me?"

You close your eyes for a moment, sighing.

"Isn't it obvious, Fernando?" It was, to everyone. Except him.

"I still need to hear you say it." he pushes.

"Yes." you don't think before answering, just blurt it out.

His face lights up in the blink of an eye, and he looks surprised as he tries to get closer to you again.

"That's all I needed to hear." He laughs, sadly. "You have no idea how many nights I woke up, out of the blue, because I had heard your laugh in my dreams." He cracks a smile. "I thought that if I was quiet enough, I could hallucinate it, and that would be enough. A hallucination of you would be enough, because it's still you, you'd be there, in my arms." His voice cracks, you don't want him to cry. "I haven't forgotten you, Y/N."

He sniffs, hugging you tightly, and you do the same, because it's your Fernando. The heat of his body enveloping you like it used to, there it was, your safe place. You rest your chin on his shoulder and his arms hold you like it's the last time they ever will.

He cups your face, his eyes glowing with tears, and pulls you closer, just enough for your foreheads to touch.

"I'm so sorry for everything. I've missed you so much.."

"I've missed you too, Fer." you laugh amidst tears, and his heart skips a beat at the nickname he hadn't heard in so long.

You breathe deeply, letting his scent invade your nostrils and make its way into your heart, from where it should've never left.

There, in Fernando's arms, you felt like you hadn't felt in months.

"Fer?"

"Yes?" he opens his eyes.

"What did you need to tell me yesterday night? You know.. when you were outside my bungalow."

He laughs, embarrassed.

"You heard that.."

You smile. "Yeah.. I did."

He looks at you, taking all of you in. He felt so unbelievably lucky.

"I.."

He gets closer, mouth next to your ear, and whispers "Love you."

You cup his face, laughing as you roll your eyes. He stares, again, like you're the most perfect thing to ever exist, and cups your face, kissing your forehead, your cheeks and, finally, your lips.

And it felt so sweet, so right, like going home after so long and being welcomed by so many good memories. The beginning of yet another chapter of your lives.

"I love you, too."

so, originally it started out as just a visual prop of sorts for the piece, since i really like lorikeets and handle them a lot, theyre lovely little guys with kinda freaky parrot eyes (tbh most parrots have freaky eyes) so i thought itd be a nice subject for an elias focused piece

but the more i thought about the more i got reeaally attached to the idea of the lori actually exsisting and mainly staying in the archives so he kinda turned into what i guess you could consider an oc LMAO.

anyways, this is lucius , lucy for short (yes og!elias named his bird after a stoicist)

my idea was that it was og!elias' pet parrot, i thought itd be a good way to show his eccentricism as wealthy people are sometimes shown owning expensive tropical birds in pop culture (loris are australian but besides that, somewhat expensive bird)

jonah ends up keeping the little guy after overtaking elias' body and grows fond of him, so he becomes a bit of a surveilance bird, not neccessarily needed to get closer look at things, but might as well put him to use -> lucy gets marked by the eye too i guess??

he hangs out in the archives creeping around a lot, but most of the staff just thinks its some weird mass hallucination and when jon brings up the bird hanging out in his office the others just accidentally gaslight him about it saying its just some weird effect of the archives no one knows why

its very affectionate towards jon specifically as hes the archivist, only being more affectionate towards elias himself obvs, he really doesnt like martin tho...

Here’s some ACTUAL criticisms I have for Arcane.

1. I think they should’ve explained the way magic works in this universe. It’s very confusing for Hextech to supposedly be this big important thing when you can just wear runes that have magic infused within them or can see what the Black Rose can do. I personally find magic in stories works best when there are rules we understand. I get that the Wild rune and the concept of the Arcane is meant to be unknowable Eldridge horror kinda stuff, but if your show is called Arcane i would expect there to be more clarification on what the Arcane actually is. Additionally some clarification of what the anomaly/Wild rune was would’ve been more helpful.

2. Jinx’s first on screen psychotic episode is framed confusingly. Upon rewatches it’s very clear that’s not Vi, but I’ve seen far too many people not understand that it was a hallucination and are confused by how Vi ends up in prison. I don’t really know how to fix it, but it’s one of those things that could’ve been made clearer so there was no confusion after the initial fake-out.

3. We should’ve seen more of Skye and Loris. I feel like both characters were severely underutilized. I get they were introduced to be killed off, but if you’re going to fridge them we should get to know them better first. Heck, we didn’t even get Loris’s name until 8 episodes after he was introduced.

4. The structure of certain plot lines in season 2 should’ve been streamlines. And I don’t mean things like getting rid of the Black Rose subplot or something. I’m talking more about when we cut back to plot points. Mel’s is the most egregious because she goes missing in episode 3, doesn’t show up again until episode 5 after a time skip (but not for her?), and then disappears again and doesn’t show up until episode 8. I think restructuring it so that we cut back to her in the prison earlier so we know she’s alive, then cut back to her still in the prison in a later episode, then finish up with her figuring out her magic powers and heading back to Piltover would’ve made things much more coherent. There’s too much space between her scenes and time passes so much between them that it feels like her scenes are out of order or stretched out WAY longer than it should be.

The art, animation, soundtrack...I think we can all agree Arcane created a before and after in the Animation industry and artists all over the world (although I only liked Ashes and Blood, Isha's song and Remember Me. The rest are a bit meh for me)

Jinx realizing she can be a good person when she met Isha. And she almost realized she doesn't have to choose between Powder and Jinx personas, she's both.

Sevika bonding with Jinx, both of them mourning Silco and getting to work together. Jinx making a whole new arm for her, basically.

Vi realizing Jinx has good in her when she saw how Jinx treated Isha.

Ekko stopping Jinx from killing herself five times and being patient with her.

I don't like Timebomb, but the dance scene being at 4 fps representing Ekko's ability to rewind time 4 seconds was on top.

Ekko not even hesitating to find the way back home, choosing to leave this perfect life and timeline behind.

The pianist who went to the war. He wasn't made for this, but he chose to be there.

Loris leaving Vi when she pushed him away. Loris tried to help her, but she refused it, so he had to leave for his own good.

That Jinx's follower who first touched her shoulder in prison, dying just like that during the attack. I liked how they showed people were dying without it being spectacular, they're just gone.

Vi trusting in Jinx when Vander/Warwick found them in the mines and was berserk. Vi chose to hug him instead of fighting, as she has always done with every conflict.

Jinx's first action when she found out Vander is alive being to look for her sister and find him together, not wanting to commit the same mistake.

Jinx being unable to shoot Vi when she had the opportunity to do so, in Act I.

Sevika ignoring the original plan and protecting both Jinx and Isha.

The Jinx vs Vi fight from Act I, they weren't trying, at least not as hard as Sevika and Cait. Vi had Jinx at her mercy a few times but didn't kill her, and in the second half of the fight, Jinx basically only slaps her face.

Jinx and Vi's interaction in Act II. It felt refreshing, seeing them 'fight' in a much lighter tone.

Jayce telling Viktor there's beauty in imperfections, that he admired him. It contrasts with Viktor's desire to make everything perfect (but including Viktor's terminal disease was weird).

Viktor and Jayce meeting in every timeline, Jayce being Viktor's salvation.

Viktor saying that trying to heal Warwick was a risk worth taking.

Isha seeing Jinx beyond the Powder/Jinx dichotomy and being the one to bring that happy nature from her (I loved Jinx acting as commentator just to make it fun for Isha).

Jinx being OFFENDED because an enforcer insulted her pants.

Jinx using her new mechanical finger (with a face painted on it) to give the middle finger to the enforcer who hit on her.

Sevika knowing how much Isha meant for Jinx, and Sevika not making fun of her when Jinx had another hallucination (after months of not having them). Sevika looked concerned.

Jinx protecting Caitlyn in Act II (although Cait never did something similar for her).

Mel's story centered on her family and not any romance.

Jinx's skills with her gun and her enhanced abilities thanks to the shimmer. She's so cool with her gun and managed to stay on her feet against Warwick at the beginning.

Jinx writing her name on her cheek just like Vi did (and it's funnier because Jinx did it by following the image in the mirror).

The voice acting. Especially Ella Purnell (Jinx's voice actress). They're all perfect for the roles, and Ella's raspy voice is the cherry on top.

Powder in the other timeline still having the hallucinations but showing she became Jinx because of her environment. She's much healthier and se's a genius in both timelines, it's her environment which decides if she'll use it to create weapons or to have a fun science competition.

In Act II, when Jinx and Sevika go to save Isha and the others, when the Enforcer they want to use to get arrested and taken to Stillwater: I liked how she relaxed once she saw Jinx, not firing at her immediately and even...Having a normal conversation with her

The designs. They made Vi SO MUCH BETTER. And I absolutely love Jinx's design as well, they're so perfect

When they were fighting in the mines and Jinx slaps Vi's cheek, the cave glows. And then they start fighting pathetically on the floor like actual sisters and the cave glows at the rhythm of their hits xd

lotsss of rambling here but in the same vein as this post I think there are a lot of elements in s2 that are facing the same issue with audience perception, especially surrounding vi. arcane is not a melodrama that is meant to spend episodes and episodes dwelling on any one character’s feelings or trauma and trying to heal it all while the larger plot is hurtling towards war. It’s not realistic to expect this show to spend 3 episodes dealing with vi’s feelings during her pitfighter stint and learning that she has value outside of being a protector through a relationship with someone like loris. she pushes him away because she’s not in a place to accept that kind of relationship, and a stranger isn’t going to be able to heal or help her in this state. she was never going to learn anything while she was “passed out at the bottom of a mug” because that isn’t a productive or enlightening place to be. the show establishes where she is, shows us how far she’s spiraled, and then it takes her out of that situation and places her in one where she has the opportunity to discover something that will change that. I keep seeing people say that vi needs to realize that she’s worth more than what she can provide for others, and they’re right — but she was never going to learn that from a stranger, because what she needs is to heal the relationships with the loved ones she already has. the show addresses this when vi asks jinx why she came to get her even though she didn’t really need her help. vi’s perspective and position begin to change as soon as she joins jinx and isha because her relationship with them is the catalyst for the realizations her character needs to have. by contrast ,the imagined scenarios where vi gets taken care of by a stranger are not what she needs, in large part because she as a character would never allow that, which is the point of showing her pushing loris away. he’s trying to help her, but she’s not in a place to be helped by him. what does help her is hearing that jinx came after her despite believing that she didn’t truly need her help. what helps her is being in a position where she does ultimately get to help protect jinx and isha despite that, because it reminds her who she is (hello loss of identity arc) and because it makes her realize that she DOES love jinx and she IS still her sister in spite of everything that has happened. what helps her is being in a position where she has a chance at a do over, being in a position where she gets to choose to trust jinx enough to lower her fists and take a chance on the monster who turns out to be her father. being in a position where she gets her family back. THAT'S the healing vi needs.

something something about how vi is angry enough to punch a hallucination of caitlyn in ep 5, but by the time she actually sees her again in ep 6, all that anger is gone. why? what changed? the answer is everything. during her time as a pitfighter vi has nothing. of course she’s lingering on the loss of the last thing she had to hold on to. but between then and when she actually does see caitlyn again, she’s gone from having nothing to having everything. she has her family back. she has a sense of peace we haven’t seen her have maybe ever before. what happened with caitlyn went from being the center of her world to being nearly inconsequential. that doesn’t mean that caitlyn shouldn’t be held accountable or make amends. she should and I think she will. but it’s also understandable that vi is no longer holding on to those volatile feelings in that moment. because what matters is saving vander and her family and that’s what she’s focused on.

meanwhile jinx gets the focus and development she gets because she’s the character that needs it. she’s the character who is occupying a position that is not sustainable, who still needs to make peace with who she is and the role she wants to have. vi doesn’t get that same kind of development because she doesn’t need it. yes, she doesn’t change much and that’s because she’s the constant, the control in a cast of characters who are pushed to change beyond recognition. but what does change for vi is that by the end of arc 2, she's positioned once more as the hero. and she is a hero. arc 1 has vi in a very passive role for the first time. she's always been a character who makes decisions that push the narrative forward for better or worse, but in arc 1 she doesn't actually make a single decision that truly impacts the story until she stops cait from shooting at jinx and isha. she's vulnerable and scared and sad and she lets herself be led around by cait because she's lost. in arc 2 that isn't the case anymore. she's back to making decisions and she's back to doing what she thinks is right. she defends jinx and isha, she seeks help for vander, she wants to stay and help the commune with jinx, to help heal people from the devastation that's been caused. she bests ambessa because she's able to set her anger aside and collaborate with caitlyn. once again she picks herself up and she keeps trying. of all the characters in the show, vi has done the best job of holding onto her "good heart" despite everything she has endured, which is more than most. there's a reason both vander and caitlyn point this out when no other character is ever assessed in such a way. it doesn't mean that vi never makes mistakes. she does. but she never loses sight of the fact that she's trying to do the right thing while others are consumed by hate or vengeance or fear or confusion. vi is the strongest character in the show; even ambessa points out her resilience. no, i don't mean physically. the fact that vi continues to get up, continues to do what she thinks is right, and is able to let go and forgive after everything she's been through — that's real strength.

one thing I will say is that this show is wholly unpredictable, and I think that's part of the audience response. but the arc is there. the development is there. it may not be the arc the audience was expecting, but honestly? I think it's better.

Just dumping my Ina Paha thoughts here. 🙃

First of all I did NOT know it was the 100th episode going into this, so i was very confused watching the montage at the end lol

I also had to click out and make sure I didn't click the wrong episode when the Pilot started playing at the beginning. When I heard Danny's voice on the phone instead of Hesse's I swear I got whiplash

It's filmed so well (bar where they reshot the pilot where Steve gets Danny on the phone instead of a dead dad, in which they literally forgot to put the same filter over the scene to make the stitching coherent) and I absolutely love the camera work they did with the white-room and the video projections. It felt very much a level above normal network television cinematography, especially the parts where Steve's going in and out of the hallucinations.

Steve finally FINALLY killing Wo-Fat was so cathartic, it should have happened ages ago but I'm willing to look past all the dumb ways he survived just to allow this incredible ending to his story.

yes, it was a Steve episode. but Danny REALLY shone, first as the only resident Actual Detective figuring out what happened to Steve by the tire-tracks, rampaging through the compound steadily and efficiently and knocking people off without a pause, and then in Steve's mind shooting Hesse's kneecaps off?!?!?! That was CRAZY and probably not suppose to be as hot as it was and definitely made me want an ex-mobster AU immediately. Basically I have a competency kink and really like badass!danny shit 😊

Seeing Chin's long hair again made me swoon

My jaw dropped when I saw Jenna! I think it's really interesting that Steve still thinks of her so much, and I was surprised that she showed up in both the actual dreams and the montage. I definitely underestimated how much she impacted Steve's life, it seems, and I hate that we'll never hear him address that and we'll only know about it inadvertently like this.

Even with so many other close calls in between then and now? Good fucking lord ok then loverboy that's WILD. Canon accepted ig this show is just pure whump.

Danny goes through all of this just days after losing his brother and killing Reyes. JFC can we please address that. I need a 30k introspection fic to let me into this man's mind rn.

The Wo Fat v.s. Steve fight at the end was INCREDIBLE. I would love to give the choreographer's hand a shake, it's some of the best work I've seen on television in a long time. It was impressive for a procedural like this. It was long and physical and you truly didn't know what the outcome was going to be; it everything that their built-up relationship deserved for a conclusion. It also happening with a Steve coming off of hours of torture and drugging was crazy (guess we finally know who would win a PVP if they were both at full strength!). That being said I was really impressed with Wo Fat's capabilities and physical prowess, I was not expecting it to be so even and close to the line. I actually jumped when Steve LIFTED him up into the lighting fixture. We do not talk about Steve's (Alex's???) raw upper-body strength enough.

Anyway. Electricity in the water play. The physicality hell that this gif below is ⬇. Fire extinguishers and loaded needles. Crazy martial arts. Chair and buckets (holy shit did y'all see the force with which Wo Fat SHOT that bucket?????) flying. All's fair. I loved it.

The shot going right through the forehead, clean. I don't know how to put into words why that's so monumental to me but it is.

The mystery bad lady was SO intriguing, I wish we got more from her... How does she know Wo Fat? Why was she entrusted with all that information on him and Steve and especially Doris? Absolutely where did she come from, what was her name? Why did I have a huge huge hot crush on her? All important questions. (Goes to show that h50 CAN give us some more genuine badass, not just there to date someone women characters, just explicitly choose not to. I'm holding out for Ellie to remain platonic so hard right now.)

Almost forgot Danny in that black Hawaiian shirt. Will be whimpering over that image forever. The whole episode I was trying to focus on the underlining betrayal mystery they were laying out but every time my brain started working too hard Scott with his stupid waist and those flower patterns just started flashing into my head

To be honest, I haven't seen the original show in a while but if I remember correctly Aaron was a great friend to both Rick and Michonne! Aaron supported Rick throughout his choice not to fight against the saviors while most people were really against it. Rick even opened up to him about how Michonne disagreed with his choice, which is a big thing for Rick to do imo. And also Aaron supported Michonne when everyone was against her for not letting new people into Alexandria! Again my memory may be wrong but I think he was the only one to defend Michonne at that meeting about the Kingdom and their fair? He said something along the lines of "We put Michonne in charge of security for a reason. Her judgement has saved us time and time again."

Michonne has had many friends but sadly they all died. Btw, I don't include Andrea has a great friend. She chose a warm bed over a friend. Some of her great friends would include Carl, Siddiq, Nat, Bailey and Aiden! I think her and Rosita also had a good friendship but we never really got enough focus on it, sadly. Carl and Nat were definitely her BESTEST friends though. They were always very protective and supportive of her and its heartbreaking she lost that.

Anyway this is why I'm so glad Rick and Michonne have each other again. I can't help but think about how when Rick was having Lori hallucinations literally everyone thought he was crazy. Remember the one person who didn't? Michonne. She told him it was normal and even tried comforting him by telling him she went through something similar with talking to her dead boyfriend. And I think it worked because Rick made a little joke about it with her right after. And when Michonne was out looking for Rick everyday and believing he was still alive and needing her, everyone thought she was crazy. Everyone thought she was crazy for not letting new people into Alexandria or wanting to help the kingdom with their fair. But personally I think if Rick was there, he would have done the same. He would have done whatever it takes to keep his children safe and alive, even if it meant closing out the rest of the world to Alexandria. He would have supported Michonne every step of the way and absolutely no one would have talked down on her leadership had he been around. Rick trusts her judgement and guidance wholeheartedly. And he also understands wanting to protect his children more than anything. I really love that quote about them loving each other because they both understand each other's craziness. It's just part of their beauty.

I have returned to rant at/with you! Brett talbot. Believe it or not I don’t hate Brett I think he’s actually an interesting character and I would have liked to see him and Liam eventually become good friends. BUT I don’t care how fangirly some of the fandom are because of his abs and the love he has for his sister, he’s a gradeA asshole who did a disgusting thing for a dumb reason.

I hate some fanfics where Brett lives and still treats Liam horrible. Especially because they like to make Theo and Brett bffs, like I’m sorry this man smashed a man’s head to a mirror and snapped a ghost riders head for threatening Liam and you expect me to think Theo would be friends to someone with that same history who STILL treats Liam like dirt. HONESTLY WE SHOULD THANK JEFF THAT HE KILLED BRETT BECAUSE IF THEO IN CANON WOULD HAVE EVER MET BRETT AFTER LEARNING WHAT HE DID TO LIAM THEY WOULD NEVER HAVE FOUND THE BODY!!!

The fact that Liam could even attempt to make peace with him in season 5&6b makes him a fricken saint, because while being teased sucks it’s another thing to be physically assaulted by someone twice your size and strength. And Liam still helps him and considers him a friend only to still be treated shitty by Brett, especially because as far as we know Liam never did anything directly to Brett himself only the schools coach. Like I’m sorry that you are on a thin scholarship that is for both you and your sister but that doesn’t excuse you from attacking a 15 year old boy cause he doesn’t match YOUR standards on YOUR team. Because that’s what he and his teammates did, they kidnapped and beat Liam as he was still human. While the others don’t know about the supernatural, Brett does, and would be significantly stronger than the others when hurling literal sports balls at a defenceless teenager in a cage. He could have been arrested if Liam pressed charges.

And the people who like to say it was a hallucination caused by guilt are ridiculous. Why would Liam hallucinate something so specific if he was feeling guilty about Brett’s death. If that was the case instead he should have seen Brett dying over and over or Brett telling him- “it’s your fault me and Lori died!” Not “we lost, and it’s your fault!” Like I’m sorry lacrosse is important to Liam but it’s NOT THAT important. Liam very obviously is triggered in an episode called triggers, if the episode was guilt it would have been called something according to that. Like that kid must have some serious PTSD and half of it isn’t even from all the supernatural shit he’s seen, which is heartbreaking and makes me want to hug him so tight that he never feels pain again.

i think bretts and liams friendship fits into the pattern that liam has with all his other friends. except for mason, basically all of his relationships start of extremely rocky. scott and stiles, hayden, corey, theo, nolan... all of these people he didnt particularly like. he fights with them (physically), they put him into dangerous situations/threaten him (scott, theo, nolan) and he has to learn to trust them. brett fits right into that, technically.

the detail that stands out is that brett is literally just a bully. all the other characters i listed, they had reasons for why they treated liam the way they did. like. theo and nolan were both about to kill liam, but that was because of their circumstances. they didnt have something specifically against liam.

brett, on the other hand, is just mean to him? i already talked about that i think the flashback liam has is definitely a real memory and as you said, liam wasnt a werewolf back then and nothing about that scene indicates that liams own behavior was reason for brett to go to such extreme measures. and i understand that brett has reason to be pissed off at liam for what he did to their coach's car, but the way he continously makes fun of liams disorder and is so rude to him, literally up until his death?

like... i love asshole characters (obviously, i love theo) but even theo has his soft moments. theo shows again and again in s6 that he cares about liam. we never see anything like that from brett. he cares about his sister, wow, but thats one line right before they both die. doesnt exactly give them much depth or makes me care about them.

and yeah i agree. im not a fan of people including brett (and sometimes lori) in fics, idk. i get that fanfiction is there to have fun and it doesnt need to make sense in canon. people bring back allison, erica, boyd, etc all the time in fanfiction and thats cool. you do you. but i personally dont understand why people are so obsessed with brett. its not like he was a fascinating character or anything and as someone who prefers canon-compliant fics, making him still be alive erases so much of liams development and even thiams dynamic. if you want more members for the puppy pack, nolan, alec, hayden and gwen are right there.

and god yeah no i dont like this idea of theo and brett being friends at all. i guess you could argue they have slightly similar personalities bc of their abrasive attitude, but thats just not enough to convince me that theyd get along. and yeah, theo has the biggest fucking soft spot for liam. obviously he knows that liam can handle himself, but i dont think that hed be completely unbothered by what brett did.

if you want to give theo new friends other than liam, so many other characters make more sense in my opinion. let him reconnect with scott. let him bond with corey or hayden because they were part of the chimera pack. let him bond with nolan as they were both antagonists in liams life and have to earn his trust. let him bond with alec who we basically know nothing about anyway so its easy to make him into someone that theo could get to know.

or yknow. do whatever you want and bring brett back, i guess.
