I loooove the jp fandom's headcanon that geeta and larry are childhood friends who met during their time in the academy and, sometime in the future, geeta personally recruited larry to work for the paldean pokemon league, as she must be one of the first people who knew of his prowess in pokemon battling! Like yeah, the whole geeta being a "strict boss who is frustrated by larry's stubborn insistence to be an average worker that she has to assign him different workloads just to broaden his horizon" idea is intriguing, but stepping it up a notch by making geeta be the "best friend a.k.a the only one who has seen larry at his very best and his very worst, and knows for a fact that he could excel at anything he put his mind into if he steps out of his comfort zone, so she doesn't particularly drag him out of said zone, but pushes him out of it each time she can because she can't bear to see her best friend be unaware of the good chances and positive things that awaits him out there, not if she has a (small) say in it" is also downright hilarious 😭🤚

i truly can't articulate just how much strong, supportive friendships have changed me from being a very un-chill, suspicious, angry, scared, mistrustful person to someone who is secure, calm, trustful, and very willing to take risks. i want to be that sort of presence in other people's lives too. and the best part about having healthy friendships is that i know that i am a good presence in my friends' lives.
#it's the way we all went from nervous anxious teens just emerging frm their parents' grasps#and absolutely blossomed in each others' company#even through shitty relationships#through abusive relationships#friendships have been so strong#i'm so glad we all matured well??? there's barely any petty drama#like there's drama for sure and bad blood that i have to skirt around#but even through that every party involved in the 842983 strains of drama wants there to be some sort of reconciliation#they want to communicate instead of running away#and i grew up knowing them as some extremely avoidant people!!#also i can say for sure that the drama isn't petty#and there is a great deal of understanding and willingness to bridge gaps frm everyone involved#like we're still nowhere close to any of this drama being resolved#bcs some of these fights have left deep wounds#but i see my friends trying

i start my new job tomorrow... so sad. millie unemployment era over :(
#i'm lying i technically was employed up until like 4 days ago. the job i had just wasn't giving me any fucking shifts#it took them like a week and a half to notice i wasn't coming back. because they didn't schedule me at all for... 2? weeks?#this job pays well AND is something i can tolerate doing... amazing#also i'm moving at the end of the month???? found a 2 bedroom that's cheaper than my current place. my current place is a studio btw.#it's a pretty nice place too. rent generally isn't too bad where i live#it's just my current apartments were bought out by a bigger scumbag company that keeps raising rent to drive out all the old tenants <3#god. death to all landlords. ok?

can HSR and HI3 players please just stop with picking on Genshin players already? we all like Hoyoverse, there is literally no reason to trash on the other games to try and get people to play your favorites. if anything you've only made Genshin players avoid HSR and HI3. you've accomplished nothing.

everyone here was soooo excited because a national channel was going to bring back this iconic tv series, directed specifically to the youth, from our childhood and adolescence that we are so nostalgic about after 11 years for them to disappoint us all with the trailer because it looks like elite 2.0

With little regards to either proper wound care or medical hygiene, Kolisnyk uses the bent and twisted fingers of his injured hand to drive into the soft earth, regaining purchase with the claw-like movement, before pressing the laceration in his palm down into the blackened topsoil. It’s with an irritable hiss that he then pushes down, using the combined momentum of his motions and Calleum’s swift tug to haul himself upwards. A momentary stagger overcomes him as he rediscovers the world on both feet, and Calleum’s hands hasten to balance him by his lower back and bicep, while Kolisnyk tilts and throws the other hand back out for some semblance of balance. He looks rather wretched, Calleum notes, while Kolisnyk continues to be quick as ever, readjusting and canting to the side, stabilizing as he shifts his weight onto the notably less muddied part of his body and the leg that doesn’t look half-beaten in its war against nature, and Calleum soon finds that he isn’t quite mature enough to reign in the soft breath of laughter that wells in his chest and releases with his observations.
From Pulse. This puppy took a little bit, with the brain constantly shifting words around and leaving me very, very confused every time I read it over. Hoping it ended up coherent. Kolisnyk is Riley, and this is the aftermath of what happens when he isn’t paying much attention, falling down an embankment, and he just so happens to do so while Calleum is absently wandering about the forest that surrounds their school somewhere during the low light of dusk, too. Riley then reveals himself to be much like any doctor, with an apprenticeship steadily underway in healing, but still making the rather poor choice of disregarding his own basic health - like slapping down a newly attained laceration in his hand into dirt.
Anyway... how are we liking the new tense? It gives me Hell~ But it’s functioning far better in terms of comprehension for me than past tense used to, and it’s all starting to flow quite nicely during the writing process, too.

I'm not quite sure when references with surnames became a thing but it's working quite well to establishing slow shifts in relations#and giving me an idea of where they are within each other's minds. there's a variant of some sort for everyone it seems#surnames being the most common as they accumulate partners in crimes like pokemon cards#and C). while rewriting the tense and figuring things out I've decided that it fits much better. Present. And I need to reevaluate ages#I had the unfortunate experience of interacting with folks around their canonical ages a month or so ago. It's not bad#but I've also never felt so out of the loop and old as well#I'm also steadily and slowly making Milena older and older to adjust and really need to stop doing that because soon she'll age out#even with the weird kinda school system I've got going on for my magical alien school#oh and bonus D) point -#screw the moving house thing. that's one of the reasons I've delayed stuff. CITV is moving completely online now? Honestly, this shit is getting ridiculous. Like, I thought we were trying to convince kids to spend less time on tablets and phones and stuff and yet the first channels to become streaming only all seem to be children's channels? I get it, terrestrial TV is going out of fashion (awful, but hey ho), but it's so much easier to turn a TV off and get kids doing other things than it is to prise technology out of their hands. If anything, I think they should be the last to go online. I'm honestly so fucking pissed off.

my dude you can't be making my computer crash when I only have like 20 tabs open. that's rookie shit!
anyway my computer crashed right before the interview ended and too much memory was going ... somewhere ... for me to get R running right and they didn't tell me it was going to be a case study project thing that I'd be doing today instead of just a normal interview and AAAAAA.
maybe tomorrow I can just be fucking normal because oh my god. this is too stressful.
also my desk chair is starting to just. randomly. drop down very slowly. which means that at some point sooner than I want to I'll have to get another one. which SUCKS. but FINE. GOD.
#i still feel okay about this.#mostly after talking to my job coach buddy who was like 'wow this is—no joke—an inappropriate process they're putting you through'#so you know what yeah. he's right. i've had three interviews in three days#and this one was a surprise!! code in front of someone!!!#which if you're not familiar is just the most horrifying experience#NO ONE should have to code in public#it's an activity best done in the privacy of your own home with no one else looking at you#and i think he's right—i should definitely make sure that this isn't the norm for this company#to be EXTRA SUPER INTENSE and chaotic with its employees#but i'm also kind of inclined anyway to just take the job and get a year of experience (or whatever) on my resume#and if it sucks hit da bricks#and if it's like this now because they're a bunch of overexcited nerds with no talent acquisition department and otherwise it's fine#great! so much the better!#i hate that academia is so trash that i'm like 'wait this isn't normal' when someone else is like 'yeah it's not supposed to work like that#because this? well it's not as bad as a campus visit that's for sure!!#i only have ONE interview a day instead of back-to-back half-hour meetings with an entire department!!#and now i get to do things like go to the gym!#instead of say 'okay well there's about two hours left until dinner and i have to chat with the grad students'#or whatever#and say 'omg wow $70K as a junior analyst?!' because that's like a decent base salary for an assistant professor#meanwhile everyone in industry is like wtf why are they making you interview so rapidly like this that is not enough money etc etc#anyway. i'm tired. i think i'll go lift heavy things so at least it feels like there's a reason to be sweating my ass off.

Whenever I'm upset about something and I have to like rant about it to myself to come to terms with how it makes me feel, I have a go-to sentence I use to really hone in on it. Like if something is so irritating or nonsensical or generally anger-inducing that I just have to get it out.
Like I have a coworker who's always talking about what would make the laundry better, talking about these multi-million dollar renovations and things that are *never going to happen* and entirely fail to fix the immediate surface-level issues we're experiencing right now, in the moment, that I'm usually trying to fix while he's talking to me. It really does come off as him going "oh you know what would be so much better for efficiency? if cars ran on rainbows and grass clippings and the tears of happy kittens :)" - he means well, but it fixes NOTHING, it's wishful thinking at BEST
And I swear to god, at least once a week - at LEAST
I have to conjure up the mental fortitude to bite my tongue and keep it to myself
but mentally? I'm winding it up like a punch, before I let out the loudest, angriest call of:
"Coworker, what in the everLOVING NAME OF FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!?!?!?!?!?!??????!!!!??"

#the problem is that doing things my way is actually working well; it's just really slow and it's coming from a bad starting point#everything that makes me miserable was even more miserable growing up#you maybe see me and think that I'm doing really horribly; and that may be true; but I'm also truthfully at my peak right now#and frankly as much as I worry about it A LOT; I'm kinda still on the rise in a lot of ways#...I just take way too long to do things; I want to be quicker because a lot of this stuff isn't... it's not being slow and steady#it's being depressed and having trouble working on shit#but... when I do stuff my way the end result tends to be strong#I got a house in 2019 for instance... like in that economy; I feel like that counts as a pretty high roll outcome; you know?#the parts of my life I hate are all... it's like Marley in the Christmas Carol; I've got all these chains around me#and... about 80% of those chains are just my mom or my mom's choices... she blows through so much money all the time#it makes me want to die#but all that shit... it's the past haunting me and drowning me#but shit's better than it was and... I have more friends now that I did in the past; I'm closer to making money than I've been in the past#(part of it is that I kinda want to get shit stabilized in the household; be doing stuff like cooking before I try and sell shit)#(also understand that everyone in high school liked me... we just never saw each other outside of school)#(so it was a situation where I had 'friends'; by that standard everyone at school was a friend)#(but I didn't have a single person I was close with and I was totally isolated in a crowd)#(friend is just a word in english that has to cover a really really wide range of relationships)#(but these days I do have actual friends... just a shame none of us live in the same town... or even state; you know?)#(I like all the people I went to high school with; they all cared a lot and were very bad at it)#(couldn't figure out that like... just give me some company; that's a good 80% of what I'm lacking)#(...I think part of it was they were all stoners and I wasn't; so they felt like... eh... like something something)#(and when I say all stoners I mean... I think... easily 80% of the school; probably 90% and maybe higher were all stoners)#(it uh... was not an easy thing for the staff; cause they obviously all knew; but... figuring out how to best handle it)#(like hell; I wouldn't want to deal with that)#(also like 95% were smokers... you have to understand that most of these kids were rich kids)#(off the top of my head I can only think of 2 other kids who were poor... just... uh...)#(if I named the city the school was in; you'd probably be like 'oh... makes sense')#(I liked everyone there; everyone liked me... just... they were very bad at just basic stuff like spending time together)#(eh... you don't need to hear more)

As much as I hate to say it, one of the few things that Cats 2019 did right was giving skimbleshanks pants. The shirt-with-no-pants look does work for some cartoon characters, but on skimbleshanks it absolutely just makes him look half-nude.
#i mean JUST-VEST-with-no-pants SOMETIMES looks good if the costume is well-balanced (ie the vest isn't oversized)#but when a human actor is on stage wearing a full dress shirt then he LOOKS like he NEEDS to also be wearing pants#disclaimer this is all just my opinion obviously I am not an expert on costume design or human psychology regarding nudity#cats#also while I'm here (cuz I don't want to make a separate post to say this):#In the Wembley stex revival is Greaseball supposed to be british or american???#because obviously she has a british accent but apparently before Rolling Stock she's still announced as a Union Pacific engine#(which is an american railroad)#which honestly seems like a weird detail to keep in given that none of the crayon crew were announced with *their* companys names#(that i could hear at least. My audio processing is still bad)#and none of the Wembley *costumes* are referencing real-life railroads either#then again Wide Smile is full of weird little artifacts of lines that make no sense now that the context around them has changed#and it would be very easy to change them to make sense but nobody did#so I guess it's par for the course
