As much as I hate to say it, one of the few things that Cats 2019 did right was giving skimbleshanks pants. The shirt-with-no-pants look does work for some cartoon characters, but on skimbleshanks it absolutely just makes him look half-nude.
#i mean JUST-VEST-with-no-pants SOMETIMES looks good if the costume is well-balanced (ie the vest isn't oversized)#but when a human actor is on stage wearing a full dress shirt then he LOOKS like he NEEDS to also be wearing pants#disclaimer this is all just my opinion obviously I am not an expert on costume design or human psychology regarding nudity#cats#also while I'm here (cuz I don't want to make a separate post to say this):#In the Wembley stex revival is Greaseball supposed to be british or american???#because obviously she has a british accent but apparently before Rolling Stock she's still announced as a Union Pacific engine#(which is an american railroad)#which honestly seems like a weird detail to keep in given that none of the crayon crew were announced with *their* companys names#(that i could hear at least. My audio processing is still bad)#and none of the Wembley *costumes* are referencing real-life railroads either#then again Wide Smile is full of weird little artifacts of lines that make no sense now that the context around them has changed#and it would be very easy to change them to make sense but nobody did#so I guess it's par for the course

Every now and then I'll see a critique like "they sure just shout their feelings at each other"
And it's like... a shounen fight anime for teenagers.
Which is not to say that the genre is not *capable* of subtly but like. Also, sometimes, when your target audience is teenage boys who are specifically looking for punches, like... sometimes, you put the text in the text on purpose. Sometimes, you consciously choose to have the hero geadbutt the power of friendship into a guy, and they talk about loneliness and fun and leadership.
And also sometimes. Characters don't have the vocabulary to describe their emotions in a way that sounds "valid." Sometimes that's characterization in itself, the lack of vocabulary to describe emotions and motivation. Honestly, it's wild how often people will just take characters at their word when they describe their feelings in a shallow way when like... all the imagery is like... clearly depicting something else. Like, say.... Sometimes, a character just says their bored, but like... literally, all the imagery involved clearly depicts a pretty deep depression or personal crisis. But that character has no words or frame of reference for how to discuss those feelings, so he just says he's bored and lashes out in increasingly erratic ways?
Yeah I might be talking about Wind Breaker again Tomiyama Choji gets done so fucking dirty by people what the fuck is up with so many videos I have seen just fucking going "what he did all this because he was bored???"
Like. No. Did you pay attention??? He lost his purpose, and he lost his way, and none of his friends were willing to stand up to him or stand with him, so even though he was the leader and he had a gang, he was entirely alone. But he didn't have the ability to find what he was missing, or name what he was feeling. So he didn't know how to ask for help.
He's as much a feral child as Sakura and so works as a first arc foil for him, a character who seeks power and leadership without any goals or intentions behind it besides "Freedom." Especially since Choji is shown not fully knowing for himself what freedom is or would represent. But for the types of people who end up in feral street gangs? And for a character that is a foil to Sakura and is also... very speed based in his fighting style. Freedom makes sense for something that Choji would want.
But it seems like a promise he was given without much intention of him receiving it. I don't really think he was supposed to overthrow the boss of his gang and become the leader... though that's some rampant speculation.
I dunno man. I know part of it is like. O ly one season is out, so everyone is still not sure what to think about it. And that's fair. I'm still like... confused about multiple angles of the series. I've read... a decent chunk of the manga, and I'm still like. Pretty curious about how the universe works, honestly. Maybe the fact that I clocked how Choji held his chopsticks and like. Multiple puzzle pieces fell into place because I have been loving the weird little details Wind Breaker will throw in. Either this series tells a very intense story through background details and character designs, or one day, I will be made a very large fool of.
None of this is an organised enough thought to be worth anything but like. I know this is probably not controversial among Wind Breaker *fans*, but like. I keep like... seeing people with this opinion in videos and stuff talking about Wind Breaker that seemed to have not connected and not understood.
Which does make me feel a little like a "you just don't *understand* man." But like. If you really felt like Choji acted the way he acted because he was bored and wanted to have more fun you like... *didn't get it* or were being purposefully disingenuous because you personally disliked the portrayal.

Godzilla 2014 made me believe cinema was real again.
That is...such a weird title and statement. It started off as “This film made me believe cinema was real again.” which is again, still very weird. But after seeing Fast X yesterday, I REALLY wanted to see this film. I have not rewatched it in some years. It’s been an hour since I watched it.
But yeah, Godzilla 2014. The first film in the Monsterverse. A film that is loved or hated by whoever you talk to. But what are my thoughts on it after not seeing it fully I assume for nearly four years.
I was a bit more critical or so years back. But let me just get straight to the point. Because I won’t make this a detailed review (Turns out, it became detailed, I took an hour and nearing two to finish this) and won’t spoil anything despite the film will be ten years old next years. Despite the concerns of how I would feel when I would watch it. Here’s what I think now about the film...
I FUCKING LOVE THIS FILM.
I SHIT YOU NOT.
(Again, this got detailed, there’s more to read in the keep reading option)
Granted, I totally get the criticisms and nitpicks people have towards this film. But to me, this is likely the BEST start to an American Godzilla franchise. And I feel like since I’m older now. I appreciate this film more so now than when I was younger. Mainly because I think my priorities are different. And also again, a film I saw yesterday just...what I watched yesterday. I also planned on watching Godzilla 2014 sometime, but I felt the time was now because oh my God. I needed this.
Again, I totally get the criticisms towards this film. Let me get straight to the point. I really think some of the advertising did not do this film well. Despite how powerful the promotions were. I legit think some of it needed to be different. Because the expectations were high. But also, the main protagonist, Ford Brody.
In all seriousness, even though he’s a passive protagonist, even though he doesn’t seem like it when I look back at it. While Joe Brody’s performance by Bryan Cranston is undeniably powerful. Especially that emotional scene with him and his wife. But I don’t mind Ford, Aaron Taylor Johnson does a good job. Everyone does a good job with the roles they are given. The best ones I think are Ken Watanabe as Ishiro Serizawa and also again, Bryan.
I feel like maybe the best option to me would’ve been to combine the characters of Joe and Ford into one character. Which may be difficult. Or somehow convince the audience in the promos, “No, this isn’t Godzilla vs Walter White. Please don’t expect that.” Because I legit feel like the roles are pretty good in where they are at. I do agree that maybe give more humanizing moments with Ford despite he’s already a fine character. Maybe moments with him family that’s more akin to something like Roy Scheider’s Chief Martin Brody (Amusing they both have the same last names) from Jaws. Maybe a moment similar to this between Ford and Sam. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AiYQtzRD8w
Yet we do have a scene with his family. I’m rambling on, but honestly, none of the human characters are bad.
Maybe Ford could’ve used a character arc to maybe get people invested in his character. But again, none of the characters bothered me. They all do their jobs fine within the story they are in. Now, let’s get to the other parts.
BECAUSE HOLY SHIT. I WISHED I COULD’VE SEEN THIS FILM IN AN IMAX THEATER.
But in all seriousness, with the room I’m sleeping in. It can feel like my own theater room in a way. But seriously, there so much good stuff in this film. Such as the score, its fit so damn well. Even though it may not be the iconic Akira Ifukube theme which they weren’t allowed to use. But it fits damn well with this film.
Let me tell you this and I got to get to this point this. Brian Rogers stressed his and Legendary’s wish was to revive Godzilla in the same fashion Legendary did with Batman. And the influences for Godzilla 2014 were films like Jaws, Alien, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. With Gareth stating he grew up watching Spielberg films and wanted to do the same thing with this. Along with growing up with early 80′s and late 70′s action films.
Let me tell you this. Despite whatever issues I may have with this film. But it’s not a whole lot. But let me tell you this, I think they managed to actually do that. They actually did it. Because this film is likely in my list of favorite Godzilla films. I now get what I thought they said they were trying to do “The Dark Knight” of Godzilla. Yet that wasn’t an official quote, I took that Legendary quote wrong of them reviving Godzilla the same way they did Batman. But I must say, they did well on that.
I legit felt excited and happy watching this film. Especially at certain epic moments and the more tense moments. Those were good, this is a legitimate good film. Because I’ll say this, it’s fine some people may find this film boring, and complaining about the fights being at nighttime. Or cutting off away from the fights at times. I totally get that. Do I wish some of that was dealt with differently? Absolutely, but I am fucking happy.
I haven’t even talked about Godzilla and the MUTO’s. I’ll always love Godzilla, the portrayal of him, and all that. He’s a presence when he’s on screen and my God, he is done incredible justice. The “Last Samurai” approach to his character works well here. And despite my strange feelings towards them. But I seem to love the MUTO’s more than ever. Or it’s mainly because I love their uniqueness and how different they are. While they aren’t characters like King Ghidorah, Destoroyah, Gigan or the Gryphon from the original screenplay for TriStar’s Godzilla. But that’s okay, they’re so different and have so many elements that make me appreciate them as characters. Kind or...more so than some of their original concepts. That being Rokmutul and Pterodactyl. But fuck, I would’ve loved those guys too. But again, the MUTO’s make more sense.
There’s so much good stuff in this film. The production value, the directing, again, the score and so much other stuff. But I think I’ve rambled long enough. While I could be overpraising it and the Godzilla franchise has been on my mind lately. Including that ridiculous title I wrote for this post.
But alias, I was legit happy watching this film. And again, now that I’m older, I appreciate this film much more. And I’m someone who loves films like Kong Skull Island and Godzilla KOTM 2019.
This is such a good film.

Even the Losers
Chapter 11
Chapter 1 Chapter 10
“What do you mean he knew?” Dick asked, taking a seat in the chair across from Bruce. He looked around for Alfred to make sure he wasn’t going to lecture them for talking about bat business in the manor when Bruce’s newest daughter could walk in on them at any moment.
Dick scrunched his face in thought. That wasn’t right was it? She wasn’t his newest daughter. She was his oldest child. Well, not oldest. He was the oldest. But she was the one he had the longest. He had her before he took in Dick. He’d given her up and then taken Dick in soon after and honestly Dick wasn’t sure how to reconcile that. He was eternally grateful that Bruce had taken him in and helped him, dealt with his rebellions and helped him focus his anger. But if he’d had such patience for him, why not his own daughter?
Dick was forced off of his thought process by Bruce, bringing them back to the topic at hand. “He knew we were going there somehow. He just thought it was earlier than we had planned.” Bruce sighed and ran his hands through his hair. “He was wandering through the museum looking for us, or more specifically, her.”
Tim stared at the coffee table in front of him trying to work out how the Penguin could have known. “Did you talk about it? Somewhere that could have been bugged?”
Bruce shook his head. “I didn’t really have time to. It was all last minute. But I don’t know about Marinette.”
“When did you plan it? Was it in your schedule?” Tim pressed. “Because if there is a leak at WE with high enough permissions to have access to your calendar, that is a big problem.” His eyes widened immediately. “Not that a rogue going after Marinette isn’t! It’s just another problem.”
Bruce raised an eyebrow at him but didn’t say anything about it. “Dinner…” he sighed deeply in realization. “The waitress. Right. We’ll have to talk to her tomorrow.”
“You think she sold information?” Duke asked.
“Or she told someone who sold it, or someone overheard her gossiping, or…” Damian listed off in a condescending tone.
“Are you going to warn Marinette?” Duke interrupted, his brow furrowing in concern. They should have anticipated this. They’d taken precautions for him after the official announcement of his new status, but they hadn’t moved to protect her yet.
Bruce nodded. “I’ll talk to her about expectations of being my daughter. So far, this is fairly expected. I don’t want to send her into a panic, but she should know the dangers she’s going to have to face now.” He sighed guiltily and pinched the bridge of his nose. This was exactly what he had been trying to protect her from all those years ago. And the idea that one of the rogues might have taken his child to get back at him, a baby who had no chance of protecting herself, still haunted him.
Cass frowned at him. “Not safe,” she chastised.
“I’m not saying we don’t protect her too. I think it would be a good idea to make sure we can keep an eye on her and be able to track her so we know if she’s been taken or involved in a rogue attack. I’ll talk to her about safety precautions, so she isn’t announcing plans where others can hear her. She’s planning on moving into the apartment with her friends soon, so that should help at night.”
“Good,” Dick agreed. “From what Jason said about the other day and the concierge just letting it happen, the sooner we get her out of that hotel the better.”
“What do we know about her ability to defend herself?” Tim asked.
“According to her mother, none. She’s never had training. Never had to defend herself,” Bruce sighed. That was exactly the upbringing he wanted for her, to never need to defend herself. But now, that was biting them in the ass. Because now, she might need to be able to defend herself and couldn’t.
Damian scoffed. “She’s weak and defenseless, is what you mean. We’re going to have to spend our time and our energy protecting her because she isn’t capable of it.”
“She’s innocent,” Bruce corrected. “That was the entire point of sending her away, so she could be. And that’s supposed to be our entire job, protecting the innocent. She is no exception.” They all froze when the door to the sitting room cracked open.
<><><><><>
Marinette took a calming breath. Driving up to the manor had been impressive, entering the manor had been even more so. The entire place was dripping with history and prestige. All the touches looked highest class, highest quality, all well thought out and coordinated over years of design, speaking of bespoke everything. It was about as far from what Marinette grew up in as there could be. It was somber and distant. Sterile even in its lavish details.
And yet, it wasn’t the imposing design that had her heart racing. She could hear voices echoing through the empty halls. She couldn’t make out anything being said, only the variations in baritones and tenor pitches to them.
“Relax, Pixie. They’re going to love you. You could tell them to fuck off,” he took a quick look around when he said it before relaxing back into his motivational speech. “And you’d still come out as someone else’s favorite too. There’s nobody in there you need to impress.” He patted her on the back and squeezed her shoulder. “Just maybe stay away from Damian. He’s a spiteful little shit. Better than he was when he came but… just to be safe…”
He took off his jacket and motioned to hers. “Also,” he continued as he took her jacket, “don’t say the word ‘pineapple’.”
Marinette laughed and shoved him. “Stop messing with me. I’m nervous enough already.” Jason looked at her suddenly very serious. Marinette faltered for a second before scoffing. “Shut up.”
“I’m telling you, just don’t say it.”
She rolled her eyes. This had to be one of the most ridiculous conversations ever. “Okay, first, I still don’t believe you. Second, why would I?”
Jason shook his head and backed away. “I don’t know. It always manages to come up though.” He pointed at her as he backed out of the room. “Fight the temptation. I’m going to hang these up. They’re in that room.” He motioned vaguely toward a room down the hall, which considering how many rooms were down the hall wasn’t actually all that helpful. “Go ahead, they’re expecting us.”
“You’re kind of an asshole, you know that,” she called after him.
“Only kind of? You might like me more than the rest,” he called back with a laugh.
Marinette shook her head and started down the hallway. It couldn’t be that hard to find, right. There had to be signs. “What do you think, Tikki?” she whispered almost too quiet for anyone to hear.
“Jason’s right,” she assured Marinette just as quietly. “They’ll love you. Just be yourself. It’s the next door on the left.”
Marinette grinned at her and noted the light under the door. Definitely the right door. “Thank you,” she whispered. “Wish me luck.” She took another breath and bolstered herself for the next few hours. Hopefully it would go amazingly, but even if it didn’t, she could withstand a few hours of awkward, uncomfortable conversation and looks. She survived all the Graham de Vanily parties Adrien dragged her to, she could survive this. She nodded to herself, silently cursed Jason for abandoning her, and pushed open the door.
The room immediately quieted as Marinette walked in. Everyone turned to her as a unit, tight anxious smiles on their lips. Marinette froze and tried to smile politely at them, but she was pretty sure it looked more frightened than polite. The people in the room continued to stare at her almost analytically. The intensity of the stares was unnerving and unsettling. She almost backed out of the room until she felt someone step up next to her and sling their arm over her shoulder. She looked up hesitantly but breathed out a sigh of relief when she saw Jason next to her.
“Stop being weird. You’re creeping her out,” Jason barked at them.
Jason’s order seemed to break them out of their trance. Everyone moved at once, jumping up to welcome her or moving rapidly towards her to shake her hand, except for the youngest who frowned and crossed his arms and a woman, who must be Cass, Marinette reasoned, who just waved from her spot next to Bruce. Marinette tensed up but didn’t back away, instead bracing herself for the onslaught. The noise became almost overwhelming as multiple people were speaking at once and Jason shouted back, pulling Marinette away from them.
“Enough!” Bruce yelled, instantly silencing everyone in the room. He turned to Marinette with a warm smile. “Sorry about that. I was hoping for a more welcoming introduction, but with this family…” he motioned to the rest of the room with a defeated sigh.
He crossed the room to her quickly but froze when he got to her, uncertain what form of physical welcome was allowed. A handshake seemed too formal and distant, but a hug seemed too personal for only their second meeting in twenty years, well, technically fourth, but the first two didn’t exactly count. On the other hand, last time they did la bise, so that was more appropriate, right? He decided to leave it to Marinette, but she didn’t seem any more certain than he did, judging by her awkward wave and quick looks to his hand and cheek.
He smiled in response. They’d figure it out eventually, hopefully. For now, he just needed to make sure she felt welcome. He opened his mouth to welcome her to the manor and start introductions but got cut off by a very excited Dick.
“Oh wow, I didn’t realize how much she looks like your mother until now.” Dick moved right in front of Marinette examining every centimeter of her face intensely. “Her eyes look just like hers. They could be twins. Do you have any pictures of her when she was a baby so we can compare?”
Marinette’s face went blank as she stared back at Dick. She quirked her head to the side trying to figure out how to respond to that, or if she was even supposed to, considering despite the fact that his face was only a handful of centimeters from hers, he wasn’t talking to her. Her quandary was answered when Jason shoved Dick away harshly. “She has a name, Dickweed,” Jason growled. “And she’s right the fuck in front of you, have some respect.”
“Language Master Jason,” Alfred admonished coming into the room. “But he is correct, Master Dick.”
“Right,” Dick said sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck. “Sorry, Marinette. That was rude. Hi, I’m Dick.” He held his hand out for Marinette.
Marinette shook it with a smile. “It’s okay. I’ve always wondered where I got my blue eyes from.” She chuckled a little nervously and shrugged. “Mystery solved, I guess.”
Bruce laid a hand on her shoulder, drawing her attention back to him. “I can show you pictures later, if you’d like to see, or whenever you’re ready.” He pulled his hand away and shoved it into his pocket awkwardly. “Or, at some point I, or somebody else can give you a tour of the manor and I’m sure you’ll see lots of pictures of,” he paused only a fraction of a second, uncertain how she would take the term, “your grandparents.”
Marinette swallowed almost imperceptibly, but covered with a smile. “Yeah, that would be nice.”
The pause she took to respond would be missed by most people but a room full of people trained to detect tells like that didn’t miss it. Duke jumped up with a big smile. “Hi,” he shot out his hand to shake hers, “I’m Duke. It’s nice to meet you.”
Marinette smiled back at him and shook his hand. “Hi. It’s nice to meet you. Sorry for ruining your introduction gala.”
Duke scoffed. “Are you kidding me? I hate attention. Thank you for taking the attention off of me.” He suddenly cringed realizing what he was saying. “I mean… That’s not what I meant. Sorry it had to land solely on you. Want me to do something stupid to get the attention back?”
Marinette laughed at his attempt to cover. For once it wasn’t her saying the wrong thing with the best intention. “No, please don’t and don’t worry,” she waved him off with a smile, “I knew what you meant. Not your fault. Honestly, not as bad as it could have been. I’ve dealt with worse.”
“You have?” Jason asked, his face scrunching in concern.
Marinette shrugged at him and turned back to Duke. “Glad I was at least able to help a bit.”
Duke grinned at her. “You did. You’re already more helpful than most of them,” he motioned toward the rest of the family. “Definite contender for new favorite sibling.” Dick let out an exaggeratedly loud offended scoff while Cass shrugged and bobbed her head in agreement. Tim furrowed his brow and exclaimed, “Hey!” But the corner of his lips quirking up betrayed his act.
Jason glowered at Duke and stepped between them. “Back off! I already claimed her.” He turned back to Marinette. “Now what is this about you’ve dealt with worse? Is there someone I need to have a talk with?”
“I’m sorry for being rude,” Bruce interrupted before the conversation went down a darker path than he was hoping for this meeting. “Welcome to the manor, Marinette. Thank you for coming. You’ve already met Jason, Dick, and Duke. That is Tim,” he motioned to the teen on the couch who waved politely but awkwardly. His eyes only flicked to hers a few times and only for a fraction of a second before flicking away, a pained look shooting through them.
“Next to him is Damian.” He rolled his eyes and looked away, but didn’t attack like both Roy and Jason warned her he might, so she was taking it as a win. “Cass is there,” he motioned toward Cass, who waved again, just as kindly as the first time. “And this is Alfred.”
Alfred stepped forward and bowed slightly to Marinette. “It’s a pleasure to see you again, Miss Marinette.”
Marinette narrowed her eyes at him as she scrutinized his face. “You look familiar.”
Alfred’s eyes sparkled at her recognition. He started to say something, but whatever it was got lost when Dick interrupted. “Wait!” He jumped in Alfred’s face. “Is this why you took all your vacations in Paris?” he exclaimed. His eyes widening in realization.
“It is indeed, Master Dick,” Alfred nodded.
“That’s why you look familiar!” Marinette exclaimed. “You were a repeat customer in the patisserie.”
“I am very happy to see you back in the manor, Miss Marinette,” Alfred gave her a curt nod as a smile played on the corners of his lips.
Marinette tensed at the reminder that she may have at some point have been in the manor. It ripped open a Pandora’s Box of questions, each one more unsettling than the last. Had she been in the manor before? Had she interacted with her f… M. Wayne when she was a baby? Did he hold her? Did he kiss her head? Did he hold her for a few minutes and hand her back like she did to Jamil’s baby, feeling no more connection than she had to Remi? Did he cuddle her to his chest and hold her close only to hand her back and walk away? Did he feel nothing when he held her? Did his chest feel less tight when she was no longer near him? Did he heave a sigh of relief when he handed her back?
No. She had to stop focusing on those questions. That was the past. Nothing would be gained from asking those questions tonight. He wasn’t ready to give an answer and she wasn’t ready to receive it. He’d apologized and she’d accepted. She would just… let the questions plague her and slowly drive her into insanity. That was the plan. She quickly plastered on a smile and nodded back at Alfred. “It is good to see you again, M. Pennyworth.”
“Please, call me Alfred,” he said, his amused smile turning sympathetic seeing the change in her demeanor. “All the children do.”
Marinette smiled back, her smile more strained than before. Was she one of the children? She guessed technically she was. “Only if you call me Marinette.”
“Of course, Miss Marinette,” Alfred nodded.
Marinette raised an eyebrow but nodded back. She understood deeply ingrained British upper class formality. She hadn’t survived parties with Felix and Adrien for nothing. But if he wanted to embrace the detached formality, so would she. “Thank you, M. Pennyworth.”
Alfred raised an eyebrow but said nothing. “Maybe we could plan for a tour of the manor and a look through photo albums at a later time. For now, dinner is ready.”
At Alfred’s pronouncement, everyone started moving out of the room. Marinette watched them all making their way toward what must be the dining room, but didn’t move herself. It still felt awkward to walk around the manor… again, apparently. She didn’t move until Jason threw his arm over her shoulder and gently prodded her forward. She gave him a small smile and threw her arm around his waist.
She looked past him to give Tim who had also hung back a bit, a small smile. He gave her a guilty smile back and a little wave. Marinette gave him a quizzical look, trying to figure out what he had to feel guilty about. But it looked like he didn’t want to get too close with Jason at her side. And as much as she wanted to ask what Tim was thinking about, she was beyond grateful that Jason had taken up post at her side. She didn’t know if she would have been able to make it through this without him. She squeezed his waist and looked up at him with a smile. He looked down with a questioning look that quickly turned into a smile and he squeezed back.

Diavolo
Diavolo would most likely have the largest and most intricate pact mark, and you would need to place it on a large space, so your thigh would be the best option for him. He had it spaced out a bit, so it could take up the entire thing, so each detail would not only be seen, but traced carefully on long nights together. When you call for him it glows a deep carmine, with a black mist rising from the golden outline, it freaks the brothers out sometimes because they think you're catching fire at times.
Whenever you sit next to him, with exposed thighs or not, he'll have a soft but firm grip on you, almost pull your leg closer to him at times and your almost sliding out the chair- much to Lucifer's dismay and Barbatos's amusement. His mark trails down his spine, it ties in with his own demon markings, and is the only one that glows white on his body. It means a lot in the Devildom for its prince to have such a bond, especially with a human, so it takes not only an intense amount of trust, but the knowledge that you'd stay by his side.
On long days, he'll lay on you in bed, shirtless, and have you just trace the new mark for as long as he can. It's relaxing and just helps him clear his mind, get his thoughts in order, so you'll often see the mark glow as he mumbles to himself. Moments like this are common but build on a deep respect you need to hold for one another, and realize that he can't tell you everything just yet, the truth comes at its own pace and Diavolo only hopes that he could tell you in moments like these.
Moments like these he would expose his heart to you, his soul, where the marks you two had would be held by one another, and he would spill the truths of the Devildom to you- the ones passed down only to those in the royal line or who marry into it, truths not even Barbatos or Lucifer know, just you and him.
Making a pact with Diavolo means you'd accept not only ruling with him, but the intensity of his situation, from dealing with his father to keeping the Devildom itself stable, a pact is only the beginning of a long and extended life with him.
Barbatos
Barbatos would place his pact mark somewhere where only he can see, a treat only he can enjoy, so he would place it on the inside of your thigh, high up and just shy of touching the most intimate parts of you. He shares everything about himself with someone- his time and energy with Diavolo and Lucifer for example- so when he has these moments alone, with you, he allows himself to do what demons are good at.
He indulges. He allows himself to keep something for him. So this pact with you, it allows some control, some sort of intimacy that he longs for. He wants it to be just him and you with this pact. Solomon was a tricky one- you are the everything. When attending RAD, he'll pull you into the empty student council office and hold you, sometimes leading to more intimate moments of a lustful nature. You've expected this, from seeing how touchy demons can be with their pact marks (*cough*MAMMON*cough*), and entering a relationship would only fuel his hunger for you.
He would hold the same sentiment when it comes to his own mark from you, placing it somewhere for him to enjoy and admire, though he didn't mind SOME attention on it. He would place it under his navel, since his usual stance as a butler has him always placing a hand on the area, he can touch his own mark without it seeming suspicious. He may have to give himself to Diavolo for extended amounts of time, unable to see you, so he'll move off for a bit and activate the mark. It glows a snowy white and he'll focus, let you feel the ghost of his touch, either in your hair or wrapping his arms around you.
Making a pact with Barbatos means you will support him when he is done being the support, loving and allowing him to be true to his nature, after all, helping run the Devildom is hard work especially when he needs to share so much of his time.
You allow him some peace of mind, alone, just you and him. You're his heart, the one he thought was lost long ago, alive and beating- only for you.
[ B L E S S I N G S ]
Simeon
Simeon gives a blessing to you when he sees you need some guidance, a time where you really are questioning yourself and the things around you, so this would be after Belphie had killed your old body and you now are in this universe's body. You had confided in him about feeling displaced, like an impostor in your own body, and there were differences from your original timeline that changed some relationships with the brothers. Some had been more threatening than their original counterparts and vice versa, some of your Little D's were not greed and gluttony, but wrath and sloth.
It felt like your mind was going to break from the small and subtle differences. He decided that night, to give you a blessing, the blessing of Psychokinesis. Your soul can now change things in the physical realm if you focus enough, this can be from talking with spirits to mind control and energy healing. He knows you won't misuse the gift he's given you, and he knows you focus on the healing aspect of the blessing, which he helps you with when you're free.
The mark is gold, literally, it's like someone melted gold onto your skin. It's placed on your forehead, in the shape of an eye, and can only be seen if you allow it to be seen. You asked him why and he only responds in inexplicable tones, leaving you with more questions than answers, but you thought it had something to do with angels usually having extra eyes.
His blessing for you appears on his tanned hand, the gold accenting his skin beautifully, his palm always moving in a much more delicate manner- due to treating it with care. He allows himself to care for you, to love you in a deeper way to comfort you, pressing innocent and loving kisses to your forehead, watching the mark flare up from his touch before calming down. When he touches you, for any reason, his marked hand moves first, needing to comfort and trace you in the most thoughtful way one can imagine.
Simeon giving you a blessing goes both ways, because in his eyes and with his knowledge, you are a blessing to the three realms as well.
Luke
Having a blessing from Luke is honestly the most heartwarming thing, even the brothers, Diavolo, and Barbatos are all kinda touched at the nurturing relationship you two have. Like Simeon, Luke would give you a blessing after seeing you in a stressful time, so this would be after he was found by Lucifer and seeing him lose his shit. He saw how you defended him and Beel against Lucifer himself, the fallen Morning Star, the Seraph that no longer has all his wings.
He'd visit you later that night, seeing you have trouble sleeping, and would sit on your bed and hold your hand. He'd know you were scared, he's an angel, he could feel it, but you still defended him and kept him safe. He realized how much he looked up to you and cared for you in that moment. He saw you as a guardian, in a literal and figurative way, which is why he wanted to do something for you in return.
He would give you the blessing of truth, in which you could detect any and all lies when you wished, and that any lies would never harm you. Say Asmodeus is calling you unworthy of beauty? It would never hit your self esteem. You know how Mammon says he could care less about what would happen to you? This demon would be devastated. Diavolo says he isn't stressed and is feeling just so amazing? Please give the man a hug.
He didn't want people to hurt you with something as flimsy as words, you deserved to know the truth and deserved to be happy, so his golden mark is on your eyes. They glow a deep gold that rivals Diavolos, and he always says you look your best when you leave them like that, because then everyone knows you have some celestial beings on your side! You only can chuckle and shake your head at his antics, ruffling his hair before telling him to calm down just a bit, you were sure no one would bother you. His mark appears on his own eyes as well, he says he loves it when you two match! Tried to get Simeon to have his eyes glow more as well, it's the three of you after all, maybe if he convinces Solomon to use a spell on his own eyes then it's a family affair!
Having a blessing from Luke means he looks up to you and only wants the best for you, so of course he'd give you the best blessing he can at his level, be sure to expect more when he grows as an angel.
[ B L O O D P A C T ]
Solomon
You two made a blood pact pretty early into coming into the Devildom, you had been hanging out a lot by that time, and he brought up the idea. You heard about blood pacts, assuming only crazy people made them or weird cultists, but he showed you there could be a magical aspect to it.
Since humans are "weaker beings" when it comes to a physical and power stance, they make up for it in magic, their bodies are weaker but their souls are stronger and brighter. Why do you think the most powerful magic users are human? They're batteries for that shit! He'd make sure you knew everything that came with making a blood pact, from feeling each other's thoughts and emotions to being able to create magic stronger than the both of you, the pros and cons of each- but goddammit he made a good case for each.
You'd be sitting on his bed facing one another, each holding out your left hands, a dagger crafted for occasions like these held in his right. The pact was made for keeping you two together, always going to be in each other's lives from there on out, after all, these pacts tie souls together for only eternity.
You realized that day, Solomon, if he wasn't a wildly powerful sorcerer, would make a great salesman. After making the pact, you'd often tease him about it, to which he would use said pact to tickle you or do some rather... scandalous things. He lives for the moments when you lean back on his chest, and he would take your scarred palm in his, and he would lightly trace over the newly enforced flesh. He'd allow his palm to flatten out on you and let you feel his own scar, but if you were to take his hand in yours and kiss his knuckles before leaving an extra long one on his mark, the boy just m e l t s.
Making a blood pact with Solomon would mean getting a tattoo to seal the deal, you'd get a white owl and he would get a black sheep, you both decide to get them on matching spots where a pact mark won't interfere with- possibly behind your ears or right under your hairlines on the back of your neck. (I highkey fw the theory that the black sheep in the background of the To-Do List is actually MC).
A blood pact with Solomon means staying with him for a long while, either as friends or lovers, it means you'd never leave one another. It's something that's deeper than the "weak" bodies you two hold, it's something that he'd never do with anyone else, no one can hold a candle to your light after all.

Hey, anyone want to see me pull out one of my really old aus again? It’s my creator-creation swap au again. Honestly, this was my favourite out of my own aus, I just never know what to do with it.
For a recap of the au, Hyde is the original scientist, Jekyll is the “purely good alter ego” but in the same awkward, trying-too-hard way that original Hyde is the evil alter ego in canon. Frankenstein and Creature also trade places.
Firstly, when I first created this au I gave Jekyll the green colour scheme and Hyde the red one. I’ve changed that. The idea of Hyde in red clothes having a green eyed moment where he breaks down crying was just too strange to me on so many levels. Instead, to differentiate these versions of Jekyll and Hyde from the originals, I’ve given them both bandages on their arms.
Hyde gets into a lot of scrapes and Jekyll has his own share of injuries.
Anyway, new au details:
- Jekyll is incredibly squeamish of blood and injuries. He starts shaking pretty violently whenever he sees blood and he absolutely hates it. It’s horrible conduct to shake when someone is trying to speak to you. Not gentlemanly in the least. As such, he tends to apologize a lot when he’s doing it.
- The lodgers don’t realize at first that Jekyll is willing to hurt himself to follow orders.
At first, it’s like a game of truth or dare, trying to find out what questions he’s willing to answer, what sort of commands he’s willing to do, what the funniest thing they can make him do is. (Well he wasn’t willing to slap or kiss anyone and he refuses to tell anyone about his past so he clearly has limits.)
Jekyll, always happy to please, seems to be having a good time. Besides, he’s still rather mischevous at heart so a game of truth or dare, although he tries to view it internally as just a set of commands to follow (This isn’t supposed to be fun. Proper gentlemen don’t do fun), is actually a blast for him. Everyone is having too much fun with the game to realize that it’s going too far until it’s too late. It’s not until someone gives a poorly thought through command, not expecting him to actually follow it, that Jekyll gets hurt and the truth of the situation dawns of them. (Not sure what the command would be. Maybe they ask him to touch a hot coal or juggle knives. Or maybe he sticks around after they’re done for far too long. Someone gets annoyed and badly phrases their “go away” like how some people use phrases like “go to hell” but Jekyll mistakes it for a serious command.)
- From that point on, the lodgers are a lot more careful with commands and even try to be more sensitive to Jekyll. However, Jekyll absolutely hates being fussed over and tends to sort of avoid anyone who worries over his health too much.
- Although the lodgers are pretty careful, there are a lot of people out there more than willing to take advantage of Jekyll and he frequently comes back with cuts and bruises.
- The lodgers are convinced that Edward Hyde has an alter ego that he uses to go out, get into fights, and get drunk at nights based on the fact that he keeps disappearing at nights and coming back with bruises and cuts. (Not some magical science alter ego, just a fake name and maybe a wig.)
- These stories have gone around and gotten exaggerated so much like a game of telephone that a bunch of the lodgers are genuinely convinced that Hyde goes to fight clubs at night under the stage name of The Spirit of London at Night. Hyde is absolutely bewildered as to why people keep calling him that and then winking.
- When Jekyll is prevented from going out, instead of using the nightmares to torment Hyde and achieve his freedom, he turns to the mind... People..? Mind Frankenstein stays as a neutral party, just wanting to continue studying the inside of Hyde’s mind but Mind Lanyon is still completely for getting rid of Hyde or at least just being really rude to him. It’s difficult for Hyde to differentiate the horrible things he’s been told by Mind Lanyon (and probably the other mind people too but none of them have been revealed in canon so I don’t know what they would be like.) from the real Lanyon.
- It’s a lot more concerning when Jekyll vanishes after the fire considering the kind of person he is. It may make sense for Hyde to do his best to run from the police but Jekyll in this au isn’t the type in the least. Especially vanishing so thoroughly. Rachel knows something is up but Lanyon is pretty flippant, believing that maybe someone just asked him to stay put. But Rachel asked every one of the lodgers and none of them have seen him since or given him any sort of command to hide himself. Even then, she’s pretty confident that he wouldn’t be able to sit still knowing that most of the police force is out looking for him and, by evading capture, he’s just wasting all of their time and effort which could be spent looking for other criminals.
- When Jekyll does show up again, Rachel manages to catch him before he turns himself in and beg him not to. Jekyll is torn between following the law and not wanting to upset Rachel and its clear that, although she’s gotten him to stay still for now, he’ll probably go straight back to the police the moment her back is turned. Unsure where else to take him, she takes him to Lucy, hoping to show him that breaking the law doesn’t necessarily make him a bad person and that the world isn’t as black and white as he thinks it is.
- Jekyll meeting Lucy doesn’t go particularly well. Staying in control too long makes him pretty jittery and Hyde is a huge Lucy fanboy (again) which makes Jekyll, in a weird, guilty way, very excited to see her. Except she’s a wanted criminal! And Hyde in all his rotteness likes her! So, to Dr Jekyll, that must make her a bad person too. Except... Upon meeting her and having the situation explained she’s... Not as bad as everyone made her out to be..? But that doesn’t make sense to Jekyll because... because it just isn’t right! Then, there’s the fact that he’s supposed to be in prison for his crimes at that moment but Rachel is practically begging him not to and he can’t upset his friends! And she’s asking so many questions he can’t answer about where he’s been hiding, what’s been stopping him from going out all this time, but if she ever found out the truth, she would surely hate him! Just like how the mind versions of his friends hate him for what he is.
Finally, overwhelmed, Jekyll can’t take it anymore. With no regards for how rude it is to just sprint out the door without even a goodbye, he runs for it. Although Rachel tries to follow him, Jekyll has a head start and all of Hyde’s street smarts. Even in such a state Jekyll easily manages to slip away in the sewers and disappear.
Rachel doesn’t know what happens to him after that. He seems to have just vanished into thin air yet again and she doesn’t know where he went or what he decided to do in the end. She didn’t even find out where he had been all that time. All she can do is hope.
- Jekyll may or may not be very rude to Lucy in his fluster and panic. Luckily, unlike canon, the stories Lucy has heard of him don’t paint him as a jerk. Understanding that this isn’t normal for him and recognizing that he’s lashing out, she’s a lot more sympathetic despite how nasty he gets to her and her spouses, trying to soothe him as best as she can. Rachel has never seen such behaviour from Jekyll before and is horrified to see him acting in such a way.

Kizuna drama CD: Detail spotting and nuance analysis
02 involved displaying its group dynamic through mundane interactions and wacky hijinks, and the circumstances of an eight-year block of time between Kizuna and 02, plus the fact that Hikari and Takeru operate separately from the others due to the movie’s circumstances, mean that the drama CD centering around the group is actually our most reliable source of info regarding how they’re doing at this time and how their group dynamic is going. Much like 02 itself, getting a lot of this nuance requires reading between the lines, so let’s take a closer look!
Since this is a drama CD and not animated material, I’ll be going through this in bullet points instead of screenshots.
The fact that the drama CD itself deliberately uses the same format as a 02 episode carries a very strong implication that, unlike their seniors who are going through an existential crisis about how much of their childhood experiences they can bring with them into adulthood, the 02 group is still roughly able to recreate the same atmosphere they had eight years ago. Noticeably, the ending song chosen for this is the first ED (Tomorrow My Wind Will Blow), the more lighthearted one used for the first half, before a lot of really emotionally vicious things started happening to them.
The phrase “it’s been a while” and variants thereof come up between this group a lot within this drama CD (and once in the movie itself, from Hawkmon to the others). Look closely at the circumstances of this drama CD and how everyone seems to be very intimately aware of each other’s situations, and the fact that this story obviously takes place only a short time before the movie itself -- so it really hasn’t been a very long time at all, but apparently even that much is considered a “long time” for them. (It also seems like they’re going out of their way to make sure they’re still keeping in regular contact even when they can’t actually meet up.)
Daisuke says, very clearly, that Iori was the one he intended to approach “first” because he was so busy -- but he’s shown walking in with Takeru, meaning that the two of them are on very good terms now and seem to have been hanging out independently.
Daisuke wanted his plan to be a “surprise” reveal to the others, and the actual practical purpose of his plan (it being a career study trip for him) seems to have been very low on the priority list to the point it takes the CD’s entire half-hour runtime for him to finally bring it up. Before then, he’d been cheerfully fantasizing about all the fun things he’d get to do with them, and it even says a lot that he’d also wanted to discuss this at a karaoke bar of all things, so, really, in his head, “hanging out with friends and having fun with them” is the actual priority (especially since there’s basically no reason he needs to have the others on his ramen research trip, he just wants them there because he does).
The fact that the boys have to sneak in the Digimon to avoid getting extra charges means that society will now recognize them as patrons to be regularly charged.
Daisuke is asked by Iori which people he intends to bring to his trip, which implies that the 02 group isn’t technically an exclusive club or anything...but then Daisuke proceeds to list off the 02 group by name, implying that this group does indeed have a particularly elevated level of importance to him.
Look carefully at the nuances surrounding whom Daisuke wants to invite to his trip: he wanted to invite the seniors as well, but resigned himself to the fact it’d probably be impossible because they were too busy...only for the others to point out that the rest of the 02 group is also busy, but everyone is confident that they’ll make it work, and Daisuke wants them there to the point of listing them by name. So in other words, Daisuke likes everyone and would like everyone around in the ideal situation, but when push comes to shove, the rest of the 02 group is whom he really wants to have around, and said group can be reliably counted on to do whatever it takes to make it work.
The way everyone casually describes each other's circumstances (and in specific detail, not just generally describing what they're up to) says a lot; Armadimon's still talking with Hawkmon about Miyako (meaning Miyako and Iori are still regularly in contact), Takeru's up-to-date with Ken's life to the point of knowing his upcoming schedule, Daisuke's fully aware of how busy Iori is, and, later, the one to affectionately greet Hawkmon is none other than Wormmon, who, back in 02, used to only really be close with Ken himself and V-mon. You can see that everyone’s still constantly involved in each other’s lives, including their own partners being up-to-date on each other (compare the more distant relationship their seniors are portrayed with in the movie itself, both with each other and with their partners), and you can also see that Ken and Wormmon have fully integrated themselves into the group to the point it’s a completely casual affair (Iori, the one who infamously had the longest and most drawn-out process in accepting Ken, is the one to personally ask him about his preferences).
That said, note that Takeru and Iori still seem to be on surname basis with Ken, even despite obviously being much closer with him than they were before; unfortunately, it seems that having been on surname basis with him so long in 02 became a habit, leaving Daisuke and Miyako as the only ones currently known to have switched to given name basis with him.
It’s interesting that Ken, not Daisuke, is the one explicitly stated to be keeping up with soccer to the point of having schedule commitments, whereas no mention of this whatsoever is made with Daisuke, and it’s entirely possible that Daisuke actually quit playing it in an organized fashion. This is, however, consistent with their personalities, in that Ken would likely want to keep up with organized extracurricular hobbies, whereas Daisuke may enjoy soccer as a hobby, but not enough to continue committing to a high-level team. (Remember that Daisuke took a while to get a regular position even back in elementary school; as much as he liked the sport, he also wasn’t particularly outstanding at it, and especially not in comparison to Taichi, Sora, or Ken.)
Miyako leaving for Spain seems to have been a recent thing, since it has to actively be brought up in conversation as a reminder (and Daisuke seemed to initially have not taken into account that she wouldn’t be easily able to join the trip in that case, since the issue of the D-3 hadn’t come up yet). When she shows up later in person, everyone’s shocked, as if it’s unnerving for her to be back in Japan already.
Daisuke still seems to have a thing for Hikari, but note that this doesn’t really go beyond “wanting to hang out with Hikari a lot”. Also, he says this in plain view of Takeru without bringing him up at all, and Takeru himself has nothing to say about it (not even awkward laughter), meaning that he really has no object in this whatsoever.
It’s interesting to see that Armadimon, who used to have to ask about how human society works quite often in 02, is now well-versed enough in Japanese culture to be really passionate about it.
As usual, Iori does not mince words (when it's about Nagoya specialty food, at least).
Also as usual, Ken is surprisingly academic about his interests and a huge nerd.
Note Takeru's awkward "I don't really want to insult you, but also, that's weird" reaction to Ken’s speech about the hot springs -- very classic Takeru, not quite being honest for the sake of keeping the peace and awkwardly trying to be nice about it -- in contrast to Daisuke, who just honestly goes straight for the commentary. That said, regardless of how unusual of a hobby everyone around him clearly finds it, note how they all still decide to accommodate it anyway and support his interest in it.
Hypocritically, V-mon calls Daisuke out for being “embarrassing” regarding his fixation on Hikari, only to suddenly get caught off-guard by Tailmon shortly after...
Hikari's behavior has the most clear-cut contrast from herself in 02, consisting of her very assertively stating what she wants, for herself -- very important because her problems in 02 revolved around her compulsively being unable to voice her own thoughts if it meant putting a burden on others. Here, Hikari gets argumentative about what she, personally, wants to do. Given that she doesn’t quite act like this in front of her seniors in the course of the movie, and is depicted as being particularly in-sync with Miyako here -- and given how Miyako was instrumental in reaching out to her during the events of 02 -- it’s pretty easy to see how Hikari became able to assert herself like this.
Similarly, much like how Tailmon was portrayed as lightening up a bit between Adventure and 02 thanks to her new, happier life, here, she seems to be exactly on the same page as Hikari in terms of wanting to fight people for something materialistic.
Hawkmon says that it's "only natural" for them to show up whenever this group is getting together, and, indeed, Miyako was technically uninvited because everyone thought she was busy in Spain -- but was clearly in contact with them (or at least Hikari) to know that this meeting was happening. (There’s probably a group chat.)
This is implied to be the first time the 02 group has seriously considered using D-3 gate exploitation to visit each other and to travel. The group had already made use of this exploitation during 02 itself (to have Palmon delivered to New York back in 02 episode 38 and to meet up in the Digital World), but it is true that they hadn’t been necessarily using it even when it arguably would be more convenient than Tokyo transportation and Imperialdramon. So in other words, for the last eight years, through all the meetups they seem to have been having with each other (and remember, Ken lived in Tamachi, not Odaiba, at the time of 02, and there’s no guarantee that nobody in the Odaiba neighborhood didn’t move at some point), they were perfectly fine with using the inconvenience of Tokyo transportation to meet each other, or to meet up in the Digital World instead -- but then Miyako found herself in another country, and decided that she wasn't going to stand for being separated from the others for too long.
As usual, Hawkmon still has to be Miyako’s concerned minder when she’s on the verge of going out of control.
Miyako had already been implied to be in Barcelona thanks to the scenery outside her window and the movie end credits, but her speech about Spain drives it in even further with the Gaudí references.
Despite Spain being possibly the one of the worst possible options for what's later revealed to be Daisuke's motive for this trip (ramen research), it seems that Miyako baiting him with mention of the soccer league was enough to get him momentarily distracted (and also indicates that Daisuke still clearly has an active interest in soccer even if he may not be regularly playing anymore).
Speaking of which, it’s pretty obvious that Miyako knew exactly what to bait Daisuke with in order to do this.
Takeru, the group's resident moderator, is of course the one to step in and prevent Tailmon and Armadimon from wreaking too much havoc (Daisuke is mostly just slightly intimidated) -- but you might also notice that he's otherwise not saying anything about the group's chaotic antics, and in fact is guilty of enabling them even further...
Daisuke continues to have his penchant for pointing out the elephant in the room -- he's exactly right, how is Wormmon supposed to put on skis?
It is, of course, only natural that Miyako would be sensitive to knowing about currency exchange and the use of American dollars in the Digital World, given that she presumably hasn't forgotten the Digitamamon incident from 02 episode 14.
For the first time in 19 real-life years, we finally learn what Daisuke’s original motive for wanting to get into ramen making was: in true Daisuke fashion, he himself has no idea (but he just really likes ramen).
Daisuke "credits" his friends for giving him insightful advice and helpful resources in thinking about his career and future plans, but, as it turns out, everyone else wasn't thinking nearly as much of it -- either they hardly remember it, or it wasn't actually supposed to mean anything insightful. It's obviously not to say that they're not fully supportive of him (the events of this drama CD blatantly indicate otherwise), but rather that Daisuke attributes everything important and helpful in his life to his friends to ridiculous degrees, even when it's something completely ordinary like a train ticket that anyone should know about.
As always, Daisuke is very realistically aware of his own limitations, admitting freely that he was actually lacking in experience and insight to follow his dream (especially since he took the "advice" from his friends very, very seriously).
Note how quickly everyone changes their tune and immediately decides to unequivocally support Daisuke the moment they realize there's actually a very important reason to him that he wants to go on this trip.
Also note that when Hikari compliments Daisuke, Daisuke is completely at a loss -- yet again, Daisuke's been so busy rolling around for Hikari's approval that he hasn't accounted for what to do when he actually gets it.
Daisuke picking New York, of all locations, as his stop to research ramen certainly explains why Ken has to ask "why ramen?" during the movie itself -- as this drama CD indicates, and as per the events of 02 episode 50, he absolutely knows why Daisuke would want to get ramen, but ramen in New York, which isn't exactly the cultural center of ramen making, is a different story.
The fact that this was a planned multi-day trip also explains why the group changes clothes and is in New York for multiple days over the course of the movie (because they probably had a hotel, too). It also further contextualizes the likely reason Miyako felt like dealing with Menoa’s request was too much work -- she wanted to be on this trip instead -- and says a lot about how she’ll dump a request on her seniors when it’s too much hassle for her, but accept that same request back if it’s something she gets to do with her friends.
Takeru and Hikari are explicitly stated to be scheduled to join the trip on the second day, meaning that them operating separately from the quartet during the events of the movie was sheer scheduling circumstance -- and since we find out in the movie that Takeru was the one to inform Yamato about Daisuke's whereabouts, this CD here clarifies that Takeru has this knowledge because he himself was set to be on this trip (and would have been, if the events of the movie hadn't gotten in the way).
Probably the most interesting take-home from this narrative is how absurdly close the 02 group is portrayed as, and in very, very stark contrast to their seniors in the movie itself -- who are said to be drifting apart as they all find their individual paths. Here, the 02 group is the opposite; while they do seem to have their own goals (Hikari and Daisuke are outright identified as having some of the clearest ones), it’s obvious that those goals are secondary to being able to hang out with and support each other (in other words, they still have those goals, but they’re much lower priorities for them). This is consistent with how these dynamics were portrayed back in 02, since the Adventure group had been portrayed as being prone to drifting apart as early as Our War Game!, whereas the 02 group was built from the ground up as needing each other’s mutual support much more deeply -- it’s just that, now that they’re all much older, this distinction in group dynamic is much more prominent.

To me the relationship between Ted and Opal is the most important and consitent plot point in EXU. On the other hand everything with the Plateau and the Nameless Ones feels like it builds up something for C3. I think that Matt gave plot points about the state of the world (crater, sigil) and Aabria used it as a jumping off point and created the city as her contribution. So as long as things like the memory loss and the crown are dealt with, I feel pretty good about the story of EXU.
So I deleted another ask that was similarly purely speculative and I just want to say that like...I have open DMs/replies and obviously reblogs, and if you want to actually discuss your opinions that is always a better place; the askbox is for questions and suggestions and, well, things that explicitly invite my input, which I'm going to give anyway but it feels like this could have been a reply. Because I wholly disagree with much of this:
The crater is certainly a pre-existing concept because Thordak's presence in Emon happened, but including the sigil seems very odd given that he is a player in the world and it appearing was a surprise plot point in the second episode; I think the general worldbuilding was "Thordak's crater is here and there's weird magic possibly tied to the fire plane should you wish to use that" (emphasis speculative, and mine).
I am probably least interested in Opal and Ted, or at least, I was, but more so now that at least that pulls in whatever the fuck is happening with Syngorn. I think you might be correct that this will be treated as the main plot in terms of resolution; but the reason I think this is that Opal being central came up in the interviews and because of how the last episode ended. If you don't think the plot is the main plot until episode 7 and external press...that's not good.
I like Opal and Ted's relationship! I think it's fun for the character, in the same way I don't necessarily really think we'll get all the details of who Dorian really is - and that is truly tangential to the plot, despite any curiosity we as an audience may have. But compared to the fact that they open the entire story with memory loss at the crater, being approached by someone high-up in the Nameless Ones, a vestige of divergence, and sigil mysteriously appearing? The fact that the details of Ted no longer being in Byroden appear at the halfway point of the series and the Ted and Syngorn plot is primarily in stingers?
Again, at this point, yeah, that might end being the main plot...but just thinking about this, after episode 1 it seemed the main plot would be "okay we're missing a week and a person, we're in deep with the Nameless Ones, and we have a vestige of such profound power that it makes two people ill." After episode 2 it seemed the main plot was "well we can escape those problems and maybe find out more about this sigil that's possibly tied to the crater/memory loss by talking to Gilmore." After episodes 3 and even 4 it seemed it was "okay, we go to these ruins, come back, resolve the rest." But we keep getting balls thrown in the air - further mysteries about Ted, the people from Syngorn, Niirdal-Poc still existing, the journey to the Iron Authority instead of returning home - and none of it has been resolved, and again, I'm enjoying myself, but that is because everything other than the plot is great so I'm treating this like those big-budget artistic sci fi movies where you're like "the aesthetic and worldbuilding and acting and dialogue is all incredible and the plot falls apart if you breathe on it a little too heavily."
I was talking to someone about this recently who made the point that the party seems to have missed a lot of checks early on that might have introduced the Ted and Myr'atta plot back in Emon and honestly? forcing one of those checks or giving it for free would have made a world of difference; I think the party would have made far different choices that in turn would have significantly tightened up the plot. And you don't need to do that, in a long-running campaign, but you really, really do in an 8-episode series.
I do want to speak to people talking about this setting things up for C3 because that was in the anon ask I deleted: I'm not saying it doesn't, necessarily, but I think there is a big difference between "C3 may, understandably, deal with some of the consequences of things that happen in EXU. much as it will deal with consequences of C1 and C2, because it's the same world" and "EXU is explicitly leaving threads for C3".
The former I absolutely agree with; that's how shared worldbuilding works and it was the case with C1 for C2. The latter is, I think, a wildly unfair expectation to place Aabria and a terrible marketing choice for the series and bodes ill for future seasons of EXU.
EXU was very much put forth as having appeal for people who, understandably, don't have the time or inclination to watch a 100+ episode series. I have already seen reviews criticizing it for relying on past information; while I don't agree with this completely, given the difficulties with the plot this does, for example, feel like it may ring true for people who have no emotional connection to Gilmore. A tighter, more Emon-focused plot that happened to include Gilmore to the same extent (or even greater) would probably not have the same criticism, but as is, I think viewers unfamiliar with C1 may legitimately be saying "why did we spend time on this."
EXU can have threads that can be picked up with in C3 - it does not need to, for example, resolve every detail of the Nameless Ones, only the status of this party with regards to Poska - but to say "and to know what happens about the major event, in Emon, which is tied to Thordak, ie, how the series was marketed, which was introduced to the audience long before Myr'atta, you need to watch C3" is something I'd consider a serious misstep. The story in EXU should be somewhat self-contained, with the consequences of that self-contained story fueling the plot; it should not be a collection of plot points for a later day. That's not just going to alienate potential viewers of future seasons who don't intend to watch full CR campaigns; it's kind of a shitty thing to do to your guest DM, to say "oh throw to me, you can DM in my world but you need to set up for my show even if it makes your plot seem more unfocused". EXU can and should be thought of as its own show in the same world, not a mere appendage to the flagship.
I'm still withholding final judgement until it can, you know, be final. I think there's a still a chance I am very pleasantly surprised! As mentioned I and much of the fandom had doubts about the campaign 2 finale to the point that some people were writing, as I referred to it at the time, vivisections and calling them post-mortems. I disliked it then and I disliked it now and I will reserve judgement on EXU's plot structure on the whole until after the finale; I am just saying that while it may end up standing quite well as a complete story in the end, the pacing has felt increasingly off to me since the midway point and if this is just setup for C3 I think that makes it worse, not better.

Suga We’re Going Down
Part 4
Masterlist
Y/N stared at the lawyers. Everything they said went straight over her head though it didn’t seem to bother Yoongi. They were his layers after all. They’d probably already gone over the contract with him in detail, something Y/N did not have the advantage of doing. She just didn’t have the time or the money to hire her own lawyers to look over it.
It felt odd going over a contract for what would essentially be a relationship. It felt clinical, but in a way that was good. She wanted that professional distance. This wasn’t romantic. They weren’t dating. She wanted, needed, that line firmly drawn in the sand. This was not a forever situation.
Thankfully, the lawyers were patient with her, answering all of her hesitant questions, making notes if she wanted something changed. Yoongi seemed to find it cute. Every time the lawyers looked at him to confirm a change, he would nod, the barest hint of a smile pulling at his lips. He was surprisingly gracious about it all. He agreed to every slight change to the contract she wanted to make.
“Now, Mr. Min will be providing a car and driver for your transportation.”
“That really isn’t necessary…”
“It’s non-negotiable.” Yoongi interrupted leveling the lawyers with a hard glare. He wanted her to be safe, and a driver would help with that. It would also provide him with access to her 24/7.
“Of course, Mr. Min.” The lawyer nodded. “There is also the wardrobe budget that Mr. Min will be providing.”
She was about to protest that as well, but Yoongi beat her to it. “Also non-negotiable.”
The lawyer nodded humming in understanding. “And the amount of times per week is alright with the both of you? Three times a week with other meetings interspersed as requested and can be accomodated by Miss Kang given her schedule?”
They both nodded.
“I’m sorry,” She interrupted softly. “It’d like it to be in there that my home is off limits for meetings. I’m willing to meet him wherever he would like, but I’d like to keep my home, well, mine. If that would be alright.” The last bit was added on as a rushed after thought her eyes wide as she looked from Yoongi to the lawyers.
The lawyers looked to Yoongi who nodded. “I’m fine with that.”
“Excellent.” The man smiled making a note on the contract. “There is something else we need to discuss.” Both Y/N and Yoongi turned to look at him attentively. “We need to establish the boundaries of your more… intimate relations.” The man informed them looking vaguely uncomfortable.
Yoongi perked up, but Y/N shrunk back in her seat feeling suddenly very small. She knew they had to discuss it, but that didn’t make it any less awkward for her.
She looked to Yoongi waiting for him to speak, waiting to see what was expected for her.
Just as her eyes were fixed on him, his were fixed on her, assessing, calculating. Of course Yoongi planned to have her in every way, but he needed to know how far he could push her and how quickly. If he went too far too fast, he could lose her entirely. She was a cautious creature. One wrong move on his part and she would bolt.
He had to suppress a grin watching how serious her eyes were, the way her hands trembled slightly. The poor thing. She looked out of her depth. She was, of course, but she would never know just how far out of her depth she was. Yoongi had everything drafted up perfectly. None of her requests interfered with his plans. They were reasonable requests from a reasonable girl. Allowances for school. Keeping her home a safe space. He could let her have her space for now, until she was more comfortable with him. Besides, he planned on spending most of their time together in his own home.
“Nothing weird?” She requested fidgeting uncomfortably and refusing to make eye contact.
“Weird?” He asked quirking a brow curiously.
“Like…” Her tone was unsure and her eyes wide. A blush made its way up her neck and stained her cheeks red as well. “Oh God…I… I honestly don’t know…”
Realization come over Yoongi leaving him stunned for a moment, before a deep sense of satisfaction took its place. She was a virgin. His sweet little muse was untouched just for him as if she couldn’t get any more perfect. No wonder she was so uncomfortable, the poor thing.
She wouldn’t have to be for long though. No one else would ever touch her. He would make sure of that. She was his sweet muse, untouched by the world, and he was going to keep her by his side no matter what. He knew the transition would be a little uncomfortable, but he was willing to help her through that if it meant having her by his side.
“We won’t do anything you’re not comfortable with.” He assured her finding her panic cute.
“But you would be open to a sexual relationship?” One of the lawyers asked, pen held at the ready to make the necessary changed.
“Yes.” She had to hold back her cringe as the word left her. She hoped Halmeoni could forgive her for this. She hoped she could forgive herself.
“Then you would be fine with confirming birth control? Mr. Min is willing to pay for whichever method of contraceptive you choose to use.”
“That’s fine as well.” She murmured too embarrassed to meet anyone’s eye. She felt all of two inches tall. How could everyone else treat this like it was normal? It was all so foreign to her, but hey were completely un-phased.
“Excellent. Could you sign here?” He asked sliding the contract over to her, along with a pen. “That should be it on our end. We’ve already discussed the rules of this arrangement and the payment has already been decided. We should be ready to proceed unless you want to add anything else?”
“No.” She couldn’t help the way her fingers trembled a she reached for the pen, but she signed her name and placed her stamp never the less.
Yoongi signed and stamped after her before turning to face her with a gummy grin.
“I guess it’s official now.”
“I guess so.” Her own smile was much less enthusiastic. It was actually quite weak. She just couldn’t shake the feeling that she’d signed her soul to the devil.
“Let me take you to dinner.” He offered standing from his seat.
She shook her head standing as well. “I can’t. I have other things to do today. Besides, it’s too early for dinner.” She shot him a shaky smile hoping to smooth over her refusal though the deadpan expression on his face wasn’t giving her much hope that she’d succeeded.
“Come on.” He placed a hand on her back and began ushering her out of the room despite her stuttered protests.
“Yoongi.”
“It’s one meal. A celebration of our new contract.” He loved the way her face scrunched up in concern as she thought it over. “We’ll do it eventually. Why not start now?” He shrugged gently placing her coat over her shoulders eyeing it with distaste. “This isn’t the coat I gave you.”
“No. It’s my coat.”
“The one I gave you is warmer.” He didn’t like how thin the coat she had looked, especially not when he had provided her with one of his own, one of his favorites.
“And it’ll be returned to you next time.” She shot back sighing in defeat as he ushered her into the elevator.
“You should keep it. I don’t like how thin that coat of yours looks.”
She huffed under her breath but didn’t argue further. She didn’t want to ruin this before it even started. She needed this money. She’d already spent the money from the first few meetings in her head. A new coat for Eun Jae before the weather got too cold. The first installment on her father’s debt. They needed to fix the stove at the restaurant as well. Not to mention her tuition.
“I’ve already arranged a car for you.” He placed a hand on her back and led her out of the elevator. “It’ll be at your disposal day and night.”
“I really don’t need…” “You do.” He argued glaring down at her gently. “It’s for your protection as well as convenience. Fans can be a little rabid, and I’d prefer to know that you were safe.”
“Only for meetings.” She relented as he led her towards the side entrance of Jin Hit.
“You’ll use it as much as you need to. It’s safer than the bus or the train.”
“You can’t make me take the car.” She shot back eyeing him with concern. A car just seemed like too much for a sugar baby. She hadn’t even done anything yet.
He paused turning to level her with another gentle glare. She knew they could be worse. Nina has showed her enough Agust D videos for her to know just how fierce he could look. He was going easy on her.
“Take the car. Even if you don’t want to use it, I’ll just have Jackson ready to pick you up anyway.” He shrugged. “He’ll just shadow you until you take it.”
She didn’t like the sound of that either. “I’m fine taking the bus.”
“But I’m not.” He looked at her eyes dark and unyielding as they both tried to decide which of them would be the first to yield. “For your safety and my peace of mind.” He grumbled leading her out of the building to the waiting car.
It was a dark SUV with the windows specially tinted for celebrity privacy with a driver waiting outside for them.
“This is Young Jae my driver.” He introduced.
“Ma’am.” The man nodded about to open the door for them, but Yoongi beat him to it. Like a gentlemen he opened the door for her and helped her inside following in right after her.
“Where are we going?” She asked as the car pulled away from Jin Hit.
“Out for an early dinner. I know you probably have studying to do.”
“I do.” She nodded fiddling with the strap of her bag.
“You never told me what you were studying.” That was true enough. He had never asked her, and she had never told him, but he knew anyway.
She looked at him in surprise. She had never thought that he would actually be interested in what she did outside of their arrangement. It wasn’t really in the nature of their relationship for him to care about what she did.
“Elementary Education. I want to be a teacher.”
“It suits you.” He hummed. “What do you do when you’re not studying?”
“I play the cello.” She admitted only a little hesitantly. Music was her passion after all. It was something that they shared, she supposed.
He smiled leaning back against his seat. “Classical?”
He pretended to be surprised. She didn’t know that he had watched her play before. She didn’t know that he knew a lot of things about her. If she knew how much he knew she would probably go running for the hills, not that she could. Not legally at least. He had had his lawyers slip a few surprises into the contract, hidden within the fine print. She was locked into the contract for at least a year. If she broke contract for any reason, she’d be responsible for paying out the contract, and the price was set at far more than she could afford, as well as a few other surprises.
He had his tricks to keep her close. She was a sweet little songbird, but she was skittish, wary of him. She was too sweet for the arrangement she had gotten herself into, but Yoongi was determined to keep her safe. She would always be safe with him.
“Yeah.” She agreed. She did love classical music, but it was fun from time to time to play more modern adaptations. Those were usually easier on the piano though. It was easier to find piano sheet music than cello for pop or rock songs, and she just didn’t have the time to go about transcribing sheet music for the cello, so she stuck to the classics for the most part.
“Never any Agust D?” He asked teasingly.
“Never on the cello.” She agreed.
“Any other instruments?”
“Piano.” She admitted with a smile.
Yoongi loved that smile. It was bright, unguarded. She was talking about something she loved, something he loved. It was as though her entire face lit up, and she seemed to shine from within.
“You’re quite the musician.”
“Not like you.” She pointed out sighing as she leaned back against the seats as well. She was exhausted from the day, and dinner sounded less and less appealing as the minutes passed. She just wanted to go home. She wanted to forget that the day had ever happened, and pretend if only for a moment, that she was still just Y/N and not Agust D’s sugar baby.
“A musician is a musician.” He shrugged. “Doesn’t matter if you play at home or in the arenas.”
They slipped into silence after that.
Dinner was short. She had studying to do, and the urge to see her baby. The day had left her rankled and seeing Eun Jae would help settle her again. So dinner was a light sweet meal where they got to know each other a little more before Yoongi sent her off in a car of her own. It was another dark SUV just like the one they had taken to get to the little restaurant.
“This is Jackson.” He nodded to the man waiting outside the car for her. “He’ll be your driver from now on.”
“Nice to meet you, ma’am.” The tall young man greeted with a respectful bow and a charming smile.
“Please, call me Y/N.” She introduced herself with a small smile of her own.
He nodded shooting her a grin, both of them unaware of the dark look Yoongi was giving them. She was never so at ease with him, but she would be soon with any luck.
“Take good care of her, Wang.” He ordered seeing his own car pulling up ready to take him to the next thing on his schedule for the day. “Take care, Y/N. I’ll be seeing you soon.” He gave her nod though it wasn’t what he wanted to do. He wanted to kiss her. God did he want to kiss her, but she wasn’t ready for that yet. Soon though. Soon.
She got home safe and sound though it was a surprise for Halmeoni to see her there.
The elderly woman looked at her with a sharp eye as she entered the restaurant. “What are you doing here?”
“I just wanted to see Eun Jae. It’s been a rough day.” She answered with a weak smile.
Her grandmother nodded in understanding motioning her head towards the stairs that led up to their home. “He’s upstairs. I’ll make tea.”
She nodded gratefully before practically sprinting up the stairs. She saw Eun Jae sprawled across the floor coloring, and it was like she could breathe again. Everything would be okay. It had to be okay. And even if it wasn’t, she would make it okay, for him.

Guilty Pleasure
[Porn AU]
Summary: Peter and Beck used to be a power couple in the porn industry, but after Beck dumps him, Peter is forced to start over. With no money, no family and nowhere to go, he doesn’t have much choice other than to keep doing porn, so he joins Just4Fans to get back on his feet and then one day he gets a very generous tip from someone under the username of YKWIM.
All the warnings listed on Part I apply.

The last couple of weeks of May flew by, soon June arrived and with it even more sunny days and warmer temperatures. Peter couldn’t help but think that his life fell apart in the winter, and as summer approached, it was slowly getting back on track. He was able to save a decent amount of money every month, his apartment was coming together – he even had a dinner table and chairs by the second week of June –, he was taking on more responsibility at BFF way quicker than expected and he was happier, in general.
He felt comfortable enough to make plans again – with the steady money he was making, he might be able to give up porn in a couple of years and he would still be eligible to apply for some of BFF’s grants and scholarships, meaning he may be able to go to college at 23, after all. Money would be tight for a while, but it was doable. He could always work part-time to supplement his income as well.
Summer also brought some unexpected good news. On a random Thursday morning, he was bombarded with messages on Twitter and Instagram from people asking where they could find his videos now that Beck’s channel was down. He was confused at first, but when he went to check, the channel wasn’t there, it had disappeared from the site.
He gasped. For a total of five seconds, his mind went wild, his heart raced, and his eyes watered. For those five seconds, he felt a mixture of happiness, relief and confusion, knowing those videos weren’t out there anymore, couldn’t be found, couldn’t be seen, couldn’t be remembered. But it was only for five blissful seconds. When his brain turned back on and the first rush of excitement died down, he realized that probably wouldn’t last.
That had happened before, when they first started posting. People mass reported the videos and the channel until they got taken down, because Peter looked very young at eighteen. They had to send a picture of his ID to the website for check several times, it was months before it stopped happening once and for all. Peter assumed Beck was posting videos of his new boyfriend, who he knew looked very young, so it was probably just a misunderstanding and only a matter of time until he got the channel – and the videos – back up.
Still, he allowed himself to count that as a win and couldn’t help but feeling giddy all day, to the point where everybody noticed his good mood – Ned, MJ, people at BFF and Tony.
Tony, who didn’t disappear. As days and nights and weeks went by, Peter stopped waiting for it to happen.
“Someone is awfully cheery today.” The older man grinned at him from the driver’s side that night, as Peter sang along to Ed Sheeran, because it was his turn to choose the playlist. Tony had picked him up from BFF and they were heading to his place for a quiet night in.
“It’s a good day, Tony.” He shot back after the chorus of Put it All on Me and the older man beamed, the corners of his eyes crinkling up.
“It sure is, kitten.” He turned up the volume and Peter sang even louder, causing Tony to burst out laughing.
At some point, he realized life was a little less complicated than he gave it credit for. He realized that if he actually gave things the precise amount of thought they deserved, not everything felt like the end of the world. The minute he decided to just let things happen the way they were supposed to happen, without overthinking every detail, life got so much easier.
He decided not to make the thing with Tony a big deal. Sure, when he thought about it for more than two minutes, it seemed like a huge fucking deal, he was basically dating Tony Stark, one of the richest men in the world, Iron Man himself, the man who had literately saved half the universe from extinction not even two years earlier. So, yes, that seemed like a big fucking deal, but–
But.
To him, he was just Tony. This charming guy who texted him daily to ask about his day and crack acid jokes about his business associates. This kind guy who sent him chocolates when he was feeling down and cooked him dinner every weekend and made sure to e-mail him easy and healthy recipes so he wouldn’t starve to death. This gentle guy who called him beautiful and touched him with such care that he forgot how many hands had left bruises on his skin before.
When he forgot everything Tony was supposed to be and just focused on everything that he was to him, what they had seemed so simple and pure.
He stopped worrying about labels, too. In the beginning, he kept stressing about what they had, what was expected of him, what he expected of Tony, but eventually, he decided none of that mattered. They made each other feel good, they made each other happy, they made each other better, all in all, whatever label he could put on their relationship wouldn’t make any difference, so he let it go.
Weeks later, Peter heard Beck had managed to get the channel back up, only for it to get taken down again in a few hours, then his Instagram and Twitter also disappeared. He wasn’t too surprised, and if he was honest with himself, it was fun imagining Beck losing his mind as he tried to fix it. After all, every day the channel was down, he was losing money. And his social media, specially his Twitter account, was where he promoted his content to thousands of followers, so losing that meant losing money as well, and if there was one thing Peter knew Beck loved, it was money.
He wondered what the fuck the man had done to piss people off like that, it was clearly a coordinated attack, but he wasn’t curious enough to try and find out what happened. He would rather watch from a distance, rejoicing in the satisfaction it gave him to imagine that maybe, just maybe, one of those days Beck wouldn’t be able to get the channel back up and would have to start from scratch, like Peter did. And maybe then he wouldn’t re-upload his videos – that part was a little harder to believe, but who knew, stranger things had happened.
When June came to an end, Peter was surprised with a notification from Tony on Just4Fans. He had almost forgot the man was still subscribed to his account there, they obviously never chatted on the app anymore, and when he opened the notification, his blood ran cold in his veins.
It was a tip.
A hundred thousand dollars tip.
He couldn’t fucking believe it. A tip? For what, a job well done? It wasn’t like Peter was – what did that even mean? Was Tony trying to say something with that, send some kind of message?
He decided not to call him right away, he was too – upset. The older man was picking him up later that evening for dinner, so he decided to wait. Whatever he had to say to him, he wanted to hear it in person. He wanted him to look in his eyes and tell him he thought he was his fucking wh–
“What is the meaning of this?” He asked as soon he got in his car, avoiding the kiss that came his way. Tony blinked in surprise, trying to understand why he got a phone shoved in his face instead of a kiss, and then he finally saw what that was all about.
“Oh, that–“ But before he could answer anything, Peter interrupted.
“I told you I’m not – Tony, why would you – this is so insulting!” He was honestly at a loss for words. They had been seeing each other for almost two months by then, things were going great, they met every week, they made apple pie together, for God’s sake, had he misunderstood all the signs?
“My God, Peter, that’s not that, I just thought – I mean, I’m a billionaire, you know this is pocket change for me, right?” Peter gasped, shocked, and Tony’s eyes widened when he fumbled with the door handle. “Wait! I didn’t mean – Jesus, okay, hold on a second, please!” Tony reached over him to shut the door before Peter could get out of the car. The young man turned to look at him with tears in his eyes and Tony looked incredulous when he leaned back and ran a hand through his hair. “Don’t just assume the worst, have I given you any reason for that?” He sounded hurt, which made Peter gulp. He took a few calming breaths and shook his head slowly.
“No,” he whispered, dropping his gaze.
“Ok, good.” He actually sounded relieved at that. “I am a billionaire, Peter, and this is pocket change for me, which means –“ he raised his voice a little, predicting a reaction from him that didn’t come, “I didn’t realize this would be such a big deal. For me, it’s like giving you, I don’t know, flowers. I didn’t mean this as a payment for whatever you think this is, I just thought this would be a good help. You’re starting your life now, you have that list of yours that you don’t let me see, you’re saving up money, you have your plans for college, I just meant to help. I mean, if we weren’t together, I would have tipped you every month, so I thought –“
“But we are together, Tony, I –“ he was a little calmer then, because that was, in fact, a reasonable explanation and he shouldn’t have jumped to conclusions. “Look, I appreciate the gesture, but next time you mean to give me flowers, just give me flowers! I believe you have the best intentions at heart, but it’s just weird for me. I don’t want this to be about money. I just – don’t want that, okay?”
He gazed at the older man as he gaped at him, mouth opening and closing, but no sound came out for a while.
“I just thought – I mean, people usually –“ It was unusual to see Tony speechless like that, but the man shook his head and looked back at him, almost embarrassed. “I just want to help you.”
“Are you kidding me?” Peter poked him in the arm, trying to lighten up the mood in the car. “You’re teaching me how to cook. Yesterday I made an omelet and I only burned one side, I’m getting good at this. That’s a big help.”
Tony didn’t laugh at his joke, like he usually did, he just gazed at him with an unreadable expression, before leaning in to kiss him, which Peter gladly reciprocated.
“I’m sorry I made you uncomfortable,” he whispered, then, resting his forehead against his.
“And I’m sorry I was rude. It won’t happen again,” he promised, and he meant it.
After that night, he removed Tony from his Just4Fans, which came as a blow to the older man, who pouted and whined for about a week, only stopping when Peter showed up at his place one Saturday wearing Iron Man lingerie under his clothes – it was supposed to be a joke, but it worked surprisingly well for Tony.
By July, it became impossible to keep sneaking around Ned and MJ, as the dates became more frequent. Peter decided to tell them that he had met someone online and that they were getting to know each other. He told them it was nothing serious yet and if it became serious, they would meet him.
He did have to throw in a few lies to get them off his back – he definitely had to lie about Tony’s age to avoid certain comparisons, but he would cross that bridge when he got to it, if he ever got to it. He wasn’t sure if or when he was going to tell them the whole truth, but for the time being, he felt more comfortable keeping that relationship to himself.
He and Tony didn’t go out much, but when they did, it was always to fancy and discreet restaurants with private rooms; Tony was, after all, a celebrity for all intents and purposes, and at if the press got a whiff of them there would be no secret left to keep.
But staying in with Tony was far from boring. They cooked together and the older man taught him all of his grandmother’s secret recipes – Peter could never replicate them by himself at home, but it was still fun trying. They spent almost all of their time down in the workshop, though, where Tony had him do menial tasks, like screwing bolts or reaching for a part inside an Iron Man suit. He said his tiny hands were useful for his projects.
He knew he wasn’t really that useful, but he loved when Tony included him and asked for his help, even though he didn’t really need it. He was fascinated by everything the older man taught him in those moments and in turn Tony always looked proud and pleased when Peter put his lessons to use.
He didn’t mind keeping him company when Tony was focused on projects he couldn’t help with, he stayed there anyway, reading a book or watching TV on the tiny couch – Tony kept saying he was going to get a bigger one, but he didn’t believe it, he knew the older man enjoyed the fact that the only way they could fit comfortably on it was if Peter was lying half on top of him.
So after several weeks, they established a little routine of their own. Since Tony had a busy schedule and Peter was still trying to keep Ned and MJ somewhat in the dark, they didn’t meet that often on week days, but they always talked on the phone before bed. On Thursdays, Tony picked him up after his shift at BFF and he spent the night at his place. They had breakfast together on Fridays and then they met again every Saturday after lunch, and finally Tony dropped him back off home every Sunday evening, so he could have dinner with his friends.
In August, for the first time in his life, Peter had two birthday celebrations. One with his friends, when the three of them went bar-hopping and he got home so hammered he had absolutely no idea how they managed to climb the stairs, and another with Tony, when he decorated the workshop with balloons and put party hats on Dum-E and U.
“Surprise!” He yelled lamely, throwing confetti at Peter when they stepped into the workshop. The younger man laughed, delighted, as Tony hurried to the kitchenette and came back with something in his hands. “I know it doesn’t look good, but I promise it tastes good. Probably.” When Peter looked down, he noticed it was a large chocolate cake with ‘Happy Birthday, kitten’ written on it in bright pink icing. It looked so ugly, but it was so beautiful at the same time. “What did I do now?” Tony frowned, face falling.
He blinked a few times and when he touched his cheeks, he realized he was crying.
“I’m sorry, I’m just – really happy.” He grinned, pulling the older man’s face to give him a kiss. “Thank you.”
It was late October when Tony told him he had to go on a trip to China for two weeks, and even though it wasn’t his first work trip since they started dating, five months earlier, it would be by far the longest one since then, so it was kind of a big deal. Still, he didn’t expect to feel so affected, but on the days leading up to it he was so upset he couldn’t hide it.
They spent their last Sunday together wrapped up in each other doing absolutely nothing. They slept in, Tony brought Peter breakfast in bed, which was rewarded with a lazy and sloppy blow job, and they spent all day in bed, only getting up for essentials, like food and water. They didn’t even turn on the TV, they didn’t even talk much. They just held each other and exchanged slow, tender kisses until their bodies were too warm to stay under the sheets.
Tony ran a bath for them and got in the tub – it was big enough for eight people, but Peter made a point to sit in his lap, clinging to him like a koala. He felt Tony’s arms encircle him gently, as he rested his chin on top of his head.
“I’ll be home before you even have time to miss me, kitten.” He whispered, and those were the first words either of them had said in at least a few hours.
Peter didn’t tell him that was impossible since he already missed him, instead he just held him even tighter.
After the bath water went cold, they climbed out of the tub and Tony insisted on drying him, before dressing him in one of his own T-shirts, even though Peter had a multitude of spare clothes in his closet. He sat in bed, watching Tony pack a huge suitcase that reminded him just how long he would be gone for. He sulked a little – just a little – and that earned him a little kiss on his forehead, which was enough to undo the frown between his brows.
Finally, in the evening, Tony parked his car in front of Peter’s building, turning to look at him with an almost pained smile, before leaning in for a kiss.
“I’m gonna miss you,” Peter whispered against his mouth and felt when Tony’s lips stretched into a small smile. He pulled away a little, just enough to look into his eyes, and cupped his chin in his hand.
“I’ll miss you too, but I won’t be long, ok? It’s just a few days.” He pecked Peter’s lips one more time for good measure and the younger man nodded.
“Call me if you have time.”
“Of course, kitten, every day.” He leaned in for another kiss, this one longer than the previous, and Peter’s heart fluttered. He took a deep breath and slowly let it out, containing the urge to say those three words that had been trapped in the back of his throat for weeks.
“Have a safe trip. Let me know when you land.”
“I will, baby.”
Peter got out of the car and waved, watching as it disappeared down the street. He sighed and his heart ached, he already missed Tony and it had only been a few seconds, how was he going to survive fifteen whole days? It seemed impossible. It was crazy to think how far they had come since March, when they talked for the first time. It seemed like a lifetime ago.
He turned to go inside, but froze in place when he heard a familiar voice.
“So that’s why you’ve been ignoring me, huh? How rude.” He turned slowly to the left, only to be met with Beck’s cocky, arrogant smile, just a few feet away from him. “I tried calling, I tried texting, you’ve blocked me everywhere, I can’t even e-mail you anymore, it appears.” Beck walked slowly and leaned against the rails of the stairs to Peter’s building and the younger man curled his hands in fists, trying to control the urge to just run. “Long time no see, Petey-pie.”
He was paralyzed, muscles rigid, but to his own surprise, it wasn’t fear that he felt, or sadness. It was pure anger.
“I wonder why,” he answered quietly, but firmly. Beck’s eyebrows shot up to his hairline, before the smile was back in place. “How did you find me?” He demanded, because Beck had never cared to ask where Peter was going to stay after he kicked him out, so how in the hell would he know where to find him?
“Wasn’t easy, I have been following you on Instagram, some of your morning run routes seemed familiar, so I–”
“You stalked me?” He frowned, taking a step closer to the other man, who looked at Peter with indignation and hurt. He shook his head, softened those baby blue eyes and placed one hand over his chest, right above where his heart would have been if he had one.
“I just wanted to see you, is all.” He shrugged, dropping his gaze to stare at his own feet, and Peter wanted to roll his eyes. It was so weird watching his whole act now that the spell had been lifted.
“What do you want?” He asked, making the older man’s head snap back up, a little surprised by his cold tone.
“I just told you, I wanted to see you. I missed you.” He took a few steps towards Peter, who in turn walked backwards to keep his distance
“You missed me?” He scoffed, shaking his head. “Where’s your new boy-toy, you put him away so you could come play with me?” He cocked his head to the side and, for a moment, he could see the shock crossing his features.
“Pete… Why are you acting like this, it’s like I don’t even know you anymore...” His voice broke and he looked away, pretending to wipe away a tear. He wondered how the hell he used to fall for that.
“You don’t, Quentin. I’m not a lost little boy anymore, you should go back to your boyfriend. Or is he smarter than me and dumped you already? Is that what this is all about?” He narrowed his eyes, crossing his arms over his chest, and Beck’s mouth hung open like he couldn’t believe his words.
“I made a mistake, Pete. After so many years, I took you for granted, I couldn’t see what I saw the first time I met you. I couldn’t see how beautiful you were, how caring and loving you were, how loyal and reliable and – I don’t know, I was blind. I was so stupid, I shouldn’t have left you.” His eyes were wide, earnest, shining with unshed tears. His face was open, even his body language screamed honesty. Suddenly, he didn’t feel so bad about falling for his act – Beck was good. “Don’t you miss me, baby? Don’t you miss us?”
Peter snorted, shaking his head, he couldn’t believe the nerve of that man.
“You made a mistake, huh? So you dumped your new boy, right? If I were to go home with you right now, he wouldn’t be there, waiting for you, like a fucking plan B, in case this doesn’t go your way. Right?” It was his turn to take a few steps towards the older man. “Like I was your plan B while you waited for him to turn 18?”
“Peter, c’mon–“
“Is he there, Beck? Just answer me that. Come on, if he’s not, I’ll take you back right now, we can go home together.” He insisted, looking into the older man’s eyes, but he didn’t say anything, he just sighed. “Of course he is. If I said yes, what would you do? Tell him to pack his things in the middle of the night and leave? Would you keep all the money he’s made you and tell him to fuck off? Would you leave him broke and lonely and fucking lost in this world? Would you tell him that he wasn’t good enough and dispose of him like he’s fucking garbage?” His voice grew louder and louder, and when he came to himself, he noticed he was in Beck’s face, their chests almost touching, so he took a step back. “So to answer your question, Quentin, no, I don’t fucking miss you. You fucking ruined me!”
“I saved you!” And just like that, the good guy act was gone. His whole demeanor changed, the soft baby blues widened, his mouth was set in a sneer, he puffed out his chest to intimidate him, but Peter stood his ground. “Don’t pretend you don’t remember who you were before me. You were a fucking loser! An orphan, no family, no friends, no future! I took you in, I took care of you, I gave you a profession – don’t fucking roll your eyes, what the fuck are you doing now, huh? Rocket science? ‘Cause it seems to me like you’re still doing porn, and now you’re clearly branching out into prostitution, would you look at that!”
“You have no idea what the fuck you’re talking about!” He placed his hands on the man’s chest and pushed him away when he got too fucking close for comfort. He held his breath when he realized what he had done, afraid of the man’s reaction, but he just kept his distance.
“You know what? Fuck you, Peter. I was wrong about you, I thought I knew who you were, I thought I missed you, but you’re just a disgusting fucking whore, after all. You’re a dirty little bitch in heat who likes to get this loose hole of yours fucked by old perverts, I don’t know why I’m surprised, I mean, that’s why I dumped you, you were enjoying those videos a little bit too much for my taste. You weren’t even satisfied with two cocks up your ass, one in your mouth and a line of men waiting to fuck you. You disgust me.” He started walking away, and Peter wanted to say something, he wanted to yell at him and defend himself, he wanted to tell him he didn’t fucking enjoy it, he wanted to tell him that it was all his fault, he threw him to the lions, he let those men fucking–
Fuck!
He rushed inside the building and ran upstairs, eyes clouded with tears. He tripped and fell knees first on the steps, but he didn’t even feel pain, he just got up and kept going, kept running, trying to put as much distance between him and Beck as he could, even though it was irrational. Beck was gone, he walked away, he left him, he left him again, he wasn’t coming back–
“Ned?!” He knocked urgently on his friends’ door. He didn’t have his spare key, it was upstairs in his own apartment, but he couldn’t trust himself to go all the way up there and down again without having a full on panic attack. “MJ?! Are you guys home?!” He was really trying not to sound too desperate, he didn’t want to scare them, but it was hard controlling his emotions when his heart was hammering against his chest and he couldn’t fucking breathe.
“Peter?” It was MJ who yanked the door open. She had a towel wrapped around her torso, her hair was wet, and Peter felt guilty, but she took one look at him and quickly pulled him into a hug. “My God, Peter...” She whispered into his hair when he started sobbing uncontrollably on her naked shoulder. “Come on in, c’mon.” He heard the door closing behind him, but he didn’t let go of her, he felt like if he did, he wouldn’t be able to hold himself together.
He wanted to tell her not to worry, that she should go finish her shower and change, but he really, really needed her right then. She sat down on the couch, pulling him with her and he promptly laid down, burying his face in her legs. He couldn’t stop crying and sobbing and no matter how many times she asked him what was wrong, sounding increasingly more worried, he couldn’t get his feelings under control enough to give her any answer.
He was there for what felt like hours, when at some point someone lifted him from MJ’s lap and enveloped him in such a tight hug he couldn’t breath for a second, but he sighed in relief, it was right what he needed. Ned’s arms felt like home, it calmed him down almost instantly – his voice whispering that it was fine, everything was going to be okay helped a lot, too.
“I hate him, I hate him so fucking much,” he mumbled into his shoulder, God knew how much time later, and his friend just hummed, patting his back. “I hate that he made a mess of me and I let him.” He couldn’t hold back more tears when he said that, because it was true, it was so fucking true. He let Beck do whatever he wanted to him, he let him ruin his dreams, his future, his fucking personality, until he was nothing but a shell of what he used to be.
“I know, Peter, I know,” Ned soothed him, rubbing his back, even though he probably had no idea what he was talking about. “It’s okay now. You’re okay. It’s over”
“I made tea.” MJ’s quiet voice sounded somewhere from his right and when he turned to look at her, she was already dressed, wet hair up in a bun, with a mug in her hands, which she extended to him. He accepted it but didn’t dare to take a sip, he was positive that if he did, he would throw up, his stomach was all kinds of fucked up at that moment. “Peter, what happened? Did Star – uh, did your boyfriend do something? Did he hurt? ‘Cause I swear to God–” Just the mention of Tony being the cause of his distress made him sick, so he cut her off.
“Beck was here.” He sniffed, looking at the mug to avoid their eyes when he heard both of them gasping.
“Beck? Beck was here? Fucking Beck?” MJ screeched and he nodded.
“He was waiting for me outside.” He rubbed his eyes and took a deep breath, trying to gather enough energy to have that conversation.
“What did he want?” Ned asked calmly, while MJ paced the floor, furious.
“I don’t know...” He shrugged, wrecking his brain to try and figure out what his motive was. “His channel got taken down a few weeks ago and he couldn’t get it back up. I heard he had to start over.” He hadn’t been watching that closely, but he knew something was wrong, even his Twitter and Instagram accounts kept getting taken down almost monthly, it was impossible he was making any money over the past few months. “He said he wanted to get back together, probably because he thinks us making up would be a big hit or whatever. I said no, of course. He didn’t like the answer.”
“Did he hurt you?!” MJ strode back to him until she was standing right in front of him, looking into his eyes. He was almost intimidated by her.
“No, he just… Said some pretty shitty things, is all,” he answered sheepishly, because he hated that that man could still make a mess of him with just a few hurtful words.
“Oh, dude. He’s just mad he’s lost control over you. Whatever he said, he just wanted to hurt you, it doesn’t mean anything.” Ned placed an arm around his shoulders, pulling him closer, and Peter rested his head against his, sighing.
“I know. He was always like that, you know,” he whispered, as flashes of memories crossed his mind. “When I didn’t bend to his wishes, when I didn’t do things his way, he fucking–“ He squeezed his eyes shut, furious, because he had fallen for that again. “He tries to charm me and when it doesn’t work, he attacks me. But the thing is, he really knows what to say to destroy me. It just sucks. But it’s fine. I just need a moment, I’ll be fine.” He sat up straight and looked both of his friends in the eyes.
“Yes, you will. You most certainly will.” Ned patted his shoulder one last time, getting up from the couch. “Why don’t you lie down for a second, huh? I’m making dinner, I’ll even try one of those recipes your mystery boyfriend taught you.” Just the mention of Tony made him breathe a little easier, even though he wouldn’t be able to see him for a while.
“Okay.” He nodded, smiling softly. MJ took Ned’s place on the couch and he lay down, placing his head on her legs, as she ran her fingers through his hair. He sighed contently and closed his eyes, feeling exhausted. He was close to drifting off when he heard Ned gasp.
“Oh my God,” He breathed quietly from the kitchen and both Peter and MJ looked at him curiously from over the back of the couch.
“What?” She didn’t look too worried, but Peter was concerned about how pale he was.
“Ned, what’s wrong?” He frowned, watching Ned’s horrified expression looking at his phone like it was a murder scene. He raised his eyes and gulped.
“Peter is trending on Twitter,” he whispered, after a while.
“What?!” They both hurried over to the kitchen counter, and the first thing Peter saw when he looked at his phone was a picture of him and Tony in his car, kissing. As Ned scrolled down, more pictures showed up, but not only that, clips of his old videos were all over Twitter, people knew his full name, his real name, and they were making all sorts of comments. Iron Man, Tony Stark, Peter Parker, sex worker, prostitute and porn were trending.
The room was completely silent for a whole minute, before MJ turned on the TV.
“… appear that Tony Stark, former CEO of Stark Industries and retired Avenger, was seen kissing a young man in his car earlier this evening. The person in the pictures seems to be one Peter Parker, a twenty-one year old porn actor, who is also said to work as a prostitute…”
Peter’s heart sank to the bottom of his stomach, his vision blurred and he felt bile rising in his throat. He took a deep breath and got up from the couch, ears ringing, as he rushed to the front door. He heard his friends yelling something, but he couldn’t make out their words, and he just couldn’t deal with all that right then and there.
“I, uhm, I gotta go,” he called from over his shoulder, slamming the door shut on his way out.
As he ran upstairs, vision blurred by tears and chest hurting, begging for oxygen, he couldn’t help but remember his life fell apart in the winter. And fall would be over soon.

So... It appears that someone has lost the ability to write short chapters...
Anyways, only three more chapters to go! 🥳

I genuinely loved Seun Gyeom struggling to write his little diary and I thought it was very telling in every scene.
There’s many interesting little details around it, including that he didn’t shy away when Mi Joo was present at any time, but loudly, childishly proclaimed his friend shouldn’t read it. It reveals the trust he has in her, same as with how he handed over her phone - even if he may not believe there’s just anything for anyone to really hide on it.
In fact, if one thinks about it, it’s possible that in a possessive, controlling household like his, his father felt entitled to keep an eye on his phone, especially when he was still minor.
Because it doesn’t seem that he is very familiar with concept of private. Or even being fully honest with himself. Before conversation with Mi Joo, there’s this instilled sense of needing to conceal himself, as if there was someone to impress, he couldn’t admit being scared last night, not even to himself in his private diary.
He is so happy to have ‘learned’ how to write it, his face is so open and silly and I could cry over it, honestly.
But back to matter at hand, Mi Joo accuses him of putting up walls which he can’t quite comprehend. Like @kd729 said here, he just doesn’t know how to be open about some things, to be honest with himself about it, even, or that he isn’t doing that. It’s not a privilege he’s had before. It’s a request he doesn’t know how to grant, because it’s not the sort he’s used to.
Plus, emotional decisions just aren’t something he’s ever had to share with anyone. They were either decided for him (like shoulder injury and the surgery) or he had to make on his own, like choosing to be a runner, beating the bullies up and so forth. There’s no one he’s had to or could rely on in these, which is why he says he didn’t know she’d care so much, but by doing so, he effectively locks Mi Joo out of his life and inner world, because these decisions of leaving for the night or the house deeply impact her as well, which he can’t really recognize because he doesn’t think it matters to her, on emotional level especially. (None of his other decisions mattered to people around him this way, only how they benefited or bothered them.)
But back to Seun Gyeom and vulnerability and expressing himself.
While he does open to her in quite many ways, such as explaining why he did what he did for Woo Sik (that we see him do for no one else in such depth or nuance), he’s never learned to show his caring through words because he’s never had the example to learn from. He makes an attempt, but does it all backwardly, as if he’s granting her request.
His friend likely doesn’t quite know how important he is to Seun Gyeom because he showed his affection through following him around and being his quiet fan in a sense. He shows his care through actions, by preparing food or distracting the ladies or buying her shoes or coming to clean windows with Woo Sik, not starting the race (the moment words are involved, he asks for Mi Joo’s help) or patrolling the area to make sure it’s safe and so on.
No one around Seun Gyeom is good at saying ‘I like you, you are important to me’, his sister would sign up for the deal instead of saying that and writes it off as something to do for her sibling, his mother stays quiet as support for his choices, his coach would feed him or ruffle his hair, but call him an asshole. His friend grumbles at him more than anything, even if Seun Gyeom knows he cares, but one of their phone calls ended badly and it was ‘made up for’ by going out of his way to meet up. Even Woo Sik is grateful, but calls his behavior annoying and ends up with small machinations to take care of him and Mi Joo. Dan Ah would rather make Mi Joo jealous to get her invite Seun Gyeom over than say ‘I am worried’.
And the girls that would show interest in him and possibly say it vocally usually leave him behind after a month. Because he is boring and bland, and weird and annoying.
Part of him probably believes he himself just isn’t lovable. He was never good enough for his father (or his mother). His handsome face and money is attractive, but the rest is too dull to like long term. The insecurity he shows by asking if she’s stopped liking him runs deep. Her somewhat frantic reactions toward him don’t exactly help either. (I really appreciate that Mi Joo went back to say she didn’t hate him. Even when she’s upset, she instinctively understands what are the underwater rocks he might conjure in her words.)
He does learn, though, gradually. When Mi Joo says he shouldn’t worry and rest up, he immediately reciprocates and tells her the same. He is also happy to mirror her words from Jeju island. She has given him easy examples to follow and he gladly does so. He also speaks more with Woo Sik about taking care and doing it together, etc.
Anyway, this got way too long because I mashed two separate ideas together but TL;DR is that the diary was perfect way to show him struggling with being honest about his deepest vulnerabilities and how eager, if still scared, he is to learn.

It’s Just a Little Crush (au / 2.2k words)
Prompt 7 from my ‘30 Destiel Prompts’ for @starclaire
ao3 link
“Okay guys, we got a little time to kill before the bell so talk amongst yourselves. But keep it quiet.” Dean warns.
It’s an ordinary Tuesday morning in Dean’s home room class. He’s got a good bunch this year - a few interesting personalities for sure.
“Mr Winchester?”
Ah, speaking of interesting personalities.
“Yes, Krissy?” He looks up from the lesson plan he’d put together for his sophomore class first period. He frowns when he sees the eyes of all twenty-something kids staring back at him. “What’s going on?”
Nothing would surprise him anymore. He may have only been teaching at this particular school for a couple of years but he’d been an auto shop teacher for going on ten. He’d seen everything. And that’s why he knew having his entire home room look at him, like his kids currently were, wasn’t always a good thing.
“What’s the deal with you and Mr Novak?” She smirks.
Mr Novak, Castiel, is head of the history department. He’d started at the school about a year before Dean. He’s a little dorky and doesn’t always get people’s jokes or references but Dean knows the kids love him. He’s had many auto shop classes that begin with students telling him all about the ‘totally awesome’ history lesson they’d just had with Mr Novak.
Dean pretends not to understand the implication in Krissy’s question. “What do you mean?”
But Krissy isn’t letting it go. “It’s just that we’ve all noticed that you get into the same car with Mr Novak every day after school.” She shrugs, feigning innocence as if her words aren’t peppered with sly suggestions. “And we all know it’s your car because you never stop going on about it even though it’s old as hell and no one, except old men, drive cars like that anymore.”
Dean tries not to be offended on behalf of his baby. He wasn’t going to argue with a teenager about the merits of a well-kept classic vintage car. Not again anyway.
“It ain’t any of your business, Krissy, but Mr Novak doesn’t have a car so I drive him home.” Dean explains. “Happy?”
Krissy seems to relent, realising she’s not going to get a rise out of her teacher today.
“Nah,” comes a voice from the back row. “I reckon there’s more to it than that.”
The class shuffles around to reveal Claire Novak smirking back at the teacher. She has a mischievous look in her eyes that Dean doesn’t like. She has the rest of the students intrigued though.
Claire’s sly look only gets bigger as she begins to speak again. “I think they’re secretly dating,” she says, never taking her eyes off Dean, watching for his reaction.
Dean sighs. Where is that damn bell?
“No, Claire, me and Mr Novak are not dating,” he denies. “And you of all people should know that.”
Claire is Castiel’s niece. Her dad is Castiel’s twin brother, Jimmy. Jimmy came to school to pick Claire up once and it weirded everyone out seeing the exact replica of their favourite teacher stood right next to the man himself.
“Okay, fine,” Claire relents, “but you like him, right?”
Dean is saved from answering by the bell finally ringing.
* * *
Dean was foolish to hope that the details of the interrogation he’d received would stay in home room.
By third period, he’d heard students from each of his classes whisper as they were meant to be working. He couldn’t make out everything they were saying but he kept hearing the words ‘crush’ and ‘Mr Novak’ in the same sentence.
Crush? Dean is a grown man. He hasn’t had a crush since he met his first boyfriend when he was sixteen.
He takes a deep breath. It’ll blow over soon.
* * *
It does not blow over.
A week later and everyone is still talking about. Even some of the other teachers have been giving Dean knowing looks every time he’s sat next to Castiel in the teacher’s lounge. Though, Cas seems to remain none the wiser.
By the end of the day, Dean is glad to see his baby. He couldn’t wait to get home and be distracted from the rumours of his feelings for his fellow teacher.
As usual, Castiel joins him for the journey. Luckily, none of their students seem to be around when they get into the car.
Once they leave the school parking lot, Dean breathes a sigh of relief. He can just be himself now, and not worry about what other people are thinking.
The two men sit in silence for a few moments. Dean’s eyes are on the road ahead. Driving always calms him.
“Dean, can I ask you something?”
“Think you just did, Cas,” Dean smirks, not taking his eyes from the road.
“You’re hilarious,” Castiel replies. Dean sees him roll his eyes from the corner of his own. His smirk just gets bigger.
“I’ve been hearing some things around school recently,” Cas says, his voice changing to a more serious tone. “And, I just wanted to ask. Do you have a crush on me?”
It’s silent in the car for a few moments until Dean is the first to crack.
He lets out a loud bark of laughter. “I can’t believe you managed to say that with a straight face.” He chuckles, shaking his head in amusement.
The car pulls into the driveway of a modest two-storey house. Dean cuts the engine and turns to Cas.
The other man is quietly laughing too. He looks quite amused with himself. He is honestly such a dork, Dean thinks.
But then his face turns serious again. “You didn’t answer my question. Do you have a crush on me?” He asks again.
Dean thinks for a minute, taking in the man sitting in front of him. “Do I have a crush on my best friend, and husband of thirteen years? Yeah, I guess I do.”
Dean gives Cas a teasing smile and leans across the passenger seat to bring his husband into a smiling kiss.
* * *
Later that evening, Dean and Castiel are laying together in their bed. Only a lamp on the nightstand lights the room, letting out a relaxing glow.
Castiel reaches out to let Dean cuddle up to him. Dean rests his head on Castiel’s chest. He plays with the fingers on Castiel’s left hand. Castiel lets him and goes with the movement when Dean turns his hand over to reveal the small ‘18’ tattooed on the underside of his ring finger.
They’d met on September 18th in their junior year of high school. From that day, Castiel had been Dean’s first and only crush.
Castiel and Jimmy had just transferred from their old school. It was some old-fashioned super religious school but some bad shit had gone down and the school had to close. Dean’s school had been the next best thing according to Castiel's overbearing, church-going, Jesus devotee parents.
Dean and Castiel became inseparable by the time it came for them to graduate. By then, everyone knew they were together but they didn’t care. The honeymoon phase never seemed to end for them.
For obvious reasons, Castiel’s parents were the only ones who had never found out about their relationship. Given what they thought about anyone who wasn’t straight, the boys thought it was safer to keep it from them. They didn’t know what they might try to do to Castiel if they found out.
The day after their graduation, Dean had packed up his car and they ran away. They went to college in another state and never looked back. Castiel had left his parents a note explaining everything and telling them not to try and contact him - though Castiel didn’t think they’d want to after they’d found out he was gay.
Dean’s family knew where they’d gone (they’d always been supportive of their relationship since the beginning). They welcomed Castiel into their family and treated him like their own. They’d visit the boys for the holidays and eventually, once Dean’s brother, Sam, finished high school, they all moved to be closer to their boys.
Castiel had felt guilty for years for leaving his brother but in their second year of college, Jimmy tracked Castiel down and told him he’d left too. (Turns out he’d got his high school girlfriend, Amelia, pregnant and their parents didn’t take kindly to it happening out of wedlock.)
Dean and Castiel got married while they were still in college. Most people would warn them against getting married so young but their family knew they weren’t being naive. They were it for each other.
They had a small ceremony on the anniversary of their first meeting. Sam and Jimmy had been best men and two-year-old Claire was their flower girl. (Despite what her attitude now might make you think, she was an adorable toddler who stole the show with her adorable presence.)
Over the years, they’d kept their marriage on the down low. Castiel was a little paranoid that his parents would somehow find them and try to take him away from Dean and their family. They had a lot of connections and Castiel wouldn’t put it past them to use those connections to find him.
So, when they both became teachers and ended up working at the same high school, Castiel had asked Dean if he could be called Mr Novak so as not to draw attention to them. (Same sex marriage might be legal now but it would still turn heads to have two husbands teaching at the same school, which was the kind of thing Castiel wanted to avoid.) Dean had agreed, he just wanted his husband to feel safe. They still went home together at the end of the day and that’s all that mattered to him.
But it is that exact act which has led them to where they are now.
“Dean,” Castiel speaks into his husband’s hair. “I think it’s time to tell everyone the truth.”
Dean turns to sit up properly and look at Castiel.
“Are you sure? We don’t have to. I know you love and I sure as shit love you,” he reassures Cas. “Plus, it’s only your teacher name that’s still ‘Novak’. Legally, you’re a Winchester,” he smiles.
“I know, but I want to be honest with our coworkers and students too.” Castiel explains. “And maybe I want to show them that you’re not the only one with a crush,” he teases.
“Awesome.” Dean beams. “We don’t have to make a big deal out of it anyways. We’ll just start wearing our rings tomorrow and they’ll figure it out.”
Castiel nods in agreement.
Dean could just burst with happiness. He’d finally be able to show Castiel off like he’s always wanted to.
Currently, his wedding ring sat against his chest on a silver chain under his shirt. Castiel keeps his safely tucked away, only taking it out for special family occasions (hence why he got the tattoo - as a more subtle and personal token of his love for Dean). Dean couldn’t wait to feel the weight of the ring on his finger every day. And knowing Castiel would be walking around with his matching one makes Dean smile like a love-sick dork.
Suddenly feeling like a kid on Christmas Eve, Dean settles down into the sheets again, eagerly awaiting sleep to take him so it could hurry up and be morning.
He’s just drifting into sleep when Castiel’s voice whispers against his ear.
“Dean?”
Dean hums, not mustering the energy to turn over and face his husband.
“Not that I’m not happy that it gave me the perspective to stop being scared, but where did the rumours of you having a crush on me come from anyway?”
Trust Cas to think of the semantics just as Dean is trying to sleep.
Dean only has one word.
“Claire.”
Castiel sighs. “I should have known. I’ll talk to her.”
Dean finally turns to look at Cas in the eyes. Green meets blue. “Don’t sweat it, babe,” he smiles. “She’s just teasing like all teenagers do. She would never actually tell anyone anything we’re not comfortable with.”
Castiel shrugs and nods his head in silent agreement.
“I’ll just get her back when we go to your brother’s for dinner on Sunday.” Dean yawns, cheekily.
Castiel rolls his eyes. The joking rivalry between Dean and their niece never seems to end.
Dean smirks and leans over to kiss Castiel. “Goodnight, Mr Winchester.”
“Good night, Dean.”
* * *
The next morning, Dean walks into his home room class and begins the regular formalities of the morning.
Claire walks in late a few minutes later. She says nothing to Dean until she sits down at her desk, puts her feet up on the table, and says in a nonchalant manner, “Nice ring, Mr Winchester.”
The rest of the class look to Dean’s hand. Sure enough there’s a silver band on his left hand that hadn’t been there the day before.
“I just saw a matching one on my uncle’s hand when I handed in my history project. Isn’t that a funny coincidence?” She smirks as the rest of the students’ mouths drop open. Dean’s known Claire long enough to know that it’s a smirk of love though.
The news of his and Castiel’s marriage (and Castiel’s new teacher name) reaches his freshman class by second period. He should have known it wouldn’t take long.

Mikhail's Past Pt.1
Going in to Mikhail's past now. His is a bit harsher. Overall mentions of death, fire, buildings collapsing. Poor treatment of a child as well.
Pt. 2 Pt. 3(Final)
Mikhail's Past Pt.1
Ian and Mikhail were finally starting to move past the fear of Mikhail’s human size. Mikhail had decided he should tell Ian about his past too. He hadn’t meant to hold off like this, but he didn’t want to add anything to his adjustment. It was going to be a long, hard conversation. It wasn’t like he’d had an easy life either, but it wasn’t as bad as being treated like a pet. Just thinking about what Ian told him tended to make his height harder to maintain. He needed to stay calm; he would probably have enough trouble keeping his size during his story.
Ian had gotten comfortable on Mikhail’s bed, he had a nest made out of the blanket he’d picked out. Ian knew what they were talking about, but didn’t seem to realize why Mikhail was so anxious. He’d brought a lot to make sure Ian would stay comfortable. Mikhail was fussing and stalling. Mikhail almost wanted to abandon this whole idea and just get back to helping teach Ian new things. Although a movie marathon is good too. He was sitting in a chair in front of his bed and kept fidgeting, looking for other things Ian could need while he talked.
“Mik,” Ian’s small voice broke his thoughts, “you don’t have to tell me anything.”
Mikhail settled down then, Ian wasn’t asking. Ian could see how nervous he was, and was willing to stay ignorant. He couldn’t do that though. Ian deserved to hear the past of who he was living with. It wasn’t like Mikhail couldn’t talk about it, he had before. It just wasn’t easy to tell someone he cared about like this. It made him look like a monster, at least that’s how he felt about it. He took a deep breath to settle his nerves.
“No, Ian, it's fine,” he said. “I want to tell you, I just may change sizes a lot and it’s kind of a long story. You have your hook right? In case you need something we forgot and I’m too small to go get it?”
Ian nodded. “Great then I guess it’s about time I get to telling you. It’s not exactly a nice story and it might make you view me a bit differently honestly. Just remember you can do whatever you need to all right? If you don’t want to stay after this you can leave, I’ll help if you want too.”
Ian tilted his head questioningly and said, “I don’t really think you could tell me anything that would make me want to leave, but yeah I remember. If I want to leave I’m not trapped.”
Mikhail gave a sad smile and finally started his story…
Mikhail lost his parents pretty early in his life, he was only seven. He couldn’t remember apparently the three had been in an accident, but no one knew any details. At least not the family he was with after that. They were all on his dad’s side, apparently their will had some weird rules in it about who could take him. It had to be his dad’s family unless he disappeared for a day or more, then his mom’s sister would take him. It made his dad’s side angry. His dad had a lot of money and his dad’s family wanted it. The family caring for him was getting a nice amount to keep it up, it was supposed to be support for him though.
They kept him under strict supervision, he was barely allowed to have friends. The most he was given were books, which he read all the time. It made other kids judge him, he was reading not playing. It was weird. At least to his cousins and the other kids in the schools he attended. He was getting shuffled between his dad’s family a lot, none of them really wanted him in their homes. They didn’t like him and made sure he knew he wasn’t a part of their family. Apparently his mom wasn’t approved of, but his dad had been left a big inheritance so they stayed involved. They put up with Mikhail for the money. It kept up for a few years too, it had been a long time since he’d felt like he had a family.
It was when he was going back to one of the worst houses when it happened. He was dropped off and the uncle left immediately. No one cared if he had to wait outside if no one was home. He hated it, he wanted to disappear, he wished he could escape his so-called family. He just wanted someone who cared about him. He’d walked up to the house when a strange feeling hit. Now he’d describe it as vertigo, but back then he had no idea. He closed his eyes and grabbed his backpack tight, waiting for the feeling to go away. Once it did, he opened his eyes and was confused.
Nothing looked right, he’d stumbled a little, but not enough to be somewhere so different. He was in some place with a lot of dirt and strange green plants. He was scared, but needed to get back to the house. When he’d walked in circles for a few minutes he realized he needed help. He started calling out, trying to get attention. Someone had to be nearby, he’d just been at his aunt’s door. He walked toward a blue wall calling out when someone grabbed him from behind covering his mouth.
“Damn it kid, do you want to get found by the humans?” the person said. Their voice was harsh, and Mikhail froze. He thought it was one of the kidnappers his family always said were after him. He didn’t even realize they’d said humans like they weren’t one. “I’m going to take my hand off your mouth, don’t start calling for help again. We’re lucky these humans went out.”
Mikhail nodded, of course his family had expected him to just wait outside. This was a gated community where he was safe to be left alone and he wouldn’t wander. He knew better than to wonder off at this point. He was too scared from the stories they always told him. The person removed their hand slowly, waiting to see if he screamed more. When they were sure he wouldn’t they turned him around to face him. He’d never seen someone like them before. They had this dark green hair that looked almost black, brown eyes, and a dark tan to their skin. They seemed shorter than every adult he’d seen before, and were in a strange make of clothes. They had a pin on their waist and a fish hook in their free hand. It was like someone out of a story book. He still hadn’t realized the fact the items shouldn’t be that big.
“W-who are you?” he asked. He was terrified. The stories about wood nymphs popped in his head. They were supposed to be nice, but maybe he made this one angry.
“I’m Maria kiddo. How’d you wind up out here, especially with human looking stuff? Had they caught you, made you a doll or something?” Maria asked. Mikhail’s brain finally caught up with the words and sights. The clothes and shoes were all fabric. The pin was the size of a sword, the fish hook could be a grappling hook like adventurers use. None of this made sense. He looked at the green plants around them, and if he squinted it almost looked like grass. He started to hyperventilate, if this was real how did he get so small. He had wished to disappear or escape, but wishes didn't come true like this. Maria wrapped their arms around him, rubbing his back slowly.
“Hey hey, kid it’s ok,” they said. “It must have been scary stuck with humans, they probably got you young yeah?. Come on I’ll help you learn the ropes, just think of me as a big sister all right?”
Mikhail did what she said and followed her. She entered the house, the one he was supposed to live in, through a hidden door in the wall. Mikhail couldn’t hide the awe at the door. He’d never have found it normally. Although this might be his normal now. He still didn’t get how he got so small. He just followed the person, he had no choice. How could he even get to his family like this. They’d probably think he was a bug or pest. Even worse they might keep him more locked away. He shuddered, he wanted to go exploring more than they let him. His mom used to go on walks in the woods by their house with him.
Maria had stopped and Mikhail walked into her. He sputtered out an apology, but she just hugged him. She held him close to her, his head tucked under her chin. He was frozen, he didn’t get why this was happening. She started shushing him and rubbed his back, it felt nice. He hadn’t felt like this since before his mom died. He started to cry, all the tears he’d held back since the accident.
“Shhh, shh, it’s all right,” she said. “I know it can be scary when you’re trapped with humans. I bet they took you from your parents too. Humans are monsters, but I’ll keep you safe. We’ll get you some practice and then we’ll head out before the human child shows up. You won’t get caught again.”
“H-human ch-child?” he squeaked. That had to be him. He’s supposed to be human, but isn’t Maria human too. He didn’t really get why she kept talking like humans were something else. Although if they really were in his aunt’s house, she must be huge. He shivered when he tried to imagine his aunt looking down on him now. He didn’t want to even see her face.
“I know human children are scary, was this the one who had you?” she squeezed him tighter. He just shook his head against her, he didn’t want her to send him away. The more she acted like humans were horrible, the more his fear grew. His family didn’t like him as it was, this would make things worse. There was loud thumping nearby and she cursed. “Come on kiddo we gotta move.”
They kept moving through the walls. Mikhail could just barely hear talking through them. It was loud, like someone was yelling, but the tone didn’t match. He followed Maria silently, hoping this would turn out to be a bad dream. Although he didn’t want Maria to be a dream she was nicer than his family has been. The voice got a bit more muffled as they walked into a more open area. It was messy, but looked homey. He could tell a number of things were makeshift, but the table had cloth with threads in it. There were things strewn all over and one pile of fabric scraps in the corner. It felt nicer than anywhere he’d lived in the last few years.
“So the first thing you need to learn is where you pick your home. Make sure it has this stuff,” she pointed to the weird stuffing Mikhail had seen in the walls. “It’s called insulation. It keeps your home on the warmer side, and it helps to block the human’s voices. By the way kiddo, what’s your name?”
“O-oh my name’s Mi-,” he started.
“What do you mean you dropped Mikhail here?! He’s not here at all, you were supposed to call me when you got here!” he heard his aunt scream. Maria and Mikhail both winced at the screaming, it was enough to hurt their ears.
“That could have been much worse,” she smiled. “So your name?”
“Mi-Mik, it’s Mik,” he said. He was scared she’d send him out to his aunt if she knew his real name. If her voice was that bad in the walls in person it would be worse. She yelled at him a lot, he hated staying here the first time around. Plus Mik was what his parents called him, they said it was the nickname for people close to him.
“All right Mik, get some sleep for now, tonight we’ll head out to get started on how to borrow,” she pointed to the pile of cloth in the corner.
“Borrowing?” he asked. She looked at him with wide eyes. He’d made a mistake he was going to get yelled at, he started apologizing. He didn’t want to get sent away or go back to his aunt like this.
“No way... they had you long enough you don’t know what you are,” she sounded angry, but sad too. Mikhail kept muttering apologies. “Mik, you don’t need to apologize, I’m upset they trapped you like that kiddo. We’re borrowers. Honestly the name is a bit wrong, we take and the most we give back is handling pest control. We’ll make sure you don’t wind up with humans again. I promise.”
She gave him a strong, determined smile and he nodded. He walked over to the fabric pile, getting as comfortable as he could. It wasn’t as comfortable as a bed, but for the first time since his parents died he didn’t feel out of place. He was surprised how hard it was to stay awake once comfortable. He slept the whole car ride here, but now he could barely stay awake. Before he knew it he was out, he almost hoped it wouldn’t turn out this was a dream.

Piledriver
Dean/Castiel 1815 words Post-Episode: s15e18 Despair Coda, Fix-It (sort of), Grief is a weird and protean beast, Second Person POV, but also Dean POV, I realize what a tall order that is y’all but I swear it’s mad judicious {AO3 version}
You’re not really sure when you started doing it.
That’s a fucking lie.
You started doing it ten, maybe twenty minutes after.
Not as a conscious thing, not like those snappy comebacks you think of the next day, or like those speeches you practice in your head and then never get the chance to deliver. (Although it seems like other people have better luck in that regard.)
It’s more like a tic — like the way Sam used to pick at his hand, or your mom used to hum the same little bit of Stairway to Heaven offkey. (Which was kind of a trip since she’d come back from, you know. There.)
You think: I love you, too.
It’s just a drumbeat of syllables running in the back of your head. Might as well be shave and a haircut. Which you could use, incidentally.
It eases off a little, after the universe ticks over. You’re so fucking relieved that you basically revert to a lower life form for awhile — you’re like a jellyfish, or a fungus, or a Yankees fan. For a few minutes there, things are pretty sweet.
Then the clock starts running again, and you and Sam are faced with the frankly fucked-up necessity of needing a hot meal and somewhere to pee.
It kicks back in then — during the peeing, specifically, because goddamn did the dude never get over what a fucking nightmare it is to have a bladder. Like it actually made him mad. Even after he got his batteries back and was once more able to, like, effervesce fluids out of his body or teleport them to the surface of Mars or whatever, he never stopped giving you pitying looks whenever he got up to use the can. On the road he’d ask if anybody needed a bathroom break at every single freeway exit. You chewed him out once that you in fact were not a four year-old or an Alzheimer’s patient and could therefore hold it for more than twenty minutes at a time, and he looked at you with such bottomless patience and empathy that you could’ve thrown him out of the fucking car. I love you too.
Instead of a heartbeat, it’s like a piledriver hitting the ground ten feet away.
I love you too. It rattles your fucking thighs as you wash your hands in the gas station bathroom. None of the other dudes do because dudes are fucking disgusting. This attitude was maybe part of the problem.
I love you too. You come out and the car’s moved and you have a hot second of freakout, then you see Sam’s just pulled it away from the pump and parked in the lot and honest to God (go team!) you almost burst into tears. What the fuck.
I love you, too.
That night you do your absolute best to lobotomize yourself (not to obliterate yourself, which is a sign of progress and for which effort you absolutely deserve a round of applause from…somebody), but the piledriver just keeps on pounding away and you realize that it’s either piledrive or get piledriven. Sam’s asleep six feet away after his own inpatient procedure but you’re really fucking starting to panic so you say it out loud, anyway.
I love you, too.
And something gives, eases off like a gas bubble turning a corner in your gut, and you pass out.
So you lean into it. You make it your thing. You figure you can either be losing your mind, or practicing, so you choose practicing. You’re showing the powers that be that you’re keeping the faith. You’re holding a torch. You’re being the change you want to see in the world. You’ve talked to coma patients before and you’ve prayed to this asshole before and this isn’t any different. Isn’t it?
Washing the dishes: I love you, too.
Checking the oil: I love you, too.
Swinging a machete and hitting that sweet spot between vertebrae where the head just pops right off, like a Lego dude: I love you, too.
Pulling on socks: I love you, too.
Burning that fucking jacket: I love you, too.
Not out loud, or at least, not where anybody can hear you. That would be weird.
And you know, you know, that he doesn’t hear you, either. You know that, worst of all, he didn’t even need to hear it. You’ve heard a lot of shit about unconditional love, but it’s never had any goddamn appeal to you because, what? Somebody loves you the same no matter what fucked up shit you do, no matter how you feel about them?
That’s either (a) some seriously poisoned Kool-Aid or (b) so huge it’s useless, like giving somebody a galaxy for their birthday. You want unconditional love? Get a fucking dog.
I love you, too.
Lately you’ve been swapping in phrases that have the same rhythm or meter or whatever, so you can say them out loud without worrying anybody more than usual. The rain in Spain does some heavy lifting for a couple weeks, then ba-DUMP-bump, tissshh! followed by the king of beers for about half a particularly shitty afternoon and then closing out with you bet your ass, which is a much better fit for your lifestyle.
So fine, great. Life goes on. You were the subject of his unconditional cosmic love-boner whatever and getting that off his chest was all he needed to go happily fucking off into the abyss. And you’re still down here (up here? over here?), drinking coffee and hating Mondays. Awesome. I love you, too.
This is around when you discover the best match for both meter and tone yet, one so close that it doesn’t even feel like a placebo for the real phrase. It’s a whole different drug, actually. It makes you feel like a million bucks, it’s absolute rocket fuel. If the original is whiskey, this shit is meth. You turn a whole nest of ghouls into one big ghoul smoothie and then at the bar later somebody nervously informs you that you were yelling it out loud the whole damn time.
The phrase is: go fuck yourself.
You imagine it at night, lying in the empty bed, your pulse hammering in time: him standing there, one big cow-eyed khaki rumple, and you yell: Go fuck yourself. You asshole. You bastard. You smug piece of shit. Go fuck yourself. How many times have we done this, and every fucking time you find a way to make it worse. Go fuck yourself.
I love you, too.
After a few weeks it loses its edge. You kinda knew it would, having some experience with the limits of amphetamines and your own rage-juice glands. It downgrades from a battle-cry to a slur. At some point you realize you’re not even saying it to him anymore. You’re saying it to you. Go fuck yourself.
You try to imagine him saying it instead. Go fuck yourself, in that nutso Sam the Eagle voice that he must’ve gotten out of a box of Cracker Jacks, because it sure didn’t come complimentary with Jimmy Novak’s dry-ass mouth. Go fuck yourself, Dean.
Somehow it’s still the nicest thing anybody’s ever said to you.
So you go back to the OG version, and this time it feels like it settles in. You do whatever the psychological equivalent is of buying it a dog bed and a food dish and a leash, and you take it out for walkies whenever it starts to chew on the furniture. I love you, too.
You get so used to its presence that sometimes you even forget it’s there. You’re joking around with Sam, eating sandwiches at some picnic grounds on the way to Sioux Falls for a social visit, and you say some dumb thing to him, who knows about what. Sam rolls his eyes and shakes his head in disgust as required by the kid brother certification board and snorts “I love you, man,” in the way that means how are you even allowed to exist, and you answer “I love you, too,” in the way that means I love you, too.
Sam has seen a lot of wild shit, but the look on his face after that is a brand new one to you.
“Checkmate, asshole,” you say, in case he’s worried you’re gonna off yourself in the bathroom or something.
You do get to say it, eventually.
Like most things in life, it happens after you’ve totally given up, and then totally given up giving up, and have achieved the spiritual equivalent of that shrug emoji Claire sends you sometimes. When the phrase is well past thinking about, when the words don’t even carry any meaning anymore; they’re like the thought version of blinking, or swallowing. A background process, until something flies into your eyeball or you try to breathe a tortilla chip.
So the tortilla chip shows up one day. Don’t worry too much about the details here, just take it for granted that it either required a heroic effort of years that nearly broke you, or that he just showed up unsolicited on the porch like a copy of The Watchtower. Or maybe you’re both dead; seriously, who cares, because regardless — he’s there, and you’re there, and for awhile other people are there too, but eventually they go away.
And it’s him, and it’s you. And if you hadn’t absolutely digested this thing in advance, if you hadn’t broken each word down into its atomic particles and cut and pasted them into your DNA so that 45th century forensic anthropologists from Mars could extract it from a fragment of the the mummified marrow of your left ass-bone, you might’ve said something else.
You said: “I love you, too.”
You realize, in the moment after you say it, that you have reached the limits of your preparations. You’re a samurai with a single move; you’re the cannon in the 1812 Overture; your photo’s in the dictionary under one-trick pony and you’ve got frosted tips and you’re blinking.
You say it again, and then a third time, and a lot of times after that. You keep saying it, for years, in varying degrees of franticness and horniness and happiness and honestly still-fucking-angriness and whatever else is on special that week. You say it to his face and to his dick and to his back and to the mere concept of him well after he’s left the room, left the state, left the dimension. Eventually you stop bothering to say anything else to each other. There are maybe half a million words in your native language, according to Sam, who uses them all, and with everybody else you keep on using the two hundred or so you feel confident about.
But with Castiel, you make do with just the four.
I love you.
I love you, too.

baby talon dick au + more jason
It was strange, Jason decided, being twice the size of his older brother. He was exactly as Jason remembered him—except, of course, the glowing yellow eyes and blue veins that criss-crossed tan skin unnaturally paled. But it was him, impossibly, miraculously. And he was, perhaps more impossibly, still himself. He still flitted around any given space like an acrobat—Alfred had caught him up on the chandelier three times already. He still laughed riotously at the dumbest jokes, still rambled on and on about whatever he was currently passionate about.
It was only little changes now. Now, Dick couldn’t stand to be cold, wrapping himself up in every blanket he could find to prepare for every night. Now, his speech was stilted, and there were still moments he’d forget himself, and call himself ‘Talon.’ And before, Jason really didn’t remember Dick doing what he was told quite so often.
That, and he hadn’t so much as touched a single person other than Jason. He kept painful distance between himself and everyone, stiffening the slightest bit when someone—even Alfred or Bruce—got too close. He remembered them, that much was clear, but his memory was spotty, and they’d been beginning to suspect it might’ve been tampered with. But with Jason, it was different. With Jason, Dick was his usual tactile self. He leaped off the banister into Jason’s arms, he climbed around onto his shoulders, he even held Jason’s hand sometimes. It had weirded Jason out at first, but he’d gotten used to it quickly. Truth be told, Jason himself was a tactile person, it had just been so long since he’d allowed himself such easy contact with another person.
Speak of the devil, Jason felt a light weight slam into his back and wrap tiny, undersized eleven year old arms around his neck.
“Jaybird!” Dick exclaimed, clinging to his back like a spider-monkey.
“Watcha doin’ there, buddy?” Jason asked, pausing from the sandwich he was making. Another strange thing: apparently now he talked to Dick as if he were a child. Dick was a child, but he was still technically Jason’s older brother, and that was still a trip.
Dick hooked his chin over Jason’s shoulder. “I dunno. Do you wanna play a game?”
“Sure, kiddo,” Jason said. He didn’t call Damian “buddy” or “kiddo,” despite Dick and Damian being the same age. Technically. “Just give me a second to eat this.”
“One Mississippi! Your second’s over, let’s go!” Dick tugged on Jason’s neck, trying to get him to start moving.
“Asshole,” Jason laughed. Dick didn’t stop tugging as Jason shoved his sandwich in his mouth. “I’m coming, I’m coming,” he said, mouth full. He carried Dick into the living room, where Dick jumped off of his back and went running to the cabinet under the tv that they kept all their boardgames in. In finding what he wanted, Dick pulled every single other game out of the cabinet as he went, tossing them beside him carelessly.
“Tt. I hope you’re planning on putting that back.” Jason almost (almost) jumped. He hadn’t noticed Damian, buried in an armchair with a sketchbook in his hand.
Dick didn’t even look up, and Jason suspected he’d clocked Damian immediately. “Do you want to play, Dami?” he asked, now with a deck of ratty old Batman cards in hand.
Damian glanced imperiously down at where Dick was kneeling on the floor. “Play what?”
“Go Fish!”
“Go…what?”
Dick was scandalized. “You don’t know what Go Fish is?” At Damian’s continued confusion, he turned to Jason. “He doesn’t know what Go Fish is?”
“Don’t look at me,” Jason said, shoving aside some games to make room for him to sit, perfectly aware Dick would not be putting them away anytime soon. “He came like that.”
Dick pursed his lips and looked at Damian. Since Dick had come home (after nearly killing Damian, Jason should probably add), Jason honestly couldn’t tell if he and Damian were best friends, or if they hated each other.
Damian glared at Jason. “Whatever the game is, I’m sure I can beat you, Todd.”
“It’s a luck game, Damian.”
“No it’s not!” Dick exclaimed. “It’s skill!”
“Sure it is, buddy,” Jason said. He and Dick, back when they were both kids, would play an inordinate amount of card games. They definitely played Go Fish the most (funnily enough, Dick did win most often, which Jason supposed would lend credence to his idea that it was about ‘skill’), but they’d generally played a lot of different card games. Jason had come to find Dick couldn’t remember how to play anything but Go Fish. “Damian, are you playing or not?”
Damian slunk down from the chair, closing his notebook as he went. “I’ll play, only so I can beat you.”
Jason rolled his eyes, and decided to pick his battles carefully.
“Yay! I’ll explain how.” Explaining Go Fish was more of a joint-effort. As Dick fumbled with the cards he was attempted to shuffle (which was so unlike his usual grace), he attempted to explain, only he frequently lost track of what he was saying, and Jason had to jump in. It was...a little concerning, to Jason, and it confirmed his suspicion that most of Dick’s ability to do things like play Go Fish relied on muscle memory. Once he was required to think it though and explain it to someone else, he faltered.
“Go Fish!” Damian declared smugly, towards the end of their second round. He had one card in his hand, and was taking far too much pleasure in repeatedly saying “Go Fish!” when anybody asked for a card.
Jason sighed and grabbed a card from the pile. “Oh,” he said. “I’m out.” He laid down his new pair of eights along with his other pairs. Damian leaned over and Jason had to hold back a laugh to see him counting under his breath. “And I win,” he said with a smirk, knowing Damian had just come to the same conclusion.
Damian scowled. “You probably cheated.”
Dick giggled, dropping his ten remaining cards, none of which were matches. “Jay always cheats.”
“I played this one fair and square. Like I play every game of Go Fish.”
“Whatever,” Damian said.
Jason had absolutely no reason to antagonize Damian. So, naturally, that was exactly what he did. “Don’t be upset you lost to ‘the superior Robin.’”
“Tt. You are not the superior Robin. Only Robins that manage to stay alive can be superior.”
Jason happened to glance back at Dick to see the playful smile drop off his face. Jason’s retort died on his tongue.
“What?” He looked between Damian and Jason, eyes wide.
“Nothing,” Jason said, kicking Damian lightly to try and give him the message.
Damian kicked him back, much harder. “Did Todd not tell you? He managed to get himself killed.”
Dick was staring at Jason now like he’d never seen him before. “What do you mean?” he asked, with a kind of dawning horror.
“Todd got tricked by the Joker and ended up exploding,” Damian said blithely.
“Damian, shut the hell up,” Jason said. Could the kid really not pick up on the mood, or was he, as always, being purposefully belligerent?
“He came back, eventually, but he’s the only one of us dumb enough to die for real.”
Dick stood suddenly. Damian seemed surprised by the motion.
“Dick-” Jason began, but Dick took off running. Jason glared at Damian. “What the fuck did you say that for?”
Damian blinked quickly, trying to wipe the bewildered expression off his face. “I didn’t do anything.”
“You know what you did,” he said, although in reality, he wasn’t sure that Damian did. He stood up now too, and cast Damian one last angry look before leaving the room. He jogged up the stairs, and stopped on the second floor instead of the third. The third floor was where Dick’s current room was. It was situated between Alfred’s and Bruce’s, with everyone else across the hall or not much further. That wasn’t where Dick went. Dick would have gone to the second floor, to his old room. His old room was a mausoleum, completely untouched and exactly the same as Dick had left it. After Dick’s “death,” no one could stand to look at it, but no one could bear to change it. So everyone simply relocated to the third floor, leaving a messy eleven year old’s room like some kind of memorial no one had the heart to visit.
Jason stepped into the darkened room to the sound of sobbing. Something tight in Jason’s chest tugged him over to the bed, and when he sat on the edge of it, Dick’s breathing hitched and his sobbing stopped suddenly. He hadn’t moved, his face was still buried in the pillow he was gripping.
“Hey buddy,” Jason said. Dick didn’t respond. Jason couldn’t remember if Dick liked to be comforted when he cried, or if he would want to be left alone. There were so many things he didn’t realized he’d forgotten about his brother, so many details the years had washed from his mind. “Are you okay?” he asked, and hoped his voice didn’t betray just how lost he felt.
Dick shook his head, not looking up from the pillow. For lack of anything to say, Jason slowly reached out a hand to place on Dick’s shoulder. When he first made contact, Dick stiffened, just for a moment, before he relaxed and suddenly he was crying again.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay,” Jason said desperately. That wasn’t the affect he’d wanted. “Is this about what Damian said? Because I’m fine. We’re all fine now.”
Dick clutched the pillow tighter and if anything, sobbed harder.
“Dick, please, I’m okay-”
“No!” Dick exclaimed, shoving himself upright violently. His golden yellow eyes gleamed unnaturally in the low light, glistening with shedding tears. “No, it’s not okay, you’re not okay!”
“Dick…”
“I was meant to protect you. I was meant to keep you safe. I was meant to! And you—you died, for real.”
“I’m better now,” Jason tried.
“You died. And—and I know you died in my colors. You died in my colors with my name and I couldn’t keep you safe.”
Jason tried to swallow down the pit in his stomach. He did die as Robin, but it wasn’t Dick’s fault. It was Bruce’s fault, it was the Joker’s fault, it was Jason’s fault, not Dick’s. “It wasn’t-”
“Now I get it.” Tears started streaming down his face again, but this time, they were silent. “Why you’re so different. Why you’re not the same anymore, why you’re angry all the time. You’re not my little brother.”
Jason stared, dumbly, mouth open, unable to formulate a response. He wanted to say yes, yes I am, I’m still Jason, I’m still your little brother, but that wasn’t true? Was it? He wasn’t the same person anymore, and he certainly wasn’t Dick’s little brother. They couldn’t be who they were before. Time and circumstance irrevocably changed that, for both of them.
Dick’s breath hitched again, and he barely choked out his next words. “My little brother died, and I didn’t save him.”
There was nothing left to say. Jason didn’t know which of them moved first, but the next moment Dick was sobbing into his shoulder and Jason had his arms wrapped around him. He felt his shoulder getting wet from Dick’s tears and felt his own eyes start to water. It felt like finally admitted the truth he hadn’t wanted to face: their roles were reversed. Jason’s older brother may have miraculously come home, but Jason had grown up. It was time to face the truth, and stop running from his responsibilities. He was the oldest now, with the specter of Dick lifted (more or less) from the house. His younger siblings, Dick included, were his to take care of now, and it was time to do a better job of it.

Oh my goodness those Ignis mpreg headcanons were so well written! I really enjoyed them they were really cute, if ya don’t mind me asking could you do Prompto next? I’ll leave all the details up to you but plz give us more uwu
Mpreg Prompto (Final Fantasy 15 Headcanons)
Omg ☺️ I’m glad you liked the Iggy one. Honestly While making the Ignis one, I was thinking about doing a Prompto Mpreg headcanon but I didn’t think someone would ask for a Prompto one.
But I will give the the people what they want!! PROMPTO MPREG!! Expect this to be very silly 🙃
Idk where this takes place, I’ll leave it to your imagination ;) just know that no ones dead! Yay everyone lives!!
One more thing: this does contain Mpreg (Male Pregnancy. Don’t like? Don’t read! Constructive feedback is welcome!)

• He’s a lot of things (being adorable cinnamon roll is one 🥰) but stupid isn’t one of them.
• he’ll noticed 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘺 how he’s gaining weight and starts to become more insecure (someone hug him pls)
Minor Warning: mentions of eating disorder habits.
• he starts to exercise more but he pushes himself a little to far of what people consider “Normal” and stops eating around people. That caught Ignis’s eye.
• Ignis motherly instincts kick in (Noct ain’t his only kid ya know) he confronts Prompto’s lack of appetite but Prompto doubles down.
• Ignis asks Noctis to, as his Best Friend, To help Prompto. Noctis goes to talk to his Best Friend.
•Noct tries to talk to Prompto about his excessive exercise and seemingly lack of appetite but Noctis’s awkwardness and his unintentional nonchalant attitude, doesn’t help and Prompto just ignores his friends concerns.
•however, one day Prompto passes out while running and is rushed to the hospital.
•it’s only then, he’s given the shocking news; He’s Pregnant! Not just that, he’s already a month Pregnant!
•he’s in shock and disbelief at first. How could that happ-
•oh yeah he had sex (duh)
•to make a long story short, Prompto was at a party, met someone, was getting along great and...well yeah you guess the rest xD (tbh I’m not comfortable or good at describing sex scenes, so I’m not gonna torture you guys 😅)
•after that, Prompto never saw (or heard) from them again.
•Gladio was like “Welp, it least you got laid!”
• meanwhile Noctis and Ignis: 👨🦯👨🦯
•Now, in a hospital bed, with the news that he’s Pregnant, Prompto feels alone, confused and scared. So he, reluctantly, turns to his friends for help.
•Noctis jaw was on the floor, he wanted it to be a joke. It wasn’t a joke.
•Gladio was: 📉📈📉📈📉📈📉
•Ignis, being the most calmest and levelheaded, tells Prompto to try to contact the baby’s other parent (can you tell I’m trying to be gender neutral? What can I say I love my he’s, she’s, and they’s 🥰)
•this, however, proves to be a colossal failure, since Prompto doesn’t even remember their name!
•Out of stress Prompto begins to cry :’(
• Noctis finally sees the seriousness of the situation, promises his best friend to help him and be there for him.
•Ignis and Gladio as well! Yay Grandma and Grandpa!...I mean Uncles!!!
•One Month: Prompto begun to eat correctly again. He’s lucky that the baby wasn’t harmed.
•this poor boy...gets sick a lot!!
•morning sickness is his worst enemy!!!
• “Now I know what my Mom went through...”
• he has the most RANDOM cravings...poor Ignis.
•he has to make the weirdest shit for Prompto!
•it least he’s eating it, so it’s worth it...kinda.
•Noctis is very protective of his friend. He knows people can be... judge mental.
•if anyone gives Prompto weird looks or glares.
•Oh Hell No!
•Noctis ain’t having none of it!!
•he’ll glare at them back! “What? What the hell are you staring at?!”
•He almost fought someone.
•Gladio had to stop him, he’s making Prompto cry (and that shit ain’t acceptable)
•Ignis just sighs. (Being a single mother is hard guys)
• Second Month: Prompto’s belly keeps gets bigger. He proud and nervous. He feels like he’s getting fat.
•The Doctor assures him that he’s not getting fat, he’s womb is getting bigger, which means the baby is growing fine.
•plus his friends are the best support system!!!
•lris gets him baby clothes, baby toys, etc.
•you better believe he’s taking pics of his baby bump.
•not just because it’s adorable, but because he wants to document it! He wants to scrapbook it!! It’s one of his biggest projects and he wants it to be perfect!
•Third Month: he has to buy new clothes ;-; he’s already outgrowing the ones he has!
• Prompto’s insecurity: 📈📈📈
•Noctis still tries to fight ANYONE who even looks at Prompto.
•Even Gladio gets annoyed with Noct fighting people and arguing with security to not kick them out.
•”Noct stop trying to fight people or your getting nothing but vegetables!!!”
•oh and you just know Prompto is gonna buy some Chocobo plushies, he’s kid is gonna love Chocobo’s as much as he does!
•55% of the baby supplies is Chocobo related.
•Fouth Month: This is it. He finds out the baby’s gender!
•it takes a while cuz the baby was an awkward position.
•”poor little guy, he must feel uncomfortable as much as I do.”
•”she’s actually a girl, Prompto. Congrats it’s a Girl!”
•”AAHAHAAHAH! IT’S A GIRL!” lris had to scream that where Noctis, Gladio and “I haven’t had my Coffee yet” Ignis could hear.
•THAT’S IT! I’M MAKING IT’S A GIRL CAKE!!
•that’s how they celebrate the announcement of the baby’s gender.
•Noct wouldn’t admit it but he’s really excited to be an Uncle.
•Gladio and Ignis as well.
•however, Prompto does not have much experience with taking care of Babies, so he starts practicing.
•for the next couple months, he training to take care of baby.
•he gets better but he fears he won’t be a good father (or mother) to his unborn Daughter.
•he doesn’t want her to feel what he felt growing up; loneliness.
•he promises her that he’ll never let her feel alone. He wants her feel loved and safe.
Eight Months: She’s already kicking. Literally!
•Seriously, She’s the most active baby the Doctor’s ever seen!
•let’s hope she won’t be too energetic....
•lris decides to make a baby shower for Prompto. The plan is simple:
•Ignis makes the food. (So many new Recipeh’s)
•Noctis keeps Prompto distracted. It’s not that hard as it sounds, he takes Prompto to a Chocobo farm!
•all tho, Prompto can’t ride the Chocobros cause he might fall and hurt himself and his unborn daughter, but he’s really enjoying himself. The plan is going smoothly.
•meanwhile Gladio decorates with the material he’s given because Iris doesn’t trust him to bring his own.
•it’s small and not many people came but hey! It’s the thought that that counts.
•Noct gets a text to bring Prompto to the party. The plan is going great!
•Prompto was so moved by all the hard work and the effort his friends made, that he balled his eyes out.
•it went great! They eaten the delicious food (THATS IT! GRANDMA IGNIS ACTIVITY!)

•it was so cute! (In a dark way)
•Gladio’s was an adorable baby book. (He would have gotten a book about Chocobos but they didn’t have any ;-;)

•Nine Month: The last month. The doctor was put Prompto on bed rest. Don’t walk around too much, try to stay hydrated.
•Noctis has to come over to look after Prompto during the last days of his Pregnancy.

•Wait! WHAT WILL THE C-SECTION FEEL LIKE?!?!?
•he wouldn’t have to wait long...
•during the night, Prompto was having a hard time sleeping, due to some back pain (you know where this is going...)
•trying to get up, Prompto feels something wet.
•”NOCT!”
•”what I was drea-“
•”Prompto...did your water break?!”
•”I-I don’t know!!”
•unsure what to do, Noct (panicking) calls Ignis.
•”IGGY! I THINK PROMPTO’S WATER BROKE? MAYBE? I DON’T KNOW!”
•”Noct, how about you call the midwife?” Said Ignis calmly. (Let me know if you got that joke 😉)
•Noct calls the midwife, she tell him to bring Prompto to the hospital.
•(weeeeeeeeee wooooooooooo 🚑)
