i’ve had about 21 oz of wine so let me talk out my ass for a second. so falling into you hadn’t been working for me for the first like 8 eps cause 1. yucheng (male lead) is petty, mercurial, pushy, clingy (not always in a cute way), unapprciative/unacknowledging of the people who care for him outside of luo na (heroine) (and *so* many people car about him, but he pays them all dust), 2. the older guy in the pseudo love triangle seems too old, 3. i don’t get what age luo na is like didn’t yucheng *just* get into college?????, 4. luo na is like oblivious to both yucheng and wu ze having crushes on her, 5. there’s literally no plot, and 6. in 11 episodes luo na has spoken to one (1) woman........the male lead’s mom 🙄.
BUT right now they’re going through some angst. at first i was like nah, cause she’s actually working behind the scenes to get another coach to help him become a decathlon athlete, but he thinks she’s abandoned him to coach another athlete who’s more naturally gifted at the high jump than he is. and i was like...this is literally just non-communication (not even miscommunication, which can sometimes be delicious), which is not a good foundation for angst but just bad/frustrating writing. i kept comparing them to youan and sanchuan from nothing but you (big mistake, they are incomparable)--youan would speak honestly to sanchuan about what she thinks is best for him, and they’d talk about the situation at hand. you know, like mature adults who wnat the best for each other. but falling into you is not about maturity, like that’s not what it’s interested in.
now i’ve only watched cat on a hot tin roof cause i thought everyone in it was hot, and i read the glass menagerie in hs but didn’t really get it/don’t remember it, but i think what i remember about tennesee williams is that all the most powerful stuff about his work is found in the subtext. i’m elevating falling into you here, but that’s the way to read the show. the *subtext* of luo na and yucheng’s angst right now is that luo na *knows* they are dangerously close to one another--close both in the sense that he relies on her emotionally in a way that’s not typical of coach-athlete relationships, but also that he’s tied his wanting to perform too much to wanting to perform *for her approval*. she is introducing distance into their relationship to try and mitigate those aspects of how they function with each other. but yucheng does not experience it as her giving him the space and freedom to make his own decisions. he experiences it as an abandonment. he experiences it as the first person who believed in him as much as he believed in himself suddenly pulling away, coincidentally right when another athlete who’s just naturally gifted shows up. the subtext is he’s in love/crushing hard, but because they can’t be together (cause you know...student-athlete/coach) he’s like sublimated (pls note idk what this word means) those feelings into their coach-athlete relationship and so her establishing boundaries/trying to get him to toughen up/overcome hurdles on his own in *that* relationship is like her rejecting his love.
one other thing is that watching this and nothing but you make me appreciate run on even more, because it was a romance sports drama that managed to have he athlete stop being an athlete and critique the sports establishment and find a way to work outside of it, and the heroine wasn’t involved in sports at all, and yet her work wasn’t at all sidelined. like, run on managed to be a sports romance drama while using sports as a metaphor in the romance *without* making sports the *locale* of the romance. that’s vision, that’s talent, that’s *mwah*.

Ep2 the atypical family short review
Tumblr media
I love it😍😍😍😍😍😍
Ep2 progressing even faster than I thought and when she mention he held her hand and him denying😍😍
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was weird that he don't remember it but the ending explain it all and the preview for next ep😍😍😍😍😍so lovely
So surprise he can touch her..but why her??
Tumblr media
Do she get superpower when married to him in the future🤣🤣🤣I'm too fast..gosh this drama making me make another drama in the drama..
Plus the awkward lovely vibe between them😍😍😍😍I'm so lovin it..
Will they make baby when they get married😍😍😍😍or I'm too fast like the grandmother..I wonder what's the rush for superpower ,maybe the grandmother to harvest more power
But will writernim include pregnancy and babies???
Tumblr media
As this drama have 12 ep ,and 10 ep left..plus I can't predict this drama ..ep2 totally caught my heart with their love storyline.
I think gwi Jun save da hae before in the fire.but she still got the fire trauma which I very much curious.
The grandfather is normal I presume as he does not posses nor have anything to be said..but if he do, then my theory of she marrying to gwi Jun in the future( which I don't know will happen or not) which resulted her power maybe
Tumblr media
Short side note I can't fully indulge myself that Jang ki young playing this young father coz I cant feel the fatherly vibe..he still an oppa than appa to me..let's see if he can deliver in further episode
Tumblr media
The way he holding the hand and run together
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nonetheless can't wait for next week loveliness as they living together and him keep going back to her😍😍😍😍

What happened last night in South Korea was horrible.
We were only a few backsteps away from sinking back into dictatorship. Three decades of hard-won peaceful democracy we had been enjoying after three decades of dictatorship was about to fall.
Fortunately, swift action was takan by veteran lawmakers from the opposition Democratic Party, many of whom were survivors of and seasoned fighters against the bloody atrocity that once reigned South Korea back in the 1950s to 1980s. Equally important, some of the parliament members could make it safely into the National Assembly premise thanks to brave Korean civilians who rushed to the place to protest and block military vehicles that were trying to get near the parliament for the 190 lawmakers to make resolutions against the unjustified, out-of-the-blue martial law declared by President--a failed coup d'etat leader--Yoon Suk-Yeol.

▲ Korean citizens helping a parliament member go over the fence of the National Assembly to annul the martial law.
We still don't know the dick-for-brains Yoon's whereabout, neither what he's doing right now after the shitshow he created last night. Allegations are that the footage of him announcing to lift the martial law wasn't a live one; that it was actually pre-recorded at the same time as the footage of him declaring the martial law. Many suspect that some of the military leaders responsible for the failed coup d'etat attempt have already escaped this nation. The majority of the far-right ruling party gathered in their Party headquarters quite near the parliament last night, instead of heading straight to the parliament to vote against martial law, waiting for either the dawn of a new dictatorship or getting ready for being opportunistic. Only 10 ruling party lawmakers who are now known to belong to the opposing faction of Yoon within the party participated in lifting the martial law.
---------------
By the way, I'm much calmer now...😭 I was born soon after the end of the decades of dictatorship. I grew up in democratic South Korea, although there are still so many problems that need fixing. I barely slept last night. To my generation, it was literally an existential dread. I wished I could've run to the National Assembly to join the protest, but I lived too far away to do so. I owe the brave civilians and opposition party representatives my whole life.🥹🥹
Last night's experience was truly a solemn reminder that the flamboyant Korean pop culture, or Kpop, that we all love is built on a delecate hard-won democracy. Contemporary Koreans including me are only one generation away from brutal dictatorship that killed thousands.

oh god.......remember in run on one of the major issues they had was mijoo felt seongyeom always put up a wall, and he never realized/felt he was doing so? and then how he was always second place in his races but when he was running to her he ran a time that would have gotten him first place?
his teacher tells him he seems shy, that he puts up a wall between himself and the listener; he tells his teacher he’s never played for anyone else, just himself cause he loves playing the piano; he loses a major competition and that night he comes back home and they fight and he ends up playing happy birthday on the piano for her to get her to come back to the apartment

Can I get something off my chest?I MISS THE OLD KDRAMAS LIKE HELL. I miss that time when writers gave us flawed characters with not so perfect lighting, and real people faces and ugly hair. City hall? My name is Kim Sam soon? Healer? Heartstrings? Princess Hours? Coffee prince? My princess? I especially miss SBS , MBC and KBS. You could understand which kdrama was produced by which channel from the lighting alone or the photography. I feel like TVN's dramas, while aesthetically pleasing, are for the Western audience and are so perfectly perfect.
Literally THIS anon!
I feel like an old lady saying things like "k-dramas were so much better before netflix took over" and "remember drama fever service?? SOB!," but I really miss my dramas and the wild range of them.
You want a specific kind of slice of life that takes risks without worrying about viewership? JTBC was your jam. Need something really low rent and old school? MBC!
Worried you can't find a k-drama? IMPOSSIBLE with both viki and drama fever! And the combined subscription was like $14 bucks a month.
Now I have to illegally watch 50% of my dramas, and pay netflix AND disney so they can cast the same huge stars with disappointing endings (I'm NOT looking at you Run On, you were a gift). Because these streaming giants only care about growth, after they screwed up the k-drama eco-system, there's literally nothing on. I went from struggling to keep up with all of the new releases to only watching 2. Finally, Viki doesn't really get many good dramas anymore because they can't afford to buy them, and lots of actors are struggling to find work.
As a side note, everyone should just give up and watch No Gain No Love. Is it miraculous? NO. Is it shiny and glossy like anon is complaining about? YES. But is it old school cute? You bet aside from the horrid Amazon Prime interface.
And speaking of interfaces--

Soompi 240111 🌷 Minnie
< series masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SEVENTEEN’s Minnie joins the cast of the upcoming variety show “Apartment 404”!
The idol singer will be starring alongside comedy legends Yoo Jae Suk and Yang Se Chan, as well as actress Oh Na Ra and actors Lee Jung Ha, and Cha Taehyun. Created by Jung Chul Min, other known as PD Jung, who has already been credited with the hit variety show “Sixth Sense”, the six entertainers will have to solve the mystery behind multiple curious events that occur in their new residence.
tvN’s upcoming “Apartment 404” will mark Minnie’s first ever fixed casting in a variety show made for television! In the past, selected episodes of the idol’s group own YouTube entertainment show “Going Seventeen”, have been aired on TV, gaining her and the rest of the members a lot of national attention, as well as praise.
“I watched the first ever Gose (short for “Going Seventeen”) episode on JTBC, back in 2021 and just couldn’t stop laughing,” PD Jung told the reporter. “I was so surprised how idols could be so effortlessly funny. All of them seemed so smart while reaching such a high level of comedy.”
When asked how the producers came to choose Minnie, Jung Chul Min explained, “It was almost by accident. We were in a meeting and just talking about other possible cast members. Of course, we all knew that we’d need relatable and funny characters that would be entertaining to watch.” After a lot of back and forth, Minnie’s name fell and the room started laughing. “Kim Minnie is a very well acclaimed name, not only within South Korea, but also internationally, so she seemed very out of reach.”
After all, SEVENTEEN have reached the achievements “fastest selling global album of the century”, “first artist to exceed 3 million copies sold in the first day of release in Hanteo’s history”, and “highest pre-orders for albums in history, with 4.6 million sales”.
“But Yoo Jae Suk convinced us to ask her.”
The comedy legend and Minnie had already met years ago during an episode of “Running Man”, where the idol singer had appeared as a guest star. They seemed to have grown closer and kept in touch even after the shoot.
“SEVENTEEN was still on tour and had just finished filming another variety show with Na PD, but she found time to meet up with us and agreed almost immediately,” PD Jung recalled. “She shared her personal schedule and we set up filming dates right away. It must’ve been so busy for her… I remember her telling us that she had just landed and came to set right from the airport. I really respect her dedication.”
Filming for the variety show started last year, already gaining a lot of Carats’ attention when a picture of the cast was posted on Social Media.
Tumblr media
Twitter, Instagram, and Naver exploded with interested fans, who couldn’t believe their eyes.
“Since when is Minnie doing variety shows?!?!”
“IS THAT MINNIE FROM SEVENTEEN???”
“Jaesuk and minnie back together after running man😭😭 omg I’m so excited for this”
“Seventeen seems to be doing more tv stuff nowadays, I’m really happy!”
“Whatever this is, you better bet I’m watching it!!!!”
“Casting her turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made,” the producer admitted. He promised that Carats and variety show fans will be very happy with her appearance.
The show will air on February 15 on tvN and will make its international debut on prime video on February 23. The teaser has already got us on our tippy toes!
