if anyone’s curious about my current ddba thoughts i have been slightly concerned about the pacing the last couple weeks but this week’s ep cemented those fears. what do you mean you exposition dumped muse’s backstory and killed him off within fifteen minutes. what was that. we’ve had him for two episodes
#this season has too many underdeveloped subplots and characters. it either needed to be longer or have these arcs developed over multiple#seasons. idk#the thematic elements and character work around matt and fisk are working for the most part but they’re so diluted because of just how much#they’re trying to pack into this season#they don’t have enough time#i thought the pacing was wonky in ep 1 with how quickly they killed off foggy and wrote off karen but i let it go#idk now i’m just kind of nervous for how they’re gonna wrap this season up#the focus is too wide spread#we have range instead of depth#which is what the og show had and did so well#anyways i’ll stop yapping#alex’s inane ramblings#do i dare main tag this#daredevil born again#daredevil born again spoilers

Noticing that TV and film will often have a character either have had an abortion in the past that isn't showcased on screen (and just used as part of the character's ~fucked up and twisted backstory~) OR contemplate getting an abortion in the present day but not to through with it. Just once I want to see someone delete that fetus within the events of the plot and not be like. Extremely majorly punished for it and/or be in the wrong
#ramblings of a lunatic#was watching a tv show w the fam recently and it's the 2nd series of a show that was clearly written with only 1 in mind#so in the 2nd season a character gets pregnant (bc ofc) and contemplates getting an abortion#only to do the whole 'omg she thinks she's lost the baby and realizes she wanted to keep it all along!'#which like. fine and valid and happens to ppl irl I'm sure#but like. this season doesn't establish if she wanted kids prior or if she has a stable job (she was struggling career wise-#-last season and the timeskip this season doesn't go into it)#AND has this fucking bizarre scene w/ her boyfriend (whos mostly been irrelevant and occasionally annoying up til now)#where he says it's 'our pregnancy' that she was going to terminate and when she (rightfully) bites back-#-saying 'you mean MY pregnancy?!' he just. storms off and deflects#which would be one thing but we have to wrap up the main plot so she just apologizes to him (for other plot stuff)#and we're never given any indication that his opinion has changed and they're just happily parenting at the end of the season#which just. left a bad taste in my mouth#like I KNOW i know not every bad thing said on screen needs a big blinking arrow that points out that it's Bad and Wrong#but idk how I'm supposed to feel in a series that has painted itself as explicitly feminist up til this point#presents the outcome of a woman dating and bearing a child for a man w seemingly zero respect for her bodily autonomy as happily ever after#w no follow up#like the whole series is centered on a group of sisters and this pregnancy story happened to the youngest one#who's always seen as needing to 'grow up' in season 1. so assuming this is meant to be building off that arc it's so WEIRD still#bc yes being a parent is an opportunity for many ppl to mature emotionally but that's not really something the character-#-reflects on all season. it's more abt her burying her past relationship w a season 1 guy (who was infinitely more interesting than new guy)#-than anything to do with that#AND EVEN IF IT WAS the notion of pregnancy as a punishment/reckoning meant to make her grow up or take responsibility-#-which is secretly a blessing in disguise i. god the show fell apart so hard here for me#and my mom and sister were just cooing over the baby at the end and i didn't speak up bc i didn't want to be a bitch#and in all fairness I'm probably being a tad uncharitable in this post but like. don't piss me OFF man#anyway. normalise abortion storylines that aren't backstory fodder and aren't fakeouts for baby plots. please

#personal#like i have no issue with gaiman inspired properties ending due to the shit that's come out about him#but i was THERE when season 1 of the sandman came out it absolutely wasn't just gonna be more one more season after that#this mealy mouthed nonsense is so desperately infuriating#just be honest! the person who created the og property and who was HEAVILY involved in season 1 is a garbage human!#and as such you are removing projects he was a part of!#like at least good omens was honest that the reason we went from an entire third season to just one extra long episode#was because of the removal of gaiman's involvement and a desire to just wrap this shit up#and considering that gaiman was really involved specifically in writing dream from the sandman series#i wouldn't be surprised if removing him from the process has left them uncertain if they can really do it justice#and deciding to just jettison anything beyond a second season either#which is fine but my god at least be open about it

Season 2 had two hours of Aziraphale and Crowley together. Season one had 73 minutes.
Even if every single scene in the wrap-up involved Aziraphale and Crowley together, it would still be half an hour less than their scenes in s2. To get as much of them as there was in s1, you would need them on screen 75% of the time. Even the massively fanservice-y s2 had them on screen for 41% of the time. The wrap-up can have as little as 19% (17 minutes).

maybe the real Viktor arcane season 2 character arc were the friends we made along the way

#they've been saying this ever since the finale aired and it drives me CRAZY#have your personal opinions all you want but to say that 2x08 was objectively a weak episode is simply not correct#cinematography acting vfx choreography music EVERYTHING was at the absolute top of its game#and despite being an Exciting Battle Episode it was completely anchored in character moments & emotional resonance which is no easy feat#so much going on yet there was time for every major character to get a huge developmental/emotional beat#(yes even those like nynaeve whose beat was a loss rather than a victory)#every season arc was either wrapped up in an immensely satisfying way or was set up for a deeper examination next season#and 90% of the general audience absolutely loved it#and yet reddit acts like it's an Accepted Fact that it was poor quality#just bc the book-to-show changes in that episode weren't to THEIR PERSONAL taste#touch grass#wot#seeing as season finales will always have the biggest moments it's kinda inevitable that hardcore book fans#will always be the most sensitive to any changes made in those particular episodes#not to mention that the changes made in eps 1-7 will snowball and culminate in the finale#so i feel like finales are always gonna be judged the most harshly by readers#like if dumai's wells isn't an exact 1:1 recreation of the book version#readers are 1000000% going to flip their shit no matter how objectively good the show's version actually is#wot book spoilers#for the replies

I’ve decided. Turn and Burn (the Carlos horse girl fic) is gonna get a rewrite/revamp once I’m done with The Lone Ranger. It’s gonna be the second installment of my Rangers spinoff fic. It will be both a direct continuation of the Lone Ranger and set up for some other stuff on down the line.
#911 lone star#911 lone star fic#my fic#my fic updates#I have A LOT of fics planned for this Ranger spinoff fan fic series#quote unquote season 1 is gonna include the Lone Ranger which will probably be done being posted by April#it’s looking like it’s gonna be about 7 chapters#and if I update weekly and my math is correct April seems about right#it will be followed by turn and burn which will be several chapters and will probably put us into late May#then I’ve got a short maybe 2 or three chapter Ashlyn vs TK PTA fic which will put us in June#the PTA fic will sent up for the undercover fic that I’ve posted bits of#that one will be a minimum of 5 chapters so it’ll probably stretch from July to August#there will be an at least two week hiatus the end of July beginning of August cause I will be at Pennsic war (SCA event)#then I’ll try to hop right back to it#I’m gonna try to come up with some fun filler episode stuff#then the quote unquote season will wrap probably in September with a fic where TK gets kidnapped and held hostage on a train#then I’ll probably take a breather cause holy cow#and I’m very excited about what I have planned for the quote unquote season 2 opener#now all I have to do is write all that!#my plan/hope is that I can just stock pile everything get way ahead of my posting schedule and have most of ‘season 1’ done by like May#that way I can just focus on posting/editing#and eventually maybe I’ll also start talking to some people about guest writing some ‘episodes’#but it will be a Process TM#cause I’m still gonna want the main say in what happens#and sort of take a show runner type role#and boy oh boy#I’m probably biting off more than I can chew#and thank you if you’ve stayed with me through my long rambling in the tags!#I’m excited about this but very skeptical of myself and my abilities#so we shall see what happens
