#good omens wrap-up

Season 2 had two hours of Aziraphale and Crowley together. Season one had 73 minutes.

Even if every single scene in the wrap-up involved Aziraphale and Crowley together, it would still be half an hour less than their scenes in s2. To get as much of them as there was in s1, you would need them on screen 75% of the time. Even the massively fanservice-y s2 had them on screen for 41% of the time. The wrap-up can have as little as 19% (17 minutes).

i see whisperings in the tag of GO finale being a movie instead of a series which actually seems like a great idea. 90% of both seasons was pretty meh!!! Remove all the filler, give us an Aziraphale + Crowley movie - also with a movie you don't need a showrunner, so no need for Gaiman. Seems good to me. Tell a story, tell it efficiently, tell it well. Also....if its only 2 hours it will come out a lot sooner!! :)

i have no stake in this whatsoever since i’ve never even watched good omens and absolutely 100% unequivocally think it’s a good thing that an abuser is seeing the consequences of his actions but i don’t really see the point in shortening the 3rd season? rewriting it so he doesn’t get money from it? yes absolutely, but if that’s the reason, why not delay the season and do a full six episode rewrite? or just cancel it altogether instead of an inevitable disappointing finale. he’ll still be receiving royalties from the first two seasons and whatever ideas they use for the episode plus whatever he’s already contracted to receive so making a short season feels like it’ll impact the cast and crew more than him; they won’t be paid for a full season of work that they were expecting to have in an increasingly unstable industry

Thinking about how God gets they/themed by Sitis in Episode 2 and how Job calls Crowley a person not a man and it's just. Such casual reference to nonbinary identities in an historical context and a biblical context no less - I don't have words for how important that is to me. Just as much as Crowley getting to explicitly and without repercussion or consequence correct someone who calls him a lad.

The newest piece of nonsense I read on tumblr regarding Good Omens: "It needs the female gaze".

I'm sorry, what? The show that has:

literally made the Judeo-Christian god a woman

given us the unabashed, financially independent, aged prostitute Tracy

given us the bright, feisty, young feminist BAME Pepper

paired the confident and clearly experienced Anathema with innocent virgin Newt

made Job's wife the intelligent, independently thinking one

had two lesbians tell an eldritch entity to stop playing with their lives

presented us with a whole array of three-dimensional nonbinary characters in position of power portrayed by women

...is suddenly somehow lacking "the female gaze"?! Hello?? Have you even watched this show?!

Not to mention, the statement was made in relation to Rachel Talalay being officially announced as the new director, op cheering solely on the fact that it's a woman. RACHEL. TALALAY. The brilliant professional that gave us some of the most acclaimed NuWho episodes, AND the magnificent Sherlock episode "The Abominable Bride". The insanely accomplished director with countless successful projects to her name reduced to a bloody token hire!

And what drives me even madder is the fact that Prime seems to treat her like a token hire too, only letting her direct a hasty wrap-up instead of giving her the opportunity spread her wings and breathe new life into Good Omens. What does Douglas Mackinnon (with all respect to him) have that she doesn't?

Headcanon that the Bentley takes it upon herself to upgrade her stereo system once every so often so that Crowley looks cool(er than he is), so one day circa 2020 he hops into the Bentley to go visit aziraphale and it automatically bluetooths to his phone and starts playing Queen from his Spotify, at which point he keeps trying to change the playlist because finally maybe he’ll actually get to pick the music but the Bentley refuses to play anything else
