i think the scariest thing about mass shootings in America is knowing that one day you will be connected to one. you may be a part of one. you may be a victim of one. you may know someone who was in one. who died in one. who was there. no matter what, no matter how safe you feel, it will always be there. it is inevitable.

#the shooting yesterday made me think a lot #i went on tiktok and searched it which might not have been the best #i just didn't know what happened #and i saw thousands of comments from texans #families of texans #all saying they were there #saying their brother was there #their sister #their friend #it is horrifying to think that one day I could wake up and my sister could have her last day on earth just because she was outside #that i could go to the mall that I WORK at and it could be my last day on earth #in 2018 the middle school of the town I grew up in had a mass shooting #in 2019 they stopped a student at my school from bombing it #what do we breed into american culture that this kind of thing happens regularly #and that we all move on #everyday #we move on #do we all wake up everyday accepting it could be our last #or do most of us not even think about it #i'm starting to think of it that way

actually we in the community prefer the term "escape artist." yes that is the preferred terminology. no i get it's not what you grew up with. yes i know you weren't trying to be offensive. going forward maybe just try to avoid stigmatized terms like "escaped fugitive" or "killer at large". we are trying to move beyond that as a community

#i did not like her s2 arc so i am copium and living in s1 painter mel #mel medarda #arcane #my art #i have a LOT of thoughts on her and i wish she remained like. a normal person and not...whatever the magical stuff happened #it didnt develop smoothly enough for me to feel invested and left me just kind of. confused.#& i think that forgetting about Mels painting is leaving a huge interesting level to her character because art as a whole #can be used as a metaphor for the image for others to perceive vs how we perceive it ourselves...so for mel it would be herself #with the others perception being all of piltover. her mother. jayce. vik. lest. they all see her differently and mel herself i think #presents a different woman than what she is inside in favour of being 'diplomatic' and 'moving forward'#anyway thats just me rambling i jsut think there was a lot of melon left to thump in terms of her character #i loathe her trading in her signature colours for her mothers in the end

ladrien is cool in its fuckedupness because it's so comfortably distant. they're both in their fake personas, they know the other is in their fake persona, and they're entirely willing to and enthusiastic about keeping up the charade. every interaction feels scripted and they both love this about it. there's never any danger in it because they're never required to be vulnerable whatsoever. they never have to be honest, they never have to be genuine, and they never expect the other to be genuine, and there's probably some twisted sort of comfort in knowing that the other person is never expecting you to take off their mask. that you can just lie and keep lying and it's fine

marichat is cool in its fuckedupness because it's so uncomfortably close. they both know each other so well but are unable to admit why, so they're just overly-friendly and don't have boundaries where they arguably should. there is no pretense to be civil or respectable so marichat comes with the grossest jokes and awkwardest silences and flippant displays of bad behavior. chat has no idea what proper boundaries should look like when someone isn't Using A Mask, and marinette is in no position to draw her foot in the sand* because being authoritative is for ladybug!!! so they're violating each others boundaries and making each other uncomfortable CONSTANTLY!!!

Something incredibly satisfying about knowing your craft and the confidence that goes with it. Just the casual “yeah I could make that”. Want a band tee? Yeah I can embroider my own with the lyrics I want. Bridesmaid dress too long? Yeah I can hem it. Need new slippers? Yeah I can crochet a pair (and give them bunny ears). And of course it’s not perfect but nothing beats that feeling of being able to craft your own solution with your own two hands

#this was prompted by watching nerdforge on YouTube #which I highly recommend they just made an office with a bed that moves as required because they wanted the space #and the “well we want this so we’re going to make it attitude #I aspire to #due to space and resources I’m stuck with limited textile arts but want to and will learn more #want to also sew my own clothes but see above re space #so doing mending and alterations for now which is still satisfying!!!#plus being able to make all your friends presents #rambles #crochet #embroidery #seeing #questwithambition
