i love kristen applebees so much because with most dnd pc's if you said they'd "killed a god" you would go "woah they're so powerful to be able to fight and win against a god!" on the other hand you have kristen who has managed to kill 1 to 3 gods (depending on if you're counting yes! and yes? as seperate and who knows what's going on with cassandra's "being alive" status) solely by being bad at time management and comitment issues. oh your character spent a whole campaign working with their party to build the strength to kill a god in combat? well she did it by literally just having adhd SHE'S TOO POWERFUL

Red grumbled at Keith and literally turned her back on him in petulance, while Black refused to acknowledge Shiro at all. “This might not work,” Keith said. “You think?” Allura said, flat out sarcastic. “Maybe we're shuffling too many Lions,” Shiro said where he stood before an unresponsive Black. He was in Paladin armor, but where theirs was color-coded according to their lions, Shiro's was the reverse of Keith's. All the white was black, and the colored parts were white, thanks to Coran. Shiro had been ecstatic to match Keith, the dork. From behind Red, Keith turned to him, frowning. “What do you mean?” Keith asked him. “Blue is the only one who needs a pilot,” Shiro said. “Let me try to fly her instead. That way, Red can keep Lance, and Black can keep you.” “But you've never piloted any Lion except Black,” Keith said. Shiro countered, “We can at least try, can't we?” “You're right,” Keith said. He tapped at his helmet. “Lance, bring her in. We're going to try something different.” “Aw, but she's such a sweetheart!” Lance complained. “Red can probably hear you and she's not going to like that,” Keith warned him. “Whoops,” Lance said. “Sorry, Red! He closed his eyes and reminded himself that those words were not for him. “Just bring Blue in, Lance,” Keith said quietly. “Sure thing, bossman.” They tried again. And when Shiro asked Blue to let him pilot her, she opened up. “She really is a sweetheart,” Shiro said through the comms from within Blue. Allura made a noise and Keith glanced at her. Shiro had taken Allura's bayard from Lance, and Keith could see how she flexed her hand like she was attempting to summon it. In her other hand was a staff she had retrieved from the armory. She seemed very put out about handing over Blue a second time. There was a furrow in her brow as she looked longingly at Blue. “Take her out,” Keith directed Shiro. “See how you handle her.” “Sure thing, boss,” Shiro chuckled. Keith sighed. He got off the comm and turned to Allura. He said, “Don't worry, it's just temporary. You'll get her back.” At his words, her Altean marks brightened and she huffed a little. “I wasn't worried,” she lied. “We should go watch from the bridge.” Then she turned and made her way to the elevator. Keith shook his head and followed, Lance hopping to after them. Shiro did very well piloting. He had always been good. It was why everyone in his class had hero-worshiped him. But then came the real test. “Alright, team,” Keith said into his helmet. “In your Lions. We're going to try and form Voltron.”

I still don't get why people wanna be mad about these two female characters who survived being stabbed by a lightsaber...because somehow it's...unrealistic...or bad writing? (Because no one in real life has ever survived something that should have killed them, I guess.)

Star Wars is basically a space fantasy soap opera. Of course people are going to survive certain death. I'm not sure why this is a surprise to anyone or why it should cause so much anger.

i tend to talk a lot about the realistic nature of the witcher, its "realistic fantasy," "brutal realism," its references to political realities and inspirations taken from history, and that is all very important to it.

but... i also want to take a moment to say that the witcher, as a tragedy, also fills me with a hope... that such love, such beautiful families and friendships can exist, even if they differ too much to survive in the end. the idea that the beauty and purity of that love even exists at all, in such a fucked up world, despite it and sometimes existing in the very middle of it, is also what makes it realistic. hope is realistic. love is realistic.

hrrr I Saw the TV Glow is still rolling around in the back of my mind. it's hitting me somewhat belatedly that what seemingly starts as mainly an identity story turns out - toward the final act - to also be a love story. two queer kids finding each other (again). the bond they forge (have always had). the feelings that start to grow (were always there) despite the lie they're living. one trying to save the other, and failing. the frail hope at the end that maybe what they had mattered after all, even if they never see each other again. maybe because they knew each other, someday things will be better.

idk. so much of the story feels so lonely. they're awkward with each other at first and they don't really "get" each other and they're absent from each other's lives for long periods and they don't have anyone else. but it's all a lie - they were best friends, they knew each other better than anyone, they are who they are because they knew each other, they were not alone. no matter how bleak the setting is, this fake world can't obscure the truth. they'll never forget each other. it will always have happened, it will always have mattered.

it's so hard to put into words but Owen/Isabel and Maddy/Tara make me so crazy, the way everything in the world works to drive them apart and yet not even losing their memories can destroy the connection between them. and it's not enough to prevent the world from tearing them apart but maybe it's enough to save their lives

Yet another tarot card edit, this time for my Curse of Strahd character, Avra! She's a shadar-kai/reborn phantom rogue who was brought back from the dead by the Raven Queen to serve as her chosen assassin. She was sent to Barovia to kill a rogue lich, but one of the people meant to help her (a raven given human form by the Raven Queen) has made a bargain with him instead...

Her epithet in my notes is "the revenant", and I think it's pretty obvious why. And also pretty obvious why she gets the Judgement card. (Resurrected from the dead, brings her goddess's judgement upon people, etc.)

In this case the reversed version of the card is also fitting, or at least it most likely will be as her arc progresses... (Though the "lack of self-awareness" is pretty accurate, given recent events in the campaign.)

Oh, and of course I had to include a raven looking down on Avra. The Raven Queen does keep a very close eye on her, even now that she's in Barovia...

Thinking about soul permeability in regards to Cristabel and Mercymorn. Mainly the quasi religious reverence Mercy holds for John, despite everything, after ten thousand years of bitterness and regrets and sex parties. Mercy in Act 4 isn't just a woman who feels betrayed; she's a faithful who's lost her religion.

I've always been fascinated by the way Mercy acts around John; he's both her Emperor and sort of friends and her God, in a way that I don't think any of the other Lyctors ever come close to. They have personal loyalties to John, except when they don't, and a lovehate thing going on, but I don't think they truly worship him the way Mercy does, even when she's scolding him.

Pre TUG, I always thought that this was something Mercy did to honour Cristabel’s memory. Cristabel killed herself out of devotion and Mercy dedicated her whole existence to her remembrance; of course she needed to believe in John's divinity, to keep Cristabel’s faith alive. I thought it was a role Mercy performed, that of the fanatic, because turning her back on that side of Cristabel meant agreeing with Augustine that Cristabel hurt her by taking away her choice.

But what if it's not a mannerism Mercy developed? What if it's Cristabel’s soul peeking through?

I torture Oliver because I love him! Anything for the blorbo and his dysfunctional relationship with his mother! The lyrics are from 'Fable' by Gigi Perez! I've had this idea for a while but I don't have editing skills so I decided to make it into a Canva design on a whim (if you see a Canva watermark anywhere then uhh, no you don't... whattt). I originally didn't have anything else apart from the screenshots and the text but then I woke up and went “BUT” so here I am! I don't have any decorating skills so this was a challenge but a nice one! There may be inconsistent spacing I mean ahem uhh what (I didn't know there was a ruler until I started finishing it). I also accidentally made another version by switching the colour palette and I thought it looked nice and then I experimented two other times so those will be under the cut! I can't remember how I switched the colour palette the first time but the second time uses the colour palette from the last screenshot and then the last one uses the one from the Bridget screenshot post-Arcturion!
