The strident clatter of pens against hardwood was Joey’s answer to a departing Grant. One hand supported his head as the other, now done sweeping across the desk in anger, rested in front of him and tensed reflexively. A sigh escaped Joey the moment he felt he could utter sounds without collapsing into desperate sobs.

His mind raced—the bad news he feared would come his way had finally arrived, and this time, with no investors to fall back on, no savings to dip into and what felt now like nowhere to turn. Grant’s words held a finality he’d never heard from the accountant before. And no matter how hard Joey tried to twist those statements, made both verbally and on paper, he couldn’t wrest his way free. His head rested in his hands, shielding his eyes from the telltale trailing zeroes and harshly marked bank statements he’d been given moments before.

Joey let himself have one weak, gasping sob before silencing himself.

With his eyes clearing of hazy tears and the tell-tale redness abating, the clarity of his thoughts returned. With that clarity came the reminder of looming bankruptcy, laid neatly out in print on his desk.

But just maybe… perhaps he had a lifeline. It made plenty of sense—the Special Projects group was a heavy spender, and arguably one that helped Joey on his way to ruin. After all, its director wasn’t known for his frugality.

Perhaps there was a deal to be made with Bertrum. A deal that wouldn’t hurt his pride.

It was a long shot, but the target seemed to make himself very hard to miss, especially for Joey.

When a gentle knock at his office door caught Bertrum’s attention, his soft hum to himself ceased and was followed by a deep, “Come in.”

Joey’s grim visage in the soft light of Bertrum’s desk lamp wiped the seated man’s welcoming smile from his face. “…Mr. Drew?” He somehow knew to set his pen down and stand, one hand outstretched towards his boss. It drifted towards his hand first, but rested on his shoulder instead. “Is… everything all right?”

Joey’s heart hammered in his chest as he croaked a curt, “No.” His silence returned as he realized that, while he had words to explain his request for money, he had no words that fit the way he wanted it to come out. “There’s… an issue. Cohen informed me.”

The hand on Joey’s shoulder tensed—whether in anger or an attempt to assuage him, he didn’t know. But when Bertrum followed it with, “Mr. Drew, it’ll be easier if you just talk to me.” in a softer tone than Joey had expected from him, it was soon apparent that it was a comforting gesture.

It became even more so when Bertrum draped his hand down Joey’s arm to give his hand a comforting squeeze.

“Come on, then.” The larger man’s voice shook Joey from his haze of thought. “I have a feeling this may need to be discussed away from prying ears.”

With a light tug on Joey’s hand and a turn towards the door, Bertrum took the discussion outside.

having seen at least the rough outlines of all the romances now I have to say that I think emmrich's is probably objectively the best in terms of coherence and completeness of story arc (with the understanding that ultimately the 'best' romance is whichever one makes YOUR heart sing anyway so objectivity is a silly thing to claim that way, it just felt like it's the arc with the most well-paced focused content and the least dangling threads)... but lucanis' is my favourite haha. just. the whole kneeling before your beloved full of reverence but without any of the distance that usually implies??? his complete undramatic certainty and calm in every scene with rook after this, having spent the whole game caught between fear and longing???? mr. lives in a pantry but it says nothing about my psyche don't worry about it it's purely for tactical reasons that I keep myself contained in a small dark room not entirely unlike a cell, love among the parsnips -- finally coming to rook in their room and it's so comfortable and comforting???? after all the times rook supports and comforts him through the game he's finally able to return the same to them when they need it while being so calm and steady and it's so fucking sweet and feels so effortless and with no price attached?????? he basically assigns himself the role of your bodyguard and he WILL stab a god over it??????????????? the turn to protector (which was in his heart all along longing to get out and find a place) of it all????? he sounds like he's found himself unexpectedly stumbling into such a soul-lightening state of revelatory existential relief, full on 'you only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves' mary oliver style, and he goes and he shares that with rook and protectively envelops them in it when they're hurting??????????????????????????? hello for the maker's sake hello can anyone hear me?????

So this is a lot. Introducing Sun and Moons ex, a spunky advisor at court and also the decendant of a long line of witches. Also staring one of the many rulers they served, having to follow their every command even if it broke them. Prior to this event Sun and Moon had seperate bodies but Suns shattered after this, not being able to cope with being his lovers executioner.

you know what guys. after this whole thing goes down, i hope we get the ACTUAL kamiyama school festival and it is a very good comparison to the first one. where we can see clearly how much mizuki has grown since that first event in january 2021, since that first school festival in middle school.

and i hope mizuki gets to have fun with her friends and can hang out with ena. and i hope ena has fun too. i hope she gets to tease akito, forge bonds with her classmates at the fried squid stall, and hopefully get roped into a dumb show with the oddballs 1 2. i hope this is ena’s pandemonium. i hope we all can have a little bit of joy and whimsy while getting to see how much the gang’s lives have changed at this point.

and i hope rui is a little worried for mizuki — i sincerely hope he is somewhere in mizu5, quietly waiting by the rooftop like he always has for her. but by the end of the schoolfes event he can look at mizuki, her whole face bright as all eight students in our little kamikou main cast gang come down from the rooftop (for one last time maybe, but we don’t talk about graduation in front of rui… unless ofc we bring it up this event) and he can say “you’ve come such a long way, haven’t you, mizuki? i’m happy for you.”

You've got to be kidding! I'm sorry, but if you think and even headcanon that White Spy is pure and wholesome and even portray him as a hero all the time while treating Black like he's a spawn of Satan, then you're living in a fart bubble! Just because White is great with animals, especially dogs, does not mean that he's a "good boy," and I have proof of why every single claim about White Spy being "angelic" is all a bunch of bullcrap:

Plus, there's this part when he threatens the plastic surgeon into making a clone of himself just before that one graphically violent scene that I exposed back in late-January or early-February:

Then there's this scene where he thinks this random old lady is Black in disguise and tries to attack her, only for the old lady to kick his ass:

In my honest opinion, White deserved it. In another paperback strip he forces a Black Embassy geisha at gunpoint to have a clam form a pearl around a bugged microphone. It is from a paperback that I don't have a physical copy of as of yet, but that one is from "The Fourth Declassified Files of Spy vs. Spy," which was later reprinted as "Missions of Madness," I think. Once I have saved up enough, I'll be looking forward to buying it off of Amazon just like I did with my only paperback (as of now), "Masters of Mayhem," back in January. Also, there was a strip called "Operation: Altered Ego," from the paperback "The Third Dossier of Spy vs. Spy," where White plays a really cruel (and very disturbing) prank on Black after the former read "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde." This results in Black turning into a Mr. Hyde version of himself and ends up being taken to the nut house, all thanks to White using his love for literature to his own advantage despite that it has been used against him on other multiple occasions. That incident is proof that White has set up harsher, more callous, and disturbing traps for Black, and I am not surprised as I am beyond positive that this obviously isn't the only time he has pulled even more callous pranks on Black; remember what he did in "Operation: Maid of Steel" (which was made into animated short towards the end of the first season of MADtv 23-24 years later) from the same paperback?

Anyway, this is my point and I am dead serious: stop calling White Spy wholesome, pure, and good because I have evidence that proves otherwise! He may be great with animals (*cough**cough*Operation: Operation*cough**cough*) and can be a softy deep down inside, which shows that he does have standards, but that does not mean he is pure and wholesome!

No, I am not defending Black Spy either. Though I am sure he probably has standards as well, and might be a softy deep down inside, too. I mean, according to the wiki (which may not be 100% valid, of course, though), Black has been shown to be empathetic towards civilians, which is something White usually exploits at any given opportunity. Not to mention that Black also seems to be great with children, apparently. To anybody who loves antagonizing Black Spy, when you say you love White Spy better yet have tons of artwork torturing Black nonstop more than artwork of White, you are openly proving that you're a hypocrite, so why don't y'all do a lot of us this favor: cut the crap and leave Black alone!

This post was not meant to antagonize White Spy; this post was meant to expose him. Neither spy is good nor evil because the comics were not supposed to have the good vs. evil element; they were intended to represent that war is worthless. Both Black Spy and White Spy were meant to be equally sadistic, psychotic, and callous towards each other. Don't get me wrong. I mean, I love both Black Spy and White Spy equally because I think they're both simultaneously adorable and insane at the same time. Either way, I am sick and tired of people portraying one spy as good and the other as evil. I mean, this whole "white is good" and "black is evil" misconception and stereotype is nothing but a bunch of stupid crap. Seriously, this whole good vs. evil element headcanon in the Spy vs. Spy fandom gets on my nerves and it needs to end NOW.

he takes care of you as you deteriorate, not sure exactly what's doing on or why. all he knows is that you're sick, and you're not getting better, and that he wants to keep you safe and happy as possible. Legacy has abandoned your bed as your resting place in all but name- you spend most of your sleeping hours tucked away in his blanket nest, cuddled against him and the innumerable cushions around the room. he holds you close, delicate in his touch, claws carefully running up and down your back and massaging the worst pains as he purrs soothingly. it hurts to see you like this. always lethargic and aching, choking on a substance he can't see. and that's the thing, it's can't be a common cold or illness, or else Foul Legacy would also fall mildly sick. he frets over you when you sleep, adjusting the blankets and toying with the ends of your hair with trembling talons

when you're too weak to go out and restock the cupboards, he musters his courage and ventures out for you. there are a lot of fresh fruits in the basket he brings back, plucked straight from the trees- Legacy knows that the city folk would scream if he wandered into the market. he nudges them towards you, gently rumbling and crooning as he encourages you to eat and sip water. Legacy always chitters in approval when you manage a few bites, gently bumping his head against yours before settling down to curl around you. you'll get better- he knows you will. you have to. maybe it's just a sickness that doesn't affect him, and you'll be right as rain after a few days- weeks- of bedrest
