never rly noticed but it's interesting how hibike s1 rides on the high of kitauji getting gold for the kyoto competition, then at the start in s2 it starts to explore the downsides of music competition, and how it was basically the catalyst for so much of the conflict between the characters of the story
#hibike rewatch#i do concur that it's difficult to give a “ranking” to music because there's no right way to perform a piece#and neither is one piece of music better than the other#but without the rigour of a competition or platform for ensembles to come together to perform#i think most school musicians won't be able to achieve that high standard of playing#and again i speak from experience#i never got as good with the bass harmonica as compared to the chromatic harmonica despite playing it for a longer time#because i played the chromatic harmonica during JC where we had our inter-school performing arts showcase#that's when i drilled my technique to near perfection#whereas in uni when i played the bass harmonica it was just for annual concerts and small performances#which weren't as rigourous a stage as compared to being judged

You stood near the entrance of the Neo Club, your tiny fingers gripping the paper bag you had prepared earlier, waiting for your boyfriend. It had been two years since you two got together, although it felt like only the first half of the relationship was when he truly cherished you. Now, it seemed like you were the only one still holding on.
"I can never get used to this," you whispered to yourself, feeling a wave of embarrassment wash over you.
Only God knew how much you wanted to disappear into the shadows. The Neo Club was where your boyfriend and his friends hung out to write and practice their music—they were, after all, the university band. The thought of his friends seeing you here, waiting after he had ghosted you for months, gnawed at you. But you knew better than anyone that you needed this. The relationship needed this.
Your heart raced when the door opened, and to your relief, it was your boyfriend, Jaehyun, stepping out first.
"Jaehyun ah", you called softly.
He didn't look happy but he couldn't brush you off in front of others.
"Oh, y/n. You're here?"
"Yeah, I thought I'd stop by." You paused for a moment before continuing quietly, "It is our anniversary after all."
Jaehyun's face tightened at the reminder, but he quickly composed himself. It was obvious he had forgotten—just like he had forgotten Valentine’s Day.
"Y/n!", Doyoung greeted you enthusiastically, flashing you a warm smile.
You radiate the energy back quickly, Doyoung has always been nice to you regardless and you're more than thankful for that.
"Hi Doyoung, nice to see you again", you glance over Jaehyun out of the corner of your eye. You caught the faint sneer twisting his lips.
"You too, we were about to grab dinner. Come join us",wrapping an arm around Ten's shoulder.
The three of them were really close, as they bonded through their passion for music. However, you always felt Jaehyun had a silent jealousy towards Doyoung. Before you could answer Doyoung, Jaehyun was quick to interfere in the conversation.
"No, it's our anniversary. She can't spend time with you"
You were stunned, but yes. Tonight is important for you, you had planned it all for weeks ago.
--
The two of you parted ways with Doyoung and Ten and walked toward the nearby park. The walk was quiet; neither of you said a word.
"How contradictory," you thought bitterly.
You reminisced about how Jaehyun used to reach for your hand so naturally, especially on nights like this. You missed it more than you could express. Gathering all your courage, you decided to ask for it one last time.
"Can I… hold your hand? Just this once, I promise."
"Oh. Sure, here." Jaehyun reached out, gently taking your hand.
The simple touch made you emotional. It was bittersweet—both comforting and painful all at once.
Once you both reached the park, the cool evening breeze swept through the air, carrying with it a quiet serenity. You found a bench under the soft glow of the park's lampposts, and you gently placed the paper bag you had been carrying beside you. Jaehyun sat down next to you, his expression distant but calm.
You reached into the bag and pulled out a small cake, carefully wrapped in a box. You had chosen it from his favorite bakery, hoping it might spark a little warmth between you two. It was a simple slice of vanilla cake, layered with whipped cream and strawberries—a favorite from your earlier days together.
“I got this for us,” you said quietly, handing him a fork.
Jaehyun glanced at the cake, then at you before taking the fork from your hand. You cut a small piece for yourself, and for a moment, both of you were lost in the quiet rhythm of eating. The sweetness of the cake contrasted with the heaviness in the air.
Jaehyun took a bite, chewing slowly.
“It’s good,” he said, though his voice lacked the enthusiasm you were once used to.
You offered a faint smile, feeling the weight of the moment pressing down on you. As you ate, memories of the past flooded your mind—the times when sharing a simple dessert would have brought laughter, playful banter, and warmth. Now, the silence was deafening, and each bite of cake tasted bittersweet.
You glanced over at Jaehyun, noticing how even the joy of something familiar, something you used to share, seemed distant now. He ate slowly, almost as if going through the motions, and you realized that the cake, much like your relationship, was a fleeting attempt to recapture something that was already slipping away.
"Jaehyun ah", you called.
He responded with a hum, not bothering to lift his face toward you. As you both finished the last bites, you wiped your fingers on a napkin and looked at him one more time, hoping for a connection that never came. The cake was gone, and with it, the last remnant of the sweetness you had once shared.
"Let's not see each other again"
He stopped breathing at your words, finally meeting your eyes.
"What?"
"You heard me. Let's end this relationship already," you said, your eyes turning glassy before you continued.
"I’ve thought about us, and it’s best for us to part ways. The way you’ve been handling this relationship... it’s clear enough for me to see that I’m not part of the future you’re so busy planning."
"Are you saying I don't think of you in my future? Y/N, you know how much the band, this music, means to me. Making new music, composing... it’s really not easy, and it’s been tough, especially now that I can't come up with anything—"
"I understand, Jaehyun. I really do, but that’s not the point here."
"Then what is the point?"
"Jaehyun, do you even love me anymore?"
Jaehyun froze at your question, the weight of it hanging in the air between you. He opened his mouth to speak but hesitated, as if searching for the right words or perhaps realizing there weren’t any. The silence stretched, painfully long, before he finally spoke.
"Of course, I do, Y/N... but things are just... complicated right now."
You shook your head, feeling a mix of frustration and sadness.
"Complicated," you echoed, your voice breaking slightly.
"That’s all you ever say. It shouldn’t feel like I’m waiting for you to show up for me." He looked away, guilt and confusion flickering in his eyes.
"I didn’t mean to make you feel that way."
"But you did," you whispered. "And now, it’s too late."
Jaehyun’s face tightened as the reality of the situation began to sink in.
"So this is it? You’re giving up on us?"
"I’m not giving up, Jaehyun. I’m letting go. There’s a difference," you replied, feeling tears brimming in your eyes but refusing to let them fall.
"I deserve more than waiting around for someone who’s not sure if he wants me in his life."
Jaehyun remained silent, his hands clenching into fists as if fighting an internal battle. Part of him wanted to fight for you, but deep down, he knew you were right. He hadn’t been the partner you deserved, and now it was too late to fix what was broken.
As you stood up to leave, the weight of your decision felt heavy on your shoulders.
"Goodbye, Jaehyun," you said softly, your voice barely audible.
He watched as you walked away, your figure fading into the distance. For the first time, Jaehyun realized that the music he’d been chasing wasn’t the only thing he’d lost.
Jaehyun dragged himself back to the Neo Club, his mind a tangled mess of emotions. The weight of what just happened gnawed at him, but he pushed it aside, hoping that being with Doyoung and Ten might help him forget, even for a little while.
As he entered the dimly lit room, Doyoung and Ten were standing near the stage, grinning. "Surprise!" they both shouted, holding up a small cake with flickering candles. Jaehyun blinked, confused for a moment.
But then it hit him like a punch to the gut. This wasn’t for him.
"Where’s Y/N?" Doyoung asked, his smile faltering when he saw Jaehyun standing there alone.
Jaehyun’s face went pale, and the realization crashed down on him like a wave.
"Shit..." he muttered under his breath, clenching his fists.
It was your birthday.
He had forgotten. Completely.
The candles flickered in the awkward silence, the joyful surprise that Doyoung and Ten had planned now hanging in the air like a painful reminder. Jaehyun cursed himself, guilt settling in as he realized just how much he had already lost.
--
Jaehyun’s mind was a foggy mess as he stumbled through the park where the two of you had spent countless evenings together. Each step felt slower than the last. He found himself at the fountain—the one that had always been your favourite. The soft trickling of water formed a river-like stream that wound its way through the park, a quiet reminder of all the moments you’d shared.
He stopped in front of it, staring blankly at the rippling water. In his mind, he could still see you there, sitting on the bench with a soft smile on your face, your laughter echoing in his ears. How you used to tease him for getting lost in his thoughts, how you’d grab his hand and pull him close. The memory was so vivid it felt like he could reach out and touch it.
But you weren’t there anymore.
The realization hit him harder than anything else—harder than the silence that followed after you left. You were gone.
He slumped down onto the bench, his hands running through his hair as he tried to process it all. How had it come to this? How had he let you slip away without even realizing what he was losing? The band, the music—it all seemed so distant now, meaningless in comparison to the hollow ache in his chest.
"I’m letting go. There’s a difference," your voice echoed in his mind, soft but final.
You deserved more than he could give, and deep down, he knew that. He knew he had pushed you away, made you feel small, like an afterthought.
But knowing it didn’t make it any easier to swallow.
Jaehyun’s vision blurred as the tears he had been holding back finally spilt over. He didn’t try to wipe them away. He let them fall, dripping onto his jeans as he stared at the fountain, wishing more than anything that he could turn back time. He would hold your hand tighter, make you laugh more, and show you that he loved you instead of leaving you in the shadows.
And now, it was too late.
As the fountain continued its soft, rhythmic flow, Jaehyun whispered into the darkness, knowing no one would hear him.
"I’m sorry... I love you."
But the words, just like you, were gone—carried away by the wind, never to return.
--
Jaehyun glanced back to reality as he searched for a coin in his pocket. He never believed in any superstitious beliefs but could use one tonight. Taking out the coin, ready to make one and toss it into the fountain.
"Take me back," he chanted.
"Just let me be with her a little longer," as he closed his eyes, bringing his hand in the gesture of wishing before tossing the coin.
As Jaehyun's coin splashed into the fountain's waters, he felt a surge of emotion wash over him, a mixture of hope and desperation swirling within his heart. For a fleeting moment, he allowed himself to believe in the possibility of a second chance, of redemption and reconciliation.
However, as the ripples of the coin's impact faded into the night, reality came crashing back with a sobering clarity. Jaehyun knew deep down that time could not be undone, that the wounds of the past ran too deep to be healed by mere wishes.
With a heavy heart, Jaehyun turned away from the fountain, his mind clouded with thoughts of what could have been. As he blinked back the weight of his emotions, he noticed an old man sitting on a nearby bench, his face illuminated by the soft glow of the moon. The man offered him a gentle smile, which Jaehyun returned out of courtesy. There was something about the man that stirred Jaehyun’s curiosity.
"Do you come here often?" Jaehyun asked.
"I come here every night, young man," the old man replied.
"It’s a peaceful place," Jaehyun remarked, gesturing toward the shimmering waters, their reflection reminding him of your eyes.
"Do you believe in the power of wishes?"
The old man’s smile deepened, as though he had been waiting for that question.
"I believe in the power of music," he responded cryptically, his gaze fixed on the fountain.
Jaehyun let out a small chuckle, shaking his head. He couldn't believe he almost expected an old man to have the answer to his problems. He turned to say something more, but when he glanced back, the bench was empty, as if the man had never been there at all. It almost felt like a dream or a delusion. Yet, as Jaehyun looked at the fountain again, he couldn’t shake the feeling that the old man’s words had left something behind—something that had shifted deep within him.
--
As Jaehyun dwells on the mysterious encounter with the old man, his thoughts are consumed by the words uttered about the power of music. With a sense of curiosity driving him, he made his way to the Neo Club.
The room was empty when he entered as he scans the room. It was filled with all the stuff he and his club members would do, the wave of memories comes flashing back in his mind. But nothing came helpful for him in the room. Just as he was about to leave, he heard the sound of the door swinging and sees your small figure coming afterwards.
"Jaehyun? What brings you here?" you inquired, your voice breaking the silence.
Jaehyun froze, his heart skipping a beat at the sound of your voice. He vividly remembered watching you walk away, but there you were, standing before him as if you’d never left. And yet, something about you seemed different—softer, almost unreal. Without a second thought, he closed the distance between you, pulling you into a tight embrace and burying his face in the crook of your neck.
"Y/N, I’m so sorry," he whispered, his voice trembling with emotion. "I’ve been such a fool. I should have never let you go. I don’t know what I was thinking, but I’m so grateful you came back to me."
He clung to you like a lifeline, his words spilling out in a rush.
"Thank you, thank you for giving me another chance. I promise I’ll do better. I’ll make it right this time, I swear. Just don’t leave me again."
His grip tightened as if he feared you might disappear at any moment. But you stayed still, not even hugging him back.
Confused, Jaehyun pulled back slightly, searching your face for a response. His heart pounded in his chest, fear creeping in. Something was off.
"Jaehyun," you began, your voice steady but distant,
"you just confessed to me earlier. What are you apologizing for? Did you lie about going back to the dormitory? Why are you here?"
His heart dropped as the realization hit—this wasn’t the same moment. Something was terribly wrong.
"Well, it's a bit complicated. But nothing to worry about," Jaehyun replied with a reassuring smile.
"Why are you here, though?" you pressed further.
"I was actually looking for Ten. He needed some extra music sheets," Jaehyun explained quickly.
"Oh, perfect timing. I bought some for him earlier. Here, you can give them to him. He’s your roommate anyway," you said, rummaging through your bag and handing the sheets to Jaehyun before offering a quick goodbye.
As Jaehyun watched you walk away, a wave of nostalgia hit him. He remembered how you used to subtly hint at wanting him to walk you home. Though you never directly asked, he had always known. Feeling a sudden urgency, he rushed after you, catching your wrist as you reached the exit.
"Let me walk you back to the dormitory," he offered.
"Are you sure? It's getting dark," you said, concern in your voice.
"I'm sure. I just... I want to spend a little more time with you," Jaehyun confessed, heart pounding with anticipation.
Your puzzled look mirrored the confusion stirring within Jaehyun. Could he really have traveled back to two years ago, to when your relationship had just begun?
"Jaehyun?" you called, snapping him out of his thoughts. "You’ve been zoning out a lot lately. It’s starting to worry me."
“I’m sorry, Y/N. My mind's a mess right now.”
"We can figure it out together, if you want," you smiled at him. Your warmth hit Jaehyun like a wave, and before he knew it, he was leaning in, gently placing a kiss on your lips.
“Was that too early?” he asked, resting his forehead against yours.
"Don't worry. I like it this way," you whispered, sharing a quiet laugh before continuing your walk toward the dormitory.
--
Jaehyun was left reeling, his mind struggling to comprehend the strange turn of events. He didn’t like this gamble he was playing but he ran out of options when he knocked on the dormitory door that he used to share with Ten. No longer later, the door swung open.
“You lost your key again, Jaehyun?”
It was Ten.
Jaehyun tried to understand the situation but the more he spoke to Ten, the more confused he got. As the next day dawns, he begins to start his routine just like how he would back at university. Trying to mix the puzzle.
Jaehyun spends the next few days retracing the familiar steps of his university life, trying to understand where exactly he is in the timeline. It was not easier for him. He kept doing things out of place, calling familiar faces around the campus but none of them recognised him, struggled to get into the right class although some seemed oddly easy this time around. It's as if his mind holds onto memories from a future that hasn't happened yet.
Just as he walked out of his last class of the day, his thoughts immediately turned to you. He had always wanted to wait for you after your classes, but you never let him, thinking it would burden him to pick you up from another faculty. Yet, as time passed and the relationship deepened, you couldn’t help but start longing for that gesture.
Jaehyun remembered how you once brought it up during a fight.
“I didn’t think it mattered,” he had said in frustration.
“It does matter, Jaehyun! You never offer, not once! I know I said it’s fine, but I wanted you to at least try,” you had replied, your voice trembling.
At that moment, he realized how much those small gestures meant to you, but he had been too wrapped up in everything else to notice. The memory of that argument lingered, making him wish he had understood sooner.
Jaehyun found himself walking to your class, his feet moving on instinct as if drawn by a force he couldn’t explain. He stood outside, leaning against the wall, nervously checking the time. His heart raced with anticipation, unsure if this gesture would mean anything now.
As students started to spill out, he caught sight of you, chatting with a friend. For a moment, he hesitated, wondering if he should even be there. But then your eyes met his, and time seemed to slow. He offered a small, unsure smile, hoping you’d remember this moment—the one you had once wanted so badly.
"Jaehyun, you shouldn't be doing this. I can wait for you after you finish your band practice", you whispered to him when you walked towards him. He could see how shy you become.
"I know, but I want to be here for you," Jaehyun replied, his voice low but earnest.
You paused, caught off guard by his sincerity.
"But I don’t want to burden you, especially with everything you have going on."
"No, don't say that. You are not a burden. I want to wait for you after class. It made me feel connected to you", he insisted, taking a step closer.
You felt your heart flutter at his words, a mix of warmth and uncertainty swirling inside you. You searched his face for any signs of doubt, but all you saw was determination. It was a small gesture, yet it felt monumental at that moment.
"Are you sure this is what you want?"
"Yes, absolutely".
--
You walked side by side with Jaehyun, a gentle warmth spread through you, but your shyness began to creep in. The way he looked at you, with genuine interest and kindness, made your stomach flutter. You tried to focus on what to say about your day, but your thoughts felt jumbled.
When you reached the café, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, and you felt a bit more at ease. Jaehyun held the door open for you, and you stepped inside, your cheeks warming at the little gesture.
“Okay, spill. How was your day?” he asked, leaning casually against the counter as you both waited in line.
You fidgeted with the strap of your bag, glancing at him before looking away, your heart racing.
“Um, it was fine. Just… classes and studying. Nothing too exciting, really.” Jaehyun raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced.
“Come on, there has to be something interesting. Did you learn anything new?”
You hesitated, feeling a bit shy under his gaze.
“Well, we started a group project in class… and I was kind of nervous about presenting.” Jaehyun nodded, encouraging you with a smile.
“I’m sure you did great. You’re always so prepared. What was the project about?”
As you spoke about the project, your confidence slowly began to build. Jaehyun listened intently, his eyes never leaving yours. The way he focused on you made the words flow more easily, and you found yourself getting lost in the conversation.
“—and then my group members had a million ideas, and I was just trying to keep up,” you laughed, finally feeling a little more comfortable. Jaehyun smiled back, his expression warm.
With each passing moment, your shyness began to melt away, replaced by a sense of connection you hadn’t felt in a while. As you moved to the counter to order, Jaehyun placed his hand on the small of your back, guiding you gently forward. It felt natural, yet electrifying.
“Your turn. What do you want?” he asked, looking at the menu with a playful glint in his eyes.
You bit your lip, trying to suppress a smile. “Um, maybe a caramel macchiato?”
“Great choice,” he said, his voice light. As he ordered for both of you, you couldn’t help but feel grateful for this moment. Jaehyun placed the order for both of you, you turned to him, eager to ask about his day.
“So, how about you? Anything new from the class?”
But just as the words left your lips, Jaehyun’s gaze shifted. He made eye contact with the cashier, and a small smile crept onto his face—one that made your heart sink a little. You followed his gaze and saw Yeri, who was chatting with another customer, her laughter ringing out. She was Jaehyun's friend and you know the both of them shared a lot of things before he met you. She was even the former vocalist of the band.
You felt a familiar knot of insecurity tighten in your stomach. You’d always felt a twinge of jealousy about Jaehyun’s friendship with her, especially when they shared that effortless connection. You tried to shake off the feeling, but it lingered. He turned back to you, his expression shifting from warmth to concern.
“Uh, Jaehyun?” you said, your voice softer than before. “You know, I… I don’t want to interrupt your time with Yeri if you want to say hi.”
“What? No, it’s not like that at all. I was just—”
“It’s fine, she's your friend anyway” you interrupted, forcing a smile that didn’t quite reach your eyes.
“No. That's not what I want. I wanted to spend time with you, not anyone else. I promise.”
But as you glanced back at Yeri, who was now exchanging friendly banter with the next customer, the knot in your stomach tightened further. You couldn’t help but wonder if he’d rather be with her than standing here with you. The doubt flickered in your mind, and you tried to suppress it.
As the bartender placed the drinks on the counter, his gaze shifted back to you, the sincerity in his eyes reassuring you.
“Y/N, you’re not interrupting anything. I wanted to be here with you, not anyone else.”
You felt a warmth at his words but couldn’t shake the feeling that there were parts of his life he hadn’t shared yet.
“Okay,” you said softly, trying to push the unease aside.
His hand brushed against yours for a brief moment. It sent a spark through you, but doubts lingered, hidden beneath the surface. You wanted to believe him, to trust in the connection you shared, even if shadows from the future clouded his mind.
As you both grabbed your coffees and moved to a cosy corner of the café, Jaehyun’s thoughts drifted momentarily back to Yeri, but he quickly redirected his focus to you. You deserved his full attention, and he was determined to keep it that way.
--
Later that day, Jaehyun made his way to the practice room, his mind still buzzing from the coffee date. He found Ten already set up, surrounded by scattered sheets of music and a guitar resting against the wall.
“Jaehyun, you’re here!” Ten exclaimed, looking up with a grin.
“Help me with this new song.”
Jaehyun chuckled, settling into a chair across from him.
“What’s the song about?”
"It's called Lie With You. It's about longing for someone. The lyrics explore the feeling of wanting to be close to someone, to share not just the good moments but also the struggles. It’s like… wanting to escape reality together, even just for a moment.”
Jaehyun understood that feeling as he was facing the situation.
“It’s about those fleeting moments when you wish you could freeze time. It’s a mix of love, heartache, and the desire to be understood completely," Ten continued.
“Here,” Ten said, glancing at Jaehyun, “help me with this chorus. I want it to capture that feeling of wanting to lie down with someone, to just be together without the weight of the world.”
As Ten played, the melody unfolded—soft and haunting, weaving through the air like a gentle breeze. Jaehyun felt himself getting lost in the sound, the emotions resonating with his own experiences. Each note seemed to echo the longing he felt for you, the memories still vivid in his mind. His heart raced as he listened to the lyrics; they painted a picture of intimacy and connection—something he yearned for but felt slipping away. As they collaborated, the song transformed into an anthem of love and loss, reflecting everything Jaehyun struggled to hold on to.
“Let’s make it something people can relate to,” Jaehyun suggested, feeling the urgency of his own emotions at the moment. “Something that speaks to the heart.”
--
Days passed, and Jaehyun and Ten dedicated countless hours to composing the song. It was a truly precious time for Jaehyun—second only to the moments he spent with you.
You made your way to the library, determined to clear your mind and focus on your assignments. With your next class not scheduled for another two hours, you aimed to make the most of your time. Settling into a comfortable spot, you immersed yourself in your work.
As you continued to study, you noticed a familiar figure approaching out of the corner of your eye. There was something about the way he carried himself, the slight hesitation in his steps that hinted at his identity even before you fully registered his face.
As he drew nearer, you lifted your gaze from your work, and there he was—Jaehyun. Recognition sparked instantly, a mix of surprise and curiosity washing over you.
"Jaehyun?" you exclaimed softly, disbelief lacing your voice.
His face broke into a warm smile at the sound of his name.
"Hey there," he greeted, sliding into the empty seat beside you.
Seeing him in the library was a pleasant surprise, and you couldn't help but wonder what had brought him here at this moment.
"I didn't know you had a free period," you chuckled lightly, breaking the ice.
Jaehyun smiled back, his gaze warm and friendly.
"Seems like we have a lot to catch up on then."
Your laughter filled the otherwise quiet library, adding a sense of warmth to the atmosphere.
"So, you're here by yourself?" Jaehyun asked, breaking the silence.
"Yeah, my friends decided to skip class today, so I thought I could use this time for myself."
As you returned to your studies, Jaehyun settled in beside you, sitting quietly without intending to disturb you. You could see him starting to get sleepy, and a small laugh escaped you as he rested his head on the table.
"Sir, you’re not supposed to do this in the library," you teased.
"I know, but I’m so sleepy. Watching you calms me down," he replied, his eyes half-closed.
"Should we go outside or something?" you suggested.
"Let’s just stay here for a moment," he said, slipping his hand into yours under the table, closing his eyes with a content smile.
"Until the librarian kicks us out," he added playfully.
A warm flutter stirred in your stomach at the intimacy of the moment, and you decided to continue studying, feeling both shy and comforted by his presence.
--
As your relationship with Jaehyun flourished, his creative energy also surged. He spent countless hours in the practice room with Ten, diving deep into songwriting sessions with emotions he felt for you. The bond between Ten and Jaehyun was stronger than ever, as they bounced ideas off each other, turning snippets of melodies into full-fledged songs. Ten often teased Jaehyun about his newfound inspiration.
“You’re different these days. It’s like you’ve got a muse or something” he would say, a knowing grin on his face.
Jaehyun would blush, deflecting the comment, but secretly, he knew that you were the reason behind the spark in his music.
Together, they composed several songs, but one in particular began to take shape—an anthem about love and longing, capturing the essence of what Jaehyun was experiencing with you. He poured his heart into the lyrics, weaving in moments from your time together—late-night study sessions where Jaehyun would playfully nudge you, teasing you about your study habits, while you would gently scold him for his tendency to nap instead of focusing on his music, shared laughter at the café, and those quiet walks through the park.
On days when you visited the practice room, Jaehyun would play snippets of the new songs for you.
“What do you think?”
He’d ask, his eyes searching yours for approval. You’d lean in closer, captivated by the sound.
"Well, I really like it, especially the verse where-",
"Y/N', Jaehyun remind you softly it's okay to be honest with a smile.
"Sorry Jaehyun, I think the lyrics were a bit off",
He chuckled at your honesty, finding it adorable. As he moved closer, he glanced at the sheets you were holding, leaning in confidently. The Neo Club was empty that night; he had chosen this moment carefully, knowing his friends were leaving to give you both some privacy.
You could smell his scent from this distance, and the warmth between you was almost noticeable. Your cheeks flushed as you felt the heat radiating from his presence, brushing the back of your hand against your face. Jaehyun laughed at your shyness, leaning in closer, about to kiss you when suddenly, the door swung open.
Doyoung stepped into the club, he looked confused at the both of you as he tried to process what was happening.
“Well, didn’t know you guys were here,” he said casually, setting his guitar down near the door.
Jaehyun’s annoyance was barely concealed. This was supposed to be his moment with you, and Doyoung’s sudden appearance felt like an intrusion. You shifted uncomfortably, feeling a wave of shyness, your cheeks still warm from the almost-kiss. Doyoung’s eyes quickly landed on the sheet music in your hands.
"Is that 'Lie With You'? Mind if I take a look?"
You nodded slightly and handed the music over to him. Doyoung took the sheets gently, his eyes scanning the page as Jaehyun sighed, clearly trying to maintain his composure. The song was deeply personal to him and Ten, something they had poured their hearts into. He didn’t want Doyoung, no matter how talented, meddling with it.
"We’re still working on it," Jaehyun said, his voice tight with frustration.
"Hmm... some of these lines feel a little too heavy. You could lighten it up a bit, give it more flow. That way, it hits harder emotionally," Doyoung suggested, his tone thoughtful.
Jaehyun’s jaw clenched, but he knew Doyoung wasn’t entirely wrong. His natural charm and musical instinct made it hard to stay irritated.
"We don’t need to lighten it," Jaehyun muttered under his breath, though part of him understood the advice.
You smiled nervously, sensing the tension in Jaehyun but knowing that Doyoung only wanted to help. As the night continued, Jaehyun and Doyoung worked together, exchanging ideas. Despite Jaehyun’s initial frustration, it became clear they made a perfect team, their creative energies blending seamlessly.
As Doyoung suggested changes, Jaehyun felt a tight knot in his chest. He hated the idea of anyone else touching something so personal, yet he had to admit that Doyoung's input made the song stronger. He even suspected that Ten might’ve reached out to Doyoung for help since they’d been stuck on this part of the song for a while.
Just then, Jaehyun glanced over at you. You seemed tired, your eyes slightly drooping as you tried to follow the conversation between him and Doyoung. The long day had clearly worn you down, and Jaehyun noticed the way you shifted uncomfortably in your seat, trying to stay awake.
He frowned softly, his protective side kicking in.
“Hey,” he called gently, leaning closer to you. “You look exhausted. You should head home and rest.”
You blinked, trying to shake off the fatigue. “I’m okay, I don’t mind waiting for you.”
“It’s fine, really. I’ll walk you back.”
Jaehyun gave you a small smile, appreciating your dedication but knowing you needed the rest. Doyoung, sensing the moment, glanced between the two of you and nodded in agreement.
“Yeah, Y/N, you should rest. We’ve got this for now.”
You hesitated for a moment but eventually gave in, the exhaustion catching up to you. As Jaehyun helped you gather your things, he couldn’t help but feel a wave of affection for you. Even in your tired state, you had been by his side, supporting him and Ten’s work.
“I’ll text you when we’re done,” Jaehyun promised as he gently placed a hand on the small of your back, guiding you out of the club.
As you walked out into the quiet night, Jaehyun couldn’t stop himself from glancing at you again, grateful for the moments you shared, even in the simplest of ways.
Without warning, Jaehyun stopped in his tracks, gently pulling you closer by the hand. You looked up, confused but intrigued.
“I owe you something,” he said softly, his eyes twinkling.
“What do you—”
Before you could finish, Jaehyun leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to your lips, catching you by surprise. His touch was soft, lingering just long enough to send warmth rushing through you.
"I love you", he whispered, his forehead resting against yours.
You felt your heart flutter, unable to stop the grin from spreading across your face as you whispered back.
"I love you too".
--
"Doyoung really did great with the lyrics, actually," Ten told Jaehyun as they stepped into the café that evening before he continued.
"I hope you don't have any bad feelings towards him for that. I know how much you worked on that"
Jaehyun sighed, knowing the jealousy he was feeling was childish. It wasn’t about the lyrics or Doyoung’s contribution—it was the way everything was falling into place, just not how he envisioned.
“Do you think we can perform it anytime soon?” Jaehyun asked, trying to shake off the lingering frustration.
“Yeah, it’s good enough. I’ll make one last adjustment tonight.”
As they approached the counter to place their order, Jaehyun's eyes immediately narrowed when he saw Yeri standing behind the cashier. His stomach tightened. He knew Yeri from the future, someone who had stirred complications between him and Y/N, but in this timeline, she wasn’t a problem—yet.
"Oh, hi Yeri", Ten grinned widely.
“Hey, Ten! What can I get you guys?” she asked cheerfully, her smile genuine.
Jaehyun stayed quiet, only nodding, trying not to let his irritation show. He didn’t want to make a scene, especially when Ten enjoyed her company. After placing their orders, they found a quiet table and started conversing about their day. Jaehyun tried to focus on the music, but he couldn’t help but feel uneasy. He wanted to tell Ten so much about the time travel. Though it will only seem like a mad person. Just as their conversation picked up, Yeri suddenly approached their table.
"I have some good news for you guys," Yeri began, excitement clear in her voice.
"The owner's been looking for a band to perform at the café this weekend, and I suggested your band. He’s really interested. So, what do you think? Sound good?"
Ten’s eyes lit up immediately. “That’s perfect! Jaehyun, what do you think?”
Jaehyun glanced at Yeri, still feeling a bit uneasy, but Ten’s excitement was contagious. He forced a smile and nodded.
“Yeah, let’s do it.”
--
Yeri, Ten, and Jaehyun continued chatting about the upcoming gig, Yeri still buzzing with excitement while Ten and Jaehyun discussed the final touches for their performance. The café was warm with the soft hum of conversations and the smell of fresh coffee.
The door swung open just then, and you walked in with your friend, Jimin, after your evening class. You were mid-conversation, talking about the class, unaware of the trio at the corner table.
"I don't know Jimin, collaborating with Doyoung for the festival might not be a good idea", you remarked.
"Why not? He's a really good leader, even my friend Jeno approves it. He can handle the booth, all you need is to commit until the festival"
"To be honest, I don't think Jaehyun will like that idea", you admitted.
“Are you saying you’re scared of hurting your boyfriend’s feelings?”
“Hm, yes. His jealousy can be a bit... intense,” you opened up to Jimin.
"You mean, that Jaehyun?", she said, pointing toward the corner of the café. Your eyes followed her gesture, and your heart skipped a beat.
"Oh gosh, now I'm jealous", you thought to yourself.
Jaehyun, distracted by the conversation, didn’t notice you at first. But as you walked closer, his eyes instinctively found yours. Jimin, sensing the tension, nudged you forward, convinced that you should confront the situation. She clearly didn’t like seeing Jaehyun sitting with Yeri and thought it might hurt you more if left unaddressed.
Yeri, noticing Jaehyun's sudden distraction, glanced over her shoulder and caught sight of you approaching.
"Y/N!", Jaehyun quickly stood up, looking surprised.
He immediately sensed the tension in your expression, and his heart raced. The last thing he wanted was to repeat the mistakes of the past. He was determined to clear things up—something he hadn’t done in the previous timeline.
“Y/N, please listen to me. We were just talking... mostly Ten was doing the talking,” Jaehyun stammered, his nerves getting the best of him. “I was about to call you after class to pick you up—”
He quickly checked his phone to see if he’d missed any messages. “You didn’t text me... but I was going to call.”
"Jaehyun, please sit down. It's okay, really. I’m just here with Jimin. You should enjoy your time with your friends", reaching out for his arms, trying to ease his anxiety.
Jimin, clearly unimpressed, cleared her throat and rolled her eyes in Yeri’s direction. To avoid further awkwardness, you spoke up again, your shyness showing in your voice.
“I just wanted to stop by and say hi,” you said, making brief eye contact with Ten and Yeri. “Enjoy your coffee. Let’s go, Jimin.”
As you and Jimin made your way to the counter to order, you couldn’t help but glance back at Jaehyun. Your eyes met briefly, and despite the tension, a small smile flickered across your lips.
You and Jimin settled at a small table near the window, the warm glow of the café lights casting a comforting ambiance around you. As you sipped your coffee, Jimin leaned in, still buzzing from the earlier encounter.
"I can't believe we walked in on that," she whispered, glancing over her shoulder toward Jaehyun, Yeri, and Ten. "It was like a scene from a drama."
You chuckled, shaking your head. "It’s fine, Jimin. They’re just planning their performance. I trust Jaehyun," you said, though a small knot of discomfort lingered in your chest.
Jimin raised an eyebrow, unconvinced. "Yeah, but did you see the way Yeri was smiling at him? She’s definitely curious about you."
You shifted in your seat, casting a quick glance back at Jaehyun's table. Yeri was leaning in toward him, her expression inquisitive as she chatted with both him and Ten. You knew Jimin was probably right, but you didn't want to dwell on it. Instead, you steered the conversation back to lighter topics, focusing on the upcoming festival plans and your group project. However, the occasional glance toward Jaehyun’s table revealed that things weren’t as relaxed over there.
Meanwhile, at Jaehyun’s table, Yeri’s curiosity was bubbling over. She had noticed the shift in Jaehyun’s manner the moment you walked in, and she wasn’t about to let it slide. Leaning in with a sly smile, she nudged Jaehyun’s arm.
"So, Jaehyun," she began, her voice teasing, "who was that? Your new girlfriend?", Jaehyun’s face flushed slightly, and he avoided Yeri’s eyes, suddenly feeling flustered.
"Uh, that’s Y/N," he mumbled, trying to keep his voice casual, though he couldn’t hide the affection that seeped into his tone.
"Y/N, huh?" Yeri grinned knowingly, exchanging a look with Ten, who was quietly sipping his coffee but clearly amused by the situation. "She’s cute. I thought there was something going on with the way you jumped up when she came in."
Jaehyun sighed, rubbing the back of his neck, feeling like he was caught. "Yeah, we’ve been seeing each other for a while now."
Ten smirked, adding, "Don’t be shy, Jaehyun. You’re usually so smooth. What’s got you so nervous?"
Yeri leaned back in her chair, clearly entertained by Jaehyun’s awkwardness. "You should’ve introduced us properly," she teased. "Now I’m dying to know more about her."
Jaehyun chuckled awkwardly, glancing at you again across the room, where you and Jimin were engaged in conversation. His heart warmed at the sight of you, even though he felt the pressure from Yeri’s teasing.
"Maybe next time," he replied, trying to play it cool.
But Yeri wasn’t about to let it go that easily. She smirked, leaning in once more.
"Sure, but you know, you owe me a proper introduction. She seems important to you."
Jaehyun’s lips curved into a soft smile. "Yeah... she is."
That night, as you and Jimin prepared to leave the café and head back to the dormitory, Jaehyun quickly stood up from his seat, making his way over to you.
“Let me walk you back,” he insisted, his eyes soft but filled with determination.
He glanced at Jimin briefly before turning his attention back to you. You gave him a gentle smile, appreciating his offer but shaking your head.
"It’s okay, Jaehyun. I want to spend some time with Jimin tonight. We have some things to catch up on."
Jaehyun’s brows furrowed slightly, clearly reluctant.
"Are you sure?" he asked, his voice low as if hoping you might change your mind.
You nodded, reaching out to lightly squeeze his hand. "I’ll be fine, I promise. I’ll see you tomorrow."
Still, he didn’t let go of your hand immediately, holding onto it for a moment longer.
"Alright," he finally sighed, though it was clear he wasn’t entirely convinced. "I’ll make it up to you. Tomorrow, we’ll do something special."
A small laugh escaped you as you let go of his hand. "You don’t have to make it up to me, Jaehyun. Just get some rest tonight, okay?"
With one last reluctant glance, Jaehyun nodded.
"Okay," he agreed softly, but his eyes followed you as you and Jimin exited the café, disappearing into the cool evening air.
Jimin, of course, didn’t let the moment pass unnoticed. As the two of you strolled toward the dorms, she teased you with a smirk.
"You’ve got him wrapped around your finger, huh?"
You chuckled, shaking your head. "It’s not like that. He just worries sometimes."
Jimin laughed. "Yeah, well, I’d be worried too if I had to compete with you wanting to hang out with me."
You rolled your eyes but smiled, your thoughts lingering on Jaehyun’s promise as you and Jimin continued walking under the night sky.
--
A few weeks passed, and the days blurred together as Jaehyun, Ten, and Doyoung poured themselves into rehearsals for the gig. Their dedication was admirable, but it left little time for anything else. You had grown accustomed to their late-night practices at the club, often only stopping by to knock on the door just to say goodbye before heading to the dorm.
Jaehyun, in his focus on the performance, had gradually let the memory of time travel slip to the back of his mind, consumed by the present.
But one night, just before the big performance, Jaehyun insisted on spending time with you. He texted you, asking if you could meet him at the club before practice started, and though you knew how busy he was, you agreed.
When you arrived, the club was quiet, an unusual calm settling over the usually bustling space. Jaehyun was sitting on the sofa, one earphone in, waiting for you. As you walked in, he looked up with a soft smile—oh, how much he missed you.
“Come here,” he said, patting the seat next to him. “I want you to hear something.”
You sat down beside him, and he gently handed you the other earphones, getting ready to play the song.
"I’ve been meaning to share this with you. It’s special, and before we perform it for everyone else, I wanted you to hear it first."
You smiled, sensing the significance of the moment as the music began to play. The melody was hauntingly beautiful, filled with raw emotion that pulled you in immediately. As the song progressed, you could feel Jaehyun’s heart poured into every note, every lyric. It wasn’t just a song—it was a reflection of everything he had been holding inside.
When it ended, he looked at you with anticipation, his heart in his eyes.
"So, what do you think?"
Your chest tightened, overwhelmed by the beauty of the song and the intimacy of the moment. You laid your head on his shoulder.
"It’s sad, but… perfect, Jaehyun. Really."
He let out a small, relieved laugh, resting his head against yours.
"I wrote it with you in mind," he admitted softly. "I wanted to create something that captures what we’ve been through, even if it’s just a glimpse of what I feel."
Your heart swelled at his words. You knew this song wasn’t just a performance—it was him sharing a piece of himself with you, something deeply personal before anyone else could hear it. Without realizing it, he gently laid his head in your lap.
"Y/N, let me take a nap for a bit," he murmured.
You knew how hard they had worked, the sleepless nights they spent preparing for this moment, so you simply smiled and let him rest. The two of you stayed like that for a while longer, enjoying the quiet closeness as the night stretched on, the upcoming performance momentarily forgotten.
--
You and Jimin headed to the café, eagerly waiting for Jaehyun’s gig. The atmosphere filled with excitement, the crowd chattering while you found a table near the stage. Jimin was just as excited as you, if not more. She’d invited a few friends too—Jeno and Jaemin, who arrived not long after you did.
"They’re going to kill it tonight. I can feel it!", Jimin said with a grin, nudging you as she sipped her coffee.
You nodded, feeling both nervous and proud for Jaehyun, Ten, and Doyoung. As they took the stage, the café quieted, all eyes on the trio. The lights dimmed, and the first chords of their song filled the room. Jaehyun stood at the center, his gaze scanning the crowd until it landed on you. He gave a small, subtle smile before focusing back on the performance.
From the first note to the last, they nailed every part of the gig. Jaehyun’s voice was rich with emotion, Ten’s melodies carried the songs effortlessly, and Doyoung’s harmonies added a powerful depth. The crowd was captivated, and you couldn’t have been more proud. Jeno and Jaemin were cheering loudly, while Jimin was clapping along, completely caught up in the performance.
By the time the last song ended, the café erupted in applause, and Jaehyun’s eyes sought yours again. You gave him a beaming smile, knowing how much this moment meant to him.
Later that night, after all the congratulations and farewells, Jaehyun insisted on taking you somewhere special. The two of you walked in the quiet evening. You strolled together until you reached the park, the same place where Jaehyun had once time-travelled—though, at the moment, that fact was entirely forgotten by him.
The fountain trickled softly, and the night felt calm and serene. Jaehyun sat down beside you on a bench, his hand reaching for yours as he sighed contentedly.
"I’m so glad you were there tonight," he said, his voice low and warm. "It meant everything to me."
"I wouldn’t have missed it for the world," you replied, leaning against him.
For a moment, the two of you sat in silence, enjoying the stillness of the night. As you admired the fountain's shimmering waters, Jaehyun’s gaze suddenly shifted. His eyes widened, and he squinted into the distance, recognizing a familiar figure.
"Wait here," he said, his tone suddenly serious.
Before you could respond, he took off in the direction of an old man standing a short distance away, gazing at the fountain.
“Hey! Excuse me!” Jaehyun called out, breathless from running. The old man turned slowly, his face illuminated by the moonlight.
“Do you remember me? You told me about the power of music... and things like that," Jaehyun asked, his voice filled with a sense of desperation. The old man studied Jaehyun for a moment before nodding slowly.
“Ah, yes. I see you’ve made it this far.”
Jaehyun’s heart raced as he realized the weight of his wishes.
“I need to understand more. What is happening to me? How long will I be here? I want to be here, please.”
The old man’s expression softened, but there was a hint of sadness in his eyes.
"Every choice has consequences. The memories you hold dear shape who you are. Exchange a good memory with another good memory," he muttered, as if lost in thought.
Jaehyun felt a surge of panic.
"What did you mean? I've already traveled through time. What more do I need to do?"
The old man regarded Jaehyun with a knowing smile, his eyes twinkling with wisdom beyond his years.
"Time travel is a delicate balance, my boy. Every action has a consequence, and every memory holds weight," he replied cryptically.
As the old man’s words sank in, Jaehyun began to realize the price of his journey through time. To maintain the balance, a sacrifice would have to be made. Just then, you approached, curiosity flickering in your eyes.
“Jaehyun, who is this?” you asked, sensing the tension. He hesitated, glancing between you and the old man.
“He… he’s someone I met before. He knows things.” Then, a dawning realization crept over Jaehyun. "Wait... you can see him?"
Tears welled up in your eyes, a hint of fear behind them.
"Yes. Jaehyun, I time-traveled with you," you confessed, your voice trembling.
"What?" Jaehyun's mind raced with disbelief.
"I was confused too at first," you continued, "but I realized it when you knew I’d be jealous of Yeri, even before I admitted it."
Jaehyun's breath hitched, tears filling his own eyes. His heart ached, but clarity struck him as he realized he had to act fast. There were other memories to trade—ones that wouldn’t cost him you.
Turning back to the old man, Jaehyun shakily pulled out a small guitar pick that Ten had given him. His fingers trembled as he held it up.
"I'll..." he began, his voice breaking as sobs escaped him, "I'll trade this. Just please… let him remember the song."
With a heavy heart, Jaehyun made the difficult decision to let go of the memories of producing songs with Ten. It tore him apart, but he knew the memories with you were far too precious to risk. He couldn’t afford to lose how far the two of you had come.
The old man studied the guitar pick, nodding solemnly.
"You have chosen wisely, my boy," he said with a reverent tone. But then his expression darkened slightly as he added, "Nothing is perfect. You cannot fix everything. But what is meant for you will find its way back."
Tears streamed down Jaehyun's face as the weight of his decision settled in. He understood now. Some things would always come at a cost, but he was willing to make that sacrifice to keep what mattered most.
"I understand," he whispered, his voice steadier now, though his heart still ached from what he had to lose.
Then, the old man turned toward you, his gaze softening as he saw the tears streaming down your face. You cried harder than ever, and deep down, you knew why.
Jaehyun, still caught up in his own emotions, looked at you with confusion, unable to understand the depth of your sorrow. He furrowed his brow, stepping closer, but before he could say anything, the old man spoke—his voice low, but filled with a quiet understanding.
"You," he addressed you directly, "you had only one precious memory."
Your heart clenched as you tried to stifle your sobs. Jaehyun’s eyes widened as he turned toward the old man, panic rising in his chest. What did he mean? What precious memory?
The old man continued, his eyes never leaving yours. "And that memory," he paused, "was of Jaehyun."
Jaehyun’s face paled. His breath caught in his throat as realization began to sink in. You had time-travelled too, just like him, and to fix the past, to make things right, you had sacrificed the one memory that meant the most to you—him.
"No... no, that can't be," Jaehyun whispered, shaking his head as if trying to shake off the truth. "Why didn’t you tell me?" His voice broke, his confusion now turning into desperation.
You wiped your tears, your lip trembling. “I… I didn’t want you to know. It was the only way to make sure you were happy.”
Jaehyun’s heart shattered as the weight of your sacrifice hit him. You had traded your memory of him—the very essence of everything you had together—just so he could have a second chance. He felt like the ground had been ripped out from beneath him. He tried to speak but the words wouldn’t come.
The old man watched silently, his eyes full of an ancient sadness, knowing the price of love and sacrifice better than anyone.
Jaehyun, overwhelmed with guilt and heartbreak, grabbed your hand, gripping it tightly as if holding on would make it all better.
“But… you’re my everything. You can’t just forget us—forget me.”
You closed your eyes, the tears still flowing.
"I had no choice, Jaehyun. You were my happy memory."
At that moment, Jaehyun felt utterly powerless. You had sacrificed everything for him, and now he was losing the one thing that had made this journey through time worth it. He couldn't imagine a life where you didn’t remember him, where everything you’d built together had been wiped away.
Jaehyun fell to his knees, still clutching your hand, trying to stop the inevitable.
“Please… there has to be another way.”
But deep down, he knew. You were about to forget him.
The old man said nothing, his expression a mix of understanding and sorrow. As he watched you both, the air around you began to shift, and the memories you cherished started to fade like wisps of smoke, dissolving into the night.
Jaehyun felt the world around him blurring. The laughter you shared, the moments of intimacy, the quiet evenings spent together—all began to slip away, replaced by an overwhelming emptiness. He embraces you tighter, desperate to hold on to you, to the memories you had created.
“No! Please, not like this!” he cried, his voice cracking. But his pleas echoed into silence, the weight of the old man’s words sinking in deeper.
“Y/N,” Jaehyun cupped your face, tears streaming down his cheeks.
You held his hand against your cheeks, staring deeply into his eyes.
"It's okay, Jaehyun. It's going to be okay," you said, giving him one last smile.
"You’ll be okay," you muttered softly.
He cried endlessly, holding you tightly. As the last flicker of your shared memories faded, you felt an overwhelming sense of loss. The love that had once filled your heart was now replaced with a hollow ache. You looked into Jaehyun’s eyes, seeing the pain reflected there, and at that moment, something deep within you whispered that you would always carry a piece of him, even if you couldn’t remember why.
"Y/N, it's me. Jaehyun. Jaehyun ah," he said, taking your hand and placing it on his cheek, searching for recognition in your eyes.
The old man remained a silent witness to the sacrifices made in the name of love. As the memories faded into oblivion, Jaehyun and you were left standing in the void, grasping for something that was slipping away.
And then, just as suddenly, everything went dark.
--
The night was dark, the quiet sinking in as you strolled through the park, seeking respite from the bustling city. Finding a nearby bench, you settled in, closing your eyes to immerse yourself in the surrounding sounds, a tranquil backdrop to your thoughts.
Just as you began to lose yourself in the moment, a soft melody captured your attention, drifting from a nearby café. Intrigued, you followed its enchanting strains until you arrived at a small, dimly lit venue where a talented musician held sway. His voice, akin to honey, wove stories with each note, captivating all who listened.
As the performer sang, you were entranced by the lyrics and the emotions they evoked. The song spoke of longing and desire, resonating deeply within your soul. Entering the café, you took a seat, utterly spellbound by the performance.
"Would you like to order?" the waiter asked, breaking the spell with a smile.
"No, thank you," you replied, shaking your head, though he chuckled in response.
"It's on the house tonight. Are you sure?"
He persisted as you relented, curiosity piqued by the gesture. You shifted your gaze to him, glancing at his name tag.
Jaehyun.
"Alright then, Jaehyun",you said, those words striking him with unexpected emotion.
"I'll have a peach tea," you continued.
As Jaehyun fetched your drink, tears threatened to spill from his eyes. He quickly wiped them away before he could sense it. You sensed the song nearing its end and halted him before he left.
"Sorry, but could you tell me the name of this song?"
"Sure, it's 'Lie With You.' The performer wrote it himself."
"It's a beautiful song."
"Yes, it truly is," he agreed, reminiscing about his time with you.

kinktober day twelve: threesome kink
>>> brain go brrrr! i can only write a stsg threesome i swear it's bad these days. i just love this dynamic so bad and am clinically addicted omfg i hope u all love it as bad as i do--it is officially the longest piece thus far
>>> starring: satoru gojo x curvy!fem!reader x suguru geto >>> cw: mfm threesome, m/m interaction, fingering (f! receiving), oral (f! receiving), spitroasting, reverse cowgirl, double penetration (same hole), overstimulation, hard dom!geto, pleasure dom!gojo, switch gojo, switch reader, squirting, creampie(s). >>> wc: 5.3k >>> event masterlist
he’s not sure when things changed. he’d always seen you in one light, he thought: his friend, his teammate, and a powerful sorceress that made the group a triple threat. you were easy to get along with and impressive to work alongside. you were also funny and had the same taste in music as him, which was a method of bonding during your early years of school. and sure, you were also insanely beautiful, but it was inappropriate for him to have a crush on his classmate. besides, yaga says it’s best not to intermingle with other sorcerers anyways. it would only complicate things, especially as you grow to be closer friends. so geto dated around to distance himself beyond missions and tried to to forget the butterflies your smile gave him for the sake of your group. with his luck, you were probably into satoru anyway.
he’s always been in love with you, he thinks, but enjoyed playing hard to get. unlike suguru, he didn’t shy away from spending time with you. he loved to follow you around campus with his arm hooked around your waist, all big grins and pick up lines that made you roll your eyes every time. he was able to play it off on his nature, claiming that annoying you was worth every extra second of his time. he was all too fond of your amazing skill and intellect, your immense beauty and body for days was only an added benefit. gojo made it a point to train with you exclusively, something that brought the two of you closer and allowed you to see the serious side of one of your best friends. he could never bring himself to make a real move. with his luck, you were probably into suguru anyway—like everyone else.
this delicate balance continued through the rest of your years at jujutsu tech and into your young adult years. the strongest, the curse-eater, and the girl that captured both of their hearts–and connected theirs to each other. gojo was able to satiate himself on his little touches and glimpses of your flustered smiles, shamelessly jerking off at night to the daydreams he has of his precious little girl best friend bouncing on his cock and moaning his name. geto tries to delude himself into feeling like a protective older brother, making it his job to monitor your safety and suitors. but no matter how much he tries, his hand still finds his cock in the comfort of his own bed in the middle of the night, shamefully pleasuring himself to the idea of having your body rocking beneath him and his hand around your neck.
everything gets worse—or better, depending on who you ask— when you all move in together. it was gojo’s idea, claiming his home was too big for just one singular man. so of course he would invite you to come live with him, he hoped to make you woman of the house at some point in the future anyway, so why not now? he extends the same invitation to his other best friend, only because he knows geto would kill him for taking you for himself. the men were close, closer than most friends in multiple ways, so it was no mystery that their shared crush on you eventually became common knowledge. neither of them minded the competition, seemingly convinced he would win your heart on his own before the other could do the same—or in the worst case scenario they would share you! (and whose idea do you think that was?)
but they had to up the ante.
it started small, geto dropped all his flings, even earning a few comments from you about how lonely he must be with his lack of company these days. he always chuckles and give you that suave smile of his, purring out a it’s time i get serious with a wink. he offered to make dinner nightly, making sure the brunt of housework didn’t fall on you since you were already on laundry duty. he always gave you rather selfish relationship advice, making sure you knew how differently he would treat a woman. it wasn’t lost on you, nor were gojo’s efforts.
he encouraged you to take his card and go crazy, often accompanying you on shopping sprees for the house and making sure you leave with an armful of new clothes and whatever else your eyes lingered on too long. satoru showed you his serious side, keeping the house regularly dusted and the floors cleaned, insisting a family should clean up after themselves and not keep servants to make their lives more detached. he invested in your hobbies, letting you try to teach him how to knit, play video games, even trying to do a little book club with you—that unfortunately, suguru was better at, much to his disappointment.
you weren’t dim, you could tell what was happening. you had your suspicions for a while, the two of them practically glued to your sides at all times nowadays—unless one of you was away on a mission, which happened far too often for their liking. you would be lying if you said their attention didn’t make you feel like the luckiest woman in the world, the two were easily the strongest sorcerers the world had to offer if you didn’t take one of those spots for yourself. they were both undeniably gorgeous in their own ways—so how could you possibly choose? your forced obliviousness is the only thing keeping you three firmly planted in friendshipville. though, it’s been more than obvious that you haven’t been seeing anyone outside of them, thank god, and you’re getting antsy. you have to apply more pressure, figure out something that would push them over the edge. you had to keep them competing for you since you couldn’t pick one over the other on your own. aha, you’ve got it—it’s low, scheming even, but you’re growing desperate. you’d just have to dust off your best acting skills and sluttiest outfit.
it was late that night. you knew the boys were still awake, able to hear their laughter from your room. with one final and steadying breath, you peeked into the living room. they were sitting together on the couch watching a movie that was forgotten about as soon as you walked in, the soft sound of your door closing behind drawing their attention. you were evil in your cropped tank that made it painfully clear that was the only thing covering your perky tits, and it didn’t stop there. you didn’t bother with shorts, a cute thong cupping your pussy and sitting along those glorious wide hips. they could die–the effect you have is clear immediately. suguru clutches a throw pillow over his lap, hoping to smoothly hide the throbbing erection just looking at you gave him, while satoru only makes his more obvious by spreading his legs—at least geto tried to respect you. their eyes are practically bulging from their heads, suguru’s lip was between his teeth meanwhile satoru’s curls into a smirk.
“you guys are being so loud out here.” you bat your eyes innocently, twirling a lock of your hair around your finger as you let your gaze bounce between them. gojo slides his glasses off, a bit starstruck as he sets them aside and looks over to suguru, needing him to be on the same page.
“sorry princess,” satoru pouts, patting the spot in between him and geto. “since you’re up…why don’t you hang out with us?” you note the greed swimming in those all-seeing eyes. you force some bashfulness.
“oh–dressed like this?” you rotate your hips a little bit to further your point and suguru has to clench his jaw tight to not groan aloud. “i wouldn't wanna make you guys uncomfortable.”
“you won’t.” suguru blurts out, tucking some of his overgrown bangs behind his ear. satoru nods his agreement.
“yeah! you’re our girl, you could never make us uncomfortable.” the white headed one says, cunningly petting the cushion again. you smirk to yourself, giving them a faux-reluctant nod before striding to sit. your ass ripples as you step past suguru, and his dick throbs pathetically. as soon as your back touches the couch, satoru’s arm is around your waist to tug your upper half into a lean; then suguru puts a massive paw over your thigh, kneading and stroking the exposed skin gently. they’re both so close, the heavy feeling of their hands on your skin was intoxicating; you could hardly tell where one stopped and the other one began. their scents were so overbearing, suguru’s spicy cinnamon and bourbon contrasted the honeyed vanilla sweetness of satoru so perfectly it had you drunk and losing sight of your master plan before anything had even really happened. but don’t worry, they’ll take very good care of you. you’ve gotten the ball rolling, which is good enough, right?
they pretend to keep their eyes on the tv, heads forward like they don’t notice what the other was doing. satoru’s hand starts to creep under the hemline of your tank top, sinewy fingers long enough to brush against the underside of your breast. you hum softly at the touch, only encouraging the lean man to do it again. suguru watches patiently, waiting for more of your approval. you burrow deeper in his side, pushing your chest out even further. he could practically giggle with excitement at your eagerness. suguru scoots closer, sliding his arm across your lower back to grab handfuls of your thick ass free to fondle thanks to your slutty panties. your weight falls back to the middle, wanting to give geto more of your attention. he smiles at satoru at the action, taking it as a sign of your affection. the other man rolls his eyes, leaning into your side to nuzzle your cheek.
the black haired man does the same into your neck, their hands kneading and rubbing and stroking your skin. you lean your head back against the couch, throwing your arms around them to encourage them further with a blissed out grin of your own.
“our slutty little roommate came dressed like that for a reason.” satoru snickers, bringing his other hand to cradle your jawline, tossing a wink towards his dark haired counterpart.
you hum, prying your eyes open to look at him with a smirk. “course i did…just like you asked me to move in for a reason and sugu gives me back massages for a reason.” you muse, humming as you walk your fingers down their spines. they look at each other with slight surprise, clearly they thought you were unsuspecting of them all this time. you chuckle softly, trailing your digits down their arms to close around their wrists, moving their massive hands to your chest, a boob each. you smirk at them. “everything that’s about to go down is only because i want it to happen, understand?”
you look at gojo first, reveling in his amused expression. he hadn’t expected you to take over and become the boss, but he wasn’t necessarily opposed either. it was sexy to think that he had fallen for your trap, and not the other way around. he’d happily do anything that you wanted, all he wanted was you. you arch your brow and he nods dumbly, nuzzling into your cheek again to show his devotion. no woman had tamed him before, but it wouldn’t be so bad to start now, especially not when the woman in question is his very sexy best friend. you give him a soft smile of approval before turning to the real work, geto.
many women had tried and failed to tame him, and he thought it was pretty funny each and every time. but now here you are, his gorgeous lady best friend, prepared to tell him what to do and exactly how to do it. now that was just plain adorable. you could see see the flames of intrigue flicker in his obsidian eyes, a gaze so intense it made you shrink into satoru a little bit. suguru was being hand gifted the only thing he’s ever wished for, but he would still have it on his terms. he squeezes down harshly on your breast, making you squirm. “cute. we wanted this longer though, so. how about you listen to me instead?”
you scoff, looking down at his hand on you. “don’t act so bold now, sugu. if you wanted to be in charge, you should have acted like it.” you tease, and even gojo smirks behind you. he thought it would be pretty amusing to watch you two battle for dominance, though he’s smart enough to capitalize on an opportunity when he sees one. he pulls you against him, kneading your hips and giving your exposed neck sweet sloppy kisses, all playing into your favor. “maybe i’ll let you give out orders next time–but if you want to be a diva, i’ll just fuck satoru—i’m sure he’s more than enough.”
the mentioned man hums, happy to be in your good graces and your leveraging tool. nothing drives suguru crazier than watching gojo get all the attention. geto gives you a look of dissatisfaction, only pushing you to climb onto your lanky friend’s lap, smiling down at him like an angel from heaven. gojo thought he may die right here. you’re perfect, the way your weight feels in his lap pressing up against his semi is so glorious already he’s afraid he may embarrass himself. his hands find your waist, and he’s looking up to you like he has no idea what to do next. he really is so clueless that it’s adorable. satoru acted like a pussy magnet, which wasn’t necessarily wrong since he is so gorgeous, powerful, and tall, but he never knew how to interact with them—especially since all his fantasies consisted of you, anyway. you smile down at him again and he knows it will be alright, that he’ll do what he does best and learn on the fly—he has to make you feel good.
“take my shirt off, baby.” you coo to him, lifting your arms a bit so he could peel it off. He leans forward unsurely, almost looking to geto for approval before he pinches the fabric and brings it over your head. your tits fall from the little tank top holding them in place, a beautifully heavy chest with pebbled buds wait, calling gojo’s name. his face turns red and he looks up to you for the next order, feeling his semi grow into a full blown problem. geto watches you with narrowed eyes, aching bulge straining against his pants still, and you were only making it worse. he curses himself for being enamored with someone like you, an expert in pushing buttons. you’re his woman whether you know it or not, and he’s only willing to share you with his bestest of friends, even if you were grating on his last nerve.
“do what feels natural, sato.” you breathe out, focused on the way his eyes grow at your permission and his tongue darts out to lick his lips. he’s been fixated on you as long as he can remember, and now it was his time to prove that he was the one for you. he drags your hips closer, wanting you to feel his erection pressing into that tiny thong you had the nerve to put on. you gasp in surprise, though a giggle quickly replaces the sound. you rest your arms on his shoulders, content to twirl locks of snowy white around your fingers. he groans at the sensation, struggling to keep his head on straight already. your body is so warm beneath his hands, so soft and pliable. you duck your head down to kiss him, and he tilts his head up to receive it. it swallows up all his senses, tunneling out everything around him to only focus on your touch, taste, and smell. he’s hungry, eager to prove his worth as a lover, wanting nothing else but to make you feel good. he grabs at your hips to feel you closer, and you indulge by circling your movements in his lap. he moans into your mouth as he feels your tits brush up against his shirt, making him break the kiss and lean back so he could get it off. he does it so quick that you aren’t prepared for his mouth to smack up against yours again, teeth clashing. you giggle again, enchanted by his boyish charm and overwhelming affection for you. it was sweet, and even though he was inexperienced, his kisses were full of passion and heat.
geto had mixed feelings. on one hand, you looked magnificent. your body is like nothing he’s ever seen before, almost to the point of unfairness. no woman could ever compare after this. he’d either have to marry you or be forever disappointed. but, on the other hand, you were wiggling around in gojo’s lap instead of his, and that’s only tolerable for so long. gojo is lucky still, if it were anyone else there would be no tolerance at all. but his patience is wearing thin, especially once you start letting little moans of your own go because of satoru’s big hands massaging your tits and his bulge catching on your puffy clothed clit. you even sound angelic, and it’s pissing him off. this was just a display of your power over them, but suguru wanted to teach a few lessons of his own. he scoots closer, letting his hands mingle around with satoru’s, feeling the dips of your body.
you can feel his touch, easily differentiating between satoru and suguru. your lanky friend’s hands were slimmer and warmer–moving around clumsily. your dark locked counterpart moved with more experience, his fingers thicker and rougher. you smirk at his impatience, clearly not able to be as obedient as dear satoru. you knew it would go like this, with gojo doing anything to please you and geto vying for control himself. you didn’t mind—you know it would push gojo to compete.
geto wastes no time in pulling you off of gojo’s lap and into his own, much to his friend’s disappointment. you give him a pointed look, brow raised and all, but you still wrap your arms around his shoulders the same way you did your other bestie. he smirks up at you, expecting nothing but your compliance once he sees how wet gojo got you. he can tell from the look in your eyes that you don’t have a lot of fight left in you despite the way you act, and that’s perfect for him. he plans to make you brainless, able to remember nothing but him anyway.
“greedy much?” you tease, tossing a look to the pouty white-haired boy watching with contempt. suguru shrugs.
“hardly, just proving that he is not all you need.” he smiles up at you innocently, raking his touch over your thighs. unlike gojo, he knows exactly how to work you up and melt in his hands. gojo harrumphs in the corner of the couch. geto’s brow creeps up even though his head is laxly leaned back against the sofa. he watches you like he owns you, and you love the contrast between the two boys. you roll your eyes and lean down to kiss him anyway, and his lips tell you that the show is over. he gnashes his teeth against your lip, making you squeal and open up for him, wherein he promptly shoves his tongue in to smother yours out. your fingers card through the black tresses cascading over his shoulders and down his back as you hum into his mouth. he’s humming at your eagerness, letting his hand drift from the meaty parts of your hips over to the wet patch on your panties, grinning when you gasp. he works his deft fingers over your heat, and gojo makes a strangled noise as he watches you lewdly suck on geto’s tongue. you let your hips roll into his hand, his other one coming down on your rippling ass. you moan softly, prompting him to spank you again, much to satoru’s enjoyment.
“s’fat, looks so pretty when you do that.” he compliments his friend, shoving out of his pants in anticipation of what comes next. his hand grabs around his proud length, pumping the curved shaft for minimal relief. geto hisses, feeling your hips move desperately towards your own release. he slaps your ass a third time, making you groan out and toss your head back, the picture of a perfect mess.
“gonna cum already?” he tsked, though the smirk on his face betrays him. you nod, tugging on the roots of his hair hard enough to cause a little sting. satoru groans, tired of watching and desperate for any form of aid, but you’re too intoxicating to rush. “then cum.” he demands, stopping his touch.
he knew he had pushed you far enough already, feeling your pelvis stutter against his hand. he watches you come undone, digging pearly white teeth into swollen lips as you dampen your panties another level. he doesn’t give you any type of reprieve before he’s pushing and tugging and arranging you for his preference on the cluttered couch. your brain is foggy already, clit throbbing from satoru’s craze and suguru’s abuse. he’s got you on all fours, face positioned over a huge cock nestled in trimmed white hair.
“be easy on her, satoru.” geto warns as gojo gets to his knees, fisting your hair to get your attention. if you enjoyed suguru’s dominance then he would try some of his own. he directs your mouth over his leaky tip, and you stick out your tongue to encourage him. he nearly shudders just from that, and you whine at the feeling of geto sliding his hands down your ass and thighs with his breath fanning over your shiny hole. you’re gagging on satoru’s length hitting the back of your throat as suguru his fat tongue licks a teasingly slow stripe down your slit. you can’t help but pressed yourself further back into his muscle and force yourself down to the hilt of satoru. he groans loudly, giving you a taste of your own medicine with how he pulls on your hair. he guides you along him, amazed at how much better you feel than his hand. your velvet cheeks feel so wet and warm, it’s amazing he doesn’t cum down your throat instantly. meanwhile geto eats you from the back, sucking on your lips and nudging up against your bud in alternating motions, making your head cloud up with dizziness. that could be from the lack of air you’re able to get in around gojo’s cock stuffing your mouth, tears sliding down your flustered cheeks and drool spilling out around him. he’s whimpering, the sound of him coupled with squelching from both ends had suguru grunting into your folds, letting your sweet essence dribble down his chin. he’s grabbing handfuls of your ass, bruising and smacking the fat. your hands explore the lean expanse that is satoru’s body, muscular thighs keeping you steady and flexing abs making you clench around your other friend’s tongue.
“gah, this—is amazing–fu-huck.” satoru whines, fisting your hair as his cock jumps at the sight of you. you moan your approval, pussy spasming for geto once again without warning, releasing on his face this time. your vision is already blurring, pleasure ripping through you all at once. he’s drunk on the taste of you, sitting upright on his knees as he scoops some of your cum out, coating his fingers with the slick. he may be the slightest bit possessive, but what’s his is gojo’s, and he had to let the other man taste you and get just as pussydrunk as he is. his other hand tugs you off his friend’s dick with a pop, pushing his hardness to the crack of your ass. he leans over you, body like a slab of concrete as he extends his hand to gojo. he leans up immediately, and you’re amazed at the sight of satoru sucking your juice off of suguru’s fingers, moaning slightly at your taste. geto smirks at him, settling back to his original spot. gojo grins widely as he wipes some residual tears from your face.
“she’s so pretty, tell her suguru.” he sings, pushing some hair out of your face as the aforementioned wraps a beefy arm around your waist and pulls you to a sitting position against him. he’s so solid, you can feel how thick and long he is against your back, and it makes you tingle with need like you haven’t came twice already. he pulls you along as he repositions himself, sitting on the couch like it’s intended to be used for with you balanced on his abdomen.
“oh of course, our pretty lady is the only girl i see.” suguru croons, pulling your hair into a ponytail just because he could. you look down at his cock, biting down on your lip at the sight. he was an inch or two shorter than gojo, but made up for it with his thickness. he had veins running along the shaft much like his muscular arms, and a dark tip growing impatient. they were perfect, you knew they would please you in different ways, but you had to have them both.
when satoru gets to his feet and stands in front of you, pale fingers stroking his pretty cock, you knew that was their plan.
geto snakes his hands to your thighs, prying them apart with little resistance from you. he lifts you with this grip, lowering you down all at once on him. he chuckles when you hiss and squirm at the stretch, feeling like a hot knife just gutted you. suguru continues sinking his hips into the cushions below and slamming them back up into you, locking eyes with his best friend eagerly awaiting his turn. you were a whimpering mess, falling back against the man railing you and leaving him responsible for holding you upright as your head finds home on his shoulder.
“if i go easy on you now, you won’t be able to fit us.” suguru explains with a labored breath, your walls so tight he didn’t know if you’d be able to take them anyhow—but he’d be damned if he didn’t try. you nod your understanding, moving your hips to help his strokes hit even deeper. you already feel so full, you can’t imagine what it’s gonna be like when satoru tries to push in. “so fucking wet for your best friends, you’ll take us, won’t you?”
you nod vigorously. it feels like you’re floating, every snap of suguru’s hips slammed his cock impossibly deeper. you knew your little act of control would only last so long, but it worked beautifully. if not for you, they’d probably be jacking off to you for the foreseeable future.
“say it, wanna hear it from our girl’s mouth.” he coos, the tone of his voice so contradictory to what he actually says. it makes your pussy squeeze him anyway.
“wanna take my best friend’s cocks.” you babble, feeling satoru’s hands on your waist again.
“and what else?” suguru groans, almost irritated that your pussy fucked this good and you’ve had the nerve to keep it to yourself all this time. his hand closes around your throat this time, trusting satoru to keep you from falling over. you were so pliable and it was such a treat to hear you talk like this.
“and i’m soaking wet for you both, god–stop teasin’.” you whine, batting your eyes at satoru. he’s sympathetic to your cause, wanting nothing more than to shove his rod deep in you and wonder who makes you feel better, not keen to wait for orders anymore, eager to earn your praise. suguru has your legs spread open perfectly; so while geto snickers from your answer, gojo steps forward and shoves his cock over his best friend’s and into your choking cunt. the feeling takes even suguru aback as you cry out from the stretch. It’s impossible, it’s too much, you feel like they’ll break you in half if they start to move, but the burning subsides, your fingers digging at gojo’s chest when suguru starts to move.
all three of you moan. it’s too good not to, your cunt locking the men against each other, rubbing against your silken walls and the bumpy texture of the other’s ridges was the best way to fuck, they found out. suguru is slow, and prompts gojo to go even slower, feeling you loosen up as the pressure of them in your gut only makes you delirious. you’re so loud, nasty moans and curses coming from your lips as their pace increases, the two men locked in competition to make you and even the other cum first. satoru leans in, pressing his rock hard abdomen against you and deepening his angle. he has to balance himself by bracing his hand on suguru’s other shoulder, both of you close enough to kiss. this was how it was always meant to be, the three of you. he gives you a sloppy kiss, his free hand cupping your cheek to tell you how much this means to him. geto’s caught up in the moment, he tells himself, but everything feels so clear. they were never in competition—you needed them both, and he needed you both, and satoru needed the two of you both. then he feels it, a sloppy kiss meant for him, and he hums in realization. it wasn’t much different from kissing you, though satoru certainly needed the practice. you moan lewdly, the sounds of your cunt being stuffed and their grunts and groans of pleasure provide the soundtrack as they work in tandem to drive you crazy.
“g’na–ngh–cum boys, ohhh~” you cry, legs starting to shake in suguru’s grip. they break their kiss to watch you jerk and jump, fucking into you as deep as their hips will allow. Satoru presses his fingers to your clit, hoping to increase your cute little spasms, but what you do instead is even sexier. you push at his shoulders, a clear liquid gushing and spraying over his abdomen and dripping down your cunt to cover suguru’s balls, leaving them both gaping in amazement.
“that’s a good fucking girl, shit” suguru mumbles, watching satoru’s face scrunch up in overwhelming pleasure. he doesn’t warn you, holding your hips down to receive all of his cum, the hot feeling making you writhe and moan in his lap to send satoru spurting too. it’s so much, the burning warmth in your gut, their seed mixing together inside of you and gushing out around them both, making such a mess you’re almost embarrassed. satoru slumps forward to kiss you all over, mumbling out thanks for letting them destroy you like this as he lifts you off of suguru, cuddling up with you—mess be damned. you’re panting, sensitive, and dripping but you can’t stop grinning at your success. suguru rolls his eyes at satoru’s childishness, but it really just amuses him. he’d rather you have company as he cleans up the messes anyway, cleaning you and even satoru up before himself. satoru spoons you from behind and suguru shoves himself on the couch to hold you the other way, content at his display of power over the two strongest sorcerers in the room. everyone settles their breathing and into a lull of peace, the only sound in the room was the forgotten movie on the flatscreen, until.
“hey—i didn’t get to eat her outtttttt.” gojo whines, squeezing your body. you laugh, expecting geto to do the same, but he entertains this argument.
“you got your dick sucked—i didn’t get that—”
“we have plenty of time to even the score, shut up and let me sleep before i use my technique to un-fuck you.” you giggle.

fluff 5 and suggestive 1 with megumi pls
give me some luck !
m. fusiguro. | my drug, my addiction.
cw: fluff, foul launguage, established relationship, canon-divergent, gn, civilian! reader. wc: 572. notes: i love him, also, suggestive will be posted seperately, probably in a couple days!
Every morning was the same; routine. Wake up together, get ready together, eat together. But today was different.
Work called, pleading you come early to make up for an empty seat on a project meeting you weren't particularly interested in taking. Neither was your boyfriend, who was glaring you down as you scrambled around your apartment. You were late, so was he, not that it was stopping him. His arm wrapped around your waist, tugging you in,
"Hey, I've got a mission today."
"Yeah, honey, when don't you?"
You laugh, raising a brow at him. He rolls his eyes, tugging you close as he leans in. Kissing his cheek, you try to pull away, thinking that was all he wanted, a little morning fix. But he doesn't let you, sharp eyes pouring into yours. His fingers tapped against your blouse, expectant. Megumi's arm didn't relax, holding you closer. You smirk smugly,
"You gotta' talk, Megumi."
He huffs,
"Come on, doll, it's a special grade today,"
You couldn't help but roll your eyes, swooning as he coyly batted his lashes at you. Megumi couldn't help but adore the playful smile on your lips, burning the light of his world into his memory for him to carry with him. Your eyes stared up at him innocently, brows raised in expressive curiosity and humor. He loved it, loved how you showed all the emotions he struggled to piece together so fluidly. Smiling, enjoying the meaningless banter, he leaned closer to you, breath fanning down your collar.
"I need some luck, yeah?"
"Mm... and I thought you were so skilled?"
You teased back, smiling as the two of you chuckled, his hand patting your back pleadingly.
"And I thought you would wanna give me a little—oomgh."
"Megumi!"
You laughed at his... interesting choice of sound effect, still held tightly against him. It didn't matter that the clock clicked because, between the two of you, no amount of time could make each other's company anything but the best. You knew you would get some scolding for clocking in late, as if you weren't going out of your way to come in early, but it didn't matter. Not when he was standing in front of you with that stupid half-smile. You wanted to grab his face, pepper him with kisses, but thats too easy and no fun. Grinning up at him, you chuckle,
"what the hell is that?"
"No comment. Please, baby, just give me one more kiss?"
Megumi pleaded, groaning when you just laughed again, pulling away from his gentle arms to grab your purse. Bumping your hip into his, you couldn't help the laugh that bubbled from your lips, making Megumi's phony pout break into an adoring smile. You two still stood at the front door, ready to get to your designated jobs, the rush hour of the bustling city audible through the walls. But it all fell away, like the sound of your laughter was a music sweeter than the honey you always put in his breakfast. His hands run up and down your back, wanting more of you all over again. His eyes glazed over your face, demanding as he tried, leaning forward, to get your lips to meet his skin again,
"C'mon!"
"Better watch out, or Nobara and Itadori are gonna find out how desperate you are~"
He laughs, leaning close, your noses brushing together,
"As if they don't know I love you."
notes: gege could never stop me from loving you. ty for the request!!

Law Fluff // Angst Compilation
Summary: A compilation of Law angst and fluff from my multi character posts (You're Wounded, Brushing Your Teeth Together, Flowers, Type of Date, You See His Cabin, Fighting and Making Up, Paradise, Nightmares, I Love You, You're Jealous).
Genre: Fluff // Angst
CW: None // SFW
———
You’re Wounded:
Sees to your wound without a word, making sure it’s disinfected and bandaged and receives proper care until its healed. Places a soft, quiet kiss atop your head, doesn’t say a word. Makes a mental plan to avoid similar situations in the future.
Brushing Your Teeth Together:
Refuses to share his toothpaste with you and gets annoyed if you leave the cap off of yours. After you both brush and rinse, will wrap his arm around your waist and pull you in for a fresh, minty kiss.
Flowers:
Gravitates toward orchids, especially in darker shades of pink, purple, and blue; they feel a little moodier and less kitschy than the red roses Bepo tells him he’s supposed to buy to woo you (side note: imagine Law getting relationship advice from Bepo). One night folded an origami flower for you, and you liked it so much that he spent the rest of the night folding an entire bouquet, though he pretends it only took him five minutes. He doesn’t actually give the origami bouquet to you so much as he just sets it on your nightstand one day and mutters something about how the flowers won’t need water. He gets kind of annoyed if you make a big deal out of it.
Type of Date:
Museum date, full stop. Probably a science museum, but would happily do a fine art museum. If museums were open at night, it would definitely be a nighttime museum date, but he’ll settle for a weekday when nobody’s there. The two of you will lose track of time going from exhibit to exhibit discussing what’s on display. And Law is definitely the sort of guy to read up on the exhibits beforehand to impress you. Would also take you to a bookstore and buy you anything you want if you agree to sit with a coffee afterward.
You See His Cabin For The First Time:
You don’t know what you were expecting- would it be sterile like an operating room? You’re surprised to see comic books and a few action figures. He has some records, too- a bit of rock, some low-key emo music- and to your complete and utter surprise, a candy wrapper on his nightstand. And then there’s the coin collection on his desk, tiny pieces of metal he picked up on his many travels. You’re careful not to have a big reaction to his personality showing through for once.
“I like your action figures.”
“They’re kind of childish, but-”
You cut him off before he can dismiss his own interests as dumb. “No, they’re not. They’re cool.”
Fighting and Making Up:
His emotional unavailability combined with his protective streak is a source of contention between the two of you. He wants you to be free, but sometimes, he finds himself in a dark place where he just wants to lock you in a tower. But what makes it so vexing is that he won’t even talk to you about it, just shuts you out of plans and operations because he can’t bear the thought of losing you or you getting hurt. Also has times when he won’t let you out of his sight but won’t admit that’s what he’s doing, which makes it so much more annoying. He’ll get mad at you if you do something without telling him, especially if it could be dangerous, which often leads you to argue that he's not exactly known for his communication skills. The two of you usually make up after you’ve been giving him the silent treatment for a few days and he crawls into bed beside you. The darkness makes him feel safe enough to press some warm kisses into your hand and then mutter an apology into your neck. Other times, he’ll write a short note and slip it into one of your books because he’s much better at writing than talking. And if it’s on you to do the making up, cooking for him is a good place to start.
Paradise 1:
Climbing out of bed before dawn because neither of you can sleep, having a cup of coffee, and walking hand in hand down the beach, stopping to bend down and pick up rare seashells to add to the collection on the bookshelf in your bedroom, not talking much at all but simply admiring your shared bounty in the pale dawn light as the sun creeps over the horizon.
Paradise 2:
Waking up to fresh powder blanketing the ground and jumping out of bed, barely getting your boots and one of his coats on before you’re outside, romping through the snow. Falling into a snow bank with your arms out, giggling as you make a snow angel, grinning even wider when he surprises you by laying down beside you and doing the same, letting his inner child show through for a brief moment.
Nightmares:
Bang! He never sees the nightmare, but he always hears the gunshot. He wakes up in a cold sweat, shivering beneath his covers, the taste of metal lingering in his mouth and the gunshot still echoing in his ears. He’s awake, but he’s back in that treasure chest, and this time, you’re the one laying dead in the snow. Alternatively, you’re in a hospital bed, writing in pain, screaming in agony, calling out his name, pleading with him to save you, and he’s in sea prism stone handcuffs, forced to watch you succumb to an illness only he can save you from. Again, he wakes up in a cold sweat, the sheets tangled around his legs, trapping him and making him feel like he’s still in that nightmare, completely and utterly useless. He has to climb out of bed and walk it off, might even train a bit with his sword to regain a sense of control.
Wearing His Hat: He works so hard- it’s one of the things you love about him. You typically try not to disturb him while he’s in the middle of a book, but every once in a while, you can see that he’s not lost in the book so much as he is holding it in his hands to keep the people around him at a distance, allowing him to think a little too much about what’s stressing him out.
You can tell by the tension in his neck and shoulders, the way his eyes don’t really focus on the pages but rather look right through them.
“Put the book down. It’s time for dinner.” Coming up behind him, you give his shoulders a squeeze before sitting on his desk, kicking your feet a little bit.
“Not hungry.”
“Yes, you are.”
He cast you an annoyed look but said nothing else.
Knowing he wouldn’t budge unless you jumpstarted him, you snatched his hat off his head and placed it atop yours.
“Y/n-ah.” He pinched the bridge of his nose. “Give me my hat back.”
“If you want it so bad,” you told him with a small smile. “Put the book down and come and get it from me.” With that, you hopped off his desk and slipped out of the office.
Law glanced down at his book. He didn’t give it another thought, just tossed it aside and climbed out of his chair to get that hat off your head, and possibly another garment or two.
I Love You:
Law is pretty bad with words, and, for lack of a better term, he sort of lacks a bedside manner. Needless to say, this carries over into other aspects of his life, including his love life (or lack thereof; Law has little to no experience in this arena). One afternoon, though, the two of you are fighting because you want to accompany Law somewhere and he insists it’s too dangerous despite all of your qualifications and skills as a fighter. You keep pressing and pressing, demanding to know why he won’t let you go when you are perfectly capable, until finally he blurts it out. “I love you! Alright? And I won’t lose you.” You aren’t even in any sort of relationship at that point, the two of you just sort of stewing in unresolved tension. His irate confession is the tipping point, and you become an item after that. When you hear it from him after that, it’s always in private, usually in the late hours of the night when he slips into bed and buries his face in your neck. Other times, it’s when you two pass each other in the hallway aboard the Polar Tang and he catches your hand in his, placing a warm kiss on your knuckles, muttering the words, and moving along quickly for fear someone might see despite the entire crew knowing about your relationship.
You’re Jealous:
Dr. Law and Dr. Robin sure do get along well- so well, in fact, you can’t help but wonder if they are better suited to each other than you and him. Even if they didn’t have such good chemistry, it would be impossible not to feel a touch of jealousy toward the archeologist. She’s intelligent, beautiful, fiercely loyal, a member of the Straw Hats, and has an impressive bounty that she earned even before she became a pirate. Needless to say, you find yourself brooding when the Robin brings him a beer and sits down beside him to discuss the immune systems of fishmen, a topic both are rather interested in. Of course, you’re interested in that, too, thus the reason Law realizes something is wrong when you don’t participate in the conversation. He ends up excusing the two of you and taking you to bed, worrying you had too much to drink, the thought you may be jealous never once occurring to him. You end up not saying anything (many thing in your relationship with Law being unspoken) and just sleeping it off, the fact that he excused the two of you proof enough of his loyalty.

SUMMARY: She has been loving Thomas for a while now, and it is heaving on her the fact she thinks he still is in love with Grace — she needs a confession, a affirmation that she is not just filling in a gap. It comes in a unexpected night, followed by an unusual morning, but everything with Thomas was like that.
MUSIC: One and only by Adele
A/N: this is the second fic I am reposting from my old account (I accidentally deleted it) and it was from one of my celebrations (200 followers I think) that consisted of fanfics inspired by Adele’s songs from the album 21, this one was requested by a dear friend and it is very dear to me!! It happens between s1-s2, Thomas meets (Y/N) after grace leaves. Feedback is always welcomed!

[MASTERLIST] [MOODBOARD]

“Thomas,” she calls, staring at his back, but he doesn't answer, he continues to look at the field in front of them instead. “Thomas?”
“Hm?” He still doesn't look at her.
(Y/N) decides to finally walk to him, she does not stop in front of him though, sensing something was wrong and not wanting to disturb or annoy him somehow. She stops right behind Thomas, a step of distance between them, from this close she can see the tension in his shoulders better, and as much as she wishes to touch him and try to tranquillise him, she waits. He doesn't do anything, however, not even looks at her, and she sighs.
She looks at the field, too, trying to understand what is possibly happening in his head. But she has a strong guess, one she does not like at all. (Y/N) hates when Thomas lives more in his past than in his present life, for her, it was his biggest flaw; the way he was constantly living for memories and not for life itself. And she feels that now he is probably thinking about what happened two years ago, Grace.
(Y/N) does not care he is thinking of her, that she can understand, after all he did fall in love with her, it would not be easy, especially for Thomas who protected himself with so many walls, to forget the woman. She doesn't expect him to just stop thinking about Grace overnight, but it did hurt, sometimes, how it felt, as if she was living in the shadows of someone bigger than her. It had been Grace's mistake, but she was the one paying for it, paying for the mistakes of a woman she hadn't even met.
She also knew, of course, that it would take Thomas time to trust again, to open himself like he had before. She knew everything that revolved around a broken heart, she did, but knowing did not make anything easier to deal with. It was still hard to face Tommy and see how, even in his most present moments, a piece of him was lost. Sometimes, she would ask herself why she even stayed, when it seemed like Thomas would never love her the same way. But she did, returned to him every single time, hope, maybe, tying her to him.
“Tom, why’d you bring me here?”
Thomas had showed up in her house last night, surprising (Y/N) in the middle of the week. It was not how their encounters usually went, Thomas would see her mostly on weekends. Sometimes he would spend the night, sleep with her to leave only on Sunday morning, sometimes stay up until four pm, these nights they would dance in her kitchen while drinking whiskey. It was all simple, but what mattered was that they talked, that they would sit down to talk and would sooth each other. Everything between them was simple, even love, when it came to their realisations that they were in love. There hadn't been a confession, not from her nor from him, they had just looked at each other differently, held each other for longer, kissed with more passion than ever, and that was enough to understand.
But yesterday was very different. She could not understand what was happening, neither read it on his face. As soon as she opened the door, he was tense, eyes haunted — not like tiredness from work or exhaustion because of all his problems, but as if he had just heard terrible news and saw his world crumbling. When she greeted him with a kiss, he had not held her waist or face, and had returned the kiss distantly. Still, she breathed and let him in, hoping that she might help somehow. He didn't talk much, short answers only, but it was like he needed the attention, needed her to listen to him, so she did. After sometime, she had run out of ideas to console him and offered for them to share a meal together, and for the first time since they had known each other, he ate something. Almost unnerving, but she was so relieved that she chose to see that as a good sign. After that, Thomas just sat in silence while she cleaned the plates.
When (Y/N) finished, she turned around to see he was sitting still at the table, eyes closed, breathing like he was trying to control himself. She couldn’t tell if he was trying to hold back tears or a scream, whatever it was, it was consuming him, drowning him in anguish. (Y/N) moved slowly, getting closer to him and delicately grabbing his hand. Then she whispered his name like a secret, like she was afraid of being caught saying that, because, in truth, she wasn’t sure if she wanted Tommy to hear it or not.
But Thomas did, and he squeezed her hand like his life depended on it, returning the touch with such a force it took her aback. It was not like he never touched her, or that he didn’t show any sign of affection such as holding her hand, but that touch was different. It was acid, burning (Y/N)'s skin in seconds and leaving a million scars behind. Thomas touched her like she was the only one capable of saving him.
It was scary. It was exhilarating. It was a breath of heaven’s pure oxygen. It was suffocating as the smoke on a fire. And it was only a touch of hand.
But it said so many things, it said that he wanted her there, that he actually needed her there. And she was happy with being wanted, but being needed was something she could not even describe, it was overwhelming. It took (Y/N)’s breath away. It made her forget everything else she needed to do, because Thomas was there, all of him, in her kitchen, holding her hand and asking her to be there for him.
With care, she walked until she was behind him, her arms adjusting perfectly in his neck, allowing his head to find a rest in her belly, it was not often Thomas would let her be the one embracing him. Usually, he would be more vulnerable after they would have an entire night together, and he would lay down between her legs and relax on her chest while she caressed him. (Y/N) started to caress his hair, gently as she could, and she noticed that with time, Thomas was melting to her touch, a small smile grew on her lips, but she kept quiet. It was the first time she felt like she could have every single piece of him with her. He sighed as she took some strands of his face, inclining his head even more.
Thomas opened his eyes suddenly, and because of his moving, they were now staring right at each other. Her heart sank with what she could see, his eyes were dark and tired, hurt. Still, she didn't say anything, knowing it had to be him the one to initiate any type of conversation about what was happening, she only kept caressing his hair. After some seconds, he reached for her left hand and kissed it, making her smile again, he stroked the back of her hand with his thumb, and she understood that it was his way of saying thank you. And, in a way, showing that he liked being near her like that. Although he seemed more calm, it didn't look like he would talk, and it was obvious how tired he was, so instead of asking anything, (Y/N) offered for them to sleep. He nodded, and they were quick to go to bed, a simple, but genuine kiss as a good night.
In the morning, he had all of a sudden woken her up with kisses on her neck — like last night hadn’t been so different, saying he wanted to take her somewhere. And yet, even though it was his idea to bring her, he hadn’t spoken since they got in here.
“I haven't come here in a long time.” He finally says something, making (Y/N) stare at him again. “My father…” Thomas takes a time to complete his sentence, “my father used to bring us here, sometimes, I hunted with him one day.”
“Hunted what?”
“A deer,” Thomas smirks, finally directing his look at her.
“You still didn’t answer me.” Thomas smirks only grows bigger at her words. “Why did you bring me here, Thomas?”
He keeps staring at her, she can’t tell everything he is thinking, but that he wants to say something and the words are hard to say, she is sure.
“I don’t know.” He confesses, and (Y/N) could have believed it if it wasn't for the hint of doubt in his tone, as if he didn't want to tell all the truth, but at the same time, didn't know all of it too.
She breathes deeply, she is trying really hard to understand him, she has been for quite some time, but he never truly gives her the chance. “It's that so?”
Thomas and her stare at each other for long seconds, it's not a battle this time, it's not her trying to reach him and him running away, (Y/N) feels as if she is already inside, but can't see what it is, and how could she? When he showed nothing before. She is not sure how to navigate this, what to search, what to ask, not this time, and that scares and frustrates her in equal amounts.
Thomas has these eyes that always make her feel naked, confused and alive. He sometimes looks at her like she is precious, like he cannot go a second without touching her, and she believes it, because his eyes are true, raw even. And then, he could look at her the way he is doing now, like she has just stabbed him, as if she has his heart in her hands to do whatever she wanted, and she decided to make him suffer. It wasn’t true, and it wasn’t fair, she didn’t have him like that, so why would he stare at her with all that devotion and agony?
She chuckles, lowly and dryly, and starts to walk, leaving him behind. (Y/N) doesn't know exactly what she is feeling at the moment, but everything is a little too much. She doesn't want to have to guess, it would be nice, for once, if he could finally say it out loud.
Stopping a few steps away from him, she finally takes a better look at everything in front of her, how beautiful that field is, how breathtaking the view of the sky is with no pollution from the city. The sun hadn’t completely risen yet, some shades of purple, pink, and orange decorated the sky. It looks just like a painting, she thinks, and it hurts a bit to realise that it would be a pretty day to feel good, for her and Tommy to be doing something enjoyable.
What bothers most is that it feels like there is just one last wall between them, and she had thought she would finally have him — but it's not simple, it never is. Thomas has to be the one to take that last step, he has to be the one to, at last, face what he is feeling. If she is the one to do it, to once again try to put pieces together to understand him, it will never change, he will only come home broken and expects mending. She wants more than that, she wants genuine words being said, wants to feel more than… a fragment.
She was afraid sometimes, what if the problem was not his past love, but her? Understanding that old feelings were hard to get rid of was easy, but to which point was Thomas protecting himself from any new feelings? Did it ever become a protection against her? (Y/N) would ask herself, what was he so afraid of? Afraid of having feelings for someone again? Or was he just afraid of… her? It scared her that maybe it wasn’t love and it’s disappointments that kept them apart, maybe it was her. And that she couldn’t fix.
She kicks some rocks by her feet and holds back another frustrated sigh, feeling like maybe she wasn't being fair, that her previous insecurities and frustrations might be influencing her. (Y/N) was trying so hard, to be seen, to be heard, to be loved. Because she loved him, honestly and easily, but had she not done this before? Tried to communicate, to understand? With others that now seem pale in comparison with Thomas, but still, love was a complicated thing. For her, it had always been, since the very beginning, since she had known what love was. It was not just Thomas, no, it would be unfair to say it was only him, perhaps she also needed time to deal with what was inside her. Yet she can't help to think it is different with him, there were others before, but he is the one that matters, he is the one she wants close at all times, the one she still stays close to even with all the hurt and words unsaid, waiting, wishing.
It was Tommy, after all, making her heart feel full and empty at the same time, occupying her thoughts, making her feel like things could get better someday.
If she just had the chance to properly talk to him… to cross all the bridges and understand, maybe then a conclusion would be made, one not based on assumptions she could not fully trust.
Nevertheless, here they are, turbulent thoughts clouding each one's mind. The surroundings are beautiful, the wind making leaves float in the air, both of them with their mouths clasped shut and minds running wild.
She can't see it, Thomas thinks, this time she doesn't seem to see the truth in his eyes. He notices the way she is shrinking inside herself, body almost crumbling, and he walks to her, he is tense when he hugs her from behind, arms keeping her in a tight embrace. Thomas knows she is fighting back tears by the way she lets herself go and relaxes her head against his chest as soon as he pulls her in. He can feel the way her body is fighting, half of her not willing to rest completely.
He never truly knows what to say, he did when he was with Grace, or almost always did, a clarity coming to him when he was about to do something stupid. With (Y/N) it is different, he knows how he feels, and she says the right thing, and he lets her read him, and they go on. Sometimes he has to say it, because she is tired, because she needs him to, or simply because he feels the urge to. But now it feels like they have reached a point that if Thomas keeps being silent, things will end.
Still, for a while they just stay in silence. Thomas keeps his touch steady, not entirely conscious that he is drawing patterns on her waist until she lets out a sigh that he recognises quickly by now, contentment, he can feel her relaxing a bit more. His hands wander a bit further, tracing her belly and up her chest, and as he remembers the night they met, his touch becomes heavier. For what felt like an eternity, he had wished to touch her. It was quick, she'd always say, how they met and how they ended up in a private room. She was not aware that for him, it had felt like a long waiting.
A party that he meant to go for business only, not even much interested in said business, at least not enough to try to do it in person, he had sent John to do it, but he got sick. Never before had Thomas been so happy with his brother being ill. Had he never gone to that party, he would not have met her. And it was a truth, even though he did not say it much, but a truth nonetheless, that since they met, she was constantly taking him out of his stupor. Since he had laid his eyes on her, he felt it, hands pulling him up, making him finally blink and wake up.
It was simple between them, it had been since the beginning, he had wanted her and there was no room for questioning if he would follow her, she had corresponded in the same intensity. Slowly their lives came in between, the days apart, the reality of each one, but even then, she only told Thomas she would be waiting, and there was no room for questioning if he would come back.
On the weeks with fewer visits from him, nothing changed, on the weeks he could see her more frequently, everything did.
Although his ghosts still haunted him, it was not the same as before, he could breathe now, push them away easier. But he had never been good with words when it came to this. To confess, he used words to get what he wanted, to conquer, long gone was the time words served as a way to connect and open himself. Grace had started to change that, easily as if she was a childhood love, she had picked up his heart on her hands. Thomas had not expected it, and when it hit him, he realised how truly in love he had been. For once his intuition had left him, after such a long time creating walls upon walls, they crumbled only to have to be raised again. He had also not expected it to change, to meet someone else, and yet, he did.
“What are you thinking?” She asks, head still resting against him.
“You.”
“You are thinking about me?” He can hear the small smile on her lips.
“Yes.”
“What about me?”
“The night we met.”
“Oh.” She chuckles, as if something suddenly made sense to her. “You were so pretty that night.”
Thomas holds back a smile, like he usually does when she says something like this. “I’d say you were more.”
(Y/N) laughs and turns to look at him, distancing herself enough so they could stare, he is relieved to see there are no tears in her eyes. “I was, but it didn’t last long after I met you.”
Her arms find a place on his shoulders as she hugs him, hiding her face on the crock of his neck. She radiates warmth, and Thomas welcomes it eagerly.
“It wasn’t all my fault.” Thomas says, dead serious, because sometimes she seems to forget they burn together, and she laughs again.
He feels when her body changes after a few moments, her breathing getting erratic, he prepares himself.
“Tom?” It's nothing more than a whisper.
“Yes.”
“I’ve been thinking, and…” something in him is begging for him to interrupt her, he knows what is coming, he can feel it. “I think we should, you know, stop seeing each other.”
He stays quiet, his arms never leave her body.
“Why?”
She takes a long time to answer, and Thomas starts to look for words he can say, things he can do to fix whatever needs to be fixed. He knows what it is, but as her silence stretches so much, he wonders if there is something more, if there is more he did and was unaware of it, that isn't hard to imagine. He feels, somehow, the moment she shivers, her arms seem to lose strength, her embrace weakening.
(Y/N) takes a deep breath before speaking,“because… because I feel like I’m Grace’s shadow. I feel like you met me when you were desperately needing someone to replace the emptiness that she left at your heart. It’s not that I’m the same as her, no…” she hides her face even more in his body, “it’s just you wanted someone to make you forget all the pain. And it happened that I was there to be your distraction. And at the beginning, I didn't care. But now, I do.”
She stops, Thomas knows she is fighting back tears, knows that she hates having to say all of this. Then she whispers, “I care because I’m in love with you, and being someone’s shadow for the man I love isn’t my biggest wish.”
What a treacherous path Thomas had walked them into. He could not deny it what he felt in the past was real, what he and Grace had shared was still haunting him, as his deceptions and frustrations always did. He never admitted, but for him, things like that never left his mind, he just pushed them away, kept them hidden. And still, things did not need to be like this, he did not have to act like that. He did… he liked (Y/N), not just that, he loved her even. A small and fragile thing at first, threatening to hurt him, not because it hurt, but because it made him finally move on. But now, a year later, it was not that small any more, he knew what he felt, knew that he searched for her when they were apart. And Thomas had no necessity in comparing what he felt before with what he felt now, he knew it would take time for something like that to happen again — to be true, he had not even thought it would happen again, but it did, it is happening.
Thomas blinks, watching as flowers and leaves were stirred by the wind, a hollow sound surrounding them. There is so much more he probably doesn't know, more things she thinks and has kept to herself.
“You’re not Grace’s shadow.” He says in a whisper, his voice betraying him. It sounds weak, and he wanted to convey how strong his affection is. Nonetheless, he hears her sighing in relief, distancing herself from him a bit, but still not looking at his eyes.
“You love her Tom,” (Y/N) states, “you’re still deeply in love with her and all you lived by her side. If I’m not her shadow, then I’m a mere ghost of what she was.” She raises her eyes to his face, he is already staring, always staring at her.
She looks at him with so much resignation that Thomas is almost convinced he cannot change her mind.
“I’m not angry or mad or upset about this. I’m just sad.” She says it then, voice low, Thomas knows it is because she is holding tears back. “And it doesn’t matter how much I love you, I don’t want to be sad, to feel miserable every time I don’t act like someone I don't even know. I just don’t want that life for me, even if that means losing you.”
He looks away, not being able to stare at her eyes at the moment, not when he doesn't have the right words to say. It was not his intention for it to reach this point, for her to think he wants a copy of Grace. He knows he has to say it, explain himself, but it is like being paralysed. It's the kiss on his cheek that makes him finally blink, it is the way her lips are so delicate against his skin, a goodbye. She leaves his arms, turning around to go back to the car, but he holds her wrist immediately, (Y/N) stops, looking at him with knitted eyebrows.
Thomas takes in all of her at that moment, the determination clear in her eyes, eyes he has grown so accustomed to, that do not search him unless he opens himself, eyes that love him, tender him. Eyes that he cannot forget even when she is not with him. He looks at her lips, lips that have said the words he needed to hear, the ones he did not want to hear, lips that have kissed him with so much passion that he was able to forget the world for some hours. She has, slowly, found a place inside of him, roots with her name overtaking his chest. Her hair flutters around her face, she seems tired, (Y/N) offers no more resistance on her face, only resignation, but she does not pull away either. He engraves every single detail of her in his mind.
The words are not helping him, he cannot think of anything good enough to say, it is like she wiped his mind, leaving nothing but thousands of pictures of her behind. Of every moment she has used her words not to pry him open, but to convince him to do so, every moment she has held him in place instead of insisting on dragging him somewhere else.
It was at the moment, the sun shining brightly, orange light taking over the sky, making her skin seem warm to the touch, that he finally realised. It had always been simple between them, he did not need to complicate it right now, there was no need for elaborate words, only the truth. She wanted something straight-forward, (Y/N) was just asking for it to be real.
“I don’t want her,” Thomas says, words finally appearing. “I don’t want her like I want you. Not any more.”
And it was true, he had loved Grace, had felt something he thought himself incapable of after the war, and yet, it passed. She had betrayed him, and he still felt it then, sometimes still feels it now, but it passed.
She gives a step forward, “but you still love her, right?”
He allows himself to remember Grace's face, her tender touch, it was involuntary, the care that comes with it. But there is also the pang of heartbreak, the understanding and the sense of finality, there is nothing he can do to go back in time, and now, he does not want it any more. He has (Y/N), she mended what was broken. He takes a step towards her as well, hand tightening even more around her wrist, he wants her now more than he ever did.
“Yes.” he admits, because it is also true that (Y/N) can wring secrets from him. “But she’s past.”
“Is she, Tom?” She gives in a deep breath, “if that’s so, you’re a man living your days in the past. You’re always with her, even when you try to be here with me.”
“No.” he denies, low and firm, “It’s not me living in the past, (Y/N).”
“What is it then?”
He wants to say it at that moment, to confess she haunts him, that his past always does — who he was before war, who he became during it. It is a part of him now. But that is not his nature any more, to confess this easily, it takes time, and he has said more today than he ever did before. Instead, he looks at her, knowing that when nothing comes out of his mouth, that it's what denounces him, his eyes.
She reads him again. Thomas knows, he always knows when she understands. Maybe it is the look on her face, he has never been able to identify what it was, but something changed when she could get him.
“I know it ain't easy,” (Y/N) says, getting closer to him, she puts a hand on his face, “it seems to haunt you, Thomas.”
She is close now, enough that he can feel the warmth of her body again. Thomas lets himself relax against her, his hand still on her wrist, he can feel her pulse now, slightly accelerated.
“I feel left out sometimes,” she whispers, “as if she is right behind me, and I am echoing her words, or at least the words you wanted her to say.”
Thomas nods, “you are not like her.”
(Y/N) seems surprised at that, “what was she like?”
But that is too much. “You are different,” he establishes, firm enough for her to understand he does not want to talk about Grace like that. It's easier to just forget, sharing this feels strange, describing how he loved her — because it would not be just an impartial view of how she was. “And your words too, you do not echo her in my mind.”
You fixed it. Erased what hurt was left on the surface.
(Y/N) squint her eyes at him, he lets her stare into his eyes, lets her understand.
“If we…” she cleans her throat, “if you try, could this work?”
He bites his tongue to say that is already working, because yes, for him, it is, but she is opening herself to him and saying she is hurting.
“What do you want?” He asks, instead.
“You.” (Y/N) shrugs, “I know we can't be each other one and only. But it would be good if you opened yourself more, I cannot always read your mind.”
He must've frowned at that, because she immediately completes, “I know it's different for you, how you open up. I sometimes wish for words, it's true, but it is not what you can give me and I know that.” And although she understood it wrong — he was just surprised when she said she could not always read him —, he was happy to hear that.
Thomas puts a hand on her waist, pulling her and closing the distance that was left, he can feel her now, that smell that calms him every time they sleep together, he tightens his grip. There is not a world where he would refuse this, it is surprising, sometimes even slightly scary and annoying, how she managed to awaken him when he fought so much to numb himself. But he always comes back to her, always knocks on her door, because it is stupidity to refuse her, push her away, only a mad man would do that. He consumes her instead, goes to her house, drinks from her lips with such thirst it is as if he is famished, and it is never enough. Whatever she wants, he thinks, whatever she wants to stay.
She is looking at him with an indecipherable expression, but he cares not at the moment, he will have plenty of time to reflect on everything she said today, to understand her even more. Now, he searches for her lips, brushing his own against her, wanting to feel her before making the real move. He is not one for teasing, every time he does this, it is because the waiting feel as good as the actual kiss, the way he can feel her skin shivering, the way she whimpers slightly — because they are the same when it comes to this, she also has an insatiable hunger. They finally kiss, then, desperate to feel each other, it always feels like they are one at this moment, and nothing else matters.
She is the one to break the kiss, only to look at him and whisper, “I love you.”
Before Thomas can think of answering, her lips are crashing against his again, demanding, taking, and he answers it. He almost chuckles when one of her hands find her way to get under his shirt, but his own body leans into it in such a fast manner he knows he would be laughing at himself too.
Since the first time she touched him like this, he knew he had cursed himself. He knew he would be damned, growing hunger for that, fonder for her. She had scared him, and yet, proved herself to be exactly what he needed.
He broke the kiss this time, not being able to contain the smirk when he saw her drunk eyes, even though he was for sure laughing at himself too.
“I love you.”
She melts against him, smiles brightly. He does not know why he waited so long to say it, but he is usually like this, takes too long to say something important.
“You’re not her.” He finds himself saying, surprising the both of them, “you’re not her shadow.”
She nods, Thomas sees her blooming right in front of him. He feels something settling in his chest, his mind getting quieter, a miracle for its own, but even more special when he feels it because of her.
Please. He thinks as he gives a peck on her lips. Don’t ever say you’re a mere ghost, when I love you this much.
The wind was still stirring the flowers and leaves of the field, and the field was still the same, same as the sun shining in the sky. But somehow, everything seemed more right.

gingerbread competition!
leah williamson x reader
-
christmas music sounded from the bluetooth speaker that had been set up across the room, the familiar jingle of all i want for christmas is you by mariah carey filling the apartment you shared with your girlfriend of four years with a contagious level of christmas joy. the days had finally began to get chillier, the nights getting darker earlier and that’s all it took for you to get into the christmas spirit, which is why you had a variety of seasonal based activities ready for leah and yourself to partake in during the three day weekend you both had.
originally, you had really planned for tonight to be the night that you unpacked all the christmas decorations that you had stored in the loft and begin decorating your house. but after a long day of filming for different youtube videos and tiktok’s with the other arsenal girls, neither of you could be bothered with lugging down the boxes and bin bags that were filled to the brim with tinsel, baubles, stockings and lights. so instead, you went with the second best option. decorating a gingerbread house instead!
leah had been very scrooge about it at first, whining and wittering on about how there’s no point because it never stays up, even calling the whole thing a scam at one point but you had just tutted, claiming she just didn’t know how to build them properly.
“i do know how to build them! they’re just all flimsy, stay up for about five seconds and that’s it!” she defended herself, her brows furrowed in frustration as you stifled a laugh at how much offence she had taken to your previous statement.
“alright, alright. i believe you.” you teased, continuing to empty the gingerbread house kits you had picked up the day before. “i bet i can make mine look better than yours though.”
you knew the leah williamson could never back down from a challenge, her competitive streak was too high.
she scoffed, leaning forward with her elbows on the wooden table. “yeah right. sorry baby, but you have no chance.”
“well i actually have full confidence in my gingerbread house decorating abilities, so.” you said, dragging out the ‘o’ as you spread the different icings and sprinkles amongst the table, between the two of you. “why don’t we put a bet on it?”
“what kind of bet?” she eyed you, and you thought about it for a moment.
“whoever wins gets to choose an ugly christmas sweater that the loser has to wear to the next event we go to?” you suggested, that being the first thing that came to mind.
the blonde thought about it for a second, her gaze falling to the items on the table before she pursed her lips and slowly nodded, her blue eyes finding you again as she held out a hand in your direction.
“you have a deal.”
you grinned, wrapping your hand around her own and giving her a firm handshake. “may the best woman win.”
now, here you were almost twenty minutes later trying your best to apply the white icing onto the roof of your house that had miraculously managed to stay up for longer than fourty-five seconds, after you had generously coated the sides in too much icing. you would never admit it out loud, but leah was definitely right about the whole thing being flimsy. you had almost given up at one point in frustration after the house caved in on itself a sixth time.
“maybe we should’ve decorated cupcakes instead.” you mumbled, licking off some of the icing that had smudged on your thumb.
“i hate to say i told you so .. but.” the lioness captain huffed, “i definitely told you so.”
“when have you ever not enjoyed saying that?” you shot back, taking a quick glance towards her own house that had yet to be built, the woman deciding it would be better to decorate the pieces first and then stick them together after.
“i have my moments.”
you shook your head in amusement, finally satisfied with the amount of white, red and green icing that coated the house to mimic snow and tinsel. you moved to pick up a small bag of sprinkles that had already been opened by leah earlier, looking into the bag with furrowed brows.
“could’ve saved some for me babe.” you frowned, not even a quarter of the bag was full anymore.
“oops, my bad.” her tone was anything but apologetic, an amused smirk sat on her face and you elbowed her gently.
“you sabotaged me? that’s a yellow card!”
“i didn’t sabotage you! i just had to make my house look good, you wouldn’t understand.” she sent a playful look of concern to your creation and you gasped in mock offence.
“you’re so mean! my little house looks great.” you pouted, “would’ve looked even better if someone hadn’t used all sprinkles but … it’s okay i can still win without them.”
she scoffed at that, before the two of you fell into a comfortable silence, aside from the speaker that was still blasting out more christmas tunes as the night went on. you made do with the sprinkles you had left, carefully sticking them to the icing around your house, focusing on the outside of your roof to make it look like colourful christmas lights had been put up. you moved onto picking up different sweets, dotting them around the house wherever you thought looks best, just adding the finishing touches when a groan to the left of you caught your attention.
you raised a brow and looked over, not being able to help the smile that rose when you saw how much leah was struggling with putting the pieces together. she’d managed to get two to stick together, but then the other side would fall down, and then when she’d attempted to stick that side back together, another side would fall down, tangling her in a never ending cycle that was clearly annoying her with the way her brows touched and her jaw tensed.
“looks like your little sabotage was for nothing.” you chirped, revelling in the way it only made her more frustrated.
“shut up.”
you laughed, finally finishing the house before pushing it away slowly, relieved the whole ordeal was finally over. “ahhh, now i get to sit back and watch you struggle.”
“i’m breaking up with you.” she muttered under her breath, intense gaze not moving from her house.
“you’re not allowed.” you swiftly replied, leaning in closer to get a better look at the mess she was making. “maybe if you ask nicely, i could give you a hand.”
she didn’t reply at first, still attempting to finish the task herself, but when almost three minutes went by and she wasn’t getting any closer to completing it, she stomped her foot like a toddler throwing a tantrum and turned to you in annoyance.
“fine. help me.”
“uh, what was that?” you questioned, cupping your ear with your hand.
she rolled her eyes, throwing her head back in exasperation at your immaturity.
“please will you help me build my house?” she asked again, “before i throw it at a wall.”
you grinned, throwing an arm over your girlfriends shoulder and pulling her into your side, pressing a chaste kiss to her cheek before nodding. “i’d love to.”
it took a little bit of work, the pair of you bickering back and forth when leah had accused you of putting too much pressure on it and you accusing her of letting go too soon, but eventually, the both of you pulled your hands away cautiously, giving it a few seconds just to make sure before you gave eachother a double high five, pleased that it had finally stayed put.
pushing it back slowly as you had done to yours previously, you both sat back and admired your efforts on both houses.
“think it’s gonna be a pretty close one love.” leah said, pulling up her phone ready to snap a picture for her instagram story, where you had planned to put up a poll to see who’d win.
“hmm, maybe.” you hummed in agreement, “but i think my gumdrops on the roof might just help me win.”
she rolled her eyes once again, but this time with less irritation now that the hard part was done with. “yeah, yeah. if you say so.”
the defender took a quick snap, moving her phone to show you her screen when not even second later did leah’s house fall apart, one of the pieces even landing on the floor with a soft thud.
“you’re having a laugh.”

Playtime's Over or The One Where Cuddy Forces House to See a Child Psychologist - mskullgirl
author summary: Following the events of "Skin Deep" (season 2, episode 13) House spirals out of control and stops eating and sleeping. Cuddy eventually offers him a deal; five sessions with Dr. Addams, the hospital's resident child psychologist, in exchange for three months off of clinic duty. What could go wrong? word count: 48k my notes: SO GOOD!! such a fun analysis of house and it has potentially my favourite accidental child acquisition of all time
Everything He Wants - the_northwind
author summary: House discovers that Wilson is a better coping mechanism than Vicodin. There's no way this could go wrong. A rewrite of the season six finale and beyond where instead of Cuddy, Wilson goes to House's apartment after the crane collapse. word count: 11k my notes: has one of my favourite hilson fic argument scenes. they're dysfunctional and messy and SO in character i couldn't recommend enough
Hypothesis - IreneSpring
author summary: At the beginning of the month, James Wilson decides to break out of his depressive spiral by having an affair with the first woman who is not needy. By the end of the month, he is facing an existential crisis decades in the making. word count: 15k my notes: haha wilson you are gay (jokes aside this fic is actually so fun and silly and made me LAUGH at the hoops our wilson jumps through to eventually realise he didn't get anywhere anyway)
Under My Skin - rhythmofsnow
author summary: Thirteen has a meltdown. House is there to ground her through it. (Post 5x05 "Lucky Thirteen") word count: 1.4k my notes: caring house my beloved... autistic solidarity my even more beloved <3
Composed - ferretwhomst
author summary: compose verb /kəmˈpəʊz/ 1. calm or settle (oneself or one's features or thoughts). 2. write or create (a work of art, especially music or poetry). or: a sick, restless Wilson finds himself in need of House’s company late at night. House indulges him. word count: 2.2k my notes: SO BEAUTIFUL.... wilson is so gay and so melodramatic and house matches his freak so well and WRITES HIM A PIANO PIECE....... they're so soft with each other idk its just beautiful. please read this
Soothe me now, soothe me, old friend (eng) - culturenana
author summary: Wilson would love to – Wilson would like to do so many things, make the most of countless wasted opportunities, erase every mistake, since his time has shortened without any warning, cruelly consuming itself under every cough. / House holds him close as if he is about to slip from his arms, and neither of them has the courage to discern what this thing between them is. There is no excuse or rational diagnosis that could cover it up. word count: 7.2k my notes: oh my god this fic made me want to bawl its so beautifully written and i have been shying away from post-finale fics purely to save myself the heartbreak but im SO glad i didn't do that with this one. they mean everything to me ;-;
'Samson's Mistress Cut His Hair, Thus Removing His Strength' - Sparklesinthewater
author summary: Set in season 3. Stacy doesn't come back. Tritter doesn't interfere. But the drugs and the infarction keep getting House into trouble anyway. Wilson is trying his best (but his best may not be what's best for House). / Or, House gets himself a girlfriend. Life goes downhill from there. word count: a beautiful 129k my notes: hello? hello!!!! can anyone hear me!! fic of all time!!!! a novel in its own right, and i did in fact stay up till 3.30am finishing it. impossible to put down and did make me want to cry in places. absolutely stunning. would recommend to everyone
a thousand teeth (and yours among them) - itooaminthisepisode (anarchy_opossum)
author summary: Sometimes, when House gets too overwhelmed by his emotions, he gets a little bitey. This is five times House bites Wilson, and one time Wilson finally bites him back. word count: 10k my notes: GORGEOUS STUFF!! amazing characterisation with lovely internal voices <3 they're so them and it makes me so happy
i let you win, i love to lose - sesamie
author summary: a short thing inspired by the thought, "what if amber and wilson's sex tape was ***for house***?" it seems like exactly the kind of toxic manipulative thing amber would pull and bring wilson along for. so here it is! set after the finale of season 4, and wilson and house haven't spoken about everything yet. things are bad between them and that's where the angst in this comes from! word count: 4.6k my notes: this fic did irreparable things to my psyche i mean ACTUALLY i do find myself thinking about it as im going about my day. genuinely was blown away by the sheer power of the prose i'll be honest 😭
we peeled the freckles from our shoulders - flowersinapril

When Wilson goes into remission, he has no choice but to uphold his end of the bargain. / In which House learns nothing about God, but everything about worship, in the arms of his husband. word count: 11.3k my notes: HOLY FUCK.. obsessed and i mean Obsessed with love as religious Especially when it comes to gregory 'religion is meaningless' house like this was so... good. it was so good. house is so desperate and so in love and its the most delicious thing ever

Renovating my room means I'm blasting music through the speaker. And I am also just stuck on Hozier's music (if u don't know him— now you do). So, here are Hozier's music that I think suits the following OP men!
Featured Characters: Ace, Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Brook, and Usopp
CW: Suggestive Content (it's Hozier. Ofc, there're going to be some feral undertones)
Note: I might edit this and add more if I feel like it.
Portgas D. Ace
I had a thought, dear However scary About that night The bugs and the dirt Why were you digging? What did you bury Before those hands pulled me From the earth?
I will not ask you where you came from I will not ask you, neither should you
Honey just put your sweet lips on my lips We should just kiss like real people do
To Ace, you were the one who brought him back to life and away from the darkness of his own mind. There was that understanding between the two of you. Both knew the other had a past haunting like a shadow.
He won't pry. He won't undo the stitches of whatever had hurt you in the past. Let the ghosts stay as they are— just let him love you now. Two people that simply fell in love with each other.
The two of you feel like broken pieces of a whole to form a mosaic in each other's embrace. It becomes a chaotic madness that only the two of you could understand the raw beauty of it.
Monkey D. Luffy
Boys workin' on empty Is that the kinda way to face the burning heat? I just think about my baby I'm so full of love I could barely eat There's nothing sweeter than my baby I'd never want once from the cherry tree 'Cause my baby's sweet as can be She give me toothaches just from kissin' me When, my, time comes around Lay me gently in the cold dark earth No grave can hold my body down I'll crawl home to her
As playful as Luffy can be, he's fiercely loyal. He'll go through hell and back just to have you in his arms. May it be against the world, heavens, or even the universe its— he won't let it take you away. He can't lose another loved one.
He's already done this for so many people. No pain nor torture could stop this man from being with you. Not even the gods can help the ones who even dare try to.
The guy won't die for you. Luffy would make sure he's alive to make sure you're safe and happy. That's why not even death could keep him away.
Roronoa Zoro
You know better, babe, you know better, babe Than to smile at me, smile at me like that You know better, babe, you know better, babe Than to hold me just, hold me just like that
I know who I am when I'm alone I'm something else when I see you You don't understand, you should never know How easy you are to need
Don't let me in with no intention to keep me Jesus Christ, don't be kind to me Honey, don't feed me, I will come back
A man of solitude finally found the place to call his home. Zoro keeps to himself, and yet you wormed your way into his life without realizing the effect you had on him.
There's a silent intensity to it. He's a man of strict self-discipline. He knows who he is. But with you? Gods, a switch turns on in his brain that makes him feral.
The warmth of your soul seeped deep into the crevices of his bones and warmed him from the inside. How could he not need you and the warmth you've shown him?
Sanji
I'd be the voice that urged Orpheus When her body was found (hey ya) I'd be the choiceless hope in grief That drove him underground (hey ya) I'd be the dreadful need in the devotee That made him turn around (hey ya) And I'd be the immediate forgiveness In Eurydice Imagine being loved by me!
I won't deny I've got in my mind now all the things we'd do So I'll try to talk refined for fear that you find out how I'm imaginin' you
Oh, everyone knows Sanji isn't by any means silent with his affections. But behind those honey-like words of adoration? Behind the hands that hold you so tenderly? There's an underlying heat to it that consumes him whole.
He won't tell you— not yet. Too afraid to scare you away by the growing desire in his chest. He doesn't just want you. He needs you.
That's why he'll put up a front of a dignified lover to you. Fawning over every little detail of your being while his fingers ache to feel the warmth of your bare skin.
Brook
She's gonna save me, call me "baby" Run her hands through my hair She'll know me crazy, soothe me daily Better yet, she wouldn't care We'll steal her Lexus, be detectives Ride 'round picking up clues We'll name our children, Jackie and Wilson Raise 'em on rhythm and blues
Lord, it'd be great to find a place we could escape sometime Me and my Isis growing black irises in the sunshine Every version of me dead and buried in the yard outside We'd sit back and watch the world go by
In the vast lonely life Brook lived, there was something about you that made him forget what loneliness ever felt like in the first place. You're just it to him.
No matter how peculiar he may seemed— you were always there by his side. Laughing along his jokes. Even matching his humor and love for music.
You are his muse. And he'd gladly play the ballad of your love until the end of time, if you'd let him.
Usopp
Remember once I told you 'bout How before I heard it from your mouth My name would always hit my ears As such an awful sound And the soul, if that's what you'd call it Uneasy ally of the body It felt nameless as a river undiscovered underground
And the first time that you kissed me I drank dry the River Lethe The Liffey would have been softer on my stomach all the same But you spoke some quick new music That went so far to soothe this soul As it was and ever shall be Unearth without a name
Some part of me must have died The first time that you called me baby And some part of me came alive The first time that you called me baby
Usopp knew that there was this part of him that felt hollow with all the grandoise stories he tells. And the way you would always listen to him as if you truly believed his words made him feel as though he was saved.
Bit by bit, he no longer lived in the tales he spun in his mind. He lived in the moment— with you. All the adventures you two would go on together were all he could ever talk about now.
It felt great because it was real. You were real. Choosing him despite all his flaws and quirks. To have given him the honor to hold your heart in his hands and be the one to protect it.
~~~~~~~
Okay, I might make a part 2 for this w/ Jimbei, Shanks, Law, Kid, and Yamato. Here's my masterlist to check it out!
Vivzepop will always be the biggest issue with her own show if she doesn't change. And i'm not saying that because I desperately want to shit on her but rather because it's so clear that her attitude is what made Hazbin Hotel be so dissapointing after the long wait. The pilot released four years ago and Viv had these characters for much longer than that. One could assume that with this much time on her hands she would have a concise plan for how a series of her story would play out (I can imagine that having an own show is a dream for lots of creative people out there). And I get that that plan might get screwed up by a shorter episode count then expected, but she should be the one who knows her story best and who should know what stuff could also be cut out. The first season of Hazbin Hotel is so incredibly overstuffed with characters and plot that it completely looses the main premise the show was originally pitched with (the idea of a hotel were sinners are redeemed. As it is now the hotel is really not important at all). People have talked endlessly about how Viv can't handle criticism and it really sucks because criticism is one of the best ways to improve your writing, drawings, music etc. Without criticism you won't refine the thing you're working on in a meaningful way. Of course it feels bad when you put something out there you wanted to share and then people critique it, but that's part of pretty much every creative journey, or atleast it should be and Vivzepop shouldn't get a pass from this just because she doesn't like it. And there are great shows, movies or books that are rarely or almost never criticised. But the artists behind these works probably went trough years of honing what they do by being criticised for the stuff they put out. And I don't want to say that Vivzepop didn't work hard to make Hazbin Hotel, but it is hard to claim that she improves in her craft, when everytime someone says they don't like her show she throws a hissy fit. She wants the same reactions that these other amazing pieces of media get without ever listening to criticism. Which she sees as a personal attack rather than a tool that could help her to achieve the same level of writing prowess the creators behind media like that have. She believes she is already on the same level as them, just because she basically shuts anyone out who disagrees with her. There's this clip at the end of a Drew Gooden Video which I think sums up the situation with Viv pretty good (the Video is called "Leaving the YouTube Bubble"). He is talking about Lily Singh and her talk show but I feel like a lot of the stuff he says about handling criticism applies to Vivzepop as well.
(you might have to turn up the audio).
Unprofessional behaviour like that might be excusable when the creator is pretty young or they are interacting with publicity for the first time really. But neither of that applies to Viv. And Hazbin Hotel isn't just an indie animation pilot on youtube anymore. It's now a fully realized show created with a pretty prominent studio on a major streaming network and it should be held to the same standards as other shows or movies alike (not saying indie animation or animation on youtube doesn't have a standard but with more budget and support, there's obviously going to be different expectations for the show now). There have been issues in Helluva Boss and the Hazbin Hotel pilot ever since their release which could've been handled with more time and the new show. But Vivzepop shows time and time again that she isn't willing to listen to people who criticise her, which could actually lead to her show getting better. I don't like Viv or her work a lot. I think she is incredibly unprofessional and she has done her fair share of questionable or problematic stuff, which often leads to issues in her shows. There have been some characters I like, some songs or scenes that were pretty well done, very cool animation and an actually interesting premise on paper in HH and HB. There are things that make me come back to these shows to watch the next episode. And i'm obviously passionate enough about these shows to make whole posts about what I think was done badly and what could be changed. But for the aspects of HH or HB I enjoy, there are soo many more problems I have with it. Problems that won't go away unless Viv stops seeing every criticism as a personal attack. Because if Vivzepop doesn't stop acting like her writing is some unreachable stuff that needs no changes I don't really see a point in assuming that these shows will ever get better.
Falling Fast
Wednesday Addams x Reader
Word Count: 2.6k
Notes: Hellhound reader
Summary: Y/n couldn't help but to bring out her violin once she heard the cello playing in the night. The new girl on campus intrigued her, but little did she know the interest was mutual. That doesn't get revealed until the two girls find themselves in the forest one night.
Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Masterlist
Though everyone would deny it, Wednesday was intriguing. Not in the normal way, the new student was intriguing. Nothing about Wednesday was normal, but for some reason her abnormality was viewed with hostility at Nevermore.
Y/n thought that was quite curious. She never truly understood how even amongst a whole group of outcasts, there could be lines of divisions as such.
Before Y/n spoke to Wednesday, they played a song together. Wednesday had started late one night with her cello. It rang out across the entire school grounds. It was brilliant.
Y/n's body had a mind of its own upon listening to the cello. She found herself just outside of her room with her violin perched under her neck. She waited for the right timing and jumped into Wednesday's symphony.
It was an intense piece and without a sheet in front of her, following along should've been harder. However, she let intuition guide her as she played. She followed Wednesday's lead, and by the time they were done, she felt like she knew something about the girl.
Y/n's eyes traveled up to the balcony Wednesday had been playing on. She found that the Addams girl was already looking down at her. The violinist almost waved, but she didn't. They stared at each other for what felt like an eternity. Both girls held a certain curiosity in their respective glances.
It's Wednesday who turns away first. It's an abrupt movement as she takes her cello and re-enters her room. Y/n stares at the spot where Wednesday stood, for a moment longer.
" Goodnight, Wednesday," the words leave her lips, and then she slips into her room.
Enid is the one to set up a proper introduction between Y/n and Wednesday.
" Y/n this is Wednesday, Wednesday this is Y/n the girl you've been asking me about."
Y/n’s eyes land on the dark haired girl, who seems to be sizing her up. The taller girl sticks her handout for Wednesday to shake, " Nice to finally meet you."
There is a long hesitation in her movements, but Wednesday does eventually return the handshake," You were the one on the violin the other night?"
Y/n gave a curt nod," I was. Sorry if I interrupted, but I could hear it from my room, and got a little carried away."
Enid interjects," I thought the two of you sounded really good together."
The violinist scratches the back of her neck," The cello was definitely better than the violin that night."
" It was, but I suppose you did well, considering you played it all by ear."
Y/n smiled a bit at the compliment," Thanks."
Y/n and Wednesday seemed to be locked into a staring contest. Neither girl was able to take her gaze off of the other. Enid's gaze shifted between the two, sensing some underlying chemistry.
" Well… Wednesday and I have to go, but we'll catch up with you some other time," the blonde tries to drag Wednesday away.
The Addams girl untangles herself from Enid's grasp, but still follows the cheery blonde.
Y/n watches the pair leave before returning to her previous activities.
Enid hounded Wednesday as soon as Y/n was no longer in sight. A lot of the talking went into one ear and out of the other. That was until Enid insinuated that Wednesday liked Y/n.
" Why would you assume something so… trivial of me?"
Enid scoffs," It's totally normal to like someone, Wednesday, even for us."
" I don't like her," Wednesday deadpans.
" You gave her a compliment. You don't compliment anyone, ever. It's a part of your character," Enid rambles on.
Wednesday almost struggles to find a rebuttal," I did not compliment her. I simply acknowledged how complex it was to follow along with my music."
" So you're saying you found it impressive?" Enid questions.
" Precisely."
Enid smirks," And is that not a compliment?"
Wednesday stares down Enid," It would be quite curious if you went to sleep with a head full of hair, but woke up with a buzzcut, don't you agree? Thing knows his way around a good pair of clippers."
" I trust Thing to make sure I look my best," Enid shrugs.
Wednesday groans," Are friends always so insufferable?"
Enid gushes," Awe, you called us, friends."
Wednesday groans once more before the girls reach their class, effectively ending the conversation.
Throughout the day, Y/n's wandering thoughts all seemed to lead her back to Wednesday. There was something about the girl that was infectious. Or in other words, something about Wednesday felt like an infection.
Though the encounters were brief, Y/n found herself showing all the signs of having feelings for Wednesday. The girl was unapologetically herself, and there was something that Y/n admired in her. She wanted to curse herself for being so enchanted so quickly, but she knew that she wasn't the only one.
Y/n had seen Wednesday with both Tyler and Xavier. It might've been hard for Wednesday to decipher, but it was clear to anyone with eyes that they were both interested in the girl. Y/n couldn't blame them, maybe it was some sort of Wednesday effect.
A tapping on her window pulled Y/n out of her thoughts. Her eyes narrowed, but she hadn't seen anyone in the darkness. Y/n stood and cautiously edged towards the window.
" Hello?"
Her nerves stilled when the window opened. Y/n panicked seeing a hand crawl into her room, but her panic was quickly replaced by confusion. The palm opened and there was some writing on it.
Follow Thing- Wednesday
" I presume you're Thing."
Thing gives Y/n a thumbs up before pointing at her violin.
" She wants me to bring the violin?"
Thing confirms this. Y/n packs up her violin, then follows Thing. The final destination was Enid and Wednesday's room. Y/n didn't get a chance to knock as the door swung open.
" What're you doing here?" There was a slight confusion in Wednesday's voice.
Y/n furrowed her brow as her gaze dropped to Thing. The hand tried to scurry away, but Wednesday snatched him up. Thing tried to stay balled up, but a scary glare from Wednesday had the hand unclenching.
" Enid wrote this," Wednesday looked at the woman through her eyelashes.
" Oh, I can go if you-"
Wednesday cut her off," I'm going out, you're welcome to come, but you might die."
" Don't threaten me with a good time," Y/n joked, but Wednesday didn't laugh," Can I leave my violin in your room?"
That's how Y/n found herself walking through the woods with Wednesday Addams. The woods put Y/n on edge, mostly because people kept getting murdered. Whatever monster was out there spiked a fear into the girl.
" So, what are we doing in the woods?"
" Looking for evidence," Wednesday said bluntly.
" Evidence of what?" You pushed on.
The girl let out a huff," The monster or Rowan."
Y/n pauses," I thought Rowan was expelled."
This causes Wednesday to stop walking," If you think I'm crazy, at least have the courage to tell me to my face."
Y/n's hands shot up in defense," I honestly have no idea what you're talking about."
The girl cocks her head to the side," You mean to tell me that you missed all the rumors and heckling surrounding my claim that Rowan was murdered by the monster."
"If he was murdered, how did he get expelled?"
Wednesday shrugged slightly," That's what I'm trying to figure out."
Y/n nodded to herself a few times," Ok, so what counts as evidence?"
" You don't think I'm crazy? Or lying? Or both?"
Y/n stares at the girl," What would you gain from lying about that?"
Wednesday stares back at her with a blank expression on her face. With the way everyone was treating at the school, it was hard to believe that someone wasn’t questioning her. She had made a reputation for herself (that she didn’t care about, but she was acutely aware of). So to her, it didn’t make any sense for Y/n to believe her without any scrutiny.
“ What’s wrong with you?”
The question takes Y/n aback. Wednesday sees the shock on the girl’s face and decides to elaborate, “ I mean, what makes you qualify as a Nevermore student?”
Wednesday sees the girl’s body tense. The silence engulfs them as she watches Y/n struggle to find the words that she wants to say.
“ I’m a hellhound.”
“ You don’t seem proud of it.”
Y/n kicks up some dirt at her feet,” It takes everything I have to control the monster inside of me. The werewolves change every full moon, as a hellhound I can change every night if I’m not careful. Once I’m there, it’s game over. Sometimes I remember and sometimes I don’t.”
“ Have you ever killed anyone?”
The question brings a mask of dread on Y/n’s face. Before she can elaborate, they hear something. The noise alerts the two girls. Y/n is the one to grab onto Wednesday’s wrist, but it’s then that the dark haired girl has a vision. Her body goes limp in Y/n’s arms.
“ Wednesday? Wednesday! Shit.”
Y/n tries to wake the girl, but then the noise from before returns. It sounds closer than before. Y/n begins to look around frantically, and that’s when she sees it. The two large eyes watching them from behind the tree. Her body goes rigid. Everything is still for a moment. Neither her nor the monster move.
She’s frozen in her spot, her mind is racing. With Wednesday in her arms, she doesn’t know what to do. The choice becomes clear as the monster finally charges at her. She drops Wednesday's limp body on the ground, then plants her feet.
The shift hurts as she can’t remember the last time it happened. All she feels is heat, and the only thing her mind is telling her to do is attack.
The hellhound charges the unknown creature. They meet in the middle. The creature takes a swipe at Y/n missing wildly. The fire burns brightly on the hound's skin as it pounces on the monster. Y/n snips at the monster's neck, going for the kill. However, the monster uses its long limbs to its advantage, kicking the hound away.
Then it turns its attention to Wednesday, who has started to gain her consciousness. As it stalks towards her, the hound gets between the two. The flames in its eyes fierce, almost daring the monster to touch the girl.
The monster stares Y/n down, but the hound shows no fear. It seems to assess the situation. It stalks away from the pair. The hound doesn’t take its eyes off the monster, waiting for it to disappear out of the forest.
When the hound knows it is gone, it drops its defensive stance.
“ Y/n?”
The hound turns around to come face to face with Wednesday Addams. The hound lightly nudges the girl’s hand. It wants her to follow it out of the forest. Wednesday follows the giant dog. Her hand can’t help itself as it trails down the back of the animal.
The black skin feels like ash, the heat radiating off of it warms her in the cold of the night. Wednesday is mesmerized by Y/n in this form. Once they are out of the forest, the hound knows they are safe. It gives up the control, and soon it’s shifting back into Y/n.
The change is harsh on girl. She ends up on her hands and knees with her eyes squeezed shut as her bones are riddled with pain. She isn’t sure if she can move. Y/n feels a coat being thrown over her and a presence kneeling by her.
“ That hurts you.”
Y/n tugs the coat over her exposed skin,” It’s just been a long time, so it was harder than usual.”
The hellhound tries to stand, but is unable to. Wednesday has to help her to her feet.
“ You could’ve left me for dead in the forest,” Wednesday speaks.
Y/n shook her head with the little strength that she had," That wasn't an option for me."
" Why not?"
" Because I-"
" Dear god, what happened!"
Y/n gets her sentence cut short by principal Weems. The woman is quick to help Wednesday with the battered girl.
" We got attacked in the woods. Y/n fought off the same beast that killed Rowan," Wednesday told the principal.
" I just need to lie down, and I'll be alright," Y/n tried to downplay her pain.
Wednesday was not allowing it," She needs to see the nurse."
Y/n wanted to protest, but Weems agreed. They led the injured girl to the nurse's office.
" You are no longer needed, Ms. Addams, why don't you go to your room."
" No," Wednesday said simply.
" No?" Weems questioned, but Wednesday didn't budge.
" She didn't leave me behind. I'm not leaving her," Wednesday glared at the bleach blonde woman.
" Wednesday," Y/n spoke softly, not wishing for the girl to get into any trouble with the principal.
Weems' eyes shifted between both girls before an irritated sigh left her lips," Very well then, but you better be in all of your classes tomorrow."
Weems left after that, leaving the nurse to tend to Y/n. Wednesday waited patiently for the girl to be placed in one of the beds. Once she was, Wednesday's gaze never left Y/n.
" Well now you know what the monster looks like," Y/n broke the silence.
" You could've died," there's malice in her tone. It's not necessarily directed at the other girl.
Y/n smiles a bit," You told me that before we went into the forest."
The pigtailed girl’s eyes meet yours, " It was never my intention to hurt you."
Y/n cautiously reaches for Wednesday's hand, scared that the dark haired girl will pull away. She doesn't.
" You didn't hurt me. That thing attacked me."
" It wouldn't have happened if I didn't bring you out to the woods."
Y/n shakes her head," I decided to go out there with you. I could've gone back to my room. You told me it would be dangerous. It's not your fault, Wednesday."
Her eyes are locked on your hands. Tears welled in her eyes, but didn't fall.
" Y/n, I swear to you that I will not rest until the beast is caught. It will pay for this," there's a fire in her voice when she speaks to Y/n. One that makes the injured girl's heart swell.
" If you think, I'm letting you do this alone, you're truly mistaken. We have to protect each other," Y/n squeezed the girl's hand gently.
Wednesday lifted their interlocked hands. She carefully placed her lips on the back of Y/n's hand," I will not let any more harm come to you."
Y/n's face blushed intensely at the tenderness of it all. She found herself kissing Wednesday's hand," I will stand by you as you fight your battles."
Both of the promises were different. However, the meaning was the same. They cared for each other. The fear of losing Y/n ignited something in Wednesday; just as the fear of losing Wednesday ignited something in Y/n.
There was an understanding between the girls. Nothing else needed to be said. They just paired well together. Wednesday was like a cello and Y/n like violin. Both beautiful on their own, but it was agreed that together they could create a masterpiece.
Ataraxia.
Yan Xiao x F Reader. Commissioned piece.
Warnings: Yandere themes, unhealthy relationships, implied kidnapping and isolation. Word count: 2k.
You think you may live in a painting.
It sounds like a romantic notion if taken at face value. The idyllic beauty that surrounds you could inspire the most prose-averse individual to take a brush to paper, creating line after line of wondrous descriptions. Blades of emerald grass, running streams with water so clear one could see the smooth pebbles resting at the bottom, white clouds as puffy as cotton floating without a care in the sky. There’s wildlife in abundance too. Frogs make a perch of the numerous lilypads dotted throughout, fish swim in their crystalline exhibit, and birds sing the same melody as if they shared sheet music.
If you dared to venture to the edge of this canvas, an invisible force would inevitably block your path. The tall stone peaks in the horizon hinted at more, an empty promise. You could only go so far. Out of curiosity, you once threw rocks to test the boundary and found they were granted passage. Other materials followed the same logic. Where they ended up, you hadn’t the slightest clue.
All you know is that they’re freer than you are.
Presently, you sit crisscross on the edge of this elaborate hoax crafted with adepti magic. The grass which never grows or withers brushes your bare thighs, the sensation far from unpleasant, for the unpleasant does not exist here. The temperature is always moderate; the breeze, always soft.
Perfect, perfect, perfect.
So sickeningly perfect.
Taking in a deep breath, you ready yourself for the trial ahead. Delight in it, almost. You tire of these calm waters. You long to see ripples, towering waves strong enough to capsize ships.
“Xiao.”
The intended effect is instantaneous. There’s a culmination of energy, wisps of dark black and green, solidifying into the image of a figure you once read about in history books growing up. Gauging his mood is impossible, so you don’t bother trying. You stare straight ahead, into the false sunset which hides behind mountains that might as well be mirages.
“Did you need something?”
The clipped, almost business-like tone he uses once made you wonder if you were a bother. Time dispelled this notion and made way for a bizarre truth. He acts this way because you put him on edge. You cause his mind to wander in directions he never knew it could traverse. In truth, you might understand why you’re here better than he does. Your scant wardrobe was your first hint — every garment shows a surprising amount of skin. Low-cut collars, skirts stopping over your thighs. Then there was the staring, the peculiar gift-giving, and what you assume to be attempts at small talk.
He’s courting you, whether he knows it or not.
This is something you can work with.
“I was hoping you would come sit with me,” you pat the empty spot beside you. “Unless you’re too busy?”
There’s an intentional lilt in your voice — you let it grow smaller, almost as if his potential rejection would hurt. He has an out, but it’d come at a cost. He’d be dissatisfying you in some way when you haven’t done anything to earn it. He likes to please you, you think, if the countless trinkets he’s wordlessly left in your room are of any indicator. Whatever you pay the most attention to, he brings more of. It’s a silent give-and-take that neither of you acknowledges.
No, you preferred to store the information away for later usage.
After giving it some thought, he situates himself where you motioned. You can see the tension in his taut muscles, clear as day. A beat of silence passes. Now that you’ve confirmed he isn’t going to run away (as he had in the past when you came unexpectedly close), foreign confidence fills you. You’re putting together the puzzle that is Xiao piece by piece.
“It must be getting close to this year’s Lantern Rite,” you give him a closed-mouth smile. Xiao’s diamond-shaped pupils flicker down to your lips, then back up again, his face temporarily giving the impression that he’s in pain. He regathers himself in the blink of an eye. “Are you looking forward to it? It always ends up being such a spectacle.”
Xiao inhales sharply. “It… has already passed.”
“Oh.”
You curl into yourself. Not enough to send any alarms ringing in his head, since he never knew what to do with himself when you cried. The threat of tears is more effective. He shuffles slightly, betraying his growing unrest, yet doesn’t grumble a lackluster excuse and leave. Hopefully he doesn’t catch how relieved that makes you.
Unbeknownst to him, you’re aware that Liyue’s hallmark event has finished. You’ve been dutifully tracking the days in a little notebook he gave you. Bringing it up and being let down is your way of setting the stage. Earning some sympathy, no matter how tiny a grain it may be. For your ultimate design to come to fruition, you must use every resource available.
“I can get you a lantern, if you want one.”
An olive branch. His eyes silently plead with you to take it, rather than scorn the concession as you had in the past, foolish creature that you were. Playing rough never got you anywhere. That’s why these days, you’ve taken to playing nice.
“I’d like that. Thank you.”
He nods, undoubtedly grateful that you didn’t choose to linger on why you couldn't see this year’s Lantern Rite. Your mind wanders — you recall overhearing village wives giggle about how they use their feminine wiles to win over their husbands on sore subjects. In a way, you suppose that’s what you’re doing, but what you long for is such a simple goal. To even label it a goal feels wrong.
What you want more than anything, is to go outside.
Into the real outdoors, not this fake, implausible rendition. A mockery of reality.
You speak his name again, for you know he likes hearing it from your lips.
“We’ve fallen into a good routine, I think. I know I had a rough time, way back in the beginning, but I see things differently now. I feel different too.”
He frowns, cautious of where this could go.
His curiosity wins in the end. “Different… how?”
“I was scared at first. I didn’t know what was going to happen, if I was in danger or not. That didn’t last long though, right? I learned you want to keep me safe. When I realized I wasn’t in danger, I stopped being difficult,” you lean in, gazing up at him through your eyelashes. “Since I’ve been good… would you hear me out on a request? Just one?”
The slightest blush dusts his cheeks at your closeness. “I’ll listen. You shouldn’t get your hopes up, though.”
As if he needed to remind you.
Your heart whirrs to life within your chest. This is it, there’s no turning back now. The outcome of this interaction will bleed into your future.
“I want to see the real world.”
Emotions pass over his countenance in quick succession. Confusion, surprise, and then mild indignation. You’re broaching a taboo topic. He knows it, you know it too. The Yaksha must be using every ounce of his strength not to immediately shut the subject down. He clenches his jaw tight, yet keeps his lips pursed, allowing you to further plead your case.
“You want to keep me safe and— and I get that. I really do. I’m sure that during your long life, you’ve encountered evils I couldn’t even begin to fathom. Despite that, you’re still here, because you’re strong,” in a bold act, you place your hand to his forearm. His muscles stiffen beneath the touch. “It doesn’t have to be long. Thirty minutes. Fifteen, even. You can choose the time, the place. Just… please, Xiao.”
“You’re… asking for a lot.”
“I know.”
“Do you really?”
You fight the urge to shrink back at the sharp inflection in his voice. Sensing this, he sighs, tearing his gaze from you and staring ahead. “If it’s a change in scenery you want, I can manage that. So long as it’s in here.”
Another olive branch. Held out more tentative than the last, above an ever-growing pile you yearn to incinerate.
“That isn’t what I want,” you say, licking your dry lips. This gets him to look at you again — out of the corner of his eye, but you digress — an idea forming as a result. If anything remains of your pride, surely this next query will do away with it. “If you do this for me… maybe you can get something out of it.”
You press the swell of your chest against his arm. He snaps his head in your direction, the blush that’s ever-present on his face whenever you’re around spreading to his ears. Touching him feels wrong. Repulsive, even. You’re giving him what he wants when he’s taken everything from you. Freedom, autonomy, and any chances at a regular life; these essential tenets will never be yours again. You have to barter for their cheap imitation.
“I can smile more. Wear whatever you’d like. I can welcome you when you come home after a long day, run to embrace you, wipe the remnants of blood off your face. I’d dote on you and you could dote on me. I’ll let you. You can hold me to this.”
A shaky hand rises to cup your face. You will yourself to stay still, to prove your resolve, no matter how nauseating it is to be in physical contact with him. He’s fixating on your lips again. The air around him is thick — a consequence of his karmic debt — which causes your ears to ring and your head to ache from pressure.
“I didn’t bring you here for that.”
You wonder if that was intended to convince you or himself.
“I made this place for you. Nothing can go wrong here, there’s no risk of you being harmed. Mortals… mortals are fragile. It takes almost nothing for you to get hurt, or sick… and then…”
He can’t bring himself to finish the sentence, but he doesn’t need to.
You’re losing him. Losing the chance for a rough gale to take your breath away, or witness a thunderstorm with booming thunder and threatening clouds. This isn’t living, this is existing. Trapped within a frame where everything is in perpetual stasis. Nothing grows, nothing changes, it remains as it has been and always will be. Your mortal existence he goes to such lengths to coddle isn’t meant for this.
In the distance, a finch sings. You’ve heard the song enough to commit it to heart. Without the passing of seasons, the wildlife never changes. The stars don’t reveal new constellations. The moon is always full. The frogs sit in the same place, the fish move in a predictable loop. Once you start noticing these details, you’re cursed to catch them everywhere.
“I’ll still get you the lantern,” he reluctantly draws away from you. “You can release it here.”
You look up at the sky. At this time of day, there’s always a cloud that looks like a silly little mouse. You found it cute at first. Then you saw it again the following day. Then the next. And each day after that.
You hug your knees to your chest. “Don’t bother. There wouldn’t be a point.”
He quietly says your name and you ignore him.
You don’t know why he’s sticking around. Whenever he’s upset you before, he’d leave at the first opportunity, rightfully finding the situation beyond his abilities. Is it because he got so close to what he truly wants, the ugly truth hidden deep beneath his claim of keeping you safe? You’d prefer it if he came to grips with the fact. Then he wouldn’t have to bother with all the lies. He isn’t very good at it, anyway.
“You said you can change the scenery here, right?”
He nods.
“Please get rid of the birds, then,” you mumble. “I don’t think I can take hearing them for much longer.”
Xiao considers you for a long moment. “Alright. If that’s what you want.”
It isn’t, but if you’re forced to occupy this constructed wonderland, it might as well look as barren as it feels.
After Penny & Wayne, shortly after the condom incident, she overhears you and eddie having sex so you leave that one for eddie to deal with.
inspired by the tiktoks of parents coming up with excuses for the noises and the slapping sounds 🙈
you guys are so freaking funny, a follow up to the condom incident lmao I'm calling this one
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖-𝐖-𝐄𝐬
(dad!eddie munson x mom!reader)
The question comes at breakfast, both Penny and Eddie are chowing down on cereal while Wayne plays with his food in his high chair, chewing too long on a soggy piece of waffle. Eddie’s busy shoveling his sugary cereal down, eyes scanning over a potential contract Robin had already looked over for him. It’s nothing huge but it’s something, and you’ve been encouraging him to pursue music a little more, do something that makes him happier than tuning up cars–and he really does love it, it just gets annoying real fast; a side hobby he forced into a job. Took the enjoyment out of it.
Penny’s been staring at him all morning, glaring at him through her lashes with a firm scowl on her face. You’d noticed it when you got her up and ready, but she didn’t respond to your ‘why so glum, chum?’ with much enthusiasm, just pouted and you’d briefly been able to kiss it away. Then you’d sat her down for breakfast with her dad while you disappeared back to your bedroom to continue getting ready and the scowl returned.
Eddie reaches for his coffee–also crammed with creamers and sugar–and just so happens to glance Penny’s way when he notices the death glare directed at him. He’s taken aback, leaning into his seat.
Neither of them say anything, just stare (in Penny’s case, glare) at each other. Eddie slowly reaches for his spoon, gathers the last bites of his cereal and is about to shovel it into his mouth just as you come out of your room, adjusting an earring and Penny grits out between her teeth. “Why. Did. You. Hurt. Mommy.”
You frowned and so did Eddie, the both of you exchanging looks of confusion. “What are you talking about, Sweet Pea?” Eddie asks, popping the spoonful in his mouth.
“I heard you hurting mommy in your room last night. She was crying and you told her she was a bad girl!” Eddie chokes, pounding on his chest with a closed fist as he attempts to dislodge the cereal he’d accidentally inhaled from his throat. You catch on pretty quickly to where this conversation is going so you start packing up your purse, lips pursed and just shy of a whistle to seem inconspicuous and not draw attention to yourself. Eddie coughes a couple more times, having finally swallowed his cereal and beat death. He was panting from the exertion and rush of it, eyes wide in horror, “WHAT?!” “Mommy is not a bad girl! Mommy is good! Mommy is a good mommy and you better stop being mean to her and hurting her or–or–or else!” The five year old packs a surprisingly large amount of malice in the threat, pointing her spoon at her dad menacingly. You barely manage to keep yourself from laughing, rolling your lips as you move around the table to kiss Penny and Wayne’s curly heads.
“OKAY! Mama’s gotta go to work. I’ll see you two later, okay? I love you so much!”
Eddie’s staring at you, mouth dropped open with a glint of amusement in his eyes. You’re not really gonna leave him with this conversation, right? Right? Baby? You lean over the table to press a kiss to his lips, it’s firm and briefly distracts Eddie until you pull just a little aways, red lips curling into a smirk as you whisper, “Have fun.”
Then you practically run out the door, leaving him flabbergasted, a little turned on, and at the mercy of a five year old who’d accidentally overheard the two of you going at it the previous night and was demanding an explanation.
See, this is why he didn’t regret giving it to you that hard. You were, indeed, a bad girl. And you’d be getting it later. “WELL–UH?” Penny snapped and Eddie closed his eyes, tilting his head up to the ceiling.
“Okay, Sweet pea. I wasn’t hurting your mom,” If he was hurting you, it was a good hurt. You’d made that clear. “Uh, we just…we play pretend.”
Penny’s unamused stare and pout on her lips conveyed her disbelief in his explanation and he sighed, running his hands over his face as he prepared for the dreadful conversation.
“Alright, kid. When a daddy and mommy love each other, they like to wrestle.”
“Like on TVs?” “Yeah. And because your dad is super cool and the best wrestler your mom has ever been with–I mean, gone up against, she tries to do that thing where she fakes being hurt so I let my guard down and she can tackle me, get the upper hand.” “Oh,” Is all Penny says, eyebrows unpinching as she purses her lips making them duck like. “Did she get you?”
Eddie raises an eyebrow, tip of his tongue swirling around his canine tooth, “Towards the end, yeah. She pinned me pretty good.” Yeah, you were so gonna get it. You'd be . . . brawling tonight and there was no way he'd be letting you up.
Picking up Pieces - Chapter 2 (18+)
Blade X Reader - Modern AU
He was gonna be your neighbor, you wouldn’t have anything to do with him aside from maybe an occasional passing in the hallway. Unfortunately, you’ve forgotten how thin the walls in the building truly were and days and nights became blurred as you - unwillingly - had to listen to everything happening beyond these walls. Until one day, everything went silent.
Based on this prompt
Warnings/Tags: Explicit/18+, masturbation, Blade is still in a relationship with Dan Heng, female reader, no cheating or anything of the sorts
Words: 3.3k
Status: 2/4 chapters (14k words altogether)
Read it on AO3
You barely heard anything the next day after work. Once you came home, tended to your chores and prepared dinner you occasionally heard laughter or the sounds of music or the TV but it got drowned out as soon as you turned on videos on your computer.
That changed once the night came.
As quiet as your apartment was when you went to bed it made it all the easier to hear what went on outside on the streets.
Or in your new neighbor’s apartment.
You knew you shouldn’t get irritated. They were in love, they were happy, they were in their own home. They could do whatever they wanted. Be it playing video games until late into the night - because you definitely heard gunshots followed by exclamations of winning something - or… other things.
But Aeons, it was Wednesday night. Didn’t they have work in the morning? Couldn’t they at least try to keep it down a bit? At least at this hour?
Aside from that, you truly didn’t need to hear all that.
You pulled the blanket over your head and groaned. You really didn’t want to spend the night on the couch again.
Work on Thursday was uneventful aside from the usual gossip with the girls in the kitchen. You would have to invite them over again some day. It’s been a while after all. For all the teasing you threw at each other they were everything to you. They deserved to be invited over. Especially after they were the only reason your mood wasn’t below zero after getting too little sleep once again.
At least it was almost Friday and you had no work on the weekend. Just one more day to go.
You changed into some more comfortable clothes once you got home and grabbed your keys real quick. As exhausted as you were you’ve forgotten to bring in the mail when you arrived.
The mailboxes for the entire building were on the ground floor on the right wall once one entered the building. The white almost square shaped boxes almost disappeared among the wall if the white paint hadn’t been so dirty from many, many years of not being cleaned or replaced. You didn’t mind it, after living here for years you’ve kinda grown fond of its very own and unique charm, even though it took you years to memorize which of these mail boxes was yours because the name tags were almost invisible as tiny as they were…
You strolled down the stairs, your mood much better than before now that the weekend was upon you.
Yet, you paused as soon as the mail boxes came into view and you caught sight of your new neighbor - Blade - in front of them. You ignored how your heart seemed to skip a beat.
He had his back to you so he didn’t notice you as he reached for his mail. He had long hair, you didn’t notice the few times you’ve seen him before. The long strands fell down his back as untamed as the bangs in his face, fading into a subtle magenta at its ends.
He wore a looser shirt this time and sweatpants. Still, the material stretched over his shoulders, while it pooled loosely around his waist. The contrast was… something. You could easily wrap your arms around that waist but probably struggle to do the same with his shoulders.
You shook your head and made a face, grossed out by your own thoughts. Thank the Aeons he neither saw you nor could read your mind.
As you stepped next to him and pulled out your key, you caught sight of the same jade pendant you saw on Dan Heng the other day dangling from his bunch of keys.
This guy’s really smitten with him, huh?
As if you didn’t already know that given their nightly… how did Gui call it? Right, entertainment.
“Had fun last night?” You didn’t intend for it to be this snarky but the words slipped out before you could stop them. You blamed it on your lack of sleep. And his attitude.
“What is it to you?”
His deep voice sounded calm, as if the situation didn’t matter to him at all. It didn’t even seem to upset him that you knew or complained about it, just utter indifference. The way he looked at Dan Heng the other day made you think he was at least capable of being considerate but apparently that only applied to his boyfriend, definitely not you.
“I live next door? And the walls are paper thin? It’s not too much to ask to be more considerate of your neighbors who can’t afford to lose sleep all the time because you can’t keep it down.”
That was harsh and internally you flinched at your own words. An apology danced on the tip of your tongue but when his gaze, piercing and intense, caught yours it made your breath hitch in your throat.
“It ain’t your business,” he said with such a calm voice that it didn’t fit the fire in his eyes. Nor did it match the smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.
He closed the mailbox and left before you could say anything in response.
You muttered something under your breath as you grabbed your own mail and went upstairs again.
How has this guy been capable of looking at Dan Heng - or anyone for that matter - as if he was the most precious thing in the world?
He seemed like an arrogant jerk to you.
Did you overdo it? Yeah, maybe. You didn’t have to be so snarky about it and of course it was none of your business, he was right about that one, but if it affected your day and night like this, didn’t you have the right to complain?
At best it was inconsiderate, at worst utterly rude behavior.
It also was beyond you that they weren’t ashamed in the slightest bit knowing you could hear it all. Blade knew that you were aware of it after all. In an odd way this indifference to what other people thought was remarkable.
You should’ve known that you wouldn’t be able to escape them that night.
Your words didn’t do anything earlier today and you couldn’t blame them. You were too harsh and snapped instead of being mature about it.
You pulled the blanket over your head and while it muffled the voices and sounds a bit, it didn’t do anything against the thudding against the wall. It was almost comical… If it didn’t steal another night of your sleep.
You groaned in frustration. This couldn’t go on. You would have to try a different approach. Maybe that could help.
When you got home from work the next day you didn’t even go to your own apartment, but instead knocked on his door before you could change your mind. You were too tired to argue or deal with any frustration, so maybe a few words would do something.
The guy opened the door eventually. Though, when he saw you, he crossed his arms over his chest and leaned against the door frame with his hips. You couldn’t fathom how your mind couldn’t decide if he was utterly hot like this or intimidating in the way he stared you down with those red eyes.
“What do you want?” Again, such a calm voice. If he was angry or frustrated he didn’t let it show at all.
“I’m sorry about yesterday, I,” you paused, looking for the right words, “the walls truly are thin and I have to get up early in the morning. Is it not possible for you to please be a bit more considerate at night?”
You genuinely just wanted a peaceful night.
Blade looked at you without moving a muscle. Nothing in his gaze or posture gave you any insight to what he was thinking.
“I’m not making promises.”
“I… Thank you.”
He closed the door without saying another word.
That was… Better than you had anticipated. Probably the most you could’ve expected too. You heaved a sigh of relief and went home.
When you tended to your chores you were already looking forward to a lazy Friday evening and a quieter night.
You only got half of that.
Wrapped up in your blanket and a cup of wine you spent your evening relaxing on the couch watching a movie and random videos on the internet you found interesting and chatting with the girls during it.
Whatever happened beyond your walls didn’t reach your ears nor did it matter.
Eventually, however, the lack of sleep and the late hour did take their toll on you. When you began dozing off on your couch you gave in, dragging yourself into your bedroom and hoping for the best.
A dull thud sounded against the wall and rose you from your sleep. You groaned and blinked in the pale moonlight falling in from the windows. Your clock let you know you didn’t sleep for more than two hours. Frustrated you rubbed your face with your hands.
Blade said he wouldn’t make any promises and they’ve been quieter the whole evening… You buried your face in your pillow.
At least it was Friday and you didn’t have to wake up early tomorrow morning.
In the stillness of your bedroom you could hear way too much. The squeaking of the bed, the thud whenever the frame was pushed against the wall, sometimes a moan… Yes, like that one right there, hoarse and sensual and-
Your eyes widened.
That was way too close. As if… he was right by the wall. You pulled the blanket over your head but it didn’t drown out the noise completely. Another moan… followed by voices talking, nothing you could make out… It ended in a groan that definitely belonged to that guy and it made your face flush.
Was he doing that on purpose? Or did he already forget your comment and he truly didn’t give a damn at all if anyone heard them? Did you just get lucky because it was Friday and they didn’t have the stress of having to wake up earlier too? Was Dan Heng aware of this issue? He made the impression that he would care and keep it down for the sake of others, but you didn’t know him at all in the end…
Ugh…
You clutched the blanket in your hands. You couldn’t believe this.
You closed your eyes, tried to fall asleep again but another groan made you jolt.
What happened that he would make such a noise? What would he look like right now? Would his red eyes glow in the dark, clouded by lust as they stared at his partner… Would his face contort with pleasure as he slid inside of them… Would he moan like that into their ear? Or did he try to hide his own sounds until it all became too much and he’d throw his head back, dark, untamed hair sticking to his pale skin-
You groaned into your pillow, but this time the frustration was of an entirely different nature.
This couldn’t be happening. You were not imagining how that guy would behave and what he would look like during sex?
Certainly, you were better than this. You weren’t desperate enough to let your thoughts run wild like this. You would not indulge in stupid fantasies about a man who was nothing but rude to you and who was in a relationship.
No way.
Still, the sticky and damp feeling between your legs was impossible to deny, but somehow you managed to resist giving in to provide some relief for the throbbing.
Buried beneath your blankets you eventually fell asleep, praying that those deep red eyes wouldn’t haunt you in your dreams.
They didn’t.
Then again, you didn’t remember any dream at all, so who knew what your brain has come up with during the night.
Your Saturday went by uneventful. Chores, running errands, going for a run, being on the phone with Guinaifen for… well, probably an hour or two, you didn’t check the time, before preparing dinner and enjoying the rest of your day off lazing around at home.
You found yourself staring at the ceiling of your bedroom.
You traced the subtle texture of it with your eyes, tried to find patterns with how the pale moonlight illuminated it, attempted to distract you from your neighbor enjoying his Saturday night.
And you knew you didn’t have a right to complain on the weekend. You’d be happy if your neighbors were tolerant of your activities on the weekend too(well, as long as there were any to begin with).
But the image of red eyes burning with passion and the sound of deep moans, voice hoarse and low, haunted your mind with every breath.
You told yourself you didn’t need this, that you didn’t want this. It felt so wrong and inappropriate. He’s never given you the time of day, none of your encounters has been friendly, and he was in a relationship with someone.
None of this was right.
Yet, you didn’t manage to keep your hand from slipping into your panties.
As your fingers made contact with the wetness between your legs, your hips bucked, a silent gasp on your lips.
When you heard a faint moan from beyond your walls you felt a tingle in your spine. Dammit…
Your eyes fell shut as you tried to keep your own voice down, the last thing you wanted was for them to hear you, as you slid your fingers between your folds and over your clit. The feeling of pleasure and relief felt incredible.
And when you opened your eyes and stared at the ceiling of your bedroom, you almost managed to convince yourself that this was only natural. Nothing wrong with getting turned on by such sounds and maybe it’s just been too long since you indulged yourself.
But as soon as your eyes fell shut again because the friction felt just too good, you met deep red eyes and a body, all pale skin and muscles flexing, looming above you.
Your fingers began to move faster. And with each new surge of pleasure surging through your body the shame became less and less relevant.
Would he grab your hair? Pull your head back and expose your neck to his lips and tongue? He seemed like he would-
The sound of your own slick mingled with the faint sounds from beyond the walls and you applied just a bit more pressure on your clit.
He would probably enjoy bending you over, the couch, the table, against the wall… With his hands on your waist. How big his hands were would give him an easy time to handle your body the way he wanted, keeping you in place as he ground against your ass…
Heat flooded your mind and body and pooled deep in your core, as you circled and rubbed your clit with your fingers while your other hand cupped your breast, pulling and pinching your nipple and you couldn’t help the moan leaving your lips, muffled by how you pressed your face into your pillow. How were you already this close?
Would he leave you clothed? He would probably pull your pants down and your panties aside just enough to push himself between your thighs and to slide inside of you. He would fuck you like this, take what he wanted, his grip on your waist almost bruising-
You bit your lip to keep any sounds from escaping as your hand moved faster all on its own, chasing that high, that relief that was so much within reach already.
Would he lean over your back? His lips on your neck, the ghost of teeth on your shoulders as his ragged breaths fanned over you, a hoarse groan in your ear-
You came with a silent moan on your lips, your body twitching and spasming as the bliss and relief washed over you. Once the sensations slowly ebbed away and left behind a feeling of calm and contentment, you lay there, catching your breath.
You were certain, eventually the guilt and shame would return, but for now, neither of them could reach you as you fell into a restful sleep.
It did return.
But only days later, after you have caught yourself masturbating again to the sounds of him having sex with his boyfriend on a weekday, resulting in even less sleep than before.
However, the shame turned into anger the moment you saw Blade in the hallway of the building when you got home from work and saw him pulling out his keys from his pocket. He wore a leather jacket today and you cursed your own mind when it screamed how much it suited him. You clenched the strap of your bag.
The anger was entirely on you, you realize that, but that didn’t keep it from spilling over your lips regardless.
You hated how you touched yourself because of him, how just hearing a moan from him - faint and muffled by the wall - turned you on to the point that you couldn’t help yourself. You disdained how his image and fantasies involving him made you come so quickly, how almost every thought when you weren’t at work so easily revolved around him…
Even now, seeing him made your blood boil and you couldn’t tell if you wanted to punch him or drop to your knees to turn these fantasies into a reality.
Aeons, it sounded pathetic, even to your own ears.
“I wonder if I can get some proper sleep tonight for a change,” you said. It was passive aggressive as hell and you cringed at yourself internally but the words already hung in the air between you.
You didn’t even look at him as you stepped past him and opened your bag to dig out your keys, but you could feel his gaze turn to you.
“Stop listening then.”
Your ears felt hot, both in anger and the embarrassment of the implication. He didn’t know what you’ve been doing these past few nights whenever they had their fun together but his words made you feel as if he caught you in the act.
“Well, you’re not giving me much of a choice, right?” You lowered your bag and glared at him.
Something flashed in his eyes. Something darker. And before your mind caught on he was in front of you, your back against your door, his forearm against the wall next to you, caging you.
He had his hands clenched into fists and the glance in his eyes and his furrowed brows spoke of a frustration that wasn’t evident in his voice.
You swallowed. For a moment you didn’t dare to breathe as he kept you trapped.
“Stay out of my business. If it bothers you this much, move,” he said. He stared you down and you felt even smaller than you already were and yet, you couldn’t avert your gaze from him.
A moment passed, silent and tense, until Blade closed his eyes and heaved a sigh. His shoulders lowered and he loosened his fingers. He stepped away before you could say another word.
The sound of his apartment door falling shut behind him echoed in your head to the point it made you flinch.
Ever since that moment in the hallway it felt like Blade actually had a distaste for you. The indifferent looks from before turned into a glare, he scowled when you greeted him or didn’t acknowledge you at all anymore, not even with a nod.
The nights passed by the same as before. Though at times you got the impression that it became less. But, whenever Dan Heng did stay over you kissed your sleep goodbye.
Still, you found yourself too many times slipping your hands into your panties regardless of how he looked at you. Or maybe, because of it. A little part of you wanted him to scowl at you while he told you to get on your knees so he could fuck your face. You always came to the thought of burning red eyes, flushed, pale skin and the sound of a low, hoarse moan in your ear…
But then.
Everything went silent.
.°˖✧ part 2/3: neighbor!doctor!abby / neighbor!producer!reader headcanons .°˖✧
tags: arguing, enemies to lovers, sick!reader, sleepy!abby, yelling on the street, reader’s ex gf, implied doing the deed VAGUELY in like one sentence, more to be added
there will be only ONE more part of this lil story, since i’m afraid of dragging it on for too long!! i might write smth more abt ellie/dina/jesse in this au, but that’ll be it i think! i’ll be starting a smau soon tho :>
PART1 — PART3 — NSFWHC — N(SFW)HC
• after that first awful meeting, abby was ready to give you a piece of her mind. later that day, after a hectic day at work amplified her irritation, she couldn’t hold back.
• she knocked on your door, red-eyed and raging, just hoping to get the conversation over with before she could finally rest in the comfort of her home.
• on the other hand, you were nervous; you cleaned your entire house, took one of those tiring ‘everything showers’ and got dressed in a casual but put together outfit, hoping your mysterious blonde neighbor would appreciate it
• your first mistake was thinking abby would be softened by a cute outfit and some vanilla candles
• abby wasn’t impressed at all. she thought your lilac baby tee was too tight and that your perfume was too sweet. you were annoyingly artistic and carefree in her eyes, unserious to a fault. all the traits that she’d been taught to look down on
• so naturally, she chewed you up and spat you out.
“you need to start being more thoughtful, you aren’t living in the middle of a forest with nobody around!”
“and these parties? do you have to play the music that loud?! and who even are those people?!”
“don’t get me started on the singing and the overplayed songs you always go for. what do you even do for work?!”
• that was the drop that overfilled the cup and made the coquettish gaze you were sending your hot neighbor turn cold. complaining for ten minutes non stop about your loudness wasn’t an issue. in fact, you were planning on dialing it down for the cute, frustrated doctor.
• but coming after you job? the thing you were extremely passionate about? no way you’d let that slide.
“what the fuck is your problem, huh?!”
“… my problem?!”
• and so the two of you kept arguing on the street for the next forty minutes, neither side letting up, until the couple that lived next to you peeked their heads out the window and yelled at you to quiet down, ironically enough.
• abby eyed you one last time, disheveled and agitated. she brushed loose blonde hairs out of her face and pulled her keys out, walking over to the steps that lead to her house.
• you were pouting; this didn’t go as planned. you watched as she unlocked the door, her unforgiving gaze meeting you one last time before she left you with a final statement for the night, before she slammed her front door hard enough to shake both of your homes
“you better be quiet from now on. or else.”
• you obviously didn’t care at all what abby thought after this… interesting meeting, so you decided to be louder than before (if that was even possible)
• the following week consisted of the same old routine, over and over again. you would play the piano loudly, sing late into the night and invite friends over (even an ex girlfriend, making sure to moan extra loud that night)
• which annoyed abby to no end, of course. she calmed down to the best of her abilities, and decided to look at her options. she could call the police, but that was too far. you were still neighbors and she didn’t want to risk getting a bad reputation with other neighborhood residents. and talking to you didn’t help at all.
• so she settled on writing notes. every morning before leaving for work, blondie would leave a passive aggressive message taped to your front door, smirking as she did.
• she knew they would annoy you since she made sure to make them related to your job or your music taste or whatever she thought would make your blood boil.
• but you were unbothered and patient, choosing to save the notes in a box under your bed. all of then made rounds in various group chats since you were complaining to everybody and their mother that your neighbor (now known as abigail) was the worst.
• what made you show up at abby’s door was a message that read: “maybe you should learn how to sing before doing it this late. much love, your next door neighbor abigail”
• you didn’t find this note. however, your ex did, showing it to you as she laughed at how silly it was. you played along, laughing as embarrassment ate at your pride slowly.
• it’s safe to say that rekindling your romance with said ex didn’t go well
• that night, you slammed your balled up fists on abby’s door, ready to take action against her pushing your buttons with these notes. being embarrassed in the comfort of your own presence was different than being teased by someone you dated in the past
• abby opened the door, groggy and hollow eyed. she was wearing a dark blue pajama set, silken and fitted, and she had her neatly brushed hair let down. she’s still so prim and proper, even when she’s sleeping, you think
“whaddya need, sweetheart?”
• the way abby spoke made you feel like your brain became scrambled. sweetheart?! where did that come from?! you quickly snapped back from your dazed gaze set on her lips and retorted:
“what’s up with these notes, huh?!”
“they got you to stop, didn’t they? you’ve been awfully quiet all day today, unlike whatever you attempted to do last night.”
• you heated up from humiliation once again- so she did hear you and your ex! you stumble over words, crossing your arms defensively as you looked away, which gave abby enough time to rub the sleep out of her tired eyes
“keep up with the quietness and we might even get along. is that all for tonight?”
• you let out an annoyed ‘hmph!’ and ran back to your door, sending abby a heated gaze as you yelled a ‘goodnight!’ over your shoulder. the blonde shrugged and went back inside, unaffected and ready to sleep. you, on the other hand, started up with your noisy nighttime routine of trying to write the perfect song; you even opened the windows to make sure your neighbor heard you.
• and so, this routine continued on for the next few days; you would open all the windows, sing loudly, play music at full volume, hell- you even banged pots and pans just to get your point across
• who did she think she was, telling you to be quiet in your own home?!
• abby kept up with her newfound tradition of leaving you notes, some long and some short. she prayed you wouldn’t pop up around the corner; facing you head on was a tad intimidating to her, but she would never admit that it was because of your attractive face and soothing singing voice. so, naturally, she kept complaining to her friends when they went out for coffee and rolled her eyes whenever she’d hear you sneeze loudly though the walls you shared.
• but then, much to abby’s delight, the crescendo next door stopped completely. the woman went on with her routine, choosing to ignore the eerie silence she was met with every day since last week. were you even alive?
• she noted that you weren’t picking up her daily warnings either, and they had piled up on your doorstep after the fourth day of the absence of noise. on the fifth day, abby received an unexpected knock on her door.
• opening it revealed you, much to her surprise. snotty, sweaty, in a tiny t-shirt and a pair of suede shorts in late november new york cold, shaking as you tried to clear your throat.
• for the fist time since you two met, abby felt her heart squeeze because of some tight, uncomfortably soft and fuzzy feeling. a mixture of pity and the urge to coo at your sickly appearance bubbled up and made her gulp- had you always been this… helpless? meek?
• … cute?
• all of these thoughts that crawled their way into abby’s head were solidified with one nasally question asked by you:
“… do you have any tylenon?”
can you do headcanons of reader finding out about shauna getting pregnant by jeff when they were kinda 'together' pre-crash?
Shauna Shipman x Reader headcanon + one shot/long blurb
I kind of went crazy and wrote an entire imagine or longer blurb. I wanted to see if I could pull it off but yeah this is headcanons and an imagine combined. I hope you like it. I really suck at story writing but I hope it gets better with time. I'm also sorry this took FOREVER to make.
Headcanons:
You had just moved to NJ from another state and were super nervous about going to school, you were kind of bullied for a few things but especially that you liked girls.
You needed something to do so you tried out for varsity and actually got in, you were good at soccer but the team was super competitive and known for winning. You had a big reputation to uphold.
Jackie was the first person to welcome you into the team, she was captain and it was her job to make everyone feel safe and like a family, hanging out with her meant seeing Shauna all the time (they were practically latched at the hip) she was right by her side.
It was a good thing since you really started to fall for her. You tried to keep it under wraps but were terrible at it, of course, Jackie spotted it first and was super supportive. She thought it was cute and knew you would be the perfect match. Shauna liked girls too but only told Jackie making her promise not to tell anyone and Jackie obviously respected it.
Jackie insisted Shauna drive you to one of Jeff’s infamous parties. It was a little awkward since you both just hung out at practice with the rest of the team or with Jackie mediating the conversation between you too. You got to know each other after your favorite song played on the radio which ended up being her favorite as well. You both began belting out the song together and it’s how you became friends.
You slowly exclusively hung out with Shauna, inviting her over for lunch or dinner after practice, working on homework together at her place, always attending parties together when Jackie couldn’t, and generally being known to be close with each other.
You both were really similar, you had the same taste in music, art, and writing. You both would share each other's work and were impressed with how talented she was (she thought you were amazing at what you did too) You didn’t know that she would draw you when you weren’t paying attention and she would always keep it a secret. That's when she realized her feelings might be more than just a friend.
It turned into beginning to be more intimate, you both slept in the same bed when having sleepovers, and you ended up in her arms in the middle of the night but neither of you ever complained. You held hands when you went to parties just to make sure you both were safe and were overall all over each other.
Shauna was the first to confess her feelings, speeding to your house and telling you how much she liked you, she was 100% nervous and not used to being so open, you thought she was going to tell you to leave her alone, that you couldn’t be friends anymore and it stressed you out beyond belief.
She just ended up kissing you and it was the best day you had in a long time.
Your relationship never was established as a couple, just something private between you two which blurred the lines a lot.
It went downhill after the crash. You would still share a mattress and kisses when no one was paying attention but she slowly became more distant. You didn’t know if you did anything wrong and it scared you a bit.
It got so much worse the day you all got your periods at the same time, she was quiet and you thought it was just how she normally acted on her period but she seemed concerned and just ignored you throughout that entire week. You were convinced she hate you.
You overheard Jackie interrogate Shauna one day while you were doing your chores inside the pantry and Shuana’s confession broke your heart into pieces, that she would hookup with someone behind your back, and randy walsh out of all the people she would do that with.
You felt sick this time ignoring her, she confronted you and wanted to mend things but you couldn’t hold onto what you knew and just said frankly “you’re pregnant aren’t you” she was stunned and didn’t know what to say other than deny it but you knew better, “don’t lie!” she felt so guilty and it was written all over her face. “I heard you talking about it with Jackie?” Shauna was offended that you listened in which was bs.
You forced her to explain everything “what happened at the party shauna? Tell me!” she couldn’t look you in the eyes and all she muttered out was “jeff” you were confused at first but the wheels started turning in your head. No way would she hookup with her best friends boyfriend and ‘cheat’ on you.
You began to sob, you couldn’t believe it. Shauna begged for you to not tell Jackie, she had the audacity to be more concerned about that then your relationship!
You felt like a fool, she begged for you to not leave her that it was a mistake and everything could go back to how it was, you didn’t believe her.
you didn’t know she could be so cruel
Imagine:
You had just moved to Wiskayok, the ordeal was intimidating considering you had never left your hometown. Things were rocky in the beginning, people were pretty cold whenever you tried to be friendly and there wasn’t ever any time to make new friends with how busy school was until you joined the girl's soccer team. It was one of the most competitive teams in the state but you took your shot trying out for varsity and actually got in, you finally found people you fit in with but one individual really piqued your interest.
–
You opened your locker rifling through books finding what you needed for next period when you felt a tap on your shoulder.
It was Jackie, the team captain and one of the sweetest people you had met. “How are you liking varsity?” she asked. “It's amazing, everyone is so welcoming and you’re all so talented,” you replied honestly. “Well thank you y/n, we really love having you around,” she responded, “we need more gifted like you.” You smiled bashfully “I appreciate it, thank you.”
Laughter echoed down the hallway, your eyes glanced over and were met with the doe-eyed girl you were so fond of. Jackie’s gaze followed yours “I couldn’t help but see you eyeing Shauna,” she smirked. Your eyes widened meeting hers, “no I would never” you stammered.
No one ever knew you liked girls, people you knew in the past didn’t have the best reaction and you didn’t want to be rejected again.
“Hey it’s ok! She’s into you as well.” Your heart swelled at her admission. “You don't think it’s weird?” you uttered unsure.“No, I actually think it’s cute, she’s been needing some love in her life” she chuckled reassuring you. “Stop it I’m not in love” you blushed. “Hm ok, whatever you say” she winked following after her best friend.
_
Practice had ended, you were exhausted preparing for nationals hoping you would win and your nerves started catching up to you. Feeling lightheaded and moved to sit on the bleachers waiting for your ride when you hear footsteps approach you. Jackie greeted you again, asking you how you were feeling but your eyes would drift towards Shauna behind her on the field, you found it difficult to pay attention to the girl in front of you. “You know your eyes are going to be stuck like that if you don’t stop right?” Jackie snickered, “shutup,” you scoffed, Looking back at her. Jackie sighed “you should just go up and talk to her,” she said with a sigh sitting next to you. “It's not that easy” you look down in defeat. Jackie's face twisted in contemplation, standing she placed her hands on her hips, “it actually is” she murmured.
“Hey Shipman!” she waved your head shot up, eyes wide. “What the hell are you doing?” you whispered harshly “What you should’ve done ages ago” replied annoyed. “Stop it!” you sputtered grabbing her wrist and attempting to pull her down. Shauna’s head swiveled to the both of you, she said goodbye to Tai before walking towards you. “Hey Jackie.” she grinned. “Hey, you know y/n?” she questioned tilting her head. “Yeah, of course, you’re new on varsity right” Shauna questioned, you stood up blushing. “Uh yeah” stammering quietly wringing your hands behind your back, heart hammering in your chest. Jackie looked between you two “well she’s coming to Jeff’s party tonight and needs a ride. Is it cool if you take her?” she said breaking the silence. “Um yeah sure,” Shauna nodded, “ Is 7 ok?” asked. “Yeah of course” she replied quickly, “ok perfect,” Shauna smiled before turning to leave. Your face soured twisting to “Jackie I can’t believe you did that!” exclaiming furiously, “Um you’re welcome!” she retorts. Huffing you cross your arms “yeah whatever.”
“I will see you tonight!” Jackie winks.
_
You were pacing back and forth, your room was a mess half of the clothes in the closet were strewn on the floor, anxiety at an all-time high. You’re ready to go but your brain grueled over what was going to happen tonight. You’re a confident person and rarely look for approval from others but you’ve never been so desperate to impress someone in your life
You were putting earrings on when the sound of the doorbell rang through the house. Your throat tightened “now or never y/n.” Sprinting downstairs breathing in and out trying to get your bearings, you opened the door and there she was stunning in a red dress. You paused eyeing her up and down, were blown away she was glowing under the porch light, “hey are you ready?” Shauna questioned pulling you out of your stupor, “yeah let's go.” reddening and tripping out the door.
–
The drive was awkward, the silence was deafening, you felt dizzy your brain scattering for something to say.
“So how long have you known Jackie?” queried head turning towards her, “oh we’ve been best friends since we were kids” she answered smiled, you hummed sat back into the seat, “are you excited about tonight?” you asked, “yeah it’s gonna be fun. I’ve been needing to relax,” she chuckled, “hm yeah haven’t done anything like this in a while.” you exhaled.
“Well are you liking it here?” questioned curiously, “it’s taking some adjusting but yeah, I actually really like the team, you’re all are so cool, I hope I can be just as good next year.” You beamed, excitement laced in your voice. You truly were looking forward to the rest of your stay in Wiskayok. “Hey don’t sell yourself short, you’re actually really good on the field you know that?” “thank you” you stammered shocked, did she really notice you on the field? You felt like you blended in the background but this revelation made your heart soar. “You don't have to say that just cause” your cheeks reddened. “No I promise you are!” she said genuinely “well thanks.”
3AM by Matchbox Twenty sounded from the radio. Shauna looked over at you as you began to hum, “you know this song?” she inquired sounding excited.“Yeah I went to their show last summer. They’re actually amazing live” replied, facing her, finally having something in common she continued to ask more about the band.
“Who’s your favorite member? Any of the guys or..” you were worried she’d freak out if she found out you liked girls, you didn’t want to ruin the night before it barely started. “I’m actually into the drummer, she’s super hot.” Her response surprised you.
“oh um really?” trying to walk around her answer, “yeah I actually like girls too, that isn’t a problem is it?” she looked over at you gauging your response, you’ve never felt so happy in your life, “She’s also my favorite and I also like girls too.”
“That’s great y/n” it was the first time that night she truly met your eyes. The next song on the album came on, Shauna started to sing, and you slowly as it turned into belting. Laughter echoed in the car and you were so busy dancing in your seat that you didn’t notice her staring at you, an endearing smile on her face.
Jackie is the first person to greet you. “How did it go?”
“Better than I thought it would” you beamed, “I told you it would work out.”
–
The both of you spent more time together, you both began spending time at each other's houses, sitting with each other at lunch, working on homework together in the library, and going to your local diner after practice. There was something more intimate there, lingering touches were exchanged, cuddling became normal and there was no hesitance to physically be close to each other anymore.
It was the afternoon when you heard a ring at your door. You opened it to find Shauna standing there, a smile almost graced your lips before you noticed how tense she was, “hey can we talk?” she stood anxiously wringing her hands together, “sure come in” you ushered her inside, heart beginning to race. Thoughts rushing through your brain.
what could’ve you done wrong to make Shauna act this way?
You led her into your room, you were about to speak but she slotted her hand in yours pulling you to sit on your bed. “I just wanted to tell you.. I” she paused not able to get what she wanted to say out of her mouth, “tell me what? Did I do something wrong?” Your voice was tight, anxiety lacing your throat “no, no! Not that at all” she rushed, she gulped “I have these feelings for you and I really needed to tell you.” she whispered quickly, you barely could hear her.
“Ok, good feelings?” you stared at her confused, frustration laced her features making you feel 10 times worse, “God what was happening” you pondered overwhelmed. You didn’t notice her shifting closer to you, until all you could see was the pink flush on her cheeks and her brown eyes you loved so much. She held your face in her hands pulling you close and kissing you on the lips. Your eyes widen but you settle, a slow rhythm matching hers. It was passionate, so much better than any of the dreams you’ve had/conjured of this moment, it didn’t feel real, butterflies fluttered in your belly. You pull away breathlessly. “Well I have the same feelings as well” you giggle. “Perfect” she whispers pulling you in again.
–
The plane crash ruined everything, you had won the state game, you were at an all-time high and everything was perfect until it wasn’t.
Groans and complaints were heard all throughout the cabin. All of your periods had synchronized. You managed to pull resources together to tough out the distasteful situation.
You found Shauna quietly sitting on the steps of the cabin. You sat beside her settling down you pressed a kiss to her shoulder nuzzling yourself close. “How’s your day going?” she spaced out seeming to ignore you “Shauna?” she spun her head looking over to you. “How’s the murder between your legs going?” you questioned. “It sucks.” You felt bad for her, you could tell it was taking more of a toll on her than anyone else, “well I think it will be over soon” reassured her, pecking her forehead.
“I noticed you haven’t been feeling your best just wanted to give you this” pulling out a snack bar. “Where did you get this?” “Secret stash of mine brought it to the trip and was saving it for something important.” Her eyes softened, “you don’t have to”
“I know but I care about you” you planted a kiss on your cheek then one on your lips. She broke the kiss abruptly seeming dejected.“I gotta go, I remember Jackie said she needed help with something.” Rushing to stand. You were left confused ‘weird..’
–
You were searching for a bucket Misty needed when voices began to echo from outside the wooden door. “You’re pregnant?!” Jackie gasped, you freeze “yeah” Shauna mumbled, “Who’s the dad?” Jackie interrogated, “Randy” Shauna whispered. “Randy Walsh! Wow I never saw that happening” she laughed, tears blurred your vision, and you felt yourself heave clamping your hand over your mouth. “Did this happen while you were seeing y/n or…” Shauna was quiet, her silence guilty. “Shauna.. Why, you know how much she cares about you.” Jackie chastised, disappointed that her friend would do this to you. “I was plastered and we just got caught up in the moment…”
You couldn’t listen anymore, you silently sneaked away.
–
You walked into the woods, tears streaming down your face letting out the sobs you had been holding back. The thought of Randy all over her while she had the audacity to treat you like she loved you making you ill.
You hear footsteps trailing behind you. “Hey I’ve been looking all over for you,” Shauna approached you, but you didn’t respond. “Hey what’s wrong” she reaches out softly holding your wrist and turning you but you rip yourself away from her grasp.
“You’re pregnant,” said frankly. She stepped back “what I.. no” she denied shaking her head.
Anger coursed through you, the nerve she had to deceive you. “Don’t lie to me,” you stepped forward. “I heard everything.” emphasizing each word. “You were spying on me” Shauna scoffed angrily. “Spying! I was busy doing my job and it’s not like you were trying to be quiet.” you retorted sharply.
“What happened the night of Jeff’s party?” she couldn’t meet your gaze, “what happened Shauna with Randy?” furiously leaning in her space, “it wasn’t Randy..” she paused, “what..” Furrowing your eyebrows, there couldn’t have been anyone else. Most of the people at the party were in relationships… but the realization slowly hit you, she ‘cheated’ on you and hooked up with her best friend's boyfriend behind her back.
Your face soured, bile pooled in your mouth. This isn’t the girl you fell for it couldn’t be.
“Jeff.. in his car” jaw-dropping at her admission. “You can’t tell Jackie” she pleaded, tears welling up in her eyes “you’re thinking about her right now?” you stammered incredulously motioning towards the cabin.
Fuming was an understatement, you were on the verge of strangling the girl in front of you. You were speechless, Shauna Shipman the girl who spent long nights cuddling in your bed, the girl who secretly drew pictures of you between classes, the girl who defended and promised you were hers broke your heart. Guilt was written all over her face.
“I was just a toy you could play with until you got bored right?” scoffing exasperated, “that's not true.” She reached out to you, tears falling and lips quivering, desperate to not let you go. “I promise it isn’t”
You couldn’t help but laugh, feeling like an idiot. You were right this was too good to be true. “You’re so fucked.” you bellowed speeding past her.
