of all the things i've been wanting to draw for the comic, from the funny silly stuff to the longer, more serious things like lead paint, the one part i've been most looking forward to is the whole winter confrontation in dead man talking, on account of the genre change to a straight up noir, it's handled differently than in the game. nick's talk of exacting justice and doing a good thing is a pretty flimsy pretence and by the time he gets in there he's clearly psyching himself up to kill this guy in cold blood and gets more and more wound-up and frantic until he finally ends up doing it. nick gets to the point where he starts scaring gloria, who's pretty bloodthirsty herself

i actually started drawing it about six months ago, but scrapped the whole thing. i didn't have the chops, and i might still not, but i'm more confident now

it's gonna be so fun to whip out those kinds of expressions visually, i don't think i've ever drawn him like that! ideal situation would be a lot of people dipping out halfway through the comic not because they don't want to read it, but because they can't stand to. i'm going all in bebby

Yes, microsoft trying to make a "zero-water" data center (https://finance.yahoo.com/news/microsoft-unveils-zero-water-data-170002064.html) is unambiguously a good thing. Obviously any reduction of pollution or water usage is a good thing. No, I don't think that means that ai's usage of water is something to singlehandedly be up in arms about.

By all means, be upset about ai! Just don't only be upset about ai for this or that when basically every other industry on the planet has the same exact problems.

Yes, the world would benefit from less water usage for ai. But when you posit ai as uniquely evil for it's water usage, I have a hard time believing you actually have an issue with the water usage. Instead it seems like you just want a reason to dislike ai.

My goal is for all of these industries, and many more, to severely reduce their water consumption, or to even stop existing as industries at all! Is that yours as well? If so, why doesn't it feel like it.

I keep forgetting (and rediscovering) that gender matters to people. That they do worry about pronouns and looking a certain way and being interacted with in a certain way.

While I simply... don't care? People gendering me is an indication of what kind of game the other person wants to play and I'm very happy to have a heads up.

Why would I want to butcher it by demanding any specific pronouns.

thinking about a stoncy dynamic that’s not romantic or sexual or necessarily even platonic, but it used to be all or some of those things, and now it’s like they don’t know each other really at all anymore unless there’s danger, and then they immediately fall into perfect step with each other without even noticing

they don’t talk and they kinda avoid each other socially after they tried out every configuration of the three of them and none of them worked, but the minute a threat appears suddenly they’re flanking each other without having to discuss it. they fall into battle formation without even a glance. they always know where the other two are in a melee, they don’t have to check. it’s instinctive- stay equidistant, fan out, protect the party. one of them loses their weapon and one of the others throws them another, and they catch it and keep fighting. neither one looks, neither one breaks stride. they move around each other on reflex, like magnets.

just battle-hardened kids who are awkward as hell kids but also seasoned warriors who know each other down to their bones, but only in a fight.

Look, I admit it would be kinda amusing and satisfying if Biden actually had Trump assassinated and pulled the whole "presidential immunity" thing (and honestly it wouldn't event be the worst possible timeline) and it's fun to joke about.

But like, you guys do realize that the answer to "they are trying to establish a military dictatorship" is not "so we have to beat them to it and establish our own military dictatorship first, but with good people in charge"? Right? And that any timeline where a president has political rivals killed is not the best timeline?
