As a sport newborn, I need you to go on the longest tangent about how Seb was a misogynist and an asshole because these guys are so, so, so into their personal bubbles and their rebrands are so incredibly effective that I just know hippie Seb, not Mark Webber's sleep paralysis demon Seb. Pretty please? I'm asking because I loved your very well-worded Lewis takedown too. I just want to know what I'm supporting here.

i do want to preface this by saying that i'm not saying any of this to try and make people dislike seb, and i didn't say any of that stuff about lewis to make people dislike him either. i am incredibly aware that this is the millionaire tax evader oil company sport and absolutely none of them are perfect, therefore people should feel able to like whichever drivers they like. having said that, i do think we should be honest about who the drivers are and the things they've done, especially when they are trying to present themselves as activists for that cause.

with seb specifically, i think there are a lot of incidents of him being pretty gross and sexist. one time he told an italian journalist that he would only answer her question if she kissed him. another time he derailed an interview with a british journalist by talking about her wearing a revealing dress. he's made numerous jokes about grid girls and even objected to f1 introducing grid boys in an attempt to make the entire practice less overtly sexist because he only wanted to look at grid girls.

seb was always a very charismatic driver, and so a lot of the things he said and did were categorised as him being funny and cheeky, but i think when you look at what he was actually doing and saying, it does border on workplace sexual harassment. he was friends with some of the female journalists like lee mckenzie (the revealing dress incident) but she was very clearly uncomfortable in that moment, and it was really unfair of him to do that to her on international television and in front of her colleagues (mostly men who found it very funny that someone was kind of hinting at her breasts). that moment is also in a bunch of youtube compilations of seb being "funny", so she can't really escape it, if she ever wanted to. as a multiple world champion, seb had a lot of power and influence with f1, certainly more than the female journalists who likely had to work incredibly hard to get their positions and the respect of colleagues and viewers, and seb used his power to put them in uncomfortable positions where they likely would never be able to complain about their discomfort. and given that he never demanded a kiss from a male journalist, you know that it was gendered. i also think that it was incredibly disrespectful to his girlfriend/wife who was at home taking care of their children while he was doing all of this.

Hello, friend! I'm sorry to tell you that there is not.

I've worked in multiple areas of the pet industry and I've met the full gamut of types of shop owners, and while I don't consider all of them wicked people, some certainly are. Even the best of them have a bottom line to consider. This means that they won't divulge where their animals are coming from so that you can look into a breeder before making a choice, and they're likely buying animals from backyard breeders or bulk importers. This also means that it's unlikely that the animals they're selling will have established health histories.

Having worked at one of if not The biggest reptile chain in Northern California, I saw some horrors that scarred me for life. Among the lesser sins that took place there:

Folks who bred reptiles but didn't have incubators set up could bring their eggs in for incubation services, the price of which was half of the clutch, and the store owner would then sell the resulting babies as "born on-site," which was technically true! But we didn't know the parentage or health potential of any of these animals. We didn't sell incubators in the store for this specific reason.

Surrenders came in regularly from owners who didn't have the time or resources to care for their pets any longer. They went on the sales floor with a price tag the second the previous owner walked out the door. No veterinary care, no health evaluation, no observation period, nothing. If they looked okay they were priced at regular retail price and we were explicitly told to never admit that they had been surrendered. 100% profit.

Any animal that was injured or sickly, no matter where it came from or how it got injured, was tagged as a "surrender" that we would claim was dropped off by a bad former owner and we'd had them cleared by a vet so that we could rehome them. This was a lie. None of them ever got veterinary care, ever.

Enclosures were cleaned regularly but were never properly sterilized between animals. We sold veterinary-grade cleaner in the store but we were not allowed to use it because it was too expensive. We used diluted Lysol!

Again, this is a large reptile chain with multiple stores and mostly positive online reviews* and I wouldn't trust them with a pet rock, let alone anything breathing.

You're much better off getting a snake from a reputable breeder, or at least someone who can answer reasonable questions about feeding, parentage, genetics, any possible health issues, etc.

*the owner actually reported negative reviews and would have employees write good ones while I was there.

Picnics are a bit of an uncomfortable topic for Dottore since he potentially strangled or watched his first date get mauled by tigers on a picnic so yeah that takes a while to warm up to again 😂😭 Celeste absolutely loves picnics tho! So when they go to Sumeru (something evil in their lore I have planned hahahaha) and inevitably end up on a picnic, Celeste is running around chasing butterflies and beetles >< Meanwhile, Dottore is either just watching or brings out his notebook to start sketching the forest around him (and maybe a certain lady if he isn't being careful). I think most of their picnics have an hour or something of him just quietly drawing while Celeste is looking at insects before she inevitably returns to their blanket and cuddling ensues :3 They probably talk for a good while before Dottore launches into a longer monologue and Celeste just makes herself comfortable against him xD
