I’m by no means an expert on the Mahabharata or Hinduism in general (I’d say my knowledge on Hinduism especially is rather limited) but am I wrong in thinking that the game was rigged against Duryodhana from the start?

There’s no denying that he’s far from a saint and some of the things he did were awful but I feel like he’s portrayed as such a completely morally black and bankrupt character when it’s sort of far from that.

Like as far as major characters are concerned, he’s the only one who has absolutely no interest or regard in the caste system whatsoever. There’s like three speeches of his that very very clearly show that. His intervention with Karna at their first meeting, although perhaps partly due to opportunism depending on your interpretation, is one of the most honourable scenes in the entire epic to me.

Not once has he ever even implied that Karna’s caste is of any importance and throughout their entire relationship, there was no one who he treated with more love and respect than Karna. Even in general, it’s well established that his judgements of people are based on their individual qualities and not caste.

Again, not saying that he was a good guy at all but he was also known for being generous and a good ruler. He’s almost always interpreted as a power hungry yet incompetent person but that’s also far from the truth. He was Balarama’s favourite student which means that there was a lot of good about him or why would someone like Balarama even bother with him?

Also, being told that on the day of his birth his uncle told his father to kill him and then his mother saying she should have killed him, is not something that anyone should hear lmfao so I think, in certain aspects, his anger is justified.

It’s also very clear that from the start, Krishna was against him. Every act of his towards Duryodhana was deliberately meant to sabotage him in some way. Even Balarama acknowledged this so it’s basically a matter of fact.

So yeah, I’m not saying he was a good guy or that he’s just some misunderstood pookie but I think that not acknowledging some of his very good traits and the fact that everything was rigged against him since day 1 is a disservice to the whole point of the epic.

I hope I didn’t offend anyone with this. I know for over a billion people the Mahabharata is a religious text and the last thing I want to do is disrespect that regardless of whether I believe in it or not. I’d really like to hear some of your opinions on this take and I’m also really keen on engaging with people about the epic in general <3

Wonder if the lack of Arjuna voice line updates has more to do with scheduling than neglect. I notice Nobunaga Shimazaki’s project list is considerably longer for both 2022 and 2023 than usual and a lot of them are for straight up main or major recurring characters, and three are for movies. Not to mention the events promoting those projects.

I honestly hope that’s the case!

I’ve been really disappointed with fgo’s myroom liens for a while now anyway (starting with charlemagne-he doesn’t have lines for *anyone* from extella link sans astolfo who’s also his paladin and he literally calls altera his sister there) but the paper moon release was just crushingly disappointing to me bc karna and kirei were the only servants, as far as I know, to have any new specific voicelines for any of the servants introduced in the chapter; so I’m just really disappointed because out of the two of Mahabharata servants arjuna and bhima were super close, yknow?

I will say that I don’t personally actually think it was a snub against arjuna specifically though bc this is the same game that didn’t give siegfried updated lines for krimeheild, his actual wife, when she released, they’re just straight up being stupid about this right now for whatever reason so it may be a scheduling issue, or nobunaga was busy, or something, it’s just that it ended up looking bad when it panned out in the end.

Akka I'm really sorry for reminding you of neet now but i need some advice. I'm scoring around 150 in neet with it being my first attempt along with me not attending most of my coaching classes. My mind is split now, whether i actually deserve a drop and want it or not. they say a person develops a kind of love towards a subject, which they can pursue later on in life. I don't have love towards any subject of mine so far. I don't know what to do :(

It depends on your financial situation and if you have any other interests. If you can afford to take another year to reappear in neet again, and if you ok with pursuing this path, then one generally takes a drop year.

If you want to pursue another field, totally unrelated to sciences: say, photography, or psychology, or drama, then a talk with your parents or guardians is of use. The field of medical study cannot be easy, but if you take it up with hate, then it cannot ever give good results.

If you aren't sure to pursue any other field, then you can think about taking a drop year.

As someone with personal experience on taking a drop and its toll on physicality and mental health, I have to give you an idea on how it works. You have to work constantly and mind your score, give lots of mock tests. You might or might not have enough spare time to exercise or destress the way you want. It is better to study in a group (with like-minded people and friends in the same situation as you) or take a coaching class that guides you along the path.

I cannot make the decision for you and neither can you alone. Aap ko abhi hi decision nahi leni hai. Lekin thodi jaldi leni hogi. If you aren't taking a gap year, you might want to apply for other colleges with courses you want to pursue.

YOOOOO I think @teatitty was also saying this - that if Nero hadn’t been Waifu’d so hard by the writers, she could’ve been one of the best anti-heroes in the series, and I feel that in my soul because I frankly think Nero has so much untapped potential, like even apart from the increasingly obvious hints that she’s the Beast of Revelations/the Whore of Babylon, you don’t need to look any further than the fact that she has Imperial Privilege Rank EX.

For reference, not even someone like Ozy, a literal god’s avatar, who considers himself far and above all other humans, who as a Servant is on par with the likes of Gilgamesh and Karna for how absolutely busted strong he is - not even “King of Kings, god-pharaoh Ozymandias, look on my works and despair,” has Imperial Privilege Rank EX.

Because as I mentioned, Nero is straight-up delusional. A lot of this manifests itself in her constant attempts to be a famous singer or actress - not realizing that she’s tone deaf, because she is Nero! The greatest artist who ever lived, who is good at everything! There’s also like, absolutely everything about Nero Bride, who represents one of Nero’s most famous IRL episodes of “madness.” Ozy knows that he has limits and weaknesses, and even though he’s immensely powerful, he knows that he can’t simply snap his fingers and bend the universe to make himself invulnerable. But Nero? Nero fully believes that she can do whatever the hell she wants, she has no flaws, and no weaknesses. So what if she never learned to use a sword, she’s the greatest emperor of Rome, she can make a sword and become a Saber-class Servant if she damn well pleases. So it goes.

But there’s also a lot of hints that Nero recognizes that she’s delusional. The plotline in the Roman Singularity with her constantly having headaches was dropped - her second skill, remember, was originally called “Migraine” before it was upgraded. She also admits at one point that her best class as a Servant is Rider - but she refuses to become a Rider-class Servant. (Because again, doing so would bring her closer to her true form as Beast.)

Nero IRL is a SUPER interesting figure. There are, actually, some who believe that Nero was semi-popular among the common people of Rome, and that there were active efforts among the upper-class to oust and discredit Nero because his political whims were unpopular in the Senate. There isn’t a lot of evidence to support the “fiddling while Rome burns” anecdote, but of course, we can’t forget the conquest of Britain, and the bride incident, the persecution of minority faiths, among other things. I wouldn’t really consider Nero a sympathetic figure at all, even if a lot of the worst stories about them were exaggerated. But this kind of plays into Fate!Nero’s characterization.

So Nero spends a LOT of time in Fate doing absolutely everything possible to avoid facing who and what she really is and desperately trying to make herself appealing and cute and charming to others. This includes becomes a Saber class Servant (I have a theory about Sabers representing forms of idealism but also they’re supposedly one of the most well-rounded Servant classes in terms of their strengths, and are considered “strongest” of the seven normal classes), trying to forcibly make up with Boudica (who should be an Avenger but that’s beside the point), downplaying her hatred and persecution of Christians and her role in the burning of Rome, downplaying her conquests and her mistakes and the callous way that she treated people around her, generally making herself into a “benevolent emperor” who was beloved by her people and fell on tragic times but always got back up again!

My crackpot theory is that we’ve never seen Nero’s true face - literally. I think that, upon dying, Nero may have had a moment where she realized what she truly is - and that includes seeing her appearance clearly for the first time. And I think that what she saw, she didn’t like. So as part of her intense image make-over, she manifested a new face for herself - the face of someone in history who was beloved, who was adored - really adored - by everyone, who was held up as a shining example of a leader. At the point when Nero was created, it was already canonical that OG Saber and Jeanne d’Arc had a strong enough resemblance that the lunatic Gilles de Rais could mistake one for the other, and Mordred being a clone of Arturia makes their similarities a given. But I genuinely think “picked” her face on purpose when she manifested as a Servant, so that more people would be inclined to like her, because she’d look like someone they already admired rather than someone they knew to fear.

(This is my Watsonian reasoning talking - the Doylist and actual reason why Nero has Saberface is because the creator wanted to surprise the fans by making a familiar-looking character act in ways that were completely unexpected. But I like my theory better.)

La Neve Interview: Trying to Slow Down History

Any project from Providence-based musician, historian, and activist Joey La Neve DeFrancesco begins in their roots in organizing. The popular punk band Downtown Boys started when DeFrancesco met lead vocalist Victoria Ruiz while working at the Renaissance Hotel in Providence, the two becoming involved with a hotel worker’s union. While their project La Neve is far more dance-oriented than Downtown Boys or even DeFrancesco’s electronic project with Ruiz, Malportado Kids, it’s still very political. And on La Neve’s new EP History Solved, DeFrancesco explicitly connects the dance floor to the streets. With drummer Karna Ray, DeFrancesco explores a punk ethos, an aesthetic of distorted, shouted vocals and industrial new wave beats. Opener “Soft Power” combines swirling synths with calls to “multiply” and “emasculate”, stripping the patriarchy of its power. The title track takes on the interconnectedness of global catastrophes--from the evils of capitalism DeFrancesco has spent their life fighting to the global pandemic that’s upended the lives of countless musicians--with a loud-quiet-loud industrialism. “Rough Music” rides clattering drums, washy noise, and limber bass to an 80s-esque rave up; the title refers to a classic form of street protest against a local political figure, often using lots of percussion, something akin to DeFrancesco’s time in brass band What Cheer? Brigade.

Knowing they wanted to blend live percussion with digital elements on the new La Neve material, DeFrancesco reached out to Marco Buccelli, the drummer for Xenia Rubinos, who had played with Downtown Boys. Ray had also worked with Buccelli and recommended him, and DeFrancesco was especially impressed with Buccelli’s work on Rubinos’ most recent album Una Rosa. Though the seeds of History Solved’s title track were planted pre-pandemic, DeFrancesco wrote most of the EP during the pandemic and recorded it with Buccelli in upstate New York last summer. Listening to it in all of its rawness, it’s clear DeFrancesco yearned for the live performance of these songs. La Neve played AS220′s Black Box Theatre in Providence in March; they describe their show as part drag, part mosh pit, and part rave. They’re also doing a release show for History Solved at Trans-Pecos in New York on May 7th.

I spoke with DeFrancesco over the phone last month about History Solved, rough music, their involvement in various labor movements, and working with mastering extraordinaire Heba Kadry. Read our conversation below, edited for length and clarity.

Since I Left You: What makes History Solved unique as compared to past La Neve releases?

Joey La Neve DeFrancesco: It’s definitely more intense and chaotic and punk. Coming from Downtown Boys, with La Neve, at first, I was trying to do more of a dance or house thing. I still do some of that on this record and still like playing that live. But this is much more transparently angry and aggressive and cathartic, coming out of a pandemic mindset. Some of it was coming out of visualizing what the music would be doing to people in a live context. Some of the most fun parts of doing this job are performing live, and for those couple years [during COVID], it was unthinkable how you could have a packed sweaty dance situation. I wanted to make something to capture those particular emotions and politics. It’s much faster, much more in this digital punk vein. Closer to Downtown Boys than the last record I did.

SILY: Did you have the album title or the title track first?

JLND: I don’t think I came at it thinking what the title of the record was gonna be. I think I wrote that song first or began working on it first. It felt like the last couple years, the way people had observed how time had been feeling, it felt like we were living in an accelerated experience of history and of things around us. It felt difficult to feel like we had much agency as a collective to slow down or influence these machinations of history around us. It felt like a particularly meaningful time, and I came up with it before the pandemic. It’s a line from Marx in the literal sense, but I took it to mean something different. I also like how the line sounds aesthetically. It seemed to fit what I felt was going on around me pretty accurately.

SILY: Do you think the idea of “Rough Music” is a good descriptor of this album in general?

JLND: [laughs] Yeah, it’s definitely rougher [than past La Neve material]. I’ve worked in museums and writing history as another one of my jobs for a while, so I have these nerdy historical references in a lot of my songs. Marx isn’t that nerdy of a reference, it’s more popular. But “rough music” is an old labor thing referring to working class parades where they would play music and mock a boss or someone with a lot of power in the community. So it works as a double meaning in the song, trying to mock that class of people, but the literal aesthetic of it is a little broken, punk, loud, messy, and sloppy in a lot of places.

SILY: Obviously it relates to your personal history in labor movements, too.

JLND: I met Victoria because we were working at the same hotel and had become involved with UNITE HERE!, a hotel workers’ union, which is what the band came out of. I worked with other labor campaigns to organize independent musicians into the Union of Musicians and Allied Workers, which put together the biggest collective campaign against streaming services that’s out there. It’s definitely how I see the world and how I think is the best shot at changing things, from a labor perspective. I think about it especially as a musician. You organize where you work, and musicians are not especially organized. For me, it’s to get some of the messaging into the music but also organize as a music worker within the industry itself.

SILY: A lot of the recent anti-Spotify conversations have centered around their allowance of...certain anti-vaccination podcasts. As someone who fights streaming services from a different angle, do you think that distracts from the conversation?

JLND: I think if people want to do that and can do that, it’s fine. It’s gotten a lot of attention to the issue and brought a lot of people into our organizing campaign. But I don’t think it’s sufficient to actually change things and get to a level we can build power as music workers and organize collectively to put pressure on Spotify in a mass organized way, if we’re really gonna influence anything. Spotify has essentially a monopoly power. Streaming is 83-90% of profits in the music industry, and Spotify controls about 40% of that. It’s like what Amazon had in retail a few years ago. The only way you confront a level of monopoly and power like that is to collectively get organized to put pressure on the industry. The last big effective national musician’s strike was in the 1940′s and had 150,000 musicians in the American Federation of Musicians and went on strike for 2 years to win some concessions from the recording industry. We’re far away from being that organized today, but we can get there. It’s possible to do. That’s what our campaign is about. Building power to where we can force concessions from these companies.

SILY: Changing gears: Aesthetically, “Precious Gem”, the final track on the EP, seems like a bit more of an outlier. What’s the story behind that song?

JLND: That was written a bit earlier than the other stuff. We debated whether to include it on the EP because, like you said, it’s not quite a mesh to the rest of it. But I still wanted to put it at the end because I love dance music and dancing. It’s what brings people together at the shows. Even though it’s different stylistically, working with Marco, we did a cool job blending the digital and live music elements. There’s still a lot of weird stuff we managed to fit in there sonically and rhythmically. We wanted a closer at the end that was a slightly different style. The project has been morphing stylistically pretty rapidly; it’ll probably never stay in the same place, even on the same record.

SILY: Was this your first time working with Heba Kadry?

JLND: Yeah! I’ve come to know her over the past couple years because she’s been quite involved in the musician union efforts. We had a conversation that was recorded with Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib. She’s amazing and has worked with a lot of incredible artists and is politically really aligned with everything we’re doing. So it was very exciting she wanted to do the record. Everyone on the record has been involved in the musician union stuff, actually. It’s been really cool to work with people who are politically aligned.

SILY: I feel like I see her name on every single record’s credits.

JLND: Yes. She’s a powerhouse and very busy and has very good taste in who she wants to work with. I’m honored she agreed to do the project with us.

SILY: How did your show at the Black Box go?

JLND: It was great. I got to play with Abdu Ali, this Baltimore club legend who Downtown Boys and me and Victoria’s other electronic band Malportado Kids had played with in Baltimore. We’ve brought Abdu up here and have been on the circuit with Abdu Ali for 7-8 years. I hadn’t seen them since the pandemic, so it was really exciting as a fan to see Abdu perform because they’re one of the best performers in the game. It was cool to get in there and have people dancing face to face with me. It felt a little bit rusty in terms of approaching the performance. Some of it’s like riding a bike, and some of it takes a certain level of practice. It’s still gonna be weird for a long time, but it’ll be exciting to be able to do it again.

SILY: Have you been to many other shows?

JLND: I went to see Mdou Moctar last month at the Columbus Theatre in Providence. I had never seen them live but had watched a lot of videos of them live, and it seems like they keep getting better and better as a live band. That was really inspiring. I’ve also seen some little shows here and there and been to the club when it seemed like COVID was behind us for a month or two. But Mdou Moctar was the time I felt again, “Wow! This is the power of live music.”

SILY: Did you play music from the EP at the Black Box?

JLND: Yeah, most of [it]. The only one I haven’t figured out how to do live is “Work to Rule” because it’s so heavily guitar-based and doesn’t do well with the backing track. I’d love to get to this point where the band can have more members in it, but it’s a difficult financial consideration to pay big bands of people. But overall people seemed to respond to [the EP].

SILY: What’s the story behind the cover art?

JLND: That’s a photo from the last La Neve tour we got to do right before COVID hit, in January of 2020. We did a West Coast tour and got to do a show in Reno at The Holland Project. I had never played in Reno before, but that was one of the most fun shows of the tour. There was a cool photographer there who took these double exposure shots of us throughout the night, named Rey Broughton. She had sent me a bunch of them. I said, “These are really amazing, I’d like to do something with them.” A couple years later, I had something for the image. It reminds me of getting to do that last tour and engaging with people in a place I had never been before.

SILY: Anything else next for you in the short or long term?

JLND: Hopefully some touring. Still chugging along writing music, so I’m hoping to write another set of things sometime soon. I feel like these days, it’s hard to think more than a few months in advance, especially in this industry. But the project continues. I’m continuing with the Union of Musicians and Allied Workers. We’re working with lawmakers on legislation right now to take on the streaming issue. 

SILY: Anything you’ve been listening to, watching, or reading you’ve enjoyed?

JLND: I should be prepared for this question. I don’t want to just name all my friends.

SILY: You can!

JD: There’s an artist named Manchado in New York who just put out a new single. I’ve really liked their work for a while. They do this queer performance that’s strange and really pushing things. The song’s called “Mona Lisa”. There’s another band in New York I’m playing with on May 7th called Ratas En Zelo who I think are the best, most fun punk band in New York right now. In terms of reading, I do a lot of history work, so I’m always reading about 18th century history, especially in Rhode Island. There’s a really good book called The Black Carib Wars by Christopher Taylor, about people who lived in the island of St. Vincent who successfully repelled multiple attempts at invasion. Specifically, these events called the Black Carib Wars where the British were trying to invade the island of St. Vincent. They were amongst the last islands to successfully repel European influence for many years. It’s an event I didn’t know about so much, so finding stuff like that, that’s history that’s totally cut out of what we learned about, is cool.

It was a cool Saturday afternoon when Ron came to the Ancient Runes study club classroom to see Professor Hui, excited butterflies fluttering in his stomach. It was going to be the first day of what Hui called their “wand aptitude tests” sessions, and Ron was both nervous and eager to find out just how different these sessions will be compared to his experience with Ollivander.

There was also a bit of good news Ron wanted to share. “I don’t know why it worked, but it did, Professor!” Ron said happily over the tea Hui served him—a light but distinct, slightly bittersweet herbaceous blend Hui called “matcha”—while raising Charlie’s old wand. “Charlie looked at me like I had gone a bit barmy when I told him about it, but after he asked the wand to play nice, it worked.” He paused. “Well, it’s not perfect, but at least it’s not actively trying to make my life hell.”

“I’m glad to hear it, Mr. Weasley,” Hui held the wand appraisingly before nodding. “The way this wand feels in my hands proves your statement. Of course, as you have said, it is not the perfect solution, as the wand may be doing this only out of respect to your brother. There is no way of knowing up to how far will the wand cooperate with you with that in mind.”

“It’s still mind-boggling how the wands act more sentient than I thought.” Ron said honestly. “Makes me wonder if talking to it will help. Like it getting to know me or something like that? Does that even make sense?”

Hui smiled. “Absolutely. Magical folk who showed respect towards wands and magical objects create the most steadfast of bonds with them, with some so strong that no one but those who the object consider their rightful owners can ever wield or touch them even. Can you think of any magical object that was strongly associated with any figure in history?”

Ron’s mind went back to the History of Magic lessons he had with Percy. “Err, Excalibur? King Arthur Pendragon’s sword?”

“Excalibur was the sword the Lady of the Lake handed to Arthur Pendragon in exchange for a favour, yes, but over time, Arthur managed to imprint a part of himself into that blade, the same way Excalibur did on him. The same can be said with Arthur’s first sword, Caliburn, which chose him to be the Once and Future King, the only one who could pull it out of the stone.” Hui paused for a sip of his tea. “And there are other examples throughout history I can name: Manannan mac Lir’s kin and Fragarach; his own descendant, Cú Chulainn and Gáe Bolg; Guān Yǔ, a legendary Chinese general hailed to be a war God, and the Qīng lóng yǎnyuèdāo; Parashurama then his pupil, Karna, and the bow, Vijaya, said to be a gift from the Hindu God of Destruction, Shiva. But since you’re not here for a history lesson, let’s move on, shall we?”

Ron blinked. “But aren’t most of them myths?”

“If that is what the storytellers want you to believe.” Hui said cryptically. “And whether you will believe that I have seen at least one of them with my own eyes or not is just as much up to you.”

Ron did a double-take. “You what?”

“We could discuss it further another time, as always. But we are here for your aptitude assessment."

“If Percy hadn’t told us about the surprise party he and the twins have been planning since yesterday, we never would have found out.” Harry said, still obviously miffed about it.

“Oi, it’s not that I can just go and tell you lot, ‘Oh, by the way, my birthday is on 1st of March, just so you know.’” He said in exasperation.

“And it’s just not fair, since you know all of our birthdays!” Hermione pointed out. “I don’t even know how you found out!”

Ron shrugged. “Harry’s and Neville’s were pretty obvious. As for yours, I have my ways.”

Neville shook his head. “You and your mysteries, Ron.”

“But I think it’s great you are part of the surprise. Really means a lot to me that you went through all the trouble.”

“We’re your friends, Ron!” Hermione said in exasperation. “And it’s no trouble, really. You’re the one who kept saying I needed a break from my books every now and then, weren’t you?”

Ron laughed. “Right.”

“And you looked like you needed the break too.” Neville added. “You’ve been looking out of sorts for a while now. It’s got nothing to do with the you-know-what, does it?”

The time traveler’s gut clenched at the worry in his friend’s eyes. He should have known his friends would have noticed his sudden change in mood. Did his brothers notice too, he wondered? Was that why they organised this surprise party?

What the hell are you doing, Ron?

“I’m really sorry about that, Nev. It wasn’t even anything too important anyway,” said Ron, “Was just too worried over what-if’s that I really can’t do anything about.”

“If it’s something we can help with, you know you can tell us,” Hermione said. “Well, even if it might not be something we can help with, you can tell us anyway.”

“My Gran always said that we shouldn’t try to worry too much about the future. Makes us lose sight of what’s in front of us.” Neville said kindly. “And besides, whatever it is, I’m sure you’ll be able to handle it!”

Ron winced. “I wish I knew where your faith in me is coming from, Nev.”

“And I wish I knew where yours kept disappearing to.” Harry said sharply.

“Somewhere in the real world, I reckon.” Ron shrugged. “But Neville’s right. No sense worrying too much over something that isn’t here yet. I’ll deal with it when it comes, just like I always do.” He clapped a hand on Harry’s shoulder. “And I’m glad I have such wicked mates to knock some sense into me whenever I get lost in my own head!”

And Ron meant it. Maybe it was a consequence of being a time traveler, but Ron became more prone to overthinking things and events to the point where he blocked everything else out. Having his friends there to pull him out of his self-made burrow of anxiety and careful planning helped in not only relieving him of some of that burden, but also in reminding him about the importance of what was in front of him right now.

But Norberta. Oh, Merlin, Norberta. That fucking dragon I can definitely do something about.

The introductions are...cold, to say the least

"Saber Class Servant, and none other than The Great Mammon, Avatar of Greed! I got better things to be doing, so don't go calling me whenever ya want, got it?!"

"Lancer Class...Leviathan. I have an mmorpg raid coming up, so I can't stick around."

"Berserker Class. My name is Satan. What? Are you surprised that I seem calm for a Berserker? It's quite alright; I get that reaction often enough. A word of advice: Be careful what you wish for."

"My name is Asmodeus, but you can call me Asmo darling! I'm a Caster, which is good. I can't mess up the work done on my nails and hair!"

"Hm...Oh? Sorry, I was thinking about lunch. Servant Class: Ruler. I'm Beelzebub, but most people call me Beel. Do you have any snacks on you?"

"Servant Class: Avenger. My name is Belphegor, but I doubt you'll be alive long enough to remember that. I won't do your dirty work for you, human."

You are just...done at that point. You are literally carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders and their attitudes are not helping

"Yeah, yeah, here's the gist: there's a war going on and we're trying to save the planet. The future's been incinerated, and it's our job to fix what went wrong. I don't have time for your uncooperation; get on board."

(Mash is worried for your mental health)

It takes some time, but they do manage to open up to you

The main catalyst for this is when they heard you talking to Robin Hood, who was summoned in France

"Say, Master...I gotta ask: Why are you doing this?"

You pause what you're doing, shooting him an incredulous look. "You mean saving the world?" You ask in return.

He shrugs, tilting his head forward in a slight nod. "Yeah. There's other people who could do this, aren't there?"

"There isn't." The brothers hear you say firmly. Beel almost went in because he wanted a snack, but the others held him back; the conversation had peaked their interest, and they wanted to hear what you had to say.

"Robin..." Your voice comes out strained, as if you were barely holding yourself together. "I watched innocent people die in front of me. Good people. The world outside is gone. I can't even go see my family, because they're dead. I'm not expecting you to understand, but it hurts so bad that somedays I don't feel like getting up. If I die, it's all over; humanity's done. I'll never be able to see my family's smiles again, I'll never be able to hear their laughter; I'll...I'll never be able to go back home.

"So, instead of asking why I'm doing this, you should be asking "How far are you willing to go?" instead."

Robin is silent for a while. Mammon shifts on his feet. The Green Archer finally speaks, somber but curious tone filling the air. "And? What's the verdict, Master?"

Your voice has a tone of finality to it that shoots them back to the past, back towards the Celestial War. It's final, but it's tired. "Whatever it takes."

(And, so, the brothers come to understand and even sympathize with your situation a little bit. You had to fight for the sake of others without rest, you were a leader, you were a savior, but most of all...you were alone. And something about that didn't sit right with them.)

They would fit in perfectly with Chaldea's dynamics, actually

Mammon has a gold sword he lovingly calls Goldie (yes it changes into his beloved credit card)

His Noble Phantasm is literally him raising his sword and mountains of Grimm burying his opponents from the sky as he cackles out:

"Don't worry, I'll take all that money off ya hands!"

Or, in a proud declaration:

"My sword is my love, and my love is my sin. I'll take all that you have on ya! STULTUS IN AVARITA!!"

Leviathan's weapon is his trident

He's surprised that he wasn't summoned as a Rider, once he got used to the "Class" thing (which was fairly quick, he's seen an anime like this before). I mean, he has a giant snake named Henry 1.0 and Lothan that he would've loved to fight side by side with

He usually doesn't fight, but he proves to be invaluable in Okeanos since he has knowledge on war strategies at sea

His Noble Phantasm is a bit strange, but endearing (sad). He rushes forward with his trident glowing, saying either:

"I can't get the latest Ruri-chan merch because you blew up the world...I won't forgive you. I can't forgive you!"

Or, in a somber tone:

"Even though it's fun, a gamer's life becomes stifling if you keep playing by yourself. I hope you're watching, (Y/N)! EX SOLA INVIDIA!!"

Satan? Even though he's a Berserker, he behaves more like a Caster (initially)

Asmo’s skill is charming his enemy, which confuses most people since you’d think it’d be his Noble Phantasm

Instead, it boosts his allies’ attacks and NP by 30%

“Don’t get too hurt out there~!”

Beel’s Noble Phantasm heals all allies and increases their attack

“We can’t fight on an empty stomach.”

(Once he hits his last Ascension, your party gets the added bonus of him attacking a single enemy with a lance. All other Ascensions has him using his fists for attacks.)

Belphie’s Noble Phantasm is almost as violent as Satan’s, and yes...he chokes out a single enemy out (rip MC)

“HA! You think I’d work with the likes of you, a lowly human? Get out of my sight.”

It’s Instant Death, unless Evasion or Invincibility is activated

Lucifer’s pride is a bit wounded. He’s a Rider, of all things??

(...He eventually gets used to it though)

His Noble Phantasm is him literally mounting Cerberus and raising his spear towards the heavens, looking as radiant as the days before the Fall

And Cerberus runs forth, either chomping the enemy in two or breathing fire at them and turning them into ash. (It hits everyone)

Satan and Jekyll hang out a lot because, well...they’re a lot alike

Mammon can and will do stupid shit with the Cu Squad and you cannot change my mind

One time he teamed up with Cascu to steal the other Cu’s spears (Mammon wanted to sell them on Akuzon), and well...half of Chaldea is still in repair to this day

Merlin of all Servants is the one to look after Belphie and Beel

They usually hang out in the garden Robin tends to, Asterios occasionally joining them while bringing both food and Euryale

Asmo frequently visits Medea, dragging Medusa into their group

(Dantes grows fond of Beel overtime, I mean Beel is just so pure there’s no way you couldn’t like him)

Lucifer and EMIYA butt heads at first, but they end up becoming friends despite that

Lucifer admires EMIYA’s skill to keep up with Servants who have a black hole for a stomach, and EMIYA admires Lucifer’s skill to round up his brothers effortlessly when the need to arises (or so he thinks, because he does not know about the Hate Lucifer Club which is run by Satan and Belphie).

He shows her new animes and games, and even though she’s confused most of the time she never fails to listen to his ramblings, nodding whenit was appropriate

Asmo also drags him into his group (consisting of Medea and Medusa), offering to paint his nails as they talk about anything and everything

Simeon is a Lancer and you can’t change my mind

He’s more of a buffer for your team, like Asmo. His skills are primarily healing, and his NP saps the health of an opponent while healing someone other than himself with that health (he cannot heal himself)

He gets along great with Karna!! The two are so nice and kind that it hurts to look at them both for too long

Solomon tells him about the gossip Asmo has on the other Servants. He always listens with an amused look on his face.

Luke is a smol Caster, but he will not hesitate to break your kneecaps

He, too, is a buffer for your team

“I’ll defend you from those demons, (Y/N)!”

His Noble Phantasm heals all allies, restoring their health by 20%

He bakes with Fsn Cu at night, having Proto Cu and Robin Hood try out his sweets. Beel is there 10/10 times, eating any failures or rejects

Diavolo is Ruler Class because he is literally the Ruler of Hell

Surprisingly (to you, at first), he’s the one who always asks to accompany you. He’s very open and considerate, wanting to help wherever and whenever he can

“The Human Realm is essential if we are to establish harmony between the three Realms. Without it there...angels and demons would fight each other for eternity.”

He tells you about his ideas for an exchange program and you offer him input

His Noble Phantasm is applying Invincibility to two allies for 3 turns after dealing heavy damage to a single enemy (cannot apply Invincibility to himself)

He likes to talk with Caster Gil and Archer Gil about their past, going to Ko Gil on occasion. He helps look after the child Servants, and he can often be found reading bedtime stories to them

(Everyone was scared of him at first once they found out who he was, so he usually held off revealing his True Identity)

Barbatos, at first glance, seems like an Archer...but in reality is an Assassin

(HE CONTROLS TIME FOR F*S SAKE)

His Noble Phantasm, depending on the enemy selected, can revive a fallen ally and add them to the Sub Team

(This is only if the enemy that killed the ally is selected)

This stuns him for 3 turns no matter what

He likes to chat with the Tamamo that helps EMIYA in the kitchen. How the two are communicating without issues is up to anyone’s guess

Finally finished LB4, much belatedly. 

Anyway, basic ranking is 3 > 4 > 2 > 1. 

So taking it from the top, Minase definitely put in an effort that is far beyond anything we’ve seen from him so far. Obviously, there is a lack of any inappropriate content like Agartha or even the sketchier stuff from Ooku. But even beyond that, there is definitely a lot of effort put into the story structure. There’s an impressive amount of research in regard to the mythology and even history that went into the characters. And of course, the plot also has a fair amount of details. 

Outstanding points: 

The Yuga wheel was very cool. The way it shifted and then when it finally broke, very good imagery. 

The last scene with Asha was painful in the best way. 

As has been mentioned, it’s great seeing Karna have a strong reaction toward Arjuna, since it often feels one-sided otherwise. Their reactions to each other and their dialogue at the end were great. 

Pepe was amazing, and his cooperation with Asvatthaman, short as it was, really had a nice vibe. Crypters and their Servants are really an important part of Lostbelts, and these two were especially good. 

The characters largely all have their own stuff going on, and everyone had a wrap up. Stuff like Tell going on like a champ, or Asclepius stalling Limbo and then getting a closing scene with a boy. 

Goredolf continues to slowly carve out his place as a permanent support character. 

It was nice seeing Rama again, just personally. 

Arjuna just totally losing his shit at the end and becoming extremely expressive, compared to his previous vagueness, was very good. 

The main theme with regard to perfection and flaws was pretty thoroughly stated and discussed. 

As a whole, I don’t really have any concrete complaints about the story or the characters. This is why it ranks over LB2, which was a long slog until the very end when it started hitting me emotionally all of a sudden. 

However, I’ll just bluntly say that LB4 didn’t really evoke much feeling from me until basically Asha’s last scene. 

I’ll discuss some points is to why I think that was, but on the whole, it probably just comes down to writing style, because the story itself is fine and I can even see where it’s supposed to be having an impact. It just didn’t work for me. 

In terms of specifics...

First, the writing is still quite unpolished. Even without the content issues Agartha had, you can still tell it’s Minase because he slips up and does his usual “have a character repeat their gimmick ad nauseum.” Like Rama saying he’s a king every three sentences. Some of it can be attributed to him grandstanding (tho he didn’t do this in America), but there is at least twice as much of that as would be acceptable. Lakshmi is similar with her being a queen and being unlucky, or even William Tell and shooting an apple off his son’s head. There are other areas that come across like this, like the endless amounts of thought parentheses and internal monologues. Those are good, but not when there’s this many. The ideas aren’t bad, but the execution often lets them down somewhat. 

Second, working from that, quite a few plot elements kinda feel disconnected or not well clarified. The Skyboulder business is like that. It’s not a particularly complicated concept, even though its quite ambiguous and vague, but when it actually happens, it doesn’t feel like it does anything. There’s no sense of climax, even though we achieve something huge. 

Third, while the characters are individually pretty good, there aren’t really a lot of relationships that get screen time while also explaining themselves. Lakshmi Bai and Captain circle around each other and then have what seems to be a confrontation, but it doesn’t feel like it has any weight and it vaguely references historical things that we aren’t going to know, frankly. Pepe and Asvatthaman are great, but they are separated by plot except for like two scenes. Jinako and Karna are probably the best built relationship, but it requires knowing CCC at the core. I know summaries, so I get what it’s supposed to be, but it doesn’t have any impact for me. I have no idea how anyone who doesn’t know CCC is supposed to take this. tbh I thought FGO left this issue behind around Camelot, so it’s a bit disappointing to see it again. 

The only relationship that actually follows more or less well is Karna and Arjuna, since we already saw that in America. It also has very few scenes, since Karna is absent most of the LB, but it does well with what it gets.  

This stuff is basically why I rate it below LB3. For me, LB3 was a bit rushed in places, but otherwise had a lot of good impact. Stuff like Moth and his offbrand servant team and their deep belief in the superior nature of their world, or Yu Mei-ren with both Prince of Lanling and Xiang Yu. I dunno, it just hit better for me.

May 31, 2021 The much awaited film Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai released on Eid, on May 13, and though it got record streams, the audience response was not encouraging. The majority of the critics panned the film. The film starred Salman Khan and at one point, his films were not just big money spinners but also made a section of viewers happy. Today, his films might still be making money but the word of mouth is increasingly becoming negative. Besides Radhe, even Dabangg 3 (2019) and Race 3 (2018) were not well received. Bharat (2019) received mixed response and hence, underperformed.

We asked trade experts to speak on this issue and we have documented their thoughts in this must-read, two-part series. The first part focused on what is going wrong on the part of the superstar. In this article, we would focus on the course correction and the way forward for him.

How should Salman get back in top form?

So what should be the way forward for him and what course correction is needed at his end? Trade analyst Taran Adarsh says, “I would love to see him working with filmmakers like Sanjay Leela Bhansali or S S Rajamouli. He’s in the most commanding position right now. He can pick up the phone, call the biggest of directors and tell them that ‘I want to work you’. No one would refuse with him. For a filmmaker, it’ll be a godsend opportunity to work with Salman.”

Girish Johar, producer and film business analyst, believes, “Salman completely needs to reinvent himself. He is still stuck 5-6 years behind. Meanwhile, in the pandemic, OTT jo 5 saal mein grow karna tha, woh 2 saal mein kar gaya. Audiences consumed so much of exciting content from around the world that their tastes evolved faster than normal.” He continues, “Salman needs to ensure that he gets smart content in his films. And that will come from smart and good writers and smart and contemporary directors. This will enable him to tap into the young audience which will also throng to the theatres in cities.”

Trade analyst Atul Mohan makes it clear as he says that “Salman Khan should surrender himself to the maker.” Trade expert Komal Nahta meanwhile emphasizes, “If someone says that Salman should start doing different kind of cinema, I don’t think that is the answer. People like him the way he is – cool dude, well dressed, looking handsome, romancing girls etc. He should continue doing all that. But in this kind of setup, he should have something new to offer in every film. For that, he should have a good team of writers and give them a free hand. He should get on board a worthy director. The content is going wrong and these methods can help that. And this is a minor aberration which can be corrected. It’s not like people have begun to hate him. So I don’t think there’s any need to ring alarm bells in the case of Salman’s career.”

Tiger 3: Salman ka stardom zinda hai

Thankfully, Salman Khan has a trump card in the form of Tiger 3. The first two parts were huge blockbusters and hence, the expectations from Part 3 are humongous. Komal Nahta says confidently, “100% he’ll bounce back with Tiger 3. If anybody thinks Salman is over, that’s bullsh*t! He is still looking fantastic and he knows what the audience wants. One correct script and he’ll show the world what he’s capable of.”

Taran Adarsh shares similar views while Girish Johar says, “There’s no doubt Tiger 3would be something to watch out for. At the end of the day, audiences in India are star savvy. But they also see how content is packaged. It’s not that people don’t want to see Salman. It’s just one trailer that does the trick. And from whatever we have heard of Tiger 3, it looks like a film that has a huge potential. And I said before, Salman is the biggest star that we have.”

As for Atul Mohan, he too feels that Tiger 3 can do wonders for Salman’s career, “Producer Aditya Chopra knows how to do justice to Salman’s stardom. Even with Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali, Salman Khan will know that he’s in safe hands as Sajid Nadiadwala had presented him so well in Kick (2014).”

Trolls might say that the career of Salman Khan is finished but of course, it’s far from truth, say experts. Atul Mohan retorts, “You can’t write off a star like Salman Khan. From the beginning, he has not cared about critics. When he experimented with Tubelight (2017), people gave thumbs down. Aap usko mauka hi nahi de rahe ho. But he can’t risks as well. And it’s not like he’s doing the same roles. He proved his worth in films like Tere Naam (2003) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Even in Bodyguard (2011), he played the part with innocence. In Kick, he was cunning while he essayed a simpleton in Bajrangi Bhaijaan. And in Tiger films, he’s the one man army.”

He adds, “Uski kharab films bhi Rs. 125 crore ka dhanda karke de deti hai. Dabangg 3, Tubelight and Race 3 also did Rs. 100+ crore. His stardom is unmatched. The job of a star is to get audiences to cinemas. After that, the content has to do the talking. So if his films are opening in Rs. 30-40 crore range, it means that his stardom is intact. Even if he does 1 or 2 films that are massy and yet well-made, it’ll give a lot of boost to his brand.”

Komal Nahta feels one should not take the negativity seriously, “Lot of memes were made on social media on Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai. But this is the time when Bollywood is on a slippery wicket; you have to accept ki yeh sab chalta rahega. It’ll take a couple of years to fizzle out. Bollywood stars are the best punching bags. This will go on, whether or not you make a hit film or a flop fare.” Even he’s in awe of how his films open to full houses on Day 1. He exclaims, “Opening mein hi Salman kaccha chaba jaate hai sab ko!”

Taran Adarsh signs off by making a plea to the superstar, “Please listen to the public mandate. Your fans would love you anyway; they would still come and watch your films. But deep down, they must be wondering why he is doing such films when he’s capable of much more.”

“I understand your concerns Diavolo, however, I- we cannot put our minds to ease without seeing her.”

Lucifer taps his fore finger impatiently, Diavolo sensing him on edge.

“Lucifer, and I mean this with no offence, but seriously… Do you think they’ll let you, let alone your brothers see her? It is said a great barrier guards that place, for the fortress that it is. You may not be able to get through the barrier.”

Lucifer inhales deeply. “I’m well aware of the magic that safe guards the mansion. Rest assured, I have thought this through. There will be no conflict, you have my word, and my loyalty. I will not threaten the very goal you seek to accomplish.”

“Lucifer, I do not question your loyalty, but your heart.”

Lucifer’s eyes widen, “Pardon?”

“You and your brothers have not experienced the power of the dark king and his disciples, the very same energy flows through us all here. If we’re not careful, any one of us, can become mindless puppets to his dismay. I believe in your words, but the darkness is stirring, spreading with in the shadows. My informant tells me even earth seems to have a spike in chaos, I worry you and your brothers will not be able to contain the force of energy that festers.”

“I will grant this little trip, but mark my words Lucifer. If anything happens, there will be punishments. Regardless of who started it or not.” Diavolo warned before dismissing him.

Lucifer walked out if the castle, outside waiting anxiously, 6 of his brothers.

Belphie quickly asks “Well?”

“We’re clear to go, we have been warned. Anything happens, there will BE consequences.” Lucifer looks to Mammon and Satan when he said the last words. “So, BEHAVE.”

Leon laughs, “I don’t know if their incredibly brave or incredibly stupid.” Taking another swig from his wine.

Teorus with a look of disappointment, “Goldie is going to be sad; she’s wished so badly just to see them. They’ll be within ear shot and were told we have to keep her away?” Shaking his head. “I don’t want to make Goldie sad...”

Partheno - “Teo you seem to forget; we’re dealing with demons. Not your average soul, Goldie’s heart has probably already been manipulated by these said demons.”

“Y/N!”

Everyone cocks an eyebrow to Karno.

“Her name is Y/N, can’t you at least call her by her name…”

“My, my has she manipulated you now Karno?” Partheno says mockingly.

Karno gives Partheno a serious look, eyebrows pinching together.

You were just finishing your bath, surprisingly, since your return you hadn’t had anyone knocking at your door. Not even the trickster was trying anything, you felt something amiss. After dressing, you decide to take a walk through the halls.

You weren’t familiar with this voice, then you heard Karna belt your name.

Nearly pissing your pants!

You freeze and the conversation continues, “Her name is Y/N, can’t you at least call her by her name…”

Yikes, you thought you had been found out… You were about to sneak away when you heard Minister Jackass speak.

“None of that matters. The King declares when those filthy scumbags show, we drive them away. Make it very clear where we stand and where their places are!”

You froze again.

Containing a squeal of joy, doing a mental happy dance. Which you quickly disengaged when you remembered the difference between them and well... them.

The void between them was huge… Nothing like the issues between brothers, this goes beyond anything you could understand or fix for the matter.

Asmo skips about, “I absolutely love Tokyo” Spinning around in the street “the culture is fascinating!”

Belphie too was constantly in wonder, “Things really have changed since I last visited!”

“Quickly, I will not miss the train because of your tourism!” Lucifer snapped hurryingly along the busy crowds.

How the seven of them managed to make it to the train in time was indeed surprising. Mammon wanted to buy everything he’d seen (or get Lucifer too anyways). Levi was stunned by all the manga on display nearby, Beel wondering off, due to the smell of food carrying on the wind.

In the end they made the train, just in time. It was going to be at least an hour and forty-five-minute ride before their stop.

“So, Lucifer how exactly do you know where we need to go?”

Lucifer peaks over to Asmo who has his head lent against the side, examining his nails.

“The House of Gods has always been in the same place, only… As time goes on, they have changed the way it looks to keep up with relevancy.”

“But… Didn’t you say it was in a run-down mansion? Not exactly keeping it up?”

“It’s a safety measure...” Lucifer says in almost a whisper.

“A what now?” Satan steps into the conversation “Why would gods need a safety measure?”

“…”

“Yo guys, can we like, stop. Or has it slipped your minds Lucifer used to serve those arrogant snobs.” Mammon inputs, staring out the window at the city passing by.

“…”

The rest of the ride was quiet, everyone seemed to be mentally preparing themselves.

They exited the train station and walked on foot, Lucifer led them out the city and into a well forested area. The further in they went, the more dread crept in.

“YOOOOOOOOO, guys we need a break. I’m not like this feeling, not one bit!” Mammon sluggishly tucks in behind Levi.

Levi “Why do I feel like my body is made of the heaviest of led… Like the time the Lord of Shadows was cursed, before Henry came along and saved him.”

Lucifer turned around and met each of his brothers’ eyes, “Like I said, safety measures.”

“Are we walking into a barrier?” Belphie asks, leaning on Beel.

Lucifer ridicules, “We haven’t even reached the barrier yet... Far from.”

They all share a quick look of horror before Lucifer ushers them to keep going.

House of Gods

“Don’t lie to us, we’re gods. Lying to a god is a punishable offence.” The one with pink hair said with the perviest smile.

“Enough Partheno, you’ll scare the poor thing.” Teorus skips up to you “Hiya Goldie, it is naughty though ease dropping on us like that.” Shaking his finger at you.

You seemed to have found yourself surrounded next, even if you wanted to run, where could you run too.

“L-look, I didn’t hear much, o-okay. Something about knowing where someone s-stands...” You lie again.

Leon stands up from his seat, placing his wine glass down and marching up to you.

“Your filthy friends are coming… You want to see them, yes?”

Your knees begin shaking when he asks you, you want to nod, fear takes hold and you find yourself just staring at him.

Leon gave you mixed feelings, fear and….

Arousal? No matter how much you tried to push it away, it surfaced.

They were definitely one thousand times scarier, and more mind boggling, than anyone you’d met in Devildom.

You finally said something, but in almost a whisper “Why are you all so mean, aren’t you supposed to be gods.” tears begin to form, voice breaking “I didn’t ask for any of this, I have been nothing but respectful, why are you so hateful…”

A few faces in the room seemed to be shocked by your courage to speak so outright.

Scorpio though not impressed, “Stupid woman, we’re gods! We’re meant to strike fear into the hearts of mortals.”

Your eyes never leaving Leon, he reached out and swiped a tear that slid down your cheek. Your cheek goes blazing hot upon contact.

“For someone SOO brave, you sure do cry a lot, huh”

Demon Lords Castle

“Barbatos, what have you seen?” Diavolo looks to him entering the room.

Barbatos bows deeply “My lord, they’ve reached the area, it’s going to be a struggle to get even close to the house…. I worry whether they’ll have the strength to be able to leave in time…”

“Barbatos, I asked what did you see?” Diavolo’s expression shifting.

His eyes close before answering, “This is going to be a physical and mental challenge for them ALL. I’m afraid there’s no returning from this point, not without Y/N.”

Diavolo nods his head in thought, “Our little friend certainly knows how to deal with those boys” smiling softly after.

“THEY, need her too...” Barbatos looks at Diavolo, with a smile on his face.

“Explain”

In the depths far from devildom

Far from prying eyes, deep within crusted rock and molten lava. An old fortress made of stone, destroyed and crumbling. Miasma air, filled with the smell of death.

A relic of the past.

“My Liege you are free at last! We have long awaited your return!” Shadows hooded and cloaked.

“We can take revenge on all those who defy you! Give us your orders, let us do your bidding!!” another shadow spews like a snake.

The Dark King slowly opens his eyes, “More, I need more!” Tossing away a lifeless body. “This incubus and all the others are not enough! I need the girl… The one with the power! BRING ME THE GIRL!!!!!”

As he screeched his orders all shadows dissipated, he sunk back into his broken throne of stone. Eyes swirling with discord.

Hissing, “I will destroy everything, and anyone who stands in my way… I will have your life and my vengeance, goddess!”

“Mark my words.”

The House of Gods

Karno stepped in to give you some space from the others, you used that moment and broke out. Sprinting as fast as you could, “Y/N!?!” a few voices sounded from behind.

You ran, down hallways and corridors, just running like your life depended on it (probably did). Somehow, found yourself in an open area. You ran down a flight of steps, and through the first door you seen. Stepping out and realising you had found the front door outside.

Mentally preparing yourself to run straight into the bushes and trees ahead.

Just as you caught your breath and ready to run again, a hand from behind gripped your arm tightly.

You screamed, “AHHHHHH”

“Let go of me!” turning around –

It’s Leon. Eyes reflecting, like a predator caught its prey in the night.

The brothers were dragging themselves…

“Have we reached the barrier yet? We must of by now, I feel like my insides are going to combust!” Asmo breathlessly claims.

All of them looked worse for wears, even Lucifer was beginning to sweat profoundly.

In the distance they heard a very familiar scream.

“Y/N!?!?!?!”

They conjured whatever strength they had stored deep within and rush towards the direction the scream sounded from.

“Where on earth do you think you’re going” Leon licks his lips before they curve up into a conniving smile.

You tried to shake him off, and in that moment a voice from behind.

“I do believe I heard her say ‘let go’!”

Lucifer and the others stand breathlessly, in their demon forms.

Leon forces you into his chest, and aggressively holds there. “Well, well, well, we’d been expecting you.” You couldn’t see his face, but his chest rumbled, and you felt an aura of power and wind surround you two.

“Y/N *huff* are you okay?!” Mammon looked like shit, but his face was full of concern. “Yo man, *huff* let her go!”

Leon growled, “You dare give me orders, scum!”

“YOU, DON’T GET TO CALL HIM THAT!” Satan radiates

Flashes of lights blurred your vision momentarily, and then 10 figures were standing infront of you and Leon.

A gasp was heard from Beel and Belphie, “YOU!” Eyes staring bewildered at Tauxolouve.

Flashback…

During the Celestial War it was Tauxolouves’ arrows that pierced through Lilith like a down pour of rain.

Tauxolouve stood tall, eyes never wondering from Belphie and Beel.

Scorpio stepped forward. “You’re still alive, that’s a pity. I’m going to have to dirty my gloves finishing you off.” Eyeing them in disgust.

Lucifer adjusted his posture and the feathers on his black wings ruffle.

“…”

“We’re not here to fight, *huff* I think it’s clear we’re at a disadvantage… We came to see Y/N…” Mammon barely huffs out.

“Cowardly as ever, aren’t you Mammon.” Krioff barks out.

Mammon laughs, “… *huff* and your still as grumpy as ever, pal”

“I AM NOT YOUR PAL!”

Another light shines, separating the brothers and the gods with a wall of pure light.

“That’s quite enough.”

Huedaut takes place between.

“Hello boys, it’s been a long time, hasn’t it?” His eyes twinkling and sight falling on Satan “and you must be Satan, yes? Avatar of Wrath.”

Satan’s angry scowl turned into one of shock. He had no idea who this person was, but yet felt an incredible sense of respect and warmth towards him. His calming in emotions caused him to change back from his demon form.

You were held in place, powerless, onlooking to the scene ahead. The moment Huedaut appeared, all their attention was focused on him. Faces changing into sadness, and guilt, though eyes reflecting empathy.

“Hue, we have our orders!” Zyglavis steps next to Scorpio “Would you go against you Kings wishes?!”

Lucifer caught a glimpse of sadness flash in Huedaut eyes when Zyglavis spoke.

“No, I would not, however, contrary to his orders. He stated, ‘Drive them away, show them where we stand and their place’. In which, I have.” Hue turned to Zyglavis “We are here, they are there.” Pointing to each sides of the barrier. “There will be no violence, I’m sure there will be enough to come.” His eyes fleeting to you, before quickly casting them away.

“…father….” Beel slips out.

Huedaut straightens his spine and adjusts his cufflinks “Boys, as you can see your friend is alright, rest assured. Leave quickly, you won’t be able to hold out much longer.”

You tried to yell “Go n-“ till a hand clamped your mouth shut.

“You should have been destroyed when you turned your backs against the heavens, ungrateful swine’s.” Leon pulled you inside.

Dragging you along against him, you don’t know what happened outside.

Your heart was breaking, into tiny little fragments, a moment of nostalgia. As if you’ve experienced it once before.

Leon dragged you into another unfamiliar room, throwing you onto the bed. Before you could react, his body was pressed fiercely onto yours. You managed to get your hands on his chest and try with dear might to push him away, with fail.

“So, tell me goldfish, what makes you SO special? Hmm, you’ve got demons wrapped around your little finger, you’ve got MY vice minister, and you even have Hue. Why don’t you show me what makes you so special then?” face inches away, eyes blazing hungerly.

Who you think he'd get along well with?

Cu Alter? Nooot a lot. People who know to Mind Their Own and stay the hell out of his way and space. Once you meet those requirements, you’re in the Tolerance Zone. Which is where pretty much everyone hangs out. He wont outright leave if you’re in the Tolerance Zone, but he wont make any effort to interact with you.

Some people in this zone can manage to make their way closer without getting stabbed, and can even hold short conversations! That’s the Acceptance Zone, and so far, I think only Karna has made it- extremely perceptive of others needs, also oblivious to his own safety. He’s also not pretentious, and while he has his values and ideals, he doesn’t go around yelling about them constantly. I think he’d also be alright with Fuuma-kun, because of his unusual ninja tactics and quiet demeanour. While Fuuma would never really make a good ‘lets go slaughter some mobs for fun.’ type person, the fact that he puts aside his own discomfort to serve his Master’s needs would earn at least a nod of respect from Cu Alter, who is very Aware of his purpose and duty as a Servant.

A/N: For the Chaldeas Grand Road Trip Zine (on Twitter)! The basic premise was to write diary entries from Mash’s PoV, talking about her worldwide vacation (with Senpai and all the servants, of course!). I got assigned the Food section (did they know I’m a glutton? XD). I tried to inject the premise in the story, so it should be understandable even without reading the others/seeing the pictures.

Summary: Dear Diary, I never knew the world could be so big. That it could have so many people and places and things to do. It’s one thing to fight your way across a singularity, another to take the time to enjoy yourself. I think I like having a vacation. From, Mash

Road Trip Day: X

There are so many things to see and do in the world! I mean, I knew that before we went on vacation; traveling with Senpai to the singularities showed me that much. You can’t go to Rome, Egypt, or cross the entire United States without realizing that. But most of our journey was spent fighting monsters and servants; we’re so busy saving the world we didn’t really get time to explore.

 Well, I did explore little, but you can't tell Senpai that. Not that you can, you're just a digital log entry…I'll just have to make sure Senpai doesn't see this myself. They can't know I gave anything less than 100% to helping them out, no matter how interesting the winding roads were.  

 Now that we aren’t in a hurry, I’ve just realized how big the world is. Normally we’re running from place to place (or being catapulted from place to place, I really hope we don’t do that again) and with a Servant’s speed, it didn’t take that long to cross entire countries. The cars we’re using now are slower; Da Vinci said she wanted a leisurely trip. Every time I look out the window, the scenery is so different—I never knew there could be so many different kinds of cities or even trees. Every time I blink, I miss something.

Last night, Da Vinci pulled out a map and put pins on all the places we’ve gone to. Amazingly, that’s just a tiny fraction of the world! One day, I would like to see every city on that map. With Senpai, of course. I wonder if they like travelling? Ishtar happened to be floating by and she declared we needed to eat out more often. I think Romani was trying to save money by having Emiya cook. When I told her that, she snorted and said we had royalty and gods with us, so money wasn’t an issue. (I don’t think that’s true.) She also said that no matter how good a cook Emiya was, we needed to try new things. Later, I’ll tell Emiya that a goddess complimented his cooking. I’m sure that’ll make him happy!

 Funnily enough, Hokusai poked her head in and agreed with Ishtar. She pulled out these little sculptures she’d made (I guess she’s not only a painter) and placed them on the board at the places she wanted to visit. Apparently, Paris is a great place to eat. And to pick up women, but I’m sure Senpai won’t do that.

 Probably.

 Well, even if Senpai did, they have their hands full with all of us. I’m not sure it was a great idea to go on vacation with every servant, but Senpai didn’t want to leave anyone behind. They’re really admirable but I’m worried about their health. It must be exhausting keeping us all around. I’ll have to make sure to keep an eye out for them. Maybe one day I can pay them back, impress them like they’ve impressed me.

 The little figurines Hokusai made are really cute! There’s one for the Eiffel Tower, the Leaning Tower, and the Pyramids. Shuten put down one that was shaped like a wine glass on Italy and said we had to go there. Italy is filled with many, many vineyards and “we can’t miss even one delectable ambrosia,” as she put it. Excited, Da Vinci started booking some tours, but Romani quickly vetoed the whole thing. I think he regretted saying anything immediately, since all four servants glared at him.

 Now that I’m remembering it, I might have to protect him. Shuten is an assassin, after all.

 When we started talking about food, it was funny how red Ishtar got after all of her suggestions. Apparently, she really wanted to eat burgers. The second she said that, she looked at everyone like she was waiting to be insulted, saying that she knew a goddess shouldn’t eat such poor food. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it myself.

Shuten said she wanted to have some Baijiu. Romani started to point out that it was alcohol too but the second she looked at him, he shut up…

 I am definitely checking up on him when I’m done writing. Maybe Senpai and I can sleep with him tonight, just to make sure nothing happens.

 “Obviously, I’ll have pasta,” Da Vinci said, but I’m pretty sure she’s going to find a way to go to those vineyards. Houksai said she was fine eating anywhere there were beautiful people so she wanted to go to a runway in Milan to eat. Maybe we’ll get to see a fashion show too, that would be really interesting!

 It’s funny, but Archer is such a good cook, I sometimes forget that even he can’t cook everything. Even with Tamano Cat and some of the other servants pitching in to help, there are a lot of dishes we don’t get at Chaldea. I think I want to try eating some of the curries in India; we don’t really get spicy food that often. Hopefully, my tongue won’t burn too much.

 I wonder what Senpai wants to eat?

  Road Trip Day: X

Remember that map I talked about before? Well, we got to fulfill Ishtar’s dreams first! America’s huge, far bigger than any of the other countries we’ve been to. I should have expected that when we criss-crossed the country before, for that singularity, but there’s something still very impressive about it. Every place here looks so different from one another and somehow they all fit in one country! And the roads are so long, somehow we can go for hours without seeing a major city.

 Anyways, when we stopped for lunch today, we got burgers. Emiya wrinkled his nose when we entered, but he didn’t say anything. I think he’s feeling a little jealous these days since he hasn’t had to cook much. When we get back, I’ll make sure to ask him for food.

 The restaurant was a big place, with plenty of booths to sit in, but no place is big enough to fit all of us in it. Artoria practically dashed to the counter and immediately ordered every burger on the menu. Senpai looked at the queue of sabers and said that we should take turns, so the place wasn’t entirely overwhelmed. Considering how much Camelot’s King eats, in all of her forms, I thought Senpai’s plan was doomed to fail from the start. Don’t tell Senpai that, though. They’re trying their best to make sure we all have an equally fun vacation.

 Despite Senpai’s suggestion, Mordred joined the queue of Artorias, looking really happy that she could eat with her fathers. I wonder what she thinks about having so many dads, it must be complicated.

 Ozymandias and Cleopatra weren’t really interested in eating commoner’s fare, as they put it. They opted instead to dine with Gil and Iskander and they had a picnic outside. I think they missed out, personally, but I can see why they didn’t want to come. Can you imagine Gil eating a burger, ketchup dripping down his hands, mustard on his lips? He’d destroy the restaurant and us in it.

 Nitocris looked really nervous when the other pharaohs asked her to join them. She said yes but kept playing with her hands and looking away at us. There was something really frantic about the way she did that. Thinking it was a secret message, I winked and gave her a thumbs up. It must have been the wrong thing because she looked really depressed after that. Luckily, Senpai was much better at reading minds because they asked Nitocris to join us. Even then, Nitocris hesitated until Ozymandias clapped her on the back, pushing her forward. He asked her to tell him what commoners ate these days. Wouldn’t it be better if he just joined us then?

 Still, he, Cleopatra, and Nitocris look really close. Hopefully I’ll be that close with Senpai too one day.

 Sheba joined us as well. I wonder why, she didn’t seem like the type to like such places. By the time we got in, the staff looked exhausted. Ishtar was worried but luckily they still had food left. Did they know that they fed royalty and gods today?

 There were so many burgers on the menu, I didn’t know what to pick. Nitocris kept muttering under her breath how she had to pick the most dignified burger. How do you decide what a ‘dignified burger’ is? Ishtar didn’t have any issues; she ordered three different ones with extra fries and double patties. When we looked at her, she huffed and said she wanted to try multiple ones and “I’m a goddess, I can eat whatever I want to! Stop judging me!”

 I wasn’t judging her!

 Senpai picked a simple burger and I copied them. That way, we could compare later.

 The servers kept staring Sheba the whole time. Actually, everyone kept staring at her. Sometimes they’d look at Ishtar and Nitocris but then they’d go back to her. I wonder what part was stranger: her clothing or her ears? I’ve gotten used to it by now, but I keep forgetting it’s not normal everywhere else.

 The burgers they gave us were huge! I could barely fit my hands around them and ketchup and pickles kept falling out of the bun. It was a messy, messy meal. By the end of it, Senpai’s hands were covered in ketchup and pickle juice and there was a stain on her shirt. Oddly enough, Sheba didn’t have any issues. While I kept having small nibbles, she ate the whole thing in big, quick bites. I guess she was really hungry.

 Oh, Senpai’s calling me! We have to do laundry today so our clothes don’t stain.

 Karna and Arjuna were at it again today. Well, ‘at it’ makes it sound like they always fight, which isn’t exactly the case. They’re old friends (kinda, at least I don’t think they’re rivals anymore) and they often are on the opposite sides of things. Actually, putting it like that really makes it sound like all they do is fight. But they don’t argue like, say, Nero and Elizabeth.

 No one fights like those two.

 Karna came out of nowhere and asked Senpai if he could take them out for lunch. With all that Senpai’s done for him, he wanted to show a little gratitude and give something back. He’s so considerate! Of course, Senpai being Senpai, they said that it wasn’t needed (they’re so kind!), but Karna insisted. As we headed out, Arjuna appeared and asked if he could treat me! I think he didn’t want to be one-upped by Karna but I haven’t really done anything to get any thanks. When I said that, he shook his head and said that I helped out a lot. That without me, Senpai might not have made it as far as they did.

 I’d never thought about it like that. While I’m sure Senpai would have figure something out, I’m glad to think I was of some use.

 Senpai and I were dragged to a diner, and Jinako tagged along because she thought it looked fun. The diner was very old. Or at least, it seemed really old. It looked like something from an old movie, where boys in gelled hair and leather jackets ask out girls in pretty pink dresses. You might be wondering how I know about that—Senpai and I have been watching movies lately! They wanted to share their favourites with me, especially after they found out I didn’t really watch that many movies before now. Actually, I haven’t read that many books either. Maybe I can ask Senpai for their favourite books too.

 The one we watched recently was filled with dancing, singing teenagers. I spent most of lunch hoping Senpai would ask me dance, but they didn’t understand my hints. I’ll try again next time.

 The diner had a checkered floor and our shoes clicked as we made our way to a booth. There was a really warm atmosphere to the place, cozy-like, and I wanted to curl up with a mug of hot chocolate. Arjuna ordered an ice cream sundae; it came in a long glass and looked like a flower. It was very pretty. And tasty—Arjuna almost gulped it all down. Only when his head hurt did he stop. I think that was his first brain freeze.

 The item on the menu that caught my eye was a chicken and waffle sandwich. They use waffles instead of bread! It was weird; waffles are for breakfast! You have them with syrup! But I was having them with fried chicken and it would have been weird to add syrup to that. Still, it didn’t taste that bad. I think I might try it again.

 Karna wasn’t going to order anything but Senpai forced him too. He always looks so surprised when we worry over him; I’ll have to remind him more often how important he is! As considerate as ever, Karna ended up ordering a platter with chili and sandwiches and shared it with Jinako.

 While we ate, old music played. There was a machine in the diner called a ‘jukebox’. If you put a coin in it, it’ll play a song. It had a limited selection of music and most of the songs were old hits. Apparently, this was how people used to listen to music, before they had cellphones. Senpai said the music was very nostalgic. I didn’t understand how, but I was glad Senpai liked it!

 When the bill came, Arjuna and Karna kept tugging back and forth on it. Both of them insisted that they should be the one to pay, that it was their treat. In the end, Senpai grabbed the bill and said it was their treat now. Karna argued that we shouldn’t waste a dime on someone like him, but that only made Senpai mad. They growled that if Karna every said anything like that again, he was going to help Emiya in the kitchens for a month.

 Considering how much the Artorias eat, I wouldn’t wish that one anyone.

 I’m going to watch another movie with Senpai tonight. I wonder what they’ll pick this time.

 Hokusai must have been very happy today, as we are in Paris! I didn’t see her all day so I think she was out drawing people. Or picking up women. I hope it’s not the latter. Da Vinci told her earlier that if she wanted to paint a beautiful person, then she should just draw her. Hokusai said she didn’t want to draw anyone that old.

 It was a horrific fight. If Hokusai brings back anyone, they’ll be in danger.

 There were so many things to see here! There was the Eiffel Tower--we climbed the stairs since the elevator was so long. Senpai looked exhausted after that and I offered to carry them on my back. Unfortunately, they declined. The view from there was nice, especially as we got higher and higher. Jeanne D’Arc offered to translate for us since all of the tourist information was written in French. She was like a knight in shining armour. I’ll have to study that when we get home.

 After that, we went to the Louvre since it was nearby. Did you know there was a glass pyramid there? It’s a lot smaller than the real ones but it is completely see-through. Inside it there’s an escalator that takes you down to buy tickets and enter the museum. It’s kinda like being in a spy movie, with secret entrances and hidden rooms!

 None of the pharaohs looked impressed by the pyramid. Actually, Nitocris was really excited at first, declaring that Egypt had successfully conquered Paris. Ozymandias stepped in then, crossing his arms and sneering at the pyramid. Apparently it was too small to be considered anything worth while, a terrible imitation of a pyramid. Cleopatra declared it wasn’t cute enough. I didn’t know pyramids could be cute.

 That’s when Marie Antoinette stepped in. Unable to take it anymore, she announced that we were going to see France in all her glory. Starting with brunch, of course. As the queen of the country, it was her duty to show us all of the beauty of Paris, from food to the arts. Or so she said—I don’t think they were really insulting France, but she was so enthusiastic about it that I didn’t want to stop her.

 We ate at a restaurant where we could see the Louvre. There, we got an amazing spread of cheese, croissants, puffed pastries, and other French treats. For just a little while, I could see what it was like to be queen. Did Marie eat this every day, I wonder? What did the pharaohs have? When we go to Egypt, I’ll ask them to take Marie and us out.

 I liked the tarts the best. They were soft, fruity, and with a little hint of sugar sprinkled on top. If only we could have one every day for breakfast. Senpai’s a messy eater, so a light coating of sugar ended up on their nose. Sadly, they wouldn’t let me wipe it off. Nitocris kept playing with the crossiants—she put one on one of her Medjeds, saying that they now had a French hairstyle. The pastry was really flaky (and buttery!), I hope the Medjeds can wash themselves.

 Cleopatra looked the happiest to be there, even happier than Nitocris, which I didn’t think was possible. She kept trying different treats, taking a bite out of everything she saw. If she didn’t like it, she slipped it under the table for a Medjed to take. Senpai said that that was what it was like to have a pet dog. I’ll try that with Fou next time.

 Out of all of them, Ozymandias was the least interested in the food. Despite Marie’s best attempts, he preferred to drink wine instead. At 11 am, I think it was too early to drink (though Shuten probably would be on his side). He kept swirling his glass, looking out the window at the pyramid. In the end, he declared that while the pyramid was still substandard, the wine was not. That there was some value to France, after all.

 Marie didn’t seem to like that at all. I think she wanted him to like the food too. After this, she’s going to take us out to more places like her former palace! If it’s anything like the Louvre, it’ll be huge. My feet are still sore from walking through the giant museum. They had everything in there; I didn’t see even a fraction of all the paintings and sculptures they have. I’m not sure if I can take a second palace that big.

  Road Trip Day: X

 While we spent most of our trip inside proper hotels (Romani says it’s because it’s a vacation and we deserve the best, but sometimes I look at Da Vinci and I’m not sure that’s the real reason), today we went camping. It’s really dark right now and I’m writing this in front of a slowly dying campfire. I feel like I’m a pioneer, only without the quill ink and paper scroll. We’ve been in cities so much and something’s always happening at home, so I kind of forgot what it’s like when it’s quiet. Like it used to be, back when it was just me, Romani, and Da Vinci. There aren’t too many servants awake right now and while I feel like I’m in the middle of a tent city, it also feels like I’m the only person in the world right now.

 It’s kind of hard to describe why. The fire’s crackling softly and I can hear all sorts of wild animals in the distance. Hooting owls, chattering raccoons, the rustle of squirrels running through the trees. If I look up, the stars spread endlessly above me. I could stare at them for hours. They make me feel small.

 I might have spent too much time with Murasaki; I’m starting to sound like a poet!

 Bunyan was very happy that we’re camping. Forests like this one are her home and she wanted to sharpen her blade on some nearby trees. Senpai stopped her, saying that they couldn’t do that in a national park. Romani looked very relieved when she agreed; I think he wanted to stop her too.

 We had breakfast for dinner tonight. It was so strange! Instead of our usual meal, we had pancakes. There was something funny about eating pancakes in the middle of the night, before I sleep instead of when I wake up. This time, since we weren’t near any restaurants, Emiya volunteered to cook our pancakes. He might have missed running the kitchen, though he really should take the time for a break too.

 Abigail was very happy to have pancakes. She and Shuten sat down next to Bunyan, who was making her own pancakes. Apparently Emiya’s pancakes weren’t light and fluffy enough for her. I didn’t think Shuten would be that interested in pancakes, but she eagerly took one of Bunyan’s. Then she poured a bottle of sake on it.

 I have had pancakes before. You’re supposed to use syrup on it, not alcohol! Does it even taste good that way? Well, Shuten thought so at least. She sighed happily with each bite. With her plate (that was more like a bowl), she practically drowned the pancake in alcohol. Abigail watched her the entire time and when she got her second pancake, she asked if she could also have some. Shuten was feeling really generous, so she started to pour it on Abigail’s and Bunyan’s.

 I wonder if Shuten just wanted someone to drink with, especially since we didn’t go to a vineyard? I won’t tell Romani about this. She wanted to give me some sake too, but Senpai happened to be nearby and stopped her before she could. Now I’m curious to know what that tastes like.

 Even without sake, the pancakes were delicious. They were so soft and fluffy, they almost melted on my tongue with the sweet, sugary maple syrup. I ended up getting thirds. After that, we made smores. They’re made by combining chocolate, marshmallows, and crackers. When they’re made right, they just melt into each other. Senpai and Bunyan were good at that. I’m not. I kept burning the marshmallows or they’d melt off my stick and hit the ground. We’re camping for a few more days, hopefully I’ll get it right next time. As kind as ever, Senpai gave me some of their smores.

 It was the sweetest dessert I’ve ever had.

 Oh, I heard a coyote! I think I’ll stop writing here today, I want to spend a little time just sitting here, listening.

  Road Trip Day: X

 After all the food we ate, I want to try to make something for everyone. Nothing big, I’m not good enough at cooking for that yet. It’s just that…well, we went to so many places and tried so many different foods…I guess you can say I’m feeling inspired! Our vacation isn’t over yet, so I can’t cook at Chaladea’s big kitchen, but maybe I can make a tiny meal for Romani, Da Vinci, and Senpai.

 We’re in Singapore. When I told him what I was doing, Astolfo said he wanted to tag along. Apparently he likes to visit different markets and sample food. That way, he can have a little bit of everything. While Astolfo is usually very cheerful, his voice was quieter and sadder when he said that. One of his friends didn’t get to see much of the world, so he wants to experience it for him. Maybe he’s keeping a diary too, filling it up with stories and pictures like I am. I hope one day he can share it with his friend. It’d be nice if they could travel together.

 Sometimes I’ve seen him and Jeanne talking together. They don’t like exactly sad, but they aren’t happy either. Maybe they both miss the same friend. Next time, I’ll ask her to join us—it’d be great if they could make some happy memories too.

 Singapore is a small country, more like a giant city than a country really. It’s so easy to travel here even without Da Vinci’s help—the public transit takes you everywhere. The ground is really clean too, I haven’t seen a place like that since we went to Kyoto. There was a sign on the subway that said we couldn’t take any durians on it. I made sure not to use that.

 The hardest part of today was choosing what market to visit. There are several different cultures here, so there are many unique markets. There’s an Indian market, with the scent of spices wafting through the hair. There’s a Chinese market, filled with brightly coloured stalls and small pop up shops. There’s a Malaysian market and, well, there’s just a lot of places to buy food here! Even when you go to the mall, there were markets in the basement to buy food. We went through one that had narrow corridors and dozens of small shops trying to sell snacks to us. It was hard to walk, not just because of the space, but also because I didn’t know where to look. Luckily, Astolfo was used to this, so he led me from shop to shop, asking for samples. I don’t think I could have done that on my own; I would have felt guilty for not buying anything after.

 It’s impossible to list everything we ate, but I’ll try! There were dumplings: fried, boiled, stuffed with pork, beef, shrimp, covered in sauce or covered in nothing. We had a chili crab, which was a bit hot. There was a famous chicken curry from a small shop that apparently had a Michelin star! It was kind of funny, I was going to a world-famous restaurant but I didn’t have to dress fancy. The line for that one was long. We had Kaya jam on toast—I don’t think I’m fond of it, but it was something different.

 Astolfo actually had a list of signature dishes he wanted us to try. He must have done a lot of research before we left for this trip. I think I might have eaten too much; even now, hours later, I’m full. I don’t need dinner tonight.

 The nice thing was that a lot of food could be eaten while we walked. Astolfo grinned at me when I ate grilled eel, and said it was nice to travel with others for once. He called it a date—I would have dressed up nicer if I’d known! He’s far prettier than me. Everyone kept turning to stare at him when we passed by. I’m sure even Senpai would have looked at him if they were here.

 Emiya had given us a list of things to buy while we were out. Mangos, apples, a selection of crabs—I think he’s going to try to make a dish from Singapore. Some of the items on the list were new to me, I wonder what they taste like. While I expected to see many new sights when we travelled, I didn’t think about all the new sounds, tastes, and smells I’d experience too. This journey has been a lesson in just how vast the world is, and just how much of it I didn’t know anything about. How much I still don’t know now, even after all that we’ve done.

 It’s nice. There’s still so much to do. I don’t think I can ever get bored.

 Anyways, while I can’t eat dinner, this doesn’t mean Senpai, Da Vinci, or Romani will be skipping it! It’s almost dinner time and I need to start cooking. To be honest, it’s kind of intimidating to eat all the delicious food here and then try to make something. Maybe I can ask Emiya for some tips.

Please Read 2.0 Part 4: EUAAAEO

That mess of vowels that served as a title stands for Expelling Unnecessary Accounts And Altering Existing Ones. Because that’s basically what this whole bit of news is about. I was originally going to have it split into multiple parts, but they’re all similar enough that I changed my mind. So, straight to the chase: I find that I have too many social media accounts and I think it’s time to change the ones I will continue to have. Now, I know that it’s a good marketing strategy to have as many social media accounts as possible, but honestly? I’m willing to risk my marketing taking a hit in exchange for maintaining my sanity. And actually? I’ve not gotten rid of as many accounts as you might think (not as many as I want to, that’s for sure). Only 2, Wattpad and Fanfiction.net. Yes, my longer being on Wattpad means I no longer have access to stories posted there. But I never honestly liked using Wattpad, whether for reading or posting, so I really only held onto the account because I felt I had to. Really, I just needed an excuse to delete it. There are some stories there that I am sad that I’ll never get to read again, but *shrugs* that’s something I can live with. As for fanfiction.net, I just don’t feel like risking going against their rules, particularly when it comes to rating. I know that some have gotten away with posting lists or explicit smut and stuff on there, but still. It is a risk, and I’d rather not end up pushing my luck too far and facing the wrath of FF.net’s admins. So, there’s that. Also, no, I didn’t actually delete my FF.net account, because they don’t actually let you delete accounts over there. But I have altered it so I can’t sign in there anymore. On the plus-side, this means the stories over there are still up so you can still read my first 20+ fics over there if you want. Just know that I won’t be able to interact with anyone over there. Next up are some accounts that I’m not deleting, but I will no longer be active on as a creator: DeviantART, YouTube and Facebook. Yes, I’m still very unhappy with DA Eclipse and I would rather use it as little as humanly possible. So, even after my hiatus, I won’t be posting there anymore save for rare exceptions (like if I made a post for/inspired by/in collaboration with my brother, who is still on DA). I also won’t be super-active there in terms of messaging and chatting, partly because I just prefer Tumblr’s PM method now. So, yeah, as sad as I am to mostly-leave my first ever platform, I’ve finally settled on this decision and I’ve made my peace with it. I like to think of it as my “growing up and leaving the nest” kind of thing. Again, not abandoning DA entirely, but it will no longer be my primary and most active social media platform. For YouTube, it’s more that I just don’t want to make AMVs anymore, and, quite honestly, I think a lot of that has to do with Raptor of the Opera. It was just such a long, grueling and so negative experience that it just put me off making AMVs and soured the whole hobby for me. Video-editing is a lot of work and I sincerely applaud those who make it their livelihood! I also know that it can be very fun work, and I will admit that I had lots of fun moments when making AMVs in the past. But it’s not quite enough fun for me in comparison with all of the effort and work that I have to put into it. Add onto that the negative experiences and emotions now associated with AMV-making for me, and I hope you can understand why I’m not doing it anymore. But another reason I don’t plan to make videos anymore (at least for the foreseeable future) is because that’s just not the content I want to focus on. It’s not my most important content or the kind of content I want to be famous for making. I’m a writer. My writing is what I care most about and, when I get back from my hiatus, I want to focus more on writing and making more written content. It won’t be easy, and I admit that I still love drawing and will doubtless continue drawing a lot, but this is what I want to put more time and effort into, and I feel it’s more worth it than any of my videos, whether it’s AMVs, MFMs (dear god, someone please explain to me why those are my most popular videos *epic facepalm*) or Speedpaints. So, yeah, I’ll still be on YouTube a lot (maybe more than I should be, honestly, that site is just so distracting) to comment and like and stuff, and my old videos will still be there. I just won’t be posting any new videos, at least not for a LOOOOONNNG time. BTW: I’ve put all of my old videos into a playlist, and I’m thinking of making said videos Unlisted, so you can only view or find them via the playlist. Maybe. I haven’t quite settled on that decision yet. As for Facebook, I think I’ve made it no secret at this point that I just DO NOT like Facebook! Honestly, if I felt I could get away with it, I would delete my Facebook account entirely. But I still need it for IRL stuff on occasion, so *sigh* better safe than sorry. Someday, though, I’ll be happy to kick that account to the curb. Which leaves the sites I will be remaining very active on: Pinterest, Tumblr and ArchiveOfOurOwn. Pinterest because I really like it and it’s a great place for me to gather images that inspire me or that make me feel better when I’m down (I have an entire section of one of my boards dedicated entirely to Keith Kogane because that boy is my self-care and I’ll be making a similar board for Karna because he is my emotional-support-husbando). Tumblr because, despite being a hellsite, I’ve come to enjoy my own little corner there, because I met my best friends there (and because I like the PM system there, though not as much as Discord), because I can find a surprisingly huge amount of good content there and because, since I’m dropping DA, it’s the next best thing I’ve got to a place where I can post all of my content. And ArchiveOfOurOwn because…actually, do I even need a reason? As long as people are smart enough to tag everything appropriately, it’s pretty fucking fantastic! So, yeah, when my quasi-hiatus is over, I’ll be back to posting frequently on these sites. Until then, I’m afraid I don’t have much else to say about this. I guess I…hope you guys will follow me on Tumblr, Pinterest and Ao3 because that’s where you’ll see me most once I’m fully back? *shrugs* You do you, guys. ive played all the story chapters and a bunch of side missions and tried out a handful of characters so now it’s time for The Official Lance Tainbocuailnge Review Of Fate/Extella Link if you’re like me and were kinda on the fence about buying it after extella massively let you down

tldr; gameplay is actually fun and varied with loads of different objectives and the same servant can be played in different ways so it doesn’t get boring. main story is a bit disjointed and most servants only have a quick cameo but it gets charlemagne’s plot beats down well enough and the silly everyone-knows-everyone banter is delightful. everything looks better, the world actually feels populated, and there’s a lot of care put into special interactions. link will not disappoint you like extella did

the gameplay has much more variation than just press button use moon drive repeat. you’ve got a mix of regular attacks that lead into various combos and active skills with cooldowns. each servant has like 7 of them, generally some combination of damage skills buffs and debuffs, and you can set 4 at once so there’s a degree of customisability to how you play each servant even within the fighting style they’re inherently geared towards. servants with similar regular movesets (like cu and scathach) still have decidedly different active skills so they don’t feel interchangeable. certain moves from servants that were already in extella are generally reused either at the end of some combo or as an active skill which for me goes a long way in still making it feel like the same game, just better

attacking builds moon drive meter, and fighting enemies while moon drive is active earns you np meter. this means you can use your np as often as you can charge it instead of the pathetic One time it was in extella and you can just blow up a whole sector without remorse. you can also end moon drive early with a weaker version of your noble phantasm. some active skills are labelled as class skills and if you use those in a combo against a servant you get the button mash attack that extella had. altogether it really gives the sense of an all-out servant battle

allied servants are much much much more proactive. they’ll actively go out and conquer sectors for you and will try to join you wherever you’re fighting the boss servant. if your allies are nearby more of your active skills will get the class skill property and they’ll join you in the button mash attack. before the battle you also set two support troops, who will randomly join in on your combos or defend you when you’re in a pinch. hakuno is also out on the field, so combat is much more a team effort than before

stage objectives are varied too, there’s field effects, map jamming, hunting down messengers before they can call for reinforcements, escorting allies to specific locations, waves of shadow servants, lancelot disguising himself, robin or lishu going invisible, iskandar or darius with endless armies, drake or gilles bombarding from afar, all often used in various combinations too. on top of that the extra stages will provide random additional challenges so even replaying the same stage will be different every time. 

there are four difficulties (that I’ve unlocked) but I haven’t tried any of the higher ones yet so I don’t know what they change to make it more difficult other than enemy level. there are like. i think at least 50 maybe even 100 extra stages to play after you’ve cleared the ~30 main story battles that continue until servant level 200 or something so there’s a lot to do even after you’ve gone through the story. servants unlock by clearing story battles and I didn’t realize this until very late and was very pissed off that the game wouldn’t let me use cu but that’s on me. the money is power system is still in place so you don’t have to manually train any new servant you want to try out you can just powerlevel them. install skills are also still in place and you do need to level servant bond if you want to use any decent number of those

there’s a pvp mode too but I haven’t tried it yet so no comment on that beyond i bet skilled lancelot players are The most annoying motherfuckers to fight against

graphics are a huge step up from extella. reused areas got a complete visual makeover while retaining the same feel. everyone’s models got spruced up and now they don’t look plastic anymore. there is an unreal amount of care put into sculpting karna’s asscrack. the ost actually slaps beyond the main theme this time as well as featuring some ol reliable CCC tracks. everything looks much more polished

the story is somewhat disjointed because of both the large cast and the splitting routes. the story splits up at various points to create an excuse to make different battles but it means a lot of things happen at approximately the same time in slightly different ways and it can be confusing to keep up with what happens in which order. for that reason I suggest looking closely at what path leads to which ending and playing all the quests of each converging branch before moving to the next day. the story seems to go out of its way to be ambiguous in when what happens exactly and how it’s even supposed to follow the events of extella so I think it’s best to look for the themes and the fun lore details over the linear coherence

overall the atmosphere is pretty silly and servants constantly banter back and forth even during tense situations, but it lands the occasional serious moment well enough imo. charlemagne and karl are the only ones who have any significant story focus but since they’re the only newcomers it’s not like the other guys particularly need the screentime. charlemagne himself is a pretty silly and lighthearted guy so he goes along well with the general feeling and it actually works in favour of his heavier plot beats because of the contrast. I grew attached to him incredibly quickly, not in the last place because he gets hyped about every single person he meets and it’s hard not to get excited too

the servants who weren’t already in extella generally get to show up more in the main story than the already familiar faces but most of them don’t have much more than a cameo. having a lot of people just randomly roam around with no idea what’s going on goes a really long way in making the moon cell feel populated beyond the people directly involved in the story so I actually like it a lot. they came up with like 3 different convenient plot devices to give you servants to fight without worrying about what that means for the alliances and it gives room for a lot of cool character moments

a good chunk of the extra stages come with their own mini stories told through the combat dialogue which adds to the liveliness of the setting. my favourite so far is the one where liz and nero try to hold a concert and hakuno frantically tries to explain to charlemagne in the middle of combat why it’s absolutely vital to keep them from doing that

everyone seems to know everyone so a lot of story dialogue is banter in varying degrees of playful versus vicious between both likely and unlikely combinations of servants and there’s a lot and i mean a LOT of care put into specific interactions. if two servants even remotely have an opinion on each other there’s special dialogue for it, and I even picked up unique dialogue for when archer acts as support troop for cu which no doubt means it exists for other combinations too (altho that’s not subtitled so i dont know what they’re saying there i could just tell it was the usual bickering because of the tone lol). some servants have unique win quotes from hakuno, she calls gilgamesh by his nickname ‘gorgeous’ for example. servants will sit around your home base and have a default line to say but sometimes they have lines that refer to each other instead. compared to how barren extella was, link is overflowing with the sense that these people have lives outside the current conflict and se.ra.ph is a thriving and vibrant world for them to live in
