hi gal I just wanted to randomly ask you who your favourite bands are because I'm also big into punk and I think it's possible we may have some in common! what are your favourite styles and who do you listen to the most?
ive been loving folk punk lately and ive been listening to a lot of days n daze, kimya dawson, and ajj. aside from that i really just like all styles of punk, but some of my favorite bands are fea, stray from the path, bikini kill, nausea, destroy boys, resistant culture, ratas en zelo, jack off jill, and then all the big bands like blink, green day, rage against the machine, etc.
i have a massive playlist of all the punk music and similar i listen to if you’re interested :)

couldn’t listen all the way through | not my thing | it’s okay | kinda catchy | ok i really like this | downloading immediately | already in my library
I don't listen to music like this much anymore but it being in spanish and having an accordion makes it a bit more interesting compared to your usual folk punk shit. So points for originality

S’s Summer Music Recommendations
(all genre listing according to google)
The 1975 - Not for everyone, but the vibes are fun and they have interesting sounds. Their 2016 album is my favorite, their 2013 album a close second. (pop)
The Arctic Monkeys - Upbeat, fun, and occasionally dark, they have commentary on capitalism in their newest album. I recommend their 2018 album, their 2013 album and their 2007 album. (indie rock/post-punk revival)
Austra - She uses interesting sounds and has a lovely voice. Bright, sunny. (electronic/alternative)
Bad Suns - Upbeat, fun. A good alternative to BØRNS, depending who you ask. (alt. rock/indie rock/post-punk)
COIN - Upbeat, fun, they have a very distinctive style that feels very sunny and bright. A bit basic though, not the most thought provoking. (pop)
FUR - I recently started listening to them and highly recommend them. The lead singer’s voice makes me so happy. They have upbeat music, but the lyrics don’t always match. (indie rock)
Glass Animals - They just recently released a new album, and their songs remind me of heat mirage; I listen every summer. (pop)
half•alive - Good music to listen to when you’re in a funk. Fun and easy to dance or sing along to. (indie/pop)
Holy Locust - Summer swamp vibes. I’m a big fan. They only have one album and one EP, but it’s worth it. (folk/punk)
Maps & Atlases - Lightlessness Is Nothing New is my favorite album of theirs. Interesting and usually upbeat instrumentals. I generally tune out the lyrics, but they’re not meaningless. (indie/rock/pop)
Miracle Musical - It’s like getting lost on a cruise ship in some other realm. Not one song is exactly the same. A collaboration between members of different bands, including Tally Hall. (dance/electronic/alternative/???)
Moses Sumney - If you could drown in a voice, this is it. Thought provoking lyrics paired with beautiful voice and instrumental. Aromanticism is my favorite album of his. (progressive rock/r&b/soul)
Mother Mother - O My Heart and The Sticks are my favorite albums of theirs. Very distinctive style and sound, somewhat discordant, but highly enjoyable. (indie rock/alt. rock/ new wave)
Perfume Genius - Not a sound I can easily classify. I’d recommend No Shape. Otherside is a very popular song; you’ve probably heard it before. (indie pop)
The Raconteurs - They’re interesting and span different styles; I’d recommend their newest album, but really any of their music. If you don’t like electric guitar, not the band for you. (alt. rock/garage rock/indie rock)
Ratas en Zelo - I would die for these girls. I love them. Words cannot describe my love for them. There is only one album and it is a shame. There is an accordion. (punk)
The Smiths - They’re older, and are able to pull off several different vibes. I’ve never listened to a full album, only specific songs, but I’ve enjoyed every song I’ve listened to from them. (indie rock/alt. rock/post-punk)
Tally Hall - A slightly less ominous vibe, but not terribly unlike Miracle Musical. You’ve probably heard them in TikTok audios. (alt. rock?/indie pop)
Wallows - They have a really fun and lighthearted sound, but their lyrics aren’t completely meaningless. They’re definitely a feel good band for me, like the familiarity of revisiting an old favorite hobby. (pop/post-punk)
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - A little bit older, technically classified as a rock band. I’d consider them more punk rock, highly enjoyable. Fever To Tell is a must. (garage rock/garage punk/indie rock)
Youth Lagoon - Usually soft and quiet, a good decompression band. Sounds the way water feels. (alternative/indie)
