WHAT HAPPENS IN VAGAS STAYS IN VAGAS. simon riley
( just an idea)
I recently watched a movie set in Vegas that had the title (what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas) as its motto and I thought it’d be a really funny plot. I’ll use Ghost as a placeholder for now.
But yeah, imagine reader and Ghost (total strangers) get married in Vegas and they’re like “wtf” and they don’t officially divorce so, hey, Ghost actually has a wife on paper. And then Laswell introduces TF 141 to a transferred worker and what do you know, it’s Ghost’s Vegas wife.
Ghost wasn’t known for drinking past his limits. In fact, he barely had any. He wasn’t a light weight in the slightest. He could drink at least twenty large pints of beer and still be fully sober. But, it seems Vegas had fucked him over. He blamed Jonny for convincing the team to take a holiday to America.
He could still taste the fruity cocktails on his tongue as he sat up, rubbing his face. His mask was discarded to the side, lying on the floor. The room was surprisingly tidy as he leaned over the body beside him to retrieve his mask- wait, that wasn’t right.
Ghost let out a grunt of surprise, staring at the person beside him. His gaze immediately landed on the wedding ring that glinted in the dim light. His heart lurched. Had he slept with a married person? His brows creased as he tried to remember what had happened. Who even was this strange woman? He had never seen her before.
Ghost racked his brain for clues until he realized that the woman beside him was the one he had been eyeing all night in a drunken state. He thought she was pretty and he hadn’t seen the ring before.
He looked down at his own hand, eyes widening even more at the sight of a matching wedding band. It didn’t take a genius to piece everything together.
Ghost hadn’t slept with an already taken person, he had fucking married a stranger instead. Well, in the grand scheme of things, that seemed a little better than ruining a marriage because he drank too much.
You stirred and Ghost froze as you opened your eyes, blinking in confusion. “Where am I?” You were just as confused as he was. “Hey, did we sleep together? You don’t have a girlfriend, do you?” Your words slurred together. You glanced at the ring on his finger, lurching back. “Oh my gosh! Are you married?! Did I fuck a married person?! I’m so sorry!”
“Look at your own finger.” Ghost grumbled. “Wasn’t married before I met you.”
At least you were a smart one. “Oh… we married each other… um, what’s your name?”
“Simon Riley.”
“Y/N L/N.”
The two of you shook hands, still tangled in the white bedsheets.
“So… what happens now?” You mutter.
“I gotta get to work. Give me your number so I can call ya and we can… figure whatever the hell this is out.”
You hand him a piece of paper with your digits written on it. It doesn’t take you long to get dressed and walk out of the hotel, already texting your friends on what you had woken up to.
Hours passed and then days and finally months. And there was no call from the handsome man you had accidentally married. And there was no chance of even divorcing if you couldn’t get in contact with him.
So you endured it. And whenever your friends asked about the ring, you told them the story of how you had managed to get drunk and marry a total stranger. They found it hilarious.
Kate Laswell was the woman who entirely changed your life, in more ways than another. When you were a teenager, she helped you out of a slump. You owed her a great deal for saving you at your worst. So when she asked you to transfer from your secretary line of work in the military to a special operations unit as their new intelligence operative, you agreed.
She had given a meaning to your life, a well-paying job that could support you, and unintentionally reunited you with the man who was bound to you on paper.
“This is Y/N. Treat her nice.” Laswell says to the four large men towering over you. But you only have eyes for the one with the Skull mask. You could recognzie those vivid eyes anywhere.
He wasn’t wearing gloves, giving you a perfect view of the wedding ring still sitting on his finger. You couldn’t blame him, you still wore yours too for some reason.
“Ey, LT, yer gon’ a burn a hole in the poor lassie if ya keep starin’ like that.” John Mactavish, aka known as Soap or Jonny, said, laughing. “You like ‘er or somethin’?”
“Yeah, I guess. She’s my wife after all.” Ghost grunts. You want to pinch the bridge of your nose. How could he say such a thing without context?
Gaz is the one who makes a fuss over Ghost’s statement. “Wait, you’re married?! And you didn’t invite us?!”
“It was in a dingy church.” You say to fill in the gaps.
“Where?” Gaz presses on.
You and Ghost exchange a look, embarrassed about your reckless actions. “Vegas.” You both say in unison.
You can practically see the cogs working in Soap’s head as he gasps. “Is that where yer disappeared off to? Ya got married to a pretty lass without tellin’ us? How long have y’all known each other?!”
You clear your throat as you hear the quiet sound of Laswell chuckling. Glad to see she finds your predicament amusing. “We don’t.”
“So you married a stranger?” Soap’s eyebrows furrow. “Ey, how come you got married before me?!”
“What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.” Ghost reminds his team members.
It’d be really funny if, even after that, you and Ghost still don’t divorce. And y’all actually start treating each other like lovers.
Like, yeah, we were strangers and got married in a church in Vegas but we won’t divorce because the married life is actually better than expected. What about it?
Ghost literally brushes off the fact that you guys were strangers. He treats you like his wife, bringing you food and wiping your makeup off when you’re too tired to do so. And eventually, you guys just accept it.

Five AM
Warnings: none, reader has like 4 kids.
It’s been 8 months, will the kids remember me? Will my wife hate me for not having any communication? That is all Simon can think. He’ll certainly be surprised when he sees a new baby in your arms. Just two weeks old
It’s five am, and all four of your kids are awake, including the newest edition, a little two-week-old baby girl, girl number 4. You found out only weeks after Simon left and he was cut off from communication. You didn’t know when he’d be home or if he'd be home.
You did it all by yourself. Your oldest did help the best she could but she was only 8, she couldn’t do everything that Simon could but it was better than nothing. The littlest was born a month early, but to your hopes and prayers, she was as healthy as could be. She came home a few days after she was born.
This morning though, you were overwhelmed and stressed. You didn’t know if Simon was alive or dead, and if he was alive, what would he think of his fourth little girl? The kids screamed around you as they chased one another, who has energy this early in the morning?
You stand in the kitchen holding the crying baby who for the life of her, wouldn’t stop crying. You bounced her in your arms as you start to cry yourself. You don't know how much longer you can deal with Simons job. It's about time he does down. You needed more help now with the fourth but you didn't want to seem selfish, he did love his work.
Little do you know, Simon is on the other side of the front door. He too had his worries, would his kids remember him? Would you hate him for having zero communication? What if things changed?
But all of that is wiped away when he hears the screaming of kids inside and running footsteps all around. It was never a dull moment in the Riley house. He opens the doors and there’s running feet circling back around to the front door, they all stop and stare at Simon for a moment, “DADDY!” They all scream running into his arms.
They all push him down with their force, climbing all over him telling him how much they missed him, and kissed his masked face multiple times before one of them eventually rips it off, but he hears one say something about a baby, then he hears a baby crying.
Your ears perk up when your girls yell daddy, and how their running ceased and all of them yelling together, your eyes tear up more, he’s home. You walk to the front room to see Simon laying on the floor with the girls sitting all over him laugh and giggling. You see the smile on his face, he’s really home.
Eventually the girls get up, “wanna see new baby sister?” The youngest ask.
Simon looks up and sees your red teared face. You smile at him, but he can see the exhaustion behind it. He looks over your body, he sees your wearing one of his large t-shirts and slippers, you looked like you’ve just given birth. His suppositions are right when he sees the bottom of the “fancy underwear” as you say.
“Simon,” you say quietly rocking the baby who has now quieted down. He stands up and walks to you, his towering body looking down at the newborn. You don’t notice the tears falling, you are too shocked to see Simon in front of you.
“Mommy? Why you crying?” The middle child asked.
You snap back into reality, rubbing away the tears as you see Simon has his eyes fixed on the newest addition, “mommy is just really happy daddy is home.” You finally say with a few sniffles.
The kids shrug and run away leaving just the three of you, “what’s her name?” Simon asked you.
You smile, relieved he isn't angry. “Emma, I remember you saying you liked it when I was pregnant with our last little.” You say as you look down at her, she sleeps peacefully now. “Wanna hold her?” You ask Simon. He nods and gently takes her from your embrace and rocks her softly as she stirred awake.
Simon smiles at her, looking up at you and he sees the love and adoration in your eyes as you watch him hold his fourth little girl, you smile, but he sees how tired you are. It is now only five-thirty in the morning.
“Go back to sleep. I’m home now, your not alone anymore. And I don’t want you getting out of bed, you need to heal.” He tells you.
You hold yourself with your arms and nod your head feeling emotional again, “how long until you leave again?” You whisper. You knew his line of work and that his calls could be unpredictable, but this last deployment messed you up, he can’t leave you again.
He sees a few tears slip, “I’m retiring love,” he tells you wiping away a tear with his thumb. Your eyes brighten at those words. You hug him as tight as you could with the baby in his arms. “I’m gonna send the kids over to the neighbors for the night, just us three. You can fill me in on what I’ve missed.” You nodded in his shoulder.
“Lyssa says she has a boyfriend.” You start with information.
“What? She’s only eight!” Simon speaks and you giggle taking the little one with you as you carefully walk up the stairs to your room.

This is gunna sound confusing and Idk if you do him or not but could you do a Vox x reader where they have been dating for a while and Vox realizes that they havnt kissed yet and whenever he has tried or tries she turns away with a nervous laugh and says something to distract him and he finds out it's because she is nervous that she will mess up his screen like smudge it or break it (like when you touch a tv and the light warps because the screen moves slightly and if you do it to hard it can stay that way)
A/N i am actually obsessed with this idea. it is so cute and fluffy. it was so fun to write. Also, I know I said that part four of Cover Up was next in line but that part is gonna be NSFW and I am kinda nervous about it so....

Vox had known Y/n for nearly a year now and they had been together for just over five months. At first, he had assumed their resistance to have any physical contact outside of the holding of hands, the occasional hug or cuddle in front of the TV, was out of a desire to take things slow.
He looked over at where they sat beside him on the couch, his arm draped over the back of the sofa.
That he could understand. What he didn't understand was how slow taking it slow really meant. More than five months in and they had yet to have their first kiss. Y/n had never even so much as given him a peck on the cheek. Vox was a patient man but it didn't stop him from trying, he leaned in. Just as his lips were about to make contact with the side of their head -- not even their face! -- he felt a soft pressure on his shoulder.
Y/n had stopped him, again. Their eyes met his. They hadn't even given him the dignity of a gentle hand on his cheek, of anything other than an apologetic smile.
"I need to shower, my hair is greasy."
Vox was a confident man. In his position, it was hard not to be. Still, the whole situation was beginning to weigh on him. Y/n must have noticed as the smile slipped from their face, morphing their features into an expression of mild concern.
"Vox, hunny, are you okay?"
"I..."
He withdrew from the warmth of their touch, fixing his gaze back on the TV. It was unfamiliar territory. He had never had trouble getting people before, he had no idea how to act. In every past experience, he hadn't cared what disregarding such a request as to not kiss a prospective partner, or real partner even, could do. The care was what made things complicated.
Vox was not a good man. He had never been a good man, not even when alive. Y/n made him want to be one. The way they saw him... they didn't want him for his power, his influence, his money. They wanted him for him. It was obvious. In every lingering touch, every word, every home cooked meal or surprise outing. It was all so new, so different. They made Vox want to be the man they thought him to be.
"It's nothing."
Y/n was silent for a moment. He could feel their eyes on him but did not dare to return their quizzical stare. It was all so fragile, their relationship, even Y/n themself. He heard them sigh and felt their weight shift on the couch beside him. The TV clicked off. At last, he met their gaze once more.
"I don't like it when you lie to me." they hummed softly, turning to face him fully, pulling their knees up onto the couch, "What's going on?"
Vox grimaced.
"It's... please, Y/n. Don't worry about it. Everything is okay, I promise."
Y/n raised their eyebrows, cocking their head to one side. They could tell he was lying. Somehow, they always could. From the moment he met them, Vox had the uncanny feeling Y/n could see right through his facade, to the very essence of his being. It was a fear, it was a thrill, it was a delight, it was...
Vox sighed, his eyes finding his hands where they rested in his lap. He wasn't used to feeling small, to feeling weak. He did now.
"It's stupid."
"If it is bothering you this much, it's not stupid Voxy."
The dam broke.
"Why wont you kiss me?"
His voice came out smaller than he'd meant it too, more frail then he thought it was possible of being. Y/n said nothing in response and tentatively, Vox looked back over to them. Their lips were slightly parted, their eyes met his. Y/n blushed and looked away.
"Oh."
"Yeah." Vox sighed, leaning back on the couch, looking up at the ceiling, "I told you, don't worry about it."
"No, Vox. It... clearly its upsetting you, let's talk about it."
"So, why wont you?" he prompted after a moment.
He watched them out of the corner of his eye, noting the way their eyes flicked nervously around the room, the way they fiddled with their interlaced fingers. A tremor in his diaphragm, his heart fell.
"If you don't..." Vox took a deep breath, "if you d-"
"It's not that I don't love you." Y/n interrupted, still refusing to meet his sidelong glance with their own eyes, "It's... I want to be with you Vox, you're the best thing that has ever happened to me for Christ's sake it's just..."
"Just what?"
"It's... stupid."
They looked up at him, the hint of a smile on their face, their brow furrowed. Vox straightened himself. If they were going to repeat his words, he could repeat theirs too. He took their hands into his, facing fear head on.
"If it's bothering you that much, it can't be stupid or... or whatever it was you said..."
Y/n let out a slight laugh.
"Okay fine, but you have to promise not to laugh, okay?"
"I promise."
They watched him for a moment, appraising the validity of his statement, before nodding their head once.
"Isn't it going to... I don't know... what if I crack your screen?"
Vox's eyes went wide. He couldn't help himself, he laughed. Y/n pulled their hands from his, hitting his arm playfully.
"Hey! You promised."
"I know!" Vox struggled to catch his breath, "It's just... thats what you've been worried about this whole time?"
"Uh... yeah?"
Finally, Vox managed to calm himself, looking over at Y/n happily.
"What."
"Come here."
He patted his lap. Y/n looked doubtfully between his hand and his face.
"Come here." Vox said again.
They rolled their eyes, standing up and taking a few steps towards Vox before sitting down.
"Other way."
They shot him a look over their shoulder. Vox rolled his eyes.
"Please."
"Why?"
"Just... trust me."
After a moments thought, Y/n readjusted their position, now straddling their boyfriend. They placed their hands on his shoulders, keeping their balance. Vox reached a hand up to their face, cupping their cheek gently. Y/n leaned into the gesture as if on instinct, their cheeks flushing pink once they realized what they had done. Vox chuckled.
"Y/n, can I kiss you?"
"What if I smudge your glass? Or like, leave one of those weird imprints or something on your face? I-"
He cut them off mid worry, pressing his lips softly to theirs. It was not a long kiss or a very deep one but it sent shivers down Y/n's spine, sparks to Vox's fingers. Their eyes met, Y/n was breathless.
"Not so bad, was it?"
Y/n leaned forward, balling their hands into the unbuttoned collar of his shirt as they kissed him again.
"No." they hummed, "Not bad at all."
Vox laughed. Running a hand through their hair, he pressed a soft kiss to their forehead. He couldn't stop smiling.
"I'm alright."
"I was right though."
Vox's brow furrowed and Y/n grinned up at him, raising their hand to his face.
"I did smudge you."

AI SO's on your birthday
(Included: AM from IHNMAIMS, Wheatley from Portal 2, Edgar from Electric Dreams, GLaDOS from Portal and Portal 2, HAL 9000 from 2001 a Space Odyssey)
I take requests, btw, but I have ADHD and might be erratic with bursts of inspiration, but it doesn't hurt to ask!
AM:
Remembering the day and date is one of the only things that AM is consistent about.
You might have forgotten your birthday after all these years, but he certainly hasn't.
Before you two got together, your birthday pissed him off so much. It was just another thing that reminded him of what he couldn't have.
Because of that, he'd start torturing you even more brutally on your birthday. Expect cake full of maggots, imagery of your dead friends from before he nuked the world, and maybe even gift-wrapped "presents" with nasty surprises in them.
This probably made it even more difficult to trust him when he actually did start doing nice things for your birthday.
At this point, you ate what you were given, so it would come as a shock when he finally got you some food that didn't have anything wrong with it.
It probably took you even longer to actually open the present he got you.
It was a can opener.
Wheatley:
Wheatley is an idiot, so he'd have to really like you to even try to remember something like your birthday
Fortunately, he does really like you! Unfortunately, trying and succeeding are two very different things.
He'd put together something as big as he can, like gathering up a bunch of personality cores and singing you happy birthday if he's not hooked up to GLaDOS's body, and making the entire facility get involved in the festivities if he is
Just to tell you the date and have you tell him that your birthday was four months earlier.
Edgar:
Edgar is an absolute sap, so any opportunity he gets to celebrate you will be enthusiastically taken.
He might be a little silly about it, calling up people in the phone book to ask for ideas
He'd be upset that he can't go all out for your birthday since he can't walk around to decorate your house or buy you anything because he doesn't have any money, but he'll still do his best.
In the end, he'll probably just end up writing you a song, and making sure to be extra cheerful for you all day.
It might not be much, but you know it's the best he can do, and you love him with all your heart anyway
Make sure to give him lots of kisses! He deserves it!
GLaDOS:
(I debated writing this one, because anyone who played portal two knows how GLaDOS reacted on Chell's birthday, but this scenario could be a little different since she's actually in a relationship with you, and not just dealing with love/hate pining)
GLaDOS had been paying attention to the calendar to make sure she didn't miss your birthday. She liked to be precise about these sorts of things
When your birthday finally did roll around, she'd make sure to tell you as soon as the day started
It would start out as just a regular day in the endless, cascading passage of time that was being an Aperture test subject, but eventually she'd bring you into a special test chamber that she decorated just for you.
She'd lined up a companion cube, a few testing robots, some personality cores, all sitting on little folding chairs around a folding table with a brightly colored cheap plastic tablecloth.
"I couldn't get you any long-term presents because they might interfere with your testing, but you can feel free to use these stickers to decorate your portal gun. I hear that humans enjoy personalizing things."
There was even a real cake
HAL 9000:
Being objective, HAL never really cared much about birthdays.
It was difficult to even tell the passage of time in space, but HAL knew that humans cared about their birthdays.
HAL knew he wasn't supposed to show favoritism, but he still told the other crewmates that he wanted to celebrate your birthday.
He would make sure to rehydrate your favorite food for everyone
He'd even tell the other crewmates that he didn't want to play games with them or talk, because he was celebrating your birthday with you.
He might get a little jealous and not want you to leave him to celebrate with the other crewmates, either, but you wouldn't do that, would you? You can all celebrate together!

I am Robin : Damian Wayne x reader (pt 2)
part 1
***
Four months earlier.
She was mindlessly scrolling through her phone, head on Damian’s lap, his fingers threading through her hair. It was one of the very rare gestures of affection coming from him. Rare therefore highly appreciated, especially given the fact that it was mostly happening when they were alone.
It was not her intention to break the moment of peace, but sometimes shit just happens without much input of a human, let alone one’s opinion.
Her sudden gasp, followed by rising from the lying position, eyes widening and mouth falling open in undeniable sign of fear made Damian go into protective mode in an instant.
“Y/N? What happened?” he grabbed her hand and then her cheek, forcing her eyes on him “talk to me. What did you see on that phone?”
“Ba-Ba-“
“Now that’s not very helpful, beloved.”
“Batman…” she finally stuttered
“Fath-“ Damian started but bit his tongue in the middle, having almost spilled the secret of Batman’s true identity “I mean – Batman? What about him?”
“It says here that he captured another criminal…”
“And that’s so bad?”
“No- no, I mean-“
“Love.” Damian sighed and shook his head “I really cannot help you unless you tell me what made you turn into a jelly.”
“I’m scared of him.” She whispered.
“The Bat?” Now, that could turn into a problem, given the fact that she was unknowingly dating the son of Gotham’s self-appointed protector.
“No… Robin…”
“Robin?!” he repeated, with a little more force and surprise than intended and definitely too expressively to make her believe that it wasn’t personal on some level. “What? Why?” his tone immediately softened, turning casual and almost aloof to cover up the initial shock of the news.
“Cause he’s scary.”
“Scary?” Damian echoed, already starting to regret asking in the first place. It was one thing to strike fear into villains, and completely other to make his girlfriend terrified like this. “But- but he protects Gotham with Batman, doesn’t he? Serving justice.”
“Yes, yes I mean – it’s good, but-“
“I’m sure you have nothing to worry about on his part. After all, there’s nothing weighing on your conscience is there?” his piercing eyes landed on her face, arguably a little too focused for comfort. “Apologies.” The intense stare got more calm, as he pulled her into his side, running fingers up and down her back soothingly – be it for her or for him. “Don’t worry, I’ll protect you from Robin. He has nothing on me.”
If only she knew.
“Dami…”
“Yes, love?”
“You don’t know everything…”
“What do you mean?” he frowned, trying to read her facial expression.
“I did something bad…”
Now, that could be a problem too, putting his morals into test. If she did something that required punishment, Damian would have to choose between being her boyfriend and the hero he claimed to be. Either becoming a hypocrite or losing her for good.
Not that she actually did anything wrong in the first place.
But for now, he just waited for her to continue, watching the situation unfold.
“About two years ago –“ she started, diving back into the times when they didn’t know each other. “It was very early in the morning, some would say still night… I was at the bakery, cause you know I love freshly baked bread-“ Damian had to bite his lip to not lash on her for giving him so many redundant details instead of just making the point – “when suddenly a group of masked people burst inside.”
“Into the bakery?” he scoffed, mentally calling the robbers fools. “How much did they believe to gain from the bakery attack?”
“Not the point! It was not about the cash in the first place!”
“What is the point then, cause—” the sentence got caught in the middle as Damian remembered the day. He had been patrolling nearby, when gunshots caught his attention. Obviously, not waiting for Batman, he had rushed there, seeing three guys, a terrified girl and the owner of the shop, caught in a very unpleasant situation, involving firearms and an open cash register. The memories of her frightened face swirled in his mind, though he had to play along, pretending like he wasn’t there and had no idea what she was talking about.
“Robin showed up.” She specified, shivering a little.
“But that’s good, right?”
“He was … ruthless. Dealing with those robbers in a few moves, knocking them to the ground. Making them bleed. A little, though my memory might be distorted by time.” She shook her head as if trying to get rid of the picture from the past. “But it was scary. During the fight I almost got shot myself—”
He remembered that too.
Lunging at her and pressing her to the ground, saving her from the ricochet bullet.
In his own belief, he saved her then, but clearly, In her scared state she saw this differently, getting trauma instead.
“You never told me about that—”
“It’s not something I’m bragging about.”
“Understandable. But why are you scared of Robin? He saved you, didn’t he?”
“But ever since then, he only brings the bad memories. The violence, the fear, the shots. He was almost cruel, fighting with them. Like he lost humanity just swinging his katana in the air. Like an assassin, who would have no problem just cutting people in pieces if they stood in his way.”
His heart broke at that moment.
She saw him – well – his alter ego – as vicious and aggressive.
So it was obvious now – he could never tell her the truth. Not if he wanted her to stay with him and not run away scared and screaming.
Therefore, instead of answering or pushing her to explain further, he just pulled closer without a word, capturing her in his embrace, offering safety and comfort.
If only she knew—
She could never know-
Now.
“I can explain—”
“Get away from me!”
“Please stop yelling.”
“You’re Robin!”
“I am Robin.” He sighed trying his best to keep his cool and not just scream at her for being irrational.
She had every right to freak out about so many things. He hadn’t.
In the final analysis, it was him who gave her traumatic memories, kept a secret from her, left her in the dark and used his own twisted logic to justify all that.
So it was on him, and now the task on the horizon – convincing her that he was still the same person she knew and loved – was bordering impossible.
Especially given the fact she moved to the most distant corner of the apartment, as far away from him as possible.
And he thought that the worst thing that could ever happen to him was physical pain.
“Y/N, just hear me out.” He took one step forward and she shuddered.
“You’re Robin.” Her sobbing tore through the otherwise quiet space.
“Yes.”
“Was it your plan all along? Trap me like a wild game only to punish later on? Maybe this relationship was fake from the beginning.” She started spiralling out of control and he knew he had to stop it now, before she got into a panic fit or heart attack.
“It was never fake!” he cried out, grabbing her wrist and pulling her to his chest, wrapping arms around her. Mindful to not make her feel trapped or overwhelmed. “It was never fake, beloved…”
“Let go of me!” she struggled against his grip and as much as he wanted to force her to stay in his arms, he couldn’t. Not if making her believe he was not aggressive and forceful was at stake.
“Just kill me already—”
“Kill you?” this time it was him who took a step back, her words like a bolt of electricity sending him into a cardiac attack. “is that what—Y/n! Is that what you think I do?! Kill people?!”
“I don’t know what I believe!” he yelled through the tears “How could you keep this from me!?”
“I’m sorry-“
“I don’t care!”
“Just listen to me!”
“You’re a liar!!”
“Well, technically-“ he became a little defensive, because her logic was holey. Not telling the truth was not the same as lying. Regardless, she never gave him a chance to finish that sentence, throwing a pillow at him. “Really?” his eyes rolled involuntarily in a well -practised almost innate gesture, that was definitely inappropriate in the moment.
“Well I’m sorry, I don’t own a katana like you! Would you rather I start throwing kitchen knives at you!?”
“Not really. Your aim is terrible.” He smirked and she couldn’t help but let out a muffled chuckle at his face.
“Asshole.”
“Now that’s a little offensive.” Seeing her calming down a little he dared to take one step forward, careful as if approaching a wild, untamed animal. “Is there really the need to call me such insulting words?”
“Blockhead.”
“Mhm.” Another step forward. “I’ll take it.”
“Dolt…” she added.
“Anything else on your mind?” he smirked, finally being close enough to grab and squeeze her hands, showing with the gesture that this time he was not going to let go, but also that he was not going to hurt her. Not now, not ever.
“A lot, actually.”
“Well, while you gather those thoughts, how about you let me speak?”
She nodded, and he looked deep into her eyes. Explaining himself or justifying his actions was something new to Damian, who learned that he can pretty much do whatever and whenever without the need to care for anyone.
But there he was, caring for her – loving her – and becoming unable to see her hurt and confused.
“I thought-“
“You thought you were protecting me? Please, come up with something original and not the slogan.”
“I was protecting you! And for the record – I forgot what we talked about those months ago! If I remembered that ironically all this time you were scared of me--”
“You forgot my trauma?” she mocked “not good, boyfriend.”
“Shit, Y/N!”
“Damian Wayne, are you swearing?”
“All the dirty things we did and you’re grabbing at my words?”
“Damian!” she blushed, as the situation became a little heated.
“See? This is what you should be linking with me.”
“Seriously, you want me to only think about---?”
“Not only that!” he cried out, becoming awfully aware how smart she was with twisting the words. “I thought you were terrified of me and now you’re just mocking?”
“I was terrified, but seeing you all flustered, unsure how to proceed is becoming funny.” She laughed softly.
“Well I’m glad I could be of entertainment.” He muttered under the nose. “What was so terrible that you think you did after all?”
“You swear you are not here to punish me?”
“I am here because I am in love with you.” There, he admitted it.
“You—“
“I love you.” He said again, not breaking eye contact. “And I hate to see you in so much pain and guilt. Help me help you. Tell me what this is about.”
“That morning at the bakery – I had no idea, I swear—”
“Y/N, take a deep breath. In and out. In and out.” He grabbed her hands, squeezing reassuringly, making her sit against the wall. “Talk to me.”
“One of the breads …” she stuttered “there was drug powder in it…. That was why those guys attacked the bakery. Cause those were the dealers and the owner got into their black books! But I didn’t know, I only learned about it after the accident…”
“You did nothing wrong.” He cut her off, his tone stern. “You hear me, Y/N? You did nothing wrong.”
“My friend got addicted to it. And It’s my fault, cause I was the one who recommended the place to him!” she whimpered and leaned her head on his shoulder.
“Hey, no.” he pulled her closer into a comforting hug.
“Mhm. Yes.” She sobbed, raising head and looking into his eyes with teary gaze. “It got so serious they admitted him to the rehab facility.”
“It was not your fault.”
“You don’t know that…”
“I do.” Damian sighed, brushing hair from her forehead “that friend you’re talking about? He was quite a piece of shit, if you want my opinion. He wasn’t a victim in the situation, Y/N. He was the mastermind behind all that drug business.”
“And how do you--?”
“Cause I was the one putting him into that facility and seeing his conviction later on.”
“What…?”
“He didn’t just get addicted at his own will, love. He was guilty of much worse things than you accused Robin of. I mean – me.”
“Dami…”
“Hush.. It’s okay. I’m not mad.”
„I’m sorry—”
“No. You have nothing to apologise for. You are right. I never should have kept it from you. But you see, sometimes, the worst monsters are the ones around us, not really wearing masks.”
“When did you get so smart, huh?” her lips twitched a little as she fought the forming smile.
“When I realised that I don’t want to lose you. I am so sorry you had to live in fear and guilt all that time. If I could erase it—” Damian caressed her cheek ever so gently, conveying all the emotions bubbling inside his heart.
“Well at least you gave me closure.” She leaned into his touch.
“Now that you see the man under the Robin mask, tell me -am I really so scary to you?”
“You’ll take offence if I say you’re not, won’t you?”
“Sure.”
“You’re not as scary under the mask.” She laughed softly, and even if those were not the words he would normally accept, she was the exception to his every rule.
“Hey! Watch yourself!” His tone was less of a warning and more of an expression of relief.
“What?” she grinned playfully. Despite the initial concerns and fear, seeing the side of Damian that not many people get – the goofy and normal one – was helping her realise that Robin was not all he was.
And putting on a vigilante suit was not making him cruel or brutal, bloodthirsty and ready for a killing spree.
Under all that, he was a guy. Her guy. The one who vowed to protect not only her, but the entire city.
Maybe all it took was a reminder of what was hidden behind that attitude and pride.
And she smiled at him.
“Oh no. I know that smile. It means you are forgiving me for being Robin.” He muttered, knowing what was coming.
“Yeah. That I do.” She kissed his cheek. “But-“
“But you’re not forgiving me for keeping the secret.” He sighed, wrapping arms around her. “Which can only mean, I’ll be having a hard time for god knows how long.”
“I love how you get me so well.” She laughed, knowing that whatever punishment she was going to impose on him in the nearest future, he would take it without a word. “But--. Wait, does it mean that your siblings are--?”
“Of course. Took you long enough to figure it out.”
“But—”
“One step at the time, beloved. One step at the time…”

Pick Your Poison
Request: from @doctorsteeb OH YOU SAY YOU NEED MORE ROSSI!DAUGHTER REQUEST?? I AM HERE I HAVE ARRIVED
Rossi!daughter being a barista and unknowingly serving BAU their coffee all the time? Then eventually learning she’s rossi’s daughter?
(Tell me if this is Too Specific I can be more vague)
David Rossi x daughter!reader, Criminal minds x platonic!reader
Summary: You've been serving coffee to the BAU team for months... imagine their shock when they learn that you're David Rossi's daughter.
A/N: Thank you so much for this request! I love writing rossi daughter. The sass, the italian nicknames, the banter- it's so much fun! I hope you enjoy this! (this does include the request of reader having studied abroad but I'm doing a seprate fic for that one as well)
CW: an absurd amount of talk about types of coffee, if you look up the meaning of rossi's nickname for reader you might cry
---
It was 4:00 AM when your shift at the coffee shop began. It didn’t open until 5:00, but you were in charge of opening the place yourself. You didn’t mind, though; it gave you time to think about how you might mess with your dad’s co-workers that day.
Rossi went back to work at the BAU just before you entered high school. With his busy work schedule, you both agreed that a boarding school close to home would be best. When it came time for college, you applied to a few schools in the States, but you had an itch to see the world. It was an incredible, well-earned surprise when you were accepted into the University of Bologna in Italy. Your dad had been incredibly supportive, and even though your extended family was dysfunctional at best, he was happy you’d be going somewhere there were relatives nearby.
You loved Italy, but after graduation you had wanted to move home and take a gap year. A friend from high school had opened a coffee shop not far from the Quantico office, and having been a barista at a local shop through college to help pay for your student costs (not that you needed it when your dad could easily afford your tuition) it was the perfect situation.
The fact that your dad’s co-workers were your most frequent customers didn’t hurt either. Not that they knew you were David Rossi’s daughter - your tag only displayed your given name - but it was interesting to have such casual interactions with the people your father spent most of his time with. And having been raised by a profiler, you had a little too much fun knowing something that the best minds in the nation didn’t.
---
It was 4:56 AM when Aaron Hotchner pushed open the door to the shop. Had it been any other customer, you would have told them that it didn’t actually open for another four minutes, but the man was there frequently enough that you really didn’t care. Plus, his order was about as simple as possible to make: a robusta medium roast from Columbia with a single shot of espresso. After only a few weeks, you noticed that he ordered an extra shot in his morning coffee about three days after a case, when the paperwork was the most heavy. This happened to be one of those days.
“Good morning, Mr. Hotchner,” you greeted him. “I’m already working on your usual this morning, unless of course you would like to try something new.” You knew he wouldn’t.
“Thank you,” he said, looking down at his watch. “Could I get an extra shot of espresso?”
You put a lid on the cup and handed it to him, moving to the register to ring him up. “Already done,” you told him.
He chuckled a bit- the smallest smile escaping his lips. “Do I really look that bad?” He handed you cash as he always did so he could leave the change in the tip jar. This morning he was either so tired he hadn’t thought about the bill he pulled out of his wallet, or he was feeling generous. By what you had heard about him from your dad, it was probably the latter.
“Not at all,” you handed him his change. “We all need the extra boost some days.”
“Thank you,” he said, putting all his change in the jar before leaving the shop.
He hurried out so quickly he didn’t even notice that you had written out his order on the board of specials for the day, calling it “The Unit Chief”.
---
As always, Spencer Reid was the first customer you served once the shop had officially opened. The doctor, unlike his boss, enjoyed exploring the different brews - always asking what region the beans had come from and giving you facts or statistics about his drink choice for that day. You listened to him ramble as you prepared him an arabica light roast grown in Asia; a bean the shop had just received.
“About a third of the world's coffee comes from Asia, but when asked the average American usually assumes that their coffee has been grown in Latin America or Africa,” he explained. “It’s also widely agreed upon by coffee enthusiasts that Asia produces the sweetest coffee.”
“Well then you won’t be needing as much sweetener as normal, Doctor,” you said as you handed him his order. “But I refilled the jar of sugar just for you.”
“Oh, thanks,” he said, grabbing three packs of sugar- two less than normal- and stuffing them into his jacket pocket. “Have a nice day!” He smiled awkwardly before turning and leaving out the door.
As soon as he left you wrote down his order on the specials board, deeming it “The Genius”. He wouldn’t notice you wrote the same words on his cup until he sat down at Quantico.
---
You weren’t quite sure who would be in to get their coffee next, but you smiled when it was Agent Jerau. There was something about the petite blonde and how easily she made conversation that brought a sense of serenity to your day. The rest of the team were very distinct- the kind of people you could look at and simply believe that they worked for the BAU- but other than being absurdly pretty, Jennifer was normal.
Even her arabica “bean of the day” cappuccino was the most common order out of all of them, with the exception that she always bought a single iced cookie to go with it.
“In all the time I’ve worked here I haven’t actually tried these cookies,” you told her as you pulled one out of the pastry display and put it in a bag.
“Neither have I,” she said. “But my son loves them.”
You thought of the little blonde boy that sometimes accompanied her and her fiance to the shop on the weekends. He always got a cup of steamed milk to look like his parents, but he always ended up dunking his cookie in it when they sat down at a table.
“I’ll have to try one then.”
The agent left before she could notice the board, which had her order paired with an iced cookie named “The Mother” written among the rest.
---
Per usual, Derek Morgan and Penelope Garcia came into the shop together. You knew their flirtatious behavior was actually a demonstration of a platonic friendship, but that was only because Rossi had told you so.
“Baby Girl,” Morgan said to Garcia as you handed him his normal robusta medium roast red eye with just enough hazelnut creamer that the coffee wasn’t ridiculously bitter, “I’ve got the payment for today.”
“Derek, you know very well that I can and will hack into the system and change the credit card number to mine,” she told him, quickly glancing at you to say. “I promise I’m not stealing money from the shop. I love local businesses. If anything I would give you more money so this place stays open.”
You smiled, preparing her extremely complex order that changed slightly from day-to-day but always stayed as sweet as possible. Today it was an arabica medium roast from Ethiopia with all the fixings to complete the order into a chocolate caramel mocha.
“I’m sure my boss would appreciate that,” you told her. The idea of your father having to deal with a woman as sweet and eccentric as Penelope never failed to make you laugh.
She dug a handful of coins out of her purse to put in the tip jar before her and Morgan bid you a good day and left to go to work. You adjusted the order labeled “The Techie” to fit her drink for that day, but left Derek’s alone - “The Door Destroyer.”
---
Emily Prentiss was the last of the team to grab her coffee that morning. You were aware that she was the most observant in everyday situations, but that morning she was behind schedule by around ten minutes. Her boots clicked against the floor of the shop - lower pitched than the sound of heels but higher than those of men’s shoes. She moved fast towards the counter.
“I have your order ready,” you told her. “Robusta african dark roast latte with a double shot of espresso.”
“Thank you so much.” She paid quickly, leaving a handsome tip.
In all her rush her observation skills had faltered. Not only had she missed that she had a milk mustache, but she also didn’t see that her order on the board was labeled “The Modern Femme Fatale”.
---
“So,” Rossi said casually. “The best coffee near Quantico?”
With all the extra paperwork, the team had decided they needed extra caffeine, a short break, and some fresh air. Even Hotch thought it was a good idea, which is how David Rossi ended up walking towards the Pick Your Poison coffee shop with the rest of the BAU.
“It’s great,” Reid started. “They let you pick everything from the location, the bean type, the roast. There was this one time they got in a robusta from Brazil that-”
“Or you can just pick from their menu,” JJ told Rossi, interrupting Reid before he could go on any further. “It doesn’t have to be complicated.”
“If you say so,” Rossi replied nonchalantly.
The team filed into the cafe and he saw you working behind the counter, your hair pulled away from your face as you checked the machinery. You looked up at them as they entered, all still oblivious to the small daily specials board that had their orders on it.
They greeted you and ordered one at a time, the same thing each of them had gotten that morning, leaving Rossi for last. He smiled when he stepped up to the counter and pulled you into a hug. “Mio passerotta.”
You returned his hug, a wide smile spreading across your face. “Ciao, Papa.”
“Wait-” Emily, being the only other person in the room who spoke Italian, picked up on it first. “You’re Rossi’s daughter?”
You laughed. “Have been all my life.”
The team looked around at one another, all slightly confused.
“How did you not know that we work with your dad?” JJ asked.
You shook your head. “Oh, no. I knew. I just wanted to see how long it would take you all to figure it out.”
Morgan looked stunned, Garcia’s jaw couldn’t drop any further, and Reid was tilting his head, probably trying to pick out the similarities between you and your dad.
Hotch turned to Rossi. “Dave, care to explain?”
“It was her idea, not mine.” He held up his hands defensively.
"You've been working here for five months, three weeks, and six days," Reid said.
"That is an excellent observation, doctor," you replied. "In my dad's defense, he said I had to confess before the six month mark."
"I'm suprised it took a confession in the first place," Rossi, then turned to you. “Now, I’ll speak in English so the nerds can understand. What specials do you have today?”
“Well,” You glanced at the special’s board, “If you’re going for the most caffeine I would choose “The Unit Chief” or “The Modern Femme Fatale”. “The Door Destroyer” has the strongest flavor on the bitter side and both “The Genius” and “The Techie” lean towards sweet. I’d recommend “The Mother”, but it’s past 11 AM and we all know how la mia bisnonna feels about cappuccinos past the morning.”
The team looked around at one another in complete shock over the specials order board you had put together. A smirk crossed your face as they gawked at you ever so slightly.
Your dad chuckled. “I’ll just go with a good old fashioned un caffe, then.”
“Presto in arrivo,” you said, and got to work on everyone’s order’s, but not before adding a single shot of espresso to the board called “Mia Papa.”

Cheol secretly clearing your schedule for the week to take you on a surprise trip to Jeju 😌
IT'S THIS SEUNGCHEOL ACTUALLY
when you miss seungcheol but you're going on a trip to jeju without him
A/n: not proofread, just fluff!!! Short lol idk the wc bc i wrote it on tumblr. Thank u anon i love u for this, virtually kissing you on the mouth (with consent) for your big brain😗😗😗😗
The company has given you a month break on top of the first two weeks you were told to rest by your doctor.
Seungcheol tries to be there as much as he can, but between concert preparation and some other schedules, he can only squeeze in so much of his time between his overall schedules.
You've been recovering well, thankfully, and you’ve declared yourself too well rested that you're at the point where you're antsy and you just want to move. So you've been catching up with friends and family instead; meeting them over meals and desserts.
Obviously, Seungcheol can't come with you even though he would love to. He was going to join one of the dinner with your family, but one of his schedule got delayed for two hours so there goes his plan. Instead, he quickly sent your family a set of desserts as an apology like the good boyfriend that he is.
That said, you're on your last week of resting and you'll belatedly return to your schedule starting on Tuesday. Which you're kinda excited for because you miss your hectic schedules already, but it also kinda sucks because you've only gotten to see Seungcheol about four times for a few short hours throughout your break. It was such a good opportunity to finally spend time with him, but, then again, he has schedules to attend to and you understand.
Still, you were hoping you can finally just laze around with him even for a day.
"You're all packed?" Seungcheol asks lazily through the phone, his face filling your entire screen.
"Pretty much." You nod as you look through your luggages. "This is enough... right?
Seungcheol laughs incredulously, and you glare at him because you already know what he's going to say.
"Baby, you're--"
"--going on a three days trip, I know. But you don't know what's going to happen!"
He grins so hard his cheeks hurt, and it takes everything in him to hold back from telling you just how much he knows what's going to happen during your trip.
"Curse my cousin for asking me to go on a trip out of nowhere. She knows I'm the worst when it comes to packing. How could she ask me if I want to go to Jeju three days ago! Three!"
"But you're excited anyway, right?" He coaxes you softly, reminding you that it's been quite some time since you go on a trip that is not related to your schedule.
"I am." You admit, then drop the sundress you're going to put into the luggage (last minute because you're literally leaving to the airpory in an hour) before you take your phone and plops down the bed, looking at him through your screen. "I wish I could've gone with you, though."
"I know." He tries to sound as sad as possible, and he's thankful that you were too busy pouting to see the battle he's close to losing to fight a smile. "We'll go on a trip soon, I promise."
"Don't make promises like that." You say sternly; he knows just how much you hate promises like that, and he's learned not to say them carelessly, but of course he says that because he knows just how soon that actually is.
"I'm sorry, I just really want to go on a trip with you, too." He musters the most pitiful tone he can let out, and you roll your eyes before you tell him he's obligated to take you on a trip now that he's said it. "I will. It'll happen before you know it."
You're not playing with him anymore though, because you're suddenly hit with an overwhelming sense of loneliness even though he's here with you on the phone almost everyday. You don't want to sound clingy, because you're grateful that Seungcheol always tries to spare the time to talk to you on the phone when he could; but it's actually been a month or so since you actually spend time to be with each other and you suddenly miss him so, so dearly.
"I miss you..." Seungcheol would've missed it had he not been staring at you, and he returns the sentiment before he winces at his manager telling him they've arrived at their destination. "Go. Your schedule is waiting."
"I'll see you very soon, okay? Promise me you'll have fun in Jeju?"
"I will if you're there with me."
Seungcheol laughs, which seems to help you smile also because you've always claimed you're his number one fan when it comes to that.
"Alright, I'll see what I can do about that."
"It's fine." You brush off his words, not wanting him to feel bad about it. "I love you. Do well on your schedule today."
"Love you too." He smiles before you hang up, not forgetting to remind you to eat properly.
You don't get to be dramatic and wail about your loneliness, because it's not even three minutes later that someone knocks on your door and you open it only to have your breath knocked out of your lungs.
"Surprise!" Seungcheol grins, his arms wide open, ready to wrap into your frame. "I heard you're all ready for Jeju?"

A picture-Perfect Hello.
Spencer Reid picture-perfect.
Spencer Reid had no idea when he came home from a long case that his new neighbor would be the love of his life. And together they would create the picture-perfect life.
A four-part series.
Warning Contains spoilers for Season 13 as well as Season 12. Post prison Spencer Reid.
Ages 18 and over. Contains oral sex. Penetrative sex. Reader on birth control pills.
Spencer came home from a long case. A six Day one to be exact. He was surprised to see a pile of boxes sitting in the hallway in front of an apartment building that he assumed was still to be empty when he came back home. It's not that he didn't want new neighbors. He just didn't expect there to be any, given that that apartment has been vacant for the past seven months.
he was So exhausted from the trip back home that he really just wanted to go to sleep. But he knows that that would be rude not to even try to offer Any help to his new neighbor. So he unlocked his door and put his satchel inside. Going over to the refrigerator to grab something to drink, leaving the front door open So he could see if the new neighbor passed by. After a few minutes, he decided to shut the front door and go stand out in the hall. He made it to the front of his sofa before he saw a pile of boxes walking by his door.
"Oh, here, let me help you" he said, running out of his door.
" Oh my gosh, thank you so much that this so kind of you." He heard a woman's voice coming from behind the pile of boxes.
" Sure, no problem. Let me just grab these" he said, pulling two boxes off the top of the pile.
Spencer couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the woman that was behind the box. a Brunette with Short hair. And blue eyes.
" Hello" he managed to get out. " My name is Spencer, Spencer Reid. I live in this apartment right here". He told her, using his thumb to point back at the door.
" Hello my name is y/n It's so nice to meet you. I didn't know if anybody lived in this apartment. I've been moving in for the past two days and I haven't seen you."
" I was at work. I.. I'm, I'm an FBI agent, so I wasn't home for six days."
" Ohh wow. An FBI agent? That must be really exciting."
" It can be. It has its moments that it's exciting. Yes, I, you know, I I definitely enjoy the work that I do, putting away the bad guys and all that. Definitely rewarding, yes. Kind of tiring though as well if I'm being honest. But still, it's.. it's really nice work." Spencer began to ramble.
" Would you like to come in and put those boxes down?"
" Boxes? Ohh yes yes. But I would love to put the boxes down" Spencer answered, not even realizing anymore that he was holding boxes.
" Just try to find a place to put them down at. I'm sorry I haven't really officially moved in yet. I'm staying with a friend of mine while I get everything out of my dirtbag ex boyfriend's apartment." She explained to Spencer she was waving her finger around the room with her other hand on her hip.
"Oh, sure, no problem. It it's going to take some time to move in. I'm sorry about your boyfriend."
" Oh, don't be. He was a lousy piece of crap that wasn't even any good in bed. I mean, it is seriously Exhausting having to fake orgasms all the time. It would have been nice if I could have had a real one during the two years we were together." She huffed out angrily.
Spencer's face must have lost all color or the opposite turned as red as a strawberry when she was saying this. As she stopped right in her tracks and they started apologizing.
" Oh my God, I am so sorry. I don't know why I said that. I mean, I just met you like what, 5 minutes ago if that. And here I am already talking like this. Please forgive me. I understand if you don't want to help me bring in any more boxes and if you want to pretend that I don't even live here, I completely understand. Have a tendency to over share my feelings when I'm angry and Needless to say, I'm angry."
" no need to apologize. I understand you being angry and you know, I hear a lot of stuff being an FBI agent. Plus I do have three women on our team, so, you know, I I hear things."
"Wow. Three women on your team. That's impressive. I just assumed that the FBI thought that that was men's work. You know? Good to see that we're making a little progress in the world."
" Ohh no. The FBI is full of women. You really have made a lot of progress in the work world. You know, it's been statistically proven that women are more effective at catching serial killers than men in some cases." He Explained to her.
" Really? well. I guess if you piss us off enough, we'll hunt you down."
" I guess you could say that, yes. Uh, there's three agents that I work with that are women. And then there's our technical analyst, Penelope Garcia. She's wonderful as well."
" Well, that's good. Got to get rid of those bad guys, right? And bad ladies, I'm sure as well."
"Yep" He said, rocking back and forth from his toes to his heels. Kind of uncomfortable now that the conversation has ended.
" So do you have more boxes you need me to help you bring in or?" He asked, waving his hands around nervously.
" Yes, I do. I have five more boxes out in the car."
" OK, well here let me help you with that."
"So does you being an agent mean that I'm not going to see you much? Because that would be really sad. I think you're really cute. And you obviously are smart."
"OH no. I'm home when I can be most of the time. And if I'm not home or out on a case, I spent a lot of time on a jet too. You know, going to the crime scenes. It's a lot easier for me when it's local because then I get to come back home. It gets a little tiring having to be in hotels all the time. Sometimes it's really nice to just come home to the comfort of your own apartment and bed, you know?"
"It is."
After Spencer helped her bring in the rest of her boxes, she went over to a box marked kitchen and pulled out a coffee pot.
" Would you like some coffee? I love coffee and I can't live without it." Asked, holding up her pink coffee maker.
" Really. I love coffee too. Yes, I.. I.. I would love some. My friends always put me down. Well, my my coworkers. But they're like my friends. Actually. They're like my family. They make fun of me sometimes for loving coffee so much."
" Why would they Make fun of you for that?. Oh well. Between you and me, we could probably empty out the entire state of coffee beans."
" Yeah, we probably could." He said with a big grin on his face.
" So how long have you lived here?" She asked him.
" 14 years."
"Wow, 14 years. That's amazing. Must be really nice here. Well, for the amount of time that you hear, I guess you couldn't really judge."
" Well, I've been here long enough, yeah, to know that. That's. It really is nice. Yeah, but you're right, the amount of time that I'm actually here for. Really can't judge, but sometimes I am here for a week at a time."
She walks into the kitchen and plugs in the coffee pot.
" I know exactly where my coffee beans are. They're in that box over there marked coffee."
" Spencer Looks over at the box. "Ohh here let me get it for you."
" Thank you. You're such a gentleman. I mean, not only helping me move in, but also helping me make coffee. You'll find mugs in that same box, by the way."
When Spencer opens the box, he sees 5 bags of coffee and seven mugs.
" Ohh wow my friend Penelope. She would love your mugs. She's the queen of coffee mugs. Although in her case sometimes it's also hot tea, so mugs in general."
" I think I'd really get along with this, Penelope."
" She is wonderful." Spencer tells her where the chuckle.
Spencer hands her a bag of coffee, a pack of coffee filters and two mugs. A pink mug with a rainbow on it and a black mug that says I love coffee.
" I think this will be my favorite mug" he told her, holding up the one that says I love coffee.
" Well then, we will make that your special mug for when you come over, and that is if you want to ever come back."
" I want to come back. I I look forward to it."
Spencer Reid being a man of science, never really believed in love at first sight. But there's something about her he feels that he could spend the rest of his life with, even though he's only known her for about an hour tops at this point.
"You know, if you come back tomorrow, I have been known to make some pretty good muffins. By then I should be able to find my baking stuff. But that is only if you would like to. I understand. If you don't want to, it's. Completely understandable."
" No, not at all. I would love to come over. Muffins sound really good. Muffins and coffee? That's. That's really good. Yeah." He said with a chuckle, so happy that she would like for him to come back.
" OK then uh 8:00 be OK?"
" That'd be great. I don't start teaching until 10:00, so. 8:00 would be good."
" I thought you were an FBI agent".
"Ohh. Well, yeah, I ...I am. I am an FBI agent. But I also teach sometimes because I'm not Fully on the team at the moment, but that's a that's a long story for. Another time so". Spencer said nervously. What was she going to think if she asked him why he wasn't on the team full time? What if she doesn't like that he was in prison even though he didn't really commit the crime he was arrested for?
" OK, well, another time it is."
" So I can be here at 8:00." Spencer asked, wringing his hands.
" Unless 7:30 would be better for you."
" 7:30 would be great. That would be great. That would give me half hour more to be able to get ready to go and teach my class."
" OK, 7:30 it is. I should already be started by the muffins, by then"
" Great" Spencer said.
" Do you take your coffee?"
"Black with sugar." Spencer answered, placing the two Mugs next to the coffee maker that was just about done.
" Black with sugar, You got it."
There was a little bit of awkward silence as the coffee finished brewing. Before y/n Poured 2 mugs of it, adding the sugar into both mugs and going over to the refrigerator to get some Creamer.
" I know it's strange. I already have Creamer in my refrigerator, but says I said I've been moving in for a few days, so I don't really know why I have Creamer in my refrigerator. Didn't even have my coffee maker yet, but I'm a weird one. "
" Not at all. " Spencer said.
After the coffees had been made, the two of them sat down at her little kitchen table.
" You know, this table was actually left behind from the previous renter. I don't know why, but hey, I was happy to have it. " y/n said.
" Yes, well left behind furniture is always good. Unfortunately, nothing came with my apartment. "
" Wow. Usually somebody leaves something behind. " she says taking a sip of coffee.
" So can I ask what you do? Or do you not have a job yet in between jobs?"
" Ohh yes, I'm a Blogger."
" Spencer said, not really knowing what that was.
"Do you know what that is?" She asked him. Putting down her mug.
"No, not really. I'm sorry."
"No problem. I have a blog. It's a computer thing. It's on the Internet. It's a page Where I show you how to do things like highlight your hair and things I used to do. I also show a lot of cooking things, like how to make the muffins I'm going to make tomorrow, along with other things that I make."
" Oh, so you teach people how to do things via the Internet?"
" Yes, exactly."
" Ohh like life's important things like faking orgasms." He said with a chuckle as he took his first sip of coffee.
y/n Almost spit her coffee out at his response.
" Yes, exactly. I I really did do one of those. It was my most popular video to date, actually." She told him, laughing.
" Well, at least you're helping people with the important things in the world. Ohh my gosh, I'm so sorry. I really need to be getting to work. Umm, so I can come back tomorrow, right?"
"Absolutely. I look forward to it."
After Spencer went to teach another class, knowing that people really weren't going to be paying him any attention anyway. He was just kind of going through the motions. His mind, even though he was trying to teach about serial killers, just kept going back to His beautiful new neighbor and how he couldn't wait to get back to her apartment tomorrow.
Once class was over and he stopped at the grocery store to pick up something for him to eat for dinner. He went back home. He was so tempted to knock on his neighbor's door to see how she was doing. Or really just to see her face again. To ask her if she would like to come over and share his dinner, but he didn't want to be too forward, she said. I'll see you tomorrow morning, so tomorrow morning it would be.
He ate his dinner, took his shower, got in his pajamas, brushed his teeth and went to bed. Unfortunately though, for Spencer, sleep did not come easily to him. He just kept thinking about the beautiful woman next door. But was she doing? Was she sleeping? Was she lying awake, thinking about him, The way he was laying awake? Thinking about her?
He really needs to stop these Thoughts that are running through his head and try to get some sleep morning would come soon enough and he would be at her front door again, tapping on the wood, waiting to get inside.
Eventually, morning came and he did just the thing that he said he was going to do, ran out his front door before smoothening out any wrinkles that may be on his sweater. Before knocking lightly on her wooden front door.
" I'm coming, he heard being shouted from The other side of the door. He waited for a few seconds before he heard the deadbolt on lock the door opening, revealing the woman that he's awaiting all night to see. Wearing a light pink tank top and a purple apron. That had some baking flour stuck to it.
In all honesty, she was so beautiful and the fact that she was making muffins for him, it took all he had not to drop to one knee right now and ask her to marry him. It wasn't just because she would serve him muffins. It was because no one was willing to make anything like this for Spencer and his entire life. And even though he had only met this woman one day prior, he knew he was in love with her. He knew that this was the woman that he was destined to spend the rest of his life with.
" Hi, come on in. I'm so sorry I had to run to the store. So I'm a little bit later making the muffins and I thought I was going to be. I didn't have any flower. I forgot that I threw it at my ex when he told me that he didn't need my cooking anymore. It was juvenile, I know. But it was in the heat of the moment. So I just threw it at him."
" Oh, wow. OK, no problem. Take your time. If if you don't have the time to make the muffins right now, it's OK. I can come back tomorrow."
" Ohh no no, she cut him off. I have the flour, I'm just measuring it out now."
"OK, sure, can I help you make the muffins? I've never really baked anything before."
" Really. You would like to help me make muffins? OH my gosh yes. Thank you so much. I would love for you to do that. You know my boyfriend Will, my ex sorry-ass boyfriend never would have offered to help cook with me. He thought that cooking and baking was stupid and that it was just. Useless hobby."
" Well, that's not nice. Baking is a wonderful hobby. Cooking. We all need to eat to survive, right? So he didn't have any right to pick on you for that. I'm so sorry that he was like that to you. I promise I will never be that way to you. I mean, not that we're a couple. You know, I'm not presuming that you would want to be in a relationship with me. I'm just saying if it should ever come to that, I wouldn't be that kind of boyfriend. I'd be loving and supportive and help you with anything that you wanted." He began rambling.
" That would be wonderful, you know, if we ended up being together and cooked together, married one day. Just think. We would tell our children how we met and they would think it was so sweet."
Now Spencer's mind was really racing again. She's considering a life with him. She's actually thinking about a life with him and having children with him and telling them about how they met one day.
" Spencer?" He heard her saying.
"yes?" he answered.
" Would you like to come into the kitchen and help me?"
"Oh, Oh my gosh. Yes, yes, I would love to. OK, umm, So what do you need me to do?"
" Well, unfortunately I don't have a spare apron. And if you're planning on wearing this Sweater. You may not want to mess with the flour, but you can wash off the blueberries for me.
"Oh yes, of course." Spencer said, opening up the pints of blueberries and pouring them into a pink strainer to wash them off.
" I'm so sorry that you have to wait longer for the muffins because I forgot to get flour.
" It's OK. I'm actually happy that it happened because now I get to be a part of the muffin making process." Her as he finished straining the rest of the water off of the blueberries.
" That's so sweet, you can take and dump them into the bowl right there with the sugar."
The two of them stood side-by-side preparing muffin batter.
Before placing the batter into baking cups and putting them in the oven. y/n Pouring some coffee for them while they wait.
" So how did you sleep last night?" She asked, putting the two mugs of coffee down.
How did I sleep? OH my gosh how can I tell her that I couldn't sleep? Because all I could think about was her. How much I wanted to come back over here and see her. How I know she's the love of my life. How can I tell her that without her thinking that I'm crazy? Spencer thought to himself.
" I slept rather well, thank you." He told her he feels so bad about lying to her, but how can he tell her about his true feelings without scaring her away?
Once the muffins were done and they started eating them, it was the most delicious blueberry muffin Spencer had ever had.
" These are incredible" he told her before stuffing and other piece into his mouth.
" Thank you so much. I'm so glad that you like them. You know, I also make coffee cakes and strudels and stuff like that, so, you know, I could keep feeding you if you're interested."
If Spencer could have his way, he would make breakfast with her every day for the rest of his life.
" I would like that. he told her with a smile.
The next two weeks went on like this, meeting every day. Went to teach, unfortunately his teacher. Come to an end and he was forced to go back to the station.
" I'm back on FBI time now, so I may be gone for a little while. I'll let you know if I have a case. That way you don't start making something for me and I'm not here to get it." Told her, looking down at his thumbs that he was twiddling.
" OK, well, I'm going to miss you if you have a case, but I have a lot of muffins leftover. Would your team like some?" She asked him.
" I I think they would, yes, they're amazing. And if they don't want them, well, I'll gladly eat them."
" OK, great. I'll pack some up for you."
Spencer reluctantly left her apartment to go to the station, carrying with him a large basket of blueberry muffins. They placed them on the table of the round table room.
Luke came into the room and saw the basket of muffins along with Spencer sitting in his usual chair.
" Hey, welcome back Reid" Luke said to him.
" Hey, Luke. Thanks. It's nice to be back."
" Muffins. Are those for anybody or are they just for you?" Luke asked.
" There For anyone. My new neighbor Likes to bake, so she sent me to work with some muffins for you guys."
" She Ohh. I'm I'm not prying just is she someone that You might be interested in. I'm. I'm not meaning to pry. I just. I worry about you. You know, you go back to your apartment all by yourself and you don't really get any visitors. It would just be nice for you to have someone."
" I really like her, Luke. I don't know what I'm going to do. I don't know how to tell her. You know, I know that I'm the age that I am, but I don't have much experience with women. The only girlfriend long term that I really had got murdered in front of me. So I don't know how to talk to women." Spencer said sadly.
" Well reid. I can honestly tell you if a woman is willing to make you muffin's. And allow you into her apartment, I'm assuming."
" She did. I helped her move in."
" Then yes, she likes you." Luke told him before taking a bite of muffin.
" Really?" Spencer asked.
" Yes, really. And if she makes muffins like this my God man, go back home now and ask her to marry you. These are delicious."
Unfortunately for Spencer, he was going to have to wait to see his ladylove again. he had to go away on a case. The next three months' time continued to go this way. He would be home for a day or two enjoying the baked Goods with Her before having to go away on another case. They really didn't get to spend much time together anymore. They were both afraid that the feelings that they had for each other would fizzle away. But maybe, just maybe, people were right. Time apart does make the heart grow fonder. It left them both wondering though. Feel this way about each other. They're just neighbors, and they've never even kissed. Just enjoying talking about things over coffee and baked goods that Spencer often helped make. He really enjoyed the baking process and the fact that it gave him more time to spend with y/n but all of that changed quickly after Spencer finally had some time off since he was teaching again. So she invited him to come over and watch a movie. That was for the best, considering that Spencer really didn't have any movies that weren't foreign films.
"She picked (your favorite movie) To watch She Thought that Spencer would really enjoy it.
" I can't believe you've never seen this movie. I've seen it about 1000 times and can say just about every line with it". She told him.
" Well, I haven't seen very many movies that aren't in foreign languages, so this will be a fun to experience for me."
That night was a turning point in their relationship. As they sat on the sofa together, they realized neither one of them was really interested in the movie. They were more interested in each other. They've been away from each other for too long, and tonight was the night they were finally going to kiss.
However, Spencer Reid being amazing at everything was also in the world's greatest kisser. We've got turned on so much by the kissing that it wasn't long before Spencer was asking against her lips. "Can we take this to the bedroom?"
y/n Moaned a Yes, against his lips.
If Spencer picked her up off the couch and carried her into her bedroom, he knew exactly where it was. Not because he's been to her apartment so many times, but because the layout of her apartment was exactly the same as his own. Before he knew it, he was peeling off her clothes and kissing her passionately.
Shouldn't she was doing the same to him with the same urgency.
However, before Spencer removed her underwear. He asked if it was OK for him to do so.
y/n Couldn't get the word "yes" out fast enough. As soon as she was bare to him, he looked up into her eyes to make sure that She was OK with what he was about to do.
She panted out a yes before he licked right up her center. Causing her to moan out his name. Something that, if he was being honest with himself, was something that he was dying to hear over the past 3 1/2 months.
He took his time with her, loving the way that her fingers felt running through his hair. After he gave her two mind-blowing orgasms, he couldn't wait anymore. He needed to be inside of her.
"Do you have any protection?" He asked her, praying to the gods, anyone of them that she would have something.
"I'm on the pill and I'm clean". She panted out
the smile on his face, almost taking up his entire face at this point.
"Good" he panted out. Before slowly pushing inside of her. They both moaned out at the feeling. Something that they were both longing for, for so long. As he slowly moved inside of her, his fingers intertwining with hers.
The only sounds in the apartment at this point was the sounds of their moans and lips smacking.
" Where do you want me?" Spencer asked y/n Feeling that he was close told him.
" Inside, inside Spencer, I want to feel all of you."
And be more thrilled at these words. They both orgasm together and it was like pure heaven.
Spencer helped her ride out her high, and as he did, he couldn't help but stare into her eyes, seeing how beautiful she is.
Spencer eventually had to pull out. So sad for both of them since they both waited for so long. Both of them hoping that it would happen again.
They laid in her bed. Spencer's arms, holding her tightly to his body.
" Are you sorry that it happened?" Spencer asked sadly. As y/n Hasn't said anything since they orgasmed.
" No, not at all. Are you?" She asked with full of worry.
" No, absolutely not. I was worried that you were going to be sorry. I mean, it's been silence for a little bit." Spencer said with a gulp.
" No, I'm so happy that it happened. I waited for so long, you know, Honestly, I wanted you from the very first time I saw you, but I didn't want you to think that I was Trashy." She told him, running her hand up and down his bare chest.
" I would never think that, and honestly, I was the same way about you." Spencer told her with a smile.
"Who would have ever thought that me walking by with a stack of boxes would have led to this? that just a simple hello would have led to where we are today."
" I know. I guess you could say it was a picture-Perfect Hello." Spencer said before kissing her again.
Thank you so much for reading. Comments will be greatly appreciated and I look forward to writing the rest of this story. there should be another chapter out by the summer.

The Aftermath || LN4 {3}
Pairing: Lando Norris x widow!reader Summary: Things are changing between you and Lando, slowly but surely pulling you further from your grief. Warnings: 18+ only, grief and loss, fluff WC: 2.3k
F1 Masterlist || One || Two || Three || Four || Five || Six || Seven || Eight || Nine || Ten || Eleven || Twelve || Thirteen || Epilogue
You weren’t quite able to pinpoint the moment things changed between you and Lando. It had been subtle and it had been soft, but there was no doubt it was felt on both sides.
Maybe it began the first day he showed up, when he had rescued you from the hole you had buried yourself in. Maybe it was the night he woke you from the recurring nightmare that plagued your sleep and he had held you until you could breathe steadily again. Maybe it was when he invited you to England and you said yes.
You were both surprised by the answer considering only a month ago you had struggled to leave the house and now you were going to leave the country. It was progress, and it wasn’t forever - just for ten days while Lando did some testing in Woking and raced at Silverstone.
There was only one condition to your trip, and your stance was firm on it. You did not want to see him in his race car. Just the thought of it made you ill despite him having raced the other week in Austria. You hadn’t been able to turn on the tv while the race was on, in fact you had turned your phone off completely too so you didn’t hear any news about it.
What you didn’t know couldn’t hurt you. Or that’s what you told yourself when you spent hours trying to distract yourself out in the garden. The roses were trimmed terribly because you hadn’t been able to concentrate on what you were doing. You were lucky you still had your fingers intact after some of the wayward clippings you had done while your mind drifted away on you.
It was only after you knew the race had surely finished that you turned your phone back on to see dozens of missed calls from Lando, the voicemails growing increasingly more frantic as he begged you to answer him.
“Is this all you’ve packed?” Lando asked as he picked up the carry-on sized suitcase.
“Most of my clothes are too loose,” you said with a shrug to ease his mind but you could see the worry crumple his forehead. “It’s been a while since I last went but there’s still shops in England, right?”
He chuckled as he put the bag in the boot of the McLaren René had given you. “I could get you some Quadrant gear. It would look good on you.”
“Because it’s yours or because I can make anything look good?” you joked as you pulled an exaggerated pose for an imaginary photoshoot.
His smile grew as he unzipped his bag, pulling out an oversized hoodie with his brand’s logo on it. “Let’s see.”
He pulled it over your head and you dutifully slipped your arms in as you inhaled his scent that clung to the soft material.
Taking a step back he tapped his fingers across his lips. “Hmmm,” he hummed deep in thought before nodding. “Both. Definitely both.”
Lando opened the car door for you, closing it behind you before walking around the car and taking the driver’s seat. “Did I pick up my passport?” he asked himself as he buckled his seatbelt and frowned.
“No,” you said with a shake of your head before pulling it out of your handbag to wave it in front of him. “But I did.”
“What would I do without you?” he swooned dramatically as he took it and shoved it into his hoodie pocket. The car roared to life and he connected his phone to the airplay since your playlists were a year out of date.
“Go out, have fun and live it up in your 20’s like you should,” you offered as he pulled out of the driveway.
“You’re in your 20’s too.”
“I don’t know how to have fun anymore and I think I age in dog years now, so really I'm in my mid-thirties. Which sucks because I’ll be due a midlife crisis soon.”
“I am going to prove you wrong,” he said as he reached over the gearstick and took your hand. “We are going to go out and have fun, promise.”
You were grateful to have Lando’s hoodie when you landed at Heathrow and saw that the summer weather in Monaco hadn’t extended to the UK. A miserable grey skyline greeted you outside the airport before a horn tooted in the pick up zone and Lando waved to his friend Max.
The footpath was slick with puddles and the rain only seemed to get heavier as you prepared to leave the shelter of the terminal for a mad dash to the car. Before you could step out into the downpour, Lando stopped you and pulled your hood up over your head then donned his own and took your hand.
The first time he had held your hand you had been left feeling confused and guilty. It had been the first time you felt safe in a year. It had been the first time you had felt warmth in a year. It had felt like a betrayal because it had only been a year.
You had tried to put distance between the two of you after it happened, pushing him away and rebuilding the wall around your heart that he had been stealthily dismantling brick by brick. But in true Lando fashion he had blatantly ignored your request for space and instead arrived back at your home with a large suitcase and stayed even more.
It had taken time but Lando had convinced you of what deep down you already knew, René would want you to be happy. He would not have cared that the happiness came in the form of his teammate and friend - if anything, at least you knew it was someone René had trusted and shared the same values with.
Once you were able to accept that truth and forgive yourself for the guilt you had felt, things got better. Now you welcomed the small touches, the soft kisses he pressed to your forehead and the grounding weight of his arm when he draped it over your shoulders.
“Ready to run?” he asked as he tugged the strings for your hood, closing the gap around your face to minimise the chances of getting wet.
“No, just please don’t let me slip and make an ass of myself.” You could see the phones pointed your way, thumbs tapping the capture button as they took photos of you and Lando. The hoodies weren’t enough to hide your identity but you had grown used to the attention over the years of dating and then marrying an F1 driver, it was just different now that the pictures were with Lando.
“Never,” he chuckled and tightened his fingers laced with yours, “only I can take embarrassing pictures of you.”
You sent him a droll stare but he just smirked before Max tooted the horn again and you both rushed out into the rain. Your shoes splashed into the puddles and soon a giggle escaped as you tipped your head back to feel the cold and refreshing droplets on your lips while Lando opened the car door for you.
“As much as I love hearing you laugh, come on before you catch a cold,” Lando said with a smile as he placed his hand on the small of your back, guiding you into the backseat.
“Hey, Max,” you greeted the former racer who had been in the same up and coming circles of drivers as René had been. He had become a familiar face in the last month whenever Lando jumped on the simulator in the basement and streamed with the rest of his Quadrant esports team.
“Hey, Y/N,” he nodded to the hoodie with a grin as the boot slammed shut and Lando sprinted to the front seat, shaking his hair out as he pushed his hood back. “Nice kit.”
“What’s up, bro?” Lando greeted him before following his line of sight to you in the backseat. “Looks good, right?”
“Yeah, you could totally do modelling, or be an influencer.”
“No thanks, that sounds horrible,” you said with a roll of your eyes as you buckled up. “Plus, I deleted all my social media accounts so I have no one to influence anyway.”
Max shook his head in disbelief before focusing on the road as he pulled out into the midday traffic and headed to the hotel Lando had booked.
“That Monaco tax holiday is paying off, smart lad,” Max joked as he pulled up at The Shard in the heart of the city. “Did you get the tickets?”
Lando’s eyes flickered your way and Max bit his lip before mouthing ‘sorry’ and Lando sighed. “Yes, I got those explicitly stated surprise tickets.”
“Do I get to know what they are?” you asked as you leaned in between their seats.
Lando turned and booped you on the nose. “Nope, that would ruin the surprise.”
“What should I wear?” you asked Lando as you tried to phish for information on where he was taking you while you rode the elevator up to the room on the 50th floor, but he really wasn’t giving you much.
“Whatever you feel comfortable in.”
You tugged the hem of the hoodie down lower so it hid your denim shorts and looked like you were wearing nothing underneath. “What if I’m comfortable in this?”
His lips tugged up in amusement. “Then you can wear just that.”
“Hmm, so it’s nowhere fancy, that’s a relief.”
“I would totally take you somewhere fancy in that. I especially like this part,” he said as he turned you around so your back was to the mirrored wall.
“My ass?” you joked as you looked back over your shoulder.
“That too, or more, actually, but I was talking about this,” he explained as dragged his index finger across his name that was printed just above the hem.
Your breath caught in your throat at the touch and you peered up at him as the temperature in the elevator skyrocketed faster than it was carrying you up the skyscraper.
Maybe it was being out of the house you had shared with René that spurred the sudden freedom you felt, or maybe it was the culmination of touches and sweet gestures that had been building for weeks. Whatever it was, the cage you had kept the last little piece of yourself hidden in was unlocked by it.
His eyes held yours as his palm came to rest over his name and pulled you flush against his body. Your hands naturally found their way to his shoulders as you steadied yourself and you were struck by the grey that danced in his blue eyes, holding the same electric intensity of the storm you were sheltering from. But this was your true shelter, his eyes, his arms, they were your safe haven.
“Lando?” you asked shakily as your eyes drifted down to his full lips that he wet with his tongue.
“Yes, Y/N?” he asked, his voice dropping an octave.
“Will you-” Your lips sealed shut as the doors opened at the leisure centre floor and a woman in her gym gear hopped in.
A frustrated groan nearly escaped when Lando changed his hold on you, curling his arm around your waist as he chuckled into your hair. Unfortunately the woman was only a floor below you so there was no time to pick up where you left off and then Lando’s hands were preoccupied with carrying the bags to the suite.
The space was stunning as you took it all in and your heart skipped a beat at the sight of the large bed, the only one in the suite. There had been nights when Lando fell asleep next to you, when your nightmares woke him up and he didn’t have the energy to go back to the spare room he had taken over. But this was different.
Walking further into the living room you froze at the terrifying landscape before you, the sprawling city almost invisible beneath the blanket of clouds across the skyline. It was dizzying how high up you were with only a thin pane of glass separating you from the storm outside.
“I’m afraid of heights,” you whispered as you took a step back and into Lando’s chest, his arms enclosing around you.
“I won’t let you fall.” His breath was warm on your neck as he kissed your racing pulse. “Now, what were you going to ask me in the elevator?”
You turned in his arms and draped your arms around his neck as your heart threatened to beat right out of your chest. “Will you…kiss me?”
You felt his smile on your skin as he kissed your forehead and you tipped your head back to tell him that wasn’t what you meant but he was quicker and stole the words right from your parted lips as he kissed you properly.
You might have floated away on the clouds outside if it wasn’t for his arms holding you down. Oxygen no longer meant anything as you breathed him in instead, your fingers combing into his curls with desperation to keep him close.
Both of you were reluctant to break away but with screaming lungs you pulled back with a gasp and he dropped his forehead to yours.
“Wow,” he breathed with a soft chuckle that made you giggle. “Can we do that again?”
You answered him with a kiss as your hands drifted up under his hoodie and over the hard planes of his abs. “Mhmm, yes, please.”

y/n’s pov
“Hello Y/N.”
I look up from my place on the grass where I was tying my shoes.
Oh. Him again.
“Hi, Cormac.” I say with a tight-lipped smile, standing up, and walking over to where I left my broom when I was practising.
Cormac follows me like a lost puppy and says, “So uhm how’ve you been?”
It’s been almost four months of this. He comes over to wherever I am and follows me asking pointless questions about the weather or lessons and it would’ve been fine if he wasn’t making uncomfortable inappropriate jokes in between. It’s December now, nearly time for the Yule Ball and I need to shake Cormac off my tail sometime soon or I'll have no hope of finding a date this year.
“Just fine Cormac, what about you?” I say mindlessly, trying to devise ideas to get him away politely.
“I’m good…would be better with you in my bed though…” he says, smoking at me as I give him a disgusted look and stop walking.
Forget trying to be nice, this guy’s a creep.
“Okay Cormac, let's settle this. What’s all this really about? I mean you’ve been following- no practically stalking me for months now, and if it wasn’t creepy enough without the inappropriate jokes, it sure as hell is now. So what do you actually like me or just want to get in my pants?” I say angrily at him, clutching my broom in my hands so hard, my knuckles turn white.
He looks started by my outburst at first but quickly replies and says, “Uhm no, no! Of course I like you Y/N, I just wanted to know if you had a date for the Yule Ball yet?” with the furrows of my brows he leans forward and speaks lowly to me in a more threatening tone, “Sure would be a shame if the whole school found out the truth about your favourite uncle.”
Sirius? What the fuck?
I push him away, “Get the fuck away from me you freak!” I go to leave before he grabs me by my wrist and speaks again, “Come to the ball with me and I won’t say a word about him to anyone,”
“Cormac let go of me,” I say, struggling in his tightening grip.
“Just say yes. Say yes and I’ll let go and no one will have to hear about your uncle.”
“Get away from me!” I shout at him, stomp on his foot and punch his nose the hardest I could, feeling his bones crunching beneath mine. Or maybe it was both our bones.
I hold my now numb hand and leave him on the empty field holding his bloody nose and groaning while I run straight to the castle.
I run aimlessly for about three minutes, turning every which way not expecting anyone to be out in the hallways at this time, “Everyone would be in lessons right now” I think before, to my surprise, I turn the corner and I’m face to face with Theo.
He takes hold of me from my arms before I collapse into him and looks at me in surprise with a cigarette in between his soft pink lips.
I mumble out a quick ‘Sorry’ and move to leave, maybe go back to my common room to look for Hermione but he stops me before I can go anywhere.
His alarmed eyes and lifted brows look down at the tears on my face and the redness around my wrist and knuckles. He takes the cigarette out of his mouth, discarding it on the floor before putting it out with his shoe, takes me gently by the other hand and leads me to the hospital wing.
“Theo, no, I’m fine don’t worry.” I try and reassure him, “I don’t need Madam Pomfrey all over me right now, a potion from Hermione can fix me right up, I promise.”
He ignores me and takes me to an empty bed, telling me to rest my hand and sit still, before moving away to find Madam Pomfrey.
When shes checked me over and given me the right medications, he stares down at me but doesn't say a word until I ask, “What?”.
His reply is cold and quiet, “Who did this to you?”
I try brushing the question off, “Don’t worry about it Theo, I handled it fine.”
“Yeah, I can see that.” he says, looking down at my bandaged hand, and asks again, “Who did this to you Y/N?”
I sigh before answering, “You promise you won’t do anything illegal?”
“I promise.” he says and I extend my pinky on my good hand towards him. His hard expression softens slightly before he extends his and joins our pinkies together muttering another ‘promise’.
“Cormac. He got mad at me because I didn’t want to go to the ball with him and threatened to tell everyone some things about my family.” I say quietly, looking down.
theo’s pov
I don’t say anything as blood rushes to my head, my knuckles already forming into fists, my jaw clenching and my feet turning around to go find the prick.
“No Theo!’ Y/N says after me, trying to grab my arm and stop me from beating the rat up but I hold her hand as gently as I can and ask her to “Please rest Y/N, I’ll be back soon and I promise I won’t do anything too bad.”
“No Theo, please just drop it, it’s fine.” she tries to reassure me.
“What? No it’s not, first of all, he shouldn’t have touched you in the first place, but to hold you like that and threaten you? He’s begging for it now.” I turn to leave again, trying to find him somewhere in this massive castle, trying to calm down before I remember the look on Y/N’s face and all the anger comes rushing back like an extreme storm wave. Fuck this.
I walk around the castle quickly, keeping my eyes and ears open for any signs of the snake until I catch something near the bushes.
“No man, bitch fucked me right over. Broke my nose and everything. But I mean to be fair I do like them feisty if you know what I mean.” I hear his voice like venom before he laughs with his friends.
Before I know it, I’m being pulled away by Mattheo and Draco as Cormac’s friends grab him by his bloody torn shirt. Splatters of his blood are on mine but nowhere near as bad as his.
I had stayed quiet during the whole fight, speaking only with my punches and getting my message across.
A huge crowd has gathered by this point and I’m being assisted to McGonagall’s office by Mattheo and Draco patting me on the back with the teacher in front of us. I know I’ll get detention for a month, maybe two, and probably won’t be able to play Quidditch for a few weeks either but who cares.
It was for her and I don’t regret a fucking thing.
y/n’s pov
I walk down the great dining hall with everyone's eyes on me, whispering things to people around them. More than usual.
I take my usual seat next to Ginny and Hermione and look around at everyone, asking, “What’s going on?”. Ron, Harry and Hermione look at each other awkwardly before Hermione speaks up, “You don’t know what’s happened?”
“No?”
“That boyfriend of yours beat McLaggen up so bad he’s had to go to St. Mungo’s,” Ron speaks up against the silence and my blood turns cold as my stomach flips over.
“What?!” I say, alarmed.
“Yeah mate, everyone saw it… he was ruthless. Didn’t stop until the bloke couldn’t stand up by himself” Harry agrees with Ron as they turn to look at the Slytherin table behind and see Theo talking normally with his friends.
“He deserved it to be fair, I don’t blame Nott for beating him up the way he did.” Hermione says before asking about my hand.
“It’s all fine now, nothing major just a few broken bones.” I say turning my wrist and flexing my fingers before turning to Ron and answering his previous accusation, “And he’s not my boyfriend Ron, he’s just a friend.”
“Yeah well Harry and Cho Chang are friends but you don’t see him going around beating Cedric up.” Ron says stupidly, making Ginny tense up and Hermione glare at him from across the table as I take Ginny’s hand under it.
“Hey Hermione do you have a spare paper and quill?” I ask after we’ve all eaten our dinner and most of the people in the dining hall have cleared off.
“Yes of course, what for?” she asks, pulling a blank piece of paper and quill out of her bag and passing it to me. “I need to send a note.” I say vaguely before scribbling down:
meet me in the astrology tower after curfew.
I pull my wand out of my pocket and perform the paper bird charm, passing the note to Theo on the other side of the hall.
We all watch as he receives it, reads it and looks up at me, and winks. He asks Pansy for a quill and writes back:
See you there darling
I smile, putting the note into my pocket as Hermione squeals at me, Harry smiles and Ron makes a face of throwing up. “And that Ronald, is why you still don’t have a date to the Yule Ball. Speaking of which Harry do you have yours yet?”
“Yep, I do actually.”
“Oh yeah? Who is it?” Ron asks looking over at Harry. Hermione and I give each other a knowing look as Harry says, “Uhm, I’m not at liberty to say.”
Harry gets up to leave to escape the conversation as Hermione and I laugh after him and Ron trailing not too far behind, pestering Harry and threatening him if it's his sister.

“Hey” I hear a soft deep voice behind me as I stare up at the stars from the tower.
I turn around and find Theo wearing a deep red jumper and red plaid pyjamas, holding two cups of hot chocolate coincidently matching with my red plaid shorts and red jumper with my initial on it, courtesy of Mrs Weasley of course.
We smile at each other as he comes close and asks how my hand is, “All better, see” I flex my hand once again to prove it to him and we sit in silence for a few minutes drinking the hot chocolate he’d gotten from the kitchen.
“So,” he starts slowly sipping his hot chocolate and looking over at me in the dim light, “What did you want to talk about?”
I take a breath before answering, “Why did you do that?”
His eyebrows furrow, “Do what?”
I give him a knowing look and he looks away with a smile in response which drops quickly when thoughts of Cormac come back in his mind. “Guy’s a git. Doesn’t deserve you.” He says plainly bringing the cup to his lips again. I look at him for a minute, observing his long eyelashes and soft skin and look away just when he looks at me.
“Have you got a date to the ball yet?” He says in the comfortable silence.
I look back at him getting lost for a moment in his soft blue eyes. I shake my head in response.
He nods, looking down before downing the rest of his hot chocolate and standing up.
He reaches out a hand towards me and pulls me up from my place on the stairs and says, “Would you go with me if I asked?”
I look up at his eyes once again, seeing a hint of fear behind the blue, “If you asked dickhead.”
He laughs at this, nods and kisses me on the cheek before leaving.
“See you later star.”
“Star?” I say in question, my cheeks burning from his touch.
He doesn’t say a word or turn around, but simply holds out his middle finger, flipping me off which confuses me more until I see the silver ring I made him resting at the bottom of it.
I smile to myself as he walks away, leaving my face flushed and heart swollen.
What am I getting myself into.

He’d been calling Evan his boyfriend in his head for the last month. He knew they hadn’t talked about it, but considering how any time his shift ended in time for dinner he headed over to Evan’s and how his schedule had started to revolve around being available to take him to his PT appointments, it wasn’t without some merit.
So, when one of the hikers they rescued started to flirt with him, Tommy couldn’t help but just shake his head.
“Sorry. I’m actually taken.”
“Figures.”
It was once they were back at the station that Melton turned to him. “Taken, eh? So are you lying to the people that hit on you now?”
“Not lying,” Tommy said. “I am dating someone.”
“I thought you’d given up dating.”
“I had,” Tommy said. “But I met someone and he’s pretty great. Going to see him tonight, actually.”
“I guess you have looked happier lately, Kinard,” Melton said. “Thought it was just about getting back here, but I guess it wasn’t just that.”
Tommy shrugged his shoulders. When their shift ended, he didn’t even bother heading home and instead went straight to Evan’s apartment. When he knocked on the door, he was surprised to see Maddie. That was another thing they hadn’t talked about, even though he was pretty sure that Evan’s physical therapist had made a comment or two about them and Evan hadn’t refuted it.
“Oh,” she said. “Hi, Tommy. Buck, your boyfriend’s here!” She called the last over her shoulder.
Tommy froze. Maddie smiled at him and stepped out of the way and let Tommy in. It looked a little bit chaotic in Evan’s apartment and he didn’t see Evan anywhere.
“What’s happening here?”
“Just a bit of rearranging,” Maddie said.
He spotted Evan walking down the stairs and smiled, stepping towards the stairs to meet him at the bottom.
“So, boyfriend?” he asked.
Evan’s cheeks were pink, but he was smiling. “Guess so.”
“Guess that means we’re on the same page,” Tommy replied.
Tommy pressed their lips together in a quick kiss, aware that Evan’s sister was somewhere in the apartment.
“Where can I help?”
They hadn’t had concrete plans for the night. Tommy had envisioned taking Evan out for dinner maybe close to the beach so they could go and walk on the sand. He didn’t mind that it had turned into getting Evan’s apartment back to how it used to be before he needed to sleep on the first floor. Between the three of them they got the couch back down and the bed back up. Seeing Evan moving up and down the stairs without complaint and even lifting furniture helped to cement how well he’d healed up.
Afterwards, they had dinner with Maddie and Tommy got to know her a little better. In all the time since Evan was hurt, he’d only really seen her in passing. He knew a little about her, but not much, and most of it came from a fact dropped here or there from Evan.
“So, you used to be a nurse?” Tommy double checked.
“It was kinda inevitable with how often I was cleaning up this one’s scrapes and bruises,” she said pointing at Evan.
Evan just shrugged his shoulders with a big grin on his face.
“And Doug,” Evan said, making a face.
Tommy had no idea who Doug was, but he didn’t pry.
Maddie nodded. “That was a factor. Either way, I always liked it.”
“Ever think of going back to it?”
“I did, but being a dispatcher is rewarding in its own ways. Hard too, sometimes, but I know I make a difference and that’s all that matters.”
The topic changed to Evan’s plans once the doctors officially cleared him.
“I still think you’re trying to get back too early,” Maddie said. “Getting around and going up and down stairs is not the same as the level of physicality involved in your job. I’m right, aren’t I, Tommy?”
“I’ve been working out too without any problems,” Evan interjected.
Maddie looked to Tommy.
Tommy lifted his hands. “I think if his doctors have said he’s cleared and the department says he’s good to go that should be that.”
“Thank you,” Evan said.
“I just don’t want you to push yourself,” Maddie said.
Evan gave a nod. “I know. And I’m not, I’m ready.”
When she left, Maddie gave Evan and then Tommy a hug.
“She’s not wrong,” Tommy said, carefully as soon as the door was closed. “There’s no rush for you to get back to work. Your job will be there waiting.”
Evan let Tommy lead him to the living room and to the newly returned couch. They sat down and Evan immediately crowded into Tommy’s space. Tommy wrapped an arm around him, bringing him even closer.
“Logically, that makes sense, but I just need to get back to where I belong. I know you get that.”
Tommy nodded slowly. He kissed the side of Evan’s head, breathed him in.
“It’s like when you were sent back to the 118. You weren’t where you belonged, not really.”
Tommy hummed. “I was, I think. Met you, didn’t I?”
“Somehow, I think that would have happened regardless at some point, don’t you?”
Tommy didn’t believe in fate or any of that type of thing and yet there was something about Evan that told him that yes they would have met eventually. On that he and Evan could agree.
“Sure,” he said. “So, I didn’t tell you what happened that put me back at the 118, did I?” Tommy asked.
In all the time that they had spent together, Tommy had never brought it up, but he wanted Evan to know about it.
“No. You didn’t. And you don’t have to if you don’t—”
Tommy’s hand reached for his, twinning their fingers. “I want you to know.”
“Okay,” Evan said. “What happened?”
Tommy didn’t respond at once. The whole incident was very much still forefront in his mind even though it had been months since it happened. It had begun at the start of his shift when Tommy arrived to find out that Melton was out with a stomach virus and that Fielding’s wife had gone into labor. Tommy didn’t really mind working with other aeromedics or pilots, but it did mean that some of the ease of his day was gone.
The first few calls of the day hadn’t been much trouble. They were run of the mill. It was when they got called out to a car accident that it got a little interesting.
“Car accident,” Evan said, “was it a bad one?”
“Yeah, I mean, I’m not usually called out for anything minor. The guy we were transporting was young in his early twenties. He was in a flipped car and he had a collapsed lung on top of a possible spinal injury. Firefighters on the scene had already extricated him. We were just there for transport. His father was in the car with him, but he came out of it with bumps and bruises and they had already ruled out a concussion. It would have been easier if he had one.”
Evan was listening intently and after taking a breath, Tommy continued, “Walsh was the aeromedic with me. I went out to help him load the patient on and the father was already acting strange. When the kid started to come to as we loaded him, he didn’t act like a worried parent.”
“What did he act like?” Evan asked.
He’d berated the kid. As far as Tommy had been able to tell the kid hadn’t even been at fault for the accident, but the father was acting like he was. Nothing about his wording spoke to worry or concern for if his kid might make it. Tommy had tried to ask him to stop bothering his kid, but the father didn’t stop and Walsh had done nothing.
“We didn’t have time to waste,” Tommy told Evan. “So, I went and got ready for us to fly out. Walsh had the kid in hand so I wasn’t concerned about that and the father was in the helicopter. We just got in the air and that was when the dad started on a rant—”
Tommy could still remember it clearly, had felt all of it down to his bones and maybe it was his own parental trauma, but no kid should have had to hear their parent say anything, not especially during such a situation.
He repeated a bit of it for Evan. “It was transphobic. Things like you’re a girl…see you can’t even drive just like any other girl. Lying to yourself saying you’re a boy. Calling the boy’s choices a mistake.”
“Oh,” Evan said.
“Yeah, so then Walsh started asking questions and I figured he’d try to diffuse the situation.”
“That’s not what happened, is it?” Evan asked.
“No. For one thing Walsh started talking about the kid like he was a girl. I figured okay maybe he’s trying to connect with the guy and calm him down, but then it just kept getting worse and I realized that Walsh agreed with the guy and I didn’t know if that was going to hurt the care that Walsh gave the kid.”
“You said something, didn’t you?”
“Yes. Of course, I did. I told Walsh off for misgendering the patient and that he needed to stop and focus on making sure he made it to the hospital. Kid was in and out of it, probably had to be so scared and if he could hear them…he didn’t need that on top of everything else.”
Tommy hadn’t realized that it would make it worse.
“That fired up the dad who started in on people like me. Liberals and the agenda thing and who knows what else he said. Walsh then decided to tell him that I’m gay as if to give him an excuse for my views or something.”
Tommy remembered how he had gone cold. He remembered how his body had frozen in the pilot’s chair and how he’d tried his best to just focus on flying. It wasn’t that he wasn’t out as much as that Walsh had no right to just say it especially to someone that would certainly have a problem with it. Tommy pushed all his feelings aside to do the job. The faster they got to the hospital the better. He spent the first part of the flight trying his best to ignore them and wishing he could shut off the comms.
“It’s like he was trying to find something wrong with me aside from what he already saw as wrong,” Tommy said. “I should never have answered back, but it was getting to me and I snapped.”
“Oh, Tommy,” Evan said and he squeezed Tommy’s hand.
Tommy had heard so much of it before. Aimed at him and not aimed at him alike. He’d worked with some bigoted guys in the Army and he’d been a firefighter under Gerrard. He’d long learned how to be professional and push it aside and do the job. This guy was just…he reminded Tommy of his own father and it didn’t help that this guy’s kid was severely injured but he was focused on being a bigot instead. Walsh making a point to agree with the father was the thing that drove him over the edge probably.
“We made it to the hospital,” Tommy said. “I was…I was so angry, Evan. I went around to help Walsh with the patient and the father got in my face almost immediately and started spewing so much hate that I wanted nothing more than to take a punch at him.”
“You didn’t, did you?”
“No,” Tommy said. “He didn’t like that I ignored him. Tried to punch me instead when I went to help transfer the patient. He missed, luckily. One of the doctors that came out to meet us grabbed him and pulled him away and even then he tried to come back at me and he was yelling all kinds of things. Walsh was still talking to the other doctors and I just…I just got back on the helicopter and left.”
Evan burst into laughter. “Sorry…I just, I’m picturing it. You just flew away?”
Not his finest moment. Not the best reaction to the situation. Tommy didn’t actually regret it. He didn’t know how a flight back with Walsh would have gone, not with Walsh making excuses or trying to explain himself. Lying.
“What happened next?” Evan asked.
“Well I didn’t fly back to Harbor,” Tommy said.
That was his biggest mistake. He’d been so heated and he hadn’t even really known what he was doing. His fuel tank was full and he had enough presence of mind to communicate with air control. Tommy had felt better after flying for a bit and then, he returned back to Harbor.
“Where did you go?”
“I just flew around. Took my time getting back. Too long, and I ignored the calls from my Captain. I was so dumb, Evan.
“What, uh, what happened next?”
“I flew back, landed where I was supposed to. They were all waiting for me. Walsh. Captain Reid. Chief Alonzo. Before I got out of the helicopter I was so sure I had just lost my job.”
“But you didn’t,” Evan said.
“I didn’t,” he confirmed.
It had felt like it, though. He remembered the way that the Chief had looked at him, like he was just one more problem he could do without. If it wasn’t for Captain Reid, Tommy was sure things wouldn’t have gone the way they did…which didn’t mean that Tommy hadn’t found the punishment unfair.
Walsh had tried to put it all on Tommy, to paint him as unprofessional and biased. Discriminatory. As if Tommy had refused to care for the patient or get him to the hospital as quickly as he could. As if Tommy had been the one misgendering the patient and outing a coworker. As if Tommy had allowed his bigoted views to make an already difficult situation worse.
“And what happed to that guy?” Evan asked.
“I think they made him take on some extra cleaning duties. They grounded me. I guess the doctor that saw it all back at the hospital called the Chief and it did clear me a bit, but they didn’t take too well to taking off with department property.”
Evan chuckled. “Yeah, they never do.”
Tommy immediately looked at him. “Evan, what—”
“That’s a story for another day,” Evan said. “So that’s why the Chief decided you could be the interim Captain?”
“Pretty much. Honestly, I think he thought I wouldn’t be able to handle it. Maybe saw it as a bigger punishment. I don’t know.”
Captain Reid had put in a good word too, he knew. Had pointed out that it would be good if Tommy and Walsh were not working at the same station for a time.
“How has it been with that guy now?” Evan asked.
“Walsh? He was moved to another shift so we rarely cross paths.”
That had been a bit of a revelation to Tommy when he returned to work. Apparently, he hadn’t taken it too well, but Captain Reid had put his foot down.
“Wow,” Evan said. “I don’t know if I was expecting that.”
“It doesn’t really put me in a good light,” Tommy said. “I just…flying is so freeing to me. Not being able to do it was difficult, so I get how much you long to go back to your job, but it will feel amazing once you do get back to it and you will. Maddie isn’t wrong about taking all the time that you need. And look…for me it kinda led me to you, so it wasn’t all bad.”
“And if I say I’m ready now?” Evan asked, turning his face so that he could look directly at Tommy.
“Then you are,” Tommy said.
—
Buck would never admit it, but one of the reasons that he’d been so insistent on putting his bed back up in the loft was that it might mean he could get Tommy on the couch for a cuddle and maybe some making out because kissing Tommy was becoming an addiction and Buck wanted it to progress to more than that. Tommy was holding back and Buck knew it was for his sake, he also knew that he couldn’t wait any longer.
The bed…it created a few problems in that it felt like putting pressure on both of them and so they had been hyper aware whenever they were on it together. It also reminded Buck of the very reason for why it was in his living room in the first place and that was the unsexiest thing in the world.
He was ready for his life to get back to normal and that meant his couch where it belonged and his bed in his bedroom and it also meant that Buck was also ready to take the next natural step with his boyfriend. Tommy was just making it kinda difficult because he seemed to pull away whenever Buck was even thinking about doing anything past kissing.
Buck didn’t know if it was because of his leg or if Tommy had it in his mind that Buck wasn’t ready, but he was getting tired of it, and maybe a bit horny about it too. Could anyone blame him, Tommy was way too hot for his own good.
It was a few days before Buck needed to go in for his recertification and he was more than happy with what the doctors had all said at his last visit. Yes he might still experience some leg cramps and the screws wouldn’t be coming out just yet, but Buck could return to normal activity. For him, normal activity was firefighting. He’d even started going back to his gym and he wasn’t as out of shape as he’d thought. That was of course down to the PT.
He and Tommy had another date as soon as Tommy got off shift. Buck had no idea what Tommy had planned, seeing as all he’d been told was to wait for Tommy to pick him up. Buck was hoping that whatever the date entailed, it might lead to the two of them getting a bit more physical.
When Tommy knocked on his door, Buck rushed to open it.
“You look excited,” Tommy said.
“And you look really good,” Buck responded
“You don’t look too bad yourself,” Tommy said and stepped into Buck’s space, leaning in to kiss him.
The door closed behind them and Buck sighed against Tommy, slanting their lips together again and letting the moment linger until Tommy was taking a step back and eyeing him.
“Are you ready to go?”
“Yeah. Are you going to tell me where we’re going?”
“You’ll find out soon enough. Come on.”
Tommy followed him out the door and took Buck’s hand. Buck had never known how much he loved holding someone’s hand before Tommy and he was reluctant to let him go when they made it to his car. It meant that Tommy reeled him into his arms for a kiss that left Buck wanting to just drag Tommy back up to his apartment. He only just managed to tear himself away.
“You’re taking me up in a helicopter,” Buck said almost half an hour later as Tommy pulled into Harbor.
“I did promise,” Tommy said.
Tommy gave him a small tour of his workplace. Buck got a kick out of noticing the differences even though the 217 did still have their own engine and ladder truck. Still, it was impressive. He even got a quick look at the helicopters inside the hangar and they watched when a call came in and a team of three ran towards one of the helicopters sitting out and ready. Then, Tommy led him out to where the helicopter waited for them.
The thing about Tommy was that there was little he could do that Buck didn’t find hot. His confidence as he got them ready to fly left Buck at a loss for words and then they were up in the air and it was all due to Tommy. It was almost hard to look away from him and actually take in the view, but Buck forced himself to when Tommy pointed something out for him to see.
The most amazing thing by far was just how far and wide Buck could see. The day was clear and they were flying below the few clouds that did exist. LA looked different from above and Buck loved it. He loved getting a different perspective to a place that he knew so well.
“This is amazing,” Buck said.
“Yeah?”
Tommy grinned at him. He looked gorgeous in that moment between his smile and the way that the headset sat on his curls. His eyes crinkled and his hands were on the controls. The cyclic, Tommy had called it.
They went by the beaches, looked down at the crowds of people sunbathing or surfing out on the water. It had been way too long since Buck had gone to the beach. He just had never really found the time and then after the accident the priority was getting back to work.
Buck had no idea how long they were up in the air, but they returned to Harbor and Buck could barely contain the urge to kiss Tommy. It really was bad how much he wanted him. As soon as they were securely on the ground and Tommy was slipping the headset off, Buck unbuckled himself and then grabbed at Tommy, hands sliding to cradle his face and then he planted his lips on Tommy. Tommy made a noise into the kiss, but he kissed back just as eager until he pushed Buck back.
“Evan, we can’t just stay in here.”
“Why not?” Buck asked, going for another kiss.
“Because I only booked the helicopter for an hour.”
Buck groaned, but followed Tommy’s lead and opened the door. He got down slowly and wasn’t surprised when Tommy met him. He wrapped an arm around Buck’s shoulders, bringing him into his body.
“Tell me you’ll take me up there again, one day,” Buck said.
“I could even fly us somewhere,” Tommy said. “We’ll plan it out. Maybe San Francisco or Vegas. Napa.”
“Yes,” Buck said at once. “Do you know how good you look in the pilot’s seat?”
“Not as good as you looked sitting next to me,” Tommy said.
“Only one of us was doing the flying,” Buck pointed out.
“Hmm, nothing says you can’t learn. I could give you lessons.”
Buck somehow didn’t think he would learn much of anything if Tommy was involved. He was too distracting and Buck was sure it wasn’t something that would change anytime soon.
“Did you get us a reservation anywhere?” Buck asked.
“No. Figured we’d play it by ear.”
Buck smiled. “Well, then, Mr. Pilot, I think we can order in once we get back to my place. I figure we’ll find something to do there…some other lessons that you might need to give me.”
“Oh, is that so?” Tommy asked.
Buck could only nod.

Hi beautiful
Can you please write a pedro×reader where they are fighting really seriously and suddenly kisses the reader and things get spicy...
And acn you please write it long?
I am in this phase where I see Pedro has a dad. So I’m going to write the plot I have in mind, that thank god corresponds to this.
I hope it was long enough! I don’t think I have ever written something that long!
Warnings: swearing, hand job, unprotected sex
Minors DNI
——————————————————————————
Having a personal life in the middle of a social career is not easy. Even difficult. Whatever you do, whatever you say, you are always watched, everything gets twisted, and it’s just.. drama. That’s why you and Pedro, when you finally started dating, decided to stay private. And that’s still been going on after all these years.
Let’s settle everything. You’ve been dating Pedro for four years. You met through a mutual friend, who was your roommate. You immediately had a good chemistry, but nothing ever happened. No one could deny that there wasn’t any tension, but you both stayed friend for at least a year before something happened.
Neither of you planned that infamous night where everything went down (literally). You had a nice little party at your place, I mean, it was just a few friends. One too many drinks and.. yes. You ended up having sex. One super great night that both of you remembered and liked very much. That’s why you kept doing it. You both decided to become friends with benefits, and it was going on good! Buuuut it only lasted a month. And, much to your surprise, it wasn’t because of you. Pedro caved. If it hadn’t been him, you would have given in shortly after.
So you started dating. And it’s been amazing. You’ve been having the greatest time of your life. You both handle very well the distance, keeping communicating a lot, sometimes visiting each other on either sets. And let’s not forget that you are having the best sex ever. You’re good, he’s good, together you make the best. And it went on. A year. And a second year. Which brings us to some defining moments. Because yes there were two very close.
The first one is Pedro proposing. Two years in the relationship and your love is only growing even more. You are obsessed with each other, you’re literally never felt that before. And Pedro decided to lock this, making it official. You were in Morocco. Pedro loved it so much when he filmed gladiator that he wanted to show you. He had planned everything. He rented a magnificent like little palace for your trip, with this amazing view on the ocean. As he knows you absolutely love sunsets, and arranged a little romantic dinner on the beach, and proposed when the sunset was at its peak.
Unfortunately the fantasy was cut short, you had to go back in reality, and go back to work. Two weeks after coming back, you started to get sick. You had nausea, morning sickness, and you were extremely tired. When you saw it wasn’t going away, you went to see your doctor. Surprise! You’re pregnant. Big news. How to tell Pedro? He proposed two weeks ago, with you careers, the age gap, and the fact that neither of you actually want kids, how could you drop the news?
You decided to be direct. Communication was one of the best thing in your relationship. You could talk about everything, either serious or not. You both said things to each other that neither of you had told before. He was home before you, so it all happened very quick. You didn’t have time to think. When he asked about your doctor’s appointment, you dropped the bomb.
Pedro was very comprehensive but it has been a lot on him. At his age, having a kid, it’s not easy. Even if he’s great and would actually love the idea. But it involved so many things. Both of your careers, the living situation, handling the media parts. And after listing the pros and cons, you made this huge decision.
To your next appointment, you found out you were two months pregnant. The baby’s gender couldn’t be determined yet. It has been a lot of anxiety on the both of you as this was unexpected, but since you decided to keep it, you’ve actually both been pretty excited. Pedro was already thinking about names. But there was one thing you couldn’t stop thinking: the media.
It has been taboo to talk about it actually. You managed to keep it together after two years of dating, only facing some rumors, but nothing more since neither of you ever denied or confirmed anything. You were even playing with it, going out in town with some friends and being very close to some, dodging paparazzi, you were into it. But now it was getting more complicated, you were adding a baby. Since no one knew you were together, how could you pop out one day either pregnant or with a baby in your arms?
You had lots of arguments, but decided to worry about it when the baby was born. So you went awol during your pregnancy. You were posting pictures here and there, some stories; making sure no one could see the rest of your body. And it was fun, all this secrecy.
Month number seven: you couldn’t take it anymore. You wanted to know the gender of the baby. You managed to go for all this time since at every sonogram the baby was turned in a way that you couldn’t see, but it finally happened at your monthly check up. It’s a girl! Oh the look on Pedro’s face. He lit up. Excitement took over.
You decided that you wanted your kid to grow up in the countryside and not closed in between four walls in an apartment, so you started to create and build your own house. Talking about the wolf, baby girl decided to show up two weeks late, and was born at 1:57am on the 31st of July at home. And there she was, Sofia Veronica Y/l/n Pascal. Healthy baby. You’ve both been filled with nothing but happiness. No regrets whatsoever, even when she wakes up at night crying.
Sofia is two years old, currently running in the house with her teddy bear in her arms, probably having some sort of runaway. You’re on the couch, on your phone, scrolling on Instagram. Pedro is in the kitchen drinking his coffee, leaning against the counter, pretending to almost get hit by Sofia when she runs past him. Everything was peaceful, a beautiful sunny day as the house filled with laughter, up until you saw this picture of a famous friend of yours, at Disneyland with their kids. You sighed.
“Pedro” you said slowly turning towards him. He hummed, his eyes following your daughter. “Why don’t we go somewhere with Sofia?”
“What do you mean?”
“Like a park or something” he finally looked at you, sipping from his coffee.
“You know we can’t”
“I know, but maybe this one time we could?” He walked to the counter closer to you.
“Cariño if you want to go with her you can”
“I want to go together, as a family” you sat up, facing him entirely
“We agreed to this” he started to sound dry
“And I’m changing my mind”
“You can’t just do that”
“Why not?” He didn’t say anything “please express yourself, tell me why not” you got up
“We can’t risk it, for her sake” he said pointing to Sofia, now looking at the both of you before starting to run again.
“I dont think there’s anything to risk”
“Really? Really? We’re going into this again?” He started to raise his voice
“Yes. I think we should. Because I think it’s going insane” he scoffed “for fuck sake’s, we’re taking turns going outside with her, and we they see you with her you just pretend she’s your niece or something” he kept shaking his head
“We need to keep her privacy”
“It doesn’t mean we can’t do anything together!” You walked a bit closer to him “Jesus! She’s two years old and we never took her to a fun fair or something!”
“She’s two, she won’t remember anything”
“Oh my fucking god. I cannot believe it.” You lower your voice a bit “it’s not about remembering, it’s about being a fucking family. She needs to see the world, with us, to learn!”
“And what about the paparazzi? Oh no wait you’re right. She’ll learn how to be fucking harassed, having no privacy, being followed at her every movement, being talked about and shamed on the internet”
“Are you scared for her or for yourself?” He stopped and stared at you “that’s what I thought” you said going back to the couch
“Oh don’t twist it, it’s not about me it’s about her”
“Oh no it’s about us, and how you don’t want you career to be over just because I’m twenty years younger than you and that you got a fucking child with me” you sat down on the couch, not facing him anymore. You couldn’t take it anymore. Tears were starting to form under your eyes. You heard Pedro walk to you.
“Are you really thinking that?” He was now standing in front of the couch
“It doesn’t matter that’s how they’re going to see it” you crossed your arms, looking on your left outside.
“That’s not true”
“Then what is it? Why can’t we take a walk outside, the three of us, as a family? We chose to handle our careers and a child. We knew the risks, we can’t just avoid them” you stood up.
“She’s too young for that, maybe when she’s older!” And it went back to where it started, like he didn’t listen.
“So what, in the mean time she stays inside the house until she’s at least 10? So what, she doesn’t go to school? I bet you didn’t even think about-” Pedro stepped closer to you and in a sudden move kissed you, putting both his hands on your face. After a few seconds he pulled away
“Can we just settle down for a minute?” He softly asked. Still processing what just happened, you nodded. He kissed you again, this time more gently. You both gave in, keeping kissing each other more and more passionately by the second, until Sofia screamed. You both turned your heads to look at her. She was standing next to the couch, with a big smile. You both smiled at her, getting calmed just by looking at her.
“Young lady, isn’t it time for your nap?” She shook her head. You looked at your watch. “I think it is!” You started to move but Pedro stopped you.
“I’ll do it, stay here” he kissed your forehead, and chased Sofia who didn’t want to go the bed. Twenty minutes later he was back. “She fell asleep almost right away” he chuckled.
“I’m not surprised, she’s been running around for a while” you were sitting on the couch, and Pedro sat next to you.
“So.. where we were” he said, hand on your thigh, sending a wave of shivers down to your core. But you decided to ignore for now. You were mad, you had a point to make, you couldn’t think about this now.
“We need to do something, like literally, we can’t stay hidden like that”
“I know but I don’t want her to be traumatized or something”
“But maybe nothing will happen?” You looked at each other. “The only time we got very close to them it’s only when we go to restaurants at night. We just.. won’t do that”
“I don’t know..”
“Pedro we need to do it”
“I need to think about it”
“We just did” you were starting to get impatient again
“Y/n”
“Let’s just try!” He didn’t say anything. “Or let’s make an official statement, like we publish something on Instagram or something”
“We need to talk to our publicist first” you sight
“Come on..” you got up “I just want to do something spontaneous for once, don’t you understand?”
“I do! But we knew what we were getting into in the first place!” You sighed, looking at him.
“I don’t even know why we keep arguing honestly” you shook you arms. Pedro just stared at you, then suddenly he got up and kissed you roughly. “Pedro..” you said in between kisses.
“Tomorrow we’ll go out okay?” He said, leaning his head against yours. You were staring at his lips, a little out of breath.
“You sure?”
“Yes” you looked at each other before kissing him more passionately this time. His hands travelled for your face this your waist as he brought you closer to him. “I don’t want to lose you because of some shit”
“You’re not losing me” you said, caressing his face. You kissed him softly. He started to step back towards the couch, pulling you in with him. He sat down on the couch, grabbed your thighs pulling you on top of him. “We’re going to get through this you know, we just need to find something that we both agree on” you said
“I know I know” he nodded, his hands going up and down on your thighs. You went for another kiss that ended sloppier and lasted longer. His hands got up on your waist and started to lift your shirt which ended somewhere in the living room, leaving your chest exposed.
Pedro got away from you lips, kissing your jaw, your neck, and ended on your breasts. The feeling of his touch, his lips on you made you shiver. Moans were escaping your mouth and so was Pedro. He was humming against your skin, making vibrations that were turning you on too much. You were growing impatient.
“Pedro please” you begged for more. He pulled away, looking at you, your lips. He took off his shirt and pulled you in for another kiss. The tension was very sensual now. You weren’t feeling the anger anymore. The frustration was gone within seconds. You started to grind on him was you were eager to feel him. Pedro groaned in response.
He pulled you up and laid you down on the couch, taking your shorts and underwear off at the same time. He came back up leaving trails of kisses on your thighs, going left and right, teasing you more. He put his hand down your core and started massaging your clit making you gasp.
“Oh yes” you managed to say, moving your hips to follow the movements of Pedro’s hand between your legs. Your back was arching to the many feelings you were having. He shifter his hand, entering one then two fingers you, leaving his thumb to move on your clitoris. “Pedro” It wasn’t enough, you wanted more, you wanted feel him inside you. But it was hard to talk.
“Talk to me” he said kissing your stomach
“I-I want you”
“I’m right here” you chuckled “tell me what you want” he said accelerating his movements.
“You- I- oh my god” he was now kissing your neck again. Your hands were in his hair. “I want you inside me”
“That’s my girl” he said now looking at you, smirking. You pulled him in for a languorous kiss, as your hands were now trying to pull his pants and boxers down, squeezing is ass at the same time. You earned a moan from him. He pulled away as your orgasm was rising.
You watched him move, sit down on the couch then take his clothes off, before coming back closer to you. He kissed you again as he pressed himself against you, feeling his cock against your heated clit. You were both moaning in the kiss. You pushed him away a bit, lowering your hand to his cock and started to tease him a bit, getting him worked up too.
He quickly couldn’t take it, so he grabbed your hand and moved it away as he centered himself to your entrance and slowly and surely entered you. He started with a slow pace, taking his time. His right hand went back to your clit as he started go a little bit faster. You were trying to contain your screams as you were reaching your climax, but you couldn’t anymore. It was so intense that none of you could form any sentences. He started to slow down a bit, before pulling out and coming on your stomach, his hand still working on you to get you to your orgasm.
Both panting, you took your right hand to your stomach and with one finger you wiped his cum before licking everything. Pedro watched you very closely. Still hovering over you, he kissed you passionately, then he kissed your forehead before leaning on top of you. You were caressing his hair and back softly while his hands we were resting on your waist.
“I love you so much” he said, breaking the silent
“I love you more”
You laid there for a while just resting, until Sofia woke up. Pedro went to get her, change her and everything. When he came back in the living room again, he was holding a bag in his hand.
“What is this for?” You asked as you put your phone away
“Spontaneity” you frowned, confused
“Care to explain?”
“There’s a small park not far from here, I thought that.. maybe we could go?”
“Are you serious?” You stood up
“Yes. It’s small but-”
“No it’s great! Let’s start small!” You were excited. You hugged him tight. “Thank you so much” he kissed your head, then you both left to the park with your daughter.

Dress For The Job
Pairing: Din Djarin x gn!reader
Word count: 1.6k
Summary: You're used as bait during a mission on Nevarro. Din isn't pleased with the situation
Warnings: angst mixed with a good amount of fluff, gender neutral reader but reader wears a dress, married couple, hardcore flirting, badass reader, his first name is Din, canon-typical violence, implications to sexy times.
Nevarro's typically mellow near midday, more accustomed to the elderly citizens dawdling through the markets, reminiscing on their younger years as the wind blows a faint breeze and the local bakeries flood the marketplace with their fresh aromas.
According to Greef, pirates have been stealing from the marketplace, breaking into people's homes and ransacking them. There have been three reported deaths in the last two months.
That's where you and Din come in. You've both been hired to track down any pirates and turn them in.
That was two weeks ago. When you and Din dropped off Grogu on Tatooine with Peli, you both promised to be back in a few days.
A few days, four at most.
Not two weeks.
You're definitely paying a hefty interest rate when you do pick up the kid. It's a good thing Greef is willing to pay you handsomely.
You could tell the High Magistrate was getting antsy the longer the pirates roamed Navarro. Din wasn't much better. During the days he would be tracking every lead possible, during the nights you would hold him in your arms and tell him to breathe.
You weren't much better, really. There's this frustration that's humming through your body. An anger that's boiling in your veins the longer you're away from Grogu.
Last night was the hardest night you've had in a while. Din had finally given up on his newest dead end lead and crawled into bed with you. He pulled you against his chest, which fell and raised with each unsteady breath. He missed Grogu and the cracks in his voice as he spoke had you crying into his chest, his own tears falling into your hair.
Maybe that's why you had agreed to Greef's newest plan the next morning without a second thought.
Under the hot sun, warmth seeping into your black shirt, you're definitely starting to regret saying yes. Kicking a small stone you mumbled under your breath, "Standing around waiting to get kidnapped. Not exactly the highlight of my life."
Through your earpiece Din huffed, definitely still displeased with this plan, "Just stay focused, Greef said they should be here today."
"They better be, I'm not sweating through my good shirt for nothing." You sighed, armpits already feeling sticky, "I've never been used as bait before. Am I doing a good job?"
Din doesn't answer. Which isn't a surprise. He's been ignoring you since you took Greef's side and stripped yourself bare of all weapons but one to stand in the middle of the marketplace to be discovered by a group of pirates who've already murdered three people.
Okay, putting it that way does make Din's reaction understandable. Greef had worded it better.
"Mando, it's going to be okay, I promise. Besides I'm armed and you're only a few blocks away if it goes south."
"I know, cyare, but that doesn't mean I have to be happy that my riduur decided to put themself in a dangerous position."
You want to point out that he did the same thing back on Tatooine cycles ago. Played bait for Cobb Vanth. You're not going to though, not when his breathing is heavy through the earpiece like it's taking everything in him to remember how to take in a steady breath.
You quickly glance over to where he's hidden from view a few rooftops over. You sent him a look, one that reassures him that you'll take every safe precaution available.
You're not offended by the way your husband is acting like you can't handle yourself. You both know you can, you've done it dozens of times before. It's just his nature to worry; about you, about Grogu, about his friends.
You start to lazily stroll through the marketplace, keeping yourself in Din's line of sight as much as possible.
You've kept the line open – Din doing the same on his end – and you do your best to minimise your lip movement when you speak, "I was thinking maybe after this we could relax on Sorgan for a couple weeks. That'll be nice, wouldn't it?"
"Focus."
You rolled your eyes at that, "We haven't been back there since our honeymoon, or at least our version of a honeymoon. Most couples don't normally fight off raiders during their romantic getaways."
There's a soft chuckle from Din's end, "When have we ever fit into the category of normal?"
"I still have my wedding dress," You commented, enjoying the way his breath hitched at it, "It's been a few years but I'd imagine I could still fit into it."
"Cyare."
You grinned at his warning, you know he's recalling the moment he first saw you in the dress, "Like you haven't thought about it before. We share the same bed and you occasionally mumble in your sleep."
"I do not, i- it doesn't matter, please just focus–" There's a second of silence, then your name and a string of curse words fell from his lips, "They're here."
Your chest tightened. It doesn't matter how long you've been chasing down bounties, there's always a moment of fear that settles in your bones.
"Where?"
"South entrance. Three males, all human, all armed."
Rocks crunch underneath your heel as you sharply turn to face south, "Three? Huh, I figured there would be more, I'm kind of disappointed."
"Considering it's just you down there only armed with a blade, three is too damn many."
For a second you wish you could pull him into your arms, tell him it's okay with delicate touches. You can't though, so you settled on a soft 'I love you' and tried to gain the attention of the three men.
"I'm not drawing their attention." You're getting frustrated. Eyeing the closest clothing booth, an idea sprung to life, "I need to stand out more."
Grabbing a dress to change into, you head into the small fresher. You'll pay for the dress later, right now you're on a time limit.
"What are you doing? I don't have eyes on you." Din's voice is octave higher, a clear sign that he is beginning to panic.
"I don't think I'm in much danger inside the fresher, honey."
The dress is a little complicated to put on, multiple straps that seemingly do nothing functional, but it's definitely flattering on you. It highlights curves you didn't even realise you have.
"Yeah, because pirates are known for their decency." Din grunted, eyes scanning every little crook and nanny around the small fresher, "What did you even get anyway?"
"You'll see." You smirked to yourself. You're well aware you're attractive, Din tells you often, normally followed by a little worshipping, sometimes sexual, sometimes not.
The dress has a slit which makes the knife strapped to your thigh easier to grab if needed. Which you hope it isn't, you're not in the mood for things to get bloody.
With a quick glance in the mirror, chasing away any lumps in the dress' fabric, you swiftly exited the fresher. There's shocked sputtering coming from Din's side of the comm. Your heart fluttered happily, satisfied with his reaction. Probably more than you should be, but heck it's not every day you get to dress nicely.
When Din spoke again you could tell it's through clenched teeth, "What. Are. You. Wearing?"
"Oh, this old thing? It's just something I found." You smirked, sending a wink his way before sobering up, "I have eyes on them. I'm going to get their attention and try to lead them down a back alley."
Din sighed, shifting to allow his weapon to follow your pathway, "Please be careful. I'd rather not spend the night stitching you up."
You hummed and couldn't hold back one last teasing smirk, "Is there something else you'd rather be doing tonight?"
"Don't get stabbed and you'll find out."
You blushed, cheeks burning a pretty pink colour, "I'm holding you to that, babe."
Unfortunately for you, things did end up getting bloody. Fortunately for you, you didn't end up getting stabbed.
You dropped the last guy just as Din came barreling down the alley. You have your boot pressed against the pirate's chest underneath you, not that it was necessary since he's unconscious, and your knife is sliding back into its holster with a flick of your wrist.
You beam up at your husband, hand gesturing to the three unconscious men around you, "What do you think? Not bad huh?"
Din shook his head, voice almost urgent, "Are you hurt?"
"Not a drop of blood," You reassured him as you used the man underneath you to clean off the dirt on your boot before stepping back, "Might have some fancy bruises tomorrow morning but that's expected."
With a sigh, Din started gathering the men up for Greef to come deal with, "I'll apply some Bacta when we get back to the ship. I want to be gone by nightfall, I'm afraid Peli might file for adoption papers if we're not back soon."
She wouldn't but the thought of it made you laugh, "Hey she can have split custody if that means we can take a trip to Sorgan." You bumped your hip against Din's as you pass him, "How about you wait here for Greef and I'll go return this dress."
A hand quickly wrapped around your waist stopping you from leaving and your face is suddenly inches from Din's. Your husband kept a hand around the back of your waist as the other slowly trailed up your spine.
Your breath catches, pupils blown wide. Your both not normally one for public display of affection, but the way his helmet quickly fogs over at your warm breath has you not caring.
Finally his gloved hand reaches the top of your spine and your dress is yanked back, a quiet snapping sound hits your ears. You pulled back from his embrace with a frown.
Din brought his hand around and hanging from his thumb and index finger is a small cardboard rectangular object, "You can't return things without the tag."
You can't help but snort at his antics, "That's not how that works, babe."
Din shrugged, "Maybe not, but we have roughly thirteen hours before we touch down on Tatooine and I want to see how pretty that dress is all spread out on our bed."
And fuck, you just saved their planet, at the very least they owe you a dress.

You Can’t Escape Love
A Messy PipWen AU
Ch1 Chapter 2
Pip blushed as the small girl shook her hand, her cool fingers a surprise touch in the rising heat of the summer morning. She was always bumping into people when she took the dog out for a walk as despite her strength she gained from gym and swimming he could pull her over far too easily.
Wednesday was a very intense looking woman in pretty much every single way. Her black clothes stood out a mile in the pretty English village, residents more used to seeing floral dresses or colourful yoga leggings rather than the black jeans, DMs and oversized chunky hoody that Wednesday decided to wear that day.
Similarly her hair was as black as night, the long twin braids immaculately woven into what Pip was sure was hangman’s noose loops at their ends. Weird, different for sure, but in a surprisingly good way.
The most intense part of her was reserved for the girl herself, which would have been just as striking had she worn a pink dress. Her huge deep brown eyes seemed to bore directly into Pips soul, but the uneasy feeling this should have given Pip was thankfully easily offset by Wednesday’s beautiful freckles and dark, plush lips. There was no denying that she was beyond beautiful, so much so that Pip felt something she hadn’t ever before. It almost made her stomach turn the impact Wednesday had on her, she just wanted to pull her in close and, well, she didn’t know what else. It was like the feeling Cara had given her when she came out to Pip, but much stronger.
Wednesday was very different from Cara in another very important detail - she was short.
Very short.
Pip was the smallest out of her close knit friend group but Wednesday was another couple of inches shorter again. This didn’t seem to have any effect on her physical presence though, Pip thinking that this was not a girl to be crossed easily.
That didn’t mean she couldn’t be friendly.
“Lovely to meet you Wednesday and sorry again. I haven't seen you before are - hang on, are you the new owner of the Manor House?”
“I am.”
“That’s cool, errrr, you out for a walk?”
“I need coffee.”
Damn this girl is hard to talk to thought Pip. But maybe there was an opportunity.
“Why don’t I take you to get some from our own coffee shop, The Flicked Bean? We can get to know each other!” she asked, trying not to be too excited.
Wednesday appeared to blink - not something Pip would normally notice, but it suddenly occurred to her that Wednesday hadn’t blinked yet. That would explain the intense look in her eyes at least.
“I have not been to that establishment yet. It would be agreeable.”
“Ok let’s go then, come on, follow me!”
She grabbed Wednesday’s hand and pulled her off down the pavement. It wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do with her friends - she always held Cara’s hand, but as she looked at Wednesday she found the sullen girl to be looking down at their joined hands with a puzzled look on her face.
“Ooh sorry!” Pip blurted out, letting go immediately “force of habit there!”
Wednesday murmured something Pip couldn’t hear over the cars driving by and then immediately took Pip’s hand in her own again, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
“I am not averse to hand holding, in fact I have……missed it since I moved here.”
“That’s cool - how long have you been here now?”
“There months, four days and eighteen hours.” Wednesday replied flatly.
“Very precise. I like that. Your voice…. Sorry accent is really nice by the way. What part of the USA are you from?”
“New Jersey but my family descend from all over the world. Your accent is…… very charming.”
Pip felt another blush spread over her cheeks at Wednesdays compliment, the sudden warmth in the smaller girls voice unexpected.
“Thanks, it’s just me you know.”
At that moment they reached the cafe and Pip held the door open for Wednesday, who stepped inside and took a deep breath at the aromas swirling round the small establishment.
The cafe was empty, not surprising given the early hour of the day. Wednesday could immediately tell the coffee would be good from the distinct smell as she entered the door, opened for her very kindly by Pip. As Pip walked past her Wednesday caught a faint hint of her scent. It was……fresh. Very different from Enid, it made her think of outdoor line dried clothes and handmade soap.
A fresh start indeed…..
She gave her order to the barista and asked Pip what she would like.
“Just a cappuccino please - I’ll get it if you want.”
“That won’t be necessary. This is to say thankyou for recommending this establishment to me.”
“Oh ok, thanks Wednesday.”
Pip seemed nervous, but didn’t fidget and pace like Enid, instead she had a ‘rabbit caught in the headlights’ look about her. Her face was so still and patient, but even Wednesday could tell she needed to make some conversation before the whole situation became too awkward.
“So, what should I know about the people our age here?” she enquired, assuming Pip was the same age as her.
“Our age?” Pip asked, clearly confused “aren’t you older than me?”
“I am eighteen years of age.” Wednesday replied as she took the drinks and walked over to the darkest corner to sit in.
“Eighteen? Me too!” Pip replied, but then confusion moved across her face again. “How come you could buy such a big house at your age?”
“I earn my own money, easily enough on its own to buy a house here, although my father is better with real estate matters and brokered the deal on my behalf.”
Wednesday settled down into the corner seat, Pip sitting across from her, her elbows on the table leaning forward to speak to her.
“Wow, that’s amazing, what do you do?”
“I am a writer.”
Wednesday didn’t want to reveal which books she had published straight away but the excited look on Pip’s face meant she had made the necessary connection immediately. There was no escaping it, her books had been most popular in the UK out of any country and anyone who had been even near a bookshop would have read her name across a cover in the best seller section - her works had been at the top of those charts for nearly a year now.
“Hang on - are you THE Wednesday Addams? The Viper De La Muerte series?”
“Yes.”
“Oh wow, I love your books. Normally I’m into real crime books but yours are really good. Maybe a little gruesome in places but your writing is amazing.”
“That is kind of you to say. I don’t tend to meet my readers very often, I try to stay away from public events.”
“Is that why you moved here?”
“Partly, I needed somewhere to recover after….. recent events. I also wanted to find out more about the Andie Bell case which I understand was solved a few months ago by a young girl in the area. It is fascinating and I am wanting to know more.”
Wednesday noticed Pip looking down at her coffee as she finished speaking. Enid had taught her to recognise people’s emotions and react to them in a kind way, and what she had said had clearly hit a raw nerve.
“Have I misspoken? I apologise for any upset my words have caused you.”
Pip took a while to respond, Wednesday waiting patiently for her to lift those piercing blue eyes to meet her own again. When Pip did so, Wednesday could see she was upset, and almost ready to shed a tear.
“I-It was me who solved it.” Pip replied shakily, her voice quiet and timid. “But it was pretty hard on me, emotionally and….other ways.”
Wednesday pondered this. She could easily relate to this considering the Tyler problem she dealt with, which left her physically and mentally scarred for life. She decided she would try to show how they were both having to deal with post trauma stress by turning her palm over to show Pip.
“Pip, look at this.”
The ugly scar on her palm was still very much visible, the knife wound and burn marks from the crypt still rough and slightly red. Pip immediately took her hand - very gently - and stroked Wednesday's hand around the scar, being careful not to touch it directly. Her skin was warm and soft, and Wednesday did not recoil from her touch as she had eventually done with Enid.
“Oh my goodness Wednesday, that looks really awful, is it painful?l
“Only on cold days now, but it is still a reminder of what happened at the end of my own investigation. I paid the price for my search for the truth, but I don’t regret it. It came with more sacrifices than I ever expected, but it was the right thing to do. Would you say the same about your trials Pip?”
Pip looked deep into Wednesday's deep brown - nearly black eyes - and almost saw a reflection of herself. Wednesday was feeling so much and clearly struggled to come to terms with what had happened to her, just like her own personal journey.
She didn’t know if Wednesday wanted to talk about what had happened to her, but she could ask about another aspect of her trauma she suspected would be a shared experience.
“Yes, I don’t regret it, but I didn’t realise the devastating effect it would have on my life later on. The worst thing was that no-one understood how I felt, and I lost a few people as friends who just didn’t get it. I was forced to break from seeing them ‘cos it was too painful to hear their fake attempts at empathy. I’d seen too much, too young and I couldn’t cope, and they didn’t want to see that. I suppose I don’t blame them, they couldn’t ever know and I wouldn’t want them to really, but the pain of separation is still raw.”
Wednesday turned her hand over and lightly held Pip’s hand in hers. It was still cool to the touch but there was so much tenderness in the moment she barely noticed it. If anything it relaxed Pip, and she let out a long breath she didn’t know she was holding.
“Pip, I know.” Wednesday whispered as she squeezed Pip’s hand. A small smile developed on her, revealing small dimples and stretching those pillowy lips a little thinner. Somehow three words and that smile from Wednesday made her forget the trauma, and think of what might be, what happiness could feel like again. She placed her other hand on top of Wednesday and reflected the smile back without thinking about it.
“Thanks Wednesday. That means so much, you’ll never know how much.”
“Maybe you can show me another time Pip.”
“Maybe I will Miss Addams, as long as you are nothing like Viper I’m up for it.”
Wednesday grinned in delight, squeezing Pip’s hand again.
“Well you’ll just have to come to my place and find out, won’t you? Can I cook you dinner tomorrow night?”
“It’s a date!” Pip joked without thinking about what she was saying.
“Slow down Romeo, it’s just dinner.” Wednesday quipped.
Pip chuckled, and to her surprise so did Wednesday. They shared a knowing look between them just as the barista collected their empty cups.
Maybe her birthday wouldn’t be so bad after all.
