• Noel and Arthur love to talk shit. they’ll be haters about anything and everything. They also get into debating really niche topics that neither Oscar nor John can understand.

• John has made it a point to be extra gentle with Oscar, not because he thinks Oscar’s fragile, but because he feels like he needs to prove he’s not destructive.

•Related point- He gets very self conscious around Oscar when it comes to him being more supernatural. He thinks (even after Oscar truly forgives him for his past actions) that Oscar will hate him for being otherworldly (he won’t).

• also the ourthur dynamic is like- qpr jarthur x holy ghosts. sure there’s some old feelings between Arthur and Oscar that rekindle, and John is Very infatuated with Noel (and vice versa but for different reasons), but jarthur and holy ghosts are definitely the strongest bonds.

• that being said- the weakest is probably kingsmen. Noel and Arthur are both arospec and not really romantically attracted to each other. they still care about each other tho, ofc, and they have a strong trauma bond to make up for it.

• John goes to church with Oscar on occasion. He likes the vibe, and people watching. He also likes hearing Oscar speak on the rare occasion he leads a church service.

• Oscar is probably out of the house the most, next to Noel. He does most of his detective work in the spare bedroom tho so he doesn’t leave t h a t much. Oscar’s constantly helping out at the church. John and Arthur are basically living there rent free. They help with Noel on occasion but fr those bitches Jobless.

• Noel is the resident hair dresser. He helps both Arthur and Oscar shave and styles their hair when needed. John doesn’t need to do anything to his hair because apparently he’s just perfect.

• Oscar’s good at describing things for Arthur when John’s not around. He’s a bit awkward about it at first, but can paint a really nice picture once he’s got the feel for it. Noel isn’t very descriptive in general, and doesn’t know what to really put the emphasis on. He’d describe the way a woman is stirring her tea at a diner, but forget to mention what she looks like.

I’m sure there’s more but I honestly just wanted to think about the men for a bit so. If I think of anything more I’ll add it lmao.

It makes me incredibly angry when people say "Riz is canonically aro/ace" and act like you're a horrible person if you ship him with people. Like. Nowhere in the show is it ever stated that he's aro/ace. The conversation people reference as him being "canonically" aro/ace is just him expressing his lack of very specifically sexual attraction, and even then the response from his dad (and by extension Brennan and the show as a whole) is that it's okay, and that it's specifically unclear whether he's ace or whether it's just not something that's happened for him in specific yet. It is intentionally vague as to whether he is ace or not, and there's genuinely zero indication in the show that he's aro other than that he doesn't have a love interest which could be completely unrelated.

Right so I'd like to share my opinion on this for a brief moment. I am still fully here to give people a voice, but this is just, an issue that kinda hits close to home since I'm demiaro.

The most annoying thing in a lot of media is when representation is shoehorned in as a list of labels and buzzwords we're given. Queer people should not have to turn to the screen and say their full identity in order for them to be canonically queer. That's what subtext is for. That's what good writing does. Is not spell it out for you when it's not necessary to do so. They do not need it to be spelt out for it to be very clear that he's ace/aro.

I am going to assume ignorance here instead of assuming malicious intent. The idea that the reason he isn't ace, is because "it's not something that's happened for him in specific yet", is an extremely common thought process behind asexual erasure. I'm sure that's not what you intended, but that is something to reflect on in general.

Both Adaine and Riz have yet to have relationships or display crushes (not counting junior year since most of the evidence comes from sophomore year) . Adaine hasn't gotten an entire nightmare sequence / arc around dealing with here friends all finding partners and leaving them alone. Adaine hasn't expressed or had conversations about any lack of sexual or romantic feels to the extent Riz has. Adaine is headcanoned as ace/aro by some people. Riz is more than that. Riz is very much canonically ace/aro if you do the slightest bit of character analysis. There's accidental coding and then there's Riz Gukgak.

The fact that almost every other fantasy high pc has been in a relationship or a crush (kristen had tracker and gertie, gorgug had zelda, unit, and mary ann, fabian had aelwyn, ivy, and mazey, adaine had oisin and possibly zayn depends on your interpretation, and fig has had ayda and a string of professionals in a variety of fields across seasons 1 and 2) with only riz as a single character

The fact his sophomore year arc was entirely about his lack of sexual/romantic attraction and fear of being left alone because of it

Like not even a joke, it was that and his dad, that was the whole arc

His junior year arc was also about his obsession to stay together as a friend group, which like I mentioned above, is very clearly based in his asexuality and aromanticism

I am not going to stop people from shipping characters ever. If you want to rewrite character sexualities, that's fine by me, I'm a big believer in "Don't Like, Don't Read". I am not gonna pretend like characters are not their sexuality in canon so that people feel justified in writing their stories. People who rewrite character sexuality can do so without making everyone else assuage their guilt for them. I know I'm on the "piss on the poor" reading comprehension website, but it's not hard to tell Riz is ace/aro in canon, and pretending otherwise doesn't help your case.

Siffrin gender n orientation headcanons time

Labels don't really exist the way they do irl in the ISAT world but even if they did I don't think Sif would really care to use them much. But I'll use them here for simplicity's sake

- Sif being nonbinary is canon, we all know this. For me specifically I read him as agender and gender-apathetic. Chose their pronouns on vibes alone rather than wanting a specific gendered presentation. Will accept any terms but prefers neutral ones (they'd honestly rather die than correct people). Will rock any clothes of any sort of presentation, once he's comfortable experimenting with his fashion anyway

- also canon asexual. #based. I have no further insight on this one that doesn't go into complicated and slightly TMI personal projection territory so I'll leave it at that 💜

- arospec as well!!!!! Gray-aro and demiromantic. Very rarely experiences romantic attraction at all, and even then they have got to know that person inside and out and then some to even stand a chance at feeling anything. Gender or presentation isn't really a factor in romantic attraction at all for them

I found a canon (word used!) grayromantic aroallo character!

The book is called "Loving Lee" by Cozy Dubois.

The book is about Lee, an audio technician at a gay bar, falling in love with the new drag queen Carlita/Antonio. It also tells the stories of his found family members, struggling with love, work and other things. All main characters are in their 20s and 30s, and all of them are queer in some way. There's lots of bi/pan characters, as well as trans and intersex representation. It also features an alloace side character.

It's a very characters-driven story with multiple POVs. I especially enjoyed how the communication was done, and all of the characters felt very authentic to me.

The greyromantic character actually falls in love for the first time, and while the greyromanticism isn't a focal point of the story, I think it was nicely done. We get to see the character trying to handle all these new feelings and being a little overwhelmed by them.

I think it's the first in a series, but I haven't read the others yet.

Be warned, though, this book features a lot of romance and several graphic sex scenes. But if that doesn't bother you, I'd totally recommend this book! I've enjoyed it a lot. It feels a little like checking in with your friend group, and I absolutely love that.

Other than that, the novel deals with various mental health issues, past trauma, becoming sober from a drug addiction, and (extreme) homophobia/transphobia.

Below, I'll take more about the aromantic representation. I also have screenshots of the scene that is about the character's greyromantic identity. Spoilers ahead!

So, the greyromantic character is actually Antonio, one of the main characters and the love interest of the protagonist. He has a reputation as a fuckboy. When Lee falls in love with him, all of his friends warn Lee about Antonio. Little does anybody know that Antonio is falling for Lee just as hard.

He had already worked for the gay bar once a few years ago, and then moved to New York to chase his big dreams of becoming as successful drag queen. That didn't work out, though, and all he got was an addiction. At the beginning of the novel, he had just moved back to be closer to his family again, so he had a support system to help him stay sober. He also starts doing drag there again, and this is where he meets Lee.

In the following scene, he's talking to Jackie, his alloace coworker, who he has known for years. I found this scene very relatable. Not knowing what I crush feels like, and thinking the description sounds like anxiety, are common aro experiences, I'd say. And weirdly enough, I Jackie's answer makes me feel really aromantic, as I've definitely never experienced that.

And then, a little later, it is talked about why he uses the grayromantic label and how he feels about it (descriptions of his past drug addiction ahead):

I never had an addiction before, but I can understand Antonio's insecurities very well. It's just so hard to prove a negative, and trying to rule out other possible explanations for your feelings (or lack thereof) isn't any easier.

Overall, I think the representation was very nicely done. I think it might be the best arospec-who-feels-romantic-attraction representation I've ever seen.

Pines Headcanons [Happy Birthday, Grunkles]

I cannot believe I just now got reminded of this- holy shit. Unfortunately, I'm not an artist so have these headcanons instead about Stan and Ford

Stanley ‘Lee’ Pines

He’s bisexual. This is not up for debate (/lh). It just made sense for him 

Stanley is ambidextrous. He can write and utilize both his left and right hands. This was something he self-taught himself in after the portal accident 

On the power of ‘I said so’, Stan does have some level of book smarts but instead of math or science- it’s creative writing. He’s got the talent for it; however, he rarely - if ever - shares these stories with anyone

Stan has some form of neurodivergency. Young Stan definitely gives the impression of ADHD but also I feel he’s got dyslexia- don’t ask me why. This is canon now

He does have scars from the time he spent on the run and doing his sales. I’m not sure what they are exactly, but just know he has them 

Stan knows martial arts. Other than boxing, I feel he would’ve taught himself in other forms of fighting- like the ones done on the streets and it’s a weird mix of martial arts and free-style fighting

He can be a bit of a poet, but for the most part- Stan prefers show-and-tell as his love language. He will present his partner with gifts, and makes sure they understand he’s there for them 

He’s kind of protective over his partners, and definitely has gotten into fights in an attempt to protect their honor. It’s ill-placed sometimes but he’s not about to let some bozo mess with them

Stan always sought his father’s approval. He attempted multiple times to perfect his studying skills before the science fair accident, but apparently Old Pa Pines didn’t seem to notice and the rest, well, it was already history

He fantasized of being a pirate when he was a kid. This is where the whole thing of going on a seafaring adventure with Ford came from! Unfortunately due to canon events, this soured out but he held onto a photograph he and Ford took in front of the beach as a memoir

He’s very much not a big fan of vegetables

Stanford ‘Ford’ Pines

He’s arospec and ace!

Ford absolutely loves puzzles. Why? It just weirdly fitting for his character

He definitely has C-PTSD following the events of Weirdmaggedon

Autistic Ford? Autistic Ford. There is no way he doesn’t have it- I said what I said

Before he got involved in the strange and paranormal, one of Ford’s main interests was actually crystals and rocks! It felt weirdly fitting for his character, and here we are

Ford is more of a cat person. At one point, he rescued a cat-adjacent creature from an auction and named her ‘Nova’. Of course, it’s far from a cat but well, we’ll get to that later

He would be into LARP if it exists in the Gravity Falls canon. Like, that man is a nerd and already enjoys the show’s version of Dungeons and Dragons, there’s just no way he wouldn’t participate in LARP

He does have scars from his time in other dimensions for thirty years. He’s very secretive about them and doesn’t let anyone see- not even Stanley

Ford deals with the aftermath of a burnt-out gifted kid- like, he was the prodigal son and got all the right honors, scores, all of it but as he got older- the more he struggled, the more he felt like something was missing. As the golden child, he was brought up with the notion he would be important but then got smacked in the face when he realized none of it truly mattered

He had a lot of issues adjusting to his new life in Gravity Falls, Oregon after he was brought back from the portal. Ford’s triggered fight-or-flight response would kick in with unexpected situations- like, he’s definitely pulled a blaster/space gun

He likes hot chocolate

Ford enjoys cuddle piles, let’s be honest here. Once he gets more comfortable, he begins making nests with the rest of the Pines family

He’s protective of his family!

( she totally uses a bunch of cat-based pronouns) ◇ Shortly after the series I think she'd get a little less Boys-Crazy and focus more exploring who she is as a person / her self expression. Absolutely is gonna have a mall goth/emo/scene phase (she's smushing all three of those together into one thing for herself).

Grunkle Stan

◇ Also AuDHD, not quite sure what his big main special interest would be but he's absolutely hyperfixated on Ducktective. Also going off the story in Lost Legends I think he'd absolutely be getting into making comics / drawing in general (even if hes not great at it). Post series I think he'd spend a lot of his free time out at sea drawing in the boat's cabin. Mostly making comics of silly re-tellings of he and Ford's adventures out at Sea (he absolutely shows Dipper and Mabel these if he and Ford video calls them when they're on land) ◇ I'm a transfem Stanley truther. He doesn't really realize/come to terms with it until post-series. I think she'd just grow out her hair and throw it in a pony-tail + use she/he pronouns to transition. She'd still use the name Stanley and be fine with both masc/fem terms (ie fine be called a man or a woman). Also he's bisexual (but has known this since he was like a teen, even if he didn't have the words to label it.) ◇ I think his Popsicle addiction from the unaired pilot is real and canon. Old autistic men love popsicles just look at my dad and grandfather.

Something that bothers me about how people interpret Saiki is how they think he’s canonically romantically repulsed. Like it’s just not true?

He’s not repulsed by the idea of a relationship or liking someone, he just doesn’t understand it. That’s how he’s always worded it, he “doesn’t understand”. That’s mostly due to his powers, as is everything unusual he does is. But not understanding something doesn’t mean being repulsed by it or hating it and that also implies that he can come to understand it in time. We already saw it in canon when his slow character development taught him how to show love to his friends a little more and understand Teruhashi.

I totally get people who headcanon him as aspec and arospec (I personally think he’s ace and demiromantic) but it’s totally clear that he doesn’t inwardly HATE the idea of romance.

Fuck it, you guys got me thinking about Hero so here's a Hero post.

Another arospec headcanon (that I mentioned before). So my interpretation of Hero is demiromantic and demisexual. He doesn't feel love at first sight, and there's probably only a couple Vessels he had anything close to a crush on. Among those "canon routes" only HEA is a possibility, and in that route I don't think he'd really have enough time to register than he's got a crush before she's gone. But the one I'm sticking with him having somewhat of a crush on is the Heart. He was there with TLQ, who also loves her. Hero has time to understand he's romantically attracted to Shifty's Heart, which just makes it a bit heartbreaking for him to make the decision to stay behind and let Shifty and TLQ leave on their own. Idk what romantic heartbreak is like, but if it's like losing contact with a close friend, then man that would suck hard. Pair that with suddenly regaining the memories of previous routes all at once and it makes it all worse (stomach sickness from Instinct!Den, guilt from Abandonment!Thorn, HEA, loss of control from Wraith, and that again from Tower/Apotheosis).

Voice mimicry. Crows can technically mimic human speech, but since Hero is already speaking English (or any language you set the game to, it's English for me), there has to be a different way to deal with this. So instead I settled on the idea of him basically mimicking the other Voices in his sleep-talking. Never when he's awake, just sleeping. On occasion he ends up pulling off The Narrator's voice and ends up making everyone else panic. Hero can have a slightly unsettling habit that he's not even aware of. As a treat.

Weird ass nest compared to everyone else. My design for Hero is meant to be much more human than the other Voices. The others all have some form of quadrupedal movement, Hero couldn't pull it off without hurting his back. So he's overall just less bird in some ways. As such, Hero's "nest" is more like an actual bed. Everyone else thinks it's strange, but he at least seems cozy there.
