I don't care that I write him too often out of character, I don't give a single fuck about it. He deserves it. So in honour of this hivemind I must say : I am having the time of my life with the Liveship Traders, excites rant with (huge) spoilers ahead :

I am at that point where Kennit is about to get absolutely WRECKED and I swear to god it feels so satisfying. The character arc and development for every single character in these books is pure mastery. In the case of Kennit you really go from “what a despicable man he really just has luck on his side” to “well I guess even if he did good accidentally he still did good... I almost love this Awful Imbecile” and finish straight into “OH!! NEVERMIND he really was a despicable man the whole time!!!”, a pit of disgust right on time where the whole story is setting up to absolutely destroy him. Kennit is a great example of how “does the right thing for the wrong reasons” is not equivalent in terms of ethics as “does the right thing for the right reasons”. But to quote a great thinker “they really had us in that first half I’m not gonna lie!”

What I really like in these books is that the centristTM opinions of certain main characters are not automatically & heavily presented as the right ones. I am still cackling at Hiémain’s “but they didn’t deserve to die!!” bullshit not being put on a pedestal. Ms Hobb did that! Her mind! Also the Vestrit family not being given an (entirely, let’s be real) free pass for not standing up to Kyle and letting Vivacia happen. The main characters, the actual heroes try to pass off responsibility for bad things and in most media it’s like “but they didn’t directly kill someone with their own hands so aren’t they kinda innocent?”

I have gone full baby on Dutiful, he is the sweetest most cute drama teen since Fitzchivalry himself. I love him with the force of an exploding sun. His interactions with every other character are both precious and absolutely hilarious. He’s got a great mini-me vibe going on with Fitz, wrapped in Hobbs usual delicious irony.

Also poor Dutiful so lonely and starving for warmth, human attention!! The bit where Fitz is like all them hoes been begging me for this for MONTHS but I just can’t say no to those baby blues. I was like congrats Dutiful you just got a dad! Free dad with your meal!

Alec, Clary and Simon all specifically joined the Clave as high ranking members to change the system from the inside" often times when you discuss this with others on here I see this bit of information not spoken about but it is a constant talking point to excuse the negative behaviors and systematic oppression that the shadow hunters use to maintain power and control.

Clary refers to Shadow Hunter society as a police state in City of Heavenly Fire and then goes onto become a part of that police state.

What bothers me so much about this rhetoric is first of all look at our own world so many people have said you can't change systems of oppression by JOINING the system of oppression I mean look at what's happening with shadow hunter society they basically had another fucking war because of shadow hunter right wingers gaining control YET AGAIN.

It is so upsetting to read these books as a minority because it is so easy to see Cassandra Claire's White Liberal Mentality at play here. It's very reminiscent of JK Rowlings white liberal fantasy being that we don't need to change systems of oppression we just need to get out and vote actually!

Clary submits entirely to Jace and becomes a good little shadow hunter wife who never disagrees or removes herself from Jace's wants and needs. She is suppose to represent feminism and women in shadow hunter society but has only one friend outside of her husband's control (Simon) and Jace spends every waking minute undermining anything Simon says. Example: in Lord of Shadows Clary speaks about hoe bad her ptsd has gotten and was encouraged by Simon to go to a therapist, Jace tells her she's not allowed and he will be angry with her if she does go. So Clary dutifully listens to the man who controls her and does not go. She's been crushed under shadow hunter societies patriarchy.

Simon was a vampire and Jewish man who opposed many of shadow hunter societies ideas around mental health and racist values. He is indoctrinated by clary and the lightwoods under the guise of "being one of the good ones" a manipulation tactic often used on POC. Simon rejects any connection to vampire culture and instead remains as an outside viewer of shadow hunters because he wants to remain their uncle Tom. At the end he "transcends" his old culture and identity and becomes a white Christian man- I mean a shadow hunter and thus is accepted into society because he has completely conformed to their ideology and mind set. Simon is then delegated to the role of comedic relief where he is never taken seriously, must always sacrifice himself for the true blood shadow hunters who retain their status as his superiors and even his own girlfriend is viewed as his superior because she is a "pure blooded" shadow hunter. He's a good little minority who is allowed into the "right" culture because of his continual hatred of his own culture and identity.

Alec is a gay man who hated himself until he finally stood up and spat in the face of shadow hunter oppression. He basically said he won't be comodofied by shadow hunters and will choose to live as himself. Alec then goes onto become one of the heads of the police state and has done next to nothing to further gay rights and freedom of marriage for shadow hunters and down worlders. In fact he and many others allowed the cold peace to take place and then remarks that he is a good guy because hey his husband is a man of color I mean downworlder and there for he can't be racist I mean hateful to downworlders. In one of the short stories, book of the white, Alec goes on a huge diatribe towards Tian, a man working with a powerful demon because he wants the freedom to love a fey. Alec and Magnus take turns telling Tian how despicable he is for daring to do something wrong so he can love the person he wants to love. Meanwhile, Alec tried to turn Magnus into a respectable lover in the eyes of shadow hunter culture by essentially making Magnus mortal because in the eyes of shadow hunter culture a human mortal is better to love than a disgusting half demon. I mean Magnus literally recalls a time in the world where his kind were hunted by shadow hunters for fun and enslaved for fun... sounds an awful lot like chattel slavery which is something many real life black people speak about in regards to dating white people or having really any relationship with white people. And yet here we are with Magnus telling a man he's not allowed to break the law to be with his lover. Meanwhile Magnus use to be the closest thing to a chaotic neutral character we had and now he's completely conformed to the cultural morality of his lovers culture. Magnus isn't even accepted by shadow hunter society and will never be as "lucky" as Simon. Alec has basically become a gay for republican telling other shadow hunter downworlder couples that they're being oppressed because they're "bad gays" who need to learn to conform better if they want to be taken seriously.

I think about these morals being pumped into children's minds and you can tell me I'm taking this too seriously. But these are the same kinds of morals employed in JK Rowlings writing and we can all see now that those books promoted racist stereotypes and misogynistic values to young children who some of have gone onto adulthood to defend JKR as a good woman because they bought into her subliminal messaging.

Cassandra Clare has said herself that she wrote the original series at a time when she was not the most politically correct. I think the fact that she continues to try and defend some of these choices are laughable. Clary should have friends and a job outside of Jace, clary should utilize mundane medicine and promote these medicines to shadow hunters. The fact that the only form of therapy shadow hunters have are silent brothers (all of which are cisgender men who cannot begin to understand the pain of being an incest rape survivor.) Is fucking ridiculous and disgusting. The fact that Cassandra Clare refers to a racist, homophobic and misogynistic society as being "chosen" by God is DISGUSTING. Simon should have connections to Judaism and Cassandra clare should understand this AS A JEWISH PERSON HERSELF LOL. Alex should spend every waking fucking second defending and fighting for down worlders BECAUSE GUESS WHAT HE WOULD BE NOTHING WITHOUT MAGNUS. It's ridiculous to watch these characters become the very things they're suppose to hate and Cassandra Clare rewards them for this. It's so despicable and nobody ever discusses this and CC fans always try to sweep it under the rug but I won't fucking allow it anymore. Clary isn't a feminist until she actually does some real world feminism and puts herself before Jace end off there is no excuse. Simon isn't an advocate for mundanes and down worlders until he's taken seriously by other characters and is allowed to actually connect with his mundane heritage, and Alec isn't a gay icon until he starts raising up other gay people who aren't totally in agreement with shadow hunter morals.

My apologies for how long this is but it's something that ways down on me that I needed to say.

Jocelyn, for example, gladly left the Clave and did not return as active Shadowhunter even after Valentine’s passing because she did not want that harsh and cruel life for Clary, a society with rigid rules and ideas of supremacy over other people. Simon expresses same thoughts, the Downworlders express the same thoughts. The criticism against the Clave and the Nephilim as a whole exists throughout the series, but nothing is made of it. It is merely stated—as if that is enough—and done nothing about for the longest time.

Like you said, Clary and co. join the Clave with high positions (just like that anyway, and because making more sense with the hierarchy is not really what Clare was really into as to world-building), as if that alone sort of excuses it all. Because the Good Guys are trying to change things and in the end do it so effortlessly. As to Clary, she was barely a person to begin with. She had no life outside Simon, Jocelyn, or Luke. She had no friends, no memories of normal life that included anyone else than them. There is a brief mention about an art group Clary is angry to miss because Jocelyn wants them to move away from Brooklyn, to live with Luke. But there is no friends for Clary there, no concrete memories of any kind of having anyone else involved with her life.

The rule about not seeking out mundane medicine is never justified other than with general secrecy. Jace has no arguments for why Simon isn’t allowed, it’s just because it isn’t allowed. Diana has to hide herself and her past because she would be severely punished, but the underlying reasoning is never addressed. I think a lot of the rules exist just because law is hard but it is the law (because it’s more convenient for the story than coming up with reasons), and even though characters question laws and rules and norms that somewhat affect them, there are some they don’t challenge at all.

There is no consistency with the ideologies and values the characters have and hold. Like so many things and aspects in their interpersonal relationships that are left unaddressed and processed, the political aspect to the series is no different. For instance, sometimes the writing acknowledges Jace’s abhorrent behavior, but Clare seems to think it’s enough to say it but not make any corrective measures as to the character development even then. Similarly the Cohort rises while Robert as the Inquisitor (who knows the destruction of their ideology) and Jia as the Consul in addition to all the nameless faceless Nephilim who leave Alicante for Alec’s Clave are unable to push back in any way and fight them before it’s too late to stop others from suffering.

I think it really comes down to the same themes of everything in the series adjusting to the needs of Clare’s favorites, and in the grander scale of things, her favorite people that are the Shadowhunters. I’m sure there’s plenty people find to counter-argue this, find stuff in writing that says different—that Alec does fight for the Downworlders, that Simon still has his own connection to Judaism, that Clary does not conform to what the Clave was in Jocelyn’s time. But I also think that arguing over that is the same as arguing that Will and Jace are not the same character when all of it amounts to no change and the underlying narrative still serves Clare’s favorites.

Like great, the writing addresses some stuff in couple sentences somewhere for the sake of having it addressed, but the way it does nothing for the overarching narrative is the problem (just so it could be argued that all of it has been acknowledged, but it still holds no real substance). A lot seems to be discarded after that so we can return to the programmed schedule that is not about Simon's trauma or coping with it, his relationship with Judaism and having to abandon it because ThEy OnLy WoRsHiP rAzIeL, Clary fusing into the Clave she supposedly despised, and Alec doing everything and fuck all being Consul. I just don't think Clare is that capable an author or that she even realizes any of it.

Hi there! It’s the start of a new week and surprise, surprise! An early update! I swear since the day I read PM, waking up every morning always gives me this sense of anticipation and dread. To be honest, I didn’t feel as agitated (I think) as I was when reading your previous chapters, but chapter 4 has given me so many thoughts on it, so get ready for the ask flood ADKALDKKAD;AKDDK

First, my god, cheating scenes have never failed on making me feel queasy in the stomach. I remember how you told us that Satoru has a reason for thinking that he did not cheat and as expected,… Satoru, you harebrained asshole, that was obviously, clearly, undeniably CHEATING!!! Sure, you were caught off in your emotions, but you were born with a brain and you didn’t use it, so no matter how you rationalize it, it’s C-H-E-A-T-I-N-G, you despicable traitor :))))). It actually fricking took someone else to say that to your and Y/N’s face for you to realize that. So much for trying to be the “good guy”, huh? I hate you :))))).

“Satoru cannot get his mind on track when he was breaking up with you because he was guarding your emotions. If you were to break down in front of him that time, Satoru knows that he wouldn’t have been able to get through with it. He wouldn’t have had the strength to leave if you cried for him that night.” So this whole paragraph, in the first sentence, at that time, I think he was trying to protect Y/N’s feelings, therefore, he rationalized to himself that he didn’t cheat and told her so. That’s understandable (yet still horrible), but for the rest of this? I think that Satoru was still in love with Y/N during that time and (still is now) because his kiss with Rie was really just an in-the-heat-of-the-moment thing. The decision to break up with Y/N was a combination of the guilt for betraying her and his new infatuation for Rie. He felt guilty for doing that to the former but at the same time, he was prideful and since he didn’t want to be the “bad guy” in their relationship, so when experiencing something new with someone like the latter, he jumped right in without a second thought and convinced himself that maybe because he has fallen out of love with Y/N so that’s why he did that. I mean, you cannot help how you feel, right? :)) So breaking up with Y/N felt so easy to him. And so, the rest was history. Aren’t you glad that your new hoe Rie got your back on helping you realize this? :))) And second, Satoru and Rie first fight! It still feels pretty tame to me but seeing them not getting along for once in the fic feels absolutely satisfying hehehehhehe.

Was Rie being serious? She got an explanation why she almost sent Y/N into cardiac arrest. I have read it. And guess what? I am officially a Rie hater now. Woohoo! She’s not necessarily malicious, but the truth is, she’s a dumb bitch. And not only that, she’s selfish, insensitive, irrational, insecure, immature, undignified, and impulsive. A lot of people were right. She and Satoru deserve each other bc impulsive cheaters like them need to stick together so no one won’t ever be hurt by their ignorant actions and decisions again.

“She was really hurt by her words that day, partly because it’s true while the other was because she’s been trying her best yet she was still treated like that.” Dang, have you ever thought that maybe, just maybe not everything has to be about you? And how you always have to ruin everything with your awful timing? Who cares if your feeling is hurt? You hurt other people first. It’s only fair here. Shoko needs to put types like you in your rightful place every once in a while because you’re that fucking stupid.

“She was caught off guard by what she saw and felt like she needed to say something to remind you that you and Satoru are already over. She didn’t think that it would cause this much chaos.” *insert the “Am I supposed to feel sorry for that bitch? I don’t” meme. This shit has officially cemented me as a new member of the Rie Hate club. It’s confirmed that Rie indeed has a brain, but she probably has never used it even once in her rose-colored glasses life. She’s so goddamn impulsive??? I’ve been saying it again and again but it’s obvious that two impulsive people like Rie and Satoru would attract each other like a moth to a flame. They don’t think at all before they act and thus, this shameful relationship of them was born out of that.

And that’s not all, here’s the fucking cherry on top, “Didn’t you say that she hasn’t done that before? What if she’s just harming herself now to get your attention?”. Wow,… just wow,… Rie, just exactly how low can you get here? At this part, I’m just speechless. You keep saying you didn’t mean it. Guess what, you did mean it, but only because you’re so desperate to keep your former-taken man that you don’t care if everyone around you gets hurt in the process. And you actually wonder why Shoko and Suguru don’t give a fuck about you? I’m pretty sure they want to treat you like you’re air. And no, Y/N doesn’t need or listen to your pathetic apologies. Acknowledge that you are “another woman” and stay fuck out of her life.

Anyway, Satoru and Rie fight really helped me learn more about what kind of person they are, especially Rie. Satoru was really angry, but he remained rational and did not lash out at Rie much, but finally, the ass didn’t take her side this time, not that Rie managed to help her case with a certain comment. As for Rie, I’m sure my above rant is enough of a summary of what I feel about her as a person, but all I have to say is, compared to Y/N, Rie is so selfish, immature, and irrational in moments like these. She keeps prioritizing herself and never puts herself in Satoru’s shoes, evidently with how she keeps wondering why he’s mad at her despite everything that has been going on. If this was their first fight, would Satoru let her step out of the line again? I still feel that Satoru still very much tolerates her, but we will see.

Also, this is just a small question, but does Rie even have friends outside of Satoru’s circles (are they even friends with her in the first place?)? A follower of you once said Satoru and Rie only have each other, and I guess they were right. Rie is a friendless bitch. She has such a rancid vibe that no one wants to get close to her, so now she has to lower her standard and cling to someone like Satoru /hj

“She knows that he’s driving back to you, yet she couldn’t do anything about it.” This line convinces me that Satoru has started to question his feelings for both Y/N and Rie. He knows and accepts that he’s a cheater now, so he has to rethink every decision he has ever made starting from the day he broke up with Y/N and got with Rie to where it is now. I just hope that Hoejo will actually start to use his head more from now on.

Chapter 4 is the turning point where the dynamic of PM!cast will start to shift because Y/N has finally known the truth and she has decided to work on getting over Satoru. And ooh la la, guess who would be the best person to help her with that? It’s our supremely sexy tattoo artist Geto Suguru my beloved. TattooArtist!Geto is one of my favorite JJK concepts. You were not lying about him being 100% sexier in this fic. This Suguru is a whole 5-star course meal. Now get on my bed, handsome!

Also, the last line… “Little does he know that Satoru was watching it all happen from the door.” LMAOKAKL;AKDSLKDAS;KDA Eat shit, Satoru! This honestly smells so spicy. Is this the long-awaited Satoru vs Suguru brawl we have all been asking for? Know for sure that I’m rooting for Suguru because I think Satoru needs an actual beating of a lifetime just so he can wake the fuck up and stop being so fickle. SUGURU FOR THE WIN!!!

George has already been romantically (or at least sexually, because Sable is a hoe) linked to Ellis Grant from @chlobenet (nothing ever came of it, George developed an infatuation and was perpetually rebuffed by our Lord and Saviour Miss Grant), @perfectlystiles' Laurel Chase, and @randomestfandoms-ocs' Reese Masrani. It is my goal to accumulate enough George Cassidy romantic interests that I can make a Wives of Henry the Eighth edit, so literally go nuts. Everyone, Create An OC To Thirst Over George Cassidy Challenge!

The best thing about George and the other Corpsemen is that the only thing that makes them Jurassic World OCs is that they happen to be hired there. It is by no means their entire story, and although they've been around for literally three days (?!) I keep thinking of more and more things about them and I keep building their backstories to the point where dinosaurs are literally the least craziest thing they've experienced.

If I were to sum up Clem and George's relationship in a gif, though:

A brief history on George "Sable" Cassidy and Clementine "Calico" Roscoe:

He is known as "George" to his friends, and "Cassidy" to his enemies. "Sable" when he's on the job, and "hers" when they're alone.

But it wasn't always like that. I'm not going to bore you with the details about George's fatherless upbringing, or his reasons for joining the British military, or how he'd always been a bit of a troubled kid. Where his story really begins is when he directly disobeys orders and murders the military hostages who were responsible for the attack on his unit. He is dishonourably discharged, and is sent back to the U.K. to await trial for murder and treason.

He manages an escape and goes dark; during which time, Clementine Roscoe, an agent at Interpol, is assigned his case. Unfortunately, after a year of searching (one close call where he was literally within breathing distance of Roscoe ) and a thousand too many mistaken sightings after that, the case goes cold, and she is assigned another case, one which results in the death of her entire family.

Clementine resigns from her position after she is denied leave to pursue the murderers, and spends the next few years methodically hunting down and executing the list of people she knew to be responsible. It was enough to impress Malcolm Drake, who located and recruited her into the Corpse Corporals (aka Gucci Suicide Squad).

All this time, Cassidy had been residing in Southern Africa, making a hefty living as a poacher under ever-changing pseudonyms (I had to make y'all understand that Sable is a bad man but y'all be forgiving Tom for murder and incest so here we are but honestly did it even work because here I am, being fooled, alongside you 😭). He runs a pretty decent operation, also dabbling in the smuggling of weaponry, and he lives a comfortable life. That is, until he is betrayed by his business partners (a brother-sister duo, FCs Megan Fox and Aidan Turner? Idk, still debating) and pushed out of the business under threat of death.

He is rescued by Malcolm, who has managed to track him down, and in exchange for his life spared, he agrees to work for Malcolm. His reunion with Clem is incredibly tense, with both of them pulling their guns on each other and refusing to work together. Malcolm snaps some sense into them (that, and the sum of the payload which had so many 0's added to the end, you couldn't be sure what the number really was other than "a lot") and they swallow their pride and work together.

They would continue to work together as Calico and Sable for the years to come, and when I say it is a slow burn, I do mean THE SLOWEST OF THE SLOW. But there is definitely a fuck ton of sexual tension thrown in there for angst, and a couple of near brushes with death (hazard of the job, really).

George is a prolific man whore, and he's bisexual and proud. So Clem has gotten used to an endless slew of people of all genders cumming coming and going from his hotel room, especially during the long cons where the Corpsemen go deep undercover for months at a time (Hector doesn't come on those jobs, he's got a family to worry about. He taps out at a month, max, if he doesn't get to leave to see his family).

George Cassidy is not a man who is used to not getting what he wants, but Clementine Roscoe is the only exception to that rule. He has come to view her as "unobtainable," this irreverent forbidden thing that he must not ruin. By the time the heat of their mutual hate had dissipated, it had turned into a friendship, and although there was an undeniable electric tension between them, they have never done anything about it. But it has that "will definitely be the best sex of your life" kinda energy.

They fight quite a lot, and disagree on almost everything. Have they tried to kill each other? Oh, absolutely. But they're also professionals, and although Clementine and George may be going at it, it never bothers Malcolm, because he knows that Calico and Sable will put those differences aside and do the damn job.

Clem only involves herself in George's sex life when it comes to people who she considers friends. She has the warnings already mentally scripted, because the thing about George Cassidy is that he cares about no one but himself, and nothing but his holy trinity: blood, money, and sex. He's an emotionally devoid sociopath at the best of times, and at the worst, he's a well oiled and dangerous killing machine.

He is not a good man, Clementine knows, but sometimes, you don't want a good man.

I have a gifset in store involving the two of them, and I'm busy compiling a list of headcanons as we speak. If you want, I can tag you in it :)

(And before anyone comes for me, yes, I am aware of the fact that George "Sable" Cassidy is a very toxic and fucking despicable man, I created him, and I made him that way. I am not condoning his actions, nor would I want to be in a relationship with him in real life, but this is fiction. It is not meant to be taken seriously, if you don't like my hot mercenary boyfriend, then please unfollow me, because he is my current obsession, and I cannot promise that I will not be thirsting for him on my TL at any and all hours).

fruits basket: enablement, the series

alright now that episode 2 dropped I figured might as well take this opportunity to write up simmering beef regarding the Akito-Shigure-Kureno sex plot (which is, imo, by far the worst aspect of Fruits Basket and this series would have been a million times better without it). Disclaimer, it’s long and my criticism is harsh.

I take problem with the fact that the narrative tries really hard to portray Akito as a “crying little girl” in an attempt to humanize her and yet not even two episodes later she’s hoeing around having lots of good sex. If you’re enough of an adult to be getting laid, you’re enough of an adult to be held accountable for your actions. It’s quite disgusting for the story to sexualize a character they deliberately infantize because your sympathy on this character HINGES on them being portrayed as a child.

That being said, Akito being portrayed as a little girl isn’t exactly wrong. She’s incredibly emotionally stunted and never had the chance to grow up. Akito acts like a child, thinks like a child, and in many ways, still IS a child. But not only is she completely immature, she’s also a terrible fucking person; with not one redeemable quality, I can’t help but look at Shigure and go... this is what you find attractive? A tantrum throwing, whiny piss baby who’s not even mentally an adult? Sounds like the perfect grooming victim to me. And ignoring the fact that Shigure straight up DOES groom Akito, it’s despicable how he completely overlooks Akito’s blatant criminal acts simply because he can’t keep his dick in his pants. And I get that sometimes we love shitty people, but there are still moral implications if your love interest is literally assaulting and trying to murder others and you simply choose to shrug your shoulders and ignore it because, hey, at least the sex is good?

Even in Kureno’s case, he’s straight up an enabler and I hate how the narrative dresses it up as “kindness”. If prioritizing someone’s feelings actively endangers the lives and wellbeing of others, then to still do that is morally wrong, and Kureno just choosing to look the other way  highkey makes him a shitty person.

It’s also hilariously hypocritical of Kureno to enable Akito and refuse to hold her accountable for her actions because “she’s just a little girl!” and yet continue to have sex with her. I don’t think I need to explain why it’s wrong to have sex with someone you view as a CHILD.

I’ll never get behind Akito and Shigure’s relationship, my only solace is that them being each other’s love interests saves the other characters from the potential fate of being paired with one of them. And frankly, I dislike all the Sohma adults except for Ayame. I can’t get behind how the adults continue to enable Akito because they fear her being told she can’t fucking kill people will shatter her fragile soul, yet instead of doing ANYTHING that could help either Akito or her victims, these dumbasses are out here fucking her... like what are you doing, chief.
