Do you think Hunter has any extra attributes due to being a grimwalker? Like his teeth are sharper than the average witches or his eyes shine if a light is shined in them etc

I have two answers for this.

I get the feeling that in canon he wasn't intended to have any "unusual" traits or anything of the sort, the formula to make the grimwalkers probably ends up mixing into the closest being to a witch/demon you can have, without the bile sac, unless that's a Caleb specific thing since he was a human. There are a lot of unanswered questions when it comes to the grimwalkers, honestly.

Which is why my actual answer is yes. Because we really don't know exactly how grimwalkers work and it's the more fun option so that's usually the assumption I work with. Because why not.

It honestly depends what I'm thinking the headcanons for, a casual discussion, a fic... it's one of those things for me that's like "whatever works for this specific thing I'm doing but I can change it for another".

In general, I like to think that because he's sort of a mix when it comes to witchy and human traits, he needs a diet that includes food from the demon and the human realm. He can go without one of those but to be the most healthy he needs both.

The eyes are a really fun one as well, I do like to imagine they reflect the light, especially because along with Darius in his abomination form and Eberwolf with those glowing eyes of theirs, they end up being a family with unsettling eyes in the dark and Hunter probably would have such a blast with that. They're not family by blood but precisely because of that, it's more fun to him that they share a trait like that.

If he also had sharper teeth than whatever is the norm for witches, Eber could help him with that. He probably would need to get some chew toys, I imagine, especially if it's a trait that developed a bit later because before all the energy and nutrients his body got had to go to him surviving instead of developing properly, considering how his needs were going neglected.

I love the headcanon too that he gets particularly sleepy when someone scratches the back of his ears justs like the stonesleepers, except he doesn't actually turn to stone, he's just as hard to move as it once he falls asleep over someone like that. Very useful trick when for whatever reason he's having trouble sleeping, especially since he really has to make up for years of sleeping as little as possible.

That he has an easier time connecting with palismen (not bonding properly like witches do with their unique palismen, just befriending them) is also a good one, though very bittersweet, especially if he notices only after he's out of the Coven, because he's already going to be thinking about all those palismen he handed to Belos and feeling guilty and now he's gonna realize they might have had an affinity with him and then if they were aware enough at the moment, that probably made them trust him. And then... well. As a palisman carver that would be a boon though.

Oh! And can't forget the good old HC that he might be more resistant to boiling water. I figure he wouldn't have as high of a resistance as an actual selkidomus, but still higher than the average witch, so he can't be careless about it but he doesn't have too worry to death if he ever gets caught for a bit on the Boiling Rain and such. It doesn't keep Darius from having a couple of big frights there.

Really pisses me off when fanfic writers hyper infantilize Hunter.

Of course, he is just a teenager, he shouldn't be going through all that shit. But he isn't a baby, don't treat him like a baby because he has trauma, treat him like a traumatized teenager.

Teenagers with trauma aren't breaking down over every interaction. They are not projecting every single thing they went through onto others. They are not 'pwoor lwittle bwbys🥺'

Give me anger, give me grief, and give me real, raw feelings. Not just 'mama Camila and Dadrius to rescure'. I get the appeal. it's comforting, I get it, I really do. But this view has made Fanon Hunter a complete mess.

I've only seen this done right a few times. Where Hunter's trauma is a part of him but not all that there is to him. Because trauma is never all that there is to someone, even if it feels like that for that person sometimes.

This is also so far away from the show. Hunter is awkward, nervous, shy, childish, and discovering himself. What he isn't is a ball of panic attacks or just one massive trauma ball. Like how many of you are depicting him. He lost depth? Sure, time cuts. But it's still there. It wouldn't be different.

I get this is a hot take probs lmao so I'm just gonna throw this at the end: You write him however you like, I'm just speaking my thoughts. If you were like how I described after a traumatic experience and are projecting, that's valid. If you see it represented like that brings you comfort, that's also valid. I just think we need to acknowledge how this way of depicting trauma can affect our views in caharathers or how we perceive cptsd especially on teens (which doesn't make it bad, because trauma reactions are a sectrum, im just saying).

Darius takes the Titan's name in vain pretty constantly so I don't know if he's religious like Hunter was, but I think most people on the Isles have a respect for the Titan. I think it's a bit tragic that the Titan is real, but they never asked Hunter to do anything and was angry at Belos using their name to hurt people. I think after things settle down, they'd talk about that. I think it would be both heartbreaking and also.. kind of nice... to hear that the Titan never wanted this.

SOME DADRIUS (+ Uncle Eberwolf) headcanons!!

When they apologise to Hunter for the years of mistreatment there in literal tears and Hunter is just stood there 🧍🏼‍♂️🧍🏼‍♂️🧍🏼‍♂️.

Trans masc! Hunter having to admit to Darius he gets periods and needs pads and Darius goes ALL OUT. Heating pads, scented pads, thin pads, overnight pads, he even gets a little box of tampons just in case. As well as that, Darius gets him sweets, chocolate, among other things. Hunter is mortified and embarrassed at how much research Darius did and how much stuff he bought, but also feels incredibly choked up because let’s be real Belos would probably think Periods are disgusting and reprimand Hunter for mentioning his, and let him suffer in silence with cramps and never get him the things he need and make him suffer through it.

Eberwolf getting all overprotective whenever Hunter mentions dating and immediately being all ‘Your not aloud to date because nobody is good enough for you.’ Or ‘If anyone breaks your heart I’ll snap there neck while there sleeping.’ Despite this he ends up really liking Willow.

Hunter literally had no free time. He only went on missions at the weekend, which forced him awake for hours on end, and during the week he just studied. From 5am till 2am. He rarely ever stopped to eat, or drink. He would never have admitted it, but he was miserable and tired, because of this Darius and Eber feel guilty because of the somewhat obvious signs of neglect and abuse and mistreatment that was practically begging them to look in the right direction and stop only seeing what they wanted to about Hunter.

They both thought Hunter had been savagely mauled when they first saw him. Darius was holding back tears, and Eber was just mortified.

Hunter used to sleep about three hours a night but Darius makes him have ATLEAST eight hours every night.

Hunter was so overwhelmed by the amount of people who offered to take him in. Camila offered, Eda offered (in fact Eda had seemed pretty desperate to take him, he’s still not sure why.). Hooty offered to take him in, and Amity threatened to beat Hooty up in the same conversation. He ended up going with Darius and Eber.

He’s also overwhelmed by the amount of people who want to give him affection and love. Whether it’s Darius’s forehead kisses, Eber nuzzling into his chin, Willow kissing his cheek, Vee hugging him, Amity putting a gentle hand on his shoulder, Luz ‘bear hugging’ him, Edas one armed hugs around the waist, Gus in general. He just confesses all this to his caretakers and how he’s so confused and how anyone could love him, and gets a strong talk about how much he deserves to be loved, and how much they love him.

They try not to talk about Belos to much, but child abuse isn’t easy to recover from, and they’ve had multiple long conversations about Belos’s less than ideal treatment of Hunter. They don’t make him feel any better.

Hunter has on old journal from his time as the Golden Guard, which he unknowingly confesses a lifetime of abuse into. His friends read it by mistake. Darius and Eber found it and also read it by mistake.

1.) not you joking that hunters my favorite character 💀😭😭 /s. nowhere near my favorite character bestie 😭😭😭.

MY FAVORITE character in all seriousness is amity or raine!!! (luz is a close tie with amity bc i was a luz kin first.) but both of their characters mean SO much to me. especially raine's. i wont go ramble heavy but a lot of the reason i love the queer characters in the show are because of the fact that their "queerness" is not made into a character trait. people acknowledge raine as who they are and dont question or think of their identity as a negative. most of the media i found growing up centered around stories about queer people and their journey to realization OF being queer, and not where they already knew. thats one of the most definitive reasons i love toh so much too.

their identities and sexualities arent a "oh theyre the gay character" or "oh thats the nonbinary one" its an extension of themselves beneath other traits. because as a queer person myself theres WAY more that makes me myself than the fact that i identify the way i do. seeing amity develop feelings on screen for luz and then choose for herself on what she wanted. breaking away from her mother and destroying the rhetoric of what was assumed and assigned onto her.

people will talk shit about it and how "amity changed for luz" or blah blah blah. but thats not entirely true. when luz met amity, she saw her as who she was. not a name. not a rich girl. she threatened her stability. the comfort. luz encouraged her in ways that no one had before. about things amity found passion in. especially Azura!! amity changed because she realized she wanted more than what her parents forced onto her. luzs carefree and comfort being WARM and encouraging to do things that SHE ENJOYED. amity changed because she wanted to be more than her parents and be happy and luz just so happened to be the catalyst of that. and raine- as a nonbinary person makes me feel so validated.

2.) uhh surprisingly ive watched s1 like a good 13 or so times??? s2 though ive only watched through fully like once when i first watched it. i did watch individual eps from s2 so its not like i hadnt watched it ONLY once. s3 at least 4 times. s1 is definitely my favorite. even if like the real plot started coming in during s2. the nostalgia of 2020 and the fandom during that time is probably my reason. s1 lumitys energy and lumity as a ship was so simple and yet different.

3.) i think the fandom forgave camila too quickly for what she did to luz. it irks me how they then turned around and "noceda siblings" became a full thing. meanwhile people forget that darius wanted the best for hunter??? "he only had _" shut up. the show was shortened!!! WHO came to hunter during s3? NOT camila. it was darius and ebber! that man is more of a candidate for a parent for hunter than camila. vee and luz as sisters? YES valid. i love that. but hunter does NOT need to be included in literally everything regarding luz. people forget that king literally called himself luzs brother. "your family now" does NOT have to mean a familial tie. there are some friends who are so close like brother and sister BUT THEY ARENT. i cant stand noceda siblings. dadrius is just something that makes sense and i like the parallel potential of it. however speaking i will not get pissy if someone enjoys it, these characters are subjective. as long as you dont tear down others favorites and are respectful i have no issue with differing of beliefs. its just for me personally i wish it wasnt so... forgetful of king and luzs siblinghood.

4.) ive covered hunter before. i don't really like him all that much just due to how fandom treats him. his character in canon is cool though. i like dadrius. its the exception. grimwalker lore still feels very interesting though.

What are your favorite Dadrius tropes?

I can't think of any specific dadrius tropes I love that aren't just like... general beloved parenting/family tropes. I love love love Darius and Camila co-parenting. I love Hunter sewing with Darius.

Weirdly the ones that come to mind are the ones that really annoy me, and it's when he calls him little prince still because- it was a mean name! It was him calling him a nepo baby and like. Hunter wasn't a prince. He was never a prince. His relationship to the emperor didn't give him any benefits or REAL power. He was always a servant. Little prince is not a nice nickname. :[

Oh! That's a trope I like then actually, is whenever I see a fic where Darius picks or has picked a new nickname! The author always puts a lot of thoughts into what would be sweet and affectionate and personal and I really like that.

Also I don't like when he's mean to him. :[ that should be obvious but I see it all the time in Dadrius stuff where Darius is still very awkward and dismissive and judgey or he like. He will give hunter "orders" like. That man can't order him to his room lmfao he's like. Look at him. Or like. He can't tell him he can't go somewhere. Or like. "You are going to go and [take care of yourself] this instant" like that's still an order! And thats bad for him.... Don't do that.... My boy Darius wouldn't do that.... Not more than once. I always see Darius treat Hunter like a child not in the gentle loving way but more like. A strict parent. You cannot ground hunter are you kidding me? Has he not been grounded enough? Let Darius be empathetic and affectionate and loving, let him drop the prim and proper demeanor for five seconds because he loves his son!!!! Why do this thing!!!!!!

I admit I actually didn't Realise what this was implying at first it took me a minute but Dam Darius's reaction and Hunter's reaction feels too real

I feel like we could have maybe seen a scene like this in the show if season 3 hadn't been cut short minus the SA implications

and what Belos used to do to him growing up and Darius reacting in a similar way to this art because my god this would have made such an emotional and pure Dadrius moment if it had happened in the show.

Your Name: Scad

Characters: Angel Milano, Darius Deamonne, Luisa Madrigal

Pick one of your characters and talk about their growth (we recommend choosing an older character, but it’s up to you!) What about their story has surprised you? What are you proud of? How have they changed from their original inception to now?

Angel is technically my oldest babe (by a month lol) and even though it hasn't been much time, I've been surprised at where she's gone! While I originally pictured her as extremely closed off and guarded, she's been much more open to letting her guard down, perhaps against her own will. She wants to make connections despite herself and is often having that inner battle of how much of herself she reveals, and how attached she lets herself become. She's also developed a competitive/sporty streak that I hadn't originally envisioned, which has created for some fun scenarios and dynamics.

What I am proud of is introducing a character who is completely new and untethered to any of the established lore, and slowly etching her into the fabric of Swynlake. I am usually much more likely to play it safe by playing a character who at least has some connections (Darius, Luisa, basically most characters I'm thinking of playing lol) so playing Angel was a bit of a risk but I'm happy with the relationships she's developing! I think she could go in some really interesting directions.

Pick another character (or the same character if you only have one) and talk a little about where you WANT them to go. What are your plans for them going into the new year? 

Luisa is my latest babe and I'm so excited to see where she goes! Obviously, her big arc is going to be learning how to prioritize life outside of her work, especially when it comes to making connections and taking care of herself. Despite being in this huge family and constantly helping out just about everyone in Swynlake, she hasn't allowed herself to make deep connections. She's a Madrigal, but she's almost always out of the loop. She's always at the gym, but she's not a Gym Rat. She hears about everything that happens, but is never involved in any of it. So she not only needs to start getting involved, but she also has to confront her personal demons that are keeping her from taking those first steps. I think this will end up being done in both familial and platonic (perhaps even romantic?) relationships across the board. I'm excited to see where it goes!

Pick a thread or a plot that you’re proud of and talk about why you loved it. 

I think I'm going to say everything that I've done with Darius and Willow. They were not a dynamic I was expecting out of the Boiling Isles gang but it has truly been a delight to see where it has gone. In the span of only a few months, he's basically gone to pseudo-adopting her and acting like a third, barrier dad to do damage control with her other dads. I think it's not only good for Willow to have more adult support in her life but it's honestly sooooo good to make Dadrius real. Let me be Dadrius to all the childrens.

I'm going to talk about it more in the next question, but playing family is one of my favorites and unexpected found family is just some of the best. Love it, 10/10.

In terms of your own writing, identify 1-3 things you love to write about (metaphors? Sibling relationships? Physical description?) and talk about why you enjoy it! 

Family!! Parents, siblings, cousins, found family, I love it all. I just think its such an interesting and unique dynamic that is so often left out of roleplay just by the nature of the genre. Everyone has their own OCs, so more than likely the families are going to be largely NPCs, with the intricacies, dynamics, and dramas all in your own head. Finding someone else who wants to have their own OC that is also inextricably tied to yours is very special to me. It allows you to build that dynamic together and play it out in real time, which is just exciting and fun.

Dialogue!! I feel like it's super obvious in my writing how much I favor dialogue over everything else lmfao. It's just such a great way to let your characters shine and it is quite literally the vehicle for forming relationships with other characters! Inner dialogue can be just as fun, especially when explaining a character's thought process and the things they cannot say out loud. Personally, it's one of my favorites and I think one of my strongest points in writing, so I tend to lean into it a lot. Instead of actually improving everything else lmaooo.

Set up and pay off!! To me, there is nothing better than paying off something you set up ages ago. Whether it's briefly mentioning something in a casual thread that comes up in a BIG WAY later in a more dramatic thread, I just think it is so satisfying to have laid down the crumb trail that clearly leads where it's supposed to. Of course this can't always happen--sometimes things just surprise you! And that can honestly be just as good. But when you spend so much time building up something, it makes it all the more gratifying when it actually happens.

What major updates have your characters gone through this year? (For example: beginning/ending a relationship, moving, starting a new job, adopting a pet, etc). Think if it as anything you would have put in the #character-updates channel. If you have a pinned post, consider adding these updates so everyone is aware of them in the future.

Again, not a lot considering how recently I've been here, but--

Angel: Moved to Swynlake, got a job as a bartender at the Hunted Deer, established herself as a "college student" with Tanya, reunited with her ex Lucky and her bff Angelo, started connecting with the other wolves in town

Darius: Moved to Swynlake and started his career as a professor of Magical Cultures at Pride U, learned about all kinds of Mundus artifacts, helped in the aftermath of Willow's Shop of Horrors, went home for the holidays

Luisa: Has been living in Swynlake, learned about political action at a picket line, somehow correctly guessed that "Snow is cheating"

Talk about your dash reply style and your Discord reply style! (And if applicable, also your doc reply style). What do you like about each type of interaction? What is something you feel is difficult? Do you have preferences regarding how many times you’re tagged per day, or do you prefer for your replies to be queued for a certain amount of time?

Dash: This is obviously the style I'm most used to when it comes to Disney rp. I think it makes the most sense to me in terms of--thing happens, gif, tag, wait for reply, cycle. That being said, its difficulty comes in the fact that it is not held to a time limit, which makes it really easy to let things fall away when things get busy. I still have threads from when I first joined in September going into the new year. A lot of that is on me and it's something that I'm working on. I personally don't mind holding onto a thread for as long as it takes, but I also understand how frustrating it can be for my partners, so I am trying to get better.

In terms of my style of writing, I try to always give a fair amount of exposition, internal dialogue, and external dialogue to keep the thread going. It can be easier to do shorter, quicker threads, but I also really do enjoy longer threads where you can really get into the meat of what's going on with a character and a situation.

What everyone has probably noticed by now is my style of mass replies and dash spam. This is because I'll save all my replies on Discord and work on them at downtime at work, while I'm commuting, etc. I want to have as many done before I start giffing because I use gif pages, rather than saving individual gifs (I had some issue with computer space for awhile). This hasn't always been a great method, as I've been put on activity checks even though I've had replies done in Discord, I just didn't post them on the dash. Going into the new year, one of my goals is to try and post a few replies every day, rather than hoarding them all at once.

Discord: I have found that I struggle with this! Which is really weird because I use Discord all the time for other roleplays, particularly private ones. I'm not sure what it is about the style--Tupperbox, tagging, the many channels--that has been causing a blockage in my brain but I am determined to figure it out and do better in the next year! Please, if you ever want to Discord rp with me, just reach out. The worst that will happen is that I'll end up too busy, which is the other reason I've missed out on so many events. Dash replies I can do on my own time but it is much easier to lose track of a Discord rp. Again, something that will be worked on.

Docs: I haven't done any for this roleplay, but I'd be willing to! I imagine it would be similar to my dash replies, but I'll never know until I try.

And now, a wishlist! Jot down a few themes or stories or genres etc that you want to maybe pursue in the upcoming year! (i.e. a good ol’ fashion forbidden romance, maybe you want to dig deep into racial identity etc) This doesn’t have to necessarily be attached to any characters or stories you have now– it’s just meant to help you see for yourself what kind of stories call to your heart.

Angel:

Get more involved! Particularly eyeing the MAFIA?? Magick Grand Prix would be great too but Angel is not ready to bring that kind of attention to her Magick status

Lean into the sports thing. Join other teams outside of football and make connections there

Toxic relationships! Angel doesn't think she's a good person and doesn't think she deserves someone good. Let's all bring out the worst in each other

Sexual tension: She's a very sexual being and while has been more flippant in the past, has been very wary since finding out about her heritage. Would love to see the conflict of wanting to do things but also being scared of turning someone

Turning someone: On that note, if you want your character to be turned, Angel could be the one to do it. Lots of good angst all around

Old man yaoi Dates?? Darius has so much baggage, I just think it would be fun to explore that as he desperately tries to work through the loneliness pit he has dug for himself

In general would like to do more with the university, whether it be more students taking his class, more connections with other professors, etc.

Being your worst self: again, I just think it's fun when characters bring out the worst in each other. Darius is a messy bitch who lives for drama and I just think he should be allowed to do more of that

Boiling Isles conflict: I would loooove to see us start moving into a plot regarding the Boiling Isles and the Emperor, and what should be done about him. Darius is just on the cusp of being a revolutionary, but he's going to need a push.

Luisa:

Friends! Lovers! Family! Give this girl the connections she needs!

I think it would be super cute if someone had a crush on Luisa that she was completely oblivious to. In general I want to do so much with Luisa and navigating romantic relationships, but the problem is it's just not a priority for her right now. She needs outside influences to push her into it. In some ways, Luisa would be an incredible partner to someone--extremely caring, excitable, and ready to do anything. But on the other hand she has some huge hurdles to overcome--forgetfulness, not prioritizing her relationship, constant last minute ditching. I want to explore the good, bad, and ugly!

Swynlake disasters: very excited to put her VFD status to work! Let's save some people!

Helping others: It's her primary mode, so if you are in need of any kind of help to kick off your plots, let me know! While she has a ton of growing to do herself, she's also a great vehicle for other people's growth
