Q676. In the flashback arc, when Urahara was appointed as a captain, Hirako remarks, "We’ve got a pretty easygoing guy coming in," to which Aizen responds somewhat cryptically. Was Aizen paying attention to Urahara even before he was appointed as a captain? If so, was Urahara already recognized for some of his research at that time, or were they academy classmates?
A676. Aizen knew Kisuke even before Kisuke got involved with Yoruichi.
I've already shared some thoughts on this information here, but wanted to post the original question and the actual manga panel that it refers to.
I think it's pretty evident that Shinji did not know Kisuke prior to his promotion, but Kubo confirms that Aizen did. It is also evident that the knowledge was one-way, or we would have seen some acknowledgement from Kisuke that he was familiar with Aizen Sousuke.
Tumblr media
So I believe that rules out them being childhood friends or school chums in favor of the idea that Aizen has been watching Kisuke for a long time.

I FEEL LIKE I ALREADY KNOW THE ANSWER, BUT-
Given that zanpakutō tend to disintegrate to bits when their wielder passes, would Quilge happen to keep some shinigami prisoners (just a little torture, as a treat) just so that he may collect their weapons as well?
this is actually an EXTREMELY interesting question , and something I never even personally though about ? so thank you for bringing it to my attention ! i should preface that ------ i am not a good resource when it comes to bleach lore . i hardly remember anything , in fact . :) so any smaller world-building or lore details i might have missed or not remembered , i appreciate ! thank you .
anyway , with that said , i would say that ... yes . seeing as quilge orders that the enemy's weapons be confiscated when captured , i'm sure he'd be one to keep any particular ones that catch his eye , specifically . he really is THAT MUCH of a fucking dick . although , he isn't too knowledgeable about the crafting of katana / other japanese-based swords , he does appreciate them . but yes , that does imply that the wielders would have to be kept alive in order for him to keep them just because he thinks it's a beautiful weapon .
a particular cruel aspect to think about , really .
thanks for the question !

*EXTREMELY CANON-DIVERGENT FROM THE BEGINNING OF CHAPTER FOUR* *Slight spoilers for every chapter through chapter 4*
Chapter 3: Body Check
I’m sorry, Kurumi,” Yakou mumbled sheepishly as he rubbed the back of his neck. “I kind of forgot you had class today.”
“It’s okay, Chief Yakou, I can always go with some friends from school! Maybe I’ll be able to meet you all there later?” the young informant sighed. “Either way, I look forward to hearing all about it!”
“I’ll win you a nice prize today, Kurumi!” Yuma vowed.
“Atta boy, Yuma,” Yakou thought fondly.
“Seriously, Master? You’re going to spend your day off trying to win a prize for that stupid flatty?” Shinigami pouted.
Yuma ignored her.
Waving goodbye to Kurumi, the group walked back to the car that Makoto had lent them for the day.
“It’s so exciting to see such a treasured piece of Kanai Ward’s history open again!” he exclaimed when he had dropped off the vehicle earlier. “I may have to come by later to partake in the celebrations as well!”
“Damn, this place is jumpin’,” Desuhiko observed as they pulled into the crowded parking lot.
Halara, who was in the passenger seat, pointed out an empty parking space to Yakou.
“Like I said yesterday, this place has a lot of treasured memories for the people of Kanai Ward,” Yakou explained.
He waited for everyone to exit the car (and for Vivia to slowly roll himself out from the trunk) before locking the car, double-checking that the doors were secured.
As they stood in the entrance line, they all craned their necks to get a better view of the establishment.
Halara took notice of the prize counter, eyes captured by the vast array of colorful prizes spilling from the shelves above.
Desuhiko stood on his tiptoes, trying to get a good view of the animatronic band.
Fubuki stared up in amazement at the brightly-colored tubes that crisscrossed above their heads.
Vivia was looking for a dark corner to crawl into.
Yakou squinted at the menu board across the room. He hoped they still offered beer.
Yuma was doing his best to simply take it all in, purple eyes wide with wonder.
As they moved to the front of the line, an odd sight caught their attention.
Guillaume Hall, Leader of the Amaterasu Counterterrorism Squad, was seated at the entrance, occasionally popping her gum and stamping the hands of people entering the restaurant.
“How many?” she asked in a bored tone once they reached the front of the line.
“Uhm, six?” Yakou stated nervously as he handed her the flyer.
Her cyan eyes scanned the paper, before folding it up and tucking it into the podium.
“Guillaume, what are you doing here?” Yuma inquired.
“Working,” she shrugged, spinning part of the stamp. ‘Hands, please.”
“What’s this?” Halara asked, examining the wet ink on the back of their hand. The number “069” glowed faintly against their skin. “Nice,” they thought.
“Body identification,” Guillaume explained.
“WHAT?!” the group exclaimed as they all jumped back in shock. Vivia’s eyes slightly widened.
“Sorry, wrong terminology. It’s the ‘kid check’ program Makoto implemented. It helps us keep track of who came in together and makes sure that they all leave together at the end of their visit.”
“So, how did you end up working here?” Yuma pressed.
Guillaume sighed as she spun part of the stamp again, beckoning the next group forward. “Another Makoto idea - community service for Peacekeepers like me who wish to have more lenient sentences and ‘move our lives forward in healthy and meaningful ways’. I guess I’m thankful for the opportunity. I have nice accommodations and I just got a new set of tarot cards with my first paycheck.”
“Oh, well, that’s great,” Yuma replied.
“I suppose. Have fun, be safe. Oh!” she reached her arm out, temporarily stopping the detectives, eyes wide. “Beware the lure of the void, the color of the night.”
“What?”
Guillaume shook her head, eyes returning to normal size. “Beware the void. I can’t tell you what that means.” Another shrug.
“Can’t?” Halara inquired. “Or won’t?”
“Can’t. Fortunes aren’t always as straight forward as one might believe. Once I had a vision that Yomi was about to go on an unexpected trip, and let me tell you, none of us expected the way his cloak was going to get tangled under the wheels of that bus.”
“Okay, well, thanks Guillaume! Let’s go find a table, everyone!” Yakou called out, urging the group away from the fortune teller.
“Vivia, I know you’re kind of having a crisis right now, but believe me, you do NOT want to sit on this floor,” Yakou explained as the group slid one by one into a vacant booth.
Vivia sighed and pulled himself from under the table and onto the bench.
Yakou went to pat Vivia’s shoulder, but his brief adventure under the table had already covered the young man in some sort of sticky, mystery substance that Yakou did not want to think about.
As the group passed menus to one another, a figure approached the booth.
“Seth?!” Yuma yelped in surprise.
Yakou had to rub his eyes, but sure enough, Investigator Seth Burroughs stood before them.
His normal blue cloak was still in place, but a headband with a pair of black fox ears had been jammed on top of the hood. Several buttons and pins adorned the garment, featuring drawings of Amy Terasu and her cohorts, as well as advertisements for different products and attractions the restaurant offered.
Seth waved awkwardly at the group, before producing a small notebook from underneath his cloak.
He mumbled something. The detectives glanced at each other before leaning in towards Seth.
“Uhm, could you repeat that please?” Yakou asked. He had forgotten how loud this place could get.
Seth nodded, his lips continuing to move.
“We still can’t really hear you,” Yuma sighed, doing his best to give the young man a supportive smile.
Seth closed his eyes and inhaled deeply before he pulled his megaphone out from under his cloak. A sticker on the side showed Babs Boon, the baboon who played bass guitar for Amy’s band, with a speech bubble that said “Let Your Heart Be Heard!”.
“I SAID, ‘WELCOME TO AMY TERASU’S, MY NAME IS SETH, I’LL BE YOUR SERVER TODAY’!”
The group all recoiled in shock at the sudden noise.
“Hi, Seth,” everyone mumbled.
“ARE WE HERE FOR A SPECIAL OCCASION?”
Yakou was about to say no, but Desuhiko suddenly remembered a poster he saw on one of the windows of the building.
“It’s actually my birthday!”
The rest of the group groaned, but they’re all drowned out by Seth issuing a very loud “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” through his megaphone.
“CAN I GET YOU ALL SOMETHING TO DRINK?”
Through the ringing in his ears, Yuma thinks he hears Halara mutter something about earplugs.
“Do you guys still serve beer here?” Yakou whimpered, internally hoping that this was a question that could simply be answered with a nod or a shake of Seth’s head.
Seth nodded and went to hold the megaphone up again, but was stopped by Yakou, who had lunged across the table and pushed the device down. “I will take whatever brand is the cheapest.”
Seth nodded again as Yakou sat back and dug around for his wallet, eventually producing a small plastic card that he passed to Seth.
He did not miss the way the rest of the group followed the movement of the card, hoping to get a glance at it.
Seth gave the document a once-over before nodding and passing it back to Yakou, only to have it intercepted by Halara, who held it out of reach while the rest of the group ordered their beverages.
Once Seth had walked away, Halara examined the card.
“Chief, you’re 27?!”
“WHAT?!” the rest of the group shrieked.
Yakou groaned and dragged his hand down his face. He had been dreading this day.
“Yep, I’m 27!” he repeated with forced cheerfulness. “I use a really good moisturizer!”
“I don’t mean that as a compliment,” Halara stated flatly.
Yakou slumped in his seat.
“I know,” he sighed.
“It’s probably because you smoke so much,” Desuhiko added.
“And why you smell weird,” Fubuki chimed in.
Vivia let out a deep sigh. “Even I have to agree…it’s not a good look.”
Yakou looked helplessly at Yuma, who was very pointedly avoiding eye contact.
“Yuma?”
“Uhm, yes, Chief?”
“How old did you think I was?”
Yuma made brief eye contact with the older man before glancing away again.
“I’m not sure, Chief, maybe like…mid-thirties? Possibly forty?”
“FORTY?!”
Shinigami let out a loud cackle.
Yakou is saved from further embarrassment by the return of Seth.
He passed a plastic pitcher of beer over to Yakou, who sloppily filled a glass. “Yeah, I’m gonna just go ahead and order a second one of these already,” he sighed, gesturing at the pitcher.
Seth nodded before doling out the remaining glasses on his tray, which he then tucked under his arm before pulling out his notepad.
“Are you here for our pizza order?” Desuhiko asked nervously, eyeing Seth’s hand as it travelled back under his cloak in search of his trusty megaphone.
Seth nodded.
“Okay, cool, I think we have that sorted,” Desuhiko said quickly, with a slight tremor in his voice.
As Seth retreated to the kitchen with the group’s order (two pizzas, one veggie and one with half sausage-and-pepperoni and half anchovy, and an ungodly amount of cheesy bread), the detectives resumed their observation of the space.
“What’s that stage over there?’ Yuma asked.
“Oh, that’s where the band performs!” Yakou explained.
“The band?”
“Yeah, they’re a bunch of robot animals and they sing different songs and stuff. There’s Amy the fox, Babs the baboon, Al Paca the Paca-” Yakou began to explain.
“Wait, the paca? Why isn’t he an alpaca?” Halara inquired.
“Huh?”
“If his name is Al Paca, then he should be an alpaca.”
“It’s a pun, like his last name is the same as what species he is. It’s a play on words.”
“I know what a pun is, Chief, I’m just saying that his whole name is a pun and they should’ve run with that-”
“Geeze, I kind of forgot that when it comes to animals, Hellara can get really scary,” Yuma said to Shinigami as he watched the exchange between Yakou and Halara grow heated.
Shinigami let out a loud giggle and twirled around in the air. “Aw, Master, you just used one of the nicknames I came up with!”
Yuma grimaced at the realization. “Still, the thought of an animatronic band sounds interesting. I wonder if I’ll know any of the songs? Maybe the music could help jog my memory!”
“Or maybe they’re the type of animatronics that bite people!” Shinigami cackled.
“Do those really exist?!” Yuma thought to himself. Before he could question Shinigami any further, Seth had reappeared with a large tray of food and a second pitcher of beer.
As he finished setting everything down, Yakou glanced over everything.
“Oh, hold on, this pizza was supposed to be half anchovy, let’s get that fixed for you, Desuhiko.”
“MY APOLOGIES, I’LL BE BACK WITH ANOTHER PIZZA SHORTLY,” Seth shouted, picking the tray back up and retreating to the kitchen.
“Do Death Gods need to eat?” Yuma asked Shinigami. He had just bit into a piece of cheesy bread and instantly decided that this was probably the best thing he had ever eaten in his life, lost memories be damned.
“Yep! Luckily for me, I can conjure up whatever food I want, thanks to my totally awesome and sexy powers!”
Yuma glanced at Shinigami out of the corner of his eye. Sure enough, she was slightly reclined in mid-air, a piece of translucent purple pizza in her hand.
“Oh, yeah, that makes sense, I do see you having snacks sometimes. What does your food taste like?”
Shinigami giggled. “Souls.”
Yuma sighed as he took another piece of cheesy bread. He didn’t know why he continued to bother asking the Death God anything.

thanks for answering my ask! i am starting to loooooove ur after life city au – it is already one of my favs fan aus so far!
the concept of this au is just creative and clever and interesting so far! like how u made the three clock keepers managing at different times of the day and having that steam-punk style is, ugh! the rest of the lords (and probs nene – i love akanene friendship) readying themselves to commit murder if someone hurts kyo is adorable! (and also him stealing random hearts to inspect them lmaoooo such an unhinged akane thing to do)
then there is shijima abusing her powers to create legit nightmares to those she thinks doesn't deserve it and rides on her paper airplanes cuz she doesn't want to walk – ugh, what a queen! (loving the sakumei crumb!) and mitsuba is hating his job, which kind of makes sense that he doesn't want to cooperate since he isn't a sadist and hates to see people suffer!
and the more i read, the more it makes me want to know the answers to these questions: how akane became kyo, like did he wander into the city after he died at the age of 12 and captured the hearts/the attention of kako and mirai? how come he was declared missing and not dead..? and why is he searching for the key to his clock?; how did sumire and katakuri become no.6's assistants? is it because among the sacrifices to shinigami, these two are the ones who aren't ready/doesn't want to reincarnate?; who is sakura waiting for?; how did tsukasa become hanako's shadow?; what is the role of the minamotos here?; and what is the real reason for hanako in wanting the rest of the lords to work together?
gah! this au is gonna be stuck in my head for a while now!
just, thank u sooooo much for introducing us to this au!!! i hope to see more of it!!
After life city au
Part 1/ Part2/ Part 3
AAAAAAAAAAH THANK YOU SO MUCH
I honestly absolutely wasn't excepting this au to interest sm thank you it means a lot QvQ ANd udgshjdgs you're too nice aaaaah
The three clock keepers managing at different times was just a funny idea I got after the riddle of the Sphinx :DD (even if the riddle is the other way around with the kid at the beginning of the day and the old man at the end but shhht) I thought the idea was really fun and I am pretty sure AidaIro didn't choose an old man for the past, a young man for the present and a kid for the future for nothing :))
Kyo is just way too pure for this underworld they just don't understand XDD they feel like they need to protect him (and yeees I still wanted him to be like super blunt but in a happy way now XD)
And I am happy to see you like the ideas with Mei and Sousuke too aaaah
I will try to answer my best :D
For Amane and Tsukasa I already answered here if you want ^^
What's important to know is indeed what is the Minamotos role. They are descendant of the god of lighting who is the one who decided to banned some gods in the underworld and have the duty to protect the near shore. Yorimistu is the one who decided to give all this reincarnation job to the underworld, promising that if they behaved and did a good job the ancient beings there will be offered a day or two in the near shore sometimes to see the sun.
Teru and Kou are the sons of the Minamoto chief and have learned all their lives how to get rid of supernaturals who end on Earth sometimes (it kinda work as Tartarus in the greek mythology, the monsters never die they just come back after some times). So they are still exorcists in this au.
And they will get involved into this mess because some reports said that several souls never got to reincarnate properly despite being able to go to the After Life city. So they will have to go in it as a official trip between the two shores (because the dad doesn't have the time to go). Hanako is the one who is in charge of keeping touch with them and he HATES them (and if you read the stuff about Hanako and Tsukasa you definitely know why :')), the feeling is reciprocated.
Tumblr media
They don't have that much informations of the far shore, because a lot of books about it got burned several time, a lot of History have been lost between time. So there is a lot of misinformations. They think all the supernaturals there are evil and just trying to get rid of humans. When they wil get ready to go as 'princes' of the Near shore, they will be accompagnied by an Akane girl who said want to act as their guards (with one of her friend, who is only human but will just send a kind of flying robot to go there (that's Lemon, I just wanted him in this au yep that's all so he has a robot yes don't ask)). Since the Akane and Minamotos Family have a long history together they will accept. (You all get that this is Aoi, but she wants to go there definitely not to protect the Minamotos but to take care of some personal business :) and Lemon is here because he is her best friend)
Tumblr media
One of the big misinformation the Minamotos have are about the relationships between the Akane, the Katakuri (I will call them this since I have no idea what is his last name) and the Minamotos. In the recent texts it is said that they are special families who always worked together, so Kou and Teru believe that. But this is absolutely false. Several centuries prior, the Minamotos (still not having the right history because the stuff between the Gods happened millenials ago, only some people from the Far shore know the truth) afraid of the increasing number of supernaturals, started to use humans sacrifices to appease the Far Shore. It didn't really work but they didn't stop. They only stopped once Yorimistu was here and started to give a real jobs to the Far Shore (they didn't have this reaincarnate job before him) Only two were able to stay in the far shore at this time, Sumire and Katakuri who were raised as sacrifices all their life. Their hatred of the Minamotos and the humans were what got the attention of Shinigami who offered them to stay as supernaturals to help him. Even if it had been centuries they are still really angry about their human situations :)) and will deifinitely use what they can to make the Minamotos pay for what they did.
Sakura is waiting for someone to take her place as the next princess to then become the queen. That's what the previous queen did with her. Normally the Lords know this because this procedure already happened, but they don't have the best memories having lived for millenials in the dark for some. Only some remember but they aren't the ones who will talk :)) (and I let you guess who she is really waiting for ahah)
And for Akane that's exactly as I said, He didn't get declared dead because he went missing :) He indeed took the attention of Mirai and Kako but when he was alive I let you guess what happened after (you can go check Part 1 if you want there is some info there eheh 👀👀)
Tumblr media
Kyo is sure that he will be able to feel other things than being just happy all the time if he finds the key of his lock. He learned that locks are meant to protect something so he wants to find the key (he is kinda simple minded ahah)
Hanako want the rest of the Lords to work together I am pretty sure you can understand what for with all the infos now 👀 The gates between the near and far shore are rarely opened for everyone (some supernaturals can go there but not that much, Mirai and Kako can, Tsuchi can too but never go and Yako too but she doesn’t care either. And they have tons of paperworks to fill and all/ they are considered the least dangerous of the Lords so that's why) but since the Minamotos will need to come to check some things, they will have to be opened at least twice :))
Here you go! I tried not to give all of it (honestly I did but shhht) I really hope you will still like it eheh Thanks a lot for your asks they really make me super super happy :DD
(ngl I think there is a lot of inconcistencies especially about who can go in the near shore and who can’t. It’s kinda like in the manga, some of them are sealed and others not x’) (let’s say that ahah) because I don’t have everything in my head so I will maybe come back to correct some stuff sometimes ahah x’) since I didn’t write anything before and the last time I worked on it was two years ago dhsj I will try my best though! but this is mostly for fun yay)

July 15th Celebration!!
Small something I created I've been wanting to do for some time! Ironically the four characters and I share the same birthday!!! Happy birthday to them all!!! Feeling very proud to share a birthday with them!! Wrote a very small interaction with them all!
Tumblr media
Deku: where am I? Hey Mirio, do you know where we are???
Mirio: Midoryia?!  I’m not sure right now but we both popped up here at the same time...looking around quickly
Walking into the room to see a man with orange hair in a shinigami uniform. He had a serious look on his face accompanied him was a large sword begin carried on his back.
Ichigo: You guys don’t look familiar. What the hell is going on here? Deku: I’m not sure we just popped up here out of nowhere…. scratching his head there is a reason we are all here though.
The other door opened to find a very large blond man walking in with a cigarette in his mouth. Raising his brow to see the three smaller people than himself. Ichigo, Deku, and Mirio's eyes widened as they thought this guy was tall.
Rosinante: What are you all staring at??? Deku: It could be a villain that captured us…
Ichigo: A villain? Is that what we are calling the Arrancars here?
Mirio: Arrancars? Rosinante: What is all this nonsense talk about Villains and Arrancars?
Deku: Ahhhh!!!  Excuse me, sir, you're on fire!!!
Deku began to freak out just a bit, grabbing a pitcher of water as he poured it on Rosinante.
Deku: stop, drop and roll!!!
When the fire was put out on Rosinante. Ichigo began to observe the room just a bit more. Seeing there were small decorations around the room and a fruit tart on the center of the table. Seeing a table for 5 people. It dawned on him it was his birthday. Ichigo: A birthday celebration… How would they know it's my birthday? Deku: Wait, it's your birthday too?? It's mine and Mirio’s birthday today as well.
Rosinante looked over at them all three who were talking about the similarities of them having the same birthday.
Rosinante: Well make it four people sharing this birthday. They saw the door knob giggling as all began to focus to see who would come out of the door. Seeing a girl holding a cake, she gave them a smile. She didn't have a concerned look on her face but rather a calmer expression.
Valerie: Happy birthday to you all!!! placing the cake down next to the fruit tart on the table. I’m glad you are all here!!!
Rosinante: You did this?
Valerie made her way with a smile on her face.
Valerie: Before you guys think of the worse you guys are from all different universes. And we all have something in common: our birthdays are on the same day!
Ichigo: So you know us? And we don’t know you... sound like a stalker. raising his brow
Valerie: I’m not!
Rosinante: sounds very stalkerish... Mirio: or a crazy fan he laughed
Deku: We have a fan?!?!
Valerie: Well I’m a fan of all of you guys!! But not in a stalking way. My attention is on what other people thinking of Marco but that's not the point. I brought you all here so we can all celebrate it together! Rosinante, Deku, Mirio, and Ichigo happy birthday to each and every one of you. I wish you all the very best birthday. Thank you for all the laughs and smiles I've had throughout the years. You all four will always have a special place in my heart. Deku began to tear up, wiping his eyes, Ichigo gave a smile, Mirio's heart felt touched by the sincere words, and Rosinante patted her head. Without speaking a word they all seemed to read the mind of each other.
4 of them: Happy birthday to you Valerie.

“Matt! You’ve got a friend here to see you!”
Friend?
Of course, Matthew Light had a plethora of acquaintances and people who considered him their friend; people he sought out to keep up public appearances with on the rare occasion that he wasn’t holed up in his room studying or casting judgments and filling up pages of the Death Note. However, none of them ever came to his home and he preferred it that way-- for people to stay out of his personal space. Needless to say, his alarm bells were already going off at his father’s announcement.
“Said something about a notebook,” Detective Jack Light rumbles as an afterthought.
Notebook? Could it be?
The God of Death who was attached to Matt’s notebook shifts to his side on the bed as he grabs an apple out of the bowl on the nightstand. He crunches into the crisp fruit, allowing the addicting juices to flow over his tongue.
“A notebook, hmm?” Kylo hums thoughtfully around his bite, echoing Matt's own sentiments.
The young god carefully places the Death Note into his elaborate hiding spot. He secures the false bottom of the drawer and reassembles his pen before giving his room one last glance-over to ensure nothing is out of place. Satisfied that there is no evidence out in the open to find, Matt makes his way down the stairs and to the front door of his home. What he finds waiting for him is someone whom even he never would have surmised.
He steps out onto the front porch and closes the door behind him, giving himself and his guest some privacy. A quiet moment passes between the two strangers as they size one another up. Of all the things Matt was expecting, this girl certainly was not it; her double blonde ponytails and baby face gave her a halo of innocence while her tight low-cut black dress accompanied with red lipstick and nail polish screamed of anything but.
Her sapphire eyes widen in astonishment as her mouth gapes open at his mere presence. This wasn’t something new to Matt-- girls from school practically threw themselves at him and to say he was typically unimpressed is a severe understatement. Though the girl in front of him is more physically attractive to him than most of the bimbos he has to deal with on a daily basis he can’t help but feel a surge of annoyance at her gawking. He clears his throat and leans against the doorframe, stuffing his hands deep into his pockets. Matt’s eyebrow shoots up expectantly when her eyes meet his and she finally takes the cue to speak.
“U-uhm, pleased to meet you. I’m Misa Amane. I thought that you might be worried about the message in the media and I couldn’t wait any longer to meet you. I brought this as a show of good faith.”
Misa pulls a familiar black notebook from her purse and presents it to Matt with her head bowed.
A Death Note!
Matt takes a step forward, removing one of his hands from his pocket, and touches the corner of the notebook, the soft black leather familiar under his fingertips. Behind the girl, an apparition comes into view-- a towering figure dressed in all black, the clothing dusty and ratty in some places; black shaggy hair frames a face that has likely seen better days, covered from brow to mouth in various cuts and scars; finally, the part that captures Matt’s attention the most are the expansive black wings tucked together behind the creature, not dissimilar to the pair that Kylo sports.
A Shinigami! She is the fake Kira.
“Come on in,” Matt invites.
He opens the front door and pushes the heavy wood open, waving her inside.
“Are you sure it’s okay?” the girl asks.
“Yes, I’m sure. Mother, Misa came all this way to return my notebook, so we’re going to study together for a while before she has to head back home. Would you please bring us some drinks and brain food?”
“Absolutely!” the middle-aged woman delights, thrilled that her son has a guest for once, “It’s such a pleasure to meet you, Misa dear.”
Mrs. Light takes her leave in the direction of the kitchen while Jack sidles up next to his son and eyes the young woman.
“Just up the stairs, Misa,” Matt instructs.
Before he can follow, Jack gently tugs on Matt’s arm, halting him in place.
“Since when do you have guests, let alone a girl over?”
“Don’t act so surprised, Dad. I told you that I was looking for a girlfriend,” Matt says dismissively, wishing that his detective father would just leave well enough alone.
With a grunt, Jack releases him and watches his son disappear up the steps leading to the second floor.
Matt leads the petite blonde into his bedroom, shutting and flipping the lock of the door behind him. Rolling the computer chair out from his desk, he centers it in the room, swiveling the back around and gestures to the cushion.
“Have a seat,” he orders.
“Thank you,” the young women mewls softly.
The soles of her shoes click on the hardwood floor as she walks across the room and sits where she is instructed to. Matt crosses the room and sits on the end of his bed directly in front of her. Silence once again passes between the two of them as he watches her coldly, eyes passing from the top of her head, following the paths of her long black lace gloves and matching thigh-high stockings, ending with her glossy platform boots. He was still having a hard time believing that this timid girl was the fake Kira.
“How did you find me?” he clips.

He can tell right away, that you’re likely not going to be on board. There isn’t a lot of time to explain. Shinigami are running toward and away, and there’s a lot of confusion. He starts moving again.“I’m not running through here like a criminal or an anarchist.” He might shunpo to avoid an issue, but that’s different. “I want to talk to Shunsui.”
He snatches a Shinigami up by the collar when they come running around the corner, blinking as he realizes they aren’t all that much shorter than he is and it’s a bit tricky. Still. She seems mostly bewildered. Probably because he looks like almost any other Shinigami, since he’s known by name, not face. “You work here, right? Which way to the Head Captain’s office? Or the lieutenant, Nanao. Where’s she?”
He isn’t being quiet, and the few Shinigami that were brave enough or quick enough to follow, seem to hesitate, some with swords drawn. But this is Seireitei. He remembers Rukia telling him they banned Bankai and it’s use in certain sections of the city, because Captains were using it to punish subordinates. Mayuri in particular had destroyed a huge portion of his division, and even Toshiro had been reprimanded. So it’s not surprising that in Seireitei where even the officers might wreck the place, someone coming to find the Head Captain, even coming in through a wall, might be sanctioned.
The woman sputters, seeming caught somewhere between annoyance and duty, and maybe the concern that he could possibly outrank her. “He’s not here… The Head Captain and First lieutenant are closeted with— Shouldn’t you know this?”
He scowls, narrowing his eyes, ignoring her question. “Who’s in charge then? That old guy? What’s his name— the other Lieutenant? Is he here?”
She hesitates. “Yes… sir?”
“Well, go get him then!” He drops her and stops holding on to his spiritual pressure, letting it flair, because it’s an asset right now. One he rarely uses intentionally, but mostly because he spends a lot of time in the human world where it can injure and suffocate weaker humans.
But it seems for all appearances to work, because she wobbles to attention and takes off at full speed.
He glances around them and then at you, giving a very slight shrug, because he is absolutely, totally bullshitting his way through this. And if it doesn’t work, they’ll probably have to go back to running whether he wanted to or not. But maybe his act was a good enough answer for what he’s thinking.
"You want to talk..?" You're right; he's not onboard. He's bewildered to say the least, possibly offended and outraged if he thinks about it for long. You're going to forgive them; he's almost certain of it. You want to talk it out, come up with another agreement they can break, more terms for them to violate, and you're going to leave here hoping it fixed everything. His disapproval starts to show on his features, starts to peel lip back to bare teeth, but then you're snatching up that shinigami and the expression closes off before it fully forms. He blinks the betrayal from his features and forces them to settle into vaguely annoyed but directionless firm lines. Whether he likes this or not, to openly oppose you in this moment, when they're in the midst of shinigami and you're clearly trying to make something happen, could look like a crack in their cohesion. It could be enough to get them killed or captured.
So he plays along, or at the very least, he keeps his mouth shut while you're questioning that woman, and keeps an eye on those around them, trying to pretend it's completely normal for a hollow to waltz into the first devision. He growls lowly when a man with a drawn sword gets a little too close for comfort, but doesn't raise his weapon.
The release of your spiritual pressure surprises him, but a barely there twitch to his expression is his only tell that he even notices is. He doesn't dare follow suit, keeping his close and quiet. It seems a ridiculous charade. He knows there are shinigami that look strange, not quite like humans, but even without a mask, more than a cursory glance is all it takes to see he's not shinigami. You've really put him in an uncomfortable situation and he has no answers for what that situation even is.

The World Nation would face off against the White Fang to bring about an end to all conflict between the Colonies and Earth. The plan had called for the bitter end of the last bastion of the old regime, Treize Khushrenada. However, as with every play on the stage of war, the actors have chosen to adlib. Effectively throwing the course of history off the rails, the director finds himself faced with a new road to choose.

M/M, M/F, Duo Maxwell/Quatre Raberba Winner; Treize Khushrenada/Quatre Raberba Winner; Treize Khushrenada/Duo Maxwell; Duo Maxwell/Hilde Schbeiker

Hilde waved goodbye as she left and Duo went to look for Treize and Quatre. What the hell was wrong with him. His body seemed to be saying yes but his mind was definitely not in that space at all. What the everlasting hell was going on. He wanted to see her again but why?
Treize passed him a picture of tree frogs, apparently feeling the confusion as Duo half jogged through the aquarium to catch back up. What the hell. Just what the hell.
It took him a while to get there, but the moment he got close, Quatre saw him, beamed a happy smile and the link opened up with a rush and he was surrounded again in emotional warmth. It was addictive and a relief, and there wasn’t, there wasn’t any recrimination from either of them. Just run off and see an old flame, it’s cool, we’ll be here when you get back vibes.

Treize remembered the discussion of gunpowder residue on his head; it was one of the things John had been livid about after everything, and unable to explain any more than Treize had at the time. Seeing it written down… was something else. Treize closed the book over his finger, gently tapping it on his thigh as he looked up at Quatre.
“The first hot chocolate of the season,” Quatre said sitting down next to him, comfort flowing over the link. “I really wanted something sweet.” He paused. “I can feel something is…oh.” He noticed the book in Treize’s hand.
“Adding to the list of things we need to probably talk about,” he said quietly, contemplating it as he reached with his other hand to take the cocoa. “Have you written everything up?”

Dissecting Red Spider Arc-The arc that non shipper find it disturbingly (For those who mind) Shippy
I’ve been watching gintama for the past couple of weeks. And since lately I encounter sleeping problem, lets turn this energy to talk about one of my favorite arc. The controversial arc that invite polarized opinion among Gintama fans.
For  Tsukuyo fans, Red spider is a certain favorite together with Yoshiwara in flame and Courtesan of the nation.  This arc fleshed her background and deepen her bond with yorozuya, especially Gintoki
For casual fans, this arc is the first time they see a glimpse of gintoki past, The first time  gintoki in a berserk mode, the first time he act by his own volition. And somehow he appeared like a true shonen hero saving the heroine.
By then tsukuyo was far from heroine status. She just recently introduced a couple episodes back. Yoshiwara in flame focused more on Hinowa and seita story. But Tsukuyo already  rose in ranking because her unique character design (in sacchan word, she has a lot of ‘hooks’) aside being badass in general.
For naysayers, Red spider arc is that arc that destroy Tsukuyo character. Reduced her into damsel in distress, mere love interest and what not. Of course its people’s right to interpret a work however they see fit. People enjoying entertainment in a different way afterall. Maybe they are a strict feminist type who wanted a true xena like character?  disappointed when a strong female charachter ended up saved by the male hero? (Tho I wonder why they don’t care with preceeding events where Tsukuyo saved gintoki a couple of time)
The other would say this arc is such a big jump from previous arcs. A sudden transition they would say. And heck they’re right. Red spider arc  Is different compared to other serious arc before it.  Its lustrously dark, whispery,  not much emphasis on family nor comedy, not much explosion nor machismo.
And more importantly, its uncharacteristically Intimate.
What do you expect? It took placein Yoshiwara-The Red light District- afterall.
The curtain raised with Jiraiya, the ex teacher of Tsukuyo, the main villain of this arc, On his post coital glow pondering about his object of creation. After enjoying the service of yoshiwara, He looked at the moon and probably feeling another rush of excitement reminiscing his dear beautiful student and the plan he’d set for her.
Tumblr media
Not long after, Tsukuyo feel someone dangerous infiltrating her city. She and her Hyakka squad has been working hard to push down the crime that on the rise after the city lost its night king. Nearing their limit, she turned to Yorozuya, wondering if they can help with the drug problem.
Somehow, Tsukuyo and Gintoki teamed up just the two of them investigating the shady group with spider tattoo trademark. The result was assortment of classic romantic comedy skit : To-Love-Ru type of ‘accident’ and pretend couple.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok at this point its just natural that people start to see the two as potential couple. When they bicker they’d scream their heart silly, forgetting  whatever  adult persona they had in mind. Yet when the time come, they play along really well with the others bullshit act. They are on the same frequency already.
Back to the story, Later, they found out the drug lord is Jiraiya who apparently the long dead master (teacher who take care of  protegee under their wing) of Tsukuyo. With his unique ability he nearly killed Gintoki and captured Tsukuyo.
Some Naysayers disappointed at this point because Tsukuyo who supposedly a good fighter became useless in front of jiraiya. Ok let me use this opportunity to explain the technicality of how that’s possible.
She was shocked.
It was a surprise attack
Jiraiya, knew his student fighting ability the best and knew how to immobilize her.
Even Gintoki Almost killed because of his weird technique
She used the last of her strength to saved gintoki from jiraiya’s final blow.
“Huh? But gintoki didn’t turned into a useless mess when he met his long dead master alive?”
Lol what are you smoking? The old master  would split gintoki’s head from his body if not because Kagura’s help.  Also Utsuro/Shouyo goal was to crushed the rebels and nothing to do with Gintoki. While Jiraiya’s goal was to capture Tsukuyo. Understand the difference?
Ok now that its out of my system lets continue.
Later Gintoki learned about the nature of Jiraiya and what this student-master relationship actually are from Zenzou. She-who believed every word of him and followed his foot step- was his creation and his prey at the same time. This method is sickening for Gintoki who loved his master to death.
Tumblr media
For Gintoki a master should be more or less like shoyo. Strong, kind, wise and selfless. The kind of sage who gave his life for his student. Its infuriating to learn that a good women like tsukuyo has a psychotic monster as a master.
“see..Its not because of Tsukuyo that gintoki willingly revert to his shiroyasa self. Its because the master-student thingie that made him mad af”
Was the stuff I read from naysayers.  And for this one, I kinda agree. The main thing that infuriate gintoki about Jiraiya was that he used  master student relationship for some psychotic goal. As we know later, whenever topic about his own master brought on, Gintoki turned into a different beast.
Even I can see this arc’s intent beside telling tsukuyo’s past and cementing her as one of the recurrent character was also to foreshadow  Shoyo related arcs in the future.
However among all of that baggage brought by this arc, theres this one dialogue that caught my attention.
G : "give up already, theres nothing in your web. This entire time there was only a pathetic little spider spinning thread into sky while gazing at distant moon"
J : "What are you babbling about?I already knew that long ago"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The ones who ascociate Tsukuyo with the moon are the one who cherish her like hinowa and the hyakka squad  or the bastard who obsessed at her like Jiraiya. It’s a secret nickname people gave to her beside Shinigami Tayuu / courtesan of death. Wt
At that  moment, Gintoki  speak about what Tsukuyo is to Jiraiya existence : A moon to a little insignificant spider. This confirm that Gintoki understand Tsukuyo’s epithet-wich means at that point of story he is familiar toward  Tsukuyo more than the viewers aware of.
To add, This is probably just me but the way he said that stuff about Jiraiya, whispering  while gazing at the sky, as if its applied to him aswell.
Well, I just think that because throughout the fight he keep rambling about being on the same level as Jiraiya.
G: Do you know how to survive the spider nest? By eating the spider.
G : She is stronger than you ever be. A coward like me is enough for a coward like you
To Fight Jiraiya, Gintoki  drew parrarel between himself and Jiraiya. And its not impossible that parrarel extended until that moment.
I  came to the conclusion At that moment Gintoki  already  admire Tsukuyo. Wether  her virtue, her  face, her quirk  or her phisycal attractiveness, it could be anything. The fact is Tsukuyo basically embodies everything gintoki like in a women.
However because of his mindset and his self sabotaging lifestyle, he understood Jiraiya’s point of view of admiring an existence that is too good for them.
The episode ended with Tsukuyo learning his master’s past  and accepting his flaw after killing him. The moment when Gintoki implied that he would never be a good student to their master as tsukuyo is pretty touching too.
The last episode of this arc is a short one with majorly comedic skits. Another To Love Ru accident. And  a classic wingman setup to force a couple to be alone together.
Lol too much couply stuff happening in this arc.
Tumblr media
Later after the crazy terminator drunken stupor, Tsukuyo asked gintoki if she didn’t has this scar, would her life be any different?
At this point I realize the pain endured by her, even though she said she was fine, physically and mentally, she actually struggling with the realization that all her past was something different than she perceived to be, that rather than genuine student master relationship, its an elaborate plan by her master to kill himself.
Its like realizing that we are adopted after all this time living in a loving family. From the surface it might not changed anything because its all in the past, But it changed everything within. It changed the foundation  of what we stood upon all these time.
Tumblr media
Gintoki then assured her that her life is one that she choose, No one make her choose that. wether it’s  driven by a psychotic manipulation or a trust in a teacher who wanted make her strong. The life is still hers to behold and cherish
Gintoki further assured that her face Is not ugly, Its pretty face carrying clean soul. Or something to that effect (since translation vary)
Tumblr media
As you see “Soul” is the overarching concept on Gintama. Its like “Adventure” on One piece and “Hard Work” On Naruto. It’s the Idea that the shounen protagonist holds dear.
Shoyo first teaching to Gintoki was  how to protect his soul. In the war Gintoki choose to kill Shoyo to save his master’s soul. Means he choose Shoyo over his friends and himself. In effect, one of the friend’s soul was corrupted. While Gintoki turned himself into a vessel  whose purpose was merely to protect people he deemed fit and procasinating on his own growth.
Gintoki speak about Tsukuyo’s soul in her face is another testament of how deep their trust and bond has formed.
Even though Gintoki has innate ability to peek into the human character, its not his fashion to directly address it. He usually find a roundabout way to make the others understand that they are being understood. But with Tsukuyo, everything he do about her  is direct.
“Don’t be a stranger, Lean on me, laugh with me and cry with me. I’d be there, cry and laugh with you ” Said Gintoki to tsukuyo.

The Gintoki who often avoid emotional baggage from a stranger.
In conclusion, Red Spider Arc is such an awesome arc. The vibe is cool, the soundtrack is awesome and its has an intense emotionally charged action.
It is also the breeding ground for gintsu shipper, wich probably gonna make some part of fandom upset. But it is what it is and we can just enjoy or choose not to.

Butterfly Wings [2]

Fandom: Bleach
Characters: Ichimaru Gin, Aizen Sousuke
Warnings: Threat of Violence, Dubious Consent, Oral Sex
Word Count: 1.9k
[Part 1]
When no more uncharacteristic, unsettling incidents occurred, even when the two men were alone together, Gin allowed himself to relax slightly. As he'd hoped, Rangiku hadn't come to Fifth Company, instead taking a position in the Tenth. Still, even though it wasn't the worst case scenario, it wasn't the best, either. If she'd been able to join the First or Second… but as he'd truthfully admitted to Aizen, she was nothing more than an ordinary, average shinigami. Shiba-taichou didn't seem like he would be an impediment to Aizen's plan, but Gin had secretly resolved to cut him down if he ever got in the way, before she could be exposed to danger.
Since she'd graduated from the academy, though, Rangiku seemed to have much more free time, which she sometimes spent trying to cajole Gin into spending more time with her and others. For the most part, he managed to brush off her invitations with vague excuses about work, all the while being acutely aware of warm brown eyes following him. Aizen already knew that she was the only person that Gin really talked to besides himself, so Gin struggled to maintain the illusion that he didn't have any particular feelings for her. If his fukutaichou seized upon the idea that she was his weakness, Gin had no idea what he might do. From what he knew of the other man, he was just as likely to pick her for his experiments as he was to promise Gin that she'd be perfectly safe from them. Still, he couldn't refuse all of her invitations, so he'd occasionally end up on the sidelines as Rangiku simply celebrated life while he quietly accumulated others' discomfort and distrust despite being a model shinigami.
He was returning from one such gathering when the soft grinding of a door sliding open caught his attention. Looking in the direction of the noise, he saw Aizen standing in the doorway of his rooms, a freshly lit taper held in a candle holder. Once their eyes met, the older man disappeared into his quarters, leaving the door open. A quick glance around told him that nobody else seemed to be present--it was late, after all--and the only light in the compound came from the fukutaichou's room, since everyone else was likely asleep. Silently, he obeyed the unspoken order, following the flickering light until he paused on the threshold of what was clearly Aizen's private quarters. The man himself lounged casually on a futon, his robes draped loosely around his body.
"Come in and sit down," Aizen suggested, his tone no different than if they had been in his office. Gingerly, Gin stepped into the room and knelt beside his commanding officer. For a brief moment, a sly smile slid across Aizen's face as he reached out to clasp Gin's thin, pale wrist. Gin's mind had barely begun to process what was happening when it froze at the touch of cold steel at his throat. Suddenly, the bloodlust in the room was nearly suffocating, and he held himself deathly still, certain that any movement would be his last.
"Aizen-fukutaichou? What're ya doing?" he asked quietly after a long minute of silence, once he was certain his voice wouldn't shake. The feeling of overpowering dread lessened slightly, though it didn't dissipate, and the keen blade continued to rest against his neck. Even if he'd been inclined to reach for his own weapon, he couldn't do so without alerting the other man, whose hand remained loosely encircling his wrist.
"What does it look like to you, Ichimaru-kun?" The more formal method of address, which Aizen hadn't used in years, confused Gin. Of course, that wasn't to say that he couldn't think of a reason for this whole scenario, but he would never admit to it out loud. Still, he had a feeling that his usual blasé attitude wouldn't fly in this situation, either, so he chose to remain silent, studying Aizen's expression even as the other man studied his. In the end, the older man was the one to break the silence with a light chuckle, withdrawing his blade and setting it aside before releasing his grip on his subordinate.
"I apologize for that, Gin," he said, full of sincere contrition that Gin didn't believe for a moment. "I'd only wanted to surprise you. You're quite skilled at hiding your feelings behind that mask, so it's always a pleasure to see something else. And, of course, I'd also hoped that I could see your eyes again. Most people seem to think they're red, you know. It's an understandable mistake, given your coloration. Is there a reason you don't open them normally?"
"Ya said yourself that ya didn't want others seein' them, right?" Gin replied with a smile, the aforementioned mask back in place over the turmoil of his thoughts. "But even before that, this is just how my eyes are. Walkin' around with 'em wide open would be like ya walkin' around with yours shut. 'least, long as I can remember, I've always been like this."
"You're quite obliging, aren't you? I really do hope you're not this way with anyone else, or I might have to kill them." Though it sounded like a good-natured joke, there was an edge to the statement that made him wonder how serious Aizen was. Deliberately, the fukutaichou stretched into a sitting position, placing a hand on Gin's shoulder and pushing him down. When he started to loosen the younger man's shihakushou, everything clicked together.
Gin wasn't so innocent as to be unaware of sex, though he'd never engaged in it himself. Nor was he ignorant of the fact that, especially in the worse parts of Rukongai, rapes sometimes occurred. He'd seen the looks of some men when they saw Rangiku, leers that filled him with a cold rage that was only sated when their hot blood spilled at his feet. But he'd never considered that Aizen might want this from him, whether from actual desire or as another test of loyalty. He didn't have to fake the tremor in his hands as he reached up to wrap them around Aizen's wrists in a reflection of their earlier positions, not pushing the man away, just holding them. Still, it was enough to make the fukutaichou pause, looking up at a pale, drawn face devoid of its usual smile.
"Is this your first time? Or is it just that you're opposed to having me as your partner? If you don't want to do this, you only need to tell me so."
"It… it ain't that I don't like ya. I'm just surprised. I don't think there's ever been anyone who wanted me like this. And I respect ya, fukutaichou, but I dunno if I'm capable of lovin' anyone, either. I toldja before, didn't I? I don't have a heart. So I don't want ya t' end up disappointed, or hurt."
Aizen laughed, a warm, soft sound, as his right hand shifted to rest on Gin's chest. "I don't think you could ever disappoint me, Gin. For now, I'll be satisfied with just your body while I try to capture your heart, if you'll give me the chance. I think you sell yourself short, though. You're quite beautiful, in an unconventional way; I can't be the first person who has ever wanted to do this to you."
He leaned down to press a soft kiss against Gin's lips, his tongue lightly probing. Hesitantly, the younger man released his hold on the other man, though his body remained taut with tension until Aizen pulled back, leaving a breath between their faces.
"Don't worry, I'll be gentle… this time, at least. I'm glad that I'm your first, so I don't need to break any bad habits," Aizen murmured. The words sent a chill through Gin, and a dark smile spread over Aizen's face as he felt the brief tremor. When Gin didn't make any moves to resist or push him away, a flash of satisfaction appeared in Aizen's eyes. Slowly and deliberately, he continued to undress his subordinate, tracing the defined muscles under the thin, pale skin as they were exposed. Despite the harsh training he must have gone through to graduate from the academy in just one year, Gin's skin was remarkably smooth, with few traces of scars. But for each one that he did have, Aizen's fingers traced its edges, lingering for a long moment before continuing their work.
Finally, Gin was fully disrobed, and Aizen sat back to take all of him in. The younger man's body seemed tense enough to snap, unable to conceal his nervousness laced with a touch of fear. Again, Aizen smiled, his eyes fixed on Gin's face, as he grasped Gin's cock. The touch made the silver-haired man flinch, and a shudder ran through his body as Aizen began to stroke him into an erection.
"Relax. I want you to enjoy this," Aizen murmured, every inch the considerate lover. Gin's body was slow to respond to his ministrations, but it eventually did, and he flinched again as the older man lowered his mouth over his engorged head. The tension between them changed as Aizen's tongue swirled around him, his dexterous fingers playing along his shaft with an ever-changing pattern. He seemed determined to keep his subordinate on the very edge of ecstasy as ripples of pleasure spread through the young body.
"Aizen… Aizen-san… please…" Gin wasn't even sure what he was asking for, and just when it seemed that he would be pulled under and drowned, the other man swallowed him deeper, just before Gin's hips thrust upward and he emptied himself.
Once he'd fallen limp, Aizen pulled himself off, crawling back up the pale body to clamp his lips over Gin's in another kiss. A trickle of something warm, salty, and a little bitter slid into his mouth, and Gin's first instinct was to spit it out, except that Aizen had drawn back and placed a finger over the younger man's lips, a light touch that forbade him from opening his mouth until he had swallowed it.
"That's good, Gin," Aizen praised him softly. "And you taste exactly as I imagined. Go ahead and rest; we'll talk more in the morning."
When he moved to pull the covers off his futon and over the younger man, Gin sat up, protesting as he drew his discarded clothes around himself.
"I can't letcha do that, Aizen-fukutaichou. Ya need t' sleep too. I can just go back t' my room. 'sides, it prob'ly wouldn't be good for your reputation, if people found out."
"They won't find out, just like with the former third seat. It would please me if you stayed, Gin." The reminder of the incident that had brought them together made Gin fall silent. He still wanted to ask how the man had pulled off that cover-up, but he wasn't sure if Aizen would answer him truthfully at this point. Yes, it would probably be better to wait a little longer: with this change in their relationship, he had a chance to establish himself more firmly in Aizen's plans and gain his trust.
If Aizen knew what he was thinking, he gave no sign of it. Instead, apparently taking the silence for assent, he nodded toward his futon. "It'll be more comfortable there. Don't worry about me; there's still some work I need to finish up, but I'll join you later. I won't do anything else tonight, I promise."
Hesitantly, Gin obeyed, rearranging the blanket on the futon before lying down. He watched quietly as Aizen worked by the flickering light of the candle, listening to the soft scratch of his pen. Eventually, exhaustion claimed him, and he drifted into sleep with the older man's profile burned into his eyes.

Seeing that reigai icon has got me wondering if you have any headcanons for reigai Hitsugaya. Anything around his bonds with his fellow reigai or any of the original shinigami (either his original or the other shinigami originals)?
Tumblr media
I’ll give you some facts regarding mine instead of Headcanons since I’m someone who needs interactions to create some willy nilly to learn more about them, myself. But before I start, thank you for showing interest in my gremlin of a mod soul. Means a lot!- Okay! so, to those who have seen the Reigai filler arc of the anime, they are aware that Reigai’s are artificial mod souls created by Kageroza whose sole purpose was to capture Nozomi, and furthermore, destroy their originals and take over their position of power pretending to be them. My Reigai, specifically, has no interest in Nozomi - In fact, he wasn’t meant to be activated at all -but during Ichigo’s fight against Ouko - The violent turbulence caused by the erratic Reiatsu’s of both individual’s caused grounds to burst and shake - more so the 12th division’s section where he had been stored for future use after his current copy, the one Byakuya killed, had failed.
Thus after his release, his sole aim in life is to destroy his original, Hitsugaya Toshiro, and he’ll go to any lengths to achieve it. He is completely unaware of any other surviving Reigai’s for those who had remained within Kageroza’s lab have since then been eradicated. He often hides in the outskirts of the Soul Society, striking when the opportunity presents itself, and furthermore, jubilantly cause trouble for his original: cause havoc, mishaps, anything that can and will, tarnish the other’s reputation. He won’t admit it, but he’s very lonely - he will unconsciously seek and garner his other half’s attention. - and having identical skills as said other half - he is well capable of keeping himself alive and undetected. However, after seventeen months, everything becomes much, much, difficult for his original’s appearance changes drastically whilst theirs remained the same. forcing him to formulate strategies. albeit before then, there is a distinct dissimilarity between them. Reigai is somewhat shorter than our Toshiro.
Tumblr media
Could be just the way they’re standing, but regardless, mine’s a tad shorter. more distinct differences are that Reigai is extremely open in expressing his emotions. He grins, he laughs, he growls. - unlike his original, he isn’t all stoicism, he’s very outgoing despite his bout of violence. He can literally be considered a mini-zaraki. He loves teasing, taunting, his opponents in combat much like he did when he fought Shuuhei and them in the world of the living. in spite of such, however, he does also have similar traits with his Original. One major being that he wants to protect Hinamori. She is very important to him and despises his Original for lacking the strength to do so - a reason he desires to take his place among several others. He also wants to belong. he wants Toshiro to acknowledge him as a living person and not some wretched creation.  Other random facts are that he loves candied beans, dumplings, and Soba noodles. He isn’t fussy about tea - he isn’t friendly, but he feels.  - as for your question about his relations with other Reigai’s, I wish I could give you something, anything,  but I lack the interactions. Maybe in the near future, I can get a few of my friends to pull their versions out so we can cause some Reigai chaos and thus give me inspiration C’:

Eager. So eager. So easily that straight back melts and bends, toward him. So easy the calm, lucid voice frizzles and purrs. But no. This is not a cat. This is a beast. Swirling under the warm and soft skin is a power on a whole other level the other lieutenants could hardly dream of. So he chose him. Plucked him out of the crowd and planted him in his yard. A flower in his vase. He never forgets that it is carnivorous. But some days. Some days he lets himself get close, to touch the petals, get a whiff of its sweet aroma, to hold the flower in his hand.
His hand slips inside the shihakusho, under the white under-clothing, cupping the right breast; fingers resting against the firm warmness of the pectoral muscle's edge. Not over the heart, no. But close enough to feel its beats. His other hand slides down the slope of Sousuke's arm to the hand that grips so tightly around the ink brush. He takes it out of Sousuke's hand. Setting it aside, his fingers come back to wrap around Sousuke's wrist.
"Yeah~?" He mouths the edge of his jaw, coaxing his fukutaicho to turn his head. Teeth. A faint grin. "Take a break. Work ain't gonna grow legs an' run away." Sousuke has nice legs. He kisses him on the mouth this time.
this was still so new for aizen, so -- new. suffice it to say the newness of it had him shivering quietly in his own skin, the way it had when there'd been fingers and skin, of golden hair veiling him, of his eyes glazed with a hunger he could not contain. it still felt rare enough, fresh enough, that the younger shinigami could not help but arch slightly as his teeth pushed tight together, a tightening of his jaw ensuing with the sensation of breath on skin. how his head shifted slightly, as if to turn to look at the man whom claimed him for his own. it was no secret that aizen was considered to be perfect. he had good marks in the academy, good marks in everything -- always smiling and kind and polite towards others, willing to lend his hand, his assistance, even if a task seemed menial. nothing to blotch his record; studious and industrious he was, a keen acumen at his disposal helping him put together pieces of a puzzle some did miss sometimes.
the first time those eyes had met his as he’d stood in his academy blues, he’d seen those eyes narrow faintly, felt the focus of the captain’s attention - even as he’d found himself staring in kind. it was him -- it was him, the same captain that had saved him a few years back. he’d wanted to thank him for it, but had never managed to do so. and now, he suspected, his beloved captain might not believe him. yet, if aizen sousuke was dangerous, so was the man currently draped against his back. he’d seen it - for all of the lackadaisical nature that the current captain of the gobantai displayed, aizen had caught it on their missions together, in how he could step forth with commanding presence. ah - how fast his heart could beat in his chest when he saw the playfulness slide away and watched as his captain took matters in due course. how easy it was for him to fall in at his side, a yessir! on his mouth at the commands.
was it not enough that he’d use his claws, his fangs, for his captain’s sake? he was more than content to do so, after all. aizen certainly nosed around in his spare time, heard of the captain prior to his own, of others. the third seat, though -- aizen wasn’t fond of him. the man seemed ... distasteful. but here he was now, feeling fingers sliding upon his skin, muscles growing tense for a moment and then a wrist pressing against his sternum, the pulsepoint able to capture the drumming thrum of the muscle in the lieutenant’s chest. had he ever expected to become so ranked on the day he’d been plucked from the academy? he had applied for division five and only that. he had known where he wanted to go. and now here he sat, breath teasing his skin, lips brushing along his face, as if mapping things out.
❝ but-- ❞ didn’t you expect me to get this finished up--? that was what he wanted to say, even as his head turned, brown eyes meeting amber -- no, they looked more gray today. no, olive -- the grin told him much and he sought to straighten up at least a little. he was sure his captain wanted him to squirm and, at this rate -- well, he would be. it was undignified. yet every time those fingers pressed to his skin, aizen could not deny the feeling of sensation that cracked over his nervous system, the feeling of warm that flowed syrupy in his bones and his gut. how he tried to straighten, to insist that he had work to finish -- why else would shinji have putt such a large stack of paper on his desk and for a second those brown eyes behind the glasses narrowed at his captain.
did you do this on purpose so you could get your hands on me? the look seemed to say.
then lips, a mouth on his own, leaving aizen to not protest the absence of the brush, not to protest the fingers around his wrist. those fingers around his wrist drew a far more intent shudder than he wanted to admit to. he knew what that gesture meant and his lips parted slightly under the pressure, daring to start leaning in slightly. and oh -- how he could have said that their division’s flower was a pointed thing. that it was proof of what they could be. the lily of the valley was a poisonous thing, after all. he remembered speaking of it once to his captain, stroking the bell with his fingertip, of absently sliding his finger within to feel the stamen. how he had observed the blotch of yellow afterwards on the pad before looking up to see something in the eyes that focused on him. how he’d smiled at the look -- it seemed almost hungry and baffled in equal measure.
            aizen always smiled.
but lips -- lips on his and he shifted his free hand upwards, daring to seek out those strands of blonde, daring to tangle his hand through them as his heartbeat thundered against the inside of shinji’s wrist, as if to offer up so much more that could become inspired from him.

Anon... anon... “a little dark” does not cover this XD All joking aside, though, I love you for sending this. I’d write a whole fic on this tbh, and I would enjoy it. I’m actually really, really tempted to...
Idk, another author I follow does this thing where they group-fund commission fics, like once they reach a certain goal, they’ll write it, and honestly that sounds fun?????? Cause honestly I WANT to write this, but also I’m busy and stressed enough as it is that I probably should make it a commission. Again though, no idea if I’ll actually do that. I’ll just write out how something like that would go, and if enough people like the idea, maybe we can turn it into something? :3c
If anyone who reads this wants to see this idea as a full-length fic, please say something! I’d really like to gauge the interest here~
. . .
Halibel:
-She’s by far the most rational in dealing with the situation, and also holds up the longest against the stress. In terms of initial captivity, she’s on edge, paying careful attention to the Shinigamis’ every move and trying to find some way to escape. Even as she’s fighting to find an opportunity or upper hand, though, she’s realizing very quickly that there’s no getting out of this.
-The physical torture is something she’s strong against. Pain is something that any Hollow is well-accustomed to, and she’s not one to break easily under stress. Halibel holds up a long time against the experiments and torture, but when she does start to break, it’s bad. Initially, she gets testy, angry, lashing out at the other two because she hurts so much she can’t help it. But as the stress keeps getting to her, she develops almost a protective streak for both of them, growing attached simply because she has nothing else.
-With Nnoitra and Szayel, she takes something of a caretaker role from the beginning. Because she’s by far the most stable and sympathetic person there, she’s kind of the glue holding them together at first, as much as the other two hate that. Over time, though, she starts getting sort of weird about looking after them. All she really is have left is being the protector to the two who are in a much worse mental state than she is. At her most broken, she takes out her stress by trying desperately to keep those around her safe.
Nnoitra:
-Mayuri is going to have to do something pretty major to keep Nnoitra from making utter chaos. As in, he’ll fight with everything he has in the hopes that either it’ll do some good or someone will kill him and get this whole mess over with. Of course, every part of that backfires, and Nnoitra winds up either carefully restrained or missing some pieces.
-Pain and physical torture do almost nothing to him... at least at first. Nnoitra has a ridiculously high pain tolerance and no fear of death, so it’s difficult to crack him that way. What winds up getting to him is the psychological-- feelings of helplessness and weakness that dig right into the most vulnerable parts of him. WIth his tendencies towards suicidal and self-destructive behavior, to begin with, he breaks fast, which most likely manifests in the form of an extremely violent episode that gets him in a much worse situation than before.
-With Halibel and Szayel, he stays as distant as possible. At first, it’s because he doesn’t want anything to do with them. Very quickly, though, it becomes a matter of not wanting anyone to see how weak he’s getting. Being seen in pain is Nnoitra’s worst nightmare, and he balks horribly at Halibel’s attempts at keeping both of them in one piece. He’s more angry with Szayel than anything-- the man is supposed to be a genius; why can’t he get them out of this? In the end, though, Nnoitra is reduced to cold, distant, and wishing for death.
Szayel:
-He’s frantic. The fact alone that he’s been captured is enough to have Szayel fraying at the seams. All of his usual calculating and attentive behavior starts slipping right from the beginning. It’s hard for him to think straight when he’s preoccupied with the idea of ending up in a specimen jar, and honestly, Halibel is going to have to find a way to calm him down before he hurts himself.
-He’s honestly the one who takes it the worst. For all Szayel’s conducted these experiments on his own, being on the other side of the scalpel kind of breaks him. The feeling of helplessness coupled with the pain and psychological torment have him breaking fast. He gets panicky and paranoid, mental state deteriorating the more he realizes that he really does have no control left. He can see a lot of the experiments coming, which kind of just makes everything worse. The constant stress gets to him physically as well.
-With the other two, Szayel is at first condescending and dismissive. This is largely in part due to how panicked he is, but the behavior really does only get him in more trouble. As soon as he starts cracking, though, he’s reduced to finding a nice corner to curl up in, cover his head, and try not to think about how awful his existence has become. Seeing Nnoitra deteriorate does very bad thinks to Szayel’s mindset, but, interestingly enough, he winds up responding fairly well to Halibel’s stress-fueled protective streak.

I hoped you would reblog that! :3 A fic after Aizen arc, where Ichigo DOES NOT lose his powers, and seireitei is in full party mode. Someone asks where Rukia is. Renji's like "she went to get snacks". and Orihime, tipsy as hell, just blurts out "Of course you know where she is! You're so cute together!!" and everyone is either like "yeah true" or "WAIT SINCE WHEN?". aka the dorks get peer pressured into realizing they should date already By Everyone. Feat. Women's Society paparazzi.
Hey, so you know how always spend a ton of time on my really long fics and don’t post them until I’m all the way done so that I can make everything internally consistent, etc, etc? What would it look like, as your therapist would say, if I just wrote some nonsense and posted it? And if I feel like writing more chapters later, maybe I will? To post something with a 1/? Also, what if was Canon, Never Heard of Her? and also full of things that do absolutely do not belong in Soul Society (like potato salad?) What would that look like?
Anyway, here you go @unohanadaydreams. I’m sorry it took me so long to do this and also I also messed up your prompt a bunch (I figure that everyone knows how bad Renji has it for Rukia and wouldn’t rag him about it, so I switched ‘em), but I think I captured the spirit of it, along with the spirit of that filler episode where everyone makes movies.
Enough! Enough intro! Here it is!
Heroes of the Hueco Mundo Invasion – In Love!!
“HELLLLLLOOOOOOOOO, SQUAD 10!” Inoue Orihime yodeled, flinging herself into the courtyard, where a barbeque of epic proportions was gearing up.
“Orihime!” Matsumoto screamed.
“YO!” Kurosaki Ichigo announced, stumbling in behind her, arms raised victoriously. “What has two thumbs and just saved Soul Society?”
“This guy!” Orihime squealed, trying to point her thumbs at Ichigo as he also tried to point his thumbs at himself.
Ichigo squinted at the hands waving around his general vicinity. “How many thumbs do I have? Hey, hey, Ishida?! Did I grow any extra arms while I was fighting Aizen?”
Sado Yasutora suddenly plunged through the gate behind them panting and out of breath.
“Are you two drunk?” Captain Hitsugaya demanded.
“My new best friend Captain Doctor Unohana Retsu gave me the good stuff, because I am the Hero of Three Worlds, possibly Four,” Ichigo explained.
“Painkillers,” Chad gasped. “He’s on a very high dose of painkillers. It’s…okay… I'm… keeping an eye on him. He’s still really fast, though.”
“What about Orihime?” Rukia demanded, from where she was trying to sculpt a bowl of potato salad into a diorama of herself defeating Rudabone. Or possibly Chappy. “She wasn’t even hurt.”
“She was very nervous about Kurosaki,” Uryuu explained, sauntering up next to Chad. “So Lieutenant Kotetsu gave her some of Captain Unohana’s home-brewed ginger beer, which was… allegedly non-alcoholic?”
“I feel so powerful right now!” Orihime chimed in. “Like my body is filled with thousands of dubstepping bees!”
“I literally cannot feel any part of my body, right now,” Ichigo chipped in, “but at least I didn’t lose my Soul Reaper powers while performing the Final Getsuga, like some sort of contrived plot hook.”
“Why is it called the Final Getsuga, then?” Orihime asked.
“Beats me!” Ichigo hooted.
“It’s because Europe had just released ‘The Final Countdown’ when I invented it, and that song slaps!” Isshin shouted from somewhere near the kegs.
“DAD!” Ichigo shouted. “Dad, I have something to tell you! Also, Rukia, you are like my other dad, if I had two dads!”
“I am not,” Rukia protested.
“Maybe Byakuya is like my other dad, then, which would make you my sister.”
“I am definitely not,” Byakuya protested. (Did you, gentle reader, think that Byakuya would not attend one of Squad 10’s infamous keggers on the occasion of Aizen’s defeat? You were incorrect. Byakuya is a great fan of Matsumoto’s guac.)
“Listen, Dads,” Ichigo insisted. “I defeated Aizen and I think that definitely means I should get to borrow the car on Saturday, but also, Orihime proposed to me and I said yes , we are now engaged to go to the movies the next weekend that we are back home. Which is why I need the car, you see.”
Orihime dabbed.
“My precious son, I am so proud of you!” Isshin announced, throwing his arms wide. “But you can take the bus to the movies like a normal teenager.”
“Way to go, Orihime!” Rukia congratulated, abandoning her potato salad to perform an elaborate handshake/high-five routine with Orihime.
“This is so exciiiiitiiiiiing!” Matsumoto wailed.
Ise Nanao sidled up to Kusajishi Yachiru. “Madam President,” the Vice-President of the Shinigami Women’s Association intoned gravely. “Are you thinking what I am thinking?”
Hisagi Shuuhei sidled up to the other side of Kusajishi Yachiru. “Are you thinking about a special Seireitei Bulletin feature, presented in cooperation with the Shinigami Women’s Association–”
“–'Heroes of the Hueco Mundo Invasion – In Love!!’” Nanao and Hisagi chorused in unison.
Yachiru blinked. To be honest, she had mostly been thinking about the red bean dumplings she knew Captain Hitsugaya had hidden somewhere earlier, and had not been paying much attention to any of the goings-on up until this point. This may seem to stretch belief, but you have to understand, gentle reader, that this amount of shouting represented a pretty typical day at Squad 11.
Yachiru bounded up to the former ryouka. “Hey, Pencil!” she demanded. “Are you and Muscles dating?”
“Chad!” Ichigo yelped, grabbing at his own hair. “You sneaky person!”
“Uryuu!” Orihime gawped, clapping her hands over her cheeks. “You sly dog!”
“No,” Uryuu corrected stiffly.
“You are mistaken,” Chad added.
“He’s way out of my league,” they said at the same time.
There was a long silence.
Uryuu looked up at Chad out of the corner of his eye.
Chad looked down at Uryuu out of the corner of his eye.
Ichigo was making tiny, excited claps.
Orihime was bouncing.
“Doooooo iiiiiiiiittttttt,” Captain Kyouraku said out of the side of his mouth, pretending like nobody could tell it was him. Everybody could tell it was him.
Rukia straightened up to her full height. “Do it, you dorkuses. The Women’s Association will pay for it. If these two dummies can get their act together, you haven’t got any excuse.” She glanced over at Ichigo and Orihime, who were gazing longingly at one another, and promptly did a horrified double take.
“Errr…” Uryuu waffled.
“I understand if you’re uncomfortable participating in a Soul Society-related activity,” Chad offered an easy way out.
Uryuu opened his mouth, looked at Chad, and closed it again slowly. “I’ll take their money and waste it frivolously. That is within my moral code.”
“YAYYYYY!” Orihime squealed. “Triple date! Can I be an honorary member of the Shinigami Women’s Association?”
“What do you mean, 'triple date’?” Rukia tried to interrupt.
“Yes,” Nanao proclaimed. “But it will be three separate dates, covered as a three-part series.”
“In the World of the Living,” Shuuhei broke in. “The readers are crazy-go-nuts for the World of the Living.”
“Who is the third couple?” Rukia pressed.
“Genius,” Nanao threw a finger gun at Shuuhei. “Matsumoto, you’ll do host segments? Pre- and post-date interviews and such?”
“Give me a clothing budget and you’ve got a deal” Matsumoto agreed.
“WHO! IS! THE! THIRD! COUPLE?!” Rukia demanded.
“You and Renji, obviously,” Orihime replied. “You two are sooooo cute together! I bet your readers would love that, wouldn’t they, Lieutenant Hisagi? If Rukia and Renji went on a date in the World of the Living? Rukia’s like a princess or something here, right?”
“They will go apeshit , Hisagi replied breathlessly. "You have to understand that Abarai is actual very well-known among the Bulletin readership for his incredibly popular column, 'Let’s Do Shikai!!’ This is essentially the Soul Society equivalent of David Beckham marrying Posh Spice.”
“I…. don’t know who that is,” Rukia stammered.
“How do you know who those people are?” Uryuu asked, perplexed.
“I read Living World newspapers,” Hisagi excused with a shrug.
“Rukia, do you have something to tell me?” Byakuya frowned.
“No!” Rukia yelped. “I’m not dating Renji! I have no interest in going on a date with Renji, even though he consistently moves Heaven and Earth for me and we have really similar taste in craft beers and he’s objectively, like, smoking hot. I refuse to go on a date with Renji. Don’t ask me any more questions.”
“Where is Renji, anyway?” Ichigo frowned. “I don’t hear him shouting, so he must not be here.”
“He went to go pick up a bunch of snacks for Matsumoto because he’s a sucker and I’m sure he stopped off to trade out his sunglasses for polarized ones because he says they’re better for late afternoon glare,” Rukia excused very quickly.
“Rukia,” Ichigo noted, suddenly sounding a lot more sober. “Listen to yourself.”
“Soooooooo cuuuuuuuuuuuute!” Orihime repeated, exaggerating her lip movements.
“She’s not wrong,” Uryuu pointed out.
Chad did Big Shrug Arms and nodded in agreement.
At this moment, the man in question strode into the courtyard, carrying several grocery bags and wearing a pair of polarized sunnies. “Hey, party people!” Renji greeted cheerfully, somehow managing to hold four overstuffed grocery bags in one arm while he fished something out of one of them. “Why’s everyone so quiet?”
“Hey, Abarai, will you do me a big favor?” Hisagi asked innocently.
“Yeah, sure,” Renji agreed. He found whatever he was looking for. “Oi, Ruki-Ruki,” he called, tossing a small paper packet to Rukia. “They had those melon-flavored gummy salamanders you like when you get hammered.”
Rukia caught them easily, her cheeks flaming red.
“'Ruki-Ruki’?” Ichigo mouthed to her, making the most judgemental face he could manage under the influence of Unohana’s Special Sauce.
“So, what’s can I do you for, Shuuhei?” Renji asked, trying to find an empty spot to deposit his bags.
Shuuhei told him.
“Oh,” said Renji. He looked over at Rukia, who managed an awkward, sheepish half-smile as she clutched her candies. “Well, shit.”

Obata Interviews on Death Note Character Designs
In 2014, Takeshi Obata was on a panel at ComicCon (New York) and was asked some questions about Death Note and his designs/creative process. The panel discussions were recorded (Part 1 [interview], Part 2 [draws Ryuk and L, answers a few more questions]). There was a professional interpreter relaying the questions and answers. Here’s his answers to some of the more interesting questions:
Question to Obata: What were your impressions when you first met Tsugumi Ohba?
A: I thought, this was a cool adult. Yeah he just seemed very mysterious and cool and I thought I could create a good story with this guy.
-
Question to Obata’s editor: Did Ohba and Obata have instant chemistry together?
A: When we first started thinking about Death Note, I knew that Obata was working on Hikaru No Go but that he [Obata] was also into a goth aesthetic. I just had a feeling he’d be a really good artist for the Death Note story.
-
Q. How did you come up with this character design and what was your inspiration [for L]?
A: [Obata had a really hard time answering this] I started with the original writing I got from Ohba so in that sense L was based on his writing [stumped]. I was really intrigued by the weirdness of his character and his eccentricities so it was really fun to try and come up with something to fit. It’s really hard for me to explain my art or illustrations but what I wanted to do was capture his weirdness but also his coolness. Like he’s really strange and eccentric but really cool.
-
Q: And what about Ryuk’s design?
A: I guess there’s a bit of a mismatch there, because he has a scary face but acts so cute and kawaii. He is a shinigami with a human-like face and when I was designing him I thought it would be fun to depict someone who’s trying to wear high fashion from the Milan collection [Milan Fashion Week], so he’s having a little fun with his costume.
-
Q. Is Ryuk based on a real shinigami?
A: [laughing] It’s really hard to answer that question. He’s trying not to be a shinigami but he totally is a shinigami.
-
Q: [All You Need Is Kill] had a lot of mech and technology, was it fun to draw this?
A: I’ve always wanted to write sci-fi so it was really fun. I also got to work on drawing sharp lines which I don’t get to do a lot.
-
While drawing Ryuk, he said:
Obata: “When I draw a shinigami I start with an image of a skull. I wonder if ‘death god’ in the United States isn’t just the image of a skull.”
Mod: “It’s like the hooded death reaper character, from Scream, is what we think of.”
Obata: “Yes also in Japan. But skulls are pretty scary to everyone.”
-
Q. What do you pay attention to when you’re drawing Ryuk?
Obata: To make him not too scary but not too cute.
Q. What would make him too cute?
Obata: Too much facial expression
The translator explains that Ohba changed the story based on Obata’s design of Ryuk, so his design altered the personality of the character.
Obata said his hero was Sherlock Holmes, and his hobbies were sleeping and karate. If he had to describe his art style as a color it would it be either white or black.

Okay final episode let’s do it LET’S GO LET’S GET THIS BITCH OVER WITH
Soul Eater Episode 51 or “*MUFFLED FRUSTRATED SCREECHING*”
So the epic final conclusion to the fight with Asura...ends with a punch in the face
...
*long suffering sigh*
That’s just so...STUPID!
MAKA ACTUALLY GOES FULL WEAPON ON US AND YOU DON’T EVEN HAVE THAT BE OUR ASSPULL DEUS EX MACHINA?!
JUST SOME PRETTY WORDS ABOUT BRAVERY AND THEN A PUNCH?!
THIS IS FREAKING ASURA WE’RE TALKING ABOUT! IF A FUCKING TECHNIQUE THAT WAS MADE TO KILL KISHINS COULDN’T BEAT HIM, HOW WAS A PUNCH GOING TO DO THAT?!
NO I’M REALLY ASKING HERE. HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?!
Ugh did Bones just not know how to conceive a better idea on how to defeat someone as insanely powerful as Asura? Because that’s the impression I got. And they were right, how could some 1 Star meisters defeat a demon god?
Well it’s simple...they can’t
No I’m serious, they legit couldn’t have defeated Asura as they were in the anime. In the manga they were 2 Star leveled (with Kid becoming a mature Shinigami) and all of them were hyped up on some form of madness. And Asura was still giving them a rough time (the aforementioned breaking of B*S’s bones from a previous post). That’s how much of a big ass deal Asura is in the manga and Asura in the anime is a fucking wuss compared to him!
Other than...that...do you know what really burned me up about these last 3 episodes?
How everyone was pretty much relying on Maka and Maka alone to defeat the Kishin
Never mind about Black Star who is basically the strongest human on the planet or Kid who is a fucking Grim Reaper, we just care about Maka
Don’t get me wrong, I love Maka. She’s easily my favorite character and she’s a Grade A Badass.
...But she’s not supposed to work alone.
I don’t mean that in a malicious way though. I mean this as a reflection of the story of Soul Eater and its characters.
Who is the main character? A newcomer might think Soul given the series’ name, but the more you watch the more you find out Maka is more prominent.
And they’re right...both perspectives.
Maka and Soul are both the main characters. They’re partners, they’re supposed to share the limelight.
But it’s not just them.
Black Star and Death the Kid are just as much main characters as Maka and Soul are.
Soul Eater doesn’t begin with a chapter 1, it begins with a 3 part prologue
Maka, Black Star, and Kid are supposed to all 3 share the spotlight
Yes, Maka is important and is most consistent with being our main heroine of the story, but it’s not just her story; she shares it with B*S and Kid.
They started the story together and they ended it together
As they did...in the manga
Here in the anime it’s like, “Oh let’s push these two guys aside to give Maka all the attention. It’s really her who should defeat Asura.”
And I’d be all well and good with this...if they had also included Soul
Like I mentioned before, Soul and Maka are partners. They complement each other and balance each other out. They’re quite literally soulmates gosh dangit!
There’s also the fact that neither of them do well when they’re separated. And yes, this include Maka. It’s a major plot point in the manga. Maka is too reckless without Soul’s level head, and she often needs him to lead her in battle despite being the meister. With Soul, he’s not very good at solo combat. He has to have someone wield him and often has issues with hesitation. Maka gives him the courage to fight and trusts her the most to wield him in battle.
Having Maka defeat the Kishin alone just feels like a slap in the face to me because this isn’t just about Maka. It’s about her and Soul and Black Star and Kid and their respective weapons and their relationships with one another.
And that’s why I need a better anime adaptation so badly because you can’t grasp these characters and their relationship with each other with just the barely halfway point of the story. You need all of it. Anime Soul Eater is too rushed and clumsy and weak to capture the magic and downright batshit insane story that Ohkubo told us.
Also, Maka’s mom doesn’t do shit and no one cares about her so that’s also a plus. I refuse to believe her letter means so much to Maka that it’d give her the literal power of GOD to kill off a fucking kishin like Asura
What bullshit
I must ask again WHERE IS MY SOUL EATER BROTHERHOOD AT BONES?!
