ohboyohboy do i have SO many thoughts on lawlight yuri.

firstly, here's how i headcanon them to look:

okayokay i am very passionate about genderbends. i know it can be controversial to a degree?? but personally i love using it as a way to depict societal issues in gender. at least for me, not showing how their personalities would slightly shift feels a little like a disservice (ofc it's completely fine to not do that, i love seeing all interpretations of genderbends, but this is just how i like to imagine it :} ). ouh and this is also assuming that the majority of the other death note characters stay as their canon gender, because then that always leave me with the question of if the patriarchy switches into a matriarchy???? and then everything just gets confusing so for now i'm deciding everything is the same except L and Light are girls now.

all of this to say that i feel like fem Light would try to play a little into her femininity to get what she wants. her personality is still the same "fucked up masking like hell bitch on the verge of crashing out" except now the masking is amplified just a tad more and it also includes occasional deep bends with her pencil skirt on. this is why she keeps her hair fairly long, makes sure her clothing accentuates her body in all the right places, and practices her smile in every mirror (which are all things i already headcanon male Light does. the only difference is how they use gender roles to their advantage.). ouh and she has so much more pent up rage than male Light does. she has wanted to curb stomp every guy in her school who's tried flirting with her. maybe that makes her even more keen on using the death note. i don't think it would affect who exactly she kills, but i feel she'd be even more passionate about finally getting something that's hers.

as for fem L, this is the one exception i make where everything is practically the same.

she looks exactly the same. she acts exactly the same. nothing about her demeanor changes. honestly, i feel like fem L pretends to be a guy just so that nobody ever questions her word. maybe Light fully believes that L's a guy throughout the whole case, up until they get handcuffed together, when it's revealed that L indeed has tits and ouh my god she was a fucking girl this whole time????? and never bothered to tell Light????? did she not consider how weird it must feel to be chained to some supposed old guy????? who is this bitch??????? maybe she calls L out on it and L just responds with "ouh. yes. light-chan is correct. i am a biological female." and now light's staring at her tits a little too much and suddenly her adam's apple is actually attractive and what no Light's not into girls wtf are you on.

also, a few more fem L headcanons, i like to think she has higher testosterone than normal. just bc i have that too and it makes me happy. :3 this and also i think she'd bind every now and then simply because she doesn't like the way her tits cling to her shirt. however when it doesn't bother her she's completely bra-less. this is simply how her brain functions at it's most optimal state, light-chan should stop questioning her thinking methods,,,

How do you think a female Light and L would be? Would the story change?

Personally, I don't think there would be any major potential for a difference in the story and the plot.

The only difference would be that instead of two men, we would follow the story of two women and their game of cat and mouse. L would still want to catch Kira, and Light would still pretend that she is nOt KiRa, and so on.

Okay, maybe instead of fist fighting, we would have more slap fighting and hair pulling, lol. And a lot of more screaming and yelling, because L and Light as a women would have the "potential" to be more emotionally sensitive and open in a way. And maybe the show would be less misogynist, but who knows.

Also Light would surely cry on several occasions during the investigation (she would use it as one of her tools for manipulation), and she would surely shed a few tears when she would finally manage to get rid of L.
