So I'm CONSTANTLY bringing up this issue, where it's the first appearance of Stephanie as Robin, so let me just show it to yall.
It is so so real to me. Tim's parents love him and he loves them. Bruce and Steph work together well. Steph wanted to kill her dad because he killed her mom. Bruce respects Steph and saw greatness in her. STEPH CALLING BRUCE DUSKY!!! Steph being respected. It is so so important to me. This is my Batman and Robin.
#i also love her short hair and mask.#pair it with her later headband and it would be perfect#this kinda implies that steph was possibly the only robin? not sure tho.#and also that bruce adopts steph because orphan.#idk#stephanie <3#batfamily#batman#robin#dc robin#bruce wayne#tim drake#stephanie brown#dc comics#if someone wrote a fic taling place in this universe i would love it so much

Some Batfam Headcanons because the brain never stops;
Jason hates being called "Bruce's Son". But he hates it more when hes called "One of Wayne's Orphans/Wayne's child" because fuck you I'm his son-! wait no--
With the exception of Damian, they rarely refer to Bruce as "Dad/Father". Either it didn't occur to them/didn't see the need to/thought it would be strange. But when Dick/Jason/Tim/Cass are tired or injured it might slip out. And Bruce might just crumble a bit at it
Doesn't mean they don't say it to their siblings when Bruce is out of Earshot.
"Dad said you couldn't." "What do you mean Dad said I couldn't use that mug? It's my mug!" "You snooze you lose Timmy Boy-" "Jason don't be an asshole-"
That being said Bruce says "son/daughter/child" at every available opportunity he can after he knows that they have acclimated enough that they wouldn't be uncomfortable/know they can tell Bruce that they don't want to be called that.
First time Bruce called Dick "son" in a way that meant "You are my kid" and not in a "This police officer just called me son with a brow furrow" way Dick grinned and carried on with the conversation. Later he wondered if his dad wouldn't like someone else calling him Son; but Dick thinks about the life he was given because of Bruce and thinks maybe his dad wouldn't mind.
Calling Jason "son" is a hit or miss situation, even before he died. The first time it happened he was confused, he didnt think that was the relationship they had and it made everything change for him. He got frustrated--not angry--with himself and Bruce at this sudden emotional turmoil. Wasn't he just the kid Bruce picked up in an alleyway? Wasn't he just some street rat in bright Robin clothing? (He lets himself believe that he can be Bruce's son. If for only a little while).
Tim cries after Bruce is out of earshot, it would've been a year or so after his parents died and he was adopted. He didn't think he could have been wanted like that again. Even if you think the Drake's had A+ Parenting or not, I don't think he would have gotten a lot of confirmation of being wanted otherwise.
Cass smiles, emotions carefully concealed under her expression. She's grateful she found Bruce and he doesn't mention it if she leans a bit closer in a request for closeness.
Damian doesn't expect anything less, he only appears satisfied. But also relieved that he has gotten the confirmation that yes, Bruce wants and accepts him.
EDIT 10/11; hiii, i have added Duke, Steph & a Bonus in a reblog you can find on the same blog under my 'batfamily headcanons' / 'sore rambles' tag. have fun :)
#these are just my thoughts#they dont have to align with your own!#i am also trying to find a healthy balance between being emotional and being Angry for jason--#he wasnt the angry robin dammit! maybe emotional and a bit more physical but cmon#points at Dick 'Eldest Daughter Syndrome' Grayson#when dick gets older i would imagine that he would resent being called anything in relation to bruce#if its just for his angst phase when he first becomes nightwing or if hes dealing with his own identity/or going through a fight w bruce#i also find the father / son dynamic with dick & damian interesting so i might ponder on that a bit more#also giving tim insecurity issues about where he fits in with the batfam is important to my soul (i have problems)#sore rambles#lotuspowder rambles#batfam#dcu#bruce wayne#dick grayson#jason todd#tim drake#cassandra cain#damian wayne#batfam headcanons#dc headcanon#headcanon#batkids#batkids headcanon#HI IF YOURE LOOKI

Cass approached the child as carefully as she could. That didn't stop him from shrinking back into the corner, his body language screaming fear and distrust at her. She did her best to project safety and protection as she stopped and knelt down in front of him.
It was now that Cass was about to get a good look at the child. He was skinny. Painfully so. And his clothes were oversized and dirty. There was a muzzle strapped tightly to his face too. Her heart hurt thinking about who would do this to such a small thing and why.
Still emphasizing safety and calmness with her body language, Cass finally spoke to the boy. "Do you... want help with that?" she asked, pointing to the muzzle.
The boy reached up to the muzzle also subconsciously as he eyed her suspiciously. Cass for her part, patiently waited until the boy reluctantly nodded before she began inching forward once more. She projected all of her actions as she carefully reached up and turned the boy's head slightly to get a good look at the back of the muzzle.
It was locked with a special mechanism Cass had never seen before. Clearly whoever did this to the boy wanted no chance of breaking free. Luckily that wouldn't be an issue for Orphan. Cass dug around in her belt until she found the tools she was looking for and got to work. No more than 5 minutes later, the muzzle unlocked with a satisfying click.
Cass slowly slid it off of the boy's face before backing away again. "Better?" she asked cheerily.
The boy reached up with both hands to feel at his cheeks. He gently flexed his jaw. Then he looked up at Cass, hope and disbelief evident in his eyes. She returned his look of awe with a smile though she doubted he could tell since she still had her mask on.
The boy opened his mouth but all that came out was a wheeze. He narrowed his eyes in frustration as he tried again. Cass was ready to tell him not to push himself but then he croaked out, "Than..k....... you." He slowly parsed through the words, his throat clearly rusty from disuse.
Cass smiled once more. "No problem. Would you like to get out of here?" she said as she extended her hand.
The boy hesitated. Cass could still see that despite everything, he still didn't trust her. Still, he eventually took her hand. Cass pulled the boy up and guided him out of the facility she had found him in. Never letting go of his hand.
As they walked, Cass turned slightly towards the boy. "Do you... have a name?"
The boy nodded slowly in return. "Dan....ny," he answered.
"Hmm. That's a nice name."
For the first time since Cass had discovered the boy, she saw happiness radiate from him. At the sight, she couldn't help but think to herself that no sunrise could compare to such joy.
----
(Cass adopts Danny cause it's what they both deserve. She struts into Wayne Manor, blowing Steph's betting pool out of the water because she never thought Cass would be the first Wayne child to pick up Bruce's habits.
Danny can't really talk all that well the first few months he's living with everyone but that's ok because mama bear is going to teach him all there is to know about sign language and body language.)
But wait there's more!

my take on the Reverse Robins au
damian - bruce met talia and trained with the LoA a few years before becoming Batman. a couple years into being Batman, talia leaves a 7-8 year old damian on bruce’s doorstep. he has to help damian unlearn years of violence and lets him become Batman’s sidekick as an outlet. not sure what his hero name would be yet tbh but i’ll probably just go with Batboy. he becomes a vigilante at 9 y/o
duke - he’s 10 when his parents are jokerized, and he runs away from foster care. he uses his powers to try and become a vigilante but he’s still ten and untrained. batman finds him losing control of his powers and helps him calm down (he works with the justice league, he knows how to deal with super-powered beings). bruce takes him in and while at first damian (14) is wary of being replaced, duke grows on him rather quickly. bruce takes him to the JL and barry & clark help him learn to control his powers. eventually, after being trained by bruce and learning to control his meta abilities, he becomes Signal (at around 13 y/o)
tim - once bruce wayne officially has two kids, the drakes ask him if tim can stay at Wayne Manor whenever they’re out of the country. the boys know each other from galas and get along well, so bruce agrees (he can also tell tim doesn’t have very many friends and is quite lonely). so tim ends up spending a lot of time at the Manor and ofc connects the dots of bruce and his kids disappearing whenever Batman and his partners appear. he basically just tells them he knows and asks if he can do anything to help. so they give him access to the Batcomputer and he directs them on missions and helps with cases. he starts staying at Wayne Manor when he’s about 10 (damian is 16 and duke is 12) and figures out their identities a year or so later. over comms he goes by ‘T’ and later ‘Rumor’. eventually his parents die in a plane crash and he (15) is officially adopted by bruce
steph - she starts out as Spoiler at 13 (damian is 19, duke is 15, tim is also 13). damian has become his own hero at this point: Leviathan. steph works with Signal the most but will work with Leviathan on occasion. damian is a reluctant older brother figure to her and pretends to find her annoying but is secretly very protective of her. she tended to avoid Batman until damian pestered bruce into reaching out and offering to train her which she happily accepted. when they reveal their identities to her she finally meets tim (who is usually just on comms with them) and befriends him immediately. they become besties and an unstoppable duo
cass - same origin of being raised a weapon and running away. she shows up in gotham one day and stays in hiding for a while before letting Batman see her and confront her. she ends up going home with him and the others just accept that they have a sister now. her and damian are the closest because they understand each other best, but tim is her favorite sibling. she is a few years younger than tim and steph. she is 14 when she arrives in gotham (tim and steph are 16, duke is 18, damian is 22). she goes by Orphan and later Black Bat
jason - same origin of stealing the batmobile’s tires at 12. he is three years younger than cass (15). damian (23) has been his own vigilante for years now so jason takes up the Batboy mantle (duke is 19, tim & steph are 17). he is killed by the joker at 15, and returns as Red Hood at 17
dick - same origin of parents death and bruce being at the circus. he is 9, jason is 13, cass is 16, tim & steph are 18, duke is 20, damian is 24. jason and cass are dick’s favorite siblings (and the only ones who still live in the manor). jason is Batboy, cass is Black Bat, tim is Rumor, steph is Spoiler, duke is Signal, and Damian is Leviathan. dick becomes Robin at 10
babs - dick’s friend from school, they’re on the mathlete team together. she is a year younger than him, but they are both very smart. has yet to get into the vigilante business but probably will eventually. knows dick is Robin. her and dick once hacked into the pentagon because they were bored. absolutely terrifying duo. they become friends in middle school- dick is 12, babs is 11

DC? Come here... Let's talk... So.... Why the fuck is Steph there? *deep breath in * All right let's get some things right:
First, this family tree not only is wrong with Carrie and Stephanie, is also incomplete. To begin with, Carrie is from a non main canon universe, so if you were to include non main canon universe characters... Would you mind to explain to me WHY THE FUCK ISN'T HELENA WAYNE THERE????? YOU KNOW... HIS BIOLOGICAL DAUGHTER THAT APPEARED BEFORE DAMIAN even if it was in another universe and recently apparently she is now part of the main canon even though Bruce didn't tell anything about her to his family and sent her away from Gotham... 🤦♀️🤬 and also you forgot to include Batwoman... You know, his blood related family member aside Damian... Known as his cousin!! 🤬🤬🙄
I just had come back here to edit this post and fix my mistake, I forgot to point out that in the adoptive family section there's a significant lack of ALFRED, DC wasn't enough to kill him off you asshole? Did you forgot that ALFRED BECAME BRUCE'S LEGAL GUARDIAN after his parents death? 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Second, Carrie and Stephanie shouldn't be there because neither of them are orphans or were officially adopted by Batman. Carrie has neglectful parents but she has parents, similar case with Steph... Let's talk about Stephanie :
Well apparently DC is obsessed with making incest real 😑😑... Steph is a particular case, she is in a position between Barbara and Cassandra which means she can't be see as a legally adopted kid because she is not an orphan or someone in need of an official parental figure (like Cass needed Batman) and because she dated Tim who is one of the legally adopted kids (like Barbara dated Dick)
Steph is "independent" from the family like Barbara but I can understand she is seen as one of Bruce kids as long as we understand that is platonic, because she was younger than Babs when she "joined" and I could see Bruce caring and paying her studies and even supporting her economically if she needs it, Steph can "sometimes", " Maybe " See him as fatherly figure but SHE ISN'T BIOLOGICALLY OR LEGALLY HIS DAUGHTER! So she can't be in that family tree the same way Barbara and Luke fox aren't there either. Right now Steph is more like that kid that is your kids friend and spends more time in your house eating your food than in her own house because her family is dysfunctional and feels happier in your home so you treat her like family.
The only way she or Barbara can become legally his daughters is by becoming daughters in law and that's it! Stop making Steph incestuous DC!

How I think reverse robin au would go:
_ damian being the oldest sibling who came first he and bruce don't talk so much but they start to fight each time they do he would love his sibling but he doesn't know how to show them he's bad a communication cause he live with b and Alfred and he doesn't stop talking formally. His vigilante name would be "shadow" and he would leave the Manor at the age of 17 to the sister city Blüdhaven he tries to be a good brother to his sibling even thought he doesn't know how to show it and he has a protective side, I 100% sur he would kill the joker after he know about tim death then he killed ra for manipulating his younger brother and those killing were also part of the fall of his relationship with his father.
_duke was the second to came to the Manor at the age of 7, damian and him didn't get a long at first cause damian keep distance but they turn to be the beautiful, he didn't know about his power fist but them when he did bruce made sur to make him feel welcome duke was younger than tim but he stayed in the Manor the most he was athe good sunshine brother who maintained a good relationship with his sibling and bruce, he became vigilant after turning 9 goes by "spoiler". Batman listened to him the most.
_Stephanie was already a vigilant when bruce took her in, she was a the sister that camed but never really adopted she stayed in the Manor alot and loved to annoyed bruce who she started calling him B she had a healthy sibling relationship with her brothers even if damin did look weird and mysterious she loved to annoyed but he never snaped at here, she become batgirl. Tim death destroyed here and Jason coming home did bring here some joy but she couldn't forget her BFF death.
_tim camed next at the age of 12 he was adopted after discovery batman and spoiler, he and damian didn't get a long at fist but after tim talking with duke and understanding damian personality he looked up on him and somehow they started get along . joker captured tim to make him joker Jr but tim ended dead due to the experience, when he woke up he find himself in the hand of the demon head who manipulated him to the perfect puppet until damian came and saved him, there he learnt about his older brother past them damian bring him back to Blüdhaven tim was mentally investable but damian did all he could to help him recover then he want back to Gotham and reunited with his family and met his new brother,
_rev!Jason and Jason joined the same way to the batfamily after tim death he bring joy to bruce and duke, he didn't meet damian when he camed to the Manor he just find out about him by asking whoms room in the end turn out he had an older brother who he didn't know about he was excited to meet him, he looked and strong cool in jason eyes, he was more them bruce and he got along with him with book where he first met him , then he met Tim who he used to looked up and he did all he could do to enter the Jr heart ♥
_cass arrived is the same, she camed and stayed, she stayed close to bruce at first then duke, she got along with here sibling quick and here brother cheried here, they know her past. Damian looked at his sibling care to cass he didn't understand but he didn't hated it it was nice seeing how they care to the little girl who she remained him of his past, she also choose to become a vigilante under the name of orphan she started speaking but preferred to use sight language.
_dick camed last at the age of 8 same as the original version he was the lovely beautiful sunshine Little brother who was dear to the batfam but his favorite was damian who he looked up to he was like a father to him he become robin.
_bruce in this rev had a good relationship with duke cass Jay and dick, steph and him used to be close befor Tim's death but after that she made a distance with him and started to get along a little but not as before, him and tim didn't get along after his return because of tim killing problems and tim refusing to come close. But him and damian relationship was too far from a good relationship he didn't trust damian to change and always scolded him for small mistake until damian left the Manor they Don't talk and after killing joker there was ni room off talking only yelling, they Don't talk when damian visit the Manor even in the diner table and bruce always tell damian to stay away from his sibling cause he scared that damian would hurt them

Ok, I have 3 days of RBH's to make and post today to make up for me missing the past 2 days. So, let's hit the road!
Random Batfam Headcanon's #22: The Adoption Habit Trilogy!
The Batkids have unknowingly inherited Bruce's patent for Adopting things, but the things they adopt are vastly different.
Dick: he has a bad (or sometimes good) Habit of Adopting new hobbies and interests at the flip of a dime. This is most likely just his old circus lifestyle + his ADHD catching up to him in his older years, but he can't keep still or do any 1 career for too long without it being monotonous. The only exception is Vigilantism because each night is vastly different than the night before.
Barbara: Babs has the habit of adopting the many regulars at Gotham Library as under her protection like Jason with Crime Alley.
Jason: He, ironically enough (and never let Jason or Bruce hear this), is the most like Bruce, because his adoption habit is ALSO towards traumatized orphan Kids (and normal kids with a little bit of a sad life. We don't judge), except he's set his scope a lot smaller than Bruce's in that he tries to limit his range to just Crime Alley. Of course he fails spectacularly and has a small caballe of International Children he's picked up on missions living together in Crime Alley, always having their various apartments directly across the street from his most secure Safe Houses. He also has an inexplicably near-complete collection of every variant of Jane Austin Novels.
Tim: Tim Collects Photos and used Coffee Cups. Does he also only save those coffee cups so he can extract the persons DNA into a vast database of his so that he may clone any of the Batfam (or all of humanity if needed) in case of world disaster events? Don't worry about it :)
Steph: Steph is probably the most normal when it comes to her Adoption/Collection because she has a very vast collection of random knickknacks that she's found or acquired over the years.
Cass: Cass has been testing out her sowing skills alot and so has conducted her own small game at her apartment in Korea (not that she doesn't bring it home to Gotham with her). And that's the fact that she's begun swiping up damaged bits of everyone's costumes after fights, and just random weapons or costume parts that the Batfam leave around the Manor, and she takes them back to Korea to stitch all the random pieces back together into her own version of the Batcave's suit display cases. So far the only suit she hasn't been able to start is Barbara's Batgirl suit design, but even then she's looking at that display case every time she's visiting like Indiana Jones trying to steal that golden statue.
Damian: Damian, Being both Bruce's direct blood relative and being raised by the Eco-Terrorists that are the LOA, adopts any random animals he can find, especially those that have naturally occurring Bat Shaped Birth Marks.
Duke: Duke is the kind of Whippersnapper to collect indie Rap mixtapes. You know, the ones from up and coming rappers who stand outside a 7/11 trying to sell anyone their debut mixtape for only $9. He has a pretty vast collection.

Here is the aforementioned essay! I said I’d get it done (and my notes were pretty detailed anyway)
Dick's robin is representative of the distinction of youth culture coming to light as more kids distanced themselves from the conservative views and began questioning authority figures, during the 40s, when they questioned the actual effects and causes of war, questioned the authority behind it and the reason for not intervening earlier. Batman as a character was also introduced in this period, and is a call for social change. He is a billionaire who wants to help the lower class. He empathises with the people, he sympathises with the child that lost his parents in front of him, and death is a driving factor in both their lives. To me, this seems like a homage to the families who lot their children, their fathers, their brothers, to the war, and wanted to do and be better, to live their memory and be able to push through and help the world. Dick also puts McCarthyism into question, as he doesn't exactly obey Batman all the time, despite needing to. He questions Batman, he questions Bruce, he is rebellious and harsh, and angry, and maybe that's how he would have turned out, even without Bruce giving him a cape and weapons.he represents the beginnings of change, the start of hope after a war, the ability to raise yourself and your family above that.
Jason's post crisis character when referring to youth of the time is much like Tim's and Dick's. This was a period after wartime economy, where the majority of the population were people who couldn't fight in the war, where communism was a genuine fear, and his whole story line of 'crime alley, poor orphan, adopted by a billionaire,' pulls both capitalism and communism into question- why is there a billionaire when the people are suffering, and capitalism CAN help the few lucky enough to receive that help. In terms of youth attitudes, he came from a time of youth rebellion, evident in his later comics, where he pulled away from Batman which lead to his eventual death. He took more risks, he had an edge over Dick I terms of his street brawler style instead of Dick's grace in acrobatics. The older generations saw this rebellion of youth as off putting, and often refused to hire younger generations due to their more leftist views, and a perceived notion of them being radical and troublemakers. This stigma till exists today and is still evident in later Robin runs.
Tim’s characterisation as a representation if the youth is the most prominent to a modern audience, though, because he is representative of teens in the 90s/very early 2000s and they were attempting to get more teens into comics without it being seen as nerdy, however, this push for more youth diversity in comics prompted a huge shift in youth culture, where comics were now being seen as old people stuff and ‘nerd culture’ up until televised media (TV/movies) started adapting it to exclusively appeal to nerd audiences who didn’t want to watch new media, as it might mean letting go of old media. Televised adaptations also brought in new fans who could understand storylines visually and in a more efficient way than reading several decades worth of back reading comics could. Tim was a skateboarder and a photographer, and these pictures and excessive stalking of Batman and Robin could almost be seen as a teenage girl in the 90s having posters of her celebrity crush all over the walls. He also slept A LOT, which might be the writers trying to represent the youth as lazy in order to keep older readers and avoid being seen as 'pandering' to the youth.
Coincidentally, Steph was also introduced as a Robin during this period of the early 2000s which meant that DC were trying to ensure that women were being represented more in traditionally male media in order for the women’s equality movements to also be appealed to. She, as a character, does not fit into any stereotypical female character archetype (nosy reporter, damsel on distress, femme fatale) and is so evidently an individual of her own, without simply being a part of someone else’s character, like Tim’s. This shift in views towards women in comics was probably what stopped more comics from ‘fridging’ their female characters in order to elevate a male character’s story, even though Steph and Barbara were both pretty badly portrayed at the end of their individual runs (Killing Joke and No Man's Land, and Steph's baby). Her introduction as a Robin, 'the Girl Wonder' was so that Batman comics would appeal to more women, specifically, women who were actively less conservative and more likely to get into traditionally male medias, as many women in the 2000s were stepping out of conservative roles, and more were engaging in these 'nerdy' interests.
Damian’s introduction in a post 9/11 world, where the vilification of the LoA had reached a high and probably contributed to the extreme whitewashing of his character, sometimes seen in the DCAU, or even a lot in comics. He seems to feel ostracised by the rest of the family, because of his upbringing, the same way many Arabs and other ethnic minorities felt at this time. Damian being white passing also meant that he perhaps reflected the Arab youth in America who were not so outwardly ostracised by their peers due to the racial and religious tensions in the country. He was also introduced in or around 2006 (I can’t remember the exact date) where the youth were, again, largely viewed as rebellious or hooligans, which is NOT reflected in his character, not that I can think of any examples.
Anyway. That’s it for the essay, let me know if I missed something, or got something wrong, and thank you for reading till the end!

Honestly, the whole batfam literally a circus in its own right, so give me an au where all of the kids started out in the circus together. Like, Bruce didn’t just adopt Dick that night, but all of his brothers and sisters as well. And sure, maybe they were a foster family to begin with in the circus, like Dick’s parents kept taking kids in and giving them a family, because that’s what a circus is, a family of diverse individuals.
So when Jason talked Catherine into going to the circus, and after she’s gone, he goes to see them again, and he stays, Dick gained a little brother.
Or when Tim started following the circus and the Grayson’s realized he was alone too often as a small child, they let him stay.
Or when Cass escapes her father and is on the run but can’t speak and is incredibly talented in her movements, they gain a sister.
Or Damian and Steph and Duke and Babs, like a lot of people get taken in, in some capacity, by the circus. Idk how much of canon to change, and like definitely their ages will be way off, but the family is already insane.
So when Bruce finds Dick that night, after the horrible tragedy - it’s not just seeing himself in a young orphan, but also realizing that Bruce Wayne might be the only person on the planet with enough resources to adopt an entire, literal, circus all at once.
So when he shows up at the manor with a minimum of 7 or 8 children, Alfred resigns himself to being a ringmaster and shepherding them all around because of course his son could never do anything in half measures.

It was known that whenever your soulmate got a scar or a bruise you'd get a flower in the same place. The flowers coincide with how they were feeling when they got the scars/bruises. As the scars/bruises faded, so did the flowers.
Sam and Valerie had figured out they were soulmates because they got the same flowers in the same area every time their soulmate (or soulmates. They weren't sure how many they had.) got hurt. Some of the flowers never faded, showing that their soulmates scar never did either.
As time went on Sam got more and more interested in how the soulmate marks work. Found as many resources as she could, and when she ran out of them, she started experimenting. The experiments didn't last very long. Everyone was very upset with her. It didn't matter, she had proof that the flower meaning guide she found was accurate.
Cass had always been careful to hide her soulmate marks when she'd been with the League. They were a sign of weakness. They were also a sign of a potential traitor. Her father told her to never look at them.
When she left, she found them interesting to look at she didn't understand why they were there or why they appeared or disappeared. They just did. They were pretty. She saw them on other people sometimes too. While she hid them when she was in public as she only wore her Orphan costume and then kept to long sleeves and pants, she took joy in admiring the pretty flowers.
She learned what they meant and what they were after she was adopted by Bruce. She wasn't good at reading words, so the "Flower meanings list" wasn't very helpful, but Steph and Tim helped her figure out their meanings.
Steph didn't mean to hide her soulmate marks, but it was easier sometimes to hide them along with the bruises and scratches and other injuries than it was to avoid covering them up. She started to suspect that Cass was her soulmate when she saw flowers pop up when she got hurt. She thinks Cass noticed flowers appearing on her whenever the other got hurt, too.
After they confirmed their status as soulmates, they started to suspect that they had at least one more. There were a few thyme (courage, strength) sprigs and tansy (hostile thoughts, declaring war) littering them both showed that whoever their other soulmate was, was probably a spitfire. Their soulmate's flowers eventually stopped appearing so frequently.
Valerie left Amity, promising Sam to call as often as possible. The new city, Gotham, was dark and gothic. Valerie knew Sam would love the place. The fact that her soulmate could so easily fit in with the villains made her hope they never decided to settle down here.
It wasn't easy to adjust to the place, given how dreary and loud and crowded it was. She had to deal with too many idiots trying to pickpocket her. It was enough to make her wish she'd gone to a city closer to her hometown. Like Faucett City.
It really didn't help that there were vigilantes that had decided to take an interest in her. Dumb vigilantes that had decided to name themselves after animals. It's almost as bad as Danny's pun. Or "Superman".

Steph Cass (hunger games au:
cain(victor but not mentor of district 2) raises Cass as the ultimate career tribute
Bruce (brucie) Wayne is the escort for district 2 tributes. His parents tragically died (killed by president) when he was young. He is a secret rebellion leader
Barbara Gordon is the mentor (she was paralysed at the end of her games but still won) her father is a somewhat uncorrupt mayor who was resistant to the president so she was reaped as a punishment
District 2 also has a poorer end (equivalent to the seam in district 12) which is where Steph comes from. Her father is a peacekeeper who uses his power against her and her mother
She has been training herself as best she can and volunteers to get out of her home. If she is able to win, she plans to allow Crystal to move into her new house in the victors village with her to keep her safe.
Her and Cass have a rivalry which becomes romantic, leading to star crossed rival lovers
Tim (a capitol child) discovered brucies secret and so has been living at 13 for years
Richard’s parents were both victors so they took him with them to the capitol but were killed and so brucie took him in
Bruce adopts Jason too (a capitol orphan) but when he toes the line of rebellion too much, president joker has Jason taken.
Ra’s is the president of 13 and his daughter Talia is on the mission which rescues Jason
Damien dislikes Tim bc he actually knew Bruce
Steph Cass become allies because Cass doesn’t want her to suffer (Cass is planning to kill her in her sleep so she doesn’t suffer)(Steph knows she can’t kill Cass unless she catches her unawares)
Alfred is their stylist but also a 13 spy?
I might draw them at some point

I’m a simple gal I see GOT au and DC and I come RUNNING!!!! I’ve tried developing my own DC x GoT au and id love to hear more if you want to share!!!
I have a few ideas floating around my head for some of the batfam characters, nothing too concrete tho.
I imagine Bruce to be a lord of the north (mainly because I feel like the north fits gotham and the atmosphere the best. Something about all the dark clothing just fits the grim vibes) although I got a good comment talking about his no kill rule! So perhaps he could be like all edgy no kill because of his parents being dead. Alfred is an ex knight for the throne , also friends with his father that became his personal guard , and after Bruce s parents were murdered, chose to take care and raise Bruce in the North.
Dick's family was part of a travelling performers group travelling around Westeros. Bruce happened to pass by and notice one of their shows, I imagine his parents being killed or something just like Bruce's, then Bruce starts his orphan adopting hobby and takes Dick in.
Jason's father was part of a thief gang to try to provide a better life for his family. This works for a while until they get caught and imprisoned/ killed by whoever busts then/ something. Catherine Todd dies or an illness. Jason is left fending for his own, starts pickpocketing. Bruce finds him while he's trying to steal something packed on his horse and ends up adopting him. Still working on his death/ resurrection (I feel like they're a big part of his character and I want to add that)
Tim's parents were merchants. Possibly knew Bruce . Tim was a secret dick fanboy because of his traveling performer era (thought he was really cool and badass). Some more death and adoption.
I haven't fully thought about Damian s backstory yet and the relationship between Talia and Bruce, since I like the idea of them being from Essos , but that's what i have for him so far. Speaking high Valyrian and some other languages, accent while speaking in English ✨
I haven't come up with anything for Cass, Steph and duke yet

Shazamily 'n Batfamily hc because I'm bored!!
Billy
The one who introduced the whole family to the Wayne's, he gets along with Bruce and have a fatherly relationship, but he's not letting Bruce adopt him.
He gets along well with Dick and Tim, doesn't talk much to Jason, he goes with Damian to animal shelters to help, doesn't talk much with the girls but he thinks Steph is amazing and wants to learn some movements from Cass. Duke is his frenemie and Babs is the one he ask for advice.
Freddy
He's a Batman enthusiast and is always asking Bruce questions, is friends with Damian, he knows Tim's Robin history by core (he jokes about how he would have done the same if he lived in Gotham), ask questions to Dick and he has a massive crush on Jason. He thinks Steph is neat and has some inner jokes with her, Cass scares him a bit by how quiet she can be, and Duke is his video game partner to kick Billy's ass. Haven't spoke much to Babs but thinks she's amazing.
Also, Alfred gaves him a Tupperware with cookies and other treats to share with the Shazamily, but he eats almost all of it on the way home when Rosa picks him up from the Wayne manor.
(When he's allowed to go to the Batcave, Bruce handcuffs him because he keeps touching everything. Literally everything.)
Mary
Oh, she loves all of them! Because she was the first child, she gets along well with Dick, even patrols with him from time to time.
Damian reminds him of Billy when he first arrived home, speaks with Jason from time to time and she's also worried about Tim's coffee addiction. She gets along well with Duke.
Also, she's always invited to Cass, Steph and Babs' girls night. She's the one in charge of the snacks.
Darla
She's friendly with everyone, but doesn't talk much to anyone besides Steph, who shares a passion for the color purple and silly stuff. When she goes to the manor with the other's, she goes straight to the kitchen to see Alfred cooking, and sometimes he allows her to help him!
Pedro
Little guy right here has a massive crush on Dick !! Like, the stuttering and blushing type, but tries to act cool around him. He plays sports with Jason and Tim, likes to see Damian training. Duke is the one he gets along with the most. Haven't spoke much with the girls though, but Cass is his favorite one.
Eugene
Ever since he got to met Barbara, he spends time with her, learning how she keeps tracking of every movement that is done in Gotham, aspires to be as good with tech as her.
He spends time with Tim too, mostly when Tim is working on the Batcomputer. He's the only one of the Shazamily allowed to touch it.
Plus:
Rosa and Victor feel really in touch with Bruce, who's an orphan like them. They think they're very similar, keeping in mind the amount of children Bruce adopted too.
Rosa shares cooking recipes with Alfred, and from time to time they have a friendly competition on who makes the best dessert. The kids are the judges and it's always a tie.
#shazam#shazamily#billy batson#freddy freeman#mary bromfield#pedro peña#darla dudley#eugene choi#batman#batfamily#bruce wayne#dick grayson#jason todd#tim drake#damian wayne#i just need them to interact i hope is not too much to ask for#it probably is tho

Propaganda for the Batfamily
"Constantly fighting, and trying to kill each other. Also are fighting the mentally I’ll at 2 in the morning while wearing glorified tights and bat ears"
"*gestures vaguely at every batfam story ever* No but like they’ve got so many issues idk where to start. Jason’s death and all the shit he started post resurrection? Damian straight up trying to kill Tim for while back in the day? Bruce’s questionable and inconsistently written parenting skills? Also they’re all vigilantes which in Gotham means they definitely have issues"
"Thomas and Martha Wayne got murdered and it's all been downhill from there"
"Bruce dresses up as a bat to fight crime and Alfred, failing to stop him, adopts a "well if you're going to do it then at least do it where I can see that you'll be safe" attitude and helps from behind the scenes. Bruce in turn adopts a child called Dick. And then a child called Jason. And then a Cass and a Tim and a Duke. It doesn't really work out with a Steph but she's family anyway. Damian doesn't need adopting because he's Bruce's bio kid that he didn't know existed for ten years. And all of the children are SO determined to fight crime that the combined forces of Bruce and Alfred aren't enough to stop them, and one by one they all become vigilantes (Bruce also adopting Alfred's attitude from before). Most of them die at least once. None of them are good at coping OR communicating OR feelings OR being a member of a functioning family but by god if they aren't trying to help. Sometimes the world, sometimes each other. They usually fare better with the former. Bruce and Dick yell at each other about everything under the sun that parents and eldest children yell at each other about. Jason is angry at Bruce because the Joker is still alive after he killed Jason. Bruce is angry at Jason for killing people. Cass is away from home a lot. Tim takes even worse care of himself than the others (on page). Duke is... actually doing pretty okay if not counting the fact that his parents got jokerised and his new family is This. Damian struggles with not killing people and a rampant animal adoption addiction. They all struggle with abandonment issues. The rest of them struggle for screentime. It's like that one vine with the girl who goes "please god, let me have just one good day" and god answers "oh my god you again? give it a rest buddy" where the family (both as a collective and as individuals) is the girl and DC Comics is god."
1 all of them have tried to kill each other at least once
2 bruce wayne is a kind of shitty dad
3 everyone but bruce and alfred were child soldiers (ish)
4 dick grayson has beefed with multiple 12 year olds after he had already grown up and moved out
5 cannot overemphasize the murders and bodily harm
6 one time bruce got lost in the timestream (comics) and everyone but tim thought he was dead and tim was like “hes alive” and everyone kinda bullied the shit out of him for it
7 one time jason got murdered by a guy and then several years later dick put him in prison down the hall from the guy
8 one time bruce beat the everloving shit out of jason for shooting a guy with a blank
9 another time bruce refused to tell jason about who killed his dad despite knowing full well
10 bruce is the main reason jason died at age 15 in the first place
11 the amount of beatings dick grayson took throughout the 50s and 60s is frankly absurd
12 in the injustice universe damian got dick killed and then bruce screamed at damian for “killing his son” despite damian also being his son. then damian joined the league of super fascists against his dad (who beat him up a lot) and then his dad put him in prison
13 bruces uncle isnt in the batfamily but after bruces traumatic orphaning his uncle did more traumatic stuff to him
"Several attempted murders, several arrests of each other, general disdain and massive fights, love that is destructive to all parties, and an inability to communicate"
"they're a family full of extremely traumatized child soldiers whose primary coping mechanism is vigilante justice. many of them have tried to kill each other multiple times. some of them have died & come back wrong. they try their best and they do care about each other but they also get into big blowout fights a lot. they all came from some form of traumatized background before being taken in. the oldest sibling (Dick) had to be a father to the youngest sibling (Damian) for a not insignificant period of time when the dad (Bruce) disappeared; this was immediately after Damian (Bruce's only biological child) had started living with them after being raised in an assassin cult by his mother for the first like decade of his life. Jason died, came back wrong, was groomed by assassins, became a drug lord, & tried to kill multiple members of his family."
"i don't think i can summarise the 80 years of familial dysfunction. my best is just. Batman is the best parental figure some of these kids have ever had. Batman."
"Take your pick of issues. Dead parents, absent parents, abusive parents, addict parents, distant parents, assassin parents. How many people are in the family? Who knows? Everyone deals with personal issues by dressing up and fighting crime in the most depressing city possible. Bruce may or may not have adopted all the kids/plays favorites."
"Bruce is addicted to adopting kids. Bruce. quit putting children into crime fighting. One of them died like how did you not learn. Dick (the first robin) is a huge ass to the next one that comes along (this is the one that died like. Super graphically and horrifically) because Bruce basically fires him as his son and Dick leaves. The one that died rose from the grave, was kidnapped/manipulated for years and has supernatural anger issues (but rightfully should be angry) tries to kill brother Tim who became robin after him for replacing him. He becomes a drug lord and starts cutting off heads. Uses guns for the bit specifically (really funny) (bruce has trauma with guns from dead parents). Bruce mean to Tim when he first comes, then finds out oh shit I have a bio kid raised by assassins that really thinks he’s epic and tries to kill Tim a bunch. It’s practically tradition for his brothers to try and kill him. I love Damian but damn babe. That’s a lot king. He also genetically got the addiction to adopting but for pets. He’s pulling up with cows and shit and keeping them. Cass is perfect and we love her. Duke has a really funny relationship with Jason, and also does some out of pocket shit in the comics (by that i mean like. Dangerous/crazy stuff but in a good way) Alfred is perpetually exhausted with them, mostly bruce. Bruce is emotionally constipated so bad, like crazy bad. This man cannot communicate and is a bad dad a lot bc of it. But he’s really trying and loves them."

Part 3 let's goooooo
Very soon after Tim hangs up his cape, enter Stephanie Brown, daughter of the villain Cluemaster. Steph has been operating as the vigilante Spoiler to directly disrupt her father for a while. She's also known Tim for a while and gets curious when he disappears as Robin. She goes to Batman directly to ask about it and he tells her he had to give up the mantle, but he'd be willing to train her as Robin if she wanted
Steph accepta and becomes Robin at age 15. Her stint as Robin only lasts a few short months because she has a tendency to disobey Batman's orders in the field, causing him to pretty much fire her. Steph is nothing if not stubborn, and she and Bruce got along, so she just returned to the Spoiler persona and kept showing up at his house to eat his food
Bruce also pays her college tuition because he is nothing if not soft. They get along as both people and heroes, they just didn't work as Batman and Robin. Steph is only emotionally adopted as she still has a living mother
Somewhere along this whole Jason-Tim-Steph timeline we get Cassandra Cain. Nit a Robin but important. Daughter of assassins David Cain and Lady Shiva, she is trained from birth so be a weapon. She is not taught to speak or understand language properly, instead that part of her brain is developed to read people's body language to predict their every move and thought
Cass runs away after the first time she is made to kill someone and spends a long time homeless. After saving some lives she's noticed by Bruce and offered the persona of Batgirl. Bruce adopts her after finding out her situation. She eventually changes her personality from Batgirl to Orphan
Orphan's existence as a hero is sometimes debated as a conspiracy because she is so rarely seen, not because she never patrols, but because she's so good at stealth. Cass is learning to talk, read and write, and generally how to be a person
She's very excitable and likes watching her siblings antics. She's been invited to join the Titans by Dick but has yet to accept or decline his offer
Ohh i like herrr
cool!!!

all your tim drake posting lately reminded me of a line from a review of 90s/2000s batman i read a long time ago. "tim drake is the only time batman needed robin more than robin needed batman". do you agree with that take, or have any nuance to add to it?
oh i absolutely agree with that take, though im not sure robin.. ever needed batman more than batman needed robin? i think they definitely needed eachother equally, but tim is an.. hes a case
i was gonna say a lot about the robin mythos i havent quite synthesized yet but ill send a couple pages with commentary instead
A Lonely Place of Dying
the thing about tim is that he becomes robin with shit to lose, unlike known orphans dick and jason who are literally dependant on bruce legally (ward and adopted son) and he isn't really.. bruce's problem cause of this but tim knows that batman needs him. i do generally see tim as being cognizant of the metatextual in some way but the important thing is is that he has been having knight terrors and visions of batman and dick grayson his entire life and knows everything about them. he didnt even initially want to be robin, he basically has no stake in this venture but steps in anyways because he does emotionally. he knows bruce will die of 30 gunshot wounds because of the grief over his lost son was making him not think about what was happening. bruce has an obsession with family the same he does with (gestures vaguely) and even if tim is plainly saying like. im not your surrogate son i will be this symbol though it. well. fate has a funny trick in place for him (mother is killed and father is indefinitely hospitalized)
its why he and alfred click so instantly and so well tbh, they both have this role of being definitely *dependant* on batman to exist and emotionally in the way batman can even be.. indirect emotional support. spiritual support? but they know he relies on them deeply to keep going at any rate.
i think tim feels he owes batman and robin, hes deathly afraid to disappoint bruce to the point that in life or death situations hes afraid not of his own demise but of disappointing him. like.. he knows bruce would probably blame himself deeply if tim died 'under his watch' and treats that as failing him. which is.. a LOT but very different than just dependancy
but batman and robin always needed eachother, and thats gonna happen to tim the hard way eventually
and obvi this isnt even getting into the robins post-tim which are
steph: not a son figure to bruce
damian: actual son
we are robin: a youth movement that were deliberately defined by batman's absence
not to mention that bruce starts getting a lot more people to pick up the slack over time and keep him in line because he cares about keeping himself safe for all their sakes. and also his awesome daughter cass
#dc#sorry if this doesnt scan at all !!!!! its a subject i feel very strongly about#and tim and bruce's relationship is so fascinating
