Alec Hardy NSFW Alphabet
Tumblr media
Alec Hardy x GN!Reader 18+ ONLY / requests are open
BROADCHURCH: @clarina04 @kaylinelizabeth4004 @yeethaw13 @stevekempscocktails @go-bonkers-go-foolish @peytonpenguin37 (send an ask to be added to a tag list!)
A = Aftercare (what they’re like after sex)
Alec is a big fan of post-coital cuddles. He comes off as such a tough guy, but is really just a sweet marshmallow inside. He loves to just have mindless conversations about random things. Sometimes he likes to bask in the afterglow together, but it just depends on his mood if he’s feeling quiet or chatty.
B = Body part (their favorite body part of theirs and also their partner’s)
His favourite body part of his partners’ is their hair. He’s a sucker for pretty, soft hair.
His favourite part of himself is his fingers. He likes to watch them disappear and reappear inside you.
C = Cum (anything to do with cum, basically)
Alec will leave his jaw on the floor if you swallow his cum. Whenever you do this for him, he is absolutely smitten.
D = Dirty secret (pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
Dirty secret following on from the cum HC- he loves to kiss you after you’ve swallowed his cum. The taste of him on your tongue and in your mouth makes him feel the best kind of filthy.
E = Experience (how experienced are they? do they know what they’re doing?)
Alec does not have the most experience, but he’s a fast learner. At the beginning of your relationship, that learning curve was reasonably short as he learnt exactly what made you flush with heat and endorphins.
F = Favorite position (this goes without saying)
Missionary. Alec adores the soft romanticism of missionary- being able to look into your eyes as he rocks his hips against you. The feel of your thighs around his hips, your arms around him as he fucks into you. Absolutely it’s his favourite position.
G = Goofy (are they more serious in the moment? are they humorous? etc.)
Alec is a bit more serious in the moment. He prefers a more romantic than goofy mood for the most part.
H = Hair (how well groomed are they? does the carpet match the drapes? etc.)
Alec is trimmed neatly but lets himself go reasonably often. It is more a time-constraint thing than anything else. He gets so wrapped up in his cases that he forgets to take proper care of himself, and trimming his hair down there isn’t high up on that list.
I = Intimacy (how are they during the moment? the romantic aspect)
King of romance and intimacy during sex, Alec is. For your first time together, he pulled out all the stops with the rose petals, the music ( he even attempted a massage- it was not that great, but you appreciated the effort), soft loving caresses and all the praise you could ask for.
J = Jack off (masturbation headcanon)
Alec gets so wrapped up and stressed when it comes to his cases, that sometimes he ends up just needing to take a break and beat one off. He always thinks of you when he does.
K = Kink (one or more of their kinks)
Alec has a budding daddy kink, as well as a thing for giving praise.
L = Location (favourite places to do the do)
He’s a bedroom man, through and through. Though he doesn’t mind a romp in the backseat, either.
M = Motivation (what turns them on, gets them going)
Honestly, even a sultry look will turn Alec on. He’s incredibly easy to tease.
N = No (something they wouldn’t do, turn-offs)
Gun-play, knife play and he’s not at all big on cnc.
O = Oral (preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc.)
His preference is for giving. The smell and taste of you drives him absolutely wild with pleasure. There’s nothing that gets him off more than going down on you and palming himself or rutting against your shin.
P = Pace (are they fast and rough? slow and sensual? etc.)
For the most part, soft and slow. Very sensual. Though he’s been known to be a bit harsher on occasion.
Q = Quickie (their opinions on quickies, how often, etc.)
Alec doesn’t mind a quickie here and there, particularly when he’s worked up and stressed, but his preference is for taking his time. Lovemaking.
R = Risk (are they game to experiment? do they take risks? etc.)
Alec isn’t huge on risks, but doesn’t mind the occasional fuck on his desk in the office, handy in the car or oral against in the bathroom stall. These are few and far between, however.
S = Stamina (how many rounds can they go for? how long do they last?)
Alec can only really go for two rounds maximum before he’s tiring out and falling asleep, but he does like to go down on you once more after you’ve fucked.
T = Toys (do they own toys? do they use them? on a partner or themselves?)
Alec doesn’t own toys himself, but he’s more than happy to use them on his partner.
U = Unfair (how much they like to tease)
Alec isn’t too much of a tease. He only really teases when you’ve been irritating him on purpose. He will tease you with his head rubbing against your clit or hole (masc and femme anatomy) until you break down and beg him to fuck you.
V = Volume (how loud they are, what sounds they make, etc.)
Alec isn’t super loud, though he does grunt a lot as he gets closer to orgasm. He’s much quieter than others you’ve been with.
W = Wild card (a random headcanon for the character)
Wild card HC is that Alec goes absolutely insane for lingerie. Absolutely adores you in it. Reveres you like a god(/ess).
X = X-ray (let’s see what’s going on under those clothes)
He’s pretty long, and reasonably skinny, and his dick leans to the left when he’s very hard. There’s also a vein that pulses right from the base up the underside of his cock to the beginning of the tip. It’s very sensitive.
Y = Yearning (how high is their sex drive?)
Alec doesn’t have a necessarily high sex drive, but he’s easily swayed into the mood.
Z = Zzz (how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
Pretty much within five minutes he’s conked.

For the Good Omens ask game: 1, 9, 15, 24! :)
Aaaaaahhhhh, thank you so much for asking these questions!! Sorry for responding so late to them, I swear I enjoy them very much!
1. when did you first watch/discover good omens, and how did you find out about it?
I saw the trailer for it somewhere around November 2018 and thought 'Huh, this seems unique, and it has David Tennant in it, I might check that out'. And then I've forgotten about it completely. Then after the premiere of season 1 my dashboard was completely full of it, like, I can't remember how many people I've followed back then, but 90% of them were posting and reblogging posts about it. So I remembered that I wanted to watch it anyway, did it in the course of one week and the rest is history.
9. Have you seen any other work by david tennant and/or michael sheen?
Yes, yes, yes! I was aware of DT as a Tumblr's sexyman, but I first saw him in Jessica Jones, which I also watched because of the posts on my dash, and I became a little obsessed with him for a while. I've seen Casanova (if you guys haven't seen it, do it, it's so freaking good), You, Me and Him, Broadchurch, Bad Samaritan, Des and Inside Man. In my opinion he has a very uneven career when it comes to the quality of the projects he's involved in, which is surprising, but not uncommon (Peter O'Toole is the best example of it). But he always gives his 1000000% and I can't remember not enjoying seeing him performing.
I saw quite a few films with Michael Sheen and liked him before Good Omens, but never to the point of being a fan. I first saw him in The Queen or in Frost/Nixon, then in Midnight in Paris and Nocturnal Animals. Oh, and in the Twilight Saga obviously! Then after Good Omens I've watched Underworld, Wilde, Far From the Madding Crowd, and Prodigal Son. I'm planning to get back to watching Masters of Sex, he's so good in it. He's an acting chameleon and I don't that before Good Omens the fact that he's all those characters ever clicked in my head
Oh, and Staged! Obviously!
15. Do you have any good omens playlists?
I'm a dinosaur and I don't use Spotify or Youtube to listen to my music; there was one Good Omens related playlist that @racketghost created for @mochacoffee fic Call Me Your Angel (that was the name of the playlist too), but it's not on Spotify anymore. I've recreated it on my iPod, so I can't share it anymore, but I'll try to bully Racko to make it again.
24. what's a theory for season 3 that you NEED to be included?
My theory (which for me isn't even a theory, it's just so obvious I can't imagine it not being included in season 3) is that Metatron will try to erase Crowley from the Book of Life and that's what will make Aziraphale rebel against Heaven again; the same can happen to Aziraphale or to them both.
I would also LOVE to know what's up with Crowley not remembering some of the other angels and demons and why does he have passwords for Heaven's files (personally I would hate it if he turned out to be Raphael or was some another Heaven's VIP, I'm just curious about it).
EDIT: I just have stumbled upon gifs from Fright Night and yes, I've seen it too. How could I forget it? I have very good reasons to remember this film fondly, very, very good reasons.

Hi Mod and anons, I love when I’m away for a day and everything kicks off with so many topics on here, BH’ 🍑 🕳, British shows, blog wars, so much to unpack. But I have to tell you that yesterday’s show was so sweet. I can’t find another word to describe it. He does his job really well. I brought a friend from work with me. It was interesting to get her take as a member of the GP. I love that he opens with Daydream. It’s the best. He had really high energy and his voice sounded so good. The jumpsuit was so good. He was just a sparkle ball. Had a super heart attack when that hole in the stage was open. It really freaked me out. I kept thinking it was an optical illusion. But then I saw him actively avoiding it and I was like when are they going to get that hole closed it was super scary. I kept thinking he was going to forget and fall in. I have to say he seems more his age now. I know that might sound weird but he looked younger and more fresh faced. My friend from work said he seems so kind. Everything he said was so nice and sweet and thoughtful. There wasn’t snark or cheekiness. Just a really solid show. Although it seemed from my seat that they really turn up Nyoh’s microphone. Or maybe she just sings and plays loud. The horns add so much. Make it so good. I love how everyone screams more for Sarah than any other band member. Ok so as far as his butthole goes I cannot comment since I haven’t seen it. Safe to say I’m sure he’s pretty comfortable being seen naked and doesn’t care what people think. British TV shows that I find the best, the Mighty Boosh, Miranda, spaced, Friday night dinner. Dramas: Unforgotten , line of Duty, Broadchurch, Shetland, The Bay, Karen Pirie. Gosh there’s so many I can’t list them all. Tell this other blog to mind their own business. This the best blog and we can say whatever we want. Also can’t believe I bought a $50 tshirt. Harold I hope you enjoy that Ferrari. 👵🏼
you’re an icon and i love your updates.

Could you do a Vardy thing where Lucian is afraid of Hardy being in sunlight because of what usually happens to vampires, and especially because of what happened to Sonjia?
Okey-dokey!
Even though he has seen Hardy outside, the weather was probably cloudy in the few times they've met during the day at this point in their relationship (the early days, when Hardy didn't trust Lucian all that much).
On with the fic!
--
It was a bit alarming to see Hardy so openly walking around outside, a rare ability for a vampire to do.
Yes, Lucian had met a few in his many years who, due to where they lived, could easily move about due to limited sunlight, or they adapted to it and could stand it for a few hours. But most died so easily in the horrible light of the sun.
It was not a sight that Lucian ever liked to see, nor one he could ever forget.
Hence, if he found vampires, he always tried to do it without the help of the sun, though UV lights allowed for a good defense.
Still, here in Broadchurch, where it was still early spring, not quite summer yet, the sun hadn't been around much. Too much cloud coverage, so maybe the kind of vampire Hardy was allowed him to move about easily when there was limited light?
It was weird, but the idea of Hardy burning actually made Lucian uncomfortable. He figured that this man knew how to deal with his limitations and weaknesses, he seemed the type to do so. But then again, Lucian also knew that Hardy clearly didn't take the best care of himself, as shown with how easily he became winded and dizzy, the coldness of his touch and clear lack of a strong heartbeat. Lucian could barely hear it when he was close enough, and even when he could, it had too slow of a pace.
So, Hardy could be forgetful, end up in the sun when it showed up through the clouds, and get hurt.
Why would Lucian need to worry about a man who didn't like him anyway? This wasn't any of his business, really.
But something about seeing him hurt bothered Lucian greatly, he couldn't let the man be stupid enough to allow himself to be harmed by a vampire's main weakness.
So, on this mildly warm, spring day, he trailed behind the detective.
It was surprisingly easy, the vampire stood out so easily in this town, even if nearly everyone except three people knew what he was. He didn't match the locals, so Lucian could keep a distance, but still see him.
The cloud coverage was still thick, enough for it to be bright outside, but not powerfully so. But when the sun broke through, he watched as Hardy, who had been stepping down a flight of steps to the beach, covered his eyes, looking a bit pained, and Lucian suddenly moved on his own.
Hardy let out a shout when Lucian threw his coat over the man's head. "W-what the fuck!?" He lifted it up, glaring at whoever had done that, only to see Lucian standing before him. "What the hell, Lucian!?"
But Lucian didn't say a thing, he grabbed a hold of Hardy's arm, bringing him down and moving him to stand in the shade under the platform of the stairs. Hardy looked annoyed and alarmed, staring down at Lucian.
"Bloody-! You've finally gone mad, haven't you?" He hissed, baring fangs in warning.
Lucian ignored the weak attempt at a threat, instead looking towards the sky. Looks like the sun was going to be out for a bit, the clouds weren't moving much.
Then it seemed to hit Lucian what he had done and he stepped back, feeling embarrassed and wanting to knock some sense into himself, what the hell, you don't just do that in broad daylight!
"Sorry, I just..." He looked up at the sky. "You're out in the daytime."
"Yes..?" Hardy raised an eyebrow, Lucian noted he hadn't removed the jacket from his heat yet. "And?"
"How are you... how are you alright in the light of the sun?"
Hardy looked at him funny and shrugged. "I honestly have no idea. I mean, it's always been like this, since I was bitten. Thought it would kill me the first few days after I woke up, but the worst is does is give me a nasty sunburn and makes me itchy if I'm out for more than two hours or so."
Lucian felt some of the tension he hadn't noticed before leave his shoulders. "So, you're alright?"
"'Course I am! Wouldn't be working day shifts if I wasn't." He huffed. "Why do you care?"
"... Because I don't like to see vampires burning in the sun." Lucian said after a long pause.
The detective stared at him, as if trying to read him. His hardened face softened just a bit and he removed the jacket, holding it out to Lucian. "Thanks for trying to protect me, but trust me, I'm alright, I know my limits on this."
"And yet you starve yourself of blood." Lucian replied as he took back his coat.
Hardy made a noise. "You sound just like Miller. And she also did what you did, thinking I was going to burst into ash. I'm fine, really. I think the kind that I am is from somewhere sunny."
Did he really have no idea? Hmm, a vampire from a sunny location would most likely adapt to being out, that makes sense.
Lucian had a feeling he was going to have to do some research on this vampire.

While I absolutely won’t diminish the obstacles he faces as an out actor, I still do think Jonathan Bailey probably stands to have the best post-Bridgerton career. He was the most established and accomplished (Olivier) before the show. He’s played both gay and straight roles. He is, imo, easily the best actor on the show (in a cast of talented people). He’s worked with prestigious creators already—something no one else in the cast really has. Michaela Coel and Phoebe Waller-Bridge both regard him well still since they’ve each given quotes about him for interviews. Of the leads so far, I think he has the best foundation and the most talent to parlay Bridgerton into something better.
Oh I completely agree but I think with the way the internet collectively exploded when RJP appeared on our screens and with many people thirsting over Simone Ashley and calling for more interviews with her, there's a very high chance that those two could also have the same success.
I also think that if they ever give him anything outside of comedy and sex scenes, Luke Thompson has just as great a chance as JB. He already puts so much nuance behind Benedict with what little he's given and I think in terms of the Bridgerton siblings he's the closest to JB in skill and unpacking his characters imo. Although Claudia Jessie is also fantastic.
You forget that Jonathan Bailey worked on West End for years before Bridgerton, so he had the opportunity to work with people like Samantha Barks and Marianne Elliot along with his TV credits in Doctor Who and Broadchurch, which directly puts him in contact with greats like Peter Capaldi and David Tennant. Jonathan Bailey is gonna succeed after Bridgerton because he's a smart working actor and knows how to make connections and spread out his resume. Bridgerton merely launched him into the public spotlight much like RJP.
So yes, he's gonna have a great post-Bridgerton career not just because he's talented but also because he spent most of his life working to ensure that he had those connections and enriching his resume to the point where anyone would be an idiot not to hire him.

Hello! I have no idea if I'm doing this right! Whould you be open to recieving an ask about your deleted works later? And if not you still have so many lovely fics! I love your works dearly but the one I'm currently rereading is "Tadfield's Finest" : 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 11, 13 and any other question you would like to answer.
Hi anon! Yeah, deleted works are alright if there's anything you'd like to know more about :)) 2: What scene did you first put down? I can only write fics in proper sequence so the very first scene lmao 3: What’s your favorite line of narration? I think the part where Aziraphale shelters a soaked Crowley with his umbrella and Crowley tells him how he got that bruise on his cheek! “Slipped and banged my head on the sink, alright?” Crowley grumbled, averting his gaze. It was the most uncool thing he’d ever seen Crowley do, but his heart still stirred at the sight. The flash of anger he’d had mellowed down to light amusement, slipping easily into a kind of fondness that could only be justified by someone so madly in love as he was. He liked it, Crowley admitting this to him.  It made him feel like he had a piece of Crowley with him. 4: What’s your favorite line of dialogue? “Don’t want you to think I’m doing it because I’m nice.” His (Crowley's) cheeks turned a light shade of pink. “I do it because it’s you. I mean, surely you know that.” 5: What part was hardest to write? I honestly don't remember anymore which specific scene was the hardest for me but I think a more general answer would be ALL the smut scenes because this was my first smut fic ever and each time I posted an update I was SO nervous about what people would think about it. 9: Were there any alternate versions of this fic? Umm so confession i guess but Tadfield's Finest came from an older idea I had for a Bill Masters/Alec Hardy fic that never came into being 😂 I chickened out of writing it and then later on decided to rehash the whole thing as a Good Omens human AU, so I guess you can imagine an alternate version would be somewhat the same story but with Hardy as Crowley and Masters as Aziraphale 11: What do you like best about this fic? I love that it's a mix of a lot of my interests! Ineffable Husbands, Broadchurch (STILL my favorite show ever), detective/mystery fics (because before GO i mainly wrote for murder mystery genre fandoms), and high fluffy romance with a happy comforting ending. It's also the fic that really got me into writing Good Omens, so even though I periodically forget this story I'm still very fond of it for being a huge step for me as a fanfic writer :) 13: What music did you listen to, if any, to get in the mood for writing this story? Or if you didn’t listen to anything, what do you think readers should listen to to accompany us while reading? This was so long ago so I don't remember exactly, but I THINK it was a lot of Japanese 80s city pop. Off the top of my head, some songs I recommend are 'Misty Mauve' - Tatsuro Yamashita, 'Tell Me, Tell Me' - Mariya Takeuchi, and 'Dream in the Street' - Noriyo Ikeda When writing, I also like to look for 2 to 3-hour compilations of city pop music like this one :)) I find that when I listen to English songs it distracts me cause I'm also writing in English, so Japanese is always my go-to for that 😂 (and also, because I'm formally studying Japanese, it kind of helps me learn the language by osmosis) Thank you so much, anon! You made me relive a lot of happy memories with this x Tadfield's Finest Ask me about any of my fics!

Appreciation for the 13th Doctor, why I love Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor
This has taken me forever to write, so I hope at least I few people read it. Granted, once I start talking I can’t shut up. I’ve seen an array of hate towards Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor, and I thought it would be nice to write a post on why I personally love her and why she’s my favourite doctor. And no, it’s not because she’s a woman. Though, it was one factor. And for context, I’ve been watching doctor who since I was a child, and my old favourite used to be the tenth doctor, so it’s not because I haven’t seen previous seasons either.
I’ll get this one out the way, the thirteenth doctor is a woman. This is a big deal for me, in a positive way- I’ve always looked up to the Doctor, always wanted to be like him, for years I wanted to cosplay him as well but as a feminine lady I wasn’t comfortable with cosplaying a man. Then Jodie comes along, she’s everything I wanted in a female doctor, I never through in a million years we would ever have a female doctor. When I first watched The Woman Who Fell To Earth, I just started tearing up,
Tumblr media
This. This moment. Because in this moment I though, yes. This is the Doctor. And she’s wonderful and brilliant. What I love most, is her personality didn’t change because she’s a woman now, she doesn’t really wear makeup, she still wears a tux, she’s not bothered about the way she looks, it’s just nice to have a female characters who’s so heroic, kind, and intelligent. It just hit differently for me watching her. She doesn’t forget.
Now, one can argue there’s not much continuity and 13 doesn’t mention her past, which I can understand why you would think that but I disagree.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here, you can see she still remembers her past, and is still hurting from the ones she lost, from Rose, Martha, Donna, the Ponds, Clara, Bill, etc etc. And with the fez reference, and little lines like “Talking about wasps, have I ever told you about me and Agatha Christie?” Or “Half an hour ago I was a white-haired Scotsman!” Keep long term viewers happy, while not completely alienating new fans, as I feel with series 11+ it’s like a blank slate for new viewers to get into the show, which in my opinion is a good idea.
Another thing I really love about the thirteenth doctor, is how positive and hopeful she is.
Tumblr media
I feel like each doctor symbolises different things, and to me I feel like she’s represents hope and positivity. I really love this about her because I have a lot of personal issues where it leads me to feeling a bit down, but when I watch her Doctor I always feel a lot more happier, positive and hopeful, and for me I really appreciate that.
I also really love how witty she is. Now, I know every Doctor is a little bit quirky and funny, but I find 13 one of the best. She’s a little bit childish, excitable, cute. I love the running gag of her forgetting that she’s a woman now, it’s a nice touch that’s unique to her Doctor.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Doctor’s speeches are always spine chilling. and for 13, it’s no exception. I love how protective she is of Earth and humans, as previous Doctors have been. A lot of people say the writing isn’t all there, I get where you’re coming from but I personally like it, especially moments like:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She’s confident, she’s protective, she’s loving. It’s just something I really love and appreciate with her Doctor. I  feel like she always wants to do the right thing and will always put everyone first before her own safety.
Talking more recently, I like how she interacts with The Master, she’s not trying to reason with him, convince him to travel with her, mend their friendship, she’s just done. She is sick of him at this point,
Tumblr media
She’s rolling her eyes, she’s taking no chances. It’s different, as with Ten, he was doing anything he could to convince the Master to see the universe with him. With Twelve, he wanted Missy to stand with him. with Thirteen and the Master, she isn’t interested. She just wants to save humanity.
I also love the family dynamic. I know we’ve had that before with Rose and the Ponds, but having the entire ‘fam’ as she would say, in the TARDIS with her, idk I find it really cosy and nice. A lonely traveller finding a family to show them the universe with is just really nice, and in my opinion a lot better than having one companion where they /usually/ fall for the Doctor.
Finally, I want to talk about Jodie Whittaker’s acting. I’ve been hate for her online saying she can’t act, which I disagree with, have you seen Broadchurch? Anyway, for this, it’s not fair to blame Jodie for what is the writer’s fault. I like series 11 but its undeniable that Jodie doesn’t have many chances to truly shine as an actress. However, I feel like this is changing in series 12, I especially liked her acting when seeing the destroyed Gallifrey, and how angry she looked when listening to the Master admit her did it. With hope, public opinion of her will change after this series.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Right, well, I think I've babbled on for enough about Doctor Who. If you’ve made it this far, I am surprised with your patience! And if you disagree with me, that’s fine of course! We won’t always agree or like the same characters and that’s completely fine, as long as it’s respectful.

hello! was curious: you always write abt hannah and alec post-sdoacg or mid-broadchurch. how much chaos do you think there’d be if alec was more present in her life *during* sdoacg?
Hi! I’m not sure what you mean by chaos, but the ficlets I’ve written that are set during SDOACG tend to be angsty, so that gives you an idea.
If we’re going with my “they’ve been friends since before she became an escort” headcanon, I think there would be a lot of tension between them. Hannah wants Alec, but he’s married. Although Alec doesn’t admit it to himself, the woman he loves is sleeping with half of London and picking up shitty boyfriends along the way.
On the other hand, she definitely could have used someone stable and reliable like Hardy. And he could have used an escape from his work. So I imagine there would be a lot of arguments, but also a lot of late night phone calls just to talk, and some showing up unannounced to vent and laugh and feel safe with each other.
▹ Excerpt from a WIP set during SDOACG and before Broadchurch:
[It’s Hardy’s birthday party. Hannah is surprised Tess invited her, she goes with her boyfriend, Alex. During the party, Alex receives a call from the hospital and has to go back to work. Later, Hardy offers to drive Hannah home. They’re alone in the car on the way to London.]
Suddenly, Hannah straightens up on her seat. “Oh fuck! I forgot your gift.”
“Don’t,” Hardy says.
“Don’t what?”
“You’re gonna say something about a blow job and I don’t want to hear it.”
She laughs. “Who’s got a dirty mind now? I have such a good influence on you. And I wasn’t going to say that, but now I want to.”
“Shut up.”
“Is Tess going to do that for you tonight, then? For once.”
“Dunno.”
“Right, if you knew you wouldn’t have offered to drive me home. You’d have stayed home and kicked everyone out.” She pokes her toes into the side of his thigh. “I would blow you and not just on your birthday.”
“You already do it all the time, what’s one more man?” Hardy replies.
“Knob.” She laughs and slaps him on the arm. “Does it bother you, how many penises have been in my mouth?”
She likes to shock him, test him.
“… I don’t like thinking about it. It’s not disgust, it’s… I don’t like thinking about it.”
“Well, my dentist has never complained.”
“About putting his penis in your mouth?”
“No! About— I’ve got great oral hygiene is what I’m saying. It’s not disgusting.”
“Right.” He slows the car to catch the exit lane. “If memory serves you weren’t that good at it anyway,” Hardy says, a smirk betraying his tone.
“What?! You did not just say that. Take it back,” Hannah cries.
He shrugs. “Meh.”
“Shut up! You used to come so fast.”
“I didnae!”
“Besides, I haven’t sucked you in, what?, five years? I’ve learned a lot. You wouldn’t last a second.”
“That a challenge?”
They laugh, but this time it’s uneasy. The conversation dies down as Hardy focuses on navigating London traffic.
The car slows in front of her building. She looks up, there’s a light on in her flat-- Alex probably. She doesn’t get out.
“You live together?” Hardy asks, his voice rising slightly. “It’s serious.”
“Yeah.”
She doesn’t say more, she wants to see his reaction, his jealousy. She thinks his fists are clenching around the steering wheel, but she can’t be sure.
“No, we don’t,” Hannah relents. “He’s got a key, but it’s not like that. He did me a favour, let the plumber in when I couldn’t be there, and I don’t know how to ask him to give it back to me.”
The engine’s still turning. Rain spatters across the windshield. Alec’s doing that thing with his jaw when he’s not saying what he’s thinking.
“Does he know about your job?” he asks at last.
“Hmmm….”
“You haven’t told him. Hannah!”
“I know, I know, I’m waiting for the right moment.”
She slouches in the seat and bites her thumbnail.
Hardy scoffs at that.
“I’m slacking off though,” she adds.
“How do you mean?”
“I’ve been seeing fewer clients… I just don’t feel like it.”
“Oh, so you’d quit for him?”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Forget it.”
“You never like any of my boyfriends,” her voice rises.
“You never love any of your boyfriends.”
“Well, maybe this time it’s different.”
“He… he doesn’t even know you!”
“Christ, you’re worse than Ben.”
“Don’t get me started on him.”
Despite herself, Hannah laughs. Hardy’s serious dimples disappear, and he cracks a smile too.
“You can’t keep me for yourself, Alec,” she says softly.
“I don’t want you to get your heart broken again.”
Hannah glances out the car window again, at the illuminated living room where her boyfriend is waiting.
She rests her head on Hardy’s shoulder. “Keep driving.”

Reading the Doctor Who series 12 scripts.
I’ll go more in depth but as of right now my initial impressions are:
- I love Vinay Patel’s scriptwriting and he does work well with Chibnall, complimenting Chibbs rather sparse writing. Patel is very descriptive and he knows how to use the right words to paint a picture.
The TARDIS spins through galactic colours. Inside the TARDIS, GRAHAM, RYAN and YAZ scattered across the upper steps of the TARDIS --looking at THE DOCTOR who's at the controls. She's tetchy, hitting things, switching things. A dark mood.
This captures the mood and the scene really well and what everyone is feeling at the moment.
My next favorite script and writer is definitely Maxine Alderton -- the words and language and how much she’s able to work with an ensemble without forgetting anyone (*stares at McTighe*).
I love the poetry of Maxine’s words and the monologue Thirteen gives? Even in prose form I can feel the tension. The script really, really helped Jodie Whittaker access that part of The Doctor, IMO. I am really glad Alderton will be back for series 13. I won’t be opposed for her to rise higher in the ranks (unfortunately, Patel is leaving to produce his own show).
Charlene James is also a very descriptive writer too and I enjoyed Can You Hear Me? Unfortunately, its not a strong script as it’s winding down.
And, weirdly, I think Orphan 55 is more compelling on page than it was on screen -- especially the snark. I enjoyed Jodie’s delivery and that’s because the script practically sings with it.
Chibnall’s scripts are almost exactly what they are on screen and unfortunately the things I found weak watching Timeless Children are still the same reading his script for it. The things I did love were the mythmaking parts of Gallifrey. This is something that, in a 24 episode season could have seeded in more, IMO. But then again, I’ve mentioned this since watching Broadchurch and Torchwood -- he isn’t really great with endings IMO.
But there are hidden gems in his writing like:
THE DOCTOR, sat on the floor, huddled up, in a distant corner. Traumatised. The room dark, mournful, in flight. Close in on the Doctor. Something beeps. She reaches in her pocket. A tiny round device --a close smaller cousin to a Gallifreyan confession dial. She activates it.  A hologram of O pops up.
Like, damn. The implication of that -- a close smaller cousing to a Gallifreyan confession dial. The Master must know what the Doctor initially thought it was, for a split second. And now it feels like the dark mirror of Twelve giving Missy the Doctor’s confession dial.

2019: My year in K-Dramas - Part 2
And we’re back! So, um, yeah, this took a lot longer than I imagined at first, but the truth is I was also dealing with coursework and other projects. As a result, I decided to break this last post into two, so instead of 6 shows in 1 post, you get 6 shows across 2 posts, building anticipation like a kdrama! And, I mean, two of those shows are My Love from the Star and Descendants of the Sun... Those two powerhouses deserve a bit more attention, maybe a couple of rewatches. Anyway, let’s get this show on the road!
WARNING! I’ve purposefully kept any big spoilers out of this post but some light spoilers may remain. Proceed with caution.

When the Camellia Blooms (2019)
Tumblr media
Gong Hyo-Jin as Oh Dong-Baek and Kang Ha-Neul as Hwang Yong-Sik.
Release Date: September 18 - November 21, 2019
Episodes: 20
Available on: Netflix
Summary: Dong-Baek is a single mother who moves to the town of Ongsan to open up a bar, the Camellia, while trying to raise her son, Pil-Gu. Six years later, Yong-Sik, a police officer and the youngest son of Dong-Baek’s only friend in Ongsan, returns and is instantly smitten by her. Yong-Sik is determined to woo her but Dong-Baek is also equally determined to resist his advances at first, a situation that is further complicated by the sudden reappearance of Dong-Baek’s ex and Pil-Gu’s biological father, Kang Jong-Ryul, who tries to win her back. When a serial killer known as Joker resurfaces after years of inactivity threatening to go after Dong-Baek, Yong-Sik launches an investigation to catch the elusive Joker once and for all.
What I liked:
The down-to-earth feel of the show. Save for the murder mystery element of the show, When the Camellia Blooms is pretty down-to-earth, depicting characters that could very much exist in our neighbourhood and exploring problems related to everyday life. How many kdramas show the struggles of a single mom trying to handle a love life while raising her son? I bet there are not a lot of them, and the only similar one I’ve watched, and would recommend, is One Spring Night, that depicts the life of a single dad balancing a romantic relationship while raising his son (it’s probably a more realistic representation all around down even to side characters). Even Yong-Sik is not the idealized male protagonist that most kdramas favour, at one point referred to as a “country bumpkin” by Dong-Baek’s ex, and while he may come across as rather simple-minded, he’s also refreshingly honest, determined (both in his pursuit of Dong-Baek and Joker), hard-working, and always there when the chips fall. While Dong-Baek’s ex is an ass for the majority of the show, I appreciated his inclusion because it clearly showed the contrast between the two characters vying for Dong-Baek’s affections: the man who pities her, and the man who encourages her; the man who’s ashamed of how she’s living her life, and the man who’s proud of what she has accomplished; the man who loves his memory of her, and the man who loves her as she is now; her past, and her present. Which one of the two will become her future?
Tumblr media
The supporting cast. I am going to put them all together in the same bag as I don’t think anyone was particularly outstanding, but they all contributed to making this show a most entertaining watch from beginning to end: from Yong-Sik’s superior and chief of police, Byun Bae-Soo (played by Jeon Bae-Soo), through the simple-minded landlord with political aspirations, Noh Gyu-Tae (played by Oh Jung-Se), his cunning wife and ace attorney, Hong Ja-Young (played by Yeom Hye-Rae), to Dong-Baek’s kleptomaniac friend, Choi Hyang-Mi (played by Son Dam-Bi). At one point I even became more interested in the relationship between the characters of Gyu-Tae and Ja-Young, so strong were their performances. And I couldn’t help but feel sad for Hyang-Mi despite her many opportunistic deeds, a character who’s had a life as unforgiving as Dong-Baek, especially when we learn the reason behind some of her actions, and happy for her when she realises family isn’t always blood and ultimately chooses to walk a path of redemption. Sure wish we had seen more of that. You could make the case that Gyu-Tae and Hyang-Mi are the best out of the supporting cast, perhaps because of how much their characters grow over the course of the show.
What I didn’t like:
How the murder-mystery was handled/resolved. The first episode starts with the murder of an unknown person at some unspecified point in the future, a typical enough hook. We’re shown that person is someone who Yong-Sik apparently knew and cared for, but even when later episodes extend that scene frame by frame, tempting the audience to participate in this game of whodunit, the identity is only allowed to be revealed when the series catches up to that moment. The murder mystery element is sprinkled throughout the series as Yong-Sik is intent on protecting Dong-Baek and catching the serial killer Joker. But this isn’t Broadchurch, where the entire show revolves around solving the murder mystery and seeing its effects on the people of the small town of Dorset. No, in a way, the murder mystery in When the Camellia Blooms feels like a strategy, designed so that when the real goal of the show is revealed, the exploration of motherhood, you’ll be too invested to back out. One could argue the same for the romance between Dong-Baek and Yong-Sik. As a result, the murder-mystery feels drawn out and starts losing some of its steam as we approach the final episodes. Involving Dong-Baek’s mother in the whole affair was oddly convenient but felt out of place and worked against the show. Here we have a woman who knows, or thinks she knows, who the killer is several episodes before the end, and not only does she not tell the police about it but she actually confronts the killer. In any other show, the outcome would have been inevitable: the woman is murdered, leaving the police another clue as to who might have done it. However, since the show has already planned a happy ending for this character, she can’t be killed (incidentally, this happens with another character as well), even if the show later tries to toy with our feelings by suggesting she’s dead (not because of Joker though). The reveal of the culprit’s identity was a letdown, not only because the writers showed their hand early on but because we were never really given good suspects to begin with, and in a murder mystery that’s essential. Yes, we’re given a good pool of suspects for Joker’s latest victim, but since we also know Joker killed other people and is targeting Dong-Baek, not to mention the tone and themes of the show, we can readily eliminate almost all of them. They could’ve toyed around with the idea of a copycat, killing a person and pinning it on Joker, but they didn’t. And don’t get me started on how they finally catch Joker, this dreaded serial killer who had managed to avoid capture for years but turned out be to a bit of a joke, pun intended.
How insufferable Pil-Gu became towards the end. To be fair, I blame the adults (and writers) in this show more than I do Pil-Gu. I had no qualms about how his character had been handled for most of the show, but then along came Episode 17, where the writers decided to amp the drama to 11 just for the sake of it, a trope I really don’t like. Basically, through a series of misunderstandings that no adult feels compelled to clear up, Pil-Gu throws a tantrum, accusing her mother of not loving him anymore, and why does she need to get married, and why can’t she live alone with him for the rest of her life, etc., etc., forgetting it was Pil-Gu who, earlier that episode, had asked Yong-Sik to stay at their home and protect his mom. Like I said, nobody even bothers to explain the situation to him (even though he’s shown to be pretty smart and should’ve probably figured it out himself) and, worse, Dong-Baek plays along and decides to break up with Yong-Sik, determined never to love anyone other than Pil-Gu for the rest of her life. Jesus. As if wanting to twist the knife further, Episode 18 ends with a grown-up Pil-Gu, a jarring and decidedly out-of-place transition, suggesting he grew up to be a fine man as a result of her mom’s decision, but anyone who’s ever watched a kdrama knows better than that: you’re just padding out events for the sake of drama and this show didn’t need that. At this point, I lost whatever appreciation I might have had for the character of Pil-Gu and was half rooting for Yong-Sik to be promoted and get his ass back to Seoul ASAP, never to return to Ongsan again.
The existence of Episode 18. Yes, this is the episode where Dong-Baek and Yong-Sik break up, but that’s not what I’m getting at as I discussed that point previously. Episode 18 also sees Pil-Gu suddenly want to live with his biological father out of a misunderstanding (so many misunderstandings in these last few episodes!) and Kang Jong-Ryul try to act as that father to him. It’s clear he’s out of his depth with Pil-Gu, but he seems to be trying so it feels jarring when Dong-Baek returns for Pil-Gu and punches him in the face. Look, Jong-Ryul has been a bit of an ass throughout so he has more than earned that punch but not in this context. The show immediately kicks in the music that depicts this as a moment of triumph and personal growth for Dong-Baek but I kept thinking, “The one time this dude is actually trying to step up to the plate, assuming his responsibilities as a father, and he gets punched for it? Sure, he’s not that great but he’s only had Pil-Gu for, what, a week? Less? And it’s not like he kidnapped him or anything. This doesn’t even make sense.” And what growth are we talking about when she immediately caters to the whims of a kid and breaks up with Yong-Sik? Who is the adult in this relationship? Are there any adults in this show? There’s a decidedly marked absence of fathers, and those there are aren’t shown in a very good light but that’s another matter. Episode 18 is, quite simply, an episode that shouldn’t exist as it really brings nothing to the table and only pads out the inevitable.
OTP: While not my #1 pick amongst the shows I watched in 2019, it was refreshingly different, with the show slowly building their relationship in spite of Yong-Sik’s relentless attempts to woo Dong-Baek. In any other show, such determination could’ve come across as annoying, perhaps bordering on harassment, but this is mitigated by Yong-Sik’s sincere personality, his active listening of Dong-Baek’s problems, his support and encouragement of her, and ultimately his respect of the boundaries set by Dong-Baek, a woman who is not accustomed to such repeated shows of affection and is ill-equipped to handle them. It was very rewarding to see her evolution as a character, finding the confidence to grow out of her shell, even if there were some flaws in the journey.
Tumblr media
Verdict: While the show trips a little at the end it was a solid watch, and I could see myself returning to it every once in a while because of its mundane (and I’m using this word as a compliment here) aspects. It doesn’t hurt it has some good humour in between all the crying. Oh, yes, there’s a reason why I chose that particular gif to represent the relationship between Yong-Sik and Dong-Baek.
Rewatch meter: I’m going to cheat and say it’s Medium-to-High.

Bring it on, ghost (2016)
Tumblr media
Kim So-Hyun as Kim Hyun-Ji, and Ok Taec-Yeon as Park Bong-Pal.
Release Date: July 11 - August 30, 2016
Episodes: 16
Available on: Netflix, Viki
Summary: Park Bong-Pal is a 2nd year Economics student with a side job as an exorcist due to his strange ability to see ghosts, a fact that has prevented him from having a normal life and that he deeply resents. One night, while performing an exorcism at a high school, he comes across Kim Hyun-Ji, a former high school student turned wandering spirit, who has no recollection of her past but possesses an innate talent to fight ghosts and spot their weak points. During this encounter, the two accidentally kiss, and Hyun-Ji briefly recalls some of her memories. Convinced Bong-Pal holds the key to her memories and determined to find out more, she manages to persuade a reluctant Bong-Pal to let her move in in exchange for helping him fight ghosts. But Bong-Pal soon learns that not all ghosts are evil, and some may be even cute enough to fall for.
What I liked:
Tumblr media
Kim So-Hyun as Kim Hyun-Ji. Do I need to add anything further? That picture should be enough evidence in and of itself. Kim So-Hyun looks like she’s having a blast acting as a kickass high-school student/ghost who has a penchant for upsetting Bong-Pal and looking criminally cute while doing so. With a personality like that, it’s no wonder Bong-Pal couldn’t help but fall for her. Who wouldn’t? Perhaps what makes her character so lovable is precisely the fact that she works off of Bong-Pal’s more curt personality. As they say, opposites attract.
Tumblr media
Lee David as Kim In-Rang and Kang Ki-Young as Choi Cheon-Sang.
The humor. I’ll admit that I miscalculated with these two in the beginning, resigning myself to having to endure their interventions in what I felt was shaping up to be an otherwise great show. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find they made for some good comic relief, especially after they convince Bong-Pal to let them handle the business side of exorcising ghosts and join him and Hyun-Ji in their nightly escapades. That sounded better in my head. The humor is never crass and, most importantly, it never outlasts its welcome. Hey, they even try to do him a solid and hitch him with his crush, but Hyun-Ji has already managed to work her magic on him unbeknownst to her. In fact, much of the show’s humor is also a credit to the comedic rapport between the characters of Bong-Pal and Hyun-Ji, especially in the earlier episodes when their different personalities are most notable, but also later on when feelings of jealousy start to surface. Their playful bickering is often reproduced in some of the background music used and is also present in some of the ghost fights as if saying, “Yeah, we’re fighting a pervert ghost in a sauna and having a blast, what of it?”
The formula. What do I mean by that? For the most part, this show works like a procedural, with Hyun-Ji and Bong-Pal fighting the ghost of the week in each successive episode, while at the same time having a multi-episodic story-arc. This is the formula used in US TV shows: introduce an interesting story-arc in the first few episodes, then forget all about it until the final episodes of the season, with filler episodes in between. The difference being Bring it on, Ghost is actually a good procedural: there are no filler episodes, every ghost fight serves a purpose, whether it be to develop our protagonists (at times providing interesting backstory) or to strengthen their bond, and the main story-arc is always subtly running in the background until the paths of our protagonists and villain cross and events come to a head. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, US TV shows should seriously consider having shorter and tighter seasons, as their quality suffers otherwise. Bong Pal and Hyun-Ji’s ghost fights will also sometimes include moral or life lessons that flow naturally and never feel forced; nobody’s beating you over the head with them and shouting, “DO YOU GET IT NOW?!” As you can imagine, they’re certainly more subtle than US TV shows, but then again kdramas seem to have mastered the art of telling a lot without actually saying it, something others could learn from.
What I didn’t like:
The amnesia trope. Look, before you say anything, I understand why it’s there, sorta, it’s a reversal of Kim Hyun-Ji’s clinginess (that is an actual word) to Bong-Pal, if for different reasons. I don’t mind that it happened, but what I do mind is that it’s never reversed, making it somewhat difficult to believe that she’d fall for a stranger in what appears to be a very short amount of time. You could argue she’s unconsciouscly attracted to him given their past connection, and the show does at one point suggest that she may be regaining her memories, or that it’s possible at least, but nothing comes of it. This sudden bout of amnesia also offers her temporary protection from the villain, but at the end of the day I am left thinking that the show could’ve done without it or reverse it at the very end.
OTP:  It’s a team effort, but Kim So-Hyun kills it!
Tumblr media
Verdict: An infinitely rewatchable show with an all-around solid cast and great sense of humor. Like Strong Woman Do Bong-Soon, this show is sure to put a smile on your face if you’re feeling down or if you simply want to have a good time.

One More Time (2016)
Tumblr media
Kim Myung Soo as Yoo Tan, and Yoon So-Hee as Moon Da-In.
Release Date: October 26 - December 14, 2016
Episodes: 8
Available on: Netflix
Summary: Yoo Tan is the lead singer of an indie band called One More Time, together with his girlfriend, Moon Da-In, and his childhood friends. However, with bills mounting and his hopes for success dwindling, his relationships take a turn for the worse. When he’s offered to sign a contract with a music label, Yoo Tan sees his long-awaited chance and decides to burn all bridges to his past life, but an unexpected event that forces him to constantly relive the past twenty-four hours makes him reconsider his outlook on life.
What I liked:
The concept. The idea of being stuck in a time loop is not a particularly new one, with Groundhog Day being the most obvious, and highly entertaining, exponent, although I do remember an episode of Stargate SG-1 called “Window of Opportunity” that exploited the same concept, if to a different effect. As in Groundhog Day, One More Time uses this idea as a vehicle of self-reflection for the main character, transforming him from a bitter, selfish, and somewhat egocentric person, to someone far more likable, who recognises the value in the friendships he has forged and rediscovers the love he holds for the woman who has always been there for him. But this is only the prelude to our story as One More Time extends this concept by providing a reason for the time loop: tying it to Moon Da-In’s life, or death. In Groundhog Day, Bill Murray’s character, Phil, is eventually confronted by the fact that, for all the things he can do as a result of the day resetting, he cannot prevent death no matter how hard he tries. This is a sobering moment for our main character. However, Yoo Tan goes through an even more harrowing crucible, as the person whose death he seemingly cannot prevent is his girlfriend, Da-In. Thus, the series shows us Yoo Tan’s many attempts to save her while delving into Da-In’s past. Will he succeed and get a second chance at a life with Da-In? I guess you’ll have to watch the show for that.
youtube
The songs. With a running time of 240 minutes, give or take, don’t expect a large soundtrack (compared to most kdramas), but I believe that is something that actually works in the show’s favour, as the songs are always used to highlight a given context, thus engraving them in your mind and rendering them memorable. I don’t really know how to explain it, and I blame my musical illiteracy. Sadly, the powers that be didn’t think that such a short web series was worthy of having a physical or even digital soundtrack release, what made finding any trace of these songs rather difficult for the past few years. Fortunately, one of the composers and singer, known as ODD, has recently released some tracks on her YouTube channel. These are: ‘Moonlight,’ ‘Birds,’ ‘Without you,’ and ‘In this night.’ While ‘Moonlight’ is my personal favourite, all four tracks are entirely deserving of being released, at least on Spotify so I can listen to them over and over again. With Spotify apparently coming to South Korea this year, that may yet be the case. There is also the main song, ‘One More Time,’ sang by none other than Kim Myung Soo himself in perhaps the most emotional scene in the drama, but it still remains elusive.
The leads and their chemistry. I had absolutely no trouble believing these two were in love with their longing stares and beautiful smiles. Kim Myung Soo and Yoon So-Hee did an incredible job (and the writers too, obviously) selling me on their relationship in such a short amount of time. At every point in the show I could understand where the characters were coming from, how much they cared for one another, and why they’d go to great lengths to protect their better half. Yes, they go through a rough patch at the beginning of the show, but that only makes it feel more real and it’s a necessary stepping stone in Yoo Tan’s character arc. I also really liked how the show took the time to explore Da-In’s past and see events from her perspective, highlighting just how central her character is to the plot of the story. Can’t say anymore for fear of spoilers. Really wish these two actors were to collaborate again in main roles.
Kim Ji-Young as the Grim Reaper. The way the show integrated a Grim Reaper was well thought out, and making her a child was a stroke of genius played to great comedic effect. I mean, who’d think this cute child was the embodiment of Death? Her childlike appearance is contrasted by her adult personality, and you can see she’s more than a bit fed up with troublesome humans who make her job more difficult than it already is, and she grows increasingly annoyed at a particular pair of them. I’ll let you guess who. Come to think of it, she reminds me a little of the older version of Samshin, the goddess of birth and fate, from Goblin. A great character all around without whom the show would be considerably lessened.
Tumblr media
What I didn’t like:
Honestly, there’s really nothing that comes to mind. Sure, I could nitpick and say that some characters and storylines are dropped midway through the show, but I think it’s fair to say they had served their purpose, and trying to account for them in later episodes would’ve wasted the show’s valuable runtime. Could it have benefited from having a few more episodes? I suppose it’s possible, and I would’ve welcomed the chance to spend more time with these characters, but I believe the show was effective in telling its story across eight episodes, and any more could have placed the narrative under considerable stress. For instance, while I absolutely love Angel’s Last Mission: Love (incidentally, also starring Kim Myung Soo), one has to admit the plot was stretched longer than it needed to, and certain events do not hold up under further scrutiny.
OTP:
There is no sadness that last for eternity. There is no love that lasts for eternity either.
I’m going to vote that there is.
Which one are you voting for? Love or sadness?
Sad love.
Verdict: They say that good things come in small doses. If so, that fits this show perfectly. It was my introduction to Kim Myung Soo, who would then go on to deliver a stronger performance in Angel’s Last Mission: Love, as well as my introduction to Yoon So-Hee, whom I’d love to see in more main roles. While delivered in a short format I’m not used to, the show’s creators made the most of it and not a single minute feels wasted. An interesting concept that benefits from some tight writing, beautiful music, solid leads, and a lovable OTP, packaged as a mini-series. What more could I want?

“I forget about the hair. As I’m Scottish I think there’s a bit of red in there anyway. I’m very used to it now.”
Sporting locks that could blend with a pillar-box is a guaranteed way for someone to turn heads. David Tennant is used to attention, given his starring roles in Broadchurch and, of course, Doctor Who. Having committed to the look by dyeing his hair from day one of the shoot, however, he seems surprised when I mention it. It’s also a reflection of just how naturally he has taken to the figure whom Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman describe in the novel as “An Angel who did not so much Fall as Saunter Vaguely Downwards.”

Warnings: ANGST, mental health issues, graphic depictions of violence, blood, cursing, mentions of sexual assault, mentions of sex, substance abuse.
Summary: The not so peaceful town of Broadchurch face dead again, while Alec Hardy continues his journey to redemption will this school teacher be the key to solve the mystery or just another victim of the ever watching evilness that seems to reside in the town.
Hi, I'm changing the format of my links to the other chapters because I'm running out of space, I took forever I know, but I hope you like it.
First Previous Next
Chapter 9: Red Fire
In the middle of a dirty road a blue BMW 3 series belonging to Jonathan Norbury was surrounded by at least half a dozen of agents, when Hardy arrived however they couldn't tell him anything important, except that the suitcase was neatly packed and had some documents inside.
"Something in the glove compartment?" He asked one of the guys that was classifying the findings.
"A two way train ticket to London, tuesday at 9:00 am and back Sunday at 5:00 pm" he start, and showed him the evidence bag, "Condoms, a lighter, and some spare change" He listed and he momentarily observed the bags, and a small black tube call his attention.
"What's that?" He said picking it up and examining the object "Give me a pair of gloves"
He opened the bag and take out the cylinder, it was a lipstick he opened and could see the worn out product of a bright shade of red. And he looked at the cap one more time, it had engraved "My Goddess" over the brand logo.
"Big spender huh?" The agent said.
"What do you mean?" Harford said looking as puzzled as Alec at the lipstick.
"It's a Giorgio Armani lipstick, in the shade Red Fire but it's personalized, you can ask for engraved gifts in that brand, it's quite expensive" He look a little embarrassed by their even more curious look "My daughter makes YouTube videos" He said trying to explain himself "I listen to what she says and help her buy stuff" and then in a professional voice he add "It was under the passenger seat"
"Well, make sure is classified and don't take it home, is not your tone anyway" Harford said trying to joke with the officer and hide a proud grin when Hardy hide a small laugh.
SOCO Brian Young was enjoying lunch with his girlfriend, and even when her mind was still on the case she was trying to be polite enough to have a light conversation with him.
"Have you thought of what I asked you?" He said after the waiter left their food on the table, it was a nice quite terrace, but Ellie's mind was somewhere else.
"Ahh yeah, I have" she said a bit blindsided by the question "Look Brian... I have loved our time together and I know it makes sense to move in together..."
"Move in together?" He asked trying to sound surprised by her remark, preventing the upcoming disaster "No, I meant of spending next weekend away on the City,I mean you are going to need a break and I'm sure Tom will like it"
"Oh" She sighed in relief "Sure, I mean I hope this is clear by then, but I will love too, I'm sure my boys will like it" She was about to add something about his other proposal but then the reflection of a pair of sunglasses caught her attention "Would you excuse me just a second I have to use the bathroom"
He nodded and watched as she walked away thinking that maybe it was for the best to give her more time if that meant more chances to get the answer he hoped for. Because besides everything he was in fact falling in love with her.
"Excuse me, madam." Ellie said to a woman that was fixing her make up in the mirror "Are you the principal from Broadchurch Primary School?" She said politely, not entirely sure about what had driven her to speak up.
"Yes, I'm Annabel Saunders, pleasure to meet you" She was an older woman probably in her fifties, yet she had a proper way of talking, and a slightly Scottish accent "You are Ellie Miller, Mother of Thomas, I remember you from a few years ago. How can I help?"
"I'm so sorry to ambush you like this, but I was wondering about one of your employees, Miss Y/L/N, and what could you tell me about her, when was the last time you saw her?" She said.
"Well last Friday of course, she ask me permission to leave early, poor thing, had a terrible headache, I suggest to take her home but she said a friend was picking her up. And since she had to work the weekend with the elderly and the troublemakers I left her go, who could have thought of what was coming to her?" She said changing completely Y/N recollection of the facts.
"So you didn't saw her last Sunday?" Ellie asked trying to not sound alarmed.
"Oh no Detective, some of my personal works the weekend with special classes for the old, or to regulate their students. But I'm not always present. I'm sorry is that important? I have her assistance card at the school, you can go look at it, I'm heading there" She said and Ellie nodded yes, before going away to make an gave a hurried excuse to Brian.
Mark Latimer was playing with Lizzie and Freddy in backyard, while Beth took pictures on her cellphone, it was simple and beautiful domestic pleasure, one that you never got to experienced, and now you'll never will, your mind said and the tears fight to cloud your view again.
It was curious, you haven't make your mind about the kids thing, but Jonathan did, maybe it was another excuse to keep you inside of the house, but maybe you wouldn't mind to have a beautiful baby with his eyes... no you couldn't keep like that, you centered your attention in thee dishes that you offered to wash since your stay had been prolonged now that detective Hardy haven't found somewhere else for you to stay.
Alec Hardy, you have listened to him screaming trough the door in Dr. Florence waiting room the Wednesday of the previous week "AND YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO KNOW ABOUT MY SEXUAL LIFE OR MY FAMILY" but it wasn't his fault, therapy could be a nerve wrecking experience.
Nevertheless you couldn't forget the first time you saw him. It was Sunday after the bar incident, and you made an appointment with the shrink to calm down Jonathan and for Ashley sake.
He was there wearing a cozy navy blue sweater, it was nicer than his usual suits, but he was too focus pretending to read a magazine to pay attention to you. Not like you wanted him too, but since he had picked Freddie a couple times at the primary school you have been curious about what could be so sad in his life to have that expression on his eyes.
It was finally your turn, and you stand up to get inside, maybe the sudden movement made him react but for a brief moment his eyes were on you and you couldn't help it and gave him a smile, and he take you by surprise smiling back. But before he could say something Jonathan was already arguing with Dr. Florence to get inside.
He was like that when he cared about something, ridiculously obstinate, like with his electronic shop, when he spend two weeks building some benches for the church, and wanting to marry you against his mother wishes...
"Shit!" You had press a wine glass to tight and it broke in your hand making a cut on your palm, and the blood began to spurt rapidly, it was so red, like Jonathan's blood in your wooden floor, like his shirt... who was that?
You tried to found a paper towel to stop the bleeding, and suddenly a succession of memories invade your head, he was wearing a red shirt and smell like bourbon and coke, he smiled at you at the club... bur you couldn't place his face, and then Jonathan was screaming at Ashley at home, it was all your fault.
And now he was dead, that was also your fault, You did this a voice keep saying in your head, No I didn't, I didn't, please stop saying that... you keep repeating it, but the voice screams louder, and the pain in your hand is growing, the memories begin to swirl in your head, the letter the two pages crumbling in your hands, Jonathan's car, where have you left it? And you couldn't keep this thoughts from coming to your mind, and your inner voice was not strong enough to make them stop so you had to scream.
"IT WASN'T ME, I DIDN'T, I SWEAR I DIDN'T DO IT"

London, 1953.
Detective Inspector Ezra Z. Fell hated nights like these. He wished he was working on a case in his office. Or even better, he wished he was home, book in one hand and a glass of port in the other. But tonight he was following up on a lead.
The only good part about working a Sunday night was that it had led him to Eden, a local pub that Ezra knew well. It was run by an interesting character. Mr. Anthony J. Crowley was someone who an officer of the law probably shouldn’t like. He always wore sunglasses, even inside his own dimly lit pub. He had a smile that said he was up to no-good and an air about him that said he was clever enough to out-smart anyone who stepped into his domain. Not to mention, he didn’t seem to care about the dodgy things happening in the dark parts of his pub. D.I. Fell wasn’t entirely certain Mr. Anthony J. Crowley wasn’t the one behind the dealings either.
Yet, all this hadn’t stopped Ezra from going into the pub every week after work. (Honestly, it was the only good place anywhere near the station for a decent wine and a delicious supper.)
Mr. Crowley knew Ezra by now. He wasn’t sure why, but Mr. Crowley always seemed to have a moment to talk with Ezra, even on busy nights when it looked like the man could do with a few extra bartenders and certainly had no time for chit-chat. They had gotten to the point where, Ezra couldn’t imagine a week without seeing Crowley (the food was an excuse, and he knew it, but he tried to remind himself how delicious the bread pudding was.)
Ezra was in plain clothes tonight, and he hoped Crowley wouldn’t notice him, or wouldn’t mention to anyone here that he was an officer. The man that Ezra was looking for supposedly frequented the pub on Sunday nights. Since Ezra usually came on the weekdays, he hoped the man wouldn’t recognize him and he could easily get information out of him without causing a fuss.
Unfortunately, Sunday night seemed to be a busy night for Eden. It was packed, wall to wall with men crowding around the radio that wasbroadcasting a local game. Crowley was nowhere to be seen. (Ezra hadn’t decidedif this was good or not, though his stomach sank when he didn’t see Crowley behind the bar.)
When an hour passed, and Ezra was no closer to finding his lead, he decided that enough was enough. He pushed past the crowd and made his way behind the bar. No one seemed to mind, and he didn’t wait to find out. He slipped past the bar and found himself in a cramped hallway. He opened the first door to his right and found a pile of boxes and racks of cleaning supplies. He opened the next door, expecting to find an empty office or dingy break room. What he found was Anthony J. Crowley sitting at his desk, with a man straddling his lap, and the two were passionately snogging.
As soon as the door opened, the man broke the kiss and whipped around. Ezra had seen him a few times. He was a regular at the pub. Which meant he knew that Ezra was a D.I. With a start, the man jumped up and made a run for it. At top speed, he ran into Ezra, pushing him back against the hallway, and before Ezra could catch his breath, the man was out the door, and presumably out of the pub.
“Thought I locked that.”
Ezra, dazed, looked up to find Crowley standing from his chair, pushing back his hair and straightening his tie. He wiped his lip with his thumb, and Ezra was keenly aware of what he had just interrupted. His sunglasses were off, and despite the situation, he couldn’t help but note that this was the first time he had seen Anthony’s eyes. They were an interesting honey-brown color.
“Leave or shut the door, Ezra.”
He realized that he had been staring. With conviction, Ezra pushed himself off the wall, walked into the office, and closed the door behind him. It wasn’t until he heard the door click shut that he realized that this might be a bad idea.
“Well?”
“Crowley,” Ezra said, surprised that his voice was even.
Crowley rolled his eyes. He dropped back into his desk chair and materialized a pair of sunglasses from one of the desk drawers. He popped them on, “Well, are you going to run after him? Or am I the bigger fish?”
“I…” The words stuck in his throat. He stumbled before he said, “I-I’m not here for that.”
“No, I didn’t think you would be,” Crowley leaned forward, his elbows propped on the desk. “But when you find a robbery in the middle of a murder investigation, I also assume you just don’t ignore one crime for another.”
“No. No, of course not,” Ezra fumbled, still trying to process what he had just seen. Certainly snogging didn’t count as illegal under that particular law, did it?
“So? Are you going to arrest me for indecency, Detective Inspector?” Crowley cocked his head to the side, as if he was merely curious and not at all worried about the outcome.
After a long, long pause, Ezra let out a huff.
“Of course not!” Ezra gritted his teeth, throwing his hands in the air.
“Really? The honorable D.I. Fell isn’t going to turn me in?” Crowley raised a brow.
“I’m not here for that!” Ezra said, knowing it sounded like a childish whine.
“Yes, as we’ve established.”
“Stop acting all- all- cool!” Ezra stammered out. “You know I’m not going to arrest you.”
“Do I?”
“Obviously!”
“Obviously,” Crowley mocked. “And why would I know that?”
Ezra narrowed his eyes at him, but the more he glared, the wider Crowley’s smile became.
“Look, let’s just forget about it? Yes? Good. Now can you please help me find this man? I’ve been on his tail for a week.” Ezra said, trying to put the last minute behind him. He held up a slip of paper with the man’s name and information.
Crowley stood up and stalked forward. Ezra held his breath as Crowley stepped into his personal space, his sunglasses level with Ezra’s eyes. He was far too close, and yet Ezra didn’t move.
“Anything for you, Ezra.”
Ezra felt his breath hitch.
Crowley smiled. He took the paper. Then he turned the door handle and slipped past Ezra in a smooth motion, leaving Ezra to watch him saunterdown the hallway with a swing in his hips.
