i feel. like there is a balance to strike between distinguishing what is actually scrupulousity and what is genuinely you feeling guilty because God is convicting you of something. like yeah theres a point where you're just making yourself miserable over things that hold no consequence because you're terrified of doing something wrong. but. i think. that if you can find good (scripture-supported) arguments for why this God wouldn't want you to do this thing, to then dismiss that as scrupulousity is just deliberately closing your eyes to it.

Scriptures for queer people
I like that the scriptures show life is messy and complicated. God works with really flawed people and they learn to measure up and do amazing things. The scriptures are full of contradictions as people try to figure out God’s will and how it applies in their situation. The scriptures show that God’s people are a mess and often get it wrong. These are the chosen people? In that case, I’m doing alright. 
God is an out-of-the-box thinker who wants to be inclusive. The scriptures teach me that God values a relationship with me, will adjust things so the gospel works for me and my situation, and God can help me do amazing things.
I'm not claiming to be an expert or that people should agree with my interpretations. I'm simply sharing how I am thinking of these verses when I apply my viewpoint and experience as a queer Latter-day Saint
Instead of concentrating on all the specific answers & rules, I look for the overarching themes of the scriptures, I can apply those principles in my life and to my life’s situations. Some principles & teachings are more important than others, we can use the more important ones to help us think about the rest. The Bible emphasizes love, equality, & justice, we can use these to filter which messages are important for us and which should remain in the past as part of ancient cultures. For example, the Biblical principles of loving other people as yourself and treating others how you want to be treated should cause us to dismiss slavery even though the Bible allows it. Would forbidding someone from marrying who they love while allowing yourself that opportunity fit with the Biblical principles of love, equality, & justice? No.
I think most people view the Bible as decidedly anti-queer because certain “clobber passages” are regularly used against queer people. A closer inspection of those “clobber passages” shows when put back in context they’re not quite what people think. For example, ‘don’t have gay sex...as part of worshiping a pagan god.’ For the record, straight sex that is done as worship of another god is also condemned, but nobody goes around saying all straight sex is banned.
The verses people like to use to condemn homosexuality, when put back into their cultural context and original language, they are condemnations of sexual exploitation and abuse which was common in the ancient world. They are not condemnations of loving, consensual same-sex relationships. The marriage doesn't define what marriage is, so how can people claim the Bible is against same-sex marriage?
There’s queer-positive scriptures that are usually ignored because they don’t fit the anti-queer narrative people want the Bible to have.  
We’re also taught in Matthew 7 that good principles don’t bring forth bad results (“a good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit”). If teachings are bringing forth bad outcomes for a whole group of people, then we should discard those, they aren’t good.
It's sad to me that so much of modern Christianity identity is about being against LGBTQ people and against abortion when those things are not condemned in the Bible, but the Bible goes on and on about forgiving debt, liberating the poor, healing the sick, and loving others. Where are the sermons and Sunday School lessons on forgiving student debt, guaranteeing health care to every person, loving our LGBTQ+ neighbors, and decrying racism? The Bible has a lot to say about protecting women and children. Do we have preach more about queer people and abortions than we do condemning domestic violence, sexual assault, and molestation?
If every Christian church congregation in the United States decided to provide resources to help every child in foster care reconnect with their family or get adopted, each church would need to help only 1 child and there'd be none left in the foster care system. Same for the number of homeless people each church would have to help get into a home for there to be no more homeless people. Christians could transform the nation and the world if they actually applied the lessons taught by Jesus.

Genesis 9:20-27 - Noah & Ham : It’s wrong to use this passage to justify the enslavement of people, and to be against love between consenting gay adults
Genesis 12:1-3 : A blessing to all families - If we choose to harm rather than to bless queer families, then we are not the people of God
Genesis 16 - Hagar : We may still be required to deal with difficult situations, but we have a God who hears us, a God who knows us
Genesis 19:1-11 - Sodom & Gomorrah : It’s ironic THIS story is used against queer people when its message is the opposite
Genesis 19:26 - Lot’s wife turned into a pillar of salt : She became a memorial to the destruction of two cities and likewise we need to witness and bear record of the suffering and marginalization of queer people
Genesis 21 - Hagar, Part 2 : God finds all of us in the wilderness
Genesis 22 - Rejection of Ishmael and Binding of Isaac : We aren’t asked to sacrifice our queer children, doing so may cut us off from God

Matthew 6:27 - Can’t change your height or extend your life just by thinking about it : Queerness is not something we can simply choose to change. Thoughts, prayer, & faith aren’t going to change this part of who we are 
Matthew 7:9-12, 16-20 - If his Son Asks for Bread, Will He Give Him a Stone? : Our Heavenly Father is more liberal in his views, and boundless in his mercies and blessings, than we are ready to believe or receive

Matthew 8:5-13 - The Centurion and his ‘Servant’ : Jesus holds up a gay man as an example of faith for all to follow
Matthew 9:18-26; Mark 5:21-34; Luke 8:41-56 - Woman touched the hem of Jesus’ garment : She persisted in getting what she needed. Queer people have to persist to get what they need
Matthew 10:29-31 - God knows of every sparrow that falls to the grown and has numbered every hair of your head. You are worth more than many sparrows : You can trust that God isn’t squandering souls, isn’t creating queer people while simultaneously condemning them for being queer
Matthew 12:50 - Who does Jesus proclaim as brother, sister, and mother? : Chosen Families
Matthew 13:24-30 - Parable of the Wheat and the Tares : This parable teaches that the wheat and the tares can’t be separated until the very end. That to pull up tares would also uproot the wheat. Whichever one we are, we’re inseparable from each other. We can’t remove them without removing ourselves. Only Christ can tell them apart and will separate them. However, a lot of people think they can tell, and unsurprisingly, they always think they’re the wheat, and often they assume queer people are the tares
Matthew 14:22-23 - Peter Walks on Water : Queer people need to believe in ourselves, that’s when miracles happen

Easter : Jesus' resurrection can be read as a coming out story. Jesus came out into a changed body and new way of life. Likewise, queer people come out into a new identity and can never go back to what it was before. Others may look back and see your empty tomb that contains your deadname & the misgendered identity of how they saw you, but they'll also see your life reborn as you move forward in your new identity.
Mark 1:10-11 - God Knows Us, We aren’t a Mistake : Many queer people get messages of love from God
Mark 1:32 - Jesus is teaching that under certain circumstances it’s okay to break the rules about the Sabbath.
Mark 2:1-13 - Friends Lower a Paralyzed Man through the Roof to be Healed by Jesus : Better to break the house than to break the person
Mark 2:15 - Jesus invited sinners & disciples to His house and fed them : We also can invite people to our homes for meals as a way to show we love them and want them in our lives. As Ben Schilaty likes to say, “Love the sinner, invite them to dinner.”
Mark 2:27 - The Sabbath was Made for Man, not Man for the Sabbath : We don’t have to break ourselves against the commandments. They’re for our benefit, not our harm
Mark 9:17-27 - This is a story of demonic possession which causes the individual to act in strange ways, and when the demon(s) is cast out the person is healed : Today we use medicine and counseling because we understand diseases and mental health issues. When we know better, we should do better.
Mark 10:46-52 - Ask People Questions and Listen : “We need to listen to and understand what our LGBT brothers and sisters are feeling and experiencing”
Mark 12:30-31 - Love God and Love People : There’s no greater commandments. How do we love queer people, and do they recognize how we treat them as love?
Mark 12:41-44; Luke 21:1-4 - The Widow’s Mite : Jesus condemns making the widow impoverished and the same applies to queer people who are asked to sacrifice all they are
Mark 13:24-37 - Fig Tree’s Leaves Show Summer is Near : Members are trying to build a church that’s more inclusive of LGBTQ+ people. Maybe summer isn’t near, but perhaps it is Spring as it seems the winter chill is thawing
Luke 1:27 - Mary is a virgin : The Greek term parthenos normally referred to an unmarried woman of marriageable age, because in their society an unmarried female typically hadn’t yet had sex. As a missionary, I learned the Korean language does the same thing, all unmarried women of marriageable age can be referred to as a virgin, even though some unmarried women have had sex. But if we keep with the tradition that Mary was in fact a virgin as we think of that term in English, and she did not conceive through ordinary means but through the Holy Spirit she produced an offspring without a human father, then that raises some interesting questions. For example, the Y chromosome is inherited from the biological father, which calls into question how is Jesus a male? Could this suggest Jesus is trans?
Luke 1:37 - Nothing is impossible with God...except for LGBTQ+ people getting into the Celestial Kingdom, at least that’s what some Christians believe
Luke 1:78-79 - Give Light to Them that Sit in Darkness : Going from the darkness of the closet to the dayspring when we learn our Heavenly Parents love us
Luke 2; Matthew 1:18-25 - Nativity Story : Queer people can see ourselves in this story
Luke 2:52 - Jesus Increased in Wisdom and Stature, and in Favour with God and Man : Jesus didn’t marry, as a church we need to reprioritize what is important 
Luke 3:12-14 - Jesus was able to meet people where they were at. He didn't ask the Roman soldiers to stop being a Roman Soldier. Jesus told him to be just and virtuous in his soldier duties. How does this apply to queer people?
Luke 3:23 - Jesus began His ministry at age 30 : There’s no rush, come out when you’re ready
Luke 4:16-30 - No prophet is accepted in his own country : Jesus understands the hardships & joys of ‘coming out’
Luke 4:17-21 - What did Jesus come to do? : Do we liberate or oppress queer people? Do we share God’s abundance with them or withhold it?
Luke 7:36-50 - Woman who Anoints Jesus’ Feet : Queer people’s tears wash Jesus’ feet 
Luke 10:25-37 - The Good Samaritan : Members of the church avoid the injured man, or perhaps are even the ones who hurt him
Luke 13:24-30 - The First Shall be Last and the Last First : We’re gonna be surprised at who gets into heaven
Luke 14:15 - an ass or an ox fallen into a pit : Under some circumstances it’s okay to break a commandment/covenant
Luke 15:1-7 - The Lost Sheep : The 99 sheep are also sinners but they think it’s just the 1 who is lost
Luke 15:8-10 - The Lost Coin : The woman’s joy at being reunited with her lost coin is like God’s joy at being reunited with a queer person.
Luke 15:11-32 - The Prodigal Son : Queer People go on a journey similar to the Prodigal Son
Luke 17:34-35 - One Shall be Taken, and the Other Shall be Left : There shall be two men in one bed; two women shall be ‘grinding’ together, some of them are saved and some aren’t
Luke 22:10 - A Man Carrying a Pitcher of Water : A man not conforming to gender norms is mentioned without any negative connotation
Luke 22:33-34 - Paul will deny Jesus 3 times : What if Jesus tells Paul to deny Him so that he would live to lead the church? Queer people sometimes deny being queer in order to be safe (especially when they’re in the closet)
Luke 22:50-51 - After Peter Slices Off a Man’s Ear, Jesus says “No More of This!” and Heals the Man’s Ear : One day Jesus will say to those who harm queer people, “No more of this!”
John 1:11 - His own received him not : Many queer people experience being rejected by their families and loved ones
John 3:16 - Whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life : Despite what some teach, Jesus didn’t come to earth to condemn us, but to save us. Unfortunately, some Christians add “unless you’re queer, in which case you can’t have eternal life”
John 4 - Jesus meets a woman at a well and points out she has had 5 husbands and now lives with a man to whom she is not married : What’s interesting is Jesus doesn’t call her to repent or command her to stop sinning. Contrast this with purity culture. 
John 6:37-39 - I Shall Lose None of all Those He has Given Me : The Church may cast out, but Jesus does not
John 8:2-11 - Woman Caught in Adultery : Jesus stood with the woman, not the religious leaders
John 9:1-3 - Who sinned, the blind man or his parents? : We all have inherent value and should be respected and loved
John 10:10 - I am Come that They Might have Abundant Life : A Harvard Study found Relationships are key to happiness, as are having good health, being educated, having coping skills, and giving back to the community. This is how to have joy, don’t deny this to queer people. 
John 11:43 - Jesus Helps Lazarus to Come Out : Coming out of the closet can feel like going from being dead to coming back to life, or to being fully alive
John 13:23 - John, whom Jesus Loved, is Laying against Jesus’ Breast : Could John & Jesus be in a same-sex relationship?
John 13:26 - Jesus feeds Judas : Jesus never excluded Judas, Judas excludes himself. So why does the church exclude queer people and treat us as enemies?
John 13:35 - By This Shall Men Know Ye are my Disciples if Ye have Love One to Another : To be Christian is to love others, including LGBTQIA+ people
John 14:1-3 - “In my Father's house are many mansions...” : Christ doesn’t tell queer people there’s not a place for us
John 20:15 - Supposing Him to be the Gardner : Jesus is our Gardner
Acts 1:15 - Peter has a dream where God commands him to consume food that his religion considers “unclean.” Peter is reminded that it’s God who gets to declare what is clean and may even contradict the law : This passage shows that God’s promises and beloved community are not defined by our own rules or boundaries, or even by our understanding of God’s law. God is constantly drawing us to love our neighbors
Acts 8:26-39 - Apostle Baptizes Eunuch into the Church : The early Church welcomed queer people. When will the modern Church allow queer people to fully participate?
Acts 10:15 - What God Hath Cleansed, that Call not thou Common : People who were traditionally excluded are welcome
Acts 10:34 - Peter declared “God shows no partiality”
Acts 17:28 - God has a Womb : Do we use the image of God to see the Divine in all of us or do we use God to diminish others?
Romans 1:20 - To Know God, Look at the Things God Created : What does the diversity of different sexual orientations & gender identities tell us about God?
Romans 1:26-27 - Vile Affections : People use this against gays, but it’s really directed at straight people
Romans 8:38-39 - Nothing Separates us from God’s Love : Nothing can separate us from the love of God. Not church leaders, not metaphorical muskets, not the church
Romans 10:12 - There is no distinction between Jew & Greek, the same Lord is the Lord of all, bestowing riches on all who call on Him

Devotional Scripture:

Thought for the Day
We all are prone to trust our own understanding rather than the Lord. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." A fool rejects good counsel and stubbornly trusts his own inclinations. He is wise in his own estimation. Intelligent people consider themselves to be wise, and usually are - but with mere worldly wisdom. Godless, intellectual people are knowledgeable about many things, but knowledge "puffs up." 1 Corinthians 8:1 says, "Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth." Pride makes it difficult for people to turn to God and learn true wisdom. Many intellectuals see no need to believe in God or for a nation to follow His laws. They measure everything by their own understanding, reflecting Lucifer's pride. The arrogant person who trusts his intellect and rejects the Bible as untrue is a greater fool. "The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God" (Psalm 14:1a). This is because he simply relies on his own opinions and instincts and neglects God's Word. Man's wisdom alone, without God, will eventually fail him.
Pride is a deadly sin. David cried out to be delivered from the sins in his life which were hidden from his personal knowledge. "Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression" (Psalm 19:12-13). He especially asked to be held back from sins of presumption that would lead to the sin of the "great transgression." I believe that great transgression is pride. Exalting oneself in one's own thinking is the opposite of God's character. It is especially wicked if it leads one to exalt oneself above God. As we saw, Satan, originally named Lucifer, committed this great transgression. Though he was the anointed cherub, his heart was lifted up because of his beauty. He corrupted his wisdom for the sake of his splendor. In his pride, he desired God's throne and set his will against God's (Ezekiel 28:12-19). Because he chose to rebel, he lost his position in heaven and will be banished to hell (Isaiah 14:12-15).
"Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men" (1 Corinthians 1:20-25).
Prayer Devotional for the Day
Dear Heavenly Father, we want to pray as David did, for deliverance from the great transgression of pride. Lord, show us any sin in our lives that we are blinded to seeing, so that we may repent. Set us free from those things that would keep us from becoming like You. Lord, I desire to have a humble heart before You and before others. Help me not to be condescending to others, but to prefer others and esteem them. May we all give honor to whom honor is due, and especially may we not only honor You but also bring honor to You. FOCUS AND LITURGY OF THE WORD
The Passion of God
Scripture so often rouses us.  We sink into our routine.  Grumbling about the workload.  Not enough pay, not enough recognition.  I do more than my share.  We measure and weigh; our spirit contracts defensively.
Paul writes from prison: call on God for your strength and resist evil.  You are needed in the struggle for justice.  The gospel of peace will draw fire.  Do not hide from the battles that surround you.  Hold up your faith and stand firm.  Above all, pray always.
Looking for a symbol of perseverance, Paul found the Roman soldier.  The armor, helmet, sword, and breastplate of the warrior are transformed.  Those who follow Christ are sheathed in his presence, so hold fast.  Do not draw your strength from weapons, but from the piercing and saving word of God.
Where do they struggle for justice?  Where do they proclaim peace?  Where do they resist the cry for war?  Am I with them?  God, give me the courage to hold my faith high.
The death threats continued.  Jesus was a marked man who would not be silenced.  Still he healed the sick, drove out evil spirits, and prophesized against the leaders of Jerusalem: you who will kill me in due time do not see the destruction bearing down upon you.  Even your mighty temple will fall.
Searching for expression of his love for us, Jesus found the mother bird.  Don’t you see how deeply I long for you?  Seek shelter under my wings.  Come home.
The evils of our day will not separate us from the love of God.

SAINT OF THE DAY
Saint Wolfgang of Regensburg
(c. 924 – August 31, 994)
Saint Wolfgang of Regensburg’s Story
Wolfgang was born in Swabia, Germany, and was educated at a school located at the abbey of Reichenau. There he encountered Henry, a young noble who went on to become Archbishop of Trier. Meanwhile, Wolfgang remained in close contact with the archbishop, teaching in his cathedral school and supporting his efforts to reform the clergy.
At the death of the archbishop, Wolfgang chose to become a Benedictine monk and moved to an abbey in Einsiedeln, now part of Switzerland. Ordained a priest, he was appointed director of the monastery school there. Later he was sent to Hungary as a missionary, though his zeal and good will yielded limited results.
Emperor Otto II appointed him Bishop of Regensburg, near Munich. Wolfgang immediately initiated reform of the clergy and of religious life, preaching with vigor and effectiveness and always demonstrating special concern for the poor. He wore the habit of a monk and lived an austere life.
The draw to monastic life never left him, including the desire for a life of solitude. At one point he left his diocese so that he could devote himself to prayer, but his responsibilities as bishop called him back. In 994, Wolfgang became ill while on a journey; he died in Puppingen near Linz, Austria. He was canonized in 1052. His feast day is celebrated widely in much of central Europe.
Reflection
----------
Wolfgang could be depicted as a man with rolled-up sleeves. He even tried retiring to solitary prayer, but taking his responsibilities seriously led him back into the service of his diocese. Doing what had to be done was his path to holiness—and ours.

Liù'ěr Míhóu joins the JTTW-gang, or: How to redeem an all-hearing Spiritual Monkey with a superiority complex and bad attitude
(A/N: Yes, I know the title is too long. No, I won't change it. :3
Edit: Warning: In the first few chapter the Six-Eared Macaque is spoken of with she/her pronouns, because he's afab and the other pilgrims don't know yet, that he's transgender.)
Chapter One: Sūn Wùkōng is not happy
.
“Stop.”
Wùkōng paused in his movement and blinked.
The Buddha approached the quarrellers with a measured step – when had he come down from his Lotus Throne? – and stood between them.
“Put your staff away, Sūn Wùkōng”, he ordered calmly. “Don't give into your anger and defile these sacred walls with murder.”
The Monkey King lowered his staff.
Tathāgata¹ smiled serenely. “Better. Now, let's allow our six-eared culprit here to give us an explanation, hm?”
“She impersonated me, hurt my master, stole our luggage and Heaven knows what else she did! What else is there to explain?!”, Wùkōng snarled.
“The why.”
“I don't care why!”
“I care. And I could bet, that soon you will too.”
“I ain't making any more bets with you”, Wùkōng deadpanned. “Ever.”
“Glad, that you've learned that lesson”, the Buddha chuckled and turned to the Six-Eared Macaque, who was still cowering on the floor, shielding her head with her arms, as if that would've protected her against Wùkōng's golden-hooped rod.
“Liù'ěr Míhóu.” Despite Tathāgata's gentle tone, the imposter flinched. “Why did you steal the identity of the Monkey of the Mind?”
Alright, Wùkōng did want to know that.
“Yes!”, he hissed. “Do tell! What did I do to you, that you decided 'Hey, I'm gonna make this monkey's day even more fucked than it already is'?! What's your damn problem?!”
(“Language!”, scolded the Buddha.)
At first there was no was no answer, which did nothing to quell the Monkey King's anger. Wùkōng was a hair's width from snapping, when finally …
“… You want to know what my problem is, yeah?” It was barely audible – just about loud enough for the Buddha, Guān Yīn and Wùkōng to hear.
Now the imposter finally looked up – eyes glowing and full of hatred.
“Why should you be the one to obtain everlasting fame?!”, she hissed. “As if you or your companions deserved it! Look at what a team you five are: a brat of a monk, a murder-happy stable boy, a pyromanic dragon, a womanising pig and a sand demon wearing human skulls for jewellery!”
Wùkōng bared his fangs and clutched his staff more tightly. “Don't you dare speak about us like that!”, he growled lowly.
The Macaque sneered: “Oh, I dare! You, a Buddha! Give me a break! You're just a tool for a foolish monk, who can only bitch and would rather abuse and insult his disciples, than listen to reason! Why should someone like you achieve enlightenment?! Why should you be worshipped, like some kind of hero?! Hah! Don't make me laugh! Your chipper façade doesn't fool me! I know everything about you, Sūn Wùkōng! From your so-called glorious deeds to your deepest, dirtiest secrets! I've heard it all!”
It was Tathāgata, who retorted: “Cease your venomous speech, Liù'ěr Míhóu. You do not have the moral high ground. You impersonated Wùkōng and tried to discredit him, sowed discord, harmed the Scripture Pilgrim, stole his luggage, cannibalised another monkey and went to a whole new level of deception, and all for what? For fame, worship and immortality. That group of five is going through many hardships to grow as people, redeem themselves and become worthy of taking my holy scriptures to the Eastern Lands. You attempted to hijack the pilgrimage to obtain a Buddhahood that isn't meant for you. Did you really think you could try to steal the fruits of somebody else's labour and deceive me?”
The Buddha's words gave the Monkey King a grim satisfaction, especially when the Six-Eared Macaque growled and gnashed her teeth.
“Oh? You mean by appointing an unreasonable wimp to be teacher to a murder-happy stone monkey, a pyromanic sea dragon, a good-for-nothing pig and a clumsy quicksand demon?”
“Shut. The fuck. up!”, Wùkōng growled and was about to swing his cudgel, but Guān Yīn tightened her grip on his shoulder, preventing him from lashing out.
Liù'ěr Míhóu however, ignored him and asked the Goddess of Mercy: “Did you know that he plays favourites with his dicsiples? That he listens to a lazy hedonist more than to the one person he's completely fucked without? That he abuses the band you gave him to torture his eldest disciple for the smallest offences, instead of hearing him out?”
“I do know.” Guān Yīn responded calmly. “Wùkōng has unburdened his heart to me, while he was under my roof. I will sort that out between them. As for you, it's time to face the consequences of your own actions-”
“Execution!”, the Monkey King threw in.
“No”, Tathāgata and Guān Yīn said flatly.
Dammit!
“You know my position towards killing”, said the Buddha, “Besides, you were very similar once.”
“I was not!”
Meanwhile Guān Yīn addressed the imposter: “You have two options. The first is that you work off your bad karma in Avici².”
The Macaque's bravado crumbled and she shivered in fear.
“The second option is that you join the other pilgrims and use your vast abilities and power to protect them and keep them safe.”
The Monkey King thought she was going to crumble and agree to anything. But to her credit, Liù'ěr Míhóu managed to maintain a shred of pride.
She narrowed her eyes at the Bodhisattva: “Why would I play bodyguard for a human with mantras for brains?! What would I get out of it, aside from not going to Hell?!”
Guān Yīn smiled: “Enlightenment cannot be reached through trickery, only through honest work and self-reflection. You rely on your ears to learn things, but not all things can be heard. By joining the pilgrimage as part of the group, you would come to reach a whole new level of comprehension and wisdom.”
Liù'ěr Míhóu gave Guān Yīn an unimpressed look. “Oh please! In comparison to me, the Jade Emperor is a dumbass!” She paused and added: “Though, to be fair, a lot of people are smarter than that old man.”

In the Eastern Heavens, the Jade Emperor suddenly had to sneeze.
“Is something wrong, Your Majesty?”, inquired one of the courtiers.
The Jade Emperor's eyes narrowed. “Someone is mocking me somewhere.”

The Goddess of Mercy had to wait for Wùkōng's guffaws to subside, ere she would finally explain to Liù'ěr Míhóu: “Knowledge and wisdom are two completely different things. Knowledgeable and clever as you are, there are many important things you don't know. You don't know the beauty of a genuine smile, the warmth of a kind embrace, the joy in shared laughter, the comfort of someone being there for you. All of this you can have. In addition to this, you would be redeemed from your past misdeeds.”
Liù'ěr Míhóu adopted a thoughtful expression, as she considered, what the Bodhisattva had just said. Her head swayed from side to side and her six ears fluttered, as she weighed her options (or looked for a way to agree without seeming desperate).
“… Fine”, it came teeth-gnashingly.
The Buddha smiled amiably. “Splendid!”
Are you fucking kidding me?!
Wùkōng's fury from earlier returned, banishing the short-lived amusement.

Tathāgata nodded: “Yes. It will be a perfect exercise in patience for you.”
“But-!”
“Be pacified, Sūn Wùkōng. One day you too will sit on a lotus throne.”
Wùkōng doubted that was worth all the pain and humiliation. Although … if he became a Buddha, then he could finally take off that blasted fillet on his head.
Be free of his servitude.
Go home.
Home to his children and grandchilren …
“How about this: I promise not to kill or severely hurt the Six-Eared Macaque. Is that good enough?”
The Buddha beamed and gave Wùkōng a pet on the head. “Yes, quite so! See, Pilgrim? Before your journey, you never would have made this kind of promise! I'm proud of you! Back to the matter at hand; you two will go back to Tripitaka in a bit. Guān Yīn will accompany you. One final thing though: Liù'ěr Míhóu, you need a new wardrobe. There is no way you'll make the journey in stolen clothes.”
He summoned a folded pile of clothes out of nowhere and gave it to them.
The Macaque squinted suspiciously, but snapped a finger and stood before them in a pale blue robe with a silvery girdle.
Welp. It was official now.
And since the Buddha and Guān Yīn had already decided, further protest was futile.
“So this is it, huh?”, Wùkōng sighed in resignation. “I'm stuck with this asshat for the rest of the journey.”
Tathāgata nodded: “Correct. And in time you'll find yourselves despising each other far less than now.”
“Doubt that”, grumbled the Monkey King
The Six-Eared Macaque remained suspiciously silent.
“Give it time”, Tathāgata told him. “What are a few years to you?”
Okay, that was true. However …
“How many years?”, he desired to know.
The Buddha considered. “Hmm … considering how far you have come, I would say about six years.”
“I HAVE TO PUT UP WITH HER FOR SIX YEARS???”
“Stop screaming!”, spat the Macaque and covered her ears.
Tathāgata sighed: “Sūn Wùkōng, please contain the cosmic hazard that is your uncontrollable rage.”

ANTICHRIST/CHRISTOPHOBIA
Many people who speak about Christianity speak in a way that makes me think that they really don't know what they're talking about. Not only do they not know what they're talking about regarding true Christianity and what a Christian is actually considered from Scripture but they're absolutely obstinate in their ideologies, opinions and speak from a place of hatred, fallacy and real ignorance. I've come to realize that those types have made up their mind about Christians and Christianity, about Christ Jesus as well and will debate without even considering logic nor common sense. I've realized you can give them all the non biblical evidence or whatever they're asking for and they'll willingly choose to reject it (even after you've given them the truth) because they've decided to change the goal posts they're using to measure their subjectivity against. The concept of somebody professing to be a Christian or professing to be anything other than what or who they truly are as a disguise to commit vile acts against people goes completely off their heads, I swear they either aren't able to comprehend that something like that is possible or they're just wasting time with their "intellectual" or "liberal" stances on it. Sometimes I read their posts and wonder do they even know what they're writing? Do they understand what they themselves are writing? Christianity has been used by evil people and is now a scapegoat to take the blame. The very people who left Christianity cannot seem to leave it alone as they still continue to talk about it and what they experienced, they're stuck, unable to move on, to let go. No, they hold on, and don't forgive because if they let go, they cannot justify their hatred towards Christians or Christianity. Then who else will they blame for not being able to move on when it's their decision not to. They mock Christians, and persecute them because they cannot acknowledge the truth, it disturbs them so much to the point of hysteria. Well, the Bible mentioned this would happen in the last days, I'm hardly surprised. They cannot sympathize with Christians nor empathize because in their pursuit of their hatred towards Christians their love has grown cold. The depth of darkness they're in, is a cave they're stuck in for lack of wanting to be helped out because they're in denial about the place they're in. They take offense and project their own misunderstanding of everything onto Christians when they're told to repent and seek God. We know that our fight is not against flesh and blood but they don't even recognize their true enemy. They hate Christians and Christianity because in their minds Christians are evil. Woe to them that take good for evil and evil for good.

Is Christ asking us to hate ourselves?

What is the goal of rebirth?
As a clinical psychologist, I will take a minute to explain the basic differences between our “true self” (that lies buried underneath all the cultural conditioning that we have undergone) and the “persona” or the mask that we wear to perform different tasks throughout our busy day. Carl Jung stressed that if there is no conscious assimilation of unconscious contents, then we will inevitably fail to integrate our lives and achieve wholeness. That’s because those who repress their feelings of guilt and shame, and lock them up inside a dark room within their unconscious, are essentially splitting off their personality into two compartments: the conscious and the unconscious mind. Jung warns that if people don’t get in touch with their unconscious life, but only identify with their persona, they’re bound to suffer psychological turmoil. In biblical terms, some people are so detached from themselves that they’re not even aware that they’re sinners (1 Jn 1:10).
From a scriptural perspective, we’re all sinners, with a propensity for evil. The ego that has been created throughout an individual’s history is part of what the Bible calls the “carnal”(sarkikos) or “fleshly” self (1 Cor. 3.1-3). This is the unregenerate self that is always self-seeking, self-serving, and self-absorbed. And it has all the evil inclinations that the Bible speaks of. This is not the “true self” which is created in the image of God (imago dei). This is the “false self” in the image of Adam, the first sinner. That’s precisely why we need a savior to liberate us from this “false self” system so that we can, once again, become like the pre-fall Adam. The only way to achieve this goal is through a conscious assimilation of unconscious contents, and then, in the process of reliving our past traumas and fears, we will be cured (Phil. 2:12). During this cathartic and therapeutic process, we ask Christ to forgive us and to take our load off our shoulders.
If you do that, an awesome miracle will occur and your whole life will change in an instant: “your grief will turn to joy” (Jn 16:30)! And you will experience moments of intense love: “a good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over” (Luke 6:38). You will also experience your “true self,” as if Christ himself had become your new identity (Gal. 2:20). And you will, for the first time, love yourself! You will also love others and fall madly in love with Christ. Your gratitude will become your prayer of thanksgiving. So, that’s the born-again experience in a nutshell!
Loving yourself doesn’t go against Christ’s teaching
Having laid the groundwork for understanding the two different types of self, I want to now explain which behaviors, thoughts, and emotions are healthy and appropriate to Christians, and which ones are unhealthy, inappropriate, and unchristian. The attitude of genuinely caring for oneself, accepting oneself (despite one’s shortcomings), and trusting oneself is essential not only for healthy psychological functioning but also for the Christian life. It is conducive to caring for others, accepting others, and trusting others. By contrast, hating oneself is obviously an abnormal state of affairs where one dislikes himself, sabotages himself, hurts himself, and, in some cases, even kills himself. As an illustration, the mass shootings in the US are cases in which the hate one has for one’s self is now extended to others. Bottom line, hating yourself is not a healthy attitude under any circumstances. It can also lead to various disorders (e.g. eating disorders and depression). This self-hate is often unconscious so that we don’t even realize that we dislike ourselves. Because it’s repressed in the unconscious, it’s often projected onto others, and we end up hating people without even knowing why. After all, if we don’t love ourselves at all, and we don’t even know what love is, how can we possibly attempt to love others, let alone God? How can we possibly love others if we hate ourselves? That’s precisely why self-hatred is not healthy at all, and should never be encouraged, whether in our psychological world or in our spiritual world. In fact, loving yourself (in the right way) is actually the goal of Christianity! Christianity is in the business of making lovers, not haters. A pianist practices his piano everyday. A guitarist practices his guitar everyday. A Christian ought to practice *love* everyday. Love is our goal and our most precious treasure in life. If we have love, we don’t need anything else.
1 John 4:8 writes:
He who does not love does not know God;
for God is love.
If it’s ok for God to love us, then why is it wrong for us to love ourselves? When God instructs us not to “love the world or the things in the world” (1 Jn 2:15), that’s a warning against loving our instinctual nature, that is, our desires, lusts, and passions, what Freud called the “id.” But loving the “carnal self” and loving the “genuine self” are two completely different things. We all need to be loved, to be cared for, to feel protected, and to feel worthy, rather than unworthy, unlovable, and unimportant. That’s precisely what God does during the regeneration process. He showers us with love and makes us feel special, worthy, important, and treats us like kings and queens. If you haven’t felt like that, you haven’t been reborn. Love is our currency, our lifeblood! 1 John 3:14 declares:
He who does not love abides in death.
1 John 4:16 summarizes Christian Theology thusly:
God is love, and he who abides in love
abides in God, and God abides in him.
Even the Old Testament urges us to “love the sojourner” (Deut. 10:19) and to “love the LORD your God” (Deut. 11:1). Romans 13:10 sums up love as the fulfillment of the law:
Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore
love is the fulfilling of the law.
Love is the greatest commandment (Matt. 22:36-40)! That’s precisely why “knowledge puffs up, but love builds up” (1 Cor. 8:1). Therefore, there’s a big difference between “selfish love” and “genuine love” (2 Cor. 6:6; 8:8). God only looks at our heart because that’s where love comes from. Galatians 5:14 commands people to “love your neighbor as yourself." But how can you love your neighbor if you hate yourself? Paul doesn’t say “hate your neighbor as yourself.” Rather, he explains that love is the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22):
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.
Thus, Paul urges us to cultivate love, to prune and water it daily so that it might grow. In Phil. 1:9, he writes:
it is my prayer that your love may abound
more and more, with knowledge and all
discernment.
Later, in Phil. 2:2, he exhorts his followers to stir up the gift that is in them:
complete my joy by being of the same mind,
having the same love.
In 1 Tim. 1:5, Paul reminds us that our mission is to awaken love from the bottom of our hearts:
the aim of our charge is love that
issues from a pure heart and a good
conscience and sincere faith.
Is Christ asking us to hate ourselves?
Many people misunderstand the Bible. When Christ uses hyperbole and says “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, … such a person cannot be my disciple” (Lk 14:26), he doesn’t mean that we should hate our parents. He means that we should love them less than Christ (which is the 1st commandment)! The same goes for the “self.” We must love ourselves less than Christ. And we must also seek to transform and transcend our “carnal self” that is selfish, greedy, lustful, angry, envious, etc. Jesus is not saying that it’s good to hate the inner you, or to hate who you truly are. In fact, loving yourself (i.e. forgiving yourself and accepting yourself) is a prerequisite condition for loving others. How can you possibly love others if you hate yourself? Luke 9:23 is teaching us how to prepare the soil of our heart for the harvest of love. Just as when we avoid consuming unhealthy foods, we should also avoid certain unhealthy or toxic behavioral patterns. Jesus is not teaching you to hate yourself or to be suicidal. He is not saying that loving yourself is a heresy. On the contrary, Jesus teaches that we should stop feeding the “false self” who loves the things of the world, namely, lust, money, sex, power, competition, greed, envy, etc. And although it may sound counterintuitive, we actually gain control over our addictions through genuine self-love (2 Tim. 1:7):
God did not give us a spirit of timidity but a
spirit of power and love and self-control.
In Luke 14:25-27, Jesus is not preaching hate. He’s not saying “Hate your neighbors as yourself.” Or “Hate your family and yourself.” No. It’s not a hate-speech. The point he is trying to make is that we must make Christ our first priority. He must take first place in our life. In other words, he must be our greatest love, and we must love him more than our family and friends, and even more than life itself. So what he’s actually saying is that he who loves me less than family and friends cannot be my disciple because he loves others more than me (idols). That’s the point. Jesus is not preaching hate.
In John 12:25, Jesus is saying the exact same thing. He who loves his self more than Christ will eventually lose it. Conversely, he who loves his life less than Christ will find it (i.e. he will find his “true self” and life-eternal). Jesus doesn’t imply that you should hate yourself, your family and children. Jesus is not psychotic.
In 2 Timothy 3:1-5, Paul uses the term φίλαυτος (philautos), which means “selfish” or “self-loving” (i.e. narcissistic), and then lists all the traits associated with this selfish love (vv. 2-4):
lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful,
arrogant, slanderers, disobedient to
parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving,
irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without
self-control, brutal, haters of good,
treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of
pleasure, rather than lovers of God.
Notice that all these characteristics refer to some character flaw that is based on selfish desires or pleasures. This is not the same as loving your “true-self” humbly and genuinely. Loving who you really are in Christ is actually necessary for spiritual growth. It is the purpose of our very existence and the goal of all our struggles. To be transformed into Christ means being transformed into love. In fact, during rebirth, a great love starts to flow within us, and we begin to love ourselves as we really are. We also fall madly in love with Jesus. So no one should be preaching hate. Christianity is all about love.
“Lovers of self” refers to those people for whom everything revolves around them, thereby showing a callous disregard for others. By contrast, loving yourself in a genuine, pure, and humble way, accepting and forgiving yourself for past mistakes, is actually a very healthy and godly endeavor. Loving who you really are is not the same as being selfish, nor does it mean that you love yourself more than God.
James 3:13-16 talks of jealousy and selfish ambition, not of forgiving and accepting *yourself* in Christ’s love. For example, James 3:14-15 uses the word ἐριθεία (eritheia), which means seeking rivalries, disputes, having ambition, etc. It could be construed as a form of self-seeking but it is not, strictly speaking, talking about the self. It is this type of quarreling that is demonic, not a genuine love for yourself. In other words, whenever these feuds arise, there is anarchy and evil. James 3:14-15 writes:
if you have bitter jealousy and selfish
ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant
and so lie against the truth. This wisdom is
not that which comes down from above, but
is earthly, natural, demonic.
Conversely, loving yourself in a genuine way is not demonic, but actually the goal of Christianity!
Conclusion
Love is our goal, our aim, and our modus operandi! Instead of practicing the commandments, which are just rigid behavioral patterns, we should be cultivating love in our hearts. Paul writes in 1 Cor. 13:1-5:
If I speak in the tongues of men and of
angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong
or a clanging cymbal. And if I have
prophetic powers, and understand all
mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have
all faith, so as to remove mountains, but
have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all
I have, and if I deliver my body to be burned,
but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is
patient and kind; love is not jealous or
boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love
does not insist on its own way; it is not
irritable or resentful.
Elsewhere, he says (1 Cor. 13:13):
So faith, hope, love abide, these three; but
the greatest of these is love.
1 Cor. 14:1 doesn’t say “make hate your aim.” Rather, it says “Make love your aim.” In Col. 3:14, Paul equates our new identity with love, and urges us to fully immerse ourselves in it:
And above all these put on love, which
binds everything together in perfect
harmony.
We are to seek love in every situation, at every moment! Loving ourselves is the prerequisite for loving others. Love is our goal, not our enemy. The goal is to love ourselves in Christ. Meaning that when we receive Christ’s new identity, we begin to love ourselves for the very first time, and we also stop hating ourselves for the very first time. Christ’s love is genuine and pure. It’s part of the fruit of the spirit. This love we must pursue. This is who we are in the image of God. For how can we possibly love others if we hate ourselves?

"Puke and Vomit." Conclusion to Surah 15, Al Hijr, "The Jaguar."'

There are too many organizations and persons masquerading as believers. These followers of a false faith are wreaking havoc in every nation on this planet, and the real parasites, the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are reaping the benefits.
The Quran says there are signs of true believers, the most important one is full knowledge of the Quran itself. Without the study of the Quran the other Pillars have no substance. Read now about another reason why Allah told Muhammad every human being must know the entirety of the Quran and abandon the counsel of those who fail:
15: 88-99:
Do not let your eyes crave the ˹fleeting˺ pleasures We have provided for some of the disbelievers, nor grieve for them. And be gracious to the believers.
And say, “I am truly sent with a clear warning”—
˹a warning˺ similar to what We sent to those who divided ˹the Scriptures˺, who ˹now˺ accept parts of the Quran, rejecting others.
So by your Lord! We will certainly question them all about what they used to do.
So proclaim what you have been commanded, and turn away from the polytheists. Surely We will be sufficient for you against the mockers, who set up ˹other˺ gods with Allah. They will soon come to know.
So glorify the praises of your Lord and be one of those who ˹always˺ pray, and worship your Lord until the inevitable1 comes your way.
Commentary:
The Quran argues there are no other gods but the one called Allah, "He who can be measured." We cannot see or hear God but we know He is there. This intuition we have about Him should equate to great respect and obedience for the scriptures He has provided to us. Where there is no respect for God there is no proof He exists. As we know negation of the existence of God through disrespect of His laws is proving to be disastrous for mankind.
This is stated in the Hebrew Gematria for verse 98. The Number is 16306. י״וג‎אֶפֶסו‎, "yog one zero, and Ephesus."

Some have suggested that the name Ephesus may have had something to do with the Latin word apis, meaning bee, but although the bee was a dominant symbol of Ephesus and appeared on many of its coins, this etymology is commonly rejected.
More attractive, and now generally accepted among scholars, is the hypothesis that the name Ephesus formed from the Hittite name Apasa, which belonged to the capital of an ancient federation called Arzawa, located in western Anatolia.
In his Hittite Etymological Dictionary Jaan Puhvel explains the Hittite element appa to mean '"behind, back" in a spatial, but uniformly "after" in a temporal sense', and relates it to common words in Sanskrit (apatyam, meaning offspring; apara, meaning later) and the Greek (επι, epi, meaning on or upon; οπις, opis, meaning looking back).

Probably a by-form of the previous, the verb עוץ ('us) means to counsel or regard with deep inner contemplation.
As the final verse says it is inevitable man must accept there is a proper way to substantiate the Presence of God. The Value in Gematria for the final verse is 11175, י'‎א'‎קעה, y'a'kea, "I will puke vomit."
The Quran forbids intentional vomiting. To claim one sees or talks to a god that is not actually there is vomiting speech that is forbidden. One can only meditate upon the Presence of the Absolute God, the one supreme being, otherwise one is just puking vomit.
If one wishes to eat, learn how to keep one's food down on purpose and survive this world, one should be sure to study the Book.

Thought for the Day
Bad character traits can become so deeply engrained that it is impossible to correct them even by drastic measures, outside of divine intervention. As we have previously seen, the Biblical definition of a fool is one who is rebellious. Many evil people in jail are incorrigible; they have life-long habits of wickedness embedded throughout their entire personalities. These people have developed criminal natures and their minds are set on evil. Though penal institutions try to rehabilitate them with various programs, most of them return to crime because it is a part of them. Jeremiah 13:23 speaks about the impossibility of those who habitually do evil to turn from it: "Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil."
What is impossible for man, however, is not impossible for God; He can change anyone, no matter how wicked! Some of the most hardened criminals have been changed by the Holy Spirit's power. The Bible relates stories of wicked men, even murderers, adulterers and liars, who were changed by God's grace when they surrendered their lives to Him. Saul of Tarsus persecuted and threatened murder against Christians, thinking that he was doing God's will. On his way to arrest more Christians, Jesus Christ supernaturally encountered him and changed his life. God removed the scales from his spiritual eyes, and then he could see the evil he had done (Acts 9:1-22). After his miraculous conversion, he spent the rest of his life in the service of Jesus Christ and wrote a good deal of the New Testament. All of us were sinners until we came to Christ and allowed Him to deliver and cleanse us (Titus 3:3-7).
Throughout history, people have killed Christians, just as Jesus prophesied. More Christians have died for their faith in the 20th century than in all the previous centuries combined. Some religious zealots think that killing Christians is the will of God, even as Saul did before he became Paul. John 16:2-3 says, "They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the father, nor me." These people need to understand that their religion cannot give them eternal life since it is found only in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We must pray that they see the true light of God and experience Christ's saving power. "Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake...But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come" (Matthew 24:9, 13-14).
Prayer Devotional for the Day
Dear heavenly Father, I am humbled that You would use me as an instrument of Your love in this earth. I stand in awe at the amazing plans You have for everyone of us who will come to You, and allow You to live Your life through us. I am so happy to be a part of Your family. Lord, I ask that You deliver me from all pride and fear, and especially the fear of man. May I always be more concerned what You think about me, than what men may think of me. I ask this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

FOCUS AND LITURGY OF THE WORD
As I sit here on my couch writing this reflection, my mind keeps coming back to a couple of questions:  Which one am I?  Am I a wicked one who sits on his couch, scheming how to get ahead at someone else’s expense (as in Micah); and then boasts proudly as he “glories in” accumulated riches (as in today’s Psalm)?   Or am I a gentle, Spirit-following soul who seeks to bring justice to all?  The reality lies somewhere in the middle of those two extremes, even though I hope like it is more to the justice-seeking side. 
If the choice is between (a) cheating, stealing, murder and blasphemy (evil traits described in Micah and the Psalm) or (b) caring, loving, and bringing justice, most of us would emphatically declare “B”!  However, we rarely find ourselves called to decide between such extreme options.  Instead, we find ourselves confronted with a series of smaller choices each day, and we may not recognize how our choices direct our paths.  Too often time is spent on the couch, binge-watching a show, considering potential vacation destinations, or thinking about home enhancements or a new car, when it should be spent off the couch actively seeking to do God’s will.
Christians are called, as I John 2:6 reminds us, to live as Christ lived.   I marvel at those individuals who emulate Christ as they interact lovingly and compassionately with co-workers, grocery store clerks, restaurant workers, crotchety neighbors, difficult family members – in short, with everyone in just about every situation.  Their actions appear effortless and natural, and perhaps it seems so because I know how effortful and unnatural those actions seem when I try them.  A useful parallel can be found in music.  When a great pianist plays a beautiful piece, the music almost flows from their fingers.  My musician friends tell me how much they dislike it when someone attempts to compliment them by saying “I wish I could play like you” because they are tempted to respond: “No, you don’t, or you would work really hard to do so.”  The less informed may think that the beautiful music is just because of talent, a gift from God; but the musicians know that, in addition to talent, many, many, many hours were spent practicing scales, eliminating wrong notes, and developing intimacy with their instrument so that playing becomes second nature.  Even then, they keep practicing so that their artistry continues to seem effortless.
If I really mean it when I claim that “I wish I could live a Christlike life” like the people at whom I marvel, then I need to put in the necessary work so that it becomes second nature.  I must practice showing love, extending forgiveness, and seeking justice on a regular basis.  Fortunately, God provides ample opportunities to practice each day with multiple small situations that allow me to work on the basics (practice the scales, if you will) and to eliminate the mistakes (and there will be mistakes).  My planning time on the couch (to revisit the Micah metaphor) should be focused on developing intimacy with the Holy Spirit who will work with me and through me to bring justice.  As I demonstrate trustworthiness in a few small things, Matthew 25:21 indicates that I will be trusted with more and bigger chances.  Even more exciting, many of the small things – that is to say, things that seemed small to you – will turn out to be really big things for someone else.

Saint Apollinaris’ Story
According to tradition, Saint Peter sent Apollinaris to Ravenna, Italy, as its first bishop. His preaching of the Good News was so successful that the pagans there beat him and drove him from the city. He returned, however, and was exiled a second time. After preaching in the area surrounding Ravenna, he entered the city again. After being cruelly tortured, he was put on a ship heading to Greece. Pagans there caused him to be expelled to Italy, where he went to Ravenna for a fourth time. He died from wounds received during a savage beating at Classis, a suburb of Ravenna. A beautiful basilica honoring him was built there in the sixth century.
Reflection

Following Jesus involves risks—sometimes the supreme risk of life itself. Martyrs are people who would rather accept the risk of death than deny the cornerstone of their whole life: faith in Jesus Christ. Everyone will die eventually—the persecutors and those persecuted. The question is what kind of a conscience people will bring before the Lord for judgment. Remembering the witness of past and present martyrs can help us make the often small sacrifices that following Jesus today may require.

Today’s reading of the Scriptures from the New Testament is the 10th chapter of the letter of 2nd Corinthians:
I, Paul, appeal to you in the same gentle and loving spirit of the Anointed—yes, I who am humble when I’m face-to-face with you but audacious to you in these letters when I’m away (I know what they say). If it were up to me, I’d rather not have to be so bold when I’m with you, especially with the kind of forceful confidence I can work up when I confront those who have accused us of walking in a worldly way. For though we walk in the world, we do not fight according to this world’s rules of warfare. The weapons of the war we’re fighting are not of this world but are powered by God and effective at tearing down the strongholds erected against His truth. We are demolishing arguments and ideas, every high-and-mighty philosophy that pits itself against the knowledge of the one true God. We are taking prisoners of every thought, every emotion, and subduing them into obedience to the Anointed One. As soon as you choose obedience, we stand ready to punish every act of disobedience.
Look at what is going on right in front of you. If anyone is convinced that he belongs to the Anointed, then he should think again; even if he belongs to Him, so do we. I’m not embarrassed, even if it seems to others I have gone overboard in speaking about the power the Lord has given us to edify and encourage you and not to destroy anyone who strays. I don’t want it to seem as if I’m simply trying to scare you with my letters; they are not hollow. For some people are saying, “Paul’s letters sound authoritative and strong, but in person he just doesn’t measure up—even his speeches don’t deliver.” They need to understand this: whatever we say through our letters when we are away, that is exactly what we will do when we are looking you in the eye.
For we would never dare to compare ourselves with people who have based their worth on self-commendation. They check themselves against and compare themselves with one another. It just shows that they don’t have any sense! So we will carefully limit our boasting to the extent only of what God has done in and through us, a reach that extends as far as you. For it wasn’t as if we were overreaching into someone else’s territory by reaching out to you. Weren’t we the first ones to bring you the good news of the Anointed One? We carefully put limits on our boasting and avoid taking credit for what others do. But we do hope to see your faith grow so that we can watch our mission really expand all the way to the limits God has set for us. The plan includes taking the good news to people and lands beyond you. We’ve no interest in or intention of staking claim to other people’s accomplishments in their arenas. As the Scripture says, “The one who boasts must boast in the Lord.” Now let’s be clear: it’s not the one who commends himself who is approved; it’s the one whom the Lord commends.
The Letter of 2nd Corinthians, Chapter 10 (The Voice)
Today’s paired reading from the First Testament is the 13th chapter of the book of Leviticus:
The Eternal One spoke to Moses and Aaron.
Eternal One: Any time a person has an area of swelling or a rash or a white patch of skin, it may be the sign of a serious skin disease; so he must be taken to one of the priests—Aaron or one of Aaron’s sons. The priest must examine the spot on the skin. If the hair on it has turned white, and the affected area appears to go deep beneath the skin, then it is a serious skin disease. After the examination, he will then pronounce the diseased person unclean. But if the patch on the skin is white and does not appear to go deep beneath the skin, and the hair on it has not turned white, then the priest will quarantine the person for seven days. When the seventh day arrives, the priest will examine the affected area again; and if the priest thinks it has not grown worse and has not spread to other parts of the skin, then the priest will continue the quarantine for another seven days. At the end of the second seven days, the priest will examine the person again; and if the affected area has faded and has not spread to any other part of the body, then the priest will pronounce that he is clean and suffers only some minor skin problem. The person is to wash his garments and must be considered clean again.
But if the rash spreads to other parts of the skin after the priest examines the person and pronounces him clean, then he must go back to the priest to be examined again. The priest will check the person again; and if the rash has grown worse and spread, then the priest must pronounce the person unclean. He does, in fact, have a serious skin disease.
When a person contracts any serious skin disease, he must be taken to the priest. The priest will check the skin; and if the priest finds an area of white swelling on the skin where the hair has turned white, and if there is a raw, open sore, then the person has a chronic skin disease and the priest must pronounce him unclean. The priest does not have to quarantine the person because it is evident that he is already unclean. If the disease gets worse, spreads across his body, and involves all of his skin from head to toe—as far as the priest can tell— then the priest will check; and if the disease has covered the person’s entire body, then the priest will pronounce the infected man clean because the disease has turned his entire body white. But if a raw, open sore shows up, then he must be declared unclean. The priest will examine the raw skin and pronounce the man unclean because the raw skin is unclean. It is definitely a serious skin disease. If the raw skin changes again and becomes white, then the infected person must go see the priest to be examined. If the affected area has turned white, then the priest will pronounce the diseased person clean; for he is in fact clean.
If a boil shows up on someone’s skin, and the boil goes away and is replaced by a swollen white or a reddish-white spot, then he must point this out to the priest. The priest will check; and if the affected area appears to go deep beneath the skin and the hairs on it have turned white, then the priest will pronounce the person unclean. It is a case of serious skin disease that started out as a boil. But if the priest examines the person and finds there are no white hairs on it and the condition does not appear to go deep beneath the skin, and is, in fact, improving, then the priest will quarantine the infected person for seven days. If the condition spreads to new places on the skin, the priest will pronounce him unclean; it is a serious infection. However, if the affected area does not get worse or spread to new parts of the skin, it is simply a scar from the boil, and the priest will pronounce him clean.
If a person suffers a burn in a fire, and the raw skin from the burn turns shiny white, reddish-white, or white, the priest will examine the affected area. If the hair on it is white and the sore appears to go deep beneath the skin, then the person has a serious skin disease that started out from the burn; the priest will declare him unclean. If the priest examines the affected area and finds no white hair on it, and the condition does not go deep beneath the skin but instead seems to be improving, then the priest will quarantine him for seven days. When the seventh day arrives, the priest will examine him once again. If the condition appears to be spreading, the priest will declare him unclean; the person has a serious skin disease. If the affected area does not get worse and spread to new parts of the skin, but seems to be improving, then it is simply swollen from the burn. The priest will pronounce him clean because it is simply a scar from the burn.
If a man or a woman has a spot on the head or chin, the priest must examine it, and if it appears to go deep beneath the skin and has thin, yellowish hairs in it, then the priest must pronounce the infected person to be unclean; it is a scaly skin disease on the head or chin. If the priest examines the scaly area and it does not appear to go deep beneath the surface of the skin and there are no dark hairs in it, then the priest will quarantine the infected person for seven days. When the seventh day arrives, the priest will examine the area again. If the scaly area has not gotten worse and there are no yellowish hairs in it, and the scale does not appear to go deep beneath the surface of the skin, then the infected person should shave the head or beard except where hair is growing in the affected area. The priest will then quarantine the infected person for another seven days. When the seventh days arrives, the priest will examine the scale again; and if it has not gotten worse and does not appear to go deep beneath the skin, the priest will pronounce the person clean. He will wash his clothes and be considered clean again. But if the scale gets worse and shows up on new parts of the skin anytime after the priest declares him clean, the priest must examine the person again. If the condition has spread to new parts of the skin, the priest is not required to look for yellowish hair because it is evident the person is unclean. However, if he inspects the person and the scaly skin has not gotten worse and dark hairs are growing on it, then the condition is healed and the person is once again clean. The priest will declare the person clean.
If a man or a woman discovers bright shiny spots on the skin, including bright white ones, the priest must check them out. And if he determines that the bright spots on the skin are pale, this is only a minor skin rash; the person is clean.
If a man loses his hair and goes bald, he is clean. If he loses it on his forehead but not on the sides, he is only partially bald on the forehead; he is still clean. However, if a reddish-white spot shows up on his bald head or forehead, then a serious skin infection is developing. The priest must examine him; and if the affected area is reddish-white on his bald head or forehead and looks similar to a reddish-white outbreak on the body, then that means the man has a serious skin disease and is unclean. The priest has to pronounce him unclean because of the skin disease on his head.
Anyone with a serious skin disease must wear torn clothing, not comb his hair, and cover his face beneath the nose. He must call out, “Unclean! Unclean!” As long as the disease persists, he will be unclean. He must live alone, outside the camp, away from the rest of the community.
Now if it ever looks as if an article of clothing has some outbreak like leprosy—whether it is made of wool, linen, or leather— and if the affected area in any leather or woven material has turned a greenish or reddish color, it is a sign of a serious problem and should be taken to the priest. The priest must examine the article and quarantine it for seven days. When the seventh day arrives, the priest must check it again; and if the affected area has spread to other parts of the article—whether in the wool, linen, or leather, regardless of what the leather was used for—the article has a serious outbreak which makes it unclean. So the priest has to burn the garment—whether it is made of wool, linen or leather—because it has some serious outbreak like leprosy and must be destroyed by fire.
But if the priest examines the article, and the affected area has not spread in either the woven or knitted material, or the leather, the priest must direct the article be washed, and then quarantined for another seven days. After it has been washed, the priest must check it again; and if the affected area looks the same, then the article is still unclean even though the outbreak has not spread. Therefore, you must burn it in the fire; it doesn’t matter whether the affected area is on the front or the back.
But if the priest examines it, and the affected area has faded after it has been washed, the priest must rip the affected material out of the garment, leather, or woven or knitted material. If another spot shows up in the article again—either in the woven or knitted material, or the leather—then the outbreak is spreading, and the article must be burned in the fire. But if the spot is gone once the article has been washed—whether it is woven or knitted or leather—you must wash it; then it will be considered clean.
So this is God’s instruction for how to deal with linen, woolen, or leather garments that have suspicious-looking spots on them. With these instructions, priests are able to determine whether they are clean or unclean.
The Book of Leviticus, Chapter 13 (The Voice)

Humans suffer from many different kinds of skin disorders. Although one of the most dreaded diseases known to antiquity was leprosy, it is most likely that few Israelites in Moses’ day suffered from the disease we know as leprosy. The Hebrew word that appears in this chapter covers many disfiguring and debilitating skin diseases that certainly can be infectious. The priests are given the challenge of making critical observations as to what is indeed infectious and what is not. The term applied not only to a variety of skin diseases, but it was also used to describe articles of clothing or buildings marred from leprouslike outbreaks.
By the time of the New Testament, leprosy is present in Israel. It is caused by a bacterium that can begin as a blemish on the skin; but when it runs its course, the skin is left discolored. There are unsightly lumps and scaling, and eventually the nerves are paralyzed so that there is no feeling of pain. Without the pain sensation people eventually wear down their fingers and toes into mere nubs. The revelation of God in Yeshua means that Ultimate Reality -- that is, the transcendental source of all that exists -- is intensely personal, intimately knowable, and full of love. "Metaphysics" (i.e., that which is "really real") is therefore not about an impersonal force known in objective relationship (i.e., a "what") but a personal agency and creative mind known in subjective relationship (i.e., a "who"). The Scriptures teach that what is ultimately real (אהיה אשׁר אהיה) is the Ultimate Person of the LORD (אני יהוה). In Him we "live and move and have our being" (Acts 17:28).
The LORD who is the Most High, the possessor of heaven and earth, is not just the Creator and Sustainer of all possible worlds, but the Lover and Redeemer of our very souls -- the One who empties himself to become "with us" and who overcomes the sickness of death for us... The climactic expression of the character of Ultimate Reality is revealed at Golgotha, the "place of the skull," where God's sacrificial life in Yeshua destroyed death by the greater power of divine love (Psalm 85:10). The heart of our Lord as he suffered and died for our sins reveals the great compassion of God; it is "ha'makom" (הַמָּקוֹם) the place of his atonement for us; his hidden dark cloud, and his resurrection glory reveals our deliverance for death. God loves us despite knowing all of our sins and yet redeems us from its curse...
We "connect" with the truth of who God is by the instrumentality of faith, and the essential question is whether we are in a "trusting relationship" with God or not, for if we do not truly know God as our loving Savior, we remain lost, in darkness, and alienated from the life of God. Faith is self-authenticating as we experience grace in the exercise of our trust in God.
Practically speaking, our relationship with God "shows up" in our lives by means of the various choices we make, though particularly in our moral choices. That's because righteousness is "ontological," or grounded in what is real. Since God is righteous, doing acts of righteousness enables us to partake in God's life and passion (1 John 2:29). On the other hand the practice of sin deadens us and turns us away from God’s Presence...
Love is essentially relational, and therefore the Scriptures reveal God as being in relationship both with others within creation, but also within himself - the One God is unity in plurality of relationship: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (John 17:24). The "I AM" of God (Being) is also known in the "Thou Art" of God (Doing). God is not only the Eternal Lover but also the Eternal Beloved, and the bond of that love is the Spirit of God "hovering above the depths." "Draw near to me, hear this: from the beginning I have not spoken in secret, from the time anything came to be there I AM, and now the Lord GOD has sent me, and his Spirit" (Isa. 48:16). Note in this verse the transpersonal unity of the Godhead....
Now while the Torah certainly affirms that "God is one" (יהוה אחד), note that the word "one" (i.e., echad: אֶחָד) means something more than merely numerical identity (i.e., yechidut: יְחִידוּת) but instead unity in plurality, a "transcendental oneness" that points to the unfathomable mystery of the Name YHVH (יהוה) and the ineffable Godhead (אֵין סוֹף). Moreover, echad primarily means “first” in order or preeminence, for example when the Torah describes the “first day” of creation not as “yom ha’rishon” (יום ��אשון), but as “yom echad” (יוֹם אחד; Gen. 1:5). That is why the Shema is not an affirmation of the “mystical pantheistic unity of all things” but rather that the LORD our God is preeminent and alone worthy of our worship and trust. “Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God is one LORD (i.e., unity of the godhead) the LORD alone (i.e., God is first, primary, central, and our greatest good). “God is love” means that he is the Lover, the Beloved, and the Communion of true love.
The doctrine of the tripartite-yet-one divine nature (השילוש הקדוש) is not known apart from the revelation of Yeshua, and it is an essential part of His message of redemption to us (see John 17:3). In other words, if you believe that Yeshua embodies and reveals the "Who" of Ultimate Reality, then you will accept his teaching that God is expressed in relationship - the Son in relation to the Father and to the Holy Spirit, and that these three are "echad," or one... “The Father has borne witness of me; whoever has seen me has seen the Father” (John 5:37; 14:9); “I and the Father are one”; “before Abraham was, I am...” “who is the liar but he who denies that Yeshua is the Messiah? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son” (1 John 2:22). Believers in the Lord are commissioned to go and make students or learners (תלמידים) of all the nations, baptizing them (i.e., identifying them) in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit” (Matt. 28:19).

HAVING A FALSE HOPE 1
8 “THAT evening he told the foreman to call the workers in and pay them, beginning with the last workers first. 9 When those hired at five o’clock were paid, EACH RECEIVED A FULL DAY'S WAGE. 10 When those hired first came to get their pay, THEY ASSUMED THEY WOULD RECEIVE MORE. But they, too, were paid a day’s wage. 11 When they received their pay, they protested to the owner, 12 ‘Those people worked only one hour, and yet you’ve paid them just as much as you paid us who worked all day in the scorching heat.’ 13 “He answered one of them, ‘Friend, I haven’t been unfair! Didn’t you agree to work all day for the usual wage? 14 Take your money and go. I wanted to pay this last worker the same as you. 15 Is it against the law for me to do what I want with my money? Should you be jealous because I am kind to others?’ 16 “SO THOSE WHO ARE LAST NOW WILL BE FIRST THEN, AND THOSE WHO ARE FIRST WILL BE LAST.” Matthew 20:8-16 (NLT)

The owner of the vineyard paid the same wages to every worker, even those hired in the evening.
Everyone was paid a day wage. The wage being spoken about symbolizes the salvation of individual's soul which is received through faith in the substitutionary death and resurrection of Christ Jesus.
Whoever comes to God through Christ Jesus would be given the same measure of saving faith: "FOR I say to everyone being among you through the grace having been given to me not to be thinking-highly of yourself beyond what you ought-to think, but to be thinking so as to be sound-minded, AS GOD APPORTIONED TO EACH A MEASURE OF FAITH" (Romans 12:3 Disciples’ Literal New Testament).
The Salvation of the Believer-A cannot be bigger or higher or purer than that of the Believer-B. The same measure of faith is given out to every Believer, whoever comes to the saving knowledge of Christ Jesus.
Whoever called on God would be saved, irrespective of the foundation; the race or colour, of the person: 11 FOR THE SCRIPTURE SAYS, “WHOEVER BELIEVES ON HIM WILL NOT BE PUT TO SHAME.” 12 FOR THERE IS NO DISTINCTION BETWEEN JEW AND GREEK, FOR THE SAME LORD OVER ALL IS RICH TO ALL WHO CALL UPON HIM. 13 For “WHOEVER CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED" (Romans 10:11-13 NKJV).
God is not partial, He is a just rewarder who does as He Wills: 6 WHO “WILL RENDER TO EACH ONE ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS”: 7 ETERNAL LIFE to those who by PATIENT CONTINUANCE in doing GOOD seek for GLORY, HONOUR, and IMMORTALITY; 8 but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—INDIGNATION AND WRATH, 9 TRIBULATION and ANGUISH, ON EVERY SOUL OF MAN WHO DOES EVIL, OF THE JEW FIRST AND ALSO OF THE GREEK; 10 BUT GLORY, HONOUR, AND PEACE TO EVERYONE WHO WORKS WHAT IS GOOD, TO THE JEW FIRST AND ALSO TO THE GREEK. 11 FOR THERE IS NO PARTIALITY WITH GOD" (Romans 2:6-11 NKJV).
The Jews, the pharisees, thought they would be treated differently, because they were the biological children of Abraham; thus, a special treatment would be accorded them in God's Kingdom. But that could be far from the truth: 28 FOR YOU ARE NOT A TRUE JEW JUST BECAUSE YOU WERE BORN OF JEWISH PARENTS or BECAUSE YOU HAVE GONE THROUGH THE CEREMONY OF CIRCUMCISION. 29 NO, A TRUE JEW IS ONE WHOSE HEART IS RIGHT WITH GOD. AND TRUE CIRCUMCISION is NOT MERELY obeying the LETTER of the LAW; rather, IT IS A CHANGE OF HEART PRODUCED BY THE SPIRIT. AND A PERSON with A CHANGED HEART SEEKS PRAISE from GOD, NOT FROM PEOPLE" (Romans 2:28,29 NLT).
Jesus said, the first would be the last and the last would be the first. Being a biological Jew has nothing to do with the placements in God's Kingdom (Matthew 20:16).
God will not violate His Principles. He had set up the standard, which would not be changed.
Whoever wants to come to God would have to do it through the genuine salvation. And that is, faith in the substitutionary death and resurrection of Jesus Christ—being born-again (John 3:3; Romans 10:9,10).
God cannot be accessed without Christ Jesus (John 14:6). When you denied or rejected Christ Jesus, you had equally denied and rejected God the Father: "WHOEVER DENIES THE SON DOES NOT HAVE THE FATHER EITHER; HE WHO ACKNOWLEDGES THE SON HAS THE FATHER ALSO" (1 John 2:23 NKJV).
You will not fail in Jesus' name.
Whatever ailment in your body, working against your health, such is rebuked and uprooted totally in Jesus'.
The healing, victory, and success God has given to you will be permanent in Jesus' name. Peace!
Take notice of this: IF you are yet to take the step of salvation, that is, yet to be born-again, do it now, tomorrow might be too late (2 Corinthians 6:1,2; Hebrews 3:7,8,15). a. Acknowledge that you are a sinner and confess your Sins (1 John 1:9); And ask Jesus Christ to come into your life (Revelation 3:20). b. Confess that you believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord, and that you confess it with your mouth, Thus, you accept Him As your Lord and Saviour (Romans 10:9,10). c. Ask that He will write your name in the Book of Life (Philippians 4:3; Revelation 3:8).
If you took the steps As highlighted above, It means you are saved—born-again. Join a Word based church in your area and Town or city, and be part of whatever they are doing there. Peace!
