a/n: part 5 of my lockwood x reader enemies to lovers!!! i did not expect it to get to this many parts, but you all seem to love it, so i will not disappoint! thank you @superpositvecloudshipper for giving me inspiration for an idea :) this one is a little less violent in terms of cases than the other parts and focuses more on emotions - ngl it got me in my feels
warnings: minor descriptions of death, lots of emotions, very minor injury gn reader
full series collection: here
You should turn the case down. You should turn to Lockwood right now and tell him no, refuse to go and just let him, Lucy, and George go themselves, but you can't open your mouth. It feels like your body has been locked into place, unable to move as you listen to the woman in front of you explain what's going on in her house.
"My nieces were visiting the other day," Miss Loren, a frail woman despite only being in her thirties, says, "and, while they were playing out in the back garden, they started screaming. When I managed to get them inside and calm them down, they told me they saw a ghost - a young girl, not much younger than you. She didn't make any move to hurt them, nor has she tried to since, but even I can sense her. The whole house... smells like evil, if you know what I mean. She's lurking, and I'm worried she'll harm the girls."
Lockwood nods, offering her a reassuring smile. "Of course. If you're happy with it, we'll come round tonight to scout out the house and get rid of her. Do you have somewhere to stay tonight?"
Miss Loren nods, brushing her hands over her jeans. "Yes, I haven't been in my house for a few days. Here's the key."
She reaches into her pocket, pulls out a silver key and passes it to Lockwood. With trembling hands, she takes a sip of her tea. George is watching her closely, not because he's concerned but because of one of the few rules in the house: no one can eat the cake or biscuits until the client has, and Miss Loren hasn't touched the plate of assorted biscuits.
"I best be off," she says. "If you could give me a call in the morning, I will come meet you back here and organise payment."
Standing, Lockwood smiles a little brighter. "Thank you. I'll show you out."
The two disappear from the living room, and it feels like a thick blanket has been removed from your head. You can breathe a little easier.
Lockwood returns a moment later. "So! We've got a case."
"I'll head to the Archives," George says, shutting his notebook with details from the meeting. "I'll be back for four. That gives us enough time to get there, right?"
"Should do." Lockwood glances at his watch. "I'll head to Satchel's, pick up some bits and bobs. (name), Luce, do you guys mind oiling the chains and packing the bags ready?"
Lucy nods, but it takes a minute for the words to register. Slowly, you nod, too.
"You okay, (name)?" Lockwood asks, frowning.
"I'm good," you say. "Sorry, I'm a bit out of it. I've not had any tea today."
He doesn't seem overly convinced, but with one more concerned glance at you, he grabs his coat, throws it on, and slips out the front door. George leaves shortly after.
In the basement, Lucy plays music from an old stereo as you both sit on the ground, cleaning and oiling all of the chains you own, picking and choosing which you think will be best for the case. It's boring work, but you don't seem to mind it today. It helps keep your mind moving.
"You know, you don't have to come on the case if you're not comfortable with it, right?"
You look up at Lucy and frown. "What?"
She shrugs. "Your reaction back there. Something's up. You don't have to tell me, but you don't need to come along. I'm sure we can manage it by ourselves."
"No, it's fine," you say. "I, uh, I have a feeling I'll be helpful with this one."
She looks confused, but she doesn't push the topic any further which you appreciate.
You've only been with Lockwood and Co for a few weeks now, since agreeing to join their team, but already you're starting to bond with Lucy. She was hired shortly after your fallout with Lockwood, which feels like years ago, so you never really harboured a grudge against her. It made it easier to become friends with her, and also makes sharing a room a little less awkward. In fact, you've spent a few late nights together talking about your lives, your interests; just anything that came to mind.
So you're grateful that she's learned when to lay off a topic that makes you uncomfortable.
There's comfort just sitting with her, cleaning the chains as music blares so loudly that you've probably damaged your eardrums. It's different from what Lockwood makes you feel, a soft candle offering up comfort in a dark night whereas he's a raging fire, brightening up the room and giving you warmth. Two very different feelings for two very different reasons.
And, so you go, cleaning the chains, dreading the case to come.
--
"This shouldn't be too hard," Lockwood says. "George?"
George stares up at the quaint house before rubbing his glasses on his jumper. "Shouldn't be. If it's a Type Two, it's very weak, but I'd say it's a Type One. If what I found is right, a girl died here a few years ago - she was maybe about thirteen. Fell out of the tree in the back garden and broke her neck. She died upon impact, seemingly."
Lucy frowns. "The source could be anything, and could be anywhere."
"Not anywhere," you murmur.
Without thinking, you approach the fence at the side of the house, reaching over to the lock on the gate and pulling it free.
"(name), what are you doing?" Lockwood asks. "We need to scout out the -"
You push the gate open, striding into the back garden. Miss Loren has no kids of her own, but her nieces visit regularly, so there's a slide there, along with a climbing frame and swing set. Toy cars are strewn over the ground, but none of that is what you're interested in.
Lockwood catches up to you momentarily. "What are you doing?"
"Saving you getting all of our things out of our bags."
The tree in the back corner looms over you, casting a large shadow in the light of the sunset. A rope swing hangs from one of the branches, so old that it has cinched the shape of the branch, and a sad smile grows on your lips. And, there...
Carved into the bark are two initials that have your heart squeezing with agony. Your fingers brush against the haphazardly scratched letters, and you can hear faint laughter in your ears, the squealing of young children playing around.
"(name)...?" Lockwood says. His voice is cautious.
Before you can be dragged into your grief, you crouch down to the ground, slipping your crowbar out of your bag and hacking it into the ground. You don't have a shovel, but this is the best you've got until you can make the dirt loose. Soon enough, you're digging with your hands, soil embedding itself under your nails as you go deeper and deeper.
Your fingers scratch something wooden, and your heart sinks. With a struggle you pull it out, holding the little box in your hands.
It's nothing fancy, just a little jewellery box bought from a craft shop, covered in faded pen drawings. You kneel there, looking at it for a minute.
"What is it?" George asks.
Before you start crying, you stand, tearing the silver net out of Lucy's bag and wrapping the box in it. "Time capsule."
George frowns. "How did you know -"
"I had a feeling," you say, shoving it into his hands.
Lockwood's looking at you funny, but you won't meet his eyes. "We should wait here a little longer, see if the ghost appears. We don't know if we got the wrong source."
And you do so.
You sit there, obediently, staring at the tree unmovingly. In the darkness, it looks like a monster, stretching its horrible arms out to grasp you and whisk you off into the night. You almost wish it would.
Someone sits beside you, silent for a moment before saying, "You knew the girl, didn't you? Those are your initials on the tree."
It takes all of your strength not to cry. Lockwood's hand reaches for you, and it's only now that you realise you've been picking away at the skin around your nails. Your cuticles are bleeding in places. His hand is warm, comforting, and his fingers thread through yours, squeezing softly.
"She was my best friend," you say quietly. "I used to live in that house just next door. We'd spend most days together, hanging out and playing. We even joined Rotwell together."
"I didn't know you worked for Rotwell."
You shrug, swallowing the lump in your throat. "I left after... Her source, we made that just after we'd both turned thirteen. Time capsules were all the rage, remember? And we wanted to have something to remember each other by if one of us found it later in life. She..."
Tears cloud your eyes, and you're glad that Lucy and George are on the other side of the garden, keeping readings on the temperature around the tree.
"We were climbing that tree one day. We used to do it all the time, and we didn't think it would be any different, but... She lost balance, and she fell. Her parents weren't home, and mine were at work. The newspapers say she died on impact, but she didn't. I didn't call an ambulance soon enough. I sat with her, held her in my arms as she -"
It's too much. The tears spill, burning your skin as they make their cruel descent. It feels like your chest is caving in, destroying your heart and your lungs and every single blood vessel. There's a heavy weight on your shoulders, slowly crushing you.
Lockwood's arms circle you, pulling you into him as he murmurs, "It wasn't your fault, okay? It was not your fault. You were a kid."
By now, you've lost all semblance of your pride, and the sobs come openly. You clutch onto him like a lifeline, the only thing keeping you rooted to this world. All of the feelings you've spent years burying are coming back in tidal waves, filling up your lungs until you can't breathe. Guilt, grief, agony, rage. They all return tenfold.
You've spent years waking up from nightmares, watching that moment replaying over and over again. Sometimes, she speaks to you in those final moments, telling you she loves you or saying how much she hates you for letting her die. It's eaten you alive in the years since, but it became manageable.
Not anymore.
Lockwood continues his chant, telling you that it's not your fault as he holds you to his chest. The sound of his heartbeat, the steady thrum of it, is something you eventually manage to pace your breathing with and, after what feels like years, you can breathe again, though you hiccup every now and then.
"Why didn't you tell me?" he asks softly. "If I'd have known, I would've let you stay back."
Sniffling, you say, "You never would've found the source if not for me. You would've been hopeless."
He laughs quietly, and it helps ease your tears a little more. Still, you hold onto him tightly, glancing up at the garden.
"Where are Lucy and George?"
"They left," he says. "I think they wanted to give you some space. There's been no sign of the ghost."
You don't have the energy to be embarrassed at their seeing you crying hysterically. "I'm okay now."
"No, you're not."
"Yes, I am." You move to sit up, but Lockwood's arms keep you close. "Lockwood, I'm fine."
"I might not know a lot about girls, but I know that 'I'm fine' means the absolute opposite."
Groaning, you settle yourself in his grip, listening to his quiet breathing. You're grateful for him, in all honesty. The way he holds you so carefully, how he's let you cry for so long and ruin one of his shirts with your tears, it makes you realise how much you truly appreciate him.
He's always tried to keep you safe during these cases in the past two months, always willing to sacrifice himself for you. And while that makes you eternally grateful for him, it means nowhere as much as this: him letting you grieve without embarrassment or judgement. You suppose it's because he, too, has had too much to grieve, but maybe he never had this support.
"Her name was Aiva," you murmur. "She was always joking around. She was top of the class while we were in school, and she was set for being important at Rotwell's. She had Sight, like you, but it was her smarts that got her places. I would've followed her anywhere."
Lockwood's head rests atop yours. "I'm sorry you lost her."
You stare at the box wrapped in the silver net a few feet away. How you wish you could open it and skim through the photos and memorabilia within.
A soft kiss on your temple, gentle and barely noticeable. "Let's get you home then, shall we? I'll make you a cup of tea, just how you like, and I'm sure we have some doughnuts left over from our last delivery from Arif's."
A small smile tugs your lips. "That sounds nice."

TESSDE AU (+ Lucia :]) (Inigo part 4!!)
Inigo: *walking hand in hand with Lucia, tail swinging happily* Your mother has been working very hard lately. How about we get her something nice?
Lucia: Yeah! I wanna! What should we get her?
Inigo: *hums idly, placing his hand to his chin as he looks at the various stalls* She has plenty of jewelry all ready...
Lucia: *looks up at him and copies him with her hand on her chin* Hm...
Inigo: *notices and grins* Hehehe.
Auntie Vantus: *traveled to Whiterun to get away from Cicero bothering them daily about the damn broke wheel, sees Lucia hand in hand with a Khajiit and bristles, stomping up to them* Excuse me! What do you think you're doing?!
Inigo: *blinks, turning to her* Hm? I am looking around for a present for my partner! Are you here to assist?
Lucia: *stiffens and tightly holds Inigo's hand, hiding behind him* Auntie...
Inigo: Auntie?
Auntie Vantus: That's right, unhand my niece! How dare you! We've been looking for you everywhere dear, oh, Curwe has been so worried!
Lucia: *shaking, terrified of even remotely thinking of going back*
Inigo: *glares at the woman, protectively standing in front of Lucia* You got rid of her the moment you could, from what my she and partner have told me.
Auntie Vantus: What?! She was stolen from us! In the middle of the night! *secretly enjoying the crowd she's pulling, knowing Whiterun does not favour Khajiit at all* I bet you stole her, didn't you?
Inigo: No. I did not.
Lucia: *clinging to Inigo's leg, sniffling* Papa...
Auntie Vantus: *jerks her head back* 'Papa'? Lucia- your father is at home! He's been worried sick too! Has he brainwashed you? *sneers at Inigo* How dare you!
Inigo: *growls low in warning, ears pulled back* I would suggest you stop screaming before I get angry.
Auntie Vantus: Oh-! You're threatening me now?!
Lucia: *shakily taps on her necklace for Allora, begging her to come help*
Crowd: Get outta here, Khajiit! / Child thief! / Someone get the guards!
Lucia: He's my papa! Leave him alone! *clings tightly to Inigo's leg* I won't go back!
Auntie Vantus: Dear, please, you're breaking my heart-!
Allora: Clearly not enough to get you to shut up. *forces her way through the crowd, sneering at everyone* What in Oblivion do you think you're all doing?
Crowd: *shrinks at the Dragonborn's ire* Uh... / Well... / Um...
Allora: *hurries over to Lucia and Inigo, picking up her daughter* It's okay sweetheart, I'm here... are you all right?
Inigo: Annoyed, but no worse for wear. How did you know we needed you?
Allora: *smiles weakly, motioning to her matching necklace with Lucia* Lucien and her made these, we can talk at distances with them. *turns her steely gaze to Auntie Vantus, eyes slitting into draconic pupils* Can I help you?
Auntie Vantus: You can start by telling me why you're holding my niece! Unhand her!
Allora: *cocks her head to the side* Oh, you're just an idiot, aren't you? You don't know even know who I am, do you? Or my partner?
Auntie Vantus: *scoffs* Should I?
Allora: I am the only thing keeping the world alive. I am the one thing keeping food one everyone's plate. I'm the only one able to keep everyone breathing. *delicately hands Lucia to Inigo, kissing her hands before stalking over to Auntie Vantus* I am irrate because you are verbally abusing and harassing my family, and I hardly have the time to entertain you while trying to save someone's life. I am the one five seconds from turning you into a bad memory. Who are you?
Auntie Vantus: *swallows, nervous from the crowd's palpable fear, jutting out her chin confidentally* I-I'm her Aunt. She belongs to me.
Allora: *silent, staring, before a smile slowly peels across her lips and a dark chuckle slips out* Wrong answer. Inigo?
Inigo: Yes, my friend?
Allora: Why don't you show Lucia to the Companions and let them know I'll be back soon.
Lucia: *swallows her whimper* Mama...?
Allora: *flashes her a much brighter smile* She and I are going to have a little chat, love! I'll be back soon, promise! Okay?
Lucia: *hesitates before nodding, casting one last glance at Auntie Vantus before Inigo turns and hurries off*
Auntie Vantus: What-! How dare-!
Allora: *grabs her neck the second the two are out of view, not even looking at her, making the crowd flinch* Let's go chat.

Tumblr media
“Break a leg out there now my love,” I giggled as I settled the babies into their back papoose on my soulmate’s back.
“Will do sweetheart,” he chuckled, bending to press a sweet kiss to my forehead before sweeping out onto the stage, being met by the crowd’s thunder.
 “Mommy, is it me, or does the stage look really funky?” Katie asked me when Peter finished playing Wolf Moon, pausing to ask the crowd something. Sure enough, it appeared the be buckling in the center, behind where Peter was strumming his bass and crooning into his microphone.
 I opened my mouth to say something, only to have all the air in my body fly out as the stage collapsed with the band members on it. Peter turned his head and looked at me, fear in his eyes as he dropped his bass and slung the babies to his manly chest before his disappeared, falling well over ten feet onto concrete below.
 “PETER!” I screeched, lunging forward to pull my husband and the babies out, only to be held back by Slitzy. “BABY TOMMY! LITTLE GIRL!”
 “What the fuck just happened?” Slitzy demanded to know as the entire arena- backstage and stage area- erupted into fear and panic.
 I just looked out, shocked and confused as fans broke through the barrier and began to dig through the rubble.
 “Mommy!” Elizabeth screamed, her eyes wide with fright as she and Katie just clung to me.
 “Is daddy okay?” Katie fretted as I passed the girls off to Slitzy before I ran out of the backstage area and out onto the concert floor just as a screaming little girl was pulled free by a chubby man.
 “Little girl!” I sobbed as she was passed my way. Her jeans were ripped and a trickle of blood was running from her knee.
 “I got Baby Tommy!” someone yelled, the wailing little boy also passed my way.
 “Where’s Peter? Where’s my husband?” I sobbed out as sirens roared off in the distance.
 “Ma’am? Are you alright if I look the babies over?” asked a woman in scrub and a calm face. I numbly handed her little girl first and watched as she conducted a quick examination before handing her back to me and asking for Baby Tommy. “Little girl seems fine to me, but I thing Baby Tommy needs an x-ray done of his leg. I would take them to a doctor to be on the sure side.”
 “Thank you,” I choked out, sagging into her arms and just weeping.
 “We got Peter!”
 A collective cheer went up as paramedics rushed to the scene, where the band members were loaded onto gurneys before being whisked off to ambulances.
 I trotted alongside of Peter, telling him that I was here for him, ignoring the ugly angle that his leg was in.
 “Sweetheart, go take the kids home,” he ordered me before he blacked out from the amount of pain that he was in.
 “What hospital are you taking him to?” I asked one of the paramedics who was loading him into an ambulance.
 “Lincoln Memorial, he has a niece who’s a doctor there, right? I’ll radio the hospital and have her on standby.”
 “Thank you, thank you, thank you…” I whimpered as I watched them load him into the ambulance before tearing off down the street with their Christmas light flashing.
 “MC!” James’ station wagon skidded to a stop next to me. “Get in- the girls are already packed up.”
 “Here, strap them in,” I told Elizabeth and Katie as I handed them the babies before getting in. I had barely even had any time to shut the door when James was screeching off behind the ambulance, keeping up an even pace behind it.
 “Hang tight, we’re almost there!” Aaron promised me as James skidded to a stop right in the middle of the ambulance bay, ejecting myself and the babies, promising me that he would drop the girls off at home before joining me.
 “Go!” I gasped before tearing off into the hospital after Peter. “How’s my husband?” I demanded to know of a doctor who was tending to him.
 “He’ll need surgery,” he told me in a grim voice before leading me into an examination room. “I’ll be back in a minute to check up on the babies.”
 I sat down, the two babies screaming like a jammed foghorn- I couldn’t tell if they were in pain or if they were just frightened. And for that, I felt like the worse mother in existence.
 “Mary Claire, I was watching the band on their website live stream!” Ryley announced herself, soaring into the examination room with her coat hanging from her shoulders in an awkward position, indicating that she had tossed it on before racing out.
 I just mutely handed her little girl, watching numbly as she gave the almost two year old a full examination, poking her in the tummy and using a soft, gentle voice to speak to her.
 “Boop boop boop!” she sang out, crooning when little girl reached out and stole her glasses from her face. “Uh, excuse you little girl!”
 “Mesies wantsies Papa Pete!” she sniffled, calmed down enough at last. I swapped babies with her, removing the glasses from little girl’s hands and replacing them with a red curl. “Mama Wen Wen, where Papa Pete?”
 “Papa Pete is in with the doctor,” I soothed her in a shaky voice. “Papa Pete is receiving the best care in the whole wide world!”
 “Mama Wen Wen? Mesies tired…” she announced, promptly drooping in my arms and going to sleep.
 “I’d like to order some x-rays for both babies, just to be on the sure side that they’ve sustained no serious injuries,” she told me in a gentle voice just as Aaron charged into the room.
 While Ryley repeated her findings to little girl’s father, I bounced both babies in my arms, cooing at the crying Baby Tommy.
 “Totul va fi bine,” i cooed as we settled the babies down onto the seperate cots and stood off to the side as Ryly injected a knock out drug to their arms before rolling them off to have x-rays taken.
 “It’s okay Mary Claire,” Aaron soothed me, wrapping an arm loosely around my shoulders as I clung to him. “Everyone’s in competent hands right now.”
 “I was so scared!” I wept, finally allowing myself to lose control. “I want my husband!”
 I just wanted Peter.
  Totul va fi bine, everything will be fine, Romainian

Crush on you
Tumblr media
Part 1 here
Screaming in the halls had you wincing at your desk, no matter how long you worked at the school you never got used to the screaming and the yelling. You were past grade school, so why were they still screeching? “So… The fire chief, huh?” Sanemi, the math teacher leaned over your cubicle, looking over the rim of his glasses at you. “I don’t know what you’re talking about” “Don’t play coy, Senjuro was hanging out with my brother last night, wouldn’t shut up about it” you cursed under your breath. Of course, Senjuro wouldn't be able to keep his mouth shut about your fresh relationship. Your boyfriend's little wingman had been beaming with pride since the day of your first date. “Figured he would tell everyone” Sanemi laughed, throwing his head back with a hearty cackle. “He’s a good guy, built. I’m surprised, I thought you had a thing for the daycare guy” “Gyomei? He’s sweet and he watches my niece like a hawk but no, I do not have the hots for the daycare owner.” he hummed, unimpressed. “Miss Y/N?” Looking around your cubicle, Senjuro stood in the doorway of the office. “Senjuro, what can I help you with?” He was wringing his hands in his uniform shirt, obviously nervous about what he came to ask about. You looked back to Sanemi who shrugged and walked away, back to his own cubicle. “I have a question” He walked up to your desk, standing next to your chair, “Genya told me to ask you if it's possible if you can tutor us at my house since you dating my brother and everything, I figured you’d be at our house anyways” He let out an awkward laugh, anxiety pooling in his words as he continued to tug at his usually neat uniform shirt. You looked behind the young boy toward Sanemi who quickly turned back to his own desk, clearly not eavesdropping. Clearing your throat you replied. “I’m sorry Senjuro, you know I don't do private tutoring and my relationship with your brother is completely separate from you as my student. The honors club provides free tutoring after school in the science lab on Thursdays.” you smiled, trying not to sound like such a hard-ass but trying to draw the line. “Okay, thank you miss Y/N” he bowed, running back into the hall where Genya was waiting. “Your brother is trying to get me fired” you shot at Sanemi, making him let out a laugh. “I’m not the one sleeping with the fire chief” he shrugged, focusing on his assignments to grade.“You know Senjuro hasn’t shut up about us. He tried getting extra tutoring, I guess he was bragging to Genya and now Sanemi knows” your boyfriend chuckled, patting your hand that sat on his center console.
“I know, Sanemi told Obanai, who told Mitsuri, who has told everyone. Got to work this morning and all the guys were applauding” you laughed “Who would have known, that us dating would be the talk of the town.” Putting the car in park Kyojuro turned to you, brushing a hair out of his face before speaking. “Well, you did bag the most eligible bachelor in town.” he waggled his eyebrows, quickly escaping the car to avoid your eye roll. “I know, who are all the grandmas going to set their grandkids up with now?” the two of you laughed as you stepped out of the car, heading into the bar. “There they are!! The couple of the century!!” Mitsuri cheered lifting her colorful drink as your small group of friends cheered. It was a surprise learning that the two of you shared friends but never met up previously, but to be honest, Mitsuri had been trying to set you up for a while, you were just stubborn. “If you guys get married you think the whole town will come?” You scoffed as you sat “We’ve been dating almost two months, relax” “I know she’s as excited as Senjuro” Sanemi snickered into his glass before downing the rest of his drink. Obanai sat between the two of them glaring at Giyu and Shinobu who sat on the other side of Mitsuri. “Well, I’ve been trying for so long, KYojuro saw Y/N once at the cafe and then kept aski-” “Alright there Mitsuri, let's slow down on the drinks, huh?” Kyojuro chuckled nervously, sliding her drink towards him and away from her. “Ah, no. That’s my first one dick” she spit, tugging her drink out of his hand and towards her. “You asked about me?” You turned towards your boyfriend, his cheeks already red and he wasn’t even drinking yet. “Well, you know. Curious about Mitsuri’s friends outside of the usual” Obanai scoffed this time obviously not buying the lie. “Right, because asking Mitsuri about her ‘cute friend’ you’ve somehow never seen before and asking if she’s single is just friendly” OBanai smirked,m leaning back in his chair. Kyojuro shrunk in his own chair, sending a glare towards the florist before looking back at you. “That’s cute, you had a little crush on me before you even came to my classroom? Oh my, Kyojuro, did you ask Senjuro about me as well?” the blush on his cheek somehow darkened, almost lighting his face ablaze with embarrassment. “I-yes. But he was already talking about you, I just never realized it was you. It’s usually my father that goes to his school things but then he retired and he needed someone for career day” he let out an uneven breath. “Babe, relax. It’s cute, I’m flattered. I would be a hypocrite if I said I never asked Mitsuri about you.” “Gross” Interrupting the obvious lovey aura between you and your lover Sanemi snorted, rolling his eyes before rising from the table with his glass. “I’m glad you have a crush on me because i have one on you”

YOU GUYS ARE DATING
Corpse x MGK!sister reader
Tumblr media
(Found this image on Pinterest so all credit goes to artist, if you know who it is please comment below so I can credit them)
A/N: this was requested by @heyitssab
Tree is tall of sex in this, but it’s more in a joking matter, plus corpse has stated he doesn’t mind as long as you are not a minor or send or tag him. I’m literally 2 years younger than him, and have no intentions of ever tagging him or sending him any of my work XD
Summary: how many idiots does it take to tell the brother and friend they’re dating? Apparently takes 2 very forgetful people, who kept their relationship secret without knowing it.
It had just been by chance, a small chance that he had been scrolling through his tags. liking and reposting art, when he saw a tag from someone he followed. He wrecked his brain for when he had followed her, coming up empty. She was cute, no denying the beauty she had as she laughed in the video. It was a clip from a stream that he didn’t know she had, as he couldn’t even remember her name, wearing his merch as it fit her snug. It fit her perfectly in fact, the large hood covering her face, hiding the flush to her face from her rather large chuckles that left her body. He couldn’t help but like the photo, and he couldn’t help but to press message either.
It was first only small likes to posts, an Occasional message, and a view on their livestreams, but that all changed when he spoke of the song he was working on with her older brother.
It all started that night, when both lay in their beds as they talked, laughed, and felt their hearts flutter each time they heard one another speak.
Her phone rang violently in her bag, nearly making her drop the to go bag all over the ground as she walked. “Hello?” She asked, as she held both bags with her hands as her shoulder gripped the phone as if it’d fall down a cliff. “Hey bug!” He exclaimed, making her chuckle as she heard the booming sound of his voice. She had always detested the nickname, as he gave it to her as kids due to her horrendous fear of the creatures. But, it brought more joy to her, as it reminded her of their youth. Having been adults for years, it was fun to hear such a childish name that’s stuck.
“Hey mopey.” She chuckled, as that was the name she gave him when he was in his emo phase that he never outgrew.
Both talked as she walked towards the elevator, mainly about how his day had gone as she silently listened.
She had always been this way, always the shyer of the two, the one to listen to others first before she said a word. He had teased her for it most of their childhood and teen life, but he had grown to love it, as he could let loose or rant to her about anything, and he knew she’d be there just to listen to him.
“So what’re you doing right now?” He asked, as she got into the elevator. “Just grabbed some dinner a few minutes before you called and nearly made me shit.” A smile painted on her face at his boisterous laughter.
“Are you at home?” He asked, as he heard the sound of the elevator beeping in the background. “No, I’m spending the night with my boyfriend.”
She had mentioned about a month prior that she was seeing someone, the joy it brought him to hear the excitement and joy in her tone as she gushed about their first date.
If this was 7 or 8 years prior, he would be bombarding her with questions about the man, who he was, where he lived, where he could meet him to find his intentions with his baby sister. But, in the last few years, he found himself feeling calmer whenever she’d mentioned her love life. He knew she was smart, and would never date a man who treated her poorly. The few breakups she had, they always ended amicably, her head still high as she told him. So, he never asked her any questions about the man, as he could tell from the few times she mentioned him, he could feel the love this man had for her, and Vice versa.
The strong barreling of her phone alerted them awake, both groaning out as she reached for her phone without lifting her head from his shoulder. “Hello?” She mumbled, voice slurred as the saliva was thick in her mouth, barely awake as she fought to listen in on who dares to wake them up.
“Hey!” He exclaimed, making her equally exhausted lover groan. She shifted off of him, laying on her back as he turned away from her, as to hopefully shut his eyes and fall back asleep. She was used to her brother's large voice, as it hardly phased her after growing up with him. “Colson, why are you calling me this ungodly hour?” “Oh come on, it’s not that early.” “Col its-“ She pulled her phone from her ear, eyes shutting violently as the bright light blinded her “5 o’clock in the morning. So again, I’m going to ask you, why did you call me at the asscrack of dawn?” “You don’t remember?” He asked, making her irritation grow. “No, that’s why I’m asking.” She says, as she rubbed her sleep crusted eyes. “You were coming up today to hang out with casie, remember?” Her hand stopped rubbing her face, as she felt her heart stop momentarily. “Wait, you mean today? I thought I was coming Friday?” “No, both of you settled on today, remember I told you that’s perfect because I have a day off?” She felt her heart pain as she heard the sadness in his tone, knowing he’s expecting her to bail. “Yeah sorry, I thought you meant Friday so I mixed it up, let me get ready and I’ll be out the door okay? Love you” she said, as she hung up the line.
Before she could even move, she felt his arm wrap around her body. A tired groan leaving his lips. “Nooo stayyyy.” He groaned, pulling her body to his. She smiled as she looked down at him, wrapping her arm on his chest and the other behind his neck. “I wish I could live, but I can’t.” Planting a soft kiss against his lips. “Stay in bed for a few more hours, please?” Her heart pulled at his tone, hearing just how tired he was. “I can’t, casies wanted me to come up for weeks now. And it takes a good 3 hours to get there. I wanna spend as much time as I can with them before it gets dark so I can get back safely.” He groaned at this, wrapping his arms around her. “Yeah but it’s only 5, it wouldn’t be safe to drive since we went to bed like, 2 hours ago.” “Yeah, and whos fault was that mister?” She teased, “hmm, sorry but I just couldn’t keep my hands to myself after not seeing you for a few days.” He mused, pulling her body closer to his, planting his lips against hers. A small hum left her lips as he pulled her thigh over his, grabbing the flesh harshly as their lips cascaded together. “Mm, no no no, you’re not gonna convince me to stay here just to go another round.” She said, as she got off from his warm body, throwing his large hoodie over her bare body. “Oh come on babe, are you sure about that?” He said, making her turn around to him. A small gasp left her lips as her eyes took in his milky white complexion. His honey brown eyes looking back at her with a small smile etched onto his face. His hair a tousled mess that resembled a bird's nest, some pieces falling onto his face. “Honey, I’ve been wanting to see my family for weeks now, I see you almost everyday and practically live here. I’ll be back tomorrow so I can grab more clothes from my place okay?” She placed a kiss to his lips, both holding one another in their arms. “I don’t know why you don’t just say fuck that place and just move in.” He mumbled, making her chuckle and heart warm. “Don't you think it’s a little soon though? I mean we’ve only been together a few months love.” “Yeah, but you’ve practically lived here since we got together, you literally just go there to get more clothes that you end up leaving here.” She looked into his eyes as she thought about his words. “Hm, I’ll think about it today okay?” She mused, planting a kiss to his lips. A soft okay leaving him as she got up.
“And babe, remember if you live here, we can have all the sex we want and not have to worry about driving to get one another.” He exclaimed, laughing at the loud honey she screamed from the bathroom.
She couldn’t help but laugh out as she watched, as her niece tried her hardest to braid her fathers grown out hair. It was near impossible not to, as pieces would fall out, resulting in her pulling them harsher, nearly pulling his eyelids back due to the tension from his temples. “Okay okay you’re gonna fuckin scalp me.” He chuckled , as all three bursted out in large laughter.
“So how’s school going this year?” She asked her, as she delicately painted her nails. Both of the girls had found themselves on the floor in front of the nice coffee table, as colson sat and chatted with them. “It’s going really well.” “Oh yeah? Make any new friends?” She teased. “I mean, kinda.” She couldn’t help but hear the wavering in her tone, spotting the faint blush dusting her skin. “Ohh, so there’s a someone eh?” She teased to her, making the preteen hide her face as to conceal the flush. “His names Garrett, and we both take social studies together. He always sits next to me at lunch, and we’ll draw on my notebook.” She gushed, making her smile. “Soo, do you think he likes you?” “I mean, that’s what everyone keeps saying.” “Yeah well don’t worry about it to much cas, you’re not dating anyone for many more years. You’re still a kid.” Her das said, making the young girls face fall.
Y/N knew he was only saying this to protect her, as he said the same thing to her growing up. “Hey, don’t be bummed out about it. He is right, you both are only 12 and should focus on school. But don’t worry, he’ll come around. He was just like that with me up until my current boyfriend.” She whispered, making the young girl chuckle.
“Speaking of which, how are you guys doing?” He asked, as she hadn’t mentioned hun to her in a while. He didn’t think it’d hurt to ask. “Great actually, we’re thinking of moving in together actually.” “That’s great! I’m really happy that y’all met.” “Yeah, I am too.” She hummed, a flush dusting her cheeks.
Both men laughed as they chatted on the phone, talking about anything that would come to mind. What was once only a collaboration for a song, turned into an amazing friendship that caused both of them to call at late hours just to shoot the shit.
A yawn left his lips, as he listened to colson ramble on about another song he was making. “Woah, you tired man?” Colson asked, shocked to hear the sound. “Yeah sorry, was up most of the night last night.” He mumbled, rubbing his eyes. “Were you feeling alright?” He asked, worry laced in his tone. He knew all about his friends illnesses, even once being on the other end of the phone during a bad spell one day.” “Oh yeah yeah yeah, was just, up with the misses last night.” He chuckled, a flush blooming on his cheeks. “Ohhh yeah? And how was it?” This shocked him, nearly feeling his heart stop. Like, does he usually know about his sisters sex life? He didn’t think much of it, as he knew just how close both were. “It was absolutely fucking amazing. Like I thought we’d be done for the night, fully tapped out but after like 5 minutes she’d be right back on me for another round.” He chuckled, his flush even worse than before. “Ayyyeee good for you corpse, glad to hear that puss is bussin.” He laughed at this, throwing his head back. “Yeah, it’s bussin bussin.”
Both men talk as they read from their phones, eyes wide in absolute awe of the love they received from the song. They had just dropped it a few days prior, not expecting the cry of joy from both fan bases.
He didn’t even look up from it when she walked in, until she bent down to plant a kiss to his forehead. “Sorry I had completely forgot about the tea I made you an hour ago, but I put it back on the stove to heat it up so if it’s twisting funky just tell me okay?” Before he could even thank her, both their heads whipped towards the loudness from the other line. “Y/N? Is that you? What in the hell are you doing there with corpse!” He didn’t sound angry, more shocked than anything, both of them looking at the phone in confusion. “I, I love here? Remember I told you like a month ago I was moving in with him?” “WHAT!” Both jumped at the loud scream. “Wait so you guys are dating!?” Both we’re even more perplexed, until it dawned on both of them. Their eyes wide as they turned their heads to one another slowly. “Wait you didn’t tell him?” “No? He’s one of your best friends so I thought you did!” “He’s your brother! So I thought you did!” Both whisper, until all three lay silent. That was until, the large cry of laughter that leaves the two, leaving colson even more confused. He wasn’t mad, not at all actually. More shocked and confused than anything. Until he started thinking, it does make sense, all the times they spoke about one another without him knowing, all the times they mentioned-“OH GOD!” He yelled, gagging violently, making them stop their laughing fit. “What's wrong? Why are you yelling?” She asks “like a month ago corpse was talking about how he was tired cause he was up all night having sex AND I HAD NO IDEA HE WAS TALKING ABOUT YOU! OH GOD WAS THAT WHY YOU WERE LIMPING THAT DAY WITH CAS AND I!” Both laugh even harder, as they listen to his ever growing gags.
“So yeah,. That’s literally how we had no idea we were keeping the relationship secret from her brother.” He laughed, as he red the comments and listened to his friends' laughter. She sat beside him, head laying on his shoulder as he told the story. She couldn’t help but to look back up into his eyes, as he glanced down at her, planting a soft kiss to her lips. “Keep it pg guys.” Colson said from the other line, making them chuckle.

Ready for anything
A/N: To the person that sent in this request: I am soo sorry that this took so long to reply to! I found it hard to find motivation to write but I’m back now, so thank you so much for your patience and I hope you enjoy!
Request: What about the reader travelling with tom and Harry, and when they are gonna order something she orders some weird stuff, and Harry is teasing her asking if it's pregnancy cravings, tom tells him to shut up and leave alone, when he goes to the other side of the airport Harry apologizes to you, and you don't say a thing, kinda looking behind you to see if tom was there and Harry is like: WAIT omg you are pregnant aren't you? And now is your turn telling him to shut up because tom doesn't know yet hahaha
Warnings: None I don’t think.
Travelling with Tom and Harry was very fun, although recently you’d been struggling, you’d found out last week that you were pregnant, the pregnancy test was stashed away in your bag as you figured out how to tell your boyfriend. It wasn’t that he didn’t want kids, he did, but the timing might not have been right for his career and it worried you to no end.
You’d travelled across America today and the flight left you feeling slightly sick, your feet felt tired and you in general felt tired. You’d spent half the flight asleep on Tom. You were between flights as you waited in the airport.
“I’m so hungry, wanna go grab something to eat?” Harry said as Tom nodded. You yourself were hungry but you were struggling to eat normal stuff, your cravings were all over the place and you’d done a good job hiding it so far but you weren’t so sure that you could this time.
You were craving pickles, Tom and Harry both knew you hated them. You’d spent so much time eating with Harry when Tom was filming that Harry knew your likes and dislikes like the back of his hand.
You ordered your food and Harry looked at you and you almost panicked, your burger had extra pickles on it, something he knew you usually requested to be off your food.
“Pickles?” Harry quirked a brow.
“Yeah, I um, I tried them a while ago and decided their not so bad.” You shrugged hoping it’d work. It didn’t.
“Y/N, you hate them.” Harry laughed. “Wait wait wait. Are you having pregnancy cravings?” He asked with a laugh and your heart stopped.
“What? No.” You said quickly.
“You sure?” He teased. “Do I have a niece or nephew on the way you’re not telling me about?”
“Harry, bro, leave her alone. People change their mind on food all the time. You like broccoli now and I remember when you used to cry because mum put it on your plate.” Tom said, always quick to jump in to defend you.
“I’m joking.” Harry laughed, you were glad neither of them had noticed the pale in your face.
“Just leave her alone.” Tom grumbled as he made his way into a shop he’d been itching to go into, leaving you and Harry stood outside.
“Sorry Y/N/N, I was only kidding.” He said, you were too wrapped up in how you’d gotten away with that interaction, too wrapped up in your own head to respond. “Y/N/N? You’ve not fallen out with me have you?” He panicked and you still couldn’t bring yourself to respond. “Wait a second, Y/N?” He said as he placed his hands on your shoulders, bringing you crashing back into reality. “Are you?” He asked seriously.
You only nodded quickly in response as you watched Harry grin.
“Oh my god! You are! This is so exciting!” He almost screamed and you panicked, making sure Tom hadn’t returned, eyes frantically looking for your boyfriend.
“Harry! Shut up!” You hushed. “Tom doesn’t know.” You admitted.
“He’ll be over the moon.” Harry said as he rubbed your shoulders.
“Will he? The timing doesn’t feel right for his career.” You admitted in a quiet voice.
“Tom has talked about you guys having a kid for the last few months, I think he thinks it’s a good time.” Harry reassured.
“Really?” You asked.
“Yeah, he’ll be ecstatic, you should just tell him.” Harry smiled.
“Tell who what?” Tom said and your heart started racing, neither one of you had noticed his return.
“Nothing. I’ll tell you later.” You said, turning in the direction of your boyfriend.
“What’s wrong?” He asked, instantly concerned at the look on your face.
“I-” You stopped yourself, looking at the mass amounts of people surrounding you. “Can we go somewhere a little more private?” You asked and he nodded, taking your hand in his as he found a very quiet corner of the airport, Harry giving you a small thumbs up as you walked away.
“What’s wrong?” Tom asked as he cupped your cheek, thumb running over it.
“Please don’t be mad.” You said quietly, tears almost instantly filling your eyes. “I erm, I know the timing might not be right but I’m pregnant. Tom I’m so sorry if it’s not something you want right now.” You cried as you stuffed your face into his chest, his arms instantly engulfing you as he moved you slightly out of the way of any possible prying eyes.
“Baby, shh.” He hushed you as he ran a hand through your hair and kissed the top of your head. “I know.” He said and your ears perked up at that as you pulled away from him, confused expression on your face.
“What?”
“I know. I needed some paracetamol last night and you keep them in your bag don’t you?” He grinned, he’d obviously found your positive test.
“Why didn’t you say anything?” You asked, utterly confused, this boy was not the best at keeping things to himself.
“Wanted to wait until you were ready to tell me.” He said as he pulled you back into his chest, chin resting on top of your head. “Baby, I’m not mad. I almost woke you up, had to hold in my excitement. There’ll never be bad timing with you, I’m ready for anything and everything with you. This is best news I’ve had in a long time. Baby, I love you so much, nothing is gonna change that, in fact you being pregnant has made me love you that much more.”
You heart instantly lifted at his words, all of your fears disappearing in an instant. You loved the  man in front of you so much that you didn’t know it was possible to fall more in love with him but here you are.
“Really? You’re not mad? You’re ready?” You asked and he smiled as he hugged you tighter.
“I’m ready for anything with you. I could never be angry at such good news.”

word count: 4.4K+
_____
The familiar scene in the yard of Kate’s parents’ summer home on Cape Cod would normally fill her with contentment and peace, as all her family and closest, lifelong friends were gathered together in celebration. Her brother was marrying his college sweetheart in twenty-four hours, and Kate had every reason to be happy.
Today, though, after not being part of such an occasion for many months due to work obligations back in Seattle, Kate felt strange pangs of guilt and discomfort. Days like today made her wonder why she had ever left Boston in the first place.
And seeing her childhood best friend Kevin manning the grill, his nieces and nephews hanging from his long limbs as he promised them he would play with them as soon as the food was finished, made her wonder why she had ever left him in the first place.
How she had ever left him in the first place.
Kate was still lost in her own thoughts when, from across the lawn, she heard a shrill scream, followed by an ecstatic, “Auntie Kate!”
Her goddaughter Neila’s voice was unmistakable, and Kate set her purse on the grass just in time to catch Neila on her running jump, all the way from her Uncle Kevin straight into Kate’s arms. Pure joy flooded Kate’s soul as she caught Neila, giggling, and held the little girl to her chest.
“My beautiful Nene!” Kate exclaimed, kissing her cheek. “I missed you!”
Neila pulled back, pushing her hair away from her face. “I missed you, too,” she said sincerely before throwing her arms around Kate’s neck again.
A moment later, Neila wriggled out of Kate’s hold and turned toward the crowd of family and friends on the patio.
“Auntie Kate is here!” Neila announced, eliciting chuckles from the adults. Except for one — Kevin, whose eyes had already been glued to Kate since his niece’s initial squeal upon discovering her arrival. He’d turned his back on the grill to find his niece holding onto Kate’s hands and hopping backwards in an effort to pull her to join the party on the patio.
Kevin looked on as Kate threw her head back in laughter, and he felt the sort of distinct happiness that he only found when Kate was near. He couldn’t stop staring, mesmerized by how radiant she looked in her lilac sundress, with her curls thrown over her shoulders… that is, he couldn’t stop staring until his brother clapped him hard on the shoulder.
“Steaks are gonna burn, Kev,” Jimmy said loudly in order to bring Kevin back down to earth. Kevin simply nodded and turned back to the grill. Jimmy’s eyes traveled to where Kate stood reuniting with her immediate family, and a soft smile found his lips.
“She looks beautiful, no?” Jimmy spoke into Kevin’s ear, more softly this time. He was always more than willing to publicly embarrass his little brother when it came to an array of subjects. But Kate wasn’t one of them. Jimmy wouldn’t dare.
Kevin only nodded, again. Jimmy squeezed his shoulder, then scooped up his little son in his arms and headed to see his old friend.
Kate’s parents, her older brother Patrick, and his fiancée Joelle had just finished taking turns greeting her with hugs when, over her brother’s shoulder, she spotted Jimmy carrying Beau.
“Baby Beau!” Kate gasped, holding out her hands as Beau smiled and reached out for her. “Who let you get this big?!” she questioned as she took him in her arms. He simply giggled and laid his head on her shoulder.
“Hello, Kathleen Paige,” Jimmy greeted, using her full name as he had for Kate’s entire life, no matter how much she had hated the Irish moniker as a young kid.
“Hi, J,” she replied fondly, leaning in so that he could wrap her in a hug and plant a kiss to her forehead. “Your boy is getting way too big,” she told him, tickling Beau’s belly and making him laugh.
“Tell me about it,” Jimmy said. “How are you? You look great.”
Kate glanced downward, tucking some hair behind her ear.
“Thanks. I’m okay,” she replied uncharacteristically dryly, switching Beau to her other arm. “It’s good to be home,” she added without elaboration.
Jimmy nodded in understanding.
“It’s good to have you home,” he agreed, then tilted his head toward the house. “Kristen’s inside. She can’t wait to see you.”
Kate beamed at the mention of Jimmy’s wife, one of her closest friends for years now.
“I can’t wait, either,” she said, just as Beau reached back toward his dad, making them both laugh. “Here, take your mini me. I’m gonna go finish my rounds,” she told him as her eyes flickered in search of the younger Hayes brother.
Jimmy retrieved his son and smirked down at her, his own eyes dancing.
“You do that,” he encouraged, teasing in his tone.
Kate rolled her eyes, but, just as Jimmy had anticipated, she headed straight toward the barbecue next, passing at least a dozen other people who had been waiting to see her.
“Hey, grill master,” she said, her hand gently coming to rest on Kevin’s back.
Her touch took him by surprise, and he nearly fumbled the tongs in his hands as he turned to greet her, his tall frame towering over hers.
“Hey, Katie girl,” he spoke, and Kate realized just how much she had missed that voice speaking those very words. She could only grin like an idiot.
Kevin pulled Kate in, his arms crushing her against his chest, and she hugged his waist as she felt his heartbeat against her ear.
“Missed you,” she said simply.
“Missed you, too, Kate,” Kevin said, his voice rumbling against her cheek. She pulled back to look up at him with a relieved sigh as he grinned at her.
And in that moment, she finally felt some of the contentment and peace she’d been searching for.
_____
Hours later, after the cookout lunch and the rehearsal dinner, when the attention-commanding nieces and nephews had long been put to bed, Kevin found Kate where he’d always found her on summer nights at the Cape — down at the boathouse, her feet dangling above the water, her short stature prohibiting them from actually being submerged.
“Fancy meetin’ you here,” he found himself saying — immediately followed by an internal monologue of, God, Kevin, why are you so fucking lame?
Despite his pathetic attempt at humor, Kate still smiled up at him.
“I knew you’d find me eventually,” she replied, letting her gaze drift back across the water.
Kevin hummed in response as he set down the pair of beers he’d brought and took a seat on the dock beside her.
“I’m surprised you’re not with the girls,” Kevin said. “They’re up there poppin’ bottles in the kitchen.”
She laughed softly at the thought. “Nah, just needed some time to think,” she told him.
Kevin nodded, knowing not to press any further if Kate wasn’t feeling forthcoming.
“Well, I come bearing beers,” he said, offering her one of the bottles.
With a grateful sigh, she murmured a “thank you,” and accepted the cold beverage. And that was just another item that fell somewhere in the middle of the long list of reasons why Kevin adored her — because she never needed champagne or an apple martini or a Mai Tai. A beer that matched his always suited her just fine.
Kevin was smiling at the thought, and when Kate caught him, he quickly saved face by lifting his bottle in the air.
“A toast,” he announced. “To Pat and Joelle.”
She nodded, lifting her beer toward his. “To Pat and Joelle,” she echoed, clinking the neck of her bottle against his. “Cheers.”
Kate took a long pull, looking back across the cape, and after a few silent moments, Kevin casually reached for her ankles and swept her legs atop his lap, his free hand resting on her shin. It certainly wasn’t anything unusual — anyone who knew Kate and Kevin and their relationship knew that they had always been affectionate with one another. (So much so, in fact, that on many occasions, Jimmy had muttered, “Jesus Christ, just fuck already.”) But it had been so long since he had initiated such a gesture that Kate would have been lying if she said her breath didn’t catch in her throat a little.
She sniffed and made work of picking at the label on her bottle, trying to act as cool and collected as possible.
“You look great, Katie,” Kevin eventually piped up, interrupting the silence and making Kate feel somehow more nervous and more at ease all at once. She tucked her chin to her chest with a breathy chuckle. “I mean it,” he added earnestly. “I should’ve said it before, but… anyway, just wanted to tell you now.”
She tilted her head up to look at him, and Kevin had to remind himself to breathe as she shot him her famous pursed-lipped smile, pushed to one side of her mouth.
“Thanks, Kev,” Kate said softly. “You do, too.”
“How’s work?” he asked, assuming that he’d be posing a simple, run-of-the-mill question, one that might lighten the mood and give his heart rate a chance to slow a bit.
But Kate snorted, lowering her bottle from her lips after a swig. “What work?” she asked cynically.
Kevin’s brows furrowed. “What do you mean?” he asked, confused.
She cleared her throat, turning to face the full moon instead of him. “The magazine shut down,” she finally admitted. “It’s been almost a month now, I guess.”
And for once in his life, Kevin was speechless.
Kate had started working for the small, independently-owned Pacific Northwest tourism magazine five years ago — the publication was the whole reason she’d moved to Seattle in the first place. She was so proud of her photography that was featured in each issue, and so was Kevin — though Kate didn’t know it, he had subscribed to the magazine after her first photo was featured in an issue early in her time on staff. And since the monthly magazines were mailed to his place in Philly and not in Dorchester, he realized that he would have had no way of knowing about the shutdown if it weren’t for Kate directly.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Kevin asked gently, concern evident in his tone.
She shrugged. “Not something I really felt like talking about this weekend,” she replied, rubbing her hands along her upper arms to warm them from the cool ocean breeze. “Not necessarily something I was all that proud of.”
Kevin’s heart sank. “But it isn’t your fault, Kate,” he said, squeezing her calves. “You didn’t have any control over the magazine going under.”
She heaved a sigh. “I know, but…” she began, tipping her head back wearily, “it just feels like everything’s crashing down around me in Seattle. Half a dozen of my friends have moved away in the last year, my freelance clients are dwindling seemingly by the day because everybody and their mother think they can be their own photographer, and now the magazine’s gone. It just feels like I’m failing at everything, Kev. Failing at life.”
“Hey,” Kevin said firmly — immediately. He nudged her chin with his thumb so that she was looking straight at him, those sea blue eyes of his suddenly the only thing she could focus on, as all of her self-doubt was washed away, even before he continued to speak. “You are not failing. You’re 28 years old. This is just a part of growing up, Kate,” he assured. “This shit happens to everyone. Remember when I got shipped to Winnipeg and then to Philly so quick? I went through the same shit. I felt like nobody wanted me, like I couldn’t do anything right. But it got better. It always does, Katie. Especially for people with as good a heart as you.”
Kate sniffled, wiping at a lone stray tear with her knuckle.
“Thanks, Kev,” she said softly, followed by a few more quiet sniffles. “You’re the best. Reasons why I love you,” she blurted out before she could stop herself.
Kevin’s brows lifted and his eyes widened as he looked at her, wondering if he’d just heard her correctly.
As with the physical touch, it had always been this way with Kate and Kevin when it came to their long-simmering feelings for one another. One of them would slip up and say some shit like “I love you” or “you’re so hot” or “come home with me,” and then try to play it off or walk it back, while the other person was left reeling, unsure of whether or not the other had truly meant what they’d said.
“I mean, you know, like I—”
“I love you, too, Kate,” Kevin said without hesitation, not walking anything back, interrupting Kate’s hopeless stuttering.
She glanced at him, taking a few chugging sips of her beer, and shook her head.
“No, you don’t,” she asserted flatly. “You’ve had a lot to drink. So have I. It’s a wedding weekend and we’re—”
“No, Kate,” Kevin insisted. “I mean it. I-I love you.”
And Kate suddenly felt really dizzy, like, really dizzy, and not because of the alcohol or the day she’d spent in the sweltering July sun. Dizzy like her best friend since diapers had just fully admitted that he love loved her in a manner far more sincere and more convincing than all those other times before.
“I… I gotta go to bed, Kev. Big day tomorrow,” Kate said abruptly. She drew a deep breath, swung her legs out from beneath Kevin’s hold, and pressed a quick kiss to his cheek before pushing herself up from the dock and heading for the steps. “‘Night.”
_____
“You did what?!” Jimmy asked on the golf course the next morning, coughing as he nearly choked, not because of his cigar smoke, but due to pure shock upon hearing his brother’s declaration.
“I told her I loved her,” Kevin said. “And she told me I was just drunk, and I told her I wasn’t, and then she went back to the house.”
“I think I need to lie down,” said Keith Yandle, Kate and Kevin’s mutual lifelong family friend, as he dramatically took a seat in the golf cart.
Jimmy stood slack-jawed in front of Kevin, waiting for more.
“And?!” he finally prompted.
Kevin shrugged. “And I haven’t talked to her all morning,” he said, earning groans from Jimmy, Keith, and Noel Acciari, another longtime member of the crew. “But I don’t regret it. And I’m bringing it up again tonight.”
“At her brother’s wedding? What, are you nuts?” Jimmy accused.
“No, that’s perfect,” Keith bellowed. “You know how girls get about weddings. All gooey and shit. Just get her a couple drinks at the reception. She’ll cop to loving your sorry ass, too. We all know she does. This has only been about three decades in the making.”
Kevin hated to admit it, but Keith was right, and he knew that Jimmy knew it, too, as Jimmy stood with his hands on his hips, sighing as he exhaled cigar smoke.
“Alright, fine,” Jimmy said, putting his hands up and rounding the golf cart to take the driver’s seat. “That’s not your worst idea ever, Yands. And you know what, Kev? I’m proud of ya. I wasn’t sure ya had it in ya.”
Kevin let out a singular chuckle and adjusted his golf hat.
“Neither was I.”
_____
“He said what?!” Kristen said loudly from the makeup chair as Kevin’s sister Justine squealed in the hair chair next to Kate’s.
“He told me he loved me,” Kate replied incredulously, still not convinced that last night was anything more than some fever dream. “Like, actually loved me. And I didn’t say it back. Because I’m an asshole.”
“No, you’re not,” Kristen assured firmly as Justine waved Kate off. “He caught you off guard, that’s all. You’ll have plenty of time this weekend to make it up to him,” she said, waggling her eyebrows.
Justine flung out an arm and squeezed Kate’s elbow.
“Wait, are you gonna say it back?” she asked in a sharp whisper.
Kate just pursed her lips, smiling crookedly.
_____
“Jesus fuck,” Kevin muttered as Kate walked into the narthex of the church to be lined up for the walk down the aisle. Noel elbowed him in the ribs.
“We’re in a church, bud,” Noel muttered. “You’re gonna get struck down, and I’m gonna be standing next to you when it happens.”
Kevin barely heard him as he watched Kate approach her brother, who let out a “wow” at her appearance and pulled her in for a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
Wow was putting it lightly. Her hair was left long and curled, save for a few pieces pinned back from her face, and she donned an elegant, v-neck, pale blue bridesmaid dress that appeared to have been designed just for her. Her makeup, though simple, was flawless, accentuating her strong features, making her hazel eyes, in particular, impossible not to notice.
Kevin had never seen Kate look more stunning in all his life. And that was saying something.
Kate turned toward the groomsmen next, her eyes immediately locking with Kevin’s, despite Jimmy’s wolf whistle and Noel’s “damn, Katie.”
She shot them both an eyeroll before refocusing on Kevin.
“Hi,” she said dumbly.
“Hi,” Kevin repeated. “You look beautiful, Kate. Perfect.”
There was that pushed-to-one-side, pouted-lip smile that made Kevin’s pulse race.
“Thanks, Kev,” she replied. “You look really handsome.”
Kevin gave her a grateful smile, then took a step closer to her.
“Can we talk later?” he asked, softly enough that he hoped no one else could hear and then subsequently give him shit for asking such a middle school question. His breath against her ear sent shivers through Kate, and his low tone made her mouth go dry.
She nodded, looking up at him doe-eyed and unable to form a single word. He nodded, too, and before she knew it, he was reaching for her hand, brushing a soft kiss against the top of it, and giving it a quick squeeze.
Kate didn’t have a chance to overanalyze his actions because the wedding planner quickly marched through the group, announcing that Patrick and his groomsmen needed to make their way to the altar for the start of the ceremony. Kate stepped forward to pull her older brother in for one last hug and a few whispered sentiments, then she smiled shyly at Kevin, smoothing her hand over his lapel as she passed, unaware of the knowing smile that Jimmy and Kristen shared watching the two of them.
_____
Back at her parents’ house for the reception, Kate was well on her way to a hangover for her flight back to Seattle tomorrow. Naturally, she’d been seated next to Kevin at the head table, and though the two of them hadn’t yet found time for an actual conversation, they each knew it was coming, which only increased the number of trips they’d both already made to the open bar.
After the meal, Pat and Joelle were invited to the dance floor in the middle of the yard, beneath twinkling string lights and the glow of the moon, and the strains of “Marry Me” by Train came over the sound system, filling the salty air with the peaceful guitar melody.
Kate’s jaw dropped just slightly, but enough for Kevin to take notice.
“That asshole,” she whispered.
Kevin held back a laugh at her reaction to this significant, romantic moment in her brother’s life.
“What?” he asked quietly.
“This is my wedding song,” she told Kevin incredulously, putting her hand to her chest. “I’ve said that since I was, like, in middle school. He knows that.”
Kevin wasn’t sure if it was the drinks or how breathtaking Kate looked or the feelings he’d long been pushing down finally bubbling over, now that he had let his little confession slip last night, but he suddenly heard himself say, “We can use it, too. Nobody’ll remember by then.”
Kate stiffened in her chair and snapped her head toward him.
“What?” it was her turn to whisper.
“Oh, come on, Kate,” Kevin said, sipping his whiskey casually. “Let’s not kid ourselves. That’ll be us up there someday.”
And there was that goddamn smile of hers again — Kevin knew she was trying so hard not to pull a full-on, megawatt grin, which was fine by him because he was perfectly happy with this version. Preferred it, actually.
She cleared her throat and shook her head.
“Don’t hold your breath, Kev,” Kate replied lightheartedly. But her tone was… less than convincing, some might say. Even less convincing was the way she almost imperceptibly leaned closer toward Kevin, whose arm rested loosely around the back of her chair.
And at that, Kevin smiled into his glass.
_____
Somehow, even in the midst of her own brother’s lively wedding reception, Kate still found her way to the boathouse. Kevin hadn’t even bothered to look for her elsewhere — once he noticed that she’d disappeared from the dance floor, he grabbed two Boston Lagers from the bar and headed for the dock.
She smirked when she heard his footsteps.
“Want some company?” he asked on his way down the wooden steps.
“Only if it’s you,” she replied, the flirtation evident in her tone.
Kevin smiled, pleased with that answer, and took his familiar spot next to her.
“Nice day, huh?” he asked, again pulling her legs across his lap before nudging the second beer into her hand.
“Really was,” Kate replied, clinking her bottle against Kevin’s for yet another toast.
They sat wordlessly for a few minutes, staring out at the water, listening to the laughs and chatter and music from the party up in the yard.
Eventually, Kevin cleared his throat, drawing Kate’s attention.
“Listen, Kate, about last night,” he began, but Kate’s anxiety spurred her to interrupt.
“No, it’s okay, Kev,” she said, shaking her head quickly. “You don’t have to explain—”
“No, I do,” Kevin insisted. “I-I don’t know if you’re getting it.”
She frowned. “Getting what?”
Kevin opened his mouth, looking into her eyes, then closed it again with a humorless chuckle.
“I meant it,” he finally said. “I said I loved you. And I meant it.”
Kate couldn’t break from his gaze despite the flipping sensation in her stomach, and despite the warmth creeping up her neck. The intensity of his stare was foreign to her — she was so used to happy, joking, jovial Kev, who never took anything too seriously. Even his earlier comment about their supposed future wedding reception had been tinged with sarcasm.
There was no ounce of him that was kidding now. That much Kate could see.
“You’re perfect for me, Kate,” Kevin continued. “You always have been.”
She blinked, tucking her loose waves behind her ear.
“Kev, I—”
“Wait, wait,” he laughed to himself, shaking his head before taking a long pull from his beer. “Listen, you gotta let me finish, because it took me this long to get this far. Okay?”
She nodded. He took a deep breath, his eyes fixed on hers.
“I love you, Kate,” Kevin said. “I love you in the worst way. The most real way. Not just some fleeting, fling-type shit. I mean, I want it all with you. Everything. The whole fuckin’ thing. Ring, wedding, babies in little ‘13’ jerseys. Nice house, a dog. Picket fuckin’ fence. I want what our parents have. And our siblings. You’re the only person I wanna share that with. Ever.”
Kate was crying now, blissfully unfazed that her mascara tears might stain her pretty makeup. Though, they didn’t, because before they could, Kevin’s thumbs had wiped them away, and after rubbing his fingers together, he smoothed his thumbs along her cheekbones.
“And I’ve always known it,” he continued. “But it took you going away and coming back for me to work up the balls to say it.”
Kate hadn’t flinched this whole time, Kevin noticed. In fact, her eyes grew brighter and her soft smile a bit more noticeable with each word he had spoken. But she had yet to utter a word. He studied her in anticipation.
“You gotta say something, Katie girl,” he said nervously. “I’m dyin’ here.”
But there was little left for her to say, she realized, and so instead, she leaned in, cupped Kevin’s neatly-bearded cheeks in her hands, and kissed him like she had never kissed a single soul before. And Kevin kissed her back, his relief evident in his tender touch, in the way he exhaled softly against her mouth.
As soon as Kate pulled her lips from his, hers curled into a breathless smile, and she leaned her forehead against his.
“I love you, too, Kevin Hayes,” she whispered, her fingers combing through the hair at the back of his head. “I’ve loved you since forever.”
“Be with me,” Kevin blurted, as if he actually needed to. “Like, officially. I wanna do this with you.”
She nuzzled her nose against his and circled her arms around his neck.
“Oh, we’re doin’ this,” Kate told him, beaming. She pressed a kiss between his brows and whispered, “Can’t get rid of me now.”
_____
Three summers later, in her parents’ yard on the Cape, Kate twirled around the dance floor to “Marry Me” by Train with a tall, reddish-brown-haired, blue-eyed boy from Dorchester, the very one she had loved since she was a little girl, long before she even fully understood what love was.
But now, Kate knew exactly what love was, because she knew Kevin.
Her newly dubbed husband leaned down to speak softly into her ear as her song continued to play.
“Remember that night we finally got together, when Pat and Joelle had their first dance here?” Kevin asked. “And I told you, ‘someday it’ll be us up there,’ and you told me not to hold my breath?”
Kate hid her face in his chest and felt her face warm, chuckling bashfully. Her recoiling only caused Kevin to hold her tighter and press a kiss to the top of her head. His thumb and forefinger found her chin and angled her face toward his.
“I’m glad I held my breath, Katie girl,” he said, his voice low.
Kate nodded, her eyes damp with unfallen tears. “I’m glad you did, too, Kev,” she said.

(images at the end)
Jungkook stood in the dressing room of a very fancy clothing store in Seoul, trying out suits. Why you may ask?
“Is everything okay in there?” called a woman outside of the curtains. Jungkook scrunched up his brows at the familiar voice. Pulling the curtains back, both persons were surprised to see one another.
“Jungkook?”
“Yuri?”
She scoffs at the sight of him, “why do you look so surprised? Didn’t you know I work here?” Jungkook shakes his head no.
“I thought you work at like an office or something… not a clothing store..” Jungkook turns towards the mirror and back at Yuri.
“What do you think?” he asks, turning around, showcasing himself.
“You look great,” she says with a straight face. “I’m obligated to say that.” Jungkook sighs.
“You’re still mad?” he asks, putting his hands in his pocket. Yuri gives him a face.
“What do you think? Your friends embarrassed us--”
“You’re embarrassed because you felt guilty.”
“Y-yeah.. but,” she sighs. “I’m sorry..” She mumbles. Jungkook’s smiles, turning his ear and leaning in to her.
“What was that? I couldn’t hear you,” he jokes.
“I.. am sorry.. for everything,” she says, much louder and clearer.
“It’s okay.”
“I’m sure the boys would want to apologize too.. if you want, you can join us for dinner tonight. Literally just eating, no alcohol, no parties, no nothing..”
“No alcohol? That’s different,” Jungkook says, tilting his head at her.
“Well..”
“Yuri!” Someone calls, running to Yuri’s side. Guessing it’s her coworker, considering they’re wearing matching uniforms. “I just got back from my break,” the woman says. “I got what you asked for,” she says, handing her a box.
“O-oh, thanks,” she says, hurriedly hiding the box behind her back. The woman then turns to Jungkook and he shyly waves at her.
“Oh I didn’t know you were assisting a customer, I’m so sorry sir,” she bows. “Go and take the test, I’ll take care of him.” Yuri’s eyes widens and she quickly shakes her head no.
“Test?” Jungkook says, looking at the woman, then at Yuri. He walks over to Yuri and grabs the box she was hiding from behind her.
“A pregnancy test?” he asks, he looks up at her and smiles. “Congrats.”
Yuri frowns at him. “Shut up,” she says. “It’s not for sure yet.. I’m just taking it just in case.”
“No wonder you’re canceling the drinking tonight,” he laughs.
“I mean, you guys can drink, I--”
“It’s okay, I won’t be able to go anyways. I’m going to Busan to propose to Yn,” Jungkook says casually, hence the suit shopping.
“O-oh.. congratulations,” Yuri says. “I’m happy for you two-- ah-- three I mean.”
“You know, I can already tell that this baby is going to change you for the better.”
“I’m not pregnant!” Yuri yells, her coworker’s eyes widens at her sudden loudness. “Sorry.. I mean.. I don’t know yet, but I’m not sure I’m ready so let’s not hope too much.”
“Well if you are… then your life’s about to start. And it’ll be better than whatever it is now,” Jungkook turns to the other woman next to her. “Speaking from experience,” he explains. “But anyways…” he checks the watch on his wrist, “I really have to go.. I have a long drive ahead of me. I’ll take this,” Jungkook says, pointing to the suit he’s wearing. “I don’t think it matters what I’m wearing.. But knowing my mom, she’s going to take lots and lots of pictures.”
-
A few hours later, Jungkook, in his new suit, finally got to Busan. His heart was beating out of his chest. He didn’t tell anyone that he was going here. Not his hyungs, noonas, not his mom, his dad, not your parents, not Sian, not you… obviously. It’s supposed to be a surprise, so why would he tell anyone?
Parking in your parent’s driveway, Jungkook grabbed Sian’s bunny ,who sat in the passenger’s seat, and the small box that contained the ring he’s proposing with. He kept that one in the cup holder for safe keeping.
“Our life’s about to begin.. again,” Jungkook says to himself, holding the ring to his chest. “I got this.” With that he got out of the car, putting the ring box in his pocket. He hopes you’ll be happy to see him and that you’re not busy right now. The last thing he wants to do is bother you.
Standing at the front door, Jungkook takes a deep breath. With one press of the doorbell, he leaned in to listen for Sian’s excited footsteps. Sian told him one facetime call ago that he runs to the door every time it rings hoping daddy’s visiting.
But instead he heard nothing.
He rings the bell again and this time he hears something. Not Sian, and not you, but your mom yelling, “Coming!”
In a matter of a few seconds, the door opens. Right when your mom sees Jungkook’s face, her smile drops.
“Jungkookah… w-what are you doing here? Why aren’t you in Seoul?” She asks in panic. Jungkook’s still smiling at her, ignoring the worrying questions she’s asking.
“Where’s Sian and Yn?” He asks, looking over her head.
“Ah..” she laughs awkwardly, “come in, come in sweetheart, I need to tell you something.”
Jungkook walks into their house, taking his shoes off at the door.
“Is Yn busy?” he asks, looking around. Your mom sits on the couch, pulling Jungkook down with her.
“Sweetie, they’re not home,” she says. “What are you doing here?.. And why are you wearing a suit?”
“They’re not? Well when are they coming back? I need to talk to Yn, I need to ask her a question,” Jungkook says, still not answering her question.
“They’re not coming back any time soon,” your mom laughs.
-
Your eyes widen as Sian releases a high pitch scream, along with a few other screams coming from inside your apartment. You know exactly who’s screams those were. The door was opened wider by Namjoon and you smile up at him.
“Hey Joo-- E-every.. One?” You say as everyone’s face comes into view. Your eyes scan the room and everyone seems to be in there… except for the one you were looking for.
“YES FREE COFFEE FOR. A. MONTH!” Byul yells, throwing her arms into the air. Yoongi rolls his eyes.
“Hi Yn,” Yoongi says, a little disappointed. You don’t know if you were hurt by that or what.
“Hey… Where’s Jungkook?” You ask, looking around. Suddenly, all of your nieces and nephews comes running out of Sian’s room, making Sian scream with joy once more.
“You’re back!” Soojin yells, running to hug Sian.
“My turn! My turn!” The two youngests yell, pushing Soojin out of the way.
“Looks like the babies missed Sian more than me?” you say, kneeling down to get some hugs too.
“Auntie Yn!” Huimang and Minseok yells, running into your arms.
“I missed you little munchkins,” you laugh, pressing kisses to their heads.
“I want some,” Bora says, coming to hug you as well. You laugh, standing up to hug her.
“Jungkook isn’t here,” Taehyung says, answering your previous question. You look up, confused.
“What?” you say as he comes and gives you a hug as well. “Is he coming back soon?”
Yoongi shrugs, “he didn’t say where he was going or if he was coming back. Just said he was leaving.”
“What?” you repeat. He left without saying anything?
-
“Honey, they’re in Seoul. They both miss you so much, Yn decided to go back and fix things with you,” she explains. Jungkook’s eyes widen, he gets up in a hurry.
“I have to go back then,” he says, heading for the door. Suddenly, the door opens and in walks your dad, along with Jungkook’s parents.
“Dad,” Jungkook says, seeing your dad’s face.
“Jungkook?” his mom says from behind. Jungkook turns to your mom and then back at his parents, and your dad.
“Why are you here?” his dad asks. Jungkook laughs.
“You know I thought you all would be more excited to see me,” he says. Instead of walking past them and to his car so that he can leave as fast as possible to see you, Jungkook turns around and sits back down with your mom.
“We are!” his mom says, “but Yn is back in Seoul! She left this morning to come and fix things with you.”
“I heard.. Like a minute ago,” he says. “And to answer your questions, I came here to propose to her.” Everyone’s eyes go wide.
“I know I haven’t talked to you all about this so while I’m here… I might as well ask for your blessing now. Right?”
-
Byul excitedly runs up to you, “Well we think he went to--”
*Ding Ding*
*Beep Beep*
*Ring Ring!*
You furrow your brows as everyone gets a text at once. You take out your phone to check yours, but nothing.
“What were you saying Byul?” You ask, getting back their attention.
“O-oh, I.. what was I saying?” she laughs nervously, slowly putting her phone down. Namjoon eyes her and you suddenly feel like they’re hiding something.
“Where do you guys think Kook went?” you ask, turning to everyone who seemed to be sucked into their phones suddenly.
“I..” Hoseok tilts his head to the side and shyly laughs. “We have no idea.. where he went.” Sarang rolls her eyes and you knew exactly what was happening. Everyone knew how bad Hoseok was at lying.
“O… kay..” you say. “Whatever then.” At that, they all go back to their phones and start texting. You let out a big sigh. “Hey, I’m back!” you yell out, waving your arms as everyone became texting zombies. “I spent the past weeks texting you all, do I have to do that still to get your attention??” With this, no one bothered to look up and you roll your eyes, about to go see what the kids were up to instead.
“Hey Yn?” Namjoon calls, you turn to him with a bright smile.
“Yes Joon?”
“You guys have no plants, Jungkook said to take care of them and we came here and you have no fresh oxygen in your house,” he says in a serious manner, crossing his arms over his chest.
“Oh.. we had a few,” you say, thinking of the ones Jungkook picked up a couple months ago.
“Where is it?” Namjoon asks, grabbing his spray bottle.
“Had,” you emphasized. It didn’t last long, Jungkook got three. You forgot to give yours water, Jungkook didn’t give his enough sunlight, and Sian over-watered his.
“We should go get some,” Namjoon suddenly says, walking up to you and grabbing your arm.
“Uhh.. Byul your boyfriend is kidnapping me,” you say, concerned.
“We’re going to go plant shopping,” Namjoon says, not bothering to turn around, instead he pulls you out the door along with him.
“Have fun!” Byul calls, again, glued to her phone.

You’re going to wish you were dead, instead.
Part 4 of T is for Trauma - The Series
Supercorp, Kara Danvers x Daughter!Reader, Lena Luthor x Daughter!Reader
Word count: 2370.
Warnings: kidnapping. Injuries. Next level angst.
Previously on the series – part 1, part 2, part 3
You open your eyes when someone kicks your stomach twice. You can’t control the vomit that comes right after, when your body finally understands that you’re up.
“Gross! Boss! The child threw up on my feet.” He walks away from you.
You want to appreciate that fact that you just did something to one of them, but everything hurts so much, like your skin is being peeled off of your body, that right now your only wish is that you could just die already so you don’t have to feel this unbearable pain anymore. Never in your worst nightmares, you’ve imagined you could feel so much pain you would wish you were dead instead.
“Stupid shit doesn’t die of over-exposure. It’s been hours! Maybe we should just shoot her, so she can bleed out to death.” One of them says and you pray they’re being serious.
“Please.” You plead. “End this.”
The boss kneels in front of you, with a creepy satisfied smile on his face. He looks behind him, to the other guys, and starts laughing like you just told the funniest joke in the world. His goons start laughing with him.
“I’m not going to end this. I wouldn’t want to stop all this fun you’re having!” He stands up, the same creepy smile still on his lips. “You know, you Kryptonians are funny. You act like Gods deciding everyone’s fate with some kind of morality no one even knows if you actually have. So, you’re ok with putting us through pain, but you can’t take any?”
“They are some weak Gods.” One of his henchmen says, and he looks back like he is telling him to shut up.
“Your world exploded for a reason. No kryptonian was supposed to survive. But then Supergirl and Superman came to Earth. Now, they are here dictating rules, expecting everyone to follow them. Who do they think they are? Those cockroaches.” He spits on the floor next to you, and you feel saliva hitting your face. “They’re not even supposed to exist, let alone procreate.”
“Then what are you waiting for?” You whimper, and he gives his maniac laughter again.
“I’ll do you a solid though, just because you’re just a little kid.” He raises a hand and quickly one of his goons puts a gun in his hand. He points at your leg. “I’ll make a little hole, to accelerate your dying process, ‘kay?” And he shoots your leg.
You scream as loud as you can, with all the strength still left in you. You thought you were already in so much pain because of the kryptonite, that this wouldn’t add up and you wouldn’t feel any more. You were wrong. The pain piled up on top of each other. So right now, the inside of your body is agonizing, your leg is burning and you’re bleeding out. Is this pain going to go on forever? It sure feels like it, because no matter how much you pray for it, you’re still not dead.
No, you’re not dead. You’re just lying there in your own vomit and blood, thinking about how much you want this nightmare to end, one way or another, when you hear gunshots. You close your eyes, thinking they’ve changed their minds and decided to shoot you multiple times to end your pain, but you don’t feel anything.
“Supergirl, I’ve been expecting you.” What? You open your eyes when you hear that. You can’t see her, the boss is in front of you with his body, but you get a glimpse of red and your heart beats faster. “As you can see, I have kryptonite and your daughter. Now, would you-”
“FUCK YOU!” She flies towards him with her closed fist, throwing him to the other side of the room. You can’t see him, but you know there’s no way he can recover fast from that. Kara kneels before you, and rips the chains with her hands, tossing the kryptonite to the other side of the room, like it doesn’t even affect her anymore. And if it does, it’s not as painful as seeing your situation.
You thought that once you were free of kryptonite, the pain would go away. It didn’t. Your body still feels like it is up in flames. Kara touches your face, you whimper. You can’t barely make up her face with your one functioning eye, but you see your pain reflected on her face.
She is still kneeling next to you, when she hears a noise coming from where she threw the guy. She blows her freeze breath, holding him back a little. Kara looks around, like she’s looking for something.
“I’ll be right back, my love. Ok? Momma is here.” She disappears right after, but comes back a few seconds later, hair blowing, and even though you didn’t see a thing, you know she just used her super speed.
“Mommy. I’m dying.” You whisper and Kara holds you up, carrying you in the most protective way she can.
“Shhh. You’re ok. Mommy is here. You’re ok.” Kara looks around again and you see aunt Alex going inside the room with the biggest gun you’ve ever seen. “He’s tied up in the corner.”
“J’onn and I got this. Take her to the DEO and put her under the sun light lamp, I’ll be there in a few.” Alex goes to the other side of the room, but you still can hear her. “Oh, you thought it was funny shooting my niece? I’ll show you funny!”
You don’t hear anything else. Kara is flying with you back to National City, and you look up to her. Hair flying in the wind, tears dropping from her eyes, she can’t take her eyes off you.
“I’m here. I’ve got you. You’re safe, baby.” She gives you the saddest smile you’ve ever seen.
“Mommy, I’m dying.” You repeat very slowly, because you don’t have any strength left to speak, and you know Kara can hear you either way. And you need her to know. She needs to know you’re probably not going to make it.
“No, you’re not. You’re ok. We’re going home, ok? We’re almost there. Mommy is here with you and your mom is waiting for you. You’re ok, baby.” Kara is crying so hard you barely make out what she’s saying.
“I’m sorry for what I said. I love you.”
“I love you, little one. I’m sorry. I love you. I love you. I’m sorry.” She keeps repeating that until you close your eyes. You can finally let go, you said everything. She knows you’re sorry, she knows you love her. So, you stop fighting the inevitable.
You thought you would die. You wished you had died. But you’re still here. You hear voices and you feel hands on your body. Someone’s touching your leg, it hurts like a bitch. Someone is squeezing your hand, it’s reassuring. Someone’s kissing your forehead over and over again, it’s calming.
You keep waking up and blacking out. But you don’t think they know this, because you can’t talk, can’t open your eyes, can’t move your body. All you can do is feel pain.
“Baby, my baby. I know you can do this. You can come back to us, please, please. I love you so much, babygirl. You’re my everything.”
“Mom, why isn’t she up yet? It’s been days! You said she would be awake by now.”
“Jamie, I-I don’t… She will wake up, honey. Just give her time, she needs to rest.”
“No. No, mom. She’s supposed to be up by now! Bring her back! Do something!”
“I’ve done everything I can, Jam. Come on, honey. Let’s go. Come.”
“Alex, there must be something else we can do.”
“Kara, you know how much I want her back too, I just- I’m sorry, it’s out of my hands now.”
“I wish I could switch places with her.”
“I know, Kar. I know. Go home, you’ve been in here for days. Go see Lena. Go be with your wife.”
You keep wishing you were dead. But you don’t die, and you also don’t come back to life. You’re half alive, and that’s not enough for anyone.
“Hey, little one.” You hear softly, and your heart beats fast. For the first time you feel you have enough strength to do something. You need to let her know you’re still alive. “I brought donuts, and your homework again.”
You try to ask for food, because you’re starving, but you can’t talk.
“I’ve been doing your homework for the past two weeks, and I have to say, I don’t know how you do this. It’s so much stuff, and you still find time to work on your inventions, and go to trainings…”
Yep, your life’s not as easy as it seems.
“Oooh, want to have a laugh? Your teacher sent me your physics homework yesterday and I obviously didn’t know anything, so I asked your mom for help and guess what? Apparently, Lena doesn’t know everything. It took her ten minutes to solve a problem. It was freaking hilarious.”
It sounds hilarious. You wish you were there.
“Hey. Was that a little laugh?” Kara asks and you try to smile again so she can see it. “I’ll tell Lena you laughed at her. Wait, no. I can’t do that, she’ll have hope.” She breathes heavily and your heart shrinks. “Shoot, I’m crying on your homework again. Your teacher will start wondering.”
You want to wake up so badly. You don’t know why your body doesn’t obey you. You’ve been in this bed under the sun for two weeks apparently. Is your body ever going to respond?
“Hold me.” You beg, trying to make your voice come out. It feels like you’re stuck in those nightmares where you feel like you’re screaming, but no one around hears anything. “Please.”
“Alex said we can take you home, with the lights and all. I’m scared, because I know that here, you’re being watched by doctors, but-” You feel her hand stroking your face gently. “I want you to be comfortable, and I want to lay in bed with you all day. So, should I? Should I take you home?”
YES. Please. Do it. Please. All you want is to go home.
“Yeah. I know. We shouldn’t move you too much. We don’t know what’s going on inside you, right? Besides-” You feel Kara’s warmth next to you. “I can lay in here with you, even though Alex tells me not to. We don’t have to tell her, right?” You feel Kara’s arms around and your eyes water immediately. “Baby, are you crying? Did I- Did I hurt you?” She moves away. “ALEX! ALEX! SHE’S CRYING. DO SOMETHING.”
There’s a weird taste on your mouth. Metallic and bitter. You need to get out of this bed, you need to go back to your life. And you feel it has to be now, or it will be never.
You open your eyes, slowly. It’s hard, it’s like they were glued together. It’s all blurry and undefined. You just see bright yellow, but it’s the first time you’re seeing some color in a while so you can’t complain about it.
“Baby! Kara, Alex! She’s awake!” You hear Lena’s voice and you see black and white mixed with the yellow. It’s probably her hair and face, but you can’t know for sure. There are no shapes, just colors. “Baby, baby, it’s ok. Mom is here.” Lena kisses your face and you feel hands on your body. There’s a very strong hand holding yours, and you know it’s Kara, because she is holding so hard it hurts. And you feel Alex’s hands touching your pulsing points.
“Hey, little one. Can you say something?” Kara asks and you open your mouth.
“My bones.” You whisper so slowly it’s pretty much inaudible; you’re sure only Kara can hear you, and only because of her super hearing.
“Oh, oh, sorry.” She stops squeezing your hand and kisses it, gently. “I forgot about the loss of powers.”
Wait, what?
“Ok, you two move away, please.” Now you see red, mixed with the yellow. “Hey kiddo, this is aunt Alex. Listen I have to do a few tests with you, ok? If you can hear me perfectly, blink once.” You blink once. “Perfect. You’re doing really well. Now, if you can see me perfectly, blink once.” You don’t blink. “Oh, ok. Is it blurry?” You blink once. “Ok, don’t worry, it will go back to normal with time. Now, I want you to move your left leg, just a little. Can you do that for me?” You do it.
She then makes you move every part of your body, and slowly but surely you do all that she asks. You hear Kara and Lena’s celebrations next to you and you smile proud of yourself.
“Hey kiddo, that was perfect! Next time you wake up, you will feel a lot better. I promise you.” You feel a squeeze in your hand, and you give her a little smile. “I don’t want you to get tired, so you can go back to sleep now, and we’ll work more later ok?”
“Wait.” You whisper and she puts her ear close to your mouth so she can hear you. “Lena.”
“She wants you.”
Lena takes Alex’ spot, holding your hand and putting her ear close to your face so she can hear you better.
“I’m sorry.”
“No, no baby, you don’t have anything to feel sorry for. Everything is alright. Listen.” You feel Lena wiping the tears from your cheeks. “You were right. I’m sorry I made you feel like you’re not the most important thing in the world for me, because you are. You are. Stop-stop worrying about it. Just use everything you have to recover, ok?” You nod weakly. “I love you.”
“We love you.” You hear Kara’s voice and you breathe deep.
“Mommy.” Your voice comes out a little stronger, but it is still just a whisper.
“Mommy is here, little one. I’ve got you. We’ve got you.” Kara says and you close your eyes again. Your body might still ache, but your heart doesn’t ache anymore.

Every couple of minutes, Liam would wander into his bedroom and peek at his wife taking a nap. After he was satisfied that Ella was getting some rest, he would make his way outside onto the large balcony connected to their quarters.
“Why do you keep going over there to stare at her?” Drake asked as he flipped a burger on the grill.
“I don’t stare,” Liam bent down to pick up Malia and kissed her cheek.
“Daddy was looking at Mommy!”
“Smart kid,” Drake kissed the hand that his niece offered to him and she squealed in delight. “You hungry Lia?”
Malia raised her arms in the air. “I want pizza, Unka Dwake!”
Drake furrowed his brow and stuck out his bottom lip in pretend hurt. “Not burgers?”
“Party is hereeeeee!” Maxwell barged onto the balcony with bags in his arms. Olivia followed him out with a disdained look on her face.
“You’re always so … cheerful,” she brushed an invisible piece of lint from her red shirt.
“Auntie Liiiiiv!” Malia screeched and squirmed in her father’s arms until he put her down.
Drake nodded toward Olivia and Malia, now chattering away about how Lia wanted red hair like her favorite aunt. “That’s the woman’s way, Li,” he added slices of cheese to the almost cooked meat patties. “They abandon you when someone else catches their attention.”
Liam cringed when he heard Olivia tell his daughter she would dye her hair red when Lia was older. “Okay, I’m going to … check on Ella.”
“You don’t stare my ass,” Drake mumbled as he shook his head.
Liam walked towards his bedroom just like he had every ten minutes for the last hour. He peeked through the door that was cracked open and saw Ella drinking the tea he brought her a little bit ago. He pushed the door open all the way and shoved his hands in the pockets of his green sweater. “Love? You’re supposed to be resting.”
“I am resting, and drinking tea,” Ella lifted her mug in the air with a smile. “What kind is this?”
Liam bit his bottom lip as he let his eyes rove over her. Her pajama shirt hung off one shoulder, exposing her soft skin and her hair was tousled from sleep. The white bandage wrapped around her head contrasted her bronze skin. "I knew you wouldn't go to sleep willingly, so I brought you some chamomile tea and a blanket. Twenty minutes of shut-eye, okay?"
Ella pouted. “I slept already.”
“That wasn’t even an hour!”
She rolled her eyes. “Well, maybe if my husband wasn’t opening and closing the door every ten minutes, staring at me, I’d be able to sleep longer.”
Liam walked into the large bedroom and sat across from his wife with a stern expression. “You fainted walking around downtown,” he clenched his jaw at the memory. “You hit your head on the concrete and have a concussion. Youve been doing entirely too much, Ella.”
She flinched at him saying her name. He must be really mad. “I was just-”
“Doing too much,” he finished for her. “You’re going to rest and you’re not going to do a damn thing until you’re cleared by the doctor.”
“He cleared me!”
Liam arched his brow at her. “He said don’t overdo it, don’t overexert yourself or do any exercise. Which is the entire reason why we aren’t having sex!”
“That was your doing not mine,” she mumbled and he narrowed his eyes in response.
“Love, you scared the shit out of all of us,” he took her small hands in his and ran his thumbs over her knuckles. “Maxwell wouldn’t stop screaming on the phone and Drake had to carry you to the ER. Even Olivia, of all people, was trembling when I got to the hospital! I thought you had died.”
“But I … I’m …” Ella reached up and felt her bandage, remembering part of that day, the blood, the screams, then someone lifting her easily and running. To where she had no idea. Then, everything went black. Ella was diagnosed with Graves’ Disease which meant her heart rate was always too high and she lost weight at an alarming rate. When she does too much, she notices she gets really short of breath and dizzy. She never told Liam about it because Lord knows what he would put in place so she didn’t go anywhere alone. Her fainting just ruined everything and now he was acutely aware of all of her symptoms.
Liam walking back and forth to check on her to make sure she didn’t die in her sleep was something she should have expected. Add on the fact that she was six weeks pregnant, and that equals super protective Liam. He wasn’t there with them downtown, he was at the palace in a meeting with the French ambassador. He’s never going to let me go anywhere by myself again. “Okay,” she whispered.
Liam cupped her cheeks with his hands. “Please,” he whispered back. “I need you, our daughter needs you, our friends, our little one ...” he looked down at her abdomen and back up to her face. “Just, stay here and rest.”
Ella nodded. “Promise. Now, what’s that?” She pointed to a large pink bag behind him by one of the closet doors.
Liam turned and followed her finger, then turned back to face her. “Oh! I found this in the mall, I figured it might be something you like.”
Her eyes widened in surprise. “You … went to the mall?”
“Drake wanted to get some high-powered thing for the BBQ grill, Max and I tagged along. Each store has a theme?” Liam gave her a confused look. “Is that the rule? Because some stores had random things that didn’t make sense. Why did book store have candy in them?”
“Those are … questions for another time, sweetie,” Ella cackled. “Can I have my gift now?”
Liam stood to grab the bag and set it on the bed in between them. Ella pulled out all the pink tissue paper and reached in to pull out a stuffed animal. “Ohmigod!” She squished it against her chest in a hug. “It’s Grogu!”
“After we watched The Mandalorian I wanted to get something for you,” he pressed his finger to her nose. “Boop!”
“Mommy!” Malia ran in and hugged Ella. “Wow! Pretty, mine!” She pulled Grogu into her arms and walked out into the hall, yelling for Uncle Max.
“What … just happened?” Ella looked from the door to her husband, who was trying his best not to laugh.
“Our daughter is just like you, taking everything that isn’t hers.”
Ella shrugged. “What wasn’t mine that I took, Your Majesty?”
Liam counted out everything on his fingers. “My sweaters, shirts, basketball shorts? Ring a bell?”
“What’s yours is mine …” she prompted, waiting for him to finish the sentence.
He rolled his eyes. “And what’s mine is yours. Fine, you win. I love you.”
“I know,” Ella grinned.
“A Star Wars reference? I see what you did there. Okay, my turn,” he cleared his throat. “I love you … to infinity and beyond!” He smirked, thinking he won until Ella let out a loud laugh.
“That’s Toy Story, not Star Wars!”
“Oh shit,” Liam shrugged. “Well, same difference.”

Out Of Time ~ 136
MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
< previous chapter
Word Count: 2,000ish
Summary: The pregnancy continues. Y/N spends time with Steve. (Read the note at the end of the chapter.)
Warning: car accident
Tumblr media
Week 22 was full of compliments from Tony about how Y/N had never looked more beautiful. Her stomach began to get dry and irritated. This led to Tony spending a lot of time rubbing lotion on the baby bump while talking to Morgan.
Week 23 came with worsening symptoms: leg cramps, pregnancy brain, backaches, constipation, and headaches. Y/N was very grateful that Tony was a constant and so very caring. She honestly didn’t know what she would have done without him.
Weeks 24 and 25: Y/N’s sex drive had died, which disappointed the both of them. Tony knew and respected Y/N to know not to push. Her hands also began tingling, which apparently was normal.
Week 26: sleep was definitely not Y/N’s friend. Leg cramps, frequent urination, anxiety, and Morgan’s kicking made it nearly impossible. Tony felt awful, unable to find anyway for Y/N to get rest. A few times, late night drives worked or Tony taking to the bump, but that was few and far between. This left Y/N exhausted and crabby.
Week 27 began with an exhausted Y/N and an intensely worried Tony. They were in the city for Tony to go to a few Stark Industry meetings and so that Y/N could spend some time with Steve.
“Are you sure you’re going to be okay down here alone until Rogers comes and picks you up?” Tony was worrying over Y/N. But he was also worried that, if he was any later to the meeting, Pepper would literally murder him.
“I’ll be fine,” Y/N replied, swatting away Tony from the chair she was in. “I love you. Now go.”
Tony pecked her lips. “Love you girls too.” He started hurrying away. “Make sure to take it easy! Let me know if you need anything!”
“Yeah, yeah,” Y/N muttered, waving at Tony.
As Y/N tried to find a comfortable position in the chair, she could feel something was off. Looking around, no one appeared off. She checked around a few more times before just chalking it up to that half the world had disappeared. Steve arrived lot long later and went inside to meet her.
“Hey, Y/N/N,” he greeted with a smile. “Wow.” He checked her over. “That baby’s really growing.”
“She is,” Y/N responded, smiling softly as she rubbed her belly. “Somedays I can’t believe it and others I just want her out.”
Steve reached his hands out to help his sister out of the chair. She put her hands in his. “My favorite niece giving my sister trouble?”
“Your favorite niece doesn’t let me sleep.” Steve pulled her up, keeping a hold of her while she tried to balance. “It’s kind of getting on my nerves.”
“Maybe her uncle can talk some sense into her today.”
“Please, she’s stopped listening to her father.”
Steve led her out and helped her into the car. Getting in himself, he began the drive to Brooklyn.
“So, I was thinking that we could eat lunch at this diner that’s opened back up in Brooklyn,” Steve suggested. “Then maybe visit the cemetery, visit the parents and AJ?”
“That all sounds wonderful, Stevie,” Y/N responded. “Morgan makes me hungry all the time, so sorry if I spend all your money.”
“Whatever makes my niece, and my sister, happy.”
~~~
Y/N was so picky yet ordered most of the menu. Steve ordered one small thing, thinking to himself that he’d finish up whatever Y/N didn’t. As they waited for their food, Y/N couldn’t help  but feel something was off again. She looked around again. Y/N could tell that the other people in there were trying not to stare at the former Avengers, trying not to glare. Studying her surroundings like she was taught, her fingers were anxiously tapping against the table.
“Hey,” Steve called out to her. “You okay?”
“Yeah… Yeah, I’m fine,” Y/N said, swallowing. “It’s just… People hate us. And I don’t blame them. We didn’t protect them like we always sworn to do.”
“Y/N,” Steve reached across and grabbed her hand. “We can’t control them and their thoughts and actions. Only our own.”
“And if they don’t move on?”
Steve sighed. “Then we don’t either.”
~~~
“So, how’s wedding planning coming?” Steve asked once the food arrived.
“Currently, it’s not moving much,” Y/N answered. “I just am exhausted all the time and I can’t even think about trying on a dress right now. I’ve mainly just created several Pinterest boards and such.”
“Well, you two are not in any rush, especially since you’re waiting for little Mo to come.”
“Little Mo?” Y/N giggled. “Is that what you’re going to call her?”
“I figured that, as the uncle, I needed a nickname for my niece.”
“You and Tony can’t just wait for her to come?”
“But it’s still too long of a wait. Like, how many more weeks?”
“I’m week 27 currently, so… I think I technically have 15 more weeks. Ugh, that’s too long! Don’t get me wrong, I have loved growing my daughter inside of me, but I’m tired of it and just want her here.”
“She’ll be here so enough and causing all sorts of problems then too.”
“I guess you’re right… She’s not going to let me sleep for years.”
“Good thing you won’t be doing this alone. You have Tony, Happy, Rhodey, Nat, Pepper, and, like always, you’ll have me.”
“Thanks Stevie. Means a lot.”
~~~
“I bought some flowers, they’re at my place,” Steve stated as they drove away from the diner. “Can we stop there and I can run in and grab them?”
“Of course, Stevie,” Y/N answered. “You mind if I just stay in the car? I’m getting tired.”
“It’s no problem. I’ll be quick.”
“It’s too bad though. I’ve never seen your new place.”
“And I haven’t seen yours.”
“I’ll convince Tony and we’ll have you over soon. Or I’ll convince him to leave and sneak you over. That probably won’t happen until Morgan’s here though. He barely let me do this.”
“He’s just scared and he cares. It’s who Tony is.”
“Yeah, I know. It’s one of the reasons why I love him.”
“I am happy for you. Even after all that’s happened.”
“Thanks, Stevie. I hope that one day you can find something that makes you happy as well.”
Steve shot a tight-lipped smile at his sister before pulling off to the side and parking. He rolled down the windows a bit, pulled out his keys, and opened his door.
“I won’t be long,” he said, heading out the door.
“And I’ll just me here,” Y/N responded.
She sighed, leaning back the seat. Taking off her seatbelt, Y/N closed her eyes and rubbed her baby bump. She was so tired and just wanted to rest, though nothing was allowing her to. Then again, Y/N felt like something was off. Her eyes opened and she began to scan the area. Something was not right, and hadn’t been all day. Sitting up straighter, as much as she could, her breath started quickening. Not able to see anything in front of her, Y/N checked the review mirror. She gasped just before a black suv came barreling into Steve’s car.
Y/N was thrown into the dashboard, causing her to cry out. Steve’s car crashed into the car in front of it. The black suv backed up slightly before ramming into Steve’s car again. This time Y/N’s head it the windshield, cracking it. She screamed.
“P-Pl-Please!” She screamed. “My baby!”
As the black suv backed up again, another one barreled in from the side. This crashed Steve’s car into a lamppost. The window next to Y/N shattered all over her. Her vision was fuzzy from her head’s impact with the windshield and she could tell she had begun bleeding in placed because of the shattered windows.
“Because of you, my family is gone!” She heard someone shout from outside the car. “Because of you have the world is gone!”
“Please! Stop!” Y/N screamed. “Please! I’m pregnant!”
“I’m sure others were as well when they turned to ash!”
Tears were soaking Y/N’s cheeks as she tired to get out of the car. But her door was crushed into the lamppost. Her heart and head were pounding as both cars came at her again. She screamed in agony as something impaled her leg.
“More of you should have died after failing to protect us!” The voice outside the car continued.
The black suv to her side rammed into Steve’s car again, effectively knocking her out cold.
~~~
Steve was whistling as he hurried down the stairs with the flowers. There were two boutiques, one for his parents and one for his nephew. As he exited his building, he froze. His car was totaled and two black suv’s were speeding away.
“Y/N,” he gasped. “Y/N!”
He ran to the car. Y/N was clearly unconscious, leaning against her crushed door. Steve quickly looked over her. She was bleeding, everywhere. Which was terrifying him. Looking for a way to get his sister out, he realized her door was crushed shut and stuck because of the lamppost.
“Y/N, Y/N,” Steve called. “Please answer me. Wake up and answer me.”
When he didn’t get a response, he began to tear things off the car. He needed to get to Y/N, needed to get her out of there before it was too late.
“Mr. Rogers!” An old woman came rushing out of no where. “I’ve called 911! They’re on their way.”
“Thank you, ma’am.” He ripped away the back door, finally.
“They said to wait for them to get her out.”
“Can’t do that. She’s my sister and she’s pregnant.” The sirens were then heard coming towards them.
“Please, Mr. Rogers, they’re almost here. You don’t know what damage you can cause.”
Huffing Steve reached through the shattered window to touch Y/N’s skin. “Stay with me, Y/N. Stay with me.”
~~~
“Where is Y/N?! WHERE IS SHE?!” Steve was sure that Tony’s panic could be heard throughout the whole city. Steve was sitting in the waiting room, head in his hands, as Tony, Happy, and Pepper came running in. “Rogers! Where is Y/N?”
Steve looked up, revealing his puffy red eyes and tear stained cheeks. “She’s—Y/N’s in surgery,” he replied, voice breaking.
“What?! How is she? How’s the baby?”
“She’s— they— I’m so sorry, Tony…”
“Rogers,” Tony growled. “Tell me what—“
“Mr. Stark,” a man called, coming out in scrubs. “I was told you’d arrived. I’m one of the doctors on your fiancé’s case.”
“How is she?” Tony turned to the doctor. “How’s the baby?”
“I’m afraid Miss Rogers was brought in with serious injuries. She was bleeding, quite a lot, and had a serious head injury. The baby was also in clear distress.”
“Clear distress?”
“We had to do an emergency c-section to deliver your baby. She’s currently in surgery as well.” Tony stumbled back, Happy steadying him. “They’re both in critical condition and still have quite a few hours of surgery ahead of us. I’ll keep you updated.”
“Thank you,” Pepper said, as the doctor left.
“Tony, let’s sit you down,” Happy said, guiding Tony down into a seat across from Steve.
“What… happened…?” Tony panted. “I thought you were with her?”
“I needed to grab something, Tony,” Steve responded, clearly feeling all the guilt. “I didn’t think that it would be an issue… I came down from my apartment to see my car completely wrecked against the car in front of it and the lamppost beside it… two black suv’s were speeding away. I didn’t get a good look at them.”
“I can’t— I can’t lose them…”
“I know.”
“If I do… I’m blaming you.”
“Don’t worry, Tony. I’m already blaming myself.”
next chapter >
I leave for Disney World this week. It is the last big family vacation that I will be on for a while. Because of that, I will not be on tumblr March 19th through March 24th. I will actually be deleting the app so that it’s not a distraction.
Most likely, nothing will be posted during that time. If something is, it will have been queued up. Things that are posted while I’m out of town will not have tag lists attached. I will put this note in all the fic posts until then.
So do not come at me for spending time with my family instead of including the tag list. (I say that knowing that people won’t care and still come at me…. be respectful and get over yourself.)
Check out the 2 ending chapter titles and possible banners here.
Also, I will be taking all of April off for job hunting and such. Please be kind and understanding. This is important to me.
If you want to be added to the tag list, please dm me or send in an ask.
a perfect mix
hi! I had this idea and decided to write it for @tbslenthusiast ‘s dadathon enjoy!
                                             𐄁𐄙𐄁𐄙𐄁𐄙𐄁𐄙𐄁𐄙𐄁𐄙𐄁𐄙𐄁
“Look Bub, she’s so pretty” you say sniffling, her tiny hand wrapped around your finger.
“I know love, the perfect mix of me and you, thankfully more of you,” he said laughing breathily. He stood against the hospital bed, one arm wrapped around your shoulders, and the other–just his finger, though– used to graze her puffy, blotchy cheeks.
She had just been cleaned, now wrapped in the pink hospital blanket and a cute beanie wrapped around her head.
“Shut up,” you laugh. “Look!” you whisper. “Her eyes, they're a mix of green and brown”
“See a perfect mix of us” he replied nudging your shoulder, looking at you, and lifting his finger that was on Bub’s cheek to wipe away the happy tears at the corner of your eyes. “I’m so proud of you, you really went through it back there,”
You smiled shyly at his praise, puckering your lips for a kiss which he delivered gleefully. “I'm proud of you too.”
“What’d I do? All I did was throw a few ropes in.”
“H! You can't talk like that,” he laughs at your astonished look. “If you must know, your hand really went through the ringer.”
“Oh that, that was nothing,” he says shrugging his shoulders, his lips pursing in faux confidence.
“Baby...You asked me to go easy on you,” you said laughing as his face dropped.
“Well ‘m sorry, your grip is so tight, pretty sure I would've lost circulation at some point”
You had tears rolling down your face and neck and sweat piling all over you, as you squeezed the ever daylight of Harry's hand.
“I hate you so much Harry Styles, look what you did to me” you cried, flinging your head back.
“I know, know I promise you can use this over my head for the rest of our lives” his face cringing at the sound of your tears and screams, while blotting your forehead with a cloth “but you have to keep pushing, love.”
“Okay” you whined. “harry you said ‘ours’” you cried, trying with all your might to get the baby out of you.
“Are you guys ready for the rest of the family to join you?” the nurse asked, extinguishing the duo, of their baby induced trance.
Harry angled his head a bit to anticipate your answer, you nodded in return. “Yea we’re ready,” he answered, smiling at the nurse, who left the room to rally everyone in.
He looked down again at his little family, “you ready to meet your family, my sweet little girl,” he cooed, descending his head to set a light kiss to her puffy cheek at the moment she decided to yawn eliciting a laugh from you and Harry.
In that moment you heard the door opening. Anne, your mom, Gemma, your dad, Jeff, and Glenne walked through the door with an array of pink balloons and flowers.
“Hi!” you greeted cheerfully at everyone.
Harry walked away to hug whoever he could, rotating with whoever came to the bed to gently hug you.
“I'm so proud of the two of you, look how cute she is,” your mom said sniffling bringing her finger up to the tip of her nose, pulling your head into her chest gently and placing a kiss to your forehead.
“congratulations, darlings” Anne said, hugging harry again and also placing a kiss to your forehead.
“thank you mum” “thank you mom” you and harry repeated at the same time.
You could see the pair of grandmothers trying to hold back their tears of joys and so could Harry as he released a playful groan with a “great now the mums are crying.”
“H, hush,” you say, laughing briefly.
“look how cute you all look, gather in for a picture” Gemma said pulling out Harry’s camera that he insisted on packing in the baby’s bag of all places.
Your mom stood to your left leaning and Harry doing the same on your right, however, and Anne stood next to her second-born. Everyone leaning into the middle and smiling the for picture.
“say cheese!” Gemma said.
                                                             -
You and Harry were shuffling around the hospital room, gathering everything you needed to go home.
“Make sure to grab all the baby formula and stuff you see” you yell over to Harry while you tried picking the baby’s going home outfit, leave it to your indecisive self to change your mind last minute.
“Harry, the pink or brown?” you asked turning around to present him the two footies.
“I like the pink better.”
“Brown it is” you say looking over the cute brown, bear like footie.
“Heyyy!” Harry dragged out, tossing a diaper to the back of your head.
Once you were finished, you raised her up murmuring how cute she looked. Kissing both her cheeks religiously. “You’re such the perfect mix y’know, look how cute you are, you smell good too,” you say kissing her lips lastly, before setting her in her car seat.
Harry walked over to both of you, winding an arm around your waist, kissing your cheek.
“Ew, Harry, that was wet,” you say, turning to bite his cheek in return.
“I’m sorry these are the people you’re being raised by, muffin,” Harry says leaning down to kiss her.
You flick him in the back of his head, his hand raising to touch the spot. “ready to go?” he asked.
You nodded, mumbling an mhm. You outstretched your hand out to grasp the handle of the seat, until a quick slap was directed to your hand.
“babe?!” you express, looking at him bewildered.
“you just gave birth, you absolutely think ‘m gonna let you carry the carseat,” he answers, voice filled with false offense, mumbling something along the lines of ‘out of her mind’ talking to the baby exactly.
“ok, well can I carry th-”
“No. Ready to go home?” reaching his thumb to massage away the furrow of your eyebrows.
“Yes”, you sigh, reaching up to kiss his cheek “Thank you for looking out for me.”
“Just one of my many jobs,” he replies, hauling you in for a kiss. The baby bag on his shoulder and the baby in his opposite hand, all while his free hand embraced one of yours as you both trailed down the hallway.
You were meant to walk through the front entrance of the hospital, but it didn't seem that was happening.
“christ” Harry hissed, his jaw clenched in utter annoyance.
“What is it? H?” you asked tugging his hand.
“Think someone told the paps we were here, its fine don’t worry, we’ll just go through the back,” he said, towing you both to the desk to hopefully sort out the mess.
                                                             -
“meet your new home Miss Styles,” you whispered crouching in front of the car seat, taking her out.
“lovie, look at this cute set, Alessandro sent,” Harry said in excitement from the living room.
When the three of you first walked into the room, you were met with an abundance of flowers, balloons, sweets, and gifts splayed-out all over the living room and some lingering by the hallway where the front door was. What you could only assume was brought in by his assistant.
The night before you were supposed to give birth to the baby– laying in the hospital bed on your side, while Harry spooned you from behind, one hand rubbing your back and the other your belly – you both stayed up texting whoever you needed to tell them the good news.
You walked into the living room, sitting next to Harry (who still secured the box of clothes in his lap.)
“Look at these shoes, oh!, They match my Brit Award ones from 2020″ he said grinning ear to ear, holding the pair up.
“They even have her initials on the sides” you fell about happily.
“I know! We’ll have to thank him later,” he said placing them gently back in the box and the box to the floor. He laid back against the couch, holding his arms out awaiting you.
You scuttled back gently, the baby still in your arms, until you were curled up into Harry’s chest – your back to his. He bounded both his arms over your shoulders, leaning his chin on your shoulder to view the bundle in nestled in your arms.
“I can't believe we’re really parents,”he mumbled, turning his head to kiss your neck.
“I know, and this isn’t a temporary thing like our nieces and nephews,” you replied, a smile on your face.
“We’re doing this every single day”
You all sat quietly in the living room, his record playing A Sunday Kind of Love in the background. The Idyllic feeling was all over the room, Harry singing along to the song lowly by your ear, rocking the three of you slowly. You couldn’t believe it even though she was in your arms right now, jostling her head a little...uh oh.
...Before long a loud shrieking sound emitted from her small body, her hands in fists rising up to her chest.
“Yep. Every day” Harry said, sighing as her cries only got louder.
navigation | requests : open | 3rd feb 2021
Tumblr media
pairing : bakugou x gn!reader
genre : angst, fluff lots of fluff i promise
word count : 3.8k+
warnings : season 3 spoilers, blood, injuries, gore, knives, fire
themes : angst with a happy ending, kidnapping, injuries, worry, mutual pining
request : hiii so my idea was like a bakugou x reader (reader is kacchan's s/o) kinda storyline but the reader is like aizawa's daughter figure?? not necessarily by blood but like as a student she would always stay behind and make tea for aizawa and like just accompany him to not be lonely?? maybe?? idk something like that ANYWAYS we all know that bakugou gets kidnapped by the LOV so what if the reader saves him and reader gets taken instead so like how would bakugou and aizawa react or do when they see reader getting warped right in front of them? LOL HDKSLAMA does it make sense like hfkslala yeah idk but that was my idea hope you like it enough to write it<3 - 🐰anon
note : here’s me typing this out for the second time bc i’m stupid <3, by the way in this fic they’ve lived at the dorms since the USJ!
Tumblr media
being the niece of a pro-hero isn’t easy, since he isn’t very popular you didn’t worry too much about press but when you’re trying to get coffee together no one can deny the resemblance, people put two and two together. you lived with your uncle, also know as eraser-head by the media, since your parents weren’t really around anymore he took you in and looked after you, your uncle doesn’t show a lot of emotion but he has admitted that it’s nice not being alone all the time.
after first starting UA you noticed a certain boy a lot more, especially when you trained together, having a crush on someone was difficult especially when they’re your classmate and when that said classmate also falls for you? it made it harder to sneak glances and kisses inbetween class, despite you knowing your uncle won’t really care you both wanted to keep it a secret from everyone for as long as possible.
it wasn’t that you’re afraid of your uncle finding out but you’d rather your relationship be your own for now, that was until you were playing video games in the dorms with your boyfriend who’s head was in your lap not thinking anyone would walk in through the front door since everyone’s asleep and aizawa doesn’t visit often, he wouldn’t have thought much of it but your boyfriend, katsuki bakugou isn’t one for pda.. not from just anyone so he just put two and two together asking you when you went to the staff office as usual, ‘y/n are you and bakugou dating’ he said with his normal toneless voice, knowing it’s best not to lie you nodded, ‘hm’ and that was all he said about it, which is a good thing because when aizawa didn’t like something he’d say a bit more. everyone else found out when you both tried sneaking a kiss before class, kirishima noticed bakugou left early for class so he went after him, when he caught up and saw him holding your waist and jaw he smiled yelling ‘FINALLY’ and that’s how everyone else found out, when everyone found out about you being aizawa’s niece you were surprised that more people didn’t know, bakugou noticed you going to the staff room a lot and how you left at the same time as aizawa so when he found out that you’re related he made sure to tred a little softer around your uncle, noticing the similarities between your quirks, your quirks are both mind quirks so it made sense.
after months of dating you never regretted saying yes to the ashe blonde, not once. of course you both had rough spots like any other couple but you talked it out, however long it took, bakugou’s willingness to talk to you and comfort you made you feel special and loved, it’s not easy for him but he’s learnt to trust you more and more as time went on slowly bringing down his walls for you.
you looked out the window of the bus at the beautiful scenery as he watched you ‘dumbass, there’s a prettier view here’ he joked making you snort ‘mhm’ he huffed in annoyance before you brought out the doe eyes rubbing your head into his shoulder ‘you’re a very pretty view’ you pout as he smirked, ‘fuck yeah i am’ you kiss his cheek as you laughed at his antics, it was time for the training camp you had all talked about for months, when aizawa brought it up everyone went wild, until a couple of class 1A whined because they had to do extra work since they failed the exams. aizawa told you about the pussy cats and to make sure to use this training camp to your full advantage since it’s only a couple weeks.
as soon as you got out of the bus the ground beneath you shook making you all scream as the pussy cats that just introduced themselves to you told you to get to the campsite as fast as you can, you stood up from the fall, groaning you helped up mina, uraraka and your friend kendo from class b, you looked around to see where the blonde was, noticing him you sighed relieved until you heard denki say ‘what the fuck is that’ you all peered through the trees to see a big creatures that looked like they were made out of...sand?
not wasting any time you pulled yourself into the air with just enough power so you were now standing in front of the sand creature you heard some of your friends scream at you, holding your hand out pointing at the creature you flicked your wrist snapping it’s neck in an instant, some people praised you as you felt bakugou’s breath on your ear as he quickly whispered ‘that was hot’ before running in front of you going after another of the creatures, giggling you ran after them. one of the reasons bakugou fell for you was because you didn’t hesitate when it came to fighting something in your way, when you got attacked at the usj he noticed this, the way you protected your friends first. as you all climbed through the forest you stuck with midoriya and todoroki, ‘y/n jump!!’ you looked to the side of you to see a sand creature coming straight for you guys, you did as todoroki told you, he blasted the sand creature with his ice, freezing it and letting midoriya smash it into small particles. you all ran through the forest as light started to hit your face, more light shining through as you got closer to the camp. finally at the camp you all panted while sat on the floor, you looked up as todoroki walked back over to you and midoriya handing you both water bottles, ‘thank you todoroki’ you smiled as you chugged the water down soothing your dry throat and warmth.
once you all got cleaned up and the pussy cats explained what would be happening over the time spent at the training camp you felt an arm snake around your waist, leaning into the boys touch he gave you a small peck before peeling away from you grinning, bakugou isn’t one for pda but no one was really watching since you were all walking to the cafeteria to eat and everyone was too hungry to care, besides if anyone pointed it out bakugou wouldn’t hesitate to cuss them out.
you slept comfortably that night until you all got woken up at an ungodly time that morning, the only person who didn’t look dead was bakugou since he gets up early anyway, ‘what time did you sleep last night’ he asked you with a raised eyebrow, ‘the same time as everyone else, 11pm’ he rolled his eyes, before he could get a word out you said ‘not everyone sleeps at 8pm grandpa’, denki and kirishima laughed at your statement, ‘shut up dumbass’ he retorted. aizawa explained what you would be doing, many groans and whining could be heard as he explained how hard you should push yourself, you had to practise holding yourself in the air while throwing random objects for as long as possible, the only problem with this is you feel extremely light headed and your nose always bled when you do this for too long, bakugou practised near you so if you did go overboard he could catch you, which he didn’t tell you but he didn’t want you hurting your head.
it had been a couple hours of this and you were exhausted, ‘hey y/n, catch!’ you spin around catching the water bottle midoriya threw at you, ‘thanks midoriya’ you smiled, he returned it throwing one to todoroki who was near you and then bakugou, ‘dont try help me deku!’ he yelled, ‘baby you’re sweating take it’ you said thank you to midoriya which made bakugou mumble angrily.
after some group training the pussy cats explained a game to you guys assigning you pairs, since the numbers were odd you got paired up with tsu and ochako, you looked over at bakugou who was complaining about todoroki being his partner which you giggled at. your uncle led the other kids back to the camp as you guys headed into the forest. it had been a while in the forest and you heard a couple screams making you shiver, you all talked about random things before ochako pointed a little deeper into the forest sniffing ‘what is that’ you looked up to where she was pointing and you could see blue flames, before you could answer you felt a blade slice your cheek, wincing you looked to where it was thrown from to your confusion you saw a normal school girl, ‘you’re all so cute!!’ she exclaimed making you raise an eyebrow. just as tsu asked her who she is you got a message from mandalay via telepathy, ‘students, villains have infiltrated the site, get back to camp as soon as possible’, eyes widening you jumped away from the girl aiming at her ‘tsu, uraraka are you hurt’ you said eyeing the girl in front of you, ‘tsu!! that’s such a cute name, i think i’ll call you tsu’ she said in a high voice, ‘only my friends can call me that’ tsu said with a shaky voice dodging the knives. she sent another knife but not at you or tsu, this time at uraraka slicing her shoulder, just as you contemplated using your quirk you all got another message from mandalay ‘you have been given permission to use your quirks, but only in need of defence.. we also know who one of the targets are, katsuki bakugou, if you can hear this bakugou please go back to camp immediately’ hearing this your head filled with worry for your angry blonde, pushing the thoughts to the side you needed to find him, so you used the force in your hands to pin toga to the ground sitting on top of her so she couldn’t move, ‘Y/N HER HAND’ before you knew what uraraka meant the girl loosened your grip from her right hand and plunged a knife straight into your thigh making you cry out, unable to move in time she pumped the blood out using a machine, screaming out in pain, tsu and uraraka ran to you but quickly stopped as toga held the knife to your throat threatening to hurt you further. hearing your scream and recognising it immediately bakugou ran towards your voice, jumping through the trees, toga leapt from you as midoriya, todoroki, tokoyami and shoji ran behind bakugou halting when seeing you all, ‘there’s too many people now, i don’t feel like dying tonight’ toga pouted before running back through the trees. you groaned as bakugou ran to your side ‘fuck, can you stand up’ you hopped up with the help of him pressing your forehead to his, happy that he’s safe, you quickly spun around to check on your friends wincing in the process ‘y/n what happened?’ todoroki questioned looking at yours and urarakas injuries, you explained while checking your friends injuries ‘shit midoriya, you look terrible’ he smiled at you reassuring you it’s fine. ‘okay so bakugou, we have to protect him and get back to the camp as fast as possible, you turned around to talk to the boy, panicking when he wasn’t there ‘where is he.. bakugou this isn’t fucking funny’ looking around you noticed tokoyami wasn’t there either as shoji pointed out his lack of presence. panicking you looked up to see compress, another villain apart of the league of villains, ‘you were so occupied with your plan that you didn’t even notice they’re gone’ he sneered, your blood boiled at his words, thinking what has he done with them..
‘WHERE DID YOU TAKE THEM!’ you yelled, you saw red, how didn’t you notice, your friends looked at you bewildered never seeing you this angry before, ‘sorry gotta run!’ the villain said as he hopped tree to tree, ‘fuck no no no’ you mumbled trying to think of what to do, ‘i have an idea’ tsu said quickly, she explained how she was going to propel you with her tongue and use shoji’s arms if needed to go any further, without a second thought you agreed, she wrapped her tongue around all of you and pulled back before releasing, the cold night air hit your skin, your wounds feeling soothed at the feeling. you could see him, the villain found where he was meant to meet his friends, until he turned to see you all coming full speed at him, panicking he hesitated as you jumped at him, another villain dabi tried burning midoriya but you pulled him towards you in time, todoroki didn’t get burnt as dabi’s fire only aimed for midoriya, you turned noticing the girl from before, you threw toga against a tree with a flick making her squeak in pain ‘that wasn’t very nice, i thought we were friends!!’ you laughed at the delusional girl, ‘never’, her facial expression changed to a furious one, she grabbed her knives throwing them one by one as you dodged and used your telekinesis to throw them back at her, one of the knives hit her leg and her arm ‘THATS NOT FAIR!!’ she stomped like a child, ‘she could be useful’, you heard from compress, you turned about to attack him but before you could shoji yelled, ‘IVE GOT THEM LETS GO’ you all looked at him in disbelief, he showed you the two pearls that were meant to be bakugou and tokoyami, letting out a sigh of relief you all went to the side of the entrance to the clearing, todoroki took your wrist pulling you back from a nomu who came through the trees you were about to walk into, ‘this way!!’ midoriya pointed at another way out ‘we’ve can’t let them get away’ dabi said about to unleash his flames, ‘no don’t, i thought i’d let them gloat a bit’ at his words you spun around, eyes widening in horror as he moved his mask and opened his mouth, two little beads, tokoyami and bakugou in them shone in the light, the two beads shoji had turned into ice, ‘is that my ice?’ todoroki shouted frustrated, compress was about to walk through the portal, just as you started running at them he got hit with aoyama’s laser beam causing one of the beads to fall out, the bead transformed into tokoyami and the other transformed into bakugou, but he was still in their grasp, running as fast as you could you grabbed his wrist just in time knowing he wouldn’t let you do this, you pulled him as hard as you could making him fall behind you as dabi grabbed you by the waist holding you firmly, ‘guess we’ll take this one instead’ he grinned.
the last you saw of bakugou for the next 2 days was him running at you before you got transported into the league of villains base. ‘y/n l/n huh, we originally wanted bakugou but you got in the way.. no matter, your power is still powerful if not more, the only problem is you’re level headed, you aren’t as.. explosive’ he drawled on. they didn’t hurt you but it was repetitive, constantly asking if you’ll join them.
when bakugou woke up he felt at peace for a couple seconds before remembering what happened, when he did fall asleep it’s because aizawa convinced him he needed to sleep at least a little, so here he was resting his head on a chair in the waiting room of the hospital, before he finally fell asleep he couldn’t help but blame himself, constant questioning his actions, ‘it’s my fault’... ‘what?’ aizawa looked at the boy with a raised brow, ‘it’s my fault they took them, they were meant to take me but they grabbed me and i couldn’t help them in time, i-it’s my fault’ aizawa looked at the blonde for a couple seconds before a small smile, undetectable to anyone looking at him crept on his face, ‘bakugou, i may be angry at those villains for taking them but i am not angry at you, they chose to save you blaming yourself won’t help anyone, besides we will get them back and in order to help you need to make rational decisions which you can’t do thinking these things’ he sat next to bakugou while telling him this, only loud enough for bakugou to hear, he put his hand on the blondes head as they sat there in a comforting silence, ‘besides you would’ve done the same for them’.
as soon as bakugou woke up kirishima lead him to midoriyas room, ‘what the hell am i doing here’ he said not having the energy to scream, ‘kaachan, before you leave.. we want to help get y/n back’. it didn’t take anything for kirishima to convince him, he was in once they told him the plan, despite the protests from his friends and classmates he had to, the feeling in his stomach and chest felt as if he was suffocating, he didn’t know how you were, whether you’re injured or not or whether you’re even alive and it was eating him up inside.
they watched momo and midoriya walk over as bakugou, kirishima and todoroki stood in silence. after some discussing and protests from iida they all got on the next train agreeing that as soon as things get violent they’ll get out of there, bakugou didn’t really care about that, he just needed you to be safe. ‘we need disguises!!’ after looking the part they slowly tiptoed around the building you’re meant to be in, ‘kirishima what can you see?’ he wobbled a bit before his eyes widened in horror, ‘g-god, it’s those nomu things’, they looked through the gaps of the window in fear, ‘wait shit y/ns not in there are they?!’ bakugou tried stretching his neck to see each corner of the warehouse, ‘don’t yell!! we have to be careful, i don’t think they’re in there i’m-’ before momo could finish her sentence the entire building shook making them fall to the ground, groaning they looked up to see mt lady and best jeanist, ‘they said all mights on the scene, they’ll be okay’ todoroki said relaxing a little. for some reason bakugou didn’t relax he couldn’t until he saw you safe but before he could even think he felt himself being pushed against the wall of the small alley, looking next to him to find the culprit he met 5 terrified faces telling him not to move, he listened in to what was going on, so this was the boss, it was never shigaraki, as they heard their pro hero jeanist get wounded and maybe even die they couldn’t move, they were in shock, until they heard you.
‘fuck, where.. am i’.. bakugou looked over the wall peering through it at the sound of your voice, iida pulled him back quickly ‘don’t, bakugou no’ he knew it’s a bad idea, just as he was about to peer again to see if you were injured a large thud made the ground shake, it was all might and while all might and all for one are fighting you’re in the middle of it, meaning all might can’t use all of his powers, everytime you screamed dodging toga or compress bakugou feared the worst, ‘is that all you’ve got’ he heared you say, you sounded tired and weak. his mind was running with things that haven’t happened, the worst thoughts taking over his head, ‘guys, i have a plan’, never had bakugou been more keen on listening to midoriya.
after telling everyone the plan and their roles they got ready, since you couldn’t fly they had to think of a way to get you off the ground into the air, the only person who can do that is bakugou, with momo’s quirk she created a bluetooth device that’ll let her talk to you, since you had a telekinesis quirk you can use your mind as well as your hands, so the league of villains used magne to magnetise you to the chair you were bound in, which means you still have magnetism in you, so momo used that to get the earphone in your ear. you felt a tingle in your ear but too occupied by fighting the villains you ignored it, ‘y/n please carry on fighting as usual don’t let this throw you, get as close as you can to the wall behind you, bakugou is going to grab your arm, let him and then he’s going to blast you guys into the sky where midoriya will catch you’.
and that’s exactly what happened, the plan could not have gone smoother, bakugou grabbed your arm and you both blasted into the sky, you watched large amount of ice form creating a sledge for midoriya and iida to use, midoriya grabbed your arm as you all flew past mt lady. you landed safely, ‘are you hurt’ the boy frantically checked, you smiled at him before wrapping your arms around your boyfriends neck, ‘the only injuries i have are from back at the camp, they have bandages around them but they haven’t been healed’ he sighed relaxing into your touch, ‘fucking hell dumbass, don’t ever do that again’ you hummed against him rubbing your nose against his neck smelling his caramel scent which you missed. ‘guys we should let the authority’s know they’re okay’ midoriya squeaked bizarred at bakugou’s affection.
after getting a hug from all the friends who insisted on saving you today, bakugou dragged you back to the hospital, insisting on carrying you, ‘y/n?!... i’m so glad you’re safe’ you’re not used to affection from aizawa, it isn’t something you were used to because he knows how to comfort you without using physical affection, but hugging you was a comfort he needed right now, knowing that you’re safe and he’s able to hold you comforted him greatly in this moment before you he didn’t have anyone to talk to after school or look after, whether he was used to affection or not didn’t matter to him here. ‘bakugou, midoriya, kirishima, momo, iida, todoroki, what you did was fucking stupid, but i’m thankful, thank you’ he mumbled a little as he ruffled your hair.
as soon as you were all back at the dorms you had a class movie night in honour of your return and safety, that didn’t mean bakugou didn’t insist on you cuddling him, for a guy who’s not one for pda he needed this. throughout the whole movie you kept your head on his shoulder.his head on yours lifting his head every now and then to place a kiss on your head, ‘i missed you so fucking much teddybear’.
Chapter 245
A week later
Tumblr media
Cammie
"Hey, Lane."
"Hey Mommy!" He says not coming to the phone.
I keep talking to him anyway. "What are you doing, Lane?"
"Get on the airplane. Zoom to Grandma house."
"Come sit down and talk to your Mommy." April says.
"He going where, Ma?"
It was Lane. "Charleson."
"Charleston?" I snap.
"To see Mama... to see grandma." He says.
"When are you coming to see me?" I ask him mad.
"Mommy I see Daddy."
I suck my teeth. "Where?"
"Nanma. Nanma! I see Daddy!"
"Lane!" April snaps.
I don't hear nothing. No Lane. No April. Just a few beeping sounds and Caden's heavy breathing by my head. I swear he can crawl. I don't know how he ended up by my head. I was on the computer reviewing this schedule for Dancing with the Stars. Trey says he is going to keep his schedule light so he can be in the crowd for all the shows I dance on. That could end up being 3 months look like. If I go to the finals.
"Chil." April says.
"Mommy?" Lane says. "Mommy it's Daddy. Daddy?"
"Hey, Jay."
I look at the phone. "Tremaine?"
"I had a few extra hours." Trey says. "Lane, come over here. Don't run out there."
"Tremaine you need to put him to sleep so he can have all that damn energy for Gwen."
I huff. "You met my niece. She used to that."
"Daddy, where you at?"
"Lane." Trey says. "Here look at this. See you open it like this. You do it. No. Sit right here and do it."
April chuckles. "He not listening. He going to show Forrest. I told you this has been him for the past 3 days. He needs to get sick again."
"Why the fuck would you want that?" Trey says not caring about Lane's behavior.
"You always have help with him. Shut up." April snaps.
"I'm still fucking mad you went to see him after you were the one all down for him staying with your family longer. But I can't miss my baby all the way in California?"
Trey doesn't say anything.
"Daddy. Mommy. Mommy, where Taden? I don't see you, Mommy."
I answer the video call. "Lane."
"I see Mommy! Muah." He says kissing me through the phone.
"Awh, thank you."
He is sitting in Trey's lap. Trey feeds him something. I love my little big man. He moves around now more worried about food than talking. He looks at the phone stuffing his mouth with something.
"Where Taden at?"
I show him Caden behind my back sleep.
"I get it, Daddy." Lane whines. "Nanma get it."
"He has his Daddy now, he not worrying about nothing else." April says showing them.
They were eating something out of a styrofoam box. Lane climbs out of Trey's lap sliding on the floor. Trey pulls him up by one arm back onto his lap. Lane bends his back dropping down to the floor again. I shake my head. This time Trey lowers the box before pulling Lane to his feet. Lane grabs the fork right away stuffing his mouth. Lane spills it all over Trey. Trey gets rid of the box handing it off to whoever grabs it. He picks Lane up making him lay down. Lane screams and fights him like he was a stranger. Trey let's him fall out on the ground.
"Get him off the floor." April snaps.
Trey mumbles something back. Lane stays by his feet crying like someone was trying to hurt him. I don't know how many times I have fussed at them for not disciplining my son. Letting him act like a whiny brat.
"Daylan?"
"Mommy." He cries using Trey's leg to stand up.
I roll my eyes. "Fix those eyes and dry those tears."
He lays his head on Trey's lap. "I do it by myself."
"You just sleepy."
"No." He jumps up trying to find his energy again. "No I not."
Trey lifts him up. Lane slides back down until his feet hit the floor. Trey shakes his head. I know he probably thinking why did I come see this bad boy. That's what he gets going to see my baby when he is the one sent him away so long. That's exactly what he gets. His bad son. Lane wipes his face on Trey's shirt then closes his eyes standing up.
"Ma, who decided he was going to Charleston?" I ask.
"There's a church festival going on down there I was telling Gwen about. And don't act like he wasn't supposed to be with me til Wednesday."
I roll my eyes. "Whatever. Bye."
"Love you." Trey says.
"I'm mad with all of yall. I want my baby." I say hanging up the phone.
I call MiMi.
"Bae!" She snaps. "Call... I mean tell me why I call Sevyn and she all like fuck you people with those golden uterus and sparkly vaginas. That girl on something."
"We aren't talking."
MiMi laughs. "Good. I'm selfish anyway."
"Your babies home?"
"You know that punk ass son of mine not. He is with Amber and Chris going to see King. Oh they bringing him to your house tomorrow cause of something. Some famous person problem."
"I hate people that can't keep their hands off other people children."
MiMi laughs. "Dee is supposed to be having a serious conversation with me when he gets home. Sound like I'm in trouble again."
I suck my teeth. "He ah bitch. If you need back up call me and let me listen I got you. How bout Trey went to see Lane?"
"That punk. But he was all like let him stay it won't hurt. Bullshit."
"Exactly. I should have married you."
She giggles. "Bitch and we would have been so happy together with only 2 babies. Now look at this. I ain't marrying you now cause you think you too good for Ramen noodles and food stamp hotdogs."
"Bae, food stamp hotdogs?" I laugh.
She blows. "See how you is?"
"No." I laugh. "I would leave Tremaine for you."
"Shut up. Don't even." MiMi snaps. "My son even too boogie. He said Mommy McDonald's nasty. I like Chickala. Waffle fries."
I laugh. "Not Waffle fries."
"That's what he was eating. I said I hope Chris knows he gonna be paying for you to eat at Chick-fil-A cause I'm not."
"And Chris ass had something to say."
"He did. Talking about I'm going back to get him a gift card cause I be tryna get money for Gucci shoes. I said I'm not your baby mama."
I laugh. "I love you."
"And I'm not." She sucks her teeth. "Boogie black ass."
"Chris or the baby mama?"
"My son."
I laugh harder. "Not JJ."
Tumblr media
Trey
"So how have you been?"
"I'm good."
She raises her eyes. "What does good mean for you?"
"Mean I'm good. I'm fine."
"You have everything under control? How is now different from two weeks ago?"
I shrug. "I realized my boys look for me. Don't know what's different. My look on my life?"
"Okay that's something to anchor you to the ground. This week you feel as though you matter and they will miss you. Last week you felt everything and everyone would be okay without you."
"I'm trying to do more stuff on weekdays so I can go to church more."
"Church?"
I nod. "Yeah. I'm trying to do that."
"Well it's okay that you aren't as successful as you hope. Church every Sunday is a blessing to someone with your schedule. May I suggest daily prayers with your family. Something more accessible and family oriented."
"And church."
"Yes of course."
I nod. "Yeah."
"How has your wife been? Have you had anymore conversations about her past and maybe her childhood?"
"No."
"You have to talk about things that's uncomfortable until then become easy to talk about. If she can't be comfortable with you then who?"
"Yeah."
She writes something down. "Do you think you are handling this well enough on your own?"
"Handling what?"
"The things we talked about. Would you like to try some form of prescription? Maybe something for depression or a mood stabilizer?"
I shake my head. "I think that's what got me here. I took some pills I hadn't touched in a long time."
"You thinking this was influenced by your actions not what you were going through at the time?"
"Naw it all had something to do with it. Just saying I don't want the drugs. I wanna be there for my boys when I'm there."
"Other than God what other tools are you going to use to help you though the next episode?"
I shrug. "Ain't God enough?"
"You ask yourself that."
"Cammie's family seem like they are willing to help her marriage stay together. So I guess them."
She smiles. "You seem unsure."
"Not unsure. Just indifferent about having to go to them. They won't be on my side but hers. Like going to your mama after you fucked up something she told you not to bother."
"Again you have to find that comfort in uncomfortable situations. Make it a normal so it won't be so taboo."
I shrug. "Better said than done."
"Well I'm glad to hear about your plans to keep yourself grounded. Anything you have on your mind that's pressing you?"
"Just trying to figure out how to lighten my schedule. My wife bout to start the Dancing with the Stars rehearsal."
She huffy. "Well we know Cammie won't need much rehearsal. That should be overwhelming for you. Her spending more time Dancing less time with the boys. Have you talked about who will have them?"
"No." I frown. "I ain't think about that shit."
"It's not that bad if it has to be you."
I shake my head. "You don't understand."
"Try me."
"Lane is only good for Cammie. Caden isn't 6 months and he fights. Can't even crawl and he fights."
She giggles a bit. "So you have a lot to discuss."
"Yeah." I blow.
"Does she plan to continue breastfeeding?"
I drop my shoulders. "I feel like I don't know nothing."
"Mommy's are very important."
"Critical."
She tears a note off her pad. "I wrote you a to do list. More like to talk about list. Help you stay focused while having this tough conversation. It has to start early. Just like you prepare for tours early. This is a major change in family dynamics. Everyone's new role has to be mapped out and carefully considered. Don't forget her family as a tool. I wrote that as a situation over here."
"Thanks." I say staring at the paper.
"Let's work on that and your daily prayer. Don't want to tackle a 400lb man when we can tackle a 250lb man."
"Yeah." I nod.
She taps my hand. "You are okay."
"Yeah." I say standing up. I walk out and call Cammie. "Jay?"
"Hey, Tremaine."
I sigh. "What are you doing?"
"Breastfeeding and watching Peppa Pig."
"Peppa Pig?" I stop walking. "Why? Who there with you?"
She giggles. "Nobody."
"Damn, Jay."
"It was on when I turned the TV on in here. I just left it. I didn't really wanna watch TV it's just quite."
"I'll be home in the morning."
She sighs. "I know when you will be home. How did therapy go?"
"I guess good." I say looking at the paper. "I got an assignment. Stuff we need to talk about."
"You always leave with stuff about we. Are you talking about yourself in there?"
"What's me without you. Us."
She giggles. "Please don't start singing to me Trey Songz."
I laugh. "Make fun of my struggle."
"What do we need to talk about?"
"Church and shit like that."
"That tells me a lot, Tremaine. I'm sure you talked more than that to get those topics on that paper. What about church? We don't go to church."
I get into the car. "Yeah that's just it. I'm trying to clear things so we can. If not Virginia or Charleston I don't necessarily know a church."
"That's not too hard as long as you not trying to join a cult or Kanye church."
"Stop being such a clown."
She giggles. "Youre a celebrity. I got to ask these things."
"Imma send you this." I give it to CiCi.
"No, Tremaine you remember what you got to talk to me about."
I blow. "I miss you."
"Okay, I'm here. Go to sleep and wake up one time and you will be with me."
"I ain't 3."
She giggles. "Tell your daddy to stop acting up. Tell him."
"FaceTime me." I demand.
She does it. "You hold it and talk to your daddy."
I laugh. "He holding it."
"Yeah he holding it. Okay give it back. Caden!"
The video ends. I stare at the screen. She calls me back.
"Tremaine come get your son. I tried to take it and he throws it back away from me dropping it. He thought he was strong enough to hold it away from his body. Caden."
"Why he looking at you like that?" I laugh then show CiCi.
"He is too cute." She smiles.
Cammie sucks her teeth. "Caden. Caden?"
"Jayla."
"Tremaine."
"I gotta go." I say not believing myself.
She kisses the phone. "Call me."
"Okay."
"I'll be waiting."
I smile. "Love you."
"Say Mommy loves you, Daddy."
Caden smiles at the phone. I smile back at him. "Love you, son."
worst case scenario part 5
finally!! so sorry its been an age to anyone still here but lives been interesting atm so....  also this really feels a bit rambley and the ending is deff underdeveloped but I just kind of wanted this done tbh x
[previous part] [part 1]
warnings:  hospitals - ICU, ventilation that sort of stuff, just a lot of ANGST post a difficult birth - please don't read if this could be upsetting for you, and my inbox is always open if u wanna chat :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In a complete 360 degree flip from earlier that day, after leaving the hospital Tom had become obsessively attached to Aurora. They’d got back to his parents place in Tom’s car; Aurora in the carseat Y/n and Tom had ready in their car door for her arrival. Clearly his parents had already pre-warned his brothers, who had thankfully already gone over to Tom and Y/n’s - collecting the Moses basket amongst other items Harry had been listed off from his mother.
Apart from explaining a little behind her name to his parents on the journey back, Tom had spoken very little, choosing to keep himself to himself - physically stationing himself beside the Moses basket the whole time. Of course, there had been a bit of light conversation and almost procedural passing round of Aurora between all her uncles and grandparents, which Tom had kept a wether eye on - but ultimately not engaged.
He also knew that physically his body was failing him. Although eating a little of the lasagne Sam had made for everyone, he could only stomach a minuscule amount, which did little to boost his energy levels. It felt as though sleeping was the enemy, because he was neither ready to leap into the car if the phone went; or to hear the smallest sound from the wicker basket, suggesting something was wrong. So as much as he tried to fight it, before even nine o’clock he began to dose off on the familiar couch of his parents sitting room - occasionally jerking himself awake before loosing the fight once again.
Nikki had tried to gently push him to take a break in the spare bedroom, which had been Tom’s before he’d moved out, but was unsuccessful - every time he retaliated with a stern shake of his head, while checking his phone just in case he’d missed a notification. Eventually Nikki relented, later in the evening both her and Dom retiring to bed; once Sam had agreed to stick around downstairs till a bit later - as a chef he worked till late in the nights, so even on his days off like today, his sleep schedule was just a little fucked.
Left alone with his new little niece and now pretty firmly asleep brother, Sam draped a blanket over the latter just in time for Aurora to start fussing in the need of a bottle. His mum had explained how to do everything, how to mix the formula and heat it up, so after scooping up the little wriggling girl in the hope his brother wouldn’t get disturbed, Sam dealt with her. To be honest no matter how clueless and useless he felt, Aurora was just so cute - if a little wrinkly and alien looking, but in a good way. This was the first baby any of them had had, so the first time Sam experienced this instant connection and love for the little being that was his niece or nephew. It was terrifying, lifting the bottle against her lips for the first time, but then it just sort of seemed to work. She was incredibly smart for less than 24 hours old, instantly latching on, like she had done for Haz at the hospital.
That gave Sam a little confidence in his ability as an uncle, giving himself a satisfied nod while swaying from the kitchen to move back into the living room. It was just a preference to be within reach of Tom… just in case. His poor brother still hadn’t moved, slumped against the corner of the sofa, leaning toward the now empty Moses basket. Normally, Sam seeing his supposed heart throb of a brother looking as rough as he did now - double chin, mouth hanging slightly open, deep sunken eyes - he would’ve taken a photo to blackmail him with. Now though, it was just desperately sad, seeing his brother like this, hand still clutching his phone tightly above the blanket.
Rather hoping the calm would last for a while, Sam successfully finished off feeding Aurora; winded and then put her down to sleep again just in time. Because, perhaps expectedly, Tom’s phone began to blare off the default iPhone ringtone making Tom jump and throw the device across the room as he awoke with a start. Sam ran to grab it off the floor, mainly with the hope of turning it off before Aurora was awoken too - knowing that it was best tonight to tackle one thing at a time.
And so he immediately swiped to answer the call, not even registering who the call was from, much rather just wanting the noise to stop.
“Hello?”
“Sam? It’s Harrison” Tom had jumped up from his seat hovering beside Sam with petrified look. It took barely seconds for Tom to snatch the phone back, launching questions down the receiver.
“Slow down would you? Y/n is fine I was just phoning to check in.”
“Oh er yeh… um sorry I just… just thought…”
“It’s the other way mate. Nurse says she’s starting to get there cos first she moved her arm a bit when we pinched her shoulder and then I just called because she started to like gag and now the ventilator thing is gone.”
“W-what?”
“I think she’s breathing by herself? Like she’s got an oxygen mask instead of the tubes down her throat.” Clearly Harrison was not, by any means, a medical expert.
“They said she would have the ventilator for a few days at least.”
“I guess Y/n got bored? To be fair she couldn’t ever sit still.”
“I’m coming to you.”
“Tom it’s nearly midnight, I was supposed to be kicked out at 10. Just come back in the morning, they won’t let you in I’m pretty certain.”
“What if she wakes up!”
“Then they’ll call you! She’s getting better Tom you should be try and relax for like a second.”
“FUCK OFF HAZ! If she wakes up all alone and terrified then-“
“I’m not going to having a screaming match on the phone with you. I think we both know you wanting to come is more for you than for Y/n, because Y/n would want you to be looking after Aurora.”
Again guilt tripping using the newborn. Harsh but effective. Stopping Tom’s anger dead in it’s tracks.
“Look I can put the nurse on for her to tell you they won’t let you in and they’ll call if anything happens - but you already know that.”
“Yeh sorry fine … I know don’t bother.”
“Okay… I’m was gonna head back to my place and I know you’ve probably got your mum begging to fuss over Aurora but if-“
“Can you come?”
“Didn’t need to ask mate.”
And that’s how the night went. Until Harrison arrived at the Holland family home, Tom had spent the time pacing back and forth, blatantly ignoring the pleas of Sam just to sit down. Once he arrived though, going through all the updates in a lot more detail Tom seemed, for the first time, optimistic. By no means could you call him relaxed or happy - but compared to the rollercoaster that had been the last 24 hours, Harrison thought that was more than enough. Aurora had started fussing again at 1 but by the time it had turned into a full blown scream at Tom, Sam already had the bottle ready. It took a little bit of encouragement and promise that Tom would be able to feed her but actually, she instantly latched on, settled in her Dad’s hold while guzzling down the contents of the bottle.
After a bit of winding she ended up falling asleep on her dads chest, only when he felt himself start to flag did Tom place her back in the basket. Harrison and him ended up crashing on the sofas, Sam retiring to his own room. Phone still tightly clutched in Tom’s grip.
////////////////////
The first thing Y/n became properly aware of was this intense heaviness all over her body. It felt as though her limbs were all composed completely of lead, meaning as much as she was just craving rolling over, it was as though her own body was holding her down. A very alien feeling that unsettled her slightly, trying to shake of the misty feeling in her head to work it all out. It took a while to drag herself out of the depths of sleep, to the point where background noise slowly faded in - an alien beeping as well as distant shuffling making her heart thump with unease. Finally, perhaps most distressingly , her eyes felt glued shut. Not because they were heavy, in the way someone extremely sleep deprived cant keep their eyes open; rather stiff like they hadn’t been used in so long they’d rusted over or something.
The feeling  was quite horrific and isolating- as though she were locked into her body without an escape in sight. Whilst trying to calm her racing thoughts, Y/n chose to focus completely on the one thing she could do. She could listen. She listened to the beeps, focusing on the type of sound, the way it chimed so regularly; and it’s form. It was familiar, for that she was sure but for now at least she couldn’t place it.
It felt like an investigation, trying with all her might to try and workout what the fuck was going on. To put it mildly.
The most useful clue though, a breakthrough if you will, is when a voice sounded - clear and familiar.
“Excuse me nurse?” It was Nikki. For sure. It was a clue, but didnt seem to make a hell of a lot of sense. Y/n was so focused on why the hell Nikki was apparently watching her sleep unconscious, she completely missed the reference to the nurse. As in hospital. As in Y/n was in hospital. “… I’m just going to swap out for my sons friend.”
“Harrison?” That voice seemed new and unfamiliar.
“Yes, he won’t be a second I’m sure.”
What was Harrison doing here too?
It was all very confusing and hurt Y/n’s brain to try and unpick. Gradually then, everything sort of melted away, diving back into the darkness.
The next time Y/n woke up things were different. This time she woke up like she would at any time of day. She woke up and her eyes followed suit. Not particularly easily, since as soon as they cracked open she was almost blinded by brilliant white lights, it taking a build up of willpower before she tried it again - bracing for the pain.
By now she knew something was wrong. She remembered all these patchy and hazy periods. All full of confusion and disorientation but with different voices keeping her at least semi calm. Familiar voices, all too often laced with such emotion. Especially Tom’s. She couldn’t remember what he had said, nor had she probably been able to understand it at the time - what stuck was the tone. The sadness, the hopelessness , the emptiness.
It was scary. But it made her want to help. Made her want to open her eyes.
After wincing at the dazzling white surroundings, Y/n blinked her eyes quickly, in an attempt to get them to adjust quicker. She saw an unfamiliar ceiling, one that was tiled in a similar way to her old school canteen. There was a  weird pressure round her mouth, eyes quickly darting down to see edges of a clear mask pressed up against the bridge of her nose. That wasn’t it though, the further she looked the more her eyes panned down this pale blue blanket, following the outline of her legs to the bottom raised edge of the bed. The hospital bed.
Her hospital bed.
As much as she wanted to jump up in panic; physically right now that was an impossibility. So instead, Y/n focused on trying to gleam as much information from the situation. It took a hell of a lot of effort, her muscles literally stiff and ridgid with disuse but with a small groan her neck eventually agreed to follow orders. Just a small tilt to the left and suddenly Y/n felt so much more less panicked. Everything was that bit less scary because there was Tom.
Admittedly he didn’t look amazing, or even not bad. Tom was sat with his back pressed against the side of chair, so his body faced her. Had he not looked so ruined, Y/n would’ve laughed at the side of his face squashed into the back of the seat. But he did look horrific, for lack of a better word. His brown eyes were locked shut, but also looked puffy and red, while dark at the same time - as though he’d been attempting to gouge his own eyes out prior. He looked like he hadn’t slept in weeks, hence why he had appeared to have collapsed in the arm chair. At least though , he wasn’t in a hospital bed himself.
That was Y/n’s pleasure.
Her next job was to get her neck muscles to pull her head to the other side. It was a slow wincing gesture, yet she was so aware of another presence that needed to be addressed too. But actually it was 3 people.
Right at the back, a nurse sat on a little spinny chair, scribbling something down in a file of papers but to be quite honest that wasn’t were Y/n’s focus zeroed in on. Instead on Harrison who was sat in chair mirroring Tom, except instead of being passed out asleep he was cradling a baby. Her baby.
Y/n literally felt her heart in her throat at that point, eye widening almost comically. That was her baby - it must be? The monitors all started to loose their regularity as Y/n threw an uncoordinated limb to that side of the bed- already having realised her throat was way too scratchy to try to say anything comprehensible.
Immediately that got the attention of both the nurse, who immediately leapt up and called for support, as well as Harrison - who looked like he was seeing a ghost.
“Oh my-Y/n-?” Luckily he kept the baby safe in his arms rather than dropping her in shock, whilst Y/n kept her eyes locked onto the bundle in his arms. Nodding down, she tried to remove the mask (actually just very slightly knocking it to one side) and attempted to ask of the baby. Her throat, being inhumanly dry and scratchy, didn’t really work but Haz still got the message, scoffing in amazement.
“Aurora… here’s your mummy.” Harrisons voice was quiet and wavering as he delicately held Aurora against Y/n’s collar bone, the babies little tuft of har tickingling her chin. Now Y/n was crying with happiness, looking up at Haz’s icy blue eyes and questioning her name. Harrison confirmed with another disbelieving whisper, whilst the arm that wasn’t still holding Aurora clasped Y/n’s hand with a death grip. “Tom’s choice.”
The mention of him had both of them shift their gaze across the room to Tom’s chair. Even with all the developments, Tom still seemed completely unaware, fast asleep with the side of his face squished against the back of the chair making his lips slightly askew. Y/n were acutely aware of the small congregation of doctors that had accumulated in the corner of the bay but they seemed to be respectfully waiting before they would prod and poke. Haz went to call Tom’s name, before he could though, Y/n squeezed his arm and minutely shook her head. That wasn’t what the blue eyes boy had been expecting, causing Haz to unfold and bring Aurora back up to his chest as he quirked his eyebrows at her.
She didnt need to be filled in on the situation to know exactly what was happening. She had no idea why she was in the hospital bed; how long it had been since she’d given birth - but she knew all she needed to. From Harrisons unbelievably shocked face; and from the state of Tom - it hadn’t been good. Her fiancé looked almost ghostly, it seemed evident that he needed her. First then, she gestured to Haz for some water, which after a panicked look to the nurse; then from the nurse to various doctors; she was eventually given permission.
After somewhat alleviating the sandpaper feeling in her throat, Y/n then croakily asked for a bit of privacy. Right now the doctors all were gawking, Harrison assumed it to be because they’d all led him and Tom to believe she wouldn’t wake up for a while- and even then she was supposed to barely be awake, not able to talk and drink or anything of the sort. With an ecstatic nod Harrison, shuffled out - while doing so prompting the medical people to draw the curtains completely shut round the bay.
Already Y/n had tears welling up in her eyes, purely because she hated seeing him like this. He just looked so broken and shattered which honestly felt worlds worse than the labour she’d gone through. Her whole body still hurt, stiff and achy for reasons yet to be explained to Y/n. None of that mattered though, as she strained her arm out to the side in order to gently reach his knee that was folded up and sticking out awkwardly at an angle. After swallowing one again, Y/n squeezed round the joint and tried to shake it slightly. Instantly the man jumped up in his seat, heavy eyes blinking quickly and repeatedly as he tried to adjust to the room.
Being so sleep deprived and stressed out, Tom’s brain was not working normally, instead with a delayed haze as he apparently skipped over Y/n in the bed, rather surveying the the closed curtains and Harrison’s now empty chair. As he was lifting himself to sit more normally up, uncurling from the armchair, was when he noticed the hand on his knee. Breath caught in his chest, Tom instinctively bit his lip as his eyes gradually traced up the hand, to the forearm, up to the shoulder. It felt like a fever dream, as though all it would take is for him to move and she’d slip away again. But there were her green eyes, gleaming in a way that literally lifted a weight from his shoulders. Her smile was tired and a little confused, but so her - after spending days of just seeing all her features lax, Tom swore that it was the most beautiful thing in the world.
Only when Y/n finally croaked out a small ‘hi’ did Tom gain awareness of his body, or rather control of it, enough to leap up and leave over the bed - cradling her face in both his palms. Like a psycho he stared intently, swapping his focus from her left to her right eye like a madman.
“Your-I-I” He was trying to speak, trying to communicate all the thoughts and regrets of things he wished he’d said to her all at once. Weakly she reached up to fully remove the oxygen mask, dragging It down to below her chin, before squeezing his wrists in comfort. Only then did Tom notice the small puddle that had collected on her cheek, which made him realise he was absolutely bawling.
“You ‘kay?” Her voice was like sandpaper but everything about her was so completely Y/n and it was just giving Tom this unreal wave of euphoria. Physically incapable of replying, the brunette just scoffed, leaning over the bed even more so he could press his forehead on hers. He was laughing too, the fact she was asking him that seemed so preposterous, given all the tubes and wires attached to her at the moment. It took Y/n squeezing his wrist harder again to make him lean back a little, searching her eyes with his. She seemed so worried; seemed so full of concern - only then did Tom consider quite how much he’d ‘let himself go’ the past couple of days.
It had been two days since Aurora was born, only 48 hours. But the transformation was mad, none more so than mentally. 48 hours had quite literally changed everything for Tom; changed life forever and himself too. It was showing in his unshaven face, with unwashed  greasy hair, everything just looking ‘tired’.
“‘m just really glad your awake.” It was so honest and sincere it did have Y/n wondering what had happened and for how long. What had she put her fiancé through?
“How long?”
“The worst two and a half days of my life… I got you now though, yeh?” Tom whispered wetly, while stroking the side of her cheek - wiping both his and her tears away.
“Always.”
The doctors and nurses then came in, podding and poking Y/n like no tomorrow while Harrison and Tom stood back a little - excitedly grinning at each other and the sleepy girl Haz was cradling, before Tom stole her off him. There was a momentary sick-to-his-stomach feeling after some of the professionals had cleared, seeing her eyes shut again felt like everything was crashing around him. Thankfully though, one of doctors noticed the look of despair on his face, explaining to the two men that she was just asleep normally. That although sh’ed spent along time unconscious, waking from a medical coma is in itself exhausting.
After the initial excitement of Y/n waking the next couple of days were pretty samey. She’d been moved down to a normal ward, no longer needed all the incessant bleeping machines but still had to stay in hospital. Tom found it tricky too, he just always felt he needed to be by her side ‘just in case’. In fact, it had been a source of a bit of tension between him and his fiancé - she could see how exhausted he was from looking after Aurora, plus the stress of being in the hospital for hours a day with her. As Y/n got better and more switched on to the state of him, she realised it was inevitable he’d crash at some point.
But after a week and a half in hospital - comprising of a baby, emergency surgery, 3 days on intensive care, followed by 8 on the ward - Y/n was discharged. Nikki and Dom moved in to Y/n and Tom’s place, to provide care support both for Aurora; and Y/n for the rest of her recovery; and secretly Tom for everything he’d been through.
She was still order on bed rest due to her surgical scars, so Tom and Nikki helped to set her up in the master bedroom as soon as they got in. Of course, everyone was aware of Toms odd mood that day. Until then the only thing he wanted was to get his fiancé back at home with him but now she was over the threshold his excitement and joy appeared to have been zapped out of him. In fact, he’d barely uttered more than a couple sentences. So once Y/n was properly comfortable and Dom had brought Aurora and the cot into the room, Tom’s parents quickly made themselves scarce.
Tom hadn’t stopped, finding some reason to rummage around in the chest of drawers m while Y/n chewed at her bottom lip, watching him.
“Tom?” All she got in response was a light hum. “Tom please will you come and sit down for a minute?”
“I just need to-“
“Tom!” Her exclamation finally properly got Tom to listen, jumping round to face her. “Please... please will you just stop for a second?” Y/n’s eyes felt as though they were boring holes in his skull. Really, Tom knew he’d be forced into this at some point because he couldn’t avoid Y/n. She had some power of mind reading over him. So with a defeated nod and sagging shoulders Tom rounded the bed, weaving between his side and Auroras cot - where she was sleeping soundly.
A silence overcame the room as he heavily planted himself on his side of the bed, mirroring Y/n’s posture leant against the headboard.
“I think we need to have an honest conversation T.”
“If you want.” Nothing about his reply was the picture of enthusiasm, causing Y/n to hesitate a little.
“Look I am so beyond grateful for everything you’ve done while I was in hospital... and it doesn’t take a genius to tell you’ve worked yourself half to death-“
“I’m fine-“
“Don’t lie to me. I know you’re trying to protect me but please... will you just talk to me? Honestly?”
His reply this time wasn’t completely unforeseeable but it still shocked Y/n quite how quickly it happened, especially almost unprovoked. Because that’s all it took for Tom to break, for the past 2 weeks to get their vengance, for all the repressed emotion to escape.
He was crying- well more accurately sobbing- into his hands, his back quaking. Naturally Y/n reached out to pull him into her side, suppressing the groan of pain as she moved a little too much for her abdomen to handle. “I’m here T. I got you and I’m not going anywhere m‘kay?”
And that’s how they stayed, for at least 10 minutes, with Tom crying into her shoulder as Y/n rubbed up and down his back. Eventually though, everything did calm down and Tom repositioned himself to lean his head on her shoulder just facing forward and focusing on playing with her fingers, lacing them fingers with his.
In all the time since she’d woken up, Y/n was yet to broach the subject of their babies name yet. She sensed it was a sensitive topic to say the least, so had thought it best to wait till they were properly alone - not in a ward of 6 strangers where the only privacy came in flimsy blue curtains.
“So…. Aurora huh? Thought it was too airy-fairy, head-in-the-clouds for you?”  Smiling lightly, both of them were transported back to the pregnancy when they spent hours and hours bickering over names. Aurora had always been Y/n’s favourite but to Tom thought it was more a name for a hippy kid who went around clad in tie dye and bandanas.
“Still is a bit...but I needed a bit of a miracle and Iceland was in my head. Plus I sort of accidentally word vomited while shouting at Haz, for being nice to me.” Iceland as in when Tom had proposed under the aurora borealis in the freezing sky - when Y/n had agreed, promised even, to be with him forever.
“But you like it?”
“Of course... mother always knows best after all.”
“I think it suits her too. One of your best choices to date, listening to me.” Y/n mused, earning herself a very delicate but still playful elbow in the side before the room drifted back to a much more comfortable silence.
“We’re gonna get through this you know? Me, you and her, we’re together in this... I’m sorry I wasn’t in the beginning and I’m sorry I hurt you but now? I promise you got me and I’m not going anywhere…” Y/n needed to say it and needed Tom to properly listen. “ ...literally, I still cant walk properly.” Tom chuckled wetly at that, which made Y/n feel a lot better too.
To be completely honest, Tom was still hurt and he knew it’d take some mending to move past everything. By no means did he blame Y/n in anyway but just the fact he was left alone and abandoned - well, it was the worst time in his life. The way Y/n understood that and had apologised to him - if completely unnecessarily- meant everything. Meant she would help him to heal... whilst he helped her too.
“Can we just go to sleep? I need to wake up beside you in our bed not at tiny hospital one.” It was only 3 in the afternoon but because of Y/n’s medicine she was constantly drowsy and Tom? Tom was still in this permanent state of exhaustion. So it wasn’t so much of a weird request as it was on the face of it. With a nod, Y/n shuffled down on the bed a bit more resting her head against the top of Tom’s. It was exactly what they both needed, just a bit of peace with each other.
That lasted all of 5 minutes before Aurora woke and started to scream.
Life had most definitely changed. Especially for Tom. Because even though he was he was mentally and physically exhausted,  he only appreciated his daughters screams whole heartedly... because Y/n was there groaning with a tired smile too. They were in this together.
~~~~
 I really hope the ending didnt disappoint too much, im aware its rushed as hell, but thank you for getting this far! And I hope maybe this series has done a teeny tiny bit to normalise not everything in pregnancy and child birth being perfect - that there is morbidity and mortality associated. Obviously this is all fictional (esp the amazingly quick recovery and lack of neurological/other impairments) and not medically accurate in the slightest !!
